After a thunderstorm and lightning storm our power went off. When the power came back on we had no control board lights - none. Oven not working. Called repair man - waited 2 days for new power board and replaced it. Same thing - no control board. Now he says he needs to change the control panel boards because he gets no power out from the power board he changed out that supplies power to the control panel on top. Well about $200 for a board he changed and they want another $400 for the control panel if we decide to order it. Those prices are w/out labor costs. Min $85 just for call out. Even if I replace this part that is no guarantee that the oven will work again. I could spend as much money as it cost me originally to buy it. It was not cheap for the Kitchen-Aide Superb gas range when I bought it. I can remember when people would replace ovens/ranges just because they wanted a newer bigger one. Not that anything was wrong with the one they had, they just wanted to replace something that had already given over 25 years of service and was given to someone else just starting out in life. Where is the quality of workmanship that used to be in the things that we build and buy? It seems like today the young people have been brainwashed into thinking that when something breaks it is to be thrown away and replaced. I guess the manufacturers have succeeded in instilling a real throw away society in our youth. It dont work, throw it away because it will cost you more to fix it than its worth. Rule of thumb should be if something is going to cost you about 50% of what it originally cost to buy it --- then throw it away. They dont make anything like they use to.

Wow! I am completely dumbfounded at the incompetency and lack of customer service KitchenAid provides for warranty work... Start to finish, it has been a horrible experience and my very expensive, 3 1/2 year old fridge still isnt working. I dont even want to go into all the details because this has already wasted so much of my time. I just wished I had read all the other reviews prior to purchasing this fridge... very disappointing and I will not recommend nor purchase any more of their appliances.

About 2 years ago, I purchased KitchenAid double oven. Exactly 1 year ago the right back burner knob would not turn. Then six months later the left back burner knob would not turn. I was really surprised in that I have only used this burner about three or four times since Ive owned the stove!!! Will call Sears to get repairman out. I have never use the cleaning component since so many users have had problems. Will never purchase another stove by KitchenAid. I have never own a stove where the knob would not turn on. Like others if I had came across this site before purchasing stove, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED.

Last year I remodeled my kitchen & all new KitchenAid appliances were installed - to the tune of over $16,000. The 36 single wall oven alone cost over $3000. After I used the clean function (for the first time) - the oven wouldnt heat. They sent out a repairman who fixed it. A few months later, I used the clean function again (for the 2nd time) - same thing happened. And now, 1 month after the warranty expired, its happened again. Same problem all three times & yet after a long call to them today, KitchenAid refused to do anything! In a year, I probably used that oven less than a dozen times. Needless to say, I wont be recommending them to anyone. And btw, the repair service they sent obviously didnt know what they were doing, because as I now know, the problem was never solved.

KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS35FXSS that retails for over $1000 was installed. One month later, the vent on the side of the door blew steam on my new Cherry cabinets damaging the finish. Talking to KitchenAid is useless. They made me purchase a $6.00 part (and pay $15 in shipping) to divert the steam from the vent. Dont they have engineers who could have figured out that you should blow hot steam on wood cabinets?

In 2012, I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator, model KFCS22EVBL. Weve had nothing but problems with this product. First, the freezer leaked water onto my beautiful hardwood floor. The refrigerator was repaired but it ruined my hardwood floor. My research indicates that this is a known design defect. I wrote a complaint letter to a Whirlpool executive, who referred me to their quality assurance expert. What a joke! I was left extremely frustrated and angry. Neither Whirlpool nor its QA representative understand the concept of customer satisfaction. Second, the refrigerator is extremely noisy. We have an open floor plan and sometimes we have to speak over noise from the refrigerator to hear conversations. Lastly, cleaning the coils is a nightmare. The user instructions state There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments. I dont have pets; however, due to dust buildup, I need to vacuum the coils at least 2-3 times a year. Additionally, dust tends to collect behind the front coil and there is no way for the average consumer to reach the area behind the coils. Yet, Whirlpools instruction states Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille, the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area on the condenser. Gee, I wish I can figure out how to get behind the front coil. (The attached image shows unreachable dust behind the coil). I suspect the refrigerator was purposely designed this way to shorten the lifetime of the refrigerator. Whirlpool has underestimated this consumer. I will no longer purchase another Whirlpool product, especially since Im also having problems with my KitchenAid double oven. Im now looking for another refrigerator.

Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

We are now in the process of replacing our second top of the line KitchenAid built-in top stainless-steel of the line refrigerator/freezer in 14 years. Each lasted about 7 years and failed. The last one needed a new control board - no longer made. So the machine is obsolete by company failure to provide necessary parts over a longer period of time. Wont touch this product again. Trying to contact the manufacturer a big run around. Customer service is about as bad as it gets. Bought a new Sub-Zero. If you have a question, you get immediately to a real and knowledgeable person. Buyer beware! You get what you pay for.

My KRFC704FPS Counter-Depth refrigerator has had issues since day one. I should have returned in within the 15 day window to Best Buy. It is super noisy and can be heard as far away as the 2nd floor of my home. The freezer temp wont go any higher than -7 degrees on a thermometer and that is with a setting of 5 degrees. I have a super accurate electronic thermometer in the freezer and it can get as low as -20 degrees. If I set it lower than 5 it can get colder. The refrigerator section has to stay at 39 degrees of food starts freezing. KA has been out 3 times for the issue and they wont help. The techs even brought their own thermometers and it states the same. Their only fix is to turn off the ice maker. I paid $4k for a refrigerator and they wont stand behind it. Also, the seal is tearing and water pools up and freezes in the bottom of the freezer. I have had it for 11 months. Every time the tech comes out he says there are issues, but KA wont do anything but say it is normal. I have all KA appliances too.

Purchased Refrigerator model #KSC2418EYYO2 less than 5 years ago. Nothing but problems. Had Ice maker fixed 4 times, Finally replaced door to fix problem. The door they fixed was bowed and could not be used. Shipped a new door, problem was repaired then the ice maker stopped working again. Finally they replaced the entire refrigerator. About 6 months ago the ice maker stopped working. Service was called and no problem was found and it started working again. Last month water started leaking out from the bottom. Service was called. Had to wait about a week for the part to come in. Problem was fixed. Now it is leaking again. Meanwhile, brand new kitchen hardwood floor was ruts in it from rolling out the fridge back and forth. And damage is appearing under the unit because of standing water. Between both fridges service was made at least 10 times and it just keeps going. Called KitchenAid direct and received 0 help. Told them I dont trust this machine and want it out, but their answer was, We dont do that. They did offer a discount on another KitchenAid machine but the last thing I need is another machine from them. STAY AWAY from all KitchenAid appliances. They dont work and their company does not stand behind them and turn their back on you. I only wish that I can give them less than 1 star.

This is the third time in 4 years that we have to get a serviceman in to repair our KA wall oven (KEBS107SSS03). This product has a definite weak point. You cannot use the self-clean function because if you do, your oven quits working. Something burns out. I suspect that it may be a temp high limit switch - unable to get straight answers from Whirlpool who sell KA appliances. Our local dealer was unable or couldnt be bothered to help. Whirlpool said that this was the first time they heard of this problem!! What a bunch of malarkey. I spent $8,000.00 on a wall oven, fridge, gas countertop stove, dishwasher and microwave. This is the service we get. We have been without an oven since April 6, 2013. 9 weeks!!!

We bought our KUDS301XWH6 dishwasher in the spring of 2012, and we have had nothing but trouble. Two wheels on the top rack have broken off, and the control panel only works when it wants to. Even flipping the switch on the circuit breaker doesnt work most of the time. Like others, we bought this *more expensive* machine because we wanted to buy an American-made product, and because we grew up with KitchenAid dishwashers that lasted, problem-free, for decades. KitchenAid is coasting on the reputation earned many years ago, but their reputation will change as more people learn of their current line of shoddy, overpriced products. We will never buy a KitchenAid product again.

Model #: KUDS35FXSS3. Purchase Date: 11/26/2011. In the second year of having this dishwasher the motor seized. Also the rack adjusters had to be replaced three times. (This problem is well documented on numerous Internet sites.) On Sunday, August 16, 2015, the dishwasher was approximately one half way through a normal cycle. A very loud buzz was heard and this lasted for a few seconds. Then a pop sound was heard. Upon investigation, the black smoke was pouring out the front of the dishwasher at the top. A very strong electrical burning smell was also present. The electric breaker for the dishwasher was tripped. When the dishwasher was taken apart it was found that the electronic control board (motherboard) had shorted and melted the internal wiring. The dishwasher was deemed unrepairable.

This was witnessed by unbelieving repairman on 11/07/2011.This will be the third control panel in this expensive unit in 7 1/2 years. Purchased a KitchenAid microwave in 2014 to replace a microwave with a broken door release mechanism. 3 years later, the same thing is happening to the KitchenAid. Door wont open when depressing the button. Seems to be a common occurrence if you check YouTube. The selling dealer offered to sell us a new one for $400. Wrote KitchenAid and was told the unit was out of warranty and if there was a problem, it would have shown up in the first few months of ownership. I didnt expect them to give me a new one for free, maybe just fix this one or offer some assistance with the expense. Two microwaves in 6 years? I will find another brand next time. Reliability, durability, and customer service are all oxymorons when it comes to KitchenAid microwaves.

We purchased a model home that came with all the kitchen appliances. The appliances were purchased in January 2015. We have live in our new house for a little over a year. I am very disappointed in the Kitchen Aid Side by Side, model KSF26G4XYY03. In the past year, we have had two drawers break in the refrigerator. The face of the drawer came off and plastic on the drawer cracked off. Also, a drawer in the freezer busted where the plastic covers the wheel of the drawer. This is NOT quality construction. I was told by Product Registration in Benton Harbor, MI that only the bins are covered through years 2 - 5...really??? When this refrigerator needs to be replaced, it will not be by a Kitchen Aid.

I was a builder in Atlanta for 30 years and used KitchenAid in my homes many times. I installed a high-end side by side just under 2 years ago in my personal home and it suddenly started forming ice. When the technician came he took apart the panel with the cooling element and found the sealer wire which was installed crimped had destroyed the thermistor which regulates the fridge. When I called KitchenAid their answer was over time, which could be anywhere from a week to years the parts or the way it was put together could break down. Really? I never would have used KitchenAid if I knew they weren’t responsible for the correct installation of original parts. It cost $325 to fix.

The dishwasher doesnt clean, it doesnt dry, you cant interrupt the cycle (add a dish) without starting over. I have to make sure the dishes are spotless before putting them in the washer. Many times the detergent door wont open and when it does the packet just sits in the holder and never gets into the washing area. Then the upper oven failed totally. Called Kitchen Aid said it was no longer under warranty. Absolute nightmare from Retailer to manufacturer. Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer)
Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer) - We bought our fridge in late June of 2013. Its now Early September and weve been without a properly functioning appliance for more than 2 weeks. Looking through the reviews, the prospect is daunting of waiting months to get this resolved.Same issue as many. After a call to Kitchen Aid, a technician came to evaluate the issue and determined that it was an evaporator fan malfunction. It took 5 days to get the new part. A new technician/refrigeration expert came to install the new (and faulty) fan (The freezer door, which was functioning fine up to this point, was somehow damaged by him so that now it makes a noise when I open it). He said to give the fan 24 hours to cool the machine. A day later it was no better than it was before, with the temperature hovering around 60 degrees. A new technician was sent out the next day. He determined, after taking the refrigerator apart that the new evaporator fan was faulty. He defrosted the evaporator with a heat gun and talked to Rick at the KitchenAid tech line (On an aside, the drawer display doesnt work at all, a whole different issue). Now were waiting a week to get a new fan and no guarantee that this fan will work. We are very frustrated.

I purchased 30 KitchenAid gas convection oven which was delivered on January 3, 2013. On 1/14/13, service was required to replace igniter (oven shut off during baking). On 1/23/13, service was again required to replace burner (oven shut off during baking). On 3/13/2013, service was required to replace control panel (oven wouldnt shut off). On 3/25/13, repair again required (control panel again. Oven wouldnt shut off). On 3/28/13, control board needed to be replaced. On April 4, 2013, I had to order UI and harness connector. On 4/8/13, I replaced ribbon from UI to main control. Unit now is shutting off but is still beeping randomly in convection bake. Orvilles Appliance in Amherst uses DC Appliance to do their repairs. DC Appliance has been wonderful, trying to repair it. I went to Whirlpool product review on 4/8/13. On 4/23/13, DC Appliance arrived again to repair range. They turned off during baking again. Another control board was installed. When service technician was finished, the range started beeping again but it was too late in the day to speak to Whirlpool tech support. DC Appliance called Whirlpool tech support on 4/24/2013 and was told we would be contacted by Whirlpool on Monday, April 29th, to arrange replacing our range. Monday came and went. So Tuesday, April 30th, we called DC Appliance, who called Whirlpool. The story changed. Suddenly, they had no record of the conversation with DC Appliance about replacing the range. Today, May 1st, DC Appliance called us to say they had the names of the two individuals they spoke with regarding the replacement. We were told to wait until Friday to hear from Whirlpool. DC Appliance said they cannot give us the names of the tech whom they spoke to or the person above that tech who made the decision to replace it. We paid $1,447 plus tax for this range. On top of that, we paid an additional $139 for a 5-year extended warranty. We are getting the runaround. We have been patient. Whirlpool and Orvilles had been nothing but nasty. Please help.

Kitchenaid Oven Model # KEBC177K5503: This was the second time it quit working after using the self-clean feature. We paid to have it fixed the first time but called KitchenAid the second time. After seeing all the other complaints, we thought they would at least send out a DIY kit to replace thermo piece that keeps the oven from working. They would only charge me for a service call and then any necessary parts. Their reasoning is that they wont fix something that hasnt been recalled but who has the authority to recall the defective ovens? KitchenAid! I will never, ever purchase any KitchenAid product again! And I will spread the word every chance I get. When I see how many complaints there are out there for this product and KitchenAid is laughing all the way to the bank, it makes me angry.

Poor reliability. Very disappointed based on initial reviews of how happy people were with model. I guess I like it too - when it is working. Who has the money or time for all these repairs? Purchased in September 2011 and the motor failed the first week. Best Buy swapped out dishwasher in October 2011. Had some intermittent issues when it would not turn on when we pushed the key pads. March 2013 - stopped working completely. The electrical panel on inside of door came loose. Was not an actual electrical problem so did not fall under warranty. I paid the $130 for a 15-minute service. September 2013. Dishwasher failed to complete rinse cycle and wont start again - just makes a louder than usual noise like it is trying to start. Repair man said dishes must not be too tall. So I checked this with every fill. Leaks keep on. Next, repair man said dont open the drawer during the cycle. It is a flaw in the design. So I started dishes at night and empty next morning. Leaks continue. The bottom drawer is corroded and rust seeping down, floor always wet. I was concerned about mold. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher based on ratings. Wrong move. From day one, I should have returned it. Before installing it, the control panel had to be replaced. The print on the panel came off when the protective tape was removed. The tech service man came and replaced the complete panel. After about a week, there was a leak coming down the front of the door [stainless steel]. Repair man came again claiming it was due to steam from drying cycle. Took it apart now. Its okay. We have been complaining about dishes coming out dirty each time and have gotten different answers. Called a third time tech. Checked machine codes, claiming all was okay. But the hot water was not hot enough [120 degrees] at burner. Claims 87 degrees. We have never had a problem with past three machines, last one being a Maytag which was spotless but was not stainless steel and we were matching the new appliances. Another wrong move. Should have kept it. The last tech said he was sorry he had to tell me there was nothing he could do. However, if the tech would read the manual, it states that in the hi-temp cycle, the machine heats the water to up to 150 degrees. Maybe he could find another reason for dirty dishes. I am now going to Lowes to see if they can be of any help. This machine is a lemon. Also, dont lean over the counter top. The panel is so touchy that it will turn the machine on or off. The only pro is the machine is very very quiet . Maybe that is why the dishes are not cleaned, its not doing anything.

Having read the list of complaints here, I think I will start shopping for its replacement anyway. It sounds like this was a very bad model for KitchenAid. We also had the dishwasher door spring break just like others had described.

We have been in our brand new house for six weeks now with our upgraded KitchenAid appliances and have used the dishwasher less than 10 times. Last week lights started blinking, called KitchenAid and they had me press some buttons, unplug for a while and then referred me to a local authorized service center. Repair person came out, did exactly what I did, wrote some notes and told me he would have to have KitchenAid authorize the order of a control board. Really????? I waited a week for the technician to do exactly the same thing KitchenAid had me do? Now it will be another week before the part comes in? Hugely disappointed in this product. I had my previous dishwasher (GE Profile) in my other house -- also brand new -- for 14 years with NO problems whatsoever. Very disillusioned with KitchenAid right now.

I purchased the KitchenAid Gas/Convection Range with AquaLift Self-Cleaning
I purchased the KitchenAid Gas/Convection Range with AquaLift Self-Cleaning Technology. To put it simply - it does not work. It requires you to pour 1 3/4 filtered water on to the bottom of the range after you remove all racks. Click clean button and poof, in 40 minutes your oven is clean...NOT! I am not a cook. I purchased this oven almost 2 years ago. Ive used it less than 10 times. Mostly for holiday dinners. It just is not that dirty. Tried the self-cleaning feature twice. No difference. It just does not work. I am currently also questioning whether the oven is really working well at all. It takes forever to preheat and lately, more time than usual to cook food. I called customer service as I purchased an extended warranty. They wont come out until I troubleshoot all issues. Their recommendation was to unplug the oven and wait 30 minutes before plugging it back in - to reset the oven. Try cooking something and see if that solves the problem. Havent done that yet at the time of this review, however, I think this is an oven I would avoid purchasing. I know Im going to have to end up scrubbing the inside myself and be forced to use the recommended cleaners and tools or risk forfeiting the warranty. It is a great looking oven. It was recommended to me when I was looking to purchase all new kitchen appliances after a total kitchen reno. I just have a bad feeling about this appliance. Cant imagine what others with families and those that use this oven often are going through regarding the ability to clean it. This AquaLift, low-heat technology DOES NOT WORK.

I am deeply disappointed with KitchenAid, an appliance manufacturer whom I thought built high quality, reliable products and who stood behind their products. I have a model KSSSC48QMS03 refrigerator that constantly runs with 1 second pauses and pinging noise. Technician diagnosed as faulty Gemini board 2307028 (W10219463). I cannot believe that Kitchen Aid does not provide repair part 2307028 (W10219463)! My home is only 8 years old and a showcase of high-end KitchenAid built-in stainless steel appliances; 48 wide refrigerator, microwave, warming drawer, double drawer dishwasher and gas stove with steamer. This Gemini Electronic Control is for the refrigerator (and, according to the service technician, in the stove as well). There are all kinds of complaints on the internet about KA refrigerators running continuously with a sonar-like pinging noise diagnosed as this faulty board. It is unbelievable that I have a $9K refrigerator for which KA will not provide a replacement part. According to the KA recommended service company, the only solution is to send the board off to a refurbisher. I dont like to buy parts from someone that is not supported by the manufacturer. Not that they may not do a good job, but that its not a new part, factory tested with manufacturer warranty. If this is what I can expect from KA, then as these appliances need to be replaced, I will change to a manufacturer who supports their products. Unbelievable, KitchenAid (Whirlpool)! This is probably a $50 part to manufacture that they could sell easily for $300. How can they anger so many customers? One comment said that KA told them this was due to the Tsunami in Japan that wiped out the plant. We had a plant affected as well at my company and its not hard to take the design to another manufacturing location.

We purchased the KUDS30IXWH in November of 2014. The unit works perfectly to our great satisfaction. Extremely quiet and dishes/glass are sparkling clean. We have only used the Normal Cycle. Cannot vouch for the other ones. At delivery the unit looked great. No problems were visible. Suddenly three months later blemishes/spots/watermarks mysteriously appeared on the white front panel. We tried every possible way to remove them. When wet they disappear but all reappear as soon as the surface dries up. Very strange! We are trying to find out whether other people experienced the same problem before contacting the company.

Pretty much everything was covered, ad nauseam, in this blog. New house, new appliances - the repairman was here three times because our $7,000 SXS KitchenAid fridge/freezer (Model: Kss048FTX03) was not cooling. The repairman said the first time he was here that he installed the part that would solve the problem. Well, he will be back in 4-5 days with another part. It seems that the wall between the fridge and the freezer builds up ice that prevents cooling in the refrigerator. At least, that is what I am told. I was also told that he is very frequently called out to repair this issue.I mainly bought this product because we wanted to install custom door overlays to match our cabinets and a large unit. Not a lot is available in Hawaii and we were able to order this from Lowes. We are so sorry we did. Im glad that I purchased extended warranties on all appliances and am real glad that only two of them are KitchenAid! We, too, have lost all our food twice, not to mention the hassle of removing everything together with the thaw out and order process for parts. Should we have a class action here? We shall see. Im glad I found this site. My husband is a litigation lawyer with just such experience, so I may be back in touch with everyone when the next repair fails!

I remodeled my kitchen in 2004 with all new beautiful stainless KitchenAid
I remodeled my kitchen in 2004 with all new beautiful stainless KitchenAid appliances including a built-in $5000 fridge. The first thing that broke was the handle on my microwave right after the warranty ended - it couldnt be fixed without replacing the whole door, so I kept super gluing it till it finally blew in 2010 and couldnt be fixed. I replaced it with another KitchenAid microwave which was supposed to be comparable but it wasnt. It was my fault for not researching better, but it was Thanksgiving and I needed a new one immediately. The next appliance to break was my stove (also within just a few months of warranty ending) - just one burner, but wow! Was it pricey, a $300 part + the labor cost - so far so good. The next appliance to break was my dishwasher about 9 months ago - it needed a new inner door panel - part was no longer made. I finally found one in California, but between the part, shipping, and installation - over $400 - it doesnt make $ sense. Now, my gorgeous built-in fridge is broken. First, I replaced the thermostat. It worked fine for 1 day. Now, they say it must be a computer board - which the part is no longer available. It can be rebuilt, but with no guarantees it will work - so $300 for the rebuild, $150 to reinstall. Its about 5-8 weeks estimate to get the part back - so there is no fridge during that time. It may be worth it as the replacement cost for same fridge today is $8,000.Ive got to say that the service repair people have been awful (A&E). Theyre either late, or dont show up at all, and, so far, the majority of repairs Ive needed couldnt even be done. KitchenAid customer service is very frustrating. They love to tell you how sorry they are you are having these problems and are happy to set you up to purchase new appliances. I have 2 other refrigerators in my garage (thank God). One is a KitchenAid about 20 years old; the other is a 25+ year-old Maytag I think - neither of these have ever even needed a repair. Whats up with newer appliances? Do they have a chip in them designed to break right after the warranty is up? Ive started reading complaints not only for KitchenAid, but GE and others as well. It seems the consumer is just screwed as there are tons of complaints on all these manufacturers. Its painfully obvious that Im going to just have to replace all of these appliances very prematurely because of poor quality, design and workmanship, lack of replacement parts or rebuilding computer boards that have no warranties or guarantees. Im researching to see if there are any alternatives, any appliance manufacturer that can give me any sense of getting my monies worth. So far, it doesnt look good ... but for sure I will not buy KitchenAid products nor recommend them. I will, however, be happy to share with my friends/family/whoever what a bad experience I have had with their products, the lack of quality, the high cost, and the poor service after the fact. Sign me distressed, tired, ripped off. I almost forgot - my KitchenAid toaster also broke right after the warranty was out!

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. They are finished with us as we are with them.

I have KitchenAid Refrigerator KFIV29PCMS/01 Serial K33102532 (Less than 2 years old). The unit wasnt cooling so we decided to call any service company to get it fixed. They found that there was a leak on the refrigerator evaporator. We tried to order the part but there was no record of the part number on the system, so we decided to call customer service and they told us that that part was not serviceable so we ask them to talk to a supervisor for an advice because we dont want to dump a refrigerator that was barely new. Finally they had someone from the service depart. calling and telling us that of course the unit can be service but it has to be service by them, because they warranty the sealed system for several years and that was part of the sealed system. They got all my info. Never heard from then. I tried to call back many times to find out for a solution. They make you wait... Then I tried the call me back option and yes they call you back and then they make you wait... and then they redirect your call and then they make you wait... and they redirect your call again. Conclusion Im stucked with a new broken refrigerator. They wont let you solved the problem not even if you pay for it and they dont freaking care. Really sad for such a big corporation.

Every Kitchen Aid appliance we own has failed. We have had multiple repairs to the refrigerator (compressor failed), dishwasher (door hinges made of cord failed), oven (multiple problems), microwave door, etc. Only after I started blogging all over the internet, did Whirlpool partially compensate us for repairs (that is a very long story). This month, the plastic tabs holding the vent above the microwave broke, and the oven racks rusted when I washed them. The oven self-cleaning cycle doesnt work very well either. I purchase a KitchenAid refrigerator (20.0 cu ft counter-depth) from Sears 12/20/14 ($1979.99). I purchased a 5-year warranty package from KitchenAid too. Six months later I found a big puddle of water on the kitchen floor coming from the freezer compartment. I called KitchenAid and when the woman asked me what was going on in the freezer (I told her frost was forming in the ice compartment); she told me that it was warranted under the first year and gave me a number of a company (Calif. Appliance Tech) to call. They came out on July 8, 2015 and told me the problem was the gasket on the left side hadnt been properly sealed and was letting air in. They left and a few days later someone from CAT called to tell me the part was ordered and it should arrive in 6 weeks. It never arrived. When I spoke to John on 9/18, he insinuated that I can still use the freezer which is not so. He told the part (freezer) has to be manufactured and I have to be patient as there is a long back order! In the meantime, CAT closed the case and it had to be re-opened when I called back on October 16th.What does this say about the crappy product? The freezer is completely frozen shut so I cannot open the door and have to make numerous trips to the market as I cant use the freezer. I went back to Sears in Santa Monica and told their customers in the appliance area not to purchase any product with KitchenAid in the name. I was very vocal to the shoppers about the horrible experience with them (Whirlpool owns them). I then spoke to John at Sears who took me to their computer and looked up the part KitchenAid told me had to be manufactured and the part is readily available.I am so angry with KitchenAid. They are liars! John at Sears told me the part with gasket could be purchased thru them but it will terminate my warranty and would cost me up to $1,000 to replace. I paid an additional $266 for the 5-year warranty. I am ready to throw in the bucket, call Goodwill to haul it away and purchase a product that doesnt have KitchenAid or Whirlpool in its name. John told me that had I purchased the Sears warranty this wouldnt have happened. How can KitchenAid get away with not providing the warranty they tell us we have? My last call was to Josh on 10/16/15 and was again told the part would arrive in 6-8 weeks.

Purchased brand new stove, fridge and dishwasher (all Kitchenaid). Fridge and dishwasher so far are fine (its been a month) but the stove...MAJOR DESIGN FLAW! (model # KGRS303BSS1) Gas range will cause injury during normal use! I was using the top burners and oven at the same time to cook dinner (because people use stoves to eat) and after having it on for about 15 minutes or so, the knobs get SO HOT you BURN YOUR HANDS! This lesson was learned after my 20-month old son decided touching the knobs was a good idea and burnt both his hands. They stupidly put the venting for the oven in the FRONT of the stove just under the knobs for the burners instead of at the back of the range like most companies do. WHY? THIS IS STUPID! So, after being on hold and on the phone for almost AN HOUR, WAITING for the rep to schedule a technician to come out to look at the range to see there indeed is a design flaw when he can just look at a picture of it online as its THE SAME THING. So I hung up and decided to advise anyone and everyone NOT to purchase this stove unless youd like to burn yourself and your children every time you want to use the stove. Not to mention the RIDICULOUS wait times for the phone reps to do anything. Do not waste your money on this stove... and it wasnt cheap to begin with. Shame on you Kitchenaid!

I have never been more unhappy with products I have bought, we upgraded all our kitchen appliances about 8 years ago and decided to go with KitchenAid products (Refrigerator, Stove top range). We have had numerous issues with both products starting within 2 years of purchase. The stove valves were the first to go, and then failed again several times in the past 6 years. The refrigerator ice maker solenoid was the second item to fail. Recently the refrigerator seal system went, just a few months after the warranty expired. Today the stove ignition switch failed and the stove wont stop clicking. The seal system repair on the refrigerator was estimated at $1700. A new GE sells for 1000. I have the Kitchenaid electric double oven range model YKFED500ESS2. Its just my spouse and I here and we rarely use the oven at all, let alone the top oven. I wanted to use it one day, and noticed that all of the paint/enamel in the recessed corner of the rectangular indent at the bottom of the oven, was chipping off and cracks forming along the entire edge. The enamel chips were about 1/16 inch thick, and coming off in chunks and strips. My oven is about 16 months old, but I think this problem started before I noticed it. Of course, you can now assume that this oven is just off its warranty. I called Kitchenaid to complain and see if they would cover this DEFECT. They said nope... Its off warranty and just cosmetic. I ask you... If you bought a brand new car and the paint fell off it less than a year and a half later... Would you be happy? Needless to say, I am NOT happy and I will NEVER buy a Kitchenaid product of any kind again. They obviously make poor quality products and you are SOL when their stuff falls apart right after the warranty is over. I also have had issues with the fridge I bought at the same time... Even after disconnecting the unit, I will power it back up & the Lock key or F2 will appear again & the microwave will not work at all. The beeping will continue for minutes on end. This product is dangerous and after having read the same complaints on Consumer Affairs website, its a major wonder why it has not been recalled as some consumers have stated that the microwave will suddenly turn on. I contacted Kitchen Aid & had a live chat with a rep who said, Based on the issues that youre describing, there are no recalls for the problem with this model and serial combination. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. We can only suggest for an accurate diagnosis and satisfactory addressing of any malfunctioning component that may be contributing to your concern that you contact a local factory certified care provider for further assistance. Would you like some referrals?. This is very disappointing to hear, Kitchen Aid is not doing anything about the issue.

Purchased all new appliances 4 years ago, worst mistake and purchase ever made. Our KitchenAid fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave were all replaced 4 times. That was by the store we bought them from NOT the actual company as KitchenAid will not replace their defective junk. The fridge we have now was purchased in 2016 and has been repaired 3 times already, currently pending a fourth repair after having to fight with the executive office this morning. Our fridge is making the loudest vibrating noise you can’t stand to stay in our 3600sq ft home. Customer service could get someone out by the 26th! Two weeks away. I called the service company they schedule at and they luckily had a cancellation tomorrow but told me it’s not under warranty. KitchenAid sent over the old fridge they replaced model number and warranty info., which, it would still have been covered. When I called executive management again today they wanted to blame me saying there are so many files. It’s hard to find things. So I had to give Nikisha the work order number her customer service gave me! Then she said, Oh, it was a manual submission. Seriously?! Then I had to read the warranty to her from the book I was given about how the warranty works. Horrible appliances, horrible customer service and I dread tomorrow as every time service comes out it requires a part and parts take 2-4 weeks to receive!

I do not like my KitchenAid dishwasher! The dishwasher does not clean my dishes!! When I unload the dishwasher, I have to inspect every dish and glass and I end up washing at least 5-6 pieces of unclean dishes. For example, just the other day, I remove a coffee cup that still had hot chocolate residue inside the cup!! It looked like it was never washed and I do know how to load a dishwasher.

Called Kitchen Aid to advise that my stainless steel Kitchen Aid refrigerator began developing rust marks 2 years after purchase despite using stainless steel cleaning product recommended. Advised that cosmetics such as rust or discoloration after 30 days from date of purchase are not something they will address. Advised that they do not sell warranty for rust or discoloration. My Kitchen Aid stainless steel range which was purchased at the same time also has a spot where it is discolored. I expect this is only the beginning. The stainless steel used is manufacturing Kitchen Aid is obviously VERY poor quality. When I asked both the customer rep and the manager if Kitchen Aid considered it okay that their products should begin rusting after 2 years, they stated that they were only saying that after 30 days cosmetic issues like rust and other discoloration is not something they can help with. Nor is it something that they will warrant. If you are looking for your appliances to look good in your kitchen for more than a couple of years, I do not recommend Kitchen Aid.

Bought a brand new refrigerator. Thought I was buying top of the line but found out I paid top dollar for a loud broken unit that even KitchenAid wont fix. Nothing but problems with the unit since I plugged it in. Between compressor, water adapter, and broken reservoir I havent been able to use a fully functioning unit for 2 years. The support offered from KitchenAid is next-to-nothing. They simply do not care that their unit does not function.

Told needed extended warranty for $400 for service. Next day service told me no part as not made. Rebuilt was only option without warranty & 2 weeks of waiting & if faulty, continue to return until they make it right. Receiving harassing phone calls (2 times) from first service man with demand of $275.00 at almost midnight. Out $400.00 & refrigerator does not work. Cant go without insulin as diabetic. We spent $665.11 on a microwave that lasted 1 year and 2 months. As is does not fall into their 1 year warranty, they refuse to help or compensate in any way. We had the same issue with a $900 dishwasher we purchased from KitchenAid a couple of years ago. BOTH appliances stopped working after exactly 1 year! It would seem that they are in the business of manufacturing CHEAP China appliances that break shortly after their warranty so you must purchase another one.Customer service is no help at all. They just read from a script repeating the same sentence over and over again. Other companies like Black & Decker and GE have much better customer service and ability to help customers when their products do not work. Would shop from them instead! Purchased this unit in 2010 with an extended warranty. The unit died in 2012 and was able to get it replaced because of the extended warranty. However an extended warranty was not offered to me on the replacement. The replacement was installed in November 2012 and failed to heat anything in 2015, approximately 2 1/2 years old. I called KitchenAid and spoke with their representative in Tennessee, I explained that this was the second microwave that failed in a two year timeframe. The lady was not very helpful. All she wanted to do was sell me a warranty or I could pay to have a technician come out and look at it. She advised me complaints on defective manufacturing are based on Service Technician calls since they did not have any for this Model then there is nothing wrong with it. I asked her why would 2 of the same units fail during the same time frame and KitchenAid would not recognize that something is wrong with the unit. I told her I could buy a microwave for less than $100.00 and it would last longer than this model. She told me I should have bought an extended warranty. Apparently I am to blame because I did not get an extended warranty from them for $329.00. At this point she stopped listening to my questions and proceeded in a very loud voice which can be heard clearly from 3 feet away that KitchenAid stands behind their product and there is nothing wrong with that Model microwave because there have not been any complaints. I told her to search the internet. If KitchenAid sold quality products and stand behind their products why would there be a need for an extended warranty. Very, very poor customer service. Therefore if you buy a KitchenAid appliance buy a very long extended warranty because their items are not cheap and the warranty is not cheap also.

We did a total kitchen remodel and included a dishwashing machine, which the house never had before. We sprung for the higher end stainless steel tub KitchenAid KDFE104DSS1 (2016). 3 months later the machine stopped moving water, but could still drain. Warranty phone call... repair tech does two visits... one for diagnosis and one for part install (new pump). Up and running. 5 months later same deal. Another warranty call and two visits... back up and running. Now I notice the rusting slide rails for the upper deck. Now into the out of warranty mode and the pump fails again.Going shopping today for a cheaper machine... putting the KitchenAid trash out on the curb for the recycle guy. BTW there were intermittent events for soap dispenser door not opening. (No dishes in the way.) Food pieces splashed around hanging on the walls... and then theres the smell. This model likes to hold used water between washes and after just one day of no use, OMG what a stank.

We bought our home in May 2011 with a one-year old KitchenAid oven. Last week, I used the self cleaning cycle for the first time. The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. It was covered with an oven tray so we did not see it but I now suspect that this was also due to a fault in the stove/heating. We have two KitchenAid ovens!

We purchased a nearly $4000 KitchenAid refrigerator on May 22, 2019 (KPFC704FSS). Within a year (June 17, 2020, the ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator stopped cooling. During the course of the next two and a half months, a new compressor was installed. The fridge began to cool again, but no ice was being made. A new ice maker was ordered, but Whirlpool initially refused to provide it at no charge. Eventually, the company relented and a new ice maker was installed on July 16. Within days of installation of the ice maker, there was still no ice being made. After more phone calls, we were offered a voucher for a new refrigerator of any kind or a new KitchenAid fridge identical to the one we had. We agreed to a new KitchenAid refrigerator be delivered. BIG MISTAKE!After no delivery or delivery notice for three weeks, on August 17, 2020, a call was made to the appliance store to determine the delivery status of our new replacement refrigerator and we were told to call back on September 16 —perhaps by then a there would be an answer to our question of ‘when?’ Presently, there is no known delivery date; not even a known month of possible delivery. Throughout the past three months, and who knows how much longer, the appliance store has continued to do its best; however, KitchenAid/Whirlpool has failed all ‘reasonable standards’ of good corporate consumer service. Never again will a Whirlpool product be purchased by us.

Purchased in April 2013 in BrandSmart USA, model as per attached photo (french door) began showing signs of ice in the back upper left corner. A continuous noise (zzzz) non stopping, louder by the day until I called BrandSmartUSA service. One technician came and, after taking out the lower big drawer and removing the interior back cover, found a ball of ice covering the upper part of the evaporator. He removed the ice and said the evaporator needed to be changed. A few days after, he came back with a fan. Looks like his service experts didnt agree with his assessment and changed it to change the fan.He came back, upset when he realized instead of an evaporator, he got a fan. He removed again the lower drawer, the internal back cover to find out a perfectly functioning fan but an evaporator that is already forming ice again. Im the mean time, another technician came and his diagnostic was that the assembly behind the ice maker/water disposal (see picture, located on top, left inside corner) needed to be replaced. According to him this is the assembly that controls the cool air distribution and its malfunction causes the problems I am experiencing. According to him, it is a common problem of this model. So, after three visits of the technicians a less than two years old refrigerator still doesnt work properly. One theory: change the evaporator, Second theory: change the upper assembly. One thing is certain, I wont buy ever again a KitchenAid refrigerator and will think three times before buying appliances from BrandSmartUSA.

Obviously, I am extremely dissatisfied with this refrigerator to take time to write a review. I dont even know where to start to list the problems weve had. Repairs have been time-consuming and costly. One repair to replace almost all of the working innards was 4 hours of labor. At least Whirpool covered the parts ($1500) and labor ($700) but only covered the labor after I called customer service and complained. Other problems include the metal strips on drawers discoloring and peeling after only 2 years, plastic vegetable drawers breaking and needing replacing at $100 each (out of pocket). The protective kick panel is broken and wont re-attach so bottom wires sticking out. The fridge and freezer doors are permanently misaligned and dont line up at top and one door protrudes at bottom. Technician says cant be fixed. Husband has tried to fix using instructions in booklet with no luck. Ice maker stopped working. Fridge occasionally leaks large amount of water into kitchen. Technician cant seem to fix problem. It is absolutely the worst appliance I have ever owned. Im 63. Its a total of piece of junk.

We purchased a KUDE40 dishwasher in January of 2011 complete with stainless steel interior. The top rack glides keep popping open, letting the rack fall off. To make matters worse, the plastic wheels fell off the top adjustable rack due to the breaking of the plastic pieces that hold the wheels in place. Of course, this happened right after the year warranty was up. Luckily, I saved the service call and ordered the part online for $25 each and replaced the parts myself. Based on what I have read on other places on the internet, this is a problem for everyone and KitchenAid will do nothing about it. I will not buy another KitchenAid dishwasher and plan to tell as many people as I can not to buy one either.KitchenAid needs to listen to the public and fix this issue free of charge. If it happens to you, order the part online and carefully disassemble about 4 parts to replace the plastic piece with the wheels. A small screw driver to pop off the plastic parts was all that was needed and we used the other side as a guide to what goes where were putting it back together. Total time: about 15 minutes to replace one side. The part is the same for the right and left sides. Save yourself the service call!

My brand new Kitchen Aid KBLS22KWMS arrived yesterday. Its a bottom freezer, single top door model. The bottom deli drawer kept sticking every time I opened it, so I took the drawers out, to try to find the problem. Thats when I saw that the molded plastic, on which rests the shelf supports on the deli and crisper doors, was very thin, and could be pushed in with just normal pressure from my finger. One of the supports was dented in already. Crisper drawers and the deli drawer are held by plastic frames, with no metal at all. Only the top shelves have full metal support. All the plastic is really shoddy workmanship. I have no faith that this fridge will last even a year, much less 5. Its going back to Lowes tomorrow. I had thought that Kitchen Aid was supposed to be a higher end appliance from Whirlpool. Now I will not buy another Whirlpool owned product.

We installed all KitchenAid appliances in our new house which we moved into on September 3, 2014. The microwave/convection appliance (model KBHS179BSS00) failed completely after three days. The store where we purchased it RELUCTANTLY replaced it. That unit worked only in microwave mode. In convection mode, it would not finish a cycle and had to be reset over and over to complete a cycle. KitchenAid replaced this one, but it froze up and could not be cleared to use it again. On December 22, they sent a third one and it also froze up. Today they replaced the entire keypad and electronic motherboard, but it would not work at all. They put the old part back and it is working right now, but they are going to order another new keyboard, etc. The vendor has washed his hands of the problem, so we are at the mercy of KitchenAid. They did tell us they would replace the entire unit again if the new part fails.

I have a KitchenAid Model KHHC2090SSS-2 Architect series. I have an extensive experience with concerns regarding this model. I called KitchenAid, and they immediately sent me to their safety department. They offered to fix it free of charge. Well, 4 months after being repaired, it started doing this again. After investigating this more, I have learned that KitchenAid has this problem, and Consumer Reports did an extensive investigation. Other models are involved. Fires have occurred. We bought this KitchenAid stainless steel 5-Door French door refrigerator at Best Buy in Nov 2016. After a couple of days of installation, we noticed the freezer frosting, so we went back to Best Buy and requested a replacement. The replacement same model refrigerator was delivered in Dec. In Jan 2017, the same frosting problem occurred. We called Best Buy asking to get it replaced again but told us to call KitchenAid because the purchase date was already over 1 month. Called KitchenAid and asked them if we can just get the refrigerator replaced or get a refund and told them that Ive read a lot of reviews about this refrigerator with freezer frosting and that KitchenAid should have known about this problem already. But KitchenAid customer service lack knowledge. All they know is schedule repairs. From here started the repair process. Theyve sent this repair people several times (6x) already coming up with different ways to fix the problem but the freezer frosting still persist. This last fix that KitchenAid tech support told the repair people is to replace the door and it will take 4-6 wks to get the part. It is very inconvenient. All Im asking KitchenAid is give us a refund since it is new so we can get a good working refrigerator. But all they can do is schedule a repair.

Bought a very nice KitchenAid refrigerator less than a year ago, was one of the better models (KFIS29PBMS00) and today it is repairable but according to the warranty service technician, it would be cheaper to replace it but that will take 5 BUSINESS days. WHAT? Surely that is a joke, this company makes good products and I thought would stand behind their warranty as in replacing something quickly. In 5 Business days when THEY make a decision, all my food will be spoiled ($600 down the drain). If they know they have an issue, and my issue is known, and they determine it is best to replace the appliance, why in HELL does it take 5 business days to make that decision? Obviously there is an issue with this model.Do yourself a favor, find a different brand, or expect any issues that are essentially recalls to take 5 business days to decide upon and who knows how much longer to actually get appliance in house. I have called them 3 times, and no remedy. Just the standard it takes 5 business days to go before a review board... WTF? That is BS. We should have bought the Sub Zero. KitchenAid has gone the way of any other use to be good product. The customer service rep thought it comical that I would get on the social media sites and provide this information. If you are in the habit of spending 3K for a throw away item and like to buy new major products every year, this is the one for you. For the rest of us, run and find something else and make sure the company will actually do as they claim on the warrant in a reasonable time frame. The issue is a known problem with the compressor that causes a leak of refrigerant over time. The company has determined it is cheaper for them to replace the product rather than fix it with proper materials. Yet, they take 5 business days to make this determination? If it is a known issue with all the same error codes and profiles of the same problem, the right thing to do is to apologize to the customer and ask them when they are available to receive the replacement. Now I am out $600+ on food.
