We recently bought a used KitchenAid stainless steel stove. The control knobs are at the front of the oven and we discovered that they are easily turned on with even the slightest touch or bump. Unfortunately, when working in the kitchen, I did not notice that I had lightly touched the control knob which turned on the High setting. Within minutes the high setting ignited the oil in the pan on a front burner and flames were shooting up hitting the over-the-stove microwave oven. The flames covered the bottom edge of the microwave and the plastic edge melted.Luckily I was able to extinguish the fire, but my house has extensive smoke damage and could have completely gone up in flames. As well, the microwave oven is no longer useable. The stove knobs are a serious safety hazard as they can too easily be turned on with a light touch, a childs hand or even a dog sniffing the front of the stove. We are going to throw the stove out and never buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

Purchased model KFI29PCMS00 three years ago and have had problem after problems. Had to replace the compressor twice, icemaker didnt work. Freezing at the back of the refrigerator. Leaking icemaker. Fridge not getting cold, produce draws both sides broke and now... I cant get my freezer open. Each time contacted KitchenAid... no help. I cant get onto freezer!!! Bought a refrigerator from Habitat Humanity for 100.00, and its still kicking. How did this refrigerator beat out this 3,000 dollar refrigerator? Steer clear from KitchenAid. Do not buy. Buyer be aware.

We purchased this dishwasher (KUDE70FXPA3) and had it installed 6 months later when our kitchen renovation was finished. After one use, the door latch froze and it would not shut. A week later, the repairman came and reset the lock. When we tried to use it again a few days later (not used in the interim), the latch was frozen again. Out came the repairman with a new latch. All seemed well until the unit started to leak from the lower right side. The repairman cant explain it but is ordering a new seal. KitchenAid did extend the warranty for another year for free as we have only used the machine for six months and have been helpful, but I think it is a poor design. It is also supposed to be able to support a wood cabinet face. The springs are so weak that it barely holds it up. The repairman says it is the same with all of them. We bought this unit, our third KitchenAid dishwasher, because we loved the first two. Suddenly, there is a real quality problem and I would not be likely to buy another KitchenAid unit in the future. The customer service has been good but I really have little faith in the product. It seems like KitchenAid is experiencing the General Motors Syndrome. Hopefully, like GM, they recognize the problems and get back to building quality products. I still love our KitchenAid stand mixer.

Ive had my double oven for about 18 months. Ive had repairmen out twice, once under warranty, and once not. Now I have a new problem. I tried to clean the oven and it says feature not available. I unplugged it and tried it again. This time the process started, but about a minute into the clean, it stopped and said feature not available. This is maddening. I bought a KitchenAid refrigerator at the same time and that had to be repaired about 3 months ago, again out of warranty. These will be my last KitchenAid products.

I am writing on behalf of my parents who have had nothing but problems with their refrigerator from day 1. The model No. is KSC23C8EYY00, serial no. HR14140633. The refrigerator was purchased 2/24/2012. From the very beginning the doors have not been aligned. We have had service people in and out adjusting the doors for the past almost 4 years on 2/24/16. Water leaks on bottom of refrigerator due to the doors not closing properly and fruit flies continuously coming in and end up dead and accumulating at the bottom of the refrigerator. Your service representatives have been here for the past four years trying to resolve this problem and nobody seems to know what theyre doing as we end up with the same problem, having to call you again. We have a folder with all the service calls. From day one we have dealt with this problem. After several calls the first year and your techs not able to repair the problem, the constant annoyance of the door light on due to doors not closing properly, my mom asked your tech to take the refrigerator back at which time he informed her it was too late. I live in Texas and was made aware that your technician advised her it was too late. I made the very first call shortly after it was delivered. Here it is four years later and I cannot believe it has not been resolved. A technician was scheduled to come by last week and we were informed he was in auto accident. A week has gone by and no one has called to reschedule. I just called and someone will be by tomorrow. I spoke with your representative, Erb, who was very helpful. He is sending someone tomorrow. The refrigerator has water right now with flies laying dead in water. My mom was going to clean it up as she has for the past four years. I told her to leave it alone so that your tech can see whats going on. The last tech about 4 weeks ago said he fixed it. Obviously not as you have not been able to from day 1. This is pathetic that my almost 90-year-old parents have to deal with this. At this point, we are requesting a replacement. My parents bought an expensive refrigerator which has turned out to be a nightmare. If you check your records you will see how many times you have been out for the same problem. I am attaching a receipt of purchased product. A response as to considering a replacement is greatly appreciated.

Bought this built in fridge 2020. The doors slam so hard it will catch a finger or push you in the back as you load groceries. Also it gurgles so loud it annoying when you have any company. After several calls to KitchenAid they sent our service to replace springs, better but not great. They say no remedy for the gurgling. Unbelievable....This is a $9,000 fridge. Do not buy this, it’s junk.

KUDS35FXSS 8 is a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that has an obvious design flaw. We had a similar style KitchenAid at our last house which was a good product. When we built our new home we got the next level up. In less than 1 year, 3 of the small plastic pairs of clips that hold the wheels on the upper rack broke off. Today the dishwasher would not go into wash cycle and after watching a how-to video I found 3 of the little plastic triangle clip parts in the food chopper. One was wedged against the chopper blade. I removed it and the dishwasher works again. I wired on the top rack wheels with stainless steel wire. The lady at the service center said that they hadnt heard of the problem. We bought it a few months before installation so nothing was going to be covered. A friend just had the same rack breakage issue and several people on this site say so too. CHECK THE SMALL PARTS WHEN YOU BUY!

I am 68 and have never had such poor service from a company. Bought a Fridge, loved it. After six weeks ice was not working. Waited two weeks to get someone to come fix. Why replacing ice maker, touched a bare wire and shorted out the whole refrigerator. Called service for replacement. Was told this fridge was back order. After talking to two people they finally agreed to upgrade to one they had in stock. Waited week and half to get new one. Delivered it but it had a large dent in freezer drawer. They refused to leave it while I wait on new one. Waited another week and half for another one. The morning of delivery they called and said we would have to reschedule because he couldnt get a eighteen wheeler to my house. I live on a state highway with plenty of room to pull over, I have a paved driveway and a side street beside me. Trucks can and do stop. After I became very angry they finally deliver new one the next AM. Six weeks without a fridge in South Tex in the middle of summer.

Our double oven KEBS207DBL8 is approximately 10 years old, and we have had nothing but problems with it. The electronic touch control pad has gone out on it, in its fourth year. The upper cooling fan has been replaced, the front door has been replaced, and currently, it sounds like a diesel truck idling when the unit is turned on. Our Kitchenaid appliance is not the quality product we expected when purchased, and we will certainly avoid all Kitchenaid products from here forward.

Our dishwasher is 3 1/2 years old. 4 of the 7 sections of the silverware baskets are useless because the bottom plastic grid has disintegrated. We replaced the motor last year because of plastic debris. I called KitchenAid after leaving a message on their website that was not returned with a response. Today I called and talked to 4 different people. The first one couldnt help me with a replacement unless I bought a new one; he transferred me to another but her computer wasnt working and she transferred me to another who took the info again and put me on hold. Another person answered as if I had not talked to anyone and offered to sell me a new one. I told her I thought KitchenAid that they should replace it and I had photos to prove my claim. She hung up on me. The total time was almost fifteen minutes on hold. So, I guess Im out of luck and will NEVER purchase KitchenAid or Whirlpool (who bought them) ever again.

We bought our KUDS301XWH6 dishwasher in the spring of 2012, and we have had nothing but trouble. Two wheels on the top rack have broken off, and the control panel only works when it wants to. Even flipping the switch on the circuit breaker doesnt work most of the time. Like others, we bought this *more expensive* machine because we wanted to buy an American-made product, and because we grew up with KitchenAid dishwashers that lasted, problem-free, for decades. KitchenAid is coasting on the reputation earned many years ago, but their reputation will change as more people learn of their current line of shoddy, overpriced products. We will never buy a KitchenAid product again.

Purchased KitchenAid Architect Series II, 5 burner gas freestanding stove with double ovens. Within 5 weeks, the paint started bubbling, cracking and flakes were falling off, this was on the panel where the burner knobs are located. Called and repairman came out and looked at it and called in for instructions on what to do. We were told by him, numerous phone calls to kitchen aide and supervisor, Sorry, the stove is only covered for 30 days for cosmetic problems. Ok, I say, your paint is defective or application was not right. I cannot believe you would not fix this problem, when it is obviously defective. I have had appliances for many, many years and never had paint bubble and come off as this has, especially a brand new appliance. The stove looks horrible, the whole control panel is now gray steel and your company will not fix an obvious problem with your product. I will never and tell others not to buy KitchenAid because you do not stand behind your products that obviously has a problem. I can buy a new control panel for $100 and replace it, but after spending the amount of money that I did for your product, that is another slap in the face.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerators Model KBFC42FTSOO - Shame on you KitchenAid. I have several media contacts and once they report on all this I am hopeful that consumers will boycott your product. I also bought a 6300.00 refrigerator from the Great Outdoors in 2011. They were closing and since Sears owned them I purchased a floor model that was on display in a cabinet but had no power on to it. So I figured I saved 1100.00 between the brand new one. Wrong, I was told by the salesperson that it was a new model but when it was delivered and I tried to register it, it was manufactured in 2007. I called the store and Sears but since my receipt was stamped no refunds or exchanges they got me good. So now 3 years later the damn thing never worked right from the start and I have called it a piece of ** from the beginning. Guess what, my control panel out!! They do not have the part, tsunami story told and then broken contract with other company. I immediately called KitchenAid because I could not believe what this Tech was saying. Either I find an outside company with a rebuilt Control Panel or I can wheel the refrigerator to the side of the and basically its junk. KitchenAid confirm that they did not have the part and that the manufacturer was destroyed in the tsunami and the other company that has been listed several of these others complain are no longer is willing to make the control panels for them. I might have a chance of them rebuilding one for me directly and proceeded to provide the phone number for me which was wrong having to call them back and spend another 30 minutes on the phone. Another woman gave me two different phone numbers, none of them worked as well. After the third phone call I was provided with a company name and phone number they gave me that will certainly sell me a rebuilt one. I just paid $1200 for a rebuilt board. Interesting enough this company is offering a 10 year warranty on a rebuild control panel however KitchenAid only offers a one year warranty. I am sure kitchen Aid knew there was problems with this board for years. They should have recalled that or extend the warranty. I have never heard of a company not having a part in to be able to fix these refrigerator when people have paid so much money for them. Unless you have a money tree in your backyard and are able to pick enough for a new $8500-$10,000 refrigerator which I do not. They should stock the part and be able to control the market from other outside companies hiking it up prices to their desperate customers that just need their refrigerators fixed, realistically the part probably cost about $2.00 to make. I called KitchenAid as well, they said theyre putting in my case up for review to do the prorated. Its changed. From what Ive heard $1500 doesnt equal $6000 and these parts are not that expensive to obtain. This is absolutely the most hideous thing Ive ever seen a company do. This is the United States. This is a huge corporation. I hope everyone never buys a KitchenAid product again. Why would anyone in their right mind take $1500 for refrigerator thats worth more so we have no choice but to go to outside venues for these parts? Again outrageous, ridiculous and the most disgusting thing a manufacturing company can do. If they’re so willing to cough up the prorated amount why dont they do the right thing and at least split the cost of the part with the consumer if theyre giving them willy nilly numbers of outside companies and not controlling the market. Why would a company offer a 10 year warranty and not the manufacturer? I have purchased KitchenAid products for years. My whole kitchen is full of this top-of-the-line series. I will be slowly changing every single KitchenAid product out of my kitchen and if I am going to spend the money on that type of product itll certainly be Sub-Zero that offers a 12 year warranty from top to bottom on the refrigerators. There are hardly any bad reviews about Sub-Zero. KitchenAids competitors seems like they at least know how to stand behind their consumer. Shame on you KitchenAid. This is disgusting. Oh by the way, the tech Whirlpool factory care that KitchenAid called for me cause if I used someone else, my what little of a piece of junk warranty is left would be void. Charged me $145.00 for call and removal of board and oh by the way I have to have him reinstall the board for another $145.00. Cause warranty on motor and compressor will be voided if I reinstall. Pissed off!!

On June 12, 2004 we bought four appliances from your business which at the time totaled $5,200.33. During the first year and beyond we had problems with the fridge with too much cooling on both sides. After numerous calls and service calls to troubleshoot and repair the fridge, Whirlpool agreed to scrap and replace with a similar model on 12/28/05 (see attached). Unfortunately the same problem has now occurred again with the replaced refrigerator. I appreciate that the item is no longer covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee as it was bought/replaced six years ago. However, the Sale of Goods Act 1979 makes it an implied term of the contract that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. As the item has broken down well in advance of its normal life expectancy and has not been misused in any way, we regard the item as being of unsatisfactory quality in respect of its durability. I am, therefore, asking you to repair the item free of charge or to replace it with a similar model/finish, and more importantly one which is working properly. I want either a repair or replacement model (similar) that works well and as advertised. As a result of the problem fridge, we have thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of perished foods over the years.

After reading the above comments, I should have thought twice about buying a KitchenAid. My ice dispenser stopped working. I had purchased the extended warranty and the repairman replaced the motor but discovered it wasnt getting any power. The user interface had malfunctioned, and guess what? The factory in Japan that made them isnt doing so anymore. Sounds familiar? My money for the warranty was refunded and I was told I was basically out of luck. After many phone calls between KitchenAid and the warranty company, I contacted the CA Better Business Bureau. There is a Civil Code 1793.03 that requires manufacturers to provide replacement parts up to 7 years after purchase. I filed a complaint with them, but was told I should contact an attorney to see if it would be worth taking them to court. The problem occurred less than 3 years after I purchased the refrigerator from Sears in 2010. I thought I was buying it new, but according to the warranty company, it was made in 2008. In short, avoid buying appliances from Sears and stay away from KitchenAid!

I purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for mothers day in 2013. My refrigerator worked for about a year, and since that time I have place 6 service calls. Yes, I bought the extended 5-year warranty for $300, but thats a joke too. My refrigerator has made loud humming sounds, the ice melted, and I lost all the contents of the freezer and refrigerator. The ice container has rust in it (company wont replace), and when I called for service like today, they say Oh we can get there in 2 weeks. After reading all the complaints on this site, KitchenAid must know that its customers are not happy. I will never buy KitchenAid again.I am surprised that in an industry where customer service is king (or should be), this company cares so little about its customers. I would be willing to entertain a class action lawsuit on this company for selling faulty products. I too have to take time off of work every time the repair man comes out. I think its time this company be held responsible for the products it sells. Is there a lawyer our there that can help the little guy who just wants a refrigerator that works?

After a few months of use, the side of the maple cabinet next to the dishwasher began to turn black and we noticed it getting hot when the dishwasher was being used. We uninstalled the dishwasher and noticed the panel was delaminating opposite the vent on the dishwasher. We called for service and they looked at the problem. And after they called KitchenAid, they said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and the vent could not leak steam because it was only open when the water was filling to vent the pressure and because of the weight of the small plastic door, it could not let steam out. We are in a new condo and wanted our new refrigerator to be counter depth. I always thought of KitchenAid as a high end brand than other manufacturers and they made a counter depth stainless steel refrigerator. The cost was a lot more but we thought we would get a quality product. In less than 3 months outside water dispenser came on each time we used the ice maker. The outside water ran for a short time each time. Because of the worldwide Corona virus we were not willing to call a repair person to come into our home. Each time the water would run down the front of the stainless steel refrigerator and I would wipe it up. In spite of polishing it the stainless steel door on the freezer side became stained with watermarks. Over a couple of months of polishing the the stainless discolored looks rusty.a It is not yet a year old.We called a repair person three weeks ago and we are being told the ice maker will be replaced under warranty. I plan to contact the store we bought this and ask for the front doors to be replaced or the refrigerator to be replaced. We live in Mexico and bought this at a well established store with a great reputation. Friends of ours bought a different brand refrigerator and the stainless steel is much heavier and a better quality. I have also compared the stainless on the front of other refrigerator manufacturers and many are more superior to the KitchenAid. What has happened to the KitchenAid brand? If I could rate my experience lower than one star I would. BUYERS DO YOUR HOMEWORK. ITS NOT WORTH BUYING A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR.

We have been in our brand new house for six weeks now with our upgraded KitchenAid appliances and have used the dishwasher less than 10 times. Last week lights started blinking, called KitchenAid and they had me press some buttons, unplug for a while and then referred me to a local authorized service center. Repair person came out, did exactly what I did, wrote some notes and told me he would have to have KitchenAid authorize the order of a control board. Really????? I waited a week for the technician to do exactly the same thing KitchenAid had me do? Now it will be another week before the part comes in? Hugely disappointed in this product. I had my previous dishwasher (GE Profile) in my other house -- also brand new -- for 14 years with NO problems whatsoever. Very disillusioned with KitchenAid right now.

This Kitchen Aid gas range was less than a month old when the first stuck and shorted key message popped up. The oven would spontaneously try to turn itself on at random times. I had to keep it unplugged when not in use. Then it got so I couldnt turn it on. After four repair sessions (thank God I had protection plan), they replaced it. My biggest mistake was getting the same oven!! How could I have been so stupid. Less than a month after getting it, the oven timer would try to go on and it would keep beeping. Then when I tried to start baking temp, it would only go to 6 degrees and I couldnt push any other buttons. The thing is a piece of crap. AND I have wasted countless days on the phone with SEARS and waiting for the repairman. No more Kitchen Aid for me. So frustrated....

Our experience with Kitchenaid has been a disaster. Their response? Complete indifference. My wife and I bought $10k worth of appliances less than two years ago. The first to fail? The dishwasher routinely flooded the floors. After the 4th repairman came to our house our dishwasher was replaced. The first two repair visits the repairman suggested maybe we were putting our dishes in the unit incorrectly and the second time he said maybe we were using the wrong soap. Really? Our wall oven has required two visits from repairmen to recalibrate the controls because when it said 350 degrees it was actually 250 degrees. Now the unit wont get out of the preheat stage. And now after spending Friday morning away from work to have $750 worth of replacement parts installed by a repairman, the refrigerator is broken again - including water all over the floor. We did purchase an extended warranty with the products through Best Buy. EVERY TIME we call Best Buy they do their best to point the finger at Kitchen Aid and Kitchen Aid responds with a we could care less about your problem.” So whats next? We continue to get our appliances fixed (that is until they break again) but we need help with getting Kitchen Aid and Best Buy to care.

Service tech says it cause by hard water (we had an LG dishwasher in the same spot, same water for 9+ years, no problems but its the water!!!). So Whirlpool want to charge for a service technician to come out to look at the dishwasher that under warranty!!!! So whatever you do stay away from kitchenaid/whirlpool dishwashers!!!

YKERS306BSS - purchased within the last year. The oven randomly shuts off and will not work, nor will the oven panel. The only way to restart the oven is to pull the unit away from the wall, unplug it then plug it back in. Unfortunately this is not a viable solution for our 91 year old mother. We cannot find anything in the manual to help solve the problem. It would seem from the website that this is somewhat a common problem.

Bought a KitchenAid model # kffs20EYBL00 in 2012. This refrigerator has given me nothing but grief since 2012. I bought an extended warranty on this refrigerator and glad I did, have had to use it numerous times. The back of the freezer will freeze up, makes this running noise that sounds like a motor is running and the upper refrigerator isnt as cold as it should be. They have had to repair this 5 times in 2012 to 2013. 2014 and 2015 probably 2 times and now 2016 we are getting repaired once again. I am very frustrated with this refrigerator. I not only have had issues with the freezer, but the shelving in this refrigerator is junk.I have had two shelves break so far. Its just junk! I dont recommend KitchenAid anymore. Maybe in the 80 and 90s this was a good brand but not any longer. Looking at buying a new one, hate too since this one cost me of $1600.00 and 4 yrs of grief. Stay away from KitchenAid and Whirlpool. They are made by same company from what I have been told by companies I am looking at for a new refrigerator!

We purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher 1 year ago. Worked fine - quiet, clean dishes, etc until 9 months into the purchase. I began noting peculiar smell and dark scum near drain at front right corner. Store informed me that the drain line that went into the new garbage disposal under the sink may be too low. We raised the drain hose to be above and this seemed to work for a couple of days but the swampy odor has returned as well as a chalky haze on some of the dishes on the lower rack. I am now told that the problem may be in the control panel. Really?! This is too new an appliance to have this type of problem. I do not think Consumer Report truly assessed the quality of workmanship when they recommended this dishwasher.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF2
We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUDS530IXBL4) for $730 in 2011. By June of 2014, it had to be repaired 3 times and the 4th time the machine wouldnt start, I decided not to fix it anymore. The control panel was faulty and the 3rd time it broke, KitchenAid paid for the replacement control panel but not the labor. When it broke again just 5 months after it was replaced, I decided not to fix it again and buy a new dishwasher (Bosch) and write this letter. The salesman claims that Kitchen Aid knew the control panel was faulty but didnt change it.

We have a KitchenAid Double Wall Oven purchased at Sears in 2001. Just now, fully out of the ten year warranty. Its model no. YKEBSDB3 and serial no. YK210XXXX.This unit has been nothing but trouble since we got it and we are at the point of replacing it. In Canada, this unit sells for over $3500.00. I never even thought to check consumer reports before we bought because I knew (ha!) that KitchenAid appliances were the top of the line, had an excellent reputation, and felt so lucky that I could financially buy such an excellent set of ovens for the first time in my life. Boy was I ever wrong.I wont go through the litany of issues we have had but they are similar to the rest of the complaints and issues stated previously. We had a Warranty with Sears which has now run out. I have to say the serviceman who does the warranty work for Sears was wonderful and I have no issues with him but, he also disclosed problems with several similar ovens. One easy fix: we have had issues with the door hinges/springs deteriorating and the doors not fully closing, hence the oven not warming. A quick fix is to buy two approximately 1 diameter rare earth magnets and place them on the sides of the door about 3 down from the top so as not to affect the electronic panel. They will keep your door tightly closed.I too, would join in any class action suit against KitchenAid/Whirlpool and will continue to badmouth the company at every opportunity until they had the decency to admit publicly that there are problems with these ovens and offer to repair them free of charge. Thanks for the platform to speak up.

Purchased a Kitchen aid dishwasher on 01/21/21 to replace a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that did not last 3 years. Was not what I wanted but beggars cant be choosers. Model number KDFM404KPSO, the first issue was that it smelled like an oil refinery when operating, and still does. Called the manufacturer, and was told oh that is the material they used to help with heat retention. It should dissipate in 6 months or so. Believe me that this smell was/ is nauseating. Second issue was the noise level. It was touted as one of the quietest on the market, believe me it is not. It was making noises that the service rep sent to check it out could not explain. Now scheduled for a complete rebuild after less than 2 months.Third issue. It does not get some of the dishes dry especially on the top racks, and yes we use a drying agent. Both kitchen aid dishwashers have proven unreliable, but at least while the old one worked it did not stink up my kitchen, and you could not tell it was running when standing over it. Will NEVER buy another product made by this manufacturer, and they make several different brands.

I had a KitchenAid Dishwasher KITCHENAID CLASSIC SERIES KUDC10IXSS installed in February of 2012. I live alone. I run the dishwasher two or three times a week. This unit has failed on me repeatedly. It failed while it was under warranty, then it failed again right after the warranty expired. KitchenAid took care of that repair, but that repair failed again today. This units control system is faulty. I dont know if it is a design or manufacturing issue, all I know is that if you are going to spend your money on a major appliance, KitchenAid is not the brand to spend it on. I doubt I am alone with this problem. I believe a class action lawsuit should be filed against KitchenAid and that purchasers of this product should be provided with a five year parts and labor service plan at no cost.

Purchased two KitchenAid (owned by Whirlpool) under-counter refrigerator/freezer drawer units for a remodel. Both had issues from day one. I called Whirlpool, and they scheduled their choice of tech to come look at the units. After the third tech visit the unit started leaking. After the 5th service call (they came out 7 times before it was fixed) for the leak I had to go out of town and while I was gone my buildings maintenance team entered my condo and found that the unit had been leaking again and ruined the wood flooring. I filed claim with Whirlpool. They promptly denied any wrong doing and blamed Panasonic for a faulty part. Because I did not keep the faulty part, how was I to know to keep the faulty part?? Panasonic is denying the claim saying, How can we prove it was their part that caused the damage! How about all the notes from the multiple tech visits to try and fix the POS I bought!? Also, how is it that Whirpool can push blame to Panasonic and not have to take ownership of the problem??? Its been over a year that I filed with them. Whirlpool wont answer or return any calls. Total BS. I will not buy any of their products again and I will let everyone I know about this issue!

Refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY03 just a year old. Problem with ice forming behind bottom drawer in refrigerator section. Needs a new fan and thermistor. After waiting for parts and then put on the service schedule, the repairman came but had the wrong part. Now, again waiting for the part and to be put on the service schedule. Without a refrigerator for three weeks. Also, the fan is encased in styrofoam held together by tape. No wonder there is a problem. Also the reviews for the repair company sent by KitchenAid were not favorable. I found this out firsthand.Updated on 03/10/2016: In August I had ice built up behind the drawers in the bottom of the refrigerator. KitchenAid replaced the fan and thermistor. Seven months later, same problem. KitchenAid denied any problems with these parts.

Nice arrangement of racks and silverware holders. It fairly quiet but not silent for sure. Purchased in about 2002. Only complaint is that the dishwasher sometimes leaks. Had a plumber here a bunch of times and Ive arranged dishes differently a bunch of times and neither the plumber nor I can figure whats causing the leak so I mop up with towels when it happens.

If you are ok with spending over $800 every four years, good for you, but I am not. I called repair people in my area and they said the minimum cost to repair is 400. KSSCA 42QMS03 built-in refrigerator-freezer - Builder Centex (now a Pulte division) installed this optional upgrade appliance in March 2007 for $7000. Now, appliance is not cooling enough in freezer and almost no cooling in refrigerator; has flashing indicator lights; and has intermittent low fan noise. Repair tech said KitchenAid does not carry replacement for defective Main Circuit Board because Japanese factory for the board was damaged by the tsunami during the large earthquake that destroyed nearby nuclear plant, so customers have to wait till 2020, per KitchenAid, for KA to have replacement circuit board again. That tsunami was in March 2011 -- more than 4 years ago; how long does it take to have another company make that circuit board? Or does KitchenAid not care about its obligations to its customers for prompt availability of replacement parts? In reading the other damning reviews on this website, I am getting a clearer picture of the poor accountability of this manufacturer. What I do not understand is that Whirlpool, a highly regarded brand in appliances, is apparently allowing their upscale KitchenAid brand to languish in poor management practices.

I have had this Electric range KSEG950E for about 2 years and have had major problems with its self-cleaning technology. For starters, it simply doesnt work, even after repeated cycles. Cleaning out the water after the cycle is finished is tiresome. And the side and back panels never come clean. Its nearly impossible to scrub out these areas, as you can only use nonabrasive pads, and the oven is so deep, you cant reach in far enough to clean effectively. Even soil on the reachable areas is a challenge to clean, using only the recommended non-scratch scrubbing sponges and fresh kitchen appliance cleaner (the addition of which is recommended for hard to remove soil).Im not a heavy oven user and have tried to clean oven at the slightest sign of soil build-up. Once more, being 5 7, Id think that reaching around inside the oven to scrub should be easy. But after the lengthy clean-up sessions, I hardly need to go to the gym for exercise! Surfing the net, I see that Im not the only very dissatisfied customer! It may be good publicity to have low-energy cleaning technology. But if it doesnt work well, it cant earn high marks for the company.

We moved into a newly built house and just as previous reviewer (Emma of Chester) we purchased KitchenAid appliances based on reputation and we prefer to buy American-made when possible. After 16 months of use, our microwave displayed error messages to open/close door and soon the microwave went black. We hadnt purchased an extended warranty because we expected a better product. Unlike Emmas microwave which had control panel on the bottom, ours is on the side. I feel KitchenAid cannot successfully design a venting microwave to install over a cooktop. For convenience we are replacing it with the same and an extended warranty for over $700. In the future we will always consider taking the extended warranty for any product. We purchased in 2008 all of our kitchen in KitchenAid appliances. The biggest problem is with our microwave. We have replaced the grill cover twice. We replaced this product last in May of 2013. We also put in a new control panel because the panel would not work. That’s when I replaced the cover. Today is June 14, and they put my new panel in. When the technician handed me the grill cover, one of the clips had broken again. I called customer service, and they told me they could not help me because the warranty had expired. I told her this was the second grill I had purchased. They are $113 plus change, and I will have to buy another one.I told her I would like to talk to the President to tell how much trouble this product is, and that they need to fix it. I know $100 dollars to some people is nothing, but to me it’s a lot, especially if you purchase this all the time. My wife wanted KitchenAid because they were supposed to be the best. First time using it, the paint scraped off the top of the control panel from a pan, exposing the aluminum beneath the pan. I replaced the control panel face plate with a stainless steel on so that this wouldnt become an issue again. A few months later, the off button stopped working on the control panel. Yesterday, I opened the oven door and an error code came up telling me that I need to replace the control panel. This will be the third control panel on this piece of ** in 5 years. How pathetic is that! Appliances are supposed to last 20-30 years, not 5, especially after paying $1800 for it. I now know that the KitchenAid name is nothing but marketing hype. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid appliance and strongly urge others to do the same.

We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, even a toaster oven). It has been a disaster since day one. The doors have never aligned correctly (as seen reviewed before) and the ice maker stopped working early on and water ran and ruined my wood floor (as reviewed before). But, the main problem is with the coils in the refrigerator that consistently ice up, allowing no air flow, therefore no cooling (which has been reviewed before). Obviously, this leads to spoiling food, which we have replaced numerous times due to the problem. Now, we keep a thermometer in it at all times, so once we see it start getting warmer, we have to take apart the refrigerator to defrost the ice that has covered the coils. We have had this problem serviced four or five times. Each time replacing various parts... the last time pretty much replacing EVERYTHING INTERNALLY.The service techs admit this is a problem, due to the dual compressor KitchenAid tried to do with this model. Even store salespeople admit it didnt work and has been changed. Well, enough is enough. I want a new refrigerator, not a replacement, not any more service calls. But, I have been told that I need to wait until it fails again, then call customer service again to report the problem. Someone will have to come out again and assess the problem... Should I just leave the rancid food in there for them to take back to KitchenAid with them once they come? Come on KitchenAid... read the file. Its all there in black and white... every single service call. Time to fess up and fix the problem, with a NEW refrigerator.

My built-in side-by-side stopped cooling almost a MONTH ago. I did call a highly rated Yelp repair company but they were honest and said that since it was still under limited warranty I should work directly with KitchenAid. Let me keep it short... Its ugly. KitchenAid is deliberately slowing down service and forcing me to work with someone who has terrible Yelp ratings. In fact I have spent $1,000 with this company and even though he claims to be able to diagnose the issues - KitchenAid tech backs him up - as of today my unit is having the same exact issue. We have replaced a heating coil that required 6 hours of labor (KitchenAid confirmed) and a compressor.I called another service company who indicated it is a simple problem that can be fixed easily. When I called KitchenAid and explained this, the customer service guy actually fought with me...refused to speak to me any further unless I gave him the phone number and name of the other company. They were so concerned that one of their authorized repair companies was questioned that they tried to intimidate me into thinking I was going to lose support. Bottom line - I asked for a supervisor and she was understanding. I begged her to send different service company but she refused. As I write this, my $12,000 refrigerator/freezer is not working, despite KitchenAid forcing me to spend $1,000 with their service person. It also still sounds like the engine from a small commercial plane, even though prior to that it was so silent. And no refrigeration still. And guess what? My service repair person will not call me back. KitchenAid is clearly trying to stall until warranty runs out. I will never buy another one of their products. Purchased from Lowe’s 9/21/18 and bought 5 year extended warranty through Lowe’s. Kitchen Aid did not supply refrigerator to Lowe’s until 11/15/18 (they said they weren’t ready to manufacture that model until then). I noticed first of August 2019 (8 months after delivery) that the long deli drawer (under the crispers) was not shutting completely on the left side. It stuck out like something stuck behind it. Upon checking, I found a block of ice (maybe 15” long by 5” high) behind the left half of that drawer. It was still under Manufacture warranty and they sent repairman from local appliance repair in 8/6/18.They returned 8/23/19 to repair. I had to empty the refrigerator and freezer 24 hours before and turn it off to allow the ice to melt I was informed. I did this. A pain is in the neck of course to relocate everything. The repair was made. 6 months later, I notice the same issue with left end of drawer not shutting. Sure enough, the same block of ice had returned. Called Lowe’s and they had no record of first incidence because that was MANUFACTURE WARRANTY incidence. Was rudely told this would be the FIRST incidence of such issue now that under Lowe’s extended warranty.I am set for yet another Appliance repair store to be here 2/13/20. So I’m sure they will also tell me to empty it before they return for repair! And my fear is this will be a temporary fix just like last time. I’ll be reporting it again in another 6-9 months and eventually my warranty will expire and I’ll be out the money because I have a LEMON!!! I think Kitchen Aid should replace it. I also would like to know if this issue has occurred often with this model. Maybe I don’t have a lemon, but the whole model manufactured at that time (between Sept 2018-November 2018) are faulty???

The GE still works fine, we paid about $800 for it new back then - so it now has to carry the load for our $2500 Kitchenaid piece of junk. I wish I had read these reviews before making this purchase as it appears many other people are having the problems as us.

I have a built in side by side KitchenAid fridge purchased in 2007. The water input valve, part number w10146431 stopped working but the part was discontinued and is no longer available so the fridge cant be repaired. Whirlpools attitude was I can buy a new fridge at a discount. There should be a law that parts have to be available for 10 years so major appliances can be repaired. I think Whirlpool deliberately discontinues certain parts to force consumers to buy new appliances. Based on that thought I would never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

We purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid bottom freezer refrigerator in September 2013. It was fine for a year, but suddenly the PO sign showed up on display board and nothing has been right since then. Upon calling Whirlpool (30 minutes on phone) they suggested we call the repair companies listed on their website. First company we called was Diamond Repair and that guy fiddled around and since he could not figure out the problem, told us that the fault was with the outlet in our brand new built house! Ok, so we called the builder and they looked at it and declared it fine but changed it to a brand new one. Problem continued with the constant beeping and PO symbol on. Then I called Maytag company to look at it and that has been a nightmare. After the first tech left, our water dispenser that was working fine till then, stopped dispensing. They said that maybe it was a coincident that it failed and their tech was not at fault. What!!! They are simply unhelpful. Their techs come out and between the two visits they have changed each and every circuit board, to no avail. Much to our chagrin, whenever I call Whirlpool customer service center, and speak to a manager, they make me repeat the problem, promise me that they will call back and I never hear from them!! One time they supposedly ordered new door for this fridge, but the tech from May-tag came with new circuit boards and did know anything about any door being ordered. I wash my hands off Whirlpool company. The fridge was clearly a lemon. In all the years of owning several refrigerators, this has by far been the worst fridge we have owned but the Whirlpool customer service has been pathetic, to say the least. I will make sure none of my next appliance is even partly owned by Whirlpool!

Our KitchenAid Wine Cooler is in its sixth year and stopped cooling this week. With most refrigeration this age you automatically assume it is just a premature leak of the Freon/coolant which is bad enough. However, the repairman (his trip cost $85 for the bad news) reported it was the evaporator that failed and the parts are already out of production/not available and therefore, the unit will have to be replaced. Whirlpool which owns KitchenAid confirmed the part is not available and that there was nothing they could do for us. Since we would have to replace it with another KitchenAid unit for reasons of fit and appearance, one would think they might do something monetarily for the consumer. Ironically last evening at a New Year Eves party we heard a very similar story involving a failed KitchenAid refrigerator that was only in its third warranty year. KitchenAid/Whirlpool should not be getting away with this fraud-- no consumer expects to junk a relatively new appliance because it breaks. When the class action lawsuit happens, Whirlpool will wish they had done right by their customers.

I had a kitchen remodel done. I decided to replace my Samsung with a KitchenAid. I thought for once in my life I would like my appliances to match. The refrigerator works ok, BUT the noise is unbelievable! It rattles, pops and shakes. I am so sorry I purchased this! I have had service tech, told me that the vibration was from the motor and frame. Used a piece of tape to fix the problem. It didnt work. They sent another tech. He told me that it was the water reservoir. Order a new one and installed it. Noise is worse! When I called KitchenAid AGAIN, the service agent was rude and told me that if they sent another tech out there and the noise was not happening, I would be responsible for the charges. This noise is intermittent, happens maybe every hour or so. I am happy with the other appliances I purchased, but the overall experience with this refrigerator will end my relationship with KitchenAid for good.

Our Failed Kitchen Aid Refrigerator KFIS29BBMS02 Ser#K35102755 - We purchased this refrigerator January 2013. The ice maker went out right away and was replaced on under warranty. Then in 2016 it fell apart. Another ice maker (Two) more actually, new control panel, new compressor. Service Dealer in Omaha tried to fix it 5 times with new parts and recharge the system. Last repair was 1-3-2017. Sent a letter to KitchenAid & Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha. NFM called back and said they could do nothing since we did not buy extended warranty. KitchenAid did not respond. It went hot again this week and no ice and lost frozen food for the 5th time. DO NOT BUY ANY KITCHENAID REFRIGERATORS! They told my service guy that they know they have a problem but my serial number does not apply. If I ran my company this way we would be broke with no customers. Buyers beware of KitchenAid.

I owned a KitchenAid gas stove (model KGSA906PSS) since 2005. The control board has been replaced twice. The first problem I had I could not turn the stove off. The second problem was I could not turn the stove off, had to use the house circuit breaker. The final problem occurred today, I heard a continuous beeping sound in the kitchen and the stove was burning. The control panel was not on, the stove was extremely hot, smoke filled the kitchen and there was a continuous red glow on the back wall, inside the stove. I turned off the main breaker and call New York Bravest. If we were not home at the time our home would have surely been damaged by fire. I also have a nonworking Kitchen Aid (model KHMS155lSS) that has been serviced three times, no heat. Pay close attention to your appliances by Kitchen Aid. PROTECT YOUR FAMILY.

We have had this range since March and it is a huge disappointment! On four different occasions the control panel has blown and shut down the power to the range. In order to restart it we had to reset the circuit breaker. After the second call to service we were told that we should put the stove on a separate circuit by itself. We hired an electrician and had a separate circuit put in for the stove. After the third outage KitchenAid replaced the control panel, but last week it went out again.Next problem is that the knobs and front panel get extremely hot when you run the oven for more than 30 minutes. You need a potholder to turn the knobs. Reported this concern to safety dept. who sent the serviceman again to test the temperature. It was 140 degrees at the knobs, but 160 is the legal heat level. A child could easily burn their hands. Lastly, the AquaClean does not work very well. The edges dont come clean and the large glass door is impossible to clean. There is heavy grease stains all on the glass that cant be removed. This range is not acceptable and is not recommended. There doesnt seem to be any resolution.

So disappointed. Worst fridge Ive ever had, at any price. Its runs so loud that it sounds like a machine gun. Seriously, it wakes me up. In addition, after only two years the ice maker broke. Its only got a one year warranty. I replaced it, and one year, ten days later, it started leaking, so my ice container constantly has a big block of unusable ice in it that I have to break up and throw out. Im not spending $300 annually to replace the ice maker, so I shut the thing off. Ive been making cubes in my $500 fridge/freezer thats in my garage. Kitchenaid obviously knows its an inferior ice maker, or they would warrantyit longer than one year. Its a piece of junk. Never again.

In the past 8 year I have built 2 new homes on the upscale side of the housing market. In both situations I used higher appliances from KitchenAid. For the investment made, I am very dissatisfied with quality of the produce drawers. On both drawers, the chrome deco on the drawer handle has come loose dueto faulty adhesive and both drawers have cracked in the center of the drawer handles. This is something I would expect from a 300.00 refrigerator, not one over 2000 dollars @ builders cost. In addition, I had the ice maker replaced in 6 months due to a faulty board, which is something you as manufacturers are aware of, but failed to advise the consumer. We have replaced the ice maker board and now will address replacing both produce drawers. I must say that after less than one year of ownership and facing the fact that all the other series of appliances are also KitchenAid products, I am waiting for the next problem to occur. I come from a family of builders, both residential and commercial and intend to advise them to consider other upscale appliance manufacturers on future projects. If this letter never goes up the management ladder I am sure I will receive the same reply as my last e-mail, indicating that your Customer Service Department also needs repair. Being an owner of several national companies myself, I am very aware of the damage that can be done by not reacting to a problem, where consumers are involved. Thank you.

It took 2 weeks before the machine was fixed because they had to order the part. I didnt buy any additional insurance thinking that a good dishwasher should last at least 3-5 years. I bought the French doors refrigerator just 6 months ago and right away the fan was very noisy. Now 6 months in the temperature reading shows 125 on the freezer but yet it is freezing everything not just in the freezer but the fridge compartment. Called customer service and they took a week to send someone who just kept saying it’s the computer board. Even a non-technical person like me knew it was a thermostat issue. Takes another 10 days to come back with the new board and installs it and leaves. Nothing changed so I called back and then took another week to come back to test. Admits it’s the thermostat and says will order the part. 3 weeks after still no part and just fake promises, they are working on getting a thermostat. 5 weeks no working fridge and no sign of it being fixed or compensated for it or even replacement fridge. We purchased model #KSS048QTB02 in August of 2009. This was the second 48 KitchenAid built-in we purchased along with all other high-end KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig. Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month. My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

We purchased our Kitchenaid Refrigerator, model # KFIS29BB with great excitement in January 2014. We had done our homework, looked at many fridges and were confident in our choice, having owned wonderful Kitchenaid appliances before. Right away I noticed that it seemed to run a lot, and seemed louder than would be right. Ironically we had also purchased a Kitchenaid Dishwasher which is among the quietest in the industry. By August, the icemaker stopped working. It was under warranty, so the repair team came out. This required two visits, one to diagnose and one to actually repair. On repair day, it took two men four hours. They removed every shelf and bin and replaced the compressor and the evaporator. The repairman confided that he had fixed quite a lot of this particular model. Within two weeks, the ice maker quit again. And this time a loud annoying buzz from the motor began. Another two call repair. The second repair did not require as much time and effort as the first. But within 2 weeks the second repair failed, and the loud buzz was back. The fridge seemed to run constantly, but the temp in the freezer was about 18 degrees, and the fridge, 45. And the buzzing was crazy making incessant. At this point the store agreed to exchange it and we did not purchase another kitchenaid. Im hoping to save someone else the level of aggravation this purchase caused. On a brighter note, the kitchenaid architect series dishwasher rocks!

Our 48 refrigerator has been down for 30 days. They no longer make the CPU to repair it. It took 2 visits to determine this by certified Kitchenaid partners. 2 weeks to file a report and get a call back for a prorated exchange of $6500 to replace our 6 year old unit with a unit that is new but an Old Version. We have now been trying for a week to get the person responsible for our case with no response to move forward. Its now been a month without a refrigerator that cost us 9K to be offered a unit at their cost without any consideration of what we have been dealing with all this time. They are even willing to offer us the newest version of their unit. All together this will end up costing us 15K for a unit that should last more than 5 to 6 years or at least should have parts for them to repair it. WE also spend another dollars a year ago to repair the ice maker. Model number of the unit is the Kssc48qXs. X refers to year made.. Its like spending 3 thousand dollars a year for a refrigerator. Our KitchenAid dishwasher is about 5 years old. I just loved it for the first two years, and then it never seemed to clean the dishes. So I rinsed them before putting them in the dishwasher; then, it didnt even remove the soap. I washed them and then put them in the dishwasher to rinse them. About a month ago, it started to run on its own. It was just the top drawer. I could not shut it off. Now, both drawers will not stop running. I consider this a fire hazard, and this dishwasher should be recalled before someone dies in a fire. My husband is totally disabled and is scared to be in the house in case the thing catches fire. Presently, I cannot afford to replace it. So we have to put up with two drawers full of water, which is beginning to smell. I add a little bleach every day. The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem. They are now available at the consumers expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

We spent $6000.00 for a built-in side by side 48 inches refrigerator. Nothing but trouble with the ice machine. First, it froze up soon after purchase. They sent a appliance person out. He said just break up the ice. How stupid was that? The next appliance person, the water is leaking into the motor of the ice dispenser freezing it up. When exposed, you could see all the frozen ice. A lot of it. No wonder the motor wont work, it was frozen up. When the new part came, it had a new part with it. This rubber washer was to stop the water from going into the motor and freezing it again. Now these motors are not cheap. So this was a design flaw. Here we go again: same problem even with the new rubber washer. It’s frozen up solid. It makes a lot of ice you just can’t get it out of the dispenser. I am sure there are a lot of people that have this same problem. This started before the warranty was out. This is a two years and 9 months appliance. There’s trouble with the ice maker all the time. They just tell you your warranty is out even though they made a flaw in the ice machine design.

The machine has refused to operate properly from day one. We were offered a manufacturers rebate because the prior dishwasher was recalled. The Lowe’s sales woman in Flint, Michigan assured us were buying a top rated machine. As a rule, I can spot bull. Did I ever miss on this one? If you are on Facebook and on my friends list, feel free to block me. If you buy KitchenAid, please remove me from your list.

My husband and I bought this KitchenAid Dishwasher, Model# KDFE104DSS1 Serial# F52627380 in July 2015. It has not been cleaning the dishes properly for the last 6 months. We called KitchenAid and they stated that it was out of warranty and we could buy a new warranty for $350.00 and it would cover the dishwasher for another year. We spent over $600 for this dishwasher and bought it because of the name. My husband took the dishwasher out and pulled it apart and (after speaking with appliance repair representatives and the internet) figured it was the pump motor bearing. He went to the appliance part store and got a new motor, installed it and it worked. How can a dishwasher pump motor break after only 21 months and the dishwasher is only used twice a week? I would never recommend this dishwasher or any other KitchenAid product to anyone. The customer service only wants to sell you warranties.

We built a new home three years ago and installed all KitchenAid appliances. The refrigerator has been a lemon. KitchenAid has not been helpful in dealing with repairs. We have repaired the ice maker four times and finally it was replaced. Most recently the refrigeration system has developed a leak and is not cooling. We were informed that the retail cost of the repair is $3000. If we had not built in the refrigerator and purchased cabinet fronts for the doors we would have replaced this appliance.

In 2010 my wife had her dream kitchen installed, which included all Kitchenaid Stainless Steel appliances. All top of the line. (Sadly, my wife died a year and a half later of cancer) It is now just me, and an occasional child home from college, so these appliances are getting very light use. The freezer on the bottom refrigerator started to fill with ice at the bottom, which destroyed the Cherry floor underneath. This was due to a clogged duck valve, which is a two dollar part. The repairman said that they all do it, and a replacement part that was modified was installed. The damage to the floor is estimated to be over a thousand dollars. The dishwasher has gone through two thermal fuses, and now wont cycle. Im waiting for the repairman as I write this. I will never recommend any Kitchenaid appliance to anyone, and my three kids who are all in the process of going out on their own will not either. My call to Kitchenaid for the refrigerator problem was not only unhelpful, but I ended up at a call center in who knows where. So, avoid this brand. I am so disgusted with the dishwasher that I am ready to have it replaced.
