LG Dishwasher Troubleshooting

If you're looking for help fixing your LG Dishwasher, look no further! Our comprehensive LG Dishwasher Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.

The Dishwasher Does Not Operate
Step 1
Check that the door is completely closed and latched, and that a cycle has been selected. If the door is not closed, or a cycle hasn't been selected, the machine will not operate.
Step 2
Check that the power supply is connected and switched on. Check that no fuses have blown--replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker if needed.
Step 3
Check that the water faucet is connected and functioning. The machine will not operate if no water is being supplied.

A Cycle Takes a Long Time to Complete
Step 1
Check that hot water is being supplied by running a hot water tap and testing the temperature. If cold water is being supplied, the need to heat the water makes the machine take longer to cycle.
Step 2
See that the dishwasher is connected to the hot water line, not the cold water line. Swap if needed.
Step 3
Your dishwasher will have been supplied with a PVC hose to link the water inlets at the back of the appliance to miniature valves connected to the household plumbing. Make sure the valve is turned off. The valve lever should be at right angles to the pipe.
Step 4
Disconnect the hose by unscrewing it. This should be possible by hand, but if needed, carefully use a wrench to loosen it.
Step 5
Check that the threads of the attachment are not worn or damaged, and replace with new hose if needed. Attach to the hot water supply, firmly tighten by hand and turn the water valve on.

Bits of Food Remain on the Dishes
Step 1
Check that you have selected the right cycle based on dish types and degree of washing, and used the right amount of detergent.
Step 2
Check that the water temperature is high enough. Ensure that the hot water faucet is connected, not the cold one. See Section 2 for directions on how to change over if needed.
Step 3
Turn on a hot water tap and see whether the pressure or flow of water seems reduced. Low inlet water pressure could cause this; the water pressure of the supply to the dishwasher should be between 20 and 120 psi. Normal residential water systems are designed to function at a pressure of pressure of 40 to 70 psi. A water pressure gauge can be used to test water pressure if it seems low. Options should be discussed with a plumber if your water pressure is low.
Step 4
Check to see that the water jet holes of the spray arms aren't blocked. Clean the arms to unblock the holes if needed.
Step 5
Check how the machine is being loaded. Improper dish loading can reduce cleaning effectiveness. Dishes shouldn't interrupt the arm rotation and detergent dispensing.

Spots and Filming on Dishes
Step 1
Check that the rinse aid dispenser is not empty. Fill if needed To add rinse aid, rotate the round cap on the dispenser tray counterclockwise and remove it. The tray is next to the detergent dispenser on the inside of the door. Add a liquid rinse aid to the maximum level. Replace and lock the cap. Check that the correct amount of detergent is being used.
Step 2
Check that the dishwasher is being loaded as per the user instructions. The dishwasher should not be overloaded--improper loading and overloading affects the water and detergent circulation.
Step 3
Low water temperature can be the problem. The supplied water temperature should be 120 degrees Fahrenheit for the best washing performance. Run a hot water faucet to check that the hot water supply is functioning.
Step 4
Low inlet water pressure could be the problem. The water pressure of the supply to the dishwasher should be between 20 and 120 psi. Normal residential water systems are designed to function at a pressure of pressure of 40 to 70 psi. Turn on a hot water tap and see if the pressure or flow of water seems reduced. A water pressure gauge can be used to test water pressure if it seems low. Options should be discussed with a plumber if your water pressure is low.
Step 5
Extremely hard water can cause filming on dishes in a dishwasher and cause damage to the machine. Install a home water softener if you are in a hard water area.

Noises
Step 1
A clunk as the detergent cover opens and drainage sounds are normal. If the noises relate to either of these, then there is nothing wrong.
Step 2
Consistent noises can be caused by the machine not being fully horizontal. Check that the machine is level by using a spirit level. Adjust the feet and/or reposition the machine until it is level.
Step 3
Badly positioned dishes can cause a nozzle arm to knock against the dishes. Check that the washer is correctly loaded.

Cloudiness on Glassware
Step 1
A combination of excessive detergent and soft water can cause this. Use a little less detergent.
Step 2
Under-load the dishwasher to allow more effective rinsing.
Step 3
Use a rinse aid. To add rinse aid, rotate the round cap on the dispenser tray counterclockwise and remove it. The tray is next to the detergent dispenser on the inside of the door. Add a liquid rinse aid to the maximum level. Replace and lock the cap.

Cleans very nicely but is just starting to get noisy. Love the ease of use and the rinsing it spot free. Perfect for a family of 4 but I can see its going to be too large when kids go to college soon. Modern looking, looks up to date. Wish I had gone with the stainless steel finish but that was much more money. I love the dishwasher but sometimes its too large like when the kids go away for weekend with friends.

Received my brand new dishwasher on 1/8/2018. By Thanksgiving, I was getting nE error messages. I called the number on the owners manual which was basically LG customer support and they found an appliance repair co that handles their warranty work. After 6 different service calls and taking off work 6 different times, dishwasher is still not working. No dishwasher since 11/26/2018 and it is now 1/9/2019! Cannot get LG to resolve my issue by replacing dishwasher since their repairman is unable to fix it. I will NEVER buy anything from LG again.

This expensive dishwasher didnt work right from the start! It doesnt clean the dishes. It doesnt DRY the dishes. The soap dispenser is small, doesnt dispense the soap all the way, wont use the soap cubes, dispenser doesnt even open in the cycle most of the time! We have to dry the dishes by hand every time! We kept the rinse aid full at all times and the dishes and glasses came out covered with spots every time. After 1 year and 2 months hubby smelled something like wires burning. Sure enough, next morning the motor was shot!! No use trying to get in touch with anyone who will do something about it because NO ONE will do ANYTHING. Dont buy this dishwasher, its JUNK!

To anyone seeking advice on an LG dishwasher, take heed to all of the complaints listed. I have experienced most of the complaints listed from the machine not rinsing, not drying, not cleaning. The worst appliance I have ever had in 40 years. I have not tried other LG products and Im not compelled to do so. However, Do not!!!!! Do not purchase this product line in a Dishwasher because you will be disappointed to no end. Im not going to fight it. Its not worth my time but I will never deal with this company again. I may have lost 350 dollars over the last 3 years but they lost my business and not just mine because Im spreading the word.

I just purchased a LG dishwasher LDP6797BB from Home Depot on 10/9/17, it was delivered on 10/17. We installed it ourselves (no issues there). Once we had the dishwasher all installed and confirmed no leaks, I went to run the dishwasher through a full cycle (as recommended). I powered on the machine only to get this code L2, I pulled the book out to find out this code means, luckily (according to the book) this is not an error it is a Rinse Agent code... However, the book does not tell you how to clear this code. So I called LG customer service, I was told I had to reset the machine at the circuit breaker. OK so I do that, machine is reset, machine works (thank God). When the cycle completes, I load the dishwasher with dishes and power on the machine... L2 AGAIN, reset AGAIN, did not work, reset breaker again. I have done this 1 MILLION TIMES in a week (and yes there is rinse agent in the machine). I have called LG, they are no help. They have no techs on staff that you can speak to, I know this is an easy fix, but they insist on sending a tech to my home. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY LG AGAIN... Fingers crossed that they can fix this once and for all.

Does a decent job washing dishes but unit is very noisy. Supposed to be at 48 decibels but this unit is much louder than that. Front touch pad is extremely sensitive. Just brushing against it starts the washer. Upper rack also is rusting after only 10 months usage. Dealer through which it was purchased has gone out of business so I am waiting for LG to get back to me as to if they are going to repair. Says right in the manual that racks have a 5 year warranty. Dont know what all the delay is about. The reason I purchased unit was because of the excellent refrigerator we purchased. Will think twice in the future.

We purchased and LG refrigerator and dishwasher about 2 years ago. Have had nothing but problems with the refrigerator, but it is working for now. The dishwasher will not clean the dishes. Because it is out of warranty, I called to get a service appointment set up only to be told that the price which I had been quoted by two of their representatives had gone up over $100 when I finally got to the department which could schedule the service. $100 in less than three minutes? I was told that it was due to sales tax. Total nonsense as nobody charges over 60% tax and we dont even pay tax on service calls in this state! After calling back, I managed to get the price back down to what was promised and secured an appointment for the next afternoon. The next morning I received an overnight-mail package. It was the pump for my dishwasher which had arrived before the technician could even look at the machine. Obviously LG has had this problem many times before if they know the problem before they can even look at the appliance! Why was there no recall of the defective part if the problem is that common? This company is to be avoided at all costs. They will lie to you and will do absolutely anything to avoid accepting responsibility for their worthless products! If there were a negative number of stars with which I could rate them, I would.

I bought this LG dishwasher 1 year ago and this is the WORST, WORST machine ever I have and so has my husband called the company. We were told to change soaps to Cascade liquid. We have tried pods, powders and other brands. My dishes still come out dirty, Glasses with grime and I use Jetdry also. WE have changed the dial to the highest number, tried everything we were asked to do. Why would someone spend the money on a dishwasher to have to WASH the dishes BEFORE you put them in the dishwasher? There is always soap residue in the machine after each use. I was willing to agree on LG sending out a repair specialist of LG to look and/or repair but now I just want it removed from my home. I will NEVER EVER buy a LG appliance again. I will stand by the other brand.

We bought a LG Stainless Steel DW in 99 for our remodel. I caught on fire. I called the company and was told they were aware of the problem and would give me a 1K credit for an upgrade to the 1.6K model. I did not want to pay that much for another LG. I returned it to a local business and got a partial refund towards a KA which is still working. 6 years ago we bought a new home with a complete LG kitchen. The stainless steel dishwasher caught on fire within a month. Didnt call LG this time. Just replaced it with a Bosch. I will never buy another LG appliance and do not recommend them.

Purchased (4) LG appliances from Lowes. The dishwasher, model LDF7774BD has poorly designed racks... glasses and dishes fall over or roll around when you open and close the unit when adding additional dishes until it is full enough to run. The rack design is the big negative, will not hold as many dishes as our old one. We really did read the owners manual and watched the online videos which are not much help. Called LG customer NO Service and imagine they said they have never heard this complaint before... ha! DONT BUY LG DISHWASHERS EVER!! We will be returning the dishwasher to Lowes.

We purchased our set (LG Tromm DLG8388NM Washer and Dryer) in 2006 and for the first two years, everything seemed to work well. But now, the washer leaks, the drum is corroded with black disgusting gunk that is difficult to get to let alone clean. The clothes stink even after washing them twice, with bleach and fabric softener. The dryer spins but there aren’t any heat. We spent over $2,500 on the set from Home Depot and have been disappointed to say the least. We also had a bad experience with an LG dishwasher and refrigerator. Both had to be replaced a year after purchase. We spent a total of $6,500 on LG products and they have not lived up to their Lifes Good name. My suggestion is not to roll the dice with any of their products because you will be angry and frustrated.

I just had to replace a four year old LG dishwasher. This was the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. The rack system was poorly designed and engineered. The wheels were brittle and broke easily and very costly to replace. The control panel had to be replaced twice and although part of the warranty, it still was costly to replace. The motor was very noisy and recently stopped working altogether. I just purchased a Bosch dishwasher as a replacement and am sure it will be much better than the LG. This is the last LG product I will purchase. Poor engineering and poor customer support.

I just purchased your $800.00 LG Inverter Direct Drive Dishwasher, Model # LDF6920ST. It does not clean the dishes at all. Im very, very unhappy with your product. The inside stainless steel looks like 7 years old. I have not cleaned my dishes before putting them in a dishwasher since 1992. I cannot believe the electricity/water it uses and how your product - even after rinsing - cannot clean. I feel I need to put an extra rinse to help get the grime off. I have reduced my soap by half and the dishes still feel gritty. There must be something wrong with this. What can/should I do to have a rep come out to see what the problem is?

This washer has many bad issues. I purchased it 1 year ago. Most annoying is the soap dispenser rarely works. Sometimes it doesnt dispense other times it dispenses only a little and lately only when the cycles done and I open the door it dispenses. The drying cycle never ever has dried the dishes. Water puddles on top of glassware and bowls constantly. I always have to dry the dishes. The adjustable racks are most annoying, as they dont stay where you adjust them and I spend too much time bent down adjusting them as they collapse again. The filter that you have to remove and clean all the time is a pain. This overprice dishwasher was the biggest mistake. It has turned me sour on LG appliances as I purchased a LG fridge at the same time, which is a whole other complaint. Stay away from LG!

Updated on 6/4/2020: They keep posting that they are here to help and I provided my number three times and no one calls!!!! I’ll be fair and retract post but so far I’ve received no call after a message to private message them. I was also supposed to get a call a week ago for food spoilage and nothing!!!!Original review: I am on my third LG counter depth fridge and the compressor went on all of them. 3 fridges in 6 months. Home Depot was willing to change our fridge and refund my money and that’s what I am doing. Do Not buy an LG fridge. Don’t. Just don’t...Oh and my 1000 dollar dishwasher needed a new control panel in a week. Sealed it out. Lg reviews that are good are usually people for most part that had their fridge for a couple months. Then if you need repair good luck trying to speak with someone that doesn’t sound like a robot and they don’t speak English. Just don’t do it!!!!

I purchased an LG Dishwasher LDP6797ST on 1/27/18. On 1/21/19 just 6 days before the warranty would have expired the dishwasher wouldn't power on. A day later it powered on but wouldn't function properly. Scared I would have warranty expiration problems, I quickly purchased an additional 2 year extension and sent in a service repair via LG website. Two days later they contacted me and tried some troubleshooting over the phone. It didn't work so the rep said someone would contact me. The repairman contacted me 2 days later and said he needed to order a power board. Two days later he called and stated he was coming to repair. He showed and made the repair and the dishwasher has been working flawlessly. I also have had an OLED TV for 2 years and never experienced any problems with it.

We purchased a LG 3 door fridge with ice and water two years ago. Did some updating in the kitchen and decided it would be nice to have one last new one... The one we replaced it with was a 25+ year old side by side GE... Still worked fine, never did a repair to it, but this LG was so pretty.. All electronic computerized.. Almost two years to the day we got it, it has died taking everything stored in it with it? This is so disheartening for retired people that just want one last nice thing in their lives... I bought a new LG washer and Dryer, and a new 70 inch LG tv... Praying these don’t go out like the fridge! Be cautious about buying an LG!

LG makes terrible appliances. I purchase all new kitchen appliances last year. I am not happy with any of them. The dishwasher in particular likes to remind me of my terrible purchase with each cycle. The door alarm will sound at least once each cycle. When this happens I am forced to open and close the door and restart in a certain time. When I call customer support, they tell me all authorized service techs are booked. I cannot believe I have been duped by LG - I have had one problem after another with this refrigerator (LFXS29766S) that cost $2884.00 and was purchased in April 2015. Worked fine for almost a year. I called Home Depot where it was purchased when the ice and water on the door failed. They said, too bad it was 13 months after purchase and they only cover up to 12 months. Water failed again and had to be fixed. Now, it stopped cooling and no fan. Every service repair company turned me down to work on this fridge because they are notorious for being as one said crappy - needless to say, I am a very unhappy person and will NEVER by an LG appliance again. I purchased my LG dishwasher on april 11, 2015. I did not purchase an extended warranty as LG was supposed to be a high end appliance company and felt the product would not require service right away. However, I was wrong. One week after my 1 year purchase date, the dishwasher had an oe error code flashing one morning, which I did not know what that meant. So I continue to use it and instead of running at night while sleeping I decided to run before we went to bed. The dishwasher when first starting had a loud grinding noise, which sounded like it was trying to take off and start flying.I went online to find that this is a problem with the dishwasher and the company does not back their warranty. I started a chat at 8:38 to resolve the issue and remained on the chat until 10:52, with no resolution. I then called the company direct. Spoke with a rep and a supervisor, both of which informed me my dishwasher had no warranty. Only after I had to contact Sears, get a duplicate receipt, upload it to them and they reviewed it. Since I got a discount on my dishwasher due to the door having had swirl marks on the front it voided any extended warranty. Therefore, I like many others will have to pay a serviceman to come repair my dishwasher that I purchased just over a year ago. I would tell anyone looking for any type of appliance. Do not buy LG anything!!! Their customer service is awful and their warranty is ridiculous.Update 5/13/16: I received from LG names and numbers of authorized repairman in our area. Called their repairman, was told by them Oh, maam, you are not in my service area. So, therefore, I have no one to service my dishwasher.

4 of 5 of my LG PRODUCTS have had problems. My LG side by side refrigerator with ice maker and freezer on the bottom caught fire on Christmas EVE one year while we were sleeping. After much negotiating it was finally replaced. The replacements ice maker failed and the doors broke twice. My LG top load washer rusted out... it took a year to get it fixed. Meanwhile it had a couple of recalls on the panel and tub. My LG dishwasher stopped working altogether... I replaced it. The second doesnt clean my dishes well. AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO FAITH IN THE PRODUCTS OR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. LG simply does not want to deal with their faulty products and its customer service dep representatives are difficult to understand.

I was very excited and purchased all brand new LG appliances in late 2016 after purchasing a new home. The dishwasher has 3 racks and after 4 months the top brackets are supposed to be adjustable and do not stay upright. They are supposed to clip into brackets and have come apart. In addition, there are 6 spots on the upper and lower rack that have been burned and are completely falling apart. This was a very high end dishwasher and will not buy another LG. My brand new stainless French door refrigerator with 2 freezer drawers is also a disappointment. The side areas have broken apart and I have taped them together. Very poor design as it only holds very few items that are tall like milk gallons.

Purchased our first big purchase for our kitchen remodel. All LG products. Stainless steel. Big upgrade for us. The dishwasher had 2 minor problems that we were able to fix. Our refrigerator (model LFX28978ST/0) although has had 3 of the shelves in the door cracked, a rolling wheel on the Vegetable bin broke, the clear cover on the butter dish broke and the ice tray cracked. All within 3 year of purchase. LG suggests we purchase the entire ice maker $180 just for a $10 ice tray, the vegetable bin is no longer available. The other parts I was able to purchase at $150. Will never invest in an LG product of any kind! Bought one of LG’s high-end dishwashers (model LDP6797BD) less than 2 years ago for its quiet running, nice bells and whistles (including WiFi access), and 5 year warranty for electronics. A few days ago the LED display started going on/off, dancing through all the readouts, beeping, and displaying what appeared to be an error code (“L2”) but wasn’t. We called for warranty repairs with a local authorized technician. He calls LG and they tell him its hardware (user interface board), not software (which clearly it was). Minimum repair cost, $285 (included the $85 service call).I call LG to explain why it’s the software and should be under warranty. LG’s Customer Service agrees it could be electronics and will dispatch their factory technician for $125 plus and a minimum labor charge of $65 (but up to $175) if its covered under warranty. Unlike the local technician’s $85 service fee, LG’s service fee of $125 is not applied towards repairs. I explained that I could buy a new dishwasher (NOT an LG) for what I would spend in repairs and my previous $300 dishwasher lasted 10 years…what’s wrong with their product(s)?

Man I wish we would have paid for new racks for our old KitchenAid. My blood pressure rises every time, every time I load up this crappy LG dishwasher. The tines are badly located, what is with the big area on the lower rack that had no tines? Because of the rack/tine design, we get about 20% less dishes in this thing. Then it runs forever but that is part of all new dishwashers. I like how sites say to run the water first so the water is hot. Yep KitchenAid heated the water much better. It had a heating element on the bottom that dried the dishes. KitchenAid had a filter on the bottom that was easily removable. The spray arms on the LG are so flimsy. I wonder if they will last 2 years. Errr!!!

Ive had my LG Front Load washer for several years. It is horrible and always has been. My clothes smell and Ive tried every product to get rid of the smell. My white clothes are always dingy regardless of what I do. Now the bleach cup is always full of water after every load of clothes is washed. Upon washing another load, when the dispenser drawer is pulled out, the water in the bleach cup comes streaming out. I barely ever use bleach, so it cant be a rust problem. I will be glad when this horrible machine dies. Ill for sure get something else and not an LG product. My LG dishwasher isnt worth a hoot either. Never again will I purchase LG products.

This is the most useless dishwasher I have ever owned (LDF5545ST). My 20-year-old GE works better than this thing. The energy efficient drying is absolutely useless. I have followed every instruction in the owners manual, ensured that my water is hot enough, and everything else that LG recommends. I always have to dry at least half the dishes by hand. It’s actually faster to wash dishes by hand. I would never, ever, ever, buy another LG dishwasher. Do yourself a favor, buy something else.

I own LG dishwasher LDF8072st. Purchased 8/13. 3 weeks ago, I recd an error code which determines a leak. I spoke with LG customer service who authorized repair under extended warranty. 2 different companies have been here a total of 5 times. The machine is still not fixed after installing a new door panel. Today the tech. informed me that they ordered a new pump to be installed November 11. I will be 5 weeks without a dishwasher. I have taken 4 days off from work to be here with a repair tech, and one Saturday. LG refuses to replace the product and gives me a different answer every time I call. They just apologize for my inconvenience.

We purchased a new LG dishwasher. After the 1st time using it came up with LE error. Paperwork mentioned problem with motor to call for service. I contacted LG service. She took down my information and told me she could not get it repaired for approximately 2 weeks. I then called Conns service and they stated they would get back with me within 48 hrs. 48 hrs came and went so I called back. They stated they cant find a repairman in the area. This was unacceptable so I contacted 2 other managers before I got any thing half way accomplished. They had to send a man to my house to verify it was getting the error code. They then decided yes it needs replaced. This should not be allowed. I just hope I can stop this before it happens to anyone else. Needless to say they are SUPPOSE to deliver a new one Friday.

Dishwasher from day 1 never cleaned the dishes that well. The tines in the lower rack will not allow my dishes that are concave shaped to stand up no matter what I do. The dishes never come out dry no matter what cycle I choose. The dish washer has a terrible odor and so do the dishes and now the motor makes a high pitched squealing noise. I would give LG service negative stars, if I can. I purchased a dishwasher in April (model number: LDS4821ST), and the unit has worked pretty well. Recently and suddenly, the paint on one of the control buttons started to come off. I called LG and sent them pictures. I was told that it was a cosmetic problem, and they would not repair. I understand if this was a year or two from now, but four months after purchase and the paint is coming off? It is an obvious quality problem.I purchased a washer and a drier from LG about five years ago, and feel they were of much better quality than their current products. I bought a fridge as well in April, and that has problems already, as well. LG was totally dismissive; what is worse is that they refused to send me their response in writing! Im still paying for the appliance that already looks crappy!

We bought our LG washer and dryer in 2006. You can take any of the complaints/descriptions from the others and put our name under it as our problems are the same as theirs. The problem with smell and extreme mold buildup started immediately and continues to this day. We clean it weekly with washing machine cleaners, bleach and dishwasher detergent to no avail. The washer door stays open when not in use. LG customer service? It does not exist. We will never buy an LG product ever--not even an alarm clock! I would give it zero stars if I could. We have a smelly washer filled with mold and mildew. We are going to buy a new washer today. Good riddance, LG!

After less than a year began having OE error codes appear and dishwasher stopping in mid-cycle. Did diagnostic over phone with LG and said it was probably pump. Read reviews and saw some who said they replaced pump, control board and no better. I used shop vac to suck out water, then took long time balancing dishwasher, then re-routed drain pipe up high, instead of cabinet floor. Has worked since with only filter cleaning every few loads. Still a horrible machine, but working for now. Hope this helps. Good luck. Next purchase I will read ALL reviews before buying.

Worst. Dishwasher. Ever. The tines collapse. The tines are too short and spaced poorly so the plates flop over and dont get clean. Dishes chip. The dishwasher rack derails because the rack is a little too narrow and the rollers arent wide enough to stay on the rail. It derails constantly. Then I have to try to lug a heavy rack back onto the rails and then it derails in the other direction. Detergent door doesnt click into place. Dishes often do not get clean. Purple plastic pieces holding the adjustable tines pop off and rows of tines fall into the dishwasher bottom. The pump has failed 4 or 5 times in 3 years, either blocked or defective. I made repeated, polite complaints to the company when problems persisted past the warranty period. LG DOESNT BACK THEIR PRODUCT! I paid $899 and Im replacing it with a Bosch that costs half of that. I hate this dishwasher! No, I really hate this dishwasher! (It gets one star because I cant give it negative 5 stars.)

Just bought the LG LDT9965BD Dishwasher. It does not dry the dishes properly. I didnt realize that the dishwasher has what they call a hybrid drying system. The dishwasher does not have a heating element, instead, it relies on the heat that is retained by the dishes. They recommend hotter water which is NOT a good idea if you have children. Also, rinse aid is REQUIRED to enhance the drying performance. They should really inform customers about this. Also, the inside of the door stays wet all the time unless you dry it after you wash your dishes.

The technician who came to assessed the LG dishwasher was improperly installed. In reading the reviews 279 owners of LG dishwashers felt the LG dishwasher was a joke, poorly designed. We replaced a Magic Chef dishwasher, that was over 27 years old, and still was in working order. The stainless LG dishwasher looks smart, but in reality the dishwasher is crap. This dishwasher takes 2 hours to run a cycle! With a 2 hour cycle, you would expect spotless dishes. What a joke. I never have dishes that come clean in this dishwasher. The spaces between the tines are poorly spaced so that I am forced to use every other space or the dishes rest against one another. It holds about 1/2 the dishes that my old Kenmore held and doesnt get the dishes clean at all. This is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. I have tried everything to get it to clean better. I run dishwasher cleaner through it all the time. I turned my hot water heater up to scalding to try to improve its performance. I have used pre-treater, rinse aid, different detergents, etc. It is just plain awful! I wish I had read these reviews before I bought this piece of junk. Never again! Im going back to Kenmore.

I cannot wait to buy a new dishwasher. This LG inverter direct drive DOES NOT dry dishes, glasses, utensils, nothing really. Water is often left standing on the top of dishes and glasses. The smell coming from the dishwasher is something Ive been working hard to get rid of to no avail. Bleach, vinegar, you name it, doesnt fix it. As of lately, my dishes are not coming out clean either. I always rinse my dishes/utensils before placing them in the dishwasher. I actually questioned myself if I even ran the dishwasher because of how dirty they came out-and it did run! At this point, Id rather just hand wash my dishes to know they are actually clean and dont come out smelling terrible. The only plus to this dishwasher, is that it is quiet. Id take a louder dishwasher that actually does its job over this quiet one!

Back in 2012, I purchased $8000 worth of LG appliances for my kitchen and laundry. Long story short I have replaced the dishwasher, it could not be repaired. In September of this year, the microwave exhaust had a mind of its own. It would come on and off by itself. To use the it I would plug it in and unplug it. The part to repair it was more than half the price of a new one. In September I purchased the model LMH2235ST. A short time later the exhaust fan stopped working. I called customer service more than a dozen times. They gave me a case number and said they will call when to set up a date to come and repair. After many calls to them they kept saying they would expedite it. I have heard that several times more. I have asked them to send another to my home with a return label, but they said they could not do that. I called customer service just now December first, now I dont even get to speak to anyone, the recording says to go online. So thank you LG for nothing!!

Have a LG Dishwasher Model LDS4821ST. After purchasing this and about 2-3 months later notice a bad odor. A few days after cleaning dishes it smelled like something died in the unit but the smell was inside. After putting off calling LG I could not stand the smell any more so I emailed them. They e-mailed me back with recommendations such as Check your disposal for odors and try putting in vinegar and run a cycle with no dishes. Did not help the odor still there.A few days later this was still barely in warranty. I emailed again and they gave me a claim number and a repair service to call, the service guy said You still have to pay and that claim number is a conversation number not for me to charge LG. Repairs that would cost $300 and replace a part is up to me and you will not have the odor again. Yeah right I think it a bad design on the draining system that bacteria starts to develop. They do not stand behind their products. I even stated in second email that if the service guy says its my fault I would pay for the call. At this point I am probably going to buy a different brand. The control panel cracked right through the power button within 2 months of it being brand new. Every time you close the door to start a cycle, it flashes its lights and then shuts off. Ive learned to shimmy the door side to side just right before closing it in order to get the cycle to start otherwise it just beeps at you and then shuts off. If it does start the cycle, it only actually finishes it about 50% of the time. You have to clean the trap every single wash - it seems like the screen is too fine and it catches so much itty bitty debris that it clogs it completely. Our LG dishwasher has never (since the day we had it installed) cleaned our dishes or dried them. I first noticed that after carefully rinsing all residue off my dishes, they still were dirty after running them through the normal cleaning cycle. I then washed my dishes and started using the power scrub feature every time and noticed the dishes had either food or soap reside on them and were never hot or dry after the washer stopped. I have to pre-wash everything I put into it and wipe off the soap afterward even though I use Jet-Dry. My dishes are barely warm when the 2-hour power scrub cycle is finished. I called LG support and after several questions, I realized that the customer service rep was going through a checklist in order to troubleshoot the root cause of the problem. She asked if I had cleaned the unit by the manual instructions to make sure there was no food debris clogging (YES). She asked if I used the proper detergent and if my washer actually had power to it (Yes and yes). She asked if I used the power scrub feature. She wanted to know if my dishwasher was connected to my garbage disposal? She said I had to check the line to make sure it was clear, but she told me that there was no way for me to do that other than looking at the line - REALLY? She told me that I obviously needed a technician to come out for the price of $85.00 to diagnose and probably more than $250.00 for parts and labor. She also told me that I could not talk to a technician or anyone else other than her over the phone.Weve had nothing but trouble from our LG refrigerator as well - having had to replace the water line 4 TIMES before the fridge actually stopped working and then had to pay LG for a new motherboard. I will NEVER again buy another LG appliance. Customer service is POOR at best and appliance functionality is a joke.

I have been an LG customer for very long with almost all appliances being from LG. However my dishwasher problem has disappointed me greatly. I have an dishwasher model D1452WF which is my 2nd LG dishwasher over a period of 15 years. However after 4 years of using D1452WF, I noticed start of rusting of both the upper and lower racks/trays. I thought it was just a minor issue and continued using. But now after one more year, I have noticed that the rust has increased. The spares racks cost around US$215. I am really disappointed. What is the use of a 10 year motor warranty when the inside trays start rusting much earlier. I use salt regularly to soften the water. I have no other problems with the machine. So there is no point in buying such an equipment unless they make reliable parts as well.

I purchased a $1,200, top of the line LG, in September of 2009. November of 2011 the machine came up with an error code of 1E, which the manual states a water inlet valve. So the part was replaced. Guess what? That wasnt the issue, so I contacted LG, and they had me go over some troubleshooting over the phone with no luck. So they gave me appliance repair centers that only deal with LG. To make a long story short, after having 2 parts swapped out - one was for $91.00, the inlet valve was $54.00 and another $91.00 yet to be paid to the appliance repair guy. Oh and I forgot about the computer board (which only has a 5 year warranty) was replaced - I have a $1,200.00 dishwasher that does not work!LG called me to say that they will prorate it by giving me $676.00. After all that was put into it, that comes to $440.00 and I have to send mine back. Hmm. I told LG that this is unacceptable. Her answer, Well sir, its a man made product, so I laughed in which I replied, So if I purchase anything from LG and it craps out after 3 years, I am supposed to just accept that Oh well! Its man made? My fellow consumers out there, beware. Life is not good with LG.

After reading so many one star reviews, Im now concerned this dishwasher may break at any moment. Ive had no issues and have used it almost daily for about one and one-half years. I guess Im fortunate because this was given to me by a family member who was moving into a new home and remodeling the kitchen with all new appliances (installed it myself). LG inverter direct drive. Ive always used Finish cubes.

I bought this 2 years ago and had problems from the first load. The bottom slide out rack CONSTANTLY goes off track and can take 5-6 times to get it back on. Not an easy task when you are bent over and it is full. Dishes are always spotty, have tried every cycle and lots of different detergents and rinses. Everything is spotty and has a slippery feel to it. I end up using the rinse cycle only after doing a load and then they dont dry. More times than not I just hand wash the dishes. QUICKER, MUCH MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT AND DONE RIGHT. DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP.

Our LG dishwasher was installed 9 months ago and white marks (not water marks) are appearing at the top of the panel and on the handle. We only use stainless steel cleaner and are not able to remove the marks as it appears the finish is coming off. One of the marks on the handle is the size of a quarter. LG is unable to help as its a cosmetic issue. Is anyone having problems with the finish on their dishwasher? Wed like to determine whats causing the problem to avoid further marks. I hate to see what the dishwasher is going to look like in 2 years...

Purchased my LG French door refrigerator in 2015. After the first year of owning it, the water lines froze up completely and started freezing the inside of my refrigerator. Service tech sent out to fix. Cost was more than what it should have been to fix a refrigerator that was just a year old. Then year 2 another service call and money spent out of my pocket to fix just to turn around and call them 7 months later. After more money was thrown into the refrigerator it was fixed only for a short time. In 2018, had another service tech come out and he could not tell me what the issue was. Call again, another service tech came out and we were told it was fixed. 2 weeks later I called again because the fridge had stopped Cooling yet again and again we lost most of the food inside. This time we were sent parts and the Tech that came out said it would cost over $1,000 for labor and we didnt have the parts that we truly needed. The service technician somehow broke the back panel of the refrigerator also. This was in July of 2018. The tech left the refrigerator taking apart and in pieces. Over a year later 2 October 2019, the appliance still sits in my house with the parts out of it and I have a non-working refrigerator. I purchased a small used refrigerator to get by until I was financially able to purchase another refrigerator. In 2015, we suffered a house fire which was a total loss so when I redone my kitchen I read reviews and thought I was making an informed purchase. Was I ever wrong!! My LG refrigerator isnt worth a dime and my LG dishwasher has had several issues in which Ive not even bothered to try to get fixed. I have just dealt with these issues myself also I have a LG washer and dryer. Luckily I havent had issues with it yet but I wouldnt be surprised if and when it does happen. With a name brand such as LG you would think they would do more for the customer. I finally spoke with LG again September of 2019, as I had heard they were covering certain aspects of French door refrigerators being fixed in the hopes of getting back my $2,500 refrigerator but still nothing has been done. I would steer clear of LG appliances in general. But more importantly I would make sure I stayed away from any LG refrigerators as they do not stand behind their product. This was the first time I had purchased so many appliances at once and lesson learned the hard way!

Unfortunately we did not read reviews before purchasing our LG Model 5040ST
Unfortunately we did not read reviews before purchasing our LG Model 5040ST Dishwasher in June 2013 through a local Home Depot. We were replacing a dishwasher that had run well for several years but which finally sprang enough leaks that it could not be patched and we also hoped to improve the water usage/efficiency with a newer appliance. We liked the efficiency ratings, noise ratings, and features for the LG and got a great deal on one normally priced at nearly $700 for a mere $498. The plastic components discolored very quickly and became gray and somewhat brittle. However, it continued to clean, although it slowly became progressively more noisy. Two months ago we got the dreaded message that the motor was seized.Calling LG, I spoke with Bryan who I finally had to ask to stop eating while talking with me so we could get through the call a bit quicker. I explained at the beginning of the call that the motor had seized according to the diagnostics. At the end of his script of questions, he asked me what the problem was. Ultimately he told me it wasnt in warranty and I had to tell him that the parts were still under warranty. He agreed, but then told me it would likely cost $75 for a visit and around $200 in labor so he wasnt sure it was worth repairing. When I told him I would like to get the contacts of the approved repair folks, he gave me two numbers. He then asked me if he could have my email address so they could send me promotional materials about other LG products. I told him that a dishwasher whose motor seized after less than 18 months of use was not a great advertisement for the brand so no, he could not have my email address to promote other products. We have had four dishwashers in 40 years. Each has lasted 8-9 years minimum - and one we simply left behind in a move and it continued to be used by the people we left it with for several more years. The dishwasher is very attractive and still looks brand new. After my husband and I talked through what it would cost to get this repaired - with the same type of motor that seized after just 18 months, and with the clear lack of care or pride of ownership by LG representatives, we decided there was little point and we are putting it out on the curb. Instead, we went back online to renew our subscription to companies that we trust that rate appliances and next time we will do more research first. I have no illusions that LG cares one bit about their products or they would have better trained personnel on their call centers and they would have a product that meets minimum expectations for a common household appliance. My only reason for submitting this review is to hopefully help someone else make a more informed decision. Im just so sorry I didnt come here first.

Bought the dishwasher 4 years ago. Rack system collapses when you load plates - had to jerry rig something to prevent from happening, the hose discharging the water leaked after 3 years of normal use (very thin, cheap hose I had to replace), had numerous occasions where it would not pump water out so had to manually remove the water and it would then worked again until now when it is not longer pumping. I think I am going to start buying disposable appliances - the kind that cost less you dont feel bad throwing away after a few years of use cause they did not cost a fortune...

Bought this DW because the guy at Home Depot told us it was the top of the line... it was the most expensive. It looked awesome, and seemed to have great features. We spend near $1000 on it. If you like to wash your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, and again before you put them back in the cupboards... This is a great dishwasher. About 1 in 10 items comes out remotely clean (cutlery 1 in 40). The racks are useless and cause domino effect of falling plates every time you load it. Nothing seems to fit in any of the many racking configurations. If I ever win the lotto, Im taking a sledgehammer to this thing, it is by far the worst appliance I ever bought. I will NEVER buy anything LG again.

We were very excited to purchase all LG black stainless appliances for our new kitchen which was completed at the end of Sept 2017. By the end of October, we realized the dishwasher (LDF7774BD) is just the WORST. Since this is newer technology than what we had, it was my hope that we just needed to learn how to use it. It is now end of the year and still very dissatisfied. Dishes do not come clean, nor do they dry. Wash time is the longest I have ever seen - over 2 hours for a normal wash cycle. All racks are bad design. The bottom rack comes off the track every time we use it. The adjustable racks fall down no matter how you adjust them. The top rack is supposed to be height adjustable but the only adjustment we can find is to remove the racks so that we can wash our 6.5 inch tall glasses in the glass rack. Will be contacting the retailer and LG soon to find a solution. We were very excited to purchase all LG black stainless appliances for our new kitchen which was completed at the end of Sept 2017. My LG top loading washing machine (WT5101H) is 7 years old and it has never performed well, even after a recall fix. And now, the drum is sitting on the floor under the machine. I live south of Atlanta and there is only one service technician and he is over an hour away. Having one qualified service tech for the entire Atlanta area is absurd! My dishwasher broke down after 5 years - the heating element went out and started leaking water. The ice machine on the refrigerator has failed several times. I spent close to $5000 on these LG appliances and Im so disappointed. Never again.

Newer LG stainless steel dishwasher came with home we purchased 2011. Had to fix after two months of move in. It wasnt draining. Fixed then it had to be fixed. A few months after that, it wouldnt turn on. It has constant mold problem. I ran with bleach, I wipe between rubber molding inside where mold is with bleach, run vinegar cycle clean. Find mold on cups and mold grew all over wood handle item. Some rust on inside sides, 2 hour run time. Power button is way too sensitive, starts on own as bumping against it starts it. Also the tines on bottom rack are so close that front part bottom rack is unusable and top rack doesnt hold glasses well, had several glasses break. Bad design all around, bottom rack is very low to floor. I would never buy an LG dishwasher.

Bought LG dishwasher from Home Depot July 2020. Delivered in 9/2020, due to Covid. Tried to make it work in two of our family homes, multiple calls to service techs. Gave me a repair reference number, which eventually revealed that no LG service tech services in our area, and no local repair was found when LG looked for one. I have a new service number now, and twice they have said it will be 7 to 10 days before I know if I will get a refund. It is still under warranty. Stalling is just unbelievable. One time they said the Power Service Team would decide, now it has been given to Defective Returns Department. I do NOT want another one, if no one can service it even with a warranty.I sent an email to their CEO at LG. If I dont get my refund (sent all paperwork 2 times) I am going to ask consumer media TV people to publicly help me. We still dont have any dishwasher, want our money back to purchase a different one from anyone but LG. My situation sounds like one of another persons review.... That worries me that we wont get a fair solution.

The worst item EVER that Ive bought in my entire life. Ive had a lot of amazing dishwashers over the years from cheap on up. This ones a nightmare. From Day 1 there were issues with LG. Plates dont stack. They immediately fall over (like dominoes). The cutlery holder malfunctioned almost immediately. It no longer locks together to hold the utensil basket in place. This results in the far end basket (one of 4) tipping over into the unit from the weight. The top rack organizing glasses, bowls or cups. Again items continually fall over. I (originally) thought adjustable times on both the top and bottom rack was a smart idea. Im sure it looked good on paper but its a complete and total failure. Nothing is secure. Nothing is reliable. Does LG even bother to test the equipment they build? From the bottom of my heart...if you see this dishwasher for sale please just run away as fast as you can!

I purchased a top of the line LG stainless washer and dryer a few years ago and both appliances are poor quality. I would not recommend LG to anyone. It has been a frustrating experience, as they are malfunctioning more than they are working! Last year, I waited for months just to get the right parts and then they break down again. My washer is continuously leaking in various places. Service technicians have told me I would be better off with a Kenmore! Very disheartening after spending so much money because you feel you are buying quality. This is surely not the case!

Purchased LG dishwasher about 15 months ago. After installation, we noticed a burning odor when it was on the drying cycle. We assumed it was just the new smell that would soon go away. It never did. After about nine months, we noticed an error code (hE) and that the dishes werent drying well. Called LG and got a local repair company to come out. They replaced the motor assembly, but the code was still there. Had the repair person out again and they replaced the circuit/control board. Nada. Called again, just days before our one-year warranty had expired and they came out to replace the motor once again and this time it worked. No odor.About a month or two into the new motor, we noticed the burning smell again. This morning, the (hE) error code was back. Im not expecting much response from LG after reading the other posts listed here. Fortunately, I purchased a 4-year extended warranty from Home Depot, so guess Ill have to start wrestling with them! I wish I had looked here before I made my purchase. Just to be fair, we bought a new LG washer and dryer at the same time and have been quite pleased with its performance.

LG Dishwasher Model ldf7561st - Wow, wish I read these reviews before purchasing. We upgraded our kitchen with new appliances, all LG. To be honest, the other appliances have been OK for their purchase price... This dishwasher, however, has broken down after 2 years of normal use. After calling their very friendly customer service phone bank (that has no actual power to do anything), I was informed that, lucky for me, in order to repair the dishwasher, I had two options: pay $400 for a warranty or only $265 for a repair! What a deal on their product that couldnt handle 2 years of operation! So ridiculous - I will not purchase another appliance from this company again.

On 10.01.12, I complained that our LG Front load washing machine model no. F 1056LDP was not working. The service person came and spotted that panel wire was cut and told that the panel was out of stock. After a gap of 15 days, he came and changed the wire and left without checking due to current failure at that time. He assured that he will come after half an hour when the current comes to check the running of the machine. We paid Rs.500/-to him even though the machine was under warranty. But the machine was not working even after changing of wire. So again, we phoned to M/s. Golden Enterprises, Chennai-60 but nobody took the phone. Even after 20 days nobody turned up to rectify the machine. Again, we spoke with LG Customer Care and registered a complaint. But then also till date no one came to even see the machine. Due to this we have suffered a lot and it is really a mental agony after having spent Rs.20,000/- on the machine. We do not know where to complain about the irregularities in the services of LG company. It is very disheartening to note that such an esteemed organization has failed to cater to the needs of a customer.

We purchased the LG French door, bottom freezer about 5 years ago. We spent the extra money because we thought that LG was one of the best at the time. This model has only the water-in-the-door; icemaker in bottom drawer. The salesperson showed us why THIS bottom drawer was better than others with the same idea: the gear-type rollers were more substantial and the slides were larger. The rationale was that it would be more durable. In the past year, the freezer drawer is becoming harder and harder to pull out and/or push in. I have taken the bin out and found grease/graphite on the bottom of the unit and along the left rail. Water from the icemaker also tends to build up as it sometimes drips onto the left rail, making the rolling very difficult. After wiping it out, it seems to be fine for a few hours...then its hard again. We have had it with LG appliances. We had an LG dishwasher that nobody would work on. The LG washer/dryer that we have, are doing OK for now, but the bellows in the bottom of the washer where the water is pumped has cracked twice in 5 years, allowing water to run get on the floor. I should have had a pan put under the washer, but this indicates either bad engineering or bad design.

1st dishwasher faulty control panel. LG wanted us to wait for 3.5 months for part. I had to raise bloody hell before they agreed maybe this was a touch unreasonable. Luckily Lowes mgmt was outstanding and took machine back and gave us replacement. Installation number two completed to find door latch assembly faulty and after LG needing two different repair people to verify this machine too is a piece of crap the new door assembly part will not be available for 40 days from now and will not replace machine and expect us to wait for their repairs. Why oh why did I not read recent reviews of LG products. I have all LG appliances in my home that I have had for over 10 years. Now reviews say newer LG products a consumer is lucky to get 3 years. Calling all consumers... Vote with your $$, stop buying LG and lets put this company out of business.

I bought the French door with bottom drawer pull out freezer & ice/wate
I bought the French door with bottom drawer pull out freezer & ice/water in door refrigerator Model# LFX28968D (& matching dishwasher) in July 2017... delivered mid Sept 2017. Spent $3200 before tax. Compressor failed May 2021... Fridge looks like operating normally but nothing frozen in freezer, no cooling in fridge and obviously no ice. Turns out my model# along with some other LG models have KNOWN COMPRESSOR FAILURE problems... But yet they kept producing them... And when compressor failed - they replaced with same (if still under warranty) and in a large number of cases-those replacements also failed! Remember-even though the compressor may be covered you still pay for time/ labour on repair visit. There was a class action lawsuit in USA that was settled and compensated everyone in Feb 2021-but this is only in USA not Canada. Personally I think they would have upheld their reputation had they done a recall... It’s not just a loss of a few hundred dollars... We’re talking thousands for the product, hundreds in frozen/refrigerated food loss and hundreds in repair labour fees (maybe multiple times)... I am fortunate to have purchased extended warranty from the business where I bought the fridge... which I don’t typically do. The repair company was great - came quickly and they already had this part stocked because they’ve been going to multiple calls with this issue. When it comes to the next new fridge I need to buy it will definitely NOT be an LG product... because when the compressor fails (once or more) Life’s NOT Good! I’m not sure this will actually get published but this is the link to the class action lawsuit details that includes all the model#’s. **

I just spent 1 hr and 15 minutes on the phone so LG can diagnose my brand new dishwasher--used 3 times! This piece of garbage leaves dishes filthy!!! I heard every stupid excuse why this piece of garbage wont clean. This one is good---we dont have enough water pressure--even though the machine controls the force of the jets via its internal jets. In fact, LG boasts of their Direct Drive pumps/motor that supposed to clean so well! It has nothing to do with water pressure because the unit is filled before the wash cycle starts!!! After all the attempts to diagnose the problem via my smartphone, nothing worked. I told them to just get a service repair person out. I was told that if this is the normal operation of your unit, it wont be covered under their warranty and will be charged!!! This LG dishwasher is a piece of garbage, as is their so-called customer service. DO NOT PURCHASE LG!!!

LG cleans fairly well, but if dishes sit they get moldy. Its quiet when running. Quiet. Would like to have had the racks designed differently to accommodate more sizes of dishes and glassware. White, plain. The brackets supporting the dishwasher broke within a year so my dishwasher is without the side supports that hold it in place. When the dishwasher door is opened, the racks all slide forward and the lower rack goes off the tracks quite quickly.
