I bought the Kitchenaid KDTE404 (architect series) dishwasher for $900 and had it installed by company who sold it to me. The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, but installer/company repaired it within a week. The rack system is crap. Has plastic inserts with ball bearing. Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. Next repair gets it booted to the side walk.

I purchased KitchenAid Dishwasher 2 drawer style. Its very expensive. Salesman toted as top of the line. First, a plastic part dropped of the inside. Repair man said poor planning. Leaks started. Repair man said dishes must not be too tall. So I checked this with every fill. Leaks keep on. Next, repair man said dont open the drawer during the cycle. It is a flaw in the design. So I started dishes at night and empty next morning. Leaks continue. The bottom drawer is corroded and rust seeping down, floor always wet. I was concerned about mold. KitchenAid said they have no complaints yet I looked on the internet and I find all sorts of complaints.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher, model #KDPE234GPS0, in March of 2020. In November right before Thanksgiving, the pump and motor died. The service tech told me that this normally happens in about a year and a half. He was surprised it happened so soon. He told me to get an extended warranty because it will happen again. Its now January of 2021, still no dishwasher and KitchenAid said they dont know when parts will be available! I should have spent the extra money and bought the Miele like I had previously. DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! STAY AWAY!! Oh yeah and 1 more thing.. This thing always has an awful odor to it.

Ive had more issues with this dishwasher due to its design flaws than any other appliance Ive owned.Design Fault #1: Attach for wheels for the upper rack are weak and regularly break with normal use. Ive had this happen 3 times so far and no amount of gentle use or babying will keep these from breaking over time. The design flaw is the thinness of the plastic used to hold these on. If you dont want to replace these, you can sacrifice some ease of mobility and use a wire twisty tie to reattach the wheel to the rack. It makes it harder to pull in or out, but at least its attached.Design Fault #2: Upon my wife complaining that it wasnt cleaning well, I found that the chopper had broken off from the shaft. No idea why, Ive seen others say that it is a design flaw and that over time it hits the housing enough to break the plastic. I cant say why it broke as I saw nothing in the housing that would have caused it to break off.Customer Service Issue: My wife called them and they told her only the rack itself is covered by the warranty and not the attached components. I called them and asked them if a hypothetical customer were to buy the dishwasher and it came without the upper dish rack, whether they would simply send the rack bare without any of the supporting components. She sheepishly told me they would and I told her that was ridiculous and I needed to talk to a supervisor. Upon returning after a hold she told me shed send me the parts under a one-time goodwill gesture from the company. So I had them send me 3x of the wheels and 1x of the chopper for the parts that had broken to-date. Ill hold these in reserve for when these items break again. Its simply ridiculous that they dont either fix the design flaw or cover the part as part of the warranty. I think they have to be aware of the design flaw otherwise they wouldnt explicitly refuse to cover it when you call.

I purchased this fridge in early 2013. The ice bin latch has not worked since last summer. The bin does not stay latched and come forward the next time the draw is opened. When I called Kitchen Aid, expecting to speak with a customer service tech about the problem, the only option they offered was to forward me to an independent parts distributor. I did not want to purchase a new ice bin or schedule a costly service call if there was something I could do with the help of an over the phone technician. The distributor informed me that Kitchen Aid does not offer over the phone support and my only option was to call for a service technician to come to the house. Is it true there is no customer service support? That is a huge disappointment. After paying thousands of dollars for these appliances the customer is on their own. Also the quality of the stainless steel is poor. I find it difficult to clean and it dents very easily. I had another band stainless steel fridge for fifteen years, when my kids were small and crashing into everything, and it never dented. Now there are only adults in the household and it already has three dents. It is extremely upsetting to have a dented appliance in my brand new kitchen. I was planning to purchase all Kitchen Aid appliances in my new kitchen, but fortunately decided to go with a Bosch dishwasher and a Sharp microwave, which are of much better quality. I will not recommend or purchase another Kitchen Aid appliance.

I have had KitchenAid dishwasher for a few years. I have not been, and am not happy with this product. We have had trouble with it almost constantly. The control panel has been replaced more than once, we have had to replace several parts on it, and the general service I have had from it is not satisfactory. Now the heating element is not working. We paid a lot for this appliance thinking we would get excellent service because of the KitchenAid reputation. This unit has been pulled out and apart and repaired more than I think is acceptable. When this unit gets replaced, I am thinking I will be going to another brand. It is aggravating to open this unit and find it has not drained, the dishes are not dry, or some other problem has become obvious. Perhaps a lot of people like this dishwasher, but I for one do not.

Poor reliability. Very disappointed based on initial reviews of how happy people were with model. I guess I like it too - when it is working. Who has the money or time for all these repairs? Purchased in September 2011 and the motor failed the first week. Best Buy swapped out dishwasher in October 2011. Had some intermittent issues when it would not turn on when we pushed the key pads. March 2013 - stopped working completely. The electrical panel on inside of door came loose. Was not an actual electrical problem so did not fall under warranty. I paid the $130 for a 15-minute service. September 2013. Dishwasher failed to complete rinse cycle and wont start again - just makes a louder than usual noise like it is trying to start. Just called for another repair.

3 years ago we bought a new KitchenAid energy star KUDC101XSS. It has never worked properly ..The washer completes its cycle only 1 time out of 10. The 1st month that we owned it, Sears Appliance Repair came to fix the problem. Completed the cycle a few times and then back to cutting off mid cycle. Repair call #2: same result. Finally, a new Mother Board was installed. Even with a new control board (new brains) the machine continues to cut off before the soap has dissolved. We then signed up for the extended warranty and when the repairman came out again the $$$ coverage of our contract was used up. For 3 years, weve have to hit the resume button several times during the cycle or cancel/drain and then restart the cycle. It still will not complete the cycle and never dries the dishes. Recently, Sears had the nerve to call to renew our extended warranty. We have decided that when it completely stops operating, well just throw it off the back and watch it roll down our back hillside. If a class action lawsuit is ever begun against KitchenAid, we will certainly join the ranks.

Stainless Steel KitchenAid Dishwasher Complaint - I bought this high-end dishwasher for $1,600 in 2006, and it has broken several times - replacing internal panel, internal control unit, and exterior touch pad within warranty period in which I had to pay for labor and miscellaneous parts. It now has another broken internal panel, internal control unit, which is out of warranty now. The GE authorized repairman said I have a lemon and it’s not worth fixing. GE has offered to pay for a few parts but not labor. Or, I need to buy a new one with a slight discount. I feel this is unreasonable since I have had major problems with this dishwasher lemon within warranty.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago thinking we were paying more to get a quality product. It has been instead inferior and troublesome. A long series of problems began from the start. Crooked footings that made it more challenging to install. Leaking door seal that needed to be replaced. Leaks from some undefined location that require we use and empty a drip pan. Plastic wheels breaking and not staying on track (dumping the full tray into the well) when sliding in full trays of dishes. Poor cleaning compared or prior cheapo washers. Flatware trays that wear out easily even while trying to be careful, and now to top it off, the unit has stopped rinsing the dishes entirely. What a huge waste of money!

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (Model: KUD301XBL0) in 25 Oct 10. This is an absolute lemon! This is the third repair for this piece of junk. Now, they are going to put in a new motor. I purchased a four-year extended warranty so does the machine qualify for a five-year warranty now? I had purchased a Samsung for my sons home in July 2010. It works perfectly, no problems, plus a great design! I should never have listened to the sales person at Lowes who said that I couldnt go wrong with KitchenAid! How far off base he was! I am now stuck with a dishwasher that I hate and from my experience, it will break down again and again!

KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDS30FXSS. As a consumer I am loath to leave a bad reviews, but I have to say I am very disappointed in my dishwasher and in KitchenAid as a company. Within the first year a plastic valve sprang a leak and flooded my floor. A year and a half later the upper rack is broken, and the motor has failed. The failure of the valve and the rack I ascribe to bad design and/or use of substandard materials, but the motor problem is more complicated. The factory service technician wanted to assign blame to me, by suggesting that something hard left on the dishes of a piece of broken glass ruined the motor. I have been careful with this machine, and always rinsed dishes before putting them in. Before this I had an Asko Cylinda which got me in the habit of pre-rinsing. Over the 12 years I owned that dishwasher I had to call for service two or three times when small particles would get past the filters and obstruct the flow of water to the spray arms. The remedy was simply to remove the obstruction, however. It never required a new motor. The KitchenAid is supposed to have a soft waste disposal built in. One would think that would provide more protection, but, in fact, it not only failed to prevent a particle from getting in the system but there was nothing to keep it from destroying the motor once it got in. That suggests bad design to me. Secondarily, I have an issue with KitchenAid itself. At every turn the company pretends that customer satisfaction is primary. Their people are always polite, but they are just the velvet glove that hides the iron fist. But the bottom line, in my experience with the company, is that its strict and narrow policies mostly let them off the hook and out of responsibility when something goes wrong. Their service personnel express sympathy but tell you they are bound by policy. Of course, they are KitchenAids people, and KitchenAid makes the rules that make it difficult for the technicians to do right by the consumer. A company that values repeat business (I bought a KA refrigerator from the same designer series first) should barricade itself behind its rules only in the most flagrant cases of consumer negligence or abuse. I paid over $900 dollars for what I thought was a best-quality, USA-made product that would last and had an excellent company name behind it. I used it regularly and took good care of it. A year and a half later, the company will only fix half of whats now wrong with it, and informs me I am responsible for replacing the motor at a cost of $450. For that much money I could buy a Maytag (also made by Whirlpool) or I could triple that amount and get another Asko or a Bosch. Certainly, I will never trust KitchenAid again.

After being put on hold for 10 minutes rep came back on line and suddenly knew all about how that happens to all appliances when the control board fails and suddenly remembered it had happened to her. Bought my KitchenAid dishwasher just over two years ago. Last week ago the top rack crashed down into the bottom rack. They were both full of dishes, lots of broken glass. Long story short, glass bits ended up in the motor costing me nearly 400 dollars to replace. The good news is that after I told the phone rep that I had owned only KitchenAid dishwashers for nearly 30 years and was disappointed in how this one had failed, she got them to mail me a set of adjusters for free. If only she had gotten an authorization for the repairman to install a set, he could have taken care of the problem while he was here. I am still waiting for the adjusters to arrive in the mail, then I have to install them. Whirlpool should just admit they screwed up and take care of this problem.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in September of 2010. The purchase price with installation and taxes $800.29. A service call was made March of 2013 with a broken latch. In 2015 the same problem occurred. This year 2016 in September the latch broke again and now its two months later and the panel of the whole electrical circuit board does not work. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product. I actually have never gone online and made a statement as far as dissatisfaction with an appliance. It seems like to me that not only are products made to break with being told I should have purchase an extended warranty which from many of the reviews is an additional waste of money. I wish I had looked at more reviews prior to purchasing the product. Dishwasher model number is kuds30ixbl. I was upgrading appliances and wanted a nicer product. I will never recommend a KitchenAid appliance again. When I spoke with people on the phone it was very dissatisfied. Basically Ill have to say that most companies are no longer concerned with customer service. I plan to look for the cheapest dishwasher I can find with as few electronics and things to break as possible.

We purchased a kitchenaid dishwasher kude60hx 18 months ago. We purchased the extended warranty with it. The dishwasher pump clamp failed and drained a large amount of water on my hard wood floors. I was at home which saved me from lots of damage to my floor. Its amazing how much damage could have been done. A and e came out and replaced the clamp and the motor which failed from the water. A second motor was needed because the first would not work. Another one was ordered and they came later that day to replace it. Dishwasher still not working. Now a control board would be needed. Part was ordered. I had to wait another week to get that. The new control board was put in. Dishwasher still not working. Now a wire harness would be needed. That part was ordered - or so I thought. It would take 3 days. I called on my appointment day. The part was not in. They would be back in a week to put in the wire harness. The day before the appointment I called because I still did not have the part. I was told that was ok, they were bringing the part. The appointment day arrive. The tech arrived and asked me what was wrong with the dishwasher. He did not have the part. It was never ordered. Now I have to wait a week for that part. I will never buy a kitchenaid dishwasher. Its amazing the damage that can be done by the pump clamp failures. I called kitchenaid to complain. They could care less. I think a class action suit needs to be started. Upper rack was over designed with too many moving features causing inherent weaknesses in plastic components. One year after use started the first plastic tabs started breaking. Without buying a whole new rack there was only one option. Had to figure out stainless steel bolts and nuts to replace broken tabs. Tedious but do-able. I believe most people (probably 95%) do not adjust the racks anyway because they are complicated to adjust. Why build things that break? Just keep it simple! Otherwise this dishwasher works great. It is very quiet and washes well. Clean look. If they would make the upper rack as simple as the bottom rack it would be bullet proof. But no, the Kitchenaid engineers and marketing people had to complicate it by putting in breakable features most people do not use. Thanks for messing up an otherwise great product. Now figuring out my fourth set of bolts to keep the upper rack in place and gliding like it should.

After having a KitchenAid dishwasher that ran well for 11 years, we purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher from Sears on 6/11. This was model KUDS30FSSX2. In November of 12, wheels came off the upper rack and soon after, the motor wouldnt start. It would hum and then not go further in cycle. We had a repairman look at it. He said the motor was bad and that KitchenAid would not replace it. We paid for a replacement (about $400). The wheels on the upper rack were replaced after we complained to Whirlpool. There was never one trip here. They had to call for parts which were sent in about a week. Now, the motor will again not start and we are waiting to get help again. We never talk to the same person twice. The reports above match our experience. This is the same experience we had many years ago with our SAAB auto. They of course are now out of business and their employees lost their jobs. Im sure the execs were well compensated. KitchenAid and their owner, Whirlpool, are headed for the same future. I feel sorry for the employees, but this is what will happen when quality and buyer satisfaction no longer counts. Needless to say, we will never purchase another KitchenAid product or a Whirlpool made product which are marketed under names like Kenmore, etc. Sears too has been no help.

In February of 2011, we replaced our dishwasher with a KitchenAid from Sears. We thought that KitchenAid was a high end dishwasher that would have very good quality and problem-free for years. Boy were we wrong. Within weeks, the top rack started coming off the track. When I called KitchenAid, they offered no solutions and seemed to be unaware of any issues with the quality of their upper racks guide system. The upper rack design of these dishwashers is a very flawed design with very sloppy tolerances that allow the tracks to come off. I will never buy another KitchenAid product again and we will likely replace this poorly designed dishwasher with a product from KitchenAid/Whirlpool. I called the company only to have them appease me by sending me a stainless steel cleaner. Needless to say, no cleaner is going to take the spots away. This is a design flaw and has been noted in several blogs that tiny specks of rust have been found on KitchenAid products due to the brushes used in manufacturing the products. What do I do now?

I purchased KUDC20CVSS dishwasher. After 9 months of service, it started making a horrendous noise. I had warranty service in several times and they could not determine the cause. Now, since its off warranty, and despite never fixing the issue while on warranty, KitchenAid wants me to still pay any labor. This tells me that there was purposeful delay to wait for the device to be off warranty.

KitchenAid KUDS35FXSS8 - When the door is open, the dishwasher has a swampy smell since purchase. It was reported to company several times with repair service deployed twice; both times they assessed drainage, suggested changing cleaning agent, using Pro Scrub option, water neutralizing agent, etc. with no resolution of problem. On last call to manufacturer, they acted like they had never heard of this problem before and were very rude in communicating that there was nothing else they could do (this was spoken by the supervisor not the customer service agent). I would strongly suggest not purchasing this product due to inability to resolve AND poor customer experience. I would like to hear from others who have had same problem so I can document enormity of the problem and provide to consumer protection group.

I have recently and angrily blogged about my KitchenAid dishwasher as well as the other appliances. That wasnt the only issue with the dishwasher either. The springs on both the dishwasher and the microwave broke leaving the doors to open precariously. My husband was able to fix the dishwasher with a $5 piece of plastic, yes, thats right, plastic piece that fit on the pulley system that opens the door properly. Of course, that would have been a $100 operation had we had a repairman do it. Where is our Consumer Ombudsman?

Purchased the machine almost 3 years ago. It has been a good machine with the exception of the plastic support for the top rack which breaks about every 12 to 14 months. Apparently looking on YouTube this is a common occurrence and not just an isolated incident. The part is $20 plus shipping, but buy 2 and replace the other side at the same time, it will save on inconvenience. I am baffled by dishwashers these days. None seem to last. Here is a real cause for an environmental group.

This dishwasher (KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDSO1FLSS6) is seven years old and I have spent more money than the dishwasher is worth. I wish that years ago I would have just bought a new and different brand dishwasher. The control panel has broken several times, the motor stopped working, the plastic utensil holders have melted and my dishwasher is not working again. I just had the panel replaced for close to $300 in February 2012 and the dishwasher does not turn on again! I also find that customer service is awful. I am waiting to hear a response from a representative but I wont sit by the computer. Another reason not to purchase a Kitchen Aid appliance is they use A&E Factory Service and they never show up. I think they are worse than KitchenAid. I had to have my refrigerator replaced several years ago because of a part flaw. I am done with KitchenAid products.

We did a lot of research and talked to appliance salesmen before we purchased our Kitchenaid dishwasher two years ago. Everyone gave this make and model great reviews. When it worked, it was great. It had the extra arm in the bottom. 3rd rack. Then about three months ago it would not drain a lot of the time. We would find soapy water after the cycle. We called kitchen aid, looked on Youtube and tried to correct the problem. Had to press drain cycle to get rid of water and then we did rinse. Sometimes still water in bottom. We called our local repair man and he diagnosed it as being a defective drain pump. Called Kitchen aid. They will cover the part only if we use their repair service. So now I will have to pay them after paying my guy a diagnostic fee! THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN A TWO YEAR OLD Dishwasher. !! Repair guy said all new appliance are not built to last. Next time I will get a minimum feature model. I noticed others have had similar problems. Wish I had seen these reviews before buying.

My wife was having issues getting the upper rack on the Kitchenaid Model KDFE304SS0 dishwasher back into place. Problem was traced to the right hand upper rack trucks bearing retainer failing, releasing multiple bits of plastic and several small stainless bearings into the interior of the dishwasher. Closer inspection indicates that the manufacturer chose to use a nylon (PA6?) carrier which is degraded by moisture and heat eventually causing the carrier to break down. Why they chose that material when so much of the other components are POM which would have held up is beyond me. This will be a problem for others for sure if they use the heated dry. An additional worry is that not all bearings could not be recovered so there may be additional issues due to small metal bits traveling through the rest of the system. The unit was purchased from Sears July 17, 2015 so entirely too soon for such a failure. Clearly a poor choice in materials.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased & installed about two and a half years ago (Dec 11). The model is KUDS35FXSS4 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. We also purchased the extended warranty which is thru Federal Warranty Service Corp. We are having the same, repeating top rake wheels failure (3 times so far - every 9 to 12 months) that many others are experiencing. 1st time was under warranty bought from them... Of course the ext warranty does NOT cover wheels and rollers so downtime, parts, labor, aggravation, etc is on us. Thought KitchenAid was a reputable brand like Maytag 20+ years ago (before they went out of business for poor quality and reliability).Wrote KitchenAid a letter explaining and complaining about our recurring issue over a month ago and have heard nothing. Like many others on this site wed thought there would have been a recall or a part redesign to address this design failure but we see no change in parts when we reorder, over and over again. Funny, the parts supplier acknowledged they are sending out a lot of this specific part to address this specific problem. Anyone know how to initiate a class action lawsuit? Based on all the responses read on this site looks like we certainly have the beginnings of one. With so many out of work lawyers right now it could be a way for some of them to get started. It goes without saying (but we are saying it anyway) we are forever done with any future KitchenAid appliances.

I was talked into purchasing a KitchenAid dishwasher by a sales associate. I went in to buy a Bosch (great product) but was talked into spending a little more because KitchAid is suppose to be the best. I am here to tell you it is NOT!! First, my heating element went out. It was a recall for that particular year so they sent me the parts free of charge but I had to pay someone to replace it! Then the wheels dry rotted on my top rack. That was another recall so once again, they sent me the part (top rack) free of charge, but it was up to me to install it. NOW...the wheels on my bottom rack dry rotted, not a recall (how odd bc the top rack did the exact same thing), this time they are not doing anything to remedy the faulty part!! This company is terrible! DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT buy KitchenAid Appliances! They are truly a waste of money and they do not stand behind their products!! Terribly Disappointed!

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. They are finished with us as we are with them.

In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year old KitchenAid. Shortly after it was installed, we discovered that the handle was improperly attached and one end stuck out, catching on clothes and tearing them. KitchenAid informed me, That was just the way it was on some units. I found that unsatisfactory, so they sent a technician out who basically did nothing. I called the retailer, who replaced the unit completely with a new dishwasher within a couple of weeks. The new unit was installed in January, 2014. It came with a one year manufacturers warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty good through 2019. Since we are at our second home much of the time, and use this dishwasher twice weekly on average, we thought we would be safe with the new unit, which had a properly installed handle, by the way. No such luck. Shortly before Thanksgiving, 2015, while the unit was less than two years old, the top pull-out drawer fell down, landing on the dishes below. We removed the top drawer/pull out unit, and tried running it without the top drawer, but no luck. The unit would not operate without the top drawer. I called the warranty company, Bankers Insurance. They dont cover mechanical parts, I was told. So I called KitchenAid, and the wait was so long I was directed to their website, where I was instructed to enter my zip code to find a service technician. So I did, and the results? NO SERVICE in my area... impossible to believe, with over a million people in my greater metro area! Nonetheless, I contacted the retailer, who gave me the name of a service company. Their technician came out today, took one look, and said that the problem was a repetitive one, a defective part that KitchenAid was replacing with metal parts. No more plastic -- they had so many issues with this part that they were in most cases repairing the defective parts at no charge. That of course, was not my luck when I called KitchenAid. Nope, no replacement. We are not showing any problems with that model! Exact words. Not their problem! But they would be happy to direct my call to the parts department where I could order the parts, and pay for them, of course. I spent over a thousand dollars on this dishwasher, it gets light use, is less than two years old, and it wont run without a cheap plastic pull out part that will cost me well in excess of $200 to replace, because they only sell the entire mechanism. My biggest regret? I specified KitchenAid for my dishwasher in my second home. Trust me, they are not what they used to be, nor is their customer service department.

Wow, did you get the exact same guy I got? Maybe from the Orlando area? Because I got the same lame crap, and I am a former KitchenAid rep. Back when they were built by Hobart till the last year they were purchased by Whirlpool. I warned them that I might just know a little bit about dishwashers, and the guy comes in with a thermometer in his hand. I played dumb, and let him not worry about the 160 degree water going in, which then meant that my water must be too hard, using the wrong soap, and my dog is too big. I let him leave, and then after a thorough internal exam, found the wash arm hub split, causing the arms to hit the manifold in the back (super scrubber thing). All in all a pretty crappy machine. They sent me a wash arm and support, which I replaced. Solved the redeposit problem, but not the horrible soap film. That turns out to be a short fill cycle in the main wash. Sorry sir, but you are three months out of warranty. Even though they knew this unit was causing washability problems from the get-go. Wow. Way different from the company I worked for for 8 years.

We purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher about 3 years ago. KUDS35FXSSO. This dishwasher had the wheels on the top rack fall apart within the first 2 years. Then just days ago, the main controller just stopped working. It looked like the controls were not getting power. So we called Whirlpool and they sent out a local company to see what was wrong. I had to pay $100 for them to tell me that the controller is known to go out and be defective. Also the internal control box was hanging by the wires, also known issue and has caused fires. I also found out the valve was not working so the top sprayers were not getting water so they were not cleaning the top dishes. The parts for these items are covered from years 2-5, but not labor. Total labor cost for all of this plus the previously mentioned cost is around $300. That is not to mention that a heating error was also found (another known issue) but not covered by the warranty. My question is if all of these are known issues, and have occurred to many people, why are these dishwashers not recalled? Or why hasnt there been a class action lawsuit! I will not have them fix this piece of garbage, just so I can pay again down the road to replace or have it fixed again.

Our first problem was that the plastic wheels on the top rack broke and it would not stay up. We had a repairman come and replace them. Less than year later they broke again. We were being very careful with the rack so it is not from being rough with it. They are made of very weak plastic and are not holding up to moderate use. Now the dishes are not being cleaned at all. We suspect that the upper arm is not working so everything on the top rack comes out dirty. To compound the problem, the dirt is now cemented on because of the drying cycle. That factor makes those dishes very hard to hand wash after being in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is just over two years old and is useless. We chose KitchenAid because we thought we were moving up to higher quality. It is so much poorer than our 12-year old dishwasher we replaced.

This is our 2nd Kitchen Aid dishwasher. The first lasted 15 years, which is why we went back to the company. The top rack on this one is plastic (terrible idea!) and had to be replaced. I went to the Lowes where we bought it and the new design is steel ball bearings - much better. But that leaves me and my family in the lurch with an $800 dishwasher that needs an upper rack every 2 years. Lowes and Kitchen Aid have not been helpful, I had to buy parts, $75, to install myself because I didnt want to pay an additional cost to have a repairman come to the house. Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. After a year, the right clip on the top rack broke and needed to be repaired by a technician. 6 months later the other side broke and we needed another service call. In the last few weeks, all 8 wheels have fallen off the bottom rack. We run the dishwasher about once every three days. I spoke to Kitchenaid customer service this morning via their online chat. The service representative admitted that there were so many complaints about my model that it should have been recalled. She said there was nothing she could do for me. I called and spoke to a customer service representative and their supervisor and they both refused to provide the replacement parts. My model is KUDE 40FXSP3. We purchased this new model stainless dishwasher on 11/27/2010. Our 1990 Maytag had served us well, but didnt hold enough dishes, I thought. Everyone said the new dishwashers hold more dishes, but not KitchenAid KUDE60HXSSO! First, this holds less dishes and glasses than my old Maytag. Second, whoever designed the KitchenAid racks should be fired. Its like doing a puzzle to get your dishes to fit. Many dishes and glasses just dont fit - same for pots and pans. And third, silverware holders fall into silverware rack. Very cheaply designed!Dont ever buy a dishwasher with the extra rack for silverware. All dishwasher holes are the same size. Because we have this top (3rd) rack, nothing fits into our dishwasher. Its supposed to be removable, but its difficult to get in and out. Anyhow, its too big to store anywhere in our small kitchen. We have an adjustable top rack which we keep in the upper position. As a result, only saucers fit into the top rack. High glasses must be in the front or they hit the extra shelf. If we lower the top rack, our dinner plates are too tall to fit in the bottom rack. The KitchenAid racks are ridiculous. Many glasses dont fit at all, some just in the far right and far left. There is nowhere to put cocktail glasses with rims. They are too tall. We had a place for them in our old Maytag. The silverware holders fall inside the silverware holder, so that it is time-consuming to put silverware in or take it out. We wanted a replacement.Immediately, our door didnt open all the way, so that the bottom rack was tilted when opened. We complained right away to customer service and they werent interested in listening to any complaint or reporting it. They sent a serviceman who wasnt interested either. We persisted and he finally made the door open more, still not completely, but he says that is normal. The 2nd serviceman was nice, so we got him to call technical service (a customer is not allowed to speak to technical customer service!). Anyhow, they sent a new silverware rack; and of course, its just as bad a design as the first. Right away, the dishes and glasses did not get clean on pro-wash and pro-dry. I had film and lipstick on all my glasses and dirt remaining on my dishes. Immediately, I complained to customer service who were unfriendly, rude, sarcastic and insulting. They sent service who ran some stupid diagnostic that told them that the dishes were cleaning as they were supposed to. So no one cares about my dirty dishes and glasses. As long as their test is okay - customer be damned. We complained to customer service, and they said we needed service again. Our dishes were clean with the old Maytag. But for this dishwasher, we needed to buy Cascade Complete and still the dishes werent clean. I now use the single tablets and only Heavy duty, Proscrub, High Temp Scrub and sani-rinse. My dishes are cleaner. Pro-wash and Pro-dry do not clean them even though I scrape and even rinse most dishes and glasses.I hate this dishwasher because I cant fit my dishes into the racks. Ill never buy another KitchenAid appliance. The KitchenAid customer service is horrible. They could care less about any complaints. Ive complained to KitchenAid supervisors - time-consuming and unsatisfying. Now, I see that many others complain about KitchenAid. Now, we need a new refrigerator and I see all the complaints about KitchenAid. However, Whirlpool and Maytag are the same box and same company. So what do I do? Why cant they make appliances that work? Its disgraceful!

Another warranty call and two visits... back up and running. Now I notice the rusting slide rails for the upper deck. Now into the out of warranty mode and the pump fails again.Going shopping today for a cheaper machine... putting the KitchenAid trash out on the curb for the recycle guy. BTW there were intermittent events for soap dispenser door not opening. (No dishes in the way.) Food pieces splashed around hanging on the walls... and then theres the smell. This model likes to hold used water between washes and after just one day of no use, OMG what a stank.

One year ago I purchased my 5th KitchenAid dishwasher (Model KDTE254EWH), based on my past experience. I have to rinse dishes first because it does not get them clean. I believe the problem is in their effort to save energy and water. The spray arms have very few holes and they are so small they are worthless. If I could get new arms with larger and more holes, I would.

I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher (Model: KUDS30IXBL) and within a couple of months, I noticed that the side air vent was damaging the wood cabinet and the drawer next to it. I called KitchenAid customer service and was told that there was nothing they could do about it because, according to them, the dishwasher was functioning properly. I called the store where I purchased it from and they sent out a couple of installers who looked at the damage and said,I knew this was going to happen when I saw the side air vent design. They took a couple of pictures of the damage and said that they would let their boss know. I have been waiting for two weeks and no word yet from them.

All eight wheels fell off of the bottom rack of my dishwasher. My dishwasher is about 3 years old. It appears the only resolution is to spend $120 to purchase 4 sets of wheels to repair my dishwasher. When I purchased this dishwasher, I decided to spend more than I had originally planned in order to get what I thought was a superior product. This is unfortunate and makes me think that maybe KitchenAid does not provide the quality I had always thought. This appears to be a problem many customers are dealing with, and I have to wonder why KitchenAid does not act professional and address this issue!

It not only cleans the dishes but it dries them. I was very tired of having to dry the dishes after using my old dishwasher. This one solved that problem. Other than the few dishes with a lip, they all are dry. I also like that it’s so quiet that it does not disturb us while watching TV. Having an open concept floor plan, this can be a problem with some dishwashers. I would highly recommend a KitchenAid dishwasher to everyone.

I always wanted to own a KitchenAid appliances Because they’re supposed to be on a higher brand. We finally renovated my dream kitchen and I bought all KitchenAid appliances except for dishwasher which I got a Fisher & Paykel 2 drawer one. Anyway after 8 mos since I bought the Counter depth refrigerator KRFC704FSS It started having a problem with the ice maker. Called in for a service and said they will replace it and in a week the cooling system started to have problems. I called again for service and the guy said it’s a thermostat and they have to order the parts. I called customer service to follow up on the order and they said that it needs to be replaced because they been having problems with the cooling and that the model 704 Is being pulled out and being discontinued so I need to find another model. There’s so much inconvenience on this considering it’s a KitchenAid brand name. I was heartbroken because I really love the fridge and the platinum interiors and its counter depth feature.

I purchased my KitchenAid dishwasher at Home Depot in April. I moved in my house the end of July. In Nov the dishwasher was not working. I tried returning it and home depot would not let me. I purchased the extended warranty and had to go through them. An appointment was scheduled for Nov 19 and the guy never showed up after waiting all day for him to come. I was told after all day he had to reschedule for another 4 day wait. The repair man said it was the motor. It is completely shot. I was told the motor would be in Dec 8th and installed the Tuesday after. After not hearing from them once again. For my appointment. I spent an entire day on hold. 10 am to 4:00 pm to be exact to now be told they can’t find the motor (due to covid) and have 3-4 weeks to locate one before I will be issued a new dishwasher. It is now Dec 22. Still no answer. No one answering a phone and on hold for entire day. After now a month of dealing with this and no one wanting to help I would never buy kitchenaid again. Terrible service, no customer care.

KUDS35FXSS 8 is a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that has an obvious design flaw. We had a similar style KitchenAid at our last house which was a good product. When we built our new home we got the next level up. In less than 1 year, 3 of the small plastic pairs of clips that hold the wheels on the upper rack broke off. Today the dishwasher would not go into wash cycle and after watching a how-to video I found 3 of the little plastic triangle clip parts in the food chopper. One was wedged against the chopper blade. I removed it and the dishwasher works again. I wired on the top rack wheels with stainless steel wire. The lady at the service center said that they hadnt heard of the problem. We bought it a few months before installation so nothing was going to be covered. A friend just had the same rack breakage issue and several people on this site say so too. CHECK THE SMALL PARTS WHEN YOU BUY!

We have had ongoing problems with our dishwasher model KDFE104DSSI, which we purchased as part of a total kitchen set of appliances for install in the fall of 2015. Since the first year of purchase, we have had four (4) electronic keypad replacements, as well as, other problem parts. Each time the technician assures us that this is the only working part and with the *new* keypad, the problem will be solved. Well, the problem has not been solved and we are left to wonder why they will not just replace the dishwasher with something that does not stop working every 4-6 months. We are always asked if we purchased the warranty and we have not as this is a continuing problem and we should not have to pay them to fix something that has not worked properly since the first year of purchase. Nor should we have to pay to have a technician to come replace a part (which generally requires a month to order and return visit to install) over and over again. Dishwashers that cost half of this monster are more reliable and clean better as even when this thing is working we have to pre-wash our dishes! We are extremely disappointed in this dishwasher and our KitchenAid (Whirlpool) experience.

We built a new home and purchased all new appliances, including a very expensive KitchenAid dishwasher. The electronics burn out (and nearly cause a fire) after seven months. Kitchen Aid does not support its own product but relies on unreliable subcontractors. After already waiting for repairs for two weeks, now we are told the parts are not available. Frankly, I do not want a defective dishwasher to be defectively repaired. So far, KitchenAid will not honor our requests for a new dishwasher. This is poor product support and customer service. These are expensive dishwashers that you should avoid.

What is the use!?! I am so frustrated. I was dismissed by their customer service, and just told sorry. Well, that is certainly not good enough. This is a rip-off. If you are ok with spending over $800 every four years, good for you, but I am not. I called repair people in my area and they said the minimum cost to repair is 400. They said that model was not good to begin with, but I researched and researched, and I trusted the name. But they dont stand behind their product to even have parts in their warranty. I have to buy a new dishwasher, and I looked here for recommendations. I hope this helps someone avoid a KitchenAid mistake.

I am so glad I came here to read the reviews as I have a decision to make. I purchased this model Kitchenaid dishwasher which was to be installed today. It didnt work. The installer said it was either the washer motor or the CPU. Im not technically inclined enough to know the difference. He took it back to the store and brought out another one. It didnt work either. The suggestion was made that there was a problem with my power and/or water supply. My Kenmore dishwasher worked for 20 years on those resources.Store tested the machines and found that they were both defective. I was offered the opportunity to have them replace the defective part or get full credit and choose a different dishwasher. My confidence level was very low and it seemed akin to buying a new car, but let us put a new engine in it first. After reading these very helpful reviews, I shall select a different brand of dishwasher. Thank you all.

I bought a whole suite of KitchenAid products when I moved into my new house. I bought KitchenAid brand because my Mom had only recently (at the time) replaces all her KitchenAid alliances that lasted well over 30 years! I thought mine would be the same but NO, NO, NO! The first repair case to the $1200 dishwasher which I paid extra for because it was SO quiet. It was a total splurge but I deserved it after living with the loudest dishwashers for years. It was a simple fix but now needs the same fix again. This time it’ll be out of warranty. The worst appliance though is the fridge! I hate it! I have never seen a fridge freeze up more than this one. The first time it was repaired the tech said it was a terrible design and that I should expect more fixes, he wasn’t wrong. Apparently, the fridge thermometer regulator, coils, etc are in a terrible spot that allow it to freeze up easily. Once it’s frozen and if you don’t notice (it can happen quickly too) it can destroy the main parts of the fridge that make it work & stay cold! So far there’s been 3 fixes to this system but now I’m done. I will be dumping this fridge, I’ve owned for only 5 years and buying a new one because I’m sick of its issues. I’m sad that KitchenAid now makes such inferior products. The only KitchenAid I’ll keep in my kitchen now will be my stand mixer (knock on wood).

We purchased our home 11 years ago new, with several builders grade items, including a relatively cheap GE dishwasher. We got about 7 years of service out of it, and decided to upgrade to a quiet KitchenAid dishwasher we bought at Lowes. Within 2 years, the plastic pieces of the upper rack started to crack. When we called KitchenAid to get them replaced, they told us that a) they were now owned by Whirlpool; b) the rack and parts werent covered by a warranty. So they kindly offered to sell us the parts. We bought them, at about 1/4 of the cost of the entire dishwasher. Now its been two years, and those same parts have cracked again. The dishwasher wont even come on at this point. What a horrific experience. I always thought KitchenAid was a good brand. I will NEVER buy another KitchenAid, or Whirlpool appliance again. This was dishwasher model #KUDS30IXBL1.

Like many others, we bought the KitchenAid based on recommendations from HD and other appliance stores. We spent a bit more to get the high temp wash and power scrub features; basic wash by most products simply does not cut it. After about 2 years the pump started making a racket like a hammer tapping very fast on a metal plate. And...no warranty for the pump. The pump!!! Jeesh. Our first dishwasher from GE lasted 20+ years without touching it. Our second, from JennAir, lasted 6 and that is after I replaced the pump, the door seal, the main filter system and the top rack. The KitchenAid we bought...seems about 2 years. KitchenAid is no better than the worst manufacturers out there. What a joke.

We have had this dishwasher (KDFE204E) for less than a year. Within five months the dishwasher motor went out. The company was prompt and came out and replaced the motor. However now with the new motor, the dishwasher will not dry anything (not even regular dishes and pot and pans) and leaves soap residue on everything. The dishes seldom get clean, even with the soap residue left behind. I cannot recommend this company/product to anyone. Im a commercial dishwasher repairman. My 10-month old dishwasher failed, dead, no lights, nothing. I checked the power and performed troubleshooting steps, determined the problem was a bad control board. I called the folks who sold it to me. They did not have a control board in stock. I asked that they bring a board with them so they could fix it with one visit. They said no, they could not be sure the board was the problem. I was going to have to wait 5 days (including Saturday & Sunday) for them to show up between 1 and 4, and then have to go through another wait until they were able to get the part. I am not very fond of washing dishes by hand, so I called around and found a parts place that could have the part by the next day (Saturday). The part came in and I installed the part, which fixed the problem. I called the dealer and canceled the service call and asked if it was possible to get any credit on the part. They said no, but I could call KitchenAid. I called KitchenAid this morning. No luck, it did not matter that Id saved them two service calls. It did not matter that I had taken the risk for the cost of the part if my diagnosis had been incorrect (with electronic parts, once the box is open, you own it). After speaking with Shari and David (a supervisor), KitchenAids policy is inflexible. If a customer touches it, they dont warranty it. In addition, they refused to send someone out to inspect my work or to confirm the board was bad. Im very disappointed! Heck, if they had offered to split the cost of the part or even to give me credit towards my next KitchenAid Appliance, Id have been thrilled. Instead, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth.

I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator in 2013, stainless steel model #KFIS29BBMSOO. Ive had numerous problems with it, many service calls. The first was the hose in the freezer splitting, which took 5 service calls to figure out, costing me for each one. Finally they said it was a recall item and I should not have had to pay. It was difficult to get my money back from the service people, took months. Now there is ice building up behind the drawers in the refrigerator, blocking the vent. There is about 2 of ice built up so the drawers do not close completely. Everything in the drawers freezes. When I called repair people suggested by Whirlpool. As soon as they heard the model number they refused to come. I called Whirlpool again, they said they have never heard of any problems like this, however, when I read all of the reviews listed here there are a lot of problems with these refrigerators. This has been so frustrating. I purchased 7 appliances at the same time, I did a remodel on my kitchen. My dishwasher failed after one year, the motor actually fell on the floor, it slow leaked onto my wood floors doing $40,000. damage, cabinets had to be pulled out walls repaired, took 5 months. My wife and I bought a Kitchen made dishwasher model # KDS301XBL at Lowes store in Clermont, FL on August 23, 2011. It cost over $700.00. After about a year, we started to have problems with the control panel lights: going dim, not lighting up, etc., then the ceiling lights in our kitchen started to blink and the circuit breaker clicked off... We then called a repair service who replaced the control panel. Within 3 weeks, the panel started to leak water down the front of the new control panel unit. We called the service tech again and he said that the first tech should have replaced the vent and deflector because that is why the water was getting into the control panel causing it to short circuit. $130.00 spent on the first visit and $130.00 on the second visit all for a dishwasher that was not near 3 years old. This D/W has a control panel problem and should have been recalled. There is a class action Lawsuit in the USA and one in Canada also. Avoid this D/W at all costs ....

My husband and I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 2 years ago and had our first problem when we opened the dishwasher for the first time. The bracket holding the third shelf was broken. The dishwasher had already been installed so we could not return it without a lot of problem. KitchenAid sent out a technician and he replaced the part. The rack opened with much difficulty but he said he could do nothing about that. Over the next two years the dishwasher had a slow leak that was not detected until we noticed black mold growing over the side and front of our cabinet next to the dishwasher. We called kitchenAid and they sent another technician who informed us that the leak was a result of the replacement bracket being installed incorrectly. When we again called KitchenAid to rectify the problem that they caused we were informed that it was not their problem and we had to pay for the part as well as a large bill for labour. We are completely dissatisfied with KitchenAid and their total lack of support of their customers. I would never recommend a KitchenAid appliance to anyone. They do not back their product unless you are willing to pay again and again. As I have noticed on some of the other complaints filed with consumer affairs re: KitchenAid dishwashers, we also have noted a bad smell from the dishwasher if the door has been closed. I was unaware that it was the result of the dishwasher not having a fan motor. What an inferior product it truly is. Had we known we would never have spent so much money to purchase their product.

4 years ago when we built our new home, we bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher - retailed at $1800. The big attraction was how quiet it was supposed to be - and it is. However, in the past 8 months the control panel has gone out THREE times! At $150 for the part, and another $150 for service call and labor to replace it, it has reached the point of absurdity. The cycle times are also erratic. Sometimes it will take 4 hours! to go through a normal wash cycle, and others maybe 2. It has seemed to clean well, and it is quiet. But... the ridiculous lack of dependability makes KitchenAid no longer a desirable product.
