Have had Refrigerator less than two years and the evaporator seal is leaking and all the Freon is gone causing the freezer and ice maker to quit. Will cost $700 to repair. Found out it is a known defect with Whirlpool. Called Whirlpool for reimbursement and they refused, saying they do not know anything about this issue. This is interesting since it is all over the Web with complaints. I have been a customer of Whirlpool for 20 years and they have lost me and everyone else I know.

I purchased whirlpool Model# WFG540H0ES gas with convection. I purchased it because the price was $1000 dollars less than comparable ovens and even now the price has gone up $300 since I purchased it. I really wanted the luxe look at a discount price, a burner that you could lay a grill over, and five burners which it provided all of those things. I hesitated to buy this oven because the door fell off the last Whirlpool within three years and they refused to fix it so I tried not to buy this brand but it had the amenities I wanted for the price I could afford. I really like the oven. I like the oven the best because it really does make a great cake. I like the two large grates that sit across the oven. It makes it feel high end. If you dont wipe the range immediately grease gets stuck on the range and is hard to clean. This is what I like the least. Im ready to wipe on the weekend and its too late. It took me four days of internet comparison to decide on this one. The house is not painted, the cabinets are falling off the wall literally but I am extremely proud of this oven and it makes me feel affluent even though Im not.

Three years ago, 2008 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator for our new house. Since we have had trouble with the ice maker and dispenser, we have had it repaired twice, the latest on Nov 31, 2011. We thought that perhaps it was only our problem. This past summer, we, along with some friends, rented a house in Water Color, Florida for a week. The house cost over $2M to construct and evidently they chose the same refrigerator we did, and guess what? They have the same problem. Just this week we were visiting some friends in Starkville, Mississippi and they had the same refrigerator with the same problems. Evidently this is a design problem and a poor one at that. I would neither buy another Whirlpool product nor would I recommend Whirlpool to anyone. I thought we were getting a quality product given the purchase price of this refrigerator. Indeed that is not the case.

In the first year of my Whirlpool Washing Machine, the motor quit working entirely. Fortunately, the machine was under a 1-year warranty and the motor was replaced by a Whirlpool service technician. My big complaint with this washing machine is this: Even though you select hot water for the wash cycle, the machine has sensors in it that only allow the water to get lukewarm. If it senses the water getting too hot, it adds cold water to bring the wash temperature back down to 78 degrees F. Next time I will do my research and buy a machine that actually allows one to use hot water.

I had an addition added to my home in 9/2007, which included a new bathroom. A whirlpool hot water tank was added. This week, I woke up to no hot water, so I called the whirlpool customer number regarding the warranty on the model FG1F4034T3NOV. T hey told me the serial number shows its out of warranty, although I may have only had it since 2007. They also said there was a screen that needed to be clean under the bottom of, it that if not clean, would make it stop working. Since homeowners where not cleaning it, they have made a replacement door part that would fix it, and do away with the problem, but I would have to pay $35 for it. I asked them, since the serial number shows that the part has not been replaced on this unit, why not just send it to me, and I pay to have it put on. The person said no, you will have to pay for it if I wanted the part to fix it . Although my builder did not give me the receipt for it, thats just not right. If a manufacturer knows they are having problems with their product, which require a part replacement, and they have produced one, they should be willing to give the part to everyone with the product that request it. On top of that, this model has the left hand threaded thermocouple, which no one around seems to carry. I am totally disappointed with Whirlpool, and right now would not consider buying, or have any more of their products installed into my home.

I have a 4.5year old Cabrio washer. Ive replaced the water pump 3 times due to a weak plastic part which keeps blowing out due to pressure. Now, the unit is leaking rusty, black fluid from the bottom. I purchased it at HH Gregg in Indianapolis, In. Svs tech called. They have never seen this on such a new unit. Parts and labor will equal $400.00. Calling whirlpool customer care did nothing. I offered to pay the labor of $100, If they would be willing to pay for parts. Talked to a supervisor who offered to sell me an extended warranty costing $300.00. I am a stock owner in Whirlpool, no joy, dissatisfied with faulty product. They are unwilling to make this situation right. The unit is poorly made. I think a $800 unit should last longer than 4-5 years. In 2006, Whirlpool stopped offering a 5 year normal warranty on their units. Supervisor would not let me talk to anyone else.

I purchased a Whirlpool gas stove model #WFG540H0AH from Sears in March 2103. Since that time, the oven has repeatedly broken. After two major repairs, the repair company said the fas venue (?) suspect board was defective and needed to be replaced by the manufacturer. After 3 weeks of back and forth calls with Whirlpool customer service, the only solution they provided was for me to purchase a new stove at a discount with no compensation for installation, the gas connection kit, or haul-away of the old appliance. The original stove cost me $1100 including the installation, haul-away and taxes. The replacement option would have cost me $800 and still did not included haul-away, the gas installation kit, or taxes. Hardly an affordable solution. Whirlpool at no time addressed that a part on the stove was deemed defective.

Purchased the machine in 2008 for $800. I did not have any problems (wash 3-4 loads/week), pleased with the washing until July 2015 when the machine was spinning out of control and the machine moved approx. 1 foot across the floor (thank goodness I did not have it on a pedestal as it may have tipped over). I canceled the run. This was a fine washables load of 5 sweaters placed on a medium spin.Scheduled the Whirlpool authorized service tech to come out and fix. He indicated there is extensive repair required and would cost approx. $1800. And indicated he has seen this failure before and it is due to the plastic parts inside. Also, he has seen these washers last about 5-7 years before replacement. Wow, last washer I had was a Maytag and it lasted 15 years costing 1/3 the price of the Whirlpool Duet. Now perplexed on what to buy, called Whirlpool Customer Experience Center to register my complaint and asked if there were any updates to the product that would avoid this failure. The center indicated there are updates but they are confidential and did not know if this failure was addressed.

We purchased Whirlpool dishwasher Model #GU3200XTXB Nov. 2011. Two weeks later they replaced the soap/rinse aid dispenser because the rinse aid was running out the bottom of the dispenser. Feb. 2012 they replaced the handle which was loose. July 2012 the panel lights werent working and that was replaced. Feb. 2014 the soap dispenser door would not open, so the dispenser was replaced again. March 2014 the soap door would not open again so the computer board was replaced & the door did open. However, it stopped again 3 days later. April 2014 the dispenser and the board were both replaced. The rinse aid dispenser did not dispense leaving the inside with moisture on everything. So yesterday the dispenser was again replaced but now the rinse aid is running out the bottom of the dispenser. Thank goodness we purchased an extended warranty for $169 or we would have spent more than $1,000 on repairs!! The warranty company refuses to acknowledge that their lemon law should apply. There are 2 of us and we use it 2/3 times weekly.

Certain brands of dishwashers made by Whirlpool, including Whirlpool, Kitchenaid and Kenmore, are a fire hazard. Most appeared to be made in the mid-00s. My Kenmore Elite, model# 665.16293400, bought in March 2006, started emitting a burning plastic smell. I removed the door panel and found where the control board wires have been overheating and melting the plastic liner inside the door.Further investigation led me to kitchenaidfire.com, which details the models involved and includes hundreds of reports of fires from these models. I also searched saferproducts.gov and also found over 100 reports of fires from these models. The report logs are growing rapidly as it appears most of the control boards start to malfunction about five years in.I called Sears and they said that Whirlpool needs to do a recall. I called Whirlpool and I was told that they do not make Kenmore dishwashers, only some parts. This is completely false. I couldnt believe the representative was told to tell me that besides the part that is failing is stamped Whirlpool. These Whirpool-made dishwashers are a documented fire hazard and need to be recalled. I do not know what it takes, hundreds of fire reports have been logged and they are rapidly growing, but I hope that it doesnt take someone to be killed before they are recalled.

They told me they don’t send manuals anymore. She referred me to a website to download it from an online site. I told her I don’t have a computer. It would be easier if they can send me something in writing and this lady told me that they don’t. She asked- “and you come to us after two years? What have you been doing in the meantime? “And from then on she was very rude and she transferred me to another lady that was worse! I do not need this! And the fridge is very noisy. I’ll never buy Whirlpool again.

I purchased a brand new Whirlpool Cabrio Washer from Sears less than 5 years ago and am junking it! It has all the same problems everyone else has mentioned. I have had it serviced for faulty motherboard, unbalanced tub, broken lock mechanism. It had rusted out on the inside. Clothes are never clean and it constantly becomes unbalanced in spin cycle. We have to stop and rebalance every single load 3 or 4 times--or more if trying to wash a set of sheets or two or more towels. Cant leave the machine unattended for even a few minutes. I might as well be hand washing on a scrub board at the edge of a river! Waste of money and Whirlpool Customer Service wont say anything but should have purchased extended warranty! What a load of crap from what was once a reputable company that used to make a reliable product. WARNING--NEVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL WASHING MACHINE!!!!!

I am along with all the others regarding this last washing machine I bought - the Cabrio. I read all the instructions, did all that the manual told me to do and yet I have become more and more disappointed. Unfortunately, I guess we are all up the creek without a paddle, huh? There is my husband and myself in the home, so there isnt a ton of laundry. The problem has been that the clothes just kind of get sloshed around in a little bit of water, causing detergents not to get rinsed out. In other words, I have detergent streaks on the clothes. Presently, I have decided that I will probably have to re-rinse everything after the regular cycle. This has been so disappointing. We have always used Whirlpool machines. I have had two people in the past two weeks ask me about which to buy, and I have encouraged them not to buy the Cabrio because if they do, they will be stuck like me! The company asks me if I want an attorney to contact me. Who has money for an attorney? I just would like to have a different machine to replace the mistake I bought into.

We have just built a new home and have spent a ton of money on appliances. I so wish I had looked up the reviews on this Whirlpool Cabrio Washer before we bought it. It makes a very loud annoying sound through at least a third of the cycle (which I was just told by Whirlpool is the normal agitating sound). We have also had to have service out here twice in the first few months because some of the clothes come out dirty in areas that were folded over because of lack of water even on the high water setting. It also, ripped my favorite white blouse right in half. Trust me DONT buy it, you will be sorry.

We bought this on sale but we're really glad we did. I was surprised how quiet it was while cleaning the dishes, insulation I guess makes it quiet. The wife also uses Cascade liquid dishwashing soap which seems to get the dishes really clean. Rinsing before we stick them in probably doesn't hurt, but overall, we are very pleased. The dishwasher has an adjustable rack which we've only used a few times and the start is easy enough for me to even figure out, sorry guys, but yes I do the dishes sometimes. Hope this helps. We bought a Whirlpool Cabrio in April 2012 and in July 2012, it started giving problems. It wouldnt start. It started humming. We heard money-like jingling noises. It stopped spinning and rinsing clothes. I called for service. No luck with that. So in order to wash, I had to drag the washer to the back door (which ripped up my new floors) hang hose outside for it to finish the load. Well a few months later, that didnt work so the assistant where it was purchased told us to cut the pipe down in the wall. Now we have a big hole in the wall. My floors are ruined and we are out getting another washer. This one is not even a year old. That was a $750 loss.

I bought my Whirlpool induction stove several years ago. We normally use a toaster oven for baking as we are only 2 in our home. Last year I decided to cook a large turkey for the family. I threw the turkey into the oven and started cooking it. After an hour or so I decided to start cooking the potatoes etc on the stovetop portion. My potatoes started cooking and my element shut down. I did everything I could to get it going but finally resorted to the manual to see if there was a suggestion. The suggestion was that the oven had heated the burners too high and that I had to shut off the burners and wait for 5 minutes and try again to use them. The oven was only cooking at 300F. I waited 15 mins to get it running again. The stovetop went out once again and I had to stop cooking. Conversely Ive had the same issue with the oven. Ive been cooking in the oven and have had it shut down as a way to address the stovetop being too hot. How am I suppose to cook on this unit with any kind of confidence? I did an online chat with a rep today and they suggested getting a technician over to the house. I was told I could pay $129 to have them look at it. This is obviously a design flaw that I was never told about prior to my purchase and would never have bought had I known. Shame on Whirlpool!

I purchase a suite of Whirlpool Kitchen Appliances April 2017. My range is the slide in model. The knobs are on the front of the stove top. I 4 months in I saw that the paint behind the plastic panel where the knobs are was chipping. Also, the gasket in the oven had some loose threads so I finally decided to call the warranty. Whirlpool paid for the gasket to be replaced but Customer service said the chipping was cosmetic and that only covered for 30 days. I am so disappointed in this range and Whirlpool. My stove looks very used after 10 months. I followed the instructions on what to clean it with and how to clean so I know its not me. The paint chipping is crazy! How as consumers do we deal with this? This Range was a cost over $2000! and they give me touch-up paint!I purchased Whirlpool because I researched prior to purchasing my appliances. I thought I was buying Quality, this is not quality! At Christmas I had a pot of potatoes boil over and the element circle on the glass top cam off with cleaning. This too is not covered because its cosmetic. Ironically, my old glass top Whirlpool range did the same thing. That why I got a new one! I guess it still works. Who cares how it looks... RIGHT? Whirlpool Corp. stands behind its products. Bought the Cabrio Washer in June 2011. Lid cracked in October 2012 and was not covered under the Lowes extended warranty because they called it a wear item. However, our local Lowes store in Avondale, PA replaced it for us. In December 2013, the lid cracked again. I called Whirlpool customer service and they couldnt do anything. I called the Whirlpool corporate headquarters and was directed to a member of their executive staff. After explaining my situation, Whirlpool agreed to send me a new door free of charge and even pay to have it installed (which I told them I can do myself). Aside from the cracking of two doors, this washer is an exceptional unit. Its good to see Whirlpool stands behind its products this way, outside of the warranty period. I would guess that they always hear a lot of whining and complaining, but it seems if you explain things logically, people listen and are willing to help.

Whirlpool over stove microwave/convection oven model GH7208XRY-4 - I purchased this top of the line unit in April 2012 for a vacation home kitchen remodel. It wasnt installed until June 2012 and stopped working in May, 2013 just after the warranty period expired. The problem was with the touch screen panel that went blank and the fan/light control switches also failed. This unit has only had light use since my wife and I are retired and use it primarily for heating tea/coffee. I contacted Whirlpool customer service and they graciously offered to cover the cost of replacement parts but I had to pay a service charge of $125. The factory technician said the whole door needed to be replaced since the electronics were not readily accessible so it took about a week to get the replacement door which turned out to be the wrong one and needed to be reordered. The technician finally replaced the door and the faulty fan/light switch. Within a month the fan/light switch failed again but was still under warranty so it was replaced for free. A little more than a year after the last service the touch screen control panel began operating by itself changing screens and beeping randomly. This was somewhat disconcerting but the unit continued to work pretty normally until my wife placed a small plate of leftovers in oven to be reheated for 1 minute. She walked away to do other things and forgot about the food in the oven until we noticed a strong burning odor and found that the microwave was still running some 20 minutes later and had turned the food into a black mass of burned food and the plastic cover was melted and burned.I contacted Whirlpool service thinking that the unit was under warranty from the previous service but they said the parts only carried a 90 day warranty and my only recourse was to pay for another service call and purchase another door panel for approximately $400 or I could buy an extended service contract for $300. Needless to say Im not about to spend that kind of money to, at best, get another year of service from this inferior product. This is simply not a safe product that could have started a deadly fire if I had not been present to stop it when I did. I have probably owned a dozen microwaves from other manufacturers and have never had any kind of problem including a comparable GE unit that has been flawless for over 15 years. I am extremely disappointed that Whirlpool has cheapened its product line to such an extent but I suppose I shouldnt be surprised since I noted this product was made in China.

I had the bearing go bad in the tub after a few years of service. It cost hundreds of dollars. As an engineer, I look at this and it is a design made to fail. The seal design is inferior compared to old washers that had a shaft seal made to be on a spinning shaft. This is a rubber lip seal that is going to wear because it is using washer as a very bad lubricant! When the seal goes bad, and it will, the water runs down to the bearings and destroys them, and you have the replace the whole tub as a $300 part!

I have a Whirlpool refrigerator and it is the 2nd one in 12 months. The first one the refrigerator was freezing food in the fridge part and thawing food in the freezer part. After several times a technician came to try to fix the problem and arguments with Whirlpool. They finally replaced the refrigerator. The new one is now doing the same thing. I am contacting Whirlpool tomorrow.

I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio (wtw6600sw2) about five years ago. Last year, the motherboard had to be replaced. This year, it started to have load balance issues on the spin cycle; in other words, it wont spin without sounding like its going to tear itself apart. It cost $75 to have someone look at it, and to fix it will cost almost $400, and whats next? I spent a lot of money for this machine, and Whirlpools answer was to offer me a discount to purchase a new Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and my model does not have a recall, but models with same problems have been recalled. I will never buy a Whirlpool again!!!

Since purchasing original refrigerator 2 years ago I have multiple problems. Freezer was icing up to the point where drawers could not be opened, after numerous service calls, door was replaced which did not resolve problem. Refrigerator was replaced on warranty. Soon after light control circuit board had to be replaced. Next light control had to be recalibrated. Now, with the unit being approx. 1 yr old, rust spots are appearing on freezer door. Whirlpool rep advised this problem is not covered on warranty and would not provide any information as to what company contacts could be used to pursue the issue. Very upset and disappointed with product and customer service.

My comments are similar to all the other comments on here regarding the Whirlpool Cabrio washer: I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio 5 years ago and have been sorry every wash day since. I have to wash my clothes twice because the machine doesnt fill the tub with enough water to get the clothes clean. I have tried using the bulky setting for all loads to try to get the water level high enough to at least cover the clothes. This is a terrible design and the worst piece of junk. A couple of years ago I replaced my Whirlpool gas range because after seven years, the house was growing a gas smell that was becoming stronger. I called the gas company and they determined that it was the oven and not their problem. I called an appliance person who could not find the leak but charged me for the service call. Before I had him leave though, I called the gas company back and had the two talk. There was a conflict with their assessments. The service guy left frustrated. The gas company guy came back and again checked and told me that the oven is definitely leaking. He told me they use instruments, not soap, to determine leaks. With this, I was mad at the appliance company. After voicing my frustration, they were going to allow me to purchase a similar new Whirlpool freestanding gas range at a discount and deliver it for free. I relented and spent close to $600 for the new range. After installation, I realized that the quality was cheaper than my old one. The metal rods in the oven racks are thinner and less of them so they are further apart. The cooktop grates are already wearing and chipping. But the thing that has irked me the most is the burners. You cant adjust them to low for a long simmer because the flame goes out, not immediately, but when youre not around to watch it; and the whole house smells of gas fumes! I called the appliance store and they said that because I didnt buy an extended warranty and that a year has already passed, I would have to pay for the service charge. I called Whirlpool and they said that they have not encountered this problem with their stoves yet. Even while on the phone, I could turn every burner on separately and the flame would go out in a circular motion as I turned the knob to low. The only suggestion they had was to call my appliance company and have them look at it. I got nowhere and I was quite frustrated! These Whirlpool stoves should be recalled! Gas leaks are dangerous! I will never buy a Whirlpool again!

I was told to exam item no scratches, dents etc. I did that and had them put in place. I didnt get a chance to use washer until the fourth day. At which time realized it didnt work. Went over to store and they gave me Whirlpool repair phone number. Called and was told they only repair Mon - Fri 8am-4pm. I work every day until 5pm and off weekends. Told Whirlpool repair just that. THEN I TOLD by girl I was speaking to (Whirlpool repair) I COULD JUST RETURN THE WASHER TO THE STORE (Home Depot) MYSELF. I WAS FIT TO BE TIED. I told her, What should I do? Carry it on my back? I have never been treated so poorly. I just moved here from Florida, started a new job. I cant take a day off to have the washer that should have worked fixed. I will never purchase anything else from Home Depot if this is how Im treated, and Whirlpool their customer service stinks!!! We bought a new Whirlpool counter depth side by side stainless steel refrigerator in January 2012. We have had 7 service calls because things were freezing on the top shelf. They installed a new part and it still froze. They told us to do dumb stuff at Whirlpool like turn the temp up, dont use the top shelf, etc. The money they want for these appliances and you should put a band aid on it to make it function properly? Duh? The final fix was to duct tape the vents to allow less air flow. This appliance should have been recalled. I have since read reviews and it is an ongoing problem. Before buying, do your homework and make sure the other brands are not manufactured by Whirlpool. The Whirlpool hotline for problems is not that service friendly, they have an attitude. I need to replace two more appliances and they will not be Whirlpool. The repair service was great but they are independent companies, not Whirlpool. How do you fix a lemon? Consumers need to be aware of this. Whirlpool would rather spend money on repairs that did not work instead of replacing the appliance. If you want 7 or more repair visits and no results, buy Whirlpool.

At the beginning, I didnt care because I had warranty with BrandsMart. I had to call at least four times. But now, I bought the automatic control and it didnt work. For two days, I was trying to balance this machine but it is impossible since the beginning.I contacted customer service and they advised me to contact the repair service in my area to get a diagnostic analysis of the issue. Hello! I already know what the problem is after reading all these reviews! I cannot tell you how pissed off I am. I will never purchase anything Whirlpool. Two of the gas burners of my Whirlpool kitchen, after two years of use, are no longer working. I will definitely contact BBB as soon as possible. Come on, fellow complainants, let us continue to fight to get a possible recall soon! We all have the same problem because this is a manufacturing defect!

Whirlpool washer Model WGD4815EW1. Bought this washer just about 4 months ago and right away I hated it but was told by people that all the machines had gone to the lid lock and that the government had mandated the energy saving devices on the machines so the machine will only put just a little water in the machine. I have been VERY VERY unhappy with this machine. My husband figured out a way to bypass the lid lock mechanism. Then after washing clothes many times I found out in order to get my clothes clean I had to just set the dial to Bulky every time OR I had to wash the clothes 2 times to get clean if I didnt. Once we bypassed the lid lock and then I figured out where to put the knob so the clothes would come clean I was fine until last week the machine just would NOT wash or do anything... it filled with water and just sat there until my husband got the water out. I located a Speed Queen from an appliance store and I am much happier. It does not have the CRAZY lid lock on it. I realize that some children are apt to mess with the washers. But I dont have children anymore and when I did I had a laundry room with a lock up high on the door so they could not play in the laundry room. I dont understand why this so called mandate could not have been done in a way as to allow those with kids to have the option on the machine with a built in code device to set the machine so the lid will lock and those of us without children in the house to opt out of the code to set the lid lock. NO REASON why we cant have a CHOICE. As far as I see it is a way for the government to try control more where they need to keep out. The cars have been designed with safety locks for children to keep them safe, but it is up to you to choose to use them. Same principle! Now for the mechanism to make it so the machine will only put so much water in the machine to wash. Youre NOT SAVING any ENERGY or WATER if you have to wash the loads twice!! This whole mandated business with the newer washer machines is a huge JOKE on everyone. I will be searching out used machines and having them rebuilt because I dont EVER plan on buying another one of these newer machines. If enough people stop buying them the manufacturing companies can raise some cane with the government to get the mandate lifted. NO I will not buy another Whirlpool washer. I encourage some of you out there who LOVE a challenge to figure a way to change the stupid motherboards on the newer machines and create a great business for yourself because if someone else can create it you can recreate it.

This company has terrible, deceitful, and pass the buck practices. I purchased a Bravos MCT top loading Maytag washer from Home Depot. Maytag is now owned by or has been acquired by Whirlpool. First I was a little disappointed to learn that because I had previously purchased two Whirlpool made washers and got no more than six years of service out of both them. But from the day this washer was delivered it did not perform as it should. I called and texted with the hours provided for rejection of the washer and was told by a customer service representative that it would be replaced. The main problem was the spin cycle. With only a few clothes in it, it jumped all around and moved so much that it was sitting in the middle of the washroom. Thinking that occurrence was a one time thing, I stopped it; cancelled the cycle; and reset it. It finished the load. This occurrence was reported and simply fell on deaf ears. I was lied to and told a replacement would be made; it was not. I have sent numerous emails and have made several calls for more than a year now and I still have the same defective washer in my home. Each time I emailed, I received a different message from the customer service person. This company wants me to pay for a service call or buy an additional warranty for a defective machine they produced and refuse to honor their replacement policy— which they now say is the responsibility of Home Depot. Luckily I have kept every email and document I was provided. I am being forced to file a claim against this company to get their attention and to remedy this situation. The expense of the claim will be greater the cost of purchasing another machine, but it is this kind of behavior, on the part of A corporate giant, that is makes life tough for everyday people like me. Stay away from the Whirlpool name for washers—even a prior good name brand like Maytag.

Our long and tortuous experience began in 2013 and continues to this day. But Ill just give the headlines. In August 2013 we bought Whirlpool BTM French Door KFIS20XVMS11 from Lowes. Three years later we learned that model number appeared on the attached recall notice which had been issued just days before our unit was delivered in September. Neither Lowes nor Whirlpool notified us of this recall which described a simple repair to a part that was leaking so slowly that its effects took three years to show up in a destroyed floor and cabinet enclosure that will cost $2981 (and still rising) to repair. We called AIG, the company behind the extended warranty provider, and they responded promptly by dispatching a Whirlpool factory authorized service technician who attempted unsuccessfully to drag the unit from its alcove over the warped, erupted floor beneath. With the refrigerator half-way out of its enclosure, the technician stopped and asked us to sign a waiver of liability. When we refused, he announced that the problem was water damage and he jammed the unit back into place, leaving dents in both doors and the freezer drawer below. We went to Lowes, who strung us along for several months before sending an engineer whose report concluded that the problem was a manufacturers defect (The Lowes engineer and his associate damaged the unit further when they forced it back into place over a floor made more uneven when they removed the pieces of rotted oak shown in the accompanying photo.). Based upon the engineers report, which Lowes said it had no duty to share, we were given a 1-800 number for Whirlpool customer service, with assurance that we would be taken care of. Although we had to start from cold without the engineers report, Whirlpool customer service was initially very accommodating and gave us hope. For a moment, I thought we were going to get resolution. They assigned a case number and we supplied the requested documentation. That was on a Friday in March, 2017.Monday we were surprised to receive a sternly worded notice from the Whirlpool Law Department that a clerk there would be taking over our case. We realized that we were far from resolution. Why did the Law Department intervene? We dont know. We guess it may be because they want to avoid a class action lawsuit on behalf of possibly thousands of leaky refrigerator owners (Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air and Amana units were all among the affected). In any case, since January we have been monkey-in-the middle among Whirlpools various departments, Lowes various departments and AIG, with no progress. What do we want? We just want things back the way they were before our leaky refrigerator did its damage and before Lowes and Whirlpool demolished our good as new looking KitchenAid refrigerator in the process of telling us they wont fix it.Footnote: We purchased all new KitchenAid Architect series appliances in August/September 2013, including top of line cooktop, dishwasher, convection microwave, convection oven and a French door cabinet depth refrigerator. Every unit except the cooktop has required warranty service, including five expensive electronic parts replacements. Fortunately we bought extended warranty service from KitchenAid/AIG, who have been terrific to deal with on the parts replacements. I dont recommend Whirlpool appliances but if you are intent on buying them, I do highly recommend extended warranties. As for the value of Whirlpools manufacturers warranty, watch this space. Ill be back with the final resolution.

If I could give them zero stars I would. NEVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL GAS WATER HEATER! Our Whirlpool water heater Is 4 years old. Pilot light wont stay lit. A reputable plumber came out and said that the control knob is bad and to call Whirlpool to get part because its still under warranty. So I call and get nothing but a hassle. They tried to tell me that it was installed in a room that the installation manual says it not to be in. (Background here. The house was built in 1960. It is on a cement slab and its a prefab house.) The manual says Do not install in bathrooms, bedrooms or any OCCUPIED room normally kept closed. Now let me tell you where it is at. It is in a 5 by 3 boxed area with cement floor and walls to the ceiling with access doors to it and to the furnace which is also in this area. The access door to water heater is on the back side of a bedroom closet, access door to furnace is in a hall. So Whirlpool tells me that they cant give me the part Even if I pay for it due to some national fuel and gas code. They wont even tell me where I could buy the part... They said the only way they can help me is if I relocate the water heater or put in a ventless water heater. Our water heater is vented thru the roof of house... It gets plenty of ventilation. They wouldnt let me talk to a supervisor to complain... So this is why I am on here writing this review. I might add this is not our first issue with Whirlpool. Had a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator with ice maker. The ice maker didnt work from first day. After 3 techs and 3 visits it still doesnt work. Then also the compressor went out. If you want a better product and want good customer service then dont buy Whirlpool.Oh and one more thing. Our plumber also doesnt like Whirlpool. He said he had problems every time when he has to deal with them. He said its to the point when someone calls for services and tells him its a Whirlpool he just cringes. Now thats pretty bad. I just spent 4 almost 5 hours of my morning upset to the point of tears. With no results. Another note. I called my gas company. They said our water heater is in a safe place. If it wasnt they wouldnt be supplying gas to us. Live and learn. Done with Whirlpool.

I was very disappointed with their poor customer service, but above all, their warranty. They emailed instructions to run a test, which did not resolve my issue since I still run out of hot water halfway through my shower. Mind you, its only one person in the house for a 40-gallon Whirlpool water heater. I have replaced the heating elements and thermostat, and it is still not heating. I contacted Whirlpool customer service, and they are refusing to replace it, stating that the water heater is working. I will never buy any Whirlpool appliances again. Ever since I purchased your washing machine, it has sounded like a diesel truck or cement mixer. You cant hear anything over the noise anywhere in the house.Have had two repairmen out to look at it and they say, Thats normal. I have a friend who has the same machine and it doesnt make noise like this one. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again and hope this blows up before the warranty expires. Also the tub is falling apart. What a piece of ** this machine is. You should be ashamed to put trash like that on the market.

We purchased a new motor home with a whirlpool refrigerator. The refrigerator went out three months after purchasing this new motor home. We have had two expertise come out and check. Both repairmen said there was a leak in the cabinet and needed to be replaced. They called Whirlpool who will not honor the warranty. We are still under warranty but it is not worth the paper it is written on. Do not buy their products because their products do not work and they will not replace broken items from the manufacture. Will have to contact better business. Not material enough to hire attorney. This is what they count on. BEWARE.

5 years and 11 months ago I bought a 50 gallon gas, Whirlpool hot water heater with a 6-year warranty from Lowes. The 2007 water heaters were on sale, so I paid $329 for it. Within 6 months, I replaced the gas valve, and a few months after that, the thermo-couple went out and I replace that. Each time I called Whirlpool and got return authorization numbers for the parts, I still ended up paying for the parts plus labor. A year after that, the igniter went out and I had that replaced. Last year (the day before Thanksgiving), the thermo-couple went out again and I had to have that replaced - and it cost me for the part plus the labor - even though I had a return authorization number. I also replaced the water line connections/hoses to the water heater at that time. The customer service rep for Whirlpool told me at that time if I had another problem with the water heater, they would replace it for free - and the warranty was good until Dec 31, 2013 (this year). NOTE: Every plumber that has come out to fix the water heater and replace the parts stated that they see a myriad of problems with Whirlpool water heaters. They said the parts like the thermo-couples, igniters, gas valves, etc are poorly built and they replace them all the time. On Christmas Eve 2013 (two days ago), the water heater started leaking from the top by the valves - and so much pressure had built up in the heater the new water hose connections burst, spewing water all over the heater closet. I called Whirlpool the day after Christmas (today). At first, they told me they would not replace the heater as it was not in warranty and then I told them what I was told by the service rep last year. She finally agreed that my heater is indeed under warranty and gave me a replacement authorization number but she told me my warranty did not cover labor. I called Lowes. At first, they told me I would have to remove the old hot water heater myself and bring it back to the store in order to get my replacement. I am a 59 year old woman and I take care of my brother, a disable veteran. Although I am in good shape and healthy, I dont have anyone to help me get the gas and water disconnected and help me lift it into my Suburban. The man at Lowes agreed to bring out the the replacement heater and pick up the old one at no charge, but I will still have to pay $299 plus the cost of new hoses to have it installed. By the time the replacement one is installed, I will have paid a little over $1200 for a $329 water heater. I could have installed a tankless one for that, but I cannot see spending that kind of money right after Christmas. If I have one issue with this replacement, I will install a tankless water heater - and it will not be made by Whirlpool or any of its affiliates. My recommendation would be to steer clear of Whirlpool and their products.

I had this washer (WTW7990XGO) 5 years and finally had to replace it. It started with the touchscreen. No matter how often it was calibrated it was very frustrating to get it to respond. It would start dinging and going thru all the cycles at random times. Then there was the error code for the door lock. The door lock wasnt the problem, the surround was slightly warped and the door wasnt catching. Warped Im sure from having to literally climb into the machine to retrieve the clothes! Then a few months later it was another error code - the machine wasnt draining fast enough. It didnt drain at all. We had to use a water hose to drain it. After the second time with that, I went and bought a new washer - different brand, dials - no touch screen, and it has an agitator. Unfortunately, I ran into other customers in the appliance department who were having the same issues from 2 other brands of electronic washers. We all went back to as old school as was available.

Bought this Whirlpool washer (WTW5000DW0) to save energy and water consumption. It has been awful from day 1. Clothes come out with detergent (white marks) all over them. Clothes aren’t spun out enough to dry them. It takes FOREVER for a load to finish, I can’t imagine that this is saving me anything on electric. Waste of money. Do not buy this!

Just bought two new Whirlpool water heaters, $469 each. Not impressed. One of the MANY issues: water leaking from the top. Reason: before installing, if you look inside female threads, you may see a rubber gasket (heat loss valve). One of the two heaters of mine was missing one. This showed me what the quality of the joint was like under the gasket. I temporarily removed the other three (two heaters) to confirm what I saw: At the backside of the threads there should be a clean flat landing from which to the male nipple should tighten against (washer in-between). Instead, there is a disaster of a flimsey lip (washer-like) which is torn up and not anything close to flush. Bad Whirlpool! Bad quality control!

Worst purchase I have ever made. When I purchased this Cabrio washer in 2015, I didnt find bad reviews but how I wish I had. This washer does not clean clothes well. It has caused holes in clothing and towels. Often all the load wont even be damp even if using the deep water feature. The wash loads rarely fill more than couple of inches. Clothes come out twisted and terribly wrinkled. Sheets and blankets will be half dry and unclean. TERRIBLE APPLIANCE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Now I am stuck with a high priced washer I wouldnt even feel good about giving away. WONT FILL. RUINS CLOTHES. TANGLES LOADS. DOESNT CLEAN. DOESNT RINSE PROPERLY. DO NOT BUY!

I bought my refrigerator model GX5FHDXVQ0 in 2010 and after this short amount of time, the control board went out. My repair cost was $446.05 to have it repaired. The refrigerator cost over $2,000 and to have to spend nearly $500 on repairs after only 2 years seems way beyond reasonable. I have Whirlpool appliances - washer, dryer and dishwasher - in my home and thought it was a very reliable name. I am very unhappy after reading customer complaints about the very same thing happening to them. I can also see that the company Whirlpool is not very concerned with customer complaints. I find this very disappointing. I will not recommend their products anymore nor will I purchase any Whirlpool products.

I purchased 3 appliances (microwave, stove, and dishwasher) on 10/22/10 when they were on sale at Sears for my soon to be remodeled kitchen. I did not have them delivered until 11/15/10 until contractor was getting ready for them. They still were not installed immediately. On 11/17/11, in the evening, the microwave stopped working. I called Whirlpool on 11/18/11 for service. Whirlpool will not honor the 1-year warranty since technically I bought them in October 2010 but did not even have them installed in my home for use until the end of November or beginning of December 2010. Common sense tells me the company should honor the warranty. Are products being made today to last less than a year before they go bad? To pay for a service call and parts, I can buy a new microwave (but you can bet it wont be Whirlpool).

I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator Model GB2FHDXWB07 a little over 2 years ago. The first one did not work properly within 6 hours of being turned on. Every few minutes it sounded like the compressor was trying to kick on so it hummed then shut off. Best Buy wanted to fix it but after much arguing with them and Whirlpool they brought me a new refrigerator. Now, the same thing is happening. Best Buy has no record of me purchasing it and Whirlpool has no record of me registering the warranty, which would be outdated anyway (over 1 measly year). So, they offered me a Repair and one year warranty $329.95 which means Im now up to about $1500 for a basic refrigerator that has not even lasted 2 1/2 years. The other option to fix it is to pay a local company $90 for the trip and diagnosis plus parts and labor. That will be around $550 depending on how fast the technician works. I will never buy another Whirlpool anything. My washer and dryer also have had problems but I wont even go into that here. The one good thing is the poor girl who took my call was very nice and acted as if this is a regular occurrence. Good luck if you buy a Whirlpool. They are garbage.

After having my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator ice maker replaced 4 TIMES in 10 years, I finally found a permanent fix for it: an Igloo counter top ice maker for around half the price of a replacement Whirlpool ice maker. Unlike the Whirlpool ice maker, it makes ice. I promptly removed the Whirlpool ice maker FOR THE LAST TIME, and sent it to the dump, where it belongs. Goodbye Whirlpool! If that is the best you can produce, you will not receive any more of my hard earned money!

Bought a new Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. What a piece of crap!! I am using my time to write this review as the repairman fixes the latest problem. I dont have much hope because he asked for my assistance and is sighing and grunting over there. I had the traditional puddle of water to start. Tray underneath was cracked. Was actually fixed. Water and ice taste like crap. They said its my city water... ok whatever. No good ice and water - we will survive. The food in fridge was freezing on the low. Guy just announced he broke the new thermostat... Yes, the thermostat broke after a year. Will get it fixed, hopefully enough to hold up until I can find another new refrigerator to buy. Never a Whirlpool or any of their other companies. Time to do more homework. So glad for these forums. Ugh!!

This will be the last Whirlpool product I ever buy.

Not only has the unit destroyed 5-6 items of clothing, but weve had to have two repairmen out to remove socks that were sucked into the drainage pipe. I purchased a new Whirlpool washer and dryer (model number WED9250WR0 #WFW9250WR00). The washer broke after about 2 months. They took my washer and gave me some off brand one, because I purchased a 5 year extended warranty. They kept my washer for over 3 months, saying that the manufacturer takes that long to get the parts in. Its ridiculous! The tub, seal, and some other parts had to be replaced. It was shredding my clothing and my bedding. The first time they fixed it, a couple days later, it started making a horrible noise. The repairman came out, and a part had fallen off inside, so he put it back on. It kept happening, so I called them back, and he taped the part on!About 2 months later, the seal started shredding, and so did my clothing. I called again, and they had to replace the seal again. It still sounds off balance, and they said that was normal, because of the give in the floor. The day they fixed the seal, I washed a childs sleeping bag, and it shredded it too! I called again, and they refused to replace it, and they want to come and look at it again. My dryer lint trap seal also keeps coming apart, and I have gone through 3 of those in less than 8 months. They said they are just made poorly, so it will keep happening. I just want my money back, and buy a different washer and dryer somewhere else. I had an old pair that I bought, used, and they lasted me 5 years with less problems than these that I paid two grand for.

Purchased Whirlpool dishwasher and range approximately 16 months ago. Dishwasher must stop in middle of rinse cycle because the dishes always feel filmy and there is an inch or two of water in bottom. Must be bailed out by hand. Piece of garbage. Called Whirlpool and they can get us a service man from 8-4 (who waits an entire day these days) on New Years Eve. Next appointment is following week to examine and will fix (if it is their fault and for a fee). The last two dishwashers I purchased lasted 10 and 7 years respectively. Stay away if you dont want bad equipment, uncooperative service, and aggravation. Range I bought was OK but the oven temperature is always off 10-15 degrees from what it says it is. I honestly wanted to buy American but I feel cheated. Next time Ill try Samsung and see if they give a damn.

This machine, like all other water sensor machines, will not let you wash a few items that are lightweight without filling the whole machine up almost all the way. The reason being is that if the items are light, they will float in the water above the water level and the sensor thinks it needs to put more water in and even with putting something in to weigh it down like a wet towel doesnt always work, nor should you have to do this. You will waste more water in the long run if you only have a few items to wash, ie baby clothes, underwear, rags, etc. I am so disappointed that I had no other choice but to get this machine.
