KitchenAid Refrigerator Troubleshooting

If you're looking for help fixing your KitchenAid Refrigerator, look no further! Our comprehensive KitchenAid Refrigerator Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.

#1 Refrigerator Condenser Coils Dirty
This is a pretty common cause for a KitchenAid refrigerator not cooling. The condenser cools are responsible for dispersing heat. However, if they develop a thick layer of dust, hair and other debris, they cannot do their job. Thus, the refrigerator has to pick up the slack and work much harder to keep cool. When the refrigerator has to run constantly, the internal temperature climbs, warming your food and drink.
If this is the problem, clean the refrigerator condenser coils so they can get back to work. You’ll typically find the coils underneath the refrigerator. Wipe them off with a long bottle brush or use a vacuum hose to clear the debris. To avoid future problems, we recommend cleaning your condenser coils once or twice each year.

#2 Refrigerator Thermistor Broken
The refrigerator thermistor keeps track of the internal temperature. It signals the control board, which in turn dictates what the compressor and evaporator fan should do to maintain a cool reading. A faulty thermistor may send an incorrect reading to the control board, throwing everything out of whack. If the compressor and evaporator fan don’t run when they’re supposed to, the refrigerator temperature will continue to increase.
You can test the thermistor with a multimeter and determine if it is accurate. It will need to be replaced if there is no continuity or if the reading is incorrect. You can purchase a new thermistor from an appliance parts store or have a professional replace it for you.

#3 Defective Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor
The evaporator fan motor is a crucial part of your refrigerator. It pulls air over the evaporator coils and disperses this cool air through the refrigerator, keeping everything at the perfect temperature. You may notice that your KitchenAid refrigerator is warm but the freezer is cold if the evaporator fan motor isn’t working.
Locate the evaporator fan and try to spin the blade. If it doesn’t move, then the motor needs to be replaced. A loud noise is indicative of a faulty motor as well. If this is the case, replace the evaporator fan motor with a new one.

#4 Faulty Refrigerator Start Relay
Another possible cause of a KitchenAid refrigerator not cooling is a faulty start relay. The start relay helps to start the compressor, and thus cool the refrigerator. If this relay isn’t working, the compressor won’t run and temperatures will rise.
You can test the start relay with a multimeter and replace it if necessary.

We have owned this refrigerator for 7 years, and it started to leak. Wood floor and all the other issues included. Since we had extended warranty, we contacted the company. Although it did take longer than I hoped to have them come out, but thank goodness we think the problem is fixed, thanks to a great serviceman from A&E. He was an older repairman, and I give credit to that. He seemed very experienced and it was fixed within one and a half hour. After I read all the reviews before he came I was very discouraged, but he explained what the problem was and it sure makes sense. When he came, he removed the panel, defrosted all the ice and blew air through the drainage hose. Once the drainage hose was cleaned out, we found in the drain pan a plug of vegetables (frozen kale) He explained that this must have fallen on the bottom of the freezer, ended up in the drainage hose and plugged it up.Once it was all cleaned up, we have not had a problem. So what is of great importance in the future is that a person does not let pieces of vegetables fall into the bottom of the freezer. Because it might get stuck again into the drainage hose. I hope I have saved other owners from this misery and maybe prevent you from the same problem we had.

We purchased our KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2015. This model has 2 French doors and a bottom freezer. We woke up to a wet floor this morning, with everything thawing in the freezer. We called KitchenAid and were told about their Goodwill Repair that covers appliances purchased between 12 and 18 months ago for a service charge of $94.95. Great we thought. Then were told they cant get anyone to our house for 5 days. Useless. We had the same problem 6 months ago, but assumed we had left the freezer door open. Not the case. I definitely would not recommend KitchenAid refrigerators to anyone, considering the issues weve had with the product itself, and the customer service.

Kitchenaid ktrs19k - The inside of the freezer burnt to a crisp around the light encasing. It melted the sides of the fridge and charred the side wall. This is very disturbing to know; this could have burnt down my house. Has anyone heard of this before? I, too, had a house full of KitchenAid and guess what? They have all been replaced. Now, the refrigerator is dead. NEVER AGAIN!

This is the second Kitchenaid refrigerator I owned. The first one had problems right from the start. Multiple repairs within the year. Symptoms were not cooling properly, no ice, ice buildup on evaporator coil. Kitchenaid finally replaced the unit because of leak in sealed system. The second one came Jan 2018. By March had issues again. The same problems. Ice build up, no ice, not holding temp. 5 more house calls, loss of food, missed work then conveniently after the manufacturers Warranty expired Kitchenaid deemed it unrepairable. How convenient. I could have told them that back in March. The only problem is that now I am in extended warranty and they only offer 70% of the value. They would not say why it was unrepairable (the sealed system again which should have a 5 year manufactures warranty). I know this because its the same problem as the first one and the same symptoms on last house call. What else would be unrepairable?? I spent 4 hours on phone trying to get satisfaction but they just said, I can transfer you but it will be same answer. Unbelievable that they would rather lose customers for life than replace what is apparently a Manufacturing issue. You can search for class action lawsuits and find many complaints on the same issue. They simply do not care.... I actually believe they deliberately instructed the repair people what to do to stretch out the time to avoid giving me another replacement or my full purchase price money back. I bought Model KRFF707ESS01 for $3,500. Never had a working unit for more than a few months.

My Kitchenaid refrigerator (27 Cu ft with french doors and freezer drawer at bottom) is counter depth and the lighting is disbursed along the side walls. It looks like a runway. Everything is visible and well lit and it has as much room as as a standard refrigerator that is much deeper. It is the top of the line and expensive but so worth it.

We want to thank Chris from B.C. who posted detailed instructions for repairing the electronic control board for Kitchen Aid refrigerators. Our 5 y.o. premium cabinet depth Kitchen Aid model #KBFC42FTS02 had the same problem that Chris described (constant alarm chirping, flashing lights on control panel), but our fridge was still cold. The Kitchen Aid affiliated repair service (contracted by KitchenAid/Whirlpool) told us that the electronic control board needed to be replaced. However, they claimed that the factory which manufactured the parts in Japan had been destroyed by the tsunami and no more parts were being made. Further, I called the KitchenAid parts service line on their webpage and that person (also a contracted service, not a KitchenAid/Whirlpool employee) told us that the date listed for availability of the part was 2020 (which he said meant that they had no plans to supply the part in the future)! The repair service offered to take the part out (then we would have no working fridge) and send it out for repair, which could take up to 30 days - not a viable solution from our point of view. At the repairmans suggestion, we attempted to find a new or refurbished part online and were not successful. Obviously, lots of other folks are having the same problem with their KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. Before Christmas, reluctantly we schedule a repair visit to have the part removed and sent for repair. The repair service never showed, despite their assurances that a repairman was delayed but was on his way! After that, we were reluctant to trust them with the brains of our expensive refrigerator. After Christmas, we found Chris blog of 12/28/13, with his description of the parts we would need to repair the control board ourselves and detailed instructions. We were able to make the repairs and our refrigerator is now working. Our cost was under $20. Thanks, Chris - this was a welcome holiday gift! We cant believe how callous KitchenAid/Whirlpool have been in abandoning their customers. We will never buy another product from their company.

We did a complete kitchen remodel and purchased the KitchenAid French Door
We did a complete kitchen remodel and purchased the KitchenAid French Door refrigerator. It was installed in March 2018. First repair call was in October 2018. The ice machine stopped working. We contacted the company, a repairman came out and had to order a new part for the fridge (which took another 2 weeks for the order to ship and installation). Less than one month later, the ice machine broke again and the LED light on the shelf started blinking like a strobe light. Repairman called again, new parts had to be ordered again and another 2 week wait for the parts to come in and be installed. I wish I had never purchased this product. All of the other new appliances in our kitchen are GE Cafe. Buyers remorse; I wish I had bought the GE refrigerator instead of this poorly built KitchenAid “wanna be”.

I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Office
I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Whirlpool and Marc Bitzer, President of Whirlpool North America regarding a part they no longer made for my 5 yr. old KitchenAid refrigerator. Because of problems I was having with the refrigerator lights and the ice maker not working a repairman told me I needed to replace the electronic control board but that KitchenAid no longer made the part. I called KitchenAid customer service and was told I had to send the control board to Illinois for repair which meant my refrigerator would not be operating for a week or more. After spending hours online I found that Sears Parts Direct had a replacement control Board for my KitchenAid model which I ordered. By some miracle I was able to get the lights working by making an adjustment on the door hinges and the ice maker suddenly started to work. I returned the control board I received from Sears. What is interesting to me is the fact that I never received any response to my letter to Whirlpool senior management. In the letter I asked them 3 questions:When and why did they make the decision to stop producing an integral component for a KitchenAid product causing major inconvenience and problems for consumers? Why does KitchenAid Parts online show this component as available when it is no longer made? Why would a Whirlpool control board be defective in a 5 year old product? (As stated above my control board was not the problem after all.) I also told them I had noted the number of KitchenAid product complaints on Consumeraffairs.com. The fact that I never received any kind of follow up shows Whirlpools total lack of integrity and concern for their customers. The JOKE is Whirlpools Vision and Mission statements..... Pride, passion and performance.... Creating Loyal Customers for Life. We are a company of people captivated with creating loyal customers. Unfortunately the joke is on their customers.

Dear FOLKS, please read this review. WE FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION!! My wife
Dear FOLKS, please read this review. WE FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION!! My wife and I remodeled our upscale homes kitchen 2+ years ago. Granite, all brand new top of the line Kitchenaid appliances. We wanted to buy American, since I have had a 35 year + career in US based manufacturing sales. Well, the KFIS29PBMS refrigerator was unbearably loud from day 1. We had 4 warranty calls right off the bat. They replaced the DC fan motor, the compressor and some icemaker components. This did nothing to relieve the very loud whiny electrical motor sound that was on almost constantly. This took us to the end of our 1 year mfg warranty. We called Kitchenaid several times and they basically showed us their corporate middle finger. They suggested we purchase the extended warranty, which was several hundred $ more! No way, we are not that stupid or foolish. 5 different factory authorized service people visited us. By luck, or I think, Gods grace, repairman #5, who had 18 years as a tech rep, finally solved the issue. The problem was the sealed refrigerant system had a leak. The compressor was kicking into the highest gear (hence the loudest noise level) to try and keep the freezer & refrigerator cool. Our bottom drawer freezers coldest temp was at 20 degrees, when it should have been 0 degrees. The icemaker requires 15 degrees to make ice. It could not do this since 15 degrees was colder than the freezer temp, and the icemaker is located in the refrigerator section! The sealed system has a 10-year warranty, so the final repair cost $0!! Our refrigerator is now very quiet, much to our delight. There were times when we could not deal with sitting at our kitchen table. So, justice was finally done. Call your factory authorized repair people and make them check the temps in the freezer. Kitchenaid needs to stand behind their substandard products. The repair people advised us that Kitchenaid will no longer pay for warranty calls based on noise. If their customers make them replace the expensive sealed refrigerant system enough, perhaps they will spend the extra $ to install better quality units from better quality suppliers. I was told by every tech rep that the quality of todays appliances have deteriorated significantly in recent years. The big companies wants your $, but dont care if they send you bad products. Thank you, I hope this helps many people.

NEVER BUY A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR!! EVER!! My refrigerator has not worked since my install in July, 2019. Multiple service calls with no resolution. When I call I am put on hold for an average time of 30 to 45 minutes. Today on a 53 minute wait, when I connected they transferred me to the dept. responsible for my exchange and now it says a 75 minute hold. Customer service people have been nice and pleasant, but the company as a whole has a real issue and are understaffed. In addition, when I call to discuss the issue they just want to sell an extended warranty. I paid over $3,800 for the refrigerator, so expectation would be that it would work and be a good product. IT IS NOT!

I have a KitchenAid build in refrigerator that is 9 years old, the board needs replacement. I called Whirlpool (owns Kitchenaid) and after their service provider came in they diagnosed that the board needs to be replaced. Here is where the problem starts and the reason of of my 2 star review. They informed me that the part if not available, that they have no idea when it will be available, and that they can not provide a date or any other resolution. Basically what they told me is your 9 year old $8,000 product can stop working and we do not care if we produce the parts to service it anyone. Please do not buy any product from a company that cannot produce the parts to fix it after only 9 years. I know the time seems like a long life, but 9 years life for a $8K product is not a reasonable expectation. Last the customer service is very poor, representative refused to escalate, or provide any other resolution. They really do expect that I have to accept a no working refrigerator while I am waiting for some magical date to resolve the issue on a part that they do not produce anymore. I do not recommend the product. Companies should stand behind what they produce and provide the parts to service it (not for free I am happy to pay).

I bought my refrigerator in 2004 and started having problems right after the 12 months mark. The freezer would turn into a big iceberg. The refrigerator is warm and sweaty. First technician who came out said the board controlling the temperature had to be replaced for $300. Since the fridge started working properly again, I never replaced the part. After working on and off for several years, with me hammering ice from the inside of the freezer at least once every other week, now it totally stopped working. The freezer and all vents are completely frozen, including the vents in the refrigerator. The refrigerator is warm and moldy and I keep throwing food away. Technicians sent by KA hold me hostage in my own home with 4-hour window appointments and then show up out of that time frame and leave sorry, we missed you notes on my door. Every time I call Customer Service, I get a different answer going from sorry, you are totally out of warranty to only certain parts are still covered. Once you pay someone to come out and look at it, well be able to tell if the part is covered or not. I live in FL where everything has to be refrigerated. Im about to roll the fridge to the curb and buy another one... any brand as long as its not KitchenAid.

We bought a very high end Architect series very expensive side by side. Just moved into new house. Awful smell in fridge soaks through food and food then tastes bad. Exceptions are if food is in glass, aluminum, or heavy plastic (not plastic wrap/bags). Water undrinkable. Ice not usable. Smells terrible when opening the door. Purchased through very reputable large distributor who verified on two separate service calls this was fact and made sure not due to other issues. We are using a small backup fridge.Distributor has been calling frequently to KitchenAid rep/service to resolve. KitchenAid has not responded for 13 days since filed complaint. Since installed during building process, not simple to return. Have had other KitchenAid appliances in the past that we were very satisfied, but this is completely unacceptable. We have bought high end appliances from other companies several times and experience is completely different.

I purchased a KitchenAid side-by-side Refrigerator #KSCS25INSS00 for almost $3000.00 from Sears in 2004 with 5-year service contract. In 2009, I called KitchenAid Repair because of cracks in cavity liner since it was under factory warranty. Serviced by A&E Factory Service, who strongly let it be known that the service charge must be paid regardless to analysis, Serviceman Raymond #** said the repair to the cracks in my refrigerator were cosmetic and would not affect the cooling of the unit. Service was under warranty but the repairman advised against cosmetic repair because it would show as a patched-over look, will not look good and again, would not make a difference in the cooling. I found out this was not so. I began to notice over time that milk, juices, and other foods seemed to be slowly spoiling more than usual. In July 2011, refrigerator was not cooling. I called Sears for service and was put under extreme pressure to purchase smart agreement prior to appointment or pay service charge prior to serviceman sent to my home. I took smart agreement, serviceman #** arrived with computer and wand type device and said that he really didnt know what the problem was but it was probably maybe a leak and seemed to be a sealed system internal problem. He steadily called in to confer with others and after about 2.5 hours, he said he would try to find the leak and the decision about the unit would be up to Kitchenaid. I advised that I had a Kitchenaid warrant on the seal system problem. He advised to give the refrigerated part 12 hours (freezer 24 hours) to adjust and call Sears of any problems and then left. The unit seemed to operate for a day. Ice formed in the freezer but melted down the front of unit. I called Sears immediately that day and could not get an appointment until the next week! Serviceman #** came and was in my home no more than 5 minutes and placed a sticker deemed unit not economical to repair/scrap and said Sears would offer a $500 discount on another unit! I complained that it was not economical for Sears to repair but it was economical for me to spend more money! I reminded him that Kitchenaid warranted that problem and was advised to call them. I called Kitchenaid and was on phone for more that 2.5 hours getting the runaround especially with Customer Experience Team. I spoke with several people about them honoring the warranty on the sealed system repair and was told they would send a serviceman out to check out the unit. Serviceman from A&E turned out to be the same first serviceman from Sears and he refused to return although he was representing Kitchenaid. He said he was not allowed to call Kitchenaid and that I would have to do that myself. I was back on the phone with Kitchenaid Customer Experience for another 3 hours and was being preached by Tammy or Pammy about Tech Teams from Sears and Kitchenaid not reporting my problem. But she said Kitchenaid would stand by their warranty. She finally said she would have a Kitchenaid supervisor contact me and I gave her the best number to contact me which was not followed. The supervisor Denna called a few days later and left a message on my home number, not the preferred number that I have given. Dennas message was that she didnt know what Kitchenaid could do for me and advised that it would be best to take Sears $500 offer but I could call her to discuss it. I left several messages and she never answered or returned my calls to her **. One last attempt with Kitchenaid Customer Experience, I spoke with an assistant Joetta, at the same number, but another extension **. After a lengthy conversation, reminding her that I had a Kitchenaid warranty on this repair, she seemed to agreed to help with the problem and said she would send a team that could help with the situation. She took all the necessary information and promised to get back to me. That was two weeks ago. Nothing. It is apparent that Kitchenaid does not stand by their warranties and do not care about the customers.

The authorized repair company told us that the Board had been discontinued by KitchenAid and they would work to get the board repaired. I called KitchenAid and eventually got through to someone that explained that the company that produced this board is located in Japan and was hit by the Tsunami and can no longer provide the board. Also, we are out of warranty and this is now our problem. My issue is that I had expectations that this high-end expensive refrigerator would last more than 6 years. We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator on Sept. 15, 2015 and it arrived with a non-working ice maker. We purchased it from a local Eugene, OR company rather than a big box store. My wife wanted to support a local business. When called about the non-working ice maker that dealer said wait 72 hours to see if it comes on because sometimes it takes that long. Had we known that we could not have made the purchase. Other manufacturers provide ice makers that begin work immediately (e.g., GE or LP). When it did not work 72 hours later we called the dealer again and he said he would call KitchenAid (KA) about warranty service. KA called a couple days later to say the parts were on order and would be ready in about 5 days. Nothing happen after 5 days and our dealer has not been any further help (Appliance and TV Center, Eugene, OR). Given the fact that the refrigerator arrived broken and there appears to be no KA service, we regret this purchase. Others in the market would be well-advised to avoid KitchenAid and look to GE or LP whose appliances have worked well for us.

For the last nine years I have replaced refrigerator parts every year. Most of the time it is the diffuser that needs to be replaced or ice maker will burn up and need replacement parts. We purchased nine top-of-line KitchenAid built-in refrigerators for the premium units in a condo development. A circuit board failed on the first unit after 6 years. We replaced the circuit board (at significant expense) and the unit seemed to work fine... for awhile. Then, two more circuit boards failed in other units but this time circuit boards were not available, reportedly due to the tsunami in Japan. There was no support from KitchenAid or Standard TV & Appliance in Portland, OR - out of warranty they said. We finally found a company that rebuilt circuit boards (very expensive). One of those has since failed and we are awaiting another. Still no help from the dealer or KitchenAid. If you are buying a refrigerator, find another supplier and dealer.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

We have been having problems with our new Kitchen Aid 29 cu. ft. stainless steel refrigerator since they first delivered it to our home July 19th 2013. 1st, had to have a shim kit installed on the freezer door. 2nd, we had frost built up and issues with the ice maker, (they had to come back out 4 times to repair this problem). Finally they replaced the board with an upgraded board which has worked so far. It only took from July 2013 until March of 2014 to fix that problem. Now we have put in for another service call, because we have ice forming under the freezer drawer. Will this ever end? Im getting so tired of calling for service for this appliance.

Just had the service man leave the house after determining that my 5-year-old built-in KitchenAid fridge was not working because of a malfunction in a now obsolete computer board. Only option is to wait weeks for a refurbished board which may or may not work and for how long, no one knows. Not very much choice as this fridge had custom panels made to match the kitchen cabinetry and the panels will not fit any other fridge. After reading the reviews on this site I see that this is a very common problem. I have always purchased KitchenAid - thought they were reliable and reasonably priced - no more. Clearly KitchenAid is a brand name which stands for nothing in the way of reliability and durability.

Remodeled our kitchen 7 years ago and got my dream refrigerator. Worked fine until 3 months ago when we noticed it was almost constantly running. Called Whirlpool for warranty repair. Finds out only needs small part but it is encapsulated and no one makes the board it is on, so it cannot be repaired. $2500 for 7 years is not in my budget. The warranty gave us less than half our cost. It looks like all the other refrigerators are just as poorly made. I loved my refrigerator. Why cant they make parts for their appliances?

KitchenAid Fridge KBRC36FMS01 - Our freezer is not too old, but out of warranty. Have had broken gasket/seal. Replaced x 3. Have had two installers who seemed good, recommended by Whirlpool. Fit of seal a problem. Quality control seems BAD. Have talked to Whirlpool customer service, and supervisor, and told there is no fix. The freezer drawer and seal do not come as a unit. I am very frustrated since freezer is off-line in kitchen. We need some help. Maybe need to call the CEO!

This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes I can save people from making the bad choice of choosing KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. We have experienced several problems with several of their appliances but by far the worst is with our 42 side by side built in fridge (over $6,000.) Our first unit had so many problems within two years that Whirlpool finally replaced the unit. This was not easy but with good documentation, photos and me just not backing down, they finally did the right thing. We received the new unit on 12/3/08 (so only 4 years ago) and the icemaker which never really worked well is now broken and caused a lot of damage to our kitchen wood floor.Water dripped down through the bottom of the freezer door onto our hardwood floor. Unfortunately, water can do a lot of damage fast. After another frustrating experience with their customer service department, I finally got an appointment with a repair service. I wont even get into the details of that frustrating experience. Well, the ice making unit cannot be replaced because of insulation in the fridge door and we would have to purchase a brand new door. This would cost about $1,400 to replace and take 6 weeks to order the new door. Never mind the expense of replacing the hardwood floors. The Whirlpool Company could not care less. The door is rusted at the bottom, so this went on for a while but we did not notice it until it got really bad and the water started puddling in front of the fridge. Also just two weeks ago, we had work done on our 4 year old Whirlpool washing machine ($350 repair cost) and now it is starting to act up again. I assume that I will have to replace it soon since I am not willing to put any more money into it. These appliances are poorly built and dont represent the quality product they once were. I hope I was able to save someone out there from making the mistake of investing in any Whirlpool (or any of the other lines built by them) large appliance.

We bought our KitchenAid refrigerator in late 2013. Luckily we did purchase the extended warranty, something we didnt typically do. When we were first married it seemed like we could count on a refrigerator lasting fifteen years or so, not anymore. Two years into it we started having problems. It wasnt producing enough ice, started leaking water on the floor when freezer items began to thaw. When I called the place where we bought the refrigerator (Hills Flat Lumber, Grass Valley, CA), all I got was youll have to find your warranty and call them. I was in the midst of a family health crisis at the time, so it was extremely frustrating. I found the warranty and took care of all that. The refrigerator was back to working.About a month ago it started demonstrating all the same problems as before. Right before the holidays! Even though we had the warranty, it took awhile to get anyone out, and then two weeks longer for the parts. I was without a refrigerator over the Christmas holidays. Luckily the garage has been cold, so I have been storing my food out there. I finally had the guy out to fix it a couple of days ago. I called them back today to let them know that the freezer isnt the least bit cold. So... About a month without a working refrigerator. It is pretty frustrating. Ive always thought KitchenAid was a good product. I still use my KitchenAid mixer that I got as a wedding gift 33 years ago. But I think the refrigerator is a LEMON!

Our new side by side KitchenAide refrigerator has now 3 times only been able to cool to 55 degrees F. Apparently the technicians have problems finding the cause of coil freeze up on the dual evaporator units. These should be taken off the market until the engineers can figure out what is causing this. I cant believe I replaced on operating 15 year old refrigerator with this $2400 lemon!

My counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator cant be repaired just 2 years after I bought it new. The power supply board I need is no longer available and Whirlpool couldnt care less. They claim there is a 12-year warranty but the electronic part I need is only warranted for 1 year. Therefore why bother having a 12-year warranty if the part you need cant be purchased. Therefore the effective warranty is only ONE YEAR. This is a $7,000 paperweight now. No one should purchase anything made by this company.

In the past 8 year I have built 2 new homes on the upscale side of the housing market. In both situations I used higher appliances from KitchenAid. For the investment made, I am very dissatisfied with quality of the produce drawers. On both drawers, the chrome deco on the drawer handle has come loose dueto faulty adhesive and both drawers have cracked in the center of the drawer handles. This is something I would expect from a 300.00 refrigerator, not one over 2000 dollars @ builders cost. In addition, I had the ice maker replaced in 6 months due to a faulty board, which is something you as manufacturers are aware of, but failed to advise the consumer. We have replaced the ice maker board and now will address replacing both produce drawers. I must say that after less than one year of ownership and facing the fact that all the other series of appliances are also KitchenAid products, I am waiting for the next problem to occur. I come from a family of builders, both residential and commercial and intend to advise them to consider other upscale appliance manufacturers on future projects. If this letter never goes up the management ladder I am sure I will receive the same reply as my last e-mail, indicating that your Customer Service Department also needs repair. Being an owner of several national companies myself, I am very aware of the damage that can be done by not reacting to a problem, where consumers are involved. Thank you.

After several service calls the circuit board has been returned for a second time to be rebuilt. It is February 22 and I still am waiting for a repair. The expected wait time going forward is 3 more weeks! This refrigerator cost $6000!!! KitchenAid has dropped the ball big time and all of my friends and myself will never be customers again. KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator model KFIS29PBMS01 - I had a new kitchen installed in my home September 2013. The contractor bought the appliances from his distributor but I picked out the brand and all of the models. Within one week of the installation of the refrigerator, end of September 2013 there was water and frost coming down from the inside of my refrigerator. A tech was sent and ordered upgrades for the ice maker. It took three months to get the parts. The problem get a little better but very little ice and very, very small. In March of 2014 some food started to thaw in freezer and we had to remove the food. The ice maker then stopped working. My refrigerator is now 18 months old and I no longer have warranty. I e-mailed KitchenAid. They have a record of the problem we had and the long wait. They did not answer the e-mail. I called the distributor where the appliances had come from and they told me I should have bought an extended warranty. I asked why would pay more money when they could not get it right when under warranty. I bought a new ice maker but still having problems. KitchenAid does not care about their customers. I had bought another entire kitchen from them 15 years and they were good. Their products are now nothing but junk and I bought their top of the line. I hope they go out of business.

We selected KitchenAid panel ready, so our custom kitchen would have a designer look. Imagine how disappointed we were to learn that this refrigerator IS NOT counter depth!! The sides of the refrigerator stick out a 1/4 of an inch too far, and The sides of the door show. I understood the sides of the door would show, because you would not be able to open the refrigerator if the sides were enclosed. What I did not know or expect was the refrigerator to be black!!! Why would a black refrigerator be made for white panels? Why did my sales person not tell me I was getting a black refrigerator, especially since I was going to be seeing the sights around the door in my all white custom kitchen? EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION: The spec sheets that KitchenAid provides for your designer and cabinet builders is INCORRECT!! At least ours are! You should review yours!! The refrigerator does not measure the same as the spec sheets. This is why the refrigerator sticks out on the sides. I feel KitchenAid needs to be held accountable!

Just cost me $1,602 in labor charges to fix a six-year-old KitchenAid, side-by-side built in refrigerator. Yep, the top of the line one! The parts were covered under the warranty because the appliance had a Freon leak, which caused damage to the compressor, evaporator coil, and heat exchanger. Now I ask you, if a company recognizes that their appliance should not break down in this way in only six years, as evidenced by their willingness to hand over the parts free of charge, shouldnt they pay for the labor as well?! Oh, and to get the parts for free, you can only use one of their authorized service people, who of course can and do charge whatever they want. This company should not even bother having a customer service dept. They do nothing except repeat their hard line and refer you back to the legalize of their warranty. Never would I buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

However, the drawers (bins) are designed so that all the tension is on tiny triangles. We have had two drawers crack at this stress point and consequently they are unusable. Replacement drawers were ordered $90 a piece plus $20 min. fee for delivery ($200 and counting). It wouldnt be bad if that solved the problem, but it is a matter of time before these also break. Repair tech made a few adjustments. 2nd warranty call 11-12-14 recd appointment on 11-14-14. Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. He was correct. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. They deferred to the factory. If silicon sealant fixes this defect, why dont the display/floor models have it on them?Photo 11-14-14. Can anything be done to force KitchenAid to replace this obviously defective product?

In 2007, I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from Pacific Sales. The refrigerator made funny noises when it ran but I put a piece of tile on the interior metalwork and the noise went away. Seven years later in 2014, an alarm went off inside the control board indicating a problem with the evaporator cooler. As it turns out, KitchenAid or Whirlpool used substandard capacitors in their control boards leading to premature failure. Mind you, this is a $6,000 refrigerator. When I contacted KitchenAid, they informed me that the part was no longer available due to a tsunami in Japan. KitchenAid referred me to an aftermarket control board manufacturer that wanted $800 for the part. They said that they used to have the boards repaired but that was no longer an option. After following the instructions on Steve Jenkins blog, I was able to have the board repaired at Rockstar Computers in Upland, California. Total cost of the repair was $55.

Was told there was a part that should have been put in when the Rubber Stopper was removed. O.K., replaced that part, problem fixed... NO, and told that it is normal for the Compressor to run up to 80% of the day! Have called Lowes yet again due to the compressor running all day, and an electric bill that has jumped from an average of 125.00 to over 200.00 due to this refrigerator. Keep being told by Lowes that they will submit to their Review Board for replacement, but doubt that anything will come of that. KitchenAid? More like KitchenFRAYED. Yesterday morning as we performed our regular cleaning on our KitchenAid fridge, a food takeout bag inside (not plastic) began to smoke. After several minutes of searching the house, looking for the fire, we checked inside the smoke infused fridge, noticing a charred bag as a result of the clearly DANGEROUS light bulb inside. What was a charred bag of smoke and ashes QUICKLY BURST INTO FLAMES!!! We had to call KitchenAid the following day (today) as they clearly do NOT take safety as a priority and have their phone lines open on Sundays and were immediately told it was our fault, not theirs, and completely BLAMED FOR the high-risk situation their fridge caused. Had we left the house or left the bag to smolder unknowingly, our whole HOUSE could have caught fire!!!There is pets and CHILDREN in this household but we were just informed it was our fault for leaving our barbeque takeout bag in the fridge it was required to be in. Horrible customer service, RUDE, unwilling to take responsibility and even wanted us to PAY to have it looked at after we couldve suffered the loss of our house, pets and family members inside. TRULY unbelievable and disgusted by KitchenAid. This fridge has had its issues from DAY ONE. We had to get a replacement immediately as it began to rust on its exterior within its first week in our house.Soon, bins began to crumble, plastic shards filling the interior as we suffered to obtain replacements. Of course, they were highly reluctant to send replacements and sent the bare minimum. HAZARDOUS, RUDE and IRRESPONSIBLE most definitely sum up the company as a whole. Do not recommend, especially if you wish to live your maximum lifespan and preserve your family, pets and friends.

Our $9,000 KitchenAid built-in fridge is 10 years old and required $1,500 in repairs for a faulty control board. The original control board is discontinued (my guess is because they found that it was faulty) and it will now cost even more for the repairman to rebuild the current board. I am not sure why this appliance costs so much when there is no noticeable difference between this fridge and our last homes fridge (except for the fact that it is built in) and clearly you are not paying for quality. For this price I expect better quality control and longer lasting products. When we replace this fridge I will definitely buy another brand. Apparently the fridge has had lots of previous maintenance as well. The company told us that they have been out to our house with the previous owners multiple times. Its shocking to me that a $8,0000-$9,000 appliance could require so much maintenance in the first ten years of its life. Dont waste your money - go with a company that is known for high quality, not just high prices.

We bought the 29 cubic foot french door freezer bottom fridge (KFIS29PBMS) in the spring, and have had nothing but problems with it. When we received the unit, the door baskets and wide drawer were broken. I called support, and got a very friendly agent who shipped out new parts. In July, we noticed a large ice block forming in the top left corner of the fridge. I called support again, and got an average agent that said it is a known issue that they are making a part for, however it will not be ready until November. Last week I noticed that rust spots are forming on the front of freezer door, AND a fan or compressor now clangs horribly when the unit attempts to cool. It is loud enough that we cannot have a conversation on the main floor without being interrupted. I called support again, and spoke with a very rude agent. They are sending out a service tech, however we are really disgusted with the lack of quality in this product.

After Hurricane Sandy hit and it had to be redone, I went with KitchenAid again! I was loyal to them but obviously not reciprocated!

We originally bought all KitchenAid products because they were suppose to be superior compared to other brands at the time. We also took into consideration that the warranty was suppose to be better than the rest. We recently had issues with ice building up under bottom of freezer causing water to leak onto our floor. We contacted KitchenAid and they wouldnt send someone out unless we paid $100 for them to look at it. They sent a guy out and fixed a plastic piece which was the problem (but of course wasnt under warranty either). So now we are left with a wrecked cork floor and a bill for $170. Wont be buying another KitchenAid product again. Thanks KitchenAid.

We have been dedicated KitchenAid fans for two decades. Two years ago, we renovated our kitchen and purchased brand new KitchenAid Stainless Steel Appliances. Within ONE year, the side-by-side refrigerators ice maker motor died. Through the warranty, a new motor was installed. Recently, the Freezer component that generates Freon died. KitchenAid Extended warranty was incompetent and arguable. Finally, after THREE weeks, our freezer was repaired. However, our refrigerator stopped working. KA Extended Warranty offered a repair man in 9-12 days. I cancelled the KA Extended Warranty contract, hired my own appliance doctor, and within 5 hours it was fixed (the previous tech did not plug-in the valve to the refrigerator!). Poor product and even poorer service through the extended warranty.

I thought I was buying a quality product when I purchased my side by side KSF26C7XYY00 refrigerator. The refrigerator I had was very old and not cooling. Since I was renovating my kitchen, what better than to purchase a quality product like KitchenAid... Unfortunately that was not the case! After six months to the day, the freezer stopped working. I had to throw everything away the day before Christmas. Knowing no one would be taking calls on Christmas I waited a couple of days. In the meantime, the refrigerator side stopped cooling as well. I called the KitchenAid customer service line to go through the proper procedures and protocol for the warranty. The service guy came out on Dec. 28 and told me he did not know how to fix it and he would order the parts. Several days pass. I had to call them to find out where the parts were only find that they had no idea. There was a new tracking system and they could not track the parts in transit. After a week and a half and after speaking with one of KitchenAids corporate reps and some emails to the Brand Experience Senior Manager they finally agreed to replace the refrigerator. You would think this would be a good thing however they had to order it and it would take 7-10 days. After calling the delivery company I found that they had had the refrigerator and no information on who it belonged to, yet no one investigated this. I received the new replacement refrigerator on Jan. 20. Now, you would think that the saga would be over, but no. After nearly ONE MONTH without a refrigerator, the new refrigerator does not work! The freezer is not freezing and the refrigerator side is only slightly cool compared to the 37 degrees that it is supposed to be according to the manual. I called KitchenAid only to have the customer service person tell me I needed to make an appointment for a service call. At this point I am beyond frustrated and I would like to get my money back so I can buy something that works. I cant afford to replace food or eat out daily. I will NEVER buy KitchenAid or any of their affiliates again and will advise everyone I know and work with (the 9th largest school district in the US) of the same.

While building a new home we selected KitchenAid for several of the appliances. The freezer in this refrigerator failed after less than 2 years. The factory approved service company was called and on the first visit they determined it to be a evaporator fan. Of course they did not have the part. So it was replaced on visit number 2. It failed again after about 1 month and visit number 3 was scheduled. This time it was determined to be a controller board. Again, the tech did not have the part so visit number 4 is scheduled. So far it has cost me almost $600 and 4 days of waiting for the tech to show up. Not good for a $3,000 + appliance.

I have a 48 built-in side-by-side KitchenAid refrigerator. Manufactured and bought in 2008, so now only six years old. The control board is faulty, and they NO LONGER make the part - for a 6-year-old (expensive) refrigerator! When I called the parts company in CA (which KitchenAid said MIGHT have the part), the person was very helpful and said he moans every time he gets one of these calls. There is no remedy except to remove the part, have it rebuilt in CA for something that MAY work. I will not purchase KitchenAid again.

I purchased a new refrigerator less than 90 days ago when it started malfunctioning. First the water dispenser wouldnt work (unless I was in another room when it would come on and dispense all by itself and all over my floor). Then the ice dispenser wouldnt work, followed by every other possible mechanical failure. The doors did not seal and the ice dispenser wouldnt seal properly causing frost to form around it and on the back panel inside the fridge. Now it wont cool properly. The store said it would take over a week to get a new computer panel and kits to fix the seals. I have to unplug and plug back in to get it to run at all.The KitchenAid customer experience center said they will only repair it, not exchange it and essentially “Too bad, so sad for you. There is nothing for us to do.” I have filed a claim in small claims court to get the purchase price of $3800.00 back and will have to get another fridge in the meantime. Extremely poor product and even worse service from the local store and manufacturer.

Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator in Jan. 2013 for 2,500. Fast forward to Feb 2017, freezer defrosts food overnight. Freezer full of food lost. Next fridge no longer cooling. Call local appliance repair company. Comes out same day! Informs me he is unable to repair issue and advises that it is a recall issue and provides me all recall info. Well, calling Whirlpool customer service was the worst customer service I have ever received. After 2 calls and 2 hours later, finally got an appointment booked for a tech to come repair issue, but was told this repair would be at my expense as Whirlpool disputes the fact that this is a recall, even though I had the service point number quoted to me by a qualified repair technician. Regardless refrigerator needed repair. Was told I would receive call from agent evening before appointment date. No call. Appointment window I was given was 9am-5pm, by 2pm not even a phone call yet. Called CS line again and was advised no tech would be coming out to my home. No sympathy at all from any agent I dealt with, in fact, found them all to be extremely rude!! Next available appointment not for one full week. Was told they will not provide any compensation! Worst experience ever. KFIV29PCMS00 - We got that fridge on January 2014 - so its 2 years and 4 months. The icemaker has never been performant - slow to make ice, but were not using it much so we didnt complained. About a year after we noticed iced was starting to build at the back of the top cabinet near the ice maker. We phone to KitchenAid and were told it was normal and to not worry about since the performance was the same. Yet 2 weeks ago we found all the ice was melting - cubes were soft and wet. We turned it off, but the next day we found the freezer was also melting, then all the refrigerator was not providing cold air at all. Called KitchenAid, the clerk is telling me nothing Ive said is under warranty. Then I told her Have you ever heard about Legal Warranty, and 30 secs later she came back and told me I will have nothing to pay.2 days later, the tech finally came in and said, the second evaporator had a leak so all the coolant leaked out and he had to replace it and also replace all the ice cube mechanism. A week later he comes back with all the parts to do the repair, but then as he opened the back cabinet he found it was filled with stains and black mold. All that comes from the water leaking from the ice maker, dripping inside the fridge and accumulating, then evaporating (from the anti-ice). So we were unaware of that water accumulating inside the cabinet (not accessible) and gradually forming mold (black mold and worst). Now my kitchen is full with refrigerator parts everywhere. The tech has gone as he doesnt want to work on the rotten refrigerator, and Im being ping pong at KitchenAid service and no one is telling me what to do and what will happened. The tech told me the cabinet cannot be replaced and cleaning all that mold is almost impossible. In other words he can only think about replacing the fridge altogether but KitchenAid is not responding. We paid high $$ (almost $3k) thinking we would be free of such problems, but were ending up with that situation after only 2 years. The previous fridge lasted 18 years and never had any issue before 17 years, and the one before that was second hand and lasted 20 years. Im pretty mad and discourage.

We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator (model KFIS29PBMS) with a 5 year extended warranty. We started having trouble with the unit after 1 year, in that the freezer compartment was making a lot of noise. About a year later, it started again. the problem was the freezer was not keeping ice cream hard. They diagnosed the problem to be the automatic defrost cycle not working properly. Ice would build up around the fan causing the loud noise. This time, the service technician replaced the control panel and another panel in the rear of the unit. The noise subsided, but two problems continue to exist. The unit periodically beeps (every five to ten minutes) and the refrigerator freezer compartment continues to not freeze ice cream.I called for extended service and was told they would NOT come out to fix the problem because it was already repaired. After an hour with their extended service rep, they agreed to find another service company but said I may have to pay for the repair. I have had KitchenAid products in all three of my homes in the past. The quality of their products has changed - unfortunately for the worse. When they refuse to stand by their extended service contract, then its time to find another company. After reading several reviews on this refrigerator, I found that I am not the only one who has had this problem. I purchased the French door with bottom freezer style fridge from KitchenAid and couldnt be happier. It was bought at a Scratch and Dent store, which made me a bit uneasy for any possible damages that may show up later, but so far everything has been great. Fairly quiet in our open layout kitchen / living room floor plan.I love that it has a water spout on the inside, leaving the exterior clean without the typical water/ice dispenser eyesore. Also leaves less room for broken parts to be fixed. 8 months of ownership so far and the only thing we had to change was the water pressure on the spout. Very easy.

I am a very dissatisfied customer! I bought a KitchenAid Side-by-Side with Ice Dispenser Refrigerator (Model #KSRV22FVSS04) on 10/22/11 and have had to have 3 service calls within the warranty period (now about to end 1 year later) on the same problem with the ice dispenser. The dispenser chute mechanism is not strong enough to always close and will remain open and not properly dispense ice. When that happens, this allows warm air to get up into the auger mechanism and freeze it up completely, and water flows all over the floor. With the first service call, it was identified that we had been delivered an older model that had a design flaw in the chute mechanism that the company knew about, but didnt fix, and was also missing a part that had to be ordered and replaced in March 2012. We have maintained as per the manual, so any references to any manual maintenance are not applicable to this problem. However, on October 4, 2012, the same problem happened again, and I came home from work to find a leaking mess all over my kitchen floor again! I called their Customer Care for service, but they were unable to get someone right there for 2 days, and I had to take care of the mess to prevent damage to my kitchen walls and floor again! When the service person did come out today, they did not diagnose the problem correctly, and I still have this problem! To make matters worse, I immediately called KitchenAids Customer Care phone (now I understand why they are experiencing high call volumes) and again waited for 15 minutes, only to have to talk with a very rude Selicia who was unwilling to assist me in resolving my ongoing problem. When I asked to talk to her supervisor, Joetta came on the line and continued with the same rude, snobbish, refuse-to-assist-you attitude, almost calling me a liar; and when I requested for the service repair to come back out and fix the problem, she refused. She also refused to forward me to anyone else to enable me to resolve my customer complaint. For over 20 years, I had GE appliances, including a refrigerator with an ice dispenser, and never had any problems. This KitchenAid Refrigerator is my first and will be my last (and I will never buy another appliance that has the name, KitchenAid) because they sell inferior products that dont work as they are advertised, then they refuse to stand behind their products, and they do nothing to ensure good customer service and satisfaction. I will also be telling everyone I know about my horrible KitchenAid Experience and hopefully prevent others from falling victim to KitchenAids poor quality and service.

French Door Refrigerator - KRFC300ESS. I should have read reviews about KitchenAid appliances before I purchased one. Please read this review and be careful when selecting your appliances and also check the warranty and service for these appliances. I purchased the refrigerator in October, 2016. In August, 2017, the freezer stopped working so all the food I had there I had to take out and consume or keep it in an ice box with ice. The refrigerator part also did not work - the temperature was +12C. I called Whirlpool (they are responsible for KitchenAid) and I was told that they will send out a technician. The technician came on August 23 but said he needs to order the part. The part came and the technician changed it on August 30. The freezer worked but the refrigerator didnt. I called back customers centre at Whirlpool and they sent out the technician again on September 1. The problem still was not fixed and the repair guy came back on September 13 and said he has to order another part. The part which was ordered was a wrong part so it had to be re-ordered and the 2nd order came on September 27th. After that call the refrigerator worked but then it started to freeze stuff. Once again the technician came on October 16 and said he has to order another part, on October 24 he installed it.Yesterday I discovered that my fresh basil, lettuce were frozen. Again. I called the Whirlpool and they will be sending out the technician again (I think this guy can moved in with my family- he has been here so many times). Luckily I purchased extended warranty. Be prepared when you call the service centre to be put on hold - today I was on the phone with them for over 1 hour. I BOUGHT A LEMON!!! IF I KNEW THAT I WOULD HAVE SUCH A PROBLEM WITH KITCHENAID I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT. How many times will it take to fix this lemon! Obviously there is something wrong with this unit.

In September of 2016 we purchased a very expensive KitchenAid fridge, almost $3,000. It was supposed to be the top of the line. Thank goodness we bought the extended warranty, because as I write this I am waiting for the repairman to come out for the FOURTH time. This will be the third time that ice has built up along the inside of the back wall, and to fix it requires the unit to be shut off, drawers and shelves removed, and the ice to melt away so he can open up the back and do his thing. The ice build up impacts the fan, creating a loud noise, and inhibits the ability of the unit to make ice. The other service call was for a malfunctioning deli tray control. Prior to this unit, for 14 years I had a Bosch unit in my other home which worked flawlessly. I would never buy another KitchenAid fridge again.

My 2-year-old refrigerator started flooding from the bottom freezer. When I called KitchenAid, I was told I had to pay for the service call and they would pay for the replacement part. Since I had been chopping ice sheets from the bottom of the fridge for weeks to prevent flooding, I agreed. When the repairman arrived with the replacement part, he knew the exact problem since the part which took the excess moisture in the fridge to the evaporation tray clogs - he explained it was too narrow. I was offered a part with a much wider diameter, although he explained it would work best with the old part out and no replacement. When I phoned KitchenAid back to receive compensation for the $91 service call - the problem is in the design. I was told no, and that I owned the fridge and KA had no responsibility (After all, they had given me a free replacement part). My ice maker broke after 1 year. I purchase a KitchenAid refrigerator (20.0 cu ft counter-depth) from Sears 12/20/14 ($1979.99). I purchased a 5-year warranty package from KitchenAid too. Six months later I found a big puddle of water on the kitchen floor coming from the freezer compartment. I called KitchenAid and when the woman asked me what was going on in the freezer (I told her frost was forming in the ice compartment); she told me that it was warranted under the first year and gave me a number of a company (Calif. Appliance Tech) to call. They came out on July 8, 2015 and told me the problem was the gasket on the left side hadnt been properly sealed and was letting air in. They left and a few days later someone from CAT called to tell me the part was ordered and it should arrive in 6 weeks. It never arrived. When I spoke to John on 9/18, he insinuated that I can still use the freezer which is not so. He told the part (freezer) has to be manufactured and I have to be patient as there is a long back order! In the meantime, CAT closed the case and it had to be re-opened when I called back on October 16th.What does this say about the crappy product? The freezer is completely frozen shut so I cannot open the door and have to make numerous trips to the market as I cant use the freezer. I went back to Sears in Santa Monica and told their customers in the appliance area not to purchase any product with KitchenAid in the name. I was very vocal to the shoppers about the horrible experience with them (Whirlpool owns them). I then spoke to John at Sears who took me to their computer and looked up the part KitchenAid told me had to be manufactured and the part is readily available.I am so angry with KitchenAid. They are liars! John at Sears told me the part with gasket could be purchased thru them but it will terminate my warranty and would cost me up to $1,000 to replace. I paid an additional $266 for the 5-year warranty. I am ready to throw in the bucket, call Goodwill to haul it away and purchase a product that doesnt have KitchenAid or Whirlpool in its name. John told me that had I purchased the Sears warranty this wouldnt have happened. How can KitchenAid get away with not providing the warranty they tell us we have? My last call was to Josh on 10/16/15 and was again told the part would arrive in 6-8 weeks.

Obviously, I am extremely dissatisfied with this refrigerator to take time to write a review. I dont even know where to start to list the problems weve had. Repairs have been time-consuming and costly. One repair to replace almost all of the working innards was 4 hours of labor. At least Whirpool covered the parts ($1500) and labor ($700) but only covered the labor after I called customer service and complained. Other problems include the metal strips on drawers discoloring and peeling after only 2 years, plastic vegetable drawers breaking and needing replacing at $100 each (out of pocket). The protective kick panel is broken and wont re-attach so bottom wires sticking out. The fridge and freezer doors are permanently misaligned and dont line up at top and one door protrudes at bottom. Technician says cant be fixed. Husband has tried to fix using instructions in booklet with no luck. Ice maker stopped working. Fridge occasionally leaks large amount of water into kitchen. Technician cant seem to fix problem. It is absolutely the worst appliance I have ever owned. Im 63. Its a total of piece of junk.

The refrigerator just stopped working and now they are telling us they have no one to service our refrigerator until July 9th. This is 3 weeks away. We are an hour and a half away from Denver. They need to send up someone from Denver or give us a working refrigerator. They want to call us back within 3-5 business days. This company has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Plus we have lost over $300.00 in food product which they take no responsibility for the loss.I am reporting them to Consumer Affairs. I encourage everyone not to purchase any KitchenAid product ever! They could care less about their customers. It needs to be made right! I will message this information to multiple websites and consumer groups. They keep saying information is not available to the customer when asked who is servicing us! They wont give out any phone numbers and say our service provider is on vacation until July 9th! They do not care about the customer!!! Do not ever purchase any KitchenAid product! This company is a farce!

Has anyone else been annoyed by what I call a design flaw regarding ice falling behind the drawer? The ice maker drops ice on top of the trigger arm and when the tray is pulled out, ice gets dragged back onto the freezer floor and sometimes bounces out onto kitchen floor. Im dealing with a local business (who sold the fridge to me) regarding the issue. Ive sold hundreds of these and not gotten a complaint. Well, you are now. I have been asked to bring the bin in to see if it is warped or something. Yeesh.

$6ooo KitchenAid fridge doesnt work--again. Twice in less than 2 years, it just stopped working. Everything stopped. First time had it repaired for over $800. Thinking of replacing it with a model I can afford to replace every other yr. Why has KitchenAid gone straight downhill? Or did I get a Frigidaire in disguise? No one I know would take a Frigidaire. They used to be the best lol.

I wish you could give negative stars for their crappy product. We purchased a kitchenaid built-in refrigerator. After only 2 months of operation the refrigerator quit cooling. Both freezer and refrigerator stopped working. We lost all our freezer food and we were forced to rent another refrigerator while waiting for an appointment to have the refrigerator repaired. The refrigerator is still under the warranty period. We have had the assigned repair company come out three times. They have replaced the control module voltage inverter. The refrigerator is still not working and now the repair person has stated he is not sure and will start replacing more parts. KitchenAid has stated that they will NOT do anything but allow this technician to replace part by part. This is a $10K refrigerator and they have little regard to helping resolve the issue. Stay away from KitchenAid.

After 4, (four) lengthy phone conversations with the contact number provided by KitchenAid, in every case, I was told that even though their product was “inferior”, (can you believe that)?; their own rep acknowledged that their product was substandard, they, KitchenAid, still refused to remedy their own and admitted manufacture’s defects. While they admitted their failures regarding their failure to remedy excessive rusting at the ice dispenser, clearly (in daylight) two distinct hues on the freezer vs., refrigerator door and in spite of multiple attempts to level their product, both doors still remain out of alignment. I am so tired of fighting this company, Whirlpool on down. Regrettably my next apartment kitchen purchase of 347 units will NOT ever consider any product under this label.

My experience with the KitchenAid Company was awful. I purchased a high end
My experience with the KitchenAid Company was awful. I purchased a high end refrigerator with a 5 year warranty. The icemaker and freezer at the bottom broken. No ice is producing and the freezer is not keeping food frozen The repairmen came in three times to fix this problem. Three different times, not fixable. They actually said this refrigerator cannot be repaired. Called Kitchenaid and they advised me that they will give me 10 or 15% off of a new refrigerator. Then I spoke to another supervisor and he said the best he can do is give me 35% off of a new refrigerator. So what they are telling me is that I can spend another $4500.00 on a new refrigerator because that is what it would cost me with the discount, so they can do this to me again when the second one breaks.I told them that they are not standing behind their product and they indicated to me that is the best they can do. What the heck does that mean. The best they can do. Why would I purchase another Kitchenaid product when they cannot stand behind their product. If they dont do something about this issue, I will never buy another kitchenaid product and either will anyone else because I am the news media. I know how to get around this whole community. I am so angry. I have a warranty and my refrigerator is broken and no one is doing anything about this issue. Kitchenaid has to do the right thing.

Dont let the high price and nice design of this refrigerator fool you. The interior lights on this model work about 1% of the time. The ice maker produces ice (maybe!) 2 times a month if were lucky. We actually have to buy our ice now.... The water dispenser operates 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time the water dispenses on its own and floods our kitchen floor. The water dispensing by itself happens at all hours of the day. The door handles have all fallen off multiple times. The failures of this product have happened at different times so they arent connected to one another whatsoever. This refrigerator model worked as expected for the first 7 months. We have performed all troubleshooting suggestions. A refrigeration expert has inspected this refrigerator numerous times and and has not been able to fix anything except tighten the door handles (which are still loose and ready to fall off AGAIN). Our friends purchased this exact model and within 9 months their ice machine quit producing ice. If this model hadnt cost us $4,000.00 we would happily dispose of it in the city landfill and replace it with a different MAKE and model. This refrigerator has been a nightmare and we look forward to the day that it actually quits refrigerating our food.

After purchasing our KitchenAid French door refrigerator, a grinding noise
After purchasing our KitchenAid French door refrigerator, a grinding noise started coming from the refrigerator within the first couple of months, and there were giant icicles (over 3 wide) hanging down from various parts of the freezer. I would break off the icicles and the next day there would be more. I shot several videos of the problems, and went down to show them to the salesperson where we purchased it. He said that he wasnt sure if they would go through the Kitchen Aid warranty, or the store warranty, but that he would take care if it, order a replacement refrigerator, and call me when it came in.Months passed, and we went into the Christmas season, then New Years, and I was too preoccupied to deal with it. The grinding noise went away, but the ice build-up became so great that it created two problems: On the one hand, it prevented the freezer drawer from closing because there was so much ice behind the drawers--it would break off and fall on the freezer floor, creating a blockage--this has incidentally resulted in our freezer defrosting countless times, and having to throw away endless amounts of food. When that happens, the system stops making ice as well, so theres that. Additionally, the refrigerator warms to about 45 degrees. This has happened more times than I can count, and we ultimately have to get on the ground and scrape all of the ice out with an ice-pick and yardstick. The other issue with the ice is that it prevented the freezer drawers from sliding, so when I pulled one of the drawers forward, the front panel literally pulled off in my hand. So now we have a drawer with no front, on a newish refrigerator. The ice maker makes a tub of ice, then because it must be melting slightly and refreezing, it all forms into one giant ice cube, so the ice dispenser never works either, and I have to chip all of the ice out with an ice-pick.When I had finally had enough, I went down and spoke with the same salesperson (by this time, over a year had passed), and he said that he didnt remember the conversation, and that there was nothing that they could do about it. We called the manager over, and he laughed saying that so much time had passed, of course they couldnt do anything. We have documented proof from the first 60 days (in the form of videos with dates) that this refrigerator is a $3,100 lemon. This refrigerator needs to be recalled.
