I am writing on behalf of my parents who have had nothing but problems with their refrigerator from day 1. The model No. is KSC23C8EYY00, serial no. HR14140633. The refrigerator was purchased 2/24/2012. From the very beginning the doors have not been aligned. We have had service people in and out adjusting the doors for the past almost 4 years on 2/24/16. Water leaks on bottom of refrigerator due to the doors not closing properly and fruit flies continuously coming in and end up dead and accumulating at the bottom of the refrigerator. Your service representatives have been here for the past four years trying to resolve this problem and nobody seems to know what theyre doing as we end up with the same problem, having to call you again. We have a folder with all the service calls. From day one we have dealt with this problem. After several calls the first year and your techs not able to repair the problem, the constant annoyance of the door light on due to doors not closing properly, my mom asked your tech to take the refrigerator back at which time he informed her it was too late. I live in Texas and was made aware that your technician advised her it was too late. I made the very first call shortly after it was delivered. Here it is four years later and I cannot believe it has not been resolved. A technician was scheduled to come by last week and we were informed he was in auto accident. A week has gone by and no one has called to reschedule. I just called and someone will be by tomorrow. I spoke with your representative, Erb, who was very helpful. He is sending someone tomorrow. The refrigerator has water right now with flies laying dead in water. My mom was going to clean it up as she has for the past four years. I told her to leave it alone so that your tech can see whats going on. The last tech about 4 weeks ago said he fixed it. Obviously not as you have not been able to from day 1. This is pathetic that my almost 90-year-old parents have to deal with this. At this point, we are requesting a replacement. My parents bought an expensive refrigerator which has turned out to be a nightmare. If you check your records you will see how many times you have been out for the same problem. I am attaching a receipt of purchased product. A response as to considering a replacement is greatly appreciated.

Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid large appliance. I will not deal with a company that refuses to stand behind its product.

I purchased a new refrigerator on 12-13-12. It was a Kitchenaid French Door 29 model #KFIS29PBMS. Since purchasing this refrigerator I have had to place 9 service calls. Virtually, every part in the freezer/defrosting unit have been replaced and I am still having problems. Loud noises, PO light comes on continually. The repairman has thrown his arms in the air and said he doesnt know what else to do. He says it is a faulty design. I AM SOOO FRUSTRATED. PLEASE HELP!

I spent $2,300 at Arts Appliances In North Haven, Ct, for a Slide-n electric range and microwave that were shipped direct from the factory. They were so called professionally installed. The time we used them the range emitted a loud pop and a flash which blew the breaker. The cause was a disconnected burner wire that shorted out on the chassis. Evidently the wire was never connected at the factory, an oversight that could have caused a house fire. We also quickly discovered that the lamp in the microwave above the range did not work.Arts sent us a couple of replacement bulbs. It took all my strength and care to remove the bulb which I discovered had been silicone sealed into the bulb socket. Its incredible that no one discovered these defects during the in assembly process or in Quality Control. Two major appliance shipped to the same consumer and both were defective. Adding insult to injury it took days to reach the factory claim center and days for a tech to arrive. The store owners insisted that I had to resolve the problem with the factory.

My compressor overheated. Dangerously hot. I do not want the same part. There is no way to know how much damage was done! Not to mention fire hazard. I was told by KitchenAid it is my responsibility to unplug. I guess if you really want a KitchenAid fridge no sleeping or going out of town. I was told this did not meet their standard for safety hazard yet they could not give the standards that do! The ice maker has gone out. The water flow takes 5 minutes to fill the glass. The best was that I did not need to worry about fire, because the refrigerator walls would contain it! Keep in mind the bottom portion is cardboard!!! My last call the guy hung up on me!!! If you are thinking about KitchenAid dont. If you just got one run dont walk it right back in the store!!!

I purchased a new home with a new refrigerator. From day one the refrigerator froze everything. I called KitchenAid who sent out technicians. They have now come out 3 times replacing multiple parts and told us it was fixed. Of course, it is not. I called KitchenAid again who told me that only counts as 1 service call and they would need to send another company. They need to have at least 3 service calls - of course my 3 only count as one. So, back to square one. 4 weeks already with a fridge that ruined all my food and is running up my electric bill. Plus, the companies they send out can only give you a full day appointment and the company they sent doesnt even come in the window set up.I tried to talk to a manager but shockingly one wasnt available. Honestly, the worst customer service and a worthless product. I will never buy KitchenAid but am now stuck with a non-working expensive refrigerator and nothing I can do. You would think that at least a brand new product would work or they would do something about it.

My KitchenAid dishwasher caught fire caused damage to my home. There was a class action lawsuit with a substantial settlement/compensation to the owners. KitchenAid offered me $100 off MSRP for a new dishwasher. I can purchase a new dishwasher for hundreds off msrp at my local mom and pop store. KitchenAids offer is not only insulting and offensive but also no different to what they offer all their customers with minor complaints. Kitchenaid dishwashers involved in the lawsuit were found to be faulty and downright dangerous as they catch fire and can burn a home down. Had I not been home at the time, my home would have been destroyed and $100 is what they think is appropriate. KitchenAid does not stand by their products nor do they provide support or assistance.

We purchased a high end KitchenAid refrigerator (almost 3,000) and began having problems within 6 months. Have had 6 technician visits to attempt to fix (back of refrigerator freezes up, cant get filtered water, stops cooling and food rots in our absence). EVERY replaceable part that is not considered part of the inner compartment has been replaced. Our last technician, in writing, wrote that there was nothing else that could be done except replace the entire refrigerator and that ours was a lemon. I called the manufacturer (Whirlpool/KitchenAid) and they told me that I had a problem and they didnt, in other words... I was SOL. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR or for that matter ANYTHING under the WHIRLPOOL umbrella since they will not stand by their products. Buy a GE!

After using the self-cleaning mode three times, the lock would no longer disengage. My oven (KEMC378) was still under warranty at the time so the locking device was replaced. Again after using the cleaning mode a few times, the problem reoccurred with the new lock. After about a week of not using my oven or microwave, the lock disengaged on its own. Needless to say, I no longer use the self-cleaning mode. Recently on 10/27/2012, the locking device, on its own, became engaged and will not release. I can no longer cook or microwave - its completely useless. I called KitchenAid on 10/29/2012 to see if my model was part of the recall. Customer service said no and transferred my call to the service dept. I waited for 10 minutes for someone to pick up my call but they never did.

I purchased a KitchenAid side-by-side Refrigerator #KSCS25INSS00 for almost $3000.00 from Sears in 2004 with 5-year service contract. In 2009, I called KitchenAid Repair because of cracks in cavity liner since it was under factory warranty. Serviced by A&E Factory Service, who strongly let it be known that the service charge must be paid regardless to analysis, Serviceman Raymond #** said the repair to the cracks in my refrigerator were cosmetic and would not affect the cooling of the unit. Service was under warranty but the repairman advised against cosmetic repair because it would show as a patched-over look, will not look good and again, would not make a difference in the cooling. I found out this was not so. I began to notice over time that milk, juices, and other foods seemed to be slowly spoiling more than usual. In July 2011, refrigerator was not cooling. I called Sears for service and was put under extreme pressure to purchase smart agreement prior to appointment or pay service charge prior to serviceman sent to my home. I took smart agreement, serviceman #** arrived with computer and wand type device and said that he really didnt know what the problem was but it was probably maybe a leak and seemed to be a sealed system internal problem. He steadily called in to confer with others and after about 2.5 hours, he said he would try to find the leak and the decision about the unit would be up to Kitchenaid. I advised that I had a Kitchenaid warrant on the seal system problem. He advised to give the refrigerated part 12 hours (freezer 24 hours) to adjust and call Sears of any problems and then left. The unit seemed to operate for a day. Ice formed in the freezer but melted down the front of unit. I called Sears immediately that day and could not get an appointment until the next week! Serviceman #** came and was in my home no more than 5 minutes and placed a sticker deemed unit not economical to repair/scrap and said Sears would offer a $500 discount on another unit! I complained that it was not economical for Sears to repair but it was economical for me to spend more money! I reminded him that Kitchenaid warranted that problem and was advised to call them. I called Kitchenaid and was on phone for more that 2.5 hours getting the runaround especially with Customer Experience Team. I spoke with several people about them honoring the warranty on the sealed system repair and was told they would send a serviceman out to check out the unit. Serviceman from A&E turned out to be the same first serviceman from Sears and he refused to return although he was representing Kitchenaid. He said he was not allowed to call Kitchenaid and that I would have to do that myself. I was back on the phone with Kitchenaid Customer Experience for another 3 hours and was being preached by Tammy or Pammy about Tech Teams from Sears and Kitchenaid not reporting my problem. But she said Kitchenaid would stand by their warranty. She finally said she would have a Kitchenaid supervisor contact me and I gave her the best number to contact me which was not followed. The supervisor Denna called a few days later and left a message on my home number, not the preferred number that I have given. Dennas message was that she didnt know what Kitchenaid could do for me and advised that it would be best to take Sears $500 offer but I could call her to discuss it. I left several messages and she never answered or returned my calls to her **. One last attempt with Kitchenaid Customer Experience, I spoke with an assistant Joetta, at the same number, but another extension **. After a lengthy conversation, reminding her that I had a Kitchenaid warranty on this repair, she seemed to agreed to help with the problem and said she would send a team that could help with the situation. She took all the necessary information and promised to get back to me. That was two weeks ago. Nothing. It is apparent that Kitchenaid does not stand by their warranties and do not care about the customers.

On March 25th 2015, our carbon monoxide detector went off. The local fire department came and they determined that the source of the carbon monoxide leak was our Kitchen Aid slide in range-oven. They supplied a report that outlined this. They shut off the propane supply and pulled range out of position and said we could not use this appliance until problem was fixed. We notified Kitchen Aid customer service on 03/26/15 (appliance under mfg warranty), and explained the situation. This issue was passed on to their safety department. The safety department did not respond to us until 03/27, and they explained that they needed a carbon monoxide meter to service our appliance, which they did not have available. We have been in contact with them every day since the incident happened, and we still do not have an appointment from service department to resolve our issue. The excuse everyday is that they are waiting for carbon monoxide meter to come back to them from the field to send to our local appliance repair center, and in turn to come to our home. This is not acceptable, and we need to help, now, to resolve this issue.

Have a two month old microwave that’s broken down twice. Two months old, called KitchenAid multiple times for service. After the last break down we contacted KitchenAid again. We wanted a replacement their defective product. But that is not their KitchenAid’s policy. Their policy’s is to send a repair person out and try to fix their mistakes. That’s until it’s out of their “1” year warranty. “DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY”. Forgot to mention, KitchenAid has a very rude customer service department. Buyer Beware! My partner and I bought a $6,000 KitchenAid 36-inch dual-fuel range about 12 years ago. Since then, the oven has failed three times, the last time for good. When I called the manager of the expensive appliance store where we bought it, Cocoplum, in Essex Junction, VT, he told me that we had a lemon and went on to say that the company was no longer any good. The problem, according to him, is that the high temperatures of the self-cleaning oven (which we have not used often) do not play well with the complex electronics of the stove. Bottom line: after 12 years, we have had to plunk down $7,000 for a new stove, this time a Thermador with gas only. There is a class-action lawsuit being brought against the company in New York, and other reviews online confirm our expensive bad experience.

Expensive KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDPO1FLBL5) is building up of hazardous black mold on interior monthly. KitchenAid would only refer me to A&E appliances for repair at my expense as dishwasher was past one-year warranty. After taking a day off work technician never showed. After speaking with two KitchenAid supervisors in Cleveland, Tn., Wanda and Benjamin, who were unapologetic and wasting over three hours on hold with both companies, I received no satisfaction other than the option of taking yet another day off work and rescheduling with A&E. If you are thinking about buying any KitchenAid appliances, you should think twice. And incidentally, according to Forbes, CEO Jeff Fettig made $45 million in the last 5 years.

I have had several KitchenAid dishwashers, and have found all of them to be a good solid value for the money. Capacity/noise level/rack design/durability/appearance all good. I run heavy use and have not encountered any repairs. I typically spend around 1100.00 and plan on 7-8 years of use before purchasing again. I like the hidden controls and the cycle light is easy to notify you. Very functional and I would do it again! Before you wonder I must say, I am single so I do not use my dishwasher a lot and I do not use the highest setting. I had to remove the machine from the premises, due to the smell, and felt compelled to purchase a new dishwasher, even though there is still time left on my extended warranty. I am writing is regard to several phone calls that were made to get a service call for my dishwasher. I was on elevator string music for 30 minutes from 07:28 to 08:03 AM. At that point I read off numerous numbers to the girl only to be advised to another telephone number and then at that number redirected to the place of purchase, and then to a holding company that has the warranty policy which was issued December 18, 2011 to December 18, 2014. KITCHENAID needs to select better people to handle these calls. I encountered a couple people to be rude and insensitive to the needs of a consumer. The final call finally resulted with an appointment for a technician to appear at my home between 12:00 and 5:00 PM tomorrow. After all these endeavors, I searched the internet and found CONSUMER AFFAIRS SITE. I am really upset that I had not looked before I leaped with KITCHENAID when I read issues with plastic wheels, broken dishes and completely rejected consumers dating back to before November 16, 2013. I counted at least 26 wheel issues of 529 complaints listed. Why wasnt a RECALL issued to correct this obvious and repeated documented poor quality in workmanship? This technician tomorrow should be bringing NEW REVISED WHEELS for this dishwasher. Needless to say - NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and because our old appliances were KitchenAid and we were happy with them we decided to go with the brand again. Such a mistake. Within a few months the finishes on the fridge and the dishwasher are discolored, spotty, and there is rust showing through on the fridge door in multiple places. The handle on the freezer door wont stay tight. The self cleaning oven is a joke. These are overpriced, poor quality appliances. We bought an extended warranty which is no help for these issues. In spite of the fact that I was calm and factual with the resolution specialist was sarcastic and condescending. We had this oven when we purchased the house and it was perhaps the appliance that was least used. Over the past several months we have been getting an error in the control panel F6E0 - Lost Communications. The error would sometimes solve by itself, but this time we waited for about a month before calling a technician. He told us that the control panel would be $700 and the problem may be solved. It may require another control panel replacement which is in the $200 range. Why would Kitchen Aid design products that would last for 5 years when the good old Electric ranges with much less electronics lasted for 20 years. Where is quality? Where is reliability? I perhaps should not blame KitchenAid alone on this. Since we are all demanding (or receiving) products that look more like a computer - we replace it as often as a computer and trash the old ones in China. Further, they declined to post my review on their website - Sure they dont want to see it on their site!

We also took into consideration that the warranty was suppose to be better than the rest. We recently had issues with ice building up under bottom of freezer causing water to leak onto our floor. We contacted KitchenAid and they wouldnt send someone out unless we paid $100 for them to look at it. DO NOT BUY this refrigerator for the following reasons: Installed in Jan 2016 and already had to replace icemaker, slides on bottom drawer dont work, seals on top french doors moldy, temperature not regulated in refrigerator, and freezer section froze up. Labor costs to repair is very high: quoted $340 to replace freezer drawer slides and around $100.00 each time someone comes out to check. Mold started accumulating on refrigerator seals. Noticed some small rust spots on the freezer door (exterior) that I could not remove. We do not overload either freezer or refrigerator and we vacuum out coils regularly. My next review will be on my Kitchenaid double ovens - very disappointed with these as well!!!

Ive had this dishwasher model KUDS30iXSS4 with stainless steel tub for 5 years and the only way to get dishes clean is to set it for pot scrubber and on the longer cycle. The top rack has plastic wheels to roll it in and out that completely broke off so it cant be used. Replacement parts are over $135 and I dont know if I can fix it myself. Ive had dishwashers last 15+ years with 0 problems so I think this one isnt living up to expectations. I bought the stainless tub because I thought it would last. I can see from these reviews the top shelf wheels are a major design fault. Many complaints about the plastic wheels breaking off as well as other plastic pieces failing. When I replace this and Im sure I will have to, I wont replace it with another KitchenAid.

Kitchen Aid Dishwasher kudl01FLSS1 Very Poor Quality! Nothing but misery with this expensive, stainless steel face dishwasher. It has been repaired four times for blown fuse and other issues. No cycle control and dishes do not get that clean. I am very unhappy with all kitchen aid appliances and will not purchase anything from them again. Our experience with Kitchen Aid appliances has never been good. They cost a great deal to maintain since they constantly break and require repair.

This is Kitchenaid model KEBC247VSS02. The problem is common among ALL kitchenaid wall ovens. When using the self-cleaning mode, the oven apparently overheats resulting in a thermal fuse to blow. The oven shuts down completely, the door is locked and the oven cannot be used. Thanks to Youtube, the repair is relatively simple, although the entire double oven must be removed from the wall to replace the fuse. Appliance repair is a minimum of $200- 250. EVERY time the self-clean is used, the fuse blows. Therefore, self-clean CAN NOT be used. Terrible design and useless self-cleaning.

I am so glad I came here to read the reviews as I have a decision to make. I purchased this model Kitchenaid dishwasher which was to be installed today. It didnt work. The installer said it was either the washer motor or the CPU. Im not technically inclined enough to know the difference. He took it back to the store and brought out another one. It didnt work either. The suggestion was made that there was a problem with my power and/or water supply. My Kenmore dishwasher worked for 20 years on those resources.Store tested the machines and found that they were both defective. I was offered the opportunity to have them replace the defective part or get full credit and choose a different dishwasher. My confidence level was very low and it seemed akin to buying a new car, but let us put a new engine in it first. After reading these very helpful reviews, I shall select a different brand of dishwasher. Thank you all.

Purchased Stainless Steel Kitchenaid (Whirlpool Corp) dishwasher 2015-07-29
Purchased Stainless Steel Kitchenaid (Whirlpool Corp) dishwasher 2015-07-29 at the Brick. Total cost including extended 5 yr Trans Global Warranty, delivery and taxes $1350.34. Starting in early 2020 the Dishwasher intermittently stopped dissolving soap which would fall to the bottom of the tub undissolved and stopped drying the dishes which we ignored until May 2020. Called Trans Global many times to solve this problem. They made 3 repairs that included 6 visits from their repair man because he comes with no repair parts and orders them after each visit. He made adjustments and even said he changed the control circuit board. Which did not solve the problem.I finally took a whole Saturday in Jan 2021 and figured out how to read the cryptic service sheet provided with the machine and got the control board to give me the error code readout (with help from Google). Error code 8-2 (8 LED flashes followed by 2 LED flashes) ....check wash pump! Sure enough the bushings that hold the water pump shaft are worn down causing the wash pump to draw high current and stall periodically. Simply put, bad material choice for the bushings by the designers! (Also the rubber tubing & seals and plastic parts of the dish racks are breaking down - also bad material choices). Or was this stainless steel dishwasher designed to fail at 5 years? So the cost in Canadian dollars from Whirlpool Corp. for the repair parts (as the unit is now out of extended warranty) is: 1. W10529163 Wash Pump - Motor $291.77 2. W10445975 Rubber Elbow and 2 Clamps 92.653. W10538166 Rubber Sealing Grommet 33.73Total cost (shipping not included) $418.15 You would think that if the designers made errors they would supply these parts at cost... maybe $75.00??? Basically the cost of repairing this machine is not a good investment as a new one can be purchased for $600. Right now we call this unit our $1350 towel rack! I recommend that people do not support Whirlpool Corp or any other brands associated with them with repeat purchases, I will not.I also wonder if Trans Global Warranty Corp. is complicit in not replacing the pump under warranty because they are well aware of the exorbitant cost of these parts. The sad thing is that this stainless dishwasher that should have lasted at least another 7 or 8 years will end up in the dump. Also I will need several trips to an appliance store to buy a new unit shipped all the way from Korea or Germany.

Today, I was baking chicken, first at a slightly higher temperature than at 350 F. When I took the chicken out, we noticed a small piece of glass the size of a dime on the inside and a crack running from top to bottom. I have read the numerous other posts regarding exploding glass and I seem to have gotten off lucky. However, now I am terrified to use the oven, especially at higher temperatures. I have a kitchen full of KitchenAid appliances. My experience with KitchenAid service has been nothing short of a nightmare. Four years ago, the ice maker in the fridge malfunctioned in the middle of the night and continued to dispense water all night long until it had flooded my kitchen, dining room and basement below, ruining a portion of our hardwood flooring. KitchenAid took no responsibility even though the fridge was only about four years old. We also had continuous problems with our dishwasher not staying closed during the wash cycle. After numerous service calls, we finally discovered there was a recall to replace the latch. The big question now is what is KitchenAid waiting for? The potential danger of the exploding glass is extreme. There seems to be a high frequency of this occurring. Perhaps we can vocalize this on Facebook. There has to be power in numbers. KitchenAid can be certain that I will never buy another major appliance from them again.

KSC23C8EYY Stainless Side by Side Fridge - I got sold this $2,000 plus (I am embarrassed I paid this much for junk) fridge for our brand new home. We were told KitchenAid is a great American-made brand and far easier to fix than any foreign product. Well, here is how I will sum up my opinion of our side-by-side KitchenAid fridge. It’s garbage. On the second day after delivery, here is what happened. It stopped cooling; we had to put everything in a cooler. The door alarm and lights are on even though both doors are closed. The doors are crooked. Water and ice will not dispense. It will not make any ice. A call is in to the place we purchased it from to see what we can do. We are hoping we can exchange it for the cheap foreign-made fridge we originally wanted. We will never buy KitchenAid again. Ill try to remember to do an update to advise on outcome.

I purchased a model KDTE204DSS0 KitchenAid dishwasher on 12/1/14 for $717.48. It has a stainless steel tub. Fourteen months later (2/16) we had water leaking from multiple pinhole leaks in the stainless steel tub where the base of the tub is molded to fit the screen and pump. I called Whirlpool and they said that the tub has a lifetime warranty but it can only be installed by an approved appliance repair facility. That cost $150.00 (I removed, delivered and installed the dishwasher again myself). On 9/8/16 (seven months later) the dishwasher is leaking again and has again the same pinhole leaks in the new tub. I get a slight shock when I touch the screen inside the tub and believe there is a galvanic reaction going on that is eating up the stainless tub at its thinnest area.Since I find no other reviews mentioning this problem, and it appears to be more than just a tub problem but a unit problem (i.e. a lemon), I asked Whirlpool to replace the unit. As you already know, they said no but would replace it for $17.00 less than I paid for the last one less than two years ago. If I paid another $150.00 to replace the last tub that would be about $500.00 a year to wash a load of dishes every other day. This negative review is as much about the manufacturer as it is about the faulty dishwasher.

Like many others, we bought the KitchenAid based on recommendations from HD and other appliance stores. We spent a bit more to get the high temp wash and power scrub features; basic wash by most products simply does not cut it. After about 2 years the pump started making a racket like a hammer tapping very fast on a metal plate. And...no warranty for the pump. The pump!!! Jeesh. Our first dishwasher from GE lasted 20+ years without touching it. Our second, from JennAir, lasted 6 and that is after I replaced the pump, the door seal, the main filter system and the top rack. The KitchenAid we bought...seems about 2 years. KitchenAid is no better than the worst manufacturers out there. What a joke.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago thinking we were paying more to get a quality product. It has been instead inferior and troublesome. A long series of problems began from the start. Crooked footings that made it more challenging to install. Leaking door seal that needed to be replaced. Leaks from some undefined location that require we use and empty a drip pan. Plastic wheels breaking and not staying on track (dumping the full tray into the well) when sliding in full trays of dishes. Poor cleaning compared or prior cheapo washers. Flatware trays that wear out easily even while trying to be careful, and now to top it off, the unit has stopped rinsing the dishes entirely. What a huge waste of money!

We purchased this dishwasher in December 2013. We immediately noticed that the dishes on the top rack and in the utensil tray were coming out dirty, in some cases dirtier than when they went in. In particular, the coffee cups had a baked on residue of detritus that meant we needed to wash them by hand after soaking for a while. We contacted the vendor, Corbeil Electric, who referred us to Whirlpool to get the dishwasher repaired. We had a repair done in January 2014, which did not fix the problem although it was better. We had another repair done in about March, and we waited for a new piece for more than a month. The problem recurred in the summer, and we had it repaired again (same piece replaced) in September. 1 week later, the same problem is still happening. If someone had mentioned in the reviews that the dishwasher did not get the dishes clean, we would not have purchased it. The service from Whirlpool is appallingly bad, with wait times up to 30 minutes to get through to the service line and they apologize profusely each time but say they cannot do anything about our dud dishwasher. The dishwasher is very quiet, but the dishes are dirty when they come out.

I moved into a house with a KitchenAid 42 built-in side-by-side refrigerato
I moved into a house with a KitchenAid 42 built-in side-by-side refrigerator. In Sept. 2013, the ice maker stopped working. A reputable repair company told me the cause was one circuit board. They determined the board was no longer made by KitchenAid, and if a third party board repair company couldnt fix it, the fridge couldnt be fixed. A complete fridge replacement would be about $7,000! The good news: I then uncovered an extended warranty bought by the prior owner. The fridge was purchased Jan 2009, and extended warranty ending Jan 2014. Mercifully, the warranty company transferred the warranty to me, with 3 months left before expiring. The prior owner bought the fridge and warranty from a high touch, full price appliance store. Turned out the people who do the warranty companys repair are the people at this appliance store who told the same story as the earlier repair company. They sent the offending board to a board repair company and meanwhile supplied a loaner fridge as without that circuit board not only did ice maker not work, the entire fridge didnt work. Board repair company returned it a few weeks later, saying it was unrepairable. Now the warranty company had to replace the refrigerator, so they are actually the big losers, not me.Everyone involved tells me its not unusual for a 4-year-old $7,000 refrigerator to fail and be unrepairable after 4.75 years, regardless of the brand, apparently because appliance manufacturers havent placed importance on reliability of electronics. The problem is not specific to KitchenAid. In selecting the replacement fridge, I discovered that parent company Whirlpool owns, among others, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Maytag and Amana. In the store, these brands are obviously the same fridge with minor differences in door and shelf decor. My conclusions after all this: 1) There should be some law requiring Whirlpool (and its several brands) to make it possible to buy parts, including electronics, for at least 10 years, for a $7,000 fridge. Today, Whirlpool stops making some board replacements 4.75 years after manufacturing the unit. Meantime, theres some opportunity here for entrepreneurs who can figure out how to acquire and stock working boards for whatever Whirlpool and its brands are manufacturing now. 2) $7,000 Built-ins are a particular ripoff: for about $2,000 one can buy an almost-as-large free standing counter-depth fridge. A few years from now, it would be lot less painful to lose $2,000 compared to spending $7,000 on a replacement. 3) Ive never bought extended warranties in the past, but an extended warranty saved me. For expensive kitchen appliances with significant electronics, I now buy extended warranties.4) Full-price full-service family-owned appliance stores (where they exist) offer more value than I ever appreciated. They held my hand through the whole process, I always had a working fridge, and they helped get an excellent settlement from the warranty company that they recommended when the fridge was purchased.

After four visits for repair and two door replacements at a cost of $1700.00 a door x 2 $3400.00 for door replacement alone not including a water valve replacement and labor for four trips, my ice maker still does not work. I purchased an all new KitchenAid appliances in 2006 and have had major problems with them. The microwave was a fire hazard because it would randomly start on its own with nothing in it. A service technician was out several times to repair it (three trips in all). Now, the electric range (Model: KESA907PSS02) is not working again! We had the electronic range control and the touch pad replaced within the first year. They were covered under warranty. The same problem occurred this month and KitchenAid (Shari) will do nothing to remedy the problem. The cost to repair the range will be well over $450.00 if we have a technician do the work. I spoke with Shari from KitchenAid and she was not the least bit supportive or apologetic. She kept saying that it was no longer under warranty and there was nothing she could do. They have very poor customer service given my ongoing appliance issues. She was well aware of my appliance issues but was not at all concerned or helpful in providing assistance. We paid more money for the KitchenAid appliances than what we could have spent on other brands because we thought that we were getting premium appliances (definitely not so). Paying more does not mean that they are better! I will never purchase another KitchenAid product and will share my experience with others. They have horrible customer service and poor overpriced products. Shame on them for taking advantage of consumers and not providing a product that stands the test of time. I have paid for this range twice due to the repair costs over the years and I cannot afford to do so especially in these economic times. KitchenAid needs to address consumer satisfaction and produce a better product that warrants the high price tag.

Bottom rack occasionally left track when pulling out by corner rather than center. Paid $700 at Best Buy [in package deal with other appliances] $20 kit & was told this model would last minimum 8-10 years so I didnt purchase $159.00 Geek Squad extended warranty.10/2018 [after 4 years light duty] started making grinding and whining noises. Called Best Buy and they referred me to KitchenAid, who then referred me to local authorized KitchenAid repair service. $125.00 just to come out and diagnose, but could be applied to repair if applicable. After tearing entire machine apart [literally removing from under counter, unscrewing panel & interior components, detaching control panel & parts all over my kitchen] service tech needed to make several calls to his company before finally announcing that it was the *computer* that was shot - which would cost $450.00 to replace. At this point, without any warranty on the rest of the machine - it didnt make sense to repair. KitchenAid helpline was polite but could do nothing to help me. Dilemma is Id prefer to move to Bosch, but most reviews say KitchenAid dries better and I do not want mildewy odor. We purchased the KUDS201XBL1 in April. To this day, we have only seen the clean light 6 times. We have been through 2 different repair companies, 9 emails to KitchenAid, too many phone calls to count, a new control board, being told to turn up our water heater, being told to run the hot water in the sink every time the machine drains and refills, telling us our pipes are bad, maybe it is the motor, the heating element, the control panel again, etc. What we have determined on our own is that the Pro-Wash & Heavy Duty Cycles will not complete. Normal wash and 1 hour wash will complete occasionally as long as the heat dry option is not on. Currently the latest repairman (an outside vendor who in his defense has really tried to work with the company) is waiting for KitchenAid to get back to him. KitchenAid has already told us our warranty does not include replacement, only repair. Well, at this point, I dont expect we will be getting even the repair had. We have lost our food three times and had damage to the floor as a result of the ice maker defrosting. Our last service call replaced the last operating part, and it failed in three days. Today, KitchenAid will require 7 to 10 days to determine what to do. And if they decide to replace it, another 2 or more weeks. So we have no refrigerator again for at least a month!!!! We are not happy.

I have a house in New Jersey that was affected by Sandy. When installing the new kitchen I decided to buy KitchenAid appliances since I had them in my house in Florida and loved them. WHAT A MISTAKE!! I have had the range serviced 4 times now for the same problem (oven not lighting). It was recommended by the store where I bought the range that I should call Whirlpool and request a replacement. The answer I got from Whirlpool was that the warranty does not cover replacement only repairs. So keep in mind when buying KitchenAid that if you get a lemon like I did, you are going to be stuck with it and just keep getting service until your warranty expires. Also, once you get into the extended warranty period (if you still own it by then), you may have more issues. I havent reached that point yet and dont think I will. I think by then I will have replaced this range with a GE.

We bought our KitchenAid Built-In Refrigerator in 2008 for approx $7,500. We have had several issues with the Ice Maker. However, this week, the Main Controller Board went out and had to be repaired. The authorized repair company told us that the Board had been discontinued by KitchenAid and they would work to get the board repaired. I called KitchenAid and eventually got through to someone that explained that the company that produced this board is located in Japan and was hit by the Tsunami and can no longer provide the board. Also, we are out of warranty and this is now our problem. My issue is that I had expectations that this high-end expensive refrigerator would last more than 6 years. A built in refrigerator should be repaired not replaced. I find it unacceptable that KitchenAid wouldnt have a Dual Source for this key component to the refrigerator. Bottom Line - Very Disappointed in KitchenAid!

Called about cracks on inside of door. Two horizontal cracks the largest about 10 long. They told me needed to have a service rep come out. Cost 99.99. I find out this is a common problem with KitchenAid refrigerators and is not covered by any warranty even an extended warranty would have expired in my case (6yrs). The repair is tape and screws or door replacement. This is obviously poor manufacturing that KitchenAid refuses to acknowledge. Shame on them.

Do not, I repeat, do not but a KitchenAid dishwasher... unless you expect to pay thousands of dollars to own it. I have model # KUD5301xbtr bought in 2011. Within 4 months, I had 4 service calls to replace a fuse. At that time, KitchenAid told me I was trying to get a new dishwasher. Gee, told them I had a new dishwasher - just wanted it to work. Finally it was fixed. I use the term fixed loosely. It quit again in early 2013, they would only offer me a new maintenance contract. But the company that does the maintenance contract were total jerks. Let me explain, what I called them about they recorded in their records to make it sound like one thing to their advantage. The long and short of this - the poor dishwasher will be taking space up in a local landfill. I have had my fill. I bought the dishwasher for $700+, and then add all the service agreements; it has become a $1,000 dishwasher that does not work. And KitchenAid will not admit there is a problem. DONT BUY A KITCHENAID!!!

Our KitchenAid oven stopped working after we used the self-cleaning feature for the first time last month. When we tried to use the oven to bake again, the oven would not heat up. We purchased our KitchenAid wall oven, model KEBC147VSS00, serial No. XW5000833 in January of 2009. We called KitchenAid customer service concerning the problem with our built-in wall oven. KitchenAid offered to sell us a one year extended warranty on our oven for $300. That would be in addition to the charge we would pay to have the oven repaired this time, which we estimate to be over $200. They did not have an answer to our question, How has the faulty KitchenAid oven part or parts been improved so as to not malfunction again and cause our oven to be inoperable each time we use the self-cleaning feature? We do not want to have a repair done that may not really fix the problem. We called Consumer Reports. They recommended that we call the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). We will file a complaint with CPCS. In our opinion, this oven should be recalled by KitchenAid.

My KitchenAid refrigerator is only 4 months old and the ice maker has already stopped making ice. It just stopped for no reason. Luckily, its still under warranty so the repair man will be coming out next week but REALLY!?! The dumb thing is only FOUR MONTHS OLD. I am afraid of what will need repairs in the future after the warranty has expired. I didnt read the bad reviews before I bought ALL KitchenAid appliances and that included a dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator. The repair lady told me to Buy the warranty. She said they dont make things like they used to. Now you tell me... very disappointed in KitchenAid. They used to be a very reliable, high end company.

Not realizing this, three of the shelves on the door side are not usable. These are considered extra and are not part of the purchase. I was dumb founded when I noticed that the brackets for these shelves were not included with the refrigerator when it was delivered. I was not told these were extra since the floor model DID have these shelves set up with brackets and all!!

I asked around before buying my last dishwasher, hoping to find a brand and a model that would last for some time. Instead, I purchased a Kitchen Aid from Sears. It stopped working last weekend, so we called a Sears for repair. They were booking appointments more than two weeks out. Next, we called a reputable, independent appliance repair shop, and they told us that our dishwasher had a defective motor that would cost more than $500 to replace. So between purchasing the product, paying for delivery, paying for install, then paying for a repair tech to come out and tell me that the dishwasher needed a new motor, I am into this Kitchen Aid dishwasher for more than $1,325 for a dishwasher that didnt even make it to two years of light service.Kitchen Aid should be ashamed of itself for selling an expensive product that couldnt handle 3 washes per week over a year and a half. Their standards and workmanship are not to be trusted, and Im stunned that such an expensive piece of equipment had such a short life. I conclude by saying that I will never buy a Kitchen Aid appliance again, and I dont recommend that anyone who reads this become a customer either.

In the Spring of 2006, I purchased 4 new KitchenAid appliances for my new gourmet kitchen. Within a month, the control panel of the slide-in oven had to be replaced. The oven stopped working a month ago. The dishwasher has been performing worse and worse every week for a year.I am tired of rewashing by hand all my gritty dishes and glasses. We rinse dishes before we put them into the machine and they come out dirtier than when they went in! Today I will spend the day taking it apart in the hope of cleaning out the guts and getting it to work. Never had to do this to any other dishwasher before. The Magnatron in the microwave had to be replaced one year ago ($125) out of pocket. Two months ago a chip in the control panel had to be replaced ($150), I should have listened to my girlfriend who said throw it out and buy a different brand. My french-door Kitchen Aid fridge has half a dozen broken plastic parts. I have never seen anything so flimsy. I have no kids man-handling my appliances, they are just poorly made.Thirty years ago I got a top quality Kitchen Aid mixer, it still works like new. That is what led me to buy Kitchen Aid everything when I did my upgrade in 2006. I had forgotten that the mixer was really made by Hobart (a really good company) What happened to Kitchen Aid? When did they start making the worst quality appliances? Or was it always this way with them?

While wiping out the interior of the upper oven to my KitchenAid Electric Double Oven Range, after completing a 2.5 hour self-cleaning process and the cool down period, I noticed an area of the blue interior coating (enamel?) began chipping away. The oven is less than one year old and under warranty. A service person inspected the oven, stated this part is not removable for replacement or repair. The service person telephoned in the concern and was informed of a patch/repair paint kit and said it will be shipped to me. However, it was suggested I contact KitchenAid directly if I found this solution to be unsatisfactory. After the departure of the service person, I inspected the chipped area further. Cracking was noticed on both sides of the chipped area that extends out an inch to an inch and a half on each side causing concern that the issue will continue.KitchenAid customer service was contacted and this manufacturing defect was reported. The KitchenAid customer service representative stated that KitchenAid is not able to provide any help or assistance with this issue since these material and workmanship defects are excluded from warranty coverage after 30 days from the date of purchase.

I purchased a KitchenAid double oven, microwave and dishwasher between March and April this year. On May 24th, the day school was out for the summer the microwave stopped heating. I called customer service and they said that a replacement would be delivered soon. Called again on 6/5 as nothing had come as promised and was told I was just approved for replacement and that I would get it in another 5 to 7 days. Called today 6/13 and was told the microwave is on backorder and they are not sure when I will get it. No effort to resolve the situation. Other than, I will talk to the expedite board and get back to you in 24 hours. It is ridiculous to go without a microwave that you paid over $600 for and it lasted less than 60 days. I saw that the retailer I purchased the unit from has some in stock and asked the customer service rep to get one from them and get it installed this week. Rep had to get approval for it. Frustrated and disappointed with KitchenAid regarding refrigerator model number KSC23C8EYY03 bought new in October 2014. Purchased refrigerator in October 2014 for residential use. In May 2016, owners observed ice accumulation behind the crisper drawers of the refrigerator. Items in fridge were not being cooled to appropriate temperature and freezer cold but not adequately freezing contents. Not under warranty at that time, owners called a local service company to review situation and a part was replaced.Owner then purchases a warranty, which was enacted in September 2016 when the same issue presented itself. Since then KitchenAid warranty has been called - February 2017, July 2017, October 2017, February 2018 and now April 26, 2018 - all for the same issue. The refrigerator is essentially inoperable during each service request every 2-5 months, resulting in food spoilage and loss of money. Owners are aware of the Lemon Law, however, there is no recognition on KitchenAid Warranty’s part on customer frustration regarding the investment of money into a product that has simply proven 6 times over that it does not work. It wasn’t until speaking with a KitchenAid Warranty supervisor today (April 2018) that owner was informed about the option of filing a food loss claim (again, after dealing with KitchenAid Warranty 5 times since September 2016). We again are having the refrigerator serviced, with the expectation that any repair would prove fruitless, a part will be replaced that won’t get us closer to a Lemon Law review, and resulting in a temporary fix that would need to again be serviced in 3 months time. The service repair technician who has serviced the unit all 6 times is equally frustrated that the solutions given to them by KitchenAid Warranty does not fully resolve the situation.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF2
We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

I purchased my KitchenAid Architect Series appliances in June of 2013, from Harrys Discounts Appliance. Unfortunately, dealing with this issue is the biggest headache I ever had. On delivery, the stove looked like it was dropped from the top of a building. The driver said, Please keep it and we will give you a great discount. I informed the driver to return the range and deliver a stove to me with no damage. We examined all the other appliances and they appeared to be undamaged. At the time, my house was under construction and we were not able to have the appliances installed until the contractor put up walls and re-built the kitchen. Upon installation, we didnt realize the Microwave was damaged. Once installed, the light, exhaust fan, timer and clock all were working, so we would assume that the microwave was functioning. However the microwave does not power on. I called KitchenAid for service. At first, they refused to take the call because it was over 30 days. I then called again, and they sent Dan Marc Appliance Repair Company to service the microwave. As per the repairman, parts needed to be ordered. When they returned, a new door was installed and the technician heated a bottle for 10 seconds and it did work. That was the first and last time the microwave functioned properly. After the one time use, I was cleaning the inside of the microwave and I cut my finger on separated metal. I called KitchenAid again; I was told to unplug the unit and they would send service repair, once again. When the repair technician came, he took pictures of the microwave and called KitchenAid. When I followed up I was told that they were going to send A& E Appliance Repair. On the day of service, A&E called and said unless we pay for the service call, they will not be able to repair the Microwave, which I refused to pay.I called KitchenAid again and based on the pictures and information that the repair tech took, I was told that it was determined the microwave could not be repaired and that it would be replaced. They also stated I would receive a follow-up call in 5 days, and no one contacted me. I called again only to be told that it was more than 30 days and it was damaged and would not be replaced.Let move on to the Refrigerator. This required repair service to address this issue four times with over a dozen customer service calls. The refrigerator has an ice buildup issue in the freezer and water lies on the freezer drawer. Due to this, we were not able to open the freezer door at all. I then called KitchenAid and they sent a service repair technician for this issue. After the repair was supposedly complete, I opened the refrigerator to find water & ice cycles hanging from the top of the refrigerator. After one of the repairs, I called to tell them about the water in the Refrigerator. Customer Service transferred me to a special department that was handling this issue. I was informed that KitchenAid has been aware of the problem and parts need to be designed to correct the problem. Apparently, KitchenAid is aware about this issue even before these appliances were sold. Meaning, Kitchen Aid knowingly sells faulty products to consumers. So when the parts were ready for installation I would receive a call. I was told to keep a towel handy to wipe up the water. This is absolutely unacceptable. For one of Kitchen Aids newest line of appliances I shouldnt have to keep a towel handy for anything, especially brand new products. The refrigerator has had repair visits on August 12, 26, September 16, 30, October 12. I called again for service on October 15, 2013 and I have not heard from the repair company. Unfortunately, I am still having the same problem. As for the stove, the grates on the range top are turning gray, the burns, caps & top are not able to come clean. Once again KitchenAid will not do anything because the product is more than 30 days old. The appliances I threw away that were 20 years old functioned better and were more reliable than these new Kitchen Aid appliances.I am incredibly frustrated at this entire process and have been dealing this issue for over two and half months. For a brand new line of appliances from what supposedly is a trustworthy company I have spent countless hours on the phone with customer service and days waiting for repair technicians to fix my appliances. Yet, nothing is functioning properly.I have spent over $4000 of my hard-earned money and waited over 25 years to re-do my kitchen and all I truly want is appliances that are reliable and function correctly. I am hoping that someone can help me; all I want is what I pay for working appliances. Please dont hesitate to contact me if you need any additional information. Thanking you in advance.

KitchenAid range KDRU783 - This stove has been a nightmare. First, the right-hand front burner was burning with an irregular, bright yellow flame. Called repair; their assessment Lady, you just need to use a bigger pot. (Pardon me, Im a chemist by training, I know incomplete combustion when I see it.) Called again, no better luck; spent several years putting up with carbon deposits on my pots. Finally, the burner became unusable; it literally burst into flame and sent up black smoke. This time I called the repair from the store where I bought it -- a well-known chain -- and they sent a technician who spent time investigating. Found the problem -- a connection to the propane line had come loose. Then, an additional problem occurred: the touch panel would start clicking when we used the left-hand front burners. It would flash on and off at 350 degrees, or 500 degrees, or some other setting but would NOT turn off. At worse, the entire stove -- both ovens -- would become inoperable. This second problem resulted in 3 trips by the repair people, who replaced the unit twice and then a third time with no change. However, the 3rd set of technicians think they have figured out whats going wrong -- and I have an appointment the day before Christmas, thank you very much. Right after they left, a third problem occurred: the left hand back burner next to the griddle keeps sending sparks; we have checked that one of the covers on the burners might be off center, but thats not the case. The result is that the only way we can stop the sparking is to keep the burner turned on low (so that we can use the other burners and the ovens) or to turn off the circuit breaker. I would like to hear from other people who have this range and find out whether this might be a common defect.

11 mos. old side x side SS KitchenAid fridge stopped making ice. Whirlpool/KitchenAid Customer Service gave name and phone for our local authorized KA repair service. Fantastic response from service folks, but ice jam was caused by faulty evaporator - replaced. Next day, water all over kitchen flooring - serviceman came and left to order new ice maker. Installed a day later. Next day, water all over flooring again. Service came, contacted Whirlpool Service Tech who told him to replace the whole freezer door. Done 2 days later. That night, water all over the floor and entire mechanical portion of ice maker frozen so could not work. Next day, new water valve installed. That night, no ice. Next day water tubing siliconed. That afternoon, water dispenser wont shut off as the little valve finishes calling for water. Service guy came.Going to conference with his owner and Service Tech at Whirlpool... Service tech tells him to install a tiny shim under the freezer door washer. Done. That evening (3rd visit by repairman same day!) water flooding flooring once again. We have a lemon, but appears that we ALL have lemons. The IN company that sold me this suite of appliances by KitchenAid has now - 11 mos. later - stopped even listing them as products on their gigantic website! Another telling facet. I purchased an existing house with a KitchenAid Superba stove/cooktop and microwave combo. Everything worked fine for 6 months until I got the crazy idea to use the self-cleaning mode. The oven no longer heats now. I tested the heating elements and they are both fine. I found out that it is most likely the thermal shutdown fuse, a part that runs about $45-$50 online. I can do the replacement myself but as many others have said, I wont use the self-cleaning mode again. For those who cannot afford the cost for a service call, its a pretty easy part to replace - if in fact that is all that went bad during the self-clean. After reading the hundreds of the same complaints out there, I guess I feel lucky that my oven didnt literally explode and possibly hurt my 3 year old. I would be willing to join in a lawsuit, should a lawyer out there be interested.

I purchased all KitchenAid appliances with the thought that they were the best. Since the purchase, the dishwasher has been repaired three times and is currently needing repair again; the refrigerator has been repaired twice - once the compressor had to be replaced; the range has been repaired twice and still takes about an hour to preheat, in addition the surface knobs turn on so easily that just brushing against them turns the burners on accidentally - the dog has turned them on twice - once when no one was home - nearly catching the house on fire; the microwave currently makes a popping noise and has had to be repaired once before. All of these repairs are in addition to minor repairs like refrigerator shelves/doors breaking and handles coming off. I will never again buy a KitchenAid appliance. KitchenAid products are worthless and have a terrible design.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in March 2011 from Lowes. I chose the KitchenAid brand and paid a slightly higher amount as I was told they are well built and work better than any other brand on the market, and because I thought they would stand by their product. In December 2012, the upper rack adjuster broke because it is made of plastic and the dishwasher has the lift higher feature, that is used quite a bit. I contacted customer service and they said the part was out of stock and finally in late January I received the replacement part. Last week it broke again, same place, so I contacted customer service again and I asked them if anyone else has this issue and I was told they could not discuss this with me but there is no recall. Was told I am sorry but the part is in stock, call Marcone to order the part. The cost is $40.00 plus shipping. I am so angry right now. I have a dishwasher that is useless. I inherited a KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUD102CRBS) when I bought my house. It appears to be a mid to high-end model. It worked fine for the first 8 months or so. Then the counterbalance system for the door (which is quite heavy) broke, and the door came crashing down. Now, the latching mechanism has failed, and the door keeps popping open. The unit doesnt do such a great job at cleaning the dishes, either. From what I have gathered, KitchenAid used to be a good brand. I have purchased smaller items with this brand name. However, given my experience with this unit, the price that the previous owners surely must have paid and the surprising number of complaints on this site, I have changed my position. Its probably not worth the cost to repair it, so I will probably replace it with a high-quality make & model as rated by its users. Unless I hear much better things about the brand in the future, I will never buy KitchenAid again.

Immediately called KitchenAid and was told they would have to file a claim and then decide what will be done. Its Tuesday. I have had no refrigeration since Friday and now I hear horror stories about the complete lack of response from manufacturer. Never Never Never buy a KitchenAid. I cant believe I did.

The oven sensors dont work properly, and when using double oven, unit shuts down and lower door locks. It seems like many others on this site have had the same problem. It sounds like a class action suit to me as it also appears Kitchenaid does nothing to make it right. When you pay over $2,000 for an oven, you expect a solid 10 to 15 years of use. That is not what is happening. My choices are to pay another $2,000 to $3,000 for a new oven or $500 to $800 for repairs every 4 to 5 years or so. Its not good either way.

The top racks are difficult to load with glasses and cups as the metal rods
The top racks are difficult to load with glasses and cups as the metal rods interfere with loading. Equipped with eco wash and top tray can be adjusted vertically. Probably a good size as any larger would require second setting of dishware. The only beef I have with this unit is the fact that its noisy. What can a few inches of insulation cost?

I loved the way this fridge keeps produce fresh. However, several months after the warranty expired the ice maker quit working. Service man (recommended by appliance store) replaced it but did not fix the problem. They then replaced the compressor, evaporator, and valves. Quit working again. Now they say that it is a sensor (or a board) and needs to be ordered but will take 1-2 weeks. Ive lost two full freezers loads full of frozen food because the freezer temperature wont go below 30 degrees. Repair man stated that this model has 6 boards that can go wrong and often do. Today, ice maker is not producing ice again! Have another call into serviceman. This is the most expensive ($3,700) and the most problematic refrigerator that Ive ever owned. Am looking for a new refrigerator and am sure that it will NOT be a Kitchenaid.

I have a built in side by side KitchenAid fridge purchased in 2007. The water input valve, part number w10146431 stopped working but the part was discontinued and is no longer available so the fridge cant be repaired. Whirlpools attitude was I can buy a new fridge at a discount. There should be a law that parts have to be available for 10 years so major appliances can be repaired. I think Whirlpool deliberately discontinues certain parts to force consumers to buy new appliances. Based on that thought I would never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

We went with the KitchenAid suite of appliances because we liked the reviews we read about the dual fuel double oven range (KDRS505X). I like my oven a lot....except the cooking surface scratches so easily! How am I ever going to clean around the burners when it seems the surface scratches when barely touched. Our microwave hood (KHMS2040) had turned out to be a terrible choice. The vent fan is horribly loud. Service came out to look at it about 3 weeks ago and determined we needed a new motor. (That wont come for another 3 weeks). This past weekend, the fan AND microwave suddenly turned on by itself. The microwave light came on and the turntable started turning. And it was louder than ever. We couldnt turn it off by pushing the cancel button or the fan button. Finally had to unplug it. Now we are afraid to leave it plugged in. What if it turned on by itself and we werent home? Scary.

My 7 year old KitchenAid dishwasher has quit working. After the first 2 years, I had to purchase the silverware caddy because the PLASTIC in the bottom of the silverware caddy had pieces broken and silverware was falling through. Then about a year later, PLASTIC brackets on the top rack broke. Replaced those. Now, the PLASTIC door is broken where the screw should be, and the touch panel is not working. JUNK! I once had a Maytag that I ran two times a day & never had to replace a single part on it, and it ran for 12 years!

On November 11, 2016, we purchased all new KitchenAid kitchen appliances (nearly $10,000) from a local reputable appliance dealer. On December 27, 2016, we took delivery of the new appliances, and after cabinet modifications, the fridge (Model KRFC704FSS) was installed and working by the second week in January 2017. Near the end of May 2017, we started to notice reduced cooling and slow ice making in the fridge, and arranged for a service call. The service rep came out June 19, 2017, and concluded the main control board needed to be replaced. One problem, since this was a new model/design parts were not available, and we did not know when the parts would be made available! After being without a fridge for weeks and many phone calls, the parts were finally overnighted, and the main control board was replaced. This appeared to fix the problem for several months until just recently over the holidays.Keep in mind, we spent nearly $3500 for this fridge with LED lighting, wood serving tray, digital controls, etc., and absolutely love the looks, style, and functionality of it; However, we are now experiencing the same problem as before (not cooling and slow ice production), and again set up for a service call on January 3, 2018. The service tech came out and after running a few codes and consulting by phone with the Whirlpool/KitchenAid service repair team, spent nearly 3 hours completely disassembling the inside of the fridge to defrost the condenser cooling coils and reassemble the fridge. He indicated this should last for a several weeks, but also indicated the ultimate fix would have to wait until he returned to apply a silicon caulk along the exterior seam between the outer stainless-steel skin and interior plastic shell. Since he did not have the right color of caulk, he needed to order it from Whirlpool/KitchenAid, which should arrive in a few weeks. Since we had the initial problem under the original warranty, we elected to purchase the extended manufacturer’s warranty service plan (3-years); so, this activity was being covered (i.e., no out of pocket). After conducting some research (like Anthony), we discovered this same fridge model and problem is documented across the internet. The model had already been redesigned (less than a year in production). Giving this some thought, and not liking the direction the repair was heading, we decided to start working with Whirlpool/KitchenAid directly to resolve my concern. Here is where it gets very interesting.Initially, we went to the KitchenAid website and followed directions for a customer concern by sending an email to NAR Customer Solutions @KitchenAid.com. On 1/3/18, Lisha called and left a voicemail and requested a callback to 1-800-331-2689 and mention Ref # **. After about 40 minutes of hold, we talked with someone in Michigan (MI) who wanted to know if we used social media (?). We informed him no, that we just sent an email to NAR. Wrong department… He sent us to Kimberly in MI. When she realized we were on an extended service plan, again wrong department, and was told to call 1-866-265-2082. After about 30 minutes of hold, we get Ashley in Tennessee, we believe with AIG (the extended service plan underwriter). Then, we’re forwarded to Amber at 1-800-253-1301 and told to mention Ref #**. After going thru the whole spiel again with her, we’re told to talk to her supervisor Marisa (?). She informs us there is nothing flawed with this fridge, and we must go the repair route. Not liking the fix for the fridge, we persisted to pursue a replacement that would work without a modification of additional caulking. We called again and talked with Katrina in MI with KitchenAid, who understood our concern that the repair was being made outside of the service contract by making an addition or modification using caulk and not repairing with new or refurbished parts, but she had to discuss with the service rep to confirm that was the fix. The next day she called back and left me a voicemail and requested I call back to 1-866-640-7146 and ask for her or Aleah. Unfortunately, this was not a direct line (as she indicated), and we were sent thru the same calling tree, recordings, on-hold, transfers, etc., again as previously mentioned.Long story short, we finally gone thru to an Andrew in TN; then an Erin in TN; then her supervisor Katzman; and finally, the “Resolution Manager” in MI (?), Gabby (ext. **). This appeared to be where the buck stopped. She insisted that by adding the caulk, this was a fix under the extended contract (using new parts) because the caulk had a Whirlpool part # (even though caulk was not intended or initially installed there). We expressed our concern that the remedy to add a bead of caulk sealant to the exterior joint between the stainless steel shell and interior plastic was not a “repair” using “new or refurbished parts”, and that it was an “addition or modification”, and only appeared to be a “band-aid” fix for the poor design of air flow that was changed on this model of fridge within a year… She disagreed. After spending about a half-hour on the phone with this manager, we were at the end of our rope. She thanked us for our time and mentioned she would document in our file our dissatisfaction with the proposed remedy to fix our fridge. In summary, if Whirlpool/KitchenAid were to admit and own up to this poor design flaw having subsequent failures, they’d be needing to recall and replace several units; hence, the reason for what we have gone thru and “contract misinterpretation” push back. We will proceed with the current fix, and tolerate at least 3 more repair visits over the next 3-years until the “No Lemon Guarantee” stipulation as provided in the KitchenAid Service Plan kicks in. Unless a class action lawsuit is initiated. Stand-by to see how that goes!
