Purchased the KitchenAid KUDS35FXBL3FXBL3 dishwasher for approx $1000. In less than 2 years time, I have had the upper rack rollers break numerous times, and have replaced 4 sets at this point. On one occasion, the small plastic roller part that tends to break ended up falling into the drain system of the dishwasher and jammed the mechanism, causing it to immediately shut down. To date, all but one set of rack roller parts have been replaced under warranty, and the problem with the jammed motor/pump was also fixed under warranty. HOWEVER - the repeated breaking of the rack rollers in an ongoing and unacceptable problem. Despite the evidence, KitchenAid customer service claims there is no known issue with these parts. I offered to send them a link to this site, which details numerous complaints for this very issue, but they declined. AVOID PURCHASING SIMILAR KITCHENAID DISHWASHER MODELS.

We have had this range since March and it is a huge disappointment! On four different occasions the control panel has blown and shut down the power to the range. In order to restart it we had to reset the circuit breaker. After the second call to service we were told that we should put the stove on a separate circuit by itself. We hired an electrician and had a separate circuit put in for the stove. After the third outage KitchenAid replaced the control panel, but last week it went out again.Next problem is that the knobs and front panel get extremely hot when you run the oven for more than 30 minutes. You need a potholder to turn the knobs. Reported this concern to safety dept. who sent the serviceman again to test the temperature. It was 140 degrees at the knobs, but 160 is the legal heat level. A child could easily burn their hands. Lastly, the AquaClean does not work very well. The edges dont come clean and the large glass door is impossible to clean. There is heavy grease stains all on the glass that cant be removed. This range is not acceptable and is not recommended. There doesnt seem to be any resolution.

Two weeks before the warranty ran out on my Kitchen Aid microwave, the unit started humming by itself while it is turned off. I called warranty center and they came in and repaired it. After the warranty ended, within one month, the same loud humming happened. So I called and had a technician come in and repair it. The unit is now two years old, it starts to hum anytime I turn on my range to cook. I would have to unplug it. Another thing about it is it starts to hum in the middle of the night, and then would turn on by itself. I think that a product like Kitchen Aid should live by its word. I cannot use this unit with trust.

My KitchenAid Superba Ovens thermal fuse has burned up for the 3rd time after the self-clean cycle. Every time I have called KitchenAid, they tell me they are not aware of a problem. Well **, there are more complaints than I have time to read. Even the repairman knows what the problem is before he even looks at it, he has fixed so many! I will be cleaning my expensive oven with Easy Off. Never buy a KitchenAid or Whirlpool product!

Salesman at my local appliance store said KitchenAid refrigerators are among the best. Great, paid $4000.00 for a model KRFF507ESS01. Beautiful fridge but, in just over a month it got really warm and we lost most of the food. Their warranty does not cover food spoilage. Service man comes, its the motherboard, of course. Its faulty and they know it. Not too impressed, you would think that in 2016 they could build a fridge that works.Updated om 10/14/2016: Fridge was good for the next two months and it died again. Another service call and the repair man said they do not have a fix at the moment. After a big fight the appliance store gave me another fridge. The fridge lost cooling because the evaporator behind the meat drawer would ice up and cold air could not pass up into the main compartment.

We purchased a high end KitchenAid refrigerator (almost 3,000) and began having problems within 6 months. Have had 6 technician visits to attempt to fix (back of refrigerator freezes up, cant get filtered water, stops cooling and food rots in our absence). EVERY replaceable part that is not considered part of the inner compartment has been replaced. Our last technician, in writing, wrote that there was nothing else that could be done except replace the entire refrigerator and that ours was a lemon. I called the manufacturer (Whirlpool/KitchenAid) and they told me that I had a problem and they didnt, in other words... I was SOL. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR or for that matter ANYTHING under the WHIRLPOOL umbrella since they will not stand by their products. Buy a GE!

We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid app
We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, even a toaster oven). It has been a disaster since day one. The doors have never aligned correctly (as seen reviewed before) and the ice maker stopped working early on and water ran and ruined my wood floor (as reviewed before). But, the main problem is with the coils in the refrigerator that consistently ice up, allowing no air flow, therefore no cooling (which has been reviewed before). Obviously, this leads to spoiling food, which we have replaced numerous times due to the problem. Now, we keep a thermometer in it at all times, so once we see it start getting warmer, we have to take apart the refrigerator to defrost the ice that has covered the coils. We have had this problem serviced four or five times. Each time replacing various parts... the last time pretty much replacing EVERYTHING INTERNALLY.The service techs admit this is a problem, due to the dual compressor KitchenAid tried to do with this model. Even store salespeople admit it didnt work and has been changed. Well, enough is enough. I want a new refrigerator, not a replacement, not any more service calls. But, I have been told that I need to wait until it fails again, then call customer service again to report the problem. Someone will have to come out again and assess the problem... Should I just leave the rancid food in there for them to take back to KitchenAid with them once they come? Come on KitchenAid... read the file. Its all there in black and white... every single service call. Time to fess up and fix the problem, with a NEW refrigerator.

I wish I had read reviews here before we bought our stove! We have a 2003 KitchenAid (KGSC308LSSO) -- $1400 and change. It has fussy controls and hard to clean; Ive never liked the thing. The self-cleaner stopped working years ago; weve just lived without it. Then last week the stove was preheating to 350F, and the inner glass window spontaneously broke. My husband called it in; gave them the model number and all other information.Today I have to take a half day off of work. The usual response, well come between 1-5 PM routine; around 3 PM a repairman called to say he would be coming by to look at the stove, and put in an order for any needed parts. What the **? We need a window. Its going to cost me half a day of work, plus the cost of a service call, or two calls, to have some guy who sounded pretty incompetent on the phone tell me that we need a new window? No more KitchenAid in this house.

I purchased three appliances from KitchenAid - a dishwasher, gas range and a microwave. The microwave died and I had to buy another brand. The dishwasher had to have the panel replaced within a few months of use (fortunately under warranty then). The gas range KAID KSGA906PSS00 has had nothing but problems. The “Gas probe on” message problem is perennial even though I never use it. I have to reset the fuse switch off and mimic the probe as if I was cooking. The control panel died last year and I had to pay $303.45 to get it changed. Now a few months later, the oven does not shut off; I get the Cooking complete message which refuses to go away and I have to reset the fuse switch. Perennial problems - paid a hefty amount on this set of KitchenAid junk. Wish I had chosen another brand.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher broke down after eight months. They replaced the water pump, which took three weeks. Two months later it broke down again. They replace a circuit board and water pump again, but still did not work. They again replaced the third water pump with no luck. The technician thinks it may be a wiring harness so now we are still without a dishwasher and are waiting for that part. By now I am asking for a new dishwasher from KitchenAid but they insist that my warranty only covers parts replacement and will continue to replace parts until they deem it necessary to replace. Dealing with customer service has been a very unpleasant experience. I have vowed that I will never buy another KitchenAid or Whirlpool or Frigidaire appliances again. We are now looking at replacing the dishwasher at our own cost.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

Our story is similar to everyone else. Our first fridge broke three days after it was installed & had to be replaced. A month ago, something else broke. We finally got parts after three weeks for a broken filter system which caused our fridge to fill the shelves & drawers with water. After two weeks of waiting, the authorized service company flat out lied about not ordering parts after I had contacted corporate to have them expedited. (If you buy the warranty, do not expect any type of respect or sense of urgency. The warranty company does not care & does not hold authorized agents accountable.) Long story short, the fridge was fixed today, but still no icemaker, only water & now the freezer has stopped working & a loud fan noise can be heard through the first floor. Called warranty repair, they said they could come out Nov 27th... Buyer beware. #kitchenaide.

We went with the KitchenAid suite of appliances because we liked the reviews we read about the dual fuel double oven range (KDRS505X). I like my oven a lot....except the cooking surface scratches so easily! How am I ever going to clean around the burners when it seems the surface scratches when barely touched. Our microwave hood (KHMS2040) had turned out to be a terrible choice. The vent fan is horribly loud. Service came out to look at it about 3 weeks ago and determined we needed a new motor. (That wont come for another 3 weeks). This past weekend, the fan AND microwave suddenly turned on by itself. The microwave light came on and the turntable started turning. And it was louder than ever. We couldnt turn it off by pushing the cancel button or the fan button. Finally had to unplug it. Now we are afraid to leave it plugged in. What if it turned on by itself and we werent home? Scary.

I purchased 30 KitchenAid gas convection oven which was delivered on January 3, 2013. On 1/14/13, service was required to replace igniter (oven shut off during baking). On 1/23/13, service was again required to replace burner (oven shut off during baking). On 3/13/2013, service was required to replace control panel (oven wouldnt shut off). On 3/25/13, repair again required (control panel again. Oven wouldnt shut off). On 3/28/13, control board needed to be replaced. On April 4, 2013, I had to order UI and harness connector. On 4/8/13, I replaced ribbon from UI to main control. Unit now is shutting off but is still beeping randomly in convection bake. Orvilles Appliance in Amherst uses DC Appliance to do their repairs. DC Appliance has been wonderful, trying to repair it. I went to Whirlpool product review on 4/8/13. On 4/23/13, DC Appliance arrived again to repair range. They turned off during baking again. Another control board was installed. When service technician was finished, the range started beeping again but it was too late in the day to speak to Whirlpool tech support. DC Appliance called Whirlpool tech support on 4/24/2013 and was told we would be contacted by Whirlpool on Monday, April 29th, to arrange replacing our range. Monday came and went. So Tuesday, April 30th, we called DC Appliance, who called Whirlpool. The story changed. Suddenly, they had no record of the conversation with DC Appliance about replacing the range. Today, May 1st, DC Appliance called us to say they had the names of the two individuals they spoke with regarding the replacement. We were told to wait until Friday to hear from Whirlpool. DC Appliance said they cannot give us the names of the tech whom they spoke to or the person above that tech who made the decision to replace it. We paid $1,447 plus tax for this range. On top of that, we paid an additional $139 for a 5-year extended warranty. We are getting the runaround. We have been patient. Whirlpool and Orvilles had been nothing but nasty. Please help.

I purchased a new KitchenAid model KUDL15FXSS5 for a house I moved into in
I purchased a new KitchenAid model KUDL15FXSS5 for a house I moved into in January of this year. It was professionally installed and seemed to be operating properly when I ran it with normal load of dishes. The dishes did not come clean. There was food still on the plates and silverware. Soap was still draining from the detergent tray. I was perplexed. To give some background, I had been living across the street from my new location for 2 years in a house with the same water supply (main), using a 10-year-old dishwasher, using the same Cascade liquid detergent (recommended brand), getting great results. The only new variable is the dishwasher. I tried again using the ProWash cycle, same results.I added the recommended rinse aid, same results. I took out the dishes and washed them by hand. I then tried the dishwasher again with another load of dishes, still not clean. I ran the sink water until it was hot then tried again, still no improvement. I went online to the KitchenAid site and submitted a detailed problem report but never received a response. I finally called KitchenAid, went through all the call center questions and set up a service call. The technician spent about 30 minutes running through diagnostics only to tell me that everything checked out. He suggested the problem could be hard water or my detergent. When explained that Ive been living in the neighborhood for two years, his comment was, Well, they dont make them like they used to.I asked about the heater since it seemed to me that the water never got very hot. He indicated that energy star compliance has reduced the heater output to the point that it may impact cleaning performance. Long story short, Ive used KitchenAid products for 40 years. They were a good brand. Current product performance is not acceptable. The company does not seem to care. I guess Ill go to Goodwill and try to find a good used one.

We remodeled our kitchen in Aug. 2018 and bought matching, higher-end KitchenAid appliances to replace all the old ones. Nine months after installation, the upper rack in the dishwasher (Model #KDTE334GPS0) collapsed due to failed spot welds on the left-side rail. The welded areas were also very rusty. Luckily, the 1-year warranty had not expired yet and we were able to get the part replaced for free. But today the same top rack rail broke again due to the same failed spot welds! The weld sites are covered with rust again, just like before. Since the dishwashers warranty has expired, we will have to order the replacement part and fix it ourselves (for $44 with shipping) or hire an appliance repairman (not cheap). Ive had much less expensive dishwashers that lasted 15 years with no problems, including rails that that never broke. I would never waste my money on an overpriced KitchenAid appliance again. Maybe they should stick to stand mixers (mine is still working after 27 years).

I purchased an existing house with a KitchenAid Superba stove/cooktop and microwave combo. Everything worked fine for 6 months until I got the crazy idea to use the self-cleaning mode. The oven no longer heats now. I tested the heating elements and they are both fine. I found out that it is most likely the thermal shutdown fuse, a part that runs about $45-$50 online. I can do the replacement myself but as many others have said, I wont use the self-cleaning mode again. For those who cannot afford the cost for a service call, its a pretty easy part to replace - if in fact that is all that went bad during the self-clean. After reading the hundreds of the same complaints out there, I guess I feel lucky that my oven didnt literally explode and possibly hurt my 3 year old. I would be willing to join in a lawsuit, should a lawyer out there be interested.

Installed new 3 weeks ago. Convection microwave vents out the front. There is SO much hot air coming out, that the oven door handle is too hot to touch without a potholder, not to mention how hot it makes the kitchen with all that hot air!! It also shut off twice during the cooking process. Not sure if it overheated or what. Repair person replaced part that will hopefully fix the shutting off issue, but KitchenAid has no solution for the hot oven door handle. They have created a part that redirects the hot air coming out of the regular lower oven that makes the warming drawer handle too hot, but nothing for my situation. Very poor design!!

We purchased a KitchenAid (R) 5-Burner Gas Freestanding Double Oven Range 4 years ago. Almost from the beginning, we have had problems, particularly with the controls. We have had to replace one, or possibly two (cant remember) of the handles, three times, all at our cost. They simply were stuck and would not turn. However, what is more of concern is that the controls will turn to the on position simply if I brush up against one of them. Oftentimes I will hear the click, click, click that alerts me that the controls have turned on but have not ignited. However, frequently, there is no click; I am just alerted to the fact the stovetop has turned on when I begin to smell gas. This seems to me to be a major safety issue. I have talked to the company, to no avail. They tell me its out of warranty and I would have had to address this issue within the first year. As these things go, I cannot remember when we first experienced the problem. I suspect I probably thought it was just a fluke at first and did not think much about it. But, regardless, I would think KitchenAid would want to assure that no one experiences a major gas leak due to their faulty equipment.

Kitchenaid Gas free standing range. I always thought Kitchenaid was a dependable brand. I believe this range cost us $1700. I liked that it had convection oven and that the grates on top covered the entire top so no matter what size pan or griddle you used it did not wobble. This range turned out to be the worst range I have ever owned! The repair man knew us by name including our dogs! The other terrible thing about it is we had to order this range and had to pay in advance of receiving it. Purchased at Westar in Tucson Arizona. The range did not come in for 5!!! Months.AND to make matters worse our warranty started from the day we ordered it! Kitchenaid policy! I went on facebook and wished I had done that before the purchase because there were literally hundreds and hundreds of complaints. When I suggested we all get together and start a class action law suit Kitchenaid blocked me from posting on their wall. I will NEVER buy a Kitchenaid again. My advice would be stay away from Kitchenaid. They are not what they used to be. You pay alot of money for nothing!I now research completely before I buy any appliances. I take my time, I ask around. Sometimes the less expensive brands are 100% better. It took so long to get this range that after my complaining weekly (because every week they said it would be in that week) they finally gave me a GE use in the meantime since I had NO range. The GE they loaned me was a $700 range but after finally getting the Kitchenaid I realized the GE ran circles around the KA.

Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

Beware of this company. Unfortunately Kitchen Aid /Whirlpool contracted with company. Cheap unprofessional, poor service and absolutely no customer service. Had tech guy from Field appliance. His name was Steven. Came over my house. Already complaining that he was an hour late because of his GPS. He proceeded to look at my refrigerator and say he wasn’t sure if it was a thermostat. He went outside and called whirlpool. Spoke to the tech named Bruce. Came back inside very frustrated and angry that he had to take my refrigerator completely apart. Therefore the evaporating system was behind my freezer panel. Took apart my entire freezer. He then complained that he told whirlpool this was not going to work. It was a waste of his time. Stephen then proceeded to re-put my door completely together while I was on the phone with Kitchen Aid to put a formal complaint because now he wants to change my motherboard of my refrigerator. When I came out of my bedroom he already packed and was ready to leave. I checked my freezer door and my door does not align correctly. Call him back into my house to fix it. He looked at it. Said he’s not fixing it. Find another tech. Gotten his vehicle and left. This is poor customer service. He then proceeded to write a fabricated report that I was aggressive and use foul language. Thank God I did record this gentleman. This gentleman is nothing but an habitual liar. Then I had tech-support Steve from field appliance supposedly a manager. Don’t know what they think a manager should be but the customer is always right, I felt this guy was not listening to a word I said. Apparently they must get a lot of customer complaints. I proceeded to tell this gentleman the story of what happened and told him that his tech was completely a liar. He continue to protect his employee and told me to call Kitchen Aid. Like I said no customer service. Very unprofessional. Poor service and fixing. I don’t think their techs know what they’re doing. They’re just second-guessing everything. And just want whirlpool to keep paying them to come out to keep fixing parts and pieces. Now I have an ice chest that doesn’t slide open and close and my door is completely off alignment. Just beware of this company and stay away. It’s a shame to Kitchen Aid now subcontract to this company that’s two hours away from our destination. Very cheap labor, cheap customer service and low quality work. Beware!

I have been purchasing KitchenAid thinking about high reputation of the company. I bought all my KitchenAid appliances (refrigerator, gas range, microwave, dishwasher) at PC Richards 15 months ago. We are the family of two adults, so you can imagine that we use this dishwasher twice a week at the most. However, after 15 months of such rare uses the dishwasher failed. I rinse off the dishes every time before running the cycle but for the past couple of weeks all the dishes are not clean at all after even running two cycles. I tried to resolve the issue by calling PC Richards but all they told me that the service technician will cost me $125 to evaluate the problem. Bought all new matching stainless steel KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, microwave/convection oven) about one year ago and have been very disappointed with the lack of quality and performance in the stove and refrigerator from the start. Thought KitchenAid was a top brand but obviously not any longer. The pieces look sharp in the showroom but buyer beware! The stove - glass top scratches easily, requires extensive cleaning/buffing after every use, the self cleaning oven feature really does not work at all, takes forever to preheat the oven. The refrigerator - cheaply made vegetable bins that fall apart (front panel comes off), water filter needs to be replaced almost monthly. The dishwasher is the only appliance I have no major complaints for. Very quiet and does a good job on plates, glasses, and silverware (wash pots by hand). I regret not updating the GE Profile appliances I replaced with this purchase.

Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

Kitchenaid dishwasher broken for 2nd time in 3 years. Weve had a repairman out once already at a cost of $200 to fix an electrical problem with the control panel. I watched him as he reconnected some word, and got the power to return. Worked for about another year and its broken again. Obviously, the front sensor panel is defective. Ive never seen such crap. My old Maytag which just wore out after 14 years, was replaced with the KitchenAid which consumer reports was the most reliable. I have to have another expensive repair technician, who from the looks of things, is equally incompetent. I learned this from a previous repair on my refrigerator. Until they sent out a guy with 20+ years of experience, it wasnt fixed right.

We started having issues with our KitchenAid dishwasher, KUDS301XBLO, potscrub light staying on just after the one-year warranty was up, but we were able to reset it. Then we noticed the dishes were not getting clean and the potscrub light was staying on. It will not even complete a cycle. We have only had this dishwasher 1 and 1/2 years. I called to ask about the 2- to 5-year warranty that covers all parts of defective equipment and was told I had to pay $129 service call for them to come and look at it, then I would have to pay for parts. I was offered to buy an extended warranty for $259. That seems like a lot for a dishwasher that cost more than $800 a year ago. I have been reading that the control panels have been malfunctioning and starting fires. I am very upset that this higher end dishwasher is less reliable than a $400 one. I have also read that the manufacturer is aware of this problem and has failed to recall this product.

Ive had a KitchenAid dishwasher for 5 years. In March, it stopped running. And after some debate, I finally got KitchenAid to pay for parts (the control panel) which were covered under warranty. One week later, the control panel failed. And again, KitchenAid replaced the control panel. Today, the control panel failed again. When I called KitchenAid, they refused to replace the faulty part. Apparently, the warranty expired 2 days ago. Even though the part or parts have been faulty, they refused to replace them. At this point, I am better off buying a new unit, because the same thing will probably happen again. Oh, Ive been paying for all the labor charges each time it breaks. Plus, the KitchenAid microwave just broke too.

For $3000, I expected more out of a KITCHENAID refrigerator. I had to wait 6 weeks for this thing and only to last ONE DAY? Unfortunately I purchased all Kitchenaid appliances, otherwise I would switch to another brand. Lowes has the option to repair, BS, this is going back and I am ordering another.

We have had a #kitchenaid fridge for 2 years now. The service techs from #PoirierSalesandService have been here at least 4 times. Each time I asked that they replace the fridge, and each time they elected to repair it, stating that my fight was with KitchenAid, not Poirier, despite the fact that they sold it to me. We recently noticed a leak coming from the fridge that has now damaged our cabinets and floor beyond repair. The technician said that theres a crack in the drain pan which you couldnt have caused, meaning that it has been there since the fridge was installed. We have an 7 month old baby girl, and now have mold growing from where the unit was installed. Poirier has at least agreed to file a claim with their insurance to address the cabinets and floor. This is however, apparently of no concern to Kitchen Aid as they have told me that replacing the unit is not an option. I urge all of you reading this to not buy from a company like Whirlpool/KitchenAid, who clearly disregards the well being of their customers, for the sake of profit, and as such chooses not to stand by their product, post sale.

The store where I bought it immediately exchanged it. In less than a month the freezer in the new refrigerator went down to 6 degrees. Someone came to replace a part. It was defrosted and plugged in again but has not gone past 6 degrees. I have lost a lot of money in food and KitchenAid will not reimburse. Well, it started in October and finally, on April 1st (a coincidence?), I found out the part for my oven (replaced once before) was no longer manufactured and they could not find it. I had been promised on 6 separate occasions the part may be available (such fun having Christmas with no oven). It was a litany of no return calls to update the status of the part. The response: Were an incoming call center; we cant make outgoing calls. Hello?! - Its the 21st century. They did offer to pay for the part if I could find it on my own - of course; Ill do your job for you and on my time! As further compensation, they offered me 15% off the purchase of a new unit - once I supplied the invoice. Provincial taxes are 13% in Ontario - so big deal. I will grant you the stove is 10 years old and gently used, but is built-in obsolescence just the way it is? I feel terrible about sending a unit of this size to scrap when a dependable part was all that was required. I have gifted many friends and family KitchenAid products under the apparent fallacy theyre built to last. Never, ever again.

We did a gut rehab kitchen remodel in 2012. Consumer Reports magazine pointed us to the best refrigerator and other appliances (virtually all KitchenAid). Everything (layout, space, ice maker and filtered water) was great with the refrigerator for 3 years. In late August, 2015 we started seeing water dripping from the freezer door onto the floor. Fortunately not hardwood flooring, but wooden cabinet enclosure got a bit wet and is damaged. Bottom line - after a couple of hopeful attempts assuming it might be the ice maker or the high humidity, the problem persisted and we called the dealer for repair. I asked the tech if hes seen this problem and he honestly answered Yes, a lot. He explained that the part to fix it would be free of charge, and that I would need to pay $164 for the service call. To the dealers credit, I was told on the phone that the minimum for a service call is $164. With this fresh info from the tech whos working on the refrigerator real time, things recalibrate.... If a manufacturer has a lot of the same problem happening, the product should be recalled and owners notified. From there, repairs should be gratis. While the tech was still at the house, I googled the problem and see many youtube videos and write ups about this problem which is a small black rubber check valve that gunks up and then backs up water into the freezer. The floor of the freezer becomes a mini skating rink, and when theres no room left for water down there, it leaks out the front of the freezer. I called the dealer while the tech was still at the house and plead my case. They did call back and agreed to pick up half of the service call. They tried KitchenAid and were unsuccessful. A couple days later, I called KitchenAids large appliance customer service and they stuck to their guns. The rep gave me the usual apology said theres nothing he could do. I asked for his supervisor. I waited a few minutes and finally spoke to a woman who listened, said sorry, and then when I asked for her manager, she refused to pass me up the line saying that she was as far as I was going to take this. $82 isnt the issue. Customer service or lack thereof, and a corporate decision to let the consumers be guinea pigs to figure this wet mess out for themselves is what frosts me. I wonder how long before I have a wet floor beneath the freezer again. Consumer Reports or not, Im done with KitchenAid, its products, and its affiliated companies.

Called Sears Appliance Repair who diagnosed the control board as having to be replaced. We ordered the control board which took a week to arrive. The Sears repairman then said he could not service the unit because Sears did not want to be responsible for future repairs that may be required. Apparently problems with this unit is well known. I bought a KitchenAid DW and am very dismayed by the lack of information regarding this bizarre drain line. I have installed several dishwashers before and never had any issues as this. The drain line seems to be long enough if you could unravel it from their mountings on the side of the unit, which apparently are not to be removed? I still have no clue. I had to butt together 2 drain lines with a 3/4 nipple and 2 hose clamps to connect the 2 soft ended hoses together, seems wrong but impossible to get any facts. Some say remove the hose from its bindings, which looks impossible to do safely, or butt connect 2 hoses jury rigging it like some Ethiopian setup, not happy!

Upper rack was over designed with too many moving features causing inherent weaknesses in plastic components. One year after use started the first plastic tabs started breaking. Without buying a whole new rack there was only one option. Had to figure out stainless steel bolts and nuts to replace broken tabs. Tedious but do-able. I believe most people (probably 95%) do not adjust the racks anyway because they are complicated to adjust. Why build things that break? Just keep it simple! Otherwise this dishwasher works great. It is very quiet and washes well. Clean look. If they would make the upper rack as simple as the bottom rack it would be bullet proof. But no, the Kitchenaid engineers and marketing people had to complicate it by putting in breakable features most people do not use. Thanks for messing up an otherwise great product. Now figuring out my fourth set of bolts to keep the upper rack in place and gliding like it should.

Purchased KitchenAid undercounter KDTE204DSS at Best Buy 12/2014 - used 1-2 x weekly. Great machine: good drying, no spotting, relatively quiet & clean dishes! Bottom rack occasionally left track when pulling out by corner rather than center. Paid $700 at Best Buy [in package deal with other appliances] $20 kit & was told this model would last minimum 8-10 years so I didnt purchase $159.00 Geek Squad extended warranty.10/2018 [after 4 years light duty] started making grinding and whining noises. Called Best Buy and they referred me to KitchenAid, who then referred me to local authorized KitchenAid repair service. $125.00 just to come out and diagnose, but could be applied to repair if applicable. After tearing entire machine apart [literally removing from under counter, unscrewing panel & interior components, detaching control panel & parts all over my kitchen] service tech needed to make several calls to his company before finally announcing that it was the *computer* that was shot - which would cost $450.00 to replace. At this point, without any warranty on the rest of the machine - it didnt make sense to repair. KitchenAid helpline was polite but could do nothing to help me. Dilemma is Id prefer to move to Bosch, but most reviews say KitchenAid dries better and I do not want mildewy odor. You buy the whole 5th unit for just pancakes only! The self-cleaning oven will not clean the sides of the oven, only the pan over the burner. The little top oven is meant only for warming, not baking or cooking because it cooks so unevenly that toast, food and cookies are done on the glass side and burned on the back side. I have had KA service people out twice and they say that thats the way it is and that it registers 350 degrees when checked. I could have bought an oven for less than 1/2 and had a better oven. Im a commercial dishwasher repairman. My 10-month old dishwasher failed, dead, no lights, nothing. I checked the power and performed troubleshooting steps, determined the problem was a bad control board. I called the folks who sold it to me. They did not have a control board in stock. I asked that they bring a board with them so they could fix it with one visit. They said no, they could not be sure the board was the problem. I was going to have to wait 5 days (including Saturday & Sunday) for them to show up between 1 and 4, and then have to go through another wait until they were able to get the part. I am not very fond of washing dishes by hand, so I called around and found a parts place that could have the part by the next day (Saturday). The part came in and I installed the part, which fixed the problem. I called the dealer and canceled the service call and asked if it was possible to get any credit on the part. They said no, but I could call KitchenAid. I called KitchenAid this morning. No luck, it did not matter that Id saved them two service calls. It did not matter that I had taken the risk for the cost of the part if my diagnosis had been incorrect (with electronic parts, once the box is open, you own it). After speaking with Shari and David (a supervisor), KitchenAids policy is inflexible. If a customer touches it, they dont warranty it. In addition, they refused to send someone out to inspect my work or to confirm the board was bad. Im very disappointed! Heck, if they had offered to split the cost of the part or even to give me credit towards my next KitchenAid Appliance, Id have been thrilled. Instead, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth.

However, in the past 8 months the control panel has gone out THREE times! At $150 for the part, and another $150 for service call and labor to replace it, it has reached the point of absurdity. I highly recommend trying a different brand. Hearing this noise drives me nuts and I cant wait to replace the unit which will happen much sooner than it would have with a refrigerator that works the way a normal refrigerator works.

Salesman assured me that this was a wonderful stove, etc., etc. so I was suckered into buying it. Soon after the purchase, I used the oven... and SURPRISE - the stainless-looking knobs heated so much that I couldnt touch them! Customer service told me that this is normal and even professional chefs have to use oven mitts on certain stoves. (Can you believe that!?) After several calls, I finally got a rep. who sent me black knobs that are made of more heat resistant material. (I wasnt charged for them, so that tells you that they wanted to keep me quiet). That should have clued me in on this product. After approx. 2 months, one of the circuits went out and had to be replaced. My biggest complaint now is the dirty inner glass of the oven door. I called customer service and was told that since the appliance is more than a year old, and out of warranty, they will have to charge me a service call for their technician to clean it. The woman told me that this is common for this particular range!! (Again, can you believe it!??) I told her that this is a design flaw and there should be a complete seal to prevent this. She disagreed, saying its been like this for over 17 years!! NEVER BUY A KITCHENAID! Read reviews and take them seriously... I wish I had!

I purchased all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances in October 2009 from Bad Boy in Whitby. I also purchased the Gold extended warranty. I noticed about a week ago March 24, 2015 that the bottom of the fridge (model: KBRS22KVss1 and S/N KY3628480) has a crack right in the middle coming out from under the deli drawer. I called Bad Boy but of course the extended warranty expired in December 2014. I then checked the warranty in the KitchenAid manual but it expired the same time. I have never in all my 62 years seen or heard of a cracked liner yet in the manual it states it will pay for replacement or repair of the refrigerator/freezer cavity liner if the part cracks due to defective materials or workmanship. Just on the off chance I called KitchenAid....Due to the age of the refrigerator there is no warranty but they can send a serviceman for $89.00 for the first 15 mins. I talked to the parts department to get an idea of that cost and the liner is not a replaceable part but they do have a patch kit. He could not tell me how much that would be or what it consists of as its a service kit and hes not a serviceman. Beware appliances are made to last 5 years only.

Bought a new side by side with ice maker from Sears in Feb 2012. By July noticed my floor was swollen and wet. Called the tech out. It had a crack in the water valve so it had a slow leak for months. The tech said he never sees these crack. Told me to call Whirlpool. Did, they told me to call Sedgewick which handles the insurance claims. Then Sedgewick told me they couldnt do anything because I didnt have the broke part. How is the average consumer suppose to know to keep it? The tech took it with him. How nice for them. Sedgewick told me to call Whirlpool back. Did, no answer. Had to leave message. Did that twice. Then I went to Sears, said they would look into it. Havent heard a peep. Needless to say have to turn it into my insurance for the 6000.00 damage to the floor you can see, doesnt include the sub floor that might be damaged or the mold that might be under there. This has been a ongoing thing for over a year. Never again will I buy anything Whirlpool or Sears. Customer service is awful. Now 2 of the knobs on the stove I bought at the same time will not turn. No quality built into these products!!

First there was leaking from the freezer and ice building up in the bottom. Ordered part but before we could replace it, unit quit cooling. Repairman said the electrical board was out and sadly there were no replacements. So all the people with this unit basically have to replace them because there’s no part replacement. Makes no sense!!!! I thought Kitchenaid was top of the line, I guess not.

Superba YKEBC107KM - 2 issues; Door hinges seized and new thermostat blew after one self clean. 2 authorized repairmen failed to fix my door hinge problem. The 2nd guy said it would be $600 parts & labor in addition to the $150 service call that left my oven torn apart! I ordered new hinges and receivers from Partselect.ca and installed them myself. All good. I thought it would be smart to replace the 12 year old thermostat while I had the unit out. The replacement thermostat blew with the first self clean cycle. Partselect sent me a replacement which I just installed (now Im a pro at working on this unit!). I suspect the part is NOT at fault. Its more likely the lack of ventilation in the cabinet space to dissipate the extreme heat created during self clean. The thermostat is actually working properly. It senses the operating temperature has risen beyond what the components can handle and shuts it down. Unfortunately, this solution is not prioritized by manufacturers and technicians. The feature is what sells more units. So its true; more bells and whistles doesnt necessarily mean better! KA will not give consumers any insight into repair of their products. It is a racket that insulates the manufacturers through the technicians, financed by the consumer.

KitchenAid Model #KUDS30IVBT, 4 cycles, 6 options Architect SeriesII. I researched to find a dishwasher with a few upscale options at a reasonable price ($700). I also wanted the silverware rack separate & not built in to the dishwasher itself. This gives me heavy duty, normal, light/China & rinse only options. I also have a Pro scrub for those dirty pots & pans, a Sani-rinse, a high temp scrub, heat dry, and a 4 hr delay.

Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid large appliance. I will not deal with a company that refuses to stand behind its product.

The ice maker has only worked on and off for a month out of the 11 months I have had this appliance. After four visits for repair and two door replacements at a cost of $1700.00 a door x 2 $3400.00 for door replacement alone not including a water valve replacement and labor for four trips, my ice maker still does not work. I asked a supervisor for a refund for my defective product. Was told they had to go through repair process. It would have been more cost effective to refund my money!! Still no resolution! I read a post where someone said their KitchenAid fridge had finally broken
I read a post where someone said their KitchenAid fridge had finally broken down after 15 years and that it served her well. Major appliances used to last decades, and still should last that long. Think about how much you pay for them 15 years is nothing. Our fridge has a pull down bin in the door that pops open every time we open the door. Even with nothing inside, rendering the space useless. Plus, the bottom of the freezer pools with water which then turns to ice making it impossible to close the freezer door. So far I have had to unplug it and thaw it out five times. If that sounds like nothing, remember you have to put all your groceries somewhere. Tonight instead of enjoying the beautiful summer evening, I made many trips up and down the basement stairs bringing groceries back into the fridge. My oven is also a mess. The knobs get so hot that my friend burned her arm on them. I cant imagine how this passed inspection. NOT SAFE if a toddler was around. Thats okay because she was in the middle of a remodel and was considering my oven until that happened, and I filled her in on the rest. Also, the back panel on the stove is made of resin! I thought it was stainless in the store. So needless to say it is peeling. I guess that is the reason they had the stupid idea to put the smaller burners in the back and the mega burners in front. So much fun trying to reach over a large pot of boiling water to stir a small saucepan in back. Does KitchenAid have third graders designing their appliances??? Clearly not someone who has any knowledge of a cooks needs. I will never purchase anything by KitchenAid ever again. Not even a can opener.

Our dishwasher is 3 1/2 years old. 4 of the 7 sections of the silverware baskets are useless because the bottom plastic grid has disintegrated. We replaced the motor last year because of plastic debris. I called KitchenAid after leaving a message on their website that was not returned with a response. Today I called and talked to 4 different people. The first one couldnt help me with a replacement unless I bought a new one; he transferred me to another but her computer wasnt working and she transferred me to another who took the info again and put me on hold. Another person answered as if I had not talked to anyone and offered to sell me a new one. I told her I thought KitchenAid that they should replace it and I had photos to prove my claim. She hung up on me. The total time was almost fifteen minutes on hold. So, I guess Im out of luck and will NEVER purchase KitchenAid or Whirlpool (who bought them) ever again.

We purchased a KitchenAid counter depth refrigerator Model #KRFC300ESS03 about 1 1/2 years ago. When the water filter needed to be replaced, I could not find the product and could not get the old filter out. After a $75 service call, I learned that the filter model numbers had changed and the instructions for removing the old filter in the manual were wrong. I also learned that you had to open and close the doors a certain was to prevent the seal from cracking (not mentioned in the manual). The seal is cracking, plus the door handle has come loose and cannot be tightened. KitchenAid just sent me a warranty solicitation, and for $387.95 I can get a one year extended warranty on the fridge, which cost $1,799.99. Seems too high to me and I just wish this was a better product.

We purchased a KitchenAid SuperBa double oven KEBC207KSS05 a couple of year
We purchased a KitchenAid SuperBa double oven KEBC207KSS05 a couple of years ago and have had it repaired 4 times already. Two times because the control panel went out because it got too hot the repair person said. The fan became very loud and we had to replace that and the fourth time was because the upper oven stopped working but the lower oven still worked. Since the fan was replaced, the oven still makes the control panel get too hot and everything totally shuts off. After it cools down, the panel comes back on. Cant bake anything over 375 degrees it appears, or it shuts off. One piece of advice from the repairman, besides not using the self clean is to cut a large rectangle out of the side of the cabinet and put a steel vent cover over the hole. I shouldnt have to cut a part my cabinet in order to have this crappy oven work better. The double oven we had in before the KitchenAid was a Kenmore from 1992 and still worked perfectly and never gave us a lick of trouble. Now we need to scrap this one and look to spend money that we shouldnt have to. Its so hard to believe that the workmanship at KitchenAid is so bad. Where is their pride?

Bought this refrigerator 6/13/12 after home power surge destroyed our other KitchenAid refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY. We were very happy with the first one so decided to buy another, counter depth side by side. We had no problem the first year but shortly after the warranty expired, had an issue with hose connecting to freezer. After they realized it was a faulty part on the hose, they covered it. We have a wood floor in our kitchen so that also needed to be repaired. Thankfully, I decided to purchase the 5 year Extended Service Plan. We have used it three times, so far. We discovered water accumulating in bottom portion of the refrigerator and called service plan. In April, 2017, had the drain unclogged in fresh food side. Today I pulled out bottom drawer to find the same thing happening. It also had a lot of black mold on side of drawers and refrigerator. (I took lots of pictures). I set up appointment to have repair service come out to fix clog and also to check on why mold is appearing (probably related). Extended Service plan seems very responsive so I would recommend purchasing it.

We have had numerous problems with this ref. First was the ice dispenser dropping ice onto the floor in the middle of the night. The repair could not see how this could happen. The door closed properly when he examined it. Second, water evaporation on the top of inside wall of the refrigerator. This was repaired at no cost. Third, the loud noise of compressor runs constantly. Repairman said it was probably air in the waterline. Fourth, finally the loud noise of the compressor is driving me nuts. At any rate, it would never be this brand again when I do buy. So frustrated and so disappointed in this washer. You think you are paying more and getting a better machine, what a joke that is. We purchased a new KitchenAid KSC23C8EYY for $2600 at the end of Jan. The ice maker didnt make ice for the first 48 hours and then the water started coming on but not shutting off. This happened at night so we didnt notice it until the morning. This filled the freezer with a frozen waterfall of ice and spewed water all over my new kitchen floor and under the new dishwasher. I called Western Appliance to have them replace it since it was brand new and now was covered with ice. They had to send a tech out before they could/would do anything. So I waited 2 days and the tech said a valve was bad. They had to order it. Western Appliance finally agreed after much angry conversation to replace the refrigerator which they had to order. That was another 3 days. Now, 2 months later, the water dispenser and ice maker stopped working. The first tech from A&E that came out had to call Whirlpool service and they recommended that he replace the wiring harness that he had to order, 10 more days! The second tech from A&E that came out said it wasnt the wiring harness and found that the coil inside the refrigerator was iced over. He said to unplug it for 24 hours and it would fix everything. He said that we had left the door open and that was what started the whole thing. Well, this refrigerator door slams shut if you leave it anything less than 90 degrees open, so it is not at all possible that we left the door open. I told the tech that he needed to find the problem that was underlying the frozen coil before I would agree to unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours thawing out all of my food. He said that was what the Whirlpool Service Center was recommending.I called KitchenAid service again and explained my concern and told them they still needed to fix the problem. They agreed to send out another service company. J&H came prepared. They brought their own towels, a cup to test the water dispenser, a floor protector, and a steam generator to defrost the coil. Yipee, someone who actually knows what they are doing! They diagnosed that the two thermistors that defrost the refrigerator and freezer were drawing different voltages. They are ordering parts and should have them in 3 days. Hopefully this fixes the problem. Im not sure that I would go the KitchenAid route again. But I understand that Whirlpool makes KitchenAid, Kenmore, and a few other refrigerators so I dont know how you get a refrigerator that wont have the same problem. I also understand that Samsung and LG have way more issues from the 5 technicians that I have talked to in trying to get a working unit.It seems like a lot of money for something that has had this amount of problems in the first 3 months of purchase. I guess this just reaffirms the old adage, Buyer beware! It sucks!

I purchased my second KitchenAid in 2005 since we were renovating our kitchen and wanted the counter depth model. I already had a KitchenAid that I was happy with, though it was only 2 years old. Within 18 months, the ice maker stopped working in the new one. We didnt replace it right away and we just used the ice from our other one, which was now in our basement as a second refrigerator. We finally had a new ice maker installed in July 2009 at a cost of $200, parts plus labor. Again, 18 months later (with a 1 year warranty), the ice maker stopped working. We went 2 more years without fixing it but finally did on February 27, 2013 at a cost of $242 when we needed it for a large family gathering. It broke again last week, June 20, 2014. 1 year and not even 4 months from the install date. It was suggested by the repair company that there may be a recall and I should call KitchenAid myself. After speaking to a customer service rep and then her supervisor, I was told they only warranty it for a year. Period. I explained that there was obviously a defect in my refrigerator, but that didnt seem to matter. They would have a service person come out for the usual fee. Meanwhile, my 11 year old other KitchenAid has started freezing food - but guess what? At least the ice maker works!! So unless you want to buy two of them to work as they should, I would buy another brand.

Email to Trail Appliance: I meant to email you earlier but weve been away. All appliances are in and look great. Were just wondering though if a support might be missing from the fridge. Ive attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. The shelf above the two crisper drawers seems to be missing a middle support? Because as soon as you put any items on it, it really sags in the middle. You can see the glass shelf separating from its white plastic rim and then gap between two crisper drawers getting wider at the bottom. Are we missing a piece or is there anyway to fix this? It seems such an obvious flaw. Trails response: I have checked both units on the floor and neither have a little support... so sorry... It does seem odd that it does not though. My last email to Trail: So what are our options? I must say every time I open the fridge door - what I see (that sagging shelf) is unacceptable. I thought we were upgrading our 17 year old appliances - but it appears not, and Im sure that anyone else who has bought this fridge would be experiencing the same issue. So just wondering what my options are? Does KtichenAid stand behind the supposed quality (or lack thereof) of their products or are we on our own? And what about Trail Appliances? Where do they stand on selling crap (pardon the harsh language) like this? Suggestions? Waiting on response to this last email - but would NOT recommend buying this fridge for this reason.

Bought a KitchenAid dishwasher (Mod KUDS35FXWH8 Ser F24801339) and clips holding the top rack on its rails broke within months of purchase, causing top rack to partially or fully collapse very often. Been living with this for the past several years. Too much spent and too much hassle to replace, as Id have to break tile to replace the unit. Very disappointed. Done with KitchenAid, as if a fairly premium model uses cheap plastic that cant support a top dish rack with normal use, then I have to question the quality of the entire unit. My thinking is that if they do not have the right people, process and engineering sense to add .05 to the cost of key parts in a dishwasher that would allow it to endure at least an average life without breaking, then why should I trust that they would have skills and sense to make the rest of the unit last an average life. KitchenAid made an extra .05-.10 cents on my purchase and lost potentially hundreds or thousands of future customers as a result. Word of mouth, bad online reviews, Consumer Affairs notice... will lead to this. KitchenAid: time for a change.
