Having multiple apartments I have some experience with water heaters, with that being said, old school water heaters would last 30 years with basically no maintenance. Since those old, manual no BS flashing light codes were replaced with Whirlpool brand, I see constant problems. Honeywell valve/motherboards was the worst thing that could have been put on any equipment. More or less they all failed within few months past warranty expiration date. Replacement part is cost almost half of what brand new product costs. When called customer service, they are aware of said problem but will not help, or recall above product. There are plenty of videos and forums of people complaining about the same issue. Being poorly treated by customer service, I know that I will no longer be spending my money on whirlpool brand. 3 years off of the water heater is a joke.

GS6SHEXNB02 Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator - Bad ice maker module. Ice maker valve is bad. Its gone out 3 times a year since I got it. We order a replacement, it goes bad again. Its not the ice maker itself, its a bad valve. Signs its going out, ice maker stops making ice or the ice cubes are small or the refrigerator water will start pulsing coming out (start and stop). Whirlpool made a bad product and they know about. Several complaints online about the ice maker no longer making ice. Bad product.

I purchased a 40-gal Whirlpool water heater model 40t91-403 last week and paid a plumber to have it installed. The old one (GE 40 gal) worked fine except for a leak. The new one used all of the old connections except the 2-inch in and out pipes. Same connections, hot, cold and gas. At first I got about a quart of hot water and then all cold. Whirlpool changed the valve and cold water pipe (inside the tank) and still the same. They are trying to tell me that the tank is fine - I have a plumbing problem. Two plumbers have told me different, but still they insist. Yes, I am upset. The old GE, even with a leak, performed better!

Without a doubt, the worst washing machine Ive ever owned. After 15 years, my trusty old Maytag finally quit, so we searched around and ended up purchasing the Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum 3 years ago. In that time, the hinge on the lid broke, and now it makes a deafening noise when spinning. We called a repairman and he said the bearings were bad and needed to be replaced... Total cost $275 plus $50 for fixing the lid. When we told the repairman that it was only 3 years old he couldnt believe it! We decided against fixing it because from the start it never got the clothes as clean as we were used to, and without the agitator post in the middle, which was a big selling point by the salesperson who sold it to us, the washer continually stops with an Uneven Load message. Large load, small load, it doesnt matter. You cant do a load of any size without the load becoming uneven. We are now searching for a new washer, and although I dont know what well buy, I can guarantee it wont be a Whirlpool.

We purchased our Whirlpool Water Heater about 2 years ago. Three weeks after we bought it, it stopped working; the pilot light would not light. They sent a tech out to replace the thermostat and the thermocouple. Now, it has stopped working again. My husband and I have spent nearly 20 hours on the phone with the WP customer service girls and replaced nearly every part but the tank it self. We have not had hot water for over a week and are at wits end! My husband finally got them to authorize us to get a new water heater from Lowes after they told him there was nothing else they could do to help us. Ive read pages and pages of complaints from other people having this same problem. Why do they put you through all the torture if they know its not going to work? Its very frustrating! We are almost to a point of ripping out all the gas lines and going electric! Will the new one we picked up today have the same problems? Only time will tell!

I bought a Whirlpool fridge in 2014 and started having problems a year late
I bought a Whirlpool fridge in 2014 and started having problems a year later. It was making really loud noises and the fridge part wasnt working. All the food was warm. Of course there is no warranty on it after one year. I called a repairman and he said that the doors dont seal properly so the warm air is getting in causing condensation which freezes the engine/fan which is the cause of the loud noise. The reason why the upper fridge is warm is because the fan pushes the cold air up from the freezer, which of course wasnt working. Then I noticed that the frame at the bottom of the fridge is bending causing the freezer not to seal properly which would be the reason for warm air getting inside the fridge.

I was doing a routine refrigerator cleaning and the glass I was cleaning absolutely shattered all over my kitchen. Shards of glass are everywhere including my disposal. I called Whirlpool and talked to a customer service rep. Of course, this is not under warranty. So I asked to speak with a supervisor. All I could get from her is Sorry, youre disappointed. We can replace that part for $87.71. It has taken me over two hours to clean up all the glass. I wouldnt be upset if I had mishandled the glass, but it broke when I was drying it with a towel! I’m wondering if anyone elses glass shattered in the same fashion.

August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-40
August 15, 2011 - We purchased a new Whirlpool Water Heater Model N50T61-403 for $398 from Lowes. We used their recommended installer (that was our first mistake!). He made the following installation mistakes: 1. He connected the hot water to the cold water & the cold water to the hot water. 2. He installed DRYER venting instead of HVAC venting. 3. He used flammable tape on the venting instead of screws. 4. He had incompatible metals touching near the gas line which can create an electrical charge & thus, a sparking situation. 5. He left us with a gas leak. 6. He did not install the screen that is supposed to surround the base of the water heater.7. He failed to strap down the expansion tank. These failures were discovered by an HVAC person who was in our basement to give an estimate on a replacement of the furnace & AC coil at the same time this genius was installing our water heater. The installer overheard the comments & literally... he disappeared & we never saw him again! We told all of this to Lowes & they were not phased in the least -- indeed, they didnt even seem surprised! They sent out a few other guys from the same company to correct the errors. So, it finally was installed & passed the county inspection & we had hot water again... for a little while. Within a few months the water heater pilot light would not stay lit. I was having to relight it once a week or so. After much arm twisting, we were finally able to get Whirlpool to send out a new pilot light assembly and pay for the installation. It was installed July 25, 2012. And.... it worked for 8 months. After returning from a trip on April 30, 2013, we went to take showers & the water was cold. The same problem was happening again... The pilot light had gone out while we were out of town & it will not stay lit & I have to relight it every 2-3 days.We talked to an assistant manager at the Lowes store where it was purchased. He talked to Whirlpool & Whirlpool said they would pay for the parts but not the service call which would be $149. I also learned today from the same manager that Whirlpool will not replace the product until they have replaced the same parts three times. Hmmmm.... Lets do some basic math here. $149 x 3 = $447! Thats MORE than the water heater cost! We believe that the water heater has been defective from day one & we also contend that their replacement part for the pilot light assembly is also defective (by design??). A pilot light assembly should last longer than 8 months! We are getting ready to build a new home within the next year. We will get to choose our supplier & the manufacturer of the appliances that will be in our home. Needless to say, Lowes will not be on the list. They keep saying, Our hands are tied. (Not buying it!) And Whirlpool will definitely be off of our list as their customer service is the worst Ive ever seen & their product quality is sub par. The other thing I experienced with Lowes was that when I tried to leave a review on their site for this specific product... twice... both reviews were rejected. The reviews presented the facts as Ive stated here, but because they showed Lowes & Whirlpool in a negative light, they were not posted on lowes.com. So, consumer beware -- their reviews are heavily screened so that the negative reviews rarely get posted. The consumer should be aware that the reviews on Lowes website are heavily screened & therefore do not equally represent consumers who have had a negative experience. This is an integrity issue.

We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio, top load washing machine WTW6600SW back in 11/07. Last week (todays date is 8/19/11), the machine sounded like a plane taking off when it spins out. When the local service technician came out this week, he said that the bearings are shot. Since the tub and bearings are all one part, we were told by the technician that the part and labor costs would be $379.99 to repair it. We originally paid $799.00 for the Cabrio, less than four years ago. Whirlpool would not even give us a concession of a new tub and bearing part as it was out of the 1 year warranty.

6 years ago, we bought the refrigerator, the oven and the dishwasher. Theyre all Whirlpool appliances. With that, we took the 5 years guarantee extension for all those appliances. After 6 months, the electronic front panel of the oven jammed. The repairman knew what was the problem and had to change this panel. Then a month before the expiration of the guarantee extension, the refrigerator never stop running. I have to call them 3 times before they place a service call at the right place, very strange. Now, the auto-clean on the oven doesnt work. The very known E1-F5 error on the display and no solutions that work. Whirlpool, never again and I will make the real publicity for this brand without a shame.

The washing machine must have been designed by a 3-year-old! Whirlpool, youre getting greedy and youre making your products CHEAP! I know this is fact, I have a 15-year-old side by side in my garage made by Whirlpool and it works great! Fire your 3-year-old designer! I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again! After all said and done, this pair has cost me total purchase and repairs over $4,000! And Now my bearings are bad! Thank God for YouTube! Im fixing it myself this time!

I purchased a Whirlpool dryer about 18 months ago. Within 2 months the timer went out. Of course I am still under the manufacturer warranty they came and fixed it. Now a year after the same problem occur. Whirlpool convinced me to buy and extended warranty for $268.00 and scheduled service with Platinum Factory. Took a day off work, then they call me to cancel the appointment. I will advised people not to buy Whirlpool appliances because that is not the appliance I have with them. All whirlpool appliances have a defect. My refrigerator, my washer and dryer, my microwave all have issues. Most of the whirlpool at all. Services agents are rude and not professional. One agent from Tennessee had the nerve to tell me I have to lose money to get services right. When asked to cancel service plan I was told to write a letter to get my money back. My advice if you are in the process of changing your appliances DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES because your problem will not be resolve by talking to those stupid agents and will not let you talk to a supervisor.

I absolutely hate my Whirlpool refrigerator! The first day I had it, the cover to the deli drawer fell off and cracked because it wouldnt stay on. I called the company and they sent me a new one but it immediately fell off and broke also. It is just a terrible design. The plastic slots dont fit correctly and it just doesnt stay on.Then, a few months after owning the fridge, I notice rust spots on the bottom drawer. I called the company and a rep told me to buy dishwasher cleaner and a magic eraser and use that to scrub the rust off. She insisted that it must be near humidity. I explained that my GE stove and dishwasher, along with other stainless steel in my kitchen have never rusted. The Whirlpool company provided no help whatsoever and does not back up their warranty. I would never purchase another Whirlpool appliance after this experience. Now I am stuck with a fridge that has rust stains and a broken door.

Four years ago, my wife and I also purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer set, washer model no. WTW6600SB2. Within the first year we had to replace both pumps twice, user interface, and control board. (I think that’s what it was called). Of course, that was all covered under warranty. But I to had to wait a week for the part and then another week for the repairman to make it. The user interface and control board had to be replaced because moisture got into the control panel and caused corrosion on the circuit boards which caused them to short out. Then it wasn’t long after warranty ran out, the whole wash tub and drum just dropped to the floor with a full load in it. I don’t remember exactly what was the cause of it, but I do remember it cost me $580 to fix it. Then it wasnt more than two weeks later, the repairman had to come again and replace the control board again. There went another $600 for the parts, labor and service call because this time they had to come from 40 miles away and it’s a minimum fee of $89 just for them to drive up here and another $60 for diagnostics, and then the part and their time to install new board. I paid for this machine twice in the first year and a half. Then after all of that, it was finally working like it should and worked great for about 6 months, then came the UL,LD, and Lid Lock codes over and over unplug, plug in, unplug, plug in. That lasted for about a month, and then all of a sudden, it straightened out. And we only got the occasional UL code. Now in the last year, I have had to replace the drain pump twice and then the drum and motor dropped on the shaft allowing any loose change or other items if accidentally missed during pocket searches to fall into the outer wash tub and get sucked into the drain pump and causing a quarter to be shoot through the drain pump making a hole and caused my laundry room to flood. Well, I decided I wasn’t going to buy another part so I used a plastic repair kit to fix the hole and got it up and running. A week later, the washer won’t wash. It will fill and that’s it. So upon my own diagnostic, I came to the conclusion that it was the user interface that went out due to corrosion I found on it. So for another $120 I can fix it, but I’m not sticking another dime into the washer, nor will I ever buy another Whirlpool appliance. Once all of my Whirlpool appliances die, I will replace them one at a time with LG. I to contacted Whirlpool about my problems and all they did for me was send me an extended warranty offer for 50% off, really that’s it, that’s all I get is a big GFY after all the money I have stuck into this piece of scrap-metal. Well, never again will you have my business as long as I live. Whirlpool, you need to take your hoo-ya and do something about all of these complaints.

We purchased a water heater at Lowes. Our old water heater had an issue but we always had good water pressure with the hot water until we made the horrendous mistake to purchase at LOWES - the worst possible place to buy a water heater. They sent the water heater and we had to look for someone to connect the WHIRLPOOL WATER HEATER (the runaway water heater). When it was installed the water pressure at my home was so bad that only one shower can be used at a time. This never happened before with the old water heater, there was no pressure at all.We called LOWES the WORST PLACE TO BUY A WATER HEATER, they did not accept any responsibility and they sent me to the Technician that Lowes has in DENVER to fix the problem. This bad company (WHIRLPOOL) sent us a crooked technician who wanted to charge us $600 dollars to repair something other than the water heater. We did not trust this person and we called another technician who told us that the water heater is not working properly. There is no one at LOWES and NO ONE at the Whirlpool customer service who can help us with this disgraceful water heater.DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL WATER HEATERS. DONT BUY AT LOWES!!! They are crooks! They do not respond for their products. They do not want to exchange the damn water heater as HOME DEPOT would. Buy everything at HOME DEPOT! Run away from Lowes! They dont stand behind their products, they send you all the work and if you have something wrong with your purchase they will not help you.

This is a freezer on top unit. Purchased in 2015, unit quit cooling, started making a roaring noise. Called local technician, he added 2 oz of Freon, said he has seen many of these same unit losing Freon. Technician said line that goes to compressor is copper and hooks up to aluminum line before attaching to compressor. This is leak point for freon; no way to know when the leak started, but freon almost gone and cost to pressure check for source of leak is costly and probably would not repair problem. Got 6 yrs out of it and I am replacing with another brand. Will never buy Whirlpool again. Should have got 10-12 yrs of use. Do not buy this unit. Wrote Whirlpool first, but no help. Indicated this could be a problem with these units but no recall so I am on my own. Out $900 for a new refrigerator. Big hassle. Unit no good.

I purchased a house with Whirlpool products installed. The refrigerator wasnt too cold but working for the first 2 months. Then the ice maker stopped working, the freezer stopped working and now nothing works. I have been through 4 service calls, I repaired that took almost 2 hours and the refrigerator is still not working. I have spoken with numerous Whirlpool representatives and they were like robots with respect to their response. There is a chain that they adhere to and once you have spoken to an executive at their corporate office, no one else can help you. Now I am trying to reach that executive and there hasnt been a response. I havent been able to have food in my refrigerator for over 3 weeks and counting. Imagine, eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner for this length of time. Christmas - no refrigerator, New Year - no refrigerator. A consumer who makes a purchase in good faith should not be put to this kind of agony while trying to remedy the situation. I dont know what happened to their customer service but it is nil. This Whirlpool dishwasher is the worst dishwasher I have had in 45 years of using dishwashers. I have bought dishwashers, but now rent and so am stuck with this one. Initially, I complained to the landlord about the dishwasher not getting the dishes clean, so the repairman came and recommend replacement. Unfortunately, it was replaced with the same brand. The new one didnt wash any better than the old one so I pre-rinsed everything and the dishes still come out with sprayed dried food on them. The spray holes in the arms fill with food no matter how thoroughly I rinse the dishes. The silverware in the door rarely is clean. The filter is always coated with food particles. The top shelf is always worse than the bottom shelf. I have used inexpensive GEs before and nothing compares to the poor quality of the whirlpool.

My son purchased the Whirlpool 2 door w/ icemaker about 3 years ago. Twice weve had a repairman here. Yesterday was the 2nd one. He tried 3 ways to get liquid to go through a round coil I could see at the back. He said the problem was between the two back panels (back of fridge & inside wall) where there was a tubing to release the water from defrost cycle. It appears to be a manufacturing problem. Twelve years ago we bought an LPG Whirlpool range for our new home in Rio Rancho, NM. About 5 years ago, a tenant at our home reported a gas leak and the propane company determined that the Whirlpool range was at fault. The dealer in Albuquerque repaired the leak, by replacing all the valves at a cost of $470. A week ago, after a propane fill, once again, at least one valve was found to be leaking. Apparently, Whirlpool does not know how to make a valve that holds up over time. Over a 7 year period, I paid almost double the cost of the stove, only having to replace it at 12 years. These stoves are DANGEROUS! I will not purchase another Whirlpool product for the rest of my life.

I have been buying Whirlpool appliances most of my married life. Our most recent washing purchase is the worst machine I ever owned. I have ruined more clothes, rugs, sheets and towels, etc. than I ever have in my 45 years of doing my own laundry. In fact, I do not EVER remember a washing machine destroying any of my articles. I just pulled 2 almost new rugs out of the washer only to find they have been destroyed! I am pretty sure it is the extremely fast spin cycle that is destroying my items. I know it cant be the agitator because it doesnt move fast enough to even clean the clothes. And the stupid load sensor is absolutely worthless! It does not dispense enough water to even cover the clothes let alone clean them. Go back to the old machines that did their job without destroying anything and actually cleaned the clothes with an amount of water that I chose. I ABSOLUTELY HATE this machine.

Lowes provided me with the Whirlpool phone number for help and they have just informed me it will cost me $35.44 plus shipping. I now see how widespread this problem is. This isnt right. I am very disappointed in the handling of this known problem! What is my next course of action?

First twice the frame that holds the crisper drawers broken. We bought parts and fixed worked for only short time. Second we bought extended warranty from Home Depot for 5 years. At about 4.5 years ice maker started freezing up. The valve that controls the amt of water that goes in was broken. Had it fixed under warranty. Started having a little problem with it in a couple months. Lasted 8 months. Broke again. Froze up. Had to pound on ice maker compartment door to get open. Once again water overflowed. Froze everything up. Called. Of course our of warranty now expired. Called the guy that put the ice maker repair parts in. The part under warranty but now I have to pay for labor and them coming out to look at it. Now why would I want to put another defective ice maker in. I called Whirlpool. They didn’t care. We have many Maytag appliances in our home but they will be the last. The appliances they make now are cheaply made.

I purchased a brand new Whirlpool washing machine only 2 yrs ago. Rather than lasting upward of 10 yrs with normal use as advertised, the machine is nothing more than a giant wash tub. It doesnt Drain and Spin properly. The clothes are still wet at the end of the cycle and I have to either attempt to wring all items by hand or set the machine to Drain and Spin for a second time. Now, it no longer agitates the clothes during either the wash or the rinse. I am SO disappointed in this and very angry that I trusted this well known brand with my hard-earned money. I am also angry at myself for not reviewing internet posts as I am hearing the exact same experiences by others time and again.

Our Model # WRF532SMBW refrigerator was purchased on 8/21/14. In the last several months, it has begun having problems with ice build up in the bottom of the freezer, as well as water puddling around the front legs on the floor. I called Whirlpool and they suggested it was our water line, but it does not leak onto the floor daily. They then suggested I have a serviceman come out for a $120.00 service call, plus whatever other expenses that occur. Or, I could just pay $322.00 and that would take care of the service call, parts and an additional one year warranty. We just bought this refrigerator 23 months ago and it cost $1618.92. Now I need to spend $322.00 additionally! What a rip off. Do not purchase a Whirlpool Refrigerator or any of their other appliances. I see this is a common complaint and wish I had read the reviews earlier. The appliance is only 2 years old.

RE: Our Whirlpool gas range/oven model# GW397LXUS05 installed Oct 2010 started acting up when setting the oven temperature. The 0 doesnt work so we input 355 instead of 350 etc... Other numbers have started to fail as well... Also it needs cleaning but a neighbor with the same model said whatever you do dont use the self clean for the oven, as they did & it literally burnt out the control panel costing them over $400!! Say what?? So we cant use the self-clean feature or well really fry the control board... Would LOVE to hear Whirlpools explanation on this one... And a minor issue but nonetheless worthy of a mention, the oven drawer never slides in/out properly & hasnt fit right from day one...

Purchased top loading Whirlpool Washer WTW5000DW0 10/12/2015 at Best Buys, first no agitator machine for us. Two weeks later I call for repair service because of the noise from tub. Explained in other reviews as earthquake or jet engines. The machine is in the garage and can be heard through the walls into the house. Repair tells this is normal for the machine and it must be our first none agitator machine.I then purchased a extended warranty policy through Whirlpool. 12/13/2016 machine no longer washing clothes. Call Whirlpool for service. Repair came out 01/17/2017 (a month later). Washer plate had to be replaced. The gear was completely shredded. Not in stock, waited 2 weeks to get repaired. Tension springs on outer tub replaced at same time. Was told the excessive grinding and bumping of the tub was not the reason for the gear shredding.06/30/2017 same problem, I set a repair date 07/01/2017 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. No one shows and no call. I call Whirlpool and they are sorry and set the appointment the same day for before 5:00 p.m. No one shows our calls. I call back. Already closed. I call the next day. Sets a new date 07/05/2017, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Same problem. I called back speak to a supervisor who says hell get to problem and find out whats wrong. Sets a new date 07/08/2017 8:00 to 12:00 p.m. 07/07/2017 I get a call after 5:00 p.m. that the repairman is not available and can we reset for 07/13/2017. I hung up and called back the next day and spoke to a supervisor I had previously spoke with. He called an outside repair company that Whirlpool uses in this area. New date 07/12/2017. Repairman shows and I explain the washer plate was loose again and I smelled metal burning. I had told my wife to continue to use the machine to wash the clothes. The repairman tells me I voided the warranty by doing this. Im standing in the garage while he has his head in the machine trying to get the washer plate out. He shuts the lid and turns the machine on wash/spin says the machine is ok. We have an exchange of words and tell him I want to see the washer plate gears. He says he cant get the plate out now and I wasnt there for him to show it to me. This continued until he forced the plate off. He called Tech Support to say I voided the warranty. He told them customer claims loud noises and banging. I asked to speak to Tech but he tells me they dont speak with the customer. I looked at the gears on the washer plate and the transmission. Both had metal shavings. He tells me he is going to do me a favor and replace both. Its supposed to take a week. Wait and see. I have asked for a replacement or money for the machine through Whirlpool. I was told there has to be at least 4 repair requests for the same problem and the repairman has to determine that there is a problem or that its a lemon. I will not recommend or purchase another Whirlpool product.

Purchased a larger hot water heater after reviewing the offerings from the big box stores. Obtained a 40 gallon Lo-Nox type. No problem. Found that I did not have time to install and 3 months later had a company install for almost $300. Within the first month the pilot went out at least 5 times. Had the install company come out and take care of the problem. Worked OK for 2 months and now the pilot light goes out again. Watched the flames myself and find them to be yellow. OK, so try to see what the situation is, call the installer, then call technical support. I am in a basement, on a cell phone and the representative basically has zero patience, zero tolerance for questions, treats me like an idiot and probably has never looked at any of the guides but keeps harping on me.I asked 5 times for patience and guidance not to be treated like an idiot. As time went on it was clear that the representative has zero experience in front of the product or the information in the install guides. She kept calling it a manual and I tried at least 3 times to ensure that her manual is the install guide. She never did affirm. I stated I wanted my money back and she stated no. Whirlpool has a very skillful representative to keep consumers away. However this consumer is a small apt owner that purchases appliances, as well as hot water tanks microwaves etc. No longer will I purchase anything Whirlpool. Oh I will send a complaint about this rep, and she said thats fine send it to the PO box Total lack of product knowledge and not even skillful in a conversation asking for assistance. The installer also stated that this product has horrible reviews. I wish I had seen them before all of this. Total frustration and something unwarranted. I am out $900 and am replacing the tank with a Bradford white from the plumber. Lesson learned. Good bye Whirlpool, hope others stay away from Whirlpool everything. Choosing another brand is the only thing that makes businesses wake up and smell the money.

Bought a Whirlpool 25 cu ft side by side in 2011 and now just 4 years later the compressor is bad. Called them and they only have a 1 year warranty, which is nothing for a compressor. They told me for $350 they could replace it and it be good for only a year. Not going to sink more money into a product even the company has no confidence in. The repairman advised to stay away from Whirlpool as they were not the company they used to be. Also the salesman at Lowes where it came from said they used to have a 5 year warranty but changed several years ago and the quality also went down. We have had refrigerators last 25 to 30 years in the past but no more thanks to modern technology. Thanks a lot. STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL!

We have a Whirlpool range that was produced for Kenmore (Sears brand). It’s a glass top with electronic controls. Over the 13 years we have had this range we’ve had to replace the controls 3 times at a cost of over $300 each time. Each time we were under severe lightning storms and got hit with a surge. It would burn out the Control board. We finally got a whole house surge suppressor since a large device is required for 240 volt appliances. Also the glass top has gotten scored over the years. We would not recommend this oven and will likely replace it with an industrial gas stove with manual controls when this one dies or gets too expensive to repair.

My new bottom freezer refrigerator has more room than my previous side by side. The bottom freezer is a great feature and works very well for me. The shelves are adjustable. There is plenty of room in the doors. It has a meat drawer and humidity control vegetable bins. I was worried I wouldn't have enough room for my food but I am happy to report there is plenty of room. The freezer has the pullout shelves and automatic ice maker. It has a great appearance and takes less room than my previous side by side. We purchased the Induction Range Whirlpool Model WF1910H0AS0 almost 2 years ago and bought the extended warranty that was offered by A.J. Madison. We started having problems about 8 months after the purchase. We have had technicians out numerous times and they couldnt solve the problem of the cooktop part of the range locking and beeping when we use the oven. I have made several calls to Whirlpool and basically was told too bad. I see that there have been several complaints with the product and they have stopped making it. On one repair visit we were told that they were replacing a particular part because they were having so many problems with the heat blocker that goes under the glass top that they made it thicker and were hoping that this would solve the problem. It did not.The thing that really has sent me over the edge is that last night I was just boiling water and I heard a pop that came along with a smell (electrical burning smell) and the range blew a fuse and now the cooktop part just shows the deadly error F47. I am so disappointed in Whirlpool and their customer service and too bad attitude. You would think when you are spend almost $1800 for a range that it would not have problems so quickly and pretty much render useless in less than 2 years. Also shame on A.J. Madison for selling extended warranties through a company that has such a bad ratings with the Better Business Bureau. The only reason I gave 1 star is because you cant have no star.

I purchased a Whirlpool 3-door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom on 8/17/12. Within 4 days, the ice maker stopped working. It took two days for the repairman to come out and fix it. So all is well with that. Less than 2 weeks later, the refrigerator isnt cooling. Several days later, the repairman came and determined it was the evaporator fan motor and clutch. The parts were back-ordered for 10 days. Parts came in 2 more days before he can come out and install them. He realized they sent the wrong parts. Another week went by, then he came and replaced the fan motor, which is now making an ear-piercing buzzing sound. He came back a week later and said it needed a gasket, which is back-ordered. In the meantime, he put some stick on insulation around the unit. Not much help. Another week went by, and the gasket showed up. It is still making a high-pitched whining sound. He said it was the compressor. Whatever! I hate the refrigerator. The sound is one that just grates on your nerves and you can hear it in all the rooms surrounding the kitchen! A repairman has to deem it unrepairable before they will even consider replacing it. They consider it fixed. What about my bleeding ears! I just want it gone! I am so disappointed. I thought Whirlpool was a good product with a solid reputation. I have a $2300 noise maker! Is there a class action lawsuit?!

The knob on the Gas Cook top stove from Whirlpool (Part no: W10594481) is very poorly designed. It is very flimsy and breaks easily inside. Outside it still looks intact, but if you examine it on the reverse side, where it actually fits into the cooktops metal rod to turn the gas up or down, we can see it breaks there, as it is made of very cheap plastic. Although it is supposed to be a Stainless steel knob, it is actually all plastic where it matters most. I bought the new cook top from Whirlpool in 2014 and within a year have replaced all the knobs as they were breaking once every couple of months. I am still having this problem after 2 years now. I have contacted Whirlpool and have asked for a solution to this problem. I purchased a Whirlpool Washing Machine in November, 2015 and today, I had a repair person out who said the bearing had ruptured and the washing machine cannot be repaired - 2 1/2 years later. Contacted Whirlpool Customer Service who would do nothing other than try to explain to me that I should have purchased an extended warranty as they could not stand behind the machine past the one year. Would not even offer sending a tech out on their dime to confirm what my repairman had said that this is a failed production process of these machines - it was nothing that I had done caused this issue. But yet they wanted to sell me another machine. It will be a cold day before I purchase another Whirlpool product.I was shocked at the lack of customer service to assist with a situation that both the location I purchased it from and my own repair tech said that they are seeing so often with these machines. I would never purchase another item from Whirlpool again nor would I recommend any of their items. I will go to great lengths to give others the background on how Whirlpool will not stand behind their products, lack of customer service to resolve a situation or can work outside of what is given to them to correct a situation - this is not OK!

I purchased a Whirlpool French door refrigerator (model #WRF736SDAW12) with the bottom freezer last year. From the day it was delivered, its been broken. It was pouring so much water from the top panel, it would run over the top shelf and fill the shelves below. This was not a small drip. From the beginning, I was calling and requesting a new refrigerator this one was obviously defective. Whirlpool insisted on sending repairmen over and over and over again. I kept calling. I did not want this refrigerator. What if they finally fix the water problem and down the road, it has an electrical problem because of the amount of water it was internally leaking? Well, guess what? Not even twelve months in, theres an ELECTRICAL FIRE in the refrigerator! Thank goodness it was contained within a metal box within the fridge. It otherwise could have burned my house down. The refrigerator has finally been deemed irreparable. So for almost $300, Whirlpool will send a new refrigerator. Am I crazy? Theyre going to charge me more money? Its for depreciation, they said. Ive used the refrigerator for a year. I said it was broken when it was delivered. I requested a new one then. Theyre the ones who kept replacing parts. Now Im supposed to pay more money for a product that I paid full price for? I was told I have 14 days to accept their offer. We purchased Model WTW81920758200YW0 on September 8, 2012. Its performance has been unsatisfactory, not cleaning the clothes as advertised. Not long after the warranty expired the main bearing failed, bringing a local service technician and we were left with a bill of over $300.00. Yesterday, the machine stopped in mid-cycle. The display went blank and the lid lock would not release. I called a local service company for a visit and the soonest a repairman could show up was next week.A call to a service we had used for the bearing surmised that without knowing the cause of the failure they could only guess that a circuit board was at fault. That visit would be over $300.00 with labor and materials. That was the last straw. We broke the lid lock to retrieve the contents and took a ride to buy another brand of washer. We went back to the appliance store where we purchased this machine to buy a Samsung front loader. The salesman apologized for selling the Cabrio in the first place. Good money after a bad product.

Ive had my Whirlpool Refrigerator for 2 years. After pleading my case for a new fridge to their Customer Satisfaction Department and everyones supervisor therein, theyve offered to pay for the epoxy repair. Im very dissatisfied with this! I dont think that a $1300 fridge should be held together by glue after only 2 years. Ive been waiting for one of the drawers to be replaced for over 2 months. They claim that the crisper pan is out-of-stock and they have no information if it is in production. Im to call back in 2 weeks to find out the status of that part. I would like to add that my husband and I work 6 days a week and our adult children are rarely here, so this refrigerator is very lightly used. First, let me say we are so lucky and blessed to get home in time to prevent my home from burning. My Whirlpool range, model 4rf364pxk0, apparently decided to turn itself on (no one home) and grew hotter and hotter. It obviously burned out the thermostat because it was way hotter than cleaning mode. The key pad was melted and sagging inward the control panel warped, heat pouring from it. The racks and interior were glowing orange! My back splash tile blackened and cracked! The oven door locked! Oven hood ruined although it probably saved my cabinets! We hit the breaker! There was so much heat you could feel it on the outside of the exterior wall of the house 30 minutes later! The clean up to my kitchen has been horrible. Black soot and strange greasy film on everything and the stench has been toxic enough to give my husband a raw throat and myself a migraine! Oh and here is the ironic part - my husband was bringing me home from a hospital stay from high blood pressure! It would be almost comic if it wasnt so darn scary! Please, please address this issue before a more tragic story is posted! From looking at this site, it is obvious that there have been other incidence of your stoves turning themselves on and uncontrolled heat. I firmly believe another few minutes and our home would have been engulfed in flames. Now I will spend my weekend shopping for a new ceramic range, hood and tile!

3-4 years ago, I had replaced my hot water heater with a Whirlpool, which was purchased at Lowes. On 10/23/11, I awoke to a flooded basement from the said water heater. When I entered the basement, I was able to verify that the water was spraying right from the casing of the unit. Who knows how long it had been spraying, but the place was a complete mess. The water was about 10 inches deep and many things were ruined. I proceeded back to Lowes and purchased another exact unit. This morning I awoke to the sound of what seemed to be water bubbling, only to enter the basement and see exactly what I saw just three weeks previously... another flooded basement from water just pouring out the side of the unit. This is an obvious defect in craftsmanship. Now I find myself with a flooded basement, no hot water, and a decision to make. Do I fight for another replacement or give up on the brand? A replacement water heater will solve my lack of hot water but for now, the question is for how long? Not to mention the cost and time spent with the clean up I did twice.

I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator in January 2014. When it was delivered it had a dent in the left side door (the door with the controls and ice-maker). I reported the problem to Whirlpool and they told me that they would send a new door and would have a third-party technician install it. About a month later, February 2014, the door arrived, after calling the technician; he came out and attempted to install the door. The door would not fit! Called Whirlpool and they told me that the refrigerators were produced one at a time and that they would have to manufacture a new door. They promised the new door sometime in May. In the meantime, I have a damaged unit and I need to store this huge box for months. The refrigerator works fine to keep the food cool and the ice and water features work well. The ice-maker is a bit noisy but it only operates occasionally.

I am on my 3rd refrigerator from Whirlpool. The first one lasted 8 years, the second one lasted 6 years, and now the 3rd one has only lasted 4 years. This is just too much money to pay for a supposedly nice quality product and it go out as the warranty goes out. The second we had to replace the icemaker 3 times and a compressor. Now the 3rd is not cooling.

Does not get your clothes clean. They come out of washer smelling due to lack of water. Darks have Detergent Residue on them. My t-shirts have holes in them. Bought this machine in 2010. Just purchased a Whirlpool top load with a Agitator and I am very pleased with the results. We never had any problems with Whirlpool products but this Cabrio should be taken off the market, faulty advertising. Talked to a Whirlpool rep and she told me to bunch up clothes and place around outside edges of machine for best results but did not see any difference. Do not buy this washer. You will be wasting your money and you will be buying a old traditional washer, with an Agitator is your best bet so you can control the amount of water you use. I hope this helps one that is thinking of buying the new technology top load Cabrio with HE.

We purchased the Whirlpool model# BFG1J4040T3NOV 40 gallon natural gas hot water tank in the spring of 2010. The pilot light went out this weekend, 2011. And it will re-light but does not stay lit. This was bought at Lowes, rated as a 9-year warranty on the tank and parts. This is premature failure of a product that is listed as 9 years. Due to all the other similar complaints of this Whirlpool hot water tank, I would like my money back plus installation. I do not want the Whirlpool replacement as obviously it does not work. I will use a different brand and vet it much better in the future. We almost purchased at Home Depot but decided it would be a better bet to go with the Whirlpool reputation and name and Lowes than with the only Home Depot option, which is the self branded water heaters. It was a big mistake!

Whirlpool Gold Series - I bought this dishwasher less than 2.5 years ago. The thing already broke. The motor needs to be replaced at a cost of about $250. The thing never did a good job anyway and often had to run it more than once to get dishes clean. I paid about $650 for the machine so I guess its just a throw-away appliance. Whirlpool makes complete junk. I will buy a different brand that is known to have long-lasting dishwashers. I guess you get what you pay for.

I bought a Whirlpool model GI7FVCXWY00 over and under refrigerator directly from Whirlpool through DirectBuy on April 19, 2010. The unit was a relatively high-end model (over $2,000) that came with a 12-month warranty. Thirteen months after purchase and 1 month after warranty expiration, the ice maker stopped working flooding the kitchen in the process. We called Whirlpool who recommended one of their authorized maintenance subcontractors (GuinCo) to appraise the problem. GuinCo came out, diagnosed that a valve in the ice maker had gone bad and the repair cost us $364. We chalked that up to Murphys Law (repair needed immediately after warranty expiration). Not 4 months later, the kitchen comes up flooded again and again and the ice makers not working. We call GuinCo, the repairman come out and said this time that its a heater and ice maker defect which will cost $643 to repair. He also said that the unit has been designated as having a design defect. We held off on the repair until we could contact Whirlpool for some remediation since it has become obvious that the unit is a lemon. I called Whirlpool, laid out the problems, timelines and potential cost (ice maker failures are going to cost us almost half of what the entire refrigerator cost before the unit is a year and a half old) and the only response they had netted out to was: Sorry, you should have had extended warranty. This is a prime example of an American manufacturer, marketing an inferior product and offering the customer nothing when the lack of quality becomes obvious. I will recommend to anyone I know to stay as far away from Whirlpool products as long as I live.

Since my review I have been corresponding with Whirlpool Customer Service (Chris). First he sent me an email and mailed a replacement board to have us (the homeowner) install. Because the cover was so melted, the replacement board would not fit down into it. I emailed pictures to Chris. Once he saw the pictures, he called me and arranged for the water heater to be replaced since it was still under warranty. He even extended the authorization code so we would have plenty of time to arrange for a plumber to do the work. We had to pay for the plumber, but Whirlpool arranged for us to have a new water heater. Now I can sleep at night without worrying that my house would burn down if the old water heater caught fire. Chris was GREAT to work with. I had a direct number to him and called any time I had a question. I was very impressed with Whirlpools Customer Service.

I paid about $400 for this dishwasher and the regular price was over $600. Got a good deal. It washed dishes wonderfully. All I had to do was scrape the chunks off. It cleaned the rest. BUT... at a certain point, it started NOT cleaning. It was only about 6-7 months old. It was to the point where everything just came out kind of slimy and food grit was re-deposited on the dishes. I cleaned both filters. I made sure there was enough Rinse-Aid all the time. I ran hot water in the sink before starting to make sure the temp was hot enough. My husband went online and someone had instructions about cleaning the water intake because it could sometimes have sediment buildup. Not a difficult process, but there was no gunk in the intake filter. When I listened to a load it seemed like it drained, (most start with that), paused, rinsed for a couple minutes, paused, drained, paused and refilled for the wash cycle. So the pump worked, the arms went round and sprayed. Nothing was in the way of the arms. After it started the wash cycle, it seemed to just stall. It would spray for about a minute and then stop. Im not sure it sprayed after that. The timer kept counting down. It said dishes were clean, but it was an absolute waste of time. I was ready to go buy a cheap dishwasher and throw this one in the dumpster. I think it is a 720 padm??Just after my husband checked the water intake filter, we started another cycle. When it was rinsing, he opened it up and everything seemed to be working ok. It drained, then filled and started the washing cycle and then stopped. He opened it back up and surprise, the water was full on the front level by the float (that turns the water filling off). But in the back of the dishwasher, there was only about an 8th of an inch of water. Online it said the water should fill to just about the top of the heating element. It WASNT. Problem? It wasnt LEVEL. The instructions when installing said it should be leveled. We did when installing it (when it worked great). But looking back, we put in a new hardwood floor about the time it stopped working ok and we didnt put 2 and 2 together. We did not re-level. When we pushed the dishwasher back into its built in cabinet, it must have gotten OUT of level. The rinse part worked I guess. Then it drained and re-filled. After re-leveling the dishwasher, we opened the door at that point. The water was a level depth front to back and side to side. My husband explained what he thought had been the problem to me. When the wash cycle starts it fills, the float shuts off the water at the appropriate level. THEN... the dishwasher starts to pump and fill the arms and the tube up the back that feeds the upper washing arm. So much water goes into the arms and up that tube, the dishwasher looked almost empty of water again. As the dishwasher was now level, it began adding water to compensate for the arm/tube filling. Before the float would shut off too soon because the front part of the tub was full but the back wasnt. Without enough water, the dishes were NEVER going to/COULDNT get clean. The re-leveling made sure that the float didnt turn off the water filling until there was much more water, the CORRECT amount. The next load cycled all the way through, spraying much more than Id heard before and the dishes were clean. P.S. I also got some dishwasher cleaner and used that on a couple empty cycles. I NOW LOVE this dishwasher again. FYI If my husband wasnt handy Id have junked this thing. We HAD leveled the dishwasher when we installed it. Just didnt realize it COULD get un-level just pulling it in and out of the cabinet to install new floors. Check out all the troubleshooting stuff in the manual. But if it doesnt help, put a level inside across the bottom rack, front to back and side to side and make sure the bubble is in the middle of the two lines. The previous dishwasher I had, just made like a fountain of water that went up the middle of the dishwasher into a sort of funnel filling the upper arm. THIS one has that tube up the back and it curls down under the filter and Im guessing it is more sensitive to being OFF LEVEL, because the tube doesnt go straight down, it curls and lays across the bottom of the tub. Without being level, there was never enough water to suck up that tube to start the the actual wash cycle and it just stalled there till the timer said clean at the end. IE: dishes never did wash. BUT IT DOES NOW! Woohooooo!

Am posting in regards to a brand new dishwasher that I purchased the first part of February 2020 from Menards. The dishwasher I bought is Model # WDT730PAHB and Serial # F94519386. I had the dishwasher 10 days and it stopped working after running only two times. I checked the breaker box and all electrical connections to the machine and it was getting electricity, but would not turn on at all. I called the store to return it and they only have a 7 day return policy. Since then Whirlpool has been contacted and I have had two service calls from Whirlpool. The mother board has been replaced (which I waited two weeks for the part & five hours for a service man) and still it will not come on. Now I am waiting on a wire harness, ordered on March 4th or 5th and still not here. I completely understand wanting to fix a broken machine, however this was a new dishwasher that only worked for 2 washes. I have now been without a dishwasher for almost 2 months, which in light if our current world situation isnt a huge deal, however this is a time when sanitation is very important. I feel like Whirlpool should offer to replace my new machine with a new machine and not something that is refurbished. At this point it is costing more to repair this machine than to just replace it. Every time I call Whirlpool I get the line of we have to repair it. Give me a break. Take care of your customers!!?? #neverbuyawhirpoolproduct

Most dissatisfying experience with Whirlpool. In 2013 I bought a stackable Whirlpool washer and dryer. Everything worked well for two months, and then the washer started having problems. The washer memory board unit (MBU) needed to be replaced. This was done under warranty. One and half years later I started getting the error F07 which means an electrical problem. I called Whirlpool and they told me a technician would cost $85 for a service call. I delayed the call until today. The technician came, did a diagnostic and then advised me that I would need a new MBU. The cost plus labour amounts to almost the cost of a brand new washer. To add insult to injury, Whirlpool advised the service call would cost $89. (They upped the price since my last call.) You can imagine my shock when the technician told me that the $89 covers the first 15 minutes. I paid $133.34 for one half hour diagnostic testing and to be told I need a new MBU which is on back order for at least 6 months!!! My recommendation is - NEVER BUY any Whirlpool product ever.

We have owned the Whirlpool Quiet Partner II for about 2.5 years. We purchased this from our local Lowes store (on sale). For the first few months, everything was fine. Then, the dishwasher stopped completing a full cycle and left the dishes somewhat dirty. I found online that I could reset the controls by pressing heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal quickly. When the cycle starts, I press cancel and then set the cycle I want and it will do it correctly. I do this every time I wash the dishes since I dont know when it will decide to stop working (wasting water and soap to redo). Now, the dishes are not drying and water collects on the ceiling of the tub. I saw this after a smell was coming from the tub (like mold) and when I looked up at the top of the tub, I saw water droplets hanging there and mold forming around the sprayer and back of tub. I have to wipe the ceiling dry now or just run vinegar through it often. I cant see paying someone to come out since service calls start around $70 just to come to my home. I did look at reviews for the dishwasher before buying but I wished that I had seen this site first. I would not ever recommend this dishwasher to anyone!

I have a Cabrio washing machine and the circuit board has gone bad. I understand from Whirlpools customer service that if your machine was made before 2005, they are fixing the issue. Mine was made after 2006. Even though the problem is the same, Whirlpool will not correct the problem. I was told it was fixed in the new machines. The circuit board goes bad and you have to start and stop the machine at least three times before it will start your cycle, then it stops again at the 17 minute mark and you have to cancel and start the machine again for it to finish its cycle. The error is F1. Customer service acknowledged that this is a known problem for the Whirlpool machines built before 2005 but deny any claim that is is happening to the machines after 2005. Looking at all the other complaints, it is still a problem. I am disappointed in Whirlpool for their customer service attitude and for them not standing behind their product and fixing a known problem. I have always bought Whirlpool products but going forward will be switching to a better company. Shame on you Whirlpool. For a machine I spent $1000 on, the part is going to cost $300 to fix.

We purchased a new Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum W10405142B washer and dryer just over 3 years ago. We decided to go back to the top load as we were having so many issues with odor from our front load. We purchased the set at a Sears store in Timmins Ontario and we’re quite confident that we were getting an excellent product. From day 1 we have had issues with having to rewash our clothes. We have lint and white streaks on the clothes as if we were using powdered detergent and they are all tangled. We have always used HE liquid and at one point I switched to soap nuts to get rid of using chemicals. We have now changed to pods and still have issues. When the washer is spinning it is deafening. You can hear it outside for goodness sakes. It sounds like it is about to take off and fly.The cycles are ridiculously long. For a quick cycle the other day and a very small load it took 72 minutes... how is that quick? When the wash is done my clothes are all tangled up and are stretching things out of shape. I am careful what goes in my washer and how large my load is. I know not to wash sheets or towels when I am not home as they will eventually be unbalanced and have Sat all day in the washer only to have another hour of washing when I get home. We are currently doing some work in our home and pulled out the washer. The floor has a rust circle from God knows what. I will attach a picture. The lid not longer closes. I have to hold it down until it locks and it still pops up a wee bit.I do not understand why I am responsible for purchasing a new set when the product I bought should have lasted and not caused damage to my clothes or my flooring. How do we as consumers make the manufacturers responsible for things like this. If nothing else the appliances should be removed from my home by the Company and I should be reimbursed for damages and the cost of a new set. I will continue to look for my receipt as I keep everything and I am unsure what is meant by order #.

My wife and I were gifted a brand new washer (model: WTW7300DW0) and dryer set. We were very excited to try them out as we had just moved into our new home and had been without a W/D for about a week. We ran our first couple of loads and discovered that our clothing was, especially dark colors, covered in white stains. We didnt know what it was so, we did a little research and found out it was most likely soap residue. So, we reduced the amount of soap we were using... and it still happened. We tried every setting available on the touch screen... clothes still came out covered in soap. We eventually called Whirlpool and had a technician come check it out. He ran his tests, said everything was fine, and to use only a teaspoon of soap for every full load of laundry. This didnt sound right to me but we tried it out... stains... still... and I noticed our whites were not getting cleaned very well at all. Sweat stains from undergarments were hardly touched during the wash cycle. After several more phone calls to Whirlpool, were having another technician come out. I just want Whirlpool to take this POS off of our hands and exchange it for something that works. A washing machine that actually washes would be nice.

Now again ice maker not working again and only been about 9 months from the last replacement. I think there should be a Lemon law on these products. These refrigerator are not cheap and if I buy something new and spend a good amount of money for, I don’t want any headache and worries. That’s the reason for getting a new one.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WTW7800XW2 - After buying my American made washer..
Whirlpool Cabrio Washer WTW7800XW2 - After buying my American made washer..... at nearly $900 with extended warranty about 2 years ago. This week noticed small cracks in plastic that surrounds and holds glass lid. Now lid will not sit flat and glass is emerging from encasement. Called extended warranty claim center and was told it was a cosmetic issue. Called Whirlpool, and was told they were unaware of this flaw, even though countless websites, chat sites, and Youtube. My frustration is how they claim to be unaware of this flaw and refusal address it, after countless consumers have called. I would be willing to start a class action on this matter!
