On Nov 18, 2015, repair person finally showed up with the part to fix the oven. Had to replace entire display module. Based on our experience with the oven, we are hoping we do not experience the same issues with the KitchenAid microwave and dishwasher that we had installed at the same time as the oven.

We bought a new Kitchenaid refrigerator French door bottom freezer model # KFIS29BBWH03. The Fan noise is horrible. Sounds like an Ambulance coming down the road. Very unacceptable. We also have ice on the back of the unit inside the refrigerator part which the latest service man, whom we have had four come, said it was a problem with the indoor ice. It also causes the shelves to be wet all the time. The service man has ordered a new computer board for that issue but says the fan noise is normal even though we can hear it throughout the house. Just want to throw this refrigerator in the trash but it was very expensive and if they could fix the noise problem I would be happy. But the noise is driving me up the wall. Wont buy anything from Whirlpool, who owns Kitchenaid and Maytag, again.

Update - In my November 5 complaint, I reported ice freezing on the floor of my KitchenAid freezer followed by water on the floor in front of the freezer after the freezer floor depression filled up. In another customer review with the same problem, the culprit turned out to be a duck-billed grommet and it was the same solution to my problem. What mystified me about my problem was that I could find no drain in the bottom of my unit that would have the duck-billed grommet attached to it that was prone to freeze up and stop the draining. It turns out the culprit is not in the bottom of the freezer, but several inches up and behind the back panel of the freezer. Our responding technician was very well versed regarding our problem and had the fridge fixed in about a half hour. This was no job for a reasonably competent homeowner to take on as it required a lot of dismantling, ice-chipping and hot water to fix before a new, improved grommet could be installed, which by itself took about 30 seconds to install from around behind the refrigerator. It seems that maybe more than a few of my model refrigerators were shipped with a defective grommet that has since been upgraded, so maybe complaints such as mine will become a thing of the past. At any rate, our fridge seems to be humming along just fine now. Thank you, KitchenAid telephone person, for setting up a service call that seems to have solved our problem.

KitchenAid Model KDFE304DWH0 Dishwasher - We purchased this new dishwasher
KitchenAid Model KDFE304DWH0 Dishwasher - We purchased this new dishwasher 3 months ago. Its very quiet and appears to clean dishes reasonably well, although we rinse our dishes thoroughly before putting them in the dishwasher. The problem is that it doesnt dry dishes well, even when the Heat Dry option is selected. The flatware basket and its contents are especially wet, as are the sides and door of the dishwasher itself.Weve had a service technician out 3 times, and he doesnt seem to know what to do to fix this problem. The second time he came out he replaced the controller. That change didnt help the problem at all. The last time he had a KitchenAid engineer on the phone trying to come up with a solution. Still no solution. We suspect this is a design flaw rather than defective manufacturing problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem on this model?

Our KitchenAid built-in electric/convection oven started a fire and burnt a turkey to a crisp because I made the oh-so-unthinkable mistake of basting it during cooking. The repairman came out and said its normal for the broiler to come on during the cooking cycle if the oven temperature falls, but I cant see how any appliance manufacturer can think this is a good idea. Aside from the fact that this feature makes conventional roasting and other types of cooking impossible, more critically, it represents a serious design flaw that makes the oven a fire hazard. I have contacted the CEO of Whirlpool about this hazard but I do not expect any satisfaction given the response KitchenAid had when a cheap relay on our 13-month-old refrigerator failed causing the temperature to rise and all the food within to spoil. They simply told us that since the fridge was one month past the warranty, it wasnt their problem. How can they justify making appliances that have the potential to harm people?

I purchased this dishwasher after reading reviews of lower priced units that were rated as cleaning as good as a KitchenAid. I have owned at least a half dozen dishwashers in the last 35 years and this is the ABSOLUTE WORST I have ever used. It is quiet, it is good looking, but it can spread dirt where none existed before. I have tried everything and to get clean dishes it must be set to MAX and HALF loaded to get your half dirty dishes clean, AND thats only if you remember not to put anything at the corners of the trays and they will come out clean and WET! The vent is so small on these units it is nearly impossible for the vapour to escape. This unit original price was $1,999 and it doesnt work 1/2 as good as a $350 Kenmore. Dont waste your money on this model KDTE704DSS0.

I purchased a new home in February of 2014. As part of the purchase, I upgraded all the builder appliances to top of the line KitchenAid appliances. Shortly after the initial warranty expired, I started having issues with all the appliances. $9,000 Fridge - the freezer is icing over and leaking on the floor. Dishwasher - cheap plastic bracket broke; cost me $300 to fix. Microwave oven - display panel malfunctioning and microwave light went off. Light stopped working after a year. You can buy a cheap microwave at Sears and the light wont go out for 10 years. Stove - this one is fresh, after you light the stove and walk away, the auto light clicker continues to go off. I would never buy these products again.

We bought our home in May 2011 with a one-year old KitchenAid oven. Last week, I used the self cleaning cycle for the first time. The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. It was covered with an oven tray so we did not see it but I now suspect that this was also due to a fault in the stove/heating. We have two KitchenAid ovens!

In 2007 I spent over 25K on KitchenAid appliances, one of which was a microwave convection oven that cost over $1700. In 2011 that unit failed because the heating element died. I was told by repair that it would be cheaper to replace the unit because even if repaired there was no guarantee it would last. No assistance from KitchenAid. I purchased a second KitchenAid microwave oven. Three years later it failed...The heating element died. When I contacted KitchenAid after numerous posts on social media and emails, they agreed to pay for the part but I would have to pay for the service call, which I did. Nine months later and the heating element has died again. I contacted KitchenAid and their response after numerous social media post was to offer me the ability to purchase a new microwave at discounted rate. The offer was only good for 48 hours. I did some research and found out that their discounted rate was the exact same price that the unit is sold at by major retailers. So now the company is being unethical by making me an offer that is supposedly below retail and asking me take a huge leap of faith and purchase a 3rd microwave? I feel like I have been taken advantage as Im sure many other consumers have felt by KitchenAids false advertising about the quality and workmanship of their product. My intelligence has been insulted by their feeble attempt to pass off the current retail prices for their units as special discounted rate that are being offered because of the issues I have had with my previous two microwaves. No one should purchase their products if they are willing to operate in this unethical manner. No one should purchase anything from a company that will not stand behind their products. I guess I will contact the local and national news outlets. Hopefully one of these agency will pick up my story as lesson to other consumers who are in the market for new appliances.

Kitchen Aid KUDS301XSS8 - This dishwasher is a piece of junk! Expensive & for no reason the computer board turns on & off during cycle if you stand in front of dishwasher! (Interrupting was cycles... Repairman told us to put it on control lock where it gets stuck in lock mode & beeps obnoxiously at you! This feature doesnt work.) Our biggest complaint & the one the repairman said he fixed ALL the time... is the wheels on top rack. We had the dishwasher less than a year & two, rack fell apart! Well not even a year after repair, it broke again! Do not buy this dishwasher!!! I have no idea why we ever listened to the lame sales guy at Sears... Hmmmm maybe the fact that he had been unemployed for quite sometime & the job was new... Should have been a sign!

I looked and looked at gas ranges - I was very excited to be able to use gas again. I selected this Kitchen Aid stove and was not told that the central oval burner, which I paid extra to have, would not provide more than a low flame. You buy the whole 5th unit for just pancakes only! The self-cleaning oven will not clean the sides of the oven, only the pan over the burner. The little top oven is meant only for warming, not baking or cooking because it cooks so unevenly that toast, food and cookies are done on the glass side and burned on the back side. I have had KA service people out twice and they say that thats the way it is and that it registers 350 degrees when checked. I could have bought an oven for less than 1/2 and had a better oven. Its not the company that produced my 30-yr-old KA mixer, is it?

Over ten times various major parts were replaced on my refrigerator. It NEVER WORKED RIGHT. Many times I was treated like an animal by KitchenAid customer service. I waited over 2 months for a new KitchenAid refrigerator. When it was installed, the veggie bin and meat bin (the 2 bins at the bottom) had dents in them. The very bottom bin was also skewed when inserted. I called the company I purchased the refrigerator from and they shipped me replacement bins. Upon installing the replacement bins, I again noticed the bottom bin was skewed. I took it out and discovered that a air movement component was affixed behind the bin was not properly installed. This poor installation prevented the bottom bin from going in straight. A week after the refrigerator was installed the water on the door stopped working. I am convinced this refrigerator is a lemon. It is being replaced at no cost to me. I am Very disappointed with KitchenAid.

I have a Superba Gas range. Im not sure how old it is since it came with the house. But we have spent hundreds of dollars in repairs. It started with the self clean option. It didnt blow out our panel, but warped, or melted some of the frame, and other moving parts. We have never been able to keep our oven door shut properly ever since. After calling the repair guy, he says the oven door hinges needed replacing. Expensive, but okay we did it. About 6 months later, the same thing happened. We needed to use a step ladder pushed against the door to keep it shut while cooking. About 2 months after that, the panel blew. Another expensive repair. One year later, our broiler no longer works, the door, is literally falling apart, and although the rest of it works, there are no lights on our panel, timer doesnt work, clock is off, cant even see what the temp is.At this point we are just letting it die instead of fixing it. Especially when the repair guy (after 3 visits about the ajar door) said he just doesnt know what else to do. After reading several forums, I have to say that the self clean function is the worst enemy of any oven, and it should be removed. Hide all the elements to make it easy to clean with soap and water, and thats good for me. There is no point in having the technology, if they cant see how it negatively affects and breaks the rest of the oven.

Double Oven Glass exploded - I was preheating my oven to make chicken nuggets. I put the chicken into the oven and when the oven reached 235 degrees, the inside glass of the top oven exploded. The inside glass of the oven broke into very tiny pieces and some pieces even managed to escape from the seam that broke during the incident and ended up on my floor. No one was injured, I had called KitchenAid and they told me to schedule an appointment for a technician to come at $129.00 (my expense) and then I will have to pay to the new glass to get installed.

Until now, Kitchenaid has been our choice in kitchen appliances. Two weeks ago, our Kitchenaid flooded our kitchen and four rooms in our basement. Obviously the Overflow protection float which was not impeded in any way, didnt work. Now the kitchen hardwood floor is being ripped out and replaced. Walls and ceilings have been repaired downstairs. Even the electrical system between the walls was damaged and had to be fixed. I called and spoke to a customer service representative and just wanted some answers. It is very apparent Kitchenaid doesnt care. I am so disappointed in this company and will never purchase from them again. The most expensive dishwasher.... Thousands of dollars for repairs!

We remodeled our kitchen in Aug. 2018 and bought matching, higher-end KitchenAid appliances to replace all the old ones. Nine months after installation, the upper rack in the dishwasher (Model #KDTE334GPS0) collapsed due to failed spot welds on the left-side rail. The welded areas were also very rusty. Luckily, the 1-year warranty had not expired yet and we were able to get the part replaced for free. But today the same top rack rail broke again due to the same failed spot welds! The weld sites are covered with rust again, just like before. Since the dishwashers warranty has expired, we will have to order the replacement part and fix it ourselves (for $44 with shipping) or hire an appliance repairman (not cheap). Ive had much less expensive dishwashers that lasted 15 years with no problems, including rails that that never broke. I would never waste my money on an overpriced KitchenAid appliance again. Maybe they should stick to stand mixers (mine is still working after 27 years).

Extremely disappointed that our Kitchenaid microwave magnetron has failed after only 2.5 years and requires $325 to repair (65% of the purchase price new). We have never put metal in the unit, which, after researching, appears to be the only possible operator cause of failure, meaning a part that is reportedly supposed to last 22 years is clearly defective from the factory. Service staff on the phone have been quite kind and sympathetic, but unable to help. They encouraged me to email the company directly, which I have done with the above verbiage, requesting explanation of their policy to not cover this under warranty, especially after seeing so many other people complain of the same issue. The company has not responded. The service tech who diagnosed says hes seeing this more and more, as the appliances are being built less and less robustly.

I am deeply dissatisfied with KitchenAids customer service, in particular with their Whirlpool Factory Certified Care. In June of 2011, I called KitchenAid customer service about a broken spring for my microwave oven door. They recommended a local certified KichenAid appliance repair shop. I spent $411.67 on replacing one broken spring. Just eight months later in 4/2012, the spring broke again and cracked the glass on the door in the process. This time, the KitchenAid customer care recommended their new company, Factory Certified Care. I was unhappy about the spring breaking again so soon from the previous repair. And I was guaranteed that their own KitchenAid technicians, who only deal with KitchenAid products, provide a stellar repair service. However, the repair took two long days, and the technicians used graphs, sketches to figure out how parts go together, without seeming to be the experts they promised to be. Nevertheless, after the replacement of many parts, I paid another $463.63. Only 53 days later, two screws came falling out, unhinging the door. What kind of poorly made parts, workmanship and quality of service renders screws falling out some short weeks after a service call? I called their customer service immediately relating this problem and found their representatives completely frustrating and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and they were equally unpleasant. They knew only to recite their 30-day labor guarantee policy. Even if the part (screws/ brackets that was replaced) was under warranty, I am looking at spending at least another $100 just to have someone put back two screws. Furthermore, given my experience, what faith do I have that the screws they put back or other parts that they replaced/assembled recently wont be falling apart again just outside of the 30 days, rendering me to pay another sum for service call? I asked the supervisor why anyone in my situation would ever use their service again or purchase their products. They did not seem to care one way or another. There is absolutely no business that will thrive or sustain without reliability and a positive reputation. I spent two frustrating hours speaking with their customer service representatives to find myself at a dead end. I wrote to their customer service department to share this excruciating experience and never received a reply.

We built a new home and purchased all new appliances, including a very expensive KitchenAid dishwasher. The electronics burn out (and nearly cause a fire) after seven months. Kitchen Aid does not support its own product but relies on unreliable subcontractors. After already waiting for repairs for two weeks, now we are told the parts are not available. I want compensation for my problem with dishwasher. The inconvenience and frustration of having an appliance that I can not trust. KitchenAids answer is to buy an extended warranty. How is that going to help when I never know if the dishwasher will work from day to day? They have replaced two door switches under warranty and I am out of warranty and I have the problem again. Am I to live with this every year two or more repairs for the same problem? My repairman is ordering another door switch. His opinion is they have a problem with it and it will be an on going problem. They need to redesign the door switch and give us all some relief. Not make us pay for extended warranties. That doesnt make sense. Why should consumers purchase high end appliances and pay to keep them running? Does the extended warranty cover all the days I have no dishwasher when I am afraid to have a dinner party because it could fail again and cause me more inconvenience?

What a piece of junk! When did KitchenAid allow their products to become inferior to the point of totally frustrating the consumer. KitchenAid used to be a quality product. Ive only had this for 3 years - in the first year the plastic clips broke on the back of the thing and I had to contact a supervisor to get them in time for the holiday. Basically the top rack is worthless - totally and completely worthless. All the plastic pieces snap off and break - clips, rollers, etc. When you try to adjust them to get the rack to go back in so you can close the door the plastic things break. I ordered extra plastic clips when I got them the first time and those have broken. By the second year the bottom rack was falling apart and would not roll back in. The wheels are broken. Furthermore, the electronics is crap. I will use a setting and come back 3 or 4 hours later and it is still running - or trying to run. Half the time the dishes dont even get clean. Im so angry. Im a single parent and spent my tax refund check getting this and it works worse than the 10 year old thing that I had before this junk. At least the 10 year old dishwasher didnt have plastic pieces breaking. Stop making this crap in China and make it in the U.S. with quality parts and quit making it cheaply so that you can blame the Chinese for your own design flaws. Quit paying your CEO a fortune and making crap. Concentrate on making something that lasts. Since KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool I assume the same will be true of Whirlpools quality.

I am sorry I did not use this site before I purchased my KitchenAid refrigerator. Apparently, they do not stand by their shoddy product. I have had the same issues as most. The icemaker broke two years after purchase. Now after 6 years, the two circuit boards are broken and need to be replaced. The total cost for this could go up to $800. Our 18-year old KitchenAid refrigerator had been working just fine until the ice maker failed. We had a new one installed. That one failed (actually never worked at all). Considering the age of the refrigerator, we decided to just replace it. We bought a new $2,500 KitchenAid side-by-side, water and ice in the door, refrigerator. Guess what? The ice maker did not work. I had a replacement put in. Also, it did not work. Four KitchenAid ice makers in around two months, is anyone at KitchenAid addressing this problem? If this problem cannot be resolved, the refrigerator goes back and I am buying another brand and will never buy another KitchenAid product again. I am writing is regard to several phone calls that were made to get a service call for my dishwasher. I was on elevator string music for 30 minutes from 07:28 to 08:03 AM. At that point I read off numerous numbers to the girl only to be advised to another telephone number and then at that number redirected to the place of purchase, and then to a holding company that has the warranty policy which was issued December 18, 2011 to December 18, 2014. KITCHENAID needs to select better people to handle these calls. I encountered a couple people to be rude and insensitive to the needs of a consumer. The final call finally resulted with an appointment for a technician to appear at my home between 12:00 and 5:00 PM tomorrow. After all these endeavors, I searched the internet and found CONSUMER AFFAIRS SITE. I am really upset that I had not looked before I leaped with KITCHENAID when I read issues with plastic wheels, broken dishes and completely rejected consumers dating back to before November 16, 2013. I counted at least 26 wheel issues of 529 complaints listed. Why wasnt a RECALL issued to correct this obvious and repeated documented poor quality in workmanship? This technician tomorrow should be bringing NEW REVISED WHEELS for this dishwasher. Needless to say - NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID.

I purchased a new KitchenAid dishwasher 1 year ago! Model #KDTE104ESS. It’s a piece of garbage. I was taken by KItchenAid. The dishwasher has tore up 2 times and had to have the repairman. Before it was a year old. It still doesn’t work correctly! It doesn’t clean the dishes. I prewash the dishes before I put them in. I paid almost $1,000.00 for this dishwasher and it doesn’t clean the dishes at all. I have to rewash the dishes by hand. It was a waste of money. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid product. Buyer beware.

Bought a Kitchen Aid stainless steel, counter depth, side by side refrigerator seven years ago. Evidently, this is the max years I could get. The refrigerator is sitting in our front room needing a control board part 2307037 since October. We keep getting the run around pushing the back order date further and further into the future. We will probably end up getting a new refrigerator, and I guarantee you it will not be a Whirlpool or any other product that they make. They are very deceptive. The refrigerator has panels exactly like my cabinets and it looks immaculate. I am so disappointed in this company. I will NEVER consider this manufacturer again.

I have a KitchenAid double wall oven (this is a replacement due to an electronics problem) and after reading all the reviews about the control panel getting cooked when using the self-cleaning feature, I dont know whether I should use this feature or not. I paid for this feature when the salesperson assured me that this was one of the very best ovens available. What should I do? Cook the panel and ask for a replacement. Or ask for a new oven that does not have this problem when using the self-clean feature??? WHAT SHOULD I DO?? I cant believe KitchenAid would allow these ovens in the stores being aware of this terrible defect!!

We have been without a refrigerator for 5 weeks, KitchenAid and their diamond factory service could care less about how long we wait. Our Failed Kitchen Aid Refrigerator KFIS29BBMS02 Ser#K35102755 - We purchased this refrigerator January 2013. The ice maker went out right away and was replaced on under warranty. Then in 2016 it fell apart. Another ice maker (Two) more actually, new control panel, new compressor. Service Dealer in Omaha tried to fix it 5 times with new parts and recharge the system. Last repair was 1-3-2017. Sent a letter to KitchenAid & Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha. NFM called back and said they could do nothing since we did not buy extended warranty. KitchenAid did not respond. It went hot again this week and no ice and lost frozen food for the 5th time. DO NOT BUY ANY KITCHENAID REFRIGERATORS! They told my service guy that they know they have a problem but my serial number does not apply. If I ran my company this way we would be broke with no customers. Buyers beware of KitchenAid.

Ive had the KitchenAid microwave for less than 5 years now. For so many times that I would try to heat something, it comes up no hotter than it was when I put it in. This happens a lot. I just came back from a weeks vacation to find my microwave had been on fire. It turned itself on while I was away and caught on fire! The entire thing is melted inside. The silver circular thing on top is hanging down and the door even melted. My kitchen cabinets have been damaged. Thank God my house did not burn down!

KitchenAid Dishwasher Model #KUDS40CVSS4 - After owning this dishwasher for 22 months the therma fuse has been replaced four times. Should I have it replaced for a fifth time or purchase a new dishwasher? On 5/27/2011, I purchased my KitchenAid dishwasher from Sears. On 5/31/2011, my dishwasher was not functioning. I called KitchenAid who scheduled a service call with Quaker City Service (215-355-4400). A service man replaced the therma fuse in the unit. On 10/12/2011, my dishwasher was not functioning. I called Quaker City Service and they replaced the therma fuse. On 9/19/2012, my dishwasher is not functioning. I called Quaker City Service. They indicated it was the therma fuse and would like to replace the circuit board as well. The repairman indicated the dishwasher could be a fire hazard. On 10/25/2012, the dishwasher was fixed with this special part. On 3/21/2013, the dishwasher overheated during the drying cycle and is no longer working.

We did a total kitchen remodel in 2003 and used KitchenAid Architectural Series appliances. Were a household of 2 adults, and we take great care of everything and the refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, microwave and cooktop look like new. The 36 gas cooktop with 4 burners and a grill Model KGCP462KSS0 ignitor went out. We had that part replaced and found that the wiring harness part 8284974 had malfunctioned as well. I called KitchenAid only to find the part is no longer manufactured. They offer no alternate, no help in having a new one manufactured. Bottom line is, the effective life span is 8 years. Replacement is $3000+; the granite is cut for this appliance as well. Moral of the story - never buy another KitchenAid appliance!

Our experience with Kitchenaid has been a disaster. Their response? Complete indifference. My wife and I bought $10k worth of appliances less than two years ago. The first to fail? The dishwasher routinely flooded the floors. After the 4th repairman came to our house our dishwasher was replaced. The first two repair visits the repairman suggested maybe we were putting our dishes in the unit incorrectly and the second time he said maybe we were using the wrong soap. Really? Our wall oven has required two visits from repairmen to recalibrate the controls because when it said 350 degrees it was actually 250 degrees. Now the unit wont get out of the preheat stage. And now after spending Friday morning away from work to have $750 worth of replacement parts installed by a repairman, the refrigerator is broken again - including water all over the floor. We did purchase an extended warranty with the products through Best Buy. EVERY TIME we call Best Buy they do their best to point the finger at Kitchen Aid and Kitchen Aid responds with a we could care less about your problem.” So whats next? We continue to get our appliances fixed (that is until they break again) but we need help with getting Kitchen Aid and Best Buy to care.

Again appointment was rescheduled and then he came in again, did troubleshooting and said he will replace door. We purchased a very high end Kitchenaid refrigerator. Due to a design flaw
We purchased a very high end Kitchenaid refrigerator. Due to a design flaw (admitted by company as settlement decided upon) we incurred property damage. Due to the Global pandemic parts are hard to come by. Completely understandable. Not the companys fault. Once parts became available the issues with the service department started. We would have to wait online for literally hours at a time in order to speak with someone having to explain our story again and again. No direct number to call. And every time feeling like we were the bad guy. Feeling like we were trying to cheat the system. No one was willing to help us. They would just push us from department to department, manager to manager (never actually speaking with a manager). No one ever making a decision.Ultimately, problem being we live in a small community with limited access to service providers. We live over three hours from a large center. And we’re left on our own to find our own service provider. After we found a service provider Whirlpool would not approve the service provider because it was only one service man. They would only approve a company that had two or more service providers because the refrigerator was too big for one person. When we offered to hire a third-party they refused so we had zero opportunities to have our new refrigerator fixed. After hours and hours on hold and fighting just to get a refrigerator fixed they finally agreed to fix it for the amount that they had originally agreed to and then change their mind but would not send any kind of documentation stating this. So now we have to pay out of pocket hoping that when we submit the paid invoice that they will reimburse us. When asked what the turnaround time for repayment was I was told minimum four weeks. Moral of the story if you live in a small community away from a big service area you will not get your refrigerator fixed without having to pay some out-of-pocket expense. In our experience nothing last forever so if you think you’re going to phone and get warranty you’re wrong so maybe think twice.

You cannot use the self-clean function because if you do, your oven quits working. Something burns out. I suspect that it may be a temp high limit switch - unable to get straight answers from Whirlpool who sell KA appliances. Our local dealer was unable or couldnt be bothered to help. Whirlpool said that this was the first time they heard of this problem!! What a bunch of malarkey. I spent $8,000.00 on a wall oven, fridge, gas countertop stove, dishwasher and microwave. DONT BUY!! This range DOES NOT CLEAN!! The technology of AquaLift Self Clean is falsely advertised. Do not use oven cleaners. No commercial oven cleaner or oven liner protective coating of any kind should be used in or around any part of the oven. Quote from manual. Dictionary: self-clean (of oven, filter, etc) - having a mechanism to clean itself. They have a customer service number dedicated to the AquaLift Self Clean system. This model, #KGRS202BSS, vents out thru center of oven door, venting out the front top of door positioned immediately below the range top handles causing handles to heat to VERY HOT! The oven tempered glass is cleaned by removing the whole door, disassembling - then cleaning both panels inside of glass & outside! HAZARD. A scratch to tempered glass can compromise it. NO one tells you that; do they!! How does this help improve to free up your schedule? What surface does one place the door on to clean it? HAZARD is cumbersome, possible breakage and injury while handling. Black stove top is NOT porcelain & stains permanently... as do the burner caps and burner flame tops. The top non-fingerprint stainless by panel scratches incredibly easy. It takes a long time to heat to desired temperature. UPSIDE: Range is attractive looking if thats all you require out of a range.Beware, KitchenAid is not customer complaint friendly to resolving issues - read reviews, they just keep sending out repairmen! They will chase you around the Cuckoo Clock! Once out of warranty, they will not talk at all! Check out the BBB complaints too! From www.whirlpoolcorp.com: We are the number one major appliance manufacturer in the world, with approximately 20 billion in annual sales. We provide purposeful technology that helps free up your schedule for what really matters. We feel that our products positively impact your life right now. Mission: Create Demand and Earn Trust. We are NOT feeling this right now!! They manufacture just about every brand, hmm.. monopoly springs to our minds. They are a global company. The sad part, this type of technology is fast becoming the future of all ranges! Why not! Whirlpool owns just about every brand so what they do becomes the design of all our product choices.

In June, 2009, I did a complete kitchen remodel and installed all-KitchenAid appliances, including a side-by-side refrigerator model KSCS25MVMS which cost almost $2,500. I purchased a five-year extended warranty on all the appliances which, unfortunately, has now expired. I recently noticed water damage to the base of the cabinet surrounding the refrigerator and to the hardwood floor. I had an appliance repairman out and he determined that the water leak was the result of a crack in the evaporator drip pan under the refrigerator. He said he would order a replacement pan. A couple of days later he called to inform me that this part was no longer available. He said he could attempt to repair it, with no guaranty that the repair would be successful, or I could buy a new refrigerator. I think it is outrageous that a $2,500 6-year old refrigerator (which is otherwise working fine) is now rendered unusable because of the failure of a cheap plastic part that KitchenAid has discontinued. It sounds like KitchenAid is discontinuing parts availability in order to force people to buy new products. Well, all I can say is, if I end up having to buy a new refrigerator, it will most definitely NOT be a KitchenAid!!!

Last year, I spent $120.00 on the door hinge and now problem with the dishwasher not working at all. I called KitchenAid and was informed I will either need to spend another $300 to fix the unit, or purchase a one-year warranty and pay $275.00. Unfortunately, I also have a KitchenAid refrigerator that so far I had to spend over $600 in the last 3 years for repairs.Do I need to keep on wasting $500.00 every 6 months with further service calls and parts? Why would KitchenAid make disposable appliances? They will need to disclose to consumer at the time of the purchase that appliances made by Whirlpool and KitchenAid are disposable, and every year we need to replace them with a brand new unit. KitchenAid is responsible for taking care of my dishwasher. I can no longer invest more money on the defected appliances made by Whirlpool and KitchenAid.

I have had service tech, told me that the vibration was from the motor and frame. Used a piece of tape to fix the problem. It didnt work. They sent another tech. He told me that it was the water reservoir. Order a new one and installed it. Noise is worse! When I called KitchenAid AGAIN, the service agent was rude and told me that if they sent another tech out there and the noise was not happening, I would be responsible for the charges. After calling the repair person he said it was a standard problem with these units and they generally broke in the first year. The oven is less than one year old and under warranty. A service person inspected the oven, stated this part is not removable for replacement or repair. The service person telephoned in the concern and was informed of a patch/repair paint kit and said it will be shipped to me. However, it was suggested I contact KitchenAid directly if I found this solution to be unsatisfactory. After the departure of the service person, I inspected the chipped area further. Cracking was noticed on both sides of the chipped area that extends out an inch to an inch and a half on each side causing concern that the issue will continue.KitchenAid customer service was contacted and this manufacturing defect was reported. The KitchenAid customer service representative stated that KitchenAid is not able to provide any help or assistance with this issue since these material and workmanship defects are excluded from warranty coverage after 30 days from the date of purchase.

Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars
Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars. I purchased the full range of KitchenAid equipment (microwave, dishwasher KUDS02VR and gas range, architect II). Fortunately for us, we also purchased the extended warranty even though I thought with top end equipment we probably would not need it.The microwave has had multiple call outs over the 4 years of owning the piece: F2 errors, cooling fans that dont just turn on but partially start then stop then start for a second then stop and start for 10 minutes or so at a time. Its driving me nuts! The dishwasher has trouble cleaning anything. It leaves dishes dirty and the glasses have developed white film on them. Dishwasher has gotten clogged and according to the technician because we have the audacity to use it . We now use dishwasher magic every month.Range oven: First of all, the door lock keeps locking with an error when you use the oven above 400F and you cannot open the oven door until it has cooled down and you reboot the system by removing power, this you have to do multiple time before the door complies. We replaced locking mechanism, now it seems to work at last. Secondly, every time you use the clean oven function, the electronics go on the frizz. Now, we are without an oven again for a week while we get a technician to come again to look and hopefully fix the electronic issue.Through all this (including digital movies of the issues, pictures etc., sent to KitchenAid), the general response has been that all equipment works as designed. Works as designed! They should fire the designers and send the specs to some elementary school kids who could do a better job!I, for one, hate KitchenAid and will never buy another product from them again and will tell as many people as I can how lousy their products are.

I purchased all new appliances from Lowe’s along with a extended warranty. My stove around the burners started chipping paint: I called my warranty and they said it was cosmetic! I called KitchenAid and they did have someone come out that replaced the top. He said that the stovetop grate wasn’t tall enough for the stove and it would probably happen again, within no time it started chipping again! I called again but nothing has been done because they replaced it once. My very expensive black stainless stove looks like crap! Model KFGG500EBS2. We spent over 7000 dollars KitchenAid! Refrigerator model KFIS29BBNS00 - We purchased this unit in 2012. Ever since we have add numerous repair calls. Not only the first year but since. They replaced left door and freezer pull out door rusted. Ice maker replaced, and mother board several times for the ice maker dispenser. Now we are under extended warranty and we need a compressor. They will be out next week to replace. We requested the first year for a replacement and they have spent more on parts. Since we purchased it then we paid for it. They will not replace unit. It is a lemon from day one. Always has made a noise. It was so loud at one point we had to close our bedroom door at night to sleep. Dont buy this appliance. It looks pretty but it doesnt work right and they keep repairing it. The warranty department said they do not have a record for the first year just since they took over.

We replaced our old dishwasher with a KitchenAid one hoping to have a long-lasting efficient one that would really clean our dishes well. We have had several repairs from Best Buy where the dishwasher was purchased. Our problems started six months after purchase and are as follows: First, the heated dry function does not come on with normal cycle. Second, the on-hour wash cycle does not clean well at all, so we can only use the longer cycles which are more time-consuming. We have replaced the racks three times. KitchenAid was contacted and they feel Best Buy should take responsibility for the machine while Best Buy held Whirlpool responsible. We did not purchase the extended warranty on the faith that KitchenAid is a good brand with a quality product. We will not purchase a Whirlpool or KitchenAid product in the future.

We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher after our Maytag Dishwasher died after 5 years. I was leery about buying another Whirlpool product but the reviews were good and it was bigger than the comparable Bosch dishwasher. The dishwasher does NOT clean the dishes. We have had 2 techs out (1 from the store, 1 from Whirlpool), taken 2 days off, bought 4 different types of detergent, tried each suggestion that was made (use powder, use pods, run hot water, dont run hot water, dont rinse the dishes before putting them in...) and NOTHING works. I have called Whirlpool and the reps are civil but not sympathetic and keep repeating suggestions that have already been tried. I will never purchase a Whirlpool product again. BUYER BEWARE!

Two years ago, we brought 5 items from KitchenAid. Basically, we spent over $10,000.00 and we have nothing but breakdowns. I did not extend our warranty as this would cost us over $800 a year plus I thought. Why buy a warranty as I should be buying quality? Well I was WRONG. First, the Refrigerator had problems, but they were able to fix that (in the first year). Second, the range kept clicking. That took two service trips (first year). Third, cannot remember actually but we had a problem with the double oven. Fourth, the refrigerator was leaking and ruin by built in cupboard as we did not realize the problem straight away (second year), pay just over $200 and had to put one of those metal door plates over the bottom of the cupboard as it was soak so had to cut the bottom off.Fifth and last I hope, press self clean on oven and you guessed it, burnt out the oven. Cost of repair nearly $900. When I spoke to customer service, they told me basically, Tough luck. You should have brought the extended warranty. I am finding out that this is a problem with Whirlpool self clean ovens. But my argument is that this feature does not work so I should not be held responsible for this. Customer Service answer was YOU SHOULD have BROUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. So beware. If you are thinking that buying KitchenAid is Quality, THINK AGAIN. Will never buy or endorse KitchenAid again unless they step up to the plate and recognize their mistakes. Really, why buy quality if they can only support it with 1 year warranty (thats a red flag)? Because every major kitchen appliance from any brand gives you 1 year warranty. Thank you for reading this. Now you know the pitfalls.

The last 2 times, it shattered. This time, it just cracked. Kitchen Aid took responsibility for the defect the last 2 time but refuse to pay from the replacement this time, even though this issue has been ongoing since I purchased the unit. KSSO Built In Refrigerator - Today I received the word that the computer P/N W10219462 was manufactured in Japan and the tsunami destroyed the factory. The inventory of this computer part is zero. My $8,000 refrigerator just became scrap metal. It is less than 6 yrs. old. If there is a U.S. regulation that parts be maintained for 10 years, why are these not available from another sub-contractor? I am assuming they were defective to begin with or the computer assembly sub-contractor was so shortsighted they neglected to back up the specs. I am waiting to hear from the Whirlpool committee as to their solution or their offer. There is also a problem with a custom cabinet door to be considered. Merry Christmas! 12/15/14

I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator in 2013, stainless steel model #KFIS29BBMSOO. Ive had numerous problems with it, many service calls. The first was the hose in the freezer splitting, which took 5 service calls to figure out, costing me for each one. Finally they said it was a recall item and I should not have had to pay. It was difficult to get my money back from the service people, took months. Now there is ice building up behind the drawers in the refrigerator, blocking the vent. There is about 2 of ice built up so the drawers do not close completely. Everything in the drawers freezes. When I called repair people suggested by Whirlpool. As soon as they heard the model number they refused to come. I called Whirlpool again, they said they have never heard of any problems like this, however, when I read all of the reviews listed here there are a lot of problems with these refrigerators. The repair guys said KitchenAid is one of the worst brands now, made so poorly, but so expensive. They finally found me a repairman, he is about 5 hours away, I told them he is not close, they said he probably knows someone closer to me, however the call is from 8:00-5:00, I have to wait. This has been so frustrating. I purchased 7 appliances at the same time, I did a remodel on my kitchen. My dishwasher failed after one year, the motor actually fell on the floor, it slow leaked onto my wood floors doing $40,000. damage, cabinets had to be pulled out walls repaired, took 5 months. KitchenAid would do nothing. The motor was not installed right at the factory, they tried to blame it on the installers. Im fed up with KitchenAid, would never recommend it to anyone. I just cant believe they dont worry about their reputation.

Having purchased an entire kitchen of KitchenAid products, almost every one has broken - more than once. While the company repaired the dishwasher handle the first time it broke, they refused to fix the dishwasher door, which flops open dangerously. I paid over $100 to have it fixed. Now that the microwave, which comes on spontaneously, must be fixed, theyve agreed to that, but not the handle that broke off or the faux-stainlesss/plastic vent cover that ironically fell on the floor days after the call. Turns out they now admit that the dishwasher door is a chronic problem and theyll cover it, but in astonishingly rude tones, refused to fully fix or replace the microwave, even though I have paid for defects they now acknowledge. Instead, theyve invited me to buy a new vent cover at my own expense, investing additional money in their plainly substandard appliances. Or, I can buy a new KA microwave = at 15% off?! (To be clear, I would sooner set $649 on fire and use the flame to cook). Customer service is, at the corporate level, woefully rude and disinterested in customer satisfaction, seemingly having deaf and numb to their growing number of angry consumers. Amazingly, I visited a friend in L.A. who has the same appliances. And the same problems.

I purchased KSSO42QTX refrigerator in December of 2011. It cost over $5,000.00. Within 3 months, the unit had frost and ice accumulating in the freezer and poor cooling (high temperature) in refrigerator leading to spoiled, wasted food and on several occasions, illness due to spoilage. I contacted KitchenAid on several occasions over a two-month period and was directed to defrost unit and start over. When the problem persisted, they finally agreed to send a technician. The independently contracted technician found defective fans, motors and gaskets. I requested that the unit be replaced being that it was a lemon, having proven defective after only 3 months of usage. The technician and KitchenAid customer service said they will repair, but not replace the refrigerator. I was told to defrost and shut off the refrigerator. I waited for approximately two weeks for the independent repair company to receive the new parts and make a return appointment. When they arrived, they realized that they had been sent the correct fan parts, but not the correct gaskets. The technician refused to repair the fan as he only gets paid at the completion of the job and refused to repair the fan, which would have created an appropriate cooling environment for food storage. We are currently waiting, again, for over 1 week for the new part to be delivered. I have now been without the use of a refrigerator for approximately 3 weeks in sweltering summer heat. My wife has had to take 2 days off from work to accommodate the technicians schedule and will be required to take another day leave from work to accommodate for another appointment.Throughout this process, KitchenAid customer service has been terrible. They were unconcerned that our refrigerator has been spoiling food. They were unconcerned that the unit proved to be defective after 3 months of usage. They were unconcerned that we have no refrigerator in the middle of a summer with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees. They were unconcerned that we had several instances of illness due to spoiled food. They have been unwilling to replace the lemon refrigerator, which broke within 3 months of purchase. They have been unwilling to expedite any service or delivery of parts in order to alleviate this egregious situation. They refused to use expedited mail service. They refused to appoint another independent technician when the one originally assigned refused to provide timely service. We are still waiting for the repair to be completed. I have been offered no compensation for the trouble that I have had due to the lemon refrigerator.

As I write this, my oven is being repaired for the fourth time, for the same problem. Since it is out of warranty, I will be paying for this. When you try to self-clean, it goes for an hour or two, then stops, giving an error code because the plastic, yes plastic, around the latch has melted, and the oven thinks the door is open. The repairman this time told me to never again try to self clean the oven. It will just keep happening! This oven is about 6 years old, but this has been happening since it was just over a year old. Also, even when it did clean in the beginning, the glass door does not actually get clean, particularly the space left between the two panes of glass, again yes, a space left open. I would suggest the designer of this oven be punished by having to use it. Clearly these should have been recalled or replaced by KitchenAid, as they are aware of the problem. But no such luck, at least not that I am aware of.

We built a new home in the Rio Grande Valley in 2005. Since we had previously remodeled our home in Irving, Texas using KitchenAid products which gave excellent service, we assumed we could rely on newer models to do the same. This was a mistake. We installed a stainless steel oven/microwave combination (Model No: KEHC309KSS 05, Serial No: XS060040 57). The microwave door springs continually break and the light bulb burns out regularly. The product requires a service call every year. It requires two men to change the microwave light bulb because the whole unit has to be pulled from the cabinet. One man must hold the unit while the second replaces the bulb. Even though the service people are told they must send two men, they seldom comply, requiring the scheduling of a second service call. If we did not continually purchase extended warranties, there would be no way to keep the product operable. After reading all of the posted complaints, we are now afraid to use the self-cleaning part of the actual oven. This was a poorly designed product which never should have been marketed in the first place. After a two page letter listing the number of service calls and the problems, we received a call from KitchenAid stating they had received the letter, had no record of any previous complaints and were relaying the information to their engineers. It sounded as though there would be no follow-up and no effort to resolve the complaint. Its amazing that a company can continue in business with so many complaints against it by relying on past reputation. We would never recommend a KitchenAid product again.

This is the second review I am writing about this oven. The first review I wrote was a couple weeks after it was installed and I gave it 5 stars. Its a beautiful oven. The stovetop/burners work great. The top oven is the one I use the most and at first it was fine, but after about a month, I noticed the blue interior is peeling off the base plate on the top oven and black splotches started appearing. I removed the base plate and tried to clean it but there wasnt anything on it. The blue was just disappearing in places. I took the oven plate back to the store I bought it at and they ordered a new one.The second plate started doing the same thing after only a couple of weeks. The blue coating is clearly not perfected and I really wonder if it is releasing chemicals or flaking off into the food. I cannot recommend this to anyone. KitchenAid - you need to do more testing before you release products into the market. I am a product developer - I know when something hasnt been tested appropriately. Im waiting for my third base plate to arrive but I am likely going back to the store to tell them to replace the oven. My preference would be to replace it with a different brand, but the over the oven microwave that a purchased at the same time is also KitchenAid brand (ut-oh).

From the day we received our fridge we had problems: the doors wouldnt stay closed. If the right door only was open, then shut, the left door would pop open. There was condensation running down the flange between the doors constantly. In the morning wed come down to the kitchen and find a door slightly open even though it was closed when we went to bed. We had about 10 service calls for the fridge with the door issue in the first year and nothing ever was solved. Hinges were replaced, the fridge was re-leveled, moisture setting adjusted and so on, over and over again. What is the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again know the results will be the same. This was what was happening because all the servicemen did the same thing over and over again without any different results. How much time can a person take out of their day to deal with such nonsense?I started asking for an exchange about half way into the process of service calls and was refused. I kept arguing we have a food safety issue here and this didnt seem to mean anything to anyone. I also tried getting to speak with a supervisor. Denied. Finally, just as the fridge was 1 year in my kitchen I managed to speak with someone who made an exchange finally happen. This refrigerator actually has doors that close, stay closed so therefore we dont have the condensation issue. The bottom line is that I had a lemon and everyone passed the buck to try and avoid exchanging the fridge. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product again. Look for my oven review next.

We purchased a brand new refrigerator in May. By June, it was not keeping things as cold as it should and the frozen foods started melting. We contacted KitchenAid, which sent out a person from A&E Appliance who stated that it was not fixable and reported this to KitchenAid. We were then told that we had to have someone come for a second opinion, which we have never heard of with a brand new appliance. The second opinion said that it needs a compressor. We were then told that this persons assessment is still not enough and that a supervisor now needs to look at the fridge. By this time, we have lost hundreds of dollars in frozen foods and are unable to purchase food for the week, causing us to go to the store each day to buy what normally could be kept frozen. Months later, we still have no working brand new fridge! We were told a part has to be ordered which takes another few weeks. When it arrived, my husband called and they arranged a time for the part to be installed. The person never showed even though my husband and I made sure that one of us was here all day. The appointment gets rescheduled and the person did not show again. When he was contacted, he stated that he was from the business that made the first assessment and refused to put the part in. We want a brand new fridge, which we paid for, in our house within the next week.

Fortunately I also purchased a Sears Service contract. It is now on its fifth ice maker and has had fans, sensors and boards replaced. Admittedly all covered by the contract but the inconvenience involved is important. I just called for a service repair which will be in 8 days. When he comes, he will have to order a part and the appointment will be two weeks on from that. In the mean time we have to buy ice. I bought Kitchenaid because I thought they were reliable but never again. Surely someone makes a decent product.
