Does my dishwasher have a reset button
Posted On: September 12, 2021

If you own a dishwasher, you know that it comes with many features and depends on the model more than one button. But what you're probably not aware of, because it may not be directly stated, is that there is a reset button. Now you're wondering, where is the reset button, and how do I use it?

Again, depending on the model, resetting your dishwasher can vary. So, to make it a little easier, here is how you can reset some of the name-brand dishwashers.

  1. GE: If the dishwasher isn't working or you need to add another dish. You can reset the GE brand dishwasher by holding the "Start/Reset." Then wait two minutes while the water drains. At this point, the light will be flashing. Once it stops flashing, you can start the machine up again. Beware of any steam or hot water when opening the door.
  2. Whirlpool: If your Whirpool dishwasher is newer, then you can reset it by pressing the first, second, and third buttons in a sequence of three times. Older models can be a bit trickier. First, you have to turn off the unit, then unplug it and wait fifteen minutes. After that, plug it back in, turn it back on and select the pots and pans setting. Then select the heat cycle, and after two minutes, repeat the process, and it should reset the machine.
  3. Fridgidare: To reset your Fridgidare dishwasher hold down the cancel button for three seconds or until the light disappears. Then wait five minutes before starting it up again.
  4. Maytag: Most Maytag models do not come with a reset button. However, you can reset them by unplugging the unit from the outlet for a minute. Hardwired models can be reset by shutting off the breaker.
  5. Samsung: You can reset your Samsung dishwasher by unplugging the unit or turning off the power from the breaker. Wait for five minutes before returning the power.

These are just a few models and how to reset them. Most of the time, dishwasher and other appliance problems can be solved by resetting them. However, if you've tried the reset method and still have issues, then it's time to call in an expert. That's where Appliance Helpers comes in. Whether your dishwasher needs repairing or replacing, we can help you get in touch with an appliance expert in your area.
