In Nov. 2017 we installed KitchenAid double ovens, model KODE500EBS02. The ovens look very nice, but they are not for bakers. They take 10 to 15 minutes to preheat, they do not brown bake goods on the bottom, and they take longer to bake an item. The baked item is never done by the suggested time on a recipe. The ovens also bake hotter in the back. These were very expensive, so I am stuck with them, however, I would not recommend them to anyone else.

KitchenAid electric range # KERS807SSS00. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid! They don’t deserve a star! Because They sold out to Whirlpool to avoid covering their poorly built products that should’ve had been recalled or, came up with a seal to prevent control board burnout! This is my second spillover and the dash control panel is burned out again. At least the range does work because it’s independent from the oven, you do need the control panel to operate the oven. I called KA which is Whirlpool now. Whirlpool, simply have a way of not covering any warranties on KA. They always have an excuse. Or, there’s no record of a complaint by me or by anyone else on this issue!I find that hard to believe because I had a spillover and I called and complained to KA within two months of purchase about the faulty glass top (No Seal) to prevent spillovers from the glass top to the bottom of where the control board burned out. Which they did cover because it was during the warranty period. And their excuse was, “Didn’t you read the manual?” Well No Maam! I didn’t! This is the third one in my family, and there’s been spillovers and nothing was blown out!! I should have realized. They had General Electric ranges. At the cost of $ 480.00 plus labor for the part. We will rather buy a new range other than KA or Whirlpool or any other products made by them!! In the meantime, I’ll be grilling out on the grill ☀️????

In September 2013, we remodeled our kitchen. I looked forward to having 30 double electric wall ovens, but over the years have been VERY disappointed! Preparing last evenings dinner really made me want to write & share my frustrations! The ovens take an inordinately long time to come up to temperature. Once it might be reached, it does NOT remain! The fan is noisy and sometimes seems to vibrate. Cookies become very browned in the back right corner. Last evening I started using the top oven to bake a pork tenderloin. Gave it a long time to pre-heat & it never really reached 325 degrees. I reset it for 350 which again, it did not attain. I finally tried the lower oven, using the convection Rapid heat to bring it up to temperature more quickly. Once it neared 350 degrees, I turned off the convection & used the regular bake. I had to rotate the pan several times to keep it from browning in the back. I have wasted too much mental time being frustrated with these! We did have a repairman visit, he adjusted the temperature & could offer no comments/suggestions re the fan, etc. Am looking for new ovens, but needed to vent.

I purchased all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances in October 2009 from Bad Boy in Whitby. I also purchased the Gold extended warranty. I noticed about a week ago March 24, 2015 that the bottom of the fridge (model: KBRS22KVss1 and S/N KY3628480) has a crack right in the middle coming out from under the deli drawer. I called Bad Boy but of course the extended warranty expired in December 2014. I then checked the warranty in the KitchenAid manual but it expired the same time. I have never in all my 62 years seen or heard of a cracked liner yet in the manual it states it will pay for replacement or repair of the refrigerator/freezer cavity liner if the part cracks due to defective materials or workmanship. Just on the off chance I called KitchenAid....Due to the age of the refrigerator there is no warranty but they can send a serviceman for $89.00 for the first 15 mins. I talked to the parts department to get an idea of that cost and the liner is not a replaceable part but they do have a patch kit. He could not tell me how much that would be or what it consists of as its a service kit and hes not a serviceman. Beware appliances are made to last 5 years only.

Bought our KitchenAid spring 2016. November 2016, I noticed our cupboards next to the dishwasher are ruined because someone at KitchenAid had a brilliant idea of doing a side steam vent instead of a front vent. Clearly the product designer at KitchenAid has never used their own product... or they just dont care about the consumers buying a poorly designed product.

I purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher model kdpe234gps0 8 months ago. I have always like Kitchenaid, however this dishwasher has been a thorn in my side because it does not dry my dishes. It is almost easier to handwash and dry the dishes and be done. Instead the dishwasher runs for a long time and when you open to put up dishes you then have to dry each and every item. I would not recommend this product.

This three-year-old dishwasher that is used infrequently, has a broken wash motor. This component, the most important one, is not covered by warranty. The company provided me with service repair providers who wish to charge $400 on a $700 dishwasher. The company does not offer a quality product. A major appliance such as a dishwasher should last longer than 3 years without a significant repair bill.

KDRS483VSS - DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID RANGES!! They dont know how to repair them and their policy is not to replace them but to repair them. I am talking about an $8000 dual fuel range that I have waited years to purchase only to find out that once it was delivered the only thing working properly was the gas top. This is a very classy looking expensive piece of JUNK metal. The hinges on the large oven dont pull the door closed enough to turn off the oven light and you have to press the door in to turn light off. I now have no working ovens at all and this was through the Thanksgiving Holidays. No one cared!!! The oven shows several error codes and now just does nothing. I thought that KitchenAid was a reputable company but that is not the case. This is a known problem with these units. After many complaints still no results!!

Over the past week I have been placed on hold for 7 hours. The one time I did speak with someone about an exchange they were rude and misleading regarding the problems with this product, come to find out. When I had such a difficult time with corporate I went back to the dealer. After going through their channels, I was told that corporate tried to email me (not true) and wanted me to call them back! We purchased a stainless KitchenAid range less than 2 years ago, model #KGRS205TSS2. What designer would decide to make the interior of the knobs out of plastic? Weve had 2 knobs crack. The exterior is stainless but the interior is brittle plastic. Customer service says its out of warranty, and they are $23 each plus shipping. This is a design flaw and not a routine maintenance item! They should stand by faulty products and send replacements free of charge! This leaves me with a bad taste for KitchenAid!I have no intention of buying KitchenAid again. The customer service agent said there were no exceptions and, You cannot go by brand name.

I purchased all KitchenAid appliances with the thought that they were the best. Since the purchase, the dishwasher has been repaired three times and is currently needing repair again; the refrigerator has been repaired twice - once the compressor had to be replaced; the range has been repaired twice and still takes about an hour to preheat, in addition the surface knobs turn on so easily that just brushing against them turns the burners on accidentally - the dog has turned them on twice - once when no one was home - nearly catching the house on fire; the microwave currently makes a popping noise and has had to be repaired once before. All of these repairs are in addition to minor repairs like refrigerator shelves/doors breaking and handles coming off. I will never again buy a KitchenAid appliance. KitchenAid products are worthless and have a terrible design.

This is an update to my post here on 11/24/2011. KitchenAid dishwasher KUDE70CVSS2, 1.5 years old, sanitized light was blinking at end of sanitize wash, i.e. water was not heated up high enough to sanitize the dishes. Finally, it was repaired today, 2/8/2012, almost 11 weeks since it broke. We had 8 service repair visits made by 4 technicians from 2 service repair companies. During this period, the printed circuit board was replaced twice. We were told our hot water supply was not hot enough by one technician who didnt come prepared with a thermometer. A different visit and technician with a thermometer measured it at 142 degrees, well above the 120 degrees the KitchenAid manual says is needed. We were told the problem was in our household wiring. That was a miscommunication between one service repair company and the extended warranty company. Then the entire washer unit with pump and diverter valve was replaced, today, the 8th visit, and the unit now sanitizes and works just fine. Now Ill tell you how to navigate through the bad technicians, miscommunications and so on that I learned after being frustrated when the second service call did nothing to fix the problem. Inside the kick panel of the KitchenAid dishwasher is a large folded paper enclosed in a waterproof pouch. It a technicians debug sheet that describes how to operate and analyze the results of a built-in self test. Yes, these dishwashers can perform a rather complete self test that concludes with a code indicating what the problem is. Read the sheet in your washer to understand the proper sequence of front panel button presses needed to begin the self test. But beware, the test in my washer can be run to either display the concluding results, or skip the display. You will need to run it in the display mode to read the results, duh. Duh, because the first technician kind of ran it in the other mode and never saw the result. None of the other technicians even ran the self test. It takes about 27 minutes to run, and you have to sit and watch the lights flash so as to catch the final conclusion. Huh, KitchenAid? The technicians would rather just replace stuff than wait 27 minutes to find out whats wrong. But I ran it, not just once, but many times, and I always got error codes 4-1 and 4-4. And the documentation says that one of the causes of a blinking sanitized light is error codes 4-1 or 4-4. Duh again, only on the 7th service call did the technician say lets see what 4-1 and 4-4 are and the answer was an issue with the diverter valve, so he ordered a new one, replaced it on the 8th visit and the washer runs just fine. So run that self-test, get the error codes, then insist the repair company fix the error reported by the self-test. With each technician, I point to the KitchenAid refrigerator I bought in 1987 that still runs well, and, each has chirped, dont buy another KitchenAid refrigerator. Im not buying another KA dishwasher either!

In January of 2013 I bought a KUDE70FXSS dishwasher. It was a top line model and I wanted to buy local. The racks are now rusting out as they come with nonpermanent little plastic caps at the end of the racks. We didnt realize they were gone and now the whole rack is starting to rust to the point where new caps wont fit on the racks. How wonderful! I paid over $1400.00 for this unit and now its rusting out. What a poor design. KitchenAid or my supplier P.C. Richard wont cover it because its considered cosmetics . I should have bought a German dishwasher! Im disgusted! You try to do the right thing!

Our KitchenAid dishwasher W10321621D has to be located just below the busiest food prep/washing counter. After starting, it appears if theres the slightest bump against the washer, it will shut off - all lights go out. It wont even hold the point where it needs to resume. We have to put in more soap and restart the process. Sometimes we dont realize what has happened until the next day. A younger family member will open the dishwasher. Ill start unloading and then realize the contents are still not clean, figured out what happened, and then try to figure out what has to go back in! Very aggravating. It could have something to do with the exposed touchpad on the front, even though we have been so cognizant not to touch while running. We now have to put a chair in front of the dishwasher every time it runs to make sure no one goes within 2 feet of it. Hard to work around.

Brand new oven. Used oven in bake mode twice before. First time using in convection roast, set temp at 350, 45 minutes later heard a pop, went into kitchen, fine glass shards on floor, glass door in oven shattered. Called kitchenaid, they asked questions, said they would transfer me to the safety department, and disconnected me. I re-called, waited another 8 minutes and finally got connected to a person. Asked if anyone was hurt, I stated my dog got cut on his foot, they said they were sorry. They set up a repair appointment for the next week, they said if the repairperson had the glass they would fix it, otherwise they would order the part. I asked why they didnt tell them to bring the part, they said that was up to the repair people. I asked if there was any compensation for the meal in the oven covered in glass, they stated they dont do that. I asked if this was a recurring problem, she never did really answer, except to say that it is glass and glass does break. This issue really should be revealed when purchasing, and the extent of the problem revealed and pursued. If anyone had been in the kitchen at the time, they definitely would have gotten hurt.

This refrigerator is an expensive $9000 built in KBSN602ESS00. It is a replacement for another KitchenAid of the same size. I have had 4 service calls hoping for a tech that can stop the loud, disruptive shaking, rattling noises this unit makes. It is so loud it can easily be heard in the next room where I watch tv. I have spoken to Kitchenaid numerous more times hoping for a solution.Besides the loud ice maker filling with water, the obnoxiously disturbing loud noises from ice cubes dropping, the compressor humming loudly at two different speeds, this built-in makes a sound like metal being shaken and rattling. It can make this noise 6 times in 20 minutes. It does it in the middle of the night, during the morning, every time water is being added to the ice maker. Even if you push the ice maker arm into the off position, this refrigerator still makes the shaking, rattling noises. It wastes your time with tech appointments. Whats worse is Whirlpool apparently tells techs its a water line moving problem. Two techs have told me the noise is internal to the refrigerator. Each tech has called into Whirlpool for a solution, yet that expensive, disruptive unit is still sitting in my kitchen. It has also had temperature control issues. Thirty-four degrees is the coldest setting for this refrigerator. It does not always maintain this temperature on its shelves though. It also has the capacity to drop the freezer to -15 F. That wasted a good portion of my day. Waiting for techs, 4 times has wasted another 4-hour blocks I had to fit in to still be left with this disturbing refrigerator. The salesman quit working for the store I purchased it from about a month after the unit was installed. A second salesperson assured me she would contact Kitchenaid. I have heard nothing back.

I am sick to my stomach... Just redid my entire kitchen in KitchenAid products thinking they were a good investment. The built-in wall oven is the WORST. I have used it once, for one batch of cookies - 350 degrees, bake time - 10 minutes. The first sign of trouble was how loud the oven was when cooking, seriously annoying. I figured I could get used to that, thinking it was just new technology at work. Was I ever wrong. The fan (and it is loud) has continued for an hour... As I write this, it is still as loud as can be. And we are talking only 10 minutes of cook time at 350 degrees! I am so bummed I cant stand it. I have never written a review for anything in my life, but because I know that I am going to have absolutely no recourse on this (I can hear it now... But there isnt anything wrong with the oven), Id like to prevent someone else from making the same mistake.

Just like the last poster, my KitchenAid KUDS30IX is the WORST appliance I have ever purchased. Just 4 months after the one year warranty expired the already very wobbly top rack started losing plastic pieces and falling off when it had dishes in it. I called and they immediately knew what my problem was. They already had repair kits available for the problem which tells me many others have the same problem. Some of the parts in the repair kit are metal. Now it is not getting water to the top sprayers which means the top dishes are not getting clean. All the interior parts are flimsy and unstable except the stainless interior. The grinder gets louder by the day. I am completely dissatisfied with this product. I had other KitchenAids which were better quality, but I guess KitchenAid does not worry about making a quality product anymore. Warning. Dont buy one, youll regret it.

We bought all new appliances for our lake house from the same company we had bought appliances for our primary home (and NO it was not from a big box store but a legitimate appliance company). In 2013 we purchased KitchenAid refrigerator, dishwasher, double oven, range, microwave. The first season we had issues with the freezer draw icing shut and condensationing. Called the company. They came out and made some adjustments. Everything seemed ok. In 2014 we noticed the ice would work periodically, but then just started working. The range and microwave have never kept the correct clock time. Then late summer about a month prior to shutting the house down for the season. The freezer just stopped working. Then wishing 14 days the refrigerator stopped working. Being the end of the season, we emptied the appliance. I have called the company that we had purchased the appliances from (which had went bankrupt and was purchased by another vendor). I have yet to receive a call from the vendor. Know Im stuck on an island and trying to find an appliance company to hopefully repair my 3-year-old refrigerator. Unless the appliance can be repaired reasonably soon and at a fair cost I would never purchase or recommend KitchenAid appliances again.

We purchased a KitchenAid SuperBa double oven KEBC207KSS05 a couple of years ago and have had it repaired 4 times already. Two times because the control panel went out because it got too hot the repair person said. The fan became very loud and we had to replace that and the fourth time was because the upper oven stopped working but the lower oven still worked. Since the fan was replaced, the oven still makes the control panel get too hot and everything totally shuts off. After it cools down, the panel comes back on. Cant bake anything over 375 degrees it appears, or it shuts off. One piece of advice from the repairman, besides not using the self clean is to cut a large rectangle out of the side of the cabinet and put a steel vent cover over the hole. I shouldnt have to cut a part my cabinet in order to have this crappy oven work better. The double oven we had in before the KitchenAid was a Kenmore from 1992 and still worked perfectly and never gave us a lick of trouble. Now we need to scrap this one and look to spend money that we shouldnt have to. Its so hard to believe that the workmanship at KitchenAid is so bad. Where is their pride?

I looked and looked at gas ranges - I was very excited to be able to use gas again. I selected this Kitchen Aid stove and was not told that the central oval burner, which I paid extra to have, would not provide more than a low flame. You buy the whole 5th unit for just pancakes only! The self-cleaning oven will not clean the sides of the oven, only the pan over the burner. The little top oven is meant only for warming, not baking or cooking because it cooks so unevenly that toast, food and cookies are done on the glass side and burned on the back side. I have had KA service people out twice and they say that thats the way it is and that it registers 350 degrees when checked. I could have bought an oven for less than 1/2 and had a better oven. I bought my french door bottom mount refrigerator in 2013. I have started having issues with the freezer and ice maker. The technician who came to check the fridge told me that this is a very common problem with KitchenAid. We have to pay $390.00 for labor and if the parts are not covered in extended warranty pay for that too. Our extended warranty ran out in 2018. We were also told that the dye leaks and it will have to be replaced every 4 or 6 months. I am annoyed at the expense this fridge is going to cost us. I called the appliance pros for KitchenAid and they did not help in any way. They are very rude and nobody knows anything there. They went on telling me, “We dont know how things work in Canada.” Well why then are you selling appliances in Canada. They know how to give customers a runaround and beat about the bush. We had our KitchenAid dishwasher serviced 2 times in 3 years of purchase model # kdte104ewh3. The motor went bad 2 years after we purchased it new for $690.00 and the repair was half the cost of a new one, $331.15 for a new motor/pump, Then the problem happened again a year later. Yikes. Honestly, the dishwasher does not clean as good as the one we had there before for 10 years, that one a Kenmore we never had a problem with.

KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDS02FRSS2 - We bought this dishwasher from a local distributor to the trade for more than $1100 in September 2006 and now, in less than 6.5 years, the control panel has stopped working. I tried all the suggestions in the manual and that customer service recommended without results. We set up a service appointment with a KitchenAid certified repair firm with a ridiculous $150 appointment charge. The tech tried to run diagnostics on it with no apparent success and just came back with a, It looks like you need a new control panel! Of course, he tried to sell me a $300+ extended warranty, in case anything else goes wrong. For just $430, I could have my gently used (run less than once a week in its life) $1200 dishwasher back in use. This unit was installed with our kitchen remodel when we also bought KitchenAid cabinet-depth refrigerator, dual fuel range, microwave and dishwasher, $7500 in what we thought were premium appliances. Im pissed at the lack of customer service support and, based on what I read here, are significant quality issues with KitchenAid dishwashers and a company focused more on selling extended warranties. Im a very dissatisfied customer.

We remodeled our kitchen 9 years ago. We put in all KitchenAid appliances. Dishwasher, microwave, gas range and fridge. I have never been more disappointed with a company in my life. This week after numerous service calls we replaced the dishwasher with a Maytag. Your dishwasher did not clean dishes from day one. We suffered for 9 years. The paint and I stress PAINT on the stainless steel microwave wore off the handle after a year. The range has needed the control panel replaced 4 times. The off button fails every 2 years. The ice maker has been replaced 4 times. The last time the tech told us we had the freezer set too cold. Can you imagine? A freezer, too cold? There were many other service issues that I will not mention because I consider them normal wear and tear. These totaled about $1000 over 9 years, which I think is acceptable. The cost for the unacceptable repairs is in excess of $3500.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from KAM Appliances in July of 2012 and received delivery in September as they were on back order. From the beginning, we had difficulty regulating the temperature of the refrigerator. It is model KFFS20EYMS. When I called KAM the first time the technician they sent told me I did not open the refrigerator often enough to let in hot air - in the meantime, I am throwing out enough fresh produce since it seemed that the vegetable crisper was the most troublesome spot. I was also told it had to do with the ice maker being below that although the meat drawer is between them - plus I would assume some type of insulated barrier. The second time I had someone come they replaced a part and told me those thermometers you can purchase to check the temp are no good. The sales department at KAM told me the only thing the could do was sell me a new refrigerator - and this one not even 6 months old. I would never go back to KAM for another appliance and I purchased two other appliances the day I order the refrigerator - thank goodness they were not KitchenAid appliances. When the one year manufacturers warranty ran out, my husband spent a very well invested $49 for an extended warranty. Those men have been here 4 times and I still have frozen produce and now things are freezing in the meat compartment. KitchenAid should stick to stand mixers. If I were a woman of means, I would take this refrigerator and throw it away and buy a Kenmore!! If I could rate it less than one star, I would.

We have a Kitchenaid Superba stove and oven model KGRT607HWH6. It was in our house when we moved in 2004. It has a glass backsplash. Three years ago the backsplash exploded with my 10 year old twin sons and a teenage friend and myself standing within three feet of it. We are lucky we were not hurt. I think the pots cooking on the stove may have been touching the backsplash and it just got too hot. But, what a stupid design for a stove top! The repairman did order a new backsplash for $100. For years I would find tiny pieces of glass stuck in corners and crevices in my kitchen. I guess I should be ashamed to admit it, but I have never used the self-cleaning feature and the oven is quite dirty. I started to look for instructions on-line, but, after reading all the complaints I am scared to try the self-cleaning feature. The instructions say to not use a commercial product. Not sure what I should do.

My KRFC704FPS Counter-Depth refrigerator has had issues since day one. I should have returned in within the 15 day window to Best Buy. It is super noisy and can be heard as far away as the 2nd floor of my home. The freezer temp wont go any higher than -7 degrees on a thermometer and that is with a setting of 5 degrees. I have a super accurate electronic thermometer in the freezer and it can get as low as -20 degrees. If I set it lower than 5 it can get colder. The refrigerator section has to stay at 39 degrees of food starts freezing. KA has been out 3 times for the issue and they wont help. The techs even brought their own thermometers and it states the same. Their only fix is to turn off the ice maker. I paid $4k for a refrigerator and they wont stand behind it. Also, the seal is tearing and water pools up and freezes in the bottom of the freezer. I have had it for 11 months. Every time the tech comes out he says there are issues, but KA wont do anything but say it is normal. I have all KA appliances too.

As one lady from Mount Pleasant, SC reported, we are experiencing the very same issues. Weve owned our 30 inch slide in gas range for 3 years and when you brush up against it you wont even know until later on when you smell gas that one of the knobs was turned ever so slightly emitting the gas fumes. I contacted KitchenAid Customer Experience and reported this matter and to see if they have come up with a fix or recall. There hasnt been any. With all the news of gas explosions happening to houses across the country, this is definitely a safety issue. Im hoping Consumers Union and/or the Consumer Product Safety Commission can do something before someone else experiences a horrifying event.

Re: The factory in Japan was wiped out by the tsunami and the nuclear power
Re: The factory in Japan was wiped out by the tsunami and the nuclear power plant meltdown complicated it. Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) are telling hundreds of consumers they cannot provide a critical component -- main control board -- necessary to repair a frequent problem with their refrigerators. In my case we have a 42 built in, side-by-side, panel ready unit KSSO 42QMB02 purchased in 2007. The panel ready descriptor simply means we had it fitted with the same wood paneling we used for our cupboards. The board is failing and its causing the unit to freeze up with loud fan noises accompanied by disturbing clunks and thuds. Its a matter of minutes or hours or days before it fails entirely. This is a problem reported by others on this site. Worth mentioning is that this is a top of the line refrigerator/freezer that cost between $5,000 - $6,000 not including the paneling. So heres the terribly sad story KitchenAid is telling customers: They no longer stock the part because the sole source for it, a company in Japan was wiped out by a tsunami and to make matter worse, the meltdown of the Fukishima reactor complicated matters. They told me to have their authorized service provider (B&B - good folks) to just send the board in to be rebuilt. That my refrigerator/freezer would be down for the length of time it took for the board to be repaired. That they offer no service contracts. That if I wanted they would sell me a new unit at a small discount - $6,233 for a new unit. I should add that because this is a panel ready model with our custom panel wood on it, it would be darn tough to match the old stock so there would be at least several hundred dollars more in panel expense as the old panels no longer fit the new model. And this get this, when I called another provider in my hometown - a fellow Ive known for years, he told me that Kitchenaid/Whirlpool has just today (this was on October 5, 2014) posted a service bulletin that they were disassociating from the company, Cocentric, that has been rebuilding the Main Control Boards for hundreds of customers owing to service issues. So the bottom-line is that this expensive and beautiful side by side, built-in, panel ready refrigerator is a boat anchor? Then I found this blog from a very cool, smart and handy fellow, Steve **. In it he describes how pretty easily (if youre handy with a soldering iron and a volt meter that is) you can rebuild the Main Control Board for about $6. He suggest buying a beefier version of one component, a relay, to prevent this from happening ... suggesting a design flaw in this board to me. And he wisely suggests adding an Appliance Surge Protector to prevent spikes from burning the board in the future. This is all beautifully detailed with pictures and part numbers. So heres my take - Whirlpool/Kitchenaid want to sell you a new refrigerator freezer when they could easily set up a process to fix these boards themselves and support their products. It gets worse. If you want to buy a refurbished board you can! For $800 - $1,200 on eBay! WTF! KitchenAids service policies are fostering predatory online vendors. Why will people pay this much for a board that KitchenAid lists for about $235? Because ALL OF US CANT BE WITHOUT A REFRIGERATOR FREEZER FOR 2-3 weeks. This is insane and immoral. California has tough consumer laws. The Song Beverly Act may cover this as in addition to providing relief for people that buy lemons, it also provides for people like us (in California any way) that expect a top shelf product should last longer than a pair of my boxer briefs.

We decided to invest in a good dishwasher that we could rely on. We spent over $1300 on model #KUDE48FXBL2. It never really worked quite right. There would be periods when the keypad would not work. After roughly one year of use, it has died. The repair service quickly determined that it needed a new keypad and some sort of electrical part in the door. KitchenAid does not have the parts and does not know when they will be available. I am hand washing all of my dishes while a $1300 dishwasher sits in my kitchen with an out of order sign on it. There is no end in sight and we get no answers. We are trying to decide if we throw it out (and the $1300 we spent) or wait to see when it can be repaired (and how much it will cost). We spent a lot of money on a dishwasher that only gave us about one year of use. We will not buy an appliance from KitchenAid or any of their affiliated companies again.

I have owned a KitchenAid Gas Range/Convection Oven KGSA906PSS for several years. I attempted to use the self-clean feature for the first time ever yesterday. I wished I had searched for KitchenAid complaints on this website first. Apparently, I am one of many who has burned up the oven control panel by merely using a feature of the oven. How is this possible that there is no recall or product support from KitchenAid for such a common problem and obvious product defect? I called KitchenAid and as you can guess from their low ratings on this and other sites. They were zero help and I got the impression they could care less if any of us ever buy a KitchenAid product again. They should be happy to know that I in fact would never buy another KitchenAid product or recommend that anyone else ever does. The repair (punishment) cost is estimated at $600. This is a repair for attempting to use the oven clean feature one time. One of the features we looked for on an oven although for some reason (thankfully) we didnt use. This represents a full 45 percent of the ovens purchase price and yet KitchenAid has no assistance or comment. Good Job, KitchenAid. I hope this experience helps somebody make a wiser purchase decision.

I read a post where someone said their KitchenAid fridge had finally broken
I read a post where someone said their KitchenAid fridge had finally broken down after 15 years and that it served her well. Major appliances used to last decades, and still should last that long. Think about how much you pay for them 15 years is nothing. Our fridge has a pull down bin in the door that pops open every time we open the door. Even with nothing inside, rendering the space useless. Plus, the bottom of the freezer pools with water which then turns to ice making it impossible to close the freezer door. So far I have had to unplug it and thaw it out five times. If that sounds like nothing, remember you have to put all your groceries somewhere. Tonight instead of enjoying the beautiful summer evening, I made many trips up and down the basement stairs bringing groceries back into the fridge. My oven is also a mess. The knobs get so hot that my friend burned her arm on them. I cant imagine how this passed inspection. NOT SAFE if a toddler was around. Thats okay because she was in the middle of a remodel and was considering my oven until that happened, and I filled her in on the rest. Also, the back panel on the stove is made of resin! I thought it was stainless in the store. So needless to say it is peeling. I guess that is the reason they had the stupid idea to put the smaller burners in the back and the mega burners in front. So much fun trying to reach over a large pot of boiling water to stir a small saucepan in back. Does KitchenAid have third graders designing their appliances??? Clearly not someone who has any knowledge of a cooks needs. I will never purchase anything by KitchenAid ever again. Not even a can opener.

We purchased model #KSS048QTB02 in August of 2009. This was the second 48 KitchenAid built-in we purchased along with all other high-end KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig. Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month. My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

We purchased the Range along with a Fridge, over range Microwave, Dishwashe
We purchased the Range along with a Fridge, over range Microwave, Dishwasher and even a toaster at the same time as we were redoing our kitchen. Right off the bat the fridge, Model KBLS22KVSS1 leaked water. This was traced to a cracked evaporation pan. The repairman said we should just use a glue gun on it. We refused his suggestion since the fridge was only a week old. A new pan was ordered and installed three weeks later. Took the repairman two hours and a lot of grief to replace the pan. No wonder he hoped we would just glue it.With the range, Model YKERS807SS01 we had it go completely dead 1 hour into the first time we tried the self clean feature. Reading about other peoples failures with KitchenAids eager to help service department we will not even bother to try to get any support for an obvious known issue. Having a look at the internet we were provided with numerous incidents describing the same problem. Apparently there is a one time thermal switch attached to the rear wall of the oven that fails to open when the temperature gets too hot and kills the power to the rest of the Range including the door lock. I sourced out the part (75 dollars) at a local Appliance Parts store and installed it. Needless to say with the new part installed, an hour into the self clean cycle it blew again. I am not about to buy a third one. I guess we will never be able to use the self clean feature on this oven. The Dishwasher, Model KUDS40CVSSO had the pump motor go after a year. Cost us 400 dollars for a new one. Service man said that the design was poor and we could expect the pump to fail again. He also noted that our Range had a Keypad/Display that would probably fail as he had replaced several in the last while. More good news.To add insult to injury, the toaster, Model KMT211OB0 gave it up shortly after the dishwasher did. The rack would no longer stay down when the side handle was depressed. We just threw it out and bought a different brand instead and it works just fine. Yeah, Im upset. So is my wife as KitchenAid was her preference for our new kitchen and she wanted our appliances to match. I guess they do to some extent, they are all pieces of crap, aside from the microwave Model YKHMS1850SS-2 that still seems to be fine. Buyer beware, do your research before spending your money. Im doing plenty of that now looking for new appliances and KitchenAid would never even have been a contender had we known what we do now.

Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. We purchased a new home with KitchenAid appliances and from day 1, my wall microwave did not work and my stove malfunctioned. I called to register my products and was given a quote for an extended warranty (because apparently I am going to need it with these garbage appliances). I was told that they had to ship me some parts, which were out of stock and that I had to wait. After a month, I received the wrong part and called back. I was told the right part I needed was out of stock and had to wait again. After several weeks, I was told that they no longer made my microwave and that they would be sending me a new one. I was told that I could not get the extended warranty at this time because I would be getting a new microwave and if I bought the warranty now, I would have to pay extra to add my new microwave once it came. After several more weeks, the microwave came in and it was a countertop microwave, not a wall microwave. Obviously, it did not fit in my wall cabinet so the installers had to make modifications for it to fit. This whole process took about 3 months to resolve and I did not have a working microwave. Next, my oven malfunctioned with an error code and it would not turn off. I called customer service again, armed with my extended warranty price quote because clearly these appliances have significant issues. I was told that it is common for the error code to appear on my double wall oven model and that I had to shut my power off and on for it to reset. When I complained and said that it was unacceptable, I was told that it was an unfortunate situation involving these appliances and nothing could be done. I asked about my extended warranty, ready to shell out hundreds more on these appliances so that I could get them replaced when they break (which is clearly going to happen). I was told that the price had now gone up over 100.00 because it had been over a month since I registered my appliances. I told Jasmine, the call taker that I had a faulty microwave and had to wait months for a new one, so that is why I did not get the warranty when I first got the quote. She told me repeatedly that there was nothing that she could do and the quote was computer generated and she could not change the price. I asked for a supervisor and was told that Amber (supervisor) wanted me to know that she could not change the price either.I have decided not to purchase the extended warranty on these products. I spent over $10,000 on my gourmet kitchen and now I am stuck with these expensive appliances that will no doubt breakdown again and again. For now, I will make sure my flashlight batteries are charged up so I can make the trip to re-set my circuit breaker each time my oven acts up. Thanksgiving should be especially fun.

The controls were on the top edge of the door so hidden during use and programmed before closing the door. The dishwasher ran whisper quiet and had multiple cleaning cycles; including pot scrubber. It should also be noted that the heater in this unit heats everything to the point of sterilization. You can actually smell the clean when the dishes come out. This dishwasher had the adjustable top rack so cleaning large items in the bottom was very easing. It also had extra large capacity so it took a lot of dishes to fill it. Stainless steel, and hidden controls were very nice. The large, rounded, stainless door handle was the only protrusion from under the counter so it blended well into the cabinetry. Kitchenaid 24-inch Stainless Steel with Proscrub. It came with the standard warranty and I paid to extend it an additional 2 years. It also came with a nicely written owners manual which was clear and concise on the operations.

He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. From the day we received our fridge we had problems: the doors wouldnt stay closed. If the right door only was open, then shut, the left door would pop open. There was condensation running down the flange between the doors constantly. In the morning wed come down to the kitchen and find a door slightly open even though it was closed when we went to bed. We had about 10 service calls for the fridge with the door issue in the first year and nothing ever was solved. Hinges were replaced, the fridge was re-leveled, moisture setting adjusted and so on, over and over again. What is the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again know the results will be the same. This was what was happening because all the servicemen did the same thing over and over again without any different results. How much time can a person take out of their day to deal with such nonsense?I started asking for an exchange about half way into the process of service calls and was refused. I kept arguing we have a food safety issue here and this didnt seem to mean anything to anyone. I also tried getting to speak with a supervisor. Denied. Finally, just as the fridge was 1 year in my kitchen I managed to speak with someone who made an exchange finally happen. This refrigerator actually has doors that close, stay closed so therefore we dont have the condensation issue. The bottom line is that I had a lemon and everyone passed the buck to try and avoid exchanging the fridge. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product again. Look for my oven review next.

KitchenAid refrigerator model #Ksf26c - We purchased our refrigerator less than a year ago and already have dents and scratches on the metal trim of the humidity control drawer and meat drawer. The quality of the metal trim is substandard. I called the parts department at KitchenAid and they will not replace the defective drawers because it is cosmetic. I would definitely recommend not purchasing this refrigerator.

Thinking Id go all out and buy my last and final refrigerator, I bought the fancy and expensive, and newest KitchenAid. Within four years I have spent over $600 on repairs (nothing covered by warranty). The first week of the Pandemic it again stopped working. I have thrown away over the last four years, THREE complete freezer contents with this refrigerator. The ice maker is positioned above the mother board, and drains onto it, and the repairman who finally came from the Factory said it was a major design flaw. This FIFTH repair was to cost nearly $1600 - and he said he didnt know if that would be all that was wrong. I have called and written my dealer and the parent company. I thankfully have an old KitchenAid in the back hallway, so have an inconvenient, but cold, refrigerator. Youd think when after only 4 years of wear by two people, and repairs requiring half the cost of the refrigerator, that KitchenAid would be more responsive to a long-time customer. I am so disgusted by this experience.

I purchased the gas range (KitchenAid 30inch Aqua Clean Slide In Gas Range) November 15, 2015. After two weeks range stopped working. Repairman came out and wanted to replace a part, I said, No. Want a new range. Didn’t want to start replacing parts on a new range. Six weeks later new second new range was installed. Four weeks later same problem, range stopped working. This time a new part was installed. Finally everything was working. I decided to try myself cleaning oven...what a joke! It did not clean, my oven was not that dirty. I called repairman and he told me his mom and aunt also purchased same oven and theirs does NOT clean like a normal self cleaning oven. They have to use a spray like Easy Off to get their oven cleaned. This is the worst oven I have ever owned. Don’t buy if youre looking for a self cleaning oven, as this one is NOT!

I love KitchenAid products, but my dishwasher, I dont like at all. It is one year old and works Great! The problem is that the bottom rack tines so-to-speak are not constructed so the plates stand UP. When I put the round-rimmed plates (which most plates are made that way today on the market) in the slots of the bottom rack, they SLANT over??? Because of this, I CANNOT fill the bottom rack with many dirty dishes, etc. The top rack is NOT WIDE enough for the larger coffee cups that are made. This is a problem also for filling...I run my dishwasher a lot because it is just not made to hold a lot of dinnerware (because of this). My old dishwasher (KitchenAid) in another town was great... The tines on the bottom rack slanted at the tip and the and the dishes stood up... I could really fill it up. I guess I just bought a cheaper grade of KitchenAid? Can I get a replacement for the bottom rack with tines that are bent or slanted at the top so my dishes stand up? I would NOT like to run my dishwasher ALL of the time because I cant put a lot of dishes, etc. in it. Water bill is higher because of this... :-(

Kitchenaid Duel Fuel Range Oven Problem Model KDRP407HSS10 - While baking oven door locked and went into cleaning cycle, food in oven was smoking and could not cancel cycle. Husband had to turn breaker off and let oven cool down and then turn breaker back on so electronics would unlock door and then was able to get food out. Tried to use oven again and did the same thing. Called Kitchenaid and they would not admit or even acknowledge they were aware of the problem. I told them they had to be aware of the problem because I have seen postings of the same exact problem going all the way back to 2005. Had to ask twice to talk to supervisors at next level to try and get their explanation of what it would take to repair the range. I explained I wanted to talk to someone who had knowledge of what it was required to fix the problem. Someone at KA has to know what is wrong. I am now waiting for the third supervisor to call us back. One posting I read said that in the state of NY there was a class action lawsuit filed against KA. This is an extremely dangerous situation and could cause a serious fire. Do not understand why this problem has not been addressed. The ovens should have been recalled.

Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others
Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others changed with kitchen upgrades, never had a failure such as this. Previous dishwashers were Kenmore, Frigidaire; latter was a very basic model; in same residence 32+ yrs, kids (3) no longer part of current household. Dishwasher used 6-7 times per week in household of 2, with my wife cooking 5-6 days a week; moderate use, rarely use heavy-duty clean cycle with present dishwasher. This model has a 2-stage filter (fine, coarse), with recommended cleaning varying from once/2 months to yearly. We did not clean it since new, since we scrape dishes, do minimal pre-wash or none - our usual practice for 32 yrs in present house, 6-8 yrs in prior house. When dishwasher quit draining, checked filters, small amount of residue (1/2 tsp or less), no significant coarse grit seen. Noted no discharge from DW via exhaust tube with 3 successive cycles. I watched running empty DW. Had purchased an extended warranty for a year (3 appliances, range, fridge & DW), all purchased together, all KitchenAid, 13 mos ago with complete kitchen remodeling after 22 yrs since last remodeling.Repairman (under warranty) checked machine, found exhaust pump clogged with debris, failed; emptied some particulate matter from exhaust tube into a bucket, looked like congealed fat, a few parsley & other leafy matter. No hard grit seen. He did say that matter had been pulled past the filters (couldnt say why other than pump has a suction like a vacuum), though neither filter was even moderately clogged.KitchenAid approved a $300 plus sum for pump replacement; their consumer services could not answer my query as to how so much debris got past the filters to cause pump failure within 13 mos. This model does not have a grinder as in next higher model, but again, there was not much particulate debris I could see; pump was not yet removed, so will wait to see what it looks like.In summary, very disappointed with this early pump failure, with way less usage than in prior dishwashers that functioned well for a family of 5 for 10 yrs, and 22 yrs respectively. Believe Kenmore is made by Whirlpool, the parent company of KitchenAid, so the design, though older, is I feel similar. Modern DW detergents (we use the satchets, not powder or liquid) recommend NOT scraping too much food residue off dishes, to allow triggering of enzymatic action for cleaning dishes. We rarely see residue, occasional baked on material such as egg yolk, which we now clean off; no pots go in DW, rare baking dishes, which we scrub off in the sink. So we dont feel this DW was overworked.Writing this while searching for others with similar pump failures, trying to understand why two levels of filters failed to protect a pump that obviously is rather delicate, hence recommendation by KitchenAid Consumer Services now that every month we run an empty cleaning cycle with an Affresh tablet to clear the system. BTW, weve never seen hard-water residue inside any of our dishwashers; the prior two did not have stainless steel interiors, never required special interior cleaning with bicarbonate etc., for any build-up; we get city water, pipe-bourne, just flushed out my gas water heater after 4-5 yrs, saw a small amount of milky flow at beginning of drainage, then clear; I have a water filter at my house cold-water intake; the water (filtered) in the fridge is always clear, no problems with ice-makers over 32+ yrs, no hard-water cum anywhere.KitchenAid has no answer for us other than the Affresh cleaning cycle; we use a comparable DW detergent to the recommended Cascade, not Cascade Platinum as recommended; anybody with a similar problem, either with KitchenAid dishwashers or any Whirlpool family dishwashers (include the high-end Jenn-Air brand now)? Am feeling very disappointed with this choice right now, will expect another pump failure in 1-2 yrs, if so will look for remedy from KitchenAid, or else...!Can scan receipt of purchase from Lowes store locally if required. I have no repair order number, as requested below. Do have extended warranty # if required. We had Sears brand appliances in our old house (8 years), still have Sears (Kenmore) washer and dryer, 3 sets over 43 yrs of married life, 2nd set in this house, first set lasted 24 years, top-loaders, replaced when laundry room was remodeled, now with HE front loaders that are currently 8+ years old. Some repairs were needed, recall replacing motor of current washer when motor-bearing became noisy.

In April of 2014 we purchased an expensive KitchenAid refrigerator from Best Buy, later delivered & installed by Best Buy. The refrigerator was purchased for the ice machine and water filter. From the time we purchased the frig, the ice maker made very small ice cubes and then stopped making them all together. The frig began leaving a puddle of water on the floor, so we turned off the ice maker and I asked my husband to call KitchenAid, while the product was under warranty. He finally did and in September the first repairman came out from Quaker Appliance who said the product was installed improperly, then Best Buy, who came out and showed us the product was installed properly. We went back to KitchenAid and they sent out Ace Appliance. The Ace Appliance repairman has been out here 6 - 7 times, replacing tubes that are broken, electric boards, the actual ice maker itself and still it does not work. We contacted KitchenAid today, after Ace Appliance did not show up for an appointment, and begged them to please end this and stand behind their product. I have had to take numerous half and whole days of vacation, resulting in greater cost to our family than we ought to bear. When I pointed it out to the Supervisor after speaking with 2 customer service reps, she said that they will do nothing to replace the item until both a technician and the KitchenAid technician deem it unfixable. I asked how many times would that mean someone should have to schedule an appointment, take time off work and she said it could be once or 20 times. Her name was Shannon. We told her we were going to submit a complaint to BBB and she didnt seem to care. All the repairmen who have been out here have told us that KitchenAid will just wait for you to give up, toss a few dollars at you or keep wasting your time. They do not return their faulty products. This is what we were told from experienced technicians...

The dishwasher functioned marginally for about a year and then got worse. Theoretically, it works, so it cannot be fixed. It runs through the cycle normally, but the dishes do not come out clean. They have grease films, coffee stains, fingerprints, and spots. All of this must be removed by hand washing. Not much point in having a dishwasher. I have tried the longest cycle and additives of all sorts, but nothing helps.

I purchased a refrigerator from HH Gregg. My one year KitchenAid refrigerator broke down right before the warranty was up. They had to put in a new compressor - after one year the fridge was toast. It took me many calls to KitchenAid/Whirlpool to have them provide a reputable servicer. The first one, provided by HH Gregg (A&E Factory Service) took my fridge apart and left, never to return. The second, VIA Services came and fixed the fridge, but now after one month is it not working again. KitchenAid said it is no longer under warranty even though it is the same problem. I purchased a KitchenAid microwave for $784.00 and $102.00 for the extended warranty and both of those were my problem. The microwave went out and I have had to make over 10 different calls and waste over 5 hours on the phone with KitchenAid extended warranty company. At first they refused to cover the oven because they said it was heat related damage. I have to admit that I am not very smart but I do know that a microwave oven has to get hot in order to work! After I called the store I purchased it from and after the repair company called them on my behalf, they want me to accept only 75% of replacement value. I can never recommend anyone to buy KitchenAid or Whirlpool products because with my experience, they do not stand behind their products or care about their customers. I have spoken to 3 supervisors; all of them follow the company line. The difference in dollars to keep a satisfied customer is $236.00. That is not much for a multi-billion dollar company. I will continue to contact as many information outlets as possible including TV, radio and newspapers, as well as spending time in appliance stores to inform others of my experience. All I can say is purchase KitchenAid/Whirlpool at your own risk!

I called the company and was advised the repairman would be out the next day. I asked who they were sending. After the rep told me, I advised that the repairman they were sending didnt service our area. The rep wouldnt believe me so wouldnt look into it any further. That repairman called me the next day to advise me he didnt service our area. I called the company back and after 6 calls and my insistence that I speak to a supervisor, they advised they would send the repairman for our area but not for a week. The repairman came a week later and advised they would have to pick up the fridge and take it to the shop and that we would be without a fridge for another week. The fridge is only 10 months old and KitchenAid is arguing about the warranty on it. I am totally fed up and would not recommend them to anyone.

After reading all of the negative reviews about Whirlpools Customer Service, I felt I had to post my very positive experience. We purchased a KitchenAid Architect series refrigerator in April 2015. Unfortunately, it turned out be a defective fridge which would not be repaired. We had several visits to repair the unit since it simply would not defrost, and several different technicians, but in the end they couldnt fix the problem. I was quite apprehensive about what resolution would be offered and was ready for a big battle. To my surprise, Whirlpool (KitchenAid) Customer Service couldnt have been better. They offered me an exchange or a complete refund without hesitation. Even through my repairs, each call was handled promptly and efficiently. I have no complaints and even though this refrigerator didnt turn out to be what I had hoped for, I would not hesitate to purchase a KitchenAid appliance again in the future.

I purchased this dishwasher after reading reviews of lower priced units that were rated as cleaning as good as a KitchenAid. I have owned at least a half dozen dishwashers in the last 35 years and this is the ABSOLUTE WORST I have ever used. It is quiet, it is good looking, but it can spread dirt where none existed before. I have tried everything and to get clean dishes it must be set to MAX and HALF loaded to get your half dirty dishes clean, AND thats only if you remember not to put anything at the corners of the trays and they will come out clean and WET! The vent is so small on these units it is nearly impossible for the vapour to escape. This unit original price was $1,999 and it doesnt work 1/2 as good as a $350 Kenmore. Dont waste your money on this model KDTE704DSS0.

We purchased the KitchenAid Dishwasher with built-in water softener not last summer, but the previous one (less than 2 years ago). A few weeks ago, we were sitting in our family room when we noticed acrid smoke pouring out of the dishwasher, and an electrical popping noise (shorting). We ran and turned off the power at the breaker box. Sure enough, the control panel was smoking and completely dead. Thankfully, we were in the next room in our open concept home or this could have turned into a major fire. We paid almost $1000 for this dishwasher, hoping that the better model & water softener would mean it would last longer. Do NOT buy this dishwasher as it is UNSAFE to have in your home. We walked away from the Whirlpool brand over this, after many years of brand loyalty to Whirlpool and its family of brands.

Also for several months had to do an additional rinse as the dishwasher retained soap. This was our second dishwasher purchased in two years. Obviously, appliances are not made to last anymore. Its not enough to say - I will never use another Kitchen Aid appliance, or - Ill tell all my friends to never buy this product!!!!!! If you have purchased a Kitchen Aid dishwasher with its cheap plastic material, that when heated by the heating elements become weak and crumble apart, you need to know that this is very wrong and against the laws and rights of anyone who purchased this product. That means that it is your duty to call the Whirlpool complaints department and let them know that they have broken the law!!! And that you wont stand for it. I have called and asked to speak with the highest level (supervisor). She asked me for my full name, phone # and address. I asked her a few questions: 1) Where are the dishwasher manufactured (not assembled)? She did not know. 2) What is the plastic made of (knowing that she would not know) asked then can answer these question for me, she did not know. 3) Why are there so many Model #s for the same dishwasher? She said only the manufacturer can answer that question (and she has no idea who that is). I told her that on the Consumer Affairs website, there are 548 complaints on the same or similar issues that I am having with my 1 & half yr old dishwasher. I explained to her that when the plastic gets hot, it weakens and parts start to break off. I was told that they have not had any complaints. I gave her the website and asked her what she was going to do about it. She said she would record the information then pass it on to her supervisor (who I had already spoken with and was told that there was nothing she could to for me). I said that I would like her to email me a copy of that report. She explained that that was not possible. I asked her for her name. She replied - Kathy. I asked her for her last name and she refused. I asked for a phone number where she could be reached and she refused and said it was against company policy. I replied by saying - Kathy, did you ask me for my last name, address and phone # when I called? (yes). I finished the conversation by saying - Kathy, you get to hide behind your comfy, corporate desk protected... while the rest of us get to buy your plastic crap and have no way of getting any compensation. Thank You Kathy!!! I am now in the process of taking Whirlpool to court. I have all the proof I need to prove that Whirlpool is negligent. Im not doing this to have my dishwasher repaired for free parts included (which the company Corbeil where I purchased the dishwasher has agreed to do). I am doing this because it is the right thing to do and I wish more people would do the same...

I have a brand new Kitchen Aid Conversion Oven/Microwave combo. The way the microwave is designed, you open the door down, like an oven, toward you. Thus, my child opened the microwave, took out some warmed milk, and spilled it on the door as he was getting it out. Some of the milk seeped in between the glass of the door. Apparently, there is no way to clean it! It looks terrible!I called KitchenAid customer service and they told me this a cosmetic issue but a repairman could come and take the door apart for $129 to clean it! Clearly, this is a design flaw! Spills happen all the time with food preparation. The owner should be able to clean it themselves!!! There are no warnings about this in the instruction booklet. How is the consumer supposed to know they cant fully clean the appliance? Why isnt the glass sealed? I want the public to know about the design flaw in the appliance.

Our KitchenAid Wine Cooler is in its sixth year and stopped cooling this week. With most refrigeration this age you automatically assume it is just a premature leak of the Freon/coolant which is bad enough. However, the repairman (his trip cost $85 for the bad news) reported it was the evaporator that failed and the parts are already out of production/not available and therefore, the unit will have to be replaced. Whirlpool which owns KitchenAid confirmed the part is not available and that there was nothing they could do for us. Since we would have to replace it with another KitchenAid unit for reasons of fit and appearance, one would think they might do something monetarily for the consumer. Ironically last evening at a New Year Eves party we heard a very similar story involving a failed KitchenAid refrigerator that was only in its third warranty year. KitchenAid/Whirlpool should not be getting away with this fraud-- no consumer expects to junk a relatively new appliance because it breaks. When the class action lawsuit happens, Whirlpool will wish they had done right by their customers.

Ive attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. The shelf above the two crisper drawers seems to be missing a middle support? Because as soon as you put any items on it, it really sags in the middle. You can see the glass shelf separating from its white plastic rim and then gap between two crisper drawers getting wider at the bottom. Are we missing a piece or is there anyway to fix this? It seems such an obvious flaw. Trails response: I have checked both units on the floor and neither have a little support... so sorry... It does seem odd that it does not though. My last email to Trail: So what are our options? I must say every time I open the fridge door - what I see (that sagging shelf) is unacceptable. I thought we were upgrading our 17 year old appliances - but it appears not, and Im sure that anyone else who has bought this fridge would be experiencing the same issue. So just wondering what my options are? Does KtichenAid stand behind the supposed quality (or lack thereof) of their products or are we on our own? And what about Trail Appliances? Where do they stand on selling crap (pardon the harsh language) like this? Suggestions? Waiting on response to this last email - but would NOT recommend buying this fridge for this reason.

This product is an expensive piece of junk. I would not recommend it and beware before buying. Two years ago, I purchased a 24 KitchenAid electric wall oven (Superba) which never worked properly from the beginning. I thought I didnt read the recipe correctly! It never thoroughly baked/roasted in the center and now, the outside of the cake is baked but the inside is raw. Same with roasting meats. The same applies for both regular bake and convection.

We bought the Kitchenaid dishwasher a year ago. Just like the rest of the post it does not clean dishes. Stay away at all cost. You can take dishes out that have food particles on them after the dishwasher has ran run then under water and whats on the dish will rinse right off!!! Service tech says it cause by hard water (we had an LG dishwasher in the same spot, same water for 9+ years, no problems but its the water!!!). So Whirlpool want to charge for a service technician to come out to look at the dishwasher that under warranty!!!! So whatever you do stay away from kitchenaid/whirlpool dishwashers!!!

The produce drawers are always too cold, regardless of how I adjust the temperature, which s/t damages some of it. The ice container freezes inside and is very difficult to remove.

Purchased two KitchenAid (owned by Whirlpool) under-counter refrigerator/freezer drawer units for a remodel. Both had issues from day one. I called Whirlpool, and they scheduled their choice of tech to come look at the units. After the third tech visit the unit started leaking. After the 5th service call (they came out 7 times before it was fixed) for the leak I had to go out of town and while I was gone my buildings maintenance team entered my condo and found that the unit had been leaking again and ruined the wood flooring. I filed claim with Whirlpool. They promptly denied any wrong doing and blamed Panasonic for a faulty part. Because I did not keep the faulty part, how was I to know to keep the faulty part?? Panasonic is denying the claim saying, How can we prove it was their part that caused the damage! How about all the notes from the multiple tech visits to try and fix the POS I bought!? Also, how is it that Whirpool can push blame to Panasonic and not have to take ownership of the problem??? Its been over a year that I filed with them. Whirlpool wont answer or return any calls. Total BS. I will not buy any of their products again and I will let everyone I know about this issue!

What a piece of junk! When did KitchenAid allow their products to become inferior to the point of totally frustrating the consumer. KitchenAid used to be a quality product. Ive only had this for 3 years - in the first year the plastic clips broke on the back of the thing and I had to contact a supervisor to get them in time for the holiday. Basically the top rack is worthless - totally and completely worthless. All the plastic pieces snap off and break - clips, rollers, etc. When you try to adjust them to get the rack to go back in so you can close the door the plastic things break. I ordered extra plastic clips when I got them the first time and those have broken. By the second year the bottom rack was falling apart and would not roll back in. The wheels are broken. Furthermore, the electronics is crap. I will use a setting and come back 3 or 4 hours later and it is still running - or trying to run. Half the time the dishes dont even get clean. Im so angry. Im a single parent and spent my tax refund check getting this and it works worse than the 10 year old thing that I had before this junk. At least the 10 year old dishwasher didnt have plastic pieces breaking. Stop making this crap in China and make it in the U.S. with quality parts and quit making it cheaply so that you can blame the Chinese for your own design flaws. Quit paying your CEO a fortune and making crap. Concentrate on making something that lasts. Since KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool I assume the same will be true of Whirlpools quality.

I had very similar experience on my 8-year old side-by-side KitchenAid built-in refrigerator (KSSC48QMS01). It started out with loud motor sound once in a while, then I noticed that the control panels numbers were flashing. Power Off/On from the panel, or on the physical switch did not make the flashing go away. This lasted for about a month before it produced chirping sound every 5 seconds. Four days after the chirping sound appeared, my food started to be not cool any more (The freezer side was still okay, and the foods in the drawers were not as warm as the ones on the shelves).Anyway, I ordered the Repair+1 plan from KitchenAid (actually it was Whirlpool), and they sent ASI to come the next day. The engineer from ASI was very good. In less than an hour, he replaced the control board, and I have cold food (and lots of ice from ice maker!) that night. All in all, I only lost two days use of the refrigerator, plus the cost of the plan (~ $400). A new refrigerator would have cost me more than $8,000, plus 3-4 weeks of time when I will have to wait for them to build it. I am very happy about the service I received from ASI (281-452-2121). The engineer arrived promptly, is competent and courteous, and the work was done professionally. He took my broken control board, so he can send it for repair and use it for the next customer.
