I spoke to someone in the customer relations department after contacting GE cares. Our GE refrigerator purchased 16 months ago had malfunctioned. Within minutes of explaining the problem GE located my file in their system. They immediately extended the manufacturer warranty as a courtesy. I didn’t have an extended warranty but GE arranged to have the service technician come to my house to repair, what he discovered was a broken fan, in less than 24 hours at no cost. While the likelihood of a fairly new appliance needing repair is rare, the service technician did explain that repairs needed with GE appliances does keep him very busy. I am thankful for their CARE and saving my Thanksgiving turkey!

If you plan to use your dishes for food or drink or if your pets eat food from bowls, dont buy a GE dishwasher if you expect items to get clean. Seems entirely incapable of producing grit-free clean dishes. Is particularly noticeable on the glasses. And I clean the filters all the time (manual recommends periodically) and I am taking a break from cleaning said filters to tell the world that GE Dishwashers are junk.

We selected this microwave because it has a toaster and baking feature as our small kitchen would be better without a toaster oven taking up space. Turns out user must change accessories from glass to metal when using the toaster and baking feature. The space needed to store accessories rendered the space saving concept as useless. Also, the toasting is slow and does not quite equal what a toaster oven accomplishes. Also the baking/convection mode is so noisy, one cannot hear radio/tv. 30 minutes for a baked potato is a long time for excessive noise. We bought from Kitchen Solutions in the Bronx about May 2014.

I have many other things to do other than to voice my extreme and total displeasure with your company. GE - Huge Company, Small Customer Service. We purchased a GE microwave oven from ABT electronics in about August, 2013. In October, 2014 we had issues with the fan remaining on while the door was closed. Called GE. They said the unit was out of warranty by about 2 months. We felt that was a short period of time and that we called as soon as the issue became chronic.Had three service calls where the techs tried to fix a simple problem. First tech walked through our living room with dirty boots. Didnt fix the problem. Messed up our carpet. Bad attitude. Second call, two techs couldnt fix the problem. Said it was a door issue and they made some superficial adjustments. Problem not fixed. Third call, two more techs. Same result. In the meantime I tried to convince GE that I didnt want another service call. I wanted a new unit. No luck. I was offered a discount to purchase a new unit for around $300 or so. Im sure they spent more money on service calls than a new unit would have cost in terms of dollars and the reputation of one of the worlds biggest companies. Now, the fan for the unit stays on almost all the time after the cooking is done. Is this the best GE can do? If so, thats pretty sad. Tried to reach someone in sales who would get it. No such luck. DONT BUY GE AND IF YOU HAVE ISSUES DONT RELY ON A FACELESS, CLUELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HELP IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY.

My purpose is to inform the public that GE will not stand by their stainless steel dishwasher appliance on rust. In less than 10 months the outside of our door has rust spots. I used only soap and water and cloth to clean as door does not get dirty and our water in Hawaii is safe and drinkable. Does not require water filters. GE CS said, We will only cover for 30 days after purchase, and cleaning products used and most likely our water type caused this issue.

I have a GE microwave. It stated that I had a 10 year warranty on the magnetron on the computer website. Now GE says its not warranted. I have owned this microwave for a little over a year and its pile of **. All they wanted to do is sell you their products and they dont stand behind what they make anymore. Nothing is made to last in this time and age. I will never buy GE products from Home Depot again.

Our microwave, model number JVM1750DP1BB, was manufactured May 2011. On Monday, Dec. 30, I was heating a bagel when the small plastic hook holding the rack caught fire. The interior of the microwave burned, but I was able to put it out before it spread too far. I shudder to think what might have happened it I had been in another room. Im irritated because I keep reading that this is a common problem. Im irritated because MY HOUSE COULD HAVE BURNED DOWN. Im irritated because it seems like GE isnt doing a great job at making it right. Ive attached a photo below, showing where the plastic pin burned. I can say that Im shopping for a new over-the-range micro, and it wont come from GE.

A week ago I placed a microwave dish in the microwave oven. The second rack was in place with the small microwave dish on it. When it started I noted flames from the rack bracket. The plastic on the rack had melted. I removed the rack and have not replaced it. This morning I place a microwavable cup in to reheat the coffee, and once again flame erupted.I am calling GE but wanted to let people know of this problem. I have had this appliance for a month. GE sent out a repairman. I overheard him tell someone that when there was cavity they considered it not repairable. Whomever he spoke with asked for pictures and from that deemed it repairable. I would not let them repair it as a fire with flames hot enough to melt the bracket and burning an opening in the inside shell is not something I want in my home. I received no satisfaction from GE as they just follow the Party line, I doubt any of them would want to take my repaired oven in their homes. I will dispose of it and purchase a new one from a different company.

We had purchased the first listed model of dishwasher (Model PTD7505SSF8SS)
We had purchased the first listed model of dishwasher (Model PTD7505SSF8SS) and installed it on Aug 27/16. It worked for a total of 13 days and broke down on Sept 9/16. After a good deal of phone tag - a technician looked at it and said no less than 3 internal components had failed, the unit needed to be replaced. We were without the unit from Sept 9/16 until Dec 23/17 when the new replacement unit (Model PTD845SSJOSS) was installed. It worked for a total of 20 days and broke down on Jan 12/17. More phone tag... Tech looked at it and found a number of issues (motherboard, door switch, etc...), in addition - it had been leaking water under the dishwasher for the time it was in service. (All 20 days! What a record!)When a dishwasher leaks upstairs... It doesnt go well for the drywall ceiling downstairs. (The rep at GE was cold and calculated informing me that is what insurance is for!) Im not sure that is what someone who spent $1,699.00 for a GE product (in good faith of a reputable product) expects to be told by the individual who has the ability to make things right? At any rate, this is what you can expect from the trained professionals at GE. When they finally got around to looking at my file... They decided to simply replace the motherboard in the hopes it will fix the leak also.I would have liked a refund at this point (not likely) so I requested yet another replacement (given the issue of water leaking), they absolutely refused. As of this date Feb 2/17 we are still without a dishwasher. Goes without saying - no more GE products will enter our home and I will share, with everyone I can, the caring and kind words of support I experienced from the top level at GE.

I had trouble from the beginning; the dishes came out hazy. When I called GE, they said to use the recommended detergent; I did. The dishes came out hazy and smelled like detergent. They messed around long enough with that and getting someone out to fix the controls, which did not work properly, until enough time lapsed and I could not get a refund. The dishwasher turned itself on after a power outage. It was not running when the power went out and was running non-stop for God knows how long before it was noticed. This happened at Thanksgiving time, and they had service out at 6 weeks so I had to do Thanksgiving dishes by hand. After that, they postponed for another 2 weeks. I got a replacement dishwasher, thanks to the Home Depot Manager. The dishes come out stinky and hazy; sometimes, there is visible soap residue on the glassware. I even ran the dishes through a second no detergent cycle and still had residue on the dishes. The controls do not work. We have to turn the power on and close the door 3 or 4 times before it will come on. We are afraid to leave the circuit breaker on when we leave as we are unsure if it will start on its own like the first one did. It is also the worst designed layout for loading any dishes. This is totally unacceptable as soap residue causes intestinal difficulties, and you should not have to be afraid that your dishwasher will take on a life of its own and start. I highly recommend you do not waste your money on this dishwasher. GE has extremely poor customer support. Home Depot support was great. This makes two GE Profile Dishwasher in less than a year and two strike outs. They will not get the chance for a third out. We are getting a KitchenAid.

I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe appliances (dishwasher and range). After a few months, it stopped working and ge sent a repairman to fix it under warranty. He took it apart, replaced the touchpad panel, but told me that the old panel was still good and that I could keep it for the future in case I needed it. And I did. It stopped working a year ago. I took the whole machine apart, put in the original touchpad, and it worked. Until about a week ago. I went away on the Fourth, and when I returned 3 days later, I had the same problem for the third time. I just called ge service and was told that the replacement for the touchpad is $600. When I started to say that I could buy two Microwaves for that amount, the ge service person cut me off and asked if she could help me with anything else. Rude. In addition to this, the Cafe Range ($3000) has three unusable knobs because they were made of cheap PLASTIC and are cracked. They just spin and turn nothing on. When the third one broke, my wife had turned on the power boil and was unable to turn it off until I came home 2 hrs later. A huge FIRE HAZARD!! To replace the six knobs is, you guessed it, $300. I could buy an inexpensive stove for that. I have purposely used ge in lower letters because that is the way I feel about their appliances and their service.

I purchased my GE Microwave about a year and a half ago. It has served me with flying colors till yesterday. To explain, I was boiling a small plastic pan of water for some rice. I have done this many times in the past. In the middle of the cooking cycle I heard a loud bang from the microwave. I stopped the cooking cycle and opened the door. To my surprise the glass turntable had shattered into several pieces. I cleaned out all the broken glass and tested the microwave. It seems to be working perfectly with the exception of the glass turntable. A new one was ordered. No further action is required. This is just an information for GE.

However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months
However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months later, a few days before Thanksgiving 2015. GE claimed it was out-of-warranty, and I would have to pay $99 to have a technician look at it, and would charge for repairs. We are stuck with the GE Monogram Microwave as it is a built-in unit and our cabinet is built around it. So we went and got a new one from Best Buy. When the new one came and when we removed it from the box, it had a large dent in it - a very large one. It clearly indicates a shoddy QC job, as the unit should not have left the factory with such an obvious dent. We asked BEST BUY to replace it, but a new one is not going to come till after Christmas. So it was 2 strikes against GE Microwave ovens for me.We spoke to GE and they were not very sympathetic, and amazingly did not even apologize for the inconvenience caused!! They just stuck to their out-of-warranty mantra, which I understand. But then the occurrence of a second event with another GE Microwave, and the inconvenience of sending back a big dented one was also not acknowledged or perhaps even understood by their CS representative. So it is strike 3 against GE Appliances for me.I would never recommend GE microwaves and was totally disappointed with the Customer service of the GE Appliance division. I also have GE Cooktop and two GE wall ovens and shudder to think what will happen if they should break down. Just sharing a sad experience that holds some lessons for me and my family and friends. (Rethink buying GE Appliances.)

I purchased a new GE over the oven microwave to replace a 10-year old Spacemaker unit. After three weeks of use with no issues, the unit overheated excessively during a normal use. The heat was so intense that the pegs that hold the racks melted causing a severe burn on my sons thumb. I unplugged the unit fearing further injuries and/or fire. I bought the dishwasher July 2020. I’ve had 9 service calls and multiple calls to GE and my dishwasher still doesn’t work correctly. It doesn’t wash or dry thoroughly. At one point it wouldn’t even turn on. They came and the wires melted together. It was installed by a professional. Now I’m worried it a fire hazard. I’ve had to leave work early each time. At times they have not shown up when they were supposed to or shown up when they are not supposed to. Every time you call you are on hold for at an hour. When you do get through they pass you on to someone else who doesn’t care or know what to do. Ive been told several times that should I get a new dishwasher after this many calls but I’m told by the service person that is not true. Also if the repair person deems it unrepairable can be replaced. The repair person said that’s not true. Now the its out of warranty and they are trying to charge me for the service call. So many of the features of my past microwave are not on this GE. For example the vegetable good, built in sensory knew when vegetables were cooked. GE Profile microwave Model: PEB7226SF1SS came as part of the builder installation. In the first year had issues with the microwave not starting intermittently and had to call GE support who sent in a technician who had to work on the door alignment and the switch was the problem which said to have fixed. About 2.5 year from purchase the heating seemed to be irregular which we did not take much notice and then it stopped working completely. We called GE support and did get the usual routine of the product being out of warranty and have to pay for the technician. While scheduling they realized they did not have a their own service person in the vicinity and was advised to reach out to local service person.Local technician diagnosed that the magnetron has gone bad and advised most manufacturers have 10 years warranty on the magnetron as they are supposed to last for a long time and I should reach out to GE. Having reached out to GE support again to our surprise were advised that unlike most manufacturers this product did not have 10 year magnetron warranty. Customer service, part service and customer relations kept redirecting to each other. GE does not provide an option to sell the replacement magnetron to the customer and now want their authorized center to be engaged and paid again to have the part ordered and installed. Disappointed with GE product quality, their stand on warranty compared to their competition and their service which has given me run around and no solution. I have written to them asking for solution which they havent responded yet.

Replacement plastic handles - just two pieces of injection molded plastic - selling from other companies for as little as $10 are $130.00. $130.00! Sparks are seen just behind the waveguide cover where the magnetron is located. It seems to be a common problem with GE microwave ovens from what I have researched. The microwave has now stopped working and just makes an odd noise like groan or urrrrr. It’s just over 2 years old. Its a piece of **. It should last 10 years or more, like my last 2 have. I gave away our Sanyo because it wouldnt fit the decor of our new kitchen - wished I never had.

My less than a year old GE microwave stopped working last week. My AT&T phone service died so I had to make repair arrangements online. Guy was here this morning. My microwave’s main board is fried. It does not conform to Repair Guy’s published schematics. Repair Tech could not upload new data to it. Repair guy did order three new parts including a main board. GE told Repair Guy that mainboard delivery ETA UNKNOWN. After three hours here repair tech left and told me to call GE customer care. Believe it or not, two hours on telephone with GE. First you need to talk to a customer service rep that cannot help you. They then determine you need a Customer Advocate. Then they need to input data on your file for the Customer Advocate. Then they need to transfer you to that department. Then you have to get a case number assigned. Then you give someone all the serial numbers and model numbers again. Then the Customer Advocate (CA) takes the call. The CA does not speak English as you and I speak English. After the CA puts me on hold to verify the purchase, then the appointment, then the tech and then the order they actually speak to me. In my case, the mainboard part is not available on CA’s computer. The CA has to electronically contact the parts department to find out if the part is in this universe. If the part can be delivered to my Repair Guy in Jackson, GA within 14 BUSINESS days from the date of the inquiry I have to take the part and wait for repair. In the event the part cannot be delivered in 14 days CA will start a process to get me a new microwave. The parts department has up to 48 hours to respond to the CA. When asked what happens if no response occurs in 48 hours, I was told, That never happens. It is the Christmas Holiday and I anticipated guests. My husband is disabled and his meals are pre-made frozen so I will have to decompose them and heat them on the cooktop. GE could care less about those issues. So after waiting five days for repair I have no working microwave. Someone told me not to replace my GE with a GE, but I did not listen. It is December, holidays, no microwave is an aggravation that I thought paying for a GE product would alleviate. So, on January 2nd I might get an answer. Part possible or new appliance COULD be ordered and delivered by someone sometime.

Fact no. 1: On 02/25/07, I supplanted a burnt-out 12-year old Kenmore microwave oven. Regretfully, my replacement of choice is a GE JES1456WJ02 unit acquired at Home Depot in Cumberland. At that stage, my spouse was afflicted with an advanced case of Parkinsons disease, and eventually, I had her concerned caregiver reporting having found chips of paint spread on food extracted from the new oven. From that point onward, I established a close watch of the infamous appliance, after confirming that the chipping paint originated from the roof of the GE oven. But I withheld from filing a claim with GE at the time because my wifes health deterioration absorbed all my attention.Fact no. 2: But on 12/12/09, a couple of months after my beloved one passed away, I decided to take the oven to a Home Depot claim department where they immediately agreed to replace the defective unit for another one of similar characteristics. With a sigh of relief, thinking that I had taken care of the problem, my assumption was incorrect.Fact no. 3: Today, 10/28/11 in fact, I discovered chips of paint floating over a plate of soup extracted from the GE oven. I was aghast! I couldnt believe it! Still, further inspection determined that the lousy internal coat of paint is likewise peeling off from this monstrosity appliance manufactured by GE.

I owned a previous GE dishwasher 4 years ago and would give it excellent ratings. I bought a newer top of the line version when I purchased a new home. It simply fails to clean dishes. Wet food that any dishwasher would remove, remained on the dishes. The drying cycle never dried the dishes. We have to hand wash the dishes now and have stopped using the dishwasher after 3 days of ownership because of health hazard. I called Lowes about this within days of the install. Lowes sent out the installer who claimed the machine was installed properly. Then Lowes scheduled a GE repairman to come to the home. We waited all day for him to arrive for a morning appointment. He never came. Lowes stepped up and is replacing the dishwasher with a non-GE product. I would not touch a GE product again given the lack of service and commitment to their product. I feel confident with Lowes, but not with GE - their ethics from engineering, manufacturing and servicing are very suspect with us.

An unknown continual leak has caused substantial black mold, warped sub flooring and cracking of very expensive Saltillo tile of which weve had to remove. GE should be accountable and will be. This GE dishwasher is not designed to last. The exterior outlook is unfortunately poor. It is not water conservative, makes noise during the cycle, does not dry dishes very well which inevitably means a poor conductor of heat. I will not buy anything like this product again! I wish I can get something that is economical and energy efficient this time around. I have spent unnecessary amount of monies trying to get a good dishwasher that can serve the purpose over the years and still cannot get one. GE Profile Dishwasher Model GLD4400N10WW - This was the second GE dishwasher I have purchased and it will be the last. When guests come to my home, they ask whats wrong with my dishwasher when helping me in the kitchen. The racks are bubbled and there is a burn mark by the heating element from overheating. The dishes have always been too hot to unload afterwards that you have to leave the door open for ten minutes before touching them, or you will burn your hands. I purchased this dishwasher from Lowes on 2/23/2008 for $368.88. I see that there is a recall on the dishwasher now, and it is only worth a repair. Quite frankly, my dishwasher is all ruined inside and it needs more than just a new heating element. It isnt worth it to me. It is very noisy and sounds awful when I use it. I will not be putting any money into replacement parts at this point, and I am very disappointed with my purchase. A dishwasher should last more than 3.5 years. My dishwasher should be replaced for free, not just get a new element. My husband is a licensed builder and he will not be using GE either, after this experience. I am enclosing a photo of the burns.

Horrible experience. I wouldnt recommend GE appliances to anyone. My husband and I ordered our items on the day of closing on our new Home. Well the items were scheduled to arrive Aug 9, 2017. Every other Appliance arrived from Samsung, but my GE dishwasher was a no show. I received a phone call hours later stating they didnt know it was on Backorder and I wont receive it until Aug 11, 2017.I spoke with supervisor Krista because I didnt understand the lack of respect far as not knowing if the 11 was a good day or even so much as an apology! Until I expressed how upset I was! 2 hours later I received a automatic message stating the items it still on Backorder and now its not coming until Aug 17th! I spoke with Home Depot who apparently has nothing to do with the vendor handling and conducting business this way and now I have to go return the product & order a new product.I dont even want GE appliances AT ALL. After calling today being put on hold 30 mins still no supervisor came to the phone. Terrible Customer service and lack of communication of the vendor. Ill be sure to highly encourage my friends and family to not support this Brand! Feeling upset and totally let down. I know this cant be how such a popular brand conducts business.

In early 2017, we bought all of our GE Profile appliances including the dishwasher through our builder as part of building a new home. Love the slate exterior. Love the whisper quiet of the appliance. I do NOT like the way it cleans my dishes. Most of the time, the soap isnt even distributed. The soap compartment is opened but most of the soap is still there. Ive followed the instructions on loading to ensure my dishes arent blocking the water that is supposed to spray up and help distribute soap. Even though I select the dry function, my dishes are sopping wet when the cycle is finished. We have to catch the end of cycle and crack the dishwasher open to let the steam escape in order to cut down on the wet. Even then, we still have to dry dishes to put them up. We have a water softener and have verified its working so I know thats not causing these issues. I would not recommend this dishwasher.

Sometime in the 1970s, my mother bought all new GE appliances; a refrigerator, a kitchen range-microwave combo and a dishwasher. After her death my husband and I moved into her house and continued to use these appliances until 2007. The refrigerator and dishwasher are still going strong as of now... October 2014. The refrigerator only needed the drainage line cleaned. The range began to have some electrical shortage problems and rather than try to repair (which is what we should have done with both appliances), we decided to replace the refrigerator and range/microwave. We bought new GE appliances; a GE refrigerator (my brother put the old one in his shop), GE microwave and GE range. The new refrigerators icemaker would not work property when we got it and the microwave (Model #JVM2070SK02) quit early this year (big difference in the old microwave at 30 some years use and my new one at only 7 years use). Because my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I was the only caretaker, I was not able to address the malfunctioning icemaker immediately. In fact, because of my husbands hospitalization, I wasnt even at home during that year enough to use the icemaker. WOW! What a ripoff GE is selling to consumers. My complaints wont solve my problems nor the problems experienced by other people who bought these defective appliances but it helps to vent my anger. Just recently a small leak in the waste-water drain hose (easy to replace) sent me scurrying to find a new dishwasher but when considering the replacement of my 1970s dishwasher and the reliability of my newer appliances, I decided that my 1970s dishwasher will outlast anything I could replace it with. So I decided to replace the waste-water drain hose myself. What a sad appliance market we have in the US when buyers have to replace newly purchased appliances anywhere from a few days to a few short years after purchase. I think appliance companies intentionally produce inferior, unfixable products so consumers will replace their inferior ones with new inferior models thus keeping up sales. Do we have a choice? I lived before dishwashers and microwaves and I can live without either now. I would prefer not to go back to wood cook-stove and an icebox but I may not have a choice (I actually have an icebox if needed). Is there any way to hold companies responsible for the products they produce? If anyone out there has had longevity of 10 years or more use from a newer appliance line, that is appliances made since 2000... Please share the producers name with rest of us. GE isnt what it used to be and neither are many other US brand name appliances.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. The panel is now dead and my only option, having tried the fixes on Youtube, is to invest money starting at $108 for an inspection or buy a new Microwave. My entire experience with this product has been a big disappointment as I also own a GE Cafe range, fridge, and dishwasher.

I bought a dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago, along with GE fridge, microwave, convection oven for my remodeled kitchen. It was less than a year old, when the dishwasher control board went. GE fixed it for no charge, as it was under warranty. They sent the part, and the repairman was great. A little over a year later, the same thing happened. It is no longer under warranty. I spoke with a supervisor about this. This dishwasher was just over 2 years old, and again, the same thing happened. They were very nice, and sent a man over, after sending the same part in the mail, and again, he was very nice, and I was called to see if everything was to my satisfaction, and it was. I was not charged. It is now a few months later, and the machine will not begin the cycle. The lights are on, blink several times, then finally go off altogether. I did the troubleshooting suggestions, including turning it off via the circuit breaker to reboot, and still nothing. I am so angry. This is a relatively new machine. I am so disgusted that I will never buy another GE appliance, and strangely, I have stock in the company. Its a small amount, but stock nonetheless. What a shame. Now, I have to spend a lot of money on a repair that I should not have to. GE charges $90 just to walk in the door. I was told the second time it would be over $200 to repair a 2 year old machine. It is not the customer support nor repairmen that I am so angry about, rather, it is the ** machine, which is not even 3 years old! The thing is, I always try my best to buy American products, even cars. Before I call in a repairman, I am going dishwasher shopping, in case I decide that it is simply not worth an over $200 repair. I will not be looking at GE.

I purchased a slate dishwasher in Oct, 2014. After the third cycle the soap would not dispense (door would not open) or the soap dribbled out and remained running down the door. I had to run the cycle twice to get the dishes clean and for the soap to dissolve. I called the store at which it was purchased. A tech came out and replaced a part. Did not work. After the second time, when the tech said nothing was wrong, even though he saw the soap running down the front door, I called GE. They sent a tech from a different store. After the eighth repair I told them I wanted it replaced. They had already replaced the soap dispenser twice, the control board and even told me to move the baskets (ridiculous). They also suggested I run hot water before the cycle! They said if it was repairable they could not replace it.We went back and forth with this and they finally agreed to replace it. Got the new slate dishwasher in July, 2015. After two cycles I started having the exact same issues! I will not deal with GE or ever buy another of their appliances. I will tell everyone I know not to deal with this company. Quality is terrible and service was extremely frustrating, having to take off work numerous times and wait hours for the service person. I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have had. This month will be a year and a half. The oven stopped heating so being a DIY person, I pulled the oven out and took it to my workshop to see if it was something I could repair. Inside the front panel was a very helpful schematic of the whole oven. Using the troubleshooting step listed on the paper, I found that the Magnetron tube had gone out. So I went to my owners manual and found that the tube had a four-year warranty on it so I called General Electric consumer relations to have the part replaced. First I had to fight with them because they said it was only covered for a year. After about an hour and a half on the phone and giving her the publication number on the manual, she agreed that it was indeed covered for four years. So she said that she would replace the part and she would even send a technician out to install it at no charge. I was very happy at this point. She said that she would ship the part to me next day with UPS and the tech would be out the following day to replace it. So far so good, till the next day when the part did not arrive. I called back in to General Electric consumer relations and spoke with a man this time and he told me that she had canceled the order that is why I did not receive it, and he couldnt see why. So he looked at the comments she had made the day before and did see that she said she would replace it and send a tech. The tech was supposed to be here the next day and I had no part for him to install. The man said he would place the order and have it shipped to me by the next day no later than 10 a.m. and the tech would be here between 1 to 5 p.m. Great! Until the next day and again no part when they said it would be there. Again with the call only to find out that it was scheduled to arrive next day guaranteed by 7 p.m. The tech is supposed to be there with in the next few hours and I wouldnt have the part. I called Fed-Ex and sweet-talked the lady into getting a hold of her driver to see if she could get to me ASAP. Bingo, next thing you know I have the part, the tech calls and the part is replaced. Oh boy, the big gaping hole above my stove is finally going to be filled once again. (I promise I am coming to the end.) After reinstalling the oven, I found out that it was taking longer to heat than when I got it, and it has a brand new Magnetron in it.Again with the call to General Electric consumer relations to set up another tech to come out and check it out. So the following day, the same tech arrives and puts a cup of just barely cool water in it and puts it in for 30 seconds, pulls the water out and says it is working just like it is supposed to and leaves. Well, again I called General Electric consumer relations to let them know what has transpired, but this time I asked to speak with someone higher up the food chain. I then spoke to a lady and she said that she would set up another tech to come out and check it out, and if it resulted in the same way that she would replace the unit with a new one. The following day, the same tech calls me and said that the oven is working the best that it could so I should call back to consumer relations as he did and set it up for a new one to be sent in its place. So I called once again and was not able to speak with the same lady and the only thing she could do is send me a voucher for $250 laying around for a new oven, but I would have to purchase one and send the voucher in with the receipt to get a refund. I told her that I did not have a spare $250 dollars around to go buy a new oven and then wait for the refund to get to me. So I asked that she have the lady that said she would replace it to call me back to straighten this problem out. Finally the following week, the lady calls me back and said, This is the best that I can do, due to me voiding the warranty. I asked, What? She said that the tech that spoke with me said that because I had hard wired in the unit to the house wiring, it was receiving low voltage so she couldnt do any better than that. I told her that was the most asinine comment I have ever heard coming from a field tech and asked her whether he went to a school backyard Techs-r-Us. I asked if she would have the tech call me to explain. I also gave her some friendly advice that she should not use that comment to anyone else for fear of someone laughing at her. We agreed to have the voucher sent if that was the best she could do. I will not buy another GE appliance again! I have purposely not mentioned anyones name because it was the experience, not the person that I spoke with.

The protective lining inside the microwave is coming off in a number of areas and the metal is visible and rusted. Is it hazardous to use the oven which is otherwise working? I contacted the Consumer relations department of GE and was told that its not repairable and offered only $25 as rebate to buy another one from them or any other retail store. I visited a couple of merchants, online and in their store, shopping for a similar product and got a price range between $250-450 plus $110 installation fee for a similar OTC microwave oven. We have all other appliances at home from GE and this does not give a good confidence about the products from GE.

Ive had a GE Dishwasher for over 6 years and it works great. The issue is every 2 years or so, the plastic over the metal rods that make up the plate racks wear away and rust the underlying metal. The first time GE charged me about 200.00 for the racks, where the dishwasher only cost 250.00. The second time they replaced for free and now this third time, GE is being absolutely absurd not replacing these racks. My concern for mine is the health issues arising from having rusted parts in the washer. I believe this to be a manufacturers defect and could be happening in 1000s of these dishwashers. Metal should not go into water!!! GE should gladly replace my racks but theyre giving me a major problem, like take our offer or dont bother us. Please see the attached pictures and hopefully this doesnt happen to your dishwashers.

GE is a very reliable name brand with history to back it up. I’ve used their washing machines for years and only changed out once due to newer features. I had Thebes first washer for at least 10 years, maybe a little more. It only needed one part replaced, that was the capacitor, otherwise it was still usable. I am not an in depth handy person but I will read and do my research and found directions doable. Additionally, I found the service help desk very informative and that’s how I discovered it was the capacitor that had gone bad after washing clothes for so many years, and believe me, I did a lot of cycles with my kids and family. I feel I got more than my money's worth. Lastly, I’m still using their products to this day. I may not have the frequency because we are empty nesters but I still believe in their products,

We purchased our GE Cafe stainless steel dishwasher in May of 2012. Periodically, it leaks around the bottom of the door. I have to put a plastic container on the floor to catch the water. This is bad enough and very disappointing, but the next and most important issue I have with it is the fact that it doesnt clean properly. I always, each and every load, rewash 3 to 4 items. The stainless handles also get very hot to the touch, which isnt very safe for a toddler. If I had the strength, Id pick it up and throw it out the back door. A dishwasher is designed to do one thing, wash dishes; its not a difficult concept. It is supposed to make life easier, not harder.

Today I heated some spaghetti sauce in my microwave and it splashed, so I wiped it out. My microwave is built in and was pretty new and in the house when we bought it 4 years ago. It is in the base counter so I have to reach down to clean it. l havent had a problem with it but when I wiped the inside top I felt bumps and when I looked at the cloth to see what was on it, there was paint on it. That has never happened before so I of course looked and there is a fair amount of peeling paint in one spot. I have had microwave ovens for many years. Never had this problem with any other brand. What is that?? Can it be fixed? Is it dangerous???

I called and emailed GE about a microwave that is in my summer home. Its probably been used a total of 15 hours. They suggested a tech. I asked how much and they told me about $95. I said it died, why not replace? They told me they will give a good discount, yada, yada. As I point out, now I have to install it again so whos going to pay for that? They keep stalling and Im still waiting. I also have over $8,000 in GE appliances. I guess I will not buy another. They do not stand behind their products.

The little trap door which releases soap stopped opening when the GE top-of-the-line Profile dishwasher was one week past its warranty. Because of the design, all kinds of crud collects under the hinged door, meaning there is ALWAYS an odor unless we get down, hands and knees, to scrub it out. Features are fine -- as long as they work. Having a dishwasher that doesnt even dispense soap and cleanser isnt worth much, limiting us to the automatic feed with shine liquid. Stainless steel outside is impossible to keep clean. There are streaks and blotches within minutes of polishing with Sheela Shine. Suspect it has something to do with the humidity where we live, but it shouldnt happen. I find it strange that GE is perpetually sending me warranty extension offers for my refrigerator (which never fails), but nary an offer for the dishwasher or microwave/convection oven in the Profile line which have each needed repairs twice in the three years since purchase.

GE brags about employing its own service technicians yet, when I called to schedule an appointment to fix our Advantium 120 microwave (3 years old), they told me that unless I provided proof of purchase to the technician, he would charge me even for parts under warranty such as the magnetron tube. This in spite of the fact that they have all the purchase information at their fingertips, as I reported when we registered our purchase. They even told me our date of purchase, had our address, email address, etc. They dismissed my suggestion that an email from them to me that I could show the technician should suffice. After 3 years and severe family health issues, I have sadly misplaced the proof of purchase, not realizing that registering the appliance for warranty provided no real benefit; not even proof that I didnt steal the thing. I am saddened that a company of the former stature of GE would stoop so low to avoid a legitimate warranty repair.

They do not stand behind their products. The products are poorly made and dont last. Ive had several dishwashers over the years. This is the first GE and it will be the last. I have purchased a GE microwave/convection oven 7 months ago. A month ago, the control panel broke down and it would not turn on. I called up customer service and a technician was sent after a week. They have diagnosed it and the motherboard needed to be replaced. The said part was ordered and I was told it would be delivered in 2-3 days and a service will be scheduled in a week. A week came and no parts showed up. I have called up customer advocate and they assured me the said part will be delivered in time for the service appointment.Unfortunately, when they came, the said parts have not been delivered and I was given the lame excuse of systems failure; the request has not gone through their system. So the technician assured me that he will put in an overnight request for the said parts and the oven could be fixed within the week. He even gave me his work and cell number for me to call if I have any inquiries. But he never picks up or even returns my calls. So another service appointment was scheduled and parts were delivered, only to find out that it was the wrong parts, supposedly for another customer and for a different microwave model. Its really frustrating when people keep on reassuring that they are going to get it done, but has done nothing but lip service. Its been over a month and my microwave is still a broken microwave. I have learned my lesson and will never again in my life time purchase a GE appliance. PS: I should have listened to the Home Depot guy that sold me this microwave.

In late March, we placed a service call under GEs one year warranty. The outcome - a gasket repair. Within a week or two, the door began to drip from both the right/left bottom. With having three teens, I figured someone opened the door and released some water. Well, that just wasnt the cause. Shortly over the next few days, the leak was consistent and I placed a service call to GE on 4/19. The customer representative offered, instead of a service call, to order some panels that fit it the bottom of the dishwasher. I stated clearly that our one year warranty was up on 4/25 and if this does not work, would GE address the issue with a service call? Answer was yes. Within a few weeks, I began to worry when I did not receive the panels. A call to GE was made; however, no documentation was noted of the call made on 4/19. However, GE stated the information might be in parts department, but regardless now, that call was made after one year warranty, extended warranty would fix the issue. Long story short, the extended warranty states problem initiated under GE and GE states the extended warranty is responsible because the call was made outside the one year warranty. I expressed that GE never fulfilled responsibility as GE did not even notify us that panels were not available for our unit. In the meantime, I am the one out of a working dishwasher. Now I know $539 may not be a lot to invest, but we feel the loss. The frustration and lack of responsibility to correct the repair is just beyond me. GE is responsible. Oh and did I share that lack of communication with GE is horrible? A promised call within 12-24 hours just doesnt happen. Again, I know most would say its not worth the frustration, but it makes me sad that GE and Assurant Warranty company can get away with what I know is wrong. Weve learned from this ordeal. No more GE products in our household.

Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or oth
Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or other appliance from them. Last June 27th we bought a new home which came with all GE appliances. In fact I have 2 of these dishwashers. Once in the basement (just for low usage) and another one in the kitchen. The first day the dishwasher in the kitchen did not work and they came out and replaced it. I have had 3 other service calls on this thing and now it does not clean. Six days before Thanksgiving. I called and the lady told me no service until November 30th is available. It does not work, the first time they came out it was for a leak, second time the pump was not working and the dishwasher was not draining and now it is not cleaning. It was almost as it was my fault. It is a dishwasher - you put the dishes in and then turn it on and they should come out clean. I should not have to rinse or do anything special to make it work. We spent over 1500 dollars on each of these dishwashers and now one if not working. I did not do anything other than turn it on and expect that it should clean.I was told that they would sell me another dishwasher at a discount. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER ONE?! A real company should replace this POS and give me another one for free and it has been 15 months and I have had 2 of them in my kitchen. I can tell you if you plan on purchasing look at KitchenAid they run forever without any problems. They also did a fantastic job of support (I had it for 6 years in one house with one repair, second house they never needed to come).

Purchased an entire line of GE appliances for kitchen after having prior (still working) appliances for 13 years. Have had at least 5 services calls and countless emails and phone calls for non functioning Dishwasher. Here is response from GE Manager: I have reviewed the pictures and no I would re-wash those 4 dishes if they came out of my dishwasher prior to using them with my family. Dried on fruit, starches and dairy are tough for any dishwasher to take off as the sugars in them act like glue. Again for these types of foods we would highly recommend more pre-washing to make sure that they are not left on the dishes after the dishwashing cycle. CAUTION: DO NOT BUY.

Ran great for first 18 months then suddenly we opened one morning and notices water standing in bottom of machine. Emptied dishes, re-ran with same result. Technician called and spent an hour diagnosing to determine water pump, control board and wash motor would all need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $600 or 75% of what we paid for the unit new less than 2 years ago.
