KitchenAid 30 free standing gas range with double oven bought. Beautiful to look at BUT! Have had less than a month and many problems. First gas leaks (they were repaired). My one time to use: baked an apple pie in bottom oven. Preheated to 450, baked pie for 15, then reduced to 350 for 45 minutes. During this time the vent blew so hard on top right burners, it got the top range very hot and impossible to use right burners (vent blew the flames... dangerous). Also top right side got extremely hot... not operating correctly at all. Now dealing with Whirlpool Corp Safety Dept to get them to take this range back... scares me to even think about using it... NOT using it... it is a lemon!!! They say must process/have evaluation by technician and then 3 to 4 weeks to process. BS!!! The order # is the no. with Whirlpool Corp Safety Dept. 553 Benson Road, Benson Harbor, Michigan 49022.

I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator in 2013, stainless steel model #KFIS29BBMSOO. Ive had numerous problems with it, many service calls. The first was the hose in the freezer splitting, which took 5 service calls to figure out, costing me for each one. Finally they said it was a recall item and I should not have had to pay. It was difficult to get my money back from the service people, took months. Now there is ice building up behind the drawers in the refrigerator, blocking the vent. There is about 2 of ice built up so the drawers do not close completely. Everything in the drawers freezes. When I called repair people suggested by Whirlpool. As soon as they heard the model number they refused to come. I called Whirlpool again, they said they have never heard of any problems like this, however, when I read all of the reviews listed here there are a lot of problems with these refrigerators. The repair guys said KitchenAid is one of the worst brands now, made so poorly, but so expensive. They finally found me a repairman, he is about 5 hours away, I told them he is not close, they said he probably knows someone closer to me, however the call is from 8:00-5:00, I have to wait. This has been so frustrating. I purchased 7 appliances at the same time, I did a remodel on my kitchen. My dishwasher failed after one year, the motor actually fell on the floor, it slow leaked onto my wood floors doing $40,000. damage, cabinets had to be pulled out walls repaired, took 5 months. KitchenAid would do nothing. The motor was not installed right at the factory, they tried to blame it on the installers. Im fed up with KitchenAid, would never recommend it to anyone. I just cant believe they dont worry about their reputation.

I am writing on behalf of my elderly mother. She purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher from Sears in July 2013 Model KUDL15SXWH5. After two years it leaked water all over the carpet and floor. The problem was the motor and clamp fell right out of the dishwasher. Sears said warranty is over. The repairs will be $300-$500. This is unsatisfactory. She should get a new machine or the repairs no charge from Sears and they should go after KitchenAid. Apparently there are a lot of unhappy customers and no way to contact KitchenAid!

I bought a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher 3 years ago and have had nothing but trouble. It has been repaired 4 times for the door popping open during a dishwashing cycle. Now the insulation has fallen out of the door and leaks a constant stream of water on the floor. The repair has been scheduled for a week from when I reported it. Nice sense of urgency and customer centric company. I wouldn’t buy a kitchenaid appliance.

The refrigerator was in the house that we bought. It looked very nice and we were excited to have it. It is only 5 years old. It started making a horrible noise constantly. The repairman found the problem, but couldnt just buy the part needed. We had to buy a kit that costs $269 and $34 to ship!!! I already spent $99 for the repairman to show up once. Now I will have to pay him $99 again, plus labor. Never buy a KitchenAid anything!!!

We bought our home in May 2011 with a one-year old KitchenAid oven. Last week, I used the self cleaning cycle for the first time. The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. It was covered with an oven tray so we did not see it but I now suspect that this was also due to a fault in the stove/heating. We have two KitchenAid ovens!

We purchased our gas oven/stove two years ago and I am so worried that we are going to have a gas poisoning or explosion in our home. The knobs are very easily turned on. You can brush up against it and you wont even know until later on when you smell the horrible scent of gas. I was cleaning my stove earlier this morning and came back inside the house and I knew right away that the smell was gas and sure enough the knob was ever so lightly turned to the left and emitting gas fumes. Im not sure if there is a recall so this is my first step.

I filled out a complaint on 10/11/11. The repairman was at my house and replaced the motor on my 7-month-old dishwasher after waiting 3 weeks to get it repaired. It is now 10/21/11 and it broke again today. It was the same problem as last time, so I assume it needs a new motor again. I have to wait another 12 days just to get a service person to come out and look at it. Ill then be at over a month with a non-working brand new dishwasher in a 7-month period.

We bought last July KitchenAid refrigerator. Seven months later we could see some issue with discoloration of the bottom door. I contacted KitchenAid service, they explained, the cosmetic of the surface is not under the warranty. I have extended 5-years warranty, but it is not cover cosmetic issue. We bought this refrigerator in Best Buy, but nobody explained about this type of issue. KitchenAid service can change this door if I will pay $500. I believe I paid a lot for this refrigerator and I am not going to pay $500 for factory non quality product.

Extremely dissatisfied with the KitchenAid product, warranty and customer service. I contacted them Feb. 5th 2015 to inquire as to the procedure to resolve an issue with the door of my microwave not opening. After a considerable time of answering questions, I was told that my unit was no longer covered under warranty. I then expressed the following info to the KitchenAid representative and offered copies of documentation:1/31/2014: Ordered 1/31/2014: Deposit $5412.50 4/22/2014: $3252.91 final pay 5/15/2014: Appliances delivered 1/16/2015: Moved in 1/19/2015: Microwave installed by Vassar Electric 2/05/2015: Door would not openYour representative stated that it did not matter, KitchenAid’s warranty is based on date of purchase (1/31/2014), not date of deliver (May 15, 2014) or the date of installation (1/19/2015). We were told by C&D Appliance that we had a deadline to order or the price would go up. We explained to them that we would not need the appliances for several months as the house was under total remodel. They said no problem as they would store them until we were ready so all the appliances were ordered at the same time and stored at C&D Appliance warehouse. We get a call one day that they needed to deliver the appliances as they need more room in their warehouse so we stored them in our shop area. Little did we know at the time of purchase that the warranties started on the day we ordered them which was also the date of invoice. It cost me $660.33 to use the microwave for 21 days. I also have no warranty on the KitchenAid dishwasher, the Jenn-Air cook stove and the Jenn-Air refrigerator, all of which are product lines of the Whirlpool Corporation. Adding insult to injury, I filed a product review with KitchenAid that they REFUSED to post!

My four year old Kitchen Aid dishwasher (model kudko31twh2) has been a headache. Numerous calls for leaks has not fixed the problem through Bestbuy extended warranty companies. Now, my new kitchen floor is damaged, and this past Saturday, Feb 18, the machine gave off a burning smell. I had to remove the machine from the premises, due to the smell, and felt compelled to purchase a new dishwasher, even though there is still time left on my extended warranty. I am very angry and frustrated that Kitchen Aid said it is Best Buys problem, and not theirs. They might be right, but they should stand behind their products better.

Appliances purchased by Mr. Kim **: Appliance Model No., Serial No., Cost Purchase Date, and Purchase Location Stainless Fridge KFIS20XVMS8 K13211668 $3039.07 9/20/11 Lowes (Saugus, MA) Stainless Range KDSS907SSS04 D11549850 $1889.95 11/12/11 Tri-City Sales (Salem, MA) Stainless Dishwasher KVDS301XSS4 F13511903 $809.95 11/12/11 Tri-City Sales (Salem, MA)Stainless Microwave KHMS2040W $584.32 12/18/11 Tri-City Sales (Salem, MA)I have been retained by Mr. Kim ** to retain him regarding his claims against KitchenAid relative to the above-referenced appliance purchases. Following Mr. **’s purchases of these appliances, all stainless steel Whirlpool branded appliances, rust quickly formed on the stainless steel facades. Mr. ** first reported the rust-damage to Tri-City Sales (262 Highland Avenue, Salem MA 01970) in July 2012. Tri-City arranged for L.A.R. Appliance Service (103 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA) to visit on 01/08/12 and inspect the appliances. (Apparently L.A.R. is subcontracted by Whirlpool to do local service visits.) The L.A.R. service technician told Mr. ** and his wife that he would order a complimentary replacement door for the range. However, upon noticing that multiple appliance doors had rust damage and were in need of replacement, the technician telephoned his office for advice, and was in turn referred by telephone to Whirlpool’s corporate representative who instructed him to refuse repair/replacement of Mr. **’s rusted new appliances. The L.A.R. tech informed Mr. ** that Whirlpool instructed that because the damage was cosmetic, it would be denied warranty coverage. He thereafter gave Mr. ** Whirlpool’s customer service telephone number, 800-422-1230. Mr. ** called the number immediately. After an extended wait, an incoming telephone call handler answered. Mr. ** explained that he had purchased these appliances to furnish a new kitchen and had simultaneously purchased a washer and dryer also manufactured by Whirlpool, which had a white rather than stainless finish and had sustained no such similar damage. Mr. ** stated that apart from the function of the appliance, the stainless finish was an aesthetic part of the design and therefore an integral part of the product which had failed by rusting. Mr. ** received in return a long winded reply amounting to a nominal apology, thanks for the feedback, and a statement that the rust damage is not Whirlpool’s problem and that all warranty coverage of this issue would be denied and Whirlpool would do nothing to cure Mr. **’s dissatisfaction.Mr. ** asked to speak with a supervisor, and was eventually transferred to one. The supervisor suggested a special “cleaner” that replaced “the lost oil” (to which he apparently by analysis over the telephone attributed the rust damage) and stated that provision of this cleaner is all Whirlpool is willing to do to address Mr. **’s concern about his new rusted appliances. Mr. ** explained that if oil had indeed been lost, and so rust damage was commenced, then the products were defective. Mr. ** rejected the customer service supervisor’s offer of a bottle of cleaner to repair his $6,000+ worth of rusted appliances, repeated his points of concern, and made a plea of his loyalty to the Whirlpool brand and requested that the company’s customer service team answer his concerns, and resolve this matter amicably. The supervisor again rejected his pleas but this time curiously modified the rejection with “at this point.”It is not clear what point Mr. ** has to get to in order for Whirlpool and/or KitchenAid to agree that it is not reasonable to expect customers to endure a home full of rusted appliances approximately half a year after new purchase. However, at this point, Mr. ** is disappointed that the warranty for these items has been repudiated and that KitchenAid/Whirlpool refuse to stand behind their products. While Mr. ** and his family were willing at the time of the service visit and telephone calls to accept replacement of the doors to these appliances (perhaps with a facade other than Whirlpool’s stainless steel), due to the stonewalling the company has subjected him to, he has retained me to defend his rights in this matter.Mr. ** did not receive any clear and conspicuous warning prior to purchase of these expensive appliances of an obvious substantial risk of rust damage to Stainless Whirlpool appliances. Nor are any such warnings included in advertisements for Whirlpool Stainless steel appliances. Were any such warnings made clear to Mr. **, he would not have made these expensive purchases. Accordingly, KitchenAid/Whirlpool’s policy regarding the concealment of the significant risk of rust damage (of which service technicians and customer service representatives have clearly been aware) constitutes a deceptive trade practice. In KitchenAid/Whirlpool’s failure to honor it’s warranty or to reasonably address Mr. **’s concerns, the company has committed breaches of warranty, the federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, the Uniform Commercial Code, Massachusetts’ lemon law, and unfair business practices and other consumer protection laws. Accordingly, Mr. ** demands that his appliances be repurchased. Besides being sent directly to you, this letter is being submitted to the Better Business Bureau and to other Consumer Protection sites. Additionally, if swift action is not taken to repurchase these appliances, Mr. ** has instructed me to take all action necessary to enforce his rights including without limitation the filing of a lawsuit. Should this action become necessary, I will seek on Mr. **’s behalf all rights and remedy’s afforded to him by the law, including the payment of attorney’s fees and civil penalties for willful violation of consumer protection laws as may be appropriate. We hope for a swift resolution of this matter without the need to enforce the law and ask for a response to this claim within the next fifteen (15) days.

Love the fridge, but after two years freezer started to fill with ice. Determined it was a clogged drain line which is a design flaw. Happens often enough that there is a YouTube video to correct problem. Still have to pay for service call. Learned that nothing has been done to correct the problem. Really? Would cost next to nothing to correct. Now a $22 replacement part is available to fix. Cost me $100. I had already figured out problem, emptied fridge and defrosted - otherwise would have been more expensive.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

Dont you know that the oven shut down, and door is locked, and control panel is dead? I contacted KA to see what their remedy was. They are sending out a repairman, but will only cover parts, not labor. I was ticked off. I had a turkey to cook for Christmas and visitors are coming to stay for a week. It’s completely absurd to not have an oven to use. I asked the guy on the phone if there had been other issues reported on the same self-clean issue. He said no. Then he said that he didnt have access to personal records. Which is it? I am totally in for a class action suit as well. I’m waiting for a technician. It’s way to expensive of an appliance to have a repair 3 years later.

Goldstar and KitchenAid are aware of this design defect with knobs overheating. Goldstar and KitchenAid refuse to do anything about this matter. I purchase a KitchenAid Built-in Microwave Model KMBS104ESS02 in 2017. In January of 2020 it wasnt heating and of course our warranty was no longer valid. My husband has worked on microwaves before. He tested the Magnetron, Diode and High Voltage Capacitor and purchased all three new and installed in March of 2020. It worked for approximately 1 1/2 months and went again. He purchased the same parts again on May 20, 2020 costing another $263.27 totalling $526.54 to repair. This lasted through June. He called KitchenAid and was told that it is probably the motherboard and too expensive to replace just get rid of it. So we paid approximately $1,000.00 for the microwave new and spent $526.54 on repairing totalling $1,526.54 and was told to get rid of it. Great customer service response. My husband was so upset he threw it out and purchased a new Frigidaire for 1/3 the cost of the Kitchenaid. How sad is that. I am attaching one of the receipts from May 20,2020 cannot find other receipt. My husband pick up parts from Appliance Parts in Old Bridge NJ in March.

They first replaced the cooling fan and the noise continued. They then came out and replaced the convection fan and the noise continued. They came out again and tightened all screws and sheet metal. They now want to replace all of the racks but it still vibrated without the racks. Still an issue so their the last response is to send another service company out to get a second opinion. So dissatisfied with my Whisper Quiet + dishwasher that I sought out this forum to warn others not to purchase a Kitchenaid. We have owned this dishwasher for quite some time, and while it has been relatively trouble-free with regard to repair issues... it does not clean dishes! The ancient, used dishwasher previously owned offered far superior cleansing than this model EVER has. Tonight we are again pulling dishes from the machine to hand wash them, and this has been the norm since its installation. Such a disappointment... we used to think Kitchenaid products were high quality. I own 2 mixers which are great. This dishwasher is terrible (as was a pricey Kitchenaid blender we subsequently gave away). We have followed all recommendations offered for best operation to no avail. If I could afford to replace this model... I would in a heartbeat (widowed). Another deficiency is the long run time. A washing cycle takes well over an hour, and afterward most of the contents still require hand washing. Needless to say, when I can replace this machine it will not be with a Kitchenaid.

Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

We purchased all KitchenAid appliances when we built our house in May 2010, after being told that they were top-of-the-line. Regarding our refrigerator (model KBFS25EVMS2) with French doors and freezer on the bottom thats been in the house for about 8 months, we noticed that the right side of its doors was not sealing properly. When I contacted the store about this, I was told that this is a typical problem with the French-door models. Should this not be disclosed upfront?! When I contacted KA about this, I was told that my refrigerator was out of warranty (date of purchase, not date installed) and they refused to help in any way.My problem with all this is my old refrigerator (Maytag) had it for 23 years, and I never replaced a door gasket or worked on it in any way. I dont know a door gasket should go bad in less than a year. Now being two years, it is crumbling and falling apart when you open the door. If you buy from KA or an approved service company, the seal is $199. I purchased one on the internet for $99 and replaced it myself. Buyer, beware! KA does not care about the customer, just the dollar! I will never purchase another KA brand or Whirlpool brand ever again, and I will make sure all my friends know about it too.

I have had problems with my KitchenAid gas range right out of the box. I purchased it for $2500 about 4 years ago. Just after the first year, self-igniting elements failed, so I phoned customer service - the worst customer service I have ever experienced! In short, a $500 repair bill to have a tech repair the problem. I have been using a lighter ever since! The convention oven worked 50% of the time. After one year, I finally have to go buy a new oven after only 4 years because the pilot failed to ignite the gas oven - very dangerous part to fail. For what should be the top of the line for the Whirlpool Corporation, you should run not walk away from any KitchenAid dishwasher you see in the showroom. We purchased a new home less than 3 years ago which had a brand new Kitchenaid dishwasher. We are a family of 6 who cooks at home most nights so the dishwasher gets a lot of use. In the less than 3 years we have had the control panel motherboard replaced 2 times (thankfully under warranty) and last week the dishwasher started to leak significant amounts of water ruining part of our kitchen floor. We had a technician come out and he knew right away it was the sump. He openly said this thing is a lemon which Whirlpool has known about for years and refuses to fix. We asked if we could fix it and his response was Sure, these are one of the parts I carry with me to all jobs because they fail so much. However the repair cost was almost $500 so we have decided to send this piece of junk to the curb and purchase another brand. Whirlpool has lost a customer for life.

I would love to share my experience with my new KitchenAid refrigerator, however it appears at Whirlpool who makes KitchenAid refrigerators is not up to the task of manufacturing it and getting it shipped!!! How can one have faith in a company that cannot manage its supply chain? I ordered this refrigerator from a major appliance retailer on the East Coast, Karls appliance on the 5th of June 2020. Its delivery date has been postponed three times already with no firm commitment as to when the product will ship. I made the mistake of continually waiting thinking Ive invested this much time already I might as well wait for it to arrive. This turned out to be an ill-advised strategy. KitchenAid refrigerators are simply not shipping.Had I ordered a Bosch, or GE or any of a number of brands not manufactured by Whirlpool, I would have had my refrigerator for months. If you are prepared to put your trust in a company that cannot honor its commitment dates, then Whirlpool/KitchenAid maybe a viable option for you. For me however this incompetence in handling supply chain management is a deal-breaker! I will not likely ever purchase a Whirlpool/KitchenAid product again.

I have a french door refrigerator (Model KBFS22ECMS00 purchase date 1/27/15) and gas range (Model KGRS202BSS-1 purchase date 1/19/15) that have issues. I called 2 weeks before Thanksgiving about the freezer not maintaining temperature (set at -6 degrees, maintaining 6-15 degrees) at time of call. Several days BEFORE Thanksgiving, the refrigerator started doing the same thing (set as low as possible, maintaining 45+ degrees). On the day of Thanksgiving, my oven refused to maintain set temperature. It would get to temperature then the igniter failed to ignite the gas and maintain the set temperature. No smell of gas in the house.November 30 when service techs arrived, it was discovered my condenser leaked all the oil out and the compressor had locked up. They had to order parts. Had a service date of 12/16 to repair the refrigerator and troubleshoot the issue with the oven. Was called the day before by Video Tech Services (the servicing company) to cancel my service appointment because one of the refrigerator parts was on backorder. Called KitchenAid/Whirlpool early last week and lo and behold, THEY had the part that was on backorder so I have no idea where the service company is getting their parts from. Parts were sent to the service company 2 day shipping so they SHOULD have received it last Friday (12/18)... At the latest.I called KitchenAid/Whirlpool again on the Tuesday (12/22) since I had not received a scheduling call from the service company. Interestingly enough, the servicing company received the backordered part on SATURDAY (12/19) but had since FAILED to call for a service appointment. Now mind you, this is going into a SECOND MAJOR HOLIDAY without appliances. The service company finally called 30-45 minutes AFTER my call to the manufacturer. I am now scheduled for a repair on January 15 because I refused to take another day off from work (11/30) to accommodate them. I had taken the day off on 12/16 as well. Both appliances 10 months old (actually the refrigerator was 9 months old (delivery date of 2/22)) before failing and 60+ days before repair? Through two MAJOR holidays???

Most unbelievable experience I have ever had in my life with an appliance (KFGG500EWH2), the other KitchenAid products have been fine? I bought this oven before Thanksgiving on 11-15-17. My wife just noticed now on December 25, 2017 that the top of the oven door and around the controls the white paint is turning Brown?!? I havent hardly used the oven but a half dozen times, a couple of pizzas and the turkey on Thanksgiving. We noticed on day one the stove top was more than just hot to the touch on Thanksgiving...more like untouchable!!! I will check the temperature now to see how hot it is getting. My guess is if it isnt a design defect, there may be some insulation missing in the door and or around the front of the stove top... Im not taking it apart to see why... This is more than disappointing. I will contact the manufacturer and the distributor ABT tomorrow to see what they will do. I have never seen anything like this before, this is the 3rd oven I have owned in my life, and never had this issue. I will post the receipt tomorrow if it lets me append this.

We had a complete kitchen remodel and after 3 months, I noticed that there were spots of rust on the finish of the dishwasher and refrigerator. I called the company only to have them appease me by sending me a stainless steel cleaner. Needless to say, no cleaner is going to take the spots away. This is a design flaw and has been noted in several blogs that tiny specks of rust have been found on KitchenAid products due to the brushes used in manufacturing the products. What do I do now?

42-inch side by side model KSSO42FMX bought in 2005 stopped working in December 2013. After 2 months of trying to get it fixed and trying to fix it myself, I decided to replace it with an even more expensive Sub-Zero model. It did not turn out to be a control board issue, which others have complained about. Likely a problem with the sealed system. KitchenAid/Whirlpool did not even respond to the owner of local store where I bought it or to the builder who installed it during our high-end remodel.

I remodeled my kitchen in 2004 with all new beautiful stainless KitchenAid
I remodeled my kitchen in 2004 with all new beautiful stainless KitchenAid appliances including a built-in $5000 fridge. The first thing that broke was the handle on my microwave right after the warranty ended - it couldnt be fixed without replacing the whole door, so I kept super gluing it till it finally blew in 2010 and couldnt be fixed. I replaced it with another KitchenAid microwave which was supposed to be comparable but it wasnt. It was my fault for not researching better, but it was Thanksgiving and I needed a new one immediately. The next appliance to break was my stove (also within just a few months of warranty ending) - just one burner, but wow! Was it pricey, a $300 part + the labor cost - so far so good. The next appliance to break was my dishwasher about 9 months ago - it needed a new inner door panel - part was no longer made. I finally found one in California, but between the part, shipping, and installation - over $400 - it doesnt make $ sense. Now, my gorgeous built-in fridge is broken. First, I replaced the thermostat. It worked fine for 1 day. Now, they say it must be a computer board - which the part is no longer available. It can be rebuilt, but with no guarantees it will work - so $300 for the rebuild, $150 to reinstall. Its about 5-8 weeks estimate to get the part back - so there is no fridge during that time. It may be worth it as the replacement cost for same fridge today is $8,000.Ive got to say that the service repair people have been awful (A&E). Theyre either late, or dont show up at all, and, so far, the majority of repairs Ive needed couldnt even be done. KitchenAid customer service is very frustrating. They love to tell you how sorry they are you are having these problems and are happy to set you up to purchase new appliances. I have 2 other refrigerators in my garage (thank God). One is a KitchenAid about 20 years old; the other is a 25+ year-old Maytag I think - neither of these have ever even needed a repair. Whats up with newer appliances? Do they have a chip in them designed to break right after the warranty is up? Ive started reading complaints not only for KitchenAid, but GE and others as well. It seems the consumer is just screwed as there are tons of complaints on all these manufacturers. Its painfully obvious that Im going to just have to replace all of these appliances very prematurely because of poor quality, design and workmanship, lack of replacement parts or rebuilding computer boards that have no warranties or guarantees. Im researching to see if there are any alternatives, any appliance manufacturer that can give me any sense of getting my monies worth. So far, it doesnt look good ... but for sure I will not buy KitchenAid products nor recommend them. I will, however, be happy to share with my friends/family/whoever what a bad experience I have had with their products, the lack of quality, the high cost, and the poor service after the fact. Sign me distressed, tired, ripped off. I almost forgot - my KitchenAid toaster also broke right after the warranty was out!

KFIV29PCMS00 - We got that fridge on January 2014 - so its 2 years and 4 months. The icemaker has never been performant - slow to make ice, but were not using it much so we didnt complained. About a year after we noticed iced was starting to build at the back of the top cabinet near the ice maker. We phone to KitchenAid and were told it was normal and to not worry about since the performance was the same. Yet 2 weeks ago we found all the ice was melting - cubes were soft and wet. We turned it off, but the next day we found the freezer was also melting, then all the refrigerator was not providing cold air at all. Called KitchenAid, the clerk is telling me nothing Ive said is under warranty. Then I told her Have you ever heard about Legal Warranty, and 30 secs later she came back and told me I will have nothing to pay.2 days later, the tech finally came in and said, the second evaporator had a leak so all the coolant leaked out and he had to replace it and also replace all the ice cube mechanism. A week later he comes back with all the parts to do the repair, but then as he opened the back cabinet he found it was filled with stains and black mold. All that comes from the water leaking from the ice maker, dripping inside the fridge and accumulating, then evaporating (from the anti-ice). So we were unaware of that water accumulating inside the cabinet (not accessible) and gradually forming mold (black mold and worst). Now my kitchen is full with refrigerator parts everywhere. The tech has gone as he doesnt want to work on the rotten refrigerator, and Im being ping pong at KitchenAid service and no one is telling me what to do and what will happened. The tech told me the cabinet cannot be replaced and cleaning all that mold is almost impossible. In other words he can only think about replacing the fridge altogether but KitchenAid is not responding. We paid high $$ (almost $3k) thinking we would be free of such problems, but were ending up with that situation after only 2 years. The previous fridge lasted 18 years and never had any issue before 17 years, and the one before that was second hand and lasted 20 years. Im pretty mad and discourage.

We have had a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDI01FLBL3) for over six year
We have had a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDI01FLBL3) for over six years now. We purchased this dishwasher so we could mount a cabinet panel on the front to match the kitchen cabinets. After just one year, the plastic parts in the door spring assembly broke and the door came crashing down. Customer service told me that the parts would not be under warranty. After several hours of talking to different departments, I finally received the parts at no cost. Less than two years later, the same parts broke again and the door came crashing down. I talked to several technicians at KitchenAid stating that this was a design flaw. They said it was more than likely due to the panel I had installed on the front of the dishwasher being too heavy. I removed it and took it back to the cabinet shop. It was one pound under the recommended weight. I paid $100 to remove another two pounds of wood from it before reinstalling it along with new plastic door parts (which I had to pay for this time). The same parts have broken two more times in the past three years. I have had the cabinet company install removable panels in the cabinets on both sides of the dishwasher for easier access to replace the broken plastic parts. Now, the door latch will not hold the door closed. I called customer service for replacement parts. It was going to be over $100 for parts and shipping! They stated that there was nothing wrong with the original design but they now have redesigned the original parts. This was the same story I got for the plastic door spring assembly parts! Between the door parts, cabinet work and now the latch, Im now going to buy another dishwasher. It will not be a KitchenAid ever!

I have 10+ yr old KitchenAid Superba double ovens. I was baking cookies at 350 degrees in top oven. I took one tray out after 7 minutes and cookies on top were burnt. Door locked itself before I was able to move other cookie trays around. Smoke in oven and perhaps oven fan not working. We turned the wall breaker on and off several times to restart the electronics, which seemed to indicate fan was working when electricity was on. After an hour of oven smoking, refusing to open and oven message of too hot, flames were seen through the door, like a smoldering fireplace. I ended up calling 911 for oven fire. After trying to open the door and let smoke out, the appliance cooled down apparently while firemen were in the kitchen so that the flames dissipated and door would open. Apparently, the flames were from the cookies igniting.

We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator, bottom freezer, Model No D-KBFS20EVMS approximately nine months ago. The compressor failed over a week ago and we are still waiting to have it repaired. Unfortunately, neither the retailer nor the KitchenAid Customer Service can find a replacement part and we have been unable to pin down when we will be able to have the appliance fixed. We have been told it may be another week but at this point we have no confidence in the company or the retailer. We have had to purchase a dorm refrigerator in order to keep several medications cold. KitchenAid refuses to replace the refrigerator but they did offer us a $100 gift card, good for another KitchenAid purchase. We understand that any appliance can fail, even those that are rated as very reliable, but we do believe a company should back up their products. This was our first, and now last, KitchenAid purchase.

The dealers repairman said he could nothing wrong the last time and charged me $50 even though it is still under warranty from dealer. I have a kitchenaid (owned by whirlpool) refrigerator. It is a built in unit that cost almost 8k when purchased six years ago. A small electric board went out on the unit. In contacting whirlpool I was told that the board was not made any more and the only way to resolve my issue was to receive a prorated amount against the purchase of a new Whirlpool refrigerator. I was sent to a review board who got back to me within a couple weeks to relate to me I could purchase a new unit from them (I will never purchase another Whirlpool product ever again) and can get a 1,500 credit toward a new unit. So if you buy anything from these people dont expect it to last. Not only does it break but it is irreparable. Not to mention it is a racket. Think about it, they sell you an over-priced unit that to their own admission only last 6 years and then they hook you to keep buying from them. Crooks!!!

I purchased an Architect Series II gas range in July 2009. The range is in a home that is inhabited only part time and has not been used much. In fact, it has probably been used a total of twelve times in two years. The first time that I used the self-clean function, the digital control panel went blank and the oven door remained locked. This occurred after about 1.5 hours of the self-clean cycle. I have researched this issue and discovered that it is an exceedingly common defect. Although this is marketed as a self-clean oven, it can never be self-cleaned without the risk of damaging a fuse that controls the control panel. When I contacted KitchenAid, they acknowledged that this defect has been recognized and repaired, but that my model and serial number do not fall within the recognized group of defective products. My product is an Architect Series II gas range. The numbers associated with it are KGRS807SSS and XY0202920. I have attempted to get KitchenAid to address the problem, but, as described above, they claim that my product falls outside the range of those that are defective. My problem is purely coincidental, although there are many similar complaints regarding the same product listed here.

KGRS505XSS30 - We are now on our SECOND KitchenAid stove (identical model) because we bought from a very reputable dealer and he had sent his service department out several times and finally just ordered us a new stove. So far, the oven is working okay but the knobs are definitely a safety hazard!!! When I go to clean the back of the stove, the safety knob, yeah right, will turn and flame up. I have burned paper towels, etc.Saturday, my son just reached to pick up a pot holder on the back of the microwave and a few minutes later we all smelled a foul odor. I went into the kitchen and the knob had simply moved enough to turn the gas on, but not the flame!!! Glad we had no smokers in the house. We had to raise windows and use fans to remove the gas fumes. DANGEROUS and should be recalled but after reading the reviews, it is obvious that KitchenAid could care less about safety. I have a aid mixer and am happy with that but will NEVER buy any of their products again.

The fridge started leaking at the top. I paid $115 from a repairman to be told this is a known defect for this fridge (air leak at the top). So KitchenAid should offer free repair for anyone who this affects. They are now made differently, so why should I be stuck with a lemon? I am so mad right now, repairing it is out of the question as I was quote $650. Also if this is a known defect, why didnt KitchenAid alert us? I could have saved $115 by not having a repairman out to our house. The solution for this is to turn the water off to our fridge and not having a water or ice maker, which is half the reason we bought the fridge. Stay away from this entire brand. We are also dealing with a Kitchenaid microwave that the whole door has fallen apart, literally, cracking and chipping away and I spent $225 for a new door that should arrive any day.

In 2007, I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from Pacific Sales. The refrigerator made funny noises when it ran but I put a piece of tile on the interior metalwork and the noise went away. Seven years later in 2014, an alarm went off inside the control board indicating a problem with the evaporator cooler. As it turns out, KitchenAid or Whirlpool used substandard capacitors in their control boards leading to premature failure. Mind you, this is a $6,000 refrigerator. When I contacted KitchenAid, they informed me that the part was no longer available due to a tsunami in Japan. KitchenAid referred me to an aftermarket control board manufacturer that wanted $800 for the part. They said that they used to have the boards repaired but that was no longer an option. After following the instructions on Steve Jenkins blog, I was able to have the board repaired at Rockstar Computers in Upland, California. Total cost of the repair was $55.

All of my other stainless steel appliances are over 10 years old and they are not rusting. The bottom line is KitchenAid is using a sub quality of stainless steel in all of their appliances. I called KitchenAid and they said there is not a warranty for finish on their appliances. How convenient is it for KitchenAid to reduce their cost of materials by using substandard stainless, then say there is no warranty on the finish? That is nothing but a ripoff by KitchenAid. Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

The unit will not agitate or spray water, whatever the term is. Ive recorded a video with my phone inside the dishwasher. All it does is fill, sit around for a bit, and then drain. I will more than likely be returning this for different model, if not a different brand entirely. We purchased in 2008 all of our kitchen in KitchenAid appliances. The biggest problem is with our microwave. We have replaced the grill cover twice. We replaced this product last in May of 2013. We also put in a new control panel because the panel would not work. That’s when I replaced the cover. Today is June 14, and they put my new panel in. When the technician handed me the grill cover, one of the clips had broken again. I called customer service, and they told me they could not help me because the warranty had expired. I told her this was the second grill I had purchased. They are $113 plus change, and I will have to buy another one.I told her I would like to talk to the President to tell how much trouble this product is, and that they need to fix it. I know $100 dollars to some people is nothing, but to me it’s a lot, especially if you purchase this all the time. My wife wanted KitchenAid because they were supposed to be the best. I dont have that feeling about their product. But you are right, customer service sucks! All I can say is that they better get their act together. It looks like they have no fan base.

We bought all new KitchenAid appliances for our new home in late 2011. Two years ago I had to replace the refrigerator after losing the compressor. It was going to be almost $900 to replace the compressor or $1300 to buy a new refrigerator, so we bought a new fridge, but NOT a KitchenAid. Also in 2017 two of the five burner knobs seized up and could not be turned on. Another service visit and about $500 later these were fixed. Now this week I’ve had to call for service AGAIN because two other burner knobs have seized up and cannot be turned on. This will cost me another $400-500 again to get it serviced. I’m seriously thinking about replacing it with an electric range. It takes forever for the oven to preheat and also takes forever for water to start boiling. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KITCHENAID PRODUCT!! They used to be great but nothing but problems now.

When we purchase our home, we inherited a built-in refrigerator, model listed above, and it immediately broke down. We had a home warranty and it was repaired satisfactorily under that warranty without assistance from KitchenAid. It was around a 1K repair. The unit was 6 years old. The next repair was one month out of warranty and we repaired again. This time it was over $600.Now my fridge is dead again. I contacted KitchenAid to request a concession due to the fact that the first repairs were done without their assistance and the fact that this unit cannot seem to operate without major repairs. Mind you, this units replacement cost is over 14K. They denied my request for assistance. We now are facing replacing the entire sealed system and multiple boards, and maybe the evaporator fan motor (that have already been replaced before at our cost). I would not ever consider purchasing another unit from KitchAid due to the longevity and customer satisfaction. At our prior home we had a SubZero built-in that was purchased new in 1987 for 6K and when our home sold 29 years later, it was still working with only minor issues during those 29 years.

NOt pleased. Bought this to replace our sixteen-year-old Kitchenaid fridge which worked fine but they said some parts were no longer available. Should have kept my old one.

KitchenAid® 25 Cu. Ft. Standard-Depth French Door Refrigerator - After about 6 months, the fan went out for the refrigerator, $250 Part cost. After about a year, the baskets in the freezer compartment are rusting and bleeding through the plastic coating. After about a year and a half, the bar between the two doors is worn out and will not properly close. You have to open the right door and slam close the left door to make sure it properly closes. Thank god for the temperature alarm. Do not buy this product!!!

Our kitchen aid refrigerator, which is just about 5 years old, has an offensive odor when the door is ajar. We have thoroughly cleaned it with baking soda, have 2 baking soda canisters in the refrigerator. Two different repair people (factory authorized) have come, but done nothing to resolve the issue. In fact, they made matters worse, by not re-positioning the refrigerator correctly when leaving. We need assistance. We should not have to discard a 5-year old refrigerator.

NEVER BUY A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR!! EVER!! My refrigerator has not worked since my install in July, 2019. Multiple service calls with no resolution. When I call I am put on hold for an average time of 30 to 45 minutes. Today on a 53 minute wait, when I connected they transferred me to the dept. responsible for my exchange and now it says a 75 minute hold. Customer service people have been nice and pleasant, but the company as a whole has a real issue and are understaffed. In addition, when I call to discuss the issue they just want to sell an extended warranty. I paid over $3,800 for the refrigerator, so expectation would be that it would work and be a good product. IT IS NOT!

We bought a top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher 1.5 years ago. We only use it on the weekends for 2 people. The motor recently froze which prompted a service call. Five weeks and they still have not fixed the problem. Parts of backorder, incompetent repair people, and a general lack of caring by KitchenAid. We have also had our high end refrigerator break down without being able to be repaired and another dishwasher with two motor repairs. Cheap products and poor quality all around. Would not recommend KitchenAid ever!!!

Purchases and installed 2/2015. Been using the top oven. Went to use the bottom one Christmas day, it kept blowing the fuse. Cant understand what is going on. I have read reviews of the oven shutting down when cleaning both but not using. If this is the case, why isnt there a recall on these ovens? Spending over 2600 on oven, you expect it to work and the problems getting solved but its not. Unfortunately Kitchenaid was closed but I plan on getting this problem solved or they can pick it up and dump it. Hum. American made. Theyre not being tested before selling them. Sorry I am not a big fan of Kitchenaid. At this time wish I had my Jenn-Air back. Old faithful never let me down. Merry Christmas Kitchenaid. Hope your ovens work today.

We purchased the KUDS30IXWH in November of 2014. The unit works perfectly to our great satisfaction. Extremely quiet and dishes/glass are sparkling clean. We have only used the Normal Cycle. Cannot vouch for the other ones. At delivery the unit looked great. No problems were visible. Suddenly three months later blemishes/spots/watermarks mysteriously appeared on the white front panel. We tried every possible way to remove them. When wet they disappear but all reappear as soon as the surface dries up. Very strange! We are trying to find out whether other people experienced the same problem before contacting the company.

I purchased a KitchenAid 42 Built-In refrigerator through Western Appliances (located at 1976, W San Carlos Street, San Jose, CA 95128). Within 1 year the right door would pop open after closing. I called Western Appliance first and they said they can’t do anything and I should call KitchenAid directly. I called kitchen-aid and they sent service technician, but it didnt fix the problem. In last 1 year they have sent service technicians almost 6 times and the problem still persists. After paying $8389.31 I am using a duct tape to keep the door closed, otherwise the food will go bad.I would like to get either my money back or product exchanged for a good one. Customer service said that they have sent my compliant to Pex department, but they didn’t give me any assurance on when it would be replaced. For last 1 year I am tired of calling them, getting a service scheduled and then staying home from work for the service technician to come home. They have changed hinges, they have even changed the door, but the door still pops open within seconds after closing. Here are more details on the fridge. This refrigerator is barely 2 years old. The lights began to fail after the first year and am told are not covered by the original warranty. Service just left and stated how ridiculously expensive the parts. We need a power supply board $387. And he may have to replace some or all of the LEDs at $77 each. This is absolutely ridiculous. It seems to be a common problem with LEDs in a cold environment. We could be looking at a bill of over $1000 for lighting on a $2,500 2 to refrigerator.

We had it fixed and again. We had to pay to repair the leak a second time and again water on my wood floors. Today, I came upstairs to find water all over the floors again! Plus, it hasnt really cleaned the dishes well in a long time. I am going out today and shop for a new dishwasher and will not even consider KitchenAid. And I had a KitchenAid stove for a very short time and had to go out and buy a GE because at Thanksgiving, the oven stopped working. When I re-did my kitchen I went with all Kitchen-Aid Appliances based on reputation. I included the Kitchen-Aid 25.8 CF French Door, 5-drawer refrigerator. I purchased all of this in 10/1/16. I am now on my second repair. About 2 years ago the fridge part stopped working and a technician had to replace a coil. Today my freezer stopped working. It is very disheartening to know how much was spent on the this product just to have it break down every two years. I called Kitchen-Aid directly who stated they can send out a service guy out of warranty. That is also, in my opinion, bad customer service. This is a higher end product that they are not willing to work with me on. I will rely on my home warranty for this repair but be mindful if you are thinking of buying this refrigerator.

I am writing is regard to several phone calls that were made to get a service call for my dishwasher. I was on elevator string music for 30 minutes from 07:28 to 08:03 AM. At that point I read off numerous numbers to the girl only to be advised to another telephone number and then at that number redirected to the place of purchase, and then to a holding company that has the warranty policy which was issued December 18, 2011 to December 18, 2014. KITCHENAID needs to select better people to handle these calls. I encountered a couple people to be rude and insensitive to the needs of a consumer. The final call finally resulted with an appointment for a technician to appear at my home between 12:00 and 5:00 PM tomorrow. After all these endeavors, I searched the internet and found CONSUMER AFFAIRS SITE. I am really upset that I had not looked before I leaped with KITCHENAID when I read issues with plastic wheels, broken dishes and completely rejected consumers dating back to before November 16, 2013. I counted at least 26 wheel issues of 529 complaints listed. Why wasnt a RECALL issued to correct this obvious and repeated documented poor quality in workmanship? This technician tomorrow should be bringing NEW REVISED WHEELS for this dishwasher. Needless to say - NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID.

We have had a top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher for over 5 years. This washer gets light use as we eat out a lot and only seasonal residents. The first problem was the failure of the door to stay closed. A repairman came out and we discovered that they use heavy string to attach the door and it broke with a $200 repair. About 6 months later, my wife was pulling out the dish rack and a plastic piece in the track came out. About 2 weeks later, the other sides plastic piece came out and now the entire rack falls down if you pull the rack out too far. Another $210 to fix. None of this should have happened if they used quality dependable parts.

I purchased the KitchenAid Gas/Convection Range with AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology. To put it simply - it does not work. It requires you to pour 1 3/4 filtered water on to the bottom of the range after you remove all racks. Click clean button and poof, in 40 minutes your oven is clean...NOT! I am not a cook. I purchased this oven almost 2 years ago. Ive used it less than 10 times. Mostly for holiday dinners. It just is not that dirty. Tried the self-cleaning feature twice. No difference. It just does not work. I am currently also questioning whether the oven is really working well at all. It takes forever to preheat and lately, more time than usual to cook food. I called customer service as I purchased an extended warranty. They wont come out until I troubleshoot all issues. Their recommendation was to unplug the oven and wait 30 minutes before plugging it back in - to reset the oven. Try cooking something and see if that solves the problem. Havent done that yet at the time of this review, however, I think this is an oven I would avoid purchasing. I know Im going to have to end up scrubbing the inside myself and be forced to use the recommended cleaners and tools or risk forfeiting the warranty. It is a great looking oven. It was recommended to me when I was looking to purchase all new kitchen appliances after a total kitchen reno. I just have a bad feeling about this appliance. Cant imagine what others with families and those that use this oven often are going through regarding the ability to clean it. This AquaLift, low-heat technology DOES NOT WORK.

Well, it started in October and finally, on April 1st (a coincidence?), I found out the part for my oven (replaced once before) was no longer manufactured and they could not find it. I had been promised on 6 separate occasions the part may be available (such fun having Christmas with no oven). It was a litany of no return calls to update the status of the part. The response: Were an incoming call center; we cant make outgoing calls. Hello?! - Its the 21st century. They did offer to pay for the part if I could find it on my own - of course; Ill do your job for you and on my time! As further compensation, they offered me 15% off the purchase of a new unit - once I supplied the invoice. Provincial taxes are 13% in Ontario - so big deal. I will grant you the stove is 10 years old and gently used, but is built-in obsolescence just the way it is? I feel terrible about sending a unit of this size to scrap when a dependable part was all that was required. I have gifted many friends and family KitchenAid products under the apparent fallacy theyre built to last. Never, ever again.

Just wanted to throw my $.02 in for what its worth. We bought a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator and have been totally dissatisfied with it right from the beginning. First, it is very loud when running. When we complained, the response was, to paraphrase, give it a few weeks, youll get used to it and you wont even notice it. That hasnt worked. Second, the ice maker is a joke. Very slow to make ice, cubes are small, and it wont keep up with the ice needs of only 2 people in the household. On 2/4/12, I purchased a Kitchen Aid double oven microwave unit nearly three years ago, when doing a kitchen remodel. All the appliances are Kitchen Aid, thinking we were purchasing a good, reliable brand name. Yesterday, I placed the oven in the self cleaning mode. After about 2 and a half hours, the inner glass panel on the oven door exploded, sending hot, shattered glass onto the floor. The intensity of the heat cracked the new cabinet along the top of the oven. I called the service center, and they indicated there have been no recalls on this problem. I am horrified to think that if my grandchildren were present, they could have been injured. After reading other complaints on this website, I think Kitchen Aid needs to do a recall on this unit. By the way, they did not offer to replace the glass. They said the glass was covered, but not the two service calls to replace it, and the glass can only be ordered by a service technician.

One week after purchasing a new KitchenAid fridge, it began spitting ice all over the floor randomly. We had to put it in vacation mode every time we left the house otherwise we risked wrecking out expensive hardwood floor. After about a month, the part arrived (they replaced the main CPU) it was repaired. That lasted about 4 months then it began randomly puking ice on to the floor again. They sent out another CPU and the front screen and said that would fix it. In the meantime, the ice dispenser stopped working as well as the main freezer compartment. We lost all of the meat in our freezer (roughly $1000 worth). Our fridge has been down for almost 2 months now and now they tell us the fridge has to be gutted. It has a system seal leak which cannot be fixed on site. Our fridge will be sent out for repair and we will be without a fridge for 4-6 weeks. They offered $100 for us to purchase a small fridge to get us by! What a crock. This fridge has been problematic from day one and now after all of the repairs they still cant explain why the fridge continues to discharge ice randomly or how/if it can be fixed! Maintenance was out to fix a problem within 6 months of owning because the motherboard fried. It went almost a year without working through certain commands. For instance: if you wanted to use the normal or heavy wash cycles, forget it, the machine would only run the one hour cycle. Its just been a pain in the butt. However, it is quite quiet. Purchased a $7000 Kitchen Aid refrigerator 6 years ago (KSSO48FTX02) at the suggestion of the salesman at JC Perreault in Montreal. Thankfully our $25,000 purchase of appliances did not include any other Kitchen Aid products as my recent problem has been nothing short of a customer service nightmare. Our refrigerator, which other than a constant noise problem, had been relatively reliable. Last month, a constant beeping sound and on/off of a motor was observed. In addition the control panel lights were constantly flashing whenever the door was opened. For 3 days - getting through the 800 number was impossible - so I was forced to call an outside tech. Upon hearing of the problem he informed me that there was a 90% chance the motherboard was fried. I told him to come over anyhow and in 5 minutes of pressing buttons he confirmed it - AND that the replacement part was DISCONTINUED by Kitchen Aid because of the Tsunami in Japan 5 years ago! The only fix would be a black market repair and it would cost me $2000, and it might not even work! When I finally got through to customer service at KA, they confirmed that the part was no longer being made and they suggested I check out Ebay or Amazon for replacements! The nightmare continues as I try to decide whether or not to cut my losses and buy a new fridge - and remodel my kitchen in the process since this one was built-in. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANY PRODUCT MADE BY KITCHEN AID, or Whirlpool or Jenn-air.

Count me in the group of very angry KSSC42QTSOO refrigerator owners. My circuit board started to ting about one month ago. It was sent to CoreCentric 1 week ago, and Im hopeful to have a working refrigerator in another week or two. In my Google search of this problem, I came upon an interesting post (which I could not relocate today) that may be helpful to some. A realtor from Ariz posted her problem with the same circumstances; same circuit board part number (W10121049 and substitute board 10219462. She said her husband had experience with soldering and circuit boards and was able to repair their refrigerator with a $5 capacitor, purchased at Radio Shack. She said she had found out these boards had defective capacitors manufactured in South Korea. Sure enough, my repairman showed me the rounded top of the blown out capacitor on my circuit board... I purchased this 36 built-in side by side in 6/06 with the thought that it would be a good refrigerator --I couldnt be more wrong!! At 3 years, we started having problems. So far repairs include a new circuit board, hinge repairs, evaporator, drier, compressor and fan motor, and an ugly repair kit to cover up the burned area that runs the full length - top to bottom - on the front panel between the freezer and refrigerator doors that happened because KitchenAid didnt put a big enough fan motor in. And here again, it is leaking Freon, so the entire refrigerator has to be gutted again to replace the evaporator, compressor, heat loop and? KitchenAid will cover the parts at an approx. cost of $800-$1000, this type of sealed system is covered for 12 years. The labor, however, is out of my pocket at $2,000.One of the repair techs told me these type of sealed systems RARELY go bad which is why KitchenAid backs them up for so long. Go figure!! This is Kitchenaid model KEBC247VSS02. The problem is common among ALL kitchenaid wall ovens. When using the self-cleaning mode, the oven apparently overheats resulting in a thermal fuse to blow. The oven shuts down completely, the door is locked and the oven cannot be used. Thanks to Youtube, the repair is relatively simple, although the entire double oven must be removed from the wall to replace the fuse. Appliance repair is a minimum of $200- 250. EVERY time the self-clean is used, the fuse blows. Therefore, self-clean CAN NOT be used. Terrible design and useless self-cleaning.

We purchased the new low profile style of KitchenAid microwave hood combination to replace a 21 year old Maytag model. I could no longer get parts for the old girl so decided to update. Installed the new unit in March of 2019. The performance of the microwave is as I expected from a higher end product. The model upgrades to LED lighting and the exhaust fan features are all pluses for this unit. The microwave touchpad and programs have worked very well. I would be rating this unit with 5 stars at this point except for one major flaw....There are (5) chrome buttons on the front face of the microwave to control the lighting, fan, open the door, cancel program, and start menu programs. On the surface of the buttons lettering had been stenciled to identify the function for each of these (5) buttons. After about 6 months of use the lettering has become faint and/or disappeared. Of course the two buttons used the most START and OPEN are now basically missing any lettering to identify the function of that button. In September I decided to contact KitchenAid Customer Experience Center about the problem. I first used the contact via e-mail found on the KitchenAid website explaining the issue with the button lettering disappearing. Received a response about 5 days later stating they were sorry I was experiencing and understood it could be frustrating. Then went on to state quote When touching the control panel, be sure there are no oils or lotion on your fingers. This can damage the lettering and finish.. They would be sure to pass on my complaint for review and future improvements. Of course this response did not sit well with me. What kitchen appliance should not stand up to normal use with your skin oils or other kitchen products touching its surfaces.I then called to arrange for a service call on the microwave again explaining to the representative my issue with missing button lettering. After much discussion of the problem they basically categorized the problem as cosmetic and therefore excluded under their warranty. The warranty in the User Guide also stipulates in bold lettering The cost of repair or replacement under these excluded circumstances shall be borne by the customer. No service call was set up at this point. After a couple more e-mail exchanges with Consumer Correspondence Team personnel, they recommended I arrange a service call to have a local KitchenAid repair technician look at my problem. I asked them to waive any costs for the service visit IF the technician could not classify the defect as anything other than what they had already called cosmetic. They could not provide me with such a waiver and no service call was arranged.I would say the Customer Experience Center personnel listened to my complaint and understood my dissatisfaction, but could not help resolve the problem. I even asked them to just send a set of new buttons and I would be a happy customer. I dont think that is going to happen either. No further communications for a couple of weeks now.Like I stated earlier, I now have (2 of 5) buttons without identification as to their function. The User Guide does not pictures of these buttons so you cannot lookup what the buttons do, good thing for our memory I guess. The frustration is the lettering should be able to withstand normal use in a kitchen environment without rubbing off. It is more than a cosmetic issue. Thus the reason for the 2-star rating for this appliance. I just want current and future customers to be aware of this issue. A photo is attached of the right hand side buttons showing the lettering disappearing with use.

I bought my side-by-side fridge at Sears as part of a suite of new KitchenA
I bought my side-by-side fridge at Sears as part of a suite of new KitchenAid appliances. I had the kitchen in my 100-year-old house completely remodeled last summer, and the new KitchenAid refrig, dishwasher and range hood were the centerpieces. The refrigerator just fit under a new custom-made wooden cabinet (designed around it) and beside a custom-made cabinet with granite countertop. Price for the refrig: $2, 266; price for the kitchen remodeling: @ $30,000. I started getting letters from KitchenAid right after buying the products about buying an extended warranty. I figured that $2,000 refrigerator was likely to work for a good long time. (Of course, this was a very naive view of present-day appliance quality.)The new refrigerator was installed by my contractor on Aug 15, 2012 and was a problem right from the start. The icemaker didnt work when we first plugged it in, and a service call from Sears was necessary to get it working initially. In early June 2013, both freezer and refrigerator stopped cooling. By the time we realized the problem, the food in our freezer had thawed out, so we each ate three pork chops and a lot of melting ice cream and called Sears for a repairman. We couldnt schedule a repair appointment with Sears A&E Appliance Repair Service (another horror story) for a whole week, so we brought two camping coolers up to the kitchen, put the food we really needed to keep - milk, eggs, butter, etc. - in them and started making a daily trip to the store to buy $4 or so worth of ice.I took a day off from work to meet the A&E repairman. (A&E schedules their appointments in four-hour windows - 8:00 am to12:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00.) The repairman finally arrived, took the whole refrigerator apart and said it needed a new evaporator. He said the part would be delivered to our house by UPS in about a week. So we continued buying ice, emptying the coolers, and eating out a lot. The part finally came and we got calls from A&E asking us to call them and verify that the parts had been delivered. When I called, I was put on hold and then finally spoke with someone whose English was so heavily-accented I really couldnt understand her. After loudly repeating, The part is here! The part is here! over and over, I hung up, hoped the repairman would show up, and arranged for another half-day wait.A new repairman wed never seen came the second time, opened the parts box, and commented that the evaporator was all banged up. I took a look and it was obvious that a number of the flanges or fins or whatever were bent. He tried to bend them back into shape and said, Theyll be fine. It wont make any difference. I left then, but my husband was there with the repairman. When I returned a couple of hours later, my husband told me the repairman said the wrong parts had been delivered. He had ordered new parts and they would be delivered in about a week. We scheduled another repair visit. That was when we got sick from eating the food in our cooler. The whole situation was making me really angry and depressed, so I called Sears Customer Service (another nightmare) and the woman I spoke with recommended that I use dry ice in my coolers, which would have required that I drive across town to pick it up. Before the next repair visit, we were asked to make another verification call, which I made. Around 8:30 the night before the visit, A&E called and another English language-learner told me that the parts had not been delivered and the repairman wouldnt be coming. I had already arranged to miss work the next day and two boxes from UPS were sitting in my hall. I started calling anyone I could get in touch with to tell them to send the repairman, that the parts were there.I guess I convinced someone because the first repairman showed up the next afternoon at 1:00. He opened the boxes, said the essential parts were there and again, took the refrigerator apart. He installed the new evaporator, but said he couldnt get the pressure right. He spent a lot of time on his cell phone talking with another repairman who was advising him. Finally, he said, Ive done everything I can. It may cool off by tomorrow, but if it doesnt, call A&E and tell them to send Bob **, the person he had called for advice. The next morning, the refrigerator wasnt cool at all. I called A&E and asked that they send Bob out. I was told he was out sick but would come the next day. The next morning, they called back and said he was still sick. I called A&E back, got another ELL on the phone and asked to speak with his manager so I could understand the speaker. I was transferred to another number that rang for five full minutes. No one ever answered the phone. Since then, I have learned that no one ever answers that number. By this time, my entire life centered around the refrigerator. Sympathetic friends were inviting us over for dinner and showing up with casseroles. Of course, if we didnt eat the whole dish, we had to throw the rest away because we were afraid of the food in the cooler. After another few hours on the phone, I contacted someone at Sears who arranged to have a loaner refrigerator delivered to my house. Again, I arranged for a delivery. Now I had a new, broken KitchenAid refrigerator in my kitchen and a small, dented GE in my dining room. I moved my milk into the loaner and bought some ice trays.I continued my calling and got a secret number from someone at Sears that enabled me to speak with a Blue Ribbon service person at Sears (talk about oxymorons) who sounded like hed had a LOT of Xanax. The Sears employee who gave me the number said, Dont tell them where you got the number. Is this a number available only to movie stars and Columbian drug cartel bosses? After hearing a condensed version of the whole awful story, the Blue Ribbon man I spoke with said Sears would replace the refrigerator with one of equal or lesser value. I reminded him that the price had probably gone up over the past year and that I had bought the original fridge on sale. This seemed to throw him for a loop. He said he had to get some more information and hed call me back in a couple of days.I called the Blue Ribbon number again this morning and asked how my refrig had been rated by other owners because I wasnt sure I wanted another fridge just like the first one if it was going to be the same piece of junk I got last summer. (Product ratings and customer reviews werent available to me online because the appliance was a special order.) But the guy at the secret number had reviews. There were only five reviews and four had given the fridge a one--out of a possible five--points. The reviewers had reported problems that sounded like mine. I then called KitchenAid and they informed me that the only KitchenAid refrigerator that will fit into my custom-built kitchen is the same one-rated model that I now own. So much for the carefully planned kitchen with the matching appliances. If Im lucky, Sears will have something that will fit in the spot built for the other fridge.
