Product Reviews:

The design of the microwave section of the oven has the door opening down.
The design of the microwave section of the oven has the door opening down. You cannot remove it. Unless you are 6 feet tall and or an orangutan reaching the back of the microwave to clean the area that gets the dirtiest is next to impossible when you are a normal size person. In addition, periodically it decides that when you’re microwaving something, it just it doesn’t want to and it shuts off.

I purchased my KitchenAid Architect Series appliances in June of 2013, from Harrys Discounts Appliance. Unfortunately, dealing with this issue is the biggest headache I ever had. On delivery, the stove looked like it was dropped from the top of a building. The driver said, Please keep it and we will give you a great discount. I informed the driver to return the range and deliver a stove to me with no damage. We examined all the other appliances and they appeared to be undamaged. At the time, my house was under construction and we were not able to have the appliances installed until the contractor put up walls and re-built the kitchen. Upon installation, we didnt realize the Microwave was damaged. Once installed, the light, exhaust fan, timer and clock all were working, so we would assume that the microwave was functioning. However the microwave does not power on. I called KitchenAid for service. At first, they refused to take the call because it was over 30 days. I then called again, and they sent Dan Marc Appliance Repair Company to service the microwave. As per the repairman, parts needed to be ordered. When they returned, a new door was installed and the technician heated a bottle for 10 seconds and it did work. That was the first and last time the microwave functioned properly. After the one time use, I was cleaning the inside of the microwave and I cut my finger on separated metal. I called KitchenAid again; I was told to unplug the unit and they would send service repair, once again. When the repair technician came, he took pictures of the microwave and called KitchenAid. When I followed up I was told that they were going to send A& E Appliance Repair. On the day of service, A&E called and said unless we pay for the service call, they will not be able to repair the Microwave, which I refused to pay.I called KitchenAid again and based on the pictures and information that the repair tech took, I was told that it was determined the microwave could not be repaired and that it would be replaced. They also stated I would receive a follow-up call in 5 days, and no one contacted me. I called again only to be told that it was more than 30 days and it was damaged and would not be replaced.Let move on to the Refrigerator. This required repair service to address this issue four times with over a dozen customer service calls. The refrigerator has an ice buildup issue in the freezer and water lies on the freezer drawer. Due to this, we were not able to open the freezer door at all. I then called KitchenAid and they sent a service repair technician for this issue. After the repair was supposedly complete, I opened the refrigerator to find water & ice cycles hanging from the top of the refrigerator. After one of the repairs, I called to tell them about the water in the Refrigerator. Customer Service transferred me to a special department that was handling this issue. I was informed that KitchenAid has been aware of the problem and parts need to be designed to correct the problem. Apparently, KitchenAid is aware about this issue even before these appliances were sold. Meaning, Kitchen Aid knowingly sells faulty products to consumers. So when the parts were ready for installation I would receive a call. I was told to keep a towel handy to wipe up the water. This is absolutely unacceptable. For one of Kitchen Aids newest line of appliances I shouldnt have to keep a towel handy for anything, especially brand new products. The refrigerator has had repair visits on August 12, 26, September 16, 30, October 12. I called again for service on October 15, 2013 and I have not heard from the repair company. Unfortunately, I am still having the same problem. As for the stove, the grates on the range top are turning gray, the burns, caps & top are not able to come clean. Once again KitchenAid will not do anything because the product is more than 30 days old. The appliances I threw away that were 20 years old functioned better and were more reliable than these new Kitchen Aid appliances.I am incredibly frustrated at this entire process and have been dealing this issue for over two and half months. For a brand new line of appliances from what supposedly is a trustworthy company I have spent countless hours on the phone with customer service and days waiting for repair technicians to fix my appliances. Yet, nothing is functioning properly.I have spent over $4000 of my hard-earned money and waited over 25 years to re-do my kitchen and all I truly want is appliances that are reliable and function correctly. I am hoping that someone can help me; all I want is what I pay for working appliances. Please dont hesitate to contact me if you need any additional information. Thanking you in advance.

I have had this side by side, Architect II series for two years. Noted it had developed a few hairline cracks in the liner of the freezer. The repair company rep who came out confirmed that there is no satisfactory fix for this... He ended up putting some food grade silicon over the cracks with the result that it now looks like I have white duct tape holding my near new freezer liner together. How embarrassing and unsatisfactory, but from previous comments I know KitchenAid does not care. These will be the last appliances I buy with their name on them

In 2013 I purchased a KitchenAid package of appliances for my house. Since last year I have had the repair people out on 5 different occasions and I am still having issues. The model number is KFIS29PBMS02. Initially I was having issues with the ice maker and freezer and the PO code which means powers failure. I was told to have an electrician check the outlet which I did and it was fine. They then said it was a circuit board but didn’t know which one and they recommend replacing both which we did. No sooner did they leave and the code popped up again. They said it must have been a bad board and replaced another board. After they left it acted up again. Tech came out and said it was a bad deli board which is the last thing the company wants to replace due to the cost. I told them ice machine is still not working right. He said I may need a new machine. I couldn’t afford one at this point after taking numerous days off from work to meet the repairman. Fridge had also frozen up and the guy defrosted with his heat gun and said KitchenAid knows that the condensers are bad because they are aluminum and they have been replacing them. Fridge froze up again, ice maker makes ice randomly say a tray a week if lucky. I put bought ice in the dispenser and it melts. They are coming to replace the condenser this week after making arrangements for someone to stay at my house to wait for the repairman.Talked to different repairman today before he came and told him the problem and he said it may not be the condenser which is under warranty still (5 years). Frustrated as hell and think there is class action status here. Customer service at Kitchenaid sucks. They do not care and basically told me I didn’t put enough money out to qualify as a lemon.

We bought a very nice looking French door refrigerator and only six days later, it stopped cooling the food. The thermometers we put in it registered 50 degrees! The store would not replace it. Theyll just send out a technician and they dont know when that will be. Frankly, I dont trust KitchenAid as far as I can throw a stick if after only 6 days, it is not working. What happens in 60 days or 6 months? This was a brand new unit in the box and not a floor model. At least the freezer works and the full length deli drawer is working. I have food I have to move to an old garage fridge. They wont take care of that.

A few days after my dishwasher was installed my contractor noticed that vent [left side facing dishwasher KUDS35FXSS] was wetting inside door of my new cabinet. I contacted Kitchen-Aid. They said I had to contact where I bought it. I called the appliance store & told salesman (Dominic) whats happening. He said hed look into it. After a few days I went to store & asked him what was going on. He said his K-A tech said its probably a bad intake vent. Dominic told me to call the number he gave me to get a serviceman out & just keep the door of my cabinet open when I use DW until tech comes and fixes it. I went home & contacted the service dept. Tech came out. Tech said he felt moist heat coming out from side vent by cabinet. Tech called K-A Tech who told him venting system must be bad for that vent is supposed to takes in air. Tech said he had to order a new vent system & he would be back to install it. Two days before tech came back I opened door of DW & a screw fell on the floor. When tech came to put in new vent system I asked him about screw & he didnt seem surprised. He said it probably came from the insulation. Is that normal? He put new vent system in & left. I put on the dishwasher & about an hour later opened my cabinet & felt the inside of it. It was wet. I called tech again. He came out for the third time. He contacted a Kitchen-Aid Tech who told him to do a diagnostic check. Result is he has to put in a new Control board and dispenser. Now the front light indicator doesnt work. The dishwasher was installed a month and a 1/2 ago and I can only use it with cabinet door open because it is warping my new cabinet and somethings wrong with the dispensers. When youre looking for a dishwasher nothing in the details tells you where vents are. Who would put the vents of a built in dishwasher on side when there is wood cabinets on each side. Now Im stuck with a dishwasher that when used is destroying my cabinet and doesnt take the jet-dry and I have no idea what cycle because light doesnt work. I didnt pay to have a dishwasher re-built I paid for a new working dishwasher. What upsets me also is the appliance store that I purchased it from acts like its not their problem, its the companys. H & H Appliance center is the one who sold it to me, not K-A. I bought a new dishwasher not one that has to be re-built. Please help I dont know what to do. I dont want others to go through something like this. I bought 3 other appliances from him ($4500.00 total) same day I bought dishwasher. I guess I was foolish to think hed make things right. I feel H & H Appliance Center, 909 Rt.130 North, East Windsor,NJ 08520 should hold some of the responsibility. Shouldnt you be able to go back to the person you bought from and expect them to make good? Please help me. This will never end until the warranty is up and they dont have to do anything.

Tall side by side with brushed stainless finish and separate water and ice
Tall side by side with brushed stainless finish and separate water and ice dispensers tall enough for glassware. Finish shows fingerprints and other marks, but cleans off ok. Filter cartridge accessed from outside and at bottom vent area. Controls and seals good for this unit and energy consumption seems about right and reasonable. Still has limitations of side by side for storage and standard depth is not as desirable as counter depth.

I purchased two of the same KitchenAid Dishwashers (KDTE204) in September of 2015. The first one began leaking in March 2019 and was repaired by the repair company that KitchenAid referred me to. This $405 repair bill. In November 2019, the second dishwasher began leaking. In between the time I placed the service call for the second dishwasher and the repair man coming, the first dishwasher began leaking again. When the repair man came out, he indicated that the repair would be $435 for each dishwasher. The price of repairing the first dishwasher twice would be $840 and the price of repairing the second is $405.When I called customer service at KitchenAid they said we cannot control when a product fails and offered me $185 toward parts for repairing the first dishwasher again. I spent an hour on the phone and spoke with three different customer service people. None of whom seemed to think a dishwasher should last longer than a year. So if you plan to throw out your dishwasher every few years, then by all means get a KitchenAid but if you want one that will last, you should definitely look elsewhere.

Stainless Steel KitchenAid Dishwasher Complaint - I bought this high-end dishwasher for $1,600 in 2006, and it has broken several times - replacing internal panel, internal control unit, and exterior touch pad within warranty period in which I had to pay for labor and miscellaneous parts. It now has another broken internal panel, internal control unit, which is out of warranty now. The GE authorized repairman said I have a lemon and it’s not worth fixing. GE has offered to pay for a few parts but not labor. Or, I need to buy a new one with a slight discount. I feel this is unreasonable since I have had major problems with this dishwasher lemon within warranty.

We purchased model #KSS048QTB02 in August of 2009. This was the second 48 KitchenAid built-in we purchased along with all other high-end KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig. Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month. My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

This will be the 2nd time that I have had to call a repairman out to replace the thermostat in my Superba wall oven. Like so many other complaints Ive seen posted, there is something wrong if you cannot use the self clean function of your self-cleaning oven. To pay this kind of price (over $3,000) for a convection oven/microwave combo is a lot and you would expect a better product. First off, you pay extra for a self cleaning function but if you cant ever use it without it disabling your entire oven, then whats the point? So far on my oven combo unit, I have had to replace the glass in the door panel of the microwave, the glass in the door panel of my oven (no they were never hit by anything) and am now replacing my thermostat for the second time all because I wanted to use an option that I paid for: a self-cleaning option. Never again will I buy a product from KitchenAid or one of their related subsidiaries.

We have had two kitchenaid ranges in the last two years. The first one burnt up twice on the self-clean cycle and was replaced by a range with a higher speed blower fan that is extremely loud and annoying. Kitchenaid replaced the fan twice and have come to a conclusion that this is normal. When I first contacted Kitchenaid, their comment was we have had no noisy fan complaints. Service techs they have replaced many. Kitchenaid have told us they no longer going to help us with the noisy fan as it is normal. We are now stuck with a $2200 range. We will never buy kitchenaid junk again.

Remodeled our kitchen back in 2007 and, without much research, purchased KitchenAid appliances. Always hearing the name meant upper end, quality products. The wake-up call should have been when I received a warranty extension notices in the mail after only two years. June 2011 both Deli/Crisper pans started freezing everything inside so I called Idlers, the dealer, and they sent out a technician. He told me, after checking with KitchenAid Tech Support, that the circuit boards needed to be replaced. Luckily the rest of the fridge worked cause it took eight visits and weeks to get the parts, and when they came the connectors didnt match up. Tech Support said they could not do anything else, the Idlers technician felt sad for us and actually cut off the connectors and spliced the wires one by one. Now the main circuit board is failing and I hate to think how much this will cost or how long this is going to take to repair. Did I mention this refrigerator cost $5,000 and does not come with outer panels? They have to be custom-made to match the cabinets.

I purchased a dishwasher in May 2011 for about $900.00 and within 2 months, the electrical panel broke and I could not open the dishwasher. At that time, I should have insisted they replace the dishwasher because it is an absolute piece of junk. Two and a half years later, the plastic pieces that hold the upper basket have broken for the third time. I called KitchenAid and spoke to a manager. They offered to pay for the parts but I would have to pay for the service call and labor. I told them forget it since the pieces can only cost pennies. What government agency forces manufacturers to recall faulty items? Obviously from the amount of complaints online and the numerous complaints to which the service company responds to, this is an ongoing problem that KitchenAid has failed to address. I will NEVER purchase a KitchenAid or Whirlpool product again. I advise anyone that is looking for an appliance to avoid this brand!!!!

Installed 2003. There is something defective about this VERY expensive refrigerator. It builds up ice on the back refrigerator wall rendering 2 bins useless since it freezes the fresh food. If I turn down the freezer temperature down, ice cream turns to mush, so that is not an option. I have contacted KitchenAid over this situation years ago and all they do is send out a contracted appliance company to troubleshoot. You are responsible for paying for the troubleshoot and since I am not on warranty, I must pay for repairs. After the appliance company charges exorbitant fees, they say it is a bad baffle, and a new one is installed. I have done this 2x now, and the problem is still there. I am living with the ice build up as replacing these built ins costs almost $10,000. I wish I had paid more at the time for a Subzero. I had one for 20 years and NEVER a problem.

Told they will repair, but never allow a return. Every time we had a service technician come out, they would say something different from the previous technician. Whirlpool said they needed to pull the whole ceiling out, including wiring, to stick in a small foam pad to correct a problem issue with this model rather than replace this Lemon. After Katrina devastated our home, we lost everything. My husband and I didnt have much to repair our home so when we had to select our major appliances we knew they had to last a very long time. We believed in the KitchenAid/Whirpool company. We purchased the stackable washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stove and french door fridge. Within the first two years the microwave went out. The cost of the repair was half the cost of the microwave. After that the fridge went out. We paid $265.00 for the repair. The following year the fridge went out again with the same cost in repair. Year 4 our washer went out with a part costing over $300.00. That same year my oven thermostat became a problem with a bill of $100.00 just to look at it. Now today after paying $198.00 for a repair guy to look at my fridge (which continues to run at 54 degrees) we learned that it will cost over $800.00 to fix the freon hose which is located behind a bunch of other parts and compressor. We trusted this company but it has been an expensive nightmare!!! We can not afford the repairs and the additional cost of wasted food and trips to the local laundromat each week. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTS FROM KITCHENAID/WHIRPOOL!!!! IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND YOU WILL SPEND JUST THE SAME ON REPAIRS. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE MY FAMILY LIVES EVERY DAY!! THEY SUCK!!

Two weeks before the warranty ran out on my Kitchen Aid microwave, the unit started humming by itself while it is turned off. I called warranty center and they came in and repaired it. After the warranty ended, within one month, the same loud humming happened. So I called and had a technician come in and repair it. The unit is now two years old, it starts to hum anytime I turn on my range to cook. I would have to unplug it. Another thing about it is it starts to hum in the middle of the night, and then would turn on by itself. I think that a product like Kitchen Aid should live by its word. I purchased KA side-by-side 48 counter-depth fridge, wall oven with microwave, dishwasher and 48 cooktop for new home 8 years ago. These were not middle of the road models. They were the top models available at the time! The microwave hasnt worked in three years; the dishwasher works but the door pops open right in the middle of washing, so have to prop heavy chair in front of it; and the fridge is now developing cracks in the wall between the fridge and freezer at the rate of 2 inches per day! BTW, the compressor gave up after only 3 1/2 years and was replaced by KA because the hot door burned my nieces hand. I have no hope of getting these repaired as KA said sorry; it’s out of warranty. I spent over $12,000 on garbage that should have lasted many years. I have an old fridge in the garage that has never had a problem in over 30 years, along with an old behemoth microwave that still can cook like a breeze after 20 years. I totally cannot afford to have the KA products repaired so I am stuck. Does anyone know if there is a certain kind of epoxy I should get to try and repair the fridge myself? I am disabled now and need all the advice I can get. Take it from me, dont ever buy a KA product.

NEVER purchase this refrigerator (KSC24C8EYY02). We have had this refrigerator for 4 years (Paid 1500.00 for it) and it is completely freezing over. Repairman told us that there is no sense in attempting to repair this machine; that he sees this same exact issue with this same exact refrigerator and he has never been able to repair one. THIS IS A LEMON. KitchenAid just says Oh, well.

I purchased the gas range (KitchenAid 30inch Aqua Clean Slide In Gas Range) November 15, 2015. After two weeks range stopped working. Repairman came out and wanted to replace a part, I said, No. Want a new range. Didn’t want to start replacing parts on a new range. Six weeks later new second new range was installed. Four weeks later same problem, range stopped working. This time a new part was installed. Finally everything was working. I decided to try myself cleaning oven...what a joke! It did not clean, my oven was not that dirty. I called repairman and he told me his mom and aunt also purchased same oven and theirs does NOT clean like a normal self cleaning oven. They have to use a spray like Easy Off to get their oven cleaned. This is the worst oven I have ever owned. Don’t buy if youre looking for a self cleaning oven, as this one is NOT!

KitchenAid needs to do a recall on this dishwasher. We have required repair to the top rack tracks on the left and right sides! The circular piece on the track that pops into the dishwasher rack keeps breaking. I am now going online to find replacement parts to (temporarily!!!) fix it myself. When I asked the repairmen who covers KitchenAid warrantees about the rack, he said he had not seen problems so I showed him the hundreds of comments and reviews from people who hate this dishwasher for this very reason. KitchenAid does not care and they can forget this customer forever.

KFIV29PCMS00 - We got that fridge on January 2014 - so its 2 years and 4 months. The icemaker has never been performant - slow to make ice, but were not using it much so we didnt complained. About a year after we noticed iced was starting to build at the back of the top cabinet near the ice maker. We phone to KitchenAid and were told it was normal and to not worry about since the performance was the same. Yet 2 weeks ago we found all the ice was melting - cubes were soft and wet. We turned it off, but the next day we found the freezer was also melting, then all the refrigerator was not providing cold air at all. Called KitchenAid, the clerk is telling me nothing Ive said is under warranty. Then I told her Have you ever heard about Legal Warranty, and 30 secs later she came back and told me I will have nothing to pay.2 days later, the tech finally came in and said, the second evaporator had a leak so all the coolant leaked out and he had to replace it and also replace all the ice cube mechanism. A week later he comes back with all the parts to do the repair, but then as he opened the back cabinet he found it was filled with stains and black mold. All that comes from the water leaking from the ice maker, dripping inside the fridge and accumulating, then evaporating (from the anti-ice). So we were unaware of that water accumulating inside the cabinet (not accessible) and gradually forming mold (black mold and worst). Now my kitchen is full with refrigerator parts everywhere. The tech has gone as he doesnt want to work on the rotten refrigerator, and Im being ping pong at KitchenAid service and no one is telling me what to do and what will happened. The tech told me the cabinet cannot be replaced and cleaning all that mold is almost impossible. In other words he can only think about replacing the fridge altogether but KitchenAid is not responding. We paid high $$ (almost $3k) thinking we would be free of such problems, but were ending up with that situation after only 2 years. The previous fridge lasted 18 years and never had any issue before 17 years, and the one before that was second hand and lasted 20 years. Im pretty mad and discourage.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (Model: KUD301XBL0) in 25 Oct 10. This is an absolute lemon! This is the third repair for this piece of junk. Now, they are going to put in a new motor. I purchased a four-year extended warranty so does the machine qualify for a five-year warranty now? I had purchased a Samsung for my sons home in July 2010. It works perfectly, no problems, plus a great design! I should never have listened to the sales person at Lowes who said that I couldnt go wrong with KitchenAid! How far off base he was! I am now stuck with a dishwasher that I hate and from my experience, it will break down again and again!

Kitchenaid refrigerator model ksrg25fvms - I bought this appliance in 2009 for $1,765. When I received it, I immediately started having problems. In the first 90 days, there were problems with the freezer. When the repairman came to fix it, he didnt do anything. He just said to unplug the fridge and it will fix itself. We continued having problems with it, and recently there is an accumulation of water in the fridge under the bottom compartments. We called to get it fixed, and KitchenAid said that we would have to buy a one year extended warranty to fix it. We did. The repairman came and said that a small pea was blocking the pipe, and that’s why there was water. That is not accurate and he charged $349 just to give this stupid diagnosis. We are extremely unsatisfied and would advise people not to buy KitchenAid fridges; it was quite expensive and defective. It has been giving problems since the beginning, and customer service is of no help. Instead of making people buy expensive warranties, they should just make products that are built to last and that are highly functional.

We remodeled our kitchen in February-March 2011. All new, top of the line KitchenAid Appliances $10K worth. After about 4.5 months, the dishwasher started failing, it wont complete a cycle. Five warranty service visits later, still not working. I have replaced all the electronics at least once. Im now in the process of replacing the control panel for the second time, all under warranty. The cost of all the replacement parts and service could have paid for 3 dishwashers at the price we paid of $1200.00. So at what point does this scenario become cost effective for both the customer and manufacturer? When do I get a dishwasher that works? Our previous dishwasher was a KitchenAid and it worked fine. The factory warranty process is a joke. Ill never buy KitchenAid again.

Then about 2 months ago noticed the bottom rack is starting to rust out. Called KitchenAid customer service today 6/23/15, gave them the model number and was told that it was just over 5 years old and it only comes with a 5-year warranty and they would NOT do anything (including discount parts) to correct this. My wife and I built a new house and moved in 8/2003. We purchased all KitchenAid appliances. We had to replace the ice maker twice on our 2003 refrigerator. The 2003 range top stove control panel does not work properly. The 2003 microwave completely stopped working at the end of 2011. The front door cracked in 2008 since it hits a screw at the underside. 4 years ago when we built our new home, we bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher - retailed at $1800. The big attraction was how quiet it was supposed to be - and it is. However, in the past 8 months the control panel has gone out THREE times! At $150 for the part, and another $150 for service call and labor to replace it, it has reached the point of absurdity. The cycle times are also erratic. Sometimes it will take 4 hours! to go through a normal wash cycle, and others maybe 2. It has seemed to clean well, and it is quiet. But... the ridiculous lack of dependability makes KitchenAid no longer a desirable product.

The same model - a KitchenAid counter depth 29 inch depth refrigerator was put in our new kitchen by a reputable contractor, in addition to a new KitchenAid dishwasher, stove and in counter microwave. The refrigerator lasted exactly 22 months at which time the freezer stopped working. We called a service repair man and he noted that it was a very serious problem - the entire cooling unit of the refrigerator needed to be replaced and would cost $1500-1600 to repair. He advised we buy a new refrigerator. We are in the process of doing so, as the repair man said the refrigerator portion of it may last 2 days or 2 weeks. This is totally unacceptable. To date, the handle on my microwave didnt just come off, the plastic broke. It just doesnt heat food quickly and is the noisiest microwave ever. The range has knobs on the front and the writing on all the knobs came off within one month. Im currently on my third set of knobs and they now have no writing on them at all. Therefore if anyone else uses the range they have no idea what they are doing. Also, unless you lock the unit, if you lean over it to get something out of a cabinet, you can easily turn it on with your body without knowing it. Overall, this is a dangerous unit to own.

I spent $2,300 at Arts Appliances In North Haven, Ct, for a Slide-n electric range and microwave that were shipped direct from the factory. They were so called professionally installed. The time we used them the range emitted a loud pop and a flash which blew the breaker. The cause was a disconnected burner wire that shorted out on the chassis. Evidently the wire was never connected at the factory, an oversight that could have caused a house fire. We also quickly discovered that the lamp in the microwave above the range did not work.Arts sent us a couple of replacement bulbs. It took all my strength and care to remove the bulb which I discovered had been silicone sealed into the bulb socket. Its incredible that no one discovered these defects during the in assembly process or in Quality Control. Two major appliance shipped to the same consumer and both were defective. Adding insult to injury it took days to reach the factory claim center and days for a tech to arrive. The store owners insisted that I had to resolve the problem with the factory.

It looked very nice in the store and we selected it because we thought the brand had a good reputation. Three months later, rust spots appeared on the stainless steel doors. I called KitchenAid, only to be told they saw this as a cosmetic issue which was not covered. They did say they could send a repairman to look at it, but I would have to pay for the service call. I protested and spoke to the service manager. No help! I returned to the Lowes store and the appliance manager had Lowes file a formal complaint with KitchenAid. He said Lowes would stand behind me. Well see. For now, my advice is never buy a KitchenAid appliance.

This cleaning technology is a complete joke. KitchenAid/Whirpool solution is to buy their cleaning kit a sponge and a plastic scraper. Food is caked on the inside and does not come off. You cant use any chemical cleaners either so youre looking at a 2-hour cleaning job to maybe get this oven clean. Im shocked that they are still selling ovens with this bogus technology. After running the cycle multiple times some of whats on the bottom comes off after some scrubbing but the sides are still filthy. KitchenAid and Whirlpool need to do a recall and buy all these garbage ovens back from consumers. I paid $2k for my oven and after calling to complain to KitchenAid they had the nerve to tell me a tech could come out but if they decided the oven was working as designed, I would be charged. As designed - so does that mean they know it doesnt work and they come out and say yep, its not working - as designed that will be $150 please. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again!!

This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes
This is the first time I am taking out the time to write a review in hopes I can save people from making the bad choice of choosing KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. We have experienced several problems with several of their appliances but by far the worst is with our 42 side by side built in fridge (over $6,000.) Our first unit had so many problems within two years that Whirlpool finally replaced the unit. This was not easy but with good documentation, photos and me just not backing down, they finally did the right thing. We received the new unit on 12/3/08 (so only 4 years ago) and the icemaker which never really worked well is now broken and caused a lot of damage to our kitchen wood floor.Water dripped down through the bottom of the freezer door onto our hardwood floor. Unfortunately, water can do a lot of damage fast. After another frustrating experience with their customer service department, I finally got an appointment with a repair service. I wont even get into the details of that frustrating experience. Well, the ice making unit cannot be replaced because of insulation in the fridge door and we would have to purchase a brand new door. This would cost about $1,400 to replace and take 6 weeks to order the new door. Never mind the expense of replacing the hardwood floors. The Whirlpool Company could not care less. The door is rusted at the bottom, so this went on for a while but we did not notice it until it got really bad and the water started puddling in front of the fridge. Also just two weeks ago, we had work done on our 4 year old Whirlpool washing machine ($350 repair cost) and now it is starting to act up again. I assume that I will have to replace it soon since I am not willing to put any more money into it. These appliances are poorly built and dont represent the quality product they once were. I hope I was able to save someone out there from making the mistake of investing in any Whirlpool (or any of the other lines built by them) large appliance.

This is an update to my post here on 11/24/2011. KitchenAid dishwasher KUDE
This is an update to my post here on 11/24/2011. KitchenAid dishwasher KUDE70CVSS2, 1.5 years old, sanitized light was blinking at end of sanitize wash, i.e. water was not heated up high enough to sanitize the dishes. Finally, it was repaired today, 2/8/2012, almost 11 weeks since it broke. We had 8 service repair visits made by 4 technicians from 2 service repair companies. During this period, the printed circuit board was replaced twice. We were told our hot water supply was not hot enough by one technician who didnt come prepared with a thermometer. A different visit and technician with a thermometer measured it at 142 degrees, well above the 120 degrees the KitchenAid manual says is needed. We were told the problem was in our household wiring. That was a miscommunication between one service repair company and the extended warranty company. Then the entire washer unit with pump and diverter valve was replaced, today, the 8th visit, and the unit now sanitizes and works just fine. Now Ill tell you how to navigate through the bad technicians, miscommunications and so on that I learned after being frustrated when the second service call did nothing to fix the problem. Inside the kick panel of the KitchenAid dishwasher is a large folded paper enclosed in a waterproof pouch. It a technicians debug sheet that describes how to operate and analyze the results of a built-in self test. Yes, these dishwashers can perform a rather complete self test that concludes with a code indicating what the problem is. Read the sheet in your washer to understand the proper sequence of front panel button presses needed to begin the self test. But beware, the test in my washer can be run to either display the concluding results, or skip the display. You will need to run it in the display mode to read the results, duh. Duh, because the first technician kind of ran it in the other mode and never saw the result. None of the other technicians even ran the self test. It takes about 27 minutes to run, and you have to sit and watch the lights flash so as to catch the final conclusion. Huh, KitchenAid? The technicians would rather just replace stuff than wait 27 minutes to find out whats wrong. But I ran it, not just once, but many times, and I always got error codes 4-1 and 4-4. And the documentation says that one of the causes of a blinking sanitized light is error codes 4-1 or 4-4. Duh again, only on the 7th service call did the technician say lets see what 4-1 and 4-4 are and the answer was an issue with the diverter valve, so he ordered a new one, replaced it on the 8th visit and the washer runs just fine. So run that self-test, get the error codes, then insist the repair company fix the error reported by the self-test. With each technician, I point to the KitchenAid refrigerator I bought in 1987 that still runs well, and, each has chirped, dont buy another KitchenAid refrigerator. Im not buying another KA dishwasher either!

I will message this information to multiple websites and consumer groups. They keep saying information is not available to the customer when asked who is servicing us! I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2012 for $$$. So you know I had a Kenmore for 22 years that this KitchenAid was replacing and I actually sold the Kenmore for $50 because it still worked perfectly. I figured KitchenAid was a top of the line appliance. Ice maker went out within 13 months and after several calls I got them to cover parts and labor to fix it, but thats not the complaint here. Fast forward to 2016. In May 2016 the whole unit shut down and after several calls into CS found out it was my sealed system that went out and it was covered. It took a while to get my money back though. The day before Christmas 2016 my refrigerator went out. Long story short, I called the authorized KA service provider to come back out and they told me it would $450 to repair (again, 3rd major repair in 4 1/2 years while the 2nd major repair in 2016). After receiving the estimate I called KitchenAid CS to talk to them about this but their systems were down and couldnt help me and told me to call back the next day. Not thinking because I had a house full of kids on Christmas break from college I figured I would call back once I got back to work this week. Once I got a hold of someone from KA she told me KA would cover the parts only which I was ok with. She told me she would call the authorized repair company and get it worked out. I told her I already had it repaired because I had gone a week without a refrigerator anyway. KitchenAid wont reimburse a customer, just an authorized repair company. What a piece of ** company. Every time I contact KA they tell me the same thing. Appliances are meant to last forever and they never promised me that. I have another 20 year old GE refrigerator in my garage thats worked perfectly that whole time and I spent like $500 on it. This was my first and MY LAST KitchenAid/Whirlpool purchase.

I bought this French door refrigerator and it is beautiful! However, it is 2 years old and I have had to get it repaired three times due to compressor failure. Apparently this model has two compressors and it is causing a lot of issues. Being without a refrigerator for three plus days to defrost and then get serviced (my warranty ran out after 1 year) is a tremendous pain. I’ve always had Whirlpool but went a step up to KitchenAid and I am sorry I did.

Three years ago my husband and I purchased the newest top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher V103111213, energy star. It does not clean dishes. If I put even one dish in the wrong place, several dishes above do not get washed. Take a top load with two small plates in the bottom. Coffee mugs on the top dont get cleaned. This is a disappointment. KitchenAid used to be the best. This is the worst dishwasher I have owned. Even our bottom of the line, Frigidaire did a much better job.

I have a 4-5 year-old KitchenAid Dishwasher. It leaked badly on the kitchen floor the day before Thanksgiving. I could see underneath that the drain pump and motor was lying on the floor. It had fallen off its mount and was barely hanging by its rubber hose connected to the drain sump. I pulled the machine out from under the counter and turned it on its side to investigate the problem. I found that the 2-inch hose that connects the pump to the dishwasher sump was cracked from holding the weight of the pump and motor. Call to the tech dept at KitchenAid to get a new hose. Tech could not find a part number to get the little hose. Said he would email the info in a few days. This rubber hose is about 2 inches long with a one-inch opening on one end and about 1.25 inch opening on the other. It attaches with two simple hose clamps. Several days later I received an email stating that the hose was not available for purchase, as it only comes on a motor/pump assembly which will cost me $264. All I need is a little rubber hose. This is a serious RIPOFF.

The distributor where we purchased it claimed they did not drop it and KitchenAid refuses to accept that they could have dropped it during shipping. Right now, we have a range that we cannot use and simply want a replacement but no one is helping us from KitchenAid! Bought Kitchen Aid mod-kuds35fxssi dishwasher. The control board failed 10 months after bought along with the top rack wheels and the jet spot dispenser leaked. Good thing I bought it from a local appliance store. They are authorized repair for what they sell, very good to deal with. Fixed the 3 issues .100 days later the control board failed again its only covered 90days after a repair so we called Kitchen Aid. They wouldnt do anything so we bought service plan. Meantime the top rack wheels broke. 90 days after bought service plan, we got control board repaired. The rack not covered we paid for rack repair. Now about 16 months after buying the dishwasher 4th set of rack wheels broke. We called Kitchen Aid, argued for some help. A free replacement part only was offered, we accepted. I installed it. Now the bottom wheel on right of the bottom rack falls off. Not what you expect from a Kitchen Aid dishwasher.

On Wednesday, April 11, 2012, I ran the Self-Cleaning cycle on my KitchenAid Built-in Double Ovens. Approximately an hour into the cycle, the glass liner exploded and shattered. I reported to problem to KitchenAids Customer Service and they had a local service rep call me within 24 hours. He indicated that he had to order the part but should have it within a week. It has been almost two weeks and I have not heard from the service rep. The oven is less than 6 months old so it is covered under warranty. Although I had been extremely happy with how the oven performed (baked) until recently, we are extremely dissatisfied with how KitchenAid is treating the problem. They did say that they would replace the glass but we are concerned about safety and using it in the future.

Have contacted KitchenAid, they wont do anything to rectify the situation because its 4 years old, not cover issue under warranty. I pushed the issue, talked to a manager. They were rude and wouldnt budge. Had the nerve to tell me that it is man-made and parts do fail. Are you kidding me?! Over $2,000 piece of junk that Ive already put $400 into. Poor reliability. Very disappointed based on initial reviews of how happy people were with model. I guess I like it too - when it is working. Who has the money or time for all these repairs? Purchased in September 2011 and the motor failed the first week. Best Buy swapped out dishwasher in October 2011. Had some intermittent issues when it would not turn on when we pushed the key pads. March 2013 - stopped working completely. The electrical panel on inside of door came loose. Was not an actual electrical problem so did not fall under warranty. I paid the $130 for a 15-minute service. September 2013. Dishwasher failed to complete rinse cycle and wont start again - just makes a louder than usual noise like it is trying to start. Just called for another repair.

After the first 2 years, I had to purchase the silverware caddy because the PLASTIC in the bottom of the silverware caddy had pieces broken and silverware was falling through. Then about a year later, PLASTIC brackets on the top rack broke. Replaced those. Now, the PLASTIC door is broken where the screw should be, and the touch panel is not working. JUNK! Our son bought a KitchenAid KUDS201XWH4 replacement dishwasher for us a few years ago. Like everyone else has mentioned, the prongs holding the upper rack rollers in place broke off causing precarious loading of the upper rack, in order to keep the wheels from falling off completely. I went online and ordered two replacement roller assemblies. Surprisingly, even though order acknowledgement indicated out of stock, the parts were delivered in a few days. Removal and reassembly of the roller component assemblies proved to be puzzling at first, but it didnt take long to get everything mounted correctly and working again. Now we stack the top rack with heavier items toward the rear, not in the front. Think teeter-totter balance. Unfortunately, after a recent momentary power outage our dishwashers wash cycle starts, but soon changes to the Cancel/Drain cycle then stops completely. Now what?

I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator in 2013, stainless steel model #KFIS29BBMSOO. Ive had numerous problems with it, many service calls. The first was the hose in the freezer splitting, which took 5 service calls to figure out, costing me for each one. Finally they said it was a recall item and I should not have had to pay. It was difficult to get my money back from the service people, took months. Now there is ice building up behind the drawers in the refrigerator, blocking the vent. There is about 2 of ice built up so the drawers do not close completely. Everything in the drawers freezes. When I called repair people suggested by Whirlpool. As soon as they heard the model number they refused to come. I called Whirlpool again, they said they have never heard of any problems like this, however, when I read all of the reviews listed here there are a lot of problems with these refrigerators. The repair guys said KitchenAid is one of the worst brands now, made so poorly, but so expensive. They finally found me a repairman, he is about 5 hours away, I told them he is not close, they said he probably knows someone closer to me, however the call is from 8:00-5:00, I have to wait. This has been so frustrating. I purchased 7 appliances at the same time, I did a remodel on my kitchen. My dishwasher failed after one year, the motor actually fell on the floor, it slow leaked onto my wood floors doing $40,000. damage, cabinets had to be pulled out walls repaired, took 5 months. KitchenAid would do nothing. The motor was not installed right at the factory, they tried to blame it on the installers. Im fed up with KitchenAid, would never recommend it to anyone. I just cant believe they dont worry about their reputation.

We purchased a brand new home in November of 2012 and ever since day one of operating our KitchenAid oven Model # KEBS109BSS00, we have had this awful metal on metal rattling noise. After contacting KitchenAid warranty repair department, they have sent Three different companies out over 18 visits to repair the issue. We have been informed that there are only two moving parts to the oven and both parts have been replaced TWICE. Also, we have had new extra insulation kits and exterior panels replaced, tightened, loosened, and so on and so on... to no avail. The oven still makes the awful noise through all three operating cycles. Kitchen Aid has been horrible with helping us repair this oven. They claim that some of the visits will not count because the tech that came out for the repair did not log a claim attached with the serial number of the unit. So we basically wasted half a day and and still have a broken oven. I will NEVER buy a kitchen aid oven again, cheap product and terrible customer service. Even the technicians they send out are saying that there is nothing more that can be done and they need to replace the unit but to be prepared that Kitchen Aid will fight us on that but 18 visits at $144 a pop they have already spent more than the oven is worth.

We purchased a KitchenAid double oven with the construction of our new home. Commencing with the installation there was nothing but malfunctions with the oven. The fan was bad; control board went bad and most importantly (and never satisfactorily resolved) the oven consistently failed to preheat at the correct temperature or to cook evenly. The oven consistently overheats between 40-50 degrees. Several holidays were less than satisfactory due to the condition in which the food was cooked. The oven was serviced several times over one year and problems were never resolved. Before warranty ended, demanded oven be replaced because lemon and was refused. Told the uneven temperatures and cooking was the way it was suppose to function. Not if you want to follow a recipe, it isnt!!!

We bought our KitchenAid refrigerator in late 2013. Luckily we did purchase the extended warranty, something we didnt typically do. When we were first married it seemed like we could count on a refrigerator lasting fifteen years or so, not anymore. Two years into it we started having problems. It wasnt producing enough ice, started leaking water on the floor when freezer items began to thaw. When I called the place where we bought the refrigerator (Hills Flat Lumber, Grass Valley, CA), all I got was youll have to find your warranty and call them. I was in the midst of a family health crisis at the time, so it was extremely frustrating. I found the warranty and took care of all that. The refrigerator was back to working.About a month ago it started demonstrating all the same problems as before. Right before the holidays! Even though we had the warranty, it took awhile to get anyone out, and then two weeks longer for the parts. I was without a refrigerator over the Christmas holidays. Luckily the garage has been cold, so I have been storing my food out there. I finally had the guy out to fix it a couple of days ago. I called them back today to let them know that the freezer isnt the least bit cold. So... About a month without a working refrigerator. It is pretty frustrating. Ive always thought KitchenAid was a good product. I still use my KitchenAid mixer that I got as a wedding gift 33 years ago. But I think the refrigerator is a LEMON!

Bought the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUD301XSS9 in July 2013. 13 months later, like many of these other reviews, had to replace the plastic tabs on the top rack on both sides. Of course, they were on back order (apparently a lot of replacements of those parts on the top rack). I went ahead and ordered two sets for each side, anticipating this will happen in another 12 months or so. The plastic does not appear to be able to stand up to the high temperatures generated by this dishwasher. Had I known that Kitchen Aid was owned by Whirlpool, who also owns Maytag, which, in my opinion, is absolutely the WORST appliance manufacturer since the beginning of time, I would not have bought one. The old slogan from the 1980s about the Maytag Repairman being lonely would not be applicable today... Apparently neither would the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher repairman. Heading over to GE the next time, at least They Bring Good Things to Life, and one of those Good Things will be in the form of a better dishwasher to my home. Now this model is not all bad. The good thing about this model is the same thing that probably cause the problem to begin with... it does dry very good. What KA needs to understand is no consumer wants to be replacing ANY part after only 13 months of service. From reading the reviews, I am not totally convinced they are able to grasp that concept.

Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator Model #KBFS22EWMS7 in November, 2012 along with a 4 yr extended warranty with a price of $1800. The first week in October 2013, there was a big pool of water on the floor near the refrigerator. Pulled out the fridge thinking a hose had been punctured or a connection was loose. But no, that was not the case. All connections on the back of the fridge were dry. Husband checked more thoroughly and could not find where the leak was coming from. Called the customer service number on the refrigerator user instructions and they set up an appointment with a service person. The service person came out on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, checked all connections and pulled off panels and checked the back and could not find where the water was leaking. He confirmed there is a leak by seeing all the water on the floor, which looks like had been leaking for a while after seeing the edge of the wall with water damage and mold. But he could not find it and could not tell where it was coming from. So he gave my husband a homework assignment to somehow keep a watch underneath the fridge to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. How about that for customer service!!!! Now after seeing all the similar complaints and issues with KitchenAid, I am so afraid that we are in store for a nightmare of our own!!!! Our current plan is to put some type of rubber mat on the floor underneath the fridge and somehow jack up the fridge a little to be able to see underneath to watch for the leak. This is very frustrating and wish now that I had gone with Maytag!!!!

KitchenAid KUDS35FXSS8 - When the door is open, the dishwasher has a swampy smell since purchase. It was reported to company several times with repair service deployed twice; both times they assessed drainage, suggested changing cleaning agent, using Pro Scrub option, water neutralizing agent, etc. with no resolution of problem. On last call to manufacturer, they acted like they had never heard of this problem before and were very rude in communicating that there was nothing else they could do (this was spoken by the supervisor not the customer service agent). I would strongly suggest not purchasing this product due to inability to resolve AND poor customer experience. I would like to hear from others who have had same problem so I can document enormity of the problem and provide to consumer protection group.

I waited many years to finally get my KitchenAid appliances. I purchased them at Sears and I even bought the Premium service agreement. For unknown reasons, my refrigerator doors began to rust (I have pictures and would be happy to send them). There is no apparent leak or reason for this rust. When I contacted my service agreement, of course, they told me doors arent covered. I was told the only thing I can do is buy new doors. I would gladly do that if the damage was the result of neglect on my part. The refrigerator was purchased 11-02-99. I realize it is 13 years old but my last refrigerator was 25 years old when I gave it away (still running perfect and no damage - Kenmore). Since I have not received satisfaction about repairs, I have decided to keep my refrigerator as is. I make it a point to show it to everyone that comes to my home and telling them about how KitchenAid stands behind their product lines. Rest assured I will never purchase another KitchenAid anything. As much as it is embarrassing to have this in my kitchen, I feel spreading the word is more important.

I have a KHMS 2050SSS-2 microwave. It was purchased new in 2011. Very little use. In the middle of the night my smoke alarm went off. The kitchen was lit up like somebody was running a arc welder. The microwave was running even though no one was using it. I tried turning it off. I even opened the door but the thing keeper going. The glass plate was melting and a hole was burning through the bottom. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. My wife dialed 911 because we really expected a house fire. Whirlpool was contacted. They sent out a repair team who said it was “not repairable. Since then I have contacted Whirlpool 3 times but there is zero response. I find that their could not care less attitude disturbing to say the least.
