KDTE204ESS - 24 inch dishwasher - Looks Nice but is trash. Bought in 2017 and ripping it out in 2020. Bad Soap dispenser in 2017 - serviced and replaced. Not cleaning dishes in 2017 - serviced and cleaned spinners not fixed. Had to rinse/clean dishes before running because they were always still dirty if we didnt from 2017 until now. Leaking on floor from broken sensor seal now in 2020. Was told by repairman that the pump doesnt turn the spinner cleaners because the pump is weak and has no pressure. So 700$ to fix the dishwasher and no guarantee that it will work any better with same crappy pump.

When I was a kid my mom loved KitchenAid but we bought a Bosch because the style we wanted. After it failed miserably I said we will purchase a KitchenAid. We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher in 2014. We Paid for installation also. With it we bought A warranty. After just over two years, the top rack of the dishwasher failed. The top rack will not slide out and weve found metal ball bearings in the dishwasher that we assume are from the side rails. So frustrating... This is standard use and it is crap. When I called to get it repaired I was told that this type of repair is not covered by the extended warranty and the estimate was 2/3rds. The cost of the dishwasher. I was talking to my mom and she told me Son they will take care of it... They didnt and I told her It is not the brand it used to be. The top rack finally completely broke and now we have a bottom rack only. We are so over it and so sad.

Our microwave was bought in 2007 and it is terrible. The door is cracked where they put the screw in too tight. The biggest concern is that it turns on by itself. We have already had it repaired once because it would not heat correctly, of course, not under warranty! Now, like many others, we get an F2 locked message and have to unplug it or the microwave runs by itself. What a terrible product. We bought all our KitchenAid products--microwave, oven, refrigerator and dishwasher--at Lowes and they have only lasted five years. Even the refrigerator was cheaply made!

Since posting the initial review, I was contacted by a KitchenAid engineer who scans online reviews about their dishwashers. Im happy to say that the dishwasher has now been repaired at no cost to me. Hopefully the replacement rails and adjusters will last longer than the original ones did. Im very pleased that KitchenAid stepped up to make this right. Ive been a loyal customer of KitchenAid and will continue to be in the future. But this is only a great dishwasher if it stands the test of time and thats yet to be seen.

We bought a dual oven Kitchen Aid True Convection Oven with Induction cook
We bought a dual oven Kitchen Aid True Convection Oven with Induction cook top (Model YKFID500ESS). We started noticing blue flakes in the rag when cleaning the upper oven. Then 2 weeks after the warranty was up the surface started flake away in the front edge of the bottom surface of the upper oven. When we contacted Whirlpool they said this wasn’t a recorded problem from anyone else and they would not be covering it. They told me they would have just used touch up paint even if it was still under warranty. We luckily had bought an extended warranty and when they came out the tech said it was not repairable. The warranty company covered it under their lemon clause. We then ordered another identical range to replace it thinking it was a one of problem. I checked out the new range before I accepted it and found the same issue with the surface in the same location already bubbling. We would not accept the range and had it returned to the store. I now have to contact the store and look for another option because I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance. Whirlpool needs to come clean about this issue and everyone with this model needs to take a close look at their top ovens surface.

We remodeled our kitchen in July of 2006. We installed all new KitchenAid appliances. The slide-in gas range/oven (model # KGSA906PSS01) is a terrible product. I had 2 service calls on the oven in the first few years. Once the 5 year warranty had expired the motherboard had to be replaced, followed by the gas valve, the sparker module and the gas range circuits. Buying a new oven now seems like a smarter move. The customer service was unsympathetic and didnt even try to stand by their product.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

I owned a KitchenAid gas stove (model KGSA906PSS) since 2005. The control board has been replaced twice. The first problem I had I could not turn the stove off. The second problem was I could not turn the stove off, had to use the house circuit breaker. The final problem occurred today, I heard a continuous beeping sound in the kitchen and the stove was burning. The control panel was not on, the stove was extremely hot, smoke filled the kitchen and there was a continuous red glow on the back wall, inside the stove. I turned off the main breaker and call New York Bravest. If we were not home at the time our home would have surely been damaged by fire. I also have a nonworking Kitchen Aid (model KHMS155lSS) that has been serviced three times, no heat. Pay close attention to your appliances by Kitchen Aid. PROTECT YOUR FAMILY.

We purchased a nearly $4000 KitchenAid refrigerator on May 22, 2019 (KPFC704FSS). Within a year (June 17, 2020, the ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator stopped cooling. During the course of the next two and a half months, a new compressor was installed. The fridge began to cool again, but no ice was being made. A new ice maker was ordered, but Whirlpool initially refused to provide it at no charge. Eventually, the company relented and a new ice maker was installed on July 16. Within days of installation of the ice maker, there was still no ice being made. After more phone calls, we were offered a voucher for a new refrigerator of any kind or a new KitchenAid fridge identical to the one we had. We agreed to a new KitchenAid refrigerator be delivered. BIG MISTAKE!After no delivery or delivery notice for three weeks, on August 17, 2020, a call was made to the appliance store to determine the delivery status of our new replacement refrigerator and we were told to call back on September 16 —perhaps by then a there would be an answer to our question of ‘when?’ Presently, there is no known delivery date; not even a known month of possible delivery. Throughout the past three months, and who knows how much longer, the appliance store has continued to do its best; however, KitchenAid/Whirlpool has failed all ‘reasonable standards’ of good corporate consumer service. Never again will a Whirlpool product be purchased by us.

And within the last month (after ~5 months of use), the green clean light no longer resets automatically like it is supposed to when the door is opened after removing clean dishes. All kinds of bells and whistles that are really cool but they failed so quickly? And lights arent covered by the warranty?!?! Really!?!?

After Katrina devastated our home, we lost everything. My husband and I didnt have much to repair our home so when we had to select our major appliances we knew they had to last a very long time. We believed in the KitchenAid/Whirpool company. We purchased the stackable washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stove and french door fridge. Within the first two years the microwave went out. The cost of the repair was half the cost of the microwave. After that the fridge went out. We paid $265.00 for the repair. The following year the fridge went out again with the same cost in repair. Year 4 our washer went out with a part costing over $300.00. That same year my oven thermostat became a problem with a bill of $100.00 just to look at it. Now today after paying $198.00 for a repair guy to look at my fridge (which continues to run at 54 degrees) we learned that it will cost over $800.00 to fix the freon hose which is located behind a bunch of other parts and compressor. We trusted this company but it has been an expensive nightmare!!! We can not afford the repairs and the additional cost of wasted food and trips to the local laundromat each week. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCTS FROM KITCHENAID/WHIRPOOL!!!! IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND YOU WILL SPEND JUST THE SAME ON REPAIRS. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE MY FAMILY LIVES EVERY DAY!! THEY SUCK!!

KitchenAid double gas range (model KGRS505XSS01) burner failed on arrival; knob failed after six months, not covered by warranty. (We tried to force the knob and bent the pin.) That cost $185. Another knob failed one month after warranty ran out. Estimate for same repair is $230. Stainless steel surface is stained, scratched, and discolored. I had trouble on the phone with Sears service company, A&E Services. I was on hold for an extended time as they were having technical difficulty, and eventually I got cut off. Parts available from Sears and from Whirlpool for $59 vs. $80 quoted by A&E Services.

2 months ago, purchased new counter-depth KitchenAid from Sears. It never reached safe temp, and was 68 degrees after first week. Woke to spoiled food, and alarm beeping. Fast forward two months, and this refrigerator has turned our summer into numerous calls to Whirlpool (where you wait 45 min on hold before reaching anyone), 4 service appointments, (where you must be present at home waiting, for a 5 hour window), parts replacement, (must wait at least a week for parts), followed by still nonfunctioning refrigerator, then, start process over, again!!! We have had 3 service calls in the 2 month, now waiting for a fourth, each with major parts repair, only to still have 68 degrees, NON-FUNCTIONING, $3,000 refrigerator!!! Spare yourselves, if you can by staying clear of KitchenAid/Whirlpool. Tell your friends and family!!! I wouldnt wish this experience on ANYONE!!! They refuse to exchange or refund. Only continue to attempt to repair... UGH!!!

My KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS35FX is 18 months old and has worked fine up until a few days ago when it just went completely dead. I didnt buy the extended warranty because I think they are a ripoff. I immediately started looking online for possible causes and solutions. It quickly became apparent that the problem was the thermal fuse. I called KitchenAid customer service 3 times, trying to get them to give me some help and what I got was ticked off. The first thing they told me was that I need to make sure and run hot water into the sink before starting the dishwasher, because the thermal fuse was overworked trying to get to the optimal temp, in this case when it failed, because I had the dishwasher set to sanitize. My issue is that I almost always start the washer right after dinner when I have finished rinsing off the dishes in hot water. They argued that the water needed to be 105, and I asked who in hell stands at the sink with a thermometer checking water temps? Why would they use such cheap and flimsy parts on a machine that I spent close to $900 on? If theres a sanitize feature, why do I have to worry that its going to wreck my machine? Next, they asked what temp my hot water heater is set at and did I know it was supposed to be 120. I said thats right where mine is. Then they suggested I could still spend $250 for their extended warranty and my repair would be covered. They refused to acknowledge that they are fully aware of these defects and refuse to make good on them. It is their cheap design and my tough luck. I called for repairs from the business that I bought the machine from and the tech told us that there is a harness kit for the wiring to keep it stable that KitchenAid came up with, because the connections would become loose from vibration, thus burn out the fuse when it became stressed. So they know they have a problem and they created a fix for it, but dont just fix it on their dime. They expect the consumer to do it. The service call and part cost me $170. I dont have money to waste on this ripoff.

Where do I start? I am NOT happy with KitchenAid at all. First, my brand new ovens blew a thermostat when self-cleaning for the first time. Then my dishwashers spring in the door broke. Guess I didnt learn my lesson, so I bought a KitchenAid fridge. First fridge quit after 6 days and ruined everything inside. They sent a new fridge finally and the icemaker never has worked and still doesnt. Finally, my microwave which has lasted the best out of ALL my KitchenAid appliances has now broken a spring that controls the door. I DO NOT RECOMMEND KITCHENAID products to anyone. If you dont live in the city... forget customer service, there is NONE!!!

I have a KitchenAid double wall oven, convection on top. While running the self-clean on the top oven for the first time, the oven door glass shattered about 1.5 hours into the cycle. There is a near identical complaint on this website. KitchenAid will cover the part, but not the labor. I had shattered hot glass all over my kitchen floor because it slides out the bottom crack. If youre thinking of buying KitchenAid major appliances, read the letter I recently sent to KitchenAid below. I got a legalistic form response offering nothing, not even an apology. They even got my name wrong. Never again.I am writing about a series of problems I have had with several large KitchenAid appliances. I have never written a complaint letter before, but the coincidental problems with your products reminds me of the planned obsolescence complaints from 30 years ago about American made cars. I thought about just posting all of this on the internet, but thought I should give you a chance to respond first. Here is my story. On December 2, 2004, I bought three major KitchenAid appliances as a part of a high-end kitchen renovation. A built in refrigerator was the big ticket item, but I also bought a gas stove/electric range, and a silent dishwasher, all brushed silver. Together, the three items cost me $11,494.35.Everything worked fine until this past spring, but within six months, all three appliances have had major problems. The compressor on the refrigerator failed. You covered the parts, but I paid over $600 in labor. A hinge on the door of the dishwasher rusted out, and I replaced it for over $300. Currently, the washer motor on the dishwasher is screaming every time it runs. Ive been quoted a cost of about $500 to replace it. What about the stove? This past summer the small control board (near the dials) failed, and I had to replace that at a cost of over $400. Last week, the large control board misfired, turning the oven my 16-year old daughter was using to make cupcakes on to clean mode, locking the door, setting the cupcakes on fire, and sending plumes of smoke throughout the house. Luckily, I was home from work with an injury, and thought to flip the circuit breaker. The fire died after about an hour, and the door opened when I put the breaker back on. I just replaced the big control board at a cost of over $500.All told, Ive paid over $2,200 to repair very expensive appliances that are less than 10 years old, and I still have a screaming silent dishwasher. How do you explain this? Planned obsolescence? If so, you certainly have the timing down pat. So why am I writing? I am hoping you will do the right thing by me and in making appliances that last. What is the right thing to do for me? Cut me a check for $2,200? Fix my dishwasher for free? Give me all new appliances and install them? Send me a letter of apology? Im not sure. I will leave that to you. I do hope someone responds. It might be cathartic for me to post a bunch of nasty reviews on the internet, but I hope there is a more constructive alternative.

I purchased a KitchenAid French door bottom freezer for a long awaited, muc
I purchased a KitchenAid French door bottom freezer for a long awaited, much needed kitchen remodel. I thought I did my homework on price, reliability and quality. Obviously, I did not do a good job. The fridge was purchased and shipped in late September 2010 and sat in the garage with all of the other components of the kitchen that were ordered and delivered. I wanted everything here before the contractor started work. The fridge was one of the last things to be installed late December, early January 2011. In the beginning of Dec 2011, I noticed some white water spots in front of the fridge, just thought I had spilled some water and hadnt noticed. Came to find out too late, since the warranty is one year from purchase date, that a sheet of ice was forming in the bottom of the freezer compartment (someone else on this site mentioned the same thing) and then slowly melted at the edge of the freezer door and dripping on the new hardwood floors. After pulling the unit out found the floor board under the edge of the door was warped.I spoke to customer service. Their solution was to pay over $300 for a six month warranty since the unit was less than 18 months old, which I did not do. They then set up an appt for a service call through AE Factory Service with a price of $130(any repairs made would be over and above that) for them to come out which would take 2 weeks. After thinking about it, I decided that was a ridiculous price for a service call and decided to cancel it. I called a local appliance repair company and they could have come out that day if I had been home. Price was $35 and that will go toward any repairs that are done. Makes you wonder why the company that KitchenAid refers you to such an expensive repair company. Do they have any interest in that company? Repairman that is coming out tomorrow said he has this particular repair down to a science, obviously having done it numerous times before. After spending over $2,300 for a refrigerator, the last thing I expected was to be having problems in less than a year of use from a company that I had always considered to have quality product and service. But it certainly seems like KitchenAid has gone the way of too many American corporations, that the quality of their products and the consumer is the least of their concerns. I will be mentioning to my contractor, who is very sought after for kitchen remodels in our area, that if his clients are considering any KitchenAid products they should reconsider their choice. Also, to anyone that mentions to me that they are buying a new refrigerator, buyers beware! After reading these other reviews for over an hour I am amazed that a class action lawsuit hasnt been filed yet. When will companies get it that all the consumer wants is value for the dollar spent and good customer service?

We purchased a KUDE40 dishwasher in January of 2011 complete with stainless steel interior. The top rack glides keep popping open, letting the rack fall off. To make matters worse, the plastic wheels fell off the top adjustable rack due to the breaking of the plastic pieces that hold the wheels in place. Of course, this happened right after the year warranty was up. Luckily, I saved the service call and ordered the part online for $25 each and replaced the parts myself. Based on what I have read on other places on the internet, this is a problem for everyone and KitchenAid will do nothing about it. I will not buy another KitchenAid dishwasher and plan to tell as many people as I can not to buy one either.KitchenAid needs to listen to the public and fix this issue free of charge. If it happens to you, order the part online and carefully disassemble about 4 parts to replace the plastic piece with the wheels. A small screw driver to pop off the plastic parts was all that was needed and we used the other side as a guide to what goes where were putting it back together. Total time: about 15 minutes to replace one side. The part is the same for the right and left sides. Save yourself the service call!

To KitchenAid Dishwashers: Compliments and thanks! KitchenAid has stepped up big time, so I want to update my November 7 negative review of dishwasher model # KDFE204EWH. This morning, we got a very nice phone call from KitchenAid’s customer care people. They will pay for the part replacement and the installation labor. In a happy coincidence, their local authorized service operation happens to be the same (first-rate) dealer we bought the dishwasher from, so I know the follow-through will be there. Two takeaways: At least one of the “squawking platforms” that we used for our complaining this past week did the trick, so complain widely! And It likely also helped that we promptly registered our purchase with KitchenAid, so they already had all the details.

Well for the send time our expensive KitchenAid Built-in Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer Failed. It is almost 10 years old. The refrigerator repairmen from Judd and Black Electric arrived about 12:00 and fussed around with our fridge for an hour. In my opinion they didnt have a clue really and ** thought they were rude. At the end of the process they said the main control module was out, KitchenAid didnt make the part, it wasnt available anymore and they couldnt fix the KitchenAid KSSC48QMS01 side by side built in refrigerator. Period. They said that Core Centric could rebuild the control board but they didnt offer to take it out or send it in to Core Centric. The entire afternoon I researched the issue and learned that there are several companies that will rebuild the control board for about $100, found a YouTube Video on how to remove it and learned the serial number (W10219463-119) of the offending part. I will NEVER buy a KichenAid product again.

I have had this stove for 5 years. It is stainless steel but the top griddle area has all rusted! Also, when I used the self clean program it fried the entire control panel which was expensive to replace even under warranty as they did not cover the service charge and it took 2 months to receive the part. I had a repeat of this problem again, so the panel needed to be replaced. I now have to steam clean my oven which does not work effectively! Also, measuring the oven temperature is NEVER close to the temperature on the display panel. I would never buy another KitchenAid stove again. The fan is very loud as well. I use my microwave as my oven instead of using this stove. Expensive and poor quality!

I wish I had seen this site before we purchased our KitchenAid Stainless Steel range, Model #YKESS907. One year after buying, we tried the self-cleaning function for the first time. It blew out the thermostat, shut down the front panel, and locked the oven. I had it replaced under warranty and didnt think to try it out again, until one year later. Turned it on and exactly the same thing happened. My retailer picked up the cost of the thermostat but I paid the $175 service call. Once up and running, I turned on the self-cleaning function with the service guy still there. He left and 90 minutes later, it blew again.Sounds like I am ** in regard to Kitchenaid doing anything about it. Anyone know a lawyer who owns one as well? $2300 plus tax for an appliance that doesnt do what it is supposed to do.

Two years ago I bought what I thought was a beautiful new refrigerator (Model KFFS20EYMS01). It was a lot of money for a teacher. However I was excited to replace my 20 year old Whirlpool. What a dumb mistake. I thought Id done my research but apparently not. Six months after the warranty had worn out the machine began to over chill and making a racket of noise. After jumping through hoops and many many angry phone calls to KitchenAid and their repair contractors they agreed to pay for the repair. But it didnt fix the problem. This went on for two months. It was a nightmare. Now a year later, again the machine is building up ice. Do not buy a KitchenAid. I will never again.

I have recently and angrily blogged about my KitchenAid dishwasher as well as the other appliances. That wasnt the only issue with the dishwasher either. The springs on both the dishwasher and the microwave broke leaving the doors to open precariously. My husband was able to fix the dishwasher with a $5 piece of plastic, yes, thats right, plastic piece that fit on the pulley system that opens the door properly. Of course, that would have been a $100 operation had we had a repairman do it. Where is our Consumer Ombudsman?

Our $600 KitchenAid microwave failed after less than 2 years. I spoke with customer service about repair, and was told that replacement parts are not made for this item as its a countertop appliance. Was not marketed as such - was sold to me as an installed piece with a matching trim kit. I was told that I would just need to purchase another microwave given that Im out of warranty. Very disappointing to discover that a seldom-used microwave that retails for that much money cannot be counted upon to last for 2 years. Sadder still that KitchenAid is not willing to stand behind their product by at least offering a discount toward the purchase of a replacement product. Based upon this experience, I will not purchase another KitchenAid appliance.

Architect Series II Model KDTE704DBL0 is a $1,799 piece of junk. We purchased this top of the Kitchenaid line dishwasher to replace a 16 year old Bosch dishwasher. It was installed on May 11, 2015. Just two years later, in May, 2017, the control panel which operates the entire machine failed. It was still under warranty (labor not covered). It took a week to get the part which was replaced on May 26, 2017 at the cost of $100 for labor. About two weeks later, on June 10, 2017 the replacement control panel failed. This time it took over two weeks to get the replacement part. It was installed at the end of June. The owner of the appliance store gave me a break and only charged $50 labor this time.On Thursday, September 7, 2017 the second replacement control panel failed. And I am once again without a dishwasher. I have not yet heard when the third replacement control panel might be delivered and installed. And even when the dishwasher is repaired... After this how can I have any confidence that it will work for long? It was a horrible decision to buy this dishwasher. The price was three to four times the cost of the average dishwasher. I thought we were purchasing a quality product that would last for many years. I am so disappointed by how unreliable this dishwasher has proven to be. I wish I had stuck with the Bosch. My sister bought a Bosch for $1,200 a few months before I needed to replace my 16 year old Bosch. Its working fine and she loves it.

Now this new one is less than 2 years old and the rollers on the top rack have broken (they are plastic). Then when I set the buttons to run the washer, it would act like it was going to start, then cancel and drain! Found out today from the repairman that this is a common problem. The pump is out! Says this happens frequently usually within the first 5 years! Thankfully I did purchase the extended warranty but on a dishwasher that cost nearly $1,000 one should not have to! I will NEVER purchase a KitchenAid again! Also, bought KitchenAid Refrigerator a year ago. And have already had to replace the ice maker and had a service call about a leak in one of the hoses! Then they said we needed a new oven gas valve but they dont have the part. Ive spent almost as much on repairs as I paid for the oven and its only 1 1/2 years old. I called Customer Service to complain but they were not concerned. All they wanted to do was to sell me a service contract that is half the cost of a new oven for just one year coverage. We purchased a new refrigerator 2 weeks ago. The first one that was delivered was defective and after sending out a repair crew that could not fix it, it was replaced with a second defective refrigerator. After spending hours on the phone, KitchenAid sent out a repair company that stated the entire compressor and coils needed to be replaced and compared it to a new car needing a brand new engine and suggested having KitchenAid deliver us a new refrigerator. We requested that KitchenAid either deliver a brand new working refrigerator or pick up the defective one and refund us our money so we can buy another refrigerator elsewhere. KitchenAid refused and told us they just cant help us even though the refrigerator never worked from day 1 and is under warranty for 30 days. We spent a lot of money for a brand new refrigerator and do not want a rebuilt model when we paid for a new one. We have been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks now, have spent numerous hours taking off from work waiting for delivery and repair people and KitchenAid is not willing to assist us or even offered us any kind of concessions to make this situation right. When I emailed KitchenAid about service to the unit under a good faith extension of the warranty, a customer service agent responded and informed me that my only recourse since the warranty was two days out of service was to purchase an extended warranty (over $250) or pay for a service call. Never ever buy KitchenAid appliance, service is garbage, product is garbage, warranty is garbage (warranty with Whirlpool company). I spend lot of money for KitchenAid appliance but after 1 year my KitchenAid appliances broke down, every single month. I called to Whirlpool for warranty. They sent a technician twice after I called 40 times, when the technician arrived, I knew more about appliances then he did, I dont know how they got hired. After 2 months passed and they couldnt find whats the issue, they said they will replace the fridge; a month passed and attempted to delivery a new fridge. When the delivery people arrived they said they cant deliver the fridge to the apartment because the fridge was too big (keep in mind they were the delivery guys). So they left and said to reschedule. We rescheduled, and a month later another delivery attempt was made by different delivery ppl but they gave the same answer which was to reschedule because the fridge is too big and that they need a technician on hand to remove the fridge doors so it can go in the apartment. So now we had to reschedule for the 3rd time... 4 weeks later we receive a call from the KitchenAid delivery department and said that if we would like the delivery done on a Saturday, I said that I was busy on Saturday and that if we have waited 4 months for this. Lets wait another 2 days and deliver the fridge on Monday, the representative said that Saturday is the only day for the delivery and that the delivery company wont be working with KitchenAid anymore. They have internal issues. So now we are trying to reschedule for the 4 times and 5 months have passed since this headache has started... A job that any other company would have fixed in 1 week is taking KitchenAid so far 5 months. I am calling the customer service every day trying to get the fridge resolved. But Im being pushed around from customer service to product and exchange department to delivery department to other departments. The KitchenAid Warranty Department should be investigated and see why are they taking people’s money and making them feel assure that once the appliances are broken, they will fix it; but instead they are a fraud.

An unusual problem occurred with my 1999 refrigerator. A screw broke inside
An unusual problem occurred with my 1999 refrigerator. A screw broke inside one of the back wall brackets that hold the shelves. I called KitchenAid for an authorized factory dealer thinking their experience would know how to resolve the problem. KitchenAid informed me the cost to send someone would be $129 plus parts, and if the tech stated it could not be repaired, they would offer something towards the purchase of a new refrigerator. The tech was not able to get the broken screw out of the bracket. I called KitchenAid in his presence, and they refused to stand by their original statement. The tech called his employer, A&E Service Co. and was told to do the best he could. He claims he inserted another screw near the broken one and put tape across the top and bottom of the bracket to hold it. He said this is a temporary repair that might last 3 months and then I would have to buy a new refrigerator. A&E charged me $166.20. I complained stating that wasnt the quote I received, and the tech was not able to fix the problem. They said they will reimburse me $26. I feel because the refrigerator was not able to be repaired, I should be reimbursed the full amount (A&E Factory Service, 35 Melville Park Rd, Melville, NY 11747, tel.# 800-905-9605). The tech arrived on January 7. I spoke to KitchenAids repair department, customer service, and the sales department stating what I was initially told about partial compensation towards a new refrigerator. Each department refused based on the year of the appliance. This is a very unusual matter. The tech noticed only very light items are placed on the 2 shelves involved. He said he never saw anything like this in all his time as a repair person. He noted it wasnt weight that caused the bracket to separate from the back wall. Am I entitled to a full reimbursement from A&E since they could not fix the refrigerator and I will eventually have to buy a new one? Is KitchenAid responsible in any way?

I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with KitchenAids failure to stand by their product. I purchased a $3000 stainless steel fridge last year and my fridge is still under warranty, but because the rust is cosmetic, KitchenAid feels no obligation to stand by their expensive stainless steel product and Ive been told that it is rust resistant, but not rust proof. They say all stainless steel can rust in certain environments. I have only used soap and water and never used a stainless steel cleaner or corrosive or abrasive product on the fridge and it is in my newly built and dry house. It is under a year old and I wonder what itll look like in another year. Kitchenaid offered me the opportunity to extend my warranty for hundreds of dollars, but offered no repair or replacement of the rusting door panel I called them about. What kind of stainless steel exists? Low-quality stainless steel with impurities. My stainless steel Bosch range hasnt started rusting and I clean it constantly with various cleaners. Clearly KitchenAids product is inferior and low quality.

I purchased a stainless steel side by side for about $1700.00 in July of 2013. Here are the issues with it and please keep in mind, two service calls were made to look at it, more on that later. The stainless steel started to show rust spots all over both doors. You cannot fill your glass with ice from the dispenser in the left door when the right door is open which is very annoying. The left door does not close all the way when you swing it shut. It looks closed and the open light goes off but it does not make a seal and you have to push it to shut all the way. It is extremely loud when it makes ice. The water filter replace sign came on after about 3 months and the filters are about $50 each and it beeps at you 3 times when you get water until you replace the filter which is very annoying.I called about 9 months before the warranty ran out and they sent some guy who was trained to tell me it was everything else in my kitchen that was wrong except the refrigerator. I called again about a month later because the rust was getting worse and the second guy that came out said the doors needed to be replaced and that he would order them. Within a year of purchase, both locked up when I cleaned them for the first time, and I could not use them without a tech coming to my house to repair. Most recently, the electronic range control on my Architect II went on my three-year-old gas range. So back to the repair techs. I will never purchase another KitchenAid stove. WHAT? Surely that is a joke, this company makes good products and I thought would stand behind their warranty as in replacing something quickly. In 5 Business days when THEY make a decision, all my food will be spoiled ($600 down the drain). If they know they have an issue, and my issue is known, and they determine it is best to replace the appliance, why in HELL does it take 5 business days to make that decision? Obviously there is an issue with this model.Do yourself a favor, find a different brand, or expect any issues that are essentially recalls to take 5 business days to decide upon and who knows how much longer to actually get appliance in house. I have called them 3 times, and no remedy. Just the standard it takes 5 business days to go before a review board... WTF? That is BS. We should have bought the Sub Zero. KitchenAid has gone the way of any other use to be good product. The customer service rep thought it comical that I would get on the social media sites and provide this information. If you are in the habit of spending 3K for a throw away item and like to buy new major products every year, this is the one for you. For the rest of us, run and find something else and make sure the company will actually do as they claim on the warrant in a reasonable time frame. The issue is a known problem with the compressor that causes a leak of refrigerant over time. The company has determined it is cheaper for them to replace the product rather than fix it with proper materials. Yet, they take 5 business days to make this determination? If it is a known issue with all the same error codes and profiles of the same problem, the right thing to do is to apologize to the customer and ask them when they are available to receive the replacement. Now I am out $600+ on food.

We bought our Kitchen Aid oven to replace the Jenn-air that was in our house when we bought it. We have had the stove one year 3 months and it completely stopped working, in the middle of supper. I am so disappointed. Paid a good chunk of money for it. What a hunk of junk. Never again.

We purchased a Kitchen Aid gas stove-top in August 2010, for $1,323. Today, I noticed that the knob for the fan was cracked in two places, because it is made out of cheap junk plastic. We barely ever used that fan. We bought a Kitchen Aid stove, based on their reputation, which apparently they no longer deserve. I asked them to replace the obviously defective piece, but they just copied and pasted a bunch of warranty paragraphs. So instead of replacing the knob for me, they would rather have me write reviews of their product. So here it is!

I currently own my second KitchenAid dishwasher. I had my first one for 21 years before we sold the house and it was still running-if it hadn't been 21 years old I would have moved it with me. When I bought my new house it had an awful dishwasher so we bought a new kitchenaid dishwasher and I love it. I have had very good luck with my kitchenaid dishwashers. Will have one in the next house too!

I had a new kitchen put into my 80-year-old house by a reputable, long-established DC firm. The kitchen itself is a delight, and I couldnt be more pleased. Because of the somewhat unusual footprint of the space, we were limited in our refrigerator options. I chose a stainless-steel Fisher-Paykel fridge and I love it; I had my own GE Profile range reinstalled. That left the dishwasher and the microwave. Kitchen Guild (the company that installed my kitchen) said I could get a deal by buying at least two KitchenAid appliances. I had never owned a KitchenAid product, but I thought they had a good reputation. What a mistake! The dishwasher started having problems with the LED display before the end of the first year. Finally, it froze completely, and I have not used it in over two years (the kitchen was installed 6 years ago). The built-in microwave with vent fan also began having problems almost immediately. First, the grid on the top fell off and broke; I called and they sent me a new one. Then, the handle fell off and they would not do anything about it! I super-glued it back on. Then, the replacement grid fell off; I super-glued that back on. Tonight I was preparing dinner and put some veggies in the microwave to heat up. The oven started making very loud, strange noises and then I smelled a strange, electrical smell. Obviously, there is something seriously wrong with the oven, and I cannot use it again. I now think I was offered a good package rate on these appliances because they were clearly lemons! I have never had such a negative consumer experience in my life! And I thought this was supposed to be a premium brand! Has anyone else had a similar experience with KitchenAid products? I paid a pretty penny for them and this is an outrage.

First off, I dont see how you guys are still in business. I bought a refrigerator and paid 3000.00 dollars for, and now it wont even cool in the fridge and freezer. I called KitchenAid and purchase extended warranty (my fridge is only 1 year and 2 months old). The warranty is for a year from factory. KitchenAid uses an third party to come diagnose the problem, and they dont even take the time to troubleshoot and fix it. I will never again buy a KitchenAid product. Their business is horrible and they dont give a ** about the consumer. This is unbelievable and Im going on three weeks without my refrigerator being fixed. Every time I call, its a different story. It will be a miracle if it ever gets fixed... Do not buy Kitchen Aid... Never again.

Our microwave has failed more times than I can count: two circuit boards, the handle, the plastic grill, etc. The first failure was its turning itself on randomly. This unit is a fire hazard and the quality is absolutely the worst I have seen. I am a product design engineer and the plastic materials chosen are the cheapest and the design of the mechanical support features are like a rookie engineer did the work and knew nothing about plastics. The cosmetic cover and the air grill are now held on with black electrical tape. All of our KitchenAid appliances have had numerous failures. As near as I can tell, their product line is a total joke. Dont buy any of it ever.

We purchased a high end KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in 2009, erroneously believing that KitchenAid products were of high quality. Wrong! In 2014 the refrigerator failed and was not repairable. Fortunately we had purchased an extended warranty and it was replaced with a new one, same model. In September, 2019, the replacement failed and was again not repairable. These are junk refrigerators with junk warranties as they do not last long enough to take advantage of repair and parts warranties. As they say, To forgive once is to be human. To forgive twice is to be a fool. Dont be a fool and buy a KitchenAid (Whirlpool) refrigerator.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher model: KUDS30CXWH7 in august 2012. I realize that is some time ago. I have been unhappy with this appliance since the first time I used it. The only positive thing I can say is it is more quiet than the previous dishwasher. I have the heavy duty cycle - it is no better than the normal cycle for cleaning pots or pyrex baking dishes. Please understand they are virtually clean when put in the washer yet not thoroughly clean at the end of the cycle. The heat dry cycle dries NOTHING so a dish towel or drying pad must be used daily.I also find it so odd that an appliance that is supposed to clean must also be cleaned with a special dishwasher soap otherwise it smells like a wet dog. I have had repair people here for a variety of dishwasher complaints - some have been remedied - but generally their comments are thats the way new appliances are. They dont clean thoroughly, they dont dry thoroughly, and they will smell unless you use dishwasher cleaner. An unhappy customer.

Unfortunately, I am joining a long list of customers who purchased the Kitchen Aid Superba microwave oven/oven built-in combination. After less than 5 years, the bottom oven door locks, without warning or just cause. KitchenAid is aware of this manufacturer defect, but chooses to ignore it, and refuse to resolve this issue. Turning off the circuit breaker should reset the computer, but dont count on it. The other solution you may be given is to turn on the self clean feature, cancel it after 2-3 minutes, and hopefully it will unlock. I am appalled that managers like Kia (ID 8592), has no concern for customers. Kia basically stated that after one year, warranties expire, it becomes the customers problem. The licensed technicians are stumped to fix the problem, but wont tell you until they collect a service call fee. What is even more outrageous is the model and serial number are inside the oven, but when the door is locked, you cannot not see the number. It is a no-brainer to relocate the model and serial number, so it is accessible when the oven locks up, because it will. The bottomline is, a class action lawsuit needs to be filed, and a national recall needs to go into effect. Please send me an email if you want to be included in this lawsuit. Send facts with your complete information to **. This is an obvious manufacturer defect which is a hazard. The oven light will not turn off, and the oven door locks for no apparent reason. I am writing to the president Mark Bitzer and the CEO Jeff Fettig about the issues that should be a concern to them. Others experiencing this problem should write to them at ** Benson, MI 49022.

My 5-year old KitchenAid dishwasher (Model: KUDP02FRSS3) pops open during run cycle. I have had 6 or 7 service calls, and none of which have fixed the problem for a few weeks or months. When working, we have good results as far as cleaning is concerned, unlike some other KitchenAid owners. I cannot count the number of times we have used a chair propped up against the door to complete a cycle. The door striker and/or latch have been replaced 3 times, while the springs and nylon cord have been replaced once.During this repair, the tech bent the hinges inward and installed a single rubber bushing on one of the hinges to increase friction with the door in the closed position. He would have installed 2, but he only had one. The door did stay closed for 2 or 3 months. Eventually, the single bushing worked its way off. Probably because the original hinge was not designed for this bushing. During my third most recent service call, the tech installed a new plastic latch. The machine would close but it would not start.I checked the CB and was advised on the phone to do a hard reset (i.e., leaving the CB off for 30 seconds or so). This did not solve the problem. When the tech returned, he was stumped by this problem. Looking at the new latch, I figured out the problem - the latch requires a wider striker to activate the power switch. The tech then installed the correct striker for the new latch. The door closed and the dishwasher worked for 2 or 3 days.My wife was afraid to tell me it stopped working again. When she did, I set up another service call. The same tech came out with no parts on his truck. He tried to bend the striker so it would stay latched - no go, the door would not stay closed. He then removed the door sea and found that the door striker and latch open with almost no effort. He decided to order a new latch and striker assembly - a new door seal and new hinges. These should come next week and when I get them, I have to call for another service appointment, which I should get 1-2 weeks after my call.In the meantime, I am using a small metal L bracket and a C clamp so we can use the dishwasher. There is no doubt that this product is defective in design construction and materials. I have spoken to KitchenAid and they claim no problems with this machine. In the end, KitchenAid/Whirlpool will get what they deserve, fewer customers! Fortunately, I have had an extended warranty from Sears and just extended it for a year. The lemon law requires 4 repairs within the preceding 12 months, the fourth being within 60 days of the third repair. Should the next repair fail, I will use every resource available to get a new machine, obviously not a KitchenAid, including filing a claim in small claims court.

Now they say that it is a sensor (or a board) and needs to be ordered but will take 1-2 weeks. Ive lost two full freezers loads full of frozen food because the freezer temperature wont go below 30 degrees. Repair man stated that this model has 6 boards that can go wrong and often do. Today, ice maker is not producing ice again! Have another call into serviceman. This is the most expensive ($3,700) and the most problematic refrigerator that Ive ever owned. We purchased this KitchenAid Household Ref. from Lowes. 4 1/2 months of owning it there started a loud clicking noise from the back of the unit, ice built up in the veggie drawer that it couldnt shut, and water from the left side of the ref. dripping down into the two shelving parts. Once the door is open along the way the water runs out onto my floor. On the way to close MORE water runs onto the floor and then down the front of the freezer that is on the bottom. Since the issue we have had KitchenAids preferred service AAA out of Howell MI come out for 3 different service calls. Each time I am told, The problem is fixed and you will have no more water leaking. I have white water stains in my trays and the stain on the front of the ref. due to the leaks and sitting water. After calling again today because it is STILL leaking I spoke with Melinda (Customer Service) with all she could offer me was at first a service call at my cost then returned with a no cost, I spoke to Tim (Supervisor for KitchenAid Tennessee office) who explained there was not a thing anyone could to but another service call. Who is going to pay for ANOTHER day off of work? This will be the 4th time I have had to take a day off of work for repairs to this refrigerator. A consumer should NOT have to clean up a water mess every time the unit is opened and the water streak down the front is not appealing. This is obviously an issue with the unit. I asked for the unit to be exchanged with the SAME unit and I was told that You would be eligible for a replacement at a discounted price. Are you serious? I already paid the full price for this unit.Something has to be done to not allow consumers to be buying nonworking items and costing more than the unit itself. I have bought many KitchenAid items and I will never buy again since this incident. The do not stand by the product but keep sending service people who either cant fix the problem or the problem is simply NOT fixable.

We purchased a KitchenAid double oven with the construction of our new home. Commencing with the installation there was nothing but malfunctions with the oven. The fan was bad; control board went bad and most importantly (and never satisfactorily resolved) the oven consistently failed to preheat at the correct temperature or to cook evenly. The oven consistently overheats between 40-50 degrees. Several holidays were less than satisfactory due to the condition in which the food was cooked. The oven was serviced several times over one year and problems were never resolved. Before warranty ended, demanded oven be replaced because lemon and was refused. Told the uneven temperatures and cooking was the way it was suppose to function. Not if you want to follow a recipe, it isnt!!!

We purchased a KitchenAid (R) 5-Burner Gas Freestanding Double Oven Range 4 years ago. Almost from the beginning, we have had problems, particularly with the controls. We have had to replace one, or possibly two (cant remember) of the handles, three times, all at our cost. They simply were stuck and would not turn. However, what is more of concern is that the controls will turn to the on position simply if I brush up against one of them. Oftentimes I will hear the click, click, click that alerts me that the controls have turned on but have not ignited. However, frequently, there is no click; I am just alerted to the fact the stovetop has turned on when I begin to smell gas. This seems to me to be a major safety issue. I have talked to the company, to no avail. They tell me its out of warranty and I would have had to address this issue within the first year. As these things go, I cannot remember when we first experienced the problem. I suspect I probably thought it was just a fluke at first and did not think much about it. But, regardless, I would think KitchenAid would want to assure that no one experiences a major gas leak due to their faulty equipment.

Beware of this company. Unfortunately Kitchen Aid /Whirlpool contracted with company. Cheap unprofessional, poor service and absolutely no customer service. Had tech guy from Field appliance. His name was Steven. Came over my house. Already complaining that he was an hour late because of his GPS. He proceeded to look at my refrigerator and say he wasn’t sure if it was a thermostat. He went outside and called whirlpool. Spoke to the tech named Bruce. Came back inside very frustrated and angry that he had to take my refrigerator completely apart. Therefore the evaporating system was behind my freezer panel. Took apart my entire freezer. He then complained that he told whirlpool this was not going to work. It was a waste of his time. Stephen then proceeded to re-put my door completely together while I was on the phone with Kitchen Aid to put a formal complaint because now he wants to change my motherboard of my refrigerator. When I came out of my bedroom he already packed and was ready to leave. I checked my freezer door and my door does not align correctly. Call him back into my house to fix it. He looked at it. Said he’s not fixing it. Find another tech. Gotten his vehicle and left. This is poor customer service. He then proceeded to write a fabricated report that I was aggressive and use foul language. Thank God I did record this gentleman. This gentleman is nothing but an habitual liar. Then I had tech-support Steve from field appliance supposedly a manager. Don’t know what they think a manager should be but the customer is always right, I felt this guy was not listening to a word I said. Apparently they must get a lot of customer complaints. I proceeded to tell this gentleman the story of what happened and told him that his tech was completely a liar. He continue to protect his employee and told me to call Kitchen Aid. Like I said no customer service. Very unprofessional. Poor service and fixing. I don’t think their techs know what they’re doing. They’re just second-guessing everything. And just want whirlpool to keep paying them to come out to keep fixing parts and pieces. Now I have an ice chest that doesn’t slide open and close and my door is completely off alignment. Just beware of this company and stay away. It’s a shame to Kitchen Aid now subcontract to this company that’s two hours away from our destination. Very cheap labor, cheap customer service and low quality work. Beware!

KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator model KFIS29PBMS01 - I had a new kitchen installed in my home September 2013. The contractor bought the appliances from his distributor but I picked out the brand and all of the models. Within one week of the installation of the refrigerator, end of September 2013 there was water and frost coming down from the inside of my refrigerator. A tech was sent and ordered upgrades for the ice maker. It took three months to get the parts. The problem get a little better but very little ice and very, very small. In March of 2014 some food started to thaw in freezer and we had to remove the food. The ice maker then stopped working. My refrigerator is now 18 months old and I no longer have warranty. I e-mailed KitchenAid. They have a record of the problem we had and the long wait. They did not answer the e-mail. I called the distributor where the appliances had come from and they told me I should have bought an extended warranty. I asked why would pay more money when they could not get it right when under warranty. I bought a new ice maker but still having problems. KitchenAid does not care about their customers. I had bought another entire kitchen from them 15 years and they were good. Their products are now nothing but junk and I bought their top of the line. I hope they go out of business.

I spent $411.67 on replacing one broken spring. Just eight months later in 4/2012, the spring broke again and cracked the glass on the door in the process. This time, the KitchenAid customer care recommended their new company, Factory Certified Care. I was unhappy about the spring breaking again so soon from the previous repair. And I was guaranteed that their own KitchenAid technicians, who only deal with KitchenAid products, provide a stellar repair service. However, the repair took two long days, and the technicians used graphs, sketches to figure out how parts go together, without seeming to be the experts they promised to be. Nevertheless, after the replacement of many parts, I paid another $463.63. Only 53 days later, two screws came falling out, unhinging the door. What kind of poorly made parts, workmanship and quality of service renders screws falling out some short weeks after a service call? I called their customer service immediately relating this problem and found their representatives completely frustrating and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and they were equally unpleasant. They knew only to recite their 30-day labor guarantee policy. Even if the part (screws/ brackets that was replaced) was under warranty, I am looking at spending at least another $100 just to have someone put back two screws. Furthermore, given my experience, what faith do I have that the screws they put back or other parts that they replaced/assembled recently wont be falling apart again just outside of the 30 days, rendering me to pay another sum for service call? I asked the supervisor why anyone in my situation would ever use their service again or purchase their products. They did not seem to care one way or another. There is absolutely no business that will thrive or sustain without reliability and a positive reputation. I spent two frustrating hours speaking with their customer service representatives to find myself at a dead end. I wrote to their customer service department to share this excruciating experience and never received a reply.

Twice, the microwave glass door on my Kitchenaid electric high speed microwave/convection oven unit has shattered into a million pieces when I have used self clean on the oven below. What is the value of a self cleaning oven if you cant use the self cleaning part? In addition, the spring on the oven door broke for no reason. This combination oven/microwave is a lemon!

Do NOT purchase Kitchenaid dishwasher model KDPE234GPS0. I purchased one on 21 APR 2018, model did not work, all it could do was fill with water and sit there for about 5 minutes and then drain. I removed the unit and exchanged it at a different store across town for the same model. I installed the new unit this morning of 24 APR 2018 and it appears to have the same problem. The unit will not agitate or spray water, whatever the term is. Ive recorded a video with my phone inside the dishwasher. All it does is fill, sit around for a bit, and then drain. I will more than likely be returning this for different model, if not a different brand entirely. I dont place any fault on Lowes for this failure, except for maybe selling this product to begin with. Theyve been more than helpful with my problems and I will continue doing business with Lowes.

We have an 18-month old KitchenAid refrigerator - high end model with the freezer on the bottom. It began to leak water that settled at the bottom of the freezer. After a time, it would freeze so much that it would eventually leak out onto the floor. We looked in the book - no help there. I found your forum and a problem just like ours (same model even). They said it turned out to be a grommet that was too small and that a new style had been developed. So we wrote to KitchenAid about this. They denied that there were any problems. After several conversations with them and a copy of one of your forum notes on this, they finally did agree to at least pay for the part. Well the appliance man came and fixed it. It was indeed the old style grommet. He said it happens all the time. We wrote to them again and asked them about paying the labor (part was about $12 and the labor is $100). No, they would not do this. Apparently, according to the repairman, this refrigerator is not the only one with this problem. This model is also sold by Maytag and some other - maybe Sears? Just slap a different name on them and they all have this problem. So buyer beware. Make sure that they check this out before you bring it home or you too will be paying the price to fix it. We really bought what we thought was a quality product (now that we are retired and didnt want to have to deal with repairs all the time). So much for that! KitchenAid support was of no help at all. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy another KitchenAid product!
