My Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUDS3o1XSS4 Bought for $753.14 is three years old. It was working fine until the wheel to the top rack broke in October. I called the warranty department as I have a warranty bought for $127.37 just to discover that the warranty would not cover this kind of part even though I cant use the machine without it.I ordered the part through Marcon company for about $46 including shipping. I was told the part is in backorder (it is being manufactured). They had no idea when it will be there and I am in line because many customers have ordered that part. It took me hours on the phone with many customer service people - some were careless and some were sympathetic. Finally I got the part after more than a month after talking and begging the supervisor to help. Three weeks after the the other wheel broke today. I placed the order for another $44 dollars. This machine is a piece of junk. I am totally disappointed with Kitchen Aid. I had one before and lasted me nine years without real problems. Based on that experience I bought Kitchen aid again. But not any more. The parts are made of cheap plastic that will break all the time. Not sturdy enough to hold cups and glasses, the service is bad, the warranty does not cover any of the interior parts not the racks or the wheels or knobs or grates or shelves. They call them non functional parts, though without the wheel you cant use the top rack as it will fall.I tried to call the manufacturer to complain but I was waiting on the phone forever and no one answered the phone. I cannot afford losing time on top of losing money.

I purchased a new home in February of 2014. As part of the purchase, I upgraded all the builder appliances to top of the line KitchenAid appliances. Shortly after the initial warranty expired, I started having issues with all the appliances. $9,000 Fridge - the freezer is icing over and leaking on the floor. Dishwasher - cheap plastic bracket broke; cost me $300 to fix. Microwave oven - display panel malfunctioning and microwave light went off. Light stopped working after a year. You can buy a cheap microwave at Sears and the light wont go out for 10 years. Stove - this one is fresh, after you light the stove and walk away, the auto light clicker continues to go off. I would never buy these products again.

We had the worst experience with a Kitchenaid dishwasher. I made many attempts in calling them and nothing was ever done. All they did was they send me the same technician over and over. Today we had the technician come and he recommended to get a simple model and not to go with the KitchenAid brand. The sides of my kitchen where the steam vents are in the dishwasher, they are destroyed them completely.

Love the fridge, but after two years freezer started to fill with ice. Determined it was a clogged drain line which is a design flaw. Happens often enough that there is a YouTube video to correct problem. Still have to pay for service call. Learned that nothing has been done to correct the problem. Really? Would cost next to nothing to correct. Now a $22 replacement part is available to fix. Cost me $100. I had already figured out problem, emptied fridge and defrosted - otherwise would have been more expensive.

My KitchenAid dishwasher is 2-1/2 years old. I have been through four repairs of the upper plastic rack and it fell apart again this week. I went over to Lowe’s and asked if KitchenAid has changed the design/plastics used in the upper rack and the salesman told me Im the first person hes ever heard complain about this problem. Find that hard to believe when the repairmen tell me they carry the racks in their service trucks and its a huge problem.

We purchased the above-captioned refrigerator in February 2013. For many month after the purchase, we dealt with a bottom freezer door that would freeze shut and could not be opened without using tools. After four different repairs, the door was finally fixed. Just this month the freezer and ice-maker completely failed. Initially we were told it was a control board. Luckily, we had a second opinion (which we paid for) to find out what was really wrong. Both evaporators have to be replaced. The freezer has been out for two weeks and will not be fixed until the end of this week. The refrigerator is defective and should be replaced.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased about two and a half years ago. The model is KUDS301XSS1 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. One and a half years into its use, it had a repair for $215 for a $30 fuse. The rest was labor because nothing on the dish washer would operate. The compartments that hold the knives, forks and spoons in place are held up on the sides of the utensil tray by bread twiggies to keep them from constantly falling into the respective sections. If anyone is experiencing this problem, the twiggies have been working now for over a year. The bottom panel which is plastic is held to the metal frame with cheap plastic that breaks. It is now held on by, you guessed it, another bread twiggie. Last week, the roller on the upper rack broke off of the cheap plastic spindle that holds it to more plastic parts on the rack. Now it is engineered by an ingenious screw washer fed by a strong plastic tie through a small washer fed through the opening of the roller and twisted onto the plastic frame on the upper rack. This works as long as one doesnt force the rack open. One should note that the end stops on the rack are made up of more cheap plastic parts that are quite fragile and will probably break in time. The dishwasher does clean dishes and is silent, but the cheapness of all these parts leaves me with one opinion - KitchenAid and Whirlpool do not care about making a good appliance. The KitchenAid was a replacement for two previous Whirlpools that gave decent service. I sold appliances in the past and know that KitchenAid made by Hobart was quite a top of the line dishwasher. My advice now - not worth the purchase price, not worth buying so let buyer beware. Because of this atrocious record, the rest of the new appliances in our kitchen went to Frigidaire. I have read many other complaints from others on the internet about this fuse that keeps going out. My repairman left the instructions for replacement so I can do it myself.

Bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher at a cost of almost 1600.00. The very first time I used it, it leaked large amounts of water onto my new hardwood floor. It arrived with a dent in the front panel. KitchenAid refuses to replace the dishwasher even though it is within their 1-year warranty period. They want to send a new tub then have the repair technician disassemble this one and rebuild it from the old and new parts. And, because we didnt install it within 30 days of purchase (because our kitchen reno took longer than expected), their cosmetic warranty has expired and they wont replace the door without a charge to me. The dent in the door seems to indicate damage to the unit before I ever received it. The leak of this brand new dishwasher is in no way my fault yet they refuse to replace the unit. If I had known this was their policy, I would have NEVER purchased a KitchenAid. I have a Samsung refrigerator. The delivery people scratched the outside cabinet - Samsung replaced the entire refrigerator with a new one. It appears that when it comes to KitchenAid, buying American is not the prudent thing to do.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher a year and a half ago. When I moved in the house, there was a perfectly good working dishwasher in the kitchen, only problem was it was from the 1970s. I replaced it with a sleek stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. It worked flawlessly until just after the warranty expired. First, the top shelf did not get very clean despite my efforts to clean the jets. Then the rollers of the top tray broke making it very difficult to operate the tray. I suspect this is why it is not cleaning well because the tray is misaligned. Now, the dishwasher often does not work at all. It beeps and nothing else. It even beeps if both trays are removed. KitchenAid was not helpful at all when I contacted them. Avoid!!!

This is for a KitchenAid range that we purchased just one year ago. We actually love the range and its versatility but it has ONE MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. The writing on the knobs rubs off with just a finger. It happened to all four of my knobs and I have had to reorder all four as I can no longer tell what setting I am on. They cost almost $30 each. I feel ripped off. I think that this design aspect, by 2013 should be a no brainer. Guess I was wrong...

After several service calls the circuit board has been returned for a second time to be rebuilt. It is February 22 and I still am waiting for a repair. The expected wait time going forward is 3 more weeks! This refrigerator cost $6000!!! KitchenAid has dropped the ball big time and all of my friends and myself will never be customers again. It takes time to build a reputation.... This company has lost all credibility.

The light in the oven of our 8 year old kitchenaid superba stove doesnt light up anymore. Apparently we have to change the whole board? Total loss of function for the oven and the visible control area (lights, timer, programs) resulted. The cost of a new board in Canada is close to $500 + installation so it is not worth repairing. Kitchenaid offers no assistance in this matter. The stove cost us $2500. We thought we were buying the best but were we ever wrong.Fridge door bottom hinge is sinking in the door, the door is basically just foam there is. No support to hold the weight, very bad design. I called Kitchen aid and all they want to do is to sell us another door for $800. Believe me, they will never sell me anything ever again, they are far from being the best.

Purchased a French door refrigerator from KitchenAid in 2017. To date, they have had to replace one of the French doors and the freezer door, now the rubber seal on the other French door is broken. The refrigerator is not used hard, we are a retired couple. The two doors that were replaced were due to a rust like discoloration bleeding through the stainless finish. In calling customer service to get the torn seal replaced, I have been placed on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes and still have not spoken to a person, I honestly don’t know if anyone will ever answer. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy these products, expensive and not worth it.

This is the second Kitchenaid refrigerator I owned. The first one had problems right from the start. Multiple repairs within the year. Symptoms were not cooling properly, no ice, ice buildup on evaporator coil. Kitchenaid finally replaced the unit because of leak in sealed system. The second one came Jan 2018. By March had issues again. The same problems. Ice build up, no ice, not holding temp. 5 more house calls, loss of food, missed work then conveniently after the manufacturers Warranty expired Kitchenaid deemed it unrepairable. How convenient. I could have told them that back in March. The only problem is that now I am in extended warranty and they only offer 70% of the value. They would not say why it was unrepairable (the sealed system again which should have a 5 year manufactures warranty). I know this because its the same problem as the first one and the same symptoms on last house call. What else would be unrepairable?? I spent 4 hours on phone trying to get satisfaction but they just said, I can transfer you but it will be same answer. Unbelievable that they would rather lose customers for life than replace what is apparently a Manufacturing issue. You can search for class action lawsuits and find many complaints on the same issue. They simply do not care.... I actually believe they deliberately instructed the repair people what to do to stretch out the time to avoid giving me another replacement or my full purchase price money back. I bought Model KRFF707ESS01 for $3,500. Never had a working unit for more than a few months.

While at my parents house they described a plastic odor from their Kitchen Aid Convection oven when the oven is used (all electric). I turned the power off inspected the connections on the outlet for the oven and also the connections to the oven itself. All are tight and no signs of heating up etc. I plugged everything back in and we turned it on, nothing at first but after about 3-5 minutes you could smell an odor from the upper portion of the unit. Again turned everything off, opened up the back panel and there it was, the oven control board had a larger connector which feeds power to the oven elements and it was melted to the board. I removed the board for replacement. A local company near us (Servall) had a heck of a time finding this part and the connector as well, the board is manufactured by Eletrolux but is in the Kitchen Aid. As of now, the cooktop just works but no displays since the oven control board also controls the displays. I am a master electrician with in-depth knowledge of controls, there has to be something wrong with the board from Electrolux which has been causing all the headaches for all these customers. I am not sure if the self cleaning function has been used but will recommend that it not be used unless someone is there and they want a possible fire. What a shame and shame on Kitchen Aid for not doing something for all these people who have paid in excess of $1000.00 for a heater. Buy another brand and let other know about it as well, Electrolux is a large company or brand that is well known in Europe for its quality, too bad Kitchen Aid botched this one up. Someone needs to step up to the plate make it right before someone gets hurt. You can fix a house but not a life.

I have had this stove for 5 years. It is stainless steel but the top griddle area has all rusted! Also, when I used the self clean program it fried the entire control panel which was expensive to replace even under warranty as they did not cover the service charge and it took 2 months to receive the part. I had a repeat of this problem again, so the panel needed to be replaced. I now have to steam clean my oven which does not work effectively! Also, measuring the oven temperature is NEVER close to the temperature on the display panel. I would never buy another KitchenAid stove again. The fan is very loud as well. This shiny, expensive bells n whistles model replaced a new and very similar Whirlpool which lasted only 6 days before dropping dead. Repair parts were several days away and we were w/o a reefer. Retailer (Lowe’s) very kindly stepped in and arranged this replacement which was actually a slight upgrade and delivered it the very next day. Looked great until the next morning when it seemed that ice maker wasnt working correctly. Within a day and a half the ice maker required service. It was leaking and freezing all over inside the door and top of reefer interior. This resulted in two service visits before a heater kit had to be installed (factory told repair tech it should have been installed at factory). Following this, continued leaks until new seals were installed. Now, 10 1/2 months later freezer quits. Service tech comes, advises this acts exactly like a service flash they received. Performs a number of diagnostic tests and calls KitchenAid as the service bulletin does not offer any fix only says to call for special instructions. Those special instructions were to give me a case number and Customer Assist telephone number. He was told by KA there was nothing he could do - that the matter was being submitted for review and disposition. Meanwhile no freezer and water gushing forth onto kitchen floor from dead freezer/ice maker. I call the number provided and am told that the team would be reviewing the matter and it could take five (5) business days for a decision as to whether it would be repaired or replaced. This being totally unacceptable I was referred to a supervisor who told me there was no way to expedite the process. I told her that five days was totally unacceptable for a replacement decision and then comes the kicker... The five days is only for the decision, if approved by the team any replacement will take an additional 10-14 days! In the meantime I have no working freezer and the refrigerator side, while working, is much warmer than optimal temp settings and compressor is making significant noise. Until this venture we have always had Whirlpool/KitchenAid appliances for 42+ years of marriage save for a short stint with a GE reefer that wasnt our choice. TEST QUESTIONS: Do you think well ever buy anything from KitchenAid/Whirlpool again? (Oh, and did I mention this year we plan to upgrade range, microwave and dishwasher?) Is it any wonder foreign appliances are flooding the market in a country where Made in the U.S.A. once meant quality, longevity and outstanding customer service?

I have a KitchenAid refrigerator that has a problem with the main circuit board. KitchenAid no longer has a company that can replace that board (manufacturing plant was destroyed in a Tsunami) and it cannot be repaired, according to them. They were offering me a pro-rated exchange of $5800, based on the age of my current refrigerator. A new one is priced at about $8000. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After receiving the complaint from the BBB, a representative from Whirlpools Product Review Board called me to process the exchange. I told her that $5800 was an unreasonable amount for me to have to pay to get my refrigerator replaced, given the fact that the parts and labor to fix it in the first place, should have only cost around $300. She spoke with her manager, who I believe is Jake **, and the pro-rated amount changed to $2300. She said that was their best offer and that I had 30 days to decide. Its not a perfect outcome, as we are still out of pocket the $2300, but I do think that filing the complaint with the BBB is what made them try harder to settle this issue. I highly recommend getting the BBB involved if you are experiencing issues with Whirlpool because in my case, they did follow through, and I had a better outcome because of it.

We remodeled our kitchen 9 years ago. We put in all KitchenAid appliances. Dishwasher, microwave, gas range and fridge. I have never been more disappointed with a company in my life. This week after numerous service calls we replaced the dishwasher with a Maytag. Your dishwasher did not clean dishes from day one. We suffered for 9 years. The paint and I stress PAINT on the stainless steel microwave wore off the handle after a year. The range has needed the control panel replaced 4 times. The off button fails every 2 years. The ice maker has been replaced 4 times. The last time the tech told us we had the freezer set too cold. Can you imagine? A freezer, too cold? There were many other service issues that I will not mention because I consider them normal wear and tear. These totaled about $1000 over 9 years, which I think is acceptable. The cost for the unacceptable repairs is in excess of $3500.

On 8/12, I came home and loaded dishwasher (purchased 2/12), attempted to run. My wife said she didnt think it was operating correctly, so she tried it again. After a short time, she noticed it was off. I then went to check it out myself. I turned it on and at that time, I thought I heard water. I quickly turned it off and opened the dishwasher. It was dry. I closed the door and started to remove the trim panel and water started coming out. I then went downstairs (finished basement) and my ceiling was flooded and falling apart, carpet soaked and furniture wet. I was upset at first but thought, well, its just the basement, it wont affect us too much while repairs are being done. I called the insurance company and they sent out Water Mitigation Crew right away. They started to clean up in the basement and drying the floor joist. They then tested the kitchen floor and found that the water had seeped under the backer-board and they had to tear up half of our (less than 6 months old) kitchen floor/tile to dry it out properly. It had also worked its way into the living room area and cupped up some of my hardwood floor. So upon calling KitchenAid, they said they would send a certified tech out. He came out to see what went wrong and found the pump had came off at one of the factory clamp (crimp style). The tech called tech support, they said put a hose clamp on it. The tech did not feel comfortable with doing that, to be honest with you, neither does my wife and I since there are multiple crimp style clamps on the unit. The tech did not do the repair and recommended replacement. KitchenAid said they need a second opinion and that either way, they would not replace the unit and they need to install a hose clamp on it. Keep in mind, this appointment is now over 2 weeks away and my insurance company is not authorizing any repairs to my home until the defective dishwasher is replaced or repaired. Im just outside of Atlanta city limits and the best they can do is 2 weeks for service? I didnt mention the day this happened was the first day we brought home our newborn (really doesnt matter) but it adds to the stress level, and half of our kitchen is torn apart. Im not even going to get into how poor the customer service was over the phone with KitchenAid other than the fact nobody in that company can make a decision and you speak to someone different every time and they pass you around and you have to re-explain the situation. We are not sure what to do. We may remove the dishwasher and buy a different one (not comfortable with existing) so we can move forward with getting our home fixed. With what we paid for the deductible and what our insurance has authorized for the basement and new kitchen floor, we are at almost $11,000. The Water Mitigation Company is coming back out to check out the hardwood floors again and may have to replace that. We were not expecting an unscheduled remodel of our kitchen and possibly our living room floor. One of my biggest problems Im having is, when I ask customer support if a repair is done, what kind of peace of mind do we get knowing this wont happen again via house damaged/flooded, the answer I keep getting is, as long as its within 30 days, we will come out for no charge and fix the dishwasher. It seems to me they couldnt care less our home is damaged. I would imagine now that I have a water damage claim with insurance, I will have to disclose this when we try to sell the home some day. My insurance could go up. We are so upset/angry/dissatisfied. Words cannot describe. I have asked more than once to speak to someone above a supervisor in the company and I was told that person doesnt talk to customers. I want my house fixed back to the way it was and I really dont feel I should be responsible for the deductible and I dont think its fair to my insurance company either. Im very frustrated and dont know what to do.

The top rack adjuster is what connects the upper rack to the pull out guide
The top rack adjuster is what connects the upper rack to the pull out guide. In most Kitchenaid (and Whirlpool) dishwashers, the wheels of the adjuster are connected with a plastic axle. These axles will routinely break, causing the upper rack to fall onto the lower rack, or if you are luck, just separate from the wheel guide. If you bought washers with this design, you will have this problem. We have had our KUDS30X... for about 3 years and have had to replace this part 7 times already. The part costs about $25 a pop from online part stores. This part will eventually wear down and break no matter how careful you are when pulling out the top rack. It is still used on even Kitchenaids top of the line washers. Really Kitchenaid, how much would it cost you to redesign this flawed part? If you are shopping for a dishwasher, look at the wheels on the upper rack. If it has a plastic axle, walk away.

Me and my wife are the only 2 members in house and sometimes my niece come to visit us. We were out of the country for total of around 5 months in last 2 1/4 years. We were not using microwave a lot. It means that we did not use microwave for total of two years since we bought the house. The other day I was popping the popcorn and I could not. Microwave was running but it was not popping the popcorn. I searched about this problem online and tried basic things as per the recommendation on web but It was not working. For expensive microwave like this one, it should work for at least 4-5 years. I called the kitchen aid for my complaints and they offered me extended plan for around $300 for one year warranty. I hope company like kitchen aid should take responsibility of their defective unit and help the customers by fixing it without charging them lot of dollars.

I bought this expensive piece of crap in November 2017 and it hasn’t worked since day one! I have repeatedly called the 800 number with no satisfaction. The first time it took them 6 months to get the part they said was not working and when they finally showed up yesterday May 25 it only worked a few hours and died again. I called service again and they refuse to give me a new refrigerator and couldn’t come out today to fix it even though I have once again lost everything in my refrigerator. The person named Pat on their service line refused to transfer me to someone with any decision making authority and refused to do anything more than schedule service again. I will never ever buy KitchenAid again and believe me the world is going to hear about this. I have been more patient than any human should have to be without a refrigerator and without any satisfaction from a company that sold me a defective piece of equipment and refuses to do anything about it. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID APPLIANCES.

Remodeled kitchen and purchased 4 kitchen aid appliances - thinking they were of great quality and would last. Had nothing but problems since purchased shortly after purchased. Had problem with microwave door problems with fridge - ice maker. Problem with oven when self-clean - shuts down and cant open door. Had fixed 2x -this is the 3rd time! Dishwasher fixed more than once - refused to get fixed again and pay over $300 - can buy a new one.I currently have an ice maker, dishwasher and oven that does not work. Raising 4 children, I am VERY dissatisfied with Orvilles where I purchased the appliances and ESPECIALLY KitchenAid - that doesnt back up the products they manufacture with defects. I will NEVER purchase anything KitchenAid EVER again or shop at Orvilles. I have paid so many service charges and part bills. I refuse to give them any more money!

Salesman assured me that this was a wonderful stove, etc., etc. so I was suckered into buying it. Soon after the purchase, I used the oven... and SURPRISE - the stainless-looking knobs heated so much that I couldnt touch them! Customer service told me that this is normal and even professional chefs have to use oven mitts on certain stoves. (Can you believe that!?) After several calls, I finally got a rep. who sent me black knobs that are made of more heat resistant material. (I wasnt charged for them, so that tells you that they wanted to keep me quiet). That should have clued me in on this product. After approx. 2 months, one of the circuits went out and had to be replaced. My biggest complaint now is the dirty inner glass of the oven door. I called customer service and was told that since the appliance is more than a year old, and out of warranty, they will have to charge me a service call for their technician to clean it. The woman told me that this is common for this particular range!! (Again, can you believe it!??) I told her that this is a design flaw and there should be a complete seal to prevent this. She disagreed, saying its been like this for over 17 years!! NEVER BUY A KITCHENAID! Read reviews and take them seriously... I wish I had!

Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

If youre thinking of buying KitchenAid major appliances, read the letter I recently sent to KitchenAid below. I got a legalistic form response offering nothing, not even an apology. They even got my name wrong. Never again.I am writing about a series of problems I have had with several large KitchenAid appliances. I have never written a complaint letter before, but the coincidental problems with your products reminds me of the planned obsolescence complaints from 30 years ago about American made cars. I thought about just posting all of this on the internet, but thought I should give you a chance to respond first. Here is my story. On December 2, 2004, I bought three major KitchenAid appliances as a part of a high-end kitchen renovation. A built in refrigerator was the big ticket item, but I also bought a gas stove/electric range, and a silent dishwasher, all brushed silver. Together, the three items cost me $11,494.35.Everything worked fine until this past spring, but within six months, all three appliances have had major problems. The compressor on the refrigerator failed. You covered the parts, but I paid over $600 in labor. A hinge on the door of the dishwasher rusted out, and I replaced it for over $300. Currently, the washer motor on the dishwasher is screaming every time it runs. Ive been quoted a cost of about $500 to replace it. What about the stove? This past summer the small control board (near the dials) failed, and I had to replace that at a cost of over $400. Last week, the large control board misfired, turning the oven my 16-year old daughter was using to make cupcakes on to clean mode, locking the door, setting the cupcakes on fire, and sending plumes of smoke throughout the house. Luckily, I was home from work with an injury, and thought to flip the circuit breaker. The fire died after about an hour, and the door opened when I put the breaker back on. I just replaced the big control board at a cost of over $500.All told, Ive paid over $2,200 to repair very expensive appliances that are less than 10 years old, and I still have a screaming silent dishwasher. How do you explain this? Planned obsolescence? If so, you certainly have the timing down pat. So why am I writing? I am hoping you will do the right thing by me and in making appliances that last. What is the right thing to do for me? Cut me a check for $2,200? Fix my dishwasher for free? Give me all new appliances and install them? Send me a letter of apology? Im not sure. I will leave that to you. I do hope someone responds. It might be cathartic for me to post a bunch of nasty reviews on the internet, but I hope there is a more constructive alternative.

I followed the instructions exactly, and the self-clean feature worked fine. Now, all of the electronic controls work, but apparently the thermostat burned out. I called service technician and he came in, did something and it didnt help. After few days same issue again, then guy came in again and said he dont have heat gun so cant fix. Again appointment was rescheduled and then he came in again, did troubleshooting and said he will replace door. I waited for 1 month and called KitchenAid again and they said door that was shipped had a dent so now they have to get new one manufactured. Another 1 month. Our KitchenAid built-in electric/convection oven started a fire and burnt a turkey to a crisp because I made the oh-so-unthinkable mistake of basting it during cooking. The repairman came out and said its normal for the broiler to come on during the cooking cycle if the oven temperature falls, but I cant see how any appliance manufacturer can think this is a good idea. Aside from the fact that this feature makes conventional roasting and other types of cooking impossible, more critically, it represents a serious design flaw that makes the oven a fire hazard. I have contacted the CEO of Whirlpool about this hazard but I do not expect any satisfaction given the response KitchenAid had when a cheap relay on our 13-month-old refrigerator failed causing the temperature to rise and all the food within to spoil. They simply told us that since the fridge was one month past the warranty, it wasnt their problem. How can they justify making appliances that have the potential to harm people?

Expensive KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDPO1FLBL5) is building up of hazardous black mold on interior monthly. KitchenAid would only refer me to A&E appliances for repair at my expense as dishwasher was past one-year warranty. After taking a day off work technician never showed. After speaking with two KitchenAid supervisors in Cleveland, Tn., Wanda and Benjamin, who were unapologetic and wasting over three hours on hold with both companies, I received no satisfaction other than the option of taking yet another day off work and rescheduling with A&E. If you are thinking about buying any KitchenAid appliances, you should think twice. And incidentally, according to Forbes, CEO Jeff Fettig made $45 million in the last 5 years.

KSF22C4cYY01 - Purchased a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in October 2014 from Lowes. Thinking that this refrigerator though a little higher price, it would be a better refrigerator. I was wrong! Shortly after purchase I noticed water freezing in the bottom of freezer. Had a repairman with warranty company come out to fix it. Also had a bad taste in the water that took over a month to clear up. Then the ice maker stopped working. Had the same repairman out. He was unable to repair said it needed a new ice basket. They had to order it. Several weeks went by. I called to find out that they could not find part needed, therefore the refrigerator needed to be exchanged. This has been ongoing for four months and I have yet to talk to the correct person for the exchange. Every time I call I am put on hold for a long time and then told someone will call me back and they never do. I am so disappointed with KitchenAid! I will not buy their product again.

Could that be any more exploitative? When the tech guy was here, he said the labor would be $600 and the part $400...now they changed it to look like theyre being cooperative by saying theyre paying for the compressor but the price is still outrageous because they say the labor is $1050. I purchased an all new KitchenAid appliances in 2006 and have had major problems with them. The microwave was a fire hazard because it would randomly start on its own with nothing in it. A service technician was out several times to repair it (three trips in all). Now, the electric range (Model: KESA907PSS02) is not working again! We had the electronic range control and the touch pad replaced within the first year. They were covered under warranty. The same problem occurred this month and KitchenAid (Shari) will do nothing to remedy the problem. The cost to repair the range will be well over $450.00 if we have a technician do the work. I spoke with Shari from KitchenAid and she was not the least bit supportive or apologetic. She kept saying that it was no longer under warranty and there was nothing she could do. They have very poor customer service given my ongoing appliance issues. She was well aware of my appliance issues but was not at all concerned or helpful in providing assistance. We paid more money for the KitchenAid appliances than what we could have spent on other brands because we thought that we were getting premium appliances (definitely not so). Paying more does not mean that they are better! I will never purchase another KitchenAid product and will share my experience with others. They have horrible customer service and poor overpriced products. Shame on them for taking advantage of consumers and not providing a product that stands the test of time. I have paid for this range twice due to the repair costs over the years and I cannot afford to do so especially in these economic times. KitchenAid needs to address consumer satisfaction and produce a better product that warrants the high price tag.

This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes I can save people from making the bad choice of choosing KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. We have experienced several problems with several of their appliances but by far the worst is with our 42 side by side built in fridge (over $6,000.) Our first unit had so many problems within two years that Whirlpool finally replaced the unit. This was not easy but with good documentation, photos and me just not backing down, they finally did the right thing. We received the new unit on 12/3/08 (so only 4 years ago) and the icemaker which never really worked well is now broken and caused a lot of damage to our kitchen wood floor.Water dripped down through the bottom of the freezer door onto our hardwood floor. Unfortunately, water can do a lot of damage fast. After another frustrating experience with their customer service department, I finally got an appointment with a repair service. I wont even get into the details of that frustrating experience. Well, the ice making unit cannot be replaced because of insulation in the fridge door and we would have to purchase a brand new door. This would cost about $1,400 to replace and take 6 weeks to order the new door. Never mind the expense of replacing the hardwood floors. The Whirlpool Company could not care less. The door is rusted at the bottom, so this went on for a while but we did not notice it until it got really bad and the water started puddling in front of the fridge. Also just two weeks ago, we had work done on our 4 year old Whirlpool washing machine ($350 repair cost) and now it is starting to act up again. I assume that I will have to replace it soon since I am not willing to put any more money into it. These appliances are poorly built and dont represent the quality product they once were. I hope I was able to save someone out there from making the mistake of investing in any Whirlpool (or any of the other lines built by them) large appliance.

As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago
As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago, we purchased a KitchenAid Fridge Model KRFF707ESS01. Rather than take the specced Frigidaire appliance group that was included with our new home purchase, we elected to spend the extra money believing KitchenAid was a superior product. During the past year, we have encountered some of the inner cabinet led lights not functioning and others flickering on and off. We have determined that it isn’t a simple fix such as a door switch, but rather defective led lights and or an led emitter control board. It appears this is a common problem, however KitchenAid is not acknowledging it as a manufacturer defect.I have read a number of online posts reporting the same issues. The reviewers report having replaced faulty led lights, only to have the same problem reoccur. In one case the reviewer stated they were advised that nothing could be done to remedy the problem. I strongly advise you to not buy a KitchenAid fridge with this led lighting design. Repairs are either extremely costly or impractical as the problem will only reoccur. A highly respected technician in our area has confirmed that this is a common problem with KitchenAid fridges. This is a manufacturer defect and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

On June 12, 2004 we bought four appliances from your business which at the time totaled $5,200.33. During the first year and beyond we had problems with the fridge with too much cooling on both sides. After numerous calls and service calls to troubleshoot and repair the fridge, Whirlpool agreed to scrap and replace with a similar model on 12/28/05 (see attached). Unfortunately the same problem has now occurred again with the replaced refrigerator. I appreciate that the item is no longer covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee as it was bought/replaced six years ago. However, the Sale of Goods Act 1979 makes it an implied term of the contract that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. As the item has broken down well in advance of its normal life expectancy and has not been misused in any way, we regard the item as being of unsatisfactory quality in respect of its durability. I am, therefore, asking you to repair the item free of charge or to replace it with a similar model/finish, and more importantly one which is working properly. I want either a repair or replacement model (similar) that works well and as advertised. As a result of the problem fridge, we have thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of perished foods over the years.

In the Spring of 2006, I purchased 4 new KitchenAid appliances for my new gourmet kitchen. Within a month, the control panel of the slide-in oven had to be replaced. The oven stopped working a month ago. The dishwasher has been performing worse and worse every week for a year.I am tired of rewashing by hand all my gritty dishes and glasses. We rinse dishes before we put them into the machine and they come out dirtier than when they went in! Today I will spend the day taking it apart in the hope of cleaning out the guts and getting it to work. Never had to do this to any other dishwasher before. The Magnatron in the microwave had to be replaced one year ago ($125) out of pocket. Two months ago a chip in the control panel had to be replaced ($150), I should have listened to my girlfriend who said throw it out and buy a different brand. My french-door Kitchen Aid fridge has half a dozen broken plastic parts. I have never seen anything so flimsy. I have no kids man-handling my appliances, they are just poorly made.Thirty years ago I got a top quality Kitchen Aid mixer, it still works like new. That is what led me to buy Kitchen Aid everything when I did my upgrade in 2006. I had forgotten that the mixer was really made by Hobart (a really good company) What happened to Kitchen Aid? KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDS30FXSS. As a consumer I am loath to leave a bad reviews, but I have to say I am very disappointed in my dishwasher and in KitchenAid as a company. Within the first year a plastic valve sprang a leak and flooded my floor. A year and a half later the upper rack is broken, and the motor has failed. The failure of the valve and the rack I ascribe to bad design and/or use of substandard materials, but the motor problem is more complicated. The factory service technician wanted to assign blame to me, by suggesting that something hard left on the dishes of a piece of broken glass ruined the motor. I have been careful with this machine, and always rinsed dishes before putting them in. Before this I had an Asko Cylinda which got me in the habit of pre-rinsing. Over the 12 years I owned that dishwasher I had to call for service two or three times when small particles would get past the filters and obstruct the flow of water to the spray arms. The remedy was simply to remove the obstruction, however. It never required a new motor. The KitchenAid is supposed to have a soft waste disposal built in. One would think that would provide more protection, but, in fact, it not only failed to prevent a particle from getting in the system but there was nothing to keep it from destroying the motor once it got in. That suggests bad design to me. Secondarily, I have an issue with KitchenAid itself. At every turn the company pretends that customer satisfaction is primary. Their people are always polite, but they are just the velvet glove that hides the iron fist. But the bottom line, in my experience with the company, is that its strict and narrow policies mostly let them off the hook and out of responsibility when something goes wrong. Their service personnel express sympathy but tell you they are bound by policy. Of course, they are KitchenAids people, and KitchenAid makes the rules that make it difficult for the technicians to do right by the consumer. A company that values repeat business (I bought a KA refrigerator from the same designer series first) should barricade itself behind its rules only in the most flagrant cases of consumer negligence or abuse. I paid over $900 dollars for what I thought was a best-quality, USA-made product that would last and had an excellent company name behind it. I used it regularly and took good care of it. A year and a half later, the company will only fix half of whats now wrong with it, and informs me I am responsible for replacing the motor at a cost of $450. For that much money I could buy a Maytag (also made by Whirlpool) or I could triple that amount and get another Asko or a Bosch. Certainly, I will never trust KitchenAid again.

After a spill over from a fruit pie I tried cleaning my oven for the first time. I followed the directions...wipe up the spilled water in the bottom of the oven and the very short cleaning cycle. The water was not even hot when the cycle finished and absolutely nothing happened. The convection oven does not work so its a very expensive stove that I could have purchased in the 60s. Shoddy product.

First off, I dont see how you guys are still in business. I bought a refrigerator and paid 3000.00 dollars for, and now it wont even cool in the fridge and freezer. I called KitchenAid and purchase extended warranty (my fridge is only 1 year and 2 months old). The warranty is for a year from factory. KitchenAid uses an third party to come diagnose the problem, and they dont even take the time to troubleshoot and fix it. I will never again buy a KitchenAid product. Their business is horrible and they dont give a ** about the consumer. This is unbelievable and Im going on three weeks without my refrigerator being fixed. Every time I call, its a different story. It will be a miracle if it ever gets fixed... Do not buy Kitchen Aid... Never again.

The glass window on my two-week-old KitchenAid Superba double oven with convection exploded last night during the cleaning cycle. Glass flew out all over the floor, clogged the vents of the oven, and terrified me. Thankfully, I was home and able to turn off the unit before anything else happened. Now, I am afraid to replace this with another KitchenAid, especially after seeing these other instances of glass doors shattering.

I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Office
I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Whirlpool and Marc Bitzer, President of Whirlpool North America regarding a part they no longer made for my 5 yr. old KitchenAid refrigerator. Because of problems I was having with the refrigerator lights and the ice maker not working a repairman told me I needed to replace the electronic control board but that KitchenAid no longer made the part. I called KitchenAid customer service and was told I had to send the control board to Illinois for repair which meant my refrigerator would not be operating for a week or more. After spending hours online I found that Sears Parts Direct had a replacement control Board for my KitchenAid model which I ordered. By some miracle I was able to get the lights working by making an adjustment on the door hinges and the ice maker suddenly started to work. I returned the control board I received from Sears. What is interesting to me is the fact that I never received any response to my letter to Whirlpool senior management. In the letter I asked them 3 questions:When and why did they make the decision to stop producing an integral component for a KitchenAid product causing major inconvenience and problems for consumers? Why does KitchenAid Parts online show this component as available when it is no longer made? Why would a Whirlpool control board be defective in a 5 year old product? (As stated above my control board was not the problem after all.) I also told them I had noted the number of KitchenAid product complaints on Consumeraffairs.com. The fact that I never received any kind of follow up shows Whirlpools total lack of integrity and concern for their customers. The JOKE is Whirlpools Vision and Mission statements..... Pride, passion and performance.... Creating Loyal Customers for Life. We are a company of people captivated with creating loyal customers. Unfortunately the joke is on their customers.

Service tech was useless and the problem that was fixed is broken yet again. They are now telling me I will be responsible for the diagnostic visit and depending on what is wrong, may have to pay to get it fixed. I have had technicians out more times than I can count. The broiler element on my KitchenAid range (Model No. KGSS907) came on by itself and stayed on. I was in the living room, and the first I knew was the smell of burning. Not only did it come on, I couldnt turn it off, the control panel being non-functioning. To stop it, I had to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, nothing else worked. Now I am afraid to leave the range alone. This is a big problem since I travel a lot. I was recently away in Europe for a month. Can you imagine what could have happened if the stove came on during that month? Normal practice for any controls designer is to make sure that any failure goes to the off position, but that apparently that does not apply to KitchenAid. Does anyone know of a recall?

My KRFC704FPS Counter-Depth refrigerator has had issues since day one. I should have returned in within the 15 day window to Best Buy. It is super noisy and can be heard as far away as the 2nd floor of my home. The freezer temp wont go any higher than -7 degrees on a thermometer and that is with a setting of 5 degrees. I have a super accurate electronic thermometer in the freezer and it can get as low as -20 degrees. If I set it lower than 5 it can get colder. The refrigerator section has to stay at 39 degrees of food starts freezing. KA has been out 3 times for the issue and they wont help. The techs even brought their own thermometers and it states the same. Their only fix is to turn off the ice maker. I paid $4k for a refrigerator and they wont stand behind it. Also, the seal is tearing and water pools up and freezes in the bottom of the freezer. I have had it for 11 months. Every time the tech comes out he says there are issues, but KA wont do anything but say it is normal. I have all KA appliances too.

I installed a new Kitchen Aid stove in May, 2010. The ovens preheat and self-cleaning features have not been working correctly since I first used the self-cleaning for the first time. I am 85 years old and gave up a perfectly good older GE stove because I could no longer reach the controls on the rear panel and bought this new Kitchen Aid because it has the controls conveniently on the front panel. It was a very bad decision. This is a very expensive junk. If you are considering buying a Kitchen Aid stove, dont do it. I am very unhappy with mine. I recommend you find a good used American-made made product and have it reconditioned by a qualified appliance repair person. I cannot afford this kind of ** product. On June 27, 2018 my parents purchased side by side KitchenAid refrigerator model: KRSF505ESS. They made this purchase at Canadian Appliance Source. The product was delivered on Sep.20.18. The product has not performed well since opened, the freezer didn’t freeze and the ice maker didn’t work. To resolve the problem, we contacted WHIRLPOOL CANADA, at phone 1-800-807-6777 as they are taking care of the appliances after the purchase as a manufacture warranty. We scheduled an appointment for Sep.27.2018 and the technician appeared on the wrong address, even though he was provided with the address shown above and the postal code. We called to Whirlpool Customer service again and scheduled new appointment for Oct.1.2018 from 9am-1pm, Spoke to Brenda. We arranged the time and took time off from work, nobody appeared, no phone call made to notify us.When called Whirlpool on Oct.2.2018, they advise that the appointment from Oct 1st rescheduled for Oct. 2nd (without any notification to the customer) and the technical behind the schedule. The time of my call was 8pm Est. on Oct.2.2018. The tech didn’t come (spoke to Stephanie). I called Whirlpool on Oct.3.2018 stating that the technician wasn’t at the place and they offered to reschedule the appointment for Oct.10.2018 for 8am-12pm (Spoke to Tylor). At this time the technician Ram **, from “The Appliance Pros came. He did some maintenance and advised to wait for 24 hours to see if the fridge is working. The refrigerator didn’t work, and at this point both the fridge and the freezer weren’t operated.I was calling Whirlpool Canada on Oct.11.2018 and explaining that the fridge is not working. The representative after a long wait on hold explained that we are on emergency status but unfortunately she doesn’t have any records or documentations from the technician about the issue. I called Whirlpool Canada on Oct.12.2018 at 8:30am Est, and they said that the technician should come secondly to monitor the issue, and it is scheduled for Oct.16.2018, and again nobody notified us about this.I am very frustrated customer of being offered poor service, very long waiting times on hold, NO COMMUNICATION between the customer, the Customer Service and the maintenance team, and no resolution in timely manner. I would like to address it, since it is not the way Whirlpool should serve their customers. I would like to get faster response for the addressed issues, need to be notified about any changes that done by the customer support representative about any changes or updates about the service. Im not typically writing reviews but this situation should definitely be addressed. I hope my review will avoid people of dealing with CAS in particular and Whirlpool Canada in general.

We purchased our Kitchenaid Refrigerator, model # KFIS29BB with great excitement in January 2014. We had done our homework, looked at many fridges and were confident in our choice, having owned wonderful Kitchenaid appliances before. Right away I noticed that it seemed to run a lot, and seemed louder than would be right. Ironically we had also purchased a Kitchenaid Dishwasher which is among the quietest in the industry. By August, the icemaker stopped working. It was under warranty, so the repair team came out. This required two visits, one to diagnose and one to actually repair. On repair day, it took two men four hours. They removed every shelf and bin and replaced the compressor and the evaporator. The repairman confided that he had fixed quite a lot of this particular model. Within two weeks, the ice maker quit again. And this time a loud annoying buzz from the motor began. Another two call repair. The second repair did not require as much time and effort as the first. But within 2 weeks the second repair failed, and the loud buzz was back. The fridge seemed to run constantly, but the temp in the freezer was about 18 degrees, and the fridge, 45. And the buzzing was crazy making incessant. At this point the store agreed to exchange it and we did not purchase another kitchenaid. Im hoping to save someone else the level of aggravation this purchase caused. On a brighter note, the kitchenaid architect series dishwasher rocks!

I tried to find the diagrams for KitchenAid Model KDTE204DSS1 to no avail, as they keep providing a different but supposedly similar model. The washer has a pump that whines and screams and now it will not pump. I did the usual, and cleaned the filters etc. Finally with a turkey baster, I emptied all of the water from washer. I then carefully removed the three prong brown wire from the pump. I twisted the pump and it came out in my hands. Once the pump is totally dissimilar to all pump on the dishwashers that Kitchen Aid lists. This does not make very happy. As I write this, should I find/buy a pump in the morning and put it in place and the machine again fails, I look at the circuit board and head to Sears to buy a Kenmore. We purchased KitchenAid fridge, Model # KFIS29PBMS00 from Lowes in May of 2015. We began having problems within 2 weeks of it being installed in our home. We had to have it serviced 7 times to finally get it repaired. It was finally repaired by the end of June. Subsequently, I had to keep throwing away food, taking off of work, etc. Now, 9 months later, it is working infrequently now. It started making a noise, like a lower sound like a leaf blower. Then, it started losing temperature. Main purpose of my writing a review... dont be fooled by KitchenAid supposedly being one of the top the line fridges/freezers at Lowes. At our old home, the fridge was there when we moved in and was still working perfectly when we left 10 1/2 years later. It was a GE.Result: I will never buy another Kitchen Aid or Whirlpool product. Although some of their products may be acceptable, the company has cost my family money through the loss of food and work and inconvenience for 9 months for a fridge that cost almost $2000! They should replace it because apparently it is a sub-standard product.

I could have bought another Bosch to last another 11 years (the last dishwasher in this house) but went with a domestic piece of garbage instead. Im appalled that they wouldnt even give a discount on the part - instead tried to sell me a NEW dishwasher at a discount! I will never ever ever buy KitchenAid again. So disappointed in their customer service. I understand, things break - but own up to it instead of relying solely on us coughing up another $200+ at the time of purchase. We could barely afford the dishwasher and trusted that the brand would hold up. Obviously a mistake.

We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2019, and while it is very quiet (nice!), plastic parts on the interior assembly have started to disintegrate to the point that they are breaking off. And we dont run it often as a household of two. Why is it that manufacturers cheap out on parts so much these days? Maybe plastic isnt meant to be washed and baked at high temperatures. Can we please go back to the old school appliances that last for 30 years?
