Consistent with many reviews about poor customer service and saga to try to get an appliance fixed, we experienced a very situation with their microwave. Power is on but doesnt heat food. 5 visits later and multiple calls to GE became a string of technicians having to order a part, waiting at least a week to receive the part and technician trying to fix it. For 2 weeks the microwave worked and then stopped working. Called GE again, and again they insist on having technician come by to diagnose the same problem. We put our foot down and asked for a replacement and were denied because it wasnt deemed to be irreparable. I stayed online until they offered a discount on a new microwave and they then took more than a week to send that and also proceed to take the old one which not convinced they were entitled to take given we had to purchase a new one. Completely inefficient process, customer service agents who are in and unfortunate enough to follow an inefficient process that is not focused on the consumer. Really unfortunate for a top tier company whose mission is centered around the customer but fall down on execution. Really disappointing. Im glad that we live a in capitalist state that allows us to have other choices and not feel stuck with one brand. The cost of our time and stress and technicians hourly wage is disproportionately greater than the 300 dollar retail price tag for the machine.

This is the second time that my GE microwave oven is peeling the paint on the inside of the oven. We paid over $240.00 the first time and think that this is a serious flaw this particular oven has. I think that the company should be liable, not the consumer.

When I entered my home I notice the microwave door was open and light was on. I closed it and took packages to my room. When I entered the kitchen I seen flames coming from inside unit. I put out flames with a fire. The panel was off and microwave was empty. My son said he left the door open because when he closed it hummed. I am very blessed that my home or loss of life did not happen. I contacted GE to see if there was a recall and was offered a 20.00 discount. I really feel that this is a hazard waiting to happen.

In late March, we placed a service call under GEs one year warranty. The outcome - a gasket repair. Within a week or two, the door began to drip from both the right/left bottom. With having three teens, I figured someone opened the door and released some water. Well, that just wasnt the cause. Shortly over the next few days, the leak was consistent and I placed a service call to GE on 4/19. The customer representative offered, instead of a service call, to order some panels that fit it the bottom of the dishwasher. I stated clearly that our one year warranty was up on 4/25 and if this does not work, would GE address the issue with a service call? Answer was yes. Within a few weeks, I began to worry when I did not receive the panels. A call to GE was made; however, no documentation was noted of the call made on 4/19. However, GE stated the information might be in parts department, but regardless now, that call was made after one year warranty, extended warranty would fix the issue. Long story short, the extended warranty states problem initiated under GE and GE states the extended warranty is responsible because the call was made outside the one year warranty. I expressed that GE never fulfilled responsibility as GE did not even notify us that panels were not available for our unit. In the meantime, I am the one out of a working dishwasher. Now I know $539 may not be a lot to invest, but we feel the loss. The frustration and lack of responsibility to correct the repair is just beyond me. GE is responsible. Oh and did I share that lack of communication with GE is horrible? A promised call within 12-24 hours just doesnt happen. Again, I know most would say its not worth the frustration, but it makes me sad that GE and Assurant Warranty company can get away with what I know is wrong. Weve learned from this ordeal. No more GE products in our household.

I moved in to a newly-built home in Nov. 2010. Shortly after, my GE Profile microwave seemingly caught fire. We called for service and were offered a repair free of charge. We declined a repair and did receive a brand new appliance of the same model. Around June 2012, the exact same fire happened to the new one. I must admit that it took me about 9 months to report the problem because my family had been devastated with a lengthy illness and passing of my mother. While going through our trial, I shut down my mothers apartment and just started to use her countertop microwave. Realizing that I needed to address the problem with my microwave, I called and explained this to GE service. I guess that the representative was just doing her job and stated the year warranty spiel and had no concern of this being my second microwave within a two and a half year span and also the length of time that it had not been working. I was immediately given the cost for a serviceman to come out plus I was told that I would have to pay for any parts. When I went to Home Depot to price the microwave; the cost for my model was $278. I therefore decided. Why bother to have a defected model repaired? Who needs the aggravation? I will just eat my loss and buy another microwave. Be assured that it will not be a GE. I will never again buy a General Electric product.

We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen
We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. The first Cafe dishwasher needed repairs in the first 3 months, and was replaced within 10 months due to continuing problems. The replacement GE Cafe dishwasher was deemed non-repairable after 2.5 years. The unit has a design flaw and the bracket holding the top water sprayer broke. The extended warranty with Assurant will not cover the dishwasher because they say it is not a working part. We are trying to get GE Customer Care to help but after three weeks the message we are getting is they do not care at all.The front burner on the cooktop will not light. GE cannot get a replacement part so the cooktop was also deemed nonrepairable after only 3 year. Our Cafe refrigerator also has a design flaw. The refrigerator must be unplugged to reset the computer when the water filter is changed. If you dont the refrigerator does not recognize the filter and will not dispense water. Needless to say I will never buy GE again. It is sad to see what was a good company go down the tubes.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. On the new Profile dishwasher, the water inlet valve stuck open and flooded our home. Tech said we may as well have had a hose on full blast all night. Word to the wise, do not turn your dishwasher on and go to bed or leave the house! 7 1/2 hours later we woke to a completely flooded downstairs. When we were researching whether or not there were other complaints on that model dishwasher, we noticed there had been a recall for fire hazard ON THE NEW DISHWASHER! Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. We chose a Bosch for our new dishwasher.

We bought a GE Profile micro/convection oven in December 2010 (model # PEB1590SM). It was working great until 11-19-2012, when the panel on the right side started to glow bright orange, then burst into flame. I thought my wife was goofy, so I tried to heat a cup of water. It was the same thing; the panel glowed bright orange and then flamed. We waited a week for a GE tech to visit. He said the wave guide is burnt. Its non-repairable so were waiting for disposition from GE service. There wont be another GE micro in this house. P.S. - Were still waiting for the GE case manager to call back after leaving three messages.

PVM1870SMC ($580 plus tax/Cost CDN). I bought all new GE Profile units in mid 2010 for my new house. I spent $7000, plus tax, for 4 items from a reputable company in Hannon Ontario. I bought a Fridge, Dual fuel range, Dishwasher and last the Microwave, model stated above.About 6 months back it started acting funny, but thought not too much of it as it was very intermittent. Today the Microwave will NOT seem to shut off after it beeps from cooking/warming up food and the door is open then closed. I close the door and it starts to hums. If food is in it, you can see it is still cooking. I open the door, and then close it again and it starts to Humming as soon as the door closes. The glass tray does not turn, nor does the light go on (when humming) as it does when you actually push the start button. If you do start it, everything works, that is the table turns, light goes on and it cooks/warms food etc. Then it beeps when done, you open the door to remove items, close the door, and again just starts humming.I unplug it for an hour, but as soon as you plug back in, again.. Hums until you open the door. I put a cup of water in it, and just closed the door, did not push the start button. After about 40 seconds, the water started to boil.

Model gdt580sgfbb - About 2 weeks after the warranty expired, the dishwasher stopped filling with water. So, our friend replaced the water inlet valve. No change. If you pour water into it, it kinda pushed it around, but empties it out, wont refill, and starts whining. Then, if you open it, and turn it off, and re -shut it, it starts itself back up again! What?! This stupid thing is essentially brand New! To be truthful, it has never cleaned very well, leaving residue on dishes, and NEVER getting dishes dry. I regret buying this item! And its still not fixed. I will not buy another GE appliance.

We bought this microwave (GE DE68-00307A) brand new 2 years ago and the paint is peeling off everywhere!!!! I keep my microwaves extremely clean, and this was not due to wear and tear by any means. I would say it started after about a year and a half of having it. I have showed multiple people and I cannot believe this is not on a recall list. This is extremely dangerous and could cause many issues. I am hoping someone can do something about this manufacturer and this product. This alone will make me never buy a GE product again.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. I dont accept the premise that a new appliance should only last four years. I will replace my unusable microwave with a competitor’s brand and will pledge never to purchase a GE appliance again. I will also sell my GE stock, for I now understand why its going nowhere.

My GE dishwasher was installed the first week of October, 2019. After 3 loads, the unit was no longer functioning properly. I called GE to set up a service appointment to get them to come look at the dishwasher. It ended up taking 3 different technicians, ordering 3 different parts, at 3 different appointments before the problem was fixed (or so I thought). By the time I was able to use my dishwasher again, it was already the end of December and my 30 day return window expired. It is now mid January and I am already having the same problem as before and having to go through the whole process again. Because the year warranty is only for repairs, they will not just replace the unit, and instead I will have to continue dealing with this nightmare. Obviously, I will just be replacing my unit on my own after this.... And it will not be with GE!

Absolutely silent! Several features and cycles such as crystal, normal, pots and pans and drying options such as air dry or heat dry. Standard size dishwasher. The key is in the loader. Stainless steel with no handle or anything plastic. Flush. Stainless interior as well. It did have a food disposal but to avoid smells since we start the dishwasher only twice a week, we rinsed off our dishes. Another important element we learned from the previous dishwasher is to use the heat dry if you want your load to be dry with as little puddles of water as possible.

Does not clean well nor dry well even on the more powerful cycles. I rinse off all the food and if anything is accidentally missed, it just gets baked on. Very disappointing. Also much of the upper rack item remain very wet at the end of the cycle. Drying issues: I use the most powerful drying cycle option but contents remain wet at the end of the cycle, especially plastics and top rack utensils. Not just damp, but large drops of water remain. Cleaning issues: Even when I use the heavy cycle, unless I remove all traces of food from the contents, the food remains and worse, now baked on. This model has a sanitized cycle so basically I use this dishwasher to sanitize only rather than clean, dry and sanitize. Completely unacceptable.

We usually turn on the dishwasher in the night. Last month ours started smelling smoke in the morning 6:00 am. When checked, it was the dishwasher that melted couple of plastic cans and its own sprayer and other plastic parts (pictures speaks for itself). When checked with GE, this model was not under recall (there are other models with similar issues). They sent their technician, who confirmed that newer models has auto turnoff circuit. When I asked GE rep, both (level 1 and her manager) assured me that even though it shows its burnt from inside, it would have contained the fire inside, which I disagree. Even after seeing pics, their tech review and the whole incident, their engineers determined this is not a safety hazard to me or my family.

Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since
Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since I didnt, I have never been so disappointed in an appliance purchase as my new GE dishwasher! Not only are some of the dishes & silverware coming out more dirty than they went in, it takes a ridiculously long time for a cycle. And if there are more than a couple of tablespoons of water on the door, it will pee out onto the floor when the door is closed! Not to mention that there is junk stuck to the floor just inside dishwasher, under the door, after the cycle has run! Yet the worst part is how dirty dishes are after even a Sani Wash cycle! Sometimes, the detergent lid is still closed. Sometimes its open, but the detergent is still there. Even then, dishes may be cleaner in appearance that time, than when the detergent is gone. A water glass, may have gritty stuff - not just detergent stuck and hiding down inside, or more obvious all over inside the glass. I have spent the past year experimenting with various things: detergents, amounts of detergents, arrangements of dishes, heat of water, pressure of water, rinsing dishes before cycle, etc. Glass and pottery normally fare better than plastics, but again the plastic may have started cleaner than they come out! The dealer has been out three times, finding nothing obvious the DW itself, nor anything I have done wrong. He has been told there is a kit that would fix the performance problem, but he cant purchase it, nor can his distributor. I have been told the length of cycle is because our government regulates the amount of water used. So my question is, then its okay to use more electricity?! Its totally embarrassing to serve someone a drink in a glass that is found not clean near the end of the drink! And I, too, have an old 12-years-dishwasher that still works! It was even a cheaper brand. I never had to think where pieces were arranged in that dishwasher. I just thought, in my newly built house, I should have new appliances!

RCA RMW953-White 0.9 cu. feet Microwave, 900-watts, 10-power levels, end cooking signal, glass turntable, 6-one-touch cooking menus, speed and weight defrost, cook by weight. Bubbles obscure text. I wanted a white microwave with a door handle, .9 and fairly powerful. I was glad to have found this microwave. But I dont know if the hole was there before, or my teenagers or I inadvertently put a small hole in the plastic covering over the control panel outside the microwave (NOT meant to be removed, I asked support) but now its become a larger hole as air got underneath. I cannot read the button text. I tried to cover it with scotch tape and thats not working.I searched and found out this is a common problem with GE microwaves. The buttons are very close to the bottom and therefore, countertop, so if you have a utensil or plate or something that sits near the microwave, it might nick the plastic coating. I called GE support (in India) and they said since its under warranty, I can return it. However Id have to pay shipping costs. Fortunately, I bought this at Wal-Mart (I hate to support this store but it was the only place I could find this style) and they have an excellent return policy and there is no charge for shipping. It was easy to call and request a shipping label within the generous warranty period. You might save yourself the trouble of a return or be very careful to not put a small hole in the plastic coating. Again, this is not protective coating for shipping, this is a permanent coating to protect the buttons.

I did purchase the block that the time that I got it which helped out a lot is I'm 5 foot 10 and it's the perfect height. It helps getting stains out really easy as I have a nice here to play softball. I would definitely recommend this washer to anybody and everybody. I even wash my huge comforter for my bed in it and it washes it great every time.

Purchased the cafe dishwasher in March. We are now on our second one as the first did not work and now this one does not work. It worked fine for the first couple of months and now it’s doing the same thing as the first one. Pump is on the fritz apparently. Truly disappointed. We owned the cafe dishwasher at our last house and loved it so we made sure that we purchased the same one when we bought our new house.

I am so disgusted. My 1 year and 2 months old microwave could have burned down my house. It got very hot so much you couldnt even touch it! Microwave product code JES1344SK. This should be a recall and customers should not need to have to pay for these to have them fixed. GE should be grateful this didnt start the house on fire and no one was killed by it! I will never by GE again!

We recently purchased our second dishwasher in 16+ years (the other one (a Kenmore) is still running fabulously but staying with the sale of our former home - however I am tempted to swap it out with this new one from GE). This beautiful inside and out dishwasher has a couple main flaws that has me wanting my old dishwasher back. The buttons on the front are super sensitive, causing it to come on countless times a day as we get items out of cabinet above. This is not something we thought about. Our old one had the controls on the front but they were under plastic that you pushed... not actual buttons like this one.The second issue is minor. The rack on the bottom is set up very wide on one side and our dinner plates are smaller than some and they do not sit firmly in between the tines. The spacing is great for larger plates or serving items but not for medium size plates. We use a lot of bowls so the other side with closer together tines is always full. Like I said just a minor flaw. Lastly, the unit puts off a high-pitched sound during certain parts of the cycle. It is not really loud but it is bothersome if we are still in the kitchen when it is running.

GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 year
GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 years old and is used approximately once daily for lightly soiled dishes, usually only half full since there’s only 2 of us in the house. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?

Model JVM1740DP1BB - GE Microwave - complaining since November 2014. Great microwave UNTIL the inside ceiling bubbled and began to flake off in various locations. A service tech that visited our home advised us to call GE and advise them of a potentially hazardous situation. The GE rep offered to sell us a new microwave but only stated that we were out of warranty, although this is clearly a manufacturers defect! She proceeded to tell us the lining was perfectly safe but maybe we shouldnt operate it. I have written GE management to see if they will assist in replacing the defective unit; GE is the reason we purchased it to begin with (but it may be the reason never to purchase one again).

GE Microwave Model JES1655DR1BB - I have had many microwaves over many years but never had one malfunction as bad as this one. I am only glad that it happened with me rather than my wife or child. Or, if I had left the room while it was on. Immediately after turning the unit on, it started making loud electrical arcing noises and flashing light. I had just placed a microwave safe glass dish inside. I removed that and tested again with nothing inside. Same thing happened. I next thoroughly cleaned the unit. Tried again. Same thing happened. I had paid a little more for this unit than the usual believing it would be worth it. It clearly was not.

Now, the part has failed again, the second time in 2 years, and GE basically said you lose. A rep from GE told me that they only guarantee their products for 1 year. I purchased a GE microwave from PC Richard and Son in 2011. The microwave is mounted above the oven. On March 13, 2013, the microwave (model JVM1750DP1WW) sparked a fire inside while my daughter cooked a waffle. After I contacted GE via email, the case manager (Misty) sent a technician to my home to inspect the microwave. This was free of charge. The technician claimed the microwave was able to be repaired and he needed to order touch up paint and a few parts. I was shocked that the tech claimed this was a simple repair and able to be fixed. I said, You need touch up paint? This is going to look horrible. How safe can this be after having a fire inside? He claimed it will look good and I would not notice the paint. I spent $411.00 on this microwave less than 2 years ago. I dont think I should have it fixed and touched up with paint to cover burn marks. The microwave went on fire. I dont want it fixed. Its not safe and should be scraped for safety regulations, not repaired and touched up inside with paint. The tech ordered a few parts and I immediately called the case manager Misty to stress to her my numerous concerns on the actions of the technician. I made clear that I was not satisfied with my microwave being fixed and painted when it went on fire, but would like a replacement. I told her I could understand fixing it if it was a broken part or electronic device, but not a fire. She agreed that she also would not like to have a fixed microwave in her home, but that GE can sell me one at a lower price of $150.00. Really, do they need the money that bad that they cant stand behind a dissatisfied consumer when their product went on fire? This could have been so much worse. Lucky my daughter was in the next room. She smelled, heard the fire and stopped the microwave. I paid the $150 just so I can have a working, new, safer microwave in my kitchen. But this is crazy and not good business ethic on GEs behalf. This should be set as a recall, not a repair. I contacted the service manager again stressing my complaint and feelings about paying this fee for a new microwave. She said again that if the technician says the microwave can be fixed, then theyll listen to the technician and fix the item. Well this seems a little one sided since the technician works for GE. No brainier. What do you think he is going to say?

I own a GE over the stove Microwave that spontaneously turned on while I was sleeping. Once the unit was running for a bit, it caught on fire. It melted thru the glass plate before I woke up and was able to remove power from the unit and stop the fire. To GEs credit, they did send a tech out to our place. The tech never did anything to find out what caused the problem. Instead he was just looking to see if the unit was salvageable. He condemned the unit, and GEs solution was a $25 rebate on the next one of their products I would purchase. The liability GE would have been up for if I were not home would have been astronomical. We all agreed, including sales person. Day before the first year, the dish washer was not draining good. They said the warranty was running out. I told them, I had got extra yr warranty. The robot voice said it might be over. The repairman came in, and said the same thing. The repairman replaced everything in the dishwasher. It took him 3 visits. He got it working. He claimed there was an extra orange ball in the part and that why it didnt drain well.I started using it for 2 weeks and it stop draining completely. When I bought it the salesperson said, See I added the extra warranty on. But unbeknownst to me, she put it on the stove... How the heck am I supposed to know she did it wrong. I call the company and they said, Look at your receipt. And sure enough, it was on the stove. Looking at it and how the salesperson made it sound, it was understood by all that the warranty was on and I had an extra yr on the dishwasher... I looked at the receipt. Had a list of what I bought the warranty and we were good to go. Everything was replaced in it, everything. It was a mechanical issue and yet here it sits not working and I havent even paid for it. PDT845SMJES - I purchased the entire GE Profile series when we remodeled our kitchen in October 2016. The first time I started the dishwasher, it leaked out the bottom of the door. The store where I purchased it sent out a plumber who discovered the soap dispenser was missing the seal. Took a week to order and replace the seal. Worked fine for 5 weeks. Then, on December 17, 2016, it quit mid cycle and I got the leak detected error message. Now I am in dishwasher hell. The store where I bought it said they were too busy to come and check it, so they told me to call GEs customer service number. GE sent out a plumber from Iowa (I live in SD). He removed the bottom panel, to look underneath and decided it needed a new pump and also a new soap dispenser part. That was on back order, so I had to wait until January 11, 2017 for him to come back. When he pulled out the dishwasher to replace the pump, he discovered the tub was leaking along the left side. He said the unit could not be fixed and suggested I call the store where I originally purchased it. They agreed the unit could not be fixed and contacted GE and got me a case number and said GE would call me by the end of the week. Im still waiting for that call. Do NOT buy this model GE dishwasher. GE apparently doesnt stand behind its products and the stores that sell GE are helpless to do anything for you.

JVM6175SFSS - I purchased this over the stove Micro in July 2014. When I cooked a potato or frozen meal it would sound like it was going to explode. Condensation drips down behind my stove and the window and door to it get all steamed up. The fan clears the door & window but is very loud and intrusive even on low. Besides that I have never needed to use a fan when I use the microwave. GE repair came and said there was nothing wrong with it. But after thinking about it, came back the next day and took it apart. The tech called GE engineers and described to their amazement the way the inside was made. They said no way. So the tech took pictures and emailed them to GE. They reviewed it and said thats the way it is. I wouldnt stand for that and called them again and told them that the bottom of the micro gets scalding hot. At that they changed it out.... for another one with the same problem. The wall behind the stove is getting ruined from vapor dripping and all the same problems exist. They will be coming again and I am going to insist they take back their junker and let me buy a safe microwave of another brand even though my other appliances match. I had a problem with my GE Profile Dishwasher that I had for several years and I had it on factory warranty. However, the last time they came to repair, they did not have parts available to fix anymore. So, they recommended new one. I worked with Consumer dept and made arrangements to replace with one they recommended at $500+. After several efforts to get it delivered, it was and we began using. It is not a Profile like my old one and it does not have the additional washing, rinsing and drying cycles as the Profile. It is a flat out bottom line washer. No, sani clean etc.. We have used the machine about 4 times and each time we have to rewash several of the dishes and especially the silverware. This is the most disgusting piece of equipment I have ever used. My home is loaded with GE products from years ago, mostly the Profile series and I have been delighted with the products and service. This machine is a disaster. I cannot believe that GE has this on the market or maybe this is a machine they use to satisfy customers who may threaten to use someone elses. It was not free, as I say it cost over $500. The stores and onlines advertise better machines on sale for less. I have GE stock which I will sell. They are going down on Quality. Consequences: Stuck with poor machine that does not do job that I paid good money for. Really, GE, get yourself together. Product Model:GDF510PSD1SS.

This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014.
GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014. Dishwasher worked well for a short period of time. Six months into ownership the unit began to leak and was quickly and efficiently repaired while under warranty. 10 months into warranty, the dishwasher began to rumble very loudly during every drain cycle, to the point where it sounded like it was going to walk out of the kitchen. Warranty tech showed up and had to order parts. Not sure which pump to replace he ordered both. Tech returns 10 days later and replaces both pumps. He turns power back on and the entire unit is dead electrically. Nothing works, pumps, motors, keypad, nada! Repair keypad was ordered along with a new wiring harness, just in case it was the source of the problem.2 weeks later, and one week before warranty expires, the repairman shows up and replaces the keypad and wiring harness. Yippie skippie, everything works but the tech is still confused, telling me the keypad lights should turn off at the end of the cleaning cycle, he could never make that happen. He completes his repairs on December 23. The unit performs flawlessly for 3 complete cycles, except the lights on the keypad never turn off at the end of the cleaning cycles.Sometime during the week of January 11-17 (while I was traveling) the unit dies again. Completely inoperable electrically. Follow up call with GE warranty service and the entire focus is on the fact that the warranty has expired. I keep pressing and the warranty person finally admits that service parts should carry a 30 day warranty. Service tech arrives and tells me he has to order parts. Keypad has been back ordered and I have no idea when it will show up.Totally unreliable expensive piece of junk. I can only imagine what the future holds. This experience seems to mimic Jack Welchs business philosophy to a tee - maximize profit and return to the shareholders while minimizing production costs and ignoring the customer needs completely. Highly recommend that you run any direction except towards purchasing any GE appliance, especially the Cafe series. Dishwasher. Nonexistent quality controls, no parts available, disappointing performance, extremely high price, P.O.S! DO NOT PURCHASE GE APPLIANCES. Negative Stars rating is what I would give this product. It will for good recycle materials at the scrap yard, sooner than later I am afraid!

We bought a microwave oven (CVM1790SS2SS, ZA301193K) for our new house some 4.5 yers ago. The flimsy, but very shiny, metal cover on the door handle split and the resulting sharp, but hidden, edge cut my finger. We covered it up with scotch tape, and ordered a replacement for the handle. We paid GE $102 (other folk sell it for $76, as we later discovered). There were no useable installation instructions. Our extremely competent handyman could not figure out how to do it and called GE for help at 800 636-2005. He was rudely dismissed and was told to look for instructions on Youtube! He spent 2 hours to install the replacement part. The screws that came with it, were not quite right. Ill never buy another GE appliance in my life. The Item was ordered by Ellen ** (It was shipped on 1/17/2017).

Our dishwasher has gotten very warm mid-cycle and now trips the breaker in the house each time we run the cycle. The problem became evident in April 2012. We have called in a GE repair person to fix it and they said it was a heating issue and not repairable. We have not used it since, but have not replaced it with a new one yet. In August, we read about the recall of a similar model number manufactured within same time frame. Our machine model is PDW7300J03WW, the recalled model is PDW7. Our machines serial # is **. Strangely, the serial number is not listed in the recall, even though symptoms are exactly the same!We have called GE Consumer Affairs at 1-800-386-1215 four times, the most recent today, 9/14/2012. Each time we call, we are left on hold for 59 minutes only to be disconnected automatically! I am sending a registered letter to GE CA with a copy of this link and intend to contact my local news if I do not receive sufficient response within the week. Does GE need to see an actual fire report from my fire department or worse in order to get their attention to replace the unit? It is disgraceful and extremely dangerous.

I purchased my GE Microwave about a year and a half ago. It has served me with flying colors till yesterday. To explain, I was boiling a small plastic pan of water for some rice. I have done this many times in the past. In the middle of the cooking cycle I heard a loud bang from the microwave. I stopped the cooking cycle and opened the door. To my surprise the glass turntable had shattered into several pieces. I cleaned out all the broken glass and tested the microwave. It seems to be working perfectly with the exception of the glass turntable. A new one was ordered. No further action is required. This is just an information for GE.

This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well at GE. I dont expect a response since I have been dealt with by the most inhuman people at GE!

I owned a previous GE dishwasher 4 years ago and would give it excellent ratings. I bought a newer top of the line version when I purchased a new home. It simply fails to clean dishes. Wet food that any dishwasher would remove, remained on the dishes. The drying cycle never dried the dishes. We have to hand wash the dishes now and have stopped using the dishwasher after 3 days of ownership because of health hazard. I called Lowes about this within days of the install. Lowes sent out the installer who claimed the machine was installed properly. Then Lowes scheduled a GE repairman to come to the home. We waited all day for him to arrive for a morning appointment. He never came. Lowes stepped up and is replacing the dishwasher with a non-GE product. I would not touch a GE product again given the lack of service and commitment to their product. I feel confident with Lowes, but not with GE - their ethics from engineering, manufacturing and servicing are very suspect with us.

I purchased the GE Cafe dishwasher in March 2010. Starting in January 2012, some of the keypad options stopped working. Then in April 2012, the keypad stopped working completely and I could no longer get it to turn on. I did call GE for repair. When the repair person was out to fix it, they said that this model has a design flaw. It was originally designed to sit 1 below the countertop so that the heat could release without shorting out the keypad. However, that would require a person to somehow raise their entire counter or fit the dishwasher below the floor somehow. GE was aware of the problem but decided to ignore the problem. That means that even though my keypad was replaced, the same problem will occur again and again no matter how many times the keypad is replaced. I paid over $1400 for this model, and the labor charges alone cost me $200 for the repair. I think it is absolutely despicable that such a large company has allowed a high-priced, defective product to go out into the market, knowing that a major malfunction will occur out of warranty in such a short period of time.

My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

I purchased a stainless steel GE dishwasher for $508.68 since I remodeled my kitchen October 2016, I contacted GE in March 2017 because the stainless steel on the dishwasher door started to have rust spots, they sent a technician to look at it, they told me that they cannot replace it because the aesthetic warranty is only good for 30 days. They authorized the technician to replace the door, however I have the same issue with the new door, and also the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted them again. The technician was able to fix the dishwasher, but as far as the stains on the door they told me thats an aesthetic issue. They cant do anything about it. I called the consumer relations department. I spoke with CIARA GE case # **. They offered me a small discount and I have to come up with $400.00 to buy a new dishwasher.I feel that a good business should always stand behind its products. The dishwasher obviously is defective, they sold me an appliance that supposed to be stainless steel but its something else, the right thing for GE to do is to exchange the defective product for the right one. I am very frustrated that in less than a year I have to spend over $900.00 for a dishwasher. I am great customer for GE, I remodeled my kitchen, I purchased a GE refrigerator, cooktop, oven, kitchen hood, microwave and dishwasher, I think I deserve better than a small discount for a defective product.

We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

GE Model PDW9280J10SS Fire - Many GE Profile dishwashers have been recalled during the same time frame as the model we purchased, but it is not listed as one of the recall models. Just as many other complaints, ours started to smoke out of the top of the front door and filled our house with smoke. Thank God we were there to shut it off. The next day I opened up the front door to see what had been burning and it had holes burnt in front and back of the main circuit box (for lack of better name), one burn mark right where the main wire harness plugs in and burnt right through it. This is the same description many others have written. There is a problem with all of these Profile dishwashers purchased between 2006 and 2009 (ours 2007). If we had not been home, who knows what would have happened?

We have a GE Profile Microwave (PNM1871SM3SS) that is only 3 years old and is reporting KEYPAD SHORTED - SERVICE MAY BE REQUIRED. We called GE service repair and told them the exact message. The service guy shows up and says all he has in his order is General other service needed and that he doesnt have the keypad panel. Gives us an estimate of $501 to repair it. Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. Three nights ago, I loaded my GE Profile Dishwasher, model # PDW9880L00SS and began the wash cycle. The wash cycle completed and I went off to bed leaving it on the dry cycle. The next morning I smelled a burning smell but did not know where it was coming from in my home. A few hours later, my husband began searching all of the appliances in our home to see what the burning smell was. When he opened the dishwasher smoke came out of it and everything in it was completely burned. Apparently the drying mechanism never turned off after the wash cycle or it turned itself back on only on the dry cycle. I dont know. But I know one thing for sure, we are lucky that my husband was home because I left and if he wasnt there, Im positive that the dishwasher would have caught on fire causing severe damage to our home. If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.
