How important is dishwasher's metal tub really?
Posted On: October 5, 2023

I've seen a lot of threads of people asking if a metal tub is important or worth the cost, but with no one really answering the question.

I've only had metal tub dishwashers because they were just in the homes I lived in. Mine died and I'm tired of not having a dishwasher, so I'm shopping around. .

How important is metal vs plastic tub? .

I'm in Canada and primarily looking at Costco's selection. The Bosch 100 series with the bar handle has my attention at the moment.

Question from user Spyrothedragon9972 at Appliances at reddit.com.

Answer:

(Bosch 800 owner here).

Metal tubs help with the post-wash condensation. It cools quicker and the humidity condenses on the tub and runs down the sides instead of on the dishes. This is Boschs big thing with their dishwashers, everything up to the 800 model uses it to dry. The 800s and up have a full stainless interior and also have the CrystalDry which acts similar to a heating element.
