On August 13, 2012 we purchased a French door refrigerator made by Kitchen Aid. 10 months later we were seeing water running down the inside door from the ice maker. I called the company and they sent out technician to fix it who didnt seem like he knew what he was doing. He made several phone calls to ask questions about the repair. After he left my refrigerator was working properly so I was satisfied. Meanwhile, my neighbors were looking to get a new refrigerator and loved the look of mine so they purchased the same model. Months later my neighbor called me complaining of water leaking from her ice maker. They had to have it repaired but then a couple months later she told me their freezer stopped working and they lost hundreds of dollars of food. She called Kitchen Aid to come repair it for a second time. My husband and I went on vacation and we returned home to find our freezer stopped working while we were gone and lost all of our food. When I called Kitchen Aid they informed me I was two months past my warranty and since I didnt buy an extended warranty (which I didnt think I would need to on a fridge that cost almost $3000.00) there was nothing they could do. It could be repaired but at my cost. After a very heated discussion and much screaming on my end about their inferior product I got them to agree to fix it at their cost. I am sitting here now while a repairman is here and he is running dye through the lines to find the problem. He has informed me that it will be at least a couple of weeks until this is fixed. Meanwhile I have no working freezer and have a family to feed. I called Kitchen Aid again to see if they could do something and the womans response was there was nothing they could do and she actually suggested that I leave food in a friends freezer! I googled complaints against Kitchen Aid and was shocked to say the least. It seems they are known for these problems and customer service is not their strong suit. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance again and will tell everyone who will listen about my experience.

The stove is only two years and old and when the self-cleaning cycle was run for the first time. The thermostat burned out mid-cycle and the unit shut down and the door was locked. The repair cost $213.45. Based on what I have seen online, this is a common problem with KitchenAid stoves. Since it was no longer under warranty, they wouldnt cover the cost. This appliance should be recalled!

Like most of the other posts, we have had to replace the rollers on the track of the upper rack 4 or 5 times now. The dishwasher doesnt always clean our dishes well. Often I have to rerun certain dishes a 2nd time to get them clean. A huge disappointment. I would never purchase a KitchenAid product again. This is the single worst purchase we have ever made for our home.

Terrible service, terrible appliance, bought the Kitchenaid French Door Stainless steel fridge. Initially doors rusted, blamed us, replaced one door then stated if it happened again it was due to our climate??? Both doors are now rusted and it constantly leaks. Repair man said typical of this fridge due to cooling system. He suggested defrosting and keeping fingers crossed. Great philosophy! Now the ice maker no longer works and it leaks out the front every 3-4 days as the cooling system ices up. Called Sears, called manufacture, no one is interested now that the item is purchased. Worst appliance ever purchased.

We purchased all new appliances when we remodeled our kitchen in Aug 2017. The refrigerator quit making ice in Jan 2019. I had a repairman come out and replace the freezers fan motor. That fixed the problem, I thought, but now the ice cream in the freezer is super soft. It costs $115 for the repair guy to just come out to diagnose the problem. The last issue cost me almost $400. Now I have to have the thing looked at again. We purchased all KitchenAid appliances because we thought they were able to last with fewer repairs, guess we were wrong. The refrigerator was a major purchase but to need to call out for repairs again is unbelievable.

Purchased this unit in 2010 with an extended warranty. The unit died in 2012 and was able to get it replaced because of the extended warranty. However an extended warranty was not offered to me on the replacement. The replacement was installed in November 2012 and failed to heat anything in 2015, approximately 2 1/2 years old. I called KitchenAid and spoke with their representative in Tennessee, I explained that this was the second microwave that failed in a two year timeframe. The lady was not very helpful. All she wanted to do was sell me a warranty or I could pay to have a technician come out and look at it. She advised me complaints on defective manufacturing are based on Service Technician calls since they did not have any for this Model then there is nothing wrong with it. I asked her why would 2 of the same units fail during the same time frame and KitchenAid would not recognize that something is wrong with the unit. I told her I could buy a microwave for less than $100.00 and it would last longer than this model. She told me I should have bought an extended warranty. Apparently I am to blame because I did not get an extended warranty from them for $329.00. At this point she stopped listening to my questions and proceeded in a very loud voice which can be heard clearly from 3 feet away that KitchenAid stands behind their product and there is nothing wrong with that Model microwave because there have not been any complaints. I told her to search the internet. If KitchenAid sold quality products and stand behind their products why would there be a need for an extended warranty. Very, very poor customer service. Therefore if you buy a KitchenAid appliance buy a very long extended warranty because their items are not cheap and the warranty is not cheap also.

Our KHMS155L KitchenAid microwave would just turn on by itself. Luckily, the two times it happened (twice in two days), we were home. I cant even imagine what kind of damage could have been done with it, on and unattended for a long period of time. My husband called the KitchenAid Customer Service number in our manual. He was told that he would have to pay for the part and labor (over $200). I then read through this website and called the Whirlpool safety line at 1-800-331-7456. No problem. They mailed me a new panel and set up a local service repair. No charge to me for parts or labor. Thank you, Whirlpool!

Model # KUDL021RBS4 - As two retired old folks, we use a lot of paper plates and have used our expensive all stainless dishwasher no more than three times a month. It was purchased from Lowes 2007. A month ago, the LEDs on the control panel started flashing. Wife called KA and they connected us to a tech. No problem, he says, change the circuit board. No problem, I say. I build computer up from parts. Ill change out the part from Whirlpool. The washer worked once and the lights started flashing again. Washer wont run. The internet chat line person knew nothing about that. He sent me a copy of what was included with the owners manual that doesnt reflect the actual model. Question is, do I waste another $250 with further service calls and parts or do I buy a disposable one for only $247 and give up on those pretty premium expensive disposable appliances? Samsung did me wrong, now Kitchen Dis-Aid. Why pay more? Whats the point?

I too purchased all KitchenAid for my new home. The double oven does not regular and overheats. The dishwasher does not clean well and never has, has had to be repaired already. Exhaust vent with microwave does not remove steam from cooking. Stove top has not been bad yet, knock on wood. Side by side Refrigerator what a joke. As other reviews stated the interior was not designed by anyone who works in a kitchen. I had the repair man out to fix my dishwasher and he noticed the frig was making strange noises. What nice guy to even mention it, he stated they were having problems with them, got the frig fixed for free. One year later, upper frig not working. Kitchenaid, Whirlpool, your product sucks. Come from small community but Big family, I am ashamed to state you are an American made company. Will never buy them again! Also fridge is a stainless steel exterior, did not know stainless steel could rust. Consumer beware!

My Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUDS3o1XSS4 Bought for $753.14 is three years old. It was working fine until the wheel to the top rack broke in October. I called the warranty department as I have a warranty bought for $127.37 just to discover that the warranty would not cover this kind of part even though I cant use the machine without it.I ordered the part through Marcon company for about $46 including shipping. I was told the part is in backorder (it is being manufactured). They had no idea when it will be there and I am in line because many customers have ordered that part. It took me hours on the phone with many customer service people - some were careless and some were sympathetic. Finally I got the part after more than a month after talking and begging the supervisor to help. Three weeks after the the other wheel broke today. I placed the order for another $44 dollars. This machine is a piece of junk. I am totally disappointed with Kitchen Aid. I had one before and lasted me nine years without real problems. Based on that experience I bought Kitchen aid again. But not any more. The parts are made of cheap plastic that will break all the time. Not sturdy enough to hold cups and glasses, the service is bad, the warranty does not cover any of the interior parts not the racks or the wheels or knobs or grates or shelves. They call them non functional parts, though without the wheel you cant use the top rack as it will fall.I tried to call the manufacturer to complain but I was waiting on the phone forever and no one answered the phone. I cannot afford losing time on top of losing money.

Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator in Jan. 2013 for 2,500. Fast forward to Feb 2017, freezer defrosts food overnight. Freezer full of food lost. Next fridge no longer cooling. Call local appliance repair company. Comes out same day! Informs me he is unable to repair issue and advises that it is a recall issue and provides me all recall info. Well, calling Whirlpool customer service was the worst customer service I have ever received. After 2 calls and 2 hours later, finally got an appointment booked for a tech to come repair issue, but was told this repair would be at my expense as Whirlpool disputes the fact that this is a recall, even though I had the service point number quoted to me by a qualified repair technician. Regardless refrigerator needed repair. Was told I would receive call from agent evening before appointment date. No call. Appointment window I was given was 9am-5pm, by 2pm not even a phone call yet. Called CS line again and was advised no tech would be coming out to my home. No sympathy at all from any agent I dealt with, in fact, found them all to be extremely rude!! Next available appointment not for one full week. Was told they will not provide any compensation! Worst experience ever. Will NEVER recommend KitchenAid to anyone nor will I ever purchase another KitchenAid appliance in the future. So disappointing.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator 2 years ago. The quality is amazingly poor. The flange on both crisper drawers broke during the first year. KitchenAid was kind enough to send replacements. Unfortunately they are the same design/same materials. Next the housing that covers the water filter broke off during the first filter change. Now, at two years, we have the plugged defroster drain that seems ubiquitous with these refrigerators. We shut the refrigerator off for a day with a small space heater directed at the drain in an attempt to thaw the thing out. No luck. Water still leaks down into the bottom of the freezer and eventually drains onto the floor. Weve had more problems with this unit than with every other refrigerator weve owned over the past 40 years - combined. Such a disappointment. KitchenAid use to make a quality product. Now their Kitchen products need constant Aid.

Installed new 3 weeks ago. Convection microwave vents out the front. There is SO much hot air coming out, that the oven door handle is too hot to touch without a potholder, not to mention how hot it makes the kitchen with all that hot air!! It also shut off twice during the cooking process. Not sure if it overheated or what. Repair person replaced part that will hopefully fix the shutting off issue, but KitchenAid has no solution for the hot oven door handle. They have created a part that redirects the hot air coming out of the regular lower oven that makes the warming drawer handle too hot, but nothing for my situation. Very poor design!!

We bought a KitchenAid stainless steel stove, dishwasher and fridge in February 2018. The fridge began to show rust spots within the first year. We followed all advice to treat and prevent them but they still occur and at this point, the fridge looks awful. I can only assume after all our efforts that the quality of the stainless steel in these appliances is at fault, and would not recommend this brand. I also find it odd that this issue is not covered by warranty. If something is sold as stainless steel then I expect that it should remain so as long as I am following the manufacturers instructions.

So dissatisfied with my Whisper Quiet + dishwasher that I sought out this forum to warn others not to purchase a Kitchenaid. We have owned this dishwasher for quite some time, and while it has been relatively trouble-free with regard to repair issues... it does not clean dishes! The ancient, used dishwasher previously owned offered far superior cleansing than this model EVER has. Tonight we are again pulling dishes from the machine to hand wash them, and this has been the norm since its installation. Such a disappointment... we used to think Kitchenaid products were high quality. I own 2 mixers which are great. This dishwasher is terrible (as was a pricey Kitchenaid blender we subsequently gave away). We have followed all recommendations offered for best operation to no avail. If I could afford to replace this model... I would in a heartbeat (widowed). Another deficiency is the long run time. A washing cycle takes well over an hour, and afterward most of the contents still require hand washing. Needless to say, when I can replace this machine it will not be with a Kitchenaid.

Following Mr. **’s purchases of these appliances, all stainless steel Whirlpool branded appliances, rust quickly formed on the stainless steel facades. Mr. ** first reported the rust-damage to Tri-City Sales (262 Highland Avenue, Salem MA 01970) in July 2012. Tri-City arranged for L.A.R. Appliance Service (103 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA) to visit on 01/08/12 and inspect the appliances. (Apparently L.A.R. is subcontracted by Whirlpool to do local service visits.) The L.A.R. service technician told Mr. ** and his wife that he would order a complimentary replacement door for the range. However, upon noticing that multiple appliance doors had rust damage and were in need of replacement, the technician telephoned his office for advice, and was in turn referred by telephone to Whirlpool’s corporate representative who instructed him to refuse repair/replacement of Mr. **’s rusted new appliances. The L.A.R. tech informed Mr. ** that Whirlpool instructed that because the damage was cosmetic, it would be denied warranty coverage. He thereafter gave Mr. ** Whirlpool’s customer service telephone number, 800-422-1230. Mr. ** called the number immediately. After an extended wait, an incoming telephone call handler answered. Mr. ** explained that he had purchased these appliances to furnish a new kitchen and had simultaneously purchased a washer and dryer also manufactured by Whirlpool, which had a white rather than stainless finish and had sustained no such similar damage. Mr. ** stated that apart from the function of the appliance, the stainless finish was an aesthetic part of the design and therefore an integral part of the product which had failed by rusting. Mr. ** received in return a long winded reply amounting to a nominal apology, thanks for the feedback, and a statement that the rust damage is not Whirlpool’s problem and that all warranty coverage of this issue would be denied and Whirlpool would do nothing to cure Mr. **’s dissatisfaction.Mr. ** asked to speak with a supervisor, and was eventually transferred to one. The supervisor suggested a special “cleaner” that replaced “the lost oil” (to which he apparently by analysis over the telephone attributed the rust damage) and stated that provision of this cleaner is all Whirlpool is willing to do to address Mr. **’s concern about his new rusted appliances. Mr. ** explained that if oil had indeed been lost, and so rust damage was commenced, then the products were defective. Mr. ** rejected the customer service supervisor’s offer of a bottle of cleaner to repair his $6,000+ worth of rusted appliances, repeated his points of concern, and made a plea of his loyalty to the Whirlpool brand and requested that the company’s customer service team answer his concerns, and resolve this matter amicably. The supervisor again rejected his pleas but this time curiously modified the rejection with “at this point.”It is not clear what point Mr. ** has to get to in order for Whirlpool and/or KitchenAid to agree that it is not reasonable to expect customers to endure a home full of rusted appliances approximately half a year after new purchase. However, at this point, Mr. ** is disappointed that the warranty for these items has been repudiated and that KitchenAid/Whirlpool refuse to stand behind their products. While Mr. ** and his family were willing at the time of the service visit and telephone calls to accept replacement of the doors to these appliances (perhaps with a facade other than Whirlpool’s stainless steel), due to the stonewalling the company has subjected him to, he has retained me to defend his rights in this matter.Mr. ** did not receive any clear and conspicuous warning prior to purchase of these expensive appliances of an obvious substantial risk of rust damage to Stainless Whirlpool appliances. Nor are any such warnings included in advertisements for Whirlpool Stainless steel appliances. Were any such warnings made clear to Mr. **, he would not have made these expensive purchases. Accordingly, KitchenAid/Whirlpool’s policy regarding the concealment of the significant risk of rust damage (of which service technicians and customer service representatives have clearly been aware) constitutes a deceptive trade practice. In KitchenAid/Whirlpool’s failure to honor it’s warranty or to reasonably address Mr. **’s concerns, the company has committed breaches of warranty, the federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, the Uniform Commercial Code, Massachusetts’ lemon law, and unfair business practices and other consumer protection laws. Accordingly, Mr. ** demands that his appliances be repurchased. Besides being sent directly to you, this letter is being submitted to the Better Business Bureau and to other Consumer Protection sites. Additionally, if swift action is not taken to repurchase these appliances, Mr. ** has instructed me to take all action necessary to enforce his rights including without limitation the filing of a lawsuit. Should this action become necessary, I will seek on Mr. **’s behalf all rights and remedy’s afforded to him by the law, including the payment of attorney’s fees and civil penalties for willful violation of consumer protection laws as may be appropriate. We hope for a swift resolution of this matter without the need to enforce the law and ask for a response to this claim within the next fifteen (15) days.

I bought the Kitchenaid KDTE404 (architect series) dishwasher for $900 and had it installed by company who sold it to me. The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, but installer/company repaired it within a week. The rack system is crap. Has plastic inserts with ball bearing. Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. Next repair gets it booted to the side walk.

We bought this dishwasher a KitchenAid KDTM404ESSO s/n f52302835 last year July 2nd because of the reviews. It was a higher end dishwasher and had great write ups. The dishwasher leaves residue on everything. We called our sales company Home Appliance in Brunswick, Ohio and they told us it is probably clogged. I checked it, it was clear. Called back and they said you are using too much detergent. I asked for a contact number for a rep for KitchenAid and only got the factory phone number. In March or April the motor quit working. We called and they came out and confirmed it and ordered the motor for a warranty replacement. I told the service man about how it doesnt clean anything completely and he said you cant use Cascade. Cascade is what they recommend in the papers that come with the unit. He recommended some other brand which we bought and it still didnt clean the film off all the dishes. He came back out and explained that we were stacking the dishes in the dishwasher wrong and that the bottom rows had to be facing each other and took the top silverware tray out for us (you cant fit 12 dishes in with this in, the wash arms hit it). We did a load with him there and they came out cloudy. He said, Oh, you have to do sani rinse with your wash cause the new dishwashers dont use any water. I said, Thats great but then we would be up to almost two and a half hours to do a load. His reply was that is the way the new dishwashers are, meaning live with it. I would understand a lower end dishwasher doing all this stuff, but this was a $1200 plus installation dishwasher. We do not want this unit anymore at all. We made a mistake thinking it would be as good as our KitchenAid mixers and it isnt on the same planet.

Kitchen Aid does not support its own product but relies on unreliable subcontractors. After already waiting for repairs for two weeks, now we are told the parts are not available. I bought my french door bottom mount refrigerator in 2013. I have started having issues with the freezer and ice maker. The technician who came to check the fridge told me that this is a very common problem with KitchenAid. We have to pay $390.00 for labor and if the parts are not covered in extended warranty pay for that too. Our extended warranty ran out in 2018. We were also told that the dye leaks and it will have to be replaced every 4 or 6 months. I am annoyed at the expense this fridge is going to cost us. I called the appliance pros for KitchenAid and they did not help in any way. They are very rude and nobody knows anything there. They went on telling me, “We dont know how things work in Canada.” Well why then are you selling appliances in Canada. They know how to give customers a runaround and beat about the bush. I would not recommend this fridge to anybody. Please buy a fridge by a company which stands behind its product.

Awful customer service. Scheduled a replacement this week but failed to keep appointment. Got a few hours notice. Theyre giving me another new one. Have told them this is the last one. It took me a few seconds to notice the glow under the hood. By then it was too late. The vent fan was on of course, which only increased the intensity of the filter fire. The hood and microwave were totaled by the heat.

We bought KitchenAid thinking it was a good product, but it is NOT! We have had the refrigerator repaired twice in the first two years. Both times it was the same problem. Luckily it is under an extended warranty but I am worried about when the warranty ends. The stove front has discoloured three times and has been replaced three times. The replacement was not even the same colour as the original. I will NEVER buy KitchenAid again.

After reading the above comments, I should have thought twice about buying a KitchenAid. My ice dispenser stopped working. I had purchased the extended warranty and the repairman replaced the motor but discovered it wasnt getting any power. The user interface had malfunctioned, and guess what? The factory in Japan that made them isnt doing so anymore. Sounds familiar? My money for the warranty was refunded and I was told I was basically out of luck. After many phone calls between KitchenAid and the warranty company, I contacted the CA Better Business Bureau. There is a Civil Code 1793.03 that requires manufacturers to provide replacement parts up to 7 years after purchase. I filed a complaint with them, but was told I should contact an attorney to see if it would be worth taking them to court. The problem occurred less than 3 years after I purchased the refrigerator from Sears in 2010. I thought I was buying it new, but according to the warranty company, it was made in 2008. In short, avoid buying appliances from Sears and stay away from KitchenAid!

Tonight at 5:45 pm the inside glass of my KitchenAid Superba built-in electric convection single oven exploded with such force that the glass shot across my entire kitchen and into my dining room. I had the oven on and was baking fish at the time. Luckily, my baby had just moved from her usual place on the mat in the kitchen or else she would have been utterly disfigured and seriously injured by the explosion of glass. I immediately phoned KitchenAid and they said they could send a technician on Thursday, January 5, 2012. The technician has just phoned to say he would just replace the glass and that this happens 100s of time a week and there is no guarantee that it wont happen again. When I asked for some certainty that the oven would be safe, he said he wasnt the designer and it wasnt his role to tell me that the oven would be safe in the future, then he said he refused to do business with me and put down the phone. I am appalled. We escaped lithely this time, but there is no way I am prepared to let it happen again. I think everyone should know how unsafe these ovens are. KitchenAid needs to withdraw these ovens from sale and, for me, they need to return my money so I can go in search of a different oven. I will once again be phoning KitchenAid to find out what they will do about the situation. I phoned Trail Appliance Edmonton South but they said their technician will phone tomorrow. They, however, did not seem to realize how serious the situation is. Does a child or someone has to be seriously hurt before something happens to have this oven removed from sales?

Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased
Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased new KitchenAid Proline KUDE40SPX3 to match our Wolf/Sub-Zero equipment. After several months, we noticed our cabinetry adjacent to the dishwasher was starting to warp and peel paint. We initially believed that the cabinetry was defective. Then one evening, our little 3-year-old screamed in horror from the kitchen. She had a burn on her face and said the dishwasher did it. We then noticed the steam coming from the side vent of the unit. The louvers are positioned so that the steam under pressure is directed downward. However, since the vent is adjacent to the kitchen cabinetry, the steam not only hits the cabinetry but is directed in front of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers have the vent at the top of front door lip, which directs the steam up and away from the front of the dishwasher. I notified KitchenAid Customer Service. Their first response was that the unit was 1 month out of warranty and they referred me back to Pacific Sales where I purchased an extended warranty. Pacific Sales extended warranty department stated that the defect was a manufacturer defect and not an electrical or mechanical defect and directed me back to KitchenAid. KitchenAid then agreed to send a service rep out and would cover any parts and/or labor to repair the defect, including any venting kit. They also said that the manual has a disclosure about the side venting; however, I pointed out there is no such disclosure and no special instructions with regards to steam being emitted out the side/front and being a potential hazard to children and surrounding cabinetry. KitchenAids factory repair rep came and observed the defect and notated such back to KitchenAid. Then, KitcheAaid took the position that it was not responsible since it was no longer within the 12-month warranty period.

Bought the range in March of this year for my mom. The salesman said the KitchenAid was a good brand (upper middle market), it has good looks, and a large oven. What he failed to mention is that they typically last 3-4 weeks, and you shouldn’t use them for cooking or they may get damaged :(. Within days of use enamel started falling off in the oven cavity - very dangerous when it lands on food, a couple months after the plastic door trim started peeling off and lately the cooktop scratched. We are extremely careful with all our appliances, we still use our green Admiral stove from the 60s and it is mint condition - I don’t understand how the KitchenAid stove can be so poorly built. I thought I was getting better value but in hindsight I should have gotten the basic GE stove. In conclusion, I do not recommend the stove, unless it is for display only, you are better off getting one at Goodwill.

Our stainless steel, French door, KitchenAid refrigerator is a year old. The ice cube maker stopped working, so we had to have a service person come out. The diagnosis is that the ice maker broke, due to ice build-up. The part is under warranty, but the first service charge is $189.00 and they have to come again after the part is ordered. How can they charge to fix a part that is still under warranty that broke because it is defective? I will never buy from KitchenAid again.

This is a $1,000.00 latch-less machine. I replaced the latch, strikes, and door cords, several times for all. Junk is the best description for this product. KitchenAid has a problem. They have never revised any of the replacement parts. I hope this helps some people look at other brands, I know I will!

KDRU783VSS-48 in dual fuel range - My 2 1/2 year old dual fuel convection range with steam assist (48 in) caught fire and was non-repairable. I was baking in the smaller oven when I heard a pop. Black smoke started pouring from the front of both ovens. Upon opening the smaller oven door, I saw flames up around the broil elements (I was NOT broiling at the time). My husband commented that it smelled like an electrical fire. We proceeded to cut off the power to the range. Smoke still poured out. We then heard the sound of gas burning off inside the oven (I was NOT using our gas stove top at the time). The stainless steel outside top and sides of the oven were burning hot to the touch. The control knobs were so hot they had become gummy/tacky to the touch. With no end in sight to the black smoke pouring out and the extreme heat OUTSIDE of the oven, we called the fire department. They cut the gas off to the house. The firemans hand-held temperature reading gun (Bullard Thermal Camera) measured over 250 degrees atop the range and along the back wall behind the range. Firemen said had we not been home, the back wall would have caught fire and this would have become a rescue call.KitchenAid sent a repair person to look at the oven. Deemed not safe enough to repair, the spark ignitor box inside was melted, wires crystallized, touch screen displays melted, wall plug charred and melted. After many lengthy calls and emailed pictures, we were given 2 options: get a replacement unit only by paying a participation fee of $2500 or get a prorated refunded due to age of unit (2 1/2 years old). We opted for the partial refund, as this unit is a FIRE HAZARD. To get a different brand, we still were out several thousand dollars, since we were not offered a full refund on a faultily designed range. Funny, because 8 WEEKS later when I finally had a different brand installed, the installer noticed my old unit had steam assist. He said he had replaced 3-4 other KitchenAid models that had burned up - all with steam assist. No one at KitchenAid could tell me anything. There has been no recall. BEWARE: This unit is poorly designed and is a fire hazard!

It is the top of the KitchenAid line at that time. It is the standard KitchenAid Superba from 1993. It has a black, shiny front with chrome control buttons. I have owned this dishwasher for a very long time. I have had one service call on it. I hope it lasts forever! The newer units are said to be less reliable and not as good at cleaning. I purchase a KitchenAid Built-in Microwave Model KMBS104ESS02 in 2017. In January of 2020 it wasnt heating and of course our warranty was no longer valid. My husband has worked on microwaves before. He tested the Magnetron, Diode and High Voltage Capacitor and purchased all three new and installed in March of 2020. It worked for approximately 1 1/2 months and went again. He purchased the same parts again on May 20, 2020 costing another $263.27 totalling $526.54 to repair. This lasted through June. He called KitchenAid and was told that it is probably the motherboard and too expensive to replace just get rid of it. So we paid approximately $1,000.00 for the microwave new and spent $526.54 on repairing totalling $1,526.54 and was told to get rid of it. Great customer service response. My husband was so upset he threw it out and purchased a new Frigidaire for 1/3 the cost of the Kitchenaid. How sad is that. I am attaching one of the receipts from May 20,2020 cannot find other receipt. My husband pick up parts from Appliance Parts in Old Bridge NJ in March.

This refrigerator is an expensive $9000 built in KBSN602ESS00. It is a replacement for another KitchenAid of the same size. I have had 4 service calls hoping for a tech that can stop the loud, disruptive shaking, rattling noises this unit makes. It is so loud it can easily be heard in the next room where I watch tv. I have spoken to Kitchenaid numerous more times hoping for a solution.Besides the loud ice maker filling with water, the obnoxiously disturbing loud noises from ice cubes dropping, the compressor humming loudly at two different speeds, this built-in makes a sound like metal being shaken and rattling. It can make this noise 6 times in 20 minutes. It does it in the middle of the night, during the morning, every time water is being added to the ice maker. Even if you push the ice maker arm into the off position, this refrigerator still makes the shaking, rattling noises. It wastes your time with tech appointments. Whats worse is Whirlpool apparently tells techs its a water line moving problem. Two techs have told me the noise is internal to the refrigerator. Each tech has called into Whirlpool for a solution, yet that expensive, disruptive unit is still sitting in my kitchen. It has also had temperature control issues. Thirty-four degrees is the coldest setting for this refrigerator. It does not always maintain this temperature on its shelves though. It also has the capacity to drop the freezer to -15 F. That wasted a good portion of my day. Waiting for techs, 4 times has wasted another 4-hour blocks I had to fit in to still be left with this disturbing refrigerator. The salesman quit working for the store I purchased it from about a month after the unit was installed. A second salesperson assured me she would contact Kitchenaid. I have heard nothing back.

We had this oven range delivered in early December 2019. By Dec 26, the inside top oven enamel had shattered. Our 48 refrigerator has been down for 30 days. They no longer make the CPU to repair it. It took 2 visits to determine this by certified Kitchenaid partners. 2 weeks to file a report and get a call back for a prorated exchange of $6500 to replace our 6 year old unit with a unit that is new but an Old Version. We have now been trying for a week to get the person responsible for our case with no response to move forward. Its now been a month without a refrigerator that cost us 9K to be offered a unit at their cost without any consideration of what we have been dealing with all this time. They are even willing to offer us the newest version of their unit. All together this will end up costing us 15K for a unit that should last more than 5 to 6 years or at least should have parts for them to repair it. This has happened twice, with the last time two wheels fell on to the heating element and burned up. A week later the burnt smell is still in the machine. Whirlpool, who makes this, said this is not considered a hazard because even though it burned up the plastic wheel, it did not cause a fire. A ridiculous answer! We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 22 12552 last November. We are two seniors and we dont use the machine daily. So to our surprise, on Oct. 2, the machine went completely dead. No power. I called Sears and a technician came out and ordered the whole new board. We are waiting for it to arrive, but so far hasnt. Sears says its up to me to trace it and to call them tomorrow before 3 to tell them if the part is coming. This shouldnt be my job. I dont trust this machine, I want it replaced, to which Sears says no. It would be fine, but purchase the insurance for $150. This is a heck of a way to run a business. The machine is a lemon and should be replaced. Years past, I had a KitchenAid for 15 years without a service call, and now this unit isnt a year old and is having problems. Its up to the consumer to purchase insurance to keep it running. What a rip-off. This guy at Sears, Carlos, isnt working for the company--only Sears. Where do we have a consumer right? It doesnt wash completely and a huge residue is left on all the dishes. You cant look through the glasses.

The broiler element on my KitchenAid range (Model No. KGSS907) came on by itself and stayed on. I was in the living room, and the first I knew was the smell of burning. Not only did it come on, I couldnt turn it off, the control panel being non-functioning. To stop it, I had to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, nothing else worked. Now I am afraid to leave the range alone. This is a big problem since I travel a lot. I was recently away in Europe for a month. Can you imagine what could have happened if the stove came on during that month? Normal practice for any controls designer is to make sure that any failure goes to the off position, but that apparently that does not apply to KitchenAid. Does anyone know of a recall?

We were warming some food in our KitchenAid upper oven when it spontaneously started the self clean cycle. It locked, and we were unable to open it. We called 911 and the fire department was sent. We turned off the circuits to the oven. The oven proceeded to incinerate the meat and started a fire, with smoke coming out of the oven. The firemen arrived and broke open the oven lock, and took out the incinerated meat. When we turned the circuit back on, the lower oven signaled that it was too hot to use. When we called Kitchen Aid, they were unhelpful, repeatedly placed us on hold, sarcastically told us that they were glad that the house was not burned down and offered to pay for an inspection of the oven, but insisted that we would be responsible for all parts and repairs. I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2012 for $$$. So you know I had a Kenmore for 22 years that this KitchenAid was replacing and I actually sold the Kenmore for $50 because it still worked perfectly. I figured KitchenAid was a top of the line appliance. Ice maker went out within 13 months and after several calls I got them to cover parts and labor to fix it, but thats not the complaint here. Fast forward to 2016. In May 2016 the whole unit shut down and after several calls into CS found out it was my sealed system that went out and it was covered. It took a while to get my money back though. The day before Christmas 2016 my refrigerator went out. Long story short, I called the authorized KA service provider to come back out and they told me it would $450 to repair (again, 3rd major repair in 4 1/2 years while the 2nd major repair in 2016). After receiving the estimate I called KitchenAid CS to talk to them about this but their systems were down and couldnt help me and told me to call back the next day. Not thinking because I had a house full of kids on Christmas break from college I figured I would call back once I got back to work this week. Once I got a hold of someone from KA she told me KA would cover the parts only which I was ok with. She told me she would call the authorized repair company and get it worked out. I told her I already had it repaired because I had gone a week without a refrigerator anyway. KitchenAid wont reimburse a customer, just an authorized repair company. What a piece of ** company. Every time I contact KA they tell me the same thing. Appliances are meant to last forever and they never promised me that. I have another 20 year old GE refrigerator in my garage thats worked perfectly that whole time and I spent like $500 on it. This was my first and MY LAST KitchenAid/Whirlpool purchase.

They sent one of their service people out to inspect the machine today. He explained that the machine was built without a vent fan. I was not aware that dishwashers had vent fans, but I am also not an appliance mechanic. He said that I need to leave the door open and run a cycle of vinegar through after each use. So, I need to use double the water and double the electricity to get one load of dishes done. Not to mention, trip over the open door each time I walk into my kitchen. My questions is... if there is no proper ventilation then I have to assume that mold and bacteria will ultimately become a problem (if not already). Why has no one from KitchenAid thought about this? Ultimately, this is a potential health hazard. All this time I think my dishes are clean when in fact I am just washing them within a dishwasher full of nasty things that can potentially make my family sick. Im glad I dont have infants anymore. Can you imagine sterilizing baby bottles in this piece of crap?! I am still working with KitchenAid to resolve the problem. We will see how this goes. I can say for sure that Sears has been awful, no help whatsoever. Customer service very very rude. I will NEVER purchase another appliance from Sears, and after reading all the horrible reviews, I will never buy another KitchenAid. I am also having issues with the top rack. I have to hold it in while I load the bottom rack. Very inconvenient.Updated 5/30/2016: Just an update to my previous (5/24/2016) post. As I feared, KitchenAid customer service has been no more helpful than Sears customer service. I was told that theres nothing that can be done about the foul smell in my dishwasher. I have been committed to having a piece of crap dishwasher. In the meantime, I am writing letters to the CEO of Whirlpool as well as all the board and committee members. Perhaps if others do the same, one of our letters will end up in the hands of someone who cares. If you do a Google search of CEO of Whirlpool, the leadership page for Whirlpool will come up. On this page are the names of Whirlpool administration; including Jeff Fettig CEO. The address: Whirlpool Headquarters 2000 N M-63 Benton MI 49022-2692.

Our 7 year old KitchenAid Kss42QMSO1 side by side started chirping, the internal control panel lights were flashing and we could not adjust or control the temperature using the buttons. I first called the Kitchen Aid HELP LINE (that is an oxymoron). Talking to the fridge would have been just as helpful and all they were interested in doing was dispatching a service man, when he showed up we were advised that it was the control board # W 10219463 that had failed. When I asked the cost to replace it he advised that it was no longer available because the factory in Japan had been destroyed by the Tsunami. This was two years ago, and this huge company had done nothing to create a new supply?? Can you imagine Toyota or Sony using that excuse? Our only option was to send the control board to Chicago for repair and have the fridge / freezer out of commission for 3 to 4 weeks, also we had to sign some kind of a liability waiver. I thanked the service man and advised I would get back to him, then I started to surf the net and after some time I came across this web site and thankfully the blog from Chris in North Van. I live in White Rock and if I knew your address I would drop off a very good bottle of wine on my way to Whistler. Thank you, after reading your info I asked the service man to come back and remove the board. However he said he was prevented by Whirlpool / Kitchen Aid from doing this unless it was sent to Chicago. I contacted another excellent service man who is independent and had him do the removal. I would say unless you are very mechanical you would be better to go this route. He also advised that it was often the evaporator fan that caused the circuit board malfunction. Once it was removed I found it to be exactly as per the photo from Chris. I was able to locate the capacitor from SMI Industrial Electronics in the nearby suburb of Langley, it is a 22ouf 10X12 HI TEMP CAPACITOR 85 o and cost the princely sum of 36 cents (I even purchased a spare). I then took this to an electronics repair man who tested and removed the defective capacitor and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes, he would not even accept any payment. I would advise that unless you are used to working on circuit boards and have a very fine tipped soldering iron I would use an expert, even if he charges you. It would be easy to short out the wires with too much solder. I took this home and the service man came back and installed the circuit board and a new evaporator fan which for some reason is a stock item and in about 1/2 hour the fridge was humming, no chirping and we were able to set the freezer for 0 F and the fridge for 37 F. The temperatures both initially read the 70 F air temp. but started to fall quickly and a few hours later we heard the first ice being made and everything is working just fine. Our total bill including the fan was $260.00. Thanks again Chris, and like you I am amazed that the so-called help line would not advise of this. I am fairly certain our first service man knew of this option because when I told him about the info from Chris he was not the least bit surprised. He probably would be blacklisted if he went against the companys policies. Good Luck!

I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher less than two years ago and have been extremely unhappy with it! Model #KDTE334DSSO. My 17 year old dishwasher cleaned the dishes better than this one. I used to use environmentally friendly dishwasher soap but had to go to a heavy strength brand now. The plates fall down in the dishwasher (I recommend taking plates and trying them before you purchase any dishwasher) and now I have all of these little rust looking spots all over the front - which naturally is not covered under the extended warranty!! Terrible appliance!!!

KitchenAid model KUDE70FXSS Dishwasher - Bought this unit in 2011. Out of the box, the control panel never worked right. I would frequently have to reset by unplugging and re-plugging the machine to get it to work. 3 years in, the control panel died and was replaced by the appliance store under an extended warranty. The top rack wheels have broken off twice and been replaced. Bottom rack wheels have broken off once and been replaced. Top rack after 6 years is peeling and rusted. Dishes will not clean completely unless you wash them first (kind of defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher) and the prowash cycle takes forever to run. All this time my wife has said, “We paid a lot for it and we will make it work.” FINALLY last week, a rubber spatula fell on the heating element and burned badly... stunk up the whole house. After days of fighting trying to get the burnt smell out unsuccessfully, I got my wife to agree to get rid of it and buy a new dishwasher.... It is NOT a KitchenAid. All that is left now is to get rid of the stove and refrigerator (yeah the stove/oven dont work much better).

Purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for a kitchen remodel. The dishwasher overheated in less than a year. A service repairman from the manufacturer replaced the control panel. It worked fine until it was 2 years old. Then it stopped cleaning. I tried working with my extended warranty at this point. One repairman said it needed spot remover (which I had only recently run out of). I disagreed, as the dishes were greasy with food particles left on them. A 2nd repairman replaced the control panel. Still had dirty dishes. They replaced with new control panel. Still had dirty dishes. Then the pump stopped working and you couldnt turn the dishwasher on or drain the water. At this point I had been without a dishwasher for 2 months & was tired of service calls with no results and hand washing all my dishes. The store where I bought it wouldnt replace the appliance & said it was up to the appliance repair to say it was broken...& couldnt be fixed. The appliance repair said that it was up to KitchenAid customer service to make that decision. Customer service said that the appliance repair had to document that enough repairs had been made that it would be cheaper to replace. The appliance people wouldnt do that. I called back the store, the appliance people & the warranty company & tried to get them to work together... with no resolution & ended up buying a new dishwasher...different brand, of course. I wouldnt leave a bad review for KitchenAid, but this dishwasher cost me $800 and a $2,000 KitchenAid refrigerator purchased at the same time has been leaking since it was a few months old. Ive had it 5 years...still leaks & getting the same run around with the store, Kitchen Aid customer service and the extended warranty. No one will take responsibility for their poor products. I do like their stove top and double oven combo, though.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator just over 1 year ago and have been having issues with the ice maker since about month 10. I just dont understand how consumers are left holding the bad end of the stick with products that are sub-par when we purchase in good faith and even purchase extended warranties. I was asked when I called for service of the same issue for the second time in about a month, if I had called the manufacturer to inquire about the issue. I quickly responded that this is the very reason that I purchased a 3-year extended warranty and that I consider this to be her/the companys job to investigate and find out and not mine. I suggest before anyone purchases a major appliance to do a considerable amount of research to find out the good, the bad, and the ugly about the product. Otherwise, you will spend a lot of time being frustrated.

I remodeled my kitchen in 2004 with all new beautiful stainless KitchenAid
I remodeled my kitchen in 2004 with all new beautiful stainless KitchenAid appliances including a built-in $5000 fridge. The first thing that broke was the handle on my microwave right after the warranty ended - it couldnt be fixed without replacing the whole door, so I kept super gluing it till it finally blew in 2010 and couldnt be fixed. I replaced it with another KitchenAid microwave which was supposed to be comparable but it wasnt. It was my fault for not researching better, but it was Thanksgiving and I needed a new one immediately. The next appliance to break was my stove (also within just a few months of warranty ending) - just one burner, but wow! Was it pricey, a $300 part + the labor cost - so far so good. The next appliance to break was my dishwasher about 9 months ago - it needed a new inner door panel - part was no longer made. I finally found one in California, but between the part, shipping, and installation - over $400 - it doesnt make $ sense. Now, my gorgeous built-in fridge is broken. First, I replaced the thermostat. It worked fine for 1 day. Now, they say it must be a computer board - which the part is no longer available. It can be rebuilt, but with no guarantees it will work - so $300 for the rebuild, $150 to reinstall. Its about 5-8 weeks estimate to get the part back - so there is no fridge during that time. It may be worth it as the replacement cost for same fridge today is $8,000.Ive got to say that the service repair people have been awful (A&E). Theyre either late, or dont show up at all, and, so far, the majority of repairs Ive needed couldnt even be done. KitchenAid customer service is very frustrating. They love to tell you how sorry they are you are having these problems and are happy to set you up to purchase new appliances. I have 2 other refrigerators in my garage (thank God). One is a KitchenAid about 20 years old; the other is a 25+ year-old Maytag I think - neither of these have ever even needed a repair. Whats up with newer appliances? Do they have a chip in them designed to break right after the warranty is up? Ive started reading complaints not only for KitchenAid, but GE and others as well. It seems the consumer is just screwed as there are tons of complaints on all these manufacturers. Its painfully obvious that Im going to just have to replace all of these appliances very prematurely because of poor quality, design and workmanship, lack of replacement parts or rebuilding computer boards that have no warranties or guarantees. Im researching to see if there are any alternatives, any appliance manufacturer that can give me any sense of getting my monies worth. So far, it doesnt look good ... but for sure I will not buy KitchenAid products nor recommend them. I will, however, be happy to share with my friends/family/whoever what a bad experience I have had with their products, the lack of quality, the high cost, and the poor service after the fact. Sign me distressed, tired, ripped off. I almost forgot - my KitchenAid toaster also broke right after the warranty was out!

I am a semi retired senior that saved to purchase my last (what I thought at the time) kitchen range. I have owned KitchenAid ranges in the past and have been very pleased. There were two reasons I purchased this particular brand, it doesnt make any fan noises and for the self cleaning system. To my delight the stove is very quiet and allows an option to turn off all the normal beeping noises and the elements work well. That being said I have never been so disappointed with an oven cleaning system, it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL and yet the company continues to produce this system misleading the public. To me this is a criminal offense except I have no way to make them accountable. I am so disappointed with KitchenAid that they would associate themselves with such an inferior product. It is crucial for me to have a self clean oven and as one of thousands I am now stuck with a product I have come to hate in my kitchen. I am an avid cook and now find there are many products I am unwilling to cook as I have no way to clean my oven. I made wonderful Yorkshire puddings the other night and my husband spent two hours trying to clean the oven but the interior is so shoddy (not really a porcelain coating just some cheap material that cant withstand a proper cleaning and wont come clean with water being heated to 200F doesnt matter how many times you try). The first time after I used the self clean (I have only had the stove for 4 months and cleaned it 5 times) I sat down and cried, having spent so much money and having so much disappointment was a bit overwhelming. I called the place I bought it, they are really great, said the only thing they could do was to sell me a different stove at cost. I appreciated that but I now dont have the funds to do this or I would just to get rid of my stove. I have an extended warranty but this is not considered a warranty issue. I really have trouble with KitchenAid not standing behind their product but more so with a problem they know exists but keep producing, and as consumers we seem powerless to enforce change. As a side note, the oven wasnt hot enough and it does have an option to calibrate the temp. but even so because the oven is not well insulated or made of quality porcelain. During the cooking the temp. can drop as much as 50 degrees before it heats up again which can really affect the cooking process. So all around in general not very happy.

INCREDIBLY BAD PRODUCT. The good: the format of a small micro/convection oven over a large regular/convection oven works nicely for me as I can cook almost everything in the small oven and don’t have to waste energy on large oven except special occasion cooking. That said, the electronics went out twice in first couple of years, had to be completely replaced. Now I’m never sure if oven will work on any given day.NEXT: the first time I tried to use the clean program, about a half hour in, I heard a very loud crash and rushed in to kitchen to find glass all over. The whole glass door exploded all over. I eventually got it replaced but now am afraid to use it again. The bell which signals “done” and the timer itself long since stopped working and the turntable doesn’t turn. Today I found the glass top part of the turntable in pieces large and small. I’ve no idea what caused this. I’m worried that a replacement brand will not fit into the custom built in space I will have when I try to dump this headache. P.S. Read my review of KA dishwasher and immersion blender, neither of which are favorable. I have learned my lesson about this brand.

The technician came to the house and told us we needed a part to repair which will not be delivered until the 31st and who knows when the technician will conveniently show up. Now we are out $1000 of Thanksgiving food for 18 people at my house and KitchenAid/Whirlpool offered $100 for the inconvenience, right!! I spent over 2 hours on hold waiting to talk to someone who could actually do something and when I finally was able to speak to someone they were of no help (Tim #**). This week, it would start but not complete a cycle. Nothing in the manual about this. Called customer service. Took them 20 minutes to tell me they have no troubleshooting advice for this problem. Owned this dishwasher (KDTO104SS) for 8 months. It replaced a Bosch. Gradual decline in performance for last month. Did the hard restart, worked for one cycle. Requested warranty service, waited one week for repairman, he ordered new part, waited another week for him to return. He then said another part had to be ordered, refused to overnight as he is only paid once for warranty service and only came once a week to this city. Then he indicated that the control unit was shorted as insects had gotten inside. We have professional pest control and have never seen those insects. They were, in fact, inside the controller. This must be a design flaw, as there isnt a place in the country where some insects do not reside. We have previously dishwasher for more than a decade with no problem. We recently bought a used KitchenAid stainless steel stove. The control knobs are at the front of the oven and we discovered that they are easily turned on with even the slightest touch or bump. Unfortunately, when working in the kitchen, I did not notice that I had lightly touched the control knob which turned on the High setting. Within minutes the high setting ignited the oil in the pan on a front burner and flames were shooting up hitting the over-the-stove microwave oven. The flames covered the bottom edge of the microwave and the plastic edge melted.Luckily I was able to extinguish the fire, but my house has extensive smoke damage and could have completely gone up in flames. As well, the microwave oven is no longer useable. The stove knobs are a serious safety hazard as they can too easily be turned on with a light touch, a childs hand or even a dog sniffing the front of the stove. We are going to throw the stove out and never buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

Its a beautiful piece of junk! I bought Stainless steel model #KGRA806PSS on January 2006. The first service call was on January 2007; second on January 2008; third on April 2008. Of course, my fourth service call is now past the 5 year warranty. The igniter would click forever and then go out. Three times Ive had the electronic replaced. Oven would preheat, come to temperature then would lose heat and never reheat past 275. I didnt dare use the self-cleaning feature after reading the horror stories of glass shattering or doors locking or burning the electric board out. Anyways, we called KitchenAid and after being told that they never have had complaints about this range, we told them that they should try looking at the complaints registered online. Well, since this would be the fourth service call about the same problem, they would send a service technician out and if its the same problem, they would pro rate a new stove. The service technician just called and said that hes on the way out and did you know that there is a $135 service charge? No, I will not pay the service call, after all Kitchenaid called and set up the call and Im not paying another dime on this $1500 money pit!Buyer beware. KitchenAid is no longer a customer friendly company and they do not stand behind their product. Purchased all new appliance for our renovated Kitchen in May of 2017. They were installed towards the end of June, and we started having issues with the refrigerator within months. This is Model KRFF305ESS00, French doors, with water dispenser inside on the left-hand side. Once you fill a glass with water, the water dispenser doesn’t shut off properly and continues to drip... not one or two drips... but constantly. I phoned and the first serviceman they sent out told me that there was nothing wrong with it, and that is just the way it is. I called back, they sent another service guy out who said “that’s not right, but I’m not really sure what’s going to fix it, but I will order a new water tank and tube and see if that does the trick. I will also order a new air damper because it seems to be grinding and it shouldn’t be”.Two weeks later he returned with the parts, installed them, and it worked better for about a month. Now it’s still dripping, and the noise it makes sounds like it’s going to take off. I just called with warranty department, and there is no more coverage. It will cost $139 plus tax just to have someone come out and then more money for whatever parts they want to try next, that likely won’t work. My husband says “take it to the dump, it’s a piece of $3,000 garbage”!!! We will be shopping for another refrigerator... and it won’t be KitchenAid. How do these people stay in business??? Oh... Cathy on the warranty line, sure was trained properly... All she could say was “I certainly understand how you feel, but there is nothing we can do about it”!!!

While at my parents house they described a plastic odor from their Kitchen Aid Convection oven when the oven is used (all electric). I turned the power off inspected the connections on the outlet for the oven and also the connections to the oven itself. All are tight and no signs of heating up etc. I plugged everything back in and we turned it on, nothing at first but after about 3-5 minutes you could smell an odor from the upper portion of the unit. Again turned everything off, opened up the back panel and there it was, the oven control board had a larger connector which feeds power to the oven elements and it was melted to the board. I removed the board for replacement. A local company near us (Servall) had a heck of a time finding this part and the connector as well, the board is manufactured by Eletrolux but is in the Kitchen Aid. As of now, the cooktop just works but no displays since the oven control board also controls the displays. I am a master electrician with in-depth knowledge of controls, there has to be something wrong with the board from Electrolux which has been causing all the headaches for all these customers. I am not sure if the self cleaning function has been used but will recommend that it not be used unless someone is there and they want a possible fire. What a shame and shame on Kitchen Aid for not doing something for all these people who have paid in excess of $1000.00 for a heater. Buy another brand and let other know about it as well, Electrolux is a large company or brand that is well known in Europe for its quality, too bad Kitchen Aid botched this one up. Someone needs to step up to the plate make it right before someone gets hurt. You can fix a house but not a life.

When I purchased my dishwasher, I was told that KitchenAid racks were guaranteed not to rust or break down. I purchased my model, serial# kuds03ctss on 11/21/2007 and its racks are doing just that, causing rust stains on my silverware. When I called in repair, I was told, You must talk to the manufacturer. Thats not something we can handle. Well, I am talking to you. This was one of the big selling points of your product. Will KitchenAid stand behind their product and replace my racks?

My husband and I purchased a custom home in November of 2010. We wanted high end appliances in our new kitchen and have about $25K in KitchenAid products in our kitchen. The largest expense was our built-in refrigerator (model number KSSC42KVS). We paid $8,000.00 for this supposed high end refrigerator. 2 and a half years later, it sits completely dead in my kitchen. The past 3 months have been a nightmare. First, the ice maker assembly had to be replaced at a cost of about $400.00. The cheap plastic arm that closes the ice chute stopped working and allowed warm air to move into the freezer, then the compressor kicked in overtime trying to cool the compartment. 3 days after the ice maker was replaced, the refrigerator side stopped holding its temperature. The compressor would kick on, the freezer would drop to -10 and the fridge temp would go up to 56-60 degrees. The repairman was out again. This time he replaced the damper door assembly which allows the air to move from the freezer side into the the fridge side. Cost me $700.00. Again, everything was OK for about the 3 days and then the same problem happened again. The repairman was out again and this time replaced the thermistors. Again 3-4 days works properly, then compressor kicks on, freezer down to -10 and fridge up to 56. All this time my technician is conferring with Whirlpool technical support and following their recommendations. Now Whirlpool says the main circuit board is bad. It cannot be repaired because all of the inventory was wiped out by the tsunami in 2010. I will have to wait 2-3 weeks while my board is shipped out to a 3rd party vendor to be rebuilt. Now I am out another $600 as we had to buy a cheap fridge to put in our garage because my $8,000.00 is unusable. The board comes in, the repairman puts it in and within an hour after him leaving, the whole fridge just shuts off. The rebuilt board is bad. The repairman is back with a new board.. The fridge works fine for 3 days and then on June 27th, the same problem is back. I let it run for a couple of days and by the 29th, now the freezer isnt holding temp either. Both fridge and freezer are at 60 degrees. I called the repairman again and he tells me that Whirlpool is saying that they are out of ideas. My 2-year-old, $8,000.00 refrigerator has some electrical problem and it cannot be repaired. I will have to buy a new one. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If I would have known what terrible quality KitchenAid is, I would have spent another $1,000.00 back in 2010 and bought a Sub Zero. Please do not be fooled into thinking that KitchenAid is high end and high quality!

I have a KitchenAid stainless steel side by side built in fridge. In August 2015, it started beeping constantly. I had a KitchenAid service person to my home. Immediately, thereafter, my fridge stopped working completely. The service person came to my home again and got the fridge working but it still beeps constantly (24 hours a day). I called KitchenAid last week to follow up on my replacement part and I still have no answer from them. Very poor service for a very expensive product.

The dishwasher has been repaired two times and is leaking again. I hate this dishwasher and almost from day one. I only had it a short time and it started to leak all over my wood floors. We had it fixed and again. We had to pay to repair the leak a second time and again water on my wood floors. Today, I came upstairs to find water all over the floors again! Plus, it hasnt really cleaned the dishes well in a long time. I am going out today and shop for a new dishwasher and will not even consider KitchenAid. And I had a KitchenAid stove for a very short time and had to go out and buy a GE because at Thanksgiving, the oven stopped working. Right now, I have a KA refrigerator and cannot wait to get rid of it. I will never buy anything KitchenAid. Ill try Bosch or stick with GE!

While still under warranty, the dishwasher circuit panel no longer operated
While still under warranty, the dishwasher circuit panel no longer operated. No lights and did not turn on. I called the recommend repair service and was told it would be too costly to replace the control panel and to buy a new dishwasher. I called KitchenAid and was told to turn off the circuit breaker that provides power to the dishwasher. This works but must be turned off after each use. If I dont turn it off immediately after using it and try and do it later, it takes days before it operates again and the circuit panel must be off during the wait.

As a retired chef I have preference for gas cooktop but electric oven. I built a new home with floorplan that did not offer separate cooktop and wall oven so I was very pleased when I found a Kitchenaid dual fuel product offering gas cooktop and electric oven combination. I had past experience with KitchenAid and thought I was purchasing a quality product.Although the cooktop and oven function well, the so-called AquaLift self-cleaning feature is useless! I do not let my oven become heavily soiled but found my first use of this feature did nothing to clean the oven. Even worse, instructions indicate even if I was willing to use an oven cleaning product and elbow grease I am warned this will damage the oven surface. It appears there are currently class action suits on this topic. Wish I had known this before purchasing this expensive product.

Since the day I purchased this range, gas/convection oven, I have been disappointed with the quality. First of all, the salesperson at ABT told me the same thing about limiting the amount of self cleaning you do (but said you should do that with all self cleaning ovens.) Then, the fan on the oven sounds like a jet engine when it is on convect or cool down mode. I purchased this range in 2005 I believe, and this Thanksgiving, literally moments after the turkey was done, the oven shut down and will not turn back on. After reading all of these reviews, it clearly does sound like a recall issue and it is unfortunate that Kitchen Aid refuses to acknowledge their poor workmanship or design on this product.

I purchased a KitchenAid French door refrigerator with a bottom freezer. It is now 3 years old. It began to leak so I called for service from the place where I purchased the refrigerator. The repair man immediately told me this was a problem caused by a faulty drain and KitchenAid was replacing the parts free of charge however they wouldnt cover the service charge. I am sure the part which is just a drain costs almost nothing but I will have to pay a huge service charge. When I spoke to KitchenAid I asked why I wasnt notified that there was a defective part before the warranty ran out so that the service would have been covered. The response was simply, We dont do that. Their faulty manufacturing is costing me a lot of money. This is the last KitchenAid appliance I will buy.
