I have had a GE Profile countertop microwave for 13 years and it still performs great. I bought it at the time because Consumer Reports magazine rated it as one of the top microwaves. It performs well on all functions.

We purchased a new home in 2014 with all new GE appliances. The dishwasher has never cleaned the dishes. I have to wash the dishes before I load them in the dishwasher. I might as well use the dishwasher as a drying rack. We had a service person come out before the warranty expired. We have used all of the proper cleaning recommendations and setting per the service person. Not even 2 years later, the dishwasher started leaking and ruining our hardwoods. The dishwasher was quiet but then started making a horrible noise and a burning smell emanated when door was opened. Unfortunately all of our kitchen appliances are GE. If we replace any of the appliances, they will not be GE. I will also be getting in touch with the builder of our home to let them know that GE appliances are not reliable. GE needs to recall this dishwasher.

I had a new GE profile microwave which broke off couple of times and finally after 4 years of using it had to replace it. Since it was a built in so had not many options for replacement and went for GE again. This time the new microwave had a faulty door switch. It wasnt opening up every time. Scheduled an appointment and no one showed up - waiting for the whole day. I called the customer service 3 times and learnt that they had ordered some parts and were waiting for that. No one called and conveyed me this. I learnt myself after waiting from 8 am to 5 pm and upon calling them. They rescheduled me for a week later so that the parts can arrive. The day before the appointment I called again and now they dont have me in the scheduled appointment and got another appointment a week later. IT IS SUCH A BAD COMMUNICATION BY GE. I will NEVER recommend GE to anyone.

The protective lining inside the microwave is coming off in a number of areas and the metal is visible and rusted. Is it hazardous to use the oven which is otherwise working? I contacted the Consumer relations department of GE and was told that its not repairable and offered only $25 as rebate to buy another one from them or any other retail store. I visited a couple of merchants, online and in their store, shopping for a similar product and got a price range between $250-450 plus $110 installation fee for a similar OTC microwave oven. We have all other appliances at home from GE and this does not give a good confidence about the products from GE.

In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

GE Dishwasher model #GDF610PSJ5SS stopped working (would not even turn on) a little over 3 months. Because it was purchased over a year ago for a spec home we purchased, GE would not honor the warranty even though we had only purchased the home 3 months prior. Repair, if possible, most likely would be more than buying a new one. Recommend avoiding GE products. This is our 5th home, never had problem with other brands in previous homes!

GE factory services uses rude, discriminatory, evasive, procrastinating and unethical business practices to limit customers from claiming warranty. We have a non functioning dishwasher which is under warranty. This came as part of the appliance package given to us by the builder (Hallmark Homes) when we bought the house in December 2017. When we contacted GE customer service to let them know that the dishwasher wont work, they gave us a date after 2 weeks for sending their service professional. After 2 weeks, their service professional came in and behaved in an extremely rude and racist manner shouting at the top of his voice for the inconvenience caused to him for coming to repair the appliance. After connecting his computer to the appliance, he said it was fixed and left without even checking if the appliance was working correctly. Even after repeated requests to check the functioning of the device before leaving, he threatened to be physically violent if we still pestered him to stay. After he left, we realized that the dishwasher wasnt fixed when we ran a wash cycle. We again contacted the customer service to let them know that the issue isnt fixed and requested them to expedite things to get it fixed. They said that we will get the next date for a service appointment again after two weeks and there is nothing they could do. After living the nightmare of washing dishes for more than a month, the same service professional came in again and repeating his similar rude, racist, unethical and threatening behavior left without fixing the issue. He said that GE appliance is not owned by GE anymore and hence nobody cared about what happens to the customers. He again passed the buck to the customer service and said I needed to take up this issue with them. In this whole back and fort, we are left devastated without having our dishwasher and living the nightmare for more than a month.

I noticed that every now and then my dishwasher wasnt starting or running through a full cycle. I had called the GE repairman because my microwave was not heating up and asked him to take a look at my dishwasher as well. After hearing it was going to cost me $500.00 to fix my still under warranty microwave and the control board was no good and very expensive to replace because my one year warranty had past on my dishwasher, I will never invest in the money hog GE ever again! I bought GE OTR microwave in December. It is exactly one month old now. My model no. is: 9195SVC. It looks good, but I find the fan very noisy, even when it is at low. My range hood which we had in the kitchen prior to this microwave was very quiet at low and only a bit noisy at high. I do not know if the noise is because I have steel exhaust pipes vented out. Rest is O.K. but given that others have reported problems in 1-2 months, I am still nervous.I bought this product at Sears with an extended warranty, which is some relief. However, when I was shopping for this at Home Depot, the salesperson told me these microwaves last only 4-5 years. One good thing about Sears extended warranty is that if it is not used over the five years, they refund the warranty payment (with taxes) in the form of a gift card and they were also cheaper than Home Depot.

My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. She has a neighbor with the same problem. I researched online and learned quite a bit about this machine. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Im now demanding that GE return $150 service fee that I paid before I found out that its a defective machine. And this machine has to be replaced with a model that allows cooking with vents on. If GE does not do the right thing, I will make it a life goal that no one buy their products. Mark my words. Im this angry because I called customer service this week and was told that theyll give me a new panel but I have to pay for the labor and no refund for the $150 and no replacement microwave. This was insulting. Shame on GE.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. The panel is now dead and my only option, having tried the fixes on Youtube, is to invest money starting at $108 for an inspection or buy a new Microwave. My entire experience with this product has been a big disappointment as I also own a GE Cafe range, fridge, and dishwasher.

GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days
GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days ago, our GE Cafe Series dishwasher nearly caused a fire. If I had not been home that day, it surely would have. I ran the dishwasher as usual and went about my day several hours later. I detected a strange acrid smell and with my five-year-old who was ill and at home that day, discovered the dishwasher door was burning hot to the touch. I needed a potholder to open the door. Once opened, there was a blast of heat and smoke. I needed to use oven mitts to protect my hands from the heat to pull the racks out and handle the dishes. The heating element did not deactivate at the end of the cycle. If I had not been at home, the house would have been destroyed as all the plastic items on the top rack in the dishwasher melted. In addition the plastic parts of the lower rack, the wheels and their clips; the silverware holder; covers; the clips that hold the pot tins in place were destroyed, to the point that the majority of our silverware was coated with plastic. The plastic on the lower water dispenser has been demolished; it completely melted more than 50% of the plastic covering on the arm and is charred and burned. We are so lucky to still have a home! The door must be kept open. When the door is closed, the element super heats and presents a major fire hazard. We have noticed that there is a recall for similar models with plastic tubs, but ours has a stainless tub. GE needs to broaden the recall to include all these models. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Our GE Cafe Series dishwasher model #CDW9380N20SS was installed on October 1, 2008. I would not be surprised to find that parts from the recall in April 2008 were also used in the Cafe Series. I have discovered in the few days since the DW units malfunction that there are over 1000 complaints listed with similar, even identical complaints, on multiple internet sites with the same problems.

We purchased a GE over-the-range microwave oven last November 2010 and it was installed in February 2011 when our addition was finished. Last week, it decided to stop responding to instructions. When the door is closed, it just continues to run--the turntable turns, the light stays on and the fan keeps running. It will respond to instructions, but when we want to shut it off if the door is shut, we have to unplug it--which is a real pain because it is over the range. We have an old microwave that was my wifes parents and it still works fine even though it is about 20 years old. The new one stops working in a little more than a year which is not acceptable. We contacted GE and were told that we would have to pay over $100.00 to get the thing fixed. I dont think so. The jvm3160 series has a known defect in the door interlock electrical system that blows the unit fuse if the door is opened while the mw oven is operating. This usually occurs after the warranty expires. Cost to repair can exceed the original cost of the unit. Mine failed in warranty but it took them 10 weeks to fix it. The reason it took so long is that GEs repair protocol calls replacing the whole door (which has NO electrical parts in it) instead of replacing just the latch assembly because the labor cost to replace the latch itself exceeds the cost of a complete door assembly. Door assemblies were on back-order because of the high failure rate.

GE Profile Dishwasher Model GLD4400N10WW - This was the second GE dishwasher I have purchased and it will be the last. When guests come to my home, they ask whats wrong with my dishwasher when helping me in the kitchen. The racks are bubbled and there is a burn mark by the heating element from overheating. The dishes have always been too hot to unload afterwards that you have to leave the door open for ten minutes before touching them, or you will burn your hands. I purchased this dishwasher from Lowes on 2/23/2008 for $368.88. I see that there is a recall on the dishwasher now, and it is only worth a repair. Quite frankly, my dishwasher is all ruined inside and it needs more than just a new heating element. It isnt worth it to me. It is very noisy and sounds awful when I use it. I will not be putting any money into replacement parts at this point, and I am very disappointed with my purchase. A dishwasher should last more than 3.5 years. My dishwasher should be replaced for free, not just get a new element. My husband is a licensed builder and he will not be using GE either, after this experience. I am enclosing a photo of the burns.

He charged us $80 (without even touching the microwave) and said we will have to spend $450 more to fix it. This is such a horrible customer experience. I had a $40 microwave in my old apartment which lasted for 4 years without a single problem. I am definitely not paying $450 for a useless microwave. But now I am worried about remaining appliances I have from GE. I understand that you would say you cant do anything as the appliances are not in warranty anymore. But if you really care about your customers, you should start looking into this and fix it. I am very very disappointed and I am not letting this go. We bought a GE cafe series microwave (model/serial number: pnm919sf1ss/gd235771b) and 4 months later it ceased to function. We just had a remodel and for the first time had an expensive, over the oven microwave and were very excited. Unfortunately, unlike the 2 cheap microwaves weve purchased in the last 36 years, this one we had used for 3 months total, developed problems. The motor seemed to surge and then it would go off. Half an hour later it came back on but would only work for about 5 minutes at a time. I called GE and they arranged for a local company to come take a look. They insisted on a 4 hour window and fortunately my husband is retired so he could be there. The repairman came and didnt have a clue as to what was wrong. He called his boss who talked him through diagnostics. After an hour he left, saying hed be back in a week with some new parts. Again we had to wait the 4 hour window. He came in and we were on pins and needles hoping he wouldnt scratch our cabinets as he took the unit down. He replaced the microwave component and when he left it worked. Two days later it again died. I called the repair people and they told me I had to call GE to get permission for another attempt at repair. I called GE and they said I had to call customer service to file a report. They told me I had to make an appointment for a technician to come out to see if the microwave could be repaired. Really??? The technician would try to repair it again or decide it couldnt be repaired and needed to be replaced. Like we have nothing better to do than wait for these repair people who have no clue as to how to repair the microwave. Every time they take down the microwave they risk ruining our cabinets. It was so unhelpful. I am really disappointed in GE customer service. We had to go out and buy a microwave to use while we were waiting for the repair. They obviously dont care that we cant use their expensive product. Our replacement microwave was $40 from Walmart and works beautifully. We finally complained to our WONDERFUL contractor who originally purchased the microwave for us and he is replacing it with a new one. He was appalled by GEs treatment. He takes note of appliances that are crap so he can warn customers. I thought I was buying from a reputable company and thinking we were getting a great and special product. Too bad.

I called 1800GECARES and they said you either need to have a tech come out or we can replace it. I said Do you mean your solution is that my parents who just spent several hundreds of dollars on your defective appliance should spend several more hundreds of dollars to purchase another one from GE? Why did their last one last over 25 years but this one only lasted around 2-3 years? Why dont you stand by your products? Their response was I can connect you to customer service for further help. They also e-mailed me to make sure I was happy and no longer had concerns. I am thrilled with my experience. Let me say that again I e-mailed GE and within 8 days (a holiday included), I had new wheels and a technician to install them at no charge.

GE dishwasher caught fire - not part of recall. I arrived home for lunch to find smoke alarm going off and kitchen hot and hazy. Determined it was dishwasher and opened to thick black smoke pouring out. Heat so extreme cups/dishes and racks and spinning thing on bottom had melted and adhered to elements, each other and bottom. Parts of the dishwasher itself are warped (steel!). Granite countertops too hot to touch and wood cabinetry surrounding it darkened. Dont know the extent of that damage yet. Thank GOD I came home for lunch- I normally do not. I truly believe our house would have been on fire.

My Profile dishwasher is not on the recall list, yet the heater element malfunctioned and did damage the entire inside racks and spin bar along with contents. GE told us to have their recommended repairman provide estimate. Repair guy estimated over $600 to fix. The unit was smoking hot which caused bubbling on the exterior and the dishes to show signs of burning. Well with estimate, GE is offering a discounted top of the line dishwasher for over $600. Pretty sure, I do not want another GE. Also, when I told the agent that I was afraid that if I had not been home, it may have initiated a fire, she said it would not have happened. Really?

I have had two service calls on this dishwasher (Model Number GDT65SMJ0ES) and it is 18 months old. The first was to replace the heating element, which was under warranty. The recent problem was a cut-off switch that will trip when needed. The technician hooked up his computer to turn it back on, a very quick procedure, and it cost us almost $100. This unit should have a trip switch like a vacuum or garbage disposal so that the owner can do it themselves. After that, if the dishwasher still doesnt work, then a call for repair could be made. By the way, the repairman was very nice and respectful to us.

I just had a GE tech out to my house to look at a GE profile dishwasher that almost burned down last week. There was not a cover over the internal electronic control panel inside the dishwasher and that was causing the circuit board to short out. The dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. GE wants to charge us $200 for the repairs. But this should be something covered under warranty. Their solution is for us to pay half. I think we will go and begin to look for a new dishwasher and never purchase another GE appliance. If you are in the process of building a house and equipping your home with new appliances, I highly recommend you look for another line and another brand of appliances. I guess I need to check with an attorney to see if there are any open cases against GE for faulty electronic components in their appliances.

Model GLD5660V00SS - seems to be an entry-level dishwasher compared to others I have used/had in the past. It is rather small inside - usually have to run it every day or every other day for just two of us. It is plastic inside and the wheels have already come off a couple of times even though Ive only been using it since July. Having said that, it does a decent job cleaning and is easy to load. The outside with the stainless panel is attractive and the controls are easy to use. It has a large, removable silverware bin that keeps silverware from nesting. However, the holes are not large enough for the knives to fit in properly. The tops are removable, so I can just put them in another section.

We purchased a complete kitchen of Profile appliances. Everything is fine except dishwasher! The first one didnt clean food and left scum on everything... The company sent service several times replacing many parts.... finally gave us a new one... It still doesnt clean. It will not remove peanut butter, avocado, and my teacups are perpetually stained dark brown. My old dishwasher, Kenmore, left my dishes sparkling... no matter what was on them, plus I didnt have to run my kitchen sink to get hot water first! I will not use GE in my next house which will be built in about 3-4 years.

Its been more than 2 months that GE repair has been TRYING to repair my 4 month old dishwasher. 4 service calls, 3 wrongly ordered parts, GE blaming repair company, and repair CO. blaming GE. The repair company on their 4th visit told me wrong part again and that they refuse to come out anymore. They lost enough money already. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I have a 5yr extended warranty on the dishwasher and I cant seem to get anywhere with the factory warranty. GE by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They were happy to take my money for 4 top of the line appliances, after that youre non existent to them. Its a shame that legal counsel is what seems my only avenue. Will never consider buying GE products ever again.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher, model PDW9880J00ss, in July 2005, along with GE range, refrigerator and microwave oven. We have had nothing but trouble with them. Most currently, the power board did not shut off at the end of the cycle, overheated and melted the harness also. We were alerted when the odor of burnt plastic filled our home. It was fortunate that we were home and in the next room, or our house could have burned down. The dishwasher cannot be repaired. I will contact GE to see what, if anything they will do to compensate me, but I am not optimistic. I will never buy GL products again. I thought by buying top of the line products from a well-known manufacturer, I would have a quality product. I was totally wrong. Sometimes, you dont get what you pay for.

GE MICROWAVE OVEN MODEL PVM 187osmcoz PROFILE over the range. This is the first time we have purchased an extended warranty. It was purchased October 2010. On December 6 2010, the whole unit was replaced. Then little things continued to occur. The fan would start to run continuously. The circuit board was replaced. That lasted for several months. Then another circuit board was replaced. Less than two weeks ago another circuit board was replaced. Last night at dinner the unit began acting up again. This unit is out of commission for almost a whole week after every break down as we wait for parts. While waiting for parts on Jan 24 2012 we bought a Sunbeam Microwave for $39.95 as a back up. I placed it in service today, Jan 29 2013.

Within a year and a half of buying a new construction condo, the GE microwave fan stopped working (used the condo for no more than 30 days). I read all these complaints and am not surprised. My experience with Kitchen Aid appliances (refrigerator, microwave all junk) is no different than this. If I were to replace any of my appliances, I will not buy an American brand because they are all made in some other country with very poor quality control for very high profit and low quality goals. No choice for now, other than to get it repaired. At least, it provides employment, but what a way to create employment. I would never work for such companies.

GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 year
GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 years old and is used approximately once daily for lightly soiled dishes, usually only half full since there’s only 2 of us in the house. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?

I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating
I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating and recommendation of the salesman. Worst dishwasher I have ever had by far (in 27 years)! Salesman didnt know it doesnt have a water heater. It worked so poorly I had a company repairman to look at the dishwasher within a week of delivery. He recommended we run the sink water until boiling before turning it on, always use normal power, steam and boost settings. The cutlery is still often dirty - you have to scrub all food off the cutlery and rinse until clean before putting it into the dishwasher. A year later, the dishwasher is not nearly as quiet and a cycle takes 4 hours. Because of the design, this machine loads quite a bit less than my old dishwasher. Overall, I am sure this dishwasher uses way more energy and I use more cycles per week. I wouldnt take this dishwasher if they were giving them away for free!

I have had this GE microwave for over a year now and have not had a problem with it. It has a variety of settings and it doesnt quit if something causes a spark/feedback, like a tiny piece of foil. It has a spacious interior and a large turntable. Also, the light stays on while cooking and comes on when the door is opened allowing one to watch and check on the cooking process even in a dim night light environment. Mid-morning munchies without having to turn a bright light on. I have tried other GE products and was disappointed with their performance. GE Dishwaser Model # GDT580SMF2ES - My husband and I purchased an entire suite of GE Slate appliances in 2015 when we built our custom home. We purchased the refrigerator, glass-top range, range hood microwave, and dishwasher. We have experienced problems with the refrigerator Model # GFE28HMHCES twice. A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. We have done everything to rectify or repair the situation ourselves, and since it is no longer under warranty, we are left with an appliance that we either spend more money on to repair or toss and buy a new one. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY GE!

The paint on the ceiling is falling off and what hasnt fallen off is bubbling up over the entire surface, exposing bare metal. There is also missing paint on the floor of the oven. I called GE today and was told by a representative that it is a fire hazard and I should stop using it. She said I must have used a harsh chemical, but I have used nothing but dish detergent and water on paper towels. One of the most disgusting situations I have ever been in. I purchased a brand new home with all new GE appliances. I have since learned that a technician was sent out twice prior to our walk-through because the superintendent noticed the dishwasher wasnt working properly. I registered all my appliances online. The first time I used the dishwasher, it flooded the kitchen floor, causing the builder to have to repair baseboard and drywall. A technician came out and repaired it. I used it an additional two times and each time I did, it flooded my kitchen and a repairman came out. After the second time, I contacted GE customer care to open a case. The third time, I requested a new dishwasher and the customer care agent, Stephanie, stated that my new dishwasher was a discontinued model and so she suggested one that was a slight upgrade. I agreed to this change and she informed it would take approximately 24 hours to have it approved. I have since talked to seven different people at GE customer care. This was started when a company called Barlows Distributing showed up unannounced at my front door approximately hours after my discussion with GE. They said they were here to install my dishwasher. I was rather shocked, said the timing was impressive, and let them in the door. After they had drained the water standing in the then current dishwasher, they started to put in a replacement. I looked at the box and realized they were placing the same model in. I told them that was unacceptable, because according to GE, I was being approved for a different dishwasher. I then told the tech to stop installing it and called GE. GE had no idea where this dishwasher had come from. Then an unavailable number showed up on my cell phone and when I answered it, the woman spoke my first name and started talking about my dishwasher, stating the builder had ordered a new one. I asked her who she was twice and she would only tell me GE customer care and not her name. I have since learned her name was Julianna. She said that I had to take this dishwasher or I wouldnt have one at all. I took this as a threat. After spending countless hours on the phone with GE opening a case and discussing the issues, picking out an acceptable replacement, I was then told the builder made this decision. Not only was I thrown from person to person over a discontinued model, I was threatened, and further was told by the superintendent of construction that once the dishwasher was installed and we closed on the house, I had to handle all problems through GE. I own the dishwasher, not the builder. I registered the warranty, and I handled it through the proper channels. I feel I need an explicit apology from GE. One of their arms doesnt know what the other arm is doing. During this entire time, I had little use of my right hand and seven fractured vertebrae (for which I am permanently disabled) and had to physically wash 10 boxes of dishes that had been packed up due to our move and stand while doing it. GE has caused me property damage, stress, and severe physical pain, yet threatens me and yanks me from person to person. This is my house, my dishwasher, and this matter should have been handled directly with me, instead of inviting someone into my house that I had no connection to or knowledge of. The really sad thing is that I just purchased and had installed a $6500 water softener and reverse osmosis system for the whole house, manufactured by guess who...GE.

Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or other appliance from them. Last June 27th we bought a new home which came with all GE appliances. In fact I have 2 of these dishwashers. Once in the basement (just for low usage) and another one in the kitchen. The first day the dishwasher in the kitchen did not work and they came out and replaced it. I have had 3 other service calls on this thing and now it does not clean. Six days before Thanksgiving. I called and the lady told me no service until November 30th is available. It does not work, the first time they came out it was for a leak, second time the pump was not working and the dishwasher was not draining and now it is not cleaning. It was almost as it was my fault. It is a dishwasher - you put the dishes in and then turn it on and they should come out clean. I should not have to rinse or do anything special to make it work. We spent over 1500 dollars on each of these dishwashers and now one if not working. I did not do anything other than turn it on and expect that it should clean.I was told that they would sell me another dishwasher at a discount. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER ONE?! A real company should replace this POS and give me another one for free and it has been 15 months and I have had 2 of them in my kitchen. I can tell you if you plan on purchasing look at KitchenAid they run forever without any problems. They also did a fantastic job of support (I had it for 6 years in one house with one repair, second house they never needed to come).

This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. Cafe Refrigerator had drain plate in back of unit completely rust away, tech knew what problem was before he stepped foot in my kitchen, he told us this was common. Weve had our new over the stove microwave (GE Profile Microwave Oven PVM2170SR1SS) just over one year and the oven light went out. The owners manual has no information about how to replace the light. I called GE customer assistance office and they said it requires a technician to come to the house to replace the bulb. A service call would cost around $95 minimum. This is a ridiculous requirement to make consumers do a service call for an oven light. The owners manual does show how to replace the charcoal air filter, if you use one, by removing the plastic cover across the top of the oven with the door open. Guess what? I removed the two screws holding the plastic cover and sure enough, there was also the access to the cover to access the oven light. You just remove the one screw and the small cover plate can be removed! Be sure to turn off the power to the oven before removing the small 50w Halogen G8 light bulb (Home Depot $5.00). My complaint about GE is that they do not give the homeowner information about replacing this oven light, but instead require you to pay for a service call. The irony is that the owners manual tells you how to access the filter by removing the plastic grill and thats how you also access the panel to replace the oven light bulb. They also tell you how to replace the light bulb that provides light to your range, so it cant be a safety issue about replacing light bulbs. Requiring the consumer to request a service call for $95 just to replace the oven light, when GE could have easily put the procedure in the owners manual, is a real consumer ripoff!

Just bought a Monogram dishwasher one week ago, and the front sound barrier fell off. The service man came out, took a look, and said it was not a big deal. I questioned him why it fell off within such a short period. He stated that it was GEs policy: to make Monogram quieter than competitors, they put in sound barrier in front. However, it fell off often. Since it does not affect how the dishwasher work, GE does not believe that it is a big deal. Therefore, no need for quality control, and he will use new glue to glue it back. No guarantee that it will not fall off later... What is GE stand on the engineering products any more? The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working
The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working in June 2020, after the nuclear reactor “blew up”. Which could have been a dangerous situation. I was told by Assurant Insurance Company that it was no longer covered by the 1 year insurance policy, and if I purchased a new policy for $241.00, they would repair it or replace it. After they discovered it was not repairable, they denied the ”replace it” part and reimbursed the money for the policy. GE agreed to sell me a new microwave at a discounted price, which I agreed to. The replacement microwave was delivered damaged, in October 2020. After many calls and waiting hours on hold, service came out and said it was “not repairable“. Again, phone calls to GE Customer Relations and reexplaining the problem, I was told they did not have a microwave in stock to replace it. However, after further searching, one was found, and would be delivered. On 10/23/20, I received a phone call from the freight company that the microwave was being delivered the following day, but they had the wrong address! it was a previous address. Where that address came from is a mystery as we never had GE appliances delivered to that address. The freight company was not authorized to change the address in the system, so another call to GE. I am still waiting for a new microwave! I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have called GE, waited on hold or call-back, waited for service, and been told I have the wrong case number. I have all new GE Profile appliances, all have had service for problems. I will NEVER buy another GE appliance. Their service department and Customer Relations department is disorganized and incompetent. GE appliance are not quality products.

The dishwasher is poor quality. Top is thin, top dish rack has trouble with tall glasses. Bottom rack doesnt slide in and out well. The power cord and water cords are too short. They are 2 ft shorter than our previous model dishwasher. Top was loose when delivered and had the wrong screw in one of the holes. The hose and cords are difficult to hook up because they are so short. We cant fit as many dishes in as our previous model of the same size and the unbiased reviewers are saying its washing quality is poor. We havent had it long and hate it. Home Depot wont take returns on portable dishwashers though. Out lots of money on this. This GE is thin plastic trash that costs lots of money with no return.

My GE refrigerator is almost 30 years old. It's not a frost-free refrigerator, but frost build-up has not been a big problem. I usually defrost it twice a year. I have had no problems with it over the years, other than the light bulb burning out. I would certainly buy a GE refrigerator again.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

We bought 6 new GE appliances when we purchased a new home. The reason: my husband worked for GE for 35 years and we wanted tell our friends how happy we are with them! Now, we are sorry we have to complain about the dishwasher (Model #GDWF160R1OSS). The only good thing about it is how quiet it is. We have tried many different soap products, a little soap, more soap, Rinse Aid, half clean or nearly clean dishes placed inside, only to have the glassware looking horrid, not clean and cloudy. Service man offered suggestions but none have worked. The stainless steel interior also looks horrid because of streaks. So much for energy efficiency when we have to wash all our glassware by hand to get the residue of soap off them. Another dishwasher we have had for 25 yrs. does an excellent job - so dont blame it on the phosphate removal from soap.

Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since I didnt, I have never been so disappointed in an appliance purchase as my new GE dishwasher! Not only are some of the dishes & silverware coming out more dirty than they went in, it takes a ridiculously long time for a cycle. And if there are more than a couple of tablespoons of water on the door, it will pee out onto the floor when the door is closed! Not to mention that there is junk stuck to the floor just inside dishwasher, under the door, after the cycle has run! Yet the worst part is how dirty dishes are after even a Sani Wash cycle! Sometimes, the detergent lid is still closed. Sometimes its open, but the detergent is still there. Even then, dishes may be cleaner in appearance that time, than when the detergent is gone. A water glass, may have gritty stuff - not just detergent stuck and hiding down inside, or more obvious all over inside the glass. I have spent the past year experimenting with various things: detergents, amounts of detergents, arrangements of dishes, heat of water, pressure of water, rinsing dishes before cycle, etc. Glass and pottery normally fare better than plastics, but again the plastic may have started cleaner than they come out! The dealer has been out three times, finding nothing obvious the DW itself, nor anything I have done wrong. He has been told there is a kit that would fix the performance problem, but he cant purchase it, nor can his distributor. I have been told the length of cycle is because our government regulates the amount of water used. So my question is, then its okay to use more electricity?! Its totally embarrassing to serve someone a drink in a glass that is found not clean near the end of the drink! And I, too, have an old 12-years-dishwasher that still works! It was even a cheaper brand. I never had to think where pieces were arranged in that dishwasher. I just thought, in my newly built house, I should have new appliances!

Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

I bought this Microwave JVM3160 on December 2016, after six month the handle door broke but it was replaced as part of the warranty. By January 2018 (no more Warranty) it began tripping the circuit breaker. I change the power source for a dedicate circuit only for the microwave 20 AMP. The microwave blew its own fuse. I replaced its fuse. Then it blew the 20 AMP circuit breaker. That was enough. This microwave went to the garbage after 1 year and 2 month of use.

GE had recalls on models 8500 and 8700 due to the motor catching fire but not my 8600 which is right in between. So besides it being the worst working dishwasher weve owned by not even cleaning well, the unit catches fire and almost burns my house down and GE wants to give me a credit toward buying another fire trap as opposed to replacing it because its 5 years old. I expect appliances to last more than 5 years and not catch on fire. No more GEs for me!

My GE Profile Dishwasher is a plain Jane without the bells and whistles, yet is a trusted, working appliance. Honestly, the only beef I have with this model is that plastic articles do not dry completely unless placing the controls on Heated Dry, and leaving the dishes in the dishwasher for the entire drying cycle. I have had my kids place some dishes in the dishwasher, caked in day old food. I left the plates in the dishwasher, hoping to teach my kids a lesson about rinsing off their dishes before placing them in. Imagine my surprise when after running the dishwasher through its normal cycle, the plates came out spotlessly clean! Impressive!

I have a GE microwave oven. The paint inside the door is peeling off and has been for quite some time but I never got around to calling them. I recently decided to purchase a new microwave and use my old one downstairs. I called GE to ask them about this problem as I didnt want to have this same issue with my new microwave. GE told me they would do nothing to help me fix the problem and I need to stop using it because it is a safety hazard. I told them the microwave still worked fine and if I need to stop using it, does GE offer any compensation for something that is obviously a defect. I was told, no, GE will do nothing. I told them Id even be happy with some touch up paint but the lady was so rude, she would just sit there and not say anything until Id ask, Are you still there? Granted my microwave is several years old but because of this door defect, Im being told basically I use it anymore even though it still works. I need to just throw it away. I have a new GE microwave on order but thanks to their horrible customer service will be cancelling that order and buying another brand. I also will not ever purchase another GE product. I told them this and they said, fine. Obviously they dont give a crap about their customers.

With all the negative issues GE experiences online with regard to the Cafe Series, I give them a solid 8 for responsiveness and taking care of the situation. Perhaps ours is a rarity, but if you approach them logically and with facts, they seem willing to work with the consumer. Heres hoping the system cleans better now too!
