We purchased a KitchenAid Convection Double Oven from Lowes. We had always heard that KitchenAid was a top of the line oven. Since this oven was purchased, it has not worked correctly. Either the top or the bottom oven will not heat, the igniters on the burners has gone out several times. When we tried to find a repairman, there is not one in available anywhere in our area. We have tried several local repairmen. They replace numerous parts and we have been charged $200 to $300 dollars each time. The website for KitchenAid has been absolutely no help at all. If anyone is in the market for a high-end Oven, DO NOT PURCHASE a KitchenAid. They are absolutely JUNK and cannot be repaired if you live in a Rural area.

We originally notified KitchenAids warranty department on or around 11/16/2017 about our refrigerator (KRFC704FPSoo) not cooling adequately and making a loud shrill noise. We were told that the service company (Authorized Service, Inc.) would be here on 11/17/2017. We were contacted on 11/17/2017 by the service repair company that they could not come until 11/20/2017. On 11/20/2017 the repair company showed up and told us that the compressor needed to be replaced and that it would take approximately a week for the parts to come in. On 11/28/2017 the repair company revisited and this time informed us that the problem was not the compressor and that the problem was a temperature sensor/regulator and that they would expedite ordering the replacement parts. After the repair company left, they later called and confirmed that they had ordered the parts. I again notified the KitchenAid warranty department on 12/2/2017 and expressed our concerns regarding our warranty service and they started passing us around from department to department offering no help with our problem. On 12/4/2017 I contacted the repair company and informed them that we had not received the supposedly expedited repair parts and they informed me that they were scheduled to be here on 12/5/2017. When no repair parts were received on 12/5/2017 we again contacted the repair company and this time they informed us that the repair parts were ordered late afternoon on 12/4/2017. We were told to expect the parts to arrive on 12/6/2017. We later received another call from the repair company explaining that the repair parts would not be here until 12/7/2017.During this process we also contacted Home Depot (where we purchased the refrigerator) on 12/2/2017 and spoke with someone in their appliance department and explained our problems and concerns with the Kitchenaid warranty service. The lady I spoke with told me that she would get in touch with Kitchenaid and she would see if she could find out what was going on and get back with us on 12/4/2017. She also mentioned that she would explain our situation with her associate manager. Since I did not hear from anyone from Home Depot on 12/4/2017, I again contacted the appliance department and was informed that they could not help me. In the meantime we still are without the use of our refrigerator and it is now leaking water onto our new hardwood floors which I assume is being caused by the compressor freezing up and then thawing. This started happening on 12/2/2017 and was told to KitchenAid, Home Depot and the service repair company. After all that has happened with this refrigerator and the service supplied by all parties involved, KitchenAid, Authorized Service, Inc. and Home Depot, I would advise anyone to look elsewhere for their appliance needs.

We purchased our unit almost two years ago from HHGregg. When the oven is turned on, hot air rushed out of the warning drawer. Also, there is a chemical smell that gives me a headache. I called last year and a representative came to look at the unit and explained that this is how the new models are. I have stopped using the oven as it gives me headaches and makes my kitchen very hot.

We have a (just barely) 3 year old KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer that has been very troublesome. First the ice maker was replaced; then the entire front door of the freezer had to be replaced because it had NO insulation; and now the top shelf in the freezer just exploded as I opened the door. There were only 4 small items on the exploding shelf so it was not too full. When I call the customer service number I waited over 20 minutes to speak with a real person who took down info and then transferred me to another person for whom I had to wait another 10 minutes. I explained that it was like a shot -- a boom sound and then tons of small pieces of tempered glass all over me, my kitchen, and into the adjoining office area next to the kitchen. KitchenAid response was that these things can happen -- seriously??? Waiting to receive a replacement shelf and waiting for a supervisor with customer relations skills to call me back.

I bought a very expensive Kitchen Aid Stove 5 years ago with an extended warranty for 5 years. The control panel for the oven never worked. It would not turn off. I had to turn off the power to the stove. I called Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool and they were no help and told me it would cost $150 for a local repair man to come to the house.Recently, I woke up to the control unit on fire with billowing smoke coming out of the top. Still Kitchen Aid would do nothing.I am in no position to buy a new stove right now. Clearly Kitchen Aid does not stand behind their product. And they ask you not to write in caps? Why, to hide the anger that we have towards a once superior, now inferior company that sells throw away products? It is an outrage.

The over the stove KitchenAid microwave has been in daily use for 6 months. It usually works well, but there are random times when a message code appears rendering the micro unusable. The open/close door message will flash and it doesnt matter how many times you obey the command. The microwave will not allow a time to be entered or heat. After an hour or two the microwave will work just fine... Always after the meal is finished without those baked potatoes you allowed 12 min. cook time for.

Email to Trail Appliance: I meant to email you earlier but weve been away. All appliances are in and look great. Were just wondering though if a support might be missing from the fridge. Ive attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. The shelf above the two crisper drawers seems to be missing a middle support? Because as soon as you put any items on it, it really sags in the middle. You can see the glass shelf separating from its white plastic rim and then gap between two crisper drawers getting wider at the bottom. Are we missing a piece or is there anyway to fix this? It seems such an obvious flaw. Trails response: I have checked both units on the floor and neither have a little support... so sorry... It does seem odd that it does not though. My last email to Trail: So what are our options? I must say every time I open the fridge door - what I see (that sagging shelf) is unacceptable. I thought we were upgrading our 17 year old appliances - but it appears not, and Im sure that anyone else who has bought this fridge would be experiencing the same issue. So just wondering what my options are? Does KtichenAid stand behind the supposed quality (or lack thereof) of their products or are we on our own? And what about Trail Appliances? Where do they stand on selling crap (pardon the harsh language) like this? Suggestions? Waiting on response to this last email - but would NOT recommend buying this fridge for this reason.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerator MOD # KSF26C6XYY04 Low quality - I bought this refrigerator from Sears as a slightly physically damaged product. That didnt bother me. What bothers me is that the cheap plastic draws inside the refrigerator side have all cracked and broken. When I called customer service in a right to work for less state they said that they would replace them, but that if it happened again it was a one time thing. Why I asked? They said the fronts of the drawers are cosmetic? Are you kidding me? You cannot open the drawer without the front on it. Can you open a cabinet without a handle, a front door without a door knob? I am incredibly disappointed with this company. We had a Kitchen Aid refrigerator we bought in 2000 and it was great. This is a $2000 sub par product. Stay away from companies like Kitchen Aid that build low quality products and then dont back up their own warranties. I will not buy from this manufacturer again.

I purchased the French door with bottom freezer style fridge from KitchenAid and couldnt be happier. It was bought at a Scratch and Dent store, which made me a bit uneasy for any possible damages that may show up later, but so far everything has been great. Fairly quiet in our open layout kitchen / living room floor plan.I love that it has a water spout on the inside, leaving the exterior clean without the typical water/ice dispenser eyesore. Also leaves less room for broken parts to be fixed. 8 months of ownership so far and the only thing we had to change was the water pressure on the spout. Very easy.

We built a new home and purchased all new appliances, including a very expensive KitchenAid dishwasher. The electronics burn out (and nearly cause a fire) after seven months. Kitchen Aid does not support its own product but relies on unreliable subcontractors. After already waiting for repairs for two weeks, now we are told the parts are not available. Frankly, I do not want a defective dishwasher to be defectively repaired. So far, KitchenAid will not honor our requests for a new dishwasher. This is poor product support and customer service. These are expensive dishwashers that you should avoid.

KitchenAid makes a beautiful refrigerator - and that’s it. It is dysfunctional. The water dispenser is not user friendly & EVERY time a guest uses it, ice and water spill everywhere. The ‘water’ sign on the dispenser is wearing off after 4 months of use (2 adults in house only). The adjustable shelves are not. I’ve tried moving the shelves only to gouge the sides of the fridge - so they stay at unusable height. Plastic - so much plastic! I wish I had bought something else...

I purchased a KitchenAid side by side with french doors and an in-door ice maker. It retailed for around $3,000 and is by far the worst appliance I have ever owned. Periodically it runs very noisily. If the refrigerator door is left open for more that a brief moment, the ice in the bin begins to melt and fuses together and must be dumped. I have replaced the ice maker four times in the six years I have owned this refrigerator. Ridiculous for any unit but especially one in this price bracket. I attempted to contact customer service to discuss the fourth replacement of the ice maker but simply received a form letter indicating that they have no obligation once the warranty runs out. With all the other manufacturers available, select from one of those!

We were warming some food in our KitchenAid upper oven when it spontaneously started the self clean cycle. It locked, and we were unable to open it. We called 911 and the fire department was sent. We turned off the circuits to the oven. The oven proceeded to incinerate the meat and started a fire, with smoke coming out of the oven. The firemen arrived and broke open the oven lock, and took out the incinerated meat. When we turned the circuit back on, the lower oven signaled that it was too hot to use. When we called Kitchen Aid, they were unhelpful, repeatedly placed us on hold, sarcastically told us that they were glad that the house was not burned down and offered to pay for an inspection of the oven, but insisted that we would be responsible for all parts and repairs. The Customer Service Supervisor, Evelyn from the Michigan office, was singularly unhelpful and offered a series of 4 possible 4 hour window appointments over 2 weeks.

This is the third time in 4 years that we have to get a serviceman in to repair our KA wall oven (KEBS107SSS03). This product has a definite weak point. You cannot use the self-clean function because if you do, your oven quits working. Something burns out. I suspect that it may be a temp high limit switch - unable to get straight answers from Whirlpool who sell KA appliances. Our local dealer was unable or couldnt be bothered to help. Whirlpool said that this was the first time they heard of this problem!! What a bunch of malarkey. I spent $8,000.00 on a wall oven, fridge, gas countertop stove, dishwasher and microwave. This is the service we get. We have been without an oven since April 6, 2013. 9 weeks!!!

I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

The light in the oven of our 8 year old kitchenaid superba stove doesnt light up anymore. Apparently we have to change the whole board? Total loss of function for the oven and the visible control area (lights, timer, programs) resulted. The cost of a new board in Canada is close to $500 + installation so it is not worth repairing. Kitchenaid offers no assistance in this matter. The stove cost us $2500. We thought we were buying the best but were we ever wrong.Fridge door bottom hinge is sinking in the door, the door is basically just foam there is. No support to hold the weight, very bad design. We spent a bunch of money on KitchenAid appliances (refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and double range) when we remodeled our kitchen and, if I could, I would like to go back in time a slap myself in the face for making this decision. KitchenAid appliances are GARBAGE. One side of our fridges french door pops opens then the other side closes. This is a nightmare when you have kids because it basically ensures that your fridge is open ALL OF THE TIME.The dishwasher doesnt work very well. We previously had a Bosche brand dishwasher and I SO wish we stayed brand loyal because that brand was terrific. The KitchenAid dishwasher doesnt completely clean our dishes, it does more of an 80% cleaning making us have to rewash some items after they been through the KitchenAid process. The nobs on the stovetop have broken twice now...I think you get the idea. We bought KA because we thought we were buying a premium brand and nothing could have been further from the truth. We will NEVER buy anything from this brand again and if my ship ever comes in I will happily throw this crap away and buy new appliances immediately.

Owned this dishwasher (KDTO104SS) for 8 months. It replaced a Bosch. Gradual decline in performance for last month. Did the hard restart, worked for one cycle. Requested warranty service, waited one week for repairman, he ordered new part, waited another week for him to return. He then said another part had to be ordered, refused to overnight as he is only paid once for warranty service and only came once a week to this city. Then he indicated that the control unit was shorted as insects had gotten inside. We have professional pest control and have never seen those insects. They were, in fact, inside the controller. This must be a design flaw, as there isnt a place in the country where some insects do not reside. We have previously dishwasher for more than a decade with no problem. The manufacturer indicated there is no recourse. We bought this as it was made in this country and had good performance. The seller is working with us to get another appliance, but we will NEVER buy a KitchenAid again.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator and Microwave Oven Combo which are 8 years old. The refrigerator went out on 11/26. My warranty was out so they sold me a 1-year extended for $429.00. A&E came out on December 3 to fix the refrigerator. The repair guy said it was the circuit board and would order it. He said it would take 1 week to get the part. The part never showed up and A&E called to find out if I received the part. The repair guy told me to move the fan to keep the refrigerator cool. He told me the part is back ordered until January 19. Now I am out of a refrigerator and freezer. I lost over $400 in food. I called KitchenAid back to get a tracking number for the part. They told me the part is due in on December 19th so I booked another appointment. After 15 calls to A&E and KitchenAid, I found out the part is now discontinued! And the reason is that KitchenAid stopped making it. But the system had a glitch and no one knew it was not coming in. Four weeks and still there is no working refrigerator. A&E came out to pull the circuit board to have it rebuilt. Another week before its fixed or is it? I called to get some sort of compensation and answers but again no one knows what is going on. I got mixed answers to my questions. I will never buy another KitchenAid appliance! Then the spring on my microwave/oven went out. They sold me another warranty for $350.

Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

Super disappointing to replace my 20 yr old Kitchenaid Whisper Quiet dishwasher with a new model and have it be dead in 4 months. The motor started buzzing and the service guy says its shot. No idea how long to get a replacement part. Kitchenaids customer service was worthless. Next time I will pay for the Miele.

We bought this Convection Oven/Microwave at the same time as our oven, KEBS107SS, and cooktop, KFGS 206VSS. After buying it at Sears and coming home and reading the reviews here, I was ready to cancel the purchase. Decided instead to purchase the 5 year extended warranty. Buying warranties is something we dont do. However, we were spending so much on these 3 appliances and after reading the complaints on the oven and microwave, we did purchase the 5 year warranty on the oven and the microwave. Less than 18 months later, the microwave went out. The service guy has been out twice with a 3rd trip scheduled. I have been without my microwave for 13 days and it will be another 10 waiting for the parts. The worst part was being without it while needing to cook for 25 during Christmas, which is not something Id expect to do with a microwave weve had less than 18 months. Next time we buy appliances, I will read reviews before we purchase and I will not purchase from KitchenAid. KitchenAid doesnt care about their consumers who buy their products. (That is a story Ill need to write on our cooktop that we didnt purchase the warranty on.) There are other appliances out there with better reviews. The KitchenAid appliances look nice, but the quality is not there. Our last microwave that was over the oven was not even broken when we replaced it and it was 15 years old without ever having a service call. It was GE and was the microwave that came with the house. It wasnt even an upgraded appliance! I dont write reviews, but I learned so much from reading these, and now that we are having problems with a relatively new appliance, I decided to write this for others.

I had both fridge and stove replaced as we threatened to take them to court. Well, we should have asked for our money back. Our 9 year old KBRS22KMSS $3500 fridge died and though KAid will replace compressor, it will cost $500 in labor and will not guarantee it will fix issue. To top it all off, the service man snickered as he looked at our $5700 pro series oven as he was leaving and commented on how many issues they had and the parts are not available so off to the scrap yard. I will never buy KA, WHIRLPOOL, AMANA, MAYTAG OR JENNAIR products ever again.

We purchased a top of the line dishwasher. The plastic part on the top rack broke and went into the pump causing over $200 in repair. There are hundreds of complaints about this problem but in talking to a KitchenAid rep, there is no recall. A dishwasher this expensive should not have cheap parts!!!! We bought all KitchenAid appliances for our new home just under 10 years ago. The dishwasher lasted just 2 years before it needed replacing! Now the refrigerator leaks water everywhere! We found a sheet of ice under the freezer drawers…no drain plug or anything! It appears the ice was melting all over the kitchen floor! It will cost more to have someone come out to fix it than it would to just buy another appliance!! We’re buying a new LG refrigerator that Consumer Reports gives rave reviews! Staying away from KitchenAid forever!

My husband and I purchased all KitchenAid products for use in a new home we
My husband and I purchased all KitchenAid products for use in a new home we were building in late December 1997. In the first cleaning of the double-wall oven, it locked up; and we had to have the service man from Sears come out and fix it. Since that time, I have had some trouble with the touch pad working and then not working. About 2 weeks ago, I called Sears; and they sent a repair man out to fix this problem. He informed me that the part for my Superba KitchenAid double-wall oven had been discontinued and that I had probably paid $2,700.00 for this oven. Much to my amazement, because we purchased so many kitchen appliances, I had no idea we had paid this price. Nonetheless, he informed me he had other customers whom he had tried to get parts for and gave me very little hope of ever finding the part to repair this oven. So I called KitchenAid and was told it had been discontinued and hopes of finding part number 4451292 was going to be very unlikely. I proceeded to get onto the internet on Ask.com and found a repair site. I did some research and found it has been discontinued and that they dont have any idea of anywhere to get this control pad fixed or purchased. I feel that, after reading all the other complaints on these same malfunctions, there should be some kind of enforcement that KitchenAid or Sears should have warned the public at the time of purchase as to the approximate time you have to get parts for such expensive items. My oven is almost new inside and out. I and my husband (who is now deceased) worked out on the road for many years, and use of this oven was very limited due to us always being gone out on the road. The bottom oven has been used maybe 3 times, and the top oven has not been used hardly at all, compared to my KitchenAid microwave, which we both used all the time.when we were home. My guess would be that it would about compare a thousand or more to one. The touch pad on my microwave is still doing super. After viewing all the complaints on this model number KEBS277DWH1, part number 4451292, and the issues all of us are having with these ovens, I would hope that someone would stand up for us in a class action lawsuit. These products are very expensive, and nobody is helping the consumers on this product problem. Please someone stick up for all of us who need someone who can make this company responsible for such inadequate products. As of today, I have no ovens to cook Easter dinner in, because nobody has a part to repair this. And I am a widow and havent the money ($3,500.00) to buy another one. This is what repair.com wants for another one. Im very dissatisfied and angry with the outcome of all the work and research done and to get nowhere. Help!

Model KEMS378sSSS04. I want buyers to beware of a problem. Actually, I love this oven except for one problem - A quarter size RUST spot appeared after a year of use in the oven lining. This is not covered by the warranty. They did send me some paint to cover the spot up. Now four years later, the original spot has reappeared and I have 3 more RUST spots. Again, kitchen aid will not help. I have never had an oven where the interior lining rusted out. Other than this problem, I like the unit.

We purchased a KUDE40FXWH dishwasher in March of 2011. The top rack glides kept popping open letting the rack fall off. This probably was linked to binding due to breakage of the plastic pins that connect the glide wheels on the glide bracket. Three months out of warranty, the wheels on one side fall into the bottom of the dishwasher. Both sides have now been replaced for $250. The service technician said this is not isolated and they encounter this on these models. We called Whirlpool/KitchenAid and they politely noted the problems. But once they had the information, they made it very clear that they are unwilling to supply anything at their cost to correct our problem with their equipment. They are glad to have the info for engineering future equipment but are calculatingly unmoved about the predicaments of people who have bought their products to date. We paid for a higher end dishwasher to get reliability and service. KitchenAid is not worth the premium. I could just as well have bought a bargain brand and the repairs wouldnt have been any more than the glitzy one.

We purchased a KUDE40 dishwasher in January of 2011 complete with stainless steel interior. The top rack glides keep popping open, letting the rack fall off. To make matters worse, the plastic wheels fell off the top adjustable rack due to the breaking of the plastic pieces that hold the wheels in place. Of course, this happened right after the year warranty was up. Luckily, I saved the service call and ordered the part online for $25 each and replaced the parts myself. Based on what I have read on other places on the internet, this is a problem for everyone and KitchenAid will do nothing about it. I will not buy another KitchenAid dishwasher and plan to tell as many people as I can not to buy one either.KitchenAid needs to listen to the public and fix this issue free of charge. If it happens to you, order the part online and carefully disassemble about 4 parts to replace the plastic piece with the wheels. A small screw driver to pop off the plastic parts was all that was needed and we used the other side as a guide to what goes where were putting it back together. Total time: about 15 minutes to replace one side. The part is the same for the right and left sides. Save yourself the service call!

The only way to restart the oven is to pull the unit away from the wall, unplug it then plug it back in. Unfortunately this is not a viable solution for our 91 year old mother. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with KitchenAids failure to stand by their product. I purchased a $3000 stainless steel fridge last year and my fridge is still under warranty, but because the rust is cosmetic, KitchenAid feels no obligation to stand by their expensive stainless steel product and Ive been told that it is rust resistant, but not rust proof. They say all stainless steel can rust in certain environments. I have only used soap and water and never used a stainless steel cleaner or corrosive or abrasive product on the fridge and it is in my newly built and dry house. It is under a year old and I wonder what itll look like in another year. Kitchenaid offered me the opportunity to extend my warranty for hundreds of dollars, but offered no repair or replacement of the rusting door panel I called them about. What kind of stainless steel exists? Low-quality stainless steel with impurities. My stainless steel Bosch range hasnt started rusting and I clean it constantly with various cleaners. Clearly KitchenAids product is inferior and low quality.

After reading the above comments, I should have thought twice about buying a KitchenAid. My ice dispenser stopped working. I had purchased the extended warranty and the repairman replaced the motor but discovered it wasnt getting any power. The user interface had malfunctioned, and guess what? The factory in Japan that made them isnt doing so anymore. Sounds familiar? My money for the warranty was refunded and I was told I was basically out of luck. After many phone calls between KitchenAid and the warranty company, I contacted the CA Better Business Bureau. There is a Civil Code 1793.03 that requires manufacturers to provide replacement parts up to 7 years after purchase. I filed a complaint with them, but was told I should contact an attorney to see if it would be worth taking them to court. The problem occurred less than 3 years after I purchased the refrigerator from Sears in 2010. I thought I was buying it new, but according to the warranty company, it was made in 2008. In short, avoid buying appliances from Sears and stay away from KitchenAid!

We have a Kitchenaid KUDI01FLSS2 dishwasher. It came with the house we purchased six years ago - the unit was about 1 year old at the time. We have had constant problems: touch panel failed ($200), control board failed ($250), heater element failed which required a heater control board upgrade (design defect) ($250), chopper failed three times ($30 ea), door hinges failed, numerous plastic interior parts failed (all are overpriced), the door latch has a fundamental design problem (we have to use a clamp to keep the door from popping open in cycle). I am an engineer and was able to do all the repairs myself which saved hundreds of additional dollars. The dishwasher is a $1000 piece of junk. I would have scrapped in early on if I had only known!

After purchasing a high end dishwasher from KitchenAid, I am so disappointed in this machine. It has leaked water so long and ruined my kitchen floor to the extent it had to be replaced. We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

In 2012 I purchased my new home and upgraded to ALL KitchenAid appliances. It was costly and I wish I would have done better research on appliance manufacturers. Just before the warranty was up on the first year, my refrigerator was leaking water. KitchenAid came out and fixed the water dispenser tubing. The repairman suggested that I buy another warranty and to keep buying them. He added that KitchenAid appliances are constantly breaking and the refrigerator was the worst appliance for reliability. I purchased a new 1 year warranty and that was up 1 month ago. I did not renew the warranty this year due to recent unemployment. Now the thermostat is out and it is going to cost me $300.00. I am going to purchase the warranty on all of the other appliances and ride this out. BBB and Consumer Reports recommend Thermador. I will be certain to never buy KitchenAid again and will go with what is recommended by the experts. Thanks KitchenAid!

We purchased this oven (KitchenAid Superba convection oven) some year ago.
We purchased this oven (KitchenAid Superba convection oven) some year ago. Approximately two years later, we began to experience problems controlling the temperature. We had the oven serviced by an authorized repair company. The problem ultimately revealed itself to be the control panel. The oven was repaired. Sometime later, the same issue appeared. The oven was serviced and repaired. Months later, same issue. After a lengthy fight with KitchenAid, we replaced the oven paying a pro-rated price. Some months later; the same issue, more repairs. Same problem: the control board. Despite having an extended warranty in place, KitchenAid did not honor the warranty. The problems lie with the control panel which obviously suffers from a design flaw. Whatever reputation they may have enjoyed, we would never buy anything made by them under this or any other label, nor would we recommend their products. However, we receive regular correspondence regarding purchasing an extended warranty on the very product whose warranty they won’t honor.

Horrible Stove - I am on my second cooktop and the stove is not quite 5 years old, already had to replace the touch pad also. Two years ago the smallest chip at the edge of the cooktop cause a huge crack line to encircle the back burner and it fell in, WELL it happened again. A small chip on the edge of the top again cause this huge crack line that encircled the back burner and it fell in. Crummy stove, DONT BUY Kitchenaid - run and buy anything else. KitchenAid was once respected name now it deserves total disrespect. Expensive but no quality here and the heat from the stove turns the oven handle yellow and streaks appear inside the glass window which cannot be cleaned. All in all a horrible product. Now I have to pay for another cooktop on a stove that was VERY EXPENSIVE TO BEGIN WITH.

KitchenAid KDTM404KPS Bought this dishwasher for new Kitchen Reno. Very disappointed with it so far. While it appears to clean well, it is very noisy on the wash cycle, definitely not the 44 db they claim. The grids on the racks are far apart and if smaller items are placed they can fall right through. No grips on the racks that would normally hold these items in place. My biggest disappointment is the third rack. I would have preferred a full cutlery rack. This one does really not hold too much cutlery or cooking utensils. Also plastic items on the racks are not kept secure and I think fly around during the wash. I now wash these smaller items by hand! Have been trying to contact someone at Kitchenaid through CHAT on their website, and after a few minutes, before any one responds to me, I am disconnected. Would like to ask Kitchenaid if they have any grips I can install in the dishwasher to secure smaller, lighter items. I hope they get to read this review. I would have bought a BOSCH instead, like the previous one I had. Just loved the third rack on it and with a higher db of 50, it was a lot more quieter. It too held a 16 place setting, and more as the area where the cutlery basket sits could hold large serving dishes. I bought my items in a rush during Covid-19, and was anxious to get out of the dealership as soon as possible.

We installed our KitchenAid Refrigerator model #KFXS25RYBLO in February 2015. Within 6 months the ice maker stopped making ice. The repairman told us it needed to be replaced and that he has had to replace EVERY KitchenAid ice maker from that model. Next 1 year later the hose froze up and had to be replaced. The repairman explained that it was a new and improved hose that once again KitchenAid replaced. Then 1 year later the bottom freezer froze up. Once again another repair. Then today March 2018 the ice machine is AGAIN not making ice and after troubleshooting the repairman now says we need a new ice maker. This is the WORST refrigerator that we have had in our 41 year marriage!

My top of the line, three year old, stainless steel KitchenAid refrigerator
My top of the line, three year old, stainless steel KitchenAid refrigerator stopped cooling. Main circuit board is defective. Exactly like Ians review, I was told directly by a supervisor that no replacement boards have been made since the tsunami. In over two years, KitchenAid has not obtained a US based company to make these replacement boards. They have to be mailed to a company that rebuilds the boards and it takes at least two weeks before the repaired board is returned. This is the worst and most shameful business practice I have ever heard of from a world wide company. I have the KitchenAid Extended Warranty, but a loaner is NOT part of your KitchenAid warranty. And you are supposed to be perfectly happy going without a refrigerator for over two weeks. I purchased the KitchenAid built in wall oven, convection oven/microwave combo at the same time, along with a top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher. After spending more than $8000 on this suite, I cant wait for the non-existent circuit boards to go out on these other appliances. My husband wanted to buy the Samsung refrigerator, but I insisted on buying American made since the US was in the middle of the Great Recession. I will be spending my money on Korean appliances from now on, now that I have learned that KitchenAid has knowingly left all of their appliance customers without a source for new, replacement circuit boards. Heres a suggestion KitchenAid... Jabil Circuit, a gigantic, world wide circuit board company is based right here in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I live. If you cared one bit about your customers or your reputation, you would have them or one of the dozens of other companies in the US that manufacture the same things, supply you with new replacement boards. Yours is a shameful business model. I am done with KitchenAid.

It is unfixable. Being under warranty, I called the company. It is not covered because it is a cosmetic problem. We figured out the dishwasher is leaking and causing the problem. Still not covered. We bought a KA fridge KSF26C7XYY04 with an extended warranty service plan. Thank goodness! We have had 3 service calls in a 6 month period. The fridge is only 2 years old. The evaporator and ice dispenser motor had to be replaced. I just called again because once again the freezer is not working. I have thrown out food 3 times now. I have a 5-hour service repair window every time the company that services the warranty comes out. Last time the part took so long to come in that I waited for almost 4 weeks to get my fridge fixed. This purchase has been a total nightmare! If we did not have the warranty, KA would not even talk to me. There is zero customer service. I was actually told today that with the internet I should have done my homework by their own customer service! That says it all. Sad state of affairs. I will never buy a KA appliance ever again. Once the warranty runs out and I cant get them to continue to fix this fridge, I will take the loss and buy a new non-KA fridge. This company completely sucks. All 3 drawers on the fridge side are broken. Same issue where the face of the drawer has come off. I had one drawer replaced which broke again. KA wont stand behind their poorly made product. They want me to buy them for $125/drawer. I refuse to spend any more money on this piece of poorly made appliance. I duct tape them! SO sad.

I had an old KitchenAid microwave that Sears could not fix, so they offered a $575 credit replacement for it. I went to Sears and the one they stated was the same one was on sale for total of $484.49, so I ordered it and a week later it was installed. With just the two of us, we barely used it. Three weeks later while doing a baked potato in it on sense position, it caught on fire melting the plastic inside. They came out and stated it wasnt repairable so now they would only give a replacement value of the $484.49, so I had to add money to it just to get another microwave. Only this time I bought a GE. It should be here on Saturday and I hope it lasts longer then the KitchenAid did. Do not buy KitchenAid KHMS 2040, it will catch on fire.

My mother-in-law, like many people of her generation, swore by the quality
My mother-in-law, like many people of her generation, swore by the quality of KitchenAid dishwashers. We have always bought them until now. Reading the complaints on the internet it is apparent that these dishwashers were once of high quality, but that this is no longer so. We bought one a little over a year ago to replace a 20 year old trouble free model (without doing any research). As predicted by the complaints on the internet, the top shelf failed within a year. We have had several service calls for other reasons and today we decided to simply pull out the KitchenAid, throw it away, and install a Miele (without great hopes). So, why has KitchenAid become so bad. The first thing to note is that Whirlpool now owns Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and many other brands due to a purchase in 2008. They are all one company and, in a published peer-reviewed study (you can find it at the National Bureau of Economic Research website), it has been established that prices for dishwashers made by this mega-company increased and the number of models declined. In other words, Whirlpool has virtually no domestic competitors. Your only choice is foreign or domestic. Get used to it. The practical effect is that prices for dishwashers of the same quality have actually increased more than the above study indicates. It is a sad comment on an old American brand.

I purchased KSSO42QTX refrigerator in December of 2011. It cost over $5,000.00. Within 3 months, the unit had frost and ice accumulating in the freezer and poor cooling (high temperature) in refrigerator leading to spoiled, wasted food and on several occasions, illness due to spoilage. I contacted KitchenAid on several occasions over a two-month period and was directed to defrost unit and start over. When the problem persisted, they finally agreed to send a technician. The independently contracted technician found defective fans, motors and gaskets. I requested that the unit be replaced being that it was a lemon, having proven defective after only 3 months of usage. The technician and KitchenAid customer service said they will repair, but not replace the refrigerator. I was told to defrost and shut off the refrigerator. I waited for approximately two weeks for the independent repair company to receive the new parts and make a return appointment. When they arrived, they realized that they had been sent the correct fan parts, but not the correct gaskets. The technician refused to repair the fan as he only gets paid at the completion of the job and refused to repair the fan, which would have created an appropriate cooling environment for food storage. We are currently waiting, again, for over 1 week for the new part to be delivered. I have now been without the use of a refrigerator for approximately 3 weeks in sweltering summer heat. My wife has had to take 2 days off from work to accommodate the technicians schedule and will be required to take another day leave from work to accommodate for another appointment.Throughout this process, KitchenAid customer service has been terrible. They were unconcerned that our refrigerator has been spoiling food. They were unconcerned that the unit proved to be defective after 3 months of usage. They were unconcerned that we have no refrigerator in the middle of a summer with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees. They were unconcerned that we had several instances of illness due to spoiled food. They have been unwilling to replace the lemon refrigerator, which broke within 3 months of purchase. They have been unwilling to expedite any service or delivery of parts in order to alleviate this egregious situation. They refused to use expedited mail service. They refused to appoint another independent technician when the one originally assigned refused to provide timely service. We are still waiting for the repair to be completed. I have been offered no compensation for the trouble that I have had due to the lemon refrigerator.

Purchased the KitchenAid KUDS35FXBL3FXBL3 dishwasher for approx $1000. In less than 2 years time, I have had the upper rack rollers break numerous times, and have replaced 4 sets at this point. On one occasion, the small plastic roller part that tends to break ended up falling into the drain system of the dishwasher and jammed the mechanism, causing it to immediately shut down. To date, all but one set of rack roller parts have been replaced under warranty, and the problem with the jammed motor/pump was also fixed under warranty. HOWEVER - the repeated breaking of the rack rollers in an ongoing and unacceptable problem. Despite the evidence, KitchenAid customer service claims there is no known issue with these parts. We called, were told to turn off / check circuit breaker. We did. That didnt fix it. Now, will not honor warranty (2 months past) and are sending a repairman to fix. My brand new Kitchen Aid KBLS22KWMS arrived yesterday. Its a bottom freezer, single top door model. The bottom deli drawer kept sticking every time I opened it, so I took the drawers out, to try to find the problem. Thats when I saw that the molded plastic, on which rests the shelf supports on the deli and crisper doors, was very thin, and could be pushed in with just normal pressure from my finger. One of the supports was dented in already. Crisper drawers and the deli drawer are held by plastic frames, with no metal at all. Only the top shelves have full metal support. All the plastic is really shoddy workmanship. I have no faith that this fridge will last even a year, much less 5. Its going back to Lowes tomorrow. I had thought that Kitchen Aid was supposed to be a higher end appliance from Whirlpool. Now I will not buy another Whirlpool owned product.

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.

KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDS30FXSS. As a consumer I am loath to leave a bad reviews, but I have to say I am very disappointed in my dishwasher and in KitchenAid as a company. Within the first year a plastic valve sprang a leak and flooded my floor. A year and a half later the upper rack is broken, and the motor has failed. The failure of the valve and the rack I ascribe to bad design and/or use of substandard materials, but the motor problem is more complicated. The factory service technician wanted to assign blame to me, by suggesting that something hard left on the dishes of a piece of broken glass ruined the motor. I have been careful with this machine, and always rinsed dishes before putting them in. Before this I had an Asko Cylinda which got me in the habit of pre-rinsing. Over the 12 years I owned that dishwasher I had to call for service two or three times when small particles would get past the filters and obstruct the flow of water to the spray arms. The remedy was simply to remove the obstruction, however. It never required a new motor. The KitchenAid is supposed to have a soft waste disposal built in. One would think that would provide more protection, but, in fact, it not only failed to prevent a particle from getting in the system but there was nothing to keep it from destroying the motor once it got in. That suggests bad design to me. Secondarily, I have an issue with KitchenAid itself. At every turn the company pretends that customer satisfaction is primary. Their people are always polite, but they are just the velvet glove that hides the iron fist. But the bottom line, in my experience with the company, is that its strict and narrow policies mostly let them off the hook and out of responsibility when something goes wrong. Their service personnel express sympathy but tell you they are bound by policy. Of course, they are KitchenAids people, and KitchenAid makes the rules that make it difficult for the technicians to do right by the consumer. A company that values repeat business (I bought a KA refrigerator from the same designer series first) should barricade itself behind its rules only in the most flagrant cases of consumer negligence or abuse. I paid over $900 dollars for what I thought was a best-quality, USA-made product that would last and had an excellent company name behind it. I used it regularly and took good care of it. A year and a half later, the company will only fix half of whats now wrong with it, and informs me I am responsible for replacing the motor at a cost of $450. For that much money I could buy a Maytag (also made by Whirlpool) or I could triple that amount and get another Asko or a Bosch. Certainly, I will never trust KitchenAid again.

My KitchenAid KBRS36FMX02 refrigerator frequently was losing temperature and started making a high pitch humming noise. I called an approved KitchenAid service company to come take a look and it was determined it was the control panel. I was told by the technician that he would try a panel on his truck that supposedly would only work in my refrigerator 50% of the time. He uninstalled mine and replaced it with another that did not work. My old one was reinstalled and now is totally nonfunctional. I found this hard to believe that KitchenAid would have parts that would work only 50% of the time. I then learned that with the tsunami of 2011 the factory that made the control board in my fridge was wiped out, so no more control boards. So 5 years later, there still is no replacement? Shame on you KitchenAid.I was told that since my refrigerator is out of warranty that they have no solution but for me to buy a new refrigerator. The replacement cost of my built-in unit is approximately $7500.00. KitchenAid would offer not even a discount. So since they could not provide a $250.00 part for their product I have to buy a new fridge?? Very very poor! I would never buy a KitchenAid product ever again!!!

Our compressor is broken on our refrigerator. The tech who came to repair it said the problem is that its a faulty compressor. This happens frequently, he said, and the company that made the faulty compressors that used to go into KitchenAid refrigerators went out of business a few years ago. One would think that if KitchenAid was using a part that it knew to be faulty it could at least give a discount on parts and/or labor when the part fails. Im a commercial dishwasher repairman. My 10-month old dishwasher failed, dead, no lights, nothing. I checked the power and performed troubleshooting steps, determined the problem was a bad control board. I called the folks who sold it to me. They did not have a control board in stock. I asked that they bring a board with them so they could fix it with one visit. They said no, they could not be sure the board was the problem. I was going to have to wait 5 days (including Saturday & Sunday) for them to show up between 1 and 4, and then have to go through another wait until they were able to get the part. I am not very fond of washing dishes by hand, so I called around and found a parts place that could have the part by the next day (Saturday). The part came in and I installed the part, which fixed the problem. I called the dealer and canceled the service call and asked if it was possible to get any credit on the part. They said no, but I could call KitchenAid. I called KitchenAid this morning. No luck, it did not matter that Id saved them two service calls. It did not matter that I had taken the risk for the cost of the part if my diagnosis had been incorrect (with electronic parts, once the box is open, you own it). After speaking with Shari and David (a supervisor), KitchenAids policy is inflexible. If a customer touches it, they dont warranty it. In addition, they refused to send someone out to inspect my work or to confirm the board was bad. Im very disappointed! Heck, if they had offered to split the cost of the part or even to give me credit towards my next KitchenAid Appliance, Id have been thrilled. Instead, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth.
