Whirlpool Duet 2009 Model WFW9400SW02 - Worst experience ever with a new Whirlpool front Load washing machine. It broke down with error codes F28, F70, F71 13th month just after warranty and was leaking water. Bought 1 yr 153.00 Whirlpool extended warranty. Many reviews in internet have same complaint. Immediately had it repaired after waiting my 60 days to use warranty, but did not work after the door latch switch and one of 3 main circuit boards was replaced which was over $600.00. That was 2 visits. Fired them and had warranty company send different repair Co. They came twice with a cost of $840.00 and worked for 30 days and then had no power. 3rd repair company came out and wanted $350.00 to order part. I was offered $1195.00 cash or $1499.00 replacement top of line Whirlpool WFL98HEBU. Nice! But only 1 year warranty and I had to pay 200.00 shipping. I decided to take the money since I did not want to risk the break down on the new washer. The reviews on the new washer were not favorable with break down as the main complaint. 4 repairs in 1 year is lemon law on my warranty. My repairs were 4 in 45 days.

Purchased a 450.00 Whirlpool over- the-range microwave oven in October 2015 and on January 4, 2017 it is not heating. Timer, light and turntable is working properly. I thought I was buying one of the best products. I was sadly mistaken. So I am a very disappointed senior citizen, is has a fixed income. I still have the receipt from my purchase from Lowes.

I have bought what I thought my dream washer and would never need to buy another one. I told people about it and could have sold many of them. That was in my first year. Now I am into our second year with them and it quits. It cost right at 500.00 and when I called Sears, the company I bought it from, they charged me a service call and says it will be $585.00 to fix. WHAT? This is a lemon. If I were to buy a car and have this sort of problem they would warranty it. Why not appliances? This is an outrage. This should be illegal to sell.

I am very reluctant with online product feedbacks. But here is one story that needs to be told. I purchased a Whirlpool 3D Split AC 2 years back (and hence the product is out of warranty). The product quality is so bad (and unreliable) that within 2 years the coils in the Outdoor Unit have started to leak. When I requested for service visit the technician (so called) came over and did a wet service and took the fee (without an invoice). And assured that the AC would start to work fine. Within a week we realized that the AC is not cooling enough. Again a service visit was called and this time the technician (supposedly) diagnosed the above problem. The repair cost told to me is to the tune of Rs 10,000/- for a product cost of Rs 36,000/- (or so) bought just 2 years back. Does anyone in Whirlpool understand what QUALITY means??? Does anyone understand VALUE FOR MONEY... This aside I have a 2 Tonne Whirlpool AC, 350 l Whirlpool DD refrigerator and a Washing Machine... I think its time for Move over WHIRLPOOL and HELLO MITSUBISHI, BOSCH, HITACHI... End of a great consumer brand...

Weve had this washing machine only a few years, and our household of 2 probably averages 1 load of laundry per week. Weve always had the same problem everyone has with the detergent stains on clothing and having to rewash loads, and the only remedy weve found was using the oversized loads setting and rewashing a load. The last straw was 6 months ago. It quit going through a complete cycle and would not spin out without resetting it. Then it quit spinning out at all. Service Guard, a 3rd party warranty company, diagnosed a faulty motor and ordered a replacement. After a long delay Whirlpool advised it was back-ordered for 3 months. A week ago Whirlpool advised them it was now back-ordered until 5-27. They did not know whether wed ever obtain a replacement motor. After taking clothes to our sons house for a couple months to wash, we purchased another used machine to use until ours is repaired. It is beginning to appear that machine may be our permanent machine. This is a pretty sad testimonial about whirlpool. We have always used Whirlpool appliances but appears we may have to switch brands. And it certainly does appear these low water machines are garbage. Very disappointed in Whirlpool.

Update on a report filed last 4/19/2012 regarding a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator. I originally described the issue as a fire in the relay/compressor which destroyed the compressor and relay. I eventually called Whirlpool and they agreed to send out a technician to perform a repair free of charge. The Whirlpool authorized repair person replaced the compressor and relay, recharged the system and all is working as it should be. Whirlpool covered the repair even though the refrigerator was manufactured in 2003 and I purchased it in 2004.

Kind of hard to hold up the lid and scoop clothes with the other hand!!! Today, I discovered it is rusting from the inside out!!! From what??? Pulled it forward to clean the floor underneath and discovered it has rusted and corroded even on to the matching dryer - white finish!??! Guilty by association! AAAHHH!!! I wish I could upload the picture! Whirlpool and LEONs warranty - they have some explaining to do.

I went to Lowes and purchased a new kitchen full of appliances. The refrigerator is the bottom freezer, French door with water inside. The problem is the freezer stays cold and the refrigerator does not. The vent from the freezer gets frozen, and the refrigerator part stops working. Its only 3 years old . We were told it would cost 700 bucks to fix it, and that a power surge could make it happen again. The capitol of power surges, Florida, what a complete waste of money. I spent my life in retail selling their products. Im so sorry to all who have purchased from me... Its really a terrible product. I would give you all a refund if I could. This really hurts...

It has needed a new motor, new tub assembly, and about six other repairs. Now the heavy duty tub just thumps around and I get an uneven load message, even when running empty. I brought a whirlpool dishwasher in 2013. It never did clean dishes, had to wash them by hand before putting them in dishwasher. Had someone come out and check it. He told me I was using wrong type of soap, so I changed. That didn’t do a thing. Now I have mold growing in the dishwasher because the tub is cracked all around the inside. Called whirlpool, of course they couldn’t do anything about it. Have never heard of dishwasher cracking. So today, Lowes came out and took picture of crack that is where I brought it. So am waiting to find out what is going to happen. Will not ever buy whirlpool again and will tell all my friends.

I had the first microwave for 6 years. My husband messed it up so got a new one, same over the stove type. It has lots of programs. Its a rather large microwave, plus it has a steamer which cooks vegetables with steam while I am doing the rest of the meal and whats more important is its quiet. The site is fantastic not just in width but in depth. The best thing about this microwave too is that it has a frozen cycle which does not partially cook the food like most microwaves and the defrost is the same, it does not partially cook it actually defrosts completely without cooking it. This is by far the best microwave I have ever had, and I wouldnt want any other brand. It might cost a little more than the usual brands but its worth it. I also have a mini Whirlpool on my Countertop for my grandchild to use so he keeps away from stovetop at all times.

We bought this fridge about 5 years ago, it was the exact same model as one we bought in 2003 but everything had changed, the plastic for the drawers was a fraction of the thickness in the older model and it breaks and cracks with the slightest bump like setting the lettuce in, the frame of the door is full of cracks and the fridge keeps leaking then freezing and making puddles on the floor. The little plastic tabs for the ice dispenser broke. It is absolute garbage. The one we bought in 2003 was great clearly the company has NO integrity or desire to make a decent product. I wont be buying anything Whirlpool EVER again.

I completely forgot that I wrote a review on our Whirlpool hot water heater model FG1H5040T3 Nov in 2010 until I received an email telling me how many people read my post. Surprise, Surprise guess what we are having problems with again. You know how nice it is to have hot water anytime you need or want it. Well, not at my house. The hot water heater worked for about a year (Im probably being nice with the time here). Heres our problem now, once the water heats up the pilot goes out. It will not stay on. Ive noticed that if its full the pilot light will not come on, so we have to run some water to be able to light it. Well I called customer service, a waste of time. The guy told me that my heaters warranty expired last year and his suggestion is to go buy another heater. REALLY! All I wanted to do was order a part for it. He did send me an article with suggestion of things to check. Sorry, we already did everything in the article, another waste of time. It seems we are not the only ones (model #) with problems with Whirlpool. Whirlpool used to make good products but its not anymore. I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product again.

Purchased a gas hot water heater from Lowes in October 2015. Installed the hot water tank and two months later started smelling a faint gas smell coming from around the Honeywell box. Called Whirlpool and they thought it was the gas valve and replaced part, but had to pay $30 for overnight shipping. Had plumber install new part and did not fix the issue. Called plumber back out and he found a small pin hole size leak behind pilot light. Patched the leak and still had a gas smell coming from around the Honeywell box. Called Whirlpool back and after some back and forth was able to get hot water tank replaced, since it was only two months old and should not need any maintenance that soon. Replaced water heater with new tank and this tank has a gas smell coming from around the Honeywell box as well. We replaced all our lines and even had the fire department check out our gas lines. Could not find anything. I am still baffled as to why this tank has a gas smell coming from the Honeywell box. I cant seem to find anyone else having this issue. Whirlpool or Lowes has not been any help. Ready to unhook it and buy another brand. Anyone have this issue?

In July of 2014 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold Series model #WRF990SLAM00 refrigerator from Lowes. Within 6 months there was ice and condensation in the top of the fridge. After repair came out and replaced the main circuit board we thought the worry was over. It hasnt worked right yet, making loud noise. It continued to never make ice correctly and now, 18 months later our freezer is out! Everything is unthawed and it will not make ice. We called Whirlpool to explain our problem and the only response we get from them is....they can sell me an extended warranty. We spent $2400 on a refrigerator and they wont even talk about fixing it. We dont want anything free, just ours working. Needless to say Whirlpool lost my business forever. 18 months ago, we purchased a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer. Having previously only purchased Whirlpool washers and dryers for over 40 years, we decided to continue because we had enjoyed positive experiences with all of our previous purchases over the years. Now, our washer has quit working properly, the door locks and wont open on the washer and the repairman arrived today with parts to replace based on the code messages popping up on the washer screen. However, now, hes not certain if the motor has burned out or if it is some other problem. We also purchased a French door frig from Whirlpool barely 13 months ago (bottom freezer) and recently had to have that repaired when one of the electronic boards went out and the freezer quit working and icing up.In both of these cases, the appliances started giving us problems just as soon as the warranties were up; what has happened to Whirlpool reliability and dependability of their products? We cant help but feel that our China-based parts are part of the change and will, in the future, not purchase any more Whirlpool products. We are grossly disappointed and feel cheated with these appliances.

Please read if youre thinking about buying from Whirlpool - the Whirlpool front loading washing machine. Hmm, where do I start? Oh yeah, its a colossal piece of garbage. Four years ago my wife and I went shopping for a washer and dryer. We looked at quite a few and then we came across the Whirlpool front loading washer. Ah, the wave of the future. The end all solution to your washing needs. The best the market has to offer and at over $1,100, they should be. The salesman completely sold us on why we should spend a little extra for such a superior product. I thought, I work hard. I dont make a ton of money, but this sounds like a long term, worthwhile investment. Wrap it up, the washer and dryer combo. Fast forward 4 years later. Whats that awful clunking sound the washer is making? Oh, its the drum. Maybe its off center. I opened it up to find that the spider arm is broken. Isnt it only 4 years old? Surely they (Whirlpool) will fix this at no charge to the consumer because as I was told 4 years ago, this is the best technology. Now mind you, its just my wife and me. She doesnt have to do laundry for 50 people or even 4 for that matter. Calling Whirlpool (ring, ring, ring. Hello, this is Whirlpool), I explained to them what the problem is and that we have only had this magnificent piece of gold for 4 years. What can you do for me? Sorry sir, the machine is only warrantied for a year. Youll have to buy the $350 part to fix it. Reading between the lines, Youre screwed sucker. Thanks for the cash. Really, youre telling me that I spent almost $2,000 of my very hard earned money for a washer and dryer set, and after only 4 years of use you will not fix it? Allow me to paraphrase the reply in laymans terms. Nope, youre ** and thanks for the green. Here are my thoughts on Whirlpool. They are one of the worst companies out there for customer service. The front loading washing machine is a horrible product that should be pulled off the market and never be sold again. My experience with this company will never happen again because I will never ever buy another one of their products. So please, before you think about giving them your business by buying a front loading washing machine, think again. And remember this - I now have a $1,100 paperweight.

We purchased 4.0 cu. ft. Cabrio Top Load Washer with 6th Sense Technology MODEL WTW7340XW2 on 11/20/2011. We are a small family of 3 so use of the machine is light. We noticed a strange sound and some leaks a week ago and called in a technician recommended on the Whirlpool website. To our horror he informed us that we need to replace the tub bearing assembly, rotor and stator - to a cost of $1095! This machine is not even 3 years old. Did we buy a lemon? I called Whirlpool. They were simply not interested. The online chat person sent me to the Whirlpool Customer Experience Team where I was told that I should buy an insurance plan to cover the costs of repairs. They then sent me on to the insurance department who want me to pay $338 to buy a repair plan to have the machine fixed. And then referred me to the Manufacturing division when I wanted to know how to escalate the problem - and if you call that number - there is no option to deal with problems - seriously?!? Is this what I should expect when buying the Whirlpool brand?

CABRIO GETS A ZERO RATING. We are sorry we ever bought this washer in 08. The unit had a defective main control board and was replaced in 2012. The factory authorized service agent from A&E literally robbed us of jewelry while in our home. Now the main electronic control board needs to be replaced again. Neither Whirlpool or their authorized agents are truly customer service oriented on the defective product. Neither are willing to make an honest attempt at regaining our trust. I have contacted both and neither will acknowledge or offer reconciliation. The problem with the main board and the recurrent F-50 error has been denied by Whirlpool although acknowledged in numerous consumer forums as this. Our family is now without a wash machine. We have not even received a simple apology for the theft from the service agency - even though their employee has been arrested. BEWARE!

We purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and Dryer May 2017. First, this washer is SO LOUD! Honestly, NEVER had a washer that is this loud on the spin cycle. My second issue is, that when I wash my blacks, they have white splotches streaks on them. I use ALL clear and free liquid washer and Downy softener, so I stopped the softener, and still the white streaking. Ive since will use the additional rinse on during the wash, but still leaves white streaks. After 3 separate rinse cycles, no streaking. This leaves me thinking that with the lighter colored clothing, there is probably streaking as well, just can see it - my conclusion is that the clothes arent getting cleaned properly, or rinsed. Another issue is the dryer. First, takes longer than all my previous dryers, even the set 110 mins for towels on high, still takes longer. My washers are not packed tight with clothes either - its just my husband and myself - not a lot of washing. Also, I noticed a crack in the inside dryer/drum where it looks like the paint is chipping and cracked. I used some high heat touch up paint, and it did not help. Needless to say, what I thought was an good reputable product, turns out to be, not so good.

I purchased a #Whirlpool; 4.3 cu. ft. Mini Refrigerator Stainless Steel BC-127B from @Target. There was a delay putting it into service (6 mos), so the Target store warranty was expired. The unit remained in its factory shipped packaging until put in service, so nothing out of the ordinary there. After barely two weeks of use, the compressor died. I followed all instructions (including waiting 8-10 weeks) from Whirlpool, but still have not received a refund or been given any information beyond we escalated it to our warranty team but havent heard back yet. The unit was a poorly made piece of junk in other respects as well. There are dozens of complaints about precisely this - defective units - on any site. Whirlpool Duet washing machine model WFW9500TW03 - Just after the first year of owning this machine, the metal hinge to the door cracked and the door didnt shut properly. It was replaced. After a couple of years, the bearings and drum of this machine failed. The cost for parts and repair were as much as the machine new. After repairs, the machine never ran quietly again. I have called for repair a second time for the same issue and he has confirmed that its the bearings again causing the drum to dislocate and hence, break the belt that I now need to replace. My problem is with Whirlpool for its defective metal in its machines (many complaints on the internet will confirm this). I believe there are enough consumers out there to file a class action lawsuit.

In May 2016 it once again was running so hot that it burned hand when opened. Once again repaired but this time it started leaking from front dishwasher. When we talked to whirlpool they sent out repairman and assured us they would pay for any and all damage it had caused. They also replaced dishwasher with Maytag of our choice which they covered all cost. When installers pulled out the unit we learned the dishwasher had most likely been leaking the entire time, water damage up entire wall, cabinets ruined, countertops had been bubbling and separating from wall, floors ruined. We followed all instructions and had three contractors come to do estimates that were from 27,500-30,680. Whirlpool then sent outside adjuster because of cost. We have now received offer of 6700 and told we could take this or submit to our insurance company. Also we now have Mold in kitchen which they are aware of and we think the flooring is now rotting and breaking.

Im afraid if burner is lit, had we try to start oven we are going to have explosion.

I bought a brand new washer from Home Depot, Whirlpool 4.3 cu High Efficiency Top Load Washer to be exact. It hasnt even been 90 days and it started to make the loud, horrible noise so we had someone come and look at it. Apparently the transmission blew and the oil leaked all over my tile floor. I work full time and I do laundry only on the weekends and there is only two people living in the house so you can imagine we do not use it that much. I went to Home Depot first and since it was past 30 days we had to called Whirlpool direct. The customer service is horrible. I thought since the transmission blew, they would replace the entire machine since that is the brain of it. NOPE! They said to replace the entire machine and give us a new one, it would have to break 3 times. Are you kidding me? They did not offer to reimburse the tile damage or the amount of money I had to spend at the laundromat. Not to mention its been over a week and the guy still has not come out and fixed the transmission. It would not be a big deal to me if the hose broke or something simple, but imagine if you bought a BRAND NEW car and the transmission broke 60 days after you bought it. You would take it back to get a new car. The customer service line could not care less about the issue. I spent over 2 grand in appliances from Whirlpool and I will never buy their product again because of the customer service and the fact they did not want to make the situation right. I just bought the machine brand new for a reason!

We bought a 20.5 cubic ft Whirlpool refrigerator. 2 months later it started cutting off, and on in a constant repeated cycle then run normal for a while. We had 2 Whirlpool repair appointments. The first guy said he couldnt come fix it unless it was acting up while he was here which was a intermittent issue. Refrigerators dont perform on cue. The 2nd guy came out after the first guy messed around long enough for the warranty to expire. We went ahead, and replaced the startup relay (most common problem). He replaced the control board, and wire harness. He said if that didnt fix it he didnt know what else to do. 2 hours after he left the fridge was right back to doing the same thing. He failed to report back to Whirlpool that the fridge couldnt be repaired. We contacted customer service, and their resolution was to get another repairman to come out, and replace the control board which had already been replaced. In the end they bailed on us, and left us stuck with a broke refrigerator, and we had to buy a new one ourselves. I might add it was not a Whirlpool. They spent $471 trying to fix a broken fridge, and wanted to send another repairman (another $100) to fix a $629 refrigerator how does that make any sense. It was a very disappointing experience, and Whirlpool should be ashamed.

I purchased a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side Refrigerator on June 15, 2013. The freezer works fine but the refrigerator does not feel that cold and when I put a thermometer in there, it reads 42-43 deg although the refrigerator is set at 37 deg. The tech was just here and told me to put a thermometer in a glass of water and read it again. His thermometer read 46 deg when reading a bottle in the door although he explained that he had had the door opened for a while during his visit. He said his reading of the bottle upon opening the door was 36 deg. I do not believe that. I just measured some bottled water temperature and it was 48 deg. I have a hard time believing the temp went up 12 degrees and he has been gone for a half hour. My food is cold but not like you expect from a refrigerator. My bottled water and soda, etc., are not very cold. The worst is the water dispenser. That water is barely cooler than tap water. There is almost no difference. The water temperature has been in the 60s when Ive measured it. The tech says the first glass wont be cold (have never had that with any other refrigerator) but even if you get the second and third glasses of water, they arent any colder... maybe a couple of degrees. If anyone else is having this problem and Whirlpool will do nothing, then Im interested in legal action.

For years, Whirlpool has had an outstanding reputation for quality, so I cannot understand why a refrigerator I have owned less than three years has to have all the shelves and bins replaced. Not the glass, just the plastic. They actually started breaking the first year. I have literally had to tape my shelves together. These are very expensive and yet they are very low quality and of course are not covered on the warranty. The plastic is not built to withstand the cold and/or weight of food products. They need to get rid of the plastic and replace it with metal. I dont want to replace them with the same low grade products. I own the model ED5JHEXTB00 serial # HRU4010107. I called Whirlpool also and was told to be sure to place my clothes around the sides of the tub, which I always did. If Whirlpool was smart, they would take the complaints about the Cabrio and offer the customers a small amount of money towards purchasing another Whirlpool washer. This is the second time since I have bought my Whirlpool top loading washing machine, which was January 1, 2011. During a power outage, I was washing clothes and my machine lid would not unlock after our power came back on. I called the warranty service and they made arrangement for a repair man to come out to repair it, but the appointment was in two days. Meanwhile, I had clothes in the machine I needed and was afraid they would become molded and no good. So my husband opened the lid and I removed the clothes. When the repair man came, he was not going to repair the machine because we opened the lid. He was very rude, but after doing some talking he repaired the lid. Now, once again we had a power outage while I was washing clothes and the lid is locked on the washing machine and will not open. This happened Friday, March 16, 2012; my appointment for the repairman to come is Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Meanwhile, my clothes are sitting in the machine wet because we were told not to try to open the lid and wait for the repair service to come. I am very concerned my clothes will be molded and I will be unable to use them. I would never buy another washing machine like this one. Model number is WTW4800X, Standard/Ordinaire VOXr8ENA(3B). Date of purchase: January1, 2011.

We built a new home at the beach to enjoy our retirement and the builder installed new Whirlpool appliances. As far as we are concerned this was the BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY WE HAD. Our appliances were under warranty for 1 year as usual and after 14 months things began to break. The latest is the ice maker in the French door fridge. After finding the diagnostics test online I ran the test and determined that the whole ice maker needs replaced. This ridiculous since the fridge is only a little over a year old. We even upgraded the fridge to avoid any problems. After talking to the people in our neighborhood we have come to find out that most people here have had trouble with whirlpool appliances.. I am ready to send these to the junkyard and replace them with a reputable brand (LG) that we owned before and were very happy with.. I dont understand if there is all these problems with Whirlpool products why the technical team doesnt fix the problem... Get parts from the USA NOT CHINA!!! My neighbor just told me he had the repairman at his house 7 times to fix his fridge and finally got a new one. Just got tired of the hassle and expense....

I have hated this Cabrio washer and dryer set since the day they were delivered brand new by Best Buy a couple of years ago. The washer does not clean well, often does not spin dry, and leaves some clothes dry after a full wash cycle!!! I have to wash small loads on the deep water cycle to even have a chance at cleaning the clothes. The clothes are so dreadfully compacted and tangled that it takes great effort to birth them out of the washer, unfurl them, shake them, and put them into the next torture machine- the dryer. It is as if Whirlpool intended to build a machine to twist clothing so tight that it requires a bodybuilder to untangle the clothing. Then the items are so incredibly crumpled that ironing has found its way back into my already busy life. Ironing is a massive challenge to the degree of wrinkles in the clothing. The slanted tops are icing on the cake. Cant even pull the clothes out of the dryer to the top of it because they slide right off. Cool.

Sad that I have to file this review! After reading multiple other reviews on all brands available to American citizens, I have come to the realization that cheap labor and materials are creating massive appliance garbage in our country as well as financial rip off for us all. It needs to STOP! What has happened to doing things right!! What company is going to be the first to produce good refrigerators! Paid over $2000 for my side by side and it is only 5 years old and has a freon leak that cant be fixed. Repairman said will have to buy a new refrigerator. Pathetic!! Cheap manufacturing in foreign countries is killing our economy and our household finances. Be prepared to buy NOTHING that works! Yeah, thats what I work hard for and look forward to. Americans better wake up.

I went to get ice from my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator, model GB2FHDXWS, and found it was melted. Light and fans were working. I had to throw out all that was in the freezer drawer. I called Lowes service and reported that our four-month old refrigerator wasnt working. They sent a food claim number and set up a service call. Then, the lady said to unplug it and plug it back in. We had since cleaned it out. I unplugged it and plugged after a minute and it came back on. The Ace service guy called to confirm his schedule. After hearing that it is running again, he said they are computer controlled and unplugging it and plugging it back in reboots it, as you might reboot locked up PC. He also said that since it is now running, Whirlpool wont stand behind a service call. He said wait until it does it again. Now thats just jim-dandy. We have an expensive new Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that has computer controlling that cant be trusted as the control may or may not lock up in the future spoiling the stored food.

My landlord purchased a new Amana washer (NTW4605EW0) Labor Day weekend 201
My landlord purchased a new Amana washer (NTW4605EW0) Labor Day weekend 2015. It started having issues in the spring, so we went through the process of utilizing the manufacturers warranty. Apparently, Amana, part of Whirlpool, requires 5 attempts at repairing the machines before replacing. Okay, so starting in June 2016, we arranged service appointments 5 times and replaced 1 part, then another, 4 times. Clearly, that part is defunct. Right? Fast forward to September and then into October. Get a new washer, and not the one I preferred. We got the Whirlpool WTW4816FW1. Before the installers leave, we are having the SAME issue. Stops midcycle, doesnt finish cycle, sometimes stops while filling, or while full, or kid wash, or mid drain... But now with the new washer, the drain and spin cycle thinks it should FILL instead of drain... and Whirlpool said they would get someone out the next day, a promise they cannot keep because they dont supply the repair guy, they source with local companies. So, the company ordered 3 parts... That could be the problem. And 4 days later, 2 parts are on freaking BACK ORDER. Parts arrive. All new parts replaced. Machine still doesnt work. Outlet tested by us and them and it is fine. The techs think there is some kind of RF interference. Turn off sensor light, which is on the same wall, unplug power to wifi router (which outdates the washer). Still, doesnt work.I have spent half my week, every week, since June, restarting my washer, unplugging the damn thing, waiting, and waiting, trying again and again and again to wash 2 loads of laundry a week... Literally takes a week until the damn thing does its job. Whirlpool is sent us a replacement washer. Can you guess what happened the first time we started it? SAME ISSUE. Cycle will not complete. Sometimes it dies before it even fills. Sometimes it dies while filling. Sometimes, it will fill and fill and drain and fill and fill and drain and... never stop filling. Or, the fun one, the drain and spin cycle thinks it is suppose to fill. Continuously. And then, suddenly, after unplugging it for 1 hr, or 24, or 72 hrs, it will work fine for 1-7 cycles. Nothing is consistent except that it doesnt work consistently. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS MUCH TROUBLE???

I am very disappointed in my Cabrio washer. I have had it for two year and now I have to spend $ 250.00 on a machine that sounds like Im in a machine factory. It is so loud in the spin cycle that you cant hear a TV or radio. Also the lit of the washer broke in the start of the second year. I had my previous washer for 15 years before requiring a service call. I have to agree with all the reviews that this washer should be recalled. Maybe if we all call the media in on this problem Whirlpool will be forced to pay for a recall or repairs. Another case of big business ripping off the consumer.

Retail price, $3100. Purchased from Sears Outlet for 2/3 of that amount due to dings on a side panel, back and some blemishes on the front. Still sold as new with a new warranty (Good thing!). Ive had full use of the unit for 1 month out of 3 that Ive had it. Freezer stays at a temperature in the mid-20s and, after 4 repair visits, it turns out the compressor is faulty and now Im waiting for the 2nd part to arrive and be installed to see if that corrects the problem. Sears stepped away from the problem saying it will be repaired. Whirlpool has wonderful telephone support that is totally committed to me staying with a faulty appliance until its fixed. My view is that a unit that expensive, should be no problem to replace allowing Whirlpool to take as long as they want to make repairs and re-sell it. Called 8/24/15 - spoke with representative about our two year old washer. Nothing Whirlpool can or will do.They have no other complaints about rust inside the lid and inside rim at bleach dispenser nor chipping of paint from lid. When asking the Whirlpool representative about the rust, he assured us there were no other complaints. This is hard to believe since our recent research clearly shows that other brands have had to replace tops due to rust. As for clothes not cleaning, no response to this issue. Whirlpool has not trained salespersons and therefore at the mercy of Lowes hard sales tactics and we were very delinquent in researching numerous complaints before purchasing Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Model WTW8240YWD - Ranked lowest possible from ConsumerAffairs with hundreds of complaints. Whirlpool should be ashamed of product - clothes do not come clean, there is no soak cycle, no way to open mid cycle without losing all water, washer smells horribly, must be cleaned - are you kidding? Who cleans the washer that is supposed to clean clothes with a special cleaner?? We understand safety issues of water in open machine, wonder if Whirlpool understands the need to have a soak feature to clean clothes. Undereducated buyers like us and the totally undereducated salesperson at Lowes were obviously a horrible combination. It was all about sales for them. No one mentioned and we had no clue that the huge drum would not clean clothes even using less water than a traditional machine. We thought platinum meant a high quality machine. It clearly was a cleverly used buzz word for sales not a premier cleaning machine. Never, never, never purchasing Whirpool anything again. Wonder if Whirlpool cares, if they read the ConsumerAffairs reports, if they respond. Our hard-earned money is wasted. Our clothes are dirty, the washer smells, and the top is rusting out!

Purchased heavy duty dual steam washer and dryer in 2008. Recently got some error codes that we could not fix. Had one service company come in and they could not figure it out. Had a certified Whirlpool company come in and they could not figure it out. They called Whirlpool technicians and they were even unsure of what is wrong. Said they could keep ordering parts and trying them to fix the problem. And of course I would be responsible for the parts. And no guarantee it would be solve the problem. Called Whirlpool direct, to no satisfaction. They said they could send the same company out and have them call the tech line while on site and try to troubleshoot the problem. However, would have to wait another 3 days to get him out. Been a week without washer. I have had washers bought previously last over 10 years without any problems. If these machines are breaking or control boards are going out after about 4 years, then Whirlpool has a bigger problem. Whirlpool supervisor was only offering to maybe a discount on the parts needed, without even knowing if they could fix the problem. Seems to me like they really dont care. Very dissatisfied, will definitely not recommend this product to anyone. And if it ever gets fixed, I am going to sell them immediately.

FRUSTRATION!!! It is unbelievable that even appliances have become DISPOSABLE! Where are the days of when our parents bought well made appliances that LASTED 20 years with NO problems??? There was satisfaction knowing that a purchase of an appliance was $$ well spent! These days it costs MORE to replace parts than IF you purchased a brand new machine! We purchased BRAND NEW Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer AND dryer in 2007. The washer has been repaired a total of 5 times and the dryer 3 times!!! IN A SPAN OF 10 YEARS! Are you serious?! With the $$ spent on warranties/ labor/ parts: WE could have purchased new appliances. What is WRONG with this picture? IT IS ALL about making money on REPLACING PARTS/WARRANTIES/LABOR!!! Forget the consumer that is spending THEIR hard earned money to buy the appliances initially. Short of going to a laundromat, the consumer needs to purchase a washer & dryer. So I guess it is a vicious cycle of REPAIRS/REPAIRS AND MORE REPAIRS!!!

This is about my Whirlpool washing machine that has abruptly stopped working. My Whirlpool washing machine was bought in 2013 and was running [absolutely] great until Tuesday October 3, 2017. I called customer service and they said it was out of warranty. My Whirlpool washing machine model number is: WTW48008Q0. Serial number is: C34923747. I do not have the money to get this machine fixed. I am already a struggling mom, working hard to pay bills and I am already falling behind on most of them. I just had death in my family and now the machine dies - well there seems to be no end to all of this. I would really appreciate Whirlpools help in getting my machine up and running again. I have been a loyal Whirlpool customer over the span of more than two decades. I am a Whirlpool fan. My past machines have lasted 12 plus years on upwards to 15 years each.Let me share exactly what my washing machine is doing: I went to wash clothes as usual the other day; the machine filled up and stopped abruptly - that was it! It did not spin but instead emptied the water without washing the clothes and made some loud chitty chitty bang bang noises before it was all over. I unplugged it after wasting a lot more water thinking that it might just suddenly start working. It did not start working again, it just continued its non-working status. My family has bought Whirlpool washing machines and dryers for years from Sears; we were totally satisfied with the products we purchased, however, this washing machine did not make the five year mark. I really do not know what is going on with the machine; what I do know is this - it stopped working and I would like to get it working again. Hopefully it is not defective by design. #WhirlpoolWasherDefectiveByDesign. I found Whirlpool washing machines to be very reliable and would love to continue my great relationship with Whirlpool.

I am along with all the others regarding this last washing machine I bought - the Cabrio. I read all the instructions, did all that the manual told me to do and yet I have become more and more disappointed. Unfortunately, I guess we are all up the creek without a paddle, huh? There is my husband and myself in the home, so there isnt a ton of laundry. The problem has been that the clothes just kind of get sloshed around in a little bit of water, causing detergents not to get rinsed out. In other words, I have detergent streaks on the clothes. Presently, I have decided that I will probably have to re-rinse everything after the regular cycle. This has been so disappointing. We have always used Whirlpool machines. I have had two people in the past two weeks ask me about which to buy, and I have encouraged them not to buy the Cabrio because if they do, they will be stuck like me! The company asks me if I want an attorney to contact me. Who has money for an attorney? I just would like to have a different machine to replace the mistake I bought into.

Purchased this simple 30 wide fridge July 2017 to fit a short kitchen slot.
Purchased this simple 30 wide fridge July 2017 to fit a short kitchen slot. It worked adequately, but it only had 3 temp settings. The highest setting was too warm and coldest froze food in the fridge within days. The middle setting was a little cold but the best option. Food in the back did occasionally freeze and we had to be careful for vegetables in the drawer freezing. Often we wrapped lettuce and more fragile veggies in towels to absorb moisture and slow down freezing. Two years after buying - almost to the day - the fridge stopped cooling below 45F. The freezer still worked, so I thought it might be fixable. I tried some DIY repairs from a couple of websites but nothing worked. Within a week, the fridge temps were up to 50-55F. I gave up on buying ice and keeping food in coolers. I bought a GE and havent looked back.

I absolutely hate this washing machine. When I bought it a couple of years ago I thought it would be great for large items... NOT! It leaves white residue on dark colors but the MOST important issue is going off balance. The lid stays locked and you have to start the cycle from the beginning... What a waste!!! Never again will I get a Whirlpool.

EveryDay Care? Every day I hope the part needed to make my new Whirlpool refrigerator work again is delivered so it can be repaired. I bought it in December and since then the WRF992FIFM has had the ice maker fail and need replacement and the fan unit in the refrigerator went out 2 days later. It has been nearly a week now and I am using dry ice to keep my refrigerator cold enough to store some food. The authorized repair service did not have the part and Whirlpool is shipping it directly to me but I do not know when. No tracking info, nothing. Three days and no delivery. Then I must call the repair service back to schedule yet another appointment to install it. Meanwhile, I am paying $13.00 to $20.00 per day for dry ice, not to mention the time I had to take off of work for three service calls - for an appliance I took delivery of on December 21st! Less than 2 months. I am finding out quickly that Whirlpool is very generous with apologies and stingy with results. I should have checked the Whirlpool FB page before making my purchase. But they sure are quick to try and sell you the extended warranty. I am developing a whopping case of buyers remorse.

Purchased 2 years ago from Lowes with the matching dryer. This machine (Model #WTW8540BW0) has more problems than the Bosch front load that I replaced. All of my white clothing gets small rust colored lines on it. I am sure this is because the top of the bleach dispenser is lined with rust. I have never owned a washer that rusts (screws are also rusty). I will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool product.

I purchased a Whirlpool washer in 2010. It has started to rust. I called the customer services dept. They told me that there was nothing they could do about it because it was over a year old. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. She told me the same thing. I told her that its not as if Im looking for a new washer. She said that there was nothing they could do; I had to pay for the repairs myself. I told her, After spending almost $1,000 on a washer, I have to pay for the repairs? She said, Yes, maam. I asked if I could speak to someone over her. She said that she had to take down my name and number and someone would call me back in 24 hrs ... from the management team. She asked for my number and not my name and said someone would be calling back. I told her, How are you going to forward the message without a name? Maam, Im sorry. Whats your name? I doubt if anyone will be calling me back. Whirlpool customer service sucks! They dont know how to treat their customers. Watch out for the warranty. What they call a warranty is not.

Updated on 12/28/2020: I purchased a 28 cu. ft. side by side Whirlpool refrigerator less than 3 years ago (Feb. 18). The icemaker dispenser paddle quit working nearly a year ago and there are no replacement parts supported. Today the ice maker quit making ice. This is crap for a major appliance that youd expect to go twenty years or so. Very dissatisfied. Dont waste your money on this stuff.Original Review: I purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator about 2-1/2 years ago, paid $1,800+ for it. Now two months ago the ice maker dispenser through the door quit working. I replaced the auger motor and that didnt help. Now the parts department says the actuator panels are no longer available. This is planned obsolescence to the Nth degree. No support for a major appliance less than 3 years old. Whirlpool SUCKS!!!

Whirlpool microwave oven a few months old stopped working. Customer service center not helpful with prolonged holds (>30 minutes), no response to email, and amazingly no response to live chat. The 800 number was busy at one point for over an hour. When I finally did get thru, there was no coordination with local repair men, and a factory delay on the parts. I am going on 6 weeks without a functioning microwave and 3 kids at home. Thanks Whirlpool.

Found this page and after reading review after review, I will not spend a dime to fix the junk product from Whirlpool. Going to put in the dumpster and never buy another Whirlpool product. I have never seen so many complaints about a product and many being the same bearing problem. Where is our recall process? Its ok to rip off people over and over with no consequence. And why do large chains keep their product? Guess theyre in on the rip off.

We had the Whirlpool electric range delivered yesterday. The clock light is too bright! Keeps the house lit all night! Do I really need to pay the cost of burning this? Additionally, it’s so annoying that we will not be keeping the range. If I needed a nightlight, I would buy one. Very poor design. The lights on the other appliances go out when not in use, one would think the range would have been designed to do so as well. I have NEVER had a problem with a stove light being too bright. This is ridiculous.

Even with the hottest water on the most heavy duty setting, regular dinner
Even with the hottest water on the most heavy duty setting, regular dinner plates are not cleaned. The flatware holders that are set in the door (instead of free-standing in a rack) do not have adequate holes in the holders and are too far away from the limited jets to get adequate soap and water to cleanse the flatware. Even after rinsing all scraps off the plates and flatware, we find bits of food, gravy, or smudges on the plates and flatware - since its first usage. The manufacturer had the audacity to claim that was normal. Settings include delayed starting, heavy duty versus normal washing, and different types of drying. The heavy duty washing is definitely poor quality, and there seems to be no difference between any of the drying settings. The delayed start is nice. The physical layout of the prongs on the racks and the folding racks do not allow easy fit for most sizes of pots plus plates on the same bottom rack. I cannot put a 1 gallon pot level on the same rack as dinner plates. I must put it beside salad plates. Only small sauce pans fit neatly or cleanly beside dinner plates. Yet the external dimensions of this dishwasher are the same as the competitors standard size. Looks neat and is easy to clean. Also, the exterior does not show scratches. Actually, I cannot see where the exterior has any scratches. The service people were very little help. The Warranty said that after five (5) service calls the unit would be replaced. We made six (6) service calls, but we were told that we did NOT have six because if you called again within 90 days of a call, that was considered the same service call. That requires 450 days minimum to have five (5) qualified service calls, but that warranty was good for only 365 days!

We have had this microwave 3 years. The first thing we noticed was that baked potatoes were way overdone and nothing heated up correctly when using the sensor Not a big deal - just stopped using the sensor button. Now, we keep getting the open/close door message keeps coming up. I have done all the recommended fixes with no luck. Now we need to have a repairman come out to fix it. It seems when you are paying over $300.00 for a microwave, it should last longer. If I had known it would be such a poor quality, I would have bought a less expensive one and definitely a different brand. We do not use a microwave on a daily basis, so it certainly did not crap out from overuse. I would not recommend this to anyone. Save your money or you will be spending much more on repairs.

I bought my Whirlpool range in 2009. Good thing I bought an extra warranty because since then, my oven has stopped working about 5 or 6 times. When I turn the oven on, it does the clicking sound, it starts up then it turns off and sometimes it doesnt even turn on. In 2010, I had my turkey ready for the oven at Thanksgiving. I turned on the oven and nothing. I had to cut the turkey and deep fry it. In 2011, same time on Thanksgiving and now Ive been waiting for 2 weeks for the part. I have 4 kids. I need an oven. I cant take this anymore. Also, out of the blue, sometimes the stove top starts clicking on its own and it scares the hell out of us. I have to unplug the stove. Help.

We bought our Whirlpool washer and dryer set through a PX at Fort Hood, Texas. Took it home, plugged it in and... nothing. Called the service desk, and they sent a repairman right away. He replaced the panel and the water intake fuse (I think? It was a fuse that dealt with the water filling) and then we were off and running. I thought, Great! Now I can wash laundry! After about a couple months, the washer would be so stinking loud in the spin cycle, we would plan outside activities ha ha. Fast forward 2 years, the loud sound continues, but Ive not had any problems. Then, Im washing a load of bed sheets, and just happen to walk past the washer while its spinning... I smelled something HOT and BURNING! Sure enough, it was the washer! I hurried and stopped the spin and unplugged the machine. Opened the door to pull out my sheets, and white smoke comes pouring out of the machine. IT NEARLY STARTED A HOUSE FIRE. I was praising God I smelled the problem. Who knows what would have happened. So I call an appliance shop I trust. They send out a guy who tells me I might as well purchase a new machine because the bearing is bad, and the repair is going to cost $600+. Never again, Whirlpool. Never again. You dont endanger my familys safety in exchange for a quick buck on cheap parts. Ridiculous. And, now that I am reading all these reviews on this website about my washer, I am floored. How is there not a class action lawsuit against this company? Mold and fire-hazards are serious infractions, in my opinion.

We bought a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator new. When the first one was delivered it had electronic problems. We sent that one back. The next one, same model, seemed to be alright for a few days then it developed electronic problems. My son discovered the problem was caused by a faulty door panel in the freezer. The panel would come loose and if you knocked it back in place the electronics would work until the panel came loose again. Whirlpool would do nothing about our complaint. Now the refrigerator section freezes things. We paid to have it fixed 2 months ago and now have the problem again. The repairman said he had brought up concerns in meetings about the same door problems and been blown off. Our food is freezing in the refrigerator again and Whirlpool has blown us off again. We will never buy Whirlpool again. I trusted Consumers Report when I bought the Whirlpool and that goes to show you that doesnt always work either.

I paid about $3500 for this, alleged, top of the line fridge a little over 2 years ago. The freezer, bottom type, doesnt get cold enough to thoroughly freeze food. Called Sears, they said out of warranty, the same with whirlpool. But they can have a tech run a diagnostic check for $85. Here we go. They suck more money out of the consumer game, and try to baffle them with **, legal jargon. FYI for all. Dont buy Whirlpool from any store selling Whirlpool products, any Whirlpool products. Once the middle men get the picture, they will stop ordering or buying from Whirlpool.Whirlpool are a bunch of con artists selling crappy products with false integrity. They are the typical old school door to door salesman that sells a crappy product then is on the run to the next state. No receipt or order number. I bought the product two years ago but here is the Serial number K30416919 and the Model number WRF989SDAM00. What happened to fridges that lasted at least 10 years? When my dryer died my wife and I decided to get both a new washer & dryer. I kick myself for two reasons. My 15-year-old washer which worked fine I replaced, and I didnt check reviews before buying. What a mistake. The eco-friendly Whirlpool washer designed to save energy doesnt clean close, my towels are the worse. Coming out of a shower and using a freshly washed towel to dry off and it smelling like it had never been washed tears it for me. He ordered new parts and I waited over 3 weeks for next repair call to find out that whirlpool had part all along. Repair man came again and still no resolution to issue. He was told to order same parts again - still no resolution yet again. I fought with Whirlpool till they said they would give me a new machine. In November 2014 the refrigerator abruptly stopped making ice and began continuously cycling through the ice making process without creating ice cubes. Repairman told me the ice maker needs to be replaced for $300. He stated the control board went bad and the only recourse is an out of pocket replacement of the entire ice maker. We purchased a Whirlpool AccuBake oven in 2005. I think we used the self-cleaning feature about 3 times. The reason I mention this is it may be a possible cause to the frightening experience we had on August 15, 2012. My wife was cooking on the stove top when suddenly we heard loud electrical explosions coming from the back of the oven. We soon saw long arcing bolts of sparks shooting out the back, and my wife was terrified and didnt know what to do. I told her and my son to stay away from it. I ran to the circuit breaker box and turned off the breaker. We then looked in the back of the oven and it was on fire. I ran around looking for a fire extinguisher but my son managed to put the fire out. We called Whirlpool up and explained what had happened. They immediately sent someone out to look at it.I was very impressed at how fast they got someone out there. Whirlpool sent two technicians to look at the damage. After they were done inspecting, they told my wife that the problem is loose connections on Whirlpools side and not the feed and it had a damaged control board and that this is the fault of Whirlpool. He was very polite to us and apologized for any inconvenience. After a week had passed, no one called us, so my wife called and talked to some woman representative at Whirlpool. She told my wife that the report she got said that the oven had loose connection on the feed side from where we bought the oven and we should deal with them. My wife couldnt believe her ears and said, No, thats not what the technician told us, and the woman continued to talk and my wife said, Wait, slow down. The woman replied, Oh, am I going too fast for you? Well, I guess I have to talk slower then, in a sarcastic tone. My wife then called the technician who wrote the report and explained what the representative had told her, and his reply was, I cant believe she said that. I am not happy about this, that is not what I wrote in my report. Dont worry, I will personally take care of this. Again, the technician was civil and polite. After two days passed, my wife talked to the same woman again but this time she changed her story. She never apologized and said, It looks like in this report that the connections were loose to the control board. Since the oven is 7 years old and accounting for depreciation, Whirlpool is offering to you a total of $59. My wife said, Really, $59? How long is the life expectancy of these ovens? She told her, 10 years. My wife said, 10 years? Well, ours only lasted 7 and you are giving us $59 after we were almost killed and my home could have burnt down to the ground? She said, That is our offer.I called Whirlpool back and asked to talk with the safety supervisor and it was a woman again. Was it the same woman? It could have been the same woman my wife talked to, I was not sure. I asked her, When is it appropriate to issue a recall on a product? Our oven was defective at purchase. She said, You are the only complaint we had on this oven, so no recall is necessary. Yes, I said, but since it has been proven this is the fault of Whirlpool, I would expect at least a working oven from Whirlpool. I also told her the technician told my wife that Whirlpool should be bending over backwards for you, and she said, I apologize for the technicians remarks. I told her that I was dissatisfied and she will be hearing from me in the future. I did some looking on the internet and I found that KitchenAid which is made from Whirlpool had issues with a particular oven which was found that when the self-cleaning feature was used, it would heat up the control board, and since most people dont use the self-cleaning feature that often, it would take a very long time to develop. I thought that loose connections and heat are a bad recipe for disaster, and that quality control negligence and inferior components are to blame. Considering the past history and track record of class action lawsuits and appliance malfunctions such as the control board on their dishwashers, I believe it is all connected and related to my problem. Sorry but $59 isnt going to buy me a decent toaster oven, let alone a real oven. That oven should have lasted over 10 years and considering the possible damage and deaths that could have occurred, you would think that it would be in Whirlpools best interest to address this problem and bend over backwards for anyone who had the misfortune of purchasing this mickey-moused nightmare of a disaster-waiting-to-happen problem. Its not so much the money. What if a small child touches an oven as it conducts 220 volts then shocks into a childs heart to ground? What a ticking time bomb this oven is. As far as I am concerned, I dont want a dangerous oven like this in my home and Whirlpool needs to take some lessons in public relations.

I bought a gas range (#WFG524SLAB0) in July 2012. Two weeks ago, the oven stopped igniting. I called Whirlpool to have it serviced and they sent out someone from A &E Service Repair, who told me an igniter had to be ordered and it would take a week to come in. (He said he will order the part.) Then he told me to call Whirlpool again and schedule another appointment. Whirlpool sent out one of their techs two days later, who told me the same thing about the oven and said a part will need to be ordered. I told him it was ordered and he looked and said no part was ordered. So this was the week of Thanksgiving. Because the part would not be in until next week, no one could fix the stove until eight days later. So my Thanksgiving was ruined, no less with not being able to cook. So the service tech came to put the part on and the oven still is not working. He pretty much told me there was nothing he could do, for me to call Whirlpool again and have someone else look at it. I called Whirlpool and actually spoke to a supervisor who basically told me the same thing I have been hearing for two weeks: “We will send a service tech to look at the problem.” Keep in mind the stove is only four frigging months old. So here I am waiting again for someone from Whirlpool to fix my oven.

I would not, at this time, even really give this product 1 star, but that was the lowest rating allowable. We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door Refrigerator at Lowes a couple of years ago after our Amana was toasted by a close proximity lightning strike. (It got more than just our frig, but the replacement frig is the only item we have had issues with.) We even got the extended warranty thru Lowes for the unit. Shortly after the extended warranty expired we started having issues with the bottom freezer door icing up. We thought that possibly the grandkids had not shut the freezer. So we cleaned up the ice around the door, but the problem persisted. The ice cream in the freezer was rock solid, to get it out of the container you had to put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. The items in the frig were also frozen. So we emptied the frig and freezer, unplugged the unit and let it sit for a couple of days with the doors all open. We then plugged it back in and hoped for the best. It seemed to be ok for a couple of days then the ice on the freezer door appeared again. At this point, I contacted Whirlpool to see who was a licensed repair company in our area. I contacted the licensed repair service, explained my issue, they got the model and serial number info and ordered what parts could conceivably be the culprits. The tech came, the unit was frozen up, all the vents in the freezer were showing icing. So he removed the back of the freezer compartment and thawed the unit out. At the same time I mentioned that the ice maker had quit working, he found that the wiring connection was not properly connected and fixed that while he had all the stuff out. After re-assembly he ran all the diagnostic tests Whirlpool lists and found everything passed. Since the boxes of parts had not been opened they could all be returned to stock. So no charge for parts, as he could not find indication that any were needed. So 1 service call at $100 and it appeared that maybe the issue was resolved, not the case. Not even a month later, issue re-occurred. No grandkids had been there, no instance of the freezer possibly left ajar. Another service call, and by the time the tech arrived, since I had unplugged the unit and emptied it again, all the frost/ice was melted. $100 for a service call, tests all came back as nothing indicated as not functioning. So if I dont put too much stuff in the freezer or too much stuff in the frig it will run without freezing up for about a month. Oh and weekly put it into the defrost mode a couple of times. Now it has started making a tic-tic-tic or rat-tat-tat sound to the fun and games. If the noise is non-stop, it only stops when you open the freezer door. Leading me to believe it is a fan. (Correct, I was told by the local Whirlpool licensed repair facility.) I have spent the weekend, again thawing out my unit in hopes that the noise will cease. It is loud enough to be heard at the other end of the house. No such luck, so I spent an unproductive 1-1/2 hours on a call to Whirlpool yesterday. The larger part of the time was on hold waiting to talk with someone, anyone. Due to our unusually high call volume, wait-time is long today. Thank you for your patience. To retain your place in line, do not hang up. Finally, I got a rep named Karen, who sounded like she was almost asleep. She had very little to offer except, Im sorry you are experiencing these problems. I have no record of previous complaints like yours on record for this model of our product.Hello, I found 929 reports of the same issue on Consumer Reports. Oh, you cant believe what you read on the internet was her response to that tidbit. She offered to sell me a Repair Plus 1 Plan for only $359.95. A licensed repair service comes, repairs your unit and the plan gives you ONE YEAR of peace of mind. Lets see... I said... so you are offering me an extended one year warranty? Oh, but it comes with a repair first then one-year peace of mind. Seems that Whirlpool has moved into selling warranty extensions rather than fixing the issues with these Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerators. With what I have already paid for service calls added to this Repair plus 1 Plan, I would have invested $$$ enough to BUY A NEW FRIG that is not a Whirlpool product.Seems a bit foolish to me. So Whirlpool is not admitting that there is a design or manufacturing problem with these units. Even the ones sold just this year seem to have the same issue. They have not corrected this and it appears they have no intent to do anything about it. She did indicate that they had a known issue with the drain and that a fix was offered for that (a redesigned drain unit could be installed). But since I was not getting ice build up on the bottom of my freezer compartment I did not appear to need the redesigned drain unit. Her evaluation of my issue was that the drain did not appear to be a problem. So after a fruitless call to Whirlpool, oh and they did have my previous emails concerning my issues on file but did not consider my complaints to be part of a known issue, I have the local tech coming back to see if possibly there is something, anything to be done with this refrigerator. So another $100 at least, likely no resolution if the service tests all come up normal again! So when the tech comes, I am going to ask him to contact the service engineer that he is supposed to have the contact info for (per Karen at Whirlpool) and see if he can get any resolution to my issues by using that service engineer.

Bought a Whirlpool Cabrio. Noticed it was getting really loud less than a year into owning it. Called while it was under warranty. The tech said it was fine. Within the next year and a half it got so loud, you cant hear anything else in the house while it is running. Now it is leaking from the tub seals and the bearings are going out according to two service techs I have had come look at it. They say it is more expensive to fix than the washer is even worth. This is due to the parts that would be used to fix it are the same cheap Whirlpool parts that were put in it in the first place. They both said that these are not good washers and commonly go out about a year and half to three years old. Shame on Whirlpool for making such a low quality product and not being willing to do anything about it.

I have had my refrigerator for a few years now. When I first purchased it, it was because of the brand and the looks. As far as performance it runs just as good as any other less expensive ones.

Bought a Whirlpool washer and dryer in 2/2013. In 5/2014, the washer went out of balance, but corrected itself quickly. Since then, it sounds like a cement mixer during the spin cycle. It took one month to get someone to come out and look at it. Apparently the bearings went and the part alone costs $450! Add another $250-$300 for labor and I could buy another washer. We called Whirlpool, who were unwilling to do anything to rectify the situation, i.e., replace the washer, send a replacement part, give us a discount on the replacement part. We didnt buy the extended warranty because who would think that a brand new washer would crap out after 15 months... and theres only the two of us.Not like Im washing clothes for a family of 5! I only needed a new washer/dryer because I moved out of state and didnt want to move the ones I had. Regretting that decision. Its unfortunate that there has been a decline in the manufacturing of goods to the point that they can be considered a throw away item. Will NOT be replacing this with another Whirlpool.
