LG Appliance Troubleshooting
LG appliances are built around the way you live. Whether your style is modern or traditional, our appliances’ innovative and intuitive resource-saving solutions are there to make life easier in your kitchen and your laundry room.
Dishwasher Troubleshooting
The Dishwasher Does Not Operate
Step 1
Check that the door is completely closed and latched, and that a cycle has been selected. If the door is not closed, or a cycle hasn't been selected, the machine will not operate.
Step 2
Check that the power supply is connected and switched on. Check that no fuses have blown--replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker if needed.
Step 3
Check that the water faucet is connected and functioning. The machine will not operate if no water is being supplied.
A Cycle Takes a Long Time to Complete
Step 1
Check that hot water is being supplied by running a hot water tap and testing the temperature. If cold water is being supplied, the need to heat the water makes the machine take longer to cycle.
Step 2
See that the dishwasher is connected to the hot water line, not the cold water line. Swap if needed.
Step 3
Your dishwasher will have been supplied with a PVC hose to link the water inlets at the back of the appliance to miniature valves connected to the household plumbing. Make sure the valve is turned off. The valve lever should be at right angles to the pipe.
Step 4
Disconnect the hose by unscrewing it. This should be possible by hand, but if needed, carefully use a wrench to loosen it.
Step 5
Check that the threads of the attachment are not worn or damaged, and replace with new hose if needed. Attach to the hot water supply, firmly tighten by hand and turn the water valve on.
Bits of Food Remain on the Dishes
Step 1
Check that you have selected the right cycle based on dish types and degree of washing, and used the right amount of detergent.
Step 2
Check that the water temperature is high enough. Ensure that the hot water faucet is connected, not the cold one. See Section 2 for directions on how to change over if needed.
Step 3
Turn on a hot water tap and see whether the pressure or flow of water seems reduced. Low inlet water pressure could cause this; the water pressure of the supply to the dishwasher should be between 20 and 120 psi. Normal residential water systems are designed to function at a pressure of pressure of 40 to 70 psi. A water pressure gauge can be used to test water pressure if it seems low. Options should be discussed with a plumber if your water pressure is low.
Step 4
Check to see that the water jet holes of the spray arms aren't blocked. Clean the arms to unblock the holes if needed.
Step 5
Check how the machine is being loaded. Improper dish loading can reduce cleaning effectiveness. Dishes shouldn't interrupt the arm rotation and detergent dispensing.
Spots and Filming on Dishes
Step 1
Check that the rinse aid dispenser is not empty. Fill if needed To add rinse aid, rotate the round cap on the dispenser tray counterclockwise and remove it. The tray is next to the detergent dispenser on the inside of the door. Add a liquid rinse aid to the maximum level. Replace and lock the cap. Check that the correct amount of detergent is being used.
Step 2
Check that the dishwasher is being loaded as per the user instructions. The dishwasher should not be overloaded--improper loading and overloading affects the water and detergent circulation.
Step 3
Low water temperature can be the problem. The supplied water temperature should be 120 degrees Fahrenheit for the best washing performance. Run a hot water faucet to check that the hot water supply is functioning.
Step 4
Low inlet water pressure could be the problem. The water pressure of the supply to the dishwasher should be between 20 and 120 psi. Normal residential water systems are designed to function at a pressure of pressure of 40 to 70 psi. Turn on a hot water tap and see if the pressure or flow of water seems reduced. A water pressure gauge can be used to test water pressure if it seems low. Options should be discussed with a plumber if your water pressure is low.
Step 5
Extremely hard water can cause filming on dishes in a dishwasher and cause damage to the machine. Install a home water softener if you are in a hard water area.
Noises
Step 1
A clunk as the detergent cover opens and drainage sounds are normal. If the noises relate to either of these, then there is nothing wrong.
Step 2
Consistent noises can be caused by the machine not being fully horizontal. Check that the machine is level by using a spirit level. Adjust the feet and/or reposition the machine until it is level.
Step 3
Badly positioned dishes can cause a nozzle arm to knock against the dishes. Check that the washer is correctly loaded.
Cloudiness on Glassware
Step 1
A combination of excessive detergent and soft water can cause this. Use a little less detergent.
Step 2
Under-load the dishwasher to allow more effective rinsing.
Step 3
Use a rinse aid. To add rinse aid, rotate the round cap on the dispenser tray counterclockwise and remove it. The tray is next to the detergent dispenser on the inside of the door. Add a liquid rinse aid to the maximum level. Replace and lock the cap.
Dryer Troubleshooting
Step 1
Inspect the dryer vent to ensure it is clear of lint and debris. When lint accumulates in the dryer vent and restricts airflow, the dryer is unable to circulate air.
Step 2
Check the LG dryer power breaker at the lighting panel, when your unit will not start. Generally, an electrical disruption such as a faulty fuse or breaker is the culprit. Inspect the power plug at the outlet to ensure it is plugged in completely.
Step 3
Inspect the inside face of the door, and remove any lint buildup around the door's seal that may prevent it from closing completely. If the door switch does not make contact when the dryer door is shut, the safety interlock will prevent the dryer from starting.
Step 4
Adjust the dryer's feet, and make it level, if it's making noise, or shaking while operating. Dryer feet are located at each corner of the machine. Screwing the feet clockwise will lower that corner of the dryer. Screwing the feet counterclockwise will raise the respective corner.
Microwave Troubleshooting
Microwave and Internal Light Do Not Work
Step 1
Check your main fuse box and make sure the circuit breaker is not tripped. Reset the circuit by flipping the breaker off and on again.
Step 2
Ensure that your microwave is properly plugged in to a dedicated outlet. If it is, unplug the appliance and try another outlet.
Step 3
Locate the internal lightbulb and make sure it is screwed in properly and that it is not defective. Replace with another recommended LG lightbulb if need be.
Microwave Does Not Cook or Cooks Incorrectly
Step 1
Make sure the microwave door is firmly closed. Do not use dishes that are too large for the appliance.
Step 2
Set the correct cook time and press the "Start" button. Press "Clear" and try again if the microwave will not start. Be sure not to use the "Timer" function when attempting to cook.
Step 3
Select the correct power level if your food seems over- or undercooked.
Step 4
Follow all recipes and directions closely. Make sure proper dishes and cooking times are selected.
Step 5
Defrost all food before cooking. Frozen foods will not cook evenly.
Microwave Emits Sparks
Step 1
Use only microwave-safe dishes and containers.
Step 2
Never place twist ties or other metal fasteners in your LG Over-the-Range microwave.
Step 3
Do not operate the appliance when it is empty.
Step 4
Check the metal microwave oven rack. All four corners must be correctly seated on plastic supports.
Range Troubleshooting
LG Oven not heating
The igniter is the most commonly defective part for an oven not heating. The igniter has two main functions. First, the igniter draws electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. Second, the igniter gets hot enough to glow and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter gets weak, it will fail to open the safety valve correctly. If the valve does not open, the oven will not heat. To determine if the igniter is defective, observe the igniter when the oven is on. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve. If the igniter is weak, replace it. If the igniter does not glow at all, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Oven doesn't bake evenly
If the bake element is burned out, the oven will only be heated by the broil element. This will cause the oven to heat unevenly. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the bake element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Oven broiler not working
The broiler element may have burned out. When the broil element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the broil element for holes or blisters. To determine if the broil element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the broil element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Stove heating element not working
The surface element board has relays that regulate the power supply to the burners. If one or more of the relays fails, the surface element won’t work. If two or more burners fail at the same time, this indicates that the surface element board is likely at fault. If only one surface element won’t work, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the surface element has continuity, the surface element board might be defective.
LG Stove burner won't light
The spark modules provides power to each surface burner spark electrode. If the burner is produces a weak spark, or if the burner sparks intermittently, the spark module might be defective. Before replacing the spark module, first check the spark electrode and the spark wire. If the spark electrode and spark wire are not at fault, the spark module is likely defective. If the spark module is defective, replace it.
LG Oven temperature not accurate
When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
Refrigerator Troubleshooting
LG Refrigerator not cooling
The condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as refrigerant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won’t dissipate the heat effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the refrigerator becomes less efficient, causing the refrigerator to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty—if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.
LG Refrigerator water dispenser not working
To determine if the water supply tube is frozen, disconnect the tube at the bottom of the door and blow air through it. If air does not pass through, this indicates that the water supply tube is frozen. If the water supply tube is frozen, thaw it out. In addition, ensure that the freezer is kept at the proper temperature. The freezer temperature should be kept from 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit. If the freezer is too cold, the water line may freeze.
LG Refrigerator ice maker not working
If the freezer temperature is above 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12C), the ice maker will not produce ice cubes efficiently. The freezer temperature should be set between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15C) for the ice maker to work properly. If the freezer temperature is too high, ensure that the condenser coils are clear of debris and the condenser fan is working properly. In addition, check to see if frost has accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, part of the defrost system has likely failed.
LG Refrigerator ice dispenser not working
The dispenser control board governs most of the functions of the dispenser system. If the control board is faulty, it may stop supplying power to the entire dispenser system. If only one dispenser part is not working, test each of the dispenser components before testing the control board. It is more likely that a single part has failed. If the entire dispenser system is not working, the control board is more likely to be at fault.
LG Refrigerator not defrosting
The defrost control board determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not go into the defrost cycle. Before replacing the defrost control board, first test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If the defrost heater and defrost thermostat are working properly, the defrost control board is likely defective.
LG Refrigerator is noisy or loud
If the refrigerator is noisy or loud, especially when one of the doors are opened, either the evaporator or condenser fan blade may be at fault. First, check out the evaporator fan blade in the freezer behind the back panel. Try turning it by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, check to see if the blade is rubbing against something or if something is caught in the blade. Additionally, check the condenser fan blade in the back underside of the refrigerator to determine if it has any obstructions.
Television Troubleshooting
TV Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
Losing Wi-Fi connectivity is the most commonly faced issue among LG TV users.
This problem can occur due to several reasons, such as a temporary bug, router issues, or weak signals.
Before doing anything with your TV, first, try connecting any other Wi-Fi to the TV. This will help you figure out whether it is the router issue or something is wrong with your TV.
If the TV gets connected to some other Wi-Fi network, then something must have gone bad with the TV.
You can follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem.
• Restart the TV by disconnecting the power supply and then reconnecting after a few minutes.
• Power off any nearby electronic devices like a microwave oven. These devices may be causing interference.
• If there is an issue with the router, try restarting the router and then connecting the network.
• Make sure that your TV has updated software as that can also be the reason behind it.
LG TV Screen Problems
If you see your LG TV turning on and off on its own or the screen going completely blank, the problem might be occurring because of the faulty capacitors on the board. Apart from this, it can also be due to less power input.
To troubleshoot this issue, you can follow the instructions listed below.
• Check your power inputs and make sure your TV cables are properly connected.
• Unplug the main power cord and plug it back in after about half a minute.
• If this does not work, then there is a possibility that the issue is with the capacitor or any other internal component. For this, you might need assistance from a highly-skilled technician.
LG TV Not Responding To Remote
If your LG TV does not respond to the remote, you can try the following steps to make it work.
Whether you have a magic remote or the standard remote, you can easily solve this issue.
• Firstly if none of the buttons work, try replacing the batteries. Make sure that you place them properly, matching the + and – signs. Also, do not mix the old with the new ones.
• Make sure that no obstructions are blocking the IR signals.
• If you have a magic remote, you can try unregistering and re-registering the magic remote if only some of the buttons are working.
LG TV No Sound
You might face this issue with your LG TV in that there is no sound output from the speaker or not having no audio signals.
This problem is known to occur due to the failure of fuses.
You can troubleshoot it by rebooting your TV, and there are two ways to do it.
• Turn off the TV, remove the power cord and place it back after a few minutes.
• The second method requires long-press the volume button and power key simultaneously on the remote till it reboots. You can release the buttons once the LG logo appears on the screen.
If this doesn’t work, try resetting the audio settings on your TV. This can be done like this:
• On your TV remote, press the “Menu” button.
• Select “Audio” and press “Enter.”
• Click “reset” and then enter.
• You can change the audio setting as your preference and exit the settings.
If still, the problem continues to occur, try pairing external speakers. If the audio is heard through external speakers, then you need to get your TV speaker checked by a professional.
Inconsistent Colors
The issues with the colors usually begin when the TV turns off by itself, and a popping sound is heard after that.
Once this happens, you might now get inconsistent colors on your screen, just like the color green gets changed.
This problem is known to occur because of the power supply or the TV being overused. Often we see that a faulty capacitor inside the TV causes such issues.
To solve the problem, you may want to get your TV checked by a professional from an authorized repair center and get the damage repaired.
Horizontal or Vertical Bars Appearing on the Screen
The continuous horizontal lines from the top to the bottom region of the TV screen are indeed very irritating.
This is known to occur due to the weak signal strength your TV is receiving. Damage to the display panel can also trigger this issue.
The solution to it can be highly efficient signal input. For this, you can use a box cable like a high-definition set-top box.
If your software needs an update, make sure you do it, as this can also help get rid of such horizontal or vertical bars’ appearance.
Sound With No Picture
If no picture appears on your LG TV screen, but still you can hear the sound, there must be some backlight issues (if you have an LCD screen), a temporary glitch, an interrupted power supply, or outdated software.
However, that means that your TV is still alive, and you can simply solve the issue by following these steps.
• Try rebooting your TV. You can do this by unplugging the TV from the power supply. After about 10 minutes, plug it back in and then long-press the “power button” on the remote for 15 seconds.
• Check for the cables. If they are loosely connected to HDMI cables or other sound and video-related cables, make sure you do it properly.
• If you have an LCD screen, you must check for its screen. To do it, take a flashlight and hold it close to the TV screen. If you see any picture where the light is being shed, then this indicates that the backlight is broken. This will need a repair, or you must upgrade to a new smart LG TV or a new TV Brand.
False Countering or Posterization
On the screen, you might get to see some unrealistic solid color strips. This issue is known to be false countering to posterization.
This usually happens when the TV screen is unable to handle the colors of the video content properly.
LG has not provided any long-term fix for this issue yet. However, all you can do is check the display before purchasing a TV.
Check for any signs of banding when you test the display. If you already have purchased a TV and experiencing the issue, you can go to the color settings of your TV and try adjusting some features which seem to reduce the effect of banding.

Washer Troubleshooting
Failure to Operate
When your LG washer won’t turn on, check to see if the power cord is properly plugged into a three-prong, 120-VAC outlet. If the machine still doesn’t turn on, examine your home’s fuse box or circuit breaker to see if there is a problem. Replace a blown fuse or reset the circuit breaker if necessary. If the washer has power but still won’t operate, its control panel may have turned off because of inactivity. Press the power button to turn it back on. Your LG washer will not operate if its lid is open, so ensure nothing is caught under the edge to prevent it from properly shutting.
Strange Sounds
The washer may make strange sounds that indicate certain issues. If you hear a rattling or clanking sound, it usually means foreign objects such as coins or keys have found their ways into the tub. Turn off the washer and check the tub and filter for foreign objects. Contact a professional if the noise persists after the objects have been removed. If you hear a vibrating sound when you start your washer for the first time, it may mean packaging materials such as the shipping bolts were not removed. Consult your manual to determine the proper method for removal. The machine may vibrate if it’s not level. Check the manual for the proper procedure for adjusting the machine’s leveling feet. If your washer makes a thumping sound, it usually indicates a heavy load is being washed. The noise is normal, but if it persists, the washer may be out of balance. Stop the cycle and redistribute the load for proper balance.
Water Woes
When water leaks around your LG washer, the inlet hose connection may be loose. Check the connection at the faucet and the washer, and tighten if necessary. Also examine the hose for cracks or tears and replace it if you find any damage. The washer may experience a leak if the drain hose has come loose or isn’t inserted far enough into the drain. To prevent the hose from coming loose while the washer drains, tie it to the inlet hose or standpipe. Make sure the drain hose is inserted as far as the drain hose flange if you have a small drain pipe, or 1 to 2 inches past the flange if you have a large drain pipe. Your washer may leak if your home’s drain pipes are clogged. Check to see if water is backing up from the pipe when the machine drains. If it backs up, contact a plumber to remove the clog.
Failure to Rinse
If the washer fails to rinse a load, there may be an issue with the amount of detergent used. Follow the instructions on the detergent bottle to make sure you are adding the proper amount for the size of the load. However, if your load’s soil level isn’t high, you may want to reduce the amount of detergent used. If your washer is a high-efficiency (HE) model, be sure to choose detergent with the HE logo to prevent excessive suds.

Updated on 11/13/2019: Another 2 days have gone by and it is 4 pm and the LG service people have not shown up again. Consumer Affairs keeps say there are holding things up due to the fact they cannot find our refrigerator by the serial number. I would like to take a picture of it, but they don’t tell me where to send it. My husband send a copy of our receipt over a week ago, but that doesn’t seem to be enough! We have been without a refrigerator since October 3rd- guess my next step is The Better Business Bureau. Every day they promise something it it never seems to happen. I lost over $400 in food plus 6 weeks of eating out. My house is up for sale and how do you think a non-working refrigerator looks to people looking at our house! LG Service is the worst.Updated on 11/11/2019: This is a follow up to a previous review.... After 6 weeks without a refrigerator we were scheduled service for the 3rd time, today between 1& 5- took off of work again (they told us this would be a 3 hour repair) and guess what they call us at 1:30 to cancel our appt for today! Will never buy another LG product just because their set ice is so bad!Original Review: On October 3rd, I called for Service on my LG refrigerator- they did some sort of scan from my phone and told me the refrigerator was fine and I must have left the door ajar and that is why things were warm and ice was melting. I was told to unplug my refrigerator for about 15 minutes, plug it back in and keep door closed for at least 6 hours and I should be fine. I went to bed, got up the next morning and everything in my freezer was thawed and refrigerator was warm, so needless to say I had to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of food.I called again, they wanted to send a repairman out the following Monday and not before, well we were leaving town Sunday for my son’s wedding. Service was then scheduled for October 18th. When they came on the 18th I was told I needed a new compressor on my 3 year old refrigerator which was still under warranty. But it would take them 10 days to get the parts. Service was set up for October 28th between 8 and 12 and I was told it may take 3 hours, so I took the day off of work.Well, the 28th comes but only 2 of 3 parts had been delivered, so they did not come. Then it was rescheduled for today 10/30, but parts still are not in....after many phone calls and not getting any real answers - we have asked for a new refrigerator they say you have to have 3 service calls for the same complaint or if they can’t get the parts from 30 days after service call. Well even though we called on 10/3, the 30 days starts on 10/18 when the service man actually came to our house. So, apparently we have to wait now til 11/18 if the part doesn’t come in - that is 6 weeks without a refrigerator. I will never buy LG again!
Bought new LG dishwasher at Sears, not knowing there was a service bulletin on this particular machine concerning a door design flaw that caused a leak. When ours started leaking shortly after the warranty expired, LG wouldnt do anything. Customer service was rude, confrontational, and borderline belligerent. We were unable to get the dishwasher to quit leaking without spending more on it than it was worth, so we yanked it and replaced it with a Whirlpool. It works great. We will NEVER buy any LG product ever again.
I unfortunately purchased an LG brand front load washer and dryer from Home Depot. I wish I would have done some research first because it would have saved me a lot of problems. The washer is very high maintenance in which you have to drain it and clean out the trap. At least once a month, there are cleaning pouches that Tide makes that you have to use to clean out the washer. It seems no matter how often I use the pouches and drain it, my clothes have a musty smell. One of my biggest complaints is that I can not wash a lot of my blankets and comforters because they get too heavy and off balance the drum no matter if I try repositioning them.
I purchased an 4.5 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Top Load Washer Featuring Powerful Stain Care Technology Model: WT4870CW in March 2014, in addition to the companion dryer. I purchased this product as reviews had been good, and the price was right. It has been the worst machine I have ever owned. In spite of trying various settings, and contacting the manufacturer, clothes just dont get clean, and even today, linens that I took out had more stains on them than when they went in. The clothes dont agitate, and even if you use a setting that adds more water, the clothes just dont move around. They come out in the same position as when you loaded the machine. Forget using a water-saving setting - the clothes are barely damp. The machine will go off balance if there is anything, even one item, that is of a different weight. It resets itself endlessly. I miss my old Maytag and cant wait for a reason to get rid of the LG Washer. The drier is also a problem, but I guess I can live with wrinkled clothes more than I can with dirty ones. Dont buy an LG.
I bought a LG Over the oven Microwave about two years ago. It just suddenly died on me after gentle use. I went to heat up a small meal and realized the thing was totally dead. It did not show the time, the inside light was not on - nothing. I checked my house power outlet to make sure it was ok and it was. So, it was the microwave that was not working. I will never buy another LG product. And I will also tell everyone not to buy their products.
Lots of space, keeps food cold in the fridge without getting too cold. Price wasnt that bad. It is a great refrigerator. It has met all of my expectations. Chose it because of the price and the dependability.
My LG clothes dryer (model #DLEX5170W) stopped working during my first year of ownership. That was just the start of my problems. Getting someone in customer service @ LG was another part of the problem: they put the burden on you and told me I didnt have enough electric power (I had plenty) & had to hire a certified electrician and get more power. The electrician (at my cost) said I had plenty of power. Called LG back and they still had me jump through hoops but finally set up an appt. with Jimmys Same Day Appliance to come to my home one afternoon, LG said, between 1 and 7 on a Friday. He never showed and never called. (I have caller ID, so I know he never called)! What a waste of time. LG set up a 2nd appt. for the following Monday with the same guy/co. to come between 11-3 and at 12:30 he called to say his daughter fell at school and hurt her arm and he was going to the hospital and doubted he would make it today. At least this time he called. I called LG....another ten to twenty minute call, and requested a different service tech, and got one for tomorrow between 1 and 5 pm. What a nightmare. Had I known LG products break down during their first year and that customer service is so difficult I never would have bought their product! Never will again!
Bought a Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator 795.74032.411 in July 2015 and really regret that decision. Less than 30 day after the 1 year warranty expired, got an error code indicating there was a bad control board or fan. Tech replaced the fan was first and that did not fix the issue, so then control board. Reading on line reports, this was a known issue with the LG control board. So $350 later, it was working again. Then a few month later, the ice maker started icing up. Turns out that the waterline running into the door has a know issue also. So tech had to order a new door (over $500) and with labor, total cost was over $850 for that failure. About a year later, started hearing a loud noise when a fan kicked on. This turned out to be a bad fan behind the rear panel in the refrigerator section. That was a $200 dollar repair (parts and labor).Shortly after that repair, the same fan started making noise again. This time the housing around the fan had shifted because of tension being place on the housing that way it is installed, making contact with the fan blades. Tech was able to readjust the housing to not touch the fan blades. But another $100 service charge. Now the Sealed System is out. The Sealed System is under warranty, but very hard to find anyone to do the repair. Sears is coming out next week, but the warranty only covers the parts. So labor will be $99 just to get them to look at it. The tech that looked at it yesterday (another $100 charge), indicates it likely the compressor, but he was not allowed to replace parts covered by warranty. Said I had to contact a Sears or LG for warranty repairs.
We got the fridge, due to its size and easy storage design. However, the compressor has been miserable to deal with. It failed about 36 Months in, and the warranty had us paying $250 in labor. Fast forward 18 months later, and its failed again... I cant wait to get rid of this. Its been the worst appliance weve ever owned.
LRFC22750ST - Bought new and 2 months later, the plastic tabs that hold French doors break so they have to replace both upper door assemblies because they dont sell the $2 part. Oops! The new doors dont match so now they have to order the bottom freezer door because they dont carry that style of door anymore. Sold fridge with house. Done? Nope! New house has same fridge, with broken tabs! Then the door switch fails and the lights stay on and cooks the food on the top shelf, slags the temp control unit and lens. Since you cant buy parts, I temporarily solved problem by replacing bulbs with LED ones (they dont generate much heat). Everyone Ive spoken to has similar issues as others here have listed. Bad business LG! Very short term thinking! You are creating an army of anti-LG activists.
We got an LG 7551 dishwasher in 2013. Not long out of warrant it began squealing. Put vinegar in to make a temporary fix. Tines always collapsing causing plates etc to fall over. (LG actually replaced both racks under warranty but no difference.) 3.5 years into ownership started getting E1 error. Uninstalled it, re-leveled it, re-did the drain and looped it correctly all gave temporary fixes lasting weeks to months. Now it is happening more frequently and doubt it is worth a service call to fix a now 5 year old unit. A lot of upkeep and maintenance for the near top of the line LG dishwasher. Very disappointing.
After 3 years needed minor repair. LG wouldn’t sell me the part. Had to pay LG repair guy to do a job I could easily do. Very annoying. After 5 years door seal went. Called. They said weld broke on drum. $800 for parts not worth fixing. Single man after 5 years. The quality of consumer products today is so low I feel like a fool recycling my pop tins and putting my washer in a landfill after 5 years. Stop building throwaway products would be a far better way of recycling. Get rid of all the people that say no profit in that.
I miss that beater bar the regular machines have. This washer does not remove the sweaty odors very well. I end up soaking my clothes for hours before washing, and then, some do not smell clean. I have tried numerous techniques, some are good. I just have to place my outdoor clothes in a separate container to soak in a solution before washing...
I bought an LG refrigerator and it broke, and I had a horrible experience. The customer service people were polite. But the whole system is not set up properly, so they could not fix my refrigerator for three weeks. And no one can live without a refrigerator that long. So, I had to buy a new one. And I didn’t go with LG. My LG was a two and a half year old refrigerator. Nobody spends $1,800 every two years. While it worked, it was good. We had no problem. But once it broke, the maintenance support was very bad. And I was not the only one. There were reviews after reviews about people having the same experience with getting the repair done.
Bought LG french door refrigerator one year ago and died on me 2 days ago. Called LG customer service and asked to come out asap but they scheduled me 2 days after. More than half of my foods worth $300 had to be thrown away. I live in Valencia weather over 105 degrees and was very frustrated had to wait for them at this weather. They schedule me on time frame from 10-5 pm to wait for them. Still waiting and cant get out of the house all day since it was a emergency matter of food being melted and rotten. I called local tech to see what is wrong and charged me $70. When I called LG support to reimburse money I had to spend they said they cannot give money back. I was very disappointed how they deal with issue. This is brand new LG refrigerator paid $2700 and main compressor dies in a year doesnt make sense whatsoever. I will not be buying LG Appliance anymore.
I bought a beautiful LG refrigerator in 2017. It stopped working 3 days ago. LG said they could schedule a service in EIGHT DAYS, even though its 95 degrees, and we have a house full of kids who cant go to school due to COVID. I asked for something sooner and they kept me on hold for almost 2 hours with a pair of two-minute convos before HANGING UP ON ME. I looked this up online, and this clearly is a HUGE problem for a lot of people. What a terrible customer service experience from what WAS a well-respected company.
I purchased this refrigerator on 12/07/2018. From day one the ice maker did not work. Upon contact with LG they scheduled repair. First company failed to show twice. Ice make replaced twice. No fix. Then they required a second company to come. Again ice make replaced along with hoses and finally they sent a brand new door. Still the ice maker does not work. Today This repair company contacted the technical center to disclose it was not repairable. Tenth appointment. It is now August 12th, 2019 and I do not have this problem repaired. Beyond frustrated. You do not spend this type of money to have something not function. I would love to understand how this is good customer service.
Purchased LG LDC22720ST/03 refrigerator in October 2010. The icemaker in the freezer has been replaced three times. The product is designed poorly and does not last for 1 year. The appliance repair company says that LG has not made a new icemaker to replace this defective design. The new icemakers are costly and the company needs to correct this defective product. Very unhappy with icemaker!
When I first got my LG washing machine in two thousand and 10 all seem to work well, and then all of a sudden on certain items of clothing it leaves oil stains on the clothes. I just write a review showing that someone else had the exact same problem, with no luck in getting a response. I guess its time to buy a new machine.
About 3 years ago I purchased an LG dishwasher Model LDP6797ST. I was very happy with it at first until about 1 year and a couple of months. One day a received the error message AE. At the time I did not know what it stand for. I contacted LG and to their credit they sent a technician to repair the unit. What he did that day is replaced a circuit board at the door and the machine was working. And now 2 years later after the repair I received the same AE error message. The thing is that error message according to LG is a water leak. I called a repairman who confirm I have a leak coming from the drain pump. It would cost about $600 to fix. In his word I better off buying a new dishwasher. I paid good money for that dishwasher (about $700) and it only last 3 yrs. I am not sure I will ever buy an LG appliance again. I am now again looking for dishwasher. Very disappointed.
I purchased an LG front loading stackable washer (Model #WM3270CW) in April 2018. I contacted Lowes (place of purchase) in May 2018 due to washer banging and shaking when spinning. Service rep came and adjusted front right leg and said problem was due to being unbalanced and issue now fixed. Washer still having same issues. Contacted Lowes again and was advised to contact LG as they were unable to fix the problem. LG service rep came in August and advised would do nothing since I had not removed the attached stackable dryer. Shortly thereafter 2 boxes containing parts was received from LG with no explanation. LG now tells me to contact Lowes to fix the problem since I will not remove the dryer. Explained to them that I am 61 yr old female unable to remove the dryer which made no difference to customer service rep. Will NEVER purchase LG product again!
Bought a new LG fridge in November 2017 from Home Depot (delivered Feb 18). Fridge was finally installed by my general contractor in January 2019 after kitchen renovation. Almost immediately, the fridge started to make a loud buzzing type noise. The noise is unbearable and can be heard in the other room while watching TV (to the point of needing to raise the TV volume), as well as when we are upstairs. The noise is non-stop and continues even when the fridge door is open. I called LG and they said that the compressor was defective as they are designed to shut off when the door was open. However, they said that the warranty is only for a year after original purchase (even though its been installed less than a year), and I would need to contact a repairman to have them come fix it, and they would not cover the cost of the repairman. I am now getting quotes to fix it for a few hundred dollars, which at that point I should just get a new fridge despite my fridge being used only 6 months. I will never again buy an LG product.
As a new home owner, we purchased a full line of LG products. Extremely excited to have the new sleek appliances in our new home, we felt accomplished. After 3 years of ownership, we started having a problem with the ice dispenser freezing. We called into the service desk. They said this wasnt covered in the manufacturers warranty. After replacing a few parts here and there (being parts changers), we decided to call in a repairman. They let us know that the problems we were having have been covered under the warranty, and that we needed to call LG back. After calling in the service center, they agreed to allow one of their servicemen come in and service our unit. Their technicians came in and removed our refrigerator (for 2 months). They brought it back with a new compressor and a bill for the labor. They explained that if the computer board on the front of the unit was not working, we would need to replace that portion out of pocket. So we purchased the circuit board ($100), but the unit still did not work. We called back in to LG. They said we purchased the wrong one. We needed to purchase the other ($80). So we did, but still nothing. After talking with a friend, I decided to purchase the capacitor. The part was delivered on Saturday. I installed the part and 10 minutes later, the part exploded. Literally, white smoke blowing into the ceiling of the kitchen. After replacing parts, paying for parts that were not the problem and getting the runaround from the service center, we purchased a Whirlpool. We will never purchase another LG product again. We will make sure that all of our friends and neighbors hear our story. Most of them have had the same problem with LG.
I am the owner of a 2 year old LG French door refrigerator that failed over Thanksgiving. Being it was the holidays, I took to dealing with the matter immediately by contacting LGs customer service department. In the initial conversation, we determined that the issue was likely the compressor, which if true, would be covered under warranty. Learning that an authorized technician was needed to service the appliance I was then given a phone number to a local service dealer in the Scottsdale area. This company did not return my call but, I was able to get through the week after Thanksgiving. They told me that they had only one technician on staff authorized and he was out of town for 3 weeks. This was not acceptable being the holidays and the fact that we had a full house.Through my own inquiry, I found one repair service willing to work on LG appliances... most would not because they have a pretty bad reputation it appears. The only issue, was that we needed to have him authorized. This I was able to begin through a chat with a member of the LG customer service department, however, the authorization was never put forward I was to discover. This required another online chat, some apologies and eventually a successful authorization for my serviceman. Now able to open the back of the appliance, indeed it was discovered to be an issue with leaking coolant and a faulty part (parts). Now began the test of getting the parts (under warranty) ordered and delivered to my repairman. The part was ordered and we waited. I requested that someone contact me to let me know when it would arrive. This was wishful thinking. I opened another chat to see where the part was and the LG agent could not find any information and asked for a PON number which I did not have. He said perhaps the part was on back order. To shorten a very long litany of my technician and myself spending hours of precious time getting the runaround with (excuse me) a very incompetent customer service system; my repairman was told after many conversations with the parts dept., that 30 day deadline was expired and we have to start all over again. So another chat last week resulted in a request for authorization again and I was told a rush request would be made for second authorization. I was also again promised that the agent would keep me posted. Yea right. Having no fridge for the holidays with a houseful of family is frustrating in and of itself and 2K plus fridge should not fail in just two years; add a complete run-around by the folks we trusted with hard earned money with their brand over many other choices on the market, to simply supply a part and authorize and repair completely beside myself. All I need is a warrantied part, a second authorization (since time expired because of LG inefficiency), an LG customer service person who will see the process through and an attempt by LG to stand by its motto; life is good. I believe all agree that those requests are reasonable. To date I have had 6 chats average 40 minutes each, three long phone calls, a long wait for the supervisor but disconnected after 20 minutes, 4 letter submissions and a technician about to give up because of time lost from numerous calls to the parts department and total frustration. The fridge failed 11-24-16 and todays date is 1-13-17 and zero success. If anyone knows of a way I can pressure these people for one or two damned parts; (that my service guy could have fixed it in one hour two months ago) please let me know.
So I bought an LG Top Loading Washing Machine, Model # WT1101CW in June of 2014. After about 6 weeks the washing machine started getting uneven loads, on small batches, normal-sized batches, even just a table cloth and placemats. This now happens about 60% of the loads, if not more often. It fills with TONS of WATER multiple times in an attempt to balance an already balanced load (I take several minutes now to load the washer to make sure its perfect) and has skyrocketed our water bill. High efficiency my rear end. I was in contact with LG and they said its normal. Normal to have a high efficiency washer raise my water bill by 300%? NO thanks. NEVER buying an LG Washer ever again. Can I please have an old-fashioned, non-energy star washer that just works and cleans and has no computer parts in it?
Totaled my rug and ruined thousands $$$: I got my washer with them saying it was the best. Obviously my old one would have been better to have kept. This one fell off the rotational hinges and spilled an entire cycle of water into my house. All I have to say is don’t buy one if you like your sanity. Definitely not a quality brand. There is obviously problems here and they say there is not.
I bought this refrigerator three years ago when I bought my new house. However, this refrigerator has broke down about every 6 to 8 months. I had a warranty with Lowe’s for the first two years which covered it. Now that is expired. LG tells me I have a 10-year warranty and they’re going to fix it now it’s broke again. But I would never ever ever ever buy an LG again.
We purchased an above range LG Microwave in Jan. 2021 and ask Lowe’s to install it. They were prompt to install it. It worked 2 days and would not heat. We waited a month for a service call, finally paid to get the new microwave repaired. Now on 2/24/21 it does not heat again. We are facing another long wait and additional expense. Do not buy this product!!
We purchased a new dishwasher, refrigerator, stove and over the stove microwave oven in 2009 when we renovated our kitchen. We have since had the refrigerator repaired and replaced the dishwasher (with a Kenmore Elite) altogether because the door was leaking and ruined our hardwood floor. We fixed the microwave push button panel once and our stove has never functioned properly. The flames do not come out of the stove top in an even pattern. Now our push button panel on the microwave has quit working again (less than two months after it was replaced for malfunctioning before). These were all bought from Home Depot, brand new. I would not say anything bad about LG with a problem occurring in only one appliance in that period of time, but all four appliances having problems? I will never purchase LG again. I can assure you I will tell everyone I know not to purchase this brand of anything since four different appliances have proved faulty/non-functioning.
LG LSC26905TT not cooling. The LG rep, Abes Appliance Repair, says faulty compressor. The fridge is 4 years old, 7 years warranty. LG will not replace because we have lost the receipt. Abes wants $500 to fix it plus the cost of a new compressor. The fridge cost over $2000, stainless! We also bought a new stainless range, also faulty. The largest ring stays one all the time, fire risk. The microwave glass fell out of the door! I fixed it with a small screw. The dishwasher is okay because we never use it. All appliances were bought at the same time. I am very disappointed. This is junk.
Bought this $2600.00 LG refrigerator 1 1/2 years ago and of course it breaks 6 months after warranty expiration. Theres only one servicer in our area. They came to diagnose the problem right away the week before July 4th and company is coming. They ordered the parts from LG but after no contact with them for days we finally called them and they inform us that the parts (Compressor and board) are on back order for 4 weeks (JULY 21st). The back order date is four weeks out!! And we lost over $50.00 in food. Thank god it wasnt more!!We had to buy a Samsung floor model (Cheaper) to get us by and not lose more food. Every time I call to get an update because no one calls us back, I get a foreign speaking person I can hardly understand and placed on hold for 10-50 Minutes!!! I have been told that there are at least 9 people in our area (Valdosta Ga) with this exact same issue with their LG refrigerators!! This is not acceptable! There are a few in a worse circumstance than us, such as an elder couple that just had open heart surgery and no refrigerator now! A single mother with 5 children to feed. Now the only service company in our area doesnt seem to know where the board is and LG says it was delivered! The service center DDD in Albany/Adel says they use a different vender Marcone and it is on back order with them not LG?! WTH!
This LG manufacturer has to be the worst experience of customer service I have ever had in my life. I have been trying to contact customer service, the supervisor of LG and all they kept doing is lying to me and promised me a courtesy refrigerator bin and told me I would get a call from the supervisor. In 3 days they havent called. I called them back and told them what happened. They gave me confirmation numbers 3 times and kept me on hold for 40 minutes just to get through a supervisor, the customer service agent told me she will just email me a order # to my email. I checked my email and there is no email from LG. I called again and told me, We cannot send you the bin cause your warranty expired. There you go more lies from LG.Thats after they told me they had no problem sending me one courtesy bin to my home. Still nothing. They wasted my time on the phone and lying to me. Some of their product are cheap. They are plastic and break so easily and are very fragile. They treat their customers bad and they really dont care from the way their employees treat the consumers. From my experience do not buy from LG. They treat you horribly and they lie to their customers. They are people you wouldnt want to do service with and they need to improve their products. I am serious!!! Stay away from my horrible experience with LG!
LG Washing Machine Product WT1101CW: 1st-DO NOT BUY ANY LG!!! THEY ARE LEMONS!!! We purchased an LG Washing Machine and Dryer from Best Buy on 11/16/2012. I am writing this review on 9/28/16. I have had to have a repairman out twice and the long and short of it is the transmission & electric board went at the tune of $533.00 for parts and labor. Um I paid $629 for the machine new. I called LG several times. The 1st few times they said there was nothing they could do. Wrong answer! So I called a 3rd time & they offered me an extended warranty on parts and labor for 1 year for that repair for $385.00. So they would charge me more than half of what I paid for it??? No thanks. There is no telling what else will go wrong with it. Its a ripoff when you pay over $600 for a washing machine and it doesnt even LAST 4 YEARS. I read numerous complaints about LG like mine and worse. If we quit buying these lemons they will either have to make a better product or go out of business. Gotta go time to get on Consumer Reports and fork more $$ for a new one. Lets just hope it will last at least 5 years.
Purchased the complete LG black stainless kitchen set up for our newly constructed home. Appliances were purchased at Sears and delivered by them to our new home. Microwave was badly damaged off the truck so it was reordered (Sears fault). Dishwasher, Refrigerator, and Double oven were not damaged as we examined the boxes for exterior crushing or creases. The dishwasher leaked like a sieve the first time we used it!! My husband checked to make sure all hoses were attached properly and all fittings were tight. We could not use the dishwasher at all as it leaked so badly it was ruining our new flooring and leaking into our basement.I took a video as we pulled out the unit and ran it and it was obvious that the leak was coming from the back of the unit. LG repair came over and determined that it was damaged at delivery! I still had the box. No damage to the unit during delivery. LG refused after months and months and pic after pic sent to their US offices and their South Korean offices. This unit was dropped and creased across the back during manufacturing and they kept telling me that it was Sears fault. I could not, in good conscience, blame Sears as I had personally examined the box when it arrived at our home. After 10 mos. of arguing with LG, I went to the local Sears store where we had purchased not just the 4 LG appliances, but a beer fridge, for the basement and a freezer for the basement as well totaling more than $11,000 in one purchase. We had also purchased appliances from them in the past. The new store manager, upon hearing my story from the saleswoman from whom we purchased our appliance, made it right. I told him that I never relented on the story that it was not Sears fault but a manufacturers defect. He appreciated my honesty with LG and replaced the dishwasher.Moving on now to the microwave. After finally receiving the new microwave 3 months after the other appliances were delivered. It was only 5 mos. before the digital display started acting wacky. Then the microwave worked intermittently. Again, I called LG. They assured me that they do not have manufacturing defects as their quality control is above reproach. I said, Great sent me a repairman as it is under warranty. Scott, from LG, ordered a new door which contained all the inner workings of the unit but it was the wrong color. He reordered, came by and replaced it only to find it didnt work either as a week later it was acting like the door he just replaced. Finally Scott was able to get the right door and it works. That process took 2 months.Just before Thanksgiving, 2017, we noticed just under the handle of our new refrigerator, the paint was peeling off of the black stainless finish. It is not an area of the door that we touch regularly or even at all except to wipe down. After the holiday, I sucked it up and called LG once again. LG in South Korea told us the warranty was up on the refrigerator and there was nothing they could do. I told her to take a look at the history on our previous appliance issues and that it may be time for us to possibly file suit with the company as now its 3 out of 4 of their garbage products that have caused us no end of grief and that Sears has documentation and I have pictures and other paperwork accumulated over the year from hell since we made the purchase of their products. She put me on hold!Scott came into our lives once again and ordered a new door and installed as we decorated our Christmas tree! I thanked him and told him that our oven would probably go afoul soon and we may see him again. He answered questions I had about the knobs on the front of our LG stove that when bumped, turn on without you knowing and have emitted gas. My worry is that I will bump a knob and be on my way out rather than the 3 times it happened while we were home and smelled the gas fumes. Scott said there was some kind of kit we could get to prevent the problem. Why didnt LG tell us that at some point. I will order it as soon as I finish this post to assure the safety of our home and family. Please do not purchase appliances from LG! They are dishonest in their dealings and lied to us over and over and I have it documented. Some of their local repair affiliates are hand in hand with them and lie for them without doing their work. They walk in and determine it was someone elses fault and tell you to go after them. Sears in North Olmsted, OH made the situation with the dishwasher they sold us right. I cannot thank them enough. Sears has a contract with LG and other manufacturers that says that Sears repair may not touch LG products that are under warranty. They are not allowed to look at your appliance if it is under LGs warranty or the warranty becomes null and void. The consumer is at the mercy of the manufacturer as we were and the manufacturer, LG, is dishonest in their dealings.
Bought a LG Top Freezer. Very disappointed in it. Every time you open and close frig door, the freezer door seal is broken and air gets in. This causes my meats to get ice formed on them. Had service come out and told us that this is normal. I never had a top freezer before that opens when I close the frig door. They dont tell you this when buying it. Also found the same info about freezer door opening in their manual. So if they know about it, why not fix the problem. Also told new frig will probably only last 5-6 years. Thanks LG. Never again will I buy or recommend LG to family or friends.
We bought an LG refrigerator and the doors quit closing. Because we had a warranty they fixed that. Since we bought the refrigerator the ice maker will not spit out ice. We bought an OTR LG microwave which cost $650. It is not user-friendly because no matter how many times you push a button you have to push it JUST right for it to work. We bought a LG double oven. Within the warranty period the plastic glass broke on the control panel. We have been waiting for months on a new part. They finally sent the new part and it was the wrong one. I think we are done with LG products.
The power button on the washer will not turn on, you have to unplug it then plug it back in after 2 minutes, it will then run one cycle. Called the 1-888 number for Canada helpline to run a diagnostic test with the phone tones using the washer. I honestly believe this is a trick to get you to call and have them try to sell you more warranty. They were no help whatsoever, the information on YouTube is much better and in the end, I ordered the part and repaired it myself for 1/4 the cost. There should have not been any costs for a 2-year old washing machine used by a family of 4! Dont BUY LG WASHERS.
We purchased a counter-depth LG refrigerator (Model LFX25991ST) 4 years ago. The ice dispenser switch went bad. Then in June, 2017, the compressor failed and had to be replaced. In August, 2017, the evaporator fan failed and had to be replaced. We have lost all confidence in the refrigerator. There are many one-stars ratings for a reason.LG Warranty: When I called LG (good luck getting someone let alone someone you can understand), the customer service representative told me that parts are generally covered for 10 years, but labor is not. An authorized LG repairman can inspect the unit (usually for a fee) and order the parts from LG for free, but you pay for their labor to install the parts. If you dont use an authorized LG repairman, you will need to pay for both the parts and labor (but their labor charges are often a lot less, so the total cost may well be similar).
Within a few months of purchasing a top of the line LG French Door refrigerator, the unit began icing up. After multiple repair calls, and replacement of various parts, the situation only got worse. Ive purchased many top of the line brands over time - never have I experienced such a poorly made product. After five years of trying to get the LG fridge to work, we had to finally give up. If youre looking for a good fridge, start with KitchenAid or Whirlpool. Walk past LG and keep on walking. Weve talked to others and have heard similar complaints. The L in LG is for Lemon.
I have had my top loading machine for 4 months... 2 of those months my machine has been out of commission. The agitator plate comes off completely!!! The machine stops. After 3.5 weeks of trying to get a repair person out (since LG has the absolute hands down worst customer service on planet earth... And they are located in the Philippines and are difficult to work with). Finally the repair person comes out and glues, yes glues the agitator back in place. We wait 2 days for the glue to set. Then do 2 loads and the thing flies off again!!! Now the next repair person tells me they have to order a new transmission!! WTF??! I am marching into Sears today to demand a new machine. Buy anything at all, but do not purchase an LG product. Disgraceful company on all accounts!!!
I purchased a French door/double freezer drawer refrigerator in 2011 from Home Depot. I renovated my kitchen in white appliances and cabinets. The control panel/water dispenser, as well as the tops of the drawers and doors have turned a very noticeable yellow. They are made of plastic and no longer match the white of the refrigerator. My house is air conditioned with an automatic dehumidifier. Not that it should matter but I cannot think of any reason this should happen except the parts were made from an inferior plastic. Its made my new expensive refrigerator look old and has ruined my all white kitchen. The ice dispenser is always clogged and difficult to get ice from. My main problem is the look of my refrigerator in my kitchen. I called LG customer service and of course they said its not covered under warranty and there was nothing they would do.
DO NOT, DO NOT ever buy an LG washing machine as ours is two years old and I have to spin dry one towel at the time while the rest of the wet towels are in the sink waiting. LG executive, Tyree, told me they would send a service person which they never did, however. Lowes, where we bought the machine has given us an appointment with an LG technician. This machine was $650 and has never worked correctly and this is LGs second service in a year. When the warranty runs out in 3 years, I will get rid of this piece of junk and buy a cheap washer and hope to keep it like I did my last one that lasted 25 years. LG does not need to be in the business of washing machine and whoever designed them needs to be fired and they need to give all of us a replacement. Ill never buy anything by LG as our new $750 TV would stop working from time to time and my son in law took off the back and tightened all the leads and it works fine, now. Now, why would you sell a tv with loose leads? LG is a worthless company!!!
I purchased an LG refrigerator 2 years ago. I listened to the guy at Home Depot and took his recommendation. Two weeks ago my refrigerator stopped cooling. A few days later an LG certified repair guy showed up and right away said he had to order a part in order to complete the repair. One week after the refrigerator stopped working the LG repairman serviced the unit unsuccessfully and LG executive department was unwilling to give any sort of credit for the labor portion of the bill. 10 days after the refrigerator stopped working the same LG repairman came to service the fridge again. This time it started to get a little cooler, approx 52-degree, but never got lower than that. Yesterday, over two weeks into the refrigerator not working the repairman did a third service on the refrigerator. Today I woke up to a 70-degree temperature inside my refrigerator.I contacted LG in hopes they would give me some sort of helpful resolution to this issue. The first guy I spoke with said after 3 unsuccessful repairs I might be eligible for compensation toward a new refrigerator. After 1 hour on the phone he transferred me to the executive department and the guy on the other end said no to a replacement, but that hed schedule another service...NEXT WEEK. Three weeks without a working refrigerator, three unsuccessful service calls, hundreds of dollars spend on labor, hundreds of dollars spend on food that went bad, hundreds of dollars spent on meals out (that would have normally been lower cost meals made at home), and very rude executive department. Needless to say, I will NEVER purchase an LG product again. Not just because of the product, but because their customer service STINKS! They have zero accountability and once you hit the executive department they are trained to say NO and treat you like garbage. If you try and ask for someone more senior they tell you to write a letter to a PO box in Huntsville Alabama. In this day and age where groceries can be delivered in an hour, parts can be shipped overnight, there is no reason someone should go without a working essential item like a refrigerator.
I like the refrigerator, however, it stops working when it needs to be cleaned. The ice maker does not work and the door racks break easily. It is not children friendly.
BUYER BEWARE. LG is the worst appliance brand to ever purchase. Please avoid getting anything from them, as I have had the worst experience with their customer service and major appliance I purchased from them. I purchased my refrigerator from hhgregg (which is now out of business, my luck) about 4 years ago. Maybe within a month of this huge investment, we started to have issues with the ice machine. We have had service call numerous times over the ice machine, which is quite shocking all for a simple standard feature on a refrigerator. Thank God we were still under warranty for the ice maker replacements, and even still after the repairs, we continued to have issues with the ice machine. After hhgregg went out of business, so did our warranty servicing. Then, about a month ago, the compressor went out. Thinking that LG would stand by their products and offer servicing, that was not the case. From reading past postings, they are completely aware of the problems with the compressor failing on this model. They had a technician come out who confirmed that the compressor went out and to fix would be $$$$ (costly), and offer a 90-day warranty. The technician recommended that it wasn’t worth it and to go with a completely different brand! I was in complete shock! However, I truly appreciated his honesty, since it confirms that LG dont stand behind their products. Such a huge waste of money and disappointment. So, unless you have money to throw away, stay away from LG refrigerators. MODEL: LFX31925ST.
My LG bottom freezer refrigerator was 4 months old when it started to emit a chemical odor that permeated the foods and made them inedible. It smelled similar to the smell that it had when it was new that the manual said would disappear a few days after running it and it did go away. I called LG, and they sent a repairman, who opened the door, said he could smell nothing and that was it. Over 2 months, I called LG and I got the run-around until finally they said they will do nothing. I replaced the fresh air filter at 6 months to see if that would help, and it knocked the odor back for a few days, but then the odor just came back. Now, I have a brand new refrigerator sitting in my kitchen that is totally useless. Do not buy this refrigerator.
Ice maker dumps water that freezes in and on ice bin. Ice dump door does not close so air gets in freezer and forms ice in freezer. Switches from cube to crushed ice on its own. Drawer slides broken. 3 repairs and still not fixed. If this is what you get with LG I wont be back and I will tell everyone to stay away from LG.
I had an LG front load in the washer for six years and the bearing started to go out and needed to be replaced. I called LG and they sold me a warranty to fix the problem. A week later I was contacted by a local appliance store, who came out and looked at my machine. They said yes, it was a bearing problem, but they were not sure that LG would actually authorize the repair, even though I had called LG and specifically requested a bearing repair replacement and they had listened to the machine as it was operating and agreed that it was a bearing problem. The repair technician called them and they did agree to repair my machine. He ordered the parts and two weeks later showed up to do the repair. He worked on my machine for about three hours and finally got the job done. After he had reassembled my machine he said it would be a good idea to run a cycle to make sure it was all cleaned out after the repair. Without me doing anything, he started the machine, which sounded like it was working properly. He left and a few minutes later I left for an appointment. When I came back about 20 minutes later the door on the machine was knocked open the trashcan next to the machine was knocked over water was all over the floor, And the breaker to the machine had been tripped. I called the repair man and he came back within about an hour and looked at the machine. Now the tub, the plastic one that encircles the steel one, has a crack in it and was vibrating so violently inside the machine cabinet that it broke the heating element compartment and spewed water all over the entire inside of the machine in the electronics in there. I called LG to inquire what to do now and they basically say that they will not cover this repair because I should’ve not left the house with the washing machine running unattended. ** believable… I cannot believe that a company would say some such BS to a customer who contacted their repair department, purchased their recommended extended warranty, and used their certified repair technician. And keep in mind it was the technician who at the end of the repair said it would be a good idea to run an empty cycle to clean everything out of the washer. And he did not say you need to stay in the house with your washing machine. And I would imagine almost everybody has washed clothes and left the house with the washer running.I feel that LG has demonstrated incredibly poor customer service and corporate malfeasance with the way they are abusing people with their worthless warranty. I am considering legal action, and possibly a class action lawsuit to see how many other people they have treated in this way. If you have been treated this way, please call me and leave a message at **. Leave your contact information and tell me about your LG warranty nightmare experience. I will write it up and hopefully turn the materials over to a law firm.Nobody should be treated as poorly as I was… Basically they sent a technician into my home who completely destroy my washing machine in an attempt to repair my machine that obviously went wrong, and now LG is blaming me. Ridiculous. Outrageous. Nobody should be allowed to do business this way. I will also be contacting one of our local TV affiliates who does stories on problems like this and see if they want to pick this up. I am pissed and I imagine there are a lot of other people out there just like me.
Is this level of service LG intends to provide? We visited LG PEL and New Allied Gujranwala, Pakistan regarding our one LG washing machine (product model: wd80150) issue, but both were saying, “We are not providing LG after sale service.” I even sent 5 emails to LG customer service on August 17, 2011, and they did issue a complaint reference number **. I received what I felt was extremely poor service, and I felt I should write and inform you. They did issue a complaint reference number **; still, they are saying that they do not have LG parts and testing equipment. Im sure that this isnt the level of service you intend to provide. I would like to continue being a customer of LG, but I feel this type of after sale service makes it easy for your customers to simply never do business with you again. I look forward to hearing from you.
Think twice before you buy a LG refrigerator. The compressor on mine failed just past a year of use. LG repair people were less than helpful but they finally agreed to pay for new compressor but we were on the hook for labor because we had not purchased extended warranty. My granddaughter purchased a LG refrigerator just after ours. Her compressor failed just after a year. She did purchase the extended warranty but has now been waiting eight weeks for repair with no end in sight. Repair people do not want to do business with LG because it takes months and months for them to be paid/reimbursed by LG.
3 hrs + to finish a normal wash cycle. Soap dispenser not emptying properly. Not enough water in drum to clean clothes. Sometimes the clothes have dry spots on them. (No. The washer isnt crammed full.) Run Run Run away... I had a Maytag front loader when they first came out and I loved it... too bad I left it with the sale of the house.
Ive called. Ive waiting on hold. Ive sent in proof of purchase multiple times and I still cant get anyone to help me with the fact I havent had a working refrigerator since March. It wasnt even a year old and it stopped working. I came on here to see Im not the only one who is having these issues. Shame on LG for terrible customer service and not standing behind their product. Ive been told it was because of COVID at first that no one could come out, I was understanding. Now Im beyond upset. Buyer beware, the products look nice, however looking nice without function doesnt do me any good.
We purchased our LG front loading washer and dryer in 2018. Like many of the reviews I have read we too are very disappointed in our purchase. I noticed that the clothes came out smelling within a few months of buying and I called LG DIRECTLY as it was under their warranty but was told that I need to run the tub clean more often. Done that for over a year and also washed clothes twice - not efficient as waste of energy. We do have an extended warranty and recently a tech came out so I let him open the washer door as I had just done a tub clean the night before - it smelled like a rat was dead in the drum. He too agreed he had never experienced that before! He poured half a bottle of my Bleach and ran the cycles again for almost 2 hours. Said the problem was fixed and if I experienced the smell again I needed to call them back thru Assurant the company who warranties the extended warranty. Did so and they declined to send a different tech saying that there was no mechanical problem. My clothes come out smelling and the even the dryer time has to be increased to double for the clothes to dry correctly. NEVER BUY THIS WASHER OR DRYER EVER. EVEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL OT HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. I bought the pair from a very reputable store in the area but I believe that LG Is aware of the problems with the machines and do not want to take responsibility for the defects. I do hope this review deters anyone buying an LG front load direct drive washer and dryer.
Third year of LG front loader and something failed and punched a whole in the thin cheap plastic outer tub. Costs for repair is 3/4 the cost of a new washer due to it being so intensive. Front door has leaked since day one. I contacted LG about it and was pretty much told, you are on your own.
Purchase Lg Range at best buy in Oct. 2013 with two year warranty. Range broke, it’s over two weeks- still waiting to be repaired. Made an appointment with LG Customer care Monday. Technician came out Thursday, claimed the parts that was sent to my house by customer care were wrong, so he ordered the part using his cell phone and he gave us time and day that he will be back Saturday same week between 11:00 am to 1:00pm. We waited and he didnt call us. We called him back after 1pm. He didnt get the part. Made another appointment with him, we said Monday morning we’re at home. We go to tampa to work from Monday afternoon and be back Wednesday night, he said available to come Tuesday. We have to work so made arrangement for him to come on Thursday. He said okay, Thursday Jan. 22, between 12:00-1:30. We waited - no calls so we called him back after 1:00. He said “I thought it was done”, we asked “did you get the parts you needed?” He said “yes”, so why he said he thought it was done if he still has the part with him. He said that we did not call LG customer service to make an appointment for him to come, I said: “You gave me a time and date that you will come out Thursday between 12:00 and 1:30pm, why do I need to call LG to make an appointment if you made an arrangement to come?” So, I called LG customer care again and spoke with RJ and advise me that I dont have to call him back because he will be sure that he will call us (Bill the technician) to call us back. Waited again - no call from him so, I called LG back again and spoke with Kyle - couldnt help me, transfer me to Willie, the supervisor, and he said that the LG policy is for the customers to call back to make an appointment AGAIN, if the technician couldnt make it again, and to make another claim to have the stove fix. And then I was transferred to LG Premier Care, spoke with Carnecsha and I told her I will file complaint and Ill call Consumer Advocate to complain. She told me I couldnt do and I told her “why not, we’ve been pushed run around, as a consumer we have rights, this is our life, we bought the warranty as we were told by sales people.” And then she transferred me to Best Buy to the Geek squad who carries the warranty that we bought, and then transferred again to LG to make another arrangement for technician to come out.
I bought the washer and dryer three years ago. Six months after the purchase the hot water stopped going into the washer so I just washed with cold. I had two techs check out this machine. One couldnt figure out what was wrong and the second told me I need a whole control panel. That was to the tune of $400.00 plus service call. Now you are wondering why I didnt get this cared for during the first six months. Well I had brain surgery and even had to learn to walk again so that washer was not my priority at that time. Guess Ill continue with cold water. Never again!!!
Our refrigerator (model LFXC24726S) was bought at Best Buy Pacific Sales in 2/15. First there was a recall issue in the flat drawer and it kept freezing. It was fixed at no charge. Two weeks ago I went to get ice and all I got was water. My entire freezer was defrosted and the fridge part was getting increasingly warm. After calling the Geek Squad for repair and finding out that my extended warranty was applied to a Samsung fridge I had returned (did not fit properly in my kitchen) and never credited or transferred to the LG. So no warranty, even though it was not our fault. Now nearly 2 weeks later, I find out that the problem is a Freon leak and they cannot fix it. When the Geek Squad came to see about the reason for the failure of this very expensive fridge, he stated that he had 3 LGs have the same thing in the last few weeks. He noted that all the fridges were ALL approximately the same age (3 years or less). After going to corporate since I had gotten nowhere with anyone else at Best Buy, they are finally replacing it. Im hoping this wont happen again in the near future. Fridges are supposed to last more than 3 years.
We purchased the LG1443KDS at the end of 2011. The machine vibrated so badly it would travel the length of the utility floor and destroyed the large rubber drum seal. The repair technician advised the retailer to replace the machine, that was subsequently done. The replacement washing machine has displayed the same characteristics on a number of occasions other than destroying the drum seal. The noise from this appliance is on a par to pneumatic drill being used indoors, and could quite easily injure a small child or animal when the violent motions take place, lifting it clear of where it is situated. We also contacted LG directly regarding our concerns, but were merely brushed off. Absolutely no interest in their customers or appliance aftercare. This washing machine was extremely expensive, but is the worst appliance we have ever owned. This is the first ever LG appliance and is DEFINITELY our last. Purchase junk from this manufacturer at your peril.
I purchased an LG refrigerator on June 4, 2019. LG delivered the refrigerator a few weeks later and unfortunately, it was severely damaged when it arrived at my residence. The delivery company returned the damaged unit and delivered another refrigerator a week later. The 2nd refrigerators left door contained the water and ice dispenser of which neither worked. I spoke with LG customer service and they indicated that a local repair company would come out and assess the issue. National Platinum Services was the local company and it took them two weeks to show up and when they did, they were not able to diagnose the problem. There has been no follow up since they left so currently I am still waiting on how this situation is going to be resolved. Bottom line is that LG doesnt seem to value good customer service so in the future I will look elsewhere when shopping for any product that they may market to the public.
I remodeled my kitchen at the end of 2015 and bought brand new LG appliances: a fridge, a range and a dishwasher. The fridge broke twice since. The dishwasher broke once. The range has not broken yet BUT all the markings on the knobs came off and it is very hard to know at what temperature we are setting the burners. This has been for me an awful experience. I will never buy LG again.
We bought the LG LMXS30776S refrigerator in early 2017 and it was working okay (it did make louder than expected noises most of its short life) until December 15, 2019 when we woke up one morning to a trail of water on the floor and all of our food ruined. We paid for someone to come out to tell us that it was a dead compressor and to contact LG for a replacement part.An LG tech came out and replaced the compressor, and while the freezer worked, the fridge portion remained at room temperature. He came back the next day to fix it again, but the fridge did not get below 42 degrees. An LG contracted appliance repair company then came out and determined that new parts (fridge evaporator and another compressor) were required. They returned a week later and replaced the compressor again along with the fridge evaporator, but after they left nothing worked at all.The LG tech came out again and got fridge half-working again (still does not go below 42), but the freezer is still not functioning. LG tech now says we can get a new fridge due to multiple visits, but the LG customer service says their tech needs to say it is not repairable and why and the tech is not willing to make that call for us. We have now initiated the replacement request process three times (each time takes 3-5 days) the first two times weve waited a week only to find out they messed up the paperwork and had to start again. Weve been without a fully functioning fridge/freezer for over 6 weeks. Weve wasted hundreds of dollars on food that got spoiled. The LG refrigerator is an utter disappointment, as is their customer service.
Sounds like my experience mirrors everyone else on here. Had a $2,500 LG fridge, and 2 months after their warranty expired, the fridge and freezer both suddenly stopped working. Called the company and scheduled an authorized repairman to come take a look for $79. He was unable to locate the problem and basically said it was not repairable and that we were out of luck. He offered to try a few things that could possibly fix the problem, but each of those tries would cost a significant amount of money and there was no guarantee. In his words, each of these repair attempts would be like throwing a dart at a dartboard and hoping for a bullseye. Obviously we declined this dartboard method of repair, and now we have to buy a whole new refrigerator. Suffice to say it will not be an LG!! What a piece of absolute garbage. This company should be ashamed of itself.
LG Washer/Dryer unit. Noticed water on floor, thought it was the washer. Repairman identified water coming from dryer. He was not able to fix the problem. Might add, weve passed the one yr. warranty and didnt purchase an extended warranty thinking back over 50 yrs of never having to call a W/D repair person. After some personal research discovered the water drain was not connected to the proper reservoir. Never saw a drop of water in the prescribed reservoir which means it was never properly installed at the factory or whatever reason LG can figure who to blame. Theyve given me some repair phone #s. None service our area. Discovered that they have a very narrow presence for repair people. This is a BUYER BEWARE of LG. No service, poor and rude customer service and a phone number with a broken answering string. In the meantime, LG has a duty and a responsibility to mitigate all damages and the Consumer Affairs Division of the State of California needs to look into a company that sells their products without providing a reasonable method of getting repair service. Their star deserves a huge Zero. I bought both items at Home Depot and they could not give me a repair person for LG. Right now were stuck with having an expensive dryer that doesnt work. Carting a basket of wet laundry to dry outside is a huge inconvenience for an 80 yr. old.
I phoned 3 days ago to LG to get a technician to come look at my 7 month old washing machine which suddenly has started tripping the electricity in the whole house, while in the middle of a cycle. It is currently full of water and not useable. I was told yesterday that someone would come today. I waited until noon so I rang and they transferred me through to the technician who was the rudest man I have ever in my life spoken to. And he informed me that no one was coming today and that they were booked until the middle of next week.I stated that was not good service and he told me to phone LG. So I said you are a very rude man, can I talk to the manager, I wish to lodge a formal complaint, to which he put me on hold for 10 mins and then came back and said he does not want to talk to you, but we can come on Monday (5 days time as opposed to 7). This is the worst service ever! I took today off work with no pay to sit and wait for a service technician who was never coming and to be honest I am worried what sort of person I am allowing into my home considering how rude he spoke to me!
In life, you have large purchases that are life events: new home, car, and appliances. From day one back in 2008, from when we purchased our LG fridge (LFX2590TT), we have had nothing but problems.Water leaked and cracked the line on the back of the fridge (caused damage to wood floors). The deli drawer slide cracked and broke off. Water leak was repeated; the service repairman fixed the line and then the line cracked above the repair. The ice-maker freezes up and we had to turn it off to thaw. Water leaked again; the service repairman fixed the line and then the line cracked above the repair (third time). The replacement slide was broken (again). We do not over-load this drawer. Its all plastic crap and has a very poor design. The water line leaks inside the fridge. We gave up and turned off the water dispenser/ice-maker. Then the top of the vegetable/fruit drawers cracked.LG made it on my speed dial. After too numerous to count service calls and being long out of warranty, we have given up. When you buy a $2,400 refrigerator, you think it would work (completely) longer than 2 months. I will never purchase any LG products and I advise others to do the same. They make garbage and when it comes down to it, they just dont stand behind their products. In reading all of these reviews, you would think there would have been a recall, but theres none. Dont buy LG.
Purchase date is13-02-2011 and the guarantee was 1 year and the make is LG refrigerator with capacity of 255 umgs. The color is steel gray. Refrigeration is not proper. Thermostat has already been changed once. The part other than the freezer also has improper cooling leading to formation of ice in all the eatables.I tried to reach the customer care services and have already registered multiple complaints, and no response. Kindly look into the matter so that the problem gets rectified within the guarantee period.
I love my new refrigerator. I love how it has two doors for the refrigerator and it has a bottom drawer for the freezer with an extra drawer in the freezer. Plus I love the fact that it is stainless steel. The only thing I can think of changing would be for it to be a little taller but besides that its great. Plus it has an ice maker which I really love because I can do all kinds of stuff. We almost bought a Samsung but heard that there were problems and it was hard to get serviced so we decided on the LG because we have not had any problems with it.
Easy to use, looks and works great. Very easy to keep clean and has delay and lighting features. What else can I say except I love my LG microwave. Hope this works for you as there is just so many words you can use to describe a microwave.
I have raised a complaint on my recently bought LG washing machine direct drive on 24th December. LG service had come on 26th and said the panel has to be replaced and they have to get the panel from Cochin. Next day I called them due to lack of response and they said it has to arrive from Noida. Today we called and they said that part is no longer available. I trusted LG and purchased this product. Now I regret it. I suggest if LG has no commitment at making quality products then give me a temporary washing machine until the repair is over. I had a useless customer care experience. Only fake promises and nothing else. I have had same experiences with LG Refrigerator and Microwave oven which too have repair issues. I quit LG.
Purchased a LG top loading washer from Best Buy. Buying experience was positive with quick delivery and setup. After one year, washer has started leaking or rather pouring water out of the bottom of the washer. Additionally, the clothes do not get clean. I purchased the washer to handle larger loads like comforters, but it cant even clean a load of towels. I do not like that the washer decides how much water is needed to clean the clothes.
After only a year and two months after purchase, our LG dishwasher (LDS4821ST) is obviously having a drain pump issue, and thankfully we purchased the service plan at Home Depot. This washer sucks. It has become noisy, the panel freaks out and sometimes you cannot choose certain wash cycles, and now this drain pump issue. Its a huge piece of **. Follow my advice, since I know people with more expensive washers - get something like a Bosch or, if you really have the cash, a Miele. If you purchase an LG, you will regret it. Oh, and we also have an LG refrigerator, which also sucks. Although there are no real problems yet, it cools unevenly, and even when the unit is set at 36, some zones read 42-44 degrees (I have a digital chefs thermometer), which is in the danger zone for food (40/140 rule).
I highly recommend NOT purchasing any LG products. Customer service is pretty much nonexistent. From the day I received my EXPENSIVE, brand NEW washing machine. There were issues. LG will only keep sending service people and replacing parts in hopes that the product will work as expected. Any REPUTABLE company would have replaced the unit immediately. CONSUMER BEWARE.
My refrigerator went out 7 weeks ago. I called LG. They gave me a number to call to do the repairs. The compressor was out and LG covered it but we had to pay $500 in labor. LG sent the wrong compressor not realizing till the wrong one was installed. Called them. They sent a second wrong compressor. Call them. Was told it was dcd and is unfixable. I said my fridge is only 6 years old. They said I had to have my bill of sale. I can not find it. They told me they would figure out some other way to help and would call me in 3-5 business days. They did not call me so I called them. It was like starting all over again telling me to call the same people to come and look at it to service. After explaining several times he was short with me and rude and told me they will not help me without the receipt. What do they think? I walked out of Lowes carrying a refrigerator and stole it. I will never buy a LG product again.
Had this product for under 5 years. Most appliances I expect to last 8 to 10 years. Anyways, first very minor complaint - all the letters for buttons completely wore off. I wasnt touching them really...they just wore off so now its hard to tell what buttons are what...there is nothing next to them. Im a mom of 3 super-active kids and laundry is done all the time in my house. One day I started to smell a burning smell. It worried me so I contacted a repairman. He said he has problems with dryers not WASHERS. So he tried to recreate it by running several loads...felt stupid - He never smelt it again, but gave me his card and said call if it happens again. So it did a day later. he came back out. Opened up the top and saw nothing near the mechanical piece at the end of the washer. Smelled nothing after several loads. He said, Well make your loads smaller and of the same weight, That way there is nothing off balance. He assured me that if there was a problem the circuit would break if it got too hot. Well I threw a load in and went upstairs talking to my son. I came down and there were smoke fumes everywhere spurting out from the drum of the washing machine. Had I not come down and stopped it -- my house would have burnt down. I unplugged the machine quickly, opened all doors on a frigid winter day, and brought a fan to get fumes out of our house. Every person even the repair man and the guy at Lowes when I was looking at new washers said he had NEVER heard of a washing machine catch on fire. But from what I have read online its a common occurrence for the drums of washing machines on HE washers to get out of balance and cause fires because they spin so fast...WHY ARE THEY NOT FIXING THIS PROBLEM!!! We could have been killed by this.
Save yourself a lot of time and money, dont buy LG! A very poor product and their customer service is a joke! They do not stand behind their products at all. Our LG Front Load Washer did not make it two years before we had problems. LG said they would be happy to help if we gave them $400. Agree with all the other comments made by consumers. The 1.5 star is generous!
Soon after we bought this model on 7/28/09, we had to replace the circuit board as a result of what the repairman said was a design flaw, whereby using the self-cleaning mode will burn the circuit boards out if you use them more than once a year. Now, our oven will not heat. The oven indicator says both elements are on, but they are only warm to the touch. I cant get a repair manual or an answer from LG as to how to fix it or if there is a recall on the product itself. Are we stuck with this bogus product?
We purchased an LG Bottom Freezer Fridge in 2011, cost over $2000. To date we have had 3 service calls for faulty boards to a drilling sound loud enough to drown out my TV in the next room. I paid $200 for an extended warranty to repair the first time the drilling sound started. Warranty valid for 90 day only. 1 year to the day, the drilling sound started again. I called LG customer service. The first person Eddie hung up less than 5 minutes into the call. Called back to a person by the name of Luigie. I explained the issue to him, he had 2 ways to resolve the problem, 1: spend another $200 for a service call or 2: unplug my fully stocked refrigerator for a few days, when asked if LG was going to replace the spoilage, he said that LG does not assume that liability however, he did tell me that the issue is known by LG. Never again will I buy an LG product!
I bought an LG refrigerator from Sears in May 2015. In June 2019, my freezer stopped making ice. Long story short: an LG technician diagnosed the problem as a compressor/sealed system failure. LG agreed to a courtesy repair but after three visits the LG technician submitted a report to the company declaring the unit unrepairable. Since then, the company has delayed and deflected and made follow up and follow through extremely difficult. I cannot reach a service manager on the phone. I am not sure whether I will be compensated for my losses. I know there is a class-action lawsuit against LG on this very issue. I may well end up joining it. There is no reason why a four-year-old perfectly maintained refrigerator should fail after four years. It should be covered under the manufacturers warranty.
I hate this fridge!!! It has been a joke and has not worked from day one. They (customer service) will not help us. I will NEVER buy another LG product.
Our 4 year old LG front load washing machine started making a lot of noise during the spin cycle. We contacted LG who referred us to call an Authorized LG repairman. Well after a $100.00 service call that lasted about 30 minutes, we were told that the drum bearings were bad and not covered under the warranty and the machine would probably not be worth repairing.I will never buy another LG appliance again. It’s no wonder why LG has such a low rate of repairs on Consumer Reports magazine because their machines are not worth repairing!
The worst purchase ever! We bought it on sale for $2500. The ice maker... the worst ever! We had problems with refrigerator within 3 months! Every major part replaced, including motor and compressor within 14 months. Here we are, 26 months later, and its dead again! We lost over $1,000 worth of food! There should be a lemon law on all products. This product is a LEMON!
Worst washer ever. I bought this machine and within 3 years I had to replace the main control board twice. I didnt even bother to call LG due to all the reviews and complaints on the web. Just this weekend went out and bought a Maytag washer. Hopefully this will be a lot better than the LG. Never buying a LG product ever again.
I purchased LG Waveforce Top Loading Washer WT5001cw and Gas Dryer Set on 7/9/11 from Best Buy. I had a little issue of leaking that out of nowhere was resolved. On 10/31/2102, I went to the washer to get my whites out. I couldnt open the washer because it was locked. I pressed the power button & it would not turn on. I pulled out the manual to troubleshoot the issue. There was nothing in the manual to address this issue. I then called LG. I talked to a rep out of a call center in the country of Panama. The person told me to unplug unit for 30 seconds to reset. I did this. That did not work. The person then told me to check the circuit breaker to see if the outlet tripped. I checked the circuit breaker & everything checked out normal. That did not fix issue. They told me to plug it into a different outlet. I did this. That did not fix issue. I told rep that I smelled a burning smell coming from unit. The rep told me to unplug unit. I immediately unplugged unit. Rep stated that since the unit was a bit over warranty, I would have to send my original receipt to them to be approved for an extended warranty. I faxed LG the documents they requested. As we waited days to see if this warranty was going to be approved, on Sunday, 11/4/12, my husband went down to basement to see if washer would turn on. He plugged it back in & smelt a burning smell & saw smoke coming from the back of unit. He took off a small white cover in the back to see what was happening. We found out that the main power source in the washer had caught on fire and this wasnt the first time since 10/31/12. We immediately called LG to report this & they seemed uninterested in helping us. This call center was in Asia. We also took many pictures. This rep told us we needed to contact LG on Monday to find out what to do next. On Monday, we called & talked to a rep in the USA by the name of Adrianne **, a supposed supervisor for LG. She wasnt helpful whatsoever and she was extremely rude. She made us re-fax and email another copy of original sales receipt to call us a few hours later to tell us that we were not approved for the extended warranty. She said her superiors told her that because we took off the back panel, we voided the warranty or any option for an extended. We were like Are you ** kidding us? This was an emergency situation of an LG appliance on fire in our home and it caught on fire previously days before this. Then this stupid rep told us to go to Best Buy to see if they could do anything for us, which we did that same night, which was tonight. The Best Buy manager pretty much laughed (not at us) as they were shocked LG told us to go back to them. Now, we are in a situation of being without a washer. We are trying to figure out what to do next. This appliance cannot be repaired. Even if it could, we dont want a fire hazard in our home or have to worry about it re-catching on fire in future.
I purchased a LG Dishwasher to replace an older GE model that was inoperable. Im very satisfied with my choice of the new LG Dishwasher. It is excellent in cleaning dishes as well as pots and pans. It is also quiet during operation... A big plus in my opinion. I gave it 4 stars, lacking the 5th in reference of the higher cost than average dishwashers.
The LG website doesnt work and you are unable to register a complaint there. To pre-treat a large cat urine stain on my daughters duvet and cover I poured apple cider vinegar on the spot. Then I put the washing machine on the bulky/bedding cycle, added some more apple cider vinegar, HE detergent and an hour later I put it in the dryer on bulky/bedding setting and chose very dry....twice! Thats an hour for the washer and 2 hours and 10 mins for the dryer. Not only is the duvet and cover still damp but the stain is still there. So tomorrow I am off to the Laundromat where I should have gone in the first place. There is no point in having a bulky/bedding cycle if the machine is unable to handle the load. I will never buy one of these top loaders again. The clothes are NEVER clean and I always have to choose a longer drying time. I feel that LG has misrepresented their product as energy saving!
Have had an LG French Door refrigerator for close to 5 years and it is already breaking down. Have taken great care of it, replacing all filters when needed, keeping it cleaned, just went in back of it and cleaned out any particles or dog hair and yet it just wont stay cold. In addition, it mysteriously stops making ice many times. Despite everything seemingly working. All of these issues have started 1 month after a maintenance guy from LG came by to service it. Making it seem all the more of a bad buy. Look at a different brand!
Our upside down fridge has been tremendous with inky 2 exceptions. The door trays are too flimsy, even though I do not load them with too heavy items. The freezer baskets allow things to fall through or get caught. The baskets need to be of a solid material and not open weave.
Bought the fridge new October 2012. First problem September 2013 main board and freezer fan replaced. June 11, 2015 fridge died again. Main board again. Not getting replaced till June 15. Got nowhere with LG people because I have a three-year warranty even though same thing has happened twice within three years. I DO NOT EVER recommend LG.
After we remodeled our kitchen back in 2010, we purchased brand new LG appliances. Within the first year, a couple of the knobs on the stove (LRG30357ST) became cracked and loose. As of today, 2012, all 5 knobs are either loose, fallen off, all completely cracked. It is absolutely disgraceful that the cost to replace the knobs is almost close to the cost of just replacing the stove. Weve been putting off replacing them because of this cost. We will never purchase another LG product ever nor will I recommend it. What a disgrace!
LG gave an approval authorization for an LG tech to come out since the issues related to the recent software update and I did not purchase an extended warranty. Robert the tech was punctural and very receptive to my issues. He was able to punch out my dented front exterior and the rotor and stator was replaced with brand new ones. So far I have done 4 loads of wash and the machine performs as new! Lesson learned- always request an LG Tech when your seeking service. I dont think Sears, Home Depot , Lowes or HH Gregg should be blamed for any mechanical issues. The only thing these distributors are guilty of is having the latest and greatest appliances for sale. My next washer purchase will not be an HE though. I will buy a standard Speed Queen if they are still available when that time comes- for I have read down the road, the government may mandate HE only for residential consumers. Lets hope not!
I bought my LG Washer and Dryer back in 2007 and they are still going strong. They are big enough to fit our king size comforters so no trips to the dry cleaners or laundromats. I still love them.
I have been without a refrigerator for 2 months. We live in the KC metro area and there are only 3 repair companies certified by LG. It took them weeks to come out as they were booked and then we had to order 2 parts of which both have been back ordered. Maybe I am spoiled but 2 months without a refrigerator is a long time. I called customer care and indicated I think they have a supply vs demand issue. Obviously they have a bad product if you cannot keep the parts in stock to repair. I also have a dishwasher, washer and dryer by LG. The dishwasher is awful and so far the washer/dryer have been fine. I need to find a new brand before we update our kitchen! Based upon repair time alone they are not worth it!
Great price for all the features I was looking for. Met all needs I was looking for. I was looking for black stainless steel and LG had the best look. I like the black stainless steel, the display and how I can change the shelves inside, the pull out freezer and side by side doors. Ive always liked the look of the aide by side doors. However, Id like more space in pullout freezer, not freeze things in the fridge as easily. If the freezer was bigger I wouldnt need a separate freezer. I wish it were also easier to change the temperature of the fridge and freezer. Overall I would definitely buy again.
Purchased a brand new 4 door refrigerator model LMXS30776S and in less than 6 months the water dispenser is already damaged/scratched. I complained to LG and of course they chalk it up to normal wear and tear not covered under warranty. I was sadly mistake into thinking I was paying for a quality product but instead I ended up with cheap material and bad customer service. I should have done my research because I found out after the fact, LG has major issues with their refrigerator line and possible legal action was taken against them for it. Buyer beware.
Purchased LG Smooth Top Model LRE30463T January 2010. Since purchase clicking sound when baking and using smooth top at same time. Had service repair done under warranty and reset oven control temp. This continued and in December the large top burner stopped completely. Contacted LG and was told it was not covered under their 5 year warranty unless it was a burned out element but even at that we were responsible for service call and labor. Contacted a service rep and was checked and told it was the main board. LG website was down so he contacted us today to inform us that total cost would be almost $500.00. We paid over $1000 for this stove in 2010. 3 years of problems and nothing we can do but junk it, buy a new stove or continue to use with 3 burners. LG is junk. Value is worthless. Never again. Will go back to Whirlpool.
I purchased an Lg Washer and dryer a little over a year ago. Within the first year I had to have the washer repaired a total of four times with three of those repairs being done for the same issue. When I bought the washer at Pacific Sales in San Dimas Ca, I purchased an extended warranty. Just recently, the washer began to leak water again. I contacted the warranty department and notified them of the problem. They sent a technician out and he deemed the washer unrepairable since it had been repaired for the same thing several times. I then contacted LG and told them that they needed to replace my washer or give me my money back. This washer is a lemon. They told me that I was out of warranty and that I had to deal with my extended warranty company. I told them that I already had and that since the problem was a pre-existing one, they would have to replace it.So after two months, I still dont have a washer that works and not only that, I have a wash room that has been damaged due to the leaks from the washer. My wood floor has begun to warp. I have done everything that LG has asked me to do and provided and they continue to give me the run around and blaming everyone but themselves.
After more than 6 non-productive service calls to my pristine LG washer, which was shutting down as a result or a false error code, I sent the following to the head of LG in the US and copied the conglomerates CEO. Nearly two months later, we have not had the courtesy of a reply from this unresponsive, arrogant, incompetent and corrupt company.I am writing directly to you in order to allow LG Electronics the opportunity to rectify a situation involving a washing machine, which has been deemed unrepairable by both an LG-certified repair service company and by your customer service organization, which refuses to offer equitable assistance in resolving the problem. Please note the washing machine is in good condition, not significantly worn, functions very well half of the time, and then shuts down showing a false error message. In brief, the machine in question produces an error code and stops mid-cycle. After more than six service calls, replacement of several parts including the same parts multiple times, and numerous calls to the LG help desk, your authorized service technician declared the machine unrepairable and looked to LG for further guidance or, in the absence of guidance, an offer from LG to replace the machine since it is not repairable and well within what should be its useful life span. LG has refused because the machine, purchased in 2005, is out of warranty.Mr. Cho, understand we are not seeking a free repair. We fully expect to pay for a repair on a machine that while out of warranty is still well within its useful life cycle. However LG has failed to produce an appliance which, when inexplicably logically shuts down, can be repaired by LG authorized service. As a result, we are forced to replace the appliance very prematurely. If you will not replace the appliance, then we request that you provide instruction on how a technician may bypass the board that is producing the erroneous fault code that is shutting down the machine mid-cycle. These good faith solutions are only reasonable. In addition, and as a consequence of LGs failure to produce a machine which can be repaired, we have incurred expenses for sending laundry out to be done. While at this time we are not seeking reimbursement from you for these costs, which are now well over $1,000, we will not hesitate to include them in any legal action which we are forced to take against LG should LG refuse to act in good faith and choose to ignore our reasonable request. Such action may include, but not be limited to, commencement of a consumer fraud action against LG under M.GL 93 A, which provides for treble damages and attorneys fees.Interestingly, from a non-exhaustive online search, we have learned that LG routinely refuses assistance to consumers with out-of-warranty machines, which are still within their useful life but cannot be repaired, because LG maintains the appliances are not intended to last. We therefore believe it would not be a difficult task to win class action status for any action taken against LG for intentional defects in its laundry appliances. In addition we will not hesitate to refer this case to the attorney general of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.Mr. Cho, you should know that I was an early and loud proponent of your products and installed them in the laundry rooms of three estates and on my yacht as well. I did this despite the warnings of others that LG was merely the new incarnation of a Korean brand known for shoddy products, Goldstar and Lucky Goldstar. Now, it appears, your detractors were right and LG is interested only in volume sales and not in customer satisfaction or customer loyalty.Mr. Cho, I do hope we can resolve this problem amicably and without legal action or publicity. However, please do not underestimate my resolve. As the founder and former CEO of a multibillion-dollar company, I well understand the difference between good faith effort and fraud. I am hopeful this situation is the former and not the latter. I am a consumer of means and I will not hesitate to pursue my claims against LG. I look forward to hearing back from you.
For the front loading washer needs to find a way to drain better so that it doesn’t smell and leave a bad aroma not only in the washer on the clothes which then makes the dryer smell but also the laundry room and area.
I purchased the above appliance from Sears about 4-5 years ago (need to find the receipt to be accurate) and it has been a nightmare. I have used many boxes of the cleaning product made by Tide to deodorize and contacted a serviceman (at my additional expense) who instructed me to use bleach (only to discover the bleach dispenser is not dependable), remove the entire dispensing tray after each day of laundry, dry the door seal and inside of machine, and leave the door ajar when not in use...... I continue to have a problem with a sickening smell emanating from my clean laundry. I am quite convinced that this washing machine does not clean my laundry...... Whites are grey to beige! Very often, I find wads of soap in towels which I believe is due to an inadequate amount of water. An answer to this aggravating and unhealthy problem would be wonderful. Thank you.
LG Refrigerator Model#LFX31925ST - Purchased July 2012. First year, this refrigerator was nothing but a joy, no problems. Second year expected to have to change filters, but not the hell I have gone through. A week before my 60th Birthday, heard noise but couldnt locate where it was coming from, moved refrigerator found nothing going on. Day of Birthday Dinner panel goes in rf and ff mode, so Knowing I purchased the extra Service agreement, I called to see if someone could come repair this problem. 24 hrs later part shows up and 7 days later repairman shows up.
