Purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer 5 years ago because our other washer died after coming home from vacation. Its just 2 people in this household so I dont do mountains of laundry. The other machine lasted 15 years so go figure. We purchased the Cabrio from Lowes. Got the extended warranty but as it goes the machine fails when all warranties expires. Over the last couple of weeks this machine started to not complete a wash cycle. All lights go off except for spin light and machine stops. Even asked the person in charge of washers and dryers at Lowes about this who then told me to get an extension cord and plug it into a different outlet. Seriously! I have had to unplug the machine after it fails to complete cycle, wait 5 minutes or so, plug it back in, select rinse and spin, it fails again 13 minutes left in cycle, unplug again, plug it back in, select drain and spin, wait for it to MAYBE complete that cycle. Do not purchase this type of machine. Just for a technician to come look at it is $100 or more and to replace whatever circuit board is probably another $300 or more. Screw that! Going to find a good old fashion one if possible. Piece of junk. Not going to spend $700 or $1000 just to wash clothes for 2 people.

FRUSTRATION!!! It is unbelievable that even appliances have become DISPOSABLE! Where are the days of when our parents bought well made appliances that LASTED 20 years with NO problems??? There was satisfaction knowing that a purchase of an appliance was $$ well spent! These days it costs MORE to replace parts than IF you purchased a brand new machine! We purchased BRAND NEW Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer AND dryer in 2007. The washer has been repaired a total of 5 times and the dryer 3 times!!! IN A SPAN OF 10 YEARS! Are you serious?! With the $$ spent on warranties/ labor/ parts: WE could have purchased new appliances. What is WRONG with this picture? IT IS ALL about making money on REPLACING PARTS/WARRANTIES/LABOR!!! Forget the consumer that is spending THEIR hard earned money to buy the appliances initially. Short of going to a laundromat, the consumer needs to purchase a washer & dryer. So I guess it is a vicious cycle of REPAIRS/REPAIRS AND MORE REPAIRS!!!

I bought a Whirlpool dishwasher from lowest in May of 2011 and it stopped draining, serial # f11601686. I was told it was under warranty and you sent someone out. But surprise, I got a $129 service bill and it couldnt be fixed, computer board gone and drain motor shot. I was told its cheaper to buy a new one. After 10 months of use, we need a new one. I think you should replace my dishwasher and pay for a service call. Oh, the reason they said it wasnt covered is because they sold me a 2007 model.

A couple of years ago, we had 2 natural gas hot water heaters installed. We immediately had a service call to replace the thermostat on one of them. Then recently, the other one had to be replaced because of the leaky tank. It was still in warranty, and we had to pay $425 for the old one to be removed and the new one installed. Now, this one has a bad thermostat and the A & E Factory Service is coming tomorrow to install the new thermostat. We have been inconvenienced by this for a couple of weeks as we have no hot water in the master bath. We were just lucky that we had one hot water heater working in the other part of the house. I think that Whirlpool should have paid the $425 for the installation as the original hot water heater was in warranty. Now, I hope that tomorrows visit will be covered by the warranty. Next time we need an appliance, we will not be purchasing a Whirlpool.

16 months after purchase, the machine starts displaying F71 codes, 6 weeks later F70. After calling Whirlpool customer service number on the User Manual, we were told that the washer was out of warranty and there was nothing that Whirlpool was going to do for us. I have a reasonable expectation that a brand new $800 washing machine will operate for many, many, trouble free years, but finding an electronic failure that has been estimated at $400 to repair, 16 months after purchase, is simply and obviously unacceptable. This is clearly a defect in design and/or manufacturing.

Purchased a new Jenn-Air JCD2295KES in 2007 when we remodeled our Kitchen.
Purchased a new Jenn-Air JCD2295KES in 2007 when we remodeled our Kitchen. Its been a decent fridge. When it quit a couple of weeks ago, I had the repairman come. He informed me that the HV circuit board was bad and sorry but they dont make them anymore. What, a 7yr. old fridge and thats it? I sort of expect things to have to be repaired or maintained but to have to throw it away because Whirlpool chose not to carry the parts any longer. I decided to scour the net and see if I could find this legendary board. Lot of places seemed to have carried it but could no longer get it from Whirlpool. I found a place that could supposedly repair them but after a few days, they called and said the microprocessor was not repairable.I contacted Whirlpool and they gave me a place that does obsolete parts and although helpful, I thought they were real opportunists and wanted to charge me considerably more for a reconditioned board that a new one would have cost if I could find one. I kept looking on the internet to no avail and when I called Whirlpool again I was getting pretty upset. Here I am with a 7-year old refrigerator and cant get parts for it, thats just not right. They were pleasant but basically their stand was sorry, theres nothing we can do. I told them that I bought a lot of appliances as I have quite a few rental properties. I cant throw an appliance away just because I cant get a part. It just doesnt make sense. I feel Whirlpool/Jenn-Air simply doesnt care. Im not interested in their excuses, I just want parts. I dont think it is unreasonable to expect to be able to obtain parts for at least a dozen years or maybe even a little more.I posed the question to them. Would you buy a $2000 refrigerator if you knew it would only run 7 years? The customer rep. said no she wouldnt. Well, Whirlpool, neither will I. I was unimpressed with their lackluster response and offer of a $300 rebate on a new fridge. I can find better deals than that on my own. I have purchased many appliance and always actually liked the Whirlpool line but Ill not buy any of them again. Shame on you Whirlpool for letting your customers down. Just because you can ignore me, doesnt mean you should. Im in business and I would go to the ends of the earth for a customer to make them happy. No wonder the Asian companies are kicking butt on the so-called American manufacturers. If your not going to get service you might as well go for the cheap price. On a final note, I did after two weeks of searching find a board hidden in a little appliance repair shop in Colorado. It should arrive here tomorrow and was priced $150 less than the reconditioned board that the gougers Whirlpool recommended. I believe it is the last board on the planet. Hopefully it will get my fridge another 7 years down the road and by then Whirlpool and its subsidiaries will have been sucked up by foreign companies and under a different label.

We bought this Whirlpool washer dryer set last year and extended warranty.
We bought this Whirlpool washer dryer set last year and extended warranty. 7 weeks ago the washer stopped working. I have spent around 60 hours so far trying to get the washer fixed. Have talked to the repair shop as well customer care up and down the chain. 5 visits so far by technicians and still not fixed. Customer care people promise to call back w/update but never do. We were going to buy LG but bought this to give business to an American company. Now our patriotism is bearing fruit. Customer care blames AIG (service contractor) and Whirlpool say that they can’t manage AIG. At the end of our rope with constant trips to laundromats. Have no idea if it will ever be fixed. So frustrating to see the name of Whirlpool tarnished to this extent. Nobody seems to be in charge and everybody passes the buck. Whirlpool is a shameful example of a company that deserves to go out of business.

By the way, I do have a warranty on this product (which hasnt seem to have helped at all). I have never had such poor customer service in my life as I have had from Sears and can assure you, I will never buy another product from Sears or Whirlpool considering the experience I have had. I have missed numerous days at work only to wait for a repair appointment that never happened. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and would not recommend anyone to buy from Sears or Whirlpool.

On 12/27/2013 I bought a Whirlpool hot water heater from Lowes Model NU50T122-403. On 12-13-2015 the pilot went out. When I called tech support on 12-14-2015 they gave number what were call centers or person who returned the calls. So I called a local plumber that I used before. He came out and told me that had to replace the pilot. On the 16th 2015 of Dec. that did not work and told us the heater needed to be replaced. The replacement will happen today I hope with little to no help from Whirlpool. I would advise you to do your homework before you buy a Whirlpool hot water heater.

Model no. WTW4950XW is a piece of pure junk. Bought this machine 2yrs, 4 months ago. I just replaced it and to be sure not with another Whirlpool. The machine went out. Just quit. Nothing on control panel (computer). Didnt call for service tech as this machine has been crap since I bought it. Tried to return it but couldnt after I first used it. It would only give hot water on 2 cycles and that was on bulk or delicate. The regular cycle would only give warm but actually it was cold. Not enough water for 6 pieces of small clothes on regular. More water on delicate. Didnt wash very well. Clothes were not really as clean as they should have been. I used to only buy Whirlpool appliances but have now switched. They are bilking the consumer with subpar machines.

I purchased a Whirlpool Microwave on 9/21/10 from Hamilton-Bryan in Wichita Falls, Texas. I had a small fire in my microwave on 9/19/11, due to a faulty mica board. This was replaced by Mr. Bobs in Wichita Falls, TX, under the warranty. Then on 1/9/12, the microwave would not warm anything. I called Mr. Bobs again, and they said the transformer was out. I called Whirlpool, and was told by Yvonne that Whirlpool would replace the part only, with no labor, but Mr. Bobs was closed, and to call back in the morning, so this authorization could be set up with Mr. Bobs. I called back and there was no record of my call with Yvonne. I talked to a supervisor Rachel in Tennessee. She put me on hold for a while and finally said she found Yvonnes note to authorize the part. I explained to each person I talked to that I was dissatisfied with Whirlpool. I believe I have a defective microwave. I would like my money back, or a new microwave. I believe the defective mica board is related to the defective transformer. I am a very dissatisfied customer. I have used Whirlpool most of my adult life. I have used them since the 1970s. I currently have a Whirlpool refrigerator, washer, and dryer. A similar situation like this occurred when I bought a Samsung washer. I was dissatisfied, and Samsung refunded my money, and I bought a Whirlpool washer to replace Samsung. I will not be satisfied with this situation, until the microwave is replaced. Thank you for your concern and attention to this matter.

I bought my home four years ago with a Whirlpool 50-gallon water heater in it. It was installed in December 2002. Well, my hot water went out. After being told I could go to Lowe’s because they would supply the part free of charge because there was a recall on the thermocouple unit. I went to Lowes. No luck there. They told me they didnt carry the whole replacement unit and I would need a number from Whirlpool. The guy at Lowes was very nice but said I was the fifth person to come in this week.I called Whirlpool and was told because I was not the homeowner that had purchased the item that there was no warranty on the product and that I would have to pay for the part. It cost $34.98 plus shipping, which was another $30.00 because I had it shipped overnight. Two days with no hot water was enough. Well, I got the part and hopefully there is nothing wrong with it as it was shipped in a box twice as big as needed with no packing what so ever.I just got off the phone with them again but this time spoke with a supervisor that told me there was no need for packing. There was no part of the entire assembly that could have been damaged. Will I ever buy anything with the Whirlpool name on it? Not only no, but ** no! Will I tell everyone I know about this? You bet. I am also going to write to Lowes and ask why they are continuing to sell inferior appliances such as these. I have to tell one realtor friend about this and just placed a call to another to tell him. The first had no idea that appliances that were marked still under warranty did in fact have no warranty at all if its a Whirlpool. I may write a letter to the editor of our local newspaper and hope that they will publish it to inform anyone reading the paper about these inferior products.

As I write this, I am on my 5th service call in four months of ownership. The machine runs short cycles and requires us to not only do an extra rinse, each load requires an additional Quick Wash (with extra rinse) to get the detergent out. We use so little detergent that a 75 fl. oz. bottle has lasted four months with over 50% left. The techs Whirlpool sends are great. The call center first level people are fabulous. The supervisor is not helpful proclaiming that it was fixed. However, we still have to re-run the clothes every time.

Purchased a Whirlpool double oven (WGE745COFH) in September 2018. It is now May 2019. After 5 service technicians verified the erratic temperature fluctuations in the ovens, Whirlpool insists that a +25 degree to -25 degree fluctuation in a heating cycle is normal. The motherboard was changed 3 times, and the sensors were changed 3 times, including hard-wiring the last set of sensors. I called Whirlpool and customer service says that is normal. Ever tried baking at a 350 degree setting that fluctuates from 375 degrees down to 312 degrees while trying to maintain a 350 degree setting? I understand there has to be some fluctuation, but either it took a lot of extra time or burned my food consistently. Ridiculous. So, with the help of wonderful people at Lowes (where I purchased the double oven) Whirlpool is refunding my money and Lowes has taken back the slide-in double oven. In my quest to replace it, multiple appliance sellers have told me that all the new ovens having motherboards and sensors have big fluctuations in the oven heating cycles. I find that unacceptable. My husband and other family members have worked daily in an industry where temperatures were critical. They used ovens that could maintain temperature within 5 degrees of set temperature with analog controls. The home consumers are being ripped off with cheap, sub-standard parts making throw away appliances and getting away with it. What do I buy? Havent figured that out yet, but have purchased a countertop toaster oven that bakes beautifully.

I bought my topload washer 2 years ago along with a dryer. The past month, the washer started sounding like an airplane, ready to take off, whenever the spin cycle was on. Then, it started to not start at all on certain cycles or would start to pump water in and then stop suddenly. I had a repair man in today, and it was not good news. He told me that he sees this a lot, especially with the Whirlpool washers and it is costly. The bearings are shot and will cost close to $500 for parts (alone), not costing the price to have it repaired. So now, I have called Whirlpool. The people there are very friendly and sympathetic. But even though I went as high as the supervisor (the highest authority I could speak to), he told me my washer is not on the recall list! I asked what it took to get it on one. Basically, my complaint was filed and end of story. Well, not quite. The supervisor was kind enough to give me the address for the Head Office for Whirlpool Canada. So people, start writing into this address and bombard them with your frustration: Whirlpool Executive Office, 200-6750 Century Avenue, Mississippi, Ontario L5N 0B7. If you have spoken to Whirlpool, ask for your reference number pertaining to your case and include it in your letter along with your phone number. In the meantime, I will be writing a lengthy letter; and I also went out today and bought another washer! Yes, it was not a Whirlpool, and I will never have another Whirlpool appliance in my home. And I will steer anyone away from this brand name. Good luck to all and start writing!

Our washing machine - as part of a stackable set - is two weeks beyond the one year warranty. Washer breaks down, I order the replacement part to find out - after waiting two months for the part - that the washer is now being discontinued so the ETA on the part is NEVER. Or I can purchase a new washing machine at more than the original cost of the stackable set. This is a totally unacceptable situation. The washer is just out of the one year warranty period and it is already being discontinued??? Is Whirlpool making disposable appliances now so that after the one year warranty we just toss the appliance in landfill? Really? I have had a terrible experience with fridge Whirlpool. Two fridges have been delivered to me in bad condition. The first one was aesthetically awful (looked old and used) and the freezer didnt work so it was exchanged. The second one works and it looks ok but it makes very loud noises all day every day. I live in an open concept condo and this fridge sounds like a train for more than an hour more than 5 times a day, it is terrible. I have been calling customer support for a solution and first of all, there are no technicians in my area, and since the fridge works as designed there is nothing to fix so Im stuck with a terrible noisy fridge that I hate and destroys my day which I paid a lot of money for thinking that the brand meant quality but it doesnt. Customer support doesnt respect the customer and their answer that the first works as designed makes me understand that Whirpool designs bad quality fridges. I have never heard a fridge making these noises, not even brands that are less named than Whirlpool. For your inner peace, I recommend you to stay away from Whirlpool-Maytag fridges... If the fridge is in bad condition (but working) youre going to be stuck with it. The brand doesnt really mean quality and support... it just means more expensive.

This morning I was giving my kids cereal and poured milk into one of their bowls. After they tasted it the milk was spoiled. Yes spoiled. I was so mad I called Whirlpool and the fastest they can send a repair man out to my home is next week. Really? I said what about my food and my kids? They said its not their problem! I tell you they are so nice and friendly. They really care about their customers! Yea Right!!

My wife and I have had a Whirlpool Gold 5.8 cu ft gas range for just 5 months and have already begun to have intermittent trouble with it. She can use the oven to bake cookies in the afternoon and then try to bake dinner a couple of hours later and the oven will not preheat no matter how long she waits!! This has happened three times now and we are waiting for a service technician to come out.. Pretty sad when you buy a top of the line appliance and begin to have trouble so soon.

It works ok and fits in a tight spot. However, the top shelf will suddenly start to freeze the food and after a day or two it will stop. The fridge makes terrible loud banging noises. Were told it is the coolant but it is extremely annoying. A repairman moved the line closer to a heating and it doesnt bang as much. Because of this, I would not buy a Whirlpool fridge again.

At some point, Whirlpool should accept the fact that they should not sell this machine. Word of mouth spreads fast! Im hoping it will make a big dent in sales because I know then they will listen and act! I purchased it in 2006 for $800, thinking this Cabrio 6400SW is a dream, I can get more done in less time (at that time, there were seven in our family). However, problems within the first year, F1, but I was happy and still under warranty! It was fixed, only to start the problem again. This time, not under warranty! I really wish I had said yes to the extended warranty! Even the repair guy Whirlpool sent suggested it may be a good thing to get the extended warranty if I were you! I think he was trying to tell me something! My naive thought was, why spend more money we did not have? After all, it is a new machine! I did not comprehend that any company could sell and continue to sell something that was clearly a defective machine! Nor did I entertain the thought that a company would not stand behind their product! It is now 2012, I still have the machine because we have dealt with it and have/had no extra money to throw out at it. I have dealt with F1 for several years and did not contact Whirlpool, mostly out of lack of time to research what the deal was and if others were experiencing the same. In November 2011, after reading many complaints and frustrations on the internet and what results they got, I called Whirlpool. Using a level head, sugar sweet persona and a mindset of disbelief that Whirlpool would allow such problems, the customer service girl did her best with what she was told to reply with (meaning, there is nothing she can do). It is then that you ask to speak with a manager or director. I won in getting a repair guy out to fix the F1. They made it sound like they were doing me a onetime favor. The machine board was replaced, the repair person also thought there was an obstruction in the hose and he could fix it, but it would cost us money and suggested we try our hand at it first. We did find an obstruction and for one week, the machine was quietly working beautifully! Whirlpool even called to see about how it was working and my husband had answered that everything works well, not knowing that Ld is our new problem. Ld had started to pop up at the end of that week.So here it is July and Im so frustrated trying to get wash done. Im thinking of all the wasted time, all the wasted electricity and energy Ive spent trying to get this machine to work! My kids are trained to hit stop/pause if they hear it beeping. Some days we cant even get the clothes to spin dry. I try different cycles to get the machine to start and often have to cancel the cycle and change it to another cycle to get the machine to continue. Is there a smell? Yes, and I run the clean washer cycle twice in a row just about every other week now. That doesnt even seem to clean the washer anymore! Tangled clothes sometimes. Ld always, uL sometimes and a sound like it is trying to do something but is stuck. Lots of laundry to do! No money to fix it! Whirlpool needs to stop selling an inferior machine! I know one thing. Never Whirlpool again and I tell everyone not to go with Whirlpool Cabrio. Even one of my co-workers had one and bought a new washer (not Whirlpool) because of problems with her Cabrio only after three years! Do not purchase a Cabrio!

We purchased this Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine from Sears about four, maybe five years ago and have complained repeatedly. We have had repairmen out numerous times. Of course, they have had to order parts. My clothes are not getting clean and they now have an odor to them. The machine is getting noisier and noisier and it is rocking like crazy (I had to put plyboard underneath to protect the floor) during the rinse cycle. The water sprays out erratically and sprays even slower for cold water, then warm water, which was weird! Thankfully, I still have it under warranty (I got the extended warranty). I am now getting ready to call them again. I will never buy this brand again.

My Side-by-Side Whirlpool fridge which I bought very expensive in Colombia
My Side-by-Side Whirlpool fridge which I bought very expensive in Colombia one year ago had the glass shelves totally cloudy and foggy. You could hardly see what was inside. 8 technicians were sent through the authorized center to meet warranties to check the fridge. The first 7 technicians(!) did not have a clue of what the problem was. After many calls, they sent a supervisor who discovered the problem and finally, after 10 months of this battle, they changed the fridge for a new one. But guess what?! I received the new fridge 2 weeks ago and the new one has exactly the same problem. I am very disappointed and I do not know what to do at this point. Going through the same process again makes me sick but losing my money and all the time invested in this product makes me furious. Is there any way that Whirlpool can help me through this forum?

We bought a Whirlpool microwave model # GH7208XRY4 at the Habitat For Humanity store. It was brand new still in the unopened box with the warranty card in the box. The box was undamaged and in perfect shape. We loved this microwave until six months later, it started to throw a code F6 and wouldnt work - it wouldnt turn on or off and we couldnt use it at all. Since this is an under the cabinet model, it was a little hard to uninstall it as its a built-in. I called the customer service center and they dont cover it because the ordinal purchase date was 2012, we bought it in Oct 2014. I guess someone bought it in 2012. They say that since the ordinal purchase date was 2012, they dont warranty. They also said because I had bought it from the ReStore, it was a donated item and would cover it. I told them the box was unopened and it worked for several months, so their stand was it might have been damaged when I bought it. Again I told them it worked for 6 months, so how could it have been damaged when I bought it? They were very unhelpful.

My husband and I purchased a Whirlpool over the range microwave in 2005, model number MIX155XHPT-1 and serial number TR S 30 32419. At first the top vent broke then the opening side broke off. In June 2010 my wife and I bought a new Whirlpool water heater (model ee2h50rd045v). As I have fairly extensive experience in both the electrical and plumbing areas (was head lab technician for an aquatics lab for 7 years and worked with maintenance on a farm for 10 years), I installed the unit myself. Two months later the motherboard fried. Whirlpool sent me a replacement and all was fine. Six months after this the motherboard fried and set the unit on fire. Luckily I was home and caught it before it got out of hand and the circuit breaker had tripped when this happened (the circuit breaker saved the house). After I had ripped the smoldering unit out of the garage I immediately called Whirlpools Customer Hotline and told them what happened. They said they would send me replacement parts. I reminded them that the motherboard had fried once before and that this time the unit had almost cost me the house. I also informed them that I have now worked for Lowes for 4 years and I am responsible for selling their product (in addition to other brands). The lady stated all they could do was send me new parts and the problem probably was with my circuit breaker. I informed her the circuit breaker was tripped so the problem was not there. She reiterated that all they could do was send new parts. The next day I started to remove the control panel and motherboard to find that the plastic had fused itself to the frame and insulation. I called the customer hotline and spoke to someone new and informed them about the new problem with the melted plastic. I was told that the melted plastic could be scrapped off safely and that since the problem was not the circuit breaker, the problem must have been how the wires had been spliced from my conduit into the water heater. The gentleman then proceeded to tell me how to do it in violation of Maryland code and told me he would have replacement parts sent to me. I checked with a certified electrician to make sure my wire splice had been done in accordance with code and he verified I was correct.I then had a Department Manager call Whirlpool. He was given the same runaround and told the parts would be mailed to me. He was also given the story about how the malfunction was due to the wire splice being too tight. He then asked to speak to the representatives supervisor and she told him she would not transfer him over to her supervisor. I have forgotten to mention that 2 months prior to this, a Whirlpool water heater (same model) had been returned to my Lowes store within the 30-day purchase window. The unit had caught fire. Since I had had problems with my unit motherboard at this point, I took that unit apart to see what had caused it. The problem started with the motherboard in that unit also. This is unacceptable. Whirlpool obviously has product quality issues.Sometimes bad units are put out. This happens with every brand. But when the same model has such a high failure rate and is known to catch fire, Whirlpools actions are inexcusable. Currently my refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and obviously the water heater are Whirlpools. I will not replace either of these units with a Whirlpool when they reach the end of their operational periods. Also in the future when customers ask me about Whirlpool appliances, I will be sure to tell them just how great Whirlpool is, how reliable they are, how great their customer service is and then quickly usher them over to Samsung, Frigidaire and Electrolux appliances. The department manager that had called Whirlpool for me has shared similar sentiments about future customer recommendations.

Purchased above refrigerator (WRF736SDAM13) over a year ago and it has been nothing but trouble. Ive had service companies out 6 different times. The doors never lined up or closed properly from day one. The final and last attempt to fix was putting caulk in the seal of the doors!! Left door does not seal properly and moisture builds up on inside. I requested several times for a new one and Whirlpool refused. Also purchased microwave, stove and dishwasher. Microwave went out 6 months after using it. They had to replace a major part. At least they did this at no charge. Just the hassle of having to be home 2 times to meet service tech. WILL NEVER purchase Whirlpool appliances again. Ive been using them for in all my homes in the past. STAY AWAY from this model.

I purchased a range top from Lowes and a month and half my burners go out. I call Whirlpool and a service technician came out. Said that he cant repair the stove because a bug had burned out the burners and he cant repair the stove. I call Whirlpool and they told me that voids my warranty with them even though my stove is not even two months old that will not repair it and I will have to pay for it to be repaired. I asked Lowes and they told me that they only take back big appliances back before 30 days. Now I am stuck with a stove that I paid 700.00 for that does not work and I have 4 children to feed. I am sickened on how Whirlpool can do this to a hard working family that just wants a good stove. I hope this helps another hard working family. Do your research before buying from Whirlpool. I wish I would have.

We bought the Gold Series Whirlpool fridge (Model WRF990SLAM00) in December
We bought the Gold Series Whirlpool fridge (Model WRF990SLAM00) in December 2013. A few months after its first repair, (dripping on the top left inside of the fridge), which happened within the first year and was covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, it started to make an incredibly loud whirring sound that kept us up at night. Our bedroom is upstairs and far away from our kitchen, and I had to sleep with earplugs to not hear the noise. We tested the noise on a decibel app and it came in between 66-70. A normal fridge noise level should be around 52 decibels. We had a repairman come out and he replaced a fan even though he told me it wasnt going to fix the problem. Wait, what? After he replaced the fan and the whir continued, we called Lowes extended warranty again, and they sent out a different company: 1-800-Appliance.The second guy replaced two kits and found some issue with the ice maker, which we were not even aware of, but the noise remained, and he then had the gall to say it was a normal noise. If it was normal, wouldnt it have been making that noise the first year we had it? We had 1-800-Appliance come out again and he determined he couldnt fix it, so Lowes sent another guy from the same company, and he replaced the same fan that the first guy replaced, which was clearly not the problem. Three perfectly good fans were wasted. BTW, the repairman who said the noise was normal told us that the fridge had a part that was made to be replaced after purchase because if Whirlpool had the part at the point of sale, the fridge would not meet the Energy Star standards. Hello, lawsuit! After three repairs for the same problem and five visits that did not fix the problem, we were told Lowes would issue us a return order in three days. Finally! Not so fast... one week later, no one called, so I called them and then Lowes denied having told us that! We gave them the name of the person who told us they would take the fridge back, but the woman on the other end said she had no record of that (how convenient) and, despite the California lemon law requiring only three attempts at a repair, they would require yet another attempt by one of their repairmen. She told me that if he determined the noise was abnormally loud and not repairable, then she could contact the manufacturer and go from there. So they sent a guy from the first company out and he wrote down that the fridge was not repairable and was very noisy. He said that should take the fridge back at that point. My husband called Lowes several days later after not being contacted by them and they told him that they need to send a different repairman out from 1-800-Appliance and that only 1-800-Appliance could determine if we could get a refund. If that was true, then why send the other company out? By the way, the second guy sent out by 1-800-Appliance wrote down that the noise was very loud and wasnt fixed by his repair. But the notes Lowes said they received from him didnt say that at all. They told me that he wrote that the noise level was normal. I am starting to think there is collusion between Lowes and 1-800-Appliance. Something very wrong here. So, six visits later and horrible customer service from both Lowes and 1-800-appliance, we are now being told that the repairs need to be 30 days apart from each other before they will issue a return. If the cause of the noise was never actually repaired, then why do we have to wait a month between repairs? We continue to jump through the hoops that Lowes keeps throwing our way, but it is now clear that they have no intention of taking the fridge back. The fridge is less than two years old, and we have the extended warranty. We couldnt take the noise any further because it felt like it was causing hearing loss and after several months of that horrible sound we were both on edge, so we bought an amazingly quiet fridge from Pacific Sales, and they assured us that they would not do to us what Lowes did. Pacific Sales pride themselves with having good customer service. Lowes seems to have taken delight in lying to us, selling us a lemon, and then not righting a wrong. We have moved the loud piece of ** into our garage, and if Lowes continues to change the rules of a return and act in collusion with 1-800-appliance, probably in hopes that we will simply throw in the towel, then at least we dont have to hear that horrible sound in the meantime. If they dont do the right thing and take back the fridge, then we will simply keep calling out a repairman to fix the problem. We have three more years of our warranty, and if Lowes doesnt do the right thing, we will make them pay for this one way or another. Viva la revolucion!!

It has not worked properly since day 1. The clothes come out dripping wet. At first I thought I was doing something wrong. I tried every cycle, limited amount of clothing and ran additional spin cycles to no avail. Finally I gave up and called for service.Whirlpool is very much aware that a number of their machines came off the line with defective spin bearings but they wont admit to it. Instead I am expected to have it repaired! It involves the entire inside of the machine being rebuilt. Its a 2 man job that will take 3-4 hours. This is totally unacceptable and it is obvious Whirlpool does not make a quality product nor do they value customer satisfaction. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE A WHIRLPOOL WASHER. They are difficult to work with and I for one will never purchase or recommend any of their products. We our adding our name to a list that is remarkably long. We purchased a top loading Cabrio washing machine just over a year ago and the problems with the balancing of the unit are the same as everyone else who has written in. The service company A&E has promised a lot but has done little to resolve the issues we have had with the machine. One representative told us that she would order the part and have it sent to our home. When the part did not arrive, we called A&E back only to find out it was never ordered because the service technician would not return their phone calls. I find this excuse ridiculous and similar to other false statements they have given us on the other four phone calls made to address the problem. After reading these reviews, we realize that this is only the beginning of what will be a frustrating and costly experience. Never again will we buy a Whirlpool!

I purchased a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side Refrigerator on June 15, 2013. The freezer works fine but the refrigerator does not feel that cold and when I put a thermometer in there, it reads 42-43 deg although the refrigerator is set at 37 deg. The tech was just here and told me to put a thermometer in a glass of water and read it again. His thermometer read 46 deg when reading a bottle in the door although he explained that he had had the door opened for a while during his visit. He said his reading of the bottle upon opening the door was 36 deg. I do not believe that. I just measured some bottled water temperature and it was 48 deg. I have a hard time believing the temp went up 12 degrees and he has been gone for a half hour. My food is cold but not like you expect from a refrigerator. My bottled water and soda, etc., are not very cold. The worst is the water dispenser. That water is barely cooler than tap water. There is almost no difference. The water temperature has been in the 60s when Ive measured it. The tech says the first glass wont be cold (have never had that with any other refrigerator) but even if you get the second and third glasses of water, they arent any colder... maybe a couple of degrees. If anyone else is having this problem and Whirlpool will do nothing, then Im interested in legal action.

We bought a house almost 10 years ago and it included a Maytag washer and dryer. About 5 years ago, we decided to buy the Whirlpool front loaders. What a mistake as the washer shook every time it ran. After several warranty service calls and days of vacation waiting for the service, they finally said they couldnt do anything. During that time I had been in contact with Whirlpool and asked for them to take them back. Of course they wouldnt. I asked for a swap for top load washer and they would need to also replace the dryer to match: still no deal. It took a letter from a lawyer to make it happen. They also bought back the washer and dryer stands which covered the lawyers costs. So shortly after I received the Cabrio washer and matching dryer, the lid is very heavy which I believe the lid spring broke. I refused to call the service company as I did not want to go thru that crap again. I also know I can fix it myself easier and without all the drama. I keep waiting for another failure but so far all is acceptable. Whirlpool is not the same company as they were when I made my living doing warranty service for Whirlpool! 30 years ago they were the best in the industry. The Maytag pair was giving to our relative and they are still working flawlessly. Unfortunately Whirlpool now owns Maytag. This experience has cost Whirlpool replacing our kitchen appliances. As much as I want to buy American, I will go with Bosch or LG only.

We bought a dishwasher, stove and refrigerator last month. Dishwasher and stove work great, however the refrigerator is junk! The freezer part works great, but the refrigerator doesnt cool at all. The first time he was here the repair man said the seal on the door was bad and he glued it. He told us to not open the door for 48 hours then everything would be fine. IT WASNT. A week and a half later he came back. He looked inside, scratched his head and told us, “This model should have the “deluxe” fan and I dont think it does!” Said he would be back in 6 days with the fan and well “see if that fixes it”.I called Whirlpool service waited on hold for an hour before getting cut off. Called back waited 35 more minutes but actually got to speak to someone. The big solution... They offered me a 6 month extended warranty!!! Ive lost an entire refrigerator full of food. Missed two days of work and am going to miss another when he brings the “deluxe” fan. Also been eating out all month and probably spent $100 buying ice. IE... MOST EXPENSIVE REFRIGERATOR EVER!!!

Bought a Whirlpool Gold model GI6SARXXF04 less than two years ago and have already had three problems. The first was a faulty main water inlet hose that dumped water all over the kitchen floor. It was still under warranty so I didnt have to pay for it. Now have two additional problems. About two months ago there was a puddle of water under the refrigerator every few days. I finally figured out it was ice build up in the bottom freezer chest that melted that caused the water leak. The second issue is that the ice maker just stopped working. It had been working great this whole time and then suddenly it just stopped making ice. I contacted Whirlpool and they will cover the repair for the defrost issue but not for the ice maker. Gee, thanks, way to backup your product. Im guessing the reason they dont backup the ice maker is that its probably the more expensive repair. Like many people here I also will never buy another Whirlpool product again, regardless of what it is. Theyve shown me that not only do they produce inferior products, they also arent interested in customer satisfaction.

3-4 years ago, I had replaced my hot water heater with a Whirlpool, which was purchased at Lowes. On 10/23/11, I awoke to a flooded basement from the said water heater. When I entered the basement, I was able to verify that the water was spraying right from the casing of the unit. Who knows how long it had been spraying, but the place was a complete mess. The water was about 10 inches deep and many things were ruined. I proceeded back to Lowes and purchased another exact unit. This morning I awoke to the sound of what seemed to be water bubbling, only to enter the basement and see exactly what I saw just three weeks previously... another flooded basement from water just pouring out the side of the unit. This is an obvious defect in craftsmanship. Now I find myself with a flooded basement, no hot water, and a decision to make. Do I fight for another replacement or give up on the brand? A replacement water heater will solve my lack of hot water but for now, the question is for how long? Not to mention the cost and time spent with the clean up I did twice.

After 3 weeks of back and forth calls with Whirlpool customer service, the only solution they provided was for me to purchase a new stove at a discount with no compensation for installation, the gas connection kit, or haul-away of the old appliance. The original stove cost me $1100 including the installation, haul-away and taxes. The replacement option would have cost me $800 and still did not included haul-away, the gas installation kit, or taxes. Hardly an affordable solution. Whirlpool at no time addressed that a part on the stove was deemed defective.

Electric hot water heater model E40H6-45-100 - Purchased at Lowes. Husband
Electric hot water heater model E40H6-45-100 - Purchased at Lowes. Husband installed, tank filled, no hot water coming through house lines. Called support center several times after trying each recommendation that did not work. They kept saying it was a plumbing problem. My husband is very smart when it comes to electrical and plumbing. He has done numerous repairs to our homes over the last 30 years we have been married. He knows what he is talking about and told the support tech that he believed it was a faulty water heater. She immediately said the units are all tested before they leave the factory. The final step was to remove the nipple that the hot water flows through out of the tank and remove the two black bellows. Now my husband can see directly through the piece but also decides to put his finger through the the open whole on the top of the tank and cannot get his finger through - it is blocked. He gets a flashlight and a screw driver. Puts the screw driver through a thin plate that was blocking where the water should be coming through. He can now actually see the water in the tank. This was the whole problem! So they could not have tested this tank. They did give us a ref number to take parts back to store to replace parts we already bought and cannot use. Its the time and energy on whats suppose to be an easy job that counts. Will not recommend Whirlpool products to anyone and probably will not purchase any in the future. Ours was not as bad as most of the other reviews I read but wanted to advise others who may think about what brand to purchase.

Overall, I am happy with my Cabrio BUT we purchased a Whirlpool WTW7000DW0 Cabrio top loading washer w/ electronic touch panel in May 2016. We experienced water hammer from day one. I finally had enough yesterday and knowing that the plumbing could be suffering (15 year old condo), purchased 2 Sioux Chief MiniRester, Model 660-H arresters (Lowes at $9.99 each) and had a plumber install them today. I could have but am nursing a fractured rib. Long story short, they work perfectly. There is NO indication elsewhere in the unit that water is even entering the tub unless youre standing right beside it.Ive been told that hammer problems exist in ALL high efficiency washers, all are prone to this problem. I was also told by a Whirlpool support person that the Cabrio is a Samsung design and the pulsing of supply water off and on, over and over is normal operation. If I had been informed when purchasing that hammer is a common problem, I would have installed arresters from the get-go. At the very least, manufacturers should include arresters as a part of the sale; installers should make sure that every new installation includes arresters. All told, I am out just under $200.00 for new technology that really could have been engineered out in the beginning.

Please contact me if a class action Lawsuit has been filed for I am one of those who spent close to 3,000.00 for a lemon and to get the runaround. I spent every penny I earned to buy a long lasting fridge (Whirlpool Gold Series) only to have a headache ever since I bought it. Only owning a year the freezer went out, yes I had to endure the loud noise, no ice. Then the thing would spoil my milk and ham making my stomach to be sick. The temp is 60•. The people that Whirlpool sends out are in cahoots. Told me my compressor is out and I just heard it kick on. We are currently using refrigerator we brought out of the travel trailer kitchen because this thing sucked out all my money.

I bought a Whirlpool Dishwasher, Model No. GU3600XTVY in July 2010 for $844.30. In August 2011, it failed to clean dishes. The repairman said it needed a new heating element and computer board which costs $319.92. Today, he installed the new parts and it still wont heat the water! Now he wants to take it in to the shop to check the wiring. My previous Dishwasher was a low quality builder-installed GE that lasted 16 years without repair. If we Americans accept that 1 year is an acceptable life span for consumer products, we will continue to have this type of trash sold to us. Made in America is now the product you dont want to buy.

I bought my new Whirlpool Duet washer in April 2011 and the gas steam dryer
I bought my new Whirlpool Duet washer in April 2011 and the gas steam dryer in May 2011. In October 2011, the washer started to make a loud banging noise when starting the spin cycle. I contacted Whirlpool, and they scheduled a service call and stated that the washer was out of service. I told them it was and that I just bought it in April 2011. They said that the repair guy would need to see the receipt. Well, the A&E Factory service guy came out and said it was the bearings. Whirlpool only replaced the bearings with the whole tube unit and a few other parts. I was never told that all these parts would be mailed to my home, until I got a call from A&E about the tube being on back order. I was told that the part wouldnt be in until November 21, 2011, and it would take another week or more to schedule for a repair guy to come out. I called Whirlpool Executive Office (269-923-5000) and complained about all this. They said thats how it works--they ship everything to the customer and that there was nothing she could do about the back-ordered part. So I called Lowes corporate office and told them what was going on and asked if they could push Whirlpool into fixing my washer faster. About 4 1/2 hours later, I got a call from the assistant store manager; and they said that they would replace my washer with a brand-new one and would have it delivered in 2 days. Now, that was going above and beyond what I thought they would do. Just another reason why Ill continue to be a Lowes customer. Now, here it is, April 2012; and my dryer is leaking water into the drum. On Saturday, I went online and scheduled a service repair for Wednesday, April 25. Today, the 24th, I got a call from VIA that they would be out tomorrow and that I would owe them $120.00 for the service call as my dryer was out of warranty. Here we go once again, having to battle Whirlpool! I really dont give a dang what their dang system tells them about when I bought their product! I know when I bought it. And why did they keep telling me that Im wrong? They did almost to the point of calling me a liar!I called the Executive Office again and had to leave a message. Mark my words, I will never ever buy another Whirlpool product again! I will make sure that I tell everyone who I know at work and at home about the way Whirlpool handles their good customers!

Whirlpool Clothes Washer Model WTW4930XW1 - We have experienced tub overfilling on (2) separate occasions with this washer model in a period of time of less than (2) years. Through extended warranty service purchased, a technician came out the first time; declared nothing explainable to cause the malfunction, re-calibrated the control panel, and off he went. This second event occurred much the same as the first; happened to walk in to notice water on laundry room floor and witnessed overflow out the lid on top. We have carefully washed additional loads after this second event without a similar malfunction. From my online research, this sure sounds like a faulty pressure switch not sensing high water level in the tub. Any other thoughts?

I contacted Whirlpool in regard to one of their water heaters we purchased from Lowes. It came with a 5-year warranty. At the end of 3 years, the lower element went out. Our plumber took the part back to Lowes, where he stated they normally just do a part replacement with them. On ours, he was told the owner would have to contact the manufacturer. I contacted them and supplied them with the plumbers bill and copies of the front and back of our canceled check, along with all my contact info. Their website states theyll get back with you within two days. I contacted them on March 13, 2013. Today is April 7, 2013 and they havent emailed, called or snail mailed me. After reading these consumer reports, the air has been let out of my balloon. No more Whirlpool products for me! Integrity in our country used to be extremely high. Today it is extremely low as demonstrated by the complaints on this website and now mine. Hey Whirlpool, you suck!

Within the first year, the temps were erratic, freezing in the fridge area at the rec. setting and too warm when I lowered it. Finally the compressor gave in at 19 months. Of course, out of warranty. HOWEVER, my credit card, VISA, added a year of warranty and is paying the full amt for replacement. Now I have no idea what to get. Every brand, American or Japanese is not made to last. We purchased a new side by side black finish refrigerator. There is a design flaw in the water/ice dispenser. The bottom of the dispenser has no edge so any drops of water run down the front of the refrigerator! This leaves constant watermarks down the front. 2. The finish scratches very, very easily. I would not recommend this finish to anyone with children or pets. When you open the door if your ring touches the surface it will scratch it! There was NO user manual on care and I used paper towels to clean. Big no no, as now I have fine scratches on the front. I would never buy this product again because of these flaws. I have a 7 month old refrigerator that looks 7 years old and it is just my husband and myself! Love the inside, hate the outside.

I Purchased 9 year warranty, Whirlpool water heater and installed it. Started having problems in the first month. It started giving a water temp too high error code, yet water was barely warm. Called Whirlpool. They had me do a bunch of diagnostic checks. Determined it was a bad control module. Sent me a new one. I installed it. Within a week or two, same problem. Called Whirlpool. This time they sent a Tech out. Everything on water heater tested normal, nothing wrong with any part. The tech finally, found a TSB that indicated that you couldnt have any re-circulating valves or systems connected to the water heater. We had one to keep hot water at the taps. So I removed the re-circulating kit and water heater worked for a few months. Then same problems, it keeps going into error. Error code indicates water temp too high, but water is barely warm to cold. Call whirlpool several times, they send out another control module and heating elements and I replace them. All work temporarily. Finally replace control module again, and it works for several months. Then back to error codes. Not always the same code. Sometimes it is water temp too high, other times it is check one of the heating elements. We have lived with it like that for about 3 years. We get hot water by resetting the water heater several times a day. Well, about 3 months ago it started tripping the circuit breaker in the electrical panel. I called Whirlpool and explained what has been going on since I bought their piece of junk. They will not do anything unless I call and pay for a service tech to come diagnose and repair the problem. They will provide the parts for the repair. I am not a certified appliance repairman, but I do handy man repair work for a living and do appliance repairs quite regularly. I am capable of doing every test that the repairman will do, but Whirlpool insists that I pay to get their defective product repaired. Then if I have problems again in a couple of months, I will have to pay a service tech again. I have friend that had this same water heater. I replaced the control module on his once. I was telling him about my woes and he told me he got fed up with all the problems and ate the cost and got a new water heater, not a Whirlpool. I am going to call Whirlpool one more time and then I am sure I am going to do what my friend did and put the money I would spend on a service tech into a new water heater. It will not be a Whirlfool.

Purchased a Whirlpool water heater (model ND50T122-403) through Lowe’s in Dec 2013. Later discovered online it fraught with breakdown issues. 11 months later ours broke down. Whirlpool Customer Service first told us We dont have any authorized plumbers in your area. Went to Lowe’s the next day - they called on their hotline and we got a call back from Whirlpool that afternoon. Told us part would ship out immediately (arrived next day - no complaints there) and gave us an authorization for 2 plumbers. Both are over 35 miles away and one is out of state. Called once the part arrived... First one said hed try to get to us in the next 4-7 days; second one said We get to warranty work as fill-in work. Well put you on a list and call if were going to be in your area. While we did a bit of web research before buying this water heater, we really should have taken the model number, gone home and googled it before buying. Wish wed gone with a unit from a real plumbing supply place. They were a lot more expensive but you get what you pay for.

We bought this microwave/hood combo at Home Depot and installed it in our second home roughly 16 months ago. We used it very little over that period because the home is only for vacations. The plastic handle began to disintegrate where it connects to the door (top and bottom) to the point where there is very little plastic remaining. We called the service center and the woman attending to us told us she had never heard of that happening before. Either she had just started working there that day, or she was lying because there are dozens of similar complaints on this very website.I do not understand what is to gain by denying a manufacturing defect. It simply makes no sense to me that a company would allow their reputation be so tarnished. What an ignorant and short-sighted business practice. Washer is not worth the cost. After 4th year of use in a two person household the washer bearings are gone and require replacement. The washer sounds like an airplane. Whirlpool washing machine M# wtw7340xw2 / S# c14270996 - Bought in 11/26/2012. Never was real satisfied with the way the clothes were washed. They never came out real clean and smelled like there was still soap in the clothes. It has been less than two years and now it will not run. Turn the unit on and all it wants to do is turn on the pump to drain the tub. Im a refrigeration technician and know how to run a diagnostic test Whirlpool has for this machine. I get an LF code which is water long fill so I checked out the water tube which is ok. So the problem is in the circuit board not sensing the water level. To replace this board is around $350 dollars and if I had someone else do the work I would be looking at over $550 dollars. I only paid around $500 dollar for the washer so it does not make any sense to put a new solid state board into this washer which cost as much as the washer. Our old GE washer lasted us for over 20 years and did a better job washing our clothes. There should be a better warranty on these machines than one year. I did not buy the extended warranty because of the cost and I expect that the product should last at least 10 years or more.

Now after 3 1/2 years the water drain pump has failed and the sensor on the motor is acting up. This machine listed for $800. I did not purchase extended warranty but I have repaired myself. We purchased our basic Whirlpool refrigerator model # WRT318FZDM05 from Lowes on September 13, 2019. We bought one of the more basic models available because we have owned higher end fancier refrigerators which have had multiple problems and not worked. So this is the 18.2 cubic feet top freezer model. About six weeks after owning it (conveniently just past the 30 day return window at Lowes!) we began to notice that our freezer wasnt freezing properly or making enough ice. There is only one control panel in this basic fridge so we turned it up. While this cranked up the freezer, the refrigerator compartment began to freeze its contents. So we had to choose between soft serve ice cream and refrigerated eggs and milk or hard serve ice cream and frozen eggs and milk! Finally after the holidays the certified Whirlpool appliance technician came out and recommended a repair with replacement of start device and control board. His report: Freezer not freezing, found the compressor turning on and off. The refrigerator was not even 4 months off the floor and the problem began when it was only 2 months old! When you call the Whirlpool number heres what they say: Welcome to the Whirlpool customer exp. For over a century weve believed in everyday care. Lets see how we can care for you today.Well, when someone calls with a very recently purchased refrigerator whose START DEVICE and CONTROL BOARD no longer work properly that person should be able to return the defective appliance and get a new one. Nope. Not with the Whirlpool experience. You are told that youll have to wait and see if those devices which are ten days away from being replaced in your new refrigerator will fix the problem. So basically NO do not buy from Whirlpool. Turns out a century of everyday care (??) hasnt taught them much about how in this century people need a refrigerator that works everyday!!!!

The knob on the Gas Cook top stove from Whirlpool (Part no: W10594481) is very poorly designed. It is very flimsy and breaks easily inside. We then were told by Whirlpool that we would have to wait 60 days. The time came and the customer service now tells us that the breakdown happened the same month we purchased the warranty so we would have to pay ourselves to have it fixed. We went ahead and paid for the repair.A few mos after the ice maker stopped again and the bottom freezer would not freeze anything. Our food spoiled etc. We called Whirlpool now that the warranty was now ok. We had to wait for an appointment with the company of their choice. The repairman came and stated that the part had to be ordered before we can get ice and freezer working. Waited almost 2 weeks for that. Repair done and soon after, like 4 days later we still didnt have ice. Called again, another company was sent... all over again we waited for 2 parts.. He assured us that we should be good. 2 mos now were getting half capacity ice and freezer doesnt freeze everything. Ice cream is a no no.So much money (2500 dollars) paid for that piece of junk. The repairman told us “forget about replacement, the company will send a repairman once a month if they have to“. Its frustrating and some days I wish I could just put it on the sidewalk for the garbage truck. I cant afford to go out and buy a new one (of course it would not be Whirlpool). In the meantime this company Whirlpool is making all this money from selling these junk. I am mad like hell and tell everyone to stay away from Whirlpool. I wish Id purchased a Samsung instead. I could climb the top of a mountain and shout: Dont buy Whirlpool.

I purchased a Whirlpool 3 years ago. It was on the lower end for price so my expectations were not that high. It does an average job cleaning dishes so for the price I could give it 4/5. The pump and motor just went and had to be replaced. Almost the same cost as replacing the whole machine. The repair technician that did the work stated that this was a very common problem with Whirlpool in recent years. Of course this is not covered by warranty. So if you purchase a Whirlpool realize you are rolling the dice.

I purchased a refrigerator from this company Model #WRF989DAM. It worked for only 14 months. I had service people come 4 times to try and fix it, called customer service and was suppose to get a replacement, paid $300.00 for a different model, been 49 days and still have no refrigerator in my home. Had to go out and buy my own replacement. I have called and sent emails with no response of when I would be getting the replacement.

In less than a year my gas range required a new knob because it froze in place. They covered that but not the 4 new knobs since. I must clarify, its not actually the knobs but the thing underneath that my husband has had to replace ever since to our expense and time. Also in less than a year the paint under the knobs totally fell off. We contacted them about that and the reply was paint wasnt covered under warranty. Obviously they used heat resistant paint on the range top because that is perfect condition even with the constant cleaning, but the angled front where the knobs are I had to sand and repaint, not a good look for the stove. They really couldnt have just used the heat resistant paint for 2 1/2 farther? Just horrible quality and worse service. I used to be devoted to Whirlpool but since buying my new refrigerator - Samsung 100 percent from now on!

I had an addition added to my home in 9/2007, which included a new bathroom. A whirlpool hot water tank was added. This week, I woke up to no hot water, so I called the whirlpool customer number regarding the warranty on the model FG1F4034T3NOV. T hey told me the serial number shows its out of warranty, although I may have only had it since 2007. They also said there was a screen that needed to be clean under the bottom of, it that if not clean, would make it stop working. Since homeowners where not cleaning it, they have made a replacement door part that would fix it, and do away with the problem, but I would have to pay $35 for it. I asked them, since the serial number shows that the part has not been replaced on this unit, why not just send it to me, and I pay to have it put on. The person said no, you will have to pay for it if I wanted the part to fix it . Although my builder did not give me the receipt for it, thats just not right. If a manufacturer knows they are having problems with their product, which require a part replacement, and they have produced one, they should be willing to give the part to everyone with the product that request it. On top of that, this model has the left hand threaded thermocouple, which no one around seems to carry. I am totally disappointed with Whirlpool, and right now would not consider buying, or have any more of their products installed into my home.
