I have just ordered a replacement lint filter for the second time since I’ve had my LG dryer. The top right corner lifts up and attaches to tops, strings, other clothing and rips them and destroys them completely. I’ve tried to ignore it on occasion until my kids start complaining about their clothes as well. I wish we could get compensated for the amount of money we’ve lost in having to replace items. I hope my next order for my replacement lint filter comes soon.

I have almost the exact problem as everyone else here with the nasty mildew/mold smell. The rubber case around the door has black mold around it, which would cause dirty black stain on cotton shirts/bed sheets. If this is obviously a darn bad engineer or defect, why cant we do anything but cry and watch LGs executives getting richer with their Life is good slogan? Does anyone here work in the law department that can help everybody out? All I can do now is to go around and give this link to all websites that carry LG washers so that everybody has a chance to read reviews from the actual users, not paid writers who claim to be experts.

Purchased the Refrigerator in October-2016 after we flooded. The refrigerator stayed in its box that it was delivered in until December 2016 when it was installed. In April-2019 the refrigerator quit cooling and we lost all of the food that was in the refrigerator. We called and reported it to the company and made an appointment for someone to come and look at it. No one showed up for the day we set the appointment in which my wife stayed home the entire day waiting on.We called that evening or the next day and was told it would be the next week before someone came out because the part wasn’t in. The question at that time was what part was ordered because no one had been out yet to see what was wrong with it. Someone did show up the next week and changed the compressor out. Since then the refrigerator makes a loud noise when the compressor kicks on. We have called back about the noise and someone came back and looked at it and thought he fixed it. It still makes the loud noise and we have called again but no one has come out to look at it again.

We purchased a Kenmore Model 79551833412 side by side refrigerator that was manufactured for Sears by LG. This units compressor failed after 17 months. I came to learn there was a class action lawsuit filed against LG for this same issue which unfortunately was dismissed. Because my mother in law is 88 years old and the estimated cost of repair was nearly the cost of a new refrigerator we chose to purchase her a new refrigerator rather than wait for it to be repaired. Sears says their warranty is only one year but the Sears rep said that the manufacturer provides a longer warranty on the compressor but labor would not be included. I contacted LG to see if they would do anything for us. They said that our recourse was with Sears so they wont stand behind their product. Stay away from LG refrigerators.

Already happened three times. Lots of food lost. I will never purchase an LG product again. The evaporator (the thingy with lots of coils and fins, which is responsible for transferring the coldness from the compressed gas to the surrounding air inside the fridge/freezer) ices up. The evaporator defrost heater is working, yet it does not defrost all the ice, allowing for lots of ice buildup. Apparently LG has issue with the timer controlling the defrost cycle. But the bottom line is that when ice builds up on the evaporator fins, no cooling can be done and the food spoils. To fix the issue you have to take the entire fridge (shelves rails, drawers) and freezer (door, rails, ice maker) apart to gain access to the back covers, remove the back covers and manually defrost using a hair drier to remove all the ice build up. I am now an expert in doing this, and it only takes about half a day. But all the food is already spoiled since there is no warning that the fridge and/or freezer stopped working. :-(Apparently this is a common issue with LG, not only this specific model. Other people also have issues with the drain tube freezing up (the drain tube is supposed to drain the water which the evaporator defrost heater thaws. This cause water to overflow and build at bottom of fridge and/or freezer and leak onto the floor, damaging the floor. Some people jury rigged an copper wire extension from the defrost heater into the drain hole to transfer heat from the heater into the drain hole. LG is aware of these issues and has done nothing to address them.Three recommendations for LG: 1- Engineer a better way to detect that there is ice building up and/or make sure that the defrosting cycle is long and/or frequent enough to defrost the evaporator coils and fins. 2- Have an ALARM whenever the temp inside the fridge and/or the freezer is above the set temperature, to warn against spoiling food.3- LG should engineer something to ensure that the drain holed does not ice up. (a heat transfer copper wire as above or a separate heating element around the drain tube).Even if they do listen, I will never purchase an LG product again. -Avi

This washing machine started leaking in the first few months. LG has sent out a service technician 5 times over the past year. The machine continues to leak. Our wait times are 30 minutes at least to get through to customer service. Today we were told they would not replace the machine until a technician deems it unrepairable. Now a year into this process, it is clear they will keep wasting our time and sending out repair technicians without ever replacing the faulty washer. This will be the last LG product we ever buy.

It all rusted out within 2 years. Does not clean clothes that good. I had a Whirlpool for 19 years and never rusted and the clothes come clean. The dryer is ok but in less than a year the filter ripped. LG would not stand up to their product. The Whirlpool I also had for 19 years had the same filter. I only changed machines because I could no longer reach the bottom so I got the front load. Big mistake.

I bought a LG LFX31925ST 2 1/2 years ago from Nebraska Furniture Mart. The compressor went out in only 2 1/2 years. You would think when you pay $2400 for a fridge it would last a little bit longer. Last fridge I had lasted 35 years but then again it was not a LG. Got extended warranty but takes over a week and half to get repairman here. I like getting ice for coolers on a daily basis, updating kitchen and laundry room. But rest assured they will not be LG, worst junk I ever bought.

We were at ABC Warehouse and they had a good sale going. We needed a refrigerator and got one. We had our LG refrigerator for a couple of years but I cant believe they would build something that turns out to be unrepairable for something as simple as an ice maker. You gotta turn it in and cant repair it. It had something to do on the inside of the refrigerator that was causing the ice maker not to work, and you couldn’t get to it as it was sealed. I don’t have the LG refrigerator any longer. People came and got it and were waiting for a check. It has been a month and a half, then I called this morning and the check is going out on Monday. We paid 1,500 for it and were getting 1,200 back. Somebody has to deal with that program. They made a unit like that to where if it doesn’t work, they gotta replace it then send out a check for $1,200. That’s not too good of a way to run a business. If they keep something that works, we would have stuck it out if it was something as simple as replacing an ice maker. Excluding the ice maker, we loved the LG refrigerator. It was great.

I purchased a new LG Top Control Dishwasher with QuadWash and EasyRack Plus from Costco and it was delivered in February. In June, it totally quit working. Costco/LG sent a repair person twice over a course of almost 3 weeks. It still doesnt work and the repair person said it could be a couple of weeks before he returns with what he hopes is the part to fix it. I expect better from both Costco and LG.

I purchased an LG French door refrigerator from Home Depot and it was delivered and installed on 05/25/2016. It has worked great up until 01/24/2020 when it no longer kept food frozen or cold. Followed troubleshooting guide in owners manual, still did not work. Called LG on 01/25/2020 as the unit is under warranty and it took 5 days before repairman (45 miles away) could check the unit. Upon testing on 1/29, he found that the compressor and dryer went bad. It has now been 2 weeks and finally all parts are in, but repair facilities 1st opening is on Friday 2/14. That means 22 days of dining out for meals, which is not cheap. So, if you decide to purchase an LG refrigerator, I suggest you purchase a back up or you will lose in my case, a months worth of food.

LGs 2 year old dishwasher nearly burned my house down then they quietly clo
LGs 2 year old dishwasher nearly burned my house down then they quietly closed 6 cases I opened with 6 representatives to discuss the matter along with the damage their dangerous equipment caused. On the 6th attempt, I asked the representative if it was normal for the previous 5 cases to automatically be closed without any communications, she confirmed it was very odd and she never saw that happen before (all calls were recorded). Additionally, both racks rusted through after 2 years of use. LG agreed to send replacement racks since it was under warranty but they were never delivered. The LG dishwasher also created water damage under the counter, which resulted in a 6 crack under the counter. The root cause was the result of extremely poor engineering by LG. 1) Poorly designed seal which didnt use common design engineering knowledge, 2) an extremely poorly designed latch design, which places a hole in the latch an inch away from the poorly designed seal. The major safety hazard here is that the hole in the latch provides a direct path to the electrical switches in the door latch assembly. These issues are further discussed below.I originally provided LG with a video showing how their dishwasher shorted and burned at the LG dishwasher door latch switch. I discovered the melted door latch assembly and exposed shorted wires because the dishwasher smelled like it was burning. They clearly have design and quality issues. The risk is too high to ever consider an LG appliance again. I also have a 6 month old LG refrigerator and the compressor is occasionally making loud noises... more quality issues with another LG appliance. I also had the V20 for two years. It was a horrible phone. LG provided infrequent updates. So glad I returned to Samsung with the Note 9 and now the Note 20 Ultra... anyways...Here is the video showing the charred and melted door latch after it nearly burned my house down. I also included a second video to diagnose the issue, since there was no longer power to the unit. **. I bought their control board (potted PCBA) for about $200 and a door latch assembly with the correct switches. After installing the new board and latch assembly, I learned that the dishwasher seal suffered from excessive compression set due to a poor mechanical design by LG. Compression set is when the rubber remains compressed and doesnt return to its original shape. This typically occurs when rubber is compressed at more than 50%. The problem can be easily avoided by limiting seal compression to a maximum of 50%. This is basic design engineering knowledge but apparently, LG failed with that very trivial design requirement. In addition to a poorly designed seal, it turns out that my house almost burned down because of a really, really bad LG latch design where the latch opening created direct access to the electrical switches. This is a major safety hazard because the seal preventing water from leaking is about an inch away from the switches; this creates a direct path from the seal to the switches. Water was leaking through the top of the seal and directly through the latch assembly and into the switches. The distance from the seal to the switches is about 1-2 inches so if it leaks, it can cause a fire. The same issue was going to happen again if I continued using the dishwasher. At this point, its clear there is a safety hazard. I will likely start connecting with class action law firms to take further action, since LG continues to quietly close all cases I opened to discuss the matter. It is incredibly alarming that LG would learn of this information and choose to quietly silent my cases. It seems like LG doesnt care about the safety of their customers since they have not responded to my very troubling concerns. Im sure this will elicit a canned response from LG and a request to settle it privately. However, it is troubling that they wouldnt want to make this issue well-known and have a safety recall. My house almost burned down and they quietly closed 6 cases I opened. LGs behavior is beyond unethical. Its also beyond negligent. It seems like it approaches criminal. I can only imagine what other safety hazards they are covering up.There are so many horrible reviews and stories from so many people about LG. I had a bad experience with them last year, which led to me buying another refrigerator after less than 2 years of having the new refrigerator... which also has problems. At this point, maybe I should notify the major retailers of the need to have a safety recall. They may not care about their customers, but they will care about the cost and brand issues associated with a major safety recall... especially when they tried covering it up.

The color, the the brightness and everything thing about them is great. My smallest is a 20 inch in my smallest bedroom. They go up in size from there. My 65 inch is the largest in my living room so I have a variety of sizes and she’s never once have I had to have them fixed. My newest one is 4 years old now almost 5. Thanks for letting me share my experience with anyone that reads this. Very satisfied customer.

I like the overall size of it for the space I need and large freezer door on the bottom pullout as big as I need. I cook a lot so its what I needed to fulfill my stuff. Actually the only thing I do not like on my whole fridge is the fridge does not come equipped with a water dispenser on it because I drink a lot of water and it would come in handy. It was between this model and a Kenmore and this was just a little larger for my taste and fits all my needs for everything I use it for since I cook a lot.

I did buy warranty, but before it expired I called to tell them about the rust. Conns said that is a manufacture problem, they only repair. So I didnt renew it. Now the tub makes horrible noise when washing rinsing. And clothes comes out soggy. I called LG yesterday, I thought maybe they could do the Smart Diagnostic and let me know what machine needs. They said if they did the diagnostic it would mess up the machine?? For them to send a Tech out it will cost $414 with one year maintenance or $302 for 60 day warranty. So disappointed, I might as well go buy a new one.

After one half hour on the phone with LG customer service, I left so mad I would never buy an LG product and will do anything I can to discourage anyone I know from buying one. My two thousand dollar refrigerator did not have one (the owners manual clearly states one should come with unit). But after spending more than a half hour with their customer service I still have no plug, and now can look forward to wasting even more time with Home Depot, trying to get something that should have come with the unit. If LG cant handle a problem over a 50 cent plug, think how they will react to a real problem. I owned retail stores before retiring, and would have fired any employee that handled a problem like this.

I bought my refrigerator on 3/1/2016. On 8/4/2019 the compressor goes out and I lost close to 1000$ of food. I called LG and they sent out A&E Factory service, which for one is a terrible repair service, and also sent a new compressor. A&E replace the compressor and left. The fridge then cooled for about 3 hours and then stopped. So then I called LG and they sent out another guy another week later and they said that the refrigerant had leaked out and they had no idea why. So they ordered three more parts and they came in and then another week later another repair guy came out to replace those. Oh, it was the same guy that replaced the compressor, and after that he left and said give it 24 hours, but after 3 hours it again stopped cooling. It has been three weeks since Ive been without a refrigerator now and I called again on 8/25/2019 and they still will not be able to get another person out here for another week and a half.

First the problem. 15 mins after he left the whole bottom unit came off. Called them again. I have an LG refrigerator, model # LFC2576OTT. I opened the doors to get a drink in the morning to notice that the unit was so hot. The plastic that connects the module to the inner roof (on the inside) had melted like string cheese. And lights were brown and burnt looking. It also smelled like melted plastic and electrical fire or burning wires. I just thank God that we hadnt left to go out of town yet, because the underside of the cabinet and the top of the fridge were too hot to touch. I fear it may have caught on fire. It was so hot on the top level of our fridge that the metal rings of some of our canned goods had resealed! We lost all our food and canned goods. We had already (one year prior) established a complaint about the product due to poor plastic construction of door handle hinges. After looking on-line, I saw that both of these are common problems with these refrigerators. LG should recall these refrigerators before someone gets hurt. Please someone do a class action suit, because it is apparent to me that LG is not going to take responsibility for their faulty products.

We bought model LFX31925SB/00 in 2012. Within a few weeks it started making loud sounds and by the second month, it died the first time. LG sent a repair guy and he reset it and it was fine. After about four week, it died again. This time he came back and had to replace the motherboard. I had made a couple weeks worth of meals, because I was having a baby. We came home from the hospital and the refrigerator was dead and the kitchen was FLOODED!! We lost all of our food AND had a damaged floor. I had to deal with the LG customer service, which was a waste of time. They did absolutely nothing. Then I had to call hhgregg and deal with their customer service. Im not sure which one is worse. We ended up getting a repair man ourselves, who had to replace the motherboard three times. What we thought was a good investment has ended up costing us probably five times more than what we spent buying it, counting what we lost when it died. We wouldve been better off buying the most expensive, top of the line refrigerators out there. At least then we would have something that would be worth the money we spent.

New LG Washer Never worked. Leaks and jumps around in spin cycle. This new washer has never successfully washed one load of clothes. The first time we tried to wash a load of clothes, it flooded our washroom. When it entered it spin cycle, it jumped around on the floor and hit the dryer. We contacted Home Depot (where we purchased it along with matching dryer and extended warranties). They immediately started putting us off on a repair shop, LG, and had the delivery company insurance take responsibility for the flooding. The repair shop is so busy that we were not able to get an appointment for 3 weeks. They have tried to repair this washer four times UNSUCCESSFULLY. Each time it takes two to three weeks for the next service appointment.LG does not want to bear any responsibility for producing a faulty, dangerous washer. Each time we try to speak with them they never return calls or put us off on Home Depot, who put us off on them and the Repair company. This is a new Washer that has never washed a load of clothes with an extended warranty. This has been the worst customer service experience we have ever had and the fact that it has come from two major Companies (LG and Home Depot) is really surprising. Thank God that my repairman, the Appliance Man, is smart and honest. He told me that LG was having a big problem with that refrigerator and that it was a design flaw - A defect in (on) the board and a known defect. He also told me to tell LG that it was unrepairable. Amanda ** from LG agreed to replace it.When they delivered the new one I was told that the new one would not be under warranty -??? It hasnt been a problem since although little teeny nailhead size dents appear out of nowhere. The drawers are cheaply made and all have one problem or another. We purchased a refrigerator LFX31925SW, which I thought was top of the line. 2 months shy of 3 years, the compressor went out. Of course it was out of warranty. I did call LG tech support/customer service and they gave me the phone number of an LG authorized repair company. I called, they had retired, gone out of business. I called LG back, numerous times, I even used the chat online, I was told the same thing each time, it had to be an LG repairman. We live in a small town, kind of rural, I explained to them (over and over) that I had tried for 2 weeks to find someone to come and check our refrigerator, they kept insisting that they have LG repairmen all over the country. Someone would get back to us. Well, 2 weeks after that I received a message on my phone that they would go ahead and approve the one company I was able to get a hold of to replace the compressor (the compressor has a 10-year warranty). When I spoke to the repair company they had spoken with someone at LG, but LG had not faxed the authorization. I have called LG numerous times and get a different response every time. We have now been without our refrigerator a month now. We paid 2500.00 for this fridge from Home Depot 2 and a half years ago, you would think it would last or that LG would honor their commitment. I do not see us buying LG ever again in the future.

I spent $2,000 on an LG refrigerator in October of 2016. It has not worked since April of 2018. I have made over 30 calls to LG. They have sent 4 technicians out to repair. Each technician has said it is unrepairable and sent necessary paperwork to LG for replacement. I have even submitted a report with the BBB and sent all necessary receipts for fridge and lost food like they requested for replacement and compensation for food lost. LG said they would call back within 5 days and take care of. NOTHING. I have now called 5 times in the last week and even if you get someone to answer - they ask the SAME THING give us your email address so we can send you link to a website to upload your proof of purchase. They NEVER send you an email!! Lies, lies, lies!!! They are crooks!! Their product is junk and their customer service is even worse!! Beware - NEVER buy an LG product!!

We bought the LG Steam Washer and the Steam Dryer, with pedestals in December of 2008 from Best Buy for more than $2,600. Were a retired couple, doing a maximum of 3 loads (not large) a week. 5 years later, the washer makes a horrendous noise on the spin cycle @ medium speed or higher. Some of the dryer cycles dont run as long as theyre supposed to (and the clothes are still damp). I called LG and they gave me the name of a certified LG repairman in our area, who told us that we needed a new rod and bearings for a total of more than $600. He said we were lucky it lasted this long!!! I called LG back to seek some other recourse, and a customer service person who could barely speak English said there was nothing they could do for me. I sure wish Id read the comments on this website BEFORE purchasing an LG. I will never buy another LG product.

Have this refrigerator for about 2 years and it has quit cooling twice in fridge and freezer. Getting repairs seems to be a big problem as LG says cant find technician in my area. One service provider says we will not work on LG due to complicated process and has gotten only 1 out 7 to work after replacing compressor. LG says to wait several days for them to find technician.

Literally the day I finished paying for my $2800 French Door LG refrigerator, it stopped working. At first I thought it was the ice maker. Had a repair person out who reset it and said to call back in 24 hrs if it didnt work. After 24 hrs still no luck, but now Ive started realizing that I keep throwing stuff away in my refrigerator after just a day or so because its gone bad. Finally after about 2 weeks of this, I realize that the refrigerator is not cooling, despite the 32 degrees reading on the outside temp setting.Call another repair person out after calling several that dont deal with LG because they say theyre garbage and he says he cant fix it, to call LG and ask for a courtesy one time flat rate repair. I do that, he comes out, and says its the compressor which is on back order until May 20. More than 2 weeks from now. Wonder why the part is on backorder? Maybe because its garbage and everyone seems to have the same problem? Please please please dont make the mistake of buying these products. They are absolute junk. As are Samsung as well. These are the two all the repair people Ive spoken to say to stay away from.

I purchased an LG range on 11/08. I bought the extended warranty plus 1st year warranty from LG. Problem with range reported to warranty company on 12/11. Appliance service company tried to repair on three different occasions, receiving parts from LG. The range is discontinued and the part cannot be obtained from LG. The warranty company does not want to replace as per contract to either repair or replace. I gave LG the responsibility to settle claim. LG wants to pro-rate product because they only guarantee the first year. The warranty company does not want to replace because they cant get the part from LG because this range has been discontinued. I paid $1,799 for this and I feel it should either be replaced or I should be reimbursed for the full amount.

Our LG refrigerator wasnt 3 years old and the compressor went. It was covered under a 10 year warranty through LG. 2 days after it broke a LG repairman came out and said it would be a 6 week wait for a compressor. That was unacceptable. Tried calling LG customer service a few times. And kept getting the runaround. We bought it at Best Buy. LG was telling us that Best Buy was responsible even though its on paper that the compressor is LGs responsibility. They did not want to give me what I paid for and deserved. Either a repair in a timely manner or a replacement. After 3 weeks and help from Best Buy I finally got approved for a new refrigerator. And needless to say I did not get a LG this time around. I wouldnt buy an alarm LG alarm clock.

We purchased our fridge on May 2015. Costed us about $2300. Since then we’ve had to have it repaired 6 times! I guess that pretty much sums up our experience with LG refrigerators. I waited four months for this refrigerator to be delivered from Lowes which is ridiculous to begin with. This refrigerator is so obnoxiously noisy. The compressor runs virtually non stop with a high pitch fan noise. I called LG and complained and first the rep acknowledged that the compressor should cycle down but when I said it doesnt then he said that was normal. I held the phone up to back of frig and he couldnt hear or said he couldnt hear it so theres nothing wrong. His tone was rude. This thing is torturing us with constant noise and we had a tech out who raised the front legs and now on top of high pitched compressor noise theres a loud low vibration humming. This frig is so loud it drives everyone out of the house, out of 3 rooms adjacent to refrigerator. Now we have to call Lowes to return it and we have no back up because we had them remove the old refrigerator when this new one came. WARNING: DO NOT BUY A LG REFRIGERATOR ESPECIALLY WITH LINEAR COMPRESSION!!! Its a nightmare to try and live with.

I have experienced the same as all the other consumers with their LG refrigerator pooping out after only a few years. I too am doing the waiting game for having my compressor fixed. I too have thrown out hundreds of dollars in food. All that frozen unfrozen meat right in the garbage. All the water from the ice maker going into my grout. Trying to find somebody to loan you a spare refrigerator. What I worry about now... is even using it after its fixed because what it sounds like is all these people are getting it fixed only to have it fart out and go through the same thing a month later. The company and Home Depot refuse to replace. They insist it must be repaired. This is a brand new washing machine! I was on the phone with an ‘executive customer device rep for quite a while and she could not help. I provided information including the serial and model number over a week ago. I heard back from her today saying she could not have a service authorized until she received the serial number which was not on the receipt even though this was supplied to her on the phone. Sloppy handling. Poor processes. Indifferent reps not empowered to do their job. Never will purchase an LG again!

LG will not stand behind their product. I purchased this $1,595.81 refrigerator with an extended warranty 5 years ago. In all fairness the warranty expired 4 months ago but I found out from the repair man that this was a bad model that is no longer made by LG. There is a leak in the Sealed System which is built into the chassis. LG designed a poor product. I asked for some type (any type) of a credit toward a new refrigerator. Ive never had a refrigerator (with repairs) that lasted less than 20 years. A product that last 5 years is unacceptable. Especially if was due to poor design on LGs part. I currently also have an LG Microwave, Dishwasher. Bottom line is due to poor service they have lost a customer for life.

Purchased our LG LFX28968ST French Door Fridge (SS) and spent over $2K to have the compressor stop working and we lost hundreds of dollars in food and condiments. I tried to call the authorized repair person in my area who they gave me and never received a callback. I guess I am lucky I have tile floors and did not have water damage like some people have experienced. So now that I have cleaned out my fridge I am sitting on hold with LG customer service for about 15 minutes already and they still do not have any answers. Telling me that someone will call me back in 24-48 hours, meanwhile I am sitting with an empty fridge and the closest store is 12 miles from our house to get ice (not to mention the time). So now they are sending me a form and said to send in my proof of purchase for the Fridge (which I have and will do) but they said they will extend the warranty to cover the parts and labor. We started to have problems with our brand new LG refrigerator 2 weeks after getting it home. First, it was the ice maker. We were still under warranty, and called to have it fixed. The rep said someone will be out the next day. The next day, the repair person said, I dont know why they would have told you that. I wont be able to come till next week. He came out, and said he fixed the problem and went on his way. Two months later, it was the same problem, repair scheduling and all. This repair man (when he finally came out) said, Oh, your ice maker has been broken since you bought it (wonder why the first guy didnt figure that out). He replaced it and went on his way. The outcome is we have ice but it perpetually gets jammed in the shoot and we always have to manually pull the ice out every time we want ice. Now, three years later, we are no longer under warranty, and are having major issues. The freezer is not working. It wont defrost and ice was building up. I called LG. The rep said $95 over the phone just to tell me what the problem is (I know what the problem is, I want to know how to fix it. I read the book and the error message on the control panel on the door says defrost problems). They will not give me any information without paying for it first. We decided not to deal with them anymore and called our local appliance repairman (nice guy). Yes, our 3-year old refrigerator needed to be taken apart and defrosted. The control panel had gone out and inadvertently kept it from defrosting. The control panel is $300 plus the cost of the house call. According to the repair man, 99% of repair calls on LG refrigerators are the control panel. When will the United States stop allowing poor quality appliance in this country?

Barbara of Mountain View, NY, I couldnt agree with you more. I also had to deal with Willie at LG! The stove was part of my kitchen remodel. Within its first year, the entire motherboard had to be replaced only after they tried to replace a segment of the board only. While the repairman is installing the new board, he notices the oven door has unnoticeably come out of its frame at the bottom and decides to tighten it and alert us to that fact. In its 3rd year, while baking, all we heard from the next room was glass exploding then glass raining onto my new hardwood floor. After picking up our jaws in disbelief, we quickly snapped several pics of the damage and sent it to LG along with the original sales receipt. At first they wouldnt pay for an investigator to come out but then did so. The investigator turned out to be some subcontractor Joe Schmo who took 2 pics and then left only for Willie to tell me that the board had decided that this was not the fault of the stove but mine! We were left just completely disgusted by their demeanor and their so-called internal investigation with their engineers, not to mention their lack of concern that anyone could have been hurt. So LG products of any sort are now on our boycott list.

My home warranty company TotalProtect Home Warranty (Cross Country Home Services) came out to repair our washer. They discovered an LG Recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and refused to make repairs because it was under recall. So, LG was responsible for repairing it. The recall stated the washer becomes unbalanced and causes personal injury and property damage. Luckily my washer just broke. It has been 3 months and multiple LG repair companies later and LG has not repaired our washer. Every LG service company that we called or came out to make repairs claims they cant repair it, LG did not authorize repairs, or the recall did not cause the damage. LGs customer service (800-243-0000) promised they would make repairs and they gave me a CNM # and APM # that supposedly authorized the repairs. I even filed an ethics complaint with LGs company HQ. I heard nothing back. The recalled washer is product number WT5101HV. LG gives you the runaround and frustrates you so you give up.

By the way, one of the knobs that did not break had a metal strip around it, to reinforce the plastic. I have had four repairmen come out to work on this refrigerator. It has had a new computer board and compressor installed---and STILL does not cool like a refrigerator should. After the most recent install of those components, the LED light stopped working in the refrigerator. I started to look for the part to replace it--but did a diagnostic test on the refrigerator. Sure enough, the light came on again? A day later, the light went off. Did another diagnostic reset, and the light works again. Long story short, this refrigerator has become a nuisance. I have a now ten-year old LMX25964 ST Refrigerator made by LG. It is a French door version with two pullout freezers underneath. It has worked flawlessly with one exception. The hinge wore out on the right side. Theres just a piece of Delrin plastic that rides on the hinge. I started seeing powder from the metal grinding for like two years before I realized what was going on. Maybe I put too much weight on that door. I now store the milk on the solid shelf off the door. It cost me about an hour looking at YouTube to figure out how to fix it and around $20 in parts. The fix process went surprisingly well. I had predicted a disaster. Door came off easily as did the old hinge. I draped a towel in front while the power was off to retain the cool. In the old days we used to put the old fridge out in the garage after the remodel where it cooled beer for 20 more years. Those days are gone. I have a LG washer dryer combo that was very high end at the time of purchase. They have performed perfectly for ten years now. My LG dishwasher went bad two months after the warranty ran out. I took it apart, took one look and put it back together. Whatever I did it must have reset the circuit board or something. Works fine now.

Bought LG dishwasher from Home Depot July 2020. Delivered in 9/2020, due to Covid. Tried to make it work in two of our family homes, multiple calls to service techs. Gave me a repair reference number, which eventually revealed that no LG service tech services in our area, and no local repair was found when LG looked for one. I have a new service number now, and twice they have said it will be 7 to 10 days before I know if I will get a refund. It is still under warranty. Stalling is just unbelievable. One time they said the Power Service Team would decide, now it has been given to Defective Returns Department. I do NOT want another one, if no one can service it even with a warranty.I sent an email to their CEO at LG. If I dont get my refund (sent all paperwork 2 times) I am going to ask consumer media TV people to publicly help me. Ive had my LX228968SB 26.8 cu ft 3 door french door for 4.5 years and it has maybe worked right for 1.5 years... Have had 3 service tickets and the compressor was just replaced 6 months ago and is out again and so I have been without a fridge now for over 2 weeks, during the hottest time of the year and Ill just say it, LG doesnt care. Working with LG customer service has literally been the worst experience Ive had with any company, EVER!!! I cannot even begin to explain on how bad and unhelpful they are or how many times Ive waited on hold only to get dropped (it literally just happened) or transferred and dropped. This is one of my favorites. When I called in several weeks ago to set up an appointment, they said that Id be contacted with 48 hours... Well, after 57 hours I reached back out and they told me since they couldnt find anyone to repair my fridge, they cancelled my appointment, when I asked them when they were going to tell me?.... Crickets. Then I tried to reschedule and they said they get 3-5 more days to do that, excuse me, what??? I am currently trying to get a refund on my fridge and hopefully some of the $1K worth of food I had to throw or give away... Fun fact; LG only does up to $300 and if you fill out one question wrong on their form it tells you that you arent eligible and it locks you out, awesome, right??? Bottom line, quality, at least on their refrigerators is awful (class action lawsuit out against them on their compressors) but customer service is even worse, NEVER buy LG or pray you never need to contact customer service.

Updated on 11/13/2019: Another 2 days have gone by and it is 4 pm and the LG service people have not shown up again. Consumer Affairs keeps say there are holding things up due to the fact they cannot find our refrigerator by the serial number. I would like to take a picture of it, but they don’t tell me where to send it. My husband send a copy of our receipt over a week ago, but that doesn’t seem to be enough! We have been without a refrigerator since October 3rd- guess my next step is The Better Business Bureau. Every day they promise something it it never seems to happen. I lost over $400 in food plus 6 weeks of eating out. My house is up for sale and how do you think a non-working refrigerator looks to people looking at our house! LG Service is the worst.Updated on 11/11/2019: This is a follow up to a previous review.... After 6 weeks without a refrigerator we were scheduled service for the 3rd time, today between 1& 5- took off of work again (they told us this would be a 3 hour repair) and guess what they call us at 1:30 to cancel our appt for today! Will never buy another LG product just because their set ice is so bad!Original Review: On October 3rd, I called for Service on my LG refrigerator- they did some sort of scan from my phone and told me the refrigerator was fine and I must have left the door ajar and that is why things were warm and ice was melting. I was told to unplug my refrigerator for about 15 minutes, plug it back in and keep door closed for at least 6 hours and I should be fine. I went to bed, got up the next morning and everything in my freezer was thawed and refrigerator was warm, so needless to say I had to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of food.I called again, they wanted to send a repairman out the following Monday and not before, well we were leaving town Sunday for my son’s wedding. Service was then scheduled for October 18th. When they came on the 18th I was told I needed a new compressor on my 3 year old refrigerator which was still under warranty. But it would take them 10 days to get the parts. Service was set up for October 28th between 8 and 12 and I was told it may take 3 hours, so I took the day off of work.Well, the 28th comes but only 2 of 3 parts had been delivered, so they did not come. Then it was rescheduled for today 10/30, but parts still are not in....after many phone calls and not getting any real answers - we have asked for a new refrigerator they say you have to have 3 service calls for the same complaint or if they can’t get the parts from 30 days after service call. Well even though we called on 10/3, the 30 days starts on 10/18 when the service man actually came to our house. So, apparently we have to wait now til 11/18 if the part doesn’t come in - that is 6 weeks without a refrigerator. I will never buy LG again!

Purchased this top load LG washer 4 years ago. Problems with the performance: Takes too long to do a small or medium load. Washer does not balance the load. Sheets and other large items cover the smaller clothes and they never get clean. Machine Quality. Washer LID BROKE APART for no reason. Will not close at all now which means I cannot use the machine. I contacted LG and complained gave me a case #. Never called me back. When I contacted them they said that the warranty was only for a year. Had to order a new LID for $200 which I have not received yet. Not sure if the expense for the LID was a good idea. The problem will most likely happen again. $700 for this machine was a WASTE of hard earned money. WILL NEVER BUY ANY LG PRODUCT AGAIN.

We purchased this fridge almost 1 year ago. Two time the water/ice dispenser has failed. The water and ice will start running without being able to turn them off to where you have to unplug the fridge till a repair person comes to replace the part. Both times I had to call LG for service. Both times their technician did not show up on scheduled day. I wasted 2 days off work with not getting any help from LG. Do not expect anything from LG customer service. I have 4 different claim # for food reimbursement that keep changing and now been told they denied the claim.

Issue: The refrigerator (French door LFXS30766S) broke down on 7/4/2018, just couple days after two years warranty. Find out it’s “sealed system” issue and this is still covered by LG for five years. Called LG and reported the issue on 7/6/2018, they have created ticket and mentioned that they will find the technician and assign it. How many days since then? One month now. Technician is yet to come my home and look into issue. In between, I have called so many times to LG, each time their answer is standard, they are still trying to find the technician and escalating the ticket or creates new ticket, which is nothing but their excuse to tell customer to wait for 3-5 business days. I wonder why no technician wants to work with LG, whoever I talked to they either says they are two far away from my destination or they don’t work with LG. I have even asked LG if they can assign work order to “Sears home service” they are reliable and guarantee they will come, but LG says it is not possible for them to assign the work order to Sears. Why? No idea. After so many phone calls and many tickets where are we? Nowhere near the resolution. I wouldn’t recommend LG product anymore. Settlement that I am looking: LG assign reliable tech which I can count on or refund the money.

I actually have had good experiences with LG products and have always thought the brand is not only dependable but is just as contemporary as other much higher price. Also the features are good and innovative that seems to be getting even better all time. It was kinda wide and for being so wide I thought it couldve had more compartments. Just me but, I dont like that some foods are not separated from other because of smells and foods that are more pungent or eaten more quickly. Overall it was a good refrigerator for eight years that I owned and used it. For one thing the barrier that keeps condiments and such from falling out when the refrigerator was opened. When I cleaned it the compartments were easy to remove and easy to put back in. I only had to replace a couple of bulbs as far as any maintenance is concerned. Very dependable I would say. I sold the refrigerator after having it for the few years. I mentioned to a friend who bought it for his daughter and as far as I know she is still using it.

I have purchased LG front load inverter direct drive 7.5 kg 6 motion washing machine. Although it was quite expensive for me but sales man succeeded to give me belief that it is the best model. After finishing warranty period that is 2 years and after exactly 2 years and 8-9 months machine is giving error. We had register complaint then 4 to 5 times their different technicians came telling various problem. And at last they found but spare parts are so costly so I will not suggest this w.m. for ordinary people who cant afford this regular maintenance of around 2000. If small part is also damage you have to take whole unit e.g. PCB harness for one part of filter PCB. It is really not affordable. Company should provide those small parts instead of insisting customer to buy whole units.

I have an LG dishwasher, stove, refrig and microwave in my kitchen. The stove, I love... The frig, I like. The microwave really works well. The only thing I would like to have that it dont is a quick min button. My other unit that was the button that we used 9 times out of 10. The dishwasher on the other hand, I have hate for. First of all, it never gets my dishes clean. It takes 2 hours to run and it doesnt get any of the dishes clean in that time. (JUST AN FYI... THE ENERGY SAVERS IS NOT ENERGY SAVING FOR THE CONSUMER... MIGHT WANNA DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THAT ONE) BUT ANYWAY...The LG dishwasher dont even rinse the dish soap off its own door. It is by far the worst dishwasher that I have ever had and I really dont have time to do dishes, thats why I have a dishwasher. My LG dishwasher has a lovely chime and thats all its good for. I have stuck a slice of cardboard in there with my dishes to see if it would even get wet... It had a few spots on it and it was a little damp from the high humidity during the disinfecting cycle (that by the way is so hot that I have had a couple of ceramic cups crack in half from the extreme heat). Second... be careful if you have one of these LG dishwashers because I opened it and let the door fall to its resting place so I could load it and the handle landed on the top of my foot and I had a large hematoma that turned black and blue covering the entire top of my foot for weeks from having it land on my foot. I thought it was broke to be honest. The thing is Im grown and life is hard enough to deal with manufacturers taking advantage of consumers by selling them products that dont work at all. Surely they did test on these and knew that they were unable to clean dishes. The thing is I use to love LG. Ive had several of their flat screens and of course I did my entire kitchen in LG... But for them to know that they made a shoddy product and not do right by the people that supported them by replacing the metal chimney boxes they sold us instead of dishwashers makes me sad... Ive spent months of my hard earned income on their products and to be swindled like this by them makes me so sad that even though I love their other products, I wont be supporting their company brand any longer. Its a warning... If you want clean dishes, do your kitchen with another brand!

I purchased brand new appliances in 2016 with them being delivered in spurts due to back orders. The dishwasher Model LDT9965bd was delivered on January 30, 2016 and not installed for a few weeks later. These are top of the line LG projects in black ice. I noticed the finish deterioration on the left side on 2/7/17 so I contacted ABC Warehouse on 2/7/17 and my salesman referred me to their LG customer service. I call the next morning and they refer me to LG directly because they say the warranty was up on January 30, 2017. I did not purchase an extended warranty on this item like I did my fridge and stove. Upon sending my photos she asks me how I clean it. I dont use product on the item and only wipe with a damp dish towel on top where the buttons are. To be honest the dishwasher does not need that much cleaning on the outside (sounds accusatory to me). She proceeds to tell me to call service repair and provided me a local number that I have not called as it will be a cost to me for them to come out. The finish on my black ice dishwater is coming off around the handle on both sides and I have only had it installed since late February 2016. I told her to forget it that I would take this up with my sales rep. At this point I would not recommend LG products if this does not get addressed at no charge. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I will not stop until this is fixed at their expense since I spent $1,000 on this item. I thought I was buying quality.Updated on 11/29/2017: Here we go again with the same issue Im going to complain about again. The black ice finish is coming off near the left handle of the dishwasher as I noticed last night. The skin was replaced last year on 2/11/17 and its now almost 10 months later and its happening again. I will again, make some calls to get someone out to replace this at their expense on this expensive item. By the way, I agree with a lot of the complaints about the LG dishwashers. They do not clean well and I hate everything about the inside. Tines to thin, dishes fall over, not cleaned well etc... I miss my old stuff and it was not even broken. I had purchased all new since I had to replace my fridge. The saga will continue.

LG is more reliable and durable than many other brands and offers me what I want. It has met my initial expectations but Im hoping for more in the future in all honesty. I like that there are premium capabilities that allow me to have different set ups and it makes me excited to be able to use the refrigerator everyday. I would want the refrigerator to be used well and have an ice machine that is quality. Some other brands may be a little bit more aesthetically attractive though in a sense.

We bought an LG Front loading washer and dryer from Sears about 1 1/2 years ago. We immediately encountered sporadic occurrences of what looks like oil streaks from the washer. We called Sears and they sent someone out, who replaced the tub and some other items, and also told us to use a different kind of detergent. A few months and a few ruined items of clothing later, we called Sears again and they sent someone out who replaced a bunch of stuff again. They then sold us an extended warranty on the washer. We thought Sears sold it to us, but it turns out we bought it from LG. So the problem has continued and weve called LG, who is telling us that our complaint doesnt fall under the terms of the warranty, that we are complaining about cosmetic outcomes of the laundry. Crazy us, expecting a brand new washer to clean our clothes and not leave grease streaks. They have been horrible to work with. They are offering to refund the warranty which, of course, allows them to walk away from us completely. I guess well need to try and get Sears back involved, as technically we brought this to their attention under the original warranty, and it never was resolved. If you are considering buying LG, I hope you have better luck than weve had. I will never buy another product that says LG on it.

If I could’ve given this zero stars I would’ve. I bought this LG (Life is Good) top loader washing machine and LG Dryer because my old dryer finally broke after 10 years of usage. My previous washing Machine worked fine but the wife wanted the new LG dryer to match a new LG washing machine. So we bought the set. After maybe 4-5 years I noticed some rust on the inside of the body of the washer. Well that rust spot got bigger and more rust spots began to pop up. After many failed attempts with LG customer service and their service technician in my area the end results were that they would not repair or replace the washer. It is considered a cosmetic issue. The rust has dropped into the washer with the clean clothes defeating the purpose of cleaning the clothes. It now has become a hassle pulling the so called clean clothes out of the washer without touching the sides or the top because it’s all rusty. I’ve sent LG pictures of the rust at their request with no response. During the time of purchase we also bought other LG appliances. I’ve had problems with their microwave, stove, dishwasher and refrigerator. My older appliances I had that were much less expensive outlasted the very expensive LG CRAP I bought. Don’t buy LG!!

LG WT1101CW - Bought new just over 1 1/2 years. It worked fine for over a year and now it cannot complete a load without stopping because it is out of balance. Had a repairman check it out and he stated that LG said it needed the new update control board at a cost of over $500.00 before he could even diagnose problems. This is almost as much as a new machine. Obviously they are aware of a problem if the main control board is already being updated. The repairman said he could not guarantee that this would fix the problem. This machine is horrible. Contacted LG customer service and they could not diagnose using their phone diagnostic system. They stated they could give us a repair company name and stated the machine was out of warranty.

I purchased a higher end LG double oven gas range. It is made poorly using cheap and thin material. They used a silver film for the knobs to give the appearance of stainless steel. I didn’t even realize a metal looking film was used on the knobs until it started bubbling after a few uses. A year and a half later the bottom oven displays an F19 code. An LG technician replaced the harness and the ignition. 2 years later the exact same issue happens. I contacted LG and they do offer warranties for faulty products. Their products are awful especially for what you pay. There are so many other brands who provide quality products at a reasonable price and stand behind their products. I will never purchase LG products again and DO NOT RECOMMEND their products especially their ranges, refrigerators and dishwashers. They all begin to have issues and fall apart within 2 years and you will have to keep having them repaired around every 2 years.

BUYER BEWARE. LG is the worst appliance brand to ever purchase. Please avoid getting anything from them, as I have had the worst experience with their customer service and major appliance I purchased from them. I purchased my refrigerator from hhgregg (which is now out of business, my luck) about 4 years ago. Maybe within a month of this huge investment, we started to have issues with the ice machine. We have had service call numerous times over the ice machine, which is quite shocking all for a simple standard feature on a refrigerator. Thank God we were still under warranty for the ice maker replacements, and even still after the repairs, we continued to have issues with the ice machine. After hhgregg went out of business, so did our warranty servicing. Then, about a month ago, the compressor went out. Thinking that LG would stand by their products and offer servicing, that was not the case. From reading past postings, they are completely aware of the problems with the compressor failing on this model. They had a technician come out who confirmed that the compressor went out and to fix would be $$$$ (costly), and offer a 90-day warranty. The technician recommended that it wasn’t worth it and to go with a completely different brand! I was in complete shock! However, I truly appreciated his honesty, since it confirms that LG dont stand behind their products. Such a huge waste of money and disappointment. So, unless you have money to throw away, stay away from LG refrigerators. MODEL: LFX31925ST.

Special ordered a large LG refrigerator on the recommendation from the salesman from Home Depot. The outside of the refrigerator dents with just the push of your finger. Its only 6 years old. A refrigerator should last longer than this. Flapper between the french doors quit working, so you manually have to close this before you can close the doors. I purchased my new LG French 3 door refrigerator March 2016. The product worked fine for 3 years (almost to the day) until the compressor failed. LG sent a repairman from a appliance repair company affiliated with LG, and replaced the compressor (LG paid for the replacement, I paid to replace all the spoiled groceries). This compressor lasted only 6 months! Again LG sent a repairman and replaced the compressor. (LG paid for the replacement, I paid to replace all the spoiled groceries). The 3rd compressor has now lasted only 1 month!!!!! LG has just scheduled another repairman to come this Monday. This will be the 4th compressor in 3.5 years of the life of this refrigerator. LG has a responsibility at this point to replace this appliance. This is a refrigerator that cost several thousands of dollars and LG markets how long their appliances last but based on their online reviews and lawsuits, over compressors, this is not the case. New compressors are clearly a short-lived band-aid to what is clearly a bigger problem and this product is no longer worth the dollars and aggravation spent dealing with it.

I purchased an LG Easy Clean microwave in 2014. The unit wasn’t exactly cheap but I figured I’d invest in a better quality unit. Recently (2018) I noticed the smell of burning and sparking coming from the unit. I opened the door and noticed that the inside lower left corner was physically melted??? I have never experienced anything like this with any other microwave in my life. Obviously I felt this was a safety issue and an obviously defective microwave.I called LG and jumped through all their hoops, providing them photos etc. They were supposed to call me back (they didn’t). When I called back I was told that they only offer a 1 yr warranty and the fact that I got 4 yrs out of it was good. Umm, a melted door is good??? Long story short, LG told me I can try to find someone to repair it but it will be costly and recommended I buy a new one. Yup, after only 4 yrs. I asked if a “MELTED DOOR” was particularly concerning to LG? He said no, it’s 4 years old. Umm, well I guess it had a good run in LG’s eyes. I’ll never buy from LG or any affiliate again. WOW!??

Ive purchased many LG appliances over the years and have had good experiences. Last year I purchased an LG Refrigerator #LFX25991ST french door model. A month or so after the 1 year warranty expired, the handle on the crisper broke in my hand. After calling customer service and describing my issue, I was told to go buy the replacement and that was that. Last year I spent over $10K in LG products and getting that response totally blew my mind. I spoke with a customer service rep who was totally polite and helpful but couldnt resolve my problem. He referred me to Brenda, his Supervisor. Brenda was the most arrogant, useless individual I have ever encountered. She told me to write a letter to the complaint department. She was able to recite the address very quickly. That may give anyone a clue! Dont buy their products.

The worst dishwasher ever! I have had a 20-year-old cheap dishwashers leave my dishes sparkling clean. This thing ($699.00) left coffee rings and dull film on dishes. Yes, I do rinse dishes before I run the dishwasher and the cycle time length is very long! Just replaced it with a Maytag. Hope to have better results! The installer is here right now.

After less than a year began having OE error codes appear and dishwasher stopping in mid-cycle. Did diagnostic over phone with LG and said it was probably pump. Read reviews and saw some who said they replaced pump, control board and no better. I used shop vac to suck out water, then took long time balancing dishwasher, then re-routed drain pipe up high, instead of cabinet floor. Has worked since with only filter cleaning every few loads. Still a horrible machine, but working for now. Hope this helps. Good luck. Next purchase I will read ALL reviews before buying.

Since this LG Dryer, DLEX4370K, was purchased in April 2020, the lint screen pops up around half an inch on the right side while the dryer is running. This has damaged several pieces of clothing beyond repair. I removed the screen assembly from the dryer to inspect it. There is no damage or lint. Even outside of the dryer, the lint screen moves in the same manner and does not stay seated in the holder. This implies that either the lint screen or screen holder came to me defective.
