We purchased a high end KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in 2009, erroneously believing that KitchenAid products were of high quality. Wrong! In 2014 the refrigerator failed and was not repairable. Fortunately we had purchased an extended warranty and it was replaced with a new one, same model. In September, 2019, the replacement failed and was again not repairable. These are junk refrigerators with junk warranties as they do not last long enough to take advantage of repair and parts warranties. As they say, To forgive once is to be human. To forgive twice is to be a fool. Dont be a fool and buy a KitchenAid (Whirlpool) refrigerator.

Ive owned my KitchenAid Refrigerator since 2011. In 2014 I had a problem with water build up on the freezer floor, and it cost $150 for repair. A drain hole clogs up and they have to replace and clean it out. It has been 18 months and it has happened again. Im very disappointed. I never spent repair $$ on a previous KitchenAid Refrigerator.

We bought all new KitchenAid appliances for our new home in late 2011. Two years ago I had to replace the refrigerator after losing the compressor. It was going to be almost $900 to replace the compressor or $1300 to buy a new refrigerator, so we bought a new fridge, but NOT a KitchenAid. Also in 2017 two of the five burner knobs seized up and could not be turned on. Another service visit and about $500 later these were fixed. Now this week I’ve had to call for service AGAIN because two other burner knobs have seized up and cannot be turned on. This will cost me another $400-500 again to get it serviced. I’m seriously thinking about replacing it with an electric range. It takes forever for the oven to preheat and also takes forever for water to start boiling. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KITCHENAID PRODUCT!! They used to be great but nothing but problems now.

Although it was fairly expensive, this is the best microwave we have owned to date. It is mounted in the wall (along with the regular oven) and is extremely quiet. The door opens down like a regular oven door. It is all stainless steel inside so is very easy to clean. You can cook with it as a regular convection microwave or if you want to cook pizzas or something like that, it has an upper heating element and the oven will heat to 450 degrees.

Our kitchen aid refrigerator is just over 5 years old and of course like clockwork, it stopped working. Weve been told that K will pay for a new compressor but the labor will cost $1050. Could that be any more exploitative? When the tech guy was here, he said the labor would be $600 and the part $400...now they changed it to look like theyre being cooperative by saying theyre paying for the compressor but the price is still outrageous because they say the labor is $1050. I offered to pay half of the labor but the answer is no, of course. Really horrible company and product....never again.

We have a Kitchenaid KUDI01FLSS2 dishwasher. It came with the house we purchased six years ago - the unit was about 1 year old at the time. We have had constant problems: touch panel failed ($200), control board failed ($250), heater element failed which required a heater control board upgrade (design defect) ($250), chopper failed three times ($30 ea), door hinges failed, numerous plastic interior parts failed (all are overpriced), the door latch has a fundamental design problem (we have to use a clamp to keep the door from popping open in cycle). I am an engineer and was able to do all the repairs myself which saved hundreds of additional dollars. The dishwasher is a $1000 piece of junk. I would have scrapped in early on if I had only known!

Unfortunately we have several KitchenAid appliances that came with our new house. They are all crap. In our previous house, we had a Samsung refrigerator (which cost a lot less than the KitchenAid) that was well made and worked perfectly. Even though we have a luxury KitchenAid model, the drawers dont fit, the ice maker freezes up regularly and the whole unit just feels cheap. Even our builder does not use KitchenAid anymore. In addition, because they are so poorly made, the company cannot afford to (or chooses not to) fix real issues when they occur. Avoid KitchenAid at all costs.

We bought very expensive KitchenAid Dishwasher including the guarantee. As system works well until now (estimates) 3 years. But we have an annoying problem with the rollers of the upper part constantly are coming out. This part of the dishwasher is very frail and delicate including without any dish appears very heavy for the rails and plastic rollers. Definitely in my opinion is a mistake of design. We call the technician for the guarantee - the answer is no solution. Do not buy this dishwasher.

The freezer drawer was bent and leaking air during manufacture. Ice built-up inches thick, then moisture leaked onto the oak floor. Warranty service takes hours to reach and starts with them saying you must have done something wrong. I purchased an existing house with a KitchenAid Superba stove/cooktop and microwave combo. Everything worked fine for 6 months until I got the crazy idea to use the self-cleaning mode. The oven no longer heats now. I tested the heating elements and they are both fine. I found out that it is most likely the thermal shutdown fuse, a part that runs about $45-$50 online. I can do the replacement myself but as many others have said, I wont use the self-cleaning mode again. For those who cannot afford the cost for a service call, its a pretty easy part to replace - if in fact that is all that went bad during the self-clean. After reading the hundreds of the same complaints out there, I guess I feel lucky that my oven didnt literally explode and possibly hurt my 3 year old. I would be willing to join in a lawsuit, should a lawyer out there be interested.

I have mixed emotions on this as it has been a great dishwasher. Used probably every day for 7 or so years. No problems. Then my wife comes home from walking the dog... she had started the dishwasher 15 minutes before. Smoke was pouring from the top of the dishwasher.... but no lights or sound. Smoke dissipated but really smelled bad. I got home, took apart and the control panel was 1/2 charred. I check the internet and find that a lot of people have had this happen. Its a good thing it didnt start the house on fire. I figured I would just buy a new control panel and wire harness but the wife refuses to have the thing in the house anymore.

We have a (just barely) 3 year old KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer that has been very troublesome. First the ice maker was replaced; then the entire front door of the freezer had to be replaced because it had NO insulation; and now the top shelf in the freezer just exploded as I opened the door. There were only 4 small items on the exploding shelf so it was not too full. When I call the customer service number I waited over 20 minutes to speak with a real person who took down info and then transferred me to another person for whom I had to wait another 10 minutes. I explained that it was like a shot -- a boom sound and then tons of small pieces of tempered glass all over me, my kitchen, and into the adjoining office area next to the kitchen. KitchenAid response was that these things can happen -- seriously??? Waiting to receive a replacement shelf and waiting for a supervisor with customer relations skills to call me back.

I came to this site to see what others are saying about KitchenAid... it just made me angrier but justified my feelings! I, too, purchased ALL KitchenAid appliances for my renovated kitchen. HUGE MISTAKE! The appliances are less than 2 years old. My refrigerator has been broken for literally 3 months today, after MANY calls to KitchenAid and then Whirlpool - their parent company - I have a repair company coming to replace the CONDENSER! A huge job that takes 5 hours.. that is what I was told. The first time they came, they misdiagnosed so I had to make another appointment. The second trip they told me I needed a part. I make the appointment and have to take the day off of work (they wont do warranty work on Saturdays-- they actually said that) so Im waiting for the 12-3 window of arrival. At 11:45 THAT day I get a call its the wrong part... KitchenAid and Whirlpool has been NO help! I cant even talk about the stove and oven!! It just shuts off in the middle of cooking!!!! But yet the gas keeps blasting! So while I think something is in the oven cooking, waiting for timer... it shut off! I am afraid to even use this oven!! Again, no help, no assistance from KitchenAid. The Rep tells me to reset my breaker when this happens... I have no choice BUT to do that but this is not normal! My stove should not just shut off! And the dishwasher??? Please... more of the same! I will never again buy any KitchenAid or Whirlpool product or any product under the Whirlpool company! Nothing but issues since the day they were installed!I heard great things about GE but I wanted KitchenAid... my HUGE mistake. If only I had the finances to get all new appliances!!

My family bought this range as it was one of the few gas stove downdraft ranges that could be installed in the middle of an island. It is pretty in our island but it is a TERRIBLE and I mean TERRIBLE range. The oven cooks uneven so dont even thinking about trying to bake anything. Over the holiday, the only way I could get by without burning the food was to place the thickest part of the leg of lamb towards the back. Not to mention that it probably takes about 30 minutes to even get the oven to 350 degree heat. It is ridiculous that something this expensive would perform so poorly. To top this off, the self cleaning function does not work.I decided to use regular oven cleaner and that was a big mistake. Now the inside of the oven is peeling. I contacted Kitchenaid to see if it was safe to cook and their representatives are basically robots and would not provide me with an answer or anyone else who could help, they just kept repeating we dont suggest harsh oven cleaning products. I think 450 degree heat is pretty harsh, so how can an oven cleaner be worst? HUGE disappointment overall and would not recommend or ever purchase a Kitchenaid product again.

We purchased a dishwasher, microwave, oven and refrigerator from KitchenAid about a year ago and are currently having the refrigerator repaired for the 3rd time for the SAME issue! The fan in the refrigerator (KRFF707ESS01) doesnt work properly which allows ice to form in the back. This means that the drawers dont close anymore and the fan is very loud since it is hitting the ice. KitchenAid customer service has been absolutely useless. Im very disappointed in the product quality and the company and will never purchase a KitchenAid product or any Whirlpool product ever again!

I purchased six appliances when I upgraded my kitchen: refrigerator, range, microwave oven, trash compactor, and beverage center to the tune of $10,000. At this point, I would never recommend KitchenAid to anyone. The microwave broke and the part was never available. After months of arguing, I had to get a new one. The refrigerator’s thermostat went out and they did not make the part. I had to get a new refrigerator/freezer. Now, I ran the clean cycle on the oven and the oven overheated and locked up for the second time. The oven is now not operable and I will have to pay a service man to put in another new thermostat. My research shows over 400 complaints. These ovens are a poor design and the self-cleaning feature cannot be used. In addition, I have had to have the trash compactor repaired. The appliances are 36 months old. And when I call KitchenAid, they really dont care to resolve the issues. Very frustrating!

Most unbelievable experience I have ever had in my life with an appliance (KFGG500EWH2), the other KitchenAid products have been fine? I bought this oven before Thanksgiving on 11-15-17. My wife just noticed now on December 25, 2017 that the top of the oven door and around the controls the white paint is turning Brown?!? I havent hardly used the oven but a half dozen times, a couple of pizzas and the turkey on Thanksgiving. We noticed on day one the stove top was more than just hot to the touch on Thanksgiving...more like untouchable!!! I will check the temperature now to see how hot it is getting. My guess is if it isnt a design defect, there may be some insulation missing in the door and or around the front of the stove top... Im not taking it apart to see why... This is more than disappointing. I will contact the manufacturer and the distributor ABT tomorrow to see what they will do. I have never seen anything like this before, this is the 3rd oven I have owned in my life, and never had this issue. I will post the receipt tomorrow if it lets me append this.

We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher, model KUDE201XSS4 in April of 2012 and have had nothing but problems with it. The first set of issues were fixed with a new control panel but now when I try to start it, it blinks three times and gives me 15 beeps. Sometimes I can reset the breaker (requiring a trip downstairs to the panel) and get it to work. What garbage they have produced. I have never had these type of problems with a dishwasher from any other manufacturer. They need to stand behind their products. And Sears, Greggs, etc. should stop selling KitchenAid until they do.

I have had this side by side, Architect II series for two years. Noted it had developed a few hairline cracks in the liner of the freezer. Purchased two KitchenAid (owned by Whirlpool) under-counter refrigerator/freezer drawer units for a remodel. Both had issues from day one. I called Whirlpool, and they scheduled their choice of tech to come look at the units. After the third tech visit the unit started leaking. After the 5th service call (they came out 7 times before it was fixed) for the leak I had to go out of town and while I was gone my buildings maintenance team entered my condo and found that the unit had been leaking again and ruined the wood flooring. I filed claim with Whirlpool. They promptly denied any wrong doing and blamed Panasonic for a faulty part. Because I did not keep the faulty part, how was I to know to keep the faulty part?? Panasonic is denying the claim saying, How can we prove it was their part that caused the damage! How about all the notes from the multiple tech visits to try and fix the POS I bought!? Also, how is it that Whirpool can push blame to Panasonic and not have to take ownership of the problem??? Its been over a year that I filed with them. Whirlpool wont answer or return any calls. Total BS. I will not buy any of their products again and I will let everyone I know about this issue!

The oven (model # KGRK806PSS01) was put in self clean mode. I came back to the kitchen later and found it had powered off; the oven glass was shattered and hot pieces were falling on the floor. After letting it cool down, I unplugged it. I later plugged it back in; still, it had no power and the self clean oven door latch will not unlock. Oven is completely useless now. The glass and parts alone to fix it are over $450 plus a service call & labor would put it closer to $600. I bought this at Sears about 5 years ago and they referred me to KitchenAid. KitchenAid finally offered to fix it for $370; however the glass is on back-order for 3 months. I see many similar complaints online and judging by the long back order on the glass, Im sure there are a lot of other people in my boat. I reluctantly ended up taking KitchenAids offer and I will not buy KitchenAid again.

KitchenAid Refrigerator KSSC48QMS01 - Do not buy this refrigerator. We bought a home with a beautiful custom kitchen with this KitchenAid refrigerator and its just given us grief. Thank goodness we bought an insurance package to cover appliance repair. After three different repairmen and waiting weeks for parts to arrive, we found out most parts were not the right ones. Finally we got a Sr. tech guy to assess what was going on and we had to have the mother board sent out to be re-done. Well that seemed to do the trick, but 8 months later we are having issues again. Our insurance carrier would NOT insure the refrigerator. We ended up buying insurance from another carrier which should have told us something. We have rented a refrigerator while new parts are being ordered. We have lost several full freezer and refrigerator loads of food. No fun. I have no confidence with this unit ever being repaired. Its built into its own lacquer custom cabinet. Ugh. We now have another rental refrigerator sitting outside on our patio as we wait two weeks for parts. Would I buy a KitchenAid unit again. No Way.....there is no help out there to fix this mess.

I believe the adage is true, things just arent made the way they used to make them. Its 4 years old, the wheels pop out of the top track constantly and weve had some problems with leaking. Maintenance was out to fix a problem within 6 months of owning because the motherboard fried. It went almost a year without working through certain commands. For instance: if you wanted to use the normal or heavy wash cycles, forget it, the machine would only run the one hour cycle. Its just been a pain in the butt. However, it is quite quiet. Especially compared to our last dishwasher. Not as quiet as some, but it is sufficiently quieter than I had expected.

I bought a KitchenAid Refrigerator Model KRFC300ESS01 in March, 2017 when I remodeled my kitchen. It is truly the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. It makes loud noises that a refrigerator should not be making. I have had the repairmen out 4 or 5 times because of loud popping and clicking, vibrating noises and because my food is freezing... not just in one area but all over the place... frozen eggs, fruit, etc. They have replaced one part in the back of the fridge twice and it is now broken again! I am going to give the refrigerator away because it is not worth selling and get one that works and does not wake me up at night with loud noises! And I can guarantee it will not be a Whirlpool product!

We purchased the KUDS201XBL1 in April. To this day, we have only seen the clean light 6 times. We have been through 2 different repair companies, 9 emails to KitchenAid, too many phone calls to count, a new control board, being told to turn up our water heater, being told to run the hot water in the sink every time the machine drains and refills, telling us our pipes are bad, maybe it is the motor, the heating element, the control panel again, etc. What we have determined on our own is that the Pro-Wash & Heavy Duty Cycles will not complete. Normal wash and 1 hour wash will complete occasionally as long as the heat dry option is not on. Currently the latest repairman (an outside vendor who in his defense has really tried to work with the company) is waiting for KitchenAid to get back to him. KitchenAid has already told us our warranty does not include replacement, only repair. Well, at this point, I dont expect we will be getting even the repair had. We have basically paid over $700 for a dish rinser.

We spent $6000.00 for a built-in side by side 48 inches refrigerator. Nothing but trouble with the ice machine. First, it froze up soon after purchase. They sent a appliance person out. He said just break up the ice. How stupid was that? The next appliance person, the water is leaking into the motor of the ice dispenser freezing it up. When exposed, you could see all the frozen ice. A lot of it. No wonder the motor wont work, it was frozen up. When the new part came, it had a new part with it. This rubber washer was to stop the water from going into the motor and freezing it again. Now these motors are not cheap. So this was a design flaw. Here we go again: same problem even with the new rubber washer. It’s frozen up solid. It makes a lot of ice you just can’t get it out of the dispenser. I am sure there are a lot of people that have this same problem. This started before the warranty was out. This is a two years and 9 months appliance. There’s trouble with the ice maker all the time. They just tell you your warranty is out even though they made a flaw in the ice machine design.

Has anyone else been annoyed by what I call a design flaw regarding ice falling behind the drawer? The ice maker drops ice on top of the trigger arm and when the tray is pulled out, ice gets dragged back onto the freezer floor and sometimes bounces out onto kitchen floor. Im dealing with a local business (who sold the fridge to me) regarding the issue. Ive sold hundreds of these and not gotten a complaint. Well, you are now. I have been asked to bring the bin in to see if it is warped or something. Yeesh.

KDRU783VSS-48 in dual fuel range - My 2 1/2 year old dual fuel convection range with steam assist (48 in) caught fire and was non-repairable. I was baking in the smaller oven when I heard a pop. Black smoke started pouring from the front of both ovens. Upon opening the smaller oven door, I saw flames up around the broil elements (I was NOT broiling at the time). My husband commented that it smelled like an electrical fire. We proceeded to cut off the power to the range. Smoke still poured out. We then heard the sound of gas burning off inside the oven (I was NOT using our gas stove top at the time). The stainless steel outside top and sides of the oven were burning hot to the touch. The control knobs were so hot they had become gummy/tacky to the touch. With no end in sight to the black smoke pouring out and the extreme heat OUTSIDE of the oven, we called the fire department. They cut the gas off to the house. The firemans hand-held temperature reading gun (Bullard Thermal Camera) measured over 250 degrees atop the range and along the back wall behind the range. Firemen said had we not been home, the back wall would have caught fire and this would have become a rescue call.KitchenAid sent a repair person to look at the oven. Deemed not safe enough to repair, the spark ignitor box inside was melted, wires crystallized, touch screen displays melted, wall plug charred and melted. After many lengthy calls and emailed pictures, we were given 2 options: get a replacement unit only by paying a participation fee of $2500 or get a prorated refunded due to age of unit (2 1/2 years old). We opted for the partial refund, as this unit is a FIRE HAZARD. To get a different brand, we still were out several thousand dollars, since we were not offered a full refund on a faultily designed range. Funny, because 8 WEEKS later when I finally had a different brand installed, the installer noticed my old unit had steam assist. He said he had replaced 3-4 other KitchenAid models that had burned up - all with steam assist. No one at KitchenAid could tell me anything. There has been no recall. BEWARE: This unit is poorly designed and is a fire hazard!

We purchased this fridge 7 years ago and it is built into our kitchen -- thus not easy to replace with an alternative. It stopped working one week before Christmas. An engineer said that it was the main circuit board that was faulty, We called KitchenAid (Whirlpool) and were told that it could not be repaired and they could not assist in replacing it. They claimed that the company who supplied these boards to them had been destroyed in the Japanese Tsunami and it was not possible to replace them. They actually said to us, You are on your own. How can any responsible manufacturer say such a thing!? Clearly they have no concept of who keeps them in business. They offered 25% off a new fridge (to replace would be $10,000) but would not put this in writing or tell us how we could access the discount. It was impossible to reason with them. In despair we turned to the internet and found 355 similar complaints (all negative) about the same fridge. However, we also found a guy in Florida who said he could repair the board for $120. We had nothing to lose so we sent it to him. He was brilliant, texted when it arrived, texted that he had tested and confirmed it was repairable, texted when he had repaired it, and then texted again to say it was on its way back. Brilliant, all within 24 hours! We fitted it on its return and hey presto, the fridge worked and has continued to do so. So why cant Whirlpool be as caring and offer this service, indeed even work with this gentleman? You can go onto eBay and find the board you need for sale at $1800 (supply & demand!) plus you may also find other similar people who offer to repair the board for around $120. We now have our fridge working again (and have not had to buy a new one and refit the kitchen). However we will NEVER buy a Whirlpool/KitchenAid product again. (They trade under more brand names than just these, so look carefully). Indeed having had a whole spate of other kitchen appliances also break down for various reasons, we have determined to NEVER buy a US-made brand again if we can avoid it. (Marvel are another one to avoid in our view). The only branded kitchen appliances we have that has never broken down is made by Miele and LG. Our kitchen engineer said that this Miele and other German brands (and Korean) are the models they are called out for least. On telling this tale to friends, 3 of them all said that they had the exact same problem with their Kitchen Aid refrigerator at about the same time. One had felt obliged to replace with the same product but 2 others said, Never again with KitchenAid, and purchased other manufacturers. It makes you wonder how any company can stay in business with this level of low quality products and poor customer service. I suppose if you have bought up most of the competition (at least in North America), you can feel that you control the market and thus dont need to care. Complacency is the beginning of most disasters!

For the second time, I have replace the glass turntable, plastic arms, and centerpiece from my Microwave. I use it to defrost bagels, and warm up food, typically no more than 2-3 minutes. I JUST replaced the glass again and after reheating chicken for Easter, I noticed the fan was still blowing and the oven very hot inside. If I open the door it stopped, when I close it the fan starts back up. I left the door open thinking it was a cool down fan, but my boyfriend closed it when we went to bed. When I woke up this morning to defrost my bagel, the glass was crack and turntable parts melted. This has to be the WORST microwave on the market. It works great when it is on, but I have had it. It is expensive. The parts expensive. DONE!

Remodeled our kitchen back in 2007 and, without much research, purchased KitchenAid appliances. Always hearing the name meant upper end, quality products. The wake-up call should have been when I received a warranty extension notices in the mail after only two years. June 2011 both Deli/Crisper pans started freezing everything inside so I called Idlers, the dealer, and they sent out a technician. He told me, after checking with KitchenAid Tech Support, that the circuit boards needed to be replaced. Luckily the rest of the fridge worked cause it took eight visits and weeks to get the parts, and when they came the connectors didnt match up. Tech Support said they could not do anything else, the Idlers technician felt sad for us and actually cut off the connectors and spliced the wires one by one. Now the main circuit board is failing and I hate to think how much this will cost or how long this is going to take to repair. Did I mention this refrigerator cost $5,000 and does not come with outer panels? They have to be custom-made to match the cabinets.

After reading the above comments, I should have thought twice about buying a KitchenAid. My ice dispenser stopped working. I had purchased the extended warranty and the repairman replaced the motor but discovered it wasnt getting any power. The user interface had malfunctioned, and guess what? The factory in Japan that made them isnt doing so anymore. Sounds familiar? My money for the warranty was refunded and I was told I was basically out of luck. After many phone calls between KitchenAid and the warranty company, I contacted the CA Better Business Bureau. There is a Civil Code 1793.03 that requires manufacturers to provide replacement parts up to 7 years after purchase. I filed a complaint with them, but was told I should contact an attorney to see if it would be worth taking them to court. The problem occurred less than 3 years after I purchased the refrigerator from Sears in 2010. I thought I was buying it new, but according to the warranty company, it was made in 2008. In short, avoid buying appliances from Sears and stay away from KitchenAid!

When I updated my kitchen I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2007 and it was installed in 2008. It was serviced once under warranty... smoke coming out of the hood. Since then I have had it repaired twice. Once for the chopper not working correctly. It took the service rep five minutes to fix it and he was embarrassed that he charged me more than $100.00 to fix it. The service advisor was recommended by KitchenAid. Since then I have had to replace the silverware dispenser and now I have to replace the soap dispenser because a piece of plastic no bigger than 1/4 of an inch broke off. The part was 68.00 with shipping 86.00... ripoff... and now I have to pay a repairman to install it. ALL over this piece of plastic. I will never buy a KitchenAid product again.... and hope that lots of consumers read this and follow my advice.

On the day of when it was delivered, the delivery guy, called someone to tell them about the light being white and not blue light on the outside water dispenser. They told me that I should call service about that. Then few days later was getting moisture build up in the whole left side of the refrigerator, where had to wipe it with a towel many times. My old appliances were trouble free, only wanted stainless steel, and matching to my new kitchen appliances I bought from KitchenAid refrigerator, and Whirlpool dishwasher, microwave and stove which are all from the same manufacturer. Blue light is all other appliances, had the service man and told me that tell cant do anything about this. Besides the other problem whereas moisture in whole left side of the French door, ice gets watery where it throw out the ice cubes all stick together, water and ice dispenser on the door does not work too... This is brand new refrigerator and not what I ordered? Told the salesman at HHGREGG that wanted to match all of my appliances..

KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS30FXSS4 - The overall cleaning of this product has been good. However, I have replaced the adjusters on the top rack twice which has cost me $150. The pieces are flimsy plastic pieces that I am sure will need to be replaced again as they have only held up for 1 year each. The inside screws that hold the door together came unscrewed during a cleaning. Thankfully I was home to clean up the puddle that was growing on my wood floors. I am real happy with the performance. Its quiet... cleans great so far. The bad news is that a thousand dollar dishwasher should not have such a poorly designed upper basket. The wheels just broke and several expensive pieces of glassware fell out and broke. Ask me if I am angry...LOL. After reading the many complaints on the design and quality of the parts used and that most have experienced the same problem I urge everyone to call Whirlpool corp. at Corporate Office Headquarters HQ: Address: 2000 N. M-63, Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022-2692 USA, Corporate Phone Number: 1-269-923-5000, and ask for the Office of the President and complain. The cost of repair with service is over a 150.00 but if youre handy you can fix it better than new for under $2.00.

Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. We bought a whole suite of KitchenAid large appliances (from Fergusons) for our new home build. We have been very satisfied with the performance of all - UNTIL the dishwasher tore up. It was still under the factory warranty. We called the issue in and there was a local company (American Appliance) that arrived 3 weeks later to repair. They discovered that the heating element of the dishwasher was broken and needed to be replaced. They ordered the part. They said it should arrive in 7-10 business days. After that amount of time, I called to be told that it was on backorder. They didnt have any clue of when the part would be back in stock. Therefore, we started reaching out to KitchenAid directly. We have spent over 6+ hours trying to reach KitchenAid and to speak to their technical department, parts department, warranty group, and finally complaint group. We have been told multiple things - there was a recall on the part (cant confirm that one), the part was out of stock and would not be in stock until after December 30 (totally unacceptable), and that the part was finally now in stock. We were told on July 8 that the part would go out to us on a truck the next day. Apparently that didnt happen. We have been on the phone with KitchenAid complaints again today for over 1.5 hours (more time) to be told that the part has been ordered but has not been pulled and shipped yet and that it would take another 2-3 weeks for that to happen. We made the choice to buy Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) appliances for our new house because they are American made and felt that they would stand behind their products. We are so dissapointed in how this has been handled. We are going to be without our dishwasher for at least 2+ months (and we are a family of 6 people). Our disappointment comes from both the quality of the part but even more importantly the way we have been treated and the repair handled once it tore up. I would not recommend them today. I would be cautious because if you have issues it is not an easy road to travel! Our warranty has not been very effective up to this point.

Our KitchenAid (KEBC107KSS) oven was installed 6 years ago. We do not use it a lot. About 3 years ago, it stopped working after running the clean cycle. We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store
We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store gave us a 5 yr warranty which we used on 5 different occasions. Long story shortened greatly... 2 yrs in we had water leaking on the floor which was warping the newly done wood! Ahh! We couldnt figure out what was going on b/c it both seemed to be running/leaking as well as there was water freezing up in the back of the freezer, until it created a frozen pool in the bottom and started to leak out the front. So I turned off the water supply (stinks to have this huge fancy fridge and NO ice or cold water!) But that didnt seem to stop the prob. First they said it required the duck bill to help w/ draining the water inside the fridge which wasnt covered under the warranty- even though KA had HUNDREDS of calls on this issue at that point in 2012. Then later we found that we were experiencing 2 separate problems. We needed a faulty valve which was covered and the repair company was nice and thorough in fixing the duck bill for free. The valve we were told might have been b/c the water was freezing inside the ice cube maker in the fridge (our ice is not indoor but in bottom freezer on left side). He showed me how the water was frozen inside the hard plastic tubing. NOTE that we DID defrost it and that sorry to say didnt help. ALSO BE AWARE that for us these issues seemed to coincide via coincidence or not.. We are unsure... But seemed to occur when either someone left the freezer opened for a prolonged time.. OR we went out of town for over a week and the freezer remained unopened. Unfortunately, we have never gotten an answer on that one.. BUT we just came back from a 1 month trip overseas and bam! The prob was back! Grrrr.. Anyway... So that repair of the duck bill and double valve seemed to work for 3 yrs.. b/c now we are in 2015 and experiencing very similar issues again. I called our old repair guys again and they told me that KA has changed out the duck bill for a new piece called the goose neck/P-trap drain tube. We just ran out of the warranty of course last month.. So to fix this would be $110 labor, $80 service fee + part $25. I found this website that shows how to put it in yourself. I dont even cut my own grass or nail something in the wall myself.. BUT this looks so easy I will do it myself! See link to Repair Clinic! Not sure it will show up here but google it! Has a video. Im going to give it a try. ** Also check out the threads on this forum **. ALSO lastly.. Sorry.. Wanted to let you know that one of the other calls we have had to make on this which was NOT at difficult to figure out but would have been pretty costly had we not had the warranty was the condenser went out 4 yr after we bought it 2014. The thing just started not to cool anymore! But the guys figured it out pretty quickly and got the new part in straight away. OHH And lastly... Really it is.. Haha. The stainless doors are the WORST of ALL of our stainless appliances to clean. and EVEN are getting tiny rust spots which is crazy as our fridge isnt anywhere near the sink/stove. Anyway... SO FOR CLEANING them.. I have tried several different products and the one that has by far done the best at cleaning and keeping spots away is Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish. I agree w/ ALL that has been said re: this machine.. Looks great.. But a total lemon! I will NEVER spend $2300 on a fridge again. I figured it was my once in a lifetime. Im grown up and get the kitchen I want & have it last a long time.. Im a teacher... So the cash is not flowing like the water on my floor. But I will never buy something like this again. I purchased a new refrigerator (KitchenAid refrigerator kfs25xvms9) that throws ice everywhere. I had a repairman come to look at it and I was told to use a bigger glass. If I go to something bigger, then I will be using a bowl. This has been embarrassing because I have to tell everyone who comes to the house to Stop! Let me get a bowl or the ice will end up on the floor! I have all new appliances and I was told what I was buying was good stuff but I have to use a bowl to get ice. My question is, why have they not recalled the plastic piece that is supposed to put the ice in the glass? If I had been able to try it out in the store, I certainly would not have bought this model. I really hope that Whirlpool will stand behind what they sell and recall this plastic piece and replace it with one that will do the job. If I do not receive some satisfaction on this matter, then I will contact the Better Business Bureau.

Email to Trail Appliance: I meant to email you earlier but weve been away. All appliances are in and look great. Were just wondering though if a support might be missing from the fridge. Ive attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. The shelf above the two crisper drawers seems to be missing a middle support? Because as soon as you put any items on it, it really sags in the middle. You can see the glass shelf separating from its white plastic rim and then gap between two crisper drawers getting wider at the bottom. Are we missing a piece or is there anyway to fix this? It seems such an obvious flaw. Trails response: I have checked both units on the floor and neither have a little support... so sorry... It does seem odd that it does not though. My last email to Trail: So what are our options? I must say every time I open the fridge door - what I see (that sagging shelf) is unacceptable. I thought we were upgrading our 17 year old appliances - but it appears not, and Im sure that anyone else who has bought this fridge would be experiencing the same issue. So just wondering what my options are? Does KtichenAid stand behind the supposed quality (or lack thereof) of their products or are we on our own? And what about Trail Appliances? Where do they stand on selling crap (pardon the harsh language) like this? Suggestions? Waiting on response to this last email - but would NOT recommend buying this fridge for this reason.

I placed a review on this site regarding a catastrophic failure of a door seal on our very expensive fridge 3 years to the date after purchase. After numerous conversations with the Canadian warranty department and being told the part was not warrantied after one year I ordered a door seal from another provider and replaced the seal. I then wrote the review.Much to my surprise on Dec 4 The manager of Canadian Operations for Customer Relations Whirlpool contacted me to advise us they were prepared to send a service technician out to replace the seal at no cost to us. I advised the Manager that I had already replaced the seal and what the cost was. The Manager advised me to send him a copy of my receipt and that Whirlpool would reimburse me for any out of pocket costs for the seal replacement. This was a very pleasant surprise indeed and has replaced my faith in the KitchenAid product as they DO stand behind their product. There may be a takeaway here for Whirlpool to make it easier for Canadian clients to escalate a problem. A customer relations email address, phone number?

I give this zero stars for my safety nothing can compromise that. I had a Kitchenaid stove up until yesterday. It was a stand alone range and for some reason it was putting out a abnormal amount of heat in the kitchen. Also it seemed like I was nauseous some time just standing close to the unit. I put the unit on self clean didnt seem like it worked at all. Had the unit tested by the gas company and they tagged it off as a hazard. The reading on preheat alone was high in carbon monoxide coming out the oven vent. I do not know why these products are so expensive when the quality isnt there. I just replaced the stove with a better brand and my kitchen isnt hot at all...and was tested no readings whatsoever. Stay away from this brand if you value your safety.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago thinking we were paying more to get a quality product. It has been instead inferior and troublesome. A long series of problems began from the start. Crooked footings that made it more challenging to install. Leaking door seal that needed to be replaced. Leaks from some undefined location that require we use and empty a drip pan. Plastic wheels breaking and not staying on track (dumping the full tray into the well) when sliding in full trays of dishes. Poor cleaning compared or prior cheapo washers. Flatware trays that wear out easily even while trying to be careful, and now to top it off, the unit has stopped rinsing the dishes entirely. What a huge waste of money!

We bought this fridge in 2013, it looks good and has all the features that we need. We are senior citizens, so, prior to 2013, we had owned a number of fridges and never ever had a problem with any of them. This fridge is different, in 2019 the fridge stopped cooling because of the ice buildup. Repairman removed the ice, but he could not find was was wrong. Since then the fridge has not worked properly. In 2020 we placed another service call with Whirlpool (every service call cost a few $$ ).The tech suspected that there is a problem with a control panel, however he was not sure. He informed us that the repair would be quite expensive and it is not covered by warranty. The fridge is still not working properly - the cooling is on and off and we found an ice buildup under the freezer. By now we have had enough with costly repairs and persistent problems. It is time for a new fridge and we will make sure that it is not KitchenAid or Whirlpool. Stay away from these brands.

I brought a KitchenAid Dishwasher and a KitchenAid Refrigerator and both are THE WORST purchase I’ve ever made!! I’ve had problems within 30 days of my purchase. The dishwasher does not drain properly, parts were falling off, the top rack sprout continuously broke till the point of not being to use it anymore. My fridge kept building ice in the back of it, all the lights inside repeatedly die out, the ice maker makes ice intermittently. I could go on and on!! Please buyer beware! Buying KitchenAid is a complete waste of money!!

Immediately, thereafter, my fridge stopped working completely. The service person came to my home again and got the fridge working but it still beeps constantly (24 hours a day). On November 17, 2011, I used my self-clean function of my KitchenAid gas range (model # KGRS807SSS01) according to instructions in manual. The oven is only three years old. After one hour, the oven turned off. The door was locked and it was not due to a circuit breaker. I have had to have two service calls, purchase an electric roaster to cook the Thanksgiving turkey in and received no help from the KitchenAid call center because the authorized repair person stated that I needed part #9762774 for the touch control system. But was told that the part would not be covered under the five-year warranty because it is not the touch control system. Utterly frustrated after spending three hours on the phone, two service calls and over $400 to repair something that should work. Both repair persons stated that they advise never to use the self cleaning function of the KitchenAid range for just this reason.

KitchenAid Refrigerator Counter Depth Side by Side KSC23C8EYY02 - This pertains to a new Refrigerator purchased in January 2013. Condensation formed above the ice/water dispenser on exterior of original freezer door. New freezer door was installed last week (after 2-month wait). Now, new problems pop up - the ice maker does not produce ice. The electronic display is defective (light segments do not work) and the freezer is super-cooling. 3 different service companies have been here since last Monday and the problem continues. Why cant someone figure this out? A new ice maker is on order, a new display is on order and today, we are told that the heaters (supposed to keep water line to ice maker from freezing) may be defective. We have 4 months before our one-year warranty runs out and no confidence that we will have a functional refrigerator before then.

Now this week, the control board does not work. A repairman came, and after two hours, the refrigerator still is not fixed. The required parts are supposed to come and be installed next Saturday. Boy was I wrong, the following is a list of costly issues Ive encountered over what I think is an unacceptable product life span...some of the breakdowns occurred just outside of warranty, some continue: - Fridge Fan assembly replaced (overheating) - Fridge cheap plastics, many shelves easily damaged - Stove burner replacement, electric front panel malfunctioning - Dishwasher Circulation Motor seized - Dishwasher door closing mechanism malfunction - Clothes Washer control board failure- Clothes Dryer faulty ignitor (gas appliance)This is the list so far but Im expecting further issues down the road, I paid thousands of dollars for these appliances and expected them to last much longer...next time I will do my homework, that said...Im done with Whirlpool/KitchenAid.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side fridge from Sears ten months ago. I have since had it serviced for four times and Im now going on my fifth. This time around, I will have replaced nearly every part in the fridge. My complaint is not only with regards to the condition of the product and Sears failure to take responsibility for it (not to mention all the food Ive had to throw out), but the fact the Sears service department makes it extremely difficult to get them to come out in a timely matter.Last time we checked our fridge, it was 60 degrees. According to Sears, it would be a minimum of one week before they could come out and repair the fridge, even though our last repair guy had the part needed to fix the fridge shipped directly to our home. The part is currently sitting on our kitchen counter. I guess my question is, is there a lemon law that protects my family from Sears and the obviously faulty item that they sold us? If so, I would like this fridge replaced. Im very much considering contacting an attorney. What are your thoughts?

Our KitchenAid model KUDD01DSSS stainless steel dishwasher is a double drawer unit with plastic interior. It is very nice for my wife and I and small loads but probably not as useful for a family. It is a bit noisy and seems to run quite a long time. This is a 2006 model, so perhaps a newer model would be more efficient and address the noise issue. Overall, I have been satisfied with this dishwasher.

My husband and I purchased all KitchenAid products for use in a new home we were building in late December 1997. In the first cleaning of the double-wall oven, it locked up; and we had to have the service man from Sears come out and fix it. Since that time, I have had some trouble with the touch pad working and then not working. About 2 weeks ago, I called Sears; and they sent a repair man out to fix this problem. He informed me that the part for my Superba KitchenAid double-wall oven had been discontinued and that I had probably paid $2,700.00 for this oven. Much to my amazement, because we purchased so many kitchen appliances, I had no idea we had paid this price. Nonetheless, he informed me he had other customers whom he had tried to get parts for and gave me very little hope of ever finding the part to repair this oven. So I called KitchenAid and was told it had been discontinued and hopes of finding part number 4451292 was going to be very unlikely. I proceeded to get onto the internet on Ask.com and found a repair site. I did some research and found it has been discontinued and that they dont have any idea of anywhere to get this control pad fixed or purchased. I feel that, after reading all the other complaints on these same malfunctions, there should be some kind of enforcement that KitchenAid or Sears should have warned the public at the time of purchase as to the approximate time you have to get parts for such expensive items. My oven is almost new inside and out. I and my husband (who is now deceased) worked out on the road for many years, and use of this oven was very limited due to us always being gone out on the road. The bottom oven has been used maybe 3 times, and the top oven has not been used hardly at all, compared to my KitchenAid microwave, which we both used all the time.when we were home. My guess would be that it would about compare a thousand or more to one. The touch pad on my microwave is still doing super. After viewing all the complaints on this model number KEBS277DWH1, part number 4451292, and the issues all of us are having with these ovens, I would hope that someone would stand up for us in a class action lawsuit. These products are very expensive, and nobody is helping the consumers on this product problem. Please someone stick up for all of us who need someone who can make this company responsible for such inadequate products. As of today, I have no ovens to cook Easter dinner in, because nobody has a part to repair this. And I am a widow and havent the money ($3,500.00) to buy another one. This is what repair.com wants for another one. Im very dissatisfied and angry with the outcome of all the work and research done and to get nowhere. Help!

Our dishwasher is 3 1/2 years old. 4 of the 7 sections of the silverware baskets are useless because the bottom plastic grid has disintegrated. We replaced the motor last year because of plastic debris. I called KitchenAid after leaving a message on their website that was not returned with a response. Today I called and talked to 4 different people. The first one couldnt help me with a replacement unless I bought a new one; he transferred me to another but her computer wasnt working and she transferred me to another who took the info again and put me on hold. Another person answered as if I had not talked to anyone and offered to sell me a new one. I told her I thought KitchenAid that they should replace it and I had photos to prove my claim. She hung up on me. The total time was almost fifteen minutes on hold. So, I guess Im out of luck and will NEVER purchase KitchenAid or Whirlpool (who bought them) ever again.

Our $600 KitchenAid microwave failed after less than 2 years. I spoke with customer service about repair, and was told that replacement parts are not made for this item as its a countertop appliance. Was not marketed as such - was sold to me as an installed piece with a matching trim kit. I was told that I would just need to purchase another microwave given that Im out of warranty. Very disappointing to discover that a seldom-used microwave that retails for that much money cannot be counted upon to last for 2 years. I bought this KitchenAid Refrigerator in February 2017 for almost 8000 dollars. I had my first problem in April. My food was freezing in my refrigerator. When the Technician came he said that the temperature board has a defect and needs to be changed. The same problem occurred in August and after having the Technician come to my house 6 times and changed couple things I called customer service to find a solution. They said that they will send another technician for a second opinion and that he needs to call their tech line and document the problem and they will replace my refrigerator after that. When the technician came and called and told them about the food in my freezer that is showing ice flakes because of the change of temperature they told him that this was normal and I need to vacuum my food and because the reading of the temperature was zero in the freezer and 37 in my fridge everything is running normal. When I called customer service again they said that they are not technicians. They need to send another one over and when I asked what is next step they said they cant give me an answer. The temperature change on its own. Sometimes it goes to -18 in my freezer sometimes to 32 in my fridge and sometimes 55 and for them everything is running normal. I cant put any food in my fridge and I am stuck with this defected fridge because they refuse to replace it even if it is a 6 months old one. Please let me know what kind of company is this and what kind of product are they selling. Does anybody know of any way I can get this refrigerator replaced?

We have had KitchenAid appliances for years and when we built our new home 2 years ago we selected high end KitchenAid for our kitchen. We have had a problem with the water and ice dispenser from the beginning. KitchenAid sent a tech out to replace a part and one year later the same problem is back. I called KitchenAid and they scheduled an appointment with the same company that didn’t fix it the first time. I emptied the entire refrigerator as asked so they could work on it and then get a call from Guinco Service that there will be a $130 charge for the tech to come out plus the cost of parts and labor. The customer service person at KitchenAid lead me to believe they would take care of it since it is an ongoing problem. When I called them back they said, Oh no. It is out of warranty. Well why did they schedule the appointment and want to send the same people that didn’t fix it the first time. I cancelled the appointment and cleaned my refrigerator shelves since it was already empty. KitchenAid just lost a lifetime customer.

We purchased a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher 2 years ago. In the first year, we had 4 service calls for various problems. The last problem was for poor draining and residual soap in the bottom of the unit. Things were replaced and the door was taken apart, then reassembled. The problem persisted. I went online and did my own research and found the solution. Each repair person was sure to remind me to keep the rinse agent full. Turns out that when you have a water softener, the rinse agent is unnecessary. Now the entire door is showing rashes of rust.We called today and were questioned how the door was being cleaned. It is cleaned with a weak soap solution and immediately dried with a very soft microfiber cloth. Okay, so its not a maintenance issue. It is a very low grade of stainless steel. Magnets stick in the door readily, but not on the stainless handle, which is obviously a higher quality of stainless. After speaking to a manager, we are being sent a cleaning solution and a polishing solution. Sadly, had we researched before paying so much, we would have been informed that this is a chronic problem with Kitchenaid and they refuse to acknowledge the problem, nor will they offer any satisfactory solution. This dishwasher was bought to replace a 27-year-old Kenmore unit that just wasnt getting the dishes as clean as it used to. When it was taken to the junk yard, it looked like it did the day it was bought. The stainless parts were flawless. Dont make the same mistake we did.
