Product Reviews:

The over the stove KitchenAid microwave has been in daily use for 6 months.
The over the stove KitchenAid microwave has been in daily use for 6 months. It usually works well, but there are random times when a message code appears rendering the micro unusable. The open/close door message will flash and it doesnt matter how many times you obey the command. The microwave will not allow a time to be entered or heat. After an hour or two the microwave will work just fine... Always after the meal is finished without those baked potatoes you allowed 12 min. cook time for.

Bought the range in March of this year for my mom. The salesman said the KitchenAid was a good brand (upper middle market), it has good looks, and a large oven. What he failed to mention is that they typically last 3-4 weeks, and you shouldn’t use them for cooking or they may get damaged :(. Within days of use enamel started falling off in the oven cavity - very dangerous when it lands on food, a couple months after the plastic door trim started peeling off and lately the cooktop scratched. We are extremely careful with all our appliances, we still use our green Admiral stove from the 60s and it is mint condition - I don’t understand how the KitchenAid stove can be so poorly built. I thought I was getting better value but in hindsight I should have gotten the basic GE stove. In conclusion, I do not recommend the stove, unless it is for display only, you are better off getting one at Goodwill.

We purchased the KitchenAid KEBS109 Single Oven, in-counter unit for our new kitchen five months ago. Why, I have no idea now. It was installed and worked up until this weekend where it now is a dead brick. All power was verified but nothing on the control panel. We called KitchenAid/Whirlpool for warranty service and they scheduled service for this afternoon between 1-5. No one showed. Note: I took the afternoon off to meet the technician. We called multiple times to find when they would be arriving and the same response was given to us each time - the tech will call 30 minutes before he arrives. We called tonight and spoke to a supervisor who tried to get us to take another day off. In all my life I have never had a company tell me, in their words, to stick it until today. But if I do find that (per the other complaints I have read) this repair will cost significant money I will have no choice but have this oven removed and I will personally drop it off at the front steps of the dealership with a note that they can..., but first take a sledge hammer to it.

I purchased an all new KitchenAid appliances in 2006 and have had major problems with them. The microwave was a fire hazard because it would randomly start on its own with nothing in it. A service technician was out several times to repair it (three trips in all). Now, the electric range (Model: KESA907PSS02) is not working again! We had the electronic range control and the touch pad replaced within the first year. They were covered under warranty. The same problem occurred this month and KitchenAid (Shari) will do nothing to remedy the problem. The cost to repair the range will be well over $450.00 if we have a technician do the work. I spoke with Shari from KitchenAid and she was not the least bit supportive or apologetic. She kept saying that it was no longer under warranty and there was nothing she could do. They have very poor customer service given my ongoing appliance issues. She was well aware of my appliance issues but was not at all concerned or helpful in providing assistance. We paid more money for the KitchenAid appliances than what we could have spent on other brands because we thought that we were getting premium appliances (definitely not so). Paying more does not mean that they are better! I will never purchase another KitchenAid product and will share my experience with others. They have horrible customer service and poor overpriced products. Shame on them for taking advantage of consumers and not providing a product that stands the test of time. I have paid for this range twice due to the repair costs over the years and I cannot afford to do so especially in these economic times. KitchenAid needs to address consumer satisfaction and produce a better product that warrants the high price tag.

We purchased our Kitchenaid Refrigerator, model # KFIS29BB with great excitement in January 2014. We had done our homework, looked at many fridges and were confident in our choice, having owned wonderful Kitchenaid appliances before. Right away I noticed that it seemed to run a lot, and seemed louder than would be right. Ironically we had also purchased a Kitchenaid Dishwasher which is among the quietest in the industry. By August, the icemaker stopped working. It was under warranty, so the repair team came out. This required two visits, one to diagnose and one to actually repair. On repair day, it took two men four hours. They removed every shelf and bin and replaced the compressor and the evaporator. The repairman confided that he had fixed quite a lot of this particular model. Within two weeks, the ice maker quit again. And this time a loud annoying buzz from the motor began. Another two call repair. The second repair did not require as much time and effort as the first. But within 2 weeks the second repair failed, and the loud buzz was back. The fridge seemed to run constantly, but the temp in the freezer was about 18 degrees, and the fridge, 45. And the buzzing was crazy making incessant. At this point the store agreed to exchange it and we did not purchase another kitchenaid. Im hoping to save someone else the level of aggravation this purchase caused. On a brighter note, the kitchenaid architect series dishwasher rocks!

We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher in April 2012. During the 1st year, we had to replace the right upper dish assembly (the wheels), the door switch and control panel. Today we replaced the motor and pump assembly which was not covered by warranty! This cost us a dear $440.00 with the labour. We are just in the process of replacing the left upper rack assembly (warranty item). We replaced our original dishwasher (Kenmore) because of the colour and decided to get a KitchenAid because our other appliances are KitchenAid. This was a huge mistake. Our Kenmore never had a service call. We would never buy another KitchenAid product!! The next repair needed will see the dishwasher at the dump!!

We purchased KitchenAid KUDS30IVWH3 a year and a half ago from Lowe’s. All new dishwashers have a new connector that hooks the water supply to dishwasher. It simply screws onto a plastic piece. Over time this connector simply came loose. It flooded our kitchen and laundry room which has been three months of restoration - new floors, rebuilt cabinets, etc. And it cost many thousands of dollars for the insurance company. It has been a serious problem. The plumber said these new connectors are not safe and he gets nervous every time he installs one. He said they cannot be refit with a different connector. I am the second person he has had with major flooding in the home due to the new connectors. He said the European dishwashers still have the old brass connectors.

We bought a new KitchenAid gas range Model in 2014. The model# is KGRS505XSS. Within 1 year, one knob got stuck in off position. We had to pay $150 to service appliance person to get that fixed. Then less 1 year later a different knob has been stuck in off position. This is completely random and happens when were not even operating the knob. An amateur layperson cannot fix it. For the 30 years that we have been owning other gas ranges and operating it in similar home type situations, this has never happened to us. This KitchenAid unit is defective OR this could be a basic design flaw. Beware of this type of problem and do NOT buy KitchenAid for this reason.

Model # KSRD25F Door Bin Holder: Today, I contacted KitchenAid in regards to my refrigerator door cracking from the bin holder and around the outside of the door. This is the part that is made to hold gallons of milk and jars that are glass. I spoke to **, the supervisor, after I was told that the bins are covered for lifetime, but the holder that they sit in would not be covered. I read the label on the inside of the door and I quote, KitchenAid is dedicated to providing quality engineered appliances that offer lasting value.” But thats just the beginning. “Our lifetime warranty on door bins is synonymous with long-lasting, worry free performance. This is what is right inside the door where you place the bins. I was told that I could purchase a new door by Ms. **. I asked how much the door would be as this could cause one of our children to get hurt. She came back to say the door is no longer available to purchase and that my only option at this point would be to purchase a new refrigerator. My refrigerator, at this point, is not long lasting and not giving me that worry free performance that they apply to the door. The bins were supposed to be designed to hold a gallon of milk, jars and two liter bottles. They lifetime warranty the bins that you put the items in, but not the holder that holds them in your refrigerator. If these fall from the refrigerator, they have the potential to severely injure the person retrieving the items from this refrigerator.

Purchased a wall oven model KEBS109BSS October 2013. Oven completely shut down during cooking, couldnt turn it on, nothing. Had service tech out September 2016 and paid to have it fixed (out of warranty). Same issue again March 2017. Tech out again, had to pay again to have it fixed. Last Saturday, same issue. Have contacted KitchenAid, they wont do anything to rectify the situation because its 4 years old, not cover issue under warranty. I pushed the issue, talked to a manager. They were rude and wouldnt budge. Had the nerve to tell me that it is man-made and parts do fail. Are you kidding me?! Over $2,000 piece of junk that Ive already put $400 into. NOTE: BEWARE - KITCHENAID APPARENTLY EXPECTS THEIR MAJOR APPLIANCES TO LAST 3-4 YEARS.

Pretty much everything was covered, ad nauseam, in this blog. New house, new appliances - the repairman was here three times because our $7,000 SXS KitchenAid fridge/freezer (Model: Kss048FTX03) was not cooling. The repairman said the first time he was here that he installed the part that would solve the problem. Well, he will be back in 4-5 days with another part. It seems that the wall between the fridge and the freezer builds up ice that prevents cooling in the refrigerator. At least, that is what I am told. I was also told that he is very frequently called out to repair this issue.I mainly bought this product because we wanted to install custom door overlays to match our cabinets and a large unit. Not a lot is available in Hawaii and we were able to order this from Lowes. We are so sorry we did. Im glad that I purchased extended warranties on all appliances and am real glad that only two of them are KitchenAid! We, too, have lost all our food twice, not to mention the hassle of removing everything together with the thaw out and order process for parts. Should we have a class action here? We shall see. Im glad I found this site. My husband is a litigation lawyer with just such experience, so I may be back in touch with everyone when the next repair fails!

I got this new KitchenAid stove 1500 and was so happy with the way it looks, but... What a horrible product this company made! First, I had to exchange this stove, because of the computer problems it had (exchanged it two times). Unfortunately it was over 30 days so I could not return it. Second, it takes over 30 minutes to preheat the oven! Third, after a month of using it two light bulbs went off!! At the same time!!!Last, but not least their service team checked and stated that the temperature in the oven is right, but to roast or bake it takes twice as long! Not to mention that the glass top is made from some horrible material and it is very difficult to clean! And one area of glass is already chipped off!! I bought it in June 2016 four month ago! Dont buy Kitchenaid products!!!

My wife and I, the only folks in the house and in our 70s, remolded our kitchen with KitchenAid products. The refrigerator, now 5 years old, has had two ice makers replaced at $700 and the temperature panel for the refrigerator side hasnt had a light for 3 years. The ice maker chute mechanism simply fell apart one evening while we watched TV. The microwave door hinge fell off and the temperature probe in the oven stopped working. We had two sets of GE appliances in our 54 years and replaced them with new styles, not because they were broken. KitchenAid customer service told me I should expect to repair kitchen appliances and would send a repairman if I paid for it? What a ripoff!

KitchenAid 21.9 cu ft Refigerator - KBFS22EWMS. Two year old 22 ft french door fridge with bottom freezer is falling apart. Poor build quality, poor service. For over two months, the freezer portion has be experiencing a build up of ice. We defrosted (manually) and build up began again. Waited for over a month for service man to visit. Upon inspection, service noted two things: 1) thermal defrost coil was faulty and 2) fridge door seal needed to be replaced. Our fridge does not experience abnormal usage, two adults and two university students. Why does a door seal deteriorate after two years unless...... its poor quality or defective... but no warranty?? (I have a 20 year old back of fridge in the basement, no problems other than its almond in colour). Why does a coil not work other than its defective or poor quality..... No warranty??? (I have a 25 year old deep freeze that still works). In addition to the defective manufacture and poor quality of this fridge, neither KitchenAid / Whirlpool or the service company can identify the part (i.e part number) to order, replace and fix the fridge. How do you build a product and not know the parts that go into it? Poor or lack of quality control! In the last two years I purchased a fridge, dual fuel range and dishwasher; all were KitchenAid. All were billed as being the best Kitchenaid had. I have had major repairs now on all three appliances! I bought and paid extra for KitchenAid, their quality was in theory better than most, NOT in my experience. In our home KitchenAid stands for KitchenDisabled or Kitchen in need of first aid. Poor build quality and poorer product knowledge and documentation. Run do not walk away from Kitchenaid/Whirlpool. They have a 1 year warranty on parts; is this because they know that within 14 months you will need to be replaced and thereby earn extra revenue from their parts sale? Interesting strategy and sales plan, poor customer service and reputation. Built NOT to last.

Purchased new refrigerator Oct 2013. One year later it failed - not keeping food cool enough. Parts were replaced. One year later it failed again - same problem but different cause. This time it was a manufacturing defect which, according to the repairman, was well known but we had received no notice. Again, according to the repairman, there had been six updates to the control panel during that year but again, no notice from KitchenAid. Now, two months later, it has failed again. This time it is some sort of internal water leak which was undetected until it ruined about half my kitchen cabinets, the lower adjacent wall and several feet of living room wood floor. Fortunately I have both home insurance which will cover most of the house damage and an extended warranty on the refrigerator which will cover that repair but I am still out a substantial deductible which I intend to be reimbursed by KitchenAid. Further, under no circumstances would I recommend a KitchenAid appliance to anyone. This particular model is a POS and further, KitchenAid does not apparently care what happens to the appliance once it leaves their factory.

I purchased the KitchenAid Gas/Convection Range with AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology. To put it simply - it does not work. It requires you to pour 1 3/4 filtered water on to the bottom of the range after you remove all racks. Click clean button and poof, in 40 minutes your oven is clean...NOT! I am not a cook. I purchased this oven almost 2 years ago. Ive used it less than 10 times. Mostly for holiday dinners. It just is not that dirty. Tried the self-cleaning feature twice. No difference. It just does not work. I am currently also questioning whether the oven is really working well at all. It takes forever to preheat and lately, more time than usual to cook food. I called customer service as I purchased an extended warranty. They wont come out until I troubleshoot all issues. Their recommendation was to unplug the oven and wait 30 minutes before plugging it back in - to reset the oven. Try cooking something and see if that solves the problem. Havent done that yet at the time of this review, however, I think this is an oven I would avoid purchasing. I know Im going to have to end up scrubbing the inside myself and be forced to use the recommended cleaners and tools or risk forfeiting the warranty. It is a great looking oven. It was recommended to me when I was looking to purchase all new kitchen appliances after a total kitchen reno. I just have a bad feeling about this appliance. Cant imagine what others with families and those that use this oven often are going through regarding the ability to clean it. This AquaLift, low-heat technology DOES NOT WORK.

My mother-in-law, like many people of her generation, swore by the quality
My mother-in-law, like many people of her generation, swore by the quality of KitchenAid dishwashers. We have always bought them until now. Reading the complaints on the internet it is apparent that these dishwashers were once of high quality, but that this is no longer so. We bought one a little over a year ago to replace a 20 year old trouble free model (without doing any research). As predicted by the complaints on the internet, the top shelf failed within a year. We have had several service calls for other reasons and today we decided to simply pull out the KitchenAid, throw it away, and install a Miele (without great hopes). So, why has KitchenAid become so bad. The first thing to note is that Whirlpool now owns Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and many other brands due to a purchase in 2008. They are all one company and, in a published peer-reviewed study (you can find it at the National Bureau of Economic Research website), it has been established that prices for dishwashers made by this mega-company increased and the number of models declined. In other words, Whirlpool has virtually no domestic competitors. Your only choice is foreign or domestic. Get used to it. The practical effect is that prices for dishwashers of the same quality have actually increased more than the above study indicates. It is a sad comment on an old American brand.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDS30IXBL2 - This dishwasher was purchased in May of
Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDS30IXBL2 - This dishwasher was purchased in May of 2011 by the previous owners of the home we purchased in March 2013. I started having problems in December 2014 with the dishwasher running about 10 minutes then stopping. Called Lowes who had sold the dishwasher. The previous owners had purchased a 4 year extended warranty, but Lowes wouldnt honor this because we werent the ones who bought the dishwasher. Just another rip off of getting out of honoring the warranty. Repairman came out and ran all the diagnostic codes. Came back and replaced the console. This didnt fix the problem. Called again. Still running intermittently. Sometimes completed cycle and sometimes not. He came and replaced the sensor. Meanwhile the rollers and glide holding the top rack started to break. As I see on this site, that seems to be a common problem. Called back to get repairman to come again and mentioned the rack problem and was told the company had a call back on the rack parts. So repairman came and replaced all the broken parts for the rack, ran codes again and said it might be the control. He got into the control and took off and reattached every wire and found no problems but said it might be the control. I ran the dishwasher again, and it quit after about an hour. Restarted it with no detergent in it, and it still didnt complete the cycle. Called back today and was told they could order the control, at a cost of $189. To date, I have spent $378.81 with another $200 part ordered and still have a dishwasher that doesnt work. The original dishwasher cost $773.19 so I will soon have an all redone dishwasher that may still not work. This is absolutely unforgivable. I have had about 3 dishwashers in 2 other houses in 40 years and NEVER had any of these kinds of problems. I was always led to believe Kitchen Aid was a top of the line dishwasher. This one is NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD and has almost cost its original purchase price! I want to see something done about this by the company. And I will NEVER, repeat NEVER purchase another Kitchen Aid product.

As has been noted in other reviews, KitchenAid has issues with the ice makers not functioning correctly and prematurely breaking. Not even three years into owning the refrigerator, the ice maker has now completely burned up. Brought the issue to KitchenAid/Whirlpools attention and they just dodged questions about the issue being a known issue and inquiries if there have been other reports of the problem (which there obviously have been, as one can see clearly in the reviews). Instead, they tried to get us to contact the seller and ask them to cover the repair. $2400.00 for a refrigerator is not cheap... We wont be buying KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Jenn-Air, or any other brand under the Whirlpool umbrella after this experience. (We have several KitchenAid appliances, as we used to think they were a good company.)

Every Kitchen Aid appliance we own has failed. We have had multiple repairs to the refrigerator (compressor failed), dishwasher (door hinges made of cord failed), oven (multiple problems), microwave door, etc. Only after I started blogging all over the internet, did Whirlpool partially compensate us for repairs (that is a very long story). This month, the plastic tabs holding the vent above the microwave broke, and the oven racks rusted when I washed them. The oven self-cleaning cycle doesnt work very well either. I will never, ever, buy a Kitchen Aid product again. I will tell my story everywhere.

Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others
Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others changed with kitchen upgrades, never had a failure such as this. Previous dishwashers were Kenmore, Frigidaire; latter was a very basic model; in same residence 32+ yrs, kids (3) no longer part of current household. Dishwasher used 6-7 times per week in household of 2, with my wife cooking 5-6 days a week; moderate use, rarely use heavy-duty clean cycle with present dishwasher. This model has a 2-stage filter (fine, coarse), with recommended cleaning varying from once/2 months to yearly. We did not clean it since new, since we scrape dishes, do minimal pre-wash or none - our usual practice for 32 yrs in present house, 6-8 yrs in prior house. When dishwasher quit draining, checked filters, small amount of residue (1/2 tsp or less), no significant coarse grit seen. Noted no discharge from DW via exhaust tube with 3 successive cycles. I watched running empty DW. Had purchased an extended warranty for a year (3 appliances, range, fridge & DW), all purchased together, all KitchenAid, 13 mos ago with complete kitchen remodeling after 22 yrs since last remodeling.Repairman (under warranty) checked machine, found exhaust pump clogged with debris, failed; emptied some particulate matter from exhaust tube into a bucket, looked like congealed fat, a few parsley & other leafy matter. No hard grit seen. He did say that matter had been pulled past the filters (couldnt say why other than pump has a suction like a vacuum), though neither filter was even moderately clogged.KitchenAid approved a $300 plus sum for pump replacement; their consumer services could not answer my query as to how so much debris got past the filters to cause pump failure within 13 mos. This model does not have a grinder as in next higher model, but again, there was not much particulate debris I could see; pump was not yet removed, so will wait to see what it looks like.In summary, very disappointed with this early pump failure, with way less usage than in prior dishwashers that functioned well for a family of 5 for 10 yrs, and 22 yrs respectively. Believe Kenmore is made by Whirlpool, the parent company of KitchenAid, so the design, though older, is I feel similar. Modern DW detergents (we use the satchets, not powder or liquid) recommend NOT scraping too much food residue off dishes, to allow triggering of enzymatic action for cleaning dishes. We rarely see residue, occasional baked on material such as egg yolk, which we now clean off; no pots go in DW, rare baking dishes, which we scrub off in the sink. So we dont feel this DW was overworked.Writing this while searching for others with similar pump failures, trying to understand why two levels of filters failed to protect a pump that obviously is rather delicate, hence recommendation by KitchenAid Consumer Services now that every month we run an empty cleaning cycle with an Affresh tablet to clear the system. BTW, weve never seen hard-water residue inside any of our dishwashers; the prior two did not have stainless steel interiors, never required special interior cleaning with bicarbonate etc., for any build-up; we get city water, pipe-bourne, just flushed out my gas water heater after 4-5 yrs, saw a small amount of milky flow at beginning of drainage, then clear; I have a water filter at my house cold-water intake; the water (filtered) in the fridge is always clear, no problems with ice-makers over 32+ yrs, no hard-water cum anywhere.KitchenAid has no answer for us other than the Affresh cleaning cycle; we use a comparable DW detergent to the recommended Cascade, not Cascade Platinum as recommended; anybody with a similar problem, either with KitchenAid dishwashers or any Whirlpool family dishwashers (include the high-end Jenn-Air brand now)? Am feeling very disappointed with this choice right now, will expect another pump failure in 1-2 yrs, if so will look for remedy from KitchenAid, or else...!Can scan receipt of purchase from Lowes store locally if required. I have no repair order number, as requested below. Do have extended warranty # if required. We had Sears brand appliances in our old house (8 years), still have Sears (Kenmore) washer and dryer, 3 sets over 43 yrs of married life, 2nd set in this house, first set lasted 24 years, top-loaders, replaced when laundry room was remodeled, now with HE front loaders that are currently 8+ years old. Some repairs were needed, recall replacing motor of current washer when motor-bearing became noisy.

I have mixed emotions on this as it has been a great dishwasher. Used probably every day for 7 or so years. No problems. Then my wife comes home from walking the dog... she had started the dishwasher 15 minutes before. Smoke was pouring from the top of the dishwasher.... but no lights or sound. Smoke dissipated but really smelled bad. I got home, took apart and the control panel was 1/2 charred. I check the internet and find that a lot of people have had this happen. Its a good thing it didnt start the house on fire. I figured I would just buy a new control panel and wire harness but the wife refuses to have the thing in the house anymore.

We purchased all new appliances for our new house about 2 years ago. After almost a year this refrigerator went downhill fast. Out of nowhere, the ice machine quit working. Then we went to the refrigerator one day and all of our food in the freezer and refrigerator had gone bad because at some point it just quit cooling. We got a KitchenAid service tech out to fix it. Turns out it was some sort of sensor that went out. The ice machine never worked like it originally did. Now, this hunk of junk is acting up again. The water/ice is not working, the control panel is not responding, and the interior lights will not come on. I wish I had gone with a different brand. I hate to replace this refrigerator because it matches all the appliances in our kitchen. This refrigerator was way too expensive to be having this many problems.

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. They are finished with us as we are with them.

We built a new home three years ago and installed all KitchenAid appliances. The refrigerator has been a lemon. KitchenAid has not been helpful in dealing with repairs. We have repaired the ice maker four times and finally it was replaced. Most recently the refrigeration system has developed a leak and is not cooling. We were informed that the retail cost of the repair is $3000. If we had not built in the refrigerator and purchased cabinet fronts for the doors we would have replaced this appliance.

As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago
As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago, we purchased a KitchenAid Fridge Model KRFF707ESS01. Rather than take the specced Frigidaire appliance group that was included with our new home purchase, we elected to spend the extra money believing KitchenAid was a superior product. During the past year, we have encountered some of the inner cabinet led lights not functioning and others flickering on and off. We have determined that it isn’t a simple fix such as a door switch, but rather defective led lights and or an led emitter control board. It appears this is a common problem, however KitchenAid is not acknowledging it as a manufacturer defect.I have read a number of online posts reporting the same issues. The reviewers report having replaced faulty led lights, only to have the same problem reoccur. In one case the reviewer stated they were advised that nothing could be done to remedy the problem. I strongly advise you to not buy a KitchenAid fridge with this led lighting design. Repairs are either extremely costly or impractical as the problem will only reoccur. A highly respected technician in our area has confirmed that this is a common problem with KitchenAid fridges. This is a manufacturer defect and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

I have had problems with my KitchenAid gas range right out of the box. I purchased it for $2500 about 4 years ago. Just after the first year, self-igniting elements failed, so I phoned customer service - the worst customer service I have ever experienced! In short, a $500 repair bill to have a tech repair the problem. I have been using a lighter ever since! The convention oven worked 50% of the time. After one year, I finally have to go buy a new oven after only 4 years because the pilot failed to ignite the gas oven - very dangerous part to fail. I will never buy another KitchenAid product as long as I live. KichenAid Brand is owned by Whirlpool, and I will purchase any product Whirlpool sells. We bought this Convection Oven/Microwave at the same time as our oven, KEBS107SS, and cooktop, KFGS 206VSS. After buying it at Sears and coming home and reading the reviews here, I was ready to cancel the purchase. Decided instead to purchase the 5 year extended warranty. Buying warranties is something we dont do. However, we were spending so much on these 3 appliances and after reading the complaints on the oven and microwave, we did purchase the 5 year warranty on the oven and the microwave. Less than 18 months later, the microwave went out. The service guy has been out twice with a 3rd trip scheduled. I have been without my microwave for 13 days and it will be another 10 waiting for the parts. The worst part was being without it while needing to cook for 25 during Christmas, which is not something Id expect to do with a microwave weve had less than 18 months. Next time we buy appliances, I will read reviews before we purchase and I will not purchase from KitchenAid. KitchenAid doesnt care about their consumers who buy their products. (That is a story Ill need to write on our cooktop that we didnt purchase the warranty on.) There are other appliances out there with better reviews. The KitchenAid appliances look nice, but the quality is not there. Our last microwave that was over the oven was not even broken when we replaced it and it was 15 years old without ever having a service call. It was GE and was the microwave that came with the house. It wasnt even an upgraded appliance! I dont write reviews, but I learned so much from reading these, and now that we are having problems with a relatively new appliance, I decided to write this for others.

When I pulled the top rack out to unload it, the left side collapsed without any warning, spilling dishes and glasses down onto the crockery in the bottom rack and out onto the floor. When I looked for the cause, it was obvious that one of the two flimsy plastic “spring” pegs that retain each wheel of the upper rack on its axle had broken. This allowed the wheel to pull off the axle and thereby allow the entire left side of the top rack to collapse. It seems to me the axles on the rack adjuster (part number W10350376) are very poorly designed and is not made as solidly as the wheels on the lower rack. This is despite the fact that both upper and lower racks are of the same dimensions and so to me as an average consumer, both should be able to support a full load of dishes.

We bought a very high end Architect series very expensive side by side. Just moved into new house. Awful smell in fridge soaks through food and food then tastes bad. Exceptions are if food is in glass, aluminum, or heavy plastic (not plastic wrap/bags). Water undrinkable. Ice not usable. Smells terrible when opening the door. Purchased through very reputable large distributor who verified on two separate service calls this was fact and made sure not due to other issues. We are using a small backup fridge.Distributor has been calling frequently to KitchenAid rep/service to resolve. KitchenAid has not responded for 13 days since filed complaint. Since installed during building process, not simple to return. Have had other KitchenAid appliances in the past that we were very satisfied, but this is completely unacceptable. We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dish
We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dishwasher in 2007 when we renovated our kitchen. We have had to replace the control panel twice because when we attempted to self clean, it overheated and locked up. After reading other reviews, I am grateful the glass didnt break as well. The off button for the oven no longer works. Our work around is using the cook duration feature and setting it for 1 minute when we are finished using it. I couldnt tell you the model since everything has melted off the inside of the oven. The top grates broke almost immediately, the knobs are hot and the color has worn off. What I find most upsetting is the over range microwave starts by itself and beeps randomly and then shuts off with an F2 error. We have kept it unplugged when not in use. Out of principle, we have not wanted to replace these as we paid a considerable amount thinking we were buying quality. While apparently the microwave is known to start fires and Kitchenaid never sent us notification. Now our front burner on the stove is having excess gas and conducting mini explosions. We have had to repair the dishwasher multiple times as well. What garbage! I cant believe all of the reviewers who have the same problems and the KitchenAid does nothing to correct the flaws in their appliances. Never, NEVER AGAIN!

We have a KitchenAid refrigerator. This refrigerator is less than 5 years old. It started having problems keeping the correct temperature. Called my service guy, he comes out, checks it out and states it has a freon leak. This involves the sealed system, a repair he does not do. Whirlpool was called and this issue was discussed. An authorized service provider from Whirlpool was sent out and yes it is a sealed system leak but he does not do sealed system repairs. I pay him his diagnostic fee. Called Whirlpool again and another provider is sent out to ascertain that yes it is a sealed system problem and guess what I get to pay another diagnostic fee. Whirlpool stated they sent out the first provider because they are on the List. Somehow this appears to be my problem that they sent out a company that doesnt do the repair that was clearly the issue per my appliance guy. I called to see if Whirlpool would cover one of these fees but nope. I wasted one hour and five minutes on the phone and got zero satisfaction. I also want to add that this repair parts and labor are covered under warranty so it seems doubly ridiculous that I have to pay two service fees. I looked and looked at gas ranges - I was very excited to be able to use gas again. I selected this Kitchen Aid stove and was not told that the central oval burner, which I paid extra to have, would not provide more than a low flame. You buy the whole 5th unit for just pancakes only! The self-cleaning oven will not clean the sides of the oven, only the pan over the burner. The little top oven is meant only for warming, not baking or cooking because it cooks so unevenly that toast, food and cookies are done on the glass side and burned on the back side. I have had KA service people out twice and they say that thats the way it is and that it registers 350 degrees when checked. I could have bought an oven for less than 1/2 and had a better oven. Then I looked at the oven and there was a pile of glass on the floor. Since oven was out of warranty, we had an appliance repair done by local professional. I will never buy another KA large appliance.

I live in a new housing development. Like many of our neighbors, we purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUDE40FXSS5). We do not use the dishwasher heavily and our water temperature is set to 120 F (temperature is listed as a possible cause of failure). After only a little over a year, the dishwasher started leaking to the point where we had to get it serviced. Our neighbors have had a similar problem, so this is not an isolated case. This is really shocking. I am completely disgusted with the quality of this appliance.

We purchased all KitchenAid appliances the end of 2013. Let me start with the refrigerator. Not even 2 years old and the ice machine went out! And then the water wouldnt work. We had a repairman at our house almost weekly for three months. He finally got the water to work, never the ice and then the entire thing froze up. We waited for him again to come to the house. He said to put a fan on it to thaw it out. Well that worked for a week and then the entire thing went out. The repairman even said that the refrigerator we bought was a piece of junk because he has like 5 calls a week for the same one. Long story short, we waited for another part, the part came in and the repairman said he wasnt qualified to put it in so we had to call KitchenAid for one of their people. One of their people came and took our refrigerator. They said it would take a week to fix. Well 3 weeks later and I still dont have a refrigerator! SO FRUSTRATED!!! I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY STOVE, OVEN AND DISHWASHER! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY KITCHENAID!!!

Model #: KUDS35FXSS3. Purchase Date: 11/26/2011. In the second year of having this dishwasher the motor seized. Also the rack adjusters had to be replaced three times. (This problem is well documented on numerous Internet sites.) On Sunday, August 16, 2015, the dishwasher was approximately one half way through a normal cycle. A very loud buzz was heard and this lasted for a few seconds. Then a pop sound was heard. Upon investigation, the black smoke was pouring out the front of the dishwasher at the top. A very strong electrical burning smell was also present. The electric breaker for the dishwasher was tripped. When the dishwasher was taken apart it was found that the electronic control board (motherboard) had shorted and melted the internal wiring. The dishwasher was deemed unrepairable.

I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher May 2013. HORRIBLE. Within weeks, problems showed up. Wine glasses exploded in top rack, their shards damaging the engine. Food sticks and dries on dishes, requiring hand washing of ALL items first. Plastic mixing bowls melt in top rack. And that top rack, so flimsy, falls off its track at will. When I complained to KA, they said it was my tough luck and, because they dont replace their faulty products, that I should shell out more money for extended service. I did that. And wow, what a nightmare thats become! Horrible and rude technicians come out, late and almost always accusatory: dont use right detergent, dont use right amount of detergent. Today, the guy summarized, Youre having trouble because you dont know how to use a dishwasher. Time to cut my losses and frustrations and look for a reliable appliance, NOT KITCHENAID.

After one year evaporator freezes up. Whirlpool sends out repair man who says evaporator not working, must order parts. A week later replaces thermostat. A week or two later evaporator frozen again. A week later replaces electric control board. Two months later evaporator frozen again. A week later repair man comes out, yes evaporator broken, must order parts. A couple weeks later repair man replaces circuit board. Seven months later evaporator freezes up again. A week later repair guy shows up, yes it is broken. Will need to order parts. It has now been almost three weeks and still waiting on parts. In between waiting for the repair guy or on parts, I have had to unload the refrigerator and manually defrost it every 1-2 weeks. KitchenAid had a very good reputation once upon a time. Apparently they are now getting their parts from the lowest bidder, most likely China. One other reviewer said KitchenAid refrigerators has over 3,000 parts backordered.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerator MOD # KSF26C6XYY04 Low quality - I bought this refrigerator from Sears as a slightly physically damaged product. That didnt bother me. What bothers me is that the cheap plastic draws inside the refrigerator side have all cracked and broken. When I called customer service in a right to work for less state they said that they would replace them, but that if it happened again it was a one time thing. Why I asked? They said the fronts of the drawers are cosmetic? Are you kidding me? You cannot open the drawer without the front on it. Can you open a cabinet without a handle, a front door without a door knob? I am incredibly disappointed with this company. We had a Kitchen Aid refrigerator we bought in 2000 and it was great. This is a $2000 sub par product. Stay away from companies like Kitchen Aid that build low quality products and then dont back up their own warranties. I will not buy from this manufacturer again.

I purchased this stove because it had a very large oven and I bake. Two weeks after installation I realized when I leaned up to get something from the cabinet above the stove I turned on burners, sometimes just enough for a gas leak and sometimes enough to burn my arm. First problem with design. A month later at Thanksgiving the turkey was in the oven and my grandson touched a knob with his arm and actually burned it. Thats how hot the knob. I see were due to a vent directly below them. Second design flaw.Later that afternoon. We realized the turkey wasnt getting done. Oven turned off by itself. Luckily I have a second oven. Very nice competent repairman (outsourced) checked the temperature of the knobs and they came in two degrees under government top number. He replaced an oven valve. This valve was replaced three times before the oven would function without failing. I took these safety and oven problems up with KitchenAid only to be told they were within government standards and be glad I bought a warrant for the oven. Cold, disrespectful and dismissive people. We have the big side-by-side stainless steel model, purchased in 2005 for our new home. We are in the same situation as the previous reviewer. The circuit board was removed and taken for repair. The problem is that the part is no longer available, so they are refurbishing them and must have weeks of backlogged work to do to fix them. We are also waiting on A&E. Unfortunately, they dont give you this information. They say the part is on backorder. Hello, its not on backorder. There is none.KitchenAid and Whirlpool are big companies and they should order some circuit boards because there seem to be an awful lot of unhappy customers losing food and waiting weeks or months for the repair to be done. If you have one of these big units, you can only leave the door open for a couple of minutes maximum. If you need to clean, remove the shelves or drawers and close the doors. Otherwise, the alarm will begin beeping and within days or weeks, the circuit board will fry. This is a known problem and a recall should be conducted to replace the offending parts on these units!

We purchased a Kitchenaid refrigerator 29 CF model KFIS29bbms (french doors upper/ freezer below) for $2500 exactly 1 year and 2 days ago. The ice maker began to operate sporadically 3-4 days ago. Then 2 days ago the freezer quit (although we didnt realize it till last night). Today, we called Kitchenaid - they said warranty ran out two days ago!! They said too bad you are out of warranty! After getting a supervisor on the phone the best we could get was Kitchenaid would pay for parts but we are stuck paying for service call and labor. They said a service man would be out in 3 days.So in the meantime we have moved all of our food to our 13 year old General Electric beer fridge in the garage. The GE still works fine, we paid about $800 for it new back then - so it now has to carry the load for our $2500 Kitchenaid piece of junk. I wish I had read these reviews before making this purchase as it appears many other people are having the problems as us.

I called the company only to have them appease me by sending me a stainless steel cleaner. Needless to say, no cleaner is going to take the spots away. I own an entire set of KitchenAid appliances. I am writing about our range, which I tried to self-clean for the first time on December 23. Dont you know that the oven shut down, and door is locked, and control panel is dead? I contacted KA to see what their remedy was. They are sending out a repairman, but will only cover parts, not labor. I was ticked off. I had a turkey to cook for Christmas and visitors are coming to stay for a week. It’s completely absurd to not have an oven to use. I asked the guy on the phone if there had been other issues reported on the same self-clean issue. He said no. Then he said that he didnt have access to personal records. Which is it? I am totally in for a class action suit as well. I’m waiting for a technician. It’s way to expensive of an appliance to have a repair 3 years later.

I am writing is regard to several phone calls that were made to get a service call for my dishwasher. I was on elevator string music for 30 minutes from 07:28 to 08:03 AM. At that point I read off numerous numbers to the girl only to be advised to another telephone number and then at that number redirected to the place of purchase, and then to a holding company that has the warranty policy which was issued December 18, 2011 to December 18, 2014. KITCHENAID needs to select better people to handle these calls. I encountered a couple people to be rude and insensitive to the needs of a consumer. The final call finally resulted with an appointment for a technician to appear at my home between 12:00 and 5:00 PM tomorrow. After all these endeavors, I searched the internet and found CONSUMER AFFAIRS SITE. I am really upset that I had not looked before I leaped with KITCHENAID when I read issues with plastic wheels, broken dishes and completely rejected consumers dating back to before November 16, 2013. I counted at least 26 wheel issues of 529 complaints listed. Why wasnt a RECALL issued to correct this obvious and repeated documented poor quality in workmanship? This technician tomorrow should be bringing NEW REVISED WHEELS for this dishwasher. Needless to say - NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID.

I purchased a Refrigerator/Freezer in 2012 for my cottage from a local dealer. Over the last year Ice has built up in the freezer floor and then there is water leakage. I would get rid of the ice build up and then no leakage for a short time and then it would start all over again. In the meantime the floor and side wall of the kitchen which housed the fridge became damaged. I called the dealer and they tried to give some things to do which did not work. Eventually we got the dealer out and they came with a new valve and installed a P trap drain tube. Apparently Whirlpool have known of this problem and never let any of their consumers know.As we are on an Island it cost us a lot of money to get a repairman out to replace this piece. I called Whirlpool and they did not want to discuss it and dissuade they could have sent me a replacement but would not pay for the cost of the work to replace the valve even though they knew for years that there was a problem with this part. After a thunderstorm and lightning storm our power went off. When the power came back on we had no control board lights - none. Oven not working. Called repair man - waited 2 days for new power board and replaced it. Same thing - no control board. Now he says he needs to change the control panel boards because he gets no power out from the power board he changed out that supplies power to the control panel on top. Well about $200 for a board he changed and they want another $400 for the control panel if we decide to order it. Those prices are w/out labor costs. Min $85 just for call out. Even if I replace this part that is no guarantee that the oven will work again. I could spend as much money as it cost me originally to buy it. It was not cheap for the Kitchen-Aide Superb gas range when I bought it. I can remember when people would replace ovens/ranges just because they wanted a newer bigger one. Not that anything was wrong with the one they had, they just wanted to replace something that had already given over 25 years of service and was given to someone else just starting out in life. Where is the quality of workmanship that used to be in the things that we build and buy? It seems like today the young people have been brainwashed into thinking that when something breaks it is to be thrown away and replaced. I guess the manufacturers have succeeded in instilling a real throw away society in our youth. It dont work, throw it away because it will cost you more to fix it than its worth. Rule of thumb should be if something is going to cost you about 50% of what it originally cost to buy it --- then throw it away. They dont make anything like they use to.

I bought a Kitchenaid dish washer (KUDS30IXSS8) based on my experience of decades of reliable, high quality product ownership. If you are reading this, you already know what a complete piece of junk your dish washer is because youre once again repairing the thing. My upper dish rack height adjustment mechanism self destructed after only one year, sending small pieces of plastic into the water flow. Of course they ended up in the food chopper and thus, trashed the blade and plastic shaft assembly. Whirlpool refused to send the part, even though the flawed design from the rack mount is what caused the damaged. They wanted to order a service call, at my expense, or they offered me an extended service plan for $270. The part only cost around $12 from from Amazon. There was plenty of how-to videos on the web to show you how to fix the part, so I opted to fix it myself. The new part looks exactly the same with no structural improvements so Whirlpool continues to put out inferior parts to go perfectly with their inferior products.

Its a beautiful piece of junk! I bought Stainless steel model #KGRA806PSS on January 2006. The first service call was on January 2007; second on January 2008; third on April 2008. Of course, my fourth service call is now past the 5 year warranty. The igniter would click forever and then go out. Three times Ive had the electronic replaced. Oven would preheat, come to temperature then would lose heat and never reheat past 275. I didnt dare use the self-cleaning feature after reading the horror stories of glass shattering or doors locking or burning the electric board out. Anyways, we called KitchenAid and after being told that they never have had complaints about this range, we told them that they should try looking at the complaints registered online. Well, since this would be the fourth service call about the same problem, they would send a service technician out and if its the same problem, they would pro rate a new stove. The service technician just called and said that hes on the way out and did you know that there is a $135 service charge? No, I will not pay the service call, after all Kitchenaid called and set up the call and Im not paying another dime on this $1500 money pit!Buyer beware. KitchenAid is no longer a customer friendly company and they do not stand behind their product. If they resolve this, I will report back but as my husband is on the phone and it doesnt sound promising, you probably will not be hearing anything more on this piece of junk!

The top rack will not slide out and weve found metal ball bearings in the dishwasher that we assume are from the side rails. So frustrating... This is standard use and it is crap. When I called to get it repaired I was told that this type of repair is not covered by the extended warranty and the estimate was 2/3rds. The cost of the dishwasher. I was talking to my mom and she told me Son they will take care of it... They didnt and I told her It is not the brand it used to be. A few days after my dishwasher was installed my contractor noticed that vent [left side facing dishwasher KUDS35FXSS] was wetting inside door of my new cabinet. I contacted Kitchen-Aid. They said I had to contact where I bought it. I called the appliance store & told salesman (Dominic) whats happening. He said hed look into it. After a few days I went to store & asked him what was going on. He said his K-A tech said its probably a bad intake vent. Dominic told me to call the number he gave me to get a serviceman out & just keep the door of my cabinet open when I use DW until tech comes and fixes it. I went home & contacted the service dept. Tech came out. Tech said he felt moist heat coming out from side vent by cabinet. Tech called K-A Tech who told him venting system must be bad for that vent is supposed to takes in air. Tech said he had to order a new vent system & he would be back to install it. Two days before tech came back I opened door of DW & a screw fell on the floor. When tech came to put in new vent system I asked him about screw & he didnt seem surprised. He said it probably came from the insulation. Is that normal? He put new vent system in & left. I put on the dishwasher & about an hour later opened my cabinet & felt the inside of it. It was wet. I called tech again. He came out for the third time. He contacted a Kitchen-Aid Tech who told him to do a diagnostic check. Result is he has to put in a new Control board and dispenser. Now the front light indicator doesnt work. The dishwasher was installed a month and a 1/2 ago and I can only use it with cabinet door open because it is warping my new cabinet and somethings wrong with the dispensers. When youre looking for a dishwasher nothing in the details tells you where vents are. Who would put the vents of a built in dishwasher on side when there is wood cabinets on each side. Now Im stuck with a dishwasher that when used is destroying my cabinet and doesnt take the jet-dry and I have no idea what cycle because light doesnt work. I didnt pay to have a dishwasher re-built I paid for a new working dishwasher. What upsets me also is the appliance store that I purchased it from acts like its not their problem, its the companys. H & H Appliance center is the one who sold it to me, not K-A. I bought a new dishwasher not one that has to be re-built. Please help I dont know what to do. I dont want others to go through something like this. I bought 3 other appliances from him ($4500.00 total) same day I bought dishwasher. I guess I was foolish to think hed make things right. I feel H & H Appliance Center, 909 Rt.130 North, East Windsor,NJ 08520 should hold some of the responsibility. We have a KitchenAid Double Wall Oven purchased at Sears in 2001. Just now, fully out of the ten year warranty. Its model no. YKEBSDB3 and serial no. YK210XXXX.This unit has been nothing but trouble since we got it and we are at the point of replacing it. In Canada, this unit sells for over $3500.00. I never even thought to check consumer reports before we bought because I knew (ha!) that KitchenAid appliances were the top of the line, had an excellent reputation, and felt so lucky that I could financially buy such an excellent set of ovens for the first time in my life. Boy was I ever wrong.I wont go through the litany of issues we have had but they are similar to the rest of the complaints and issues stated previously. We had a Warranty with Sears which has now run out. I have to say the serviceman who does the warranty work for Sears was wonderful and I have no issues with him but, he also disclosed problems with several similar ovens. One easy fix: we have had issues with the door hinges/springs deteriorating and the doors not fully closing, hence the oven not warming. A quick fix is to buy two approximately 1 diameter rare earth magnets and place them on the sides of the door about 3 down from the top so as not to affect the electronic panel. They will keep your door tightly closed.I too, would join in any class action suit against KitchenAid/Whirlpool and will continue to badmouth the company at every opportunity until they had the decency to admit publicly that there are problems with these ovens and offer to repair them free of charge. Thanks for the platform to speak up.

I purchased a second Kitchenaid microwave KMCS1016GSSo after my first one lasted about 11 years. My custom cabinets were built to fit this microwave and trim kit. I purchased the extended warranty coverage although this model received poor ratings. But it fit perfectly into my cabinets. I specifically asked 2 years ago when purchasing the second unit if anything goes out on microwave would I receive a replacement. I was told “yes, we’ll replace the microwave since we don’t repair countertop models.”About 2 weeks ago the lcd display digits started to burn out. I checked online and found this same model is still being produced. I called Whirlpool who’s the parent company to discuss my options since I had 2 more years on extended warranty. After escalation to 3 levels of supervisors I was told they would only send me the depreciated amount of the microwave. The terms state replace or give cash settlement. But I was told at this time they are not replacing the microwaves. This is very upsetting and breach of what I was told when I purchased the extended warranty because this model fits my cabinet and trim kit.
