We have had KitchenAid dishwashers for 20 years. I got this dishwasher three years ago after six months, it wasn’t cleaning the dishes. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the wrong detergent. I switched to Cascade. The fact that you need to buy a special detergent to go with these dishwashers seemed pretty peculiar, but I did it. Since then I’ve had a repairman out three times because it leaks, wasn’t cleaning the dishes, water wasn’t emptying, and now all of the wheels have dissolved and fallen off the dishwasher on the bottom rack. They have melted onto the drying bar. I am grateful they didn’t start a fire. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the detergent Cascade and that dissolves the plastic on the dishwasher wheels.... WHAT???? I finally called kitchenaid and she told me that have never heard of this ever happening and that my warranty was out. I told them that not have if any wheels on my bottom rack was inexcusable and I demanded they send me wheels. Finally they said they would. That was 7 days ago. They said they would send them but if I couldn’t put them on I’d have to hire someone, they would not pay for that. I am very disappointed in kitchen aid, and will never, ever buy another.

The Kitchenaid French Door refrigerator (KFIS25XVMS8) has an ice dispenser that is poorly designed. When you remove your glass from the dispenser, the dispenser continues to eject ice, all over the hardwood floor. This has occurred since the refrigerator was purchased six months ago. The repairman sent by Kitchenaid said that this was normal operation and could not be fixed. Kitchenaids customer service said the same thing. This is a terrible design and makes the ice dispenser unusable. The refrigerator is otherwise OK.

KitchenAid Model No. KDRP467K 36 Architect Series Dual-Fuel Range. The rotary control was set to bake at 350 degrees F. At 12:30PM, I placed oatmeal cookies on a cookie sheet (metal) into the oven preheated at 350 degrees F. At 12:37PM, the oven began to smoke. We checked the setting and temperature, attempting to open the oven door. It was locked and the oven was apparently in the clean mode although the controls were clearly not set to clean. I shut the power to the range off at the breaker panel. The range took two hours to cool. We have never used the self-cleaning feature.

This refrigerator is not even 2 years old and one of the LED lights burned out. Long story short, technician could not fix it, he said you need a new fridge, say what, for a light bulb??? KitchenAid offers to replace it, oh by the way it will cost you $600.00 because it is out of warranty. I ask KitchenAid if they are for real, $600.00 for a light bulb, are you kidding me. Everything else on the fridge works but the LED lights. Poor design such that the connector pulls off the wires that are buried inside the cabinet and the modern techs do not know how to repair, therefore, need new fridge is the answer. Do not buy this fridge if you want something that lasts. Also do not bother to call KitchenAid customer service, they are no help at all. I bought this fridge, a double oven and a dishwasher, all at the same time. I will never buy KitchenAid again.

In June, 2009, I did a complete kitchen remodel and installed all-KitchenAid appliances, including a side-by-side refrigerator model KSCS25MVMS which cost almost $2,500. I purchased a five-year extended warranty on all the appliances which, unfortunately, has now expired. I recently noticed water damage to the base of the cabinet surrounding the refrigerator and to the hardwood floor. I had an appliance repairman out and he determined that the water leak was the result of a crack in the evaporator drip pan under the refrigerator. He said he would order a replacement pan. A couple of days later he called to inform me that this part was no longer available. He said he could attempt to repair it, with no guaranty that the repair would be successful, or I could buy a new refrigerator. I think it is outrageous that a $2,500 6-year old refrigerator (which is otherwise working fine) is now rendered unusable because of the failure of a cheap plastic part that KitchenAid has discontinued. It sounds like KitchenAid is discontinuing parts availability in order to force people to buy new products. Well, all I can say is, if I end up having to buy a new refrigerator, it will most definitely NOT be a KitchenAid!!!

So far its working well. Hope this helps everyone... also going to clean out area inside under spray wand to make sure there is nothing in pump area.

KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator model KFIS29PBMS01 - I had a new kitchen installed in my home September 2013. The contractor bought the appliances from his distributor but I picked out the brand and all of the models. Within one week of the installation of the refrigerator, end of September 2013 there was water and frost coming down from the inside of my refrigerator. A tech was sent and ordered upgrades for the ice maker. It took three months to get the parts. The problem get a little better but very little ice and very, very small. In March of 2014 some food started to thaw in freezer and we had to remove the food. The ice maker then stopped working. My refrigerator is now 18 months old and I no longer have warranty. I e-mailed KitchenAid. They have a record of the problem we had and the long wait. They did not answer the e-mail. I called the distributor where the appliances had come from and they told me I should have bought an extended warranty. I asked why would pay more money when they could not get it right when under warranty. I bought a new ice maker but still having problems. KitchenAid does not care about their customers. I had bought another entire kitchen from them 15 years and they were good. Their products are now nothing but junk and I bought their top of the line. I hope they go out of business.

The first one I bought was defective so KitchenAid replaced and installed it. Never have I had the dishes cleaned. I have had to replace the toolbar at the top and now its defective again. The last repairman assured me it was installed well and the water was hot, etc. After he left, the dishes are still dirty. I just gave up. This dishwasher is just a piece of junk with a big price. Im going back to GE Profile, at least my dishes were always clean. KitchenAid should not be allowed to get away with selling defective dishwashers. Worst dishwasher I have ever owned.

We bought this fridge in Oct 2019, it quit working completely in late March. The repair man has come out 4 times and has told us this refrigerator has all kinds of problems. He replaced the electronics and the compressor. Now we have to wait till the end of the month for them to replace the coils. Customer service is horrible, they will not talk about replacing it because we don’t meet the “CRITERIA”, for replacement. Expensive KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDPO1FLBL5) is building up of hazardous black mold on interior monthly. KitchenAid would only refer me to A&E appliances for repair at my expense as dishwasher was past one-year warranty. After taking a day off work technician never showed. After speaking with two KitchenAid supervisors in Cleveland, Tn., Wanda and Benjamin, who were unapologetic and wasting over three hours on hold with both companies, I received no satisfaction other than the option of taking yet another day off work and rescheduling with A&E. If you are thinking about buying any KitchenAid appliances, you should think twice. And incidentally, according to Forbes, CEO Jeff Fettig made $45 million in the last 5 years.

I own an entire set of KitchenAid appliances. I am writing about our range, which I tried to self-clean for the first time on December 23. Dont you know that the oven shut down, and door is locked, and control panel is dead? I contacted KA to see what their remedy was. They are sending out a repairman, but will only cover parts, not labor. I was ticked off. I had a turkey to cook for Christmas and visitors are coming to stay for a week. It’s completely absurd to not have an oven to use. I asked the guy on the phone if there had been other issues reported on the same self-clean issue. He said no. Then he said that he didnt have access to personal records. Which is it? I am totally in for a class action suit as well. I’m waiting for a technician. It’s way to expensive of an appliance to have a repair 3 years later.

We have had a French Door fridge by KitchenAid in March 2019. Today is the third service call on the freezer filling with frost, and the ice maker, which pours ice out at an unbelievable volume constantly. The ice maker has now been replaced twice, and the technician tried to blame me for its malfunctioning (because I love taking time off work to hang out with him, I guess?). The door has rust spots all over it (which he has used my baking soda and vinegar to attempt to clean), and he told me today that part of the motor sounds like its going to need to be replaced, too. Customer service is like a Kafka story...theres no way to replace what is clearly a defective item until its deemed unrepairable, but theres also no rule about how many repairs/replacements will deem something unrepairable. I just know my warranty will end up running out before they replace the item. Im so deeply disappointed because something like a brand new fridge doesnt make it into my life very often, and thinking that Ive wasted my money on a clunker that will continue now to waste my time & money is heartbreaking. I wish the company will take responsibility for their product and stand behind it when it doesnt work properly.

We purchased a new KitchenAid KSC23C8EYY for $2600 at the end of Jan. The ice maker didnt make ice for the first 48 hours and then the water started coming on but not shutting off. This happened at night so we didnt notice it until the morning. This filled the freezer with a frozen waterfall of ice and spewed water all over my new kitchen floor and under the new dishwasher. I called Western Appliance to have them replace it since it was brand new and now was covered with ice. They had to send a tech out before they could/would do anything. So I waited 2 days and the tech said a valve was bad. They had to order it. Western Appliance finally agreed after much angry conversation to replace the refrigerator which they had to order. That was another 3 days. Now, 2 months later, the water dispenser and ice maker stopped working. The first tech from A&E that came out had to call Whirlpool service and they recommended that he replace the wiring harness that he had to order, 10 more days! The second tech from A&E that came out said it wasnt the wiring harness and found that the coil inside the refrigerator was iced over. He said to unplug it for 24 hours and it would fix everything. He said that we had left the door open and that was what started the whole thing. Well, this refrigerator door slams shut if you leave it anything less than 90 degrees open, so it is not at all possible that we left the door open. I told the tech that he needed to find the problem that was underlying the frozen coil before I would agree to unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours thawing out all of my food. He said that was what the Whirlpool Service Center was recommending.I called KitchenAid service again and explained my concern and told them they still needed to fix the problem. They agreed to send out another service company. J&H came prepared. They brought their own towels, a cup to test the water dispenser, a floor protector, and a steam generator to defrost the coil. Yipee, someone who actually knows what they are doing! They diagnosed that the two thermistors that defrost the refrigerator and freezer were drawing different voltages. They are ordering parts and should have them in 3 days. Hopefully this fixes the problem. Im not sure that I would go the KitchenAid route again. But I understand that Whirlpool makes KitchenAid, Kenmore, and a few other refrigerators so I dont know how you get a refrigerator that wont have the same problem. I also understand that Samsung and LG have way more issues from the 5 technicians that I have talked to in trying to get a working unit.It seems like a lot of money for something that has had this amount of problems in the first 3 months of purchase. I guess this just reaffirms the old adage, Buyer beware! It sucks!

2 months ago, purchased new counter-depth KitchenAid from Sears. It never reached safe temp, and was 68 degrees after first week. Woke to spoiled food, and alarm beeping. Fast forward two months, and this refrigerator has turned our summer into numerous calls to Whirlpool (where you wait 45 min on hold before reaching anyone), 4 service appointments, (where you must be present at home waiting, for a 5 hour window), parts replacement, (must wait at least a week for parts), followed by still nonfunctioning refrigerator, then, start process over, again!!! We have had 3 service calls in the 2 month, now waiting for a fourth, each with major parts repair, only to still have 68 degrees, NON-FUNCTIONING, $3,000 refrigerator!!! Spare yourselves, if you can by staying clear of KitchenAid/Whirlpool. Tell your friends and family!!! I wouldnt wish this experience on ANYONE!!! They refuse to exchange or refund. It is amazing to me that KitchenAid is continuing to stick their head in the sand when it is obvious that a problem exists with the oven shutting off. I preheated the oven to 375 and put the food in the oven for no more than 15 minutes and the oven shut off. The problem has been reported since 1998 at least! What is the permanent fix?

KitchenAid electric range # KERS807SSS00. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid! They don’t deserve a star! Because They sold out to Whirlpool to avoid covering their poorly built products that should’ve had been recalled or, came up with a seal to prevent control board burnout! This is my second spillover and the dash control panel is burned out again. At least the range does work because it’s independent from the oven, you do need the control panel to operate the oven. I called KA which is Whirlpool now. Whirlpool, simply have a way of not covering any warranties on KA. They always have an excuse. Or, there’s no record of a complaint by me or by anyone else on this issue!I find that hard to believe because I had a spillover and I called and complained to KA within two months of purchase about the faulty glass top (No Seal) to prevent spillovers from the glass top to the bottom of where the control board burned out. Which they did cover because it was during the warranty period. And their excuse was, “Didn’t you read the manual?” Well No Maam! I didn’t! This is the third one in my family, and there’s been spillovers and nothing was blown out!! I should have realized. They had General Electric ranges. At the cost of $ 480.00 plus labor for the part. We will rather buy a new range other than KA or Whirlpool or any other products made by them!! In the meantime, I’ll be grilling out on the grill ☀️????

I bought one of the top of the line gas stoves. The paint on the grates began peeling within the first month of use. The stove was in a spec house so the warranty had expired by the time we began using it. We called a technician out to check the gas lights and ordered two more grates $200 each plus shipping. Within two weeks of use the same thing happened. I tried to talk to the customer no service. They told me there was no warranty and no managers or supervisors to speak with. I cant believe. I thought I was buying a top end product and this how I am being treated?

We have had KitchenAid appliances for years and when we built our new home 2 years ago we selected high end KitchenAid for our kitchen. We have had a problem with the water and ice dispenser from the beginning. KitchenAid sent a tech out to replace a part and one year later the same problem is back. I called KitchenAid and they scheduled an appointment with the same company that didn’t fix it the first time. I emptied the entire refrigerator as asked so they could work on it and then get a call from Guinco Service that there will be a $130 charge for the tech to come out plus the cost of parts and labor. The customer service person at KitchenAid lead me to believe they would take care of it since it is an ongoing problem. When I called them back they said, Oh no. It is out of warranty. Well why did they schedule the appointment and want to send the same people that didn’t fix it the first time. I cancelled the appointment and cleaned my refrigerator shelves since it was already empty. KitchenAid just lost a lifetime customer.

Purchased this model in 2016 and found that both upper and lower ovens are very poor at accurate temperature readings. Set for 400 but often register at 350. Lower oven very slow to come to temperature and inaccurate at sustaining set temperature. Despite using recommended cleaning products stovetop has stained noticeably. We are plant-based eaters thus stress on stovetop is minimal yet discolouration around elements is greater than expected.

Purchased (2) drawer type KitchenAid dishwashers from Sears in late 2009. Built new house, attempted installation since June 2011. Unsuccessful at initiating cycle. Plumbing lines create enough back pressure to break door seal shutting off cycle. Installation manual incorrectly shows plumbing mounted on left rear side. Pre-plumbed at factory from rear of unit. emailed KitchenAid last week, no response. Offered installation service from Sears in August (?), service technician had never installed a drawer type dishwasher. Gave up. Different Sears installer here now, 11/28/11. Having difficulty diagnosing and fixing problem. Two year warranty expired in October without dishwasher ever running one cycle. Sent KitchenAid letter, no response! Horrible response from both KitchenAid and Sears.

My husband and I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 2 years ago and had our first problem when we opened the dishwasher for the first time. The bracket holding the third shelf was broken. The dishwasher had already been installed so we could not return it without a lot of problem. KitchenAid sent out a technician and he replaced the part. The rack opened with much difficulty but he said he could do nothing about that. Over the next two years the dishwasher had a slow leak that was not detected until we noticed black mold growing over the side and front of our cabinet next to the dishwasher. We called kitchenAid and they sent another technician who informed us that the leak was a result of the replacement bracket being installed incorrectly. When we again called KitchenAid to rectify the problem that they caused we were informed that it was not their problem and we had to pay for the part as well as a large bill for labour. We are completely dissatisfied with KitchenAid and their total lack of support of their customers. I would never recommend a KitchenAid appliance to anyone. They do not back their product unless you are willing to pay again and again. As I have noticed on some of the other complaints filed with consumer affairs re: KitchenAid dishwashers, we also have noted a bad smell from the dishwasher if the door has been closed. I was unaware that it was the result of the dishwasher not having a fan motor. What an inferior product it truly is. Had we known we would never have spent so much money to purchase their product.

I purchased a model KDTE204DSS0 KitchenAid dishwasher on 12/1/14 for $717.48. It has a stainless steel tub. Fourteen months later (2/16) we had water leaking from multiple pinhole leaks in the stainless steel tub where the base of the tub is molded to fit the screen and pump. I called Whirlpool and they said that the tub has a lifetime warranty but it can only be installed by an approved appliance repair facility. That cost $150.00 (I removed, delivered and installed the dishwasher again myself). On 9/8/16 (seven months later) the dishwasher is leaking again and has again the same pinhole leaks in the new tub. I get a slight shock when I touch the screen inside the tub and believe there is a galvanic reaction going on that is eating up the stainless tub at its thinnest area.Since I find no other reviews mentioning this problem, and it appears to be more than just a tub problem but a unit problem (i.e. a lemon), I asked Whirlpool to replace the unit. As you already know, they said no but would replace it for $17.00 less than I paid for the last one less than two years ago. If I paid another $150.00 to replace the last tub that would be about $500.00 a year to wash a load of dishes every other day. This negative review is as much about the manufacturer as it is about the faulty dishwasher.

Purchased subject refrigerator in May, 2009 from Sears for $1,650. Over last several years several parts have fallen off - interior light cover, crisp cover, freezer drawer handle. Last week we came home from vacation to find temperatures in freezer compartment above 50 degrees and in refrigerator above 60 degrees. Probably $2-300 of food ruined.I scheduled service call through the KitchenAid website. Service rep came out, pulled refrigerator from the wall, pulled off the back panel, and announced that a copper cooling tube had cracked... leading to loss of refrigerant and failure of the compressor. As a KitchenAid authorized repair provider... he could get the ~$400 cost of the compressor covered under warranty. I would have to pay, however, $99 for service call plus another $650 for 2 hours of labor. The repair tech explained that a design flaw placed the copper tubing in the drain pan area exposing it to continual moisture and heat ultimately eroding the tube until it cracked. I dont think failure of the compressor at 8.5 yrs is reasonable. My appeal to KitchenAid fell on silent ears. In addition to the poor durability... I suspect there is some collusion between KitchenAid and the authorized repair service organizations. $650 seems excessive for 2 hours labor. Guess if I have to use an authorized service to get warranty coverage of the part I dont really have much choice.

We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher in April 2012. During the 1st year, we had to replace the right upper dish assembly (the wheels), the door switch and control panel. Today we replaced the motor and pump assembly which was not covered by warranty! This cost us a dear $440.00 with the labour. We are just in the process of replacing the left upper rack assembly (warranty item). We replaced our original dishwasher (Kenmore) because of the colour and decided to get a KitchenAid because our other appliances are KitchenAid. This was a huge mistake. Our Kenmore never had a service call. We would never buy another KitchenAid product!! The next repair needed will see the dishwasher at the dump!!

We purchased a top-of-the-line over-the-range micro-convection oven by KitchenAid in September 2012. Within 30 minutes of installation the unit quit working. For 2 months we had 4 visits from a repair company while it hung without a door in our new kitchen. Finally it worked. Within the next 2 months the exhaust fan went out. They came, ordered a new one and when they pulled the original the tines on the wheels were shredded??? That was 2 more visits. Then just at the end of September this year the other motor did the same thing. That was 2 more visits. Now this week the control panel on the replaced door just started going crazy at random. So this will be another at least 2 visits. This will be 10 days of interruption of my work schedule for repairs to a microwave. Each visit requires you to allow a 4 hour window for the visit. My microwave has not been in full working order at least 4 months out of 14 months. Whirlpool the parent company will not replace it. They would rather I switch companies to LG or GE for my next appliance purchases. We have purchased just about every appliance from Whirlpool and KitchenAid for 35 years and 6 houses because they are a local company. BUT unknowingly this micro was built in China. Our loyalty to them is done because they have NO loyalty to us as a consumer. Very surprised at the lack of caring.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

We bought the 29 cubic foot french door freezer bottom fridge (KFIS29PBMS) in the spring, and have had nothing but problems with it. When we received the unit, the door baskets and wide drawer were broken. I called support, and got a very friendly agent who shipped out new parts. In July, we noticed a large ice block forming in the top left corner of the fridge. I called support again, and got an average agent that said it is a known issue that they are making a part for, however it will not be ready until November. Last week I noticed that rust spots are forming on the front of freezer door, AND a fan or compressor now clangs horribly when the unit attempts to cool. It is loud enough that we cannot have a conversation on the main floor without being interrupted. I called support again, and spoke with a very rude agent. They are sending out a service tech, however we are really disgusted with the lack of quality in this product.

When I was a kid my mom loved KitchenAid but we bought a Bosch because the style we wanted. After it failed miserably I said we will purchase a KitchenAid. We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher in 2014. We Paid for installation also. With it we bought A warranty. After just over two years, the top rack of the dishwasher failed. The top rack will not slide out and weve found metal ball bearings in the dishwasher that we assume are from the side rails. So frustrating... This is standard use and it is crap. When I called to get it repaired I was told that this type of repair is not covered by the extended warranty and the estimate was 2/3rds. The cost of the dishwasher. I was talking to my mom and she told me Son they will take care of it... They didnt and I told her It is not the brand it used to be. The top rack finally completely broke and now we have a bottom rack only. We are so over it and so sad.

Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer)
Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer) - We bought our fridge in late June of 2013. Its now Early September and weve been without a properly functioning appliance for more than 2 weeks. Looking through the reviews, the prospect is daunting of waiting months to get this resolved.Same issue as many. After a call to Kitchen Aid, a technician came to evaluate the issue and determined that it was an evaporator fan malfunction. It took 5 days to get the new part. A new technician/refrigeration expert came to install the new (and faulty) fan (The freezer door, which was functioning fine up to this point, was somehow damaged by him so that now it makes a noise when I open it). He said to give the fan 24 hours to cool the machine. A day later it was no better than it was before, with the temperature hovering around 60 degrees. A new technician was sent out the next day. He determined, after taking the refrigerator apart that the new evaporator fan was faulty. He defrosted the evaporator with a heat gun and talked to Rick at the KitchenAid tech line (On an aside, the drawer display doesnt work at all, a whole different issue). Now were waiting a week to get a new fan and no guarantee that this fan will work. We are very frustrated.

My wife and I bought a Kitchen made dishwasher model # KDS301XBL at Lowes store in Clermont, FL on August 23, 2011. It cost over $700.00. After about a year, we started to have problems with the control panel lights: going dim, not lighting up, etc., then the ceiling lights in our kitchen started to blink and the circuit breaker clicked off... We then called a repair service who replaced the control panel. Within 3 weeks, the panel started to leak water down the front of the new control panel unit. We called the service tech again and he said that the first tech should have replaced the vent and deflector because that is why the water was getting into the control panel causing it to short circuit. $130.00 spent on the first visit and $130.00 on the second visit all for a dishwasher that was not near 3 years old. This D/W has a control panel problem and should have been recalled. There is a class action Lawsuit in the USA and one in Canada also. Avoid this D/W at all costs ....

Model KUDS301XBL - This dishwasher was purchased in May 2011 at a total cost of almost $1,000. Since having it installed, it has required service and the motor has been replaced twice - in 2012 and again in 2013. The wheels and rollers have repeatedly broken off. Now, after less than four years, it has failed again and the motor will need to be replaced for the third time. Each time services required, it is a minimum of one week - and typically 2 to 3 weeks - that our family of six is without the use of a dishwasher. In addition to its lack of reliability, this high-end dishwasher has never adequately done a good job of washing dishes. Even the service technician has said, I dont care what the salesperson told you, if you want your dishes to be clean, you will have to pre-wash them. Perhaps we just got a lemon, but the manufacturer has done nothing to correct our situation.

And after they called KitchenAid, they said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and the vent could not leak steam because it was only open when the water was filling to vent the pressure and because of the weight of the small plastic door, it could not let steam out. I purchased a KitchenAid induction double oven range, model KSIB900ESS1 through my home builder, who installed it in July 2017. We moved into the home August 1. It worked correctly until October, although the induction burners make a lot of noise. In October the ovens quit working. We called KitchenAid, who sent an appliance repairman out in two days. A week later we hear nothing from the appliance guy. After several calls, I found out that the part that needed replaced did not exist. Confused, I called KitchenAid again and asked for another repairman. This one came out, found the problem, and located a replacement board within a week. I preheated the top oven two hours after he left and both of the ovens quit again. It is now a week later (tomorrow will be a month without an oven) and we are no further along in getting this fixed. Added to that: today I received a large box on my doorstep from KitchenAid (which I did not order) that I think might contain pots and pans that I dont need. Im afraid to open it because I dont want them saying I accepted pots and pans in lieu of a workable oven. What the heck is going on with this company?? Two days til Thanksgiving but we wont be able to cook anything in the oven this year. Thank goodness the range still works or wed be eating microwaved everything.

Please let me preface my following KitchenAid experiences with stating... I am well educated with university degrees in science and mechanical disciplines. Further, I completely understand that machines can be complex and occasionally need maintenance/repairs. I do not consider myself a complainer or online-junkie. However, KitchenAid warrants my outcry and warning to other consumers.December 2015 we replaced every major appliance in our kitchen with top-of-the-line KitchenAid appliances. A bad $9000 decision! Within 9 months the French Door refrigerator had two major repairs including a complete tear-down of the unit to replace the compressor. Since then it has been running more loud! The dealer (Anthonys TV and Appliance in Midwest City, Oklahoma) would not authorize replacing the defective unit despite an expensive extended warranty that was purchased during original acquisition. At least, on the refrigerator, we had the extended warranty or the compressor replacement would have cost huge dollars.Within 6 months the expensive built-in oven had to be re-calibrated because the temperature was so far off. It takes FOREVER for the unit to pre-heat. The screen readout on the unit shows the pre-heat is on, Low, and customer service states there is not a correction. This is a known issue on forums!Currently the dishwasher is awaiting pump motor replacement and has already had (a) the water valves replaced and (b) the expensive upper rack assembly replaced because it literally fell apart from becoming too brittle in the plastic sliding mechanism (another known problem on forums). Three (3) expensive repairs (out of warranty) on a dishwasher in 24 months? Bad! The $900 microwave has a mind of its own and often starts running again after a cycle is complete. And, sometimes when we close the microwave door, the unit starts running by itself necessitating the opening and closing of the door 2-3 times until the unit remains off. Bad!In summary... we purchased KitchenAid over Korean brands Samsung and LG in part to support the Made in USA label. Also, prior to purchase I contacted three appliance repair companies in the Oklahoma City area to ask their advice on brands that had good reputations for reliability and availability of parts. All three of the appliance repair companies recommended KitchenAid because Samsung and LG were reputed as having poor parts availability and did not offer training to techs as well as KitchenAid/Whirlpool Corp. does. Well, the Korean companies may have supply-side problems but... KitchenAid has very poor quality problems! To date we have had six (6) service calls and spent $100s to repair a suite of top-of-the-line KitchenAid appliances within 24 months of acquisition. That is unacceptable and I do not recommend KitchenAid to anyone. Avoid KitchenAid appliances. KitchenAid appliance have very poor reliability record. KitchenAid appliances are expensive to repair. KitchenAid appliances break down often. KitchenAid appliances are overpriced. KitchenAid appliance dealer (Anthonys TV and Appliance in Midwest City, Oklahoma) will not authorize replacement of lemon units and instead choose to force expensive warranty repairs onto customers, resulting in big cash flow to dealer from Whirlpool Corp. The dealer makes money and the customer must live with appliances which have lost factory integrity. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID APPLIANCES.

On November 17, 2011, I used my self-clean function of my KitchenAid gas range (model # KGRS807SSS01) according to instructions in manual. The oven is only three years old. After one hour, the oven turned off. The door was locked and it was not due to a circuit breaker. I have had to have two service calls, purchase an electric roaster to cook the Thanksgiving turkey in and received no help from the KitchenAid call center because the authorized repair person stated that I needed part #9762774 for the touch control system. But was told that the part would not be covered under the five-year warranty because it is not the touch control system. Utterly frustrated after spending three hours on the phone, two service calls and over $400 to repair something that should work. Both repair persons stated that they advise never to use the self cleaning function of the KitchenAid range for just this reason.

When the door is open the light doesnt come on and when you close the door and enter a setting it says to open the door, when you do that it starts saying to enter the clock time. The valve that allows water to shut off in the dishwasher freezes open causing the water to flow out of the front of door and flood your floor. The first time I was standing there and thought the door may not have closed. About 4 months later I was not there and it flood the kitchen, into the hall and living room. Called Sears. They sent a repair guy. He saw the water did not turn off even when you opened the door of the dishwasher, he said these valves have a problem and sometimes it is intermittent. Sears tested the valve and of course it worked, so they said the water damage was not from that. So lesson learned take a video. So where else did the water come from? Spent $800 for a turn off valve for dishwasher under sink and plumber said no leaks. Need this valve because I do not trust this dishwasher, will be looking at Bosch.

I purchase a KitchenAid Built-in Microwave Model KMBS104ESS02 in 2017. In January of 2020 it wasnt heating and of course our warranty was no longer valid. My husband has worked on microwaves before. He tested the Magnetron, Diode and High Voltage Capacitor and purchased all three new and installed in March of 2020. It worked for approximately 1 1/2 months and went again. He purchased the same parts again on May 20, 2020 costing another $263.27 totalling $526.54 to repair. This lasted through June. He called KitchenAid and was told that it is probably the motherboard and too expensive to replace just get rid of it. So we paid approximately $1,000.00 for the microwave new and spent $526.54 on repairing totalling $1,526.54 and was told to get rid of it. Great customer service response. My husband was so upset he threw it out and purchased a new Frigidaire for 1/3 the cost of the Kitchenaid. How sad is that. I am attaching one of the receipts from May 20,2020 cannot find other receipt. My husband pick up parts from Appliance Parts in Old Bridge NJ in March.

Superba Selectra Oven Glass explosion - While we were at the bedroom, my daughter heard a noise coming from the kitchen. It was like a loud crack. Then, we muted the TV and we heard a second loud noise and went to see. The glass from the oven was scattered all over the floor and even reached the living room and adjacent rooms. We all were saying we are lucky nobody was at the kitchen at the moment it happened, but now I think there are many similar cases and want to do something. This event happened yesterday night, 10-19-12. Today, we will contact KitchenAid about it but as we read from the other complaints, it looks like Kitchen Aid is not going to cooperate. Please, does anyone know if there is a class action suit or a recall?

Like thousands of other people my KitchenAid Superba oven (KEBS177DBL7, serial no: XJ3101002) refused to heat up after I used the Self Cleaning feature for the first time since Ive bought a house with it. Of course, it was the infamous blown thermostat. I contacted the KA customer service providing links to other complains about the same issue and asking just for a new part. They said that even though I am a valuable customer they cant help me since the oven is out of warranty. Fine, I asked to redirect me to a supervisor and finally she called me. I told her, that everybody knows about this problem but KA and that there should be a recall. She kept repeating your oven is out of warranty and we cant help you. I said fine, Ill join the army of unhappy customers in the Internet and will just spread the word about how badly KA design their products. She said again that she cant help me. Oh, well, apparently KA doesnt care.Ive already bought the part off Amazon (Whirlpool p/n 9759242, $34, fits just fine) and have installed it myself, not a big deal, but this is definitely the last product of KitchenAid in my household. Ill never buy anything else from them and will continue to tell everybody about my experience with KA.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher new in 2012. In just 3 years it has broke several times. First 4 times it was the upper rack wheel assembly. Plastic wheel retainer clip broke ($22 each piece online-easy to install). Using the broken racks I made a new and improved replacement wheel retainer. I drilled a hole through the piece and added a stainless steel screw and washer. Now when it breaks again next week, I will have a permanent fix for it. Most recently the touchpad control panel also has to be replaced on the unit. I called customer service and they said I had to have a licensed tech diagnose it. Luckily the touchpad is covered under the 2nd to 5th year warranty but I have to pay for labor ($100). I bought this brand for its reliability and as a loyal customer, I will definitely look elsewhere the next time it breaks. I shouldnt have to pay repair service for something under warranty. They are obviously making there money on replacement parts. Please do not buy this dishwasher. They do not care about quality and you will pay for it over time.

Bought a new side by side with ice maker from Sears in Feb 2012. By July noticed my floor was swollen and wet. Called the tech out. It had a crack in the water valve so it had a slow leak for months. The tech said he never sees these crack. Told me to call Whirlpool. Did, they told me to call Sedgewick which handles the insurance claims. Then Sedgewick told me they couldnt do anything because I didnt have the broke part. How is the average consumer suppose to know to keep it? The tech took it with him. How nice for them. Sedgewick told me to call Whirlpool back. Did, no answer. Had to leave message. Did that twice. Then I went to Sears, said they would look into it. Havent heard a peep. Needless to say have to turn it into my insurance for the 6000.00 damage to the floor you can see, doesnt include the sub floor that might be damaged or the mold that might be under there. This has been a ongoing thing for over a year. Never again will I buy anything Whirlpool or Sears. Customer service is awful. Now 2 of the knobs on the stove I bought at the same time will not turn. No quality built into these products!!

Currently have a KitchenAid gas stovetop, approximately six years old. Very pleased especially with the center burner which is more powerful. The treated stainless steel is extremely easy to clean. I do like the design and the fact that it is self lighting and will re-light if the flame goes out. KSF22C4cYY01 - Purchased a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in October 2014 from Lowes. Thinking that this refrigerator though a little higher price, it would be a better refrigerator. I was wrong! Shortly after purchase I noticed water freezing in the bottom of freezer. Had a repairman with warranty company come out to fix it. Also had a bad taste in the water that took over a month to clear up. Then the ice maker stopped working. Had the same repairman out. He was unable to repair said it needed a new ice basket. They had to order it. Several weeks went by. I called to find out that they could not find part needed, therefore the refrigerator needed to be exchanged. This has been ongoing for four months and I have yet to talk to the correct person for the exchange. Every time I call I am put on hold for a long time and then told someone will call me back and they never do. I am so disappointed with KitchenAid! I will not buy their product again.

It is now early 2014 and the ovens blue enamel lining is peeling and chipping and the racks have rusted. I contacted Lowes where we purchased the appliance and the extended warranty. A repair man was sent. Upon looking at the oven, he called KitchenAid and told them that the oven was not only chipped in many areas, but that those areas were beginning to rust. KitchenAid would do nothing, stating it was a cosmetic problem. Same with the warranty company. After further research, I have discovered I am not the only one with this complaint. Very poor cleaning performance. To get clean dishes, you become the person in that commercial who must wash the dishes thoroughly before putting them in the dishwasher. As my daughter says, this isnt a dishwasher, its a sanitizer. What doesnt come clean? A coffee cup that sat overnight (coffee stains remain), a dish that was rinsed and 90% scrubbed that was put into the dishwasher immediately (before the food dries), knives with even a tad of peanut butter that was not 100% scrubbed off. Salesman told me it was their best seller and could clean the spots off a cat. They tell me that for my dishwasher to perform this badly, it must be a lemon. After nearly an hour on the phone with KitchenAid , I learned that if they send a technician out to check it, Ill owe $120 for the service call if the only problem is that the dishes arent clean. Yup, unless a service code/error comes up, Ill owe for them checking to see why it cleans so poorly. Cleaning dishes does not constitute a functional failure therefore dirty dishes are not covered by the warranty. Another call with a supervisor and theyre finally sending someone out and promised not to charge me as long as the technician can see how the dishes dont come clean (not a problem...since that happens every time).UPDATE: A trusted service technician came out today and ran it through its paces. No error codes. Nothing wrong though he agreed that the dishes that were not cleaned were something that hes experienced too. He said that the machine is as good as it can be and noted that the poor cleaning is probably from the new engineering that uses much less water. He suggested using TOUGH and HI TEMP every time and that it might cut the dirty dishes down to 10% or so. Not exactly a rave review and since its not defective Im stuck with a dishwasher that only sanitizes. The tech told me that any decent dishwasher does NOT require you to wash the dishes first; He said that a good rinse that removes the food particles is enough. He agreed that a dishwasher should actually do much better than the selection of still-dirty dishes on my countertop after the testing. But per KitchenAid, theres nothing wrong with my machine. If youre okay with COMPLETELY washing the dishes before putting them into the dishwasher OR rewashing about 1/4 of the load after doing a thorough rinsing before this machine, then buy it. Its very quiet and pretty. But if you expect a dishwasher to wash dishes well, dont say I didnt warn you. When you pull your dishes out after doing a load in this machine, you will remember this cautionary tale. Ill admit that I usually dismiss one or two bad reviews -- that person must be super picky or to the unit was a rare lemon. Im here to tell you that IF you get a machine like mine, and you go to KitchenAid for support, youll be logging on to write a review that continues my warning to others.

We purchased our top of the line Kitchenaid Gas Range/Oven in 2019. When we use the locking mechanism to lock the electronic panel on the top, it seems to work properly on the oven but it does not lock the range. As a result there have now been many times we brush by the knob for the gas range and it will begin leaking the gas without the ignite. This has happened numerous times even when my cat walks by, or we brush by the stove, unloading groceries. The knob turns slightly and the gas begins to leak. At one time we had the whole room fill up with gas bc we did not know it was on (we believe our cat must have brushed by) and the 12X24 room was filled with gas. I am working with the warranty team but this is a big safety concern for my family of 4 plus 2 pets.

Stay away from the Steam Oven. We purchased this double wall oven which is a high-end Steam Oven on October 9, 2014. I cleaned it for the first time last week. The door does not seal between the panes. They are now streaked. There are big stains in the floor of each oven from the steam cooking. This is not able to be cleaned. I called Kitchen Aid, 800-422-1230. I was told the staining is normal. It is considered cosmetic and not covered under warranty. The doors are also cosmetic, even though I would need a repair man to disassemble the doors in order to clean them. I would not purchase this high-end item again, EVER. Although it cooks wonderfully, I want it to look clean. I am going to pull out the oven and purchase a different unit because having a double wall oven that cannot be cleaned is out of the picture in my house, as I am sure it is in yours.

The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. When it came time to purchase a gas range I decided to ditch the so called American made KitchenAid brand and go with the Bertazzoni (Italian manufacturer, family business-6 generations strong). NO WAY was I going to purchase yet another KitchenAid that would need repair within the first year. I knew that I was taking a warranty risk as it was going to take 8 months to get my cabinets but I expected KitchenAid products to be high quality. However, in less than 8 months of actual operation the microwave has died and from what I’m reading on this site it can’t be repaired so I’m out over $500. Kitchenaid dishwasher broken for 2nd time in 3 years. Weve had a repairman out once already at a cost of $200 to fix an electrical problem with the control panel. I watched him as he reconnected some word, and got the power to return. Worked for about another year and its broken again. Obviously, the front sensor panel is defective. Ive never seen such crap. My old Maytag which just wore out after 14 years, was replaced with the KitchenAid which consumer reports was the most reliable. He suggested that I not try to use that feature again because it will happen again and that Kitchen Aid tends to overheat. Repairs are expensive since the entire oven has to be removed from the wall and the back removed to access the fuse. 4 years ago when we built our new home, we bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher - retailed at $1800. The big attraction was how quiet it was supposed to be - and it is. However, in the past 8 months the control panel has gone out THREE times! At $150 for the part, and another $150 for service call and labor to replace it, it has reached the point of absurdity. The cycle times are also erratic. Sometimes it will take 4 hours! to go through a normal wash cycle, and others maybe 2. It has seemed to clean well, and it is quiet.
