I put a small potato in microwave and set the automatic feature. Within a few minutes the smoke detector in the dining room went off and I noticed that the microwave was on fire. About 3/4 of the potato was completely burned to a black crisp while about 1/4 of the same potato was burned but no black. The fire was so hot that the microwave plate was burned. This was my second experience with a fire in a Kitchenaid microwave. The first time was during the warranty period 2 years ago. The company was supposed to have fixed the problem.

I have unplugged the microwave and will contact KitchenAid for repairs. I will also file a complaint with the government product safety commission. I am convinced this product is a serious fire hazard and its only a question of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Bought the above dishwasher on July 20, 2015. Had the warranty for three years. Dishwasher stopped working on April 26, 2017. Service call, gentleman came out put new motor in and pump and said, Increase your hot water temperature. Mind you it was already at 130 degrees. December 9, 2019 replaced thermostat (not covered under warranty). Still doesnt work. Appliance repairman come out again, and stated the board is bad and also, it needs a new pump and motor. He stated, Youre better off buying a new dishwasher than putting money into something that is 4 years old. Very disappointed in KitchenAid.

Our experience with Kitchenaid has been a disaster. Their response? Complete indifference. My wife and I bought $10k worth of appliances less than two years ago. The first to fail? The dishwasher routinely flooded the floors. After the 4th repairman came to our house our dishwasher was replaced. The first two repair visits the repairman suggested maybe we were putting our dishes in the unit incorrectly and the second time he said maybe we were using the wrong soap. Really? Our wall oven has required two visits from repairmen to recalibrate the controls because when it said 350 degrees it was actually 250 degrees. Now the unit wont get out of the preheat stage. And now after spending Friday morning away from work to have $750 worth of replacement parts installed by a repairman, the refrigerator is broken again - including water all over the floor. We did purchase an extended warranty with the products through Best Buy. EVERY TIME we call Best Buy they do their best to point the finger at Kitchen Aid and Kitchen Aid responds with a we could care less about your problem.” So whats next? We continue to get our appliances fixed (that is until they break again) but we need help with getting Kitchen Aid and Best Buy to care.

We purchased the KitchenAid Dishwasher with built-in water softener not last summer, but the previous one (less than 2 years ago). A few weeks ago, we were sitting in our family room when we noticed acrid smoke pouring out of the dishwasher, and an electrical popping noise (shorting). We ran and turned off the power at the breaker box. Sure enough, the control panel was smoking and completely dead. Thankfully, we were in the next room in our open concept home or this could have turned into a major fire. We paid almost $1000 for this dishwasher, hoping that the better model & water softener would mean it would last longer. Do NOT buy this dishwasher as it is UNSAFE to have in your home. We walked away from the Whirlpool brand over this, after many years of brand loyalty to Whirlpool and its family of brands.

Purchased the KitchenAid KUDS35FXBL3FXBL3 dishwasher for approx $1000. In less than 2 years time, I have had the upper rack rollers break numerous times, and have replaced 4 sets at this point. On one occasion, the small plastic roller part that tends to break ended up falling into the drain system of the dishwasher and jammed the mechanism, causing it to immediately shut down. To date, all but one set of rack roller parts have been replaced under warranty, and the problem with the jammed motor/pump was also fixed under warranty. HOWEVER - the repeated breaking of the rack rollers in an ongoing and unacceptable problem. Despite the evidence, KitchenAid customer service claims there is no known issue with these parts. I offered to send them a link to this site, which details numerous complaints for this very issue, but they declined. AVOID PURCHASING SIMILAR KITCHENAID DISHWASHER MODELS.

KitchenAid refrigerator model #KSCS25INSS01 failed, quit and died - This refrigerator quit working after only 5.6 years. It was the main control board. The fact that I lost some food wasnt the real issue for me. It was the response I received: We are very sorry, the control board is no longer available. The vendor that manufactures the part is no longer available, with no new supplier to manufacture the part at this time. Since we are also consumers, we understand your frustration. My only option is to send the part out and have it repaired. No response to my question about warranty and no to a new refrigerator. My issue is if KitchenAid cannot get parts, then they shouldnt be in the appliance business. So much for the warranty, its not worth the paper its written on. I only wish I would have read all of these other complaints prior to buying their products. Did this happen after Whirlpool bought them out or has it always been this bad? I have never had a problem with refrigerator, even the old secondhand ones always work. Any suggestions how to proceed? It looks to me like my experience doesnt even rate as a horror story compared to what I have read on this site.

We have a KitchenAid Double Wall Oven purchased at Sears in 2001. Just now, fully out of the ten year warranty. Its model no. YKEBSDB3 and serial no. YK210XXXX.This unit has been nothing but trouble since we got it and we are at the point of replacing it. In Canada, this unit sells for over $3500.00. I never even thought to check consumer reports before we bought because I knew (ha!) that KitchenAid appliances were the top of the line, had an excellent reputation, and felt so lucky that I could financially buy such an excellent set of ovens for the first time in my life. Boy was I ever wrong.I wont go through the litany of issues we have had but they are similar to the rest of the complaints and issues stated previously. We had a Warranty with Sears which has now run out. I have to say the serviceman who does the warranty work for Sears was wonderful and I have no issues with him but, he also disclosed problems with several similar ovens. One easy fix: we have had issues with the door hinges/springs deteriorating and the doors not fully closing, hence the oven not warming. A quick fix is to buy two approximately 1 diameter rare earth magnets and place them on the sides of the door about 3 down from the top so as not to affect the electronic panel. They will keep your door tightly closed.I too, would join in any class action suit against KitchenAid/Whirlpool and will continue to badmouth the company at every opportunity until they had the decency to admit publicly that there are problems with these ovens and offer to repair them free of charge. Thanks for the platform to speak up.

The brand new, top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher I recently purchased leaked the second time I used it and ruined my hardwood floor. It has been a nightmare dealing with Sears, where it was purchased, their insurance company, and KitchenAid. I have been waiting six weeks so far for KitchenAid to respond to the insurance company. That is a long time to be without a dishwasher! KitchenAid customer service has been useless. All I can say is I will never purchase any otherKitchenAid or Whirlpool product. I guess customer satisfaction is no longer important. I wish I had purchased another Maytag!

On November 11, 2016, we purchased all new KitchenAid kitchen appliances (nearly $10,000) from a local reputable appliance dealer. On December 27, 2016, we took delivery of the new appliances, and after cabinet modifications, the fridge (Model KRFC704FSS) was installed and working by the second week in January 2017. Near the end of May 2017, we started to notice reduced cooling and slow ice making in the fridge, and arranged for a service call. The service rep came out June 19, 2017, and concluded the main control board needed to be replaced. One problem, since this was a new model/design parts were not available, and we did not know when the parts would be made available! After being without a fridge for weeks and many phone calls, the parts were finally overnighted, and the main control board was replaced. This appeared to fix the problem for several months until just recently over the holidays.Keep in mind, we spent nearly $3500 for this fridge with LED lighting, wood serving tray, digital controls, etc., and absolutely love the looks, style, and functionality of it; However, we are now experiencing the same problem as before (not cooling and slow ice production), and again set up for a service call on January 3, 2018. The service tech came out and after running a few codes and consulting by phone with the Whirlpool/KitchenAid service repair team, spent nearly 3 hours completely disassembling the inside of the fridge to defrost the condenser cooling coils and reassemble the fridge. He indicated this should last for a several weeks, but also indicated the ultimate fix would have to wait until he returned to apply a silicon caulk along the exterior seam between the outer stainless-steel skin and interior plastic shell. Since he did not have the right color of caulk, he needed to order it from Whirlpool/KitchenAid, which should arrive in a few weeks. Since we had the initial problem under the original warranty, we elected to purchase the extended manufacturer’s warranty service plan (3-years); so, this activity was being covered (i.e., no out of pocket). After conducting some research (like Anthony), we discovered this same fridge model and problem is documented across the internet. The model had already been redesigned (less than a year in production). Giving this some thought, and not liking the direction the repair was heading, we decided to start working with Whirlpool/KitchenAid directly to resolve my concern. Here is where it gets very interesting.Initially, we went to the KitchenAid website and followed directions for a customer concern by sending an email to NAR Customer Solutions @KitchenAid.com. On 1/3/18, Lisha called and left a voicemail and requested a callback to 1-800-331-2689 and mention Ref # **. After about 40 minutes of hold, we talked with someone in Michigan (MI) who wanted to know if we used social media (?). We informed him no, that we just sent an email to NAR. Wrong department… He sent us to Kimberly in MI. When she realized we were on an extended service plan, again wrong department, and was told to call 1-866-265-2082. After about 30 minutes of hold, we get Ashley in Tennessee, we believe with AIG (the extended service plan underwriter). Then, we’re forwarded to Amber at 1-800-253-1301 and told to mention Ref #**. After going thru the whole spiel again with her, we’re told to talk to her supervisor Marisa (?). She informs us there is nothing flawed with this fridge, and we must go the repair route. Not liking the fix for the fridge, we persisted to pursue a replacement that would work without a modification of additional caulking. We called again and talked with Katrina in MI with KitchenAid, who understood our concern that the repair was being made outside of the service contract by making an addition or modification using caulk and not repairing with new or refurbished parts, but she had to discuss with the service rep to confirm that was the fix. The next day she called back and left me a voicemail and requested I call back to 1-866-640-7146 and ask for her or Aleah. Unfortunately, this was not a direct line (as she indicated), and we were sent thru the same calling tree, recordings, on-hold, transfers, etc., again as previously mentioned.Long story short, we finally gone thru to an Andrew in TN; then an Erin in TN; then her supervisor Katzman; and finally, the “Resolution Manager” in MI (?), Gabby (ext. **). This appeared to be where the buck stopped. She insisted that by adding the caulk, this was a fix under the extended contract (using new parts) because the caulk had a Whirlpool part # (even though caulk was not intended or initially installed there). We expressed our concern that the remedy to add a bead of caulk sealant to the exterior joint between the stainless steel shell and interior plastic was not a “repair” using “new or refurbished parts”, and that it was an “addition or modification”, and only appeared to be a “band-aid” fix for the poor design of air flow that was changed on this model of fridge within a year… She disagreed. After spending about a half-hour on the phone with this manager, we were at the end of our rope. She thanked us for our time and mentioned she would document in our file our dissatisfaction with the proposed remedy to fix our fridge. In summary, if Whirlpool/KitchenAid were to admit and own up to this poor design flaw having subsequent failures, they’d be needing to recall and replace several units; hence, the reason for what we have gone thru and “contract misinterpretation” push back. We will proceed with the current fix, and tolerate at least 3 more repair visits over the next 3-years until the “No Lemon Guarantee” stipulation as provided in the KitchenAid Service Plan kicks in. Unless a class action lawsuit is initiated. Stand-by to see how that goes!

We wanted top of the line appliances to last through our retirement in our new home. We purchased KitchenAid. Our freezer stopped freezing and when we called for repair they said that even though a ten year warranty existed for major parts, it could not be repaired. We are disappointed at the results that we have received from KitchenAid for they wanted to send yet one more repairman, who would charge us an unreasonable amount and we would need to pay for repairs if they could be made. Retired persons need to believe that they can depend on purchases to last.

Very well made microwave. Love that it matches the other appliances. It has so many features! From melting butter to baking a pizza on the pan that is included with the microwave. No problems as of yet in the 3 years we have had the microwave. It is stainless steel and looks pretty. The only slight improvement I would make, is it would be nice to have a flatter looking front. It reminds me of a spaceship with the way it bows out from the door front. But I do like that underneath it is angled up towards the front, so it allows for more working space on the stove top that it sits over. Over all I am really pleased with the purchase.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

This refrigerator is barely 2 years old. The lights began to fail after the first year and am told are not covered by the original warranty. Service just left and stated how ridiculously expensive the parts. We need a power supply board $387. And he may have to replace some or all of the LEDs at $77 each. This is absolutely ridiculous. It seems to be a common problem with LEDs in a cold environment. We could be looking at a bill of over $1000 for lighting on a $2,500 2 to refrigerator.

I have a Superba Gas range. Im not sure how old it is since it came with the house. But we have spent hundreds of dollars in repairs. It started with the self clean option. It didnt blow out our panel, but warped, or melted some of the frame, and other moving parts. We have never been able to keep our oven door shut properly ever since. After calling the repair guy, he says the oven door hinges needed replacing. Expensive, but okay we did it. About 6 months later, the same thing happened. We needed to use a step ladder pushed against the door to keep it shut while cooking. About 2 months after that, the panel blew. Another expensive repair. One year later, our broiler no longer works, the door, is literally falling apart, and although the rest of it works, there are no lights on our panel, timer doesnt work, clock is off, cant even see what the temp is.At this point we are just letting it die instead of fixing it. Especially when the repair guy (after 3 visits about the ajar door) said he just doesnt know what else to do. After reading several forums, I have to say that the self clean function is the worst enemy of any oven, and it should be removed. Hide all the elements to make it easy to clean with soap and water, and thats good for me. There is no point in having the technology, if they cant see how it negatively affects and breaks the rest of the oven.

After researching many brands we decided to go with a friend’s recommendation for a KitchenAid gas range. After owning it for a few months now we’re very disappointed with the wear & tear. It was delivered with the side dented, which given our timely need, we decided to live with as it’s mostly hidden. We have found however that cleaning the stove top is very difficult (heavy pieces to remove and place back) and the stainless steel surface scratches and scuffs way too easily. If you’re a tidy person like me this will drive you nuts so proceed carefully with this one! After a few months it’s already starting to look worn in.

It took 3 months to get the parts and the service completed. Within 2 weeks I am having the same problems - water dispenser does not display the correct amount of water being dispensed (if you are measuring your water intake this is a good feature to have) and the ice maker does not make enough ice to serve 6 people within a 3-hour period. Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator Model #KBFS22EWMS7 in November, 2012 along with a 4 yr extended warranty with a price of $1800. The first week in October 2013, there was a big pool of water on the floor near the refrigerator. Pulled out the fridge thinking a hose had been punctured or a connection was loose. But no, that was not the case. All connections on the back of the fridge were dry. Husband checked more thoroughly and could not find where the leak was coming from. Called the customer service number on the refrigerator user instructions and they set up an appointment with a service person. The service person came out on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, checked all connections and pulled off panels and checked the back and could not find where the water was leaking. He confirmed there is a leak by seeing all the water on the floor, which looks like had been leaking for a while after seeing the edge of the wall with water damage and mold. But he could not find it and could not tell where it was coming from. So he gave my husband a homework assignment to somehow keep a watch underneath the fridge to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. How about that for customer service!!!! Now after seeing all the similar complaints and issues with KitchenAid, I am so afraid that we are in store for a nightmare of our own!!!! Our current plan is to put some type of rubber mat on the floor underneath the fridge and somehow jack up the fridge a little to be able to see underneath to watch for the leak. This is very frustrating and wish now that I had gone with Maytag!!!!

We were newly married and wanted appliances that would last for our new family. I had always thought that KitchenAid was top of the line and it would be worth the money. Boy was I wrong! We completely furnished our house with stainless KitchenAid appliances and had problems with the fridge before we made our first payment. The Homecenter said they that they would get it fixed but before they got there to fix the fridge, the range quit working. They sent a service tech that I swear served me my Big Mac at McDonalds the day before. He worked on the appliances and damaged one in the meantime but denied it. The fridge continued to leak water and the dishwasher then also started to leak and get much louder with every wash. They brought me a new fridge that leaked worse than the one before so we resorted to just shutting the water off to the fridge. These problems persisted with the three appliances and I should have been more persistent but I was trying to be nice. As soon as my 1 year warranty was up, the store would no longer talk to me and since then, our microwave starts and runs on its own (fire hazard). The only way to shut it down is to unplug it. The Homecenter and KitchenAid dont care about the consumer or there safety. We have put many calls in with no success. We have started to replace appliances with cheap China made ones that work great as we get the KitchenAid ones paid off. What really bites is we have to pay to get rid of the KitchenAid ones. So the best I can do is to advertise against KitchenAid as often as I can.

We bought this refrigerator from our builder, Pulte Homes in 08/2017. It is model number KRFC604FSS00. Do not buy this or any other Kitchen Aid product. Every single person in our development is having the same problems with their ice makers. Kitchen Aid is owned by Whirlpool. They put you on hold for 45 minutes before they pick up the phone to schedule a warranty person to come out. The service company that they used had to ask me how to turn the ice maker on and off. They are completely inept, its been over a month with a broken product and Whirlpool could care less. I too experienced the dishwasher top rack roller failure. The top rack rollers are secured by (2) cheap very thin plastic spreader clips. These clips are approximately 3/16 wide by 1/16 thick. If just one of these cheap clips breaks - the roller wheel will separate causing the rack to collapse along with progressive failure of the adjoining roller wheel clips. This deliberate design and manufacturing defect by KitchenAid is an obvious attempt at planned obsolesce. This once celebrated company is no longer interested in producing durable quality products. Avoid the purchase of all KitchenAid dishwashers!

We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDS30IXSS4) about 3 1/2 years ago when we remodeled the kitchen. The plastic clips that held the upper rack in place broke 2 different times... This was shortly after the warranty expired so I paid both times for the repair. KitchenAid did finally replace this plastic clip with a metal clip on all of their dishwashers but they called it an upgrade and not a recall so they did not reimburse me for the almost $300.00 I had spent on previously repairing the faulty clips. Shortly after the plastic clips had broken the second time the dishwasher made a funny noise. I shut the washer off and then restarted it... Upon restarting it...it seemed fine... However, shortly after this it stopped cleaning the dishes...This was right in the interim when KitchenAid replaced the plastic clip and went to the metal. What we did not realize is that pieces of the broken plastic went down into the chopper/grinder and broke that section of the dishwasher. When the repair man finally realized what had happened we called KitchenAid. I asked KitchenAid to step up and take responsibility for the faulty design and they declined saying that there was not enough evidence/proof that it was faulty design. Needless to say I will never purchase another KitchenAid/Whirlpool product only because they will not step up and take responsibility for their product. Final note...this new repair will cost another $300.00.

We bought all new Kitchen Aid top of the line appliances. Before year was up replaced 2 circuit boards in fridge. 1 in stove and dishwasher does not dry and leave a purple film in dishwasher. Have to bleach weekly. Now the microwave has broken for the 3rd time. Started with “close door” then no light, now absolutely no power. Blacked out. Absolutely disgusted with these appliances. Over 10g wasted. DO NOT recommend kitchen aid. Do your homework. Don’t waste your money.

I purchased the top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher 2 years ago, paid over $900. I bought the extended warranty and it broke within first 2 years. Turns out there are no parts for the repairs. National back order. This is a new appliance. I paid $250 for the extended warranty only to get a buyout of $573. I am now without a dishwasher and out over $600. My other rant is that they are now going to throw this thing in a dump. What is their carbon footprint? I have never been so dissatisfied with an appliance in my life! KitchenAid can kiss my ass!

I never had a dirty dish come out of it; provided you used the jet dry. No matter what I threw at it, they came out clean and spotless. The controls were on the top edge of the door so hidden during use and programmed before closing the door. The dishwasher ran whisper quiet and had multiple cleaning cycles; including pot scrubber. It should also be noted that the heater in this unit heats everything to the point of sterilization. You can actually smell the clean when the dishes come out. This dishwasher had the adjustable top rack so cleaning large items in the bottom was very easing. It also had extra large capacity so it took a lot of dishes to fill it. Stainless steel, and hidden controls were very nice. The large, rounded, stainless door handle was the only protrusion from under the counter so it blended well into the cabinetry. Kitchenaid 24-inch Stainless Steel with Proscrub. It came with the standard warranty and I paid to extend it an additional 2 years. It also came with a nicely written owners manual which was clear and concise on the operations.

I purchased a KitchenAid Model KUDS301XBLO from Best Buy 2 years ago this month. The first week I had to call KitchenAid concerning the fact that the dishwasher did not get my dishes clean. Stuck on food on dishes and silverware and cloudy glassware. They sent a repairman out and he said there was nothing wrong, it must be my water or the temperature setting on the hot water heater. He checked and said the temp was correct and he couldnt find anything wrong. The next week I called KitchenAid again and reported the same problem. Another repair service was sent and he could not find anything wrong either (other than the dishes were dirty). They both suggested a multitude of things to try, i.e.,Use of different product (used Cascade), adding Lemi Shine, make sure to use Jet-dry, etc, etc, all of which I was using anyway. The first guy said pre-wash the dishes before placing them in dishwasher. The 2nd guy said never pre-wash the dishes, always leave food on them because with the new machines this acted as a washing agent to get the dishes clean... Lordy, that blew my mind. I tried that and had to take all the dishes out of the dishwasher when it was complete and wash them by hand. The 2nd guy also informed me I should have never gotten rid of my 20-year-old GE, that it was a superior product (it worked fine, just was very noisy). I emailed a complaint to KitchenAid and several weeks after the complaint I had a call while I was not at home, from some lady who left a message. I tried to call her back and got her voicemail and left a message for her to return the call. Never heard from her. The 2nd repairman gave me a bill for services and I refused to pay it, so thats when I emailed the company. As far as I am concerned, I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.

When my wife and I decided to do a complete kitchen renovation some six yea
When my wife and I decided to do a complete kitchen renovation some six years ago, we chose to install all major Kitchen Aid appliances based in large measure on their corporate slogan For the way its made. Since then, one of the two hinges securing the top of the deli drawer compartment in the fridge (KBFS20ETSS) had broken off. Because of the high price we were quoted for what is simply a cheap molded piece of plastic, we chose to forgo that replacement. Next, the ice cube maker became jammed requiring a service call that cost us $64.20 to repair. Then, several months ago, we saw that the soap dispenser door on the dishwasher (KUDT03FTSS) was apparently opening after the wash cycle was completed leaving the detergent packs that we use lying unopened at the bottom the washer. The result of course, was dirty, unwashed dishes. When a local repair service that I called in advised me (at a service call cost of $80.25) that the problem was likely due to a module failure, I was directed to a Kitchen Aid-authorized service facility, Alliance Appliance of Brick NJ. Between their initial diagnostic service call and subsequent repair, I was billed $405.10.Less than a month later, the same problem occurred once again, and again Alliance was called in. This time, we were told that a new dispenser assembly was needed and would be ordered by them. Having not heard from Alliance in weeks, I phoned them this morning for a parts status update. I was told that the part had never been ordered pending my authorization to pay yet another $60. I was never advised of this charge and apparently would have never been notified of the status had I not called. Frustrated and angry, I declined to pay any additional charge. This history of problems was sent to KitchenAids correspondence team on 10/17/14. On 10/28 I received a voicemail message from the company in response to my letter. The following day I called the number that was left thinking that it would be a direct line to the person that had left the message. Instead, the 800 number that I was given was a general one that had me waste yet time sifting through the usual menu of prompts and questions before I was able to finally connect to a live person who voiced her concern for my problems but refused to do anything about them other than to contact the factory authorized repair service I had used to relate my dissatisfaction. In total, service on the $5,000.+ we paid for our Kitchen Aid products has thus far come to just shy of $550. Not factoring in the time spent on the phone and waiting for scheduled appointments to show up. I think youd agree that having to spend this amount of time and money on Kitchen Aid appliance repairs makes a mockery of the companys slogan.

I am deeply disappointed with KitchenAid, an appliance manufacturer whom I thought built high quality, reliable products and who stood behind their products. I have a model KSSSC48QMS03 refrigerator that constantly runs with 1 second pauses and pinging noise. Technician diagnosed as faulty Gemini board 2307028 (W10219463). I cannot believe that Kitchen Aid does not provide repair part 2307028 (W10219463)! My home is only 8 years old and a showcase of high-end KitchenAid built-in stainless steel appliances; 48 wide refrigerator, microwave, warming drawer, double drawer dishwasher and gas stove with steamer. This Gemini Electronic Control is for the refrigerator (and, according to the service technician, in the stove as well). There are all kinds of complaints on the internet about KA refrigerators running continuously with a sonar-like pinging noise diagnosed as this faulty board. It is unbelievable that I have a $9K refrigerator for which KA will not provide a replacement part. According to the KA recommended service company, the only solution is to send the board off to a refurbisher. I dont like to buy parts from someone that is not supported by the manufacturer. Not that they may not do a good job, but that its not a new part, factory tested with manufacturer warranty. If this is what I can expect from KA, then as these appliances need to be replaced, I will change to a manufacturer who supports their products. Unbelievable, KitchenAid (Whirlpool)! This is probably a $50 part to manufacture that they could sell easily for $300. How can they anger so many customers? One comment said that KA told them this was due to the Tsunami in Japan that wiped out the plant. We had a plant affected as well at my company and its not hard to take the design to another manufacturing location.

This dishwasher (KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDSO1FLSS6) is seven years old and I have spent more money than the dishwasher is worth. I wish that years ago I would have just bought a new and different brand dishwasher. The control panel has broken several times, the motor stopped working, the plastic utensil holders have melted and my dishwasher is not working again. I just had the panel replaced for close to $300 in February 2012 and the dishwasher does not turn on again! I also find that customer service is awful. I am waiting to hear a response from a representative but I wont sit by the computer. Another reason not to purchase a Kitchen Aid appliance is they use A&E Factory Service and they never show up. I think they are worse than KitchenAid. I had to have my refrigerator replaced several years ago because of a part flaw. I am done with KitchenAid products.

I went to Sears and the one they stated was the same one was on sale for total of $484.49, so I ordered it and a week later it was installed. With just the two of us, we barely used it. Three weeks later while doing a baked potato in it on sense position, it caught on fire melting the plastic inside. They came out and stated it wasnt repairable so now they would only give a replacement value of the $484.49, so I had to add money to it just to get another microwave. Only this time I bought a GE. It should be here on Saturday and I hope it lasts longer then the KitchenAid did. Do not buy KitchenAid KHMS 2040, it will catch on fire.

We called to have it serviced, but the repairman could not find the problem. The error had disappeared! It is now May, the warranty has expired, and the oven is beeping non-stop at all hours of the night and intermittently throughout the day. When it is experiencing this problem, none of the keys on the keypad work. I thought KitchenAid made a quality product, but this is not the case. Very disappointed that such an expensive product could cost us this much trouble and sleepless nights. Its a holiday weekend, and no one at KitchenAid can be reached. Operationally this is a nice-looking, relatively quiet, efficient machine with multiple modes of operation. Where it falls from grace is the isolation of the top/hidden electronics from the moisture of a functioning dishwasher. The replacement by the owner is not out of the question, but most users wont do this. The main control board can be replaced by unplugging a socket after the front of the machine is removed. One other drawback is the spring and cord mechanism that balances the weight of the door, it can break more than once in a 20-year operating lifetime. On the good side this unit is still working after 20 years whereas many others are broken and replaced. The motor, pump and dish/silver racks are all working and in good condition. The inside and outside stainless is fully functional and easily cleaned.

Purchased a $7000 Kitchen Aid refrigerator 6 years ago (KSSO48FTX02) at the suggestion of the salesman at JC Perreault in Montreal. Thankfully our $25,000 purchase of appliances did not include any other Kitchen Aid products as my recent problem has been nothing short of a customer service nightmare. Our refrigerator, which other than a constant noise problem, had been relatively reliable. Last month, a constant beeping sound and on/off of a motor was observed. In addition the control panel lights were constantly flashing whenever the door was opened. For 3 days - getting through the 800 number was impossible - so I was forced to call an outside tech. Upon hearing of the problem he informed me that there was a 90% chance the motherboard was fried. I told him to come over anyhow and in 5 minutes of pressing buttons he confirmed it - AND that the replacement part was DISCONTINUED by Kitchen Aid because of the Tsunami in Japan 5 years ago! The only fix would be a black market repair and it would cost me $2000, and it might not even work! When I finally got through to customer service at KA, they confirmed that the part was no longer being made and they suggested I check out Ebay or Amazon for replacements! The nightmare continues as I try to decide whether or not to cut my losses and buy a new fridge - and remodel my kitchen in the process since this one was built-in. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANY PRODUCT MADE BY KITCHEN AID, or Whirlpool or Jenn-air.

I purchased the KitchenAid Gas/Convection Range with AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology. To put it simply - it does not work. It requires you to pour 1 3/4 filtered water on to the bottom of the range after you remove all racks. Click clean button and poof, in 40 minutes your oven is clean...NOT! I am not a cook. I purchased this oven almost 2 years ago. Ive used it less than 10 times. Mostly for holiday dinners. It just is not that dirty. Tried the self-cleaning feature twice. No difference. It just does not work. I am currently also questioning whether the oven is really working well at all. It takes forever to preheat and lately, more time than usual to cook food. I called customer service as I purchased an extended warranty. They wont come out until I troubleshoot all issues. Their recommendation was to unplug the oven and wait 30 minutes before plugging it back in - to reset the oven. Try cooking something and see if that solves the problem. Havent done that yet at the time of this review, however, I think this is an oven I would avoid purchasing. I know Im going to have to end up scrubbing the inside myself and be forced to use the recommended cleaners and tools or risk forfeiting the warranty. It is a great looking oven. It was recommended to me when I was looking to purchase all new kitchen appliances after a total kitchen reno. I just have a bad feeling about this appliance. Cant imagine what others with families and those that use this oven often are going through regarding the ability to clean it. This AquaLift, low-heat technology DOES NOT WORK.

I have a Kitchen Aid double oven, which is 2 years old. During the self-cleaning cycle, the glass door exploded, and glass covered the kitchen floor, and was in all vents. Just hours earlier, my 2 year old grandson was playing on the floor in the kitchen. I immediately checked online, to see if anyone had experienced the same thing, and found that I was not the only one. I called Kitchen Aid to see if they would help me with the repair, since I felt it was a safety issue, and Kitchen Aid should stand behind their products. The customer service representative informed me the company felt this was not a safety issue, and that no one had complained about this before. Kitchen Aid is not being honest with the consumers, and should be held accountable. It has been two weeks, and I am still attempting to find someone qualified who can do the repair. Will it take someones child or grandchild, sustaining critical injury, to mandate Kitchen Aid to redesign their oven doors? Is there any redress for the consumer?

Purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for a kitchen remodel. The dishwasher overheated in less than a year. A service repairman from the manufacturer replaced the control panel. It worked fine until it was 2 years old. Then it stopped cleaning. I tried working with my extended warranty at this point. One repairman said it needed spot remover (which I had only recently run out of). I disagreed, as the dishes were greasy with food particles left on them. A 2nd repairman replaced the control panel. Still had dirty dishes. They replaced with new control panel. Still had dirty dishes. Then the pump stopped working and you couldnt turn the dishwasher on or drain the water. At this point I had been without a dishwasher for 2 months & was tired of service calls with no results and hand washing all my dishes. The store where I bought it wouldnt replace the appliance & said it was up to the appliance repair to say it was broken...& couldnt be fixed. The appliance repair said that it was up to KitchenAid customer service to make that decision. Customer service said that the appliance repair had to document that enough repairs had been made that it would be cheaper to replace. The appliance people wouldnt do that. I called back the store, the appliance people & the warranty company & tried to get them to work together... with no resolution & ended up buying a new dishwasher...different brand, of course. I wouldnt leave a bad review for KitchenAid, but this dishwasher cost me $800 and a $2,000 KitchenAid refrigerator purchased at the same time has been leaking since it was a few months old. Ive had it 5 years...still leaks & getting the same run around with the store, Kitchen Aid customer service and the extended warranty. No one will take responsibility for their poor products. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in September of 2010. The purchase price with installation and taxes $800.29. A service call was made March of 2013 with a broken latch. In 2015 the same problem occurred. This year 2016 in September the latch broke again and now its two months later and the panel of the whole electrical circuit board does not work. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product. I actually have never gone online and made a statement as far as dissatisfaction with an appliance. It seems like to me that not only are products made to break with being told I should have purchase an extended warranty which from many of the reviews is an additional waste of money. I wish I had looked at more reviews prior to purchasing the product. Dishwasher model number is kuds30ixbl. I was upgrading appliances and wanted a nicer product. I will never recommend a KitchenAid appliance again. When I spoke with people on the phone it was very dissatisfied. Basically Ill have to say that most companies are no longer concerned with customer service. I plan to look for the cheapest dishwasher I can find with as few electronics and things to break as possible.

I bought a Kitchenaid dish washer (KUDS30IXSS8) based on my experience of decades of reliable, high quality product ownership. If you are reading this, you already know what a complete piece of junk your dish washer is because youre once again repairing the thing. My upper dish rack height adjustment mechanism self destructed after only one year, sending small pieces of plastic into the water flow. Of course they ended up in the food chopper and thus, trashed the blade and plastic shaft assembly. Whirlpool refused to send the part, even though the flawed design from the rack mount is what caused the damaged. They wanted to order a service call, at my expense, or they offered me an extended service plan for $270. The part only cost around $12 from from Amazon. There was plenty of how-to videos on the web to show you how to fix the part, so I opted to fix it myself. The new part looks exactly the same with no structural improvements so Whirlpool continues to put out inferior parts to go perfectly with their inferior products.

We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher model # KUDS301XSS in February 2012. We previously owned a KitchenAid for 18 years and NEVER ever had a service call on it! Now this new one is less than 2 years old and the rollers on the top rack have broken (they are plastic). Then when I set the buttons to run the washer, it would act like it was going to start, then cancel and drain! Found out today from the repairman that this is a common problem. The pump is out! Says this happens frequently usually within the first 5 years! Thankfully I did purchase the extended warranty but on a dishwasher that cost nearly $1,000 one should not have to! I will NEVER purchase a KitchenAid again! Also, bought KitchenAid Refrigerator a year ago. And have already had to replace the ice maker and had a service call about a leak in one of the hoses! So disappointing!

We are in a new condo and wanted our new refrigerator to be counter depth. I always thought of KitchenAid as a high end brand than other manufacturers and they made a counter depth stainless steel refrigerator. The cost was a lot more but we thought we would get a quality product. In less than 3 months outside water dispenser came on each time we used the ice maker. The outside water ran for a short time each time. Because of the worldwide Corona virus we were not willing to call a repair person to come into our home. Each time the water would run down the front of the stainless steel refrigerator and I would wipe it up. In spite of polishing it the stainless steel door on the freezer side became stained with watermarks. Over a couple of months of polishing the the stainless discolored looks rusty.a It is not yet a year old.We called a repair person three weeks ago and we are being told the ice maker will be replaced under warranty. I plan to contact the store we bought this and ask for the front doors to be replaced or the refrigerator to be replaced. We live in Mexico and bought this at a well established store with a great reputation. Friends of ours bought a different brand refrigerator and the stainless steel is much heavier and a better quality. I have also compared the stainless on the front of other refrigerator manufacturers and many are more superior to the KitchenAid. What has happened to the KitchenAid brand? If I could rate my experience lower than one star I would. BUYERS DO YOUR HOMEWORK. ITS NOT WORTH BUYING A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR.

Bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher at a cost of almost 1600.00. The very first time I used it, it leaked large amounts of water onto my new hardwood floor. It arrived with a dent in the front panel. KitchenAid refuses to replace the dishwasher even though it is within their 1-year warranty period. They want to send a new tub then have the repair technician disassemble this one and rebuild it from the old and new parts. And, because we didnt install it within 30 days of purchase (because our kitchen reno took longer than expected), their cosmetic warranty has expired and they wont replace the door without a charge to me. The dent in the door seems to indicate damage to the unit before I ever received it. The leak of this brand new dishwasher is in no way my fault yet they refuse to replace the unit. If I had known this was their policy, I would have NEVER purchased a KitchenAid. I have a Samsung refrigerator. The delivery people scratched the outside cabinet - Samsung replaced the entire refrigerator with a new one. It appears that when it comes to KitchenAid, buying American is not the prudent thing to do.

Bought my KitchenAid dishwasher just over two years ago. Last week ago the top rack crashed down into the bottom rack. They were both full of dishes, lots of broken glass. Long story short, glass bits ended up in the motor costing me nearly 400 dollars to replace. The good news is that after I told the phone rep that I had owned only KitchenAid dishwashers for nearly 30 years and was disappointed in how this one had failed, she got them to mail me a set of adjusters for free. If only she had gotten an authorization for the repairman to install a set, he could have taken care of the problem while he was here. I am still waiting for the adjusters to arrive in the mail, then I have to install them. Whirlpool should just admit they screwed up and take care of this problem.

3 years ago we bought a new KitchenAid energy star KUDC101XSS. It has never worked properly ..The washer completes its cycle only 1 time out of 10. The 1st month that we owned it, Sears Appliance Repair came to fix the problem. Completed the cycle a few times and then back to cutting off mid cycle. Repair call #2: same result. Finally, a new Mother Board was installed. Even with a new control board (new brains) the machine continues to cut off before the soap has dissolved. We then signed up for the extended warranty and when the repairman came out again the $$$ coverage of our contract was used up. For 3 years, weve have to hit the resume button several times during the cycle or cancel/drain and then restart the cycle. It still will not complete the cycle and never dries the dishes. Recently, Sears had the nerve to call to renew our extended warranty. We have decided that when it completely stops operating, well just throw it off the back and watch it roll down our back hillside. If a class action lawsuit is ever begun against KitchenAid, we will certainly join the ranks.

This is Kitchenaid model KEBC247VSS02. The problem is common among ALL kitchenaid wall ovens. When using the self-cleaning mode, the oven apparently overheats resulting in a thermal fuse to blow. The oven shuts down completely, the door is locked and the oven cannot be used. Thanks to Youtube, the repair is relatively simple, although the entire double oven must be removed from the wall to replace the fuse. Appliance repair is a minimum of $200- 250. EVERY time the self-clean is used, the fuse blows. Therefore, self-clean CAN NOT be used. Terrible design and useless self-cleaning.

In 2006, we remodeled our kitchen, and in that process invested in Kitchen Aid appliances, including a side by side built-in stainless steel refrigerator. On August 11, 2014, the refrigerator stopped cooling, and we were told that the main control board needed to be replaced, and so the odyssey began. At the beginning of this ordeal, we were told that the part in question was ordered, was then on back-order, and would be shipped to our home in about three weeks. After three weeks, however, we were then told that the part was no longer manufactured because the factory was destroyed by a Tsunami two years ago! We acted on the corporations advice to send the defective board to Core Centric, which until very recently, Whirlpool was recommending to its customers in our same situation. Core Centric could not repair it, and we then sent the board to a company in Texas, also to no avail. The appliance repairman that we have been dealing with then ordered the part from Amazon/Sears, paid for it, waited two weeks for delivery, and when he contacted Sears, was told that the order was cancelled. After calling Whirlpool again, I was told that my file would be referred to a special department for possible inclusion in their pro-rated exchange program. I was told today that such a program would be offered to us because the company is supposed to provide parts for their appliances for ten years, and our appliance is less than ten years old. How lucky I feel to find out that I can exchange my eight-year-old built-in, which we purchased because it was marketed as an appliance that you repair, not replace, for the sum of $7,204.15!!! I was told that the new purchase price for my model would be $8,299.00. After further discussion, I was then told that the lowest price I could be offered to exchange my refrigerator, that cannot be repaired because the corporation has breached their obligation to provide parts for ten years for, would be $6,000.00. I was also told by the representative that I spoke with that she hears this same story all day long from other customers. SHAME ON YOU KITCHEN AID/WHIRLPOOL!!! (As an aside, thank God that my 20 year old Kenmore refrigerator in our garage still works perfectly, because we have now been without a kitchen refrigerator for 14 weeks).

I purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher from Lowes a few years ago to replace my 14-year-old perfect Whirlpool. The KitchenAid worked well for awhile, but suddenly the entire inside tub had a film on it, and now every glass, every utensil, every plate, etc., has a white film all over. I have tried everything - changing detergents, washing every dish thoroughly before loading into dishwasher, etc. Nothing has worked. I cant even clean the film off once it is on. After reading the reviews on this site, I feel like calling KitchenAid will only frustrate and upset me. This dishwasher was expensive and it is a huge disappointment. I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator with French doors and a bottom freeze
I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator with French doors and a bottom freezer compartment for about $2,600 in July of 2013. By mid-2016, we began to experience problems with the refrigerator. There was water leaking onto the floor after water had filled the tray at the bottom of the refrigerator and had frozen. A certified KitchenAid repair person replaced the defective part. The repair person was very familiar with the problem as the company had replaced quite a number of these. KitchenAid supplied the part free of charge because of the frequency of this problem. There was a service charge of $125.00 and a labor charge of $89.00, bringing the total to $214.00. Within two months, we had another problem, this one with the ice maker. The KitchenAid recommended company sent its technician out again. This time the bill totaled $335-$125 service, $129 labor, $75 new ice maker, and $6.37 tax. We had given the service provider the exact make, model, and description of the problem. Again, they were very familiar with the problem, but sent a technician out who did not have the part on the truck! He is scheduled to return after the weekend. Frankly, after reading others reviews on this site, I have to agree that I would not buy a KitchenAid product again. Why should anybody be shelling out over $500 for parts and labor on a three year old, high end, appliance? Our last KitchenAid refrigerator, which we left at our former residence, was 17 years old and had never required service of any kind. KitchenAid is apparently not interested in providing a quality product, though were paying for one and, according to the reviews on this site, KitchenAid is not interested in providing good customer service. Im frustrated with this refrigerator, which never produced ice as well as my old KitchenAid. Im frustrated with the certified KitchenAid repair company, and Im not willing to become frustrated by contacting customer service because all these reviews have all made it clear that it would be a waste of my time.

We have had nothing but trouble with our new refrigerator (Counter depth refrigerator with French doors on top), which was delivered Aug 14th 2017. By Aug, it quit. We had to get everything out to save it, hauled it to our daughters extra refrigerator and freezer, and it took 3 1/2 wks to get it fixed. The computer board went out and of course, it had to be ordered. We didnt get our refrigerator back until sometime in Sept. Then, just before Christmas, it quit again. Finally got someone out between the holidays to take a look at it, and of course, it couldnt get fixed until the 3rd of Jan because a panel was out on the new computer board. There is a serious design problem with this refrigerator, and KitchenAid will not replace it or refund our money. Not a reputable company! Theyve cut corners on their products and are not the quality they used to be. Steer clear! We are in our 18th home and have had many refrigerators over the years. This is the worst. We purchased KitchenAid Dishwasher model #KUDS30IXSS1 approximately 3 years ago, stainless steel. Performed well the first 5 or 6 months. Has been nothing but trouble with the control panel. Fortunately while still under warranty, the recommended repair store replaced the control panel. Very touchy control panel, and not in a good way. After warranty ran out, have had the control panel replaced 2 more times. Its happened AGAIN. We cannot turn on the dishwasher. First time we bought a KitchenAid dishwasher, and will definitely be our last KitchenAid we buy for any kind of appliance. Stay away from this model!!! Considering how much it cost, very very frustrating. One day the control panel will let us turn it on, the next day not. Then it might work again the next day... Like its possessed. But has been a few days of trying the buttons off and on, and no luck with turning on. Hmm, should we pay for another control panel or just buy a new one?? Advice or recommendations?

We purchased a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher 2 years ago. In the first year, we had 4 service calls for various problems. The last problem was for poor draining and residual soap in the bottom of the unit. Things were replaced and the door was taken apart, then reassembled. The problem persisted. I went online and did my own research and found the solution. Each repair person was sure to remind me to keep the rinse agent full. Turns out that when you have a water softener, the rinse agent is unnecessary. Now the entire door is showing rashes of rust.We called today and were questioned how the door was being cleaned. It is cleaned with a weak soap solution and immediately dried with a very soft microfiber cloth. Okay, so its not a maintenance issue. It is a very low grade of stainless steel. Magnets stick in the door readily, but not on the stainless handle, which is obviously a higher quality of stainless. After speaking to a manager, we are being sent a cleaning solution and a polishing solution. Sadly, had we researched before paying so much, we would have been informed that this is a chronic problem with Kitchenaid and they refuse to acknowledge the problem, nor will they offer any satisfactory solution. This dishwasher was bought to replace a 27-year-old Kenmore unit that just wasnt getting the dishes as clean as it used to. When it was taken to the junk yard, it looked like it did the day it was bought. The stainless parts were flawless. Dont make the same mistake we did. Had to buy this refrigerator to fit into an existing built in space. The size fit perfectly. Only positive to our experience. DO NOT BUY this refrigerator for the following reasons: Installed in Jan 2016 and already had to replace icemaker, slides on bottom drawer dont work, seals on top french doors moldy, temperature not regulated in refrigerator, and freezer section froze up. Labor costs to repair is very high: quoted $340 to replace freezer drawer slides and around $100.00 each time someone comes out to check. Mold started accumulating on refrigerator seals. Noticed some small rust spots on the freezer door (exterior) that I could not remove. We do not overload either freezer or refrigerator and we vacuum out coils regularly. Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a 42 inch Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model kssc42qmS01 for about $5500. Seven years later, it required a rebuild of the circuit board for about $400. Last month the overtemp warning light was coming on for both the freezer and refrigerator. The authorized repair guy and Kitchen Aid said they could not fix the board due to the Tsunami in Japan. This excuse does not hold water since there are several after market repair shops that fix these boards daily. Just Google Kitchen Aid Control Board and you will find an entire market place of repair shops and used boards. (They all love Kitchen Aid!) If you read the detailed accounts of other pissed off homeowners who got stuck with a large piece of unserviceable junk in their kitchen read on from this website. My favorite is the guy who fixed his own control card for $6. Blaming a Tsunami is a convenient excuse to not fix or service these refrigerators because of underlying design flaws. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fix my board a second time despite the $500 in service calls and emergency repairs. The refrigerator still cant maintain its temperature. Kitchen Aid says theres nothing they can do except offer me a special price which is not better that a good Internet price from an online deep discounter. Keep in mind that this is a built in in a custom kitchen. (The Kitchen was featured in a local Milwaukee Magazine) I cant just rip this 42 inch built in out and put in a stand alone refrigerator because there would be a large gap in the 42 inch cavity not to mention a 3 inch projection even with a counter depth unit. And why would I buy another Kitchen Aid / GE built in when they walk away from their own product? My advise is to stay away from Kitchen Aid / GE built-ins.

Shortly after it was installed, we discovered that the handle was improperly attached and one end stuck out, catching on clothes and tearing them. KitchenAid informed me, That was just the way it was on some units. I found that unsatisfactory, so they sent a technician out who basically did nothing. I called the retailer, who replaced the unit completely with a new dishwasher within a couple of weeks. The new unit was installed in January, 2014. It came with a one year manufacturers warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty good through 2019. Since we are at our second home much of the time, and use this dishwasher twice weekly on average, we thought we would be safe with the new unit, which had a properly installed handle, by the way. No such luck. Shortly before Thanksgiving, 2015, while the unit was less than two years old, the top pull-out drawer fell down, landing on the dishes below. We removed the top drawer/pull out unit, and tried running it without the top drawer, but no luck. The unit would not operate without the top drawer. I called the warranty company, Bankers Insurance. They dont cover mechanical parts, I was told. So I called KitchenAid, and the wait was so long I was directed to their website, where I was instructed to enter my zip code to find a service technician. So I did, and the results? NO SERVICE in my area... impossible to believe, with over a million people in my greater metro area! Nonetheless, I contacted the retailer, who gave me the name of a service company. Their technician came out today, took one look, and said that the problem was a repetitive one, a defective part that KitchenAid was replacing with metal parts. No more plastic -- they had so many issues with this part that they were in most cases repairing the defective parts at no charge. That of course, was not my luck when I called KitchenAid. Nope, no replacement. We are not showing any problems with that model! Exact words. Not their problem! But they would be happy to direct my call to the parts department where I could order the parts, and pay for them, of course. I spent over a thousand dollars on this dishwasher, it gets light use, is less than two years old, and it wont run without a cheap plastic pull out part that will cost me well in excess of $200 to replace, because they only sell the entire mechanism. My biggest regret? I specified KitchenAid for my dishwasher in my second home. Trust me, they are not what they used to be, nor is their customer service department.

Ok, here we go! I am writing this review in the midst of having to repair an only 2-year old KitchenAid KRFF507ESS01 refrigerator. I wish I had seen these consumer report reviews prior to purchase!! Please take my review seriously so that I can prevent someone else from making the same mistake!! The major issues started about 3 months ago!! First, we noticed a noise (maybe fan) coming from back of fridge... louder at some times than others. I also didn’t realize at time that water leaking from ice dispenser when in use had preceded the noise! I just previously ‘chalked’ that issue up because it didn’t occur all the time! After about a couple of weeks of the noise getting louder and softer, it went away! The bigger issue a couple of weeks later became that the fridge was not cooling properly... Supposed to be 37* in fridge. And at this point the ice maker was not working well; making a handful of ice cubes that were not fully formed! My husband and I ran through the manuals extensive list of troubleshooting advice but could not find the issue! We cleaned the front vent from dust thinking this may be the cause... This seemed to resolved issue or so we thought!! 2 days later the fridge and ice maker were malfunctioning again with same issues except the noise!! I also purchased a thermometer for fridge and freezer to see what internal temps were... 50* in fridge and 30* in freezer! I purchased these because there is no other way that fridge indicates internal temps??? Only set temperature is accessible from LCD panel!I called a repairman who walked in and immediately knowing the (common) issue from a bottom freezer fridge, pulled out the deli drawer which revealed ice formed completely covering condenser cover. He proceeded to tell me these are the worst refrigerators (bottom freezer) and also that they are not built to last more than a year before needing repairs! He said he recommends anybody purchasing one to get the extended warranty because the manufacturer warranty is EXTREMELY limited beyond 1 year as stated in manual. He then ordered a fan, wire and harness and cover (I imagine because he may break existing cover removing it). Boom! $169. For service call. He wasn’t sure what parts will cost yet because his iPad was not working and had to place order on phone through his employer. He then gave me instruction to empty fridge and freezer and leave doors open to defrost ice for 2 days! Thanks KitchenAid once again!! I had to throw out over $500 worth of food from fridge and freezer!! He then said that it will get down to proper temps and that I could use again but that buildup of ice will start again but hopefully be resolved with replacement parts. Hopefully doesn’t sound promising!!Unfortunately, I didn’t purchase an extended warranty but that isn’t the point I’m trying to make! The fact of the matter is that KitchenAid builds a crappy fridge!! Unfortunately, I purchased matching dishwasher and wall oven/microwave combo at same time so now I’m just waiting for issues with these (As a side note, the handle on freezer drawer loosens all the time for which I have to tighten with allen wrench every few days!)!! Well that’s my story as I wait for replacement parts and looking forward to that bill! Sincerely FRUSTRATED KitchenAid customer!

Well with the refrigerator be less than 6 weeks old we have had two services calls. It sounds like a small plane getting ready for take-off, and I have ice build around the freezer door as well as in the fridge on the ice maker. We have been told a part in the ice maker needs to be added so I believe KitchenAid is well aware of the problem but has refused to recall the fridge. Sorry we spent $3000 for a new fridge KitchenAid will not replace for a new working fridge. I love the look and the size of the fridge but at this point that the best part of it.

KitchenAid is a very stylish product without the designer price tag. I looks great whilst doing a fabulous job. The cooking temp is even throughout the oven so even when you are cooking that thanksgiving dinner everything turns out great.

I have had my KitchenAid dishwasher for 3 years but have only had it workin
I have had my KitchenAid dishwasher for 3 years but have only had it working properly for 3 months. I had to replace the top basket parts TWICE, and the control panel is defective. I have 5 kids, work full time and have no time to beg and plead over warranties and complaint records. We have had nothing but problems, and KitchenAid Customer Service will not waive the service fee and parts cost to have it fixed. I have been calling and discussing this issue with them for over a year, and they wont help me resolve the issue. I was always under the impression that this company made durable products and stood by them, and it seems to be a BIG disappointment. It is now nothing but a fixture in our kitchen and hasnt been used since the summer of 2012. KitchenAid is NOT a company of customer service and product integrity. Buy at your own risk. I will not ever buy another product from them and refuse to give them any positive word of mouth. What a shame.
