I just moved into a senior Community and the GE Dishwasher was already here. I moved from a condo that also came with a dishwasher, a GE, new. It was builder grade and I hated it. But I am really enjoying my GE in my apartment! This one cleans very well and is quiet. I like it a lot.

Super sad about the performance of this dishwasher. This is the second leak in a year. The first time my husband fixed with new GE pump because we wanted the dishwasher up and running and the scheduled repair time was out more than a week. We were also told there would be no reimbursement to the damage to the brand new floor that was damaged. This time I REFUSE to have him fix the dishwasher even though once again the repair time is out more than a week. The cost of this dishwasher should warrant a functioning product.

My microwave is a GE, model JE 1040 made in 1998, which they probably dont make anymore. I use it several times a week, mostly to heat up leftovers and water. Also pre-packaged microwavable meals, such as breakfasts and biscuits. I have cooked different kinds of meat and other items in it many times and am completely satisfied with it. I would be lost without it.

I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

GE GDF520PGDWW 24 white, full console dishwasher - Energy Star. I have had this dishwasher model since December 2014 and it has not drained consistently since the beginning either during the wash cycle or rinse cycle. GE has sent three different repair companies to replace the pump, the control panel, and ultimately the entire dishwasher, yet even the new dishwasher still does not drain consistently. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it doesnt. The GE-certified repairman was again here this morning and is again ordering a new pump. Counting the original pump, the previously replaced pump and the pump in the new unit, this would be the fourth pump. I tried to suggest the problem may not be the pump, but the repairman could not think of another possible issue. I do not recommend purchasing this dishwasher.

I bought a brand new GE Spacesaver OTR mount Microwave (Model # jnm1851dmbb) and had installed in my new home by the appliance shop where I purchased it in November, 2010. I am a widow and I use the microwave maybe 3-4 times per week, and take very good care of it. I went to steam some fresh veggies this evening and the whole unit just went dead. There’s no fan, light, or keypad. It is plugged in and I did not blow a fuse or switch. I checked them all. It’s just plain broken after less than 2 years of very light use. It’s a piece of junk! I’ll be buying another brand this time. I will never buy a GE again! It’s a junk, junk and junk!

This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well at GE. I dont expect a response since I have been dealt with by the most inhuman people at GE!

Greetings fellow GE Appliances fans! I suppose youre all wondering why I gathered you here, so let me first say this wasnt Plan A, which was to give GE Appliances a quiet and fair opportunity to set things right. After all it is Easter and we should all be grateful for second chances or, in GEs case, fifth chances. Now about halfway through the below some of you are going to wonder why I didnt switch to another brand sooner, but Ive saved that answer for the end because, quite frankly, its the absolute best part of the story. And since most stories have a hero Ill tell you why The Home Depot, where we purchased the GE dishwasher, is the hero of this tale.On Feb 16, 2019 I purchased a new GE Dishwasher which was installed by GE. It subsequently overflowed causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the wood floors in our kitchen and our basement ceiling. GEs technician confirmed the cause was a defective factory drain pump and documented that GE was responsible for the damage. I was instructed to contact Sedgwick, their insurance claims administrator. Well have more on that later. On March 9 I received a 2nd GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect and subsequently overflowed and caused additional damage to our home. I hired an independent plumber who confirmed the installation and home plumbing were fine and that it was, in fact, a defect with the dishwasher. On March 15 I received a 3rd GE dishwasher, however it was damaged during shipment so GE was unable to install. On March 22 I received a 4th GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect, but we caught it in time to prevent another overflow. On April 3 I received a 5th (yes, 5th) dishwasher which worked once (or so we thought) but as it turned out also had the drain defect. We caught it in time to prevent another overflow. We also had an independent plumber confirm (again) there were no issues with the installation or our home plumbing. This included disconnecting the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and pointing it into a bucket. The dishwasher simply would not drain. At this point youre probably thinking how stupid it was for me to keep requesting replacements from GE and you would be correct...which brings me to my favorite part of the story. You see, even though GE refused to switch me to an entirely different GE model dishwasher line despite multiple requests, they promised to compensate us for our inconvenience which would take into account how long we went without a dishwasher (approaching two months now), how much work I missed (numerous vacation days) due to installation and repair appointments, and warned me that if I switched to another brand that their policy was to not compensate.I cant tell you how much they repeatedly emphasized the compensation aspect, so when we finally received what we thought was a working dishwasher I called to request compensation. Their offer was (drum roll...) $25.00. I literally laughed out loud (LLOLd). To be fair, after expressing some slight dissatisfaction with their offer, they raised it some but its not worthy of an additional drum roll.Fast forward to today (Apr 21, 2019) and we still have a defective GE dishwasher in our home and are still washing dishes by hand which, for a family of four, is no small daily task. GE was actually supposed to remove the dishwasher from our home yesterday, but arrived and said they couldnt because our replacement dishwasher (a Bosch...we gave up on GE) had not arrived. They already knew this before they came because: 1. We told them and; 2...wait for it...THEY were the ones supposed to deliver and install it. Weve been courteous, patient, and have done everything GE asked, but have been treated very poorly in return. I will say that most, but definitely not everyone I spoke with at GE Appliances, was polite however none of them seemed to be empowered to truly help us.As for Sedgwick (GEs insurance claims administrator): were still waiting for them to pay for the approximately $18,000 in damage to our home. Our wood floors are turning black and theres now a musty smell in our finished basement. Its been approximately 52 days and Im starting to doubt theyre ever going to pay for the damage to our familys home.Im sure some of you will say youve had GE products for years with no problems, so let me say that Im genuinely happy for you. We were, and somewhat reluctantly still are, a GE family. The last three custom homes weve built, including our current home, all had GE appliances by choice. But in the last five years weve had the original dishwasher in our brand new home break in just three years (heating element) which is what started this replacement debacle, the fan motor on our brand new refrigerator break in just four years costing us several hundred dollars in groceries and a $200 repair bill (and its starting to make the same loud noise again so may fail again soon), and a glass defect in the microwave within two years of purchase. As for the hero of this story, The Home Depot, I simply cant say enough good things about the store and their management team. Even though this was not their fault they apologized, agreed to switch us to another dishwasher brand, and paid the difference in price (even though we volunteered to pay the difference ourselves). They made it clear we were valued and said you are our customer and we are going to help you.GE must have known The Home Depot would do this, because GE is the one who told us to call and suggested The Home Depot might do something for us...something GE apparently wasnt willing to do themselves. For now it seems that GE Appliances not only mistreated our family, but The Home Depot as well. Im not suggesting that you should or should not buy GE appliances, but IF you do and IF its defective and IF it damages your home then buckle up. It may be a long, painful, and stressful ride with no end in sight.

We purchased a GE Cafe Dishwasher in Oct. 2013, and in Nov 2014 we had a major leak that ruined our hardwood floor. We called GE and they authorized a repair even though our Dishwasher was 1 month beyond the 1 year warranty. Unfortunately is now the end of January 2015 and the dishwasher is still not fixed after 4 attempts by their recommended factory authorized repair company. I have called and written numerous documenting the failed attempt and inability of the repair company to fix our dishwasher, and asked for a replacement, and was denied. They have already spent about $900 to pay the repair company, which I would think would have been cheaper to have replaced the dishwasher and had a satisfied customer. So I have now been without an operational dishwasher for 2 months while it sits in the middle of my kitchen floor, as I wait for the cupping in my hardwood floor to lay down so I can get my floor repaired. Needless to say, I am very displeased with the quality of the GE Cafe dishwasher.

Wife called me at work to tell me our house is filled with smoke. Our GE dishwasher caught on fire 20 mins after she did a load of dinner dishes. Thanks to my 10- and 4-year-old kids who were in the living room playing, when they smelled smoke, they quickly ran and got the fire extinguisher and yelled to my wife. They ran out of the house and called the FD. Their quick thinking prevented it from getting worse. While on the phone, I had her go and turn off the circuit breaker. We got lucky this time, someone was home...

My 3 year old $600 GE micro caught on fire with nothing it. I set the timer on my top of the line GE microwave for a reminder. Nothing in the micro, cooking nothing! When I came back it was on fire! Melted the inside. If I would not of been there it would of burnt my house down! The only way to shut it off and put out the fire was to turn off the power to it. The next day as soon as I turned the power on my GE microwave started on fire again!!! This must be happing to many people and needs to be addressed by GE! This company needs to be held accountable for burning houses down!

I just found the site for the review on 5/17. Ive had two GE Cafe microwaves model CVM2072SM3SS purchased at the same time for the two kitchens in the house. The microwave in the in-law suite lasted one year and I replaced it with a very economical one which has been fine for 3 years. The electrician could not repair it. The microwave in the main kitchen is 5 years old but it stopped working (same issue of frozen panel) after 4 years. In Nov. 2016, during Thanksgiving weekend, it froze and stopped working. I looked on YouTube and we cleaned the terminals in the panel using alcohol. That worked for 2 months. When it stopped again I tried the same remedy but it did not work. The panel lights up, but it will not respond to any commands. After 7 months of it being inoperable, I decided to either fix or replace it (while using a way cheaper GE from a friend). This is an abysmally poorly engineered VERY expensive microwave. The LED panel is a disgrace! Do not buy CAFE microwaves. Im out $1500+ (for two) plus the replacements, the aggravation, the ugly looking counter with the loaner from my friend. I am ready to bite the bullet and buy a microwave that fits the style of my kitchen. It wont be a CAFE! Although it is a set... Enough is enough. I give up.

We have purchased this GE Profile PP970FR2SS microwave with oven combo a year ago. In less than a year, we have experienced these problems on the microwave that still keeps on heating even if its not in use and a buzzing sound can be heard. We called for repair and the repairmen replaced the door switch mechanism. In less than a month, same issues persist. Again repaired but after some months, same problem. The technician said that the door mechanism is not the original parts and ordered the original GE Profile parts. But after replacing it, the same problems exist and the technician said that its now the panel board. Its been almost two weeks now that we dont have any microwave and still waiting for GE technician to repair it. I wouldnt buy this brand anymore and wouldnt recommend a combo for microwave and oven. This is a poor design and quality on GE. Hopefully, this equipment will not cause any fire. We now turn off the circuit breaker for this device every time we go on a long trip/vacation.

I bought a brand new GE Dishwasher GDWT308VBB delivered October 3, 2012 which promised: 5-stage filtration with Piranha hard food disposer, 5 self-cleaning filters ensure clean dishes, dedicated silverware jets, highly pressurized spray jets target the silverware area for improved cleaning; steam prewash - loosens tough soils before any cycle virtually eliminating the need for soaking or pre-rinsing dishes; auto wash cycle - cycle automatically adjusts to soil level to maximize energy savings and ensure clean dishes; natural convection heated dry option, a drying element effectively dries dishes reducing the need to towel dry after unloading; 52 dBA sound level - nearly silent two-pump system cleans dirty dishes without disruption. No matter which cycle or combination of features I use, my dishes have yet to be cleaned. Contrary to advertising above, I do need to rinse dishes prior to cleaning in dishwasher and also rewash dishes after dishwasher cycle is completed. Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or other appliance from them. Last June 27th we bought a new home which came with all GE appliances. In fact I have 2 of these dishwashers. Once in the basement (just for low usage) and another one in the kitchen. The first day the dishwasher in the kitchen did not work and they came out and replaced it. I have had 3 other service calls on this thing and now it does not clean. Six days before Thanksgiving. I called and the lady told me no service until November 30th is available. It does not work, the first time they came out it was for a leak, second time the pump was not working and the dishwasher was not draining and now it is not cleaning. It was almost as it was my fault. It is a dishwasher - you put the dishes in and then turn it on and they should come out clean. I should not have to rinse or do anything special to make it work. We spent over 1500 dollars on each of these dishwashers and now one if not working. I did not do anything other than turn it on and expect that it should clean.I was told that they would sell me another dishwasher at a discount. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER ONE?! A real company should replace this POS and give me another one for free and it has been 15 months and I have had 2 of them in my kitchen. I can tell you if you plan on purchasing look at KitchenAid they run forever without any problems. They also did a fantastic job of support (I had it for 6 years in one house with one repair, second house they never needed to come).

GE dishwasher GDT680SSH2SS - I don’t normally do product reviews... In this case, I am making an exception. This is without a doubt the very worst dishwasher I have EVER owned. I’m pleased with myself for buying the optional insurance when I bought the dishwasher from Home Depot. It has been repaired 6 times. It even had to have the main seal replaced. It flooded my kitchen and ruined my floor. My homeowners insurance sued GE. I think it worked fine for only 6 months...then it went downhill. It is extremely loud! It sounds like your dishes are being destroyed... No, I’m not exaggerating!I have NEVER had issues like this. I bought this GE as I really like the screen bottom so that large particles didn’t get caught up inside the pump etc... As I’m typing this, I have it set for Sani wash and the water isn’t hot at all, and it had standing clean water in the bottom when I opened it up this morning. I will also note, I rinse all my dishes before putting them in. I will never buy GE anything again.

They wanted to replace the microwave and the stove for over $2400. I can buy the full set from Best Buy for almost $2300 all in Samsung brand. Also, this related to paint issue. This is all fine until... one has to make numerous calls to the GE warranty line, which should be called a WARNING Line. All because they could not find the service repair # that was submitted.Anyway, two weeks later we still wash our dishes and NO one has called us back from GE with any answers... SO FRUSTRATING! Periodically my GE Profile Dishwasher will not clean well. On every occasion it is due to clogging of spray ports on the upper and/or lower spray arms. Removing the blockages is nigh-on impossible as it is often not possible to extract the blockage from the outside and its not at all possible to flush the blockage back down the arm to extract it at the centre. All that is required is a bit of forethought and the creation of some access to the arm. I was frankly surprised to not be able to find a replacement arm as the suggested solution to this problem, the additional part revenue being part of GEs the business model. There are a number of other design issues with the assembly at the bottom that make me think it was done by an intern and nobody checked her work at the end of summer break before it went into production.

It wouldnt turn off, so we unplugged it. We are lucky that it didnt catch the house on fire. NEVER go to sleep with your dishwasher running. All the stuff you see at the bottom is plastic that dripped down. It melted the bottom of the silverware rack, and some silverware fell down to the bottom where the plastic handles of the knife handles melted. There is brown residue, so I think it did start to catch fire. Thank goodness we woke up early.

One needs to be a contortionist to replace the under light bulbs on this microwave. It is a TERRIBLE design. Why werent the sockets placed so that the prong holes could be visible? One has to do a back-bend over the stove top and then the socket holes are still not visible. DO NOT BUY THIS MICROWAVE. DONT BUY THE STOVE EITHER. IT IS DANGEROUS. THE KNOBS TURN EASILY AND OPEN THE GAS.

I bought a JVM3670SK05 a little under two years ago. It is an above the cooktop vent-a-hood microwave. I believed I was buying a quality unit. Now everything is working, but there’s no heat! Even the cheap units from Walmart work longer than this expensive piece of crap! Now I either have to spend enough to buy a new hood for cooktop and new microwave or pay the same price and buy parts in hope that they will not go out again. Not really feeling lucky with the GE product.

We have GE Profile Quietpower 6 Dishwasher. We are the second owners of the home and did not buy it ourselves. But the dishwasher is no more than 3 years old. Our dishwasher also refused to turn off after it was done washing dishes, usually humming for hours afterward. One day, we came home and found that the whole house smelt of burnt plastic. Our dishwasher was burning hot and full of burnt plastic. It was off, so we unplugged it to make sure it would cool down. We dont expect any help from GE, but we will never buy GE ourselves. And we will make sure to tell our friends to never buy GE.

Purchased an entire line of GE appliances for kitchen after having prior (still working) appliances for 13 years. Have had at least 5 services calls and countless emails and phone calls for non functioning Dishwasher. Here is response from GE Manager: I have reviewed the pictures and no I would re-wash those 4 dishes if they came out of my dishwasher prior to using them with my family. Dried on fruit, starches and dairy are tough for any dishwasher to take off as the sugars in them act like glue. Again for these types of foods we would highly recommend more pre-washing to make sure that they are not left on the dishes after the dishwashing cycle. CAUTION: DO NOT BUY.

All I wanted to do was eat dinner with my husband and I wound up on the internet for an hour trying to figure out how to make our microwave work. There is some kind of thing that locks you out of using it. Very frustrating when you just want to eat dinner!! Nothing works and you have to google how do you unlock this piece of crap that you paid good money for and trusted the GE label. All we ever use is defrost food or time cook vegetables. If you want a complex computer, go for this thing. Otherwise, I suggest you go for a simpler microwave that you can depend on to work.

After about 5 months of owning the unit (GE dishwasher model GDT580SGFBB), the door latch sensor became defective and discontinued the wash cycle up to 6 times every use. I contacted the GE warranty department. Their consumer relations advocates treated me as subhuman. I never felt like a valued customer, my concerns and my time were never a priority. Instead I became a part of their research and development program while beta testing a defective product. After 6 months of futile repairs requiring multiple technician visits I was exasperated. I had submitted 4 separate warranty claims that often were mysteriously closed without my knowledge. I finally contacted the original retailer, Home Depot, and shared my experience. They catered to me even though it was well past the 90-day store policy. They gave me a credit for the purchase price so I could choose a replacement. Since I dont want to touch another GE appliance with a 10-ft pole, I chose another brand. Shortly thereafter I received a call from GEs Escalated Issues department offering to replace the unit. Evidently that lit a fire under them. But it was too late, my patience with GE has been exhausted. If this is the way GE wants to run their business, then it will be a fast-track way to dig their own grave.

However, we now have the paint peeling and flaking from the top and back interior wall of the microwave. Some spots have bare metal exposed. Contacted GE and they told me there was no fix for it other than replacing the device. Now they cannot replace the Microwave alone. The whole unit has to be replaced at a cost of ~ $2800.00. This is ridiculous. There should be a recall as there are several other complaints about similar issues.

No matter what it is whether it's a GE hot water heater, an iPhone, a car or a frozen TV dinner, you're going to find someone that had a bad experience. After a day of rain eight years after I put in my Home Depot GE hot water heater, the pilot was out. I don't know if it was wet in there or what but it took me 10 hours of repeated attempts and while I was searching online for answers and deals on replacing it, I kept trying. And tonight at 10:30 PM I didn't bugger about, I just held down the pilot for one minute, and then once the pilot remained lit on its own, as fast as I could I turned the thermostat to medium high and kaboom it lit up wonderfully. Maybe it dried out but I would not say that GE water heaters are a piece of Home Depot junk. As I said earlier I installed mine eight years ago and it has never had a problem and since tonight it restarted and I checked the tap and now have hot water. I suspect it will be fine but if I need a new one, eight years hasn't been a bad run. Just follow the instructions very carefully and repeat and repeat and repeat. Good luck.

After turning the power off and trying to blow out the flame, we opened the door cover to find the main circuit board still smoldering. One of the relays on the circuit board had caught fire and started to burn through the circuit board melting it, the plastic cover and the wire harnesses. We were lucky to be home and awake when this happened and were able to take care of it. If we had been gone or asleep we probably would have lost our home!

My Quiet Power 3 model GLD4450N10CS didnt clean well from installation (July 2008). But I ran the heavy wash as the norm. And I never used heated dry in case I had to rewash any of the contents. I ran my dishwash last evening. I went out to dinner and returned to a burning smell in my house. I opened my dishwasher and smoke came out. The plastics were melted. The cabinet next to my dishwash smelt of burning as well. The detergent table sat partially dissolved on the bottom of the washer. It took 2 hours to cool down. My dishwasher no longer goes into a wash cycle (even after unplugging it overnight). I have left it unplugged as I feel it is no longer safe. GE says it is $80 for service plus parts. And they said that if I dont repair it, I get $100 certificate to use online to order another GE. Its not worth it and I am very upset. I replaced all my appliance in 2008 with GE. My dryer had to be repaired. My washer was a lemon and they swapped it out for a new model. And now my dishwasher died and almost burned my house down.

When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.

Were using a white GE Digital Microwave Oven at home Model No. JEI2870SPSS. We got it from Ansons a few months ago when our previous Kyowa was broken beyond repair. The price is reasonable, the usable space inside is adequate and the exterior design goes well with our kitchen. It has touchpad controls which are very easy to use especially with the pre-programmed settings like steam cook and snacks. So far it has worked very well. Its quite excellent at defrosting meat and evenly heats our food. We have no problem cleaning it and its pretty silent when in use. I hope this one lasts us longer since its pricier than the Kyowa and because use of the microwave less these days because they say the radio waves emitted by these machines cause cancer.

I contacted by phone GEs customer service department (800-386-1215) on 2 separate occasions. The most recent was on 2/18/13. About 4 1/2 years ago, when we purchased our new house, we bought all new GE appliances for our kitchen and laundry room. My biggest complaint is with our dishwasher. The top and bottom racks are rusting and most of the prongs have broken off as a result. This should not happen for an appliance that is only about 4 1/2 years old. Their response was that I could purchase both the top and bottom rack. Why would I purchase the same racks only to have it happen again? Clearly this is happening because they used a poor quality steel. There was a recall not too long ago on our dishwasher and the service tech who came out to fix the recall couldnt believe how badly the racks have rusted. I understand there is no warranty; however, you would think or hope that the racks would last a lot longer than 4 1/2 years. I am very disappointed in the quality and the lack of help regarding this matter.

For the amt. of money I paid for this microwave, you would think it would outlast the house. I bought it 3 yrs ago. The touchpad covering started to get warped right off the bat, and the handle was always steaming hot when you used the stove top (also GE). The other day, while using the stove top, I happened to look at the microwave, and it had no power. I checked the breaker, it was fine. I happened to notice a crack on the touch pad. After further investigation, I noticed the entire touchpad is shattered. It was clearly from the heat given off from the stove top. And I wasnt even using the microwave at the time. I sent GE an email, didnt even get an auto response. I am going to call them, but we all know what they are going to say, and I am not paying $482 for the part. My GE dishwasher came with my new Miller & Smith house. Its 2 years old. The bottom tray is rusting in several spots and you cant open the door while in operation to add an extra dish. When you open the door the dishwasher should pause while you add the dish, but this one continues working as if the door was closed and water sprays everywhere. I understand the one year warranty (they must know their products do not last long). Their support line tells me my options are to get it repaired ($99.95 for a tech to come and diagnose, then additional charges for parts and labor to install the parts on the next visit). The bottom tray is ~$125. I found their customer service rude, unsympathetic, and bothered by my questions. I was also told to go their website and review the rebate offers on a new dishwasher. I wanted to understand that program better, but the customer service agent did seemed uninterested to help me.I was quite surprised in getting this poor quality product and poor service from GE. Im not going to bother with repairs, because the cost at least $300, so I will opt to put that money in a different brand. I was considering giving GE another chance and taking them up on their rebate offer, but after reading all these other reviews, I certainly will not. The time I spent writing this will very likely have no impact on making GE change, but maybe put a tiny dent in their reputation and they will get one less sale from me.

July 4th, 2010 - GE Profile Dishwasher, Model: PDW9200N00BB, Dishwasher had been humming after cycle was over for a little while, this night I walk into the kitchen late and find it full of smoke. Circuit board has a hole burned though it and wiring harness is melted. Never tripped any safety, could close the door and it would come right back on, smoke and all. This model was not on the recall list but I called GE anyway. After describing the fire they send someone out, then they send a new dishwasher out and install it. I assume they wanted the old one to look over or just to get rid of it. New washer installed the end of July 2010, new model number PDWT500R10BB. Today is 2012-02-02 and the new machine would not stop at end of cycle (Got down to 1 minute and stay there for at least 20 minutes before we turned it off). This machine is now making the continuous hum after the cycle stops that the old one did before it caught on fire.Called GE, they said they could maybe go half on parts and service until they checked where I was located. (Wichita, KS. Area population 500,000+) They said that they didnt send factory techs to my area and I would need to contact a local repair service. I pointed out that they had a factory guy for when my machine was on fire and they said it was just a malfunction now, so they could not. No half on the price for repair either at this point. This is a $1100 to $1200 dishwasher with, as near as I can tell from complaints online, a history of going up in flames. I understand things break etc, but when you continue to put out products like this and then refuse to remedy the problem, I and anyone who will listened to me will never own anything GE again.

I purchased a GE Profile™ 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Sensor Microwave Oven and paid over $500. I have had it 3 years and in the first 6 months it broke. It was under warranty and the $400 fee (door replacement) was covered. Then it broke 1 1/2 years later and I received a quote for $200 in labor plus the cost of parts (no longer under warranty). When the repaid guy walked in the house he said, Oh, one of these. Is it the door? I said no, we already had the door replaced, but his comment was very telling that I purchased garbage. I fixed it myself for $10 - it was a fuse. Then it broke 2 weeks later and I believe it is the fuse again. I contacted GE because I believe I received a lemon and they are willing to give me parts at 50% and nothing more. This was the worst investment decision I ever made and I caution others to not purchase this microwave.

Two years ago, I replaced my 25-year-old GE bottom-of-the-line dishwasher because it made a noise like a freight train. I was ecstatically happy to have a brand new top-of-the-line stainless steel GE Profile dishwasher that hardly made a sound while working. Well, that is the best part of the new machine because it also hardly cleans. We have tried different detergents, additives, etc. We have checked our water temp, pressure, etc. Not only does the machine not clean all the silverware/dishes, it doesnt dissolve and remove all of the liquid detergent, so I have to run the machine through another rinse cycle. We are so frustrated in my house that we have finally given up and now hand wash our dishes. I hate this dishwasher and would never buy another GE product again! I also had an issue with a GE bottom freezer fridge. But thats another story. By the way, the old 25-year-old machine? It always got my dishes clean.

As part of the recall program, GE offered incentives towards the purchase of a new dishwasher; however, unless you purchased another GE dishwasher, you received virtually nothing. I purchased the top of the line GE Triton performance plus dishwasher and had it professionally installed, and given my previous dishwashers history, I purchased an extended warranty from GE. This new allegedly top of the line dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen, causing several thousand dollars in damage to the floor / sub floor and ceiling below. GE was contacted, came out, and made a repair; and my damage claim was paid by GEs insurance carrier Electric insurance. Once again, 2 years later, this same dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen and downstairs. I contacted GE and found that my warranty had been sold by GE to an outside company named Assurant without my knowledge. They were unable to provide me with a service appointment for about 2 weeks and advised me not to touch anything until the damage was documented by a GE technician or my damage claim would be denied. I contacted GE customer service and explained the circumstances and that the water damage would need to be mitigated in order to prevent additional damage to my home. GE scheduled a sooner appointment, but they failed to show up. I called GE again; they rescheduled for the following day and failed to show again. GE was re-contacted, and they scheduled a third appointment with A&E, a GE affiliated outside repair service. This time, the technician arrived but was unable to do anything unless I made a cash payment to him, as GE failed to include my extended warranty information when they booked my appointment. I re-contacted GE, and the next available appointment date was more than two weeks away. I was concerned that the water damage would cause mold and create an electrical hazard due to wet wiring, and the water caused the laminate floor and sub floor in my kitchen and downstairs den to warp and buckle. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance in order to get this damage addressed. GE has been unable to get anyone to my home to address the situation. In total, I have spent about 16 hours on the telephone remaining on hold an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours for each call, only to be told there was nothing they could do or that no supervisor was available or authorized to do anything. Assurant advised me they would look into it and get back to me, but I have yet to receive a return call. GE corporate headquarters was contacted, and they were polite but unable to accomplish anything either. I am removing the appliance myself and having it replaced at my own expense with any brand other than GE. I would strongly urge anyone making an appliance purchase to choose another brand; GEs appliances, customer service, and repair service are all unreliable and well below standards based on the hundreds of dollars we spend on appliances. My decision to purchase a GE dishwasher has resulted in damage to my home in excess of $10,000.00 and an unbelievable amount of frustration and aggravation waiting for repair personnel that dont show and waiting on hold to speak to people who can do nothing for you. If I performed this badly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago. Learn from my situation and dont buy GE!

About a year and a half ago, I bought a GE Profile dishwasher from a very reputable local dealer. Within 3 months, the digital control panel failed. Because it was still under warranty, the dealer replaced the panel. It failed again. This time they made other adjustments, it continued to fail. Finally GE suggested that the dealer replace the entire door panel, which they did. It took the repairman a couple of hours to do so. Still didnt work. Finally GE declared the machine non repairable and replaced it. Unfortunately the men who replaced the dishwasher didnt install quite correctly because it leaks. I keep a plastic container under the front left corner to collect the water every time the dishwasher runs. But the story doesnt end there. This machine and the first one both include a sensor that apparently check for objects that obstruct the spray arms. I dont know because theres nothing that tells me why the machine is beeping when I attempt to start it. I check the spray arms, move dishes, try to start it again and still get the beeper. I have done this over and over and over again and still it beeps. I have essentially emptied the dishwasher and it still beeps. When it does run, I have to use the boost temp. option and the longest cycle available to get dishes, and I mean dishes, even passably clean. Forget pots and pans, or casseroles. So, if you own a GE dishwasher, I hope that you have the old fashioned dishpan and dryer rack handy. Bottom line, it doesnt clean well, leaks, and beeps every single time I try to start it. Buy something else.

I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating
I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating and recommendation of the salesman. Worst dishwasher I have ever had by far (in 27 years)! Salesman didnt know it doesnt have a water heater. It worked so poorly I had a company repairman to look at the dishwasher within a week of delivery. He recommended we run the sink water until boiling before turning it on, always use normal power, steam and boost settings. The cutlery is still often dirty - you have to scrub all food off the cutlery and rinse until clean before putting it into the dishwasher. A year later, the dishwasher is not nearly as quiet and a cycle takes 4 hours. Because of the design, this machine loads quite a bit less than my old dishwasher. Overall, I am sure this dishwasher uses way more energy and I use more cycles per week. I wouldnt take this dishwasher if they were giving them away for free!

My 11-month-old GE Advantium oven no longer has any display, totally blank. When calling to make an appointment I was unable to speak to a live person but scheduled one for today from 1-5 pm. At 5 pm I received an automated call that the technician was running behind and would arrive in about an hour. By 8:30 pm no one called or came to repair my oven. At 4 pm when I was wondering if I would see a repairman I attempted to find on the internet a phone number that would connect me to a live person but had no luck. I have no idea what company is being sent out to make the repairs so that I can get in touch with them. Their service sucks.

GE appliances were installed in my new build home including a brand new, never used microwave. When we did our walkthroughs the microwave appeared to work (turned on, timer ran, etc.) but after signing we found out that the unit was a dud and the microwave emitter did not work so nothing was ever heated regardless of the run time. We have called GE several times only to get extremely rude and dismissive customer service reps (“Audrey” if that was even her real name). They refuse to replace a brand new unit that never worked and insist on trying to repair it, but we are also being told that this will take several trips as the technician will only first come to inspect it then a second trip will be needed to bring out the necessary parts (they don’t carry them in the truck because they are “fragile”). I’ll never be using a GE product again.

GE dishwasher model # GDF610PGJ5BB was fine the first year and a half. It began making noise with electronic control panel beeping for no reason. The wash cycles were incredibly long. Finally after reaching the 26 month mark, the electronic panel gave out. Having no warranty, I called the repair division of the appliance store we had purchased it from. They were to charge me $90 just to come out and look at it. With the purchase price just under $500, I wasnt willing to take the chance of repair costing a third or half of the purchase price. Regretfully, we decided to give up on repair of this dishwasher. We decided to purchase a new dishwasher, but certainly not a GE.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher, model PDW9880J00ss, in July 2005, along with GE range, refrigerator and microwave oven. We have had nothing but trouble with them. Most currently, the power board did not shut off at the end of the cycle, overheated and melted the harness also. We were alerted when the odor of burnt plastic filled our home. It was fortunate that we were home and in the next room, or our house could have burned down. The dishwasher cannot be repaired. I will contact GE to see what, if anything they will do to compensate me, but I am not optimistic. I will never buy GL products again. I thought by buying top of the line products from a well-known manufacturer, I would have a quality product. I was totally wrong. Sometimes, you dont get what you pay for.

Had to wait up to four hours for service person each time. Also, parts were on back order. Had to wait weeks for parts to arrive. Keep in mind these are BRAND new GE top of line appliances. And no parts to fix them. Service is terrible. GE not the same company as years past. I would NEVER EVER buy this brand again. What a hassle. Still waiting for parts. My dealer even called to help and GE would not even help the dealer expedite the problem. Total lack of good customer service when you have a problem.

We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

My husband and I bought a GE dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in April 2011. We installed it in our new home in May 2011. It has never cleaned our dishes properly. Our dishes come out of the dishwasher with a film on them and do not look clean at all. I called GE in July. They sent out a repair person who proceeded to tell me that we were not cleaning our dishes well enough. The person also told me that our water wasnt hot enough, we didnt clean our dishwasher out often enough, etc. After I corrected everything, the repairman suggested our dishwasher still wasnt working properly. So, we called GE back. We have since had two additional repair men out. Neither one has been able to repair the dishwasher. The last repairman replaced a valve he thought might be broken. However, it is still working the same. I am absolutely disgusted with the experience I have had with GE.

This unit was purchased at Lowes on 11/22/16 and installed by our plumber shortly thereafter. Its not even 6 months old! It was poor at drying at first and then stopped drying altogether about a month ago. The GE Customer Service has sent a repairman here on 4 occasions in the past few weeks, sent faulty parts, including an element and a board (Im guessing that they mean a motherboard) but it is still swimming in water. Ive asked them to replace the dishwasher, to which they have refused. Yes we are irate, and rightly so. Whatever happened to quality manufacturing and decent customer service? I will never buy another GE product again. There should be lemon laws for appliances. Now we are being informed that the parts are back ordered until September, but that they might be able to get them from California on or about the 25th. Their apologies mean nothing when they do not back it up by amending the situation in an appropriate manner. By the way it takes 256 minutes for a full cycle. The plus side is that it is very quiet, but Im not sure how energy efficient a dishwasher can be that runs that blasted long. It doesnt clean very well either. If considering the dishwasher or another appliance, stay away from GE Is our recommendation.

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitch
We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

All GE kitchen appliances delivered on time, but the dishwasher has been a nightmare. Started leaking right away, called GE and they couldnt come back out for 3 whole days after installing it, which ended up being a work day - so had to miss work to wait all day when he didnt come until 5 pm. Tried to make us pay for the service - we havent even used the dishwasher and they think we are going to pay them to come out fix their mistake, also under a 1 year warranty. Tech guy came out ran some computer test - didnt even look at the dishwasher or underneath. Test was good, we asked him to stay a few extra minutes and he said thats not his job. Leaked again. GE argued that we didnt get it installed by them, which was a lie. Same tech guy came out again, on a workday Again so missed work - finally figured out what was wrong, ordered the part. The part wasnt coming in for another week. So we Waited Another week without a dishwasher. When that day came We again missed work because they said between 1-5 and didnt even show up. GE tried to say the part wasnt in but we were holding the part when we asked where they were. Infuriating at that point already missed so much work days and GE employees couldnt even do their job. GE rescheduled the appointment without even telling us. Had to wait another week until they finally came out and fixed the dishwasher. Now almost a month after they delivered the appliances, I received a charge and didnt not even email to let us know we were being charged. We purchased our GE Cafe stainless steel dishwasher in May of 2012. Periodically, it leaks around the bottom of the door. I have to put a plastic container on the floor to catch the water. This is bad enough and very disappointing, but the next and most important issue I have with it is the fact that it doesnt clean properly. I always, each and every load, rewash 3 to 4 items. The stainless handles also get very hot to the touch, which isnt very safe for a toddler. If I had the strength, Id pick it up and throw it out the back door. A dishwasher is designed to do one thing, wash dishes; its not a difficult concept. It is supposed to make life easier, not harder.
