Product Reviews:

We have had KitchenAid appliances for years and when we built our new home
We have had KitchenAid appliances for years and when we built our new home 2 years ago we selected high end KitchenAid for our kitchen. We have had a problem with the water and ice dispenser from the beginning. KitchenAid sent a tech out to replace a part and one year later the same problem is back. I called KitchenAid and they scheduled an appointment with the same company that didn’t fix it the first time. I emptied the entire refrigerator as asked so they could work on it and then get a call from Guinco Service that there will be a $130 charge for the tech to come out plus the cost of parts and labor. The customer service person at KitchenAid lead me to believe they would take care of it since it is an ongoing problem. When I called them back they said, Oh no. It is out of warranty. Well why did they schedule the appointment and want to send the same people that didn’t fix it the first time. I cancelled the appointment and cleaned my refrigerator shelves since it was already empty. KitchenAid just lost a lifetime customer.

The very first time I utilized the self-cleaning feature of my oven, the screen went completely black (never to come back) and the door would not unlock. First thing I did was google the problem and it looks like Im not the only one that has encountered this, and that is an understatement. There were literally hundreds of accounts of the same thing happening. I contacted Kitchenaid and they told me that there has not been a recall on my range (model KGSA906PSS00) and that there was no known problem...really?? The best part was that the replacement part is almost $400 and they would gladly transfer me to the parts department to purchase it. Thank you for the help.

I bought one of the top of the line gas stoves. The paint on the grates began peeling within the first month of use. The stove was in a spec house so the warranty had expired by the time we began using it. We called a technician out to check the gas lights and ordered two more grates $200 each plus shipping. Within two weeks of use the same thing happened. I tried to talk to the customer no service. They told me there was no warranty and no managers or supervisors to speak with. I cant believe. I thought I was buying a top end product and this how I am being treated?

We purchased a 5000.00 dollar fridge from Kitchenaid 3 door french and 3 weeks have gone by and the ice maker quits working! Call customer service. What a joke. No help there! Do not buy anything from this company ever! This fridge is a piece of junk. Model number is KRFC704FPS. This company needs to be sued for the garbage they are unloading on people!

I bought a KSCS25INS00 side by side and in its 3rd year of operation, the center wall between the fridge and the freezer started getting too hot to touch. When I bought the fridge from Sears, it stayed in their warehouse for one and half year (paid for) due to some family issue and therefore, when the problem happened, I was told it’s out of warranty. A technician checked it out and claimed the control board is bad. To my surprise, some time later, I was told KitchenAid does not sell this part anymore and I have to send it to some rebuilder for the tune of almost $500.00 plus shipping and of course, labor (about $875.00). I don’t think this a fair deal, to spend nearly $3000.00 for a fridge (I figured buying high end appliance will have fewer problems). That’s not bad enough. I had bought a stove and a dishwasher as well. The stove shows an error message and I have to pull it out and disconnect and reconnect every so often. The dishwasher had broken basket pieces and broken door spring line and roller. Now Im in the hell of a mess. Do I spend $800-900 fixing what I have or spend $1200.00 to buy another piece of junk to replace my HIGH END KitchenAid?

We have had a lot of problems with this microwave. The door locks and does not open (happened twice! I had to take it apart to replace the plastic mechanism). The light bulb burned out. This is NOT a consumer serviceable item! (Im a licensed electrical engineer; I think I can replace a light bulb without getting shocked by the capacitor!) I found one online and fixed it. The latest problem is the microwave runs with the door open! It happened earlier today. Then it worked fine, but it just happened again! We put something in and started it and then it timed out and stopped. We opened the door and it started running again. This is DANGEROUS! I have small children and the microwave is mounted below the counter! I dont want my children getting hurt by this hazardous device! We chose KitchenAid because we thought it had a reputation for quality. Boy, were we wrong! We have had problems with our other KitchenAid appliances as well, but the microwave is the worst!

This microwave oven is a replacement for the Electrolux that I previously owned. I would not own another because I had several issues before it totally stopped working. I have only owned this KitchenAid microwave for a few months but it's been great and has more features than I will ever use. It's also a convection air oven which I like very much even though we don't use that feature very much.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2007 and have repaired this machine on an average, twice a year, and I’m disgusted with KitchenAid (not worthy of capitals). This is a $1,000.00 latch-less machine. I replaced the latch, strikes, and door cords, several times for all. Junk is the best description for this product. KitchenAid has a problem. They have never revised any of the replacement parts. I hope this helps some people look at other brands, I know I will!

KitchenAid needs to do a recall on this dishwasher. We have required repair to the top rack tracks on the left and right sides! The circular piece on the track that pops into the dishwasher rack keeps breaking. I am now going online to find replacement parts to (temporarily!!!) fix it myself. When I asked the repairmen who covers KitchenAid warrantees about the rack, he said he had not seen problems so I showed him the hundreds of comments and reviews from people who hate this dishwasher for this very reason. KitchenAid does not care and they can forget this customer forever.

Kitchenaid Gas free standing range. I always thought Kitchenaid was a dependable brand. I believe this range cost us $1700. I liked that it had convection oven and that the grates on top covered the entire top so no matter what size pan or griddle you used it did not wobble. This range turned out to be the worst range I have ever owned! The repair man knew us by name including our dogs! The other terrible thing about it is we had to order this range and had to pay in advance of receiving it. Purchased at Westar in Tucson Arizona. The range did not come in for 5!!! Months.AND to make matters worse our warranty started from the day we ordered it! Kitchenaid policy! I went on facebook and wished I had done that before the purchase because there were literally hundreds and hundreds of complaints. When I suggested we all get together and start a class action law suit Kitchenaid blocked me from posting on their wall. I will NEVER buy a Kitchenaid again. My advice would be stay away from Kitchenaid. They are not what they used to be. You pay alot of money for nothing!I now research completely before I buy any appliances. I take my time, I ask around. Sometimes the less expensive brands are 100% better. It took so long to get this range that after my complaining weekly (because every week they said it would be in that week) they finally gave me a GE use in the meantime since I had NO range. The GE they loaned me was a $700 range but after finally getting the Kitchenaid I realized the GE ran circles around the KA.

Owned this dishwasher (KDTO104SS) for 8 months. It replaced a Bosch. Gradual decline in performance for last month. Did the hard restart, worked for one cycle. Requested warranty service, waited one week for repairman, he ordered new part, waited another week for him to return. He then said another part had to be ordered, refused to overnight as he is only paid once for warranty service and only came once a week to this city. Then he indicated that the control unit was shorted as insects had gotten inside. We have professional pest control and have never seen those insects. They were, in fact, inside the controller. This must be a design flaw, as there isnt a place in the country where some insects do not reside. We have previously dishwasher for more than a decade with no problem. The manufacturer indicated there is no recourse. We bought this as it was made in this country and had good performance. The seller is working with us to get another appliance, but we will NEVER buy a KitchenAid again.

Hi. Purchased model number KH HC 2090 SSS - 3 n 2011 along with all the other kitchen appliances. We have been very happy with this powerful and feature packed microwave up until a few weeks ago. It began beeping and the touchpad but display all kinds of different functions. The microwave still worked so we continue to use it until my wife informed me that it had actually turned itself on and started cooking by itself. Unplug the unit and promptly called KitchenAid. Their customer service was great and even though the unit is 3 years out of warranty they offered to fix it free. We will see how the repair goes but so far I am very happy with their product and service.

We purchased a white Kitchen Aid gas range (model #KGRS206XWH2). Less than two months after installation, the lettering on the burner control knobs is dissolving off, and smears off with the touch of a finger. I called Kitchen Aid for new knobs, and they said they would send new control knobs as a one time courtesy. They do not consider it under warranty, as they call it a cosmetic issue. No chemicals, or abrasives have been used on these knobs. It is not a cosmetic issue, its an engineering defect, and a safety issue. Unless you want to live for years, with a range that has no lettering on the burner control knobs, dont purchase this range!

Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased
Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased new KitchenAid Proline KUDE40SPX3 to match our Wolf/Sub-Zero equipment. After several months, we noticed our cabinetry adjacent to the dishwasher was starting to warp and peel paint. We initially believed that the cabinetry was defective. Then one evening, our little 3-year-old screamed in horror from the kitchen. She had a burn on her face and said the dishwasher did it. We then noticed the steam coming from the side vent of the unit. The louvers are positioned so that the steam under pressure is directed downward. However, since the vent is adjacent to the kitchen cabinetry, the steam not only hits the cabinetry but is directed in front of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers have the vent at the top of front door lip, which directs the steam up and away from the front of the dishwasher. I notified KitchenAid Customer Service. Their first response was that the unit was 1 month out of warranty and they referred me back to Pacific Sales where I purchased an extended warranty. Pacific Sales extended warranty department stated that the defect was a manufacturer defect and not an electrical or mechanical defect and directed me back to KitchenAid. KitchenAid then agreed to send a service rep out and would cover any parts and/or labor to repair the defect, including any venting kit. They also said that the manual has a disclosure about the side venting; however, I pointed out there is no such disclosure and no special instructions with regards to steam being emitted out the side/front and being a potential hazard to children and surrounding cabinetry. KitchenAids factory repair rep came and observed the defect and notated such back to KitchenAid. Then, KitcheAaid took the position that it was not responsible since it was no longer within the 12-month warranty period.

Model KUDS301XBL - This dishwasher was purchased in May 2011 at a total cost of almost $1,000. Since having it installed, it has required service and the motor has been replaced twice - in 2012 and again in 2013. The wheels and rollers have repeatedly broken off. Now, after less than four years, it has failed again and the motor will need to be replaced for the third time. Each time services required, it is a minimum of one week - and typically 2 to 3 weeks - that our family of six is without the use of a dishwasher. In addition to its lack of reliability, this high-end dishwasher has never adequately done a good job of washing dishes. Even the service technician has said, I dont care what the salesperson told you, if you want your dishes to be clean, you will have to pre-wash them. Perhaps we just got a lemon, but the manufacturer has done nothing to correct our situation.

We bought a new house in February 2007, and a few months later, we came back from vacation and we had mushrooms growing out our baseboards behind the dishwasher. We called the builder and they came out to take a look. The dishwasher had faulty pump that was leaking. The builder replaced the whole washer, carpet, and baseboards. Now, the pump went out and KitchenAid says it is two months out of warranty and cant help and that I have to shell out $400 to fix the pump. KitchenAid does not stand by their products. You shouldnt have to deal with that many problems with a dishwasher (model kudp02frss3) in the first 5 years.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in March 2011 from Lowes. I chose the KitchenAid brand and paid a slightly higher amount as I was told they are well built and work better than any other brand on the market, and because I thought they would stand by their product. In December 2012, the upper rack adjuster broke because it is made of plastic and the dishwasher has the lift higher feature, that is used quite a bit. I contacted customer service and they said the part was out of stock and finally in late January I received the replacement part. Last week it broke again, same place, so I contacted customer service again and I asked them if anyone else has this issue and I was told they could not discuss this with me but there is no recall. Was told I am sorry but the part is in stock, call Marcone to order the part. The cost is $40.00 plus shipping. I am so angry right now. I have a dishwasher that is useless. Without the top rack in the upper spray unit will not work.

Under no circumstances would I purchase the K-A double wall oven. Woe and pity to those reviewers who are stuck with one of these. I purchased the first one back in 2001, very excited about the great features. Within 3 years, the self-cleaning program failed 3 times, the entire motherboard once... Glad I bought the extended warranty. I had to argue with K-A/Whirlpool to finally get a replacement that supposedly had the bugs fixed. Not so; the self-cleaning cycle again twice blew out the entire oven(s). What was I offered this time? A percentage of my original purchase price to be used toward another of the same model? Why on earth would I pay for or even want another of the same failing product? After several repairs for the same issue, K-A told me they would no longer fix the ovens if the self-cleaning problem happened again. So, for the past 5 years, I have resorted to the old cleaning method (for fear of blowing the units). Now I am in the process of a kitchen remodel. Believe it or not, most of the retailers are recommending Kitchen-Aid, how dare they? I have investigated many brands of medium to high end quality and price. I recommend the GE Profile or Cafe series for both performance, worry free use and fair pricing. (NO, I do not work for GE!) FYI- The K-A tech told me the company has known about the self-cleaning blowout for years. Cheaper to fix on warranty or charge the customer that correct the problem! Let the buyer beware!

I purchased this french door refrigerator with a water dispenser inside the refrigerator 6 months ago. The first problem was the gasket around the freezer was not sealing so there was ice buildup in the freezer. The next problem was the door hinge was not installed correctly so the refrigerator doors were not sealing. Now there is water dripping between the 2 doors. Whirlpool purchased KitchenAid & I have heard the KitchenAid quality has since decreased. I believe the product should work. 3 problems with a brand new refrigerator tells me something else will most likely break. Im disgusted that Whirlpool wont just replace this defective refrigerator. If I wanted to take a chance on the refrigerator breaking, I would have bought used.

This is quick, easy, and short. I purchased a new KitchenAid side by side
This is quick, easy, and short. I purchased a new KitchenAid side by side in March of 2011. One month later, it stopped cooling. As a service tech, I had already tested and found that the start relay and overload were bad because the compressor was about to take a dump. I called for service which took about a week to arrange. When the service tech arrived, he replaced the relay and overload without testing the compressor. I asked him if that was common practice which I knew wasnt. He replied that it was a common problem and it wasnt necessary to test the compressor and everything should be fine. Little did he know about my abilities. Knowing KitchenAids reputation, I was fully prepared on how to deal with the situation and didnt want or need to have to go through what so many others had to do. Also knowing that the compressor only had a limited life of maybe a week before it quit completely, I first purchased a used old refrigerator for $50.00 to get me by just in case. In about 8 days, the problem with the original fridge returned now even worse. Then, I went to the same store I bought the original KitchenAid. I purchased the same unit on my credit card for over $2,600. Foreseeing what was impending doom for the original fridge, I moved it out of site and had the new one delivered. The next day, I canceled the credit card transaction for the new fridge and called the store to advise them to come and get the fridge. What they didnt know is I exchanged the old fridge with the new one and even switched the ID tags that have the serial number. The next day, the store came to get the fridge not knowing they got the old one broken back in exchange. Ironically, no one had a clue nor did they even check. So, I ended up with a working new refrigerator. And I didnt have to deal with poor service not only from the store, KitchenAid reps, or a service provider that doesnt have a clue on how to repair these products. In the end, I not only now have a good working and new refrigerator, but the old one I bought as a stand by for $50 was cleaned up and completely checked out, then sold for $150.00.

Today I phoned for my 4th service call for this 2 year old KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS30FXSS. It simply doesnt clean the dishes, leaving a food residue on mainly the top rack of dishes. Each time, the serviceman has cleaned out the chopper and pump (beware: there is no removable filter for this model) and it cleans for a few weeks, then we start washing by hand until I can find a time to stay home for another service person to come out to do the same thing. Even though I purchased the 4 year extended warranty, KitchenAid has denied this 4th claim. I have been a loyal KitchenAid customer, and will be replacing this dishwasher with different brand. I am deeply dissatisfied with KitchenAids customer service, in particular with their Whirlpool Factory Certified Care. In June of 2011, I called KitchenAid customer service about a broken spring for my microwave oven door. They recommended a local certified KichenAid appliance repair shop. I spent $411.67 on replacing one broken spring. Just eight months later in 4/2012, the spring broke again and cracked the glass on the door in the process. This time, the KitchenAid customer care recommended their new company, Factory Certified Care. I was unhappy about the spring breaking again so soon from the previous repair. And I was guaranteed that their own KitchenAid technicians, who only deal with KitchenAid products, provide a stellar repair service. However, the repair took two long days, and the technicians used graphs, sketches to figure out how parts go together, without seeming to be the experts they promised to be. Nevertheless, after the replacement of many parts, I paid another $463.63. Only 53 days later, two screws came falling out, unhinging the door. What kind of poorly made parts, workmanship and quality of service renders screws falling out some short weeks after a service call? I called their customer service immediately relating this problem and found their representatives completely frustrating and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and they were equally unpleasant. They knew only to recite their 30-day labor guarantee policy. Even if the part (screws/ brackets that was replaced) was under warranty, I am looking at spending at least another $100 just to have someone put back two screws. Furthermore, given my experience, what faith do I have that the screws they put back or other parts that they replaced/assembled recently wont be falling apart again just outside of the 30 days, rendering me to pay another sum for service call? I asked the supervisor why anyone in my situation would ever use their service again or purchase their products. They did not seem to care one way or another. There is absolutely no business that will thrive or sustain without reliability and a positive reputation. I spent two frustrating hours speaking with their customer service representatives to find myself at a dead end. I wrote to their customer service department to share this excruciating experience and never received a reply.

The same model - a KitchenAid counter depth 29 inch depth refrigerator was put in our new kitchen by a reputable contractor, in addition to a new KitchenAid dishwasher, stove and in counter microwave. The refrigerator lasted exactly 22 months at which time the freezer stopped working. We called a service repair man and he noted that it was a very serious problem - the entire cooling unit of the refrigerator needed to be replaced and would cost $1500-1600 to repair. He advised we buy a new refrigerator. We are in the process of doing so, as the repair man said the refrigerator portion of it may last 2 days or 2 weeks. This is totally unacceptable. We contacted our kitchen contractor and he said he would call Whirlpool to see what they will do to remedy the situation. I would not want another KitchenAid appliance if they gave it to us for free.

KDRS483VSS - DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID RANGES!! They dont know how to repair them and their policy is not to replace them but to repair them. I am talking about an $8000 dual fuel range that I have waited years to purchase only to find out that once it was delivered the only thing working properly was the gas top. This is a very classy looking expensive piece of JUNK metal. The hinges on the large oven dont pull the door closed enough to turn off the oven light and you have to press the door in to turn light off. I now have no working ovens at all and this was through the Thanksgiving Holidays. No one cared!!! The oven shows several error codes and now just does nothing. I thought that KitchenAid was a reputable company but that is not the case. This is a known problem with these units. After many complaints still no results!!

The fill valve did not shut off and the Kitchen Aid dishwasher (KUDS30IXBL) overflowed and flooded. I believe the problem is a design error. Probably a weak return spring that causes the valve to chatter when it tries to close. I could hear the water hammer in the pipes. The unit was locked in that hammer mode even when I pulled the power plug. I had to turn off the water supply to stop the cycle.I called for repair and tech came right out and replaced the fill valve. The unit worked well for about a week but problem returned yesterday. I turned down the supply line flow to see if that worked. I restricted the flow too much and unit did not fill properly. I turned the flow back up some and am monitoring. I am so sad to have to go through this with what USED TO BE such a fine appliance brand.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased & installed about two and a half years ago (Dec 11). The model is KUDS35FXSS4 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. We also purchased the extended warranty which is thru Federal Warranty Service Corp. We are having the same, repeating top rake wheels failure (3 times so far - every 9 to 12 months) that many others are experiencing. 1st time was under warranty bought from them... Of course the ext warranty does NOT cover wheels and rollers so downtime, parts, labor, aggravation, etc is on us. Thought KitchenAid was a reputable brand like Maytag 20+ years ago (before they went out of business for poor quality and reliability).Wrote KitchenAid a letter explaining and complaining about our recurring issue over a month ago and have heard nothing. Like many others on this site wed thought there would have been a recall or a part redesign to address this design failure but we see no change in parts when we reorder, over and over again. Funny, the parts supplier acknowledged they are sending out a lot of this specific part to address this specific problem. Anyone know how to initiate a class action lawsuit? Based on all the responses read on this site looks like we certainly have the beginnings of one. With so many out of work lawyers right now it could be a way for some of them to get started. It goes without saying (but we are saying it anyway) we are forever done with any future KitchenAid appliances.

I called the company, and was told, that if I want my oven clean, I should call a serviceman to take my oven apart - My cost!!!! How can anybody make an oven that cannot be cleaned? How can you sell an oven that needs to be cleaned by a serviceman every time?

I am very disappointed with Kitchenaid. Our dishwasher was purchased and installed 18 months ago. Our use of the dishwasher was very light, maybe using it 2-3 times per week. We were also very careful to remove excess food from the dishes before putting into the machine. After 18 months, the dishes were not getting clean. A repairman came to assess and found that the motor/pump needed replacement. The cost of the visit was 98.79. To repair the machine would be an additional 364.00 plus taxes. It is ridiculous that Kitchenaid is producing such poor quality appliances which are essentially disposable landfill objects and will not take responsibility. Their warranties (very limited) are only good for 1 year from purchase.

We purchased a very high end Kitchenaid refrigerator. Due to a design flaw (admitted by company as settlement decided upon) we incurred property damage. Due to the Global pandemic parts are hard to come by. Completely understandable. Not the companys fault. Once parts became available the issues with the service department started. We would have to wait online for literally hours at a time in order to speak with someone having to explain our story again and again. No direct number to call. And every time feeling like we were the bad guy. Feeling like we were trying to cheat the system. No one was willing to help us. They would just push us from department to department, manager to manager (never actually speaking with a manager). No one ever making a decision.Ultimately, problem being we live in a small community with limited access to service providers. We live over three hours from a large center. And we’re left on our own to find our own service provider. After we found a service provider Whirlpool would not approve the service provider because it was only one service man. They would only approve a company that had two or more service providers because the refrigerator was too big for one person. When we offered to hire a third-party they refused so we had zero opportunities to have our new refrigerator fixed. After hours and hours on hold and fighting just to get a refrigerator fixed they finally agreed to fix it for the amount that they had originally agreed to and then change their mind but would not send any kind of documentation stating this. So now we have to pay out of pocket hoping that when we submit the paid invoice that they will reimburse us. When asked what the turnaround time for repayment was I was told minimum four weeks. Moral of the story if you live in a small community away from a big service area you will not get your refrigerator fixed without having to pay some out-of-pocket expense. In our experience nothing last forever so if you think you’re going to phone and get warranty you’re wrong so maybe think twice.

We are lucky this did not catch fire. The service person is saying that the part may have been discontinued. Wondering how Whirlpool corporation is going to rectify this as they do not replace appliances, just fix them under warranty.

I bought a new house from a builder in October 2012 which was a new built house. He installed Kitchen Aid Microwave KBMS 1454 SSS-3 which was expensive. Me and my wife are the only 2 members in house and sometimes my niece come to visit us. We were out of the country for total of around 5 months in last 2 1/4 years. We were not using microwave a lot. It means that we did not use microwave for total of two years since we bought the house. The other day I was popping the popcorn and I could not. Microwave was running but it was not popping the popcorn. I searched about this problem online and tried basic things as per the recommendation on web but It was not working. For expensive microwave like this one, it should work for at least 4-5 years. I called the kitchen aid for my complaints and they offered me extended plan for around $300 for one year warranty. I hope company like kitchen aid should take responsibility of their defective unit and help the customers by fixing it without charging them lot of dollars.

Like many others, we bought the KitchenAid based on recommendations from HD and other appliance stores. We spent a bit more to get the high temp wash and power scrub features; basic wash by most products simply does not cut it. After about 2 years the pump started making a racket like a hammer tapping very fast on a metal plate. And...no warranty for the pump. The pump!!! Jeesh. Our first dishwasher from GE lasted 20+ years without touching it. Our second, from JennAir, lasted 6 and that is after I replaced the pump, the door seal, the main filter system and the top rack. The KitchenAid we bought...seems about 2 years. KitchenAid is no better than the worst manufacturers out there. What a joke.

Regarding Model: KUDC10FXSS7. Despite our pre-rinsing all dishes well, using the Heavy Duty cycle, and never having any trouble with the other 3 brands of dishwashers we have had, the KitchenAid dishwasher just does not clean the dishes. The unit is less than two years old and has never worked well. Additionally, the cycle time for the dishwasher is at least twice as long as the other brands we have used in the past. My wife and I are very disappointed that we have wasted our money on a product that does not work.

In the past 8 year I have built 2 new homes on the upscale side of the housing market. In both situations I used higher appliances from KitchenAid. For the investment made, I am very dissatisfied with quality of the produce drawers. On both drawers, the chrome deco on the drawer handle has come loose dueto faulty adhesive and both drawers have cracked in the center of the drawer handles. This is something I would expect from a 300.00 refrigerator, not one over 2000 dollars @ builders cost. In addition, I had the ice maker replaced in 6 months due to a faulty board, which is something you as manufacturers are aware of, but failed to advise the consumer. We have replaced the ice maker board and now will address replacing both produce drawers. I must say that after less than one year of ownership and facing the fact that all the other series of appliances are also KitchenAid products, I am waiting for the next problem to occur. I come from a family of builders, both residential and commercial and intend to advise them to consider other upscale appliance manufacturers on future projects. If this letter never goes up the management ladder I am sure I will receive the same reply as my last e-mail, indicating that your Customer Service Department also needs repair. Being an owner of several national companies myself, I am very aware of the damage that can be done by not reacting to a problem, where consumers are involved. Thank you.

Bought a KitchenAid Dishwasher 15 months ago. Almost $900. Wife wanted it to match our KA fridge. I thought, for that kind of $$, the KA DW would clean better and last longer than my moms $300 Kenmore. But the KA has never cleaned well, even with top-line Cascade products. This week, it would start but not complete a cycle. Nothing in the manual about this. Called customer service. Took them 20 minutes to tell me they have no troubleshooting advice for this problem. My only option was to pay for a service call and the machine is just 3 months out of warranty! I told the lady that I would be writing many uncomplimentary reviews. Im convinced that KitchenAid is not worth the extra money. It is NOT a better product.

This range (Frigidaire Gallery 30 electric range model# CGEF304DK) was included in our new home purchased last year. The range looks nice but the oven racks repeatedly fall down causing the food and pans to spill out! This problem I was told was due to my neglect. Are they kidding? Steel racks are not long enough to stay in contact with the oven sides! The racks are not distorted or bent they just fall down. This could cause serious flesh burns and or a catastrophic fire if unattended for any short time period. KitchenAid totally abandoned their responsibility in this matter. Also the convection fan failed to operate. This upscale range is not older than 3 years, its a disgrace. We put tin cans in to support the racks when using the oven. Pitifully sad. Then last night at 1:20 am I woke up to it beeping and the control panel read 5:42 & it would not cancel so I had to unplug it. We originally notified KitchenAids warranty department on or around 11/16/2017 about our refrigerator (KRFC704FPSoo) not cooling adequately and making a loud shrill noise. We were told that the service company (Authorized Service, Inc.) would be here on 11/17/2017. We were contacted on 11/17/2017 by the service repair company that they could not come until 11/20/2017. On 11/20/2017 the repair company showed up and told us that the compressor needed to be replaced and that it would take approximately a week for the parts to come in. On 11/28/2017 the repair company revisited and this time informed us that the problem was not the compressor and that the problem was a temperature sensor/regulator and that they would expedite ordering the replacement parts. After the repair company left, they later called and confirmed that they had ordered the parts. I again notified the KitchenAid warranty department on 12/2/2017 and expressed our concerns regarding our warranty service and they started passing us around from department to department offering no help with our problem. On 12/4/2017 I contacted the repair company and informed them that we had not received the supposedly expedited repair parts and they informed me that they were scheduled to be here on 12/5/2017. When no repair parts were received on 12/5/2017 we again contacted the repair company and this time they informed us that the repair parts were ordered late afternoon on 12/4/2017. We were told to expect the parts to arrive on 12/6/2017. We later received another call from the repair company explaining that the repair parts would not be here until 12/7/2017.During this process we also contacted Home Depot (where we purchased the refrigerator) on 12/2/2017 and spoke with someone in their appliance department and explained our problems and concerns with the Kitchenaid warranty service. The lady I spoke with told me that she would get in touch with Kitchenaid and she would see if she could find out what was going on and get back with us on 12/4/2017. She also mentioned that she would explain our situation with her associate manager. Since I did not hear from anyone from Home Depot on 12/4/2017, I again contacted the appliance department and was informed that they could not help me. In the meantime we still are without the use of our refrigerator and it is now leaking water onto our new hardwood floors which I assume is being caused by the compressor freezing up and then thawing. This started happening on 12/2/2017 and was told to KitchenAid, Home Depot and the service repair company. After all that has happened with this refrigerator and the service supplied by all parties involved, KitchenAid, Authorized Service, Inc. and Home Depot, I would advise anyone to look elsewhere for their appliance needs.

Three months ago, our 15-year old fridge died. We headed to Lowes and selected a KitchenAid side-by-side/freezer drawer below (model KFIL27CXMS5). It looked very nice in the store and we selected it because we thought the brand had a good reputation. Three months later, rust spots appeared on the stainless steel doors. I called KitchenAid, only to be told they saw this as a cosmetic issue which was not covered. They did say they could send a repairman to look at it, but I would have to pay for the service call. I protested and spoke to the service manager. No help! I returned to the Lowes store and the appliance manager had Lowes file a formal complaint with KitchenAid. He said Lowes would stand behind me. Wish I had never purchased KitchenAid appliance. Beware. We have a double confection oven, induction cook top, dishwasher, microwave and fridge...all of them are junk. Oven door was broken right out of the box. Took about 1 month to get a new one and it doesnt work like they advertise that is for SURE. Dishwasher blew the hoses, ruined my kitchen floor and ceiling in the basement. Service man came and said oh yes we know that is a faulty clamp, fixed it and put a huge scrape in my hardwood floor. Fridge blew the hose to the ice maker, again my hardwood floor and ceiling in the basement service guy came out. Oh yes we have a fix for that...it is a faulty piece. Microwave just stopped working, service guy had no idea and wanted us to uninstall it so he could take it with him (it is an over the range hood microwave and weighs about 200 lbs) but he managed to get it working.Induction cook top blew up, smoke and all 1 year to the day of installation (but it wasnt covered because the appliances got delivered before they were installed) had to have a huge argument with customer service that the warranty was 2 years on major components. They said it was not a major component even though the cost of the new board was $800.00. They finally agreed to cover it. Was without a stove for several weeks. Then the dishwasher went again. My hardwood and basement ceiling all water damaged again. This time the water blew the board in the dishwasher. Over 1 month to get the parts just got it fixed 2 weeks ago. Then last week the Microwave stopped working again...still waiting for service. This was my dream kitchen that has turned into a nightmare. Every time I need service I need to take a day off work. I have replaced my ceiling tiles 3 times in the basement, my kitchen floor is warped and gouged and you know what they told me? That is not our problem take it up with your house insurance!

Superba YKEBC107KM - 2 issues; Door hinges seized and new thermostat blew after one self clean. 2 authorized repairmen failed to fix my door hinge problem. The 2nd guy said it would be $600 parts & labor in addition to the $150 service call that left my oven torn apart! I ordered new hinges and receivers from Partselect.ca and installed them myself. All good. I thought it would be smart to replace the 12 year old thermostat while I had the unit out. The replacement thermostat blew with the first self clean cycle. Partselect sent me a replacement which I just installed (now Im a pro at working on this unit!). I suspect the part is NOT at fault. Its more likely the lack of ventilation in the cabinet space to dissipate the extreme heat created during self clean. The thermostat is actually working properly. It senses the operating temperature has risen beyond what the components can handle and shuts it down. Unfortunately, this solution is not prioritized by manufacturers and technicians. The feature is what sells more units. So its true; more bells and whistles doesnt necessarily mean better! KA will not give consumers any insight into repair of their products. It is a racket that insulates the manufacturers through the technicians, financed by the consumer.

We purchased this KitchenAid Household Ref. from Lowes. 4 1/2 months of owning it there started a loud clicking noise from the back of the unit, ice built up in the veggie drawer that it couldnt shut, and water from the left side of the ref. dripping down into the two shelving parts. Once the door is open along the way the water runs out onto my floor. On the way to close MORE water runs onto the floor and then down the front of the freezer that is on the bottom. Since the issue we have had KitchenAids preferred service AAA out of Howell MI come out for 3 different service calls. Each time I am told, The problem is fixed and you will have no more water leaking. I have white water stains in my trays and the stain on the front of the ref. due to the leaks and sitting water. After calling again today because it is STILL leaking I spoke with Melinda (Customer Service) with all she could offer me was at first a service call at my cost then returned with a no cost, I spoke to Tim (Supervisor for KitchenAid Tennessee office) who explained there was not a thing anyone could to but another service call. Who is going to pay for ANOTHER day off of work? This will be the 4th time I have had to take a day off of work for repairs to this refrigerator. A consumer should NOT have to clean up a water mess every time the unit is opened and the water streak down the front is not appealing. This is obviously an issue with the unit. I asked for the unit to be exchanged with the SAME unit and I was told that You would be eligible for a replacement at a discounted price. Are you serious? I already paid the full price for this unit.Something has to be done to not allow consumers to be buying nonworking items and costing more than the unit itself. The KitchenAid dishwasher I purchased in November 2019 is pretty, and its the quietest one Ive ever had. When its running, its hardly noticeable. But...its simply not good at thoroughly cleaning every dish and utensil, especially for the price point (≈$900), to warrant spending the money on it. Add to this, it is horrible at drying the dishes/utensils. I would not purchase again. I bought a suite of KitchenAid appliances when I got it as part of an entire kitchen remodel. The double-oven, dual fuel range and above-range microwave with vent are fantastic, and the cabinet-depth refrigerator is decent. My KitchenAid Refrigerator had buildup of ice in the fridge. It was behind the deli drawer so it wouldn’t close. Phoned Whirlpool to get them to fix the problem. A man came and fixed it or so he said. Three months later it did the same thing. I phoned Whirlpool again. They were coming on 24th Jan. Defrosted fridge again. On the 24th I got a phone call from Whirlpool. They asked me what part was replaced the last time they were here. She said she would have to find out so would call me back. She found the part and said they have to order it, so I would have to wait another week. I said it should still be under warranty. She would ask and call me back. At 2:15 she called back and said I would have to pay for the part and labor. I told them that I would get my own reliable repairman. I have since read the reviews and will NEVER deal with them again. They don’t care about customer service at all.

We purchased a KitchenAid Convection Double Oven from Lowes. We had always heard that KitchenAid was a top of the line oven. Since this oven was purchased, it has not worked correctly. Either the top or the bottom oven will not heat, the igniters on the burners has gone out several times. When we tried to find a repairman, there is not one in available anywhere in our area. We have tried several local repairmen. They replace numerous parts and we have been charged $200 to $300 dollars each time. The website for KitchenAid has been absolutely no help at all. If anyone is in the market for a high-end Oven, DO NOT PURCHASE a KitchenAid. They are absolutely JUNK and cannot be repaired if you live in a Rural area.

Kitchenaid Duel Fuel Range Oven Problem Model KDRP407HSS10 - While baking oven door locked and went into cleaning cycle, food in oven was smoking and could not cancel cycle. Husband had to turn breaker off and let oven cool down and then turn breaker back on so electronics would unlock door and then was able to get food out. Tried to use oven again and did the same thing. Called Kitchenaid and they would not admit or even acknowledge they were aware of the problem. I told them they had to be aware of the problem because I have seen postings of the same exact problem going all the way back to 2005. Had to ask twice to talk to supervisors at next level to try and get their explanation of what it would take to repair the range. I explained I wanted to talk to someone who had knowledge of what it was required to fix the problem. Someone at KA has to know what is wrong. I am now waiting for the third supervisor to call us back. One posting I read said that in the state of NY there was a class action lawsuit filed against KA. This is an extremely dangerous situation and could cause a serious fire. Do not understand why this problem has not been addressed. The ovens should have been recalled.

What a croc! We bought our house on May 12, 2012. The house was only 1-year-old at the time and had nice, shiny, new KitchenAid appliances in it. Last week I used the self-clean on my wall oven. After 3 hours and cooled, I wiped out the oven of the debris and found that the pretty blue interior has now changed to ugly grey. I didnt use the oven for a few days after cleaning, but when I did use it, it wouldnt heat up. I tried several times on several different days and temps, and followed the manual on troubleshooting to no avail. So I called the builder and the supplier. I was told only 1 year warranty on appliances. I would have to call a repairman. Well thats just great. For the price that these appliances cost, you would think they would have a better guarantee. Still waiting on what its going to cost me. After reading all these other reviews, if I need a new oven you bet your ** it wont be a KitchenAid.

We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dishwasher in 2007 when we renovated our kitchen. We have had to replace the control panel twice because when we attempted to self clean, it overheated and locked up. After reading other reviews, I am grateful the glass didnt break as well. The off button for the oven no longer works. Our work around is using the cook duration feature and setting it for 1 minute when we are finished using it. I couldnt tell you the model since everything has melted off the inside of the oven. The top grates broke almost immediately, the knobs are hot and the color has worn off. What I find most upsetting is the over range microwave starts by itself and beeps randomly and then shuts off with an F2 error. We have kept it unplugged when not in use. Out of principle, we have not wanted to replace these as we paid a considerable amount thinking we were buying quality. While apparently the microwave is known to start fires and Kitchenaid never sent us notification. Now our front burner on the stove is having excess gas and conducting mini explosions. We have had to repair the dishwasher multiple times as well. What garbage! I cant believe all of the reviewers who have the same problems and the KitchenAid does nothing to correct the flaws in their appliances. Never, NEVER AGAIN!

Had to buy this refrigerator to fit into an existing built in space. The size fit perfectly. Only positive to our experience. DO NOT BUY this refrigerator for the following reasons: Installed in Jan 2016 and already had to replace icemaker, slides on bottom drawer dont work, seals on top french doors moldy, temperature not regulated in refrigerator, and freezer section froze up. Labor costs to repair is very high: quoted $340 to replace freezer drawer slides and around $100.00 each time someone comes out to check. Mold started accumulating on refrigerator seals. Noticed some small rust spots on the freezer door (exterior) that I could not remove. We do not overload either freezer or refrigerator and we vacuum out coils regularly. My next review will be on my Kitchenaid double ovens - very disappointed with these as well!!!

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator on Sept. 15, 2015 and it arrived with a non-working ice maker. We purchased it from a local Eugene, OR company rather than a big box store. My wife wanted to support a local business. When called about the non-working ice maker that dealer said wait 72 hours to see if it comes on because sometimes it takes that long. Had we known that we could not have made the purchase. Other manufacturers provide ice makers that begin work immediately (e.g., GE or LP). When it did not work 72 hours later we called the dealer again and he said he would call KitchenAid (KA) about warranty service. KA called a couple days later to say the parts were on order and would be ready in about 5 days. Nothing happen after 5 days and our dealer has not been any further help (Appliance and TV Center, Eugene, OR). Given the fact that the refrigerator arrived broken and there appears to be no KA service, we regret this purchase. Others in the market would be well-advised to avoid KitchenAid and look to GE or LP whose appliances have worked well for us.

Why is it so difficult to make dependable products these days? We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in January 2013 and the control panel went out twice within the first year and now it is out again and the dishwasher will not run. The model number according to the inside of the machine is W10502126A. Now I just purchased a one year parts/labor warranty which was not cheap to have them come out to replace the panel. I bought the warranty because something tells me this is not a permanent fix rather a band aid as I think it will go out again before the year is up. Expensively made cheap product.

I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

After using the self-cleaning mode three times, the lock would no longer disengage. My oven (KEMC378) was still under warranty at the time so the locking device was replaced. Again after using the cleaning mode a few times, the problem reoccurred with the new lock. After about a week of not using my oven or microwave, the lock disengaged on its own. Needless to say, I no longer use the self-cleaning mode. Recently on 10/27/2012, the locking device, on its own, became engaged and will not release. I can no longer cook or microwave - its completely useless. I called KitchenAid on 10/29/2012 to see if my model was part of the recall. Customer service said no and transferred my call to the service dept. I waited for 10 minutes for someone to pick up my call but they never did.

I loved the way this fridge keeps produce fresh. However, several months after the warranty expired the ice maker quit working. Service man (recommended by appliance store) replaced it but did not fix the problem. They then replaced the compressor, evaporator, and valves. Quit working again. Now they say that it is a sensor (or a board) and needs to be ordered but will take 1-2 weeks. Ive lost two full freezers loads full of frozen food because the freezer temperature wont go below 30 degrees. Repair man stated that this model has 6 boards that can go wrong and often do. Today, ice maker is not producing ice again! Have another call into serviceman. This is the most expensive ($3,700) and the most problematic refrigerator that Ive ever owned. We purchased a kitchenaid dishwasher kude60hx 18 months ago. We purchased the extended warranty with it. The dishwasher pump clamp failed and drained a large amount of water on my hard wood floors. I was at home which saved me from lots of damage to my floor. Its amazing how much damage could have been done. A and e came out and replaced the clamp and the motor which failed from the water. A second motor was needed because the first would not work. Another one was ordered and they came later that day to replace it. Dishwasher still not working. Now a control board would be needed. Part was ordered. I had to wait another week to get that. The new control board was put in. Dishwasher still not working. Now a wire harness would be needed. That part was ordered - or so I thought. It would take 3 days. I called on my appointment day. The part was not in. They would be back in a week to put in the wire harness. The day before the appointment I called because I still did not have the part. I was told that was ok, they were bringing the part. The appointment day arrive. The tech arrived and asked me what was wrong with the dishwasher. He did not have the part. It was never ordered. Now I have to wait a week for that part. I will never buy a kitchenaid dishwasher. Its amazing the damage that can be done by the pump clamp failures. I called kitchenaid to complain. They could care less. I think a class action suit needs to be started. The part that fails costs several dollars. A and E has been a challenge. 4 visits and still not working. Its a shame. No one cares. No one is responsible. We purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher about 3 years ago. KUDS35FXSSO. This dishwasher had the wheels on the top rack fall apart within the first 2 years. Then just days ago, the main controller just stopped working. It looked like the controls were not getting power. So we called Whirlpool and they sent out a local company to see what was wrong. I had to pay $100 for them to tell me that the controller is known to go out and be defective. Also the internal control box was hanging by the wires, also known issue and has caused fires. I also found out the valve was not working so the top sprayers were not getting water so they were not cleaning the top dishes. The parts for these items are covered from years 2-5, but not labor. Total labor cost for all of this plus the previously mentioned cost is around $300. That is not to mention that a heating error was also found (another known issue) but not covered by the warranty. My question is if all of these are known issues, and have occurred to many people, why are these dishwashers not recalled? Or why hasnt there been a class action lawsuit! I will not have them fix this piece of garbage, just so I can pay again down the road to replace or have it fixed again.

We purchased a KitchenAid stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and over the stove microwave three years ago. All stainless steel (except for the plastic parts that are colored to look like stainless steel). So far the refrigerator and dishwasher have not been a problem. In the case of the stove, I was very disappointed with the quality of the stove, particularly the drawer below the oven. You cant describe it as anything other than flimsy. I should have checked out the drawer in the showroom model, but who would think to do that. However the microwave Model YKHMS 1850SS2 is the biggest problem. Having read the other reviews I realize that my complaints are shared by many other customers and that they have not been successful in resolving their complaints with KitchenAid. The first problem was with the vent grill. As others have found the plastic grill is so poorly made it cracks and snaps when you tighten the screws to hold it in place. In fact I discovered beyond the warranty period that the grill was damaged on delivery. Within the last month, the door handle, which looks like stainless steel but is in fact plastic literally broke apart under normal use. I was interested to read the reviews and learn that this is not an uncommon problem. I went online to see if I could get a replacement handle. Replacement handles are readily available for most microwaves, including earlier KitchenAid models at around $45. However, KichenAid will not supply a replacement handle for this model. They will gladly supply a new door for $350. This is unacceptable. Based on the many problems reported in the customer reviews it would be stupid of me to invest in a new door and then be faced with some of the other problems consumers have had with a KitchenAid microwave. We will replace it with a new microwave that is not a Whirlpool product. And we will never buy another KitchenAid stove, refrigerator, dishwasher or other Whirlpool appliance.

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.
