Purchased the French door bottom freezer 29 cubic ft. refrigerator on Dec.
Purchased the French door bottom freezer 29 cubic ft. refrigerator on Dec. 22, 2012. Ice maker broke Dec. 2, 2013 and it has been downhill since. Replaced it and it broke again on Jan 2, 2014. Been waiting ever since for replacement parts. In the meantime, the freezer went out. Compressor went out. Freezer is as cold as refrigerator at 40 degrees. Lost food out freezer and food molds in refrigerator after a few days. Repairman came to investigate and determined the refrigerator is a lemon and needs to be replaced. Thankfully for the 5-yr extended warranty, it will be replaced, but it has certainly been a headache. Everything shiny isnt gold...

In 2008, I purchased the 40-gal. Whirlpool electric water heater to replace the original unit in my home that had lasted 14 years without issue until it died of old age. After about 2 1/5 years, it died and I was given authorization to return it to Lowes at my insistence. Now after another 2 1/5 years, this one has died. So far, I have replaced both elements, lost a days work, missed out on a date because I could not take a shower and now Im told I have to replace the electrical box on top which wont get here until Monday. Its Saturday and I havent been able to take a shower in my home for 5 days now.The first CSR (Crystal) I spoke with implied that since I had 2 consecutive failures, this was a site problem, not a product problem. Theres nothing special about my site, and my old unit made it 14 years with zero repairs. I would argue that since both of the units only lasted 2 1/5 years, that the product is substandard. I asked to speak to a manager but was told no because they were all busy (no doubt) and her demeanor was unapologetic and unsympathetic. The second CSR (Nick) I spoke with was very nice and at least sympathetic. That goes a long way in customer service, but I was still not allowed to speak with a manager.I am going to try and repair it one more time, but I have zero confidence in Whirlpool and would never buy another Whirlpool product of any sort again. If I get it working, and after all Ive read here I doubt that I will, I will only be using it for the time it takes to get a replacement of another brand. This was my first experience with a Whirlpool product and you can be sure it will absolutely be my last.

Good washing machine for 3 year. 4th year onwards your repair cost starts increasing. I purchased machine for 24 k. Now my repairs costs are 25 k. Each time the service guy comes puts me a bill of 7 k and above. The complaints to Mr ** goes to deaf years as he never picks the call. Their visit charges also are more and never give warranty above 30 days. How will you feel when you have paid more money on services ce than the product. I have supporting hills for all.

I have a Cabrio washing machine that is just barely two years old. I have already spent over $500 on repairs/service calls. The first repair was the drum which cost $300 + to repair. Typically, my experience with washing machines is I buy a new one after years of service simply because I want a more updated model. I just bought a different brand to replace the Cabrio as it has another broken hinge (one rusted out. How bizarre is that?) And it wont work on some of the choices for cycles. The first time I called whirlpool, they were totally unresponsive and told me there was not any problems with the machine even though the part I needed was on backorder for three weeks. I have never been so frustrated with a product I thought was a reliable brand, not!

Purchased Whirlpool set from Lowes March 2016. Washing machine is not worth the metal its made from. Clothes are dirtier after the wash. All white linens are ruined! Clothes wont rinse or spin dry. Whirlpool wont reply nor will contracted repair return. The last repairman told us we would be better off taking the clothes out back and wash with hose because the Cabrio is useless and nothing can be done to fix it. I contacted place of purchase (Lowes). They wont help due to not buying warranty thru them. Stuck with the worse washer ever... never again Whirlpool.

I have owned a French-door Whirlpool/Kenmore refrigerator for less than 3 years & all the lights start flashing fast when you open the doors. Anyone that knows anything about seizures know this can set one off. Turns out its a common problem with the LED lights & you have to replace circuit board at over $100.00 for the part, plus you may have to have it installed. Best to stick with a $0.99 bulb you replace every 5 years.

Purchased side-by-side model fridge, and within a month, the ice-maker froze up. Within a year, the relay switch failed, and caused the compressor to fail. What a lemon. Also, the clear bins in the door of the fridge side, have all cracked. Whirlpool says it is a cosmetic issue, but I think it is hazard and a material processing failure during their manufacturing process. They obviously would not cover any cosmetic issues under the warranty.I was one of the lucky ones, at this point, as the repairs were under warranty (expensive compressor, only by one week), had to buy an extended warranty to cover me in the future. I was only out the cost of extended warranty, and a fridge full of food. Lucky me. Customer service is worthless for any issues. I dont think Ill buy another Whirlpool product again. Buyers beware.

I bought a Whirlpool top load washer. In less than a month it had to be serviced by their recommended service repair. It has never worked properly. It malfunctions almost everytime it is used and takes at least an hour to wash even a small load. At first I thought I may have acquired an odd lemon. After talking with several friends who had bought the same Whirlpool model I found we all had the same complaints. My old machine could wash a king size comforter in 36 minutes... that was energy efficient.

2 years of use the wash plate went. $150 later, one year later wash plate went again (the wash plate is all plastic, the motor spline in metal total stripes the plastic teeth in the wash plate) I replace myself. 3 weeks later the shift actuator failed which cost another $60 which I replaced. Now the bearing is going. There are only 3 people living in the house. I would stay away from the top loader washers from Whirlpool h2 low series. Huge disappointment.

We bought Whirlpool Gold Series on July 6, 2014. Refrigerator, range, microwave & dishwasher. Our refrigerator - we have the repair company out almost every month cause the icemaker was constantly icing up and wasnt making the ice cubes single, would come out all attached to each other. So after arguing with Lowes and Whirlpool we were able to get a different refrigerator in February of 2015. Now in April 2015 we are having trouble with our microwave with the light flickering off and on when we open the door and sometimes it work and sometimes it doesnt. The repair company has been out 3 times for the same problem telling me that where the door closes are 2 latches that when not lined up cause this issue, so the repair company replaced the 2 latches and a month later it started happening again. So they came out and replaced the light socket. Now we will see how long that last. Now for the range which is the AquaLift Self-Cleaning which doesnt clean the oven at all. It was like I was back in the early 1950s, only worse. The baked on grease spots, you cannot get off at all. To me this is false advertising and the stores personnel lied to about all you have to do is pour 2 cups of water in the bottom of the oven, press the self-cleaning button and after 40 minutes of cleaning and letting the oven cool a bit you just have to wipe the oven down with a damp cloth and the oven is clean. Not so much!!!Wish I had all my old appliances back because they were made to work correctly. The new appliances suck for the amount of money you pay for them. So please beware and do research on the appliances you want to purchases otherwise you will get ripped off with no satisfaction for your hard earned money you spent on them. I have always had Whirlpool appliances and have loved them but these new ones we purchased are nothing but junk.

My parents 89 and 76 years old bought a Whirlpool fridge a few months ago.
My parents 89 and 76 years old bought a Whirlpool fridge a few months ago. A month after purchase fridge built up moisture terribly. Water was laying inside so much seeping on floor. We called, Whirlpool sent serviceman out. Serviceman number 1 put some kind of black tape in the door saying it was the seal. We were just disgusted over this and it didnt work. We called again, serviceman number 2 came out, said bad door, so he ordered door. Serviceman number 3 came out, replaced door. Moisture still in fridge, food isnt staying cool, and you can physically still see gap indoor. We called again. Serviceman number 4 came out and said fridge is not level due to floor in house. But nothing wrong with floor in house. This serviceman pushed on fridge said to my 89 year old dad and 76 year old mother and I quote, Put a piece of wood under this side of fridge. We will not replace this fridge. Now mind the fridge was delivered and set up by Lowes. So now this brand new fridge is no good and we have had no help whatsoever to fix this problem. So my parents whom have been married for 62 years with 5 grown children, 16 grandchildren, a 36 greatgrandchildren and 1 great great grandchild have promised none of us will ever look at another Whirlpool anything much less purchase a whirlpool appliance. Just for the simple fact of how a multi trillion dollar company will not stand behind their warranty nor name. We are disgusted with the whole situation. This is the worst experience any of us have ever had. So no I would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone for the simply fact of the way my parents have been so disrespected by this company. Its horrible to know this kind of behavior is even allowed for employees to disrespect people. The Whirlpool fridge is warped, damaged from the time it was built. The warranty I hold in my hand says and I quote after 3 visits and problem not fixed fridge will be replaced.Well Whirlpool has been out 4 times and has refused to replace it. This couple has worked hard all of there lifes, lives on a fixed income and has just threw away money on a Whirlpool fridge they cant use. So now we have are in the process of hiring a lawyer. Its the principle of Good Vs Evil with Whirlpool. How whirlpool has refused to stand behind the Whirlpool warranty. So Like I said earlier I would never recommend buying any product that has anything to do with whirlpool. Shame on Whirlpool just shame on them.

On October 29, 2009, we bought a new Whirlpool 30 gallon gas hot water heater to replace a Rheem we had for 20 years. We immediately had problems with the relief valve leaking, so we ran at the local hardware store and bought another valve. Next, we had trouble lighting it (husband was a plumber years ago) but a call to the hotline and we were in business. Now just over 3 years later, the pilot light started to cut off at will. Troubleshooting solved nothing. We called the hotline again and were given a part number, an authorization number and told to go back to Lowes for a replacement part. Figuring how our luck runs, I called first and was told there was no such part number. Trip saved. Now after reading all of these reviews, we have decided to cut our losses and buy another Rheem. You can find the Whirlpool hot water heater sitting beside our 2-year-old Kenmore HE washing machine (also made by Whirlpool) on the garbage pile. No more Whirlpool!

Oven igniter has went out for the third time, 1 broke knob on stove. Dishwasher leaves dishes wet after cycle. Fridge handle fell off, crisper drawer rail broke off, and a door shelf is cracked. I am a veteran and unemployed. What happens when warranty expires and all my CRAP whirlpool breaks a week later? Also was told warranty doesnt cover the crisper drawer. I purchased a Whirlpool Gold French door with the bottom freezer in October 2013. I had one repair done while it was still under the 1 year warranty, but by the time it was 18 months old, it began leaking refrigerant. I was told by the technician that the cost to repair it would be more than the value of the refrigerator, and the chances of the repair lasting more than 6 months were minimal. I had to buy a brand new refrigerator (not a whirlpool this time). I contacted Whirlpool customer service but they were non-sympathetic. Do Not Buy Whirlpool Products - Poor quality and high prices.

Purchase at 2014 and still working and nowadays, they dont make refrigerators, washer or dryers to last more than 3 to 4 years. The quality of appliances, really such since the manufacturers are greedy. And after the 5 year Warranty expires, only Lowes buys back the the appliances and Home Depot. Their Warranty specifies that you have to purchase from them to replacement of an appliances if purchased from them!??? Therefore I would not buy any appliance from them. A refrigerator, washer or dryer, you can take parts from each one and build a whole new appliance, which is very disappointing! TO ME THIS IS BAD BUSINESS FOR AMERICANS, not all people know this by experiencing this yourself and I let people know about my experiencing this myself, manufacturers should make products in The United States of America???

We purchased our Whirlpool Water Heater about 2 years ago. Three weeks after we bought it, it stopped working; the pilot light would not light. They sent a tech out to replace the thermostat and the thermocouple. Now, it has stopped working again. My husband and I have spent nearly 20 hours on the phone with the WP customer service girls and replaced nearly every part but the tank it self. We have not had hot water for over a week and are at wits end! My husband finally got them to authorize us to get a new water heater from Lowes after they told him there was nothing else they could do to help us. Ive read pages and pages of complaints from other people having this same problem. Why do they put you through all the torture if they know its not going to work? Its very frustrating! I called Whirlpool up and they sent their serviceman out twice and they didnt do much but reprogram it and both times it didnt do one full cycle. Now they (Whirlpool) are going to put a new control board in and hope it works. Whirlpool wants me to get another years warranty on the machine & charge me $100 and not do anything about all the money I spent going to the laundromat (2 months worth) while this machine was not working. My husband and I purchased a new Maytag top load washing machine from Best Buy in May 2017. On June 19th, a month later, as I am washing, all of a sudden the machine dies down. I checked everything from the outlet, the plug to the circuit breaker, and nothing seemed to help get my washer to start up again. Unfortunately I had wet clothes inside and the lid is one of those that locks itself and it would not open. :( I called Whirlpool/Maytag to explain my situation and could not believe that they told me that they only have 1 authorized appliance repair dealer they work with in my area and that they didnt show any available appointments until 4 weeks from now? WHAT? Are you kidding me? I could not wait that long, especially since I had soaking wet clothes sitting inside the washer.I asked if I called someone else myself and have it repaired sooner, would they reimburse me for the expenses. They refused to do that and told me I need to wait for their own authorized repair dealers. Talk about bad customer service here :( My husband called them back and asked to speak to a supervisor at Whirlpool and was told that it shouldnt have to be that long for us to wait for repair so why was I told that in the first place? The supervisor proceeded to tell my husband that we will get a call back in 5 days? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 5 days just for someone to CALL us? And then have to wait longer to get our service done? No way!We think that Whirlpool sold Best Buy a lemon and we are paying for it! Why cant they say that they will get in touch with Best Buy so they can deliver a new working machine and take this lemon back? We are not happy with their responses so we will be paying Best Buy a visit to see what else we can do. I already spent unnecessary money to go to a laundromat to wash clothes :( I would recommend that people stay away from Whirlpool products. Well see if we can exchange ours for another brand.

Ordered this two days after my son came home from college. He had to be out of his apartment July 31 2016 and brought 4 years worth of laundry with him. Monday my machine breaks, Tuesday I order this thing from Lowes Arrives at 2:30 on Thursday and as it is being installed I ask why the water fill is so slow. It is trickling out like a childs toy. Delivery man tells me the water is completely turned on. He hears this remark a lot from people who buy this model. I put in my first load of laundry, a small load of about 6 things that I am washing for my mother who is in a nursing home. They have that nursing home smell. I push pause as the machine is cleaning to unlock the lid and peek inside. Oh my God the clothes are sitting on top of each other not even covered in water. I then shut the lid and listen to the tiny slush of the machine agitating. At the end of the cycle they smell exactly the same. Dirty.I had read to use the deep fill so I rewash them on deep fill. Look inside halfway through and what do I see? Wet clothes piled on top of each other, still not floating in water. How are these clothes getting clean when they are in a wet pile on the bottom of the machine? I take them out. Still not clean. Not smelling quite as bad, but not smelling like soap. I then washed sheets, a blanket, and some clothing of my sons. Nothing smelled particularly dirty but NOTHING smelled like soap. The quilt was covered in hairs (my son and roommates had a dog) and soap residue. I had read this in reviews online also. I am wasting time since each load takes from 50 to 130 minutes (yes). I am wasting soap, oh but I am saving water - not really.Well Lowes has a 30 day return policy so I went down there and am expecting a GE machine with an agitator tomorrow, Saturday! Cant wait. The only one saving money are these manufacturers They no longer are spending cash on producing the agitator out of plastic, attaching it with nuts and bolts, or using gaskets between the parts. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK, do not even look at it. I question all the HE machines at this point. You need to use HE soap cause you cant wash away suds in a machine with no water. What a con - the whole thing is.

I have the same lid closure issue expressed by many consumers and whirlpool refuses to acknowledge this as an issue, only recommends purchasing a new lid at $225. Lid design is flawed, metal L bracket connects to plastic housing/trim/side of lid, causing glass to pop out and stress cracks between screws. We had the certified tech come out to evaluate and found that the main control board needed to be replaced. Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool no longer make this item and forwarded us to Core Centric solutions to have a new one built. After speaking with the certified tech who had been out to service our fridge 11 times he informed us that these boards in his experience have never lasted more than a year. We spoke with a customer service rep a Kitchen Aid and asked about a prorated discount on a new built in fridge and she said it seemed reasonable but after checking for authorization informed me I needed to have the board rebuilt at my own cost and that even though this typically takes about 4 weeks to build the fact that our family would be without a fridge is not Kitchen Aids problem. 6/20/2005-over temp/not cooling call (replaced defrost thermostat) 9/2005-over temp/freezer iced over in bottom (freezer decided and drain unclogged) 10/05-over temp/not cooling (replaced fan motor) 9/06-over temp/freezer iced over in bottom (drain line decided, kitchen aid had no advice on how to fix) 10/06-over temp/not cooling, ice build up (whirlpool recommended replace heat kit and bimetal) 11/7-over temp and ice buildup in freezer with leakage (adj to drain pump and defrost drain basin made) 11/07- over temp and freezer icing over (whirlpool sent out a new heater probe) 6/08-over temp and ice buildup (bimetal and foam block replaced) 10/09-over temp, lights and motor shutting on and off (replaced defective board) 10/09- fan making excessive noise (ice buildup found on evaporator fan)11/13-over temp ice buildup in freezer, burning smell from fridge and no air movement or cooling in either compartment (need board rebuilt as on 10/09)Board no longer available from whirlpool, must be custom built at owners expense and will take up to 4 weeks. D/t continuing issues and whirlpool not willing to help the customer with replacement I would highly suggest no one buy a Kitchen Aid fridge.

I bought a Whirlpool over the stove microwave. It was to replace a GE that was over nine years old. 40 days after purchase and installation the plastic started chipping and peeling. I contacted Whirlpool customer service and was told that it was a cosmetic problem and my warranty stated that I had thirty days of warranty on cosmetic problems. This was a problem because chipping and cracking didnt happen within 30 days. The chipping and cracking continued to get worse. I again called customer service because the warranty stated that workmanship and bad parts were covered up to one year. I was told that because it was over my stove that this was to be expected. I thought this was a dumb answer because had I known that an over the stove microwave would have problems from cooking I would have installed it in my living room over the television. I called customer service several times. One of the times I called I talked to a representative who actually acted as if she wanted to help me. She suggested sending an e-mail with pictures and gave me an e-mail address. I did this and got no response. I was getting close to the warranty expiration date. I called again and was told that pictures wouldnt work; I would have to pay to have a serviceman come out and write a statement saying that it was not cosmetic. The cracking and chipping is so bad that I cant clean parts of the door because the cloth or sponges catch on the cracks. The door on the GE microwave did not look as bad after nine years of use as the Whirlpool does after 1 year and 8 days of use. I am not the smartest person in the world but I know the difference between poor quality material and workmanship as opposed to cosmetic problems. Im pretty sure that if my wife put her makeup on and pieces of her face started cracking and falling off she wouldnt want to hear that it is not a real problem its only cosmetic. Bottom line is I am very dissatisfied with the poor customer service and warranty problems I have experienced. I will not buy another Whirlpool product and would strongly suggest to others to buy any brand but Whirlpool.

Ive had my Whirlpool refrigerator for 6 months and since then Ive had it serviced 7 TIMES! Im a person who works so every time my fridge breaks down I have to take time off from work to wait around on a tech. I just called Whirlpool to see if they can switch my fridge out and they said NO! All they can offer me is a $50 check and have a different company come out and check my fridge. Im SO UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED! I remember when I was a little girl my parents and grandparents would talk about how good Whirlpool was and I was so excited when I moved into my first brand new house 6 months ago. It had all brand new Whirlpool appliances but now I think they are a piece of crap because to top it all off my microwave broke down 3 months after I moved in and I waited over a month from the time I reported it to have the tech come out and replace it. I dont recommend ANYONE buy this brand!

I purchased refrigerator in 2010 through Sears. The freezer door began collapsing (like the air was being sucked out) and Whirlpool sent a replacement. I should have known at that point - they had over 20 in stock instead of making it to order with a several week wait as the rep expected. I complained again (out of warranty for the refrigerator, but less than a year for the replacement door) and was given the too bad, so sad - next question routine. Now the freezer wont hold frozen food. If I turn up the dial, I end up with frozen lettuce, etc. So much for Whirlpool! Im not so much angry at this point as I am talky - at the grocery store to perfect strangers, at church, etc. Im disappointed that Consumers didnt respond - they still rate Whirlpool fairly high - makes me doubt Consumers, too.

I have had my Cabrio for a year now and quite frankly, I find more satisfaction taking all of my laundry to a local laundromat. There is no soak cycle and when you have a kid in sports, that doesnt help. There is no agitator, and I am now convinced that they were originally in all washers for a reason. My clothes have all worn out and are shredding, not to mention my very expensive bath towels that I am now cutting into rags. This was the worst purchase I have ever made in my life and will never even look at a Whirlpool again. When I bought my house, I had a Maytag that was 35 years old and it did a better job than the new Cabrio. Should have stuck with that brand!

I cant use the oven because I have to unplug the stove every time to get it to stop beeping.

I am a single mother of a 5 year old and I take care of my mother as well. I purchased a whirlpool because I believed them to be reliable, boy was I mistaken! I am in the military and while on an 8-month deployment I got a message from my mother that the washing machine had stopped working. Here is my mother who cannot drive - with laundry bags and a 5 year old in tow walking to the laundromat to wash, only to carry wet laundry back to the house to dry. Thanks a lot Whirlpool! My cousin in Michigan tried to help my mother with the company and a repairman as much as possible from over the phone. Here is what I got:The washer repairman came this morning. He did the diagnosis but I did not approve the replacement parts and repairs. First of all, he said that the motor control board was bad. To replace it with a new board would be $503 and a refurbished one would be $490.03. If the motor control board was replaced, it might fix the problem with the user interface. If not, the cost to replace that would be $302.62.Apparently there are 4 boards that could have problems. He also said there was a problem with the start button. Anyway, we ended up paying for the service call ($129), but I thought the cost for the replacement parts was too much to justify when we could get a new one for about the same cost. He recommended that we get a Service Contract when buying something new because of the cost to replace the parts. While doing some research online, unless you purchase an extended warranty or have experience in 2M; you will be researching new washers every 2-4 yrs. What happened to built to last? It seems to me all this technology/circuit boards/computers to make things work have degraded the appliance quality.Im sorry for the bad news but I just wanted you to have all the info. Let me know what you think. I know the washer is only a little over 2 years.

This Whirlpool refrigerator is only 1 year and 3 months old (just out of manufacturers warranty). I am very happy that I bought the extended warranty. I have had to have 2 service calls in the past month. On the second one I was told the compressor needed to be replaced. I have had refrigerators that were 25 years old and never needed service and are still working. I have seen many of the same problems being reported on Whirlpool Refrigerators of this type. I recommend you steer clear of them. Also KitchenAid and Maytag because Whirlpool makes their refrigerators too.

This seems to be a very common complaint with Whirlpool French door especially after reading other reviews. Bought a WRF560SMY in 2/2014, from Lowes who installed it and promised good service for that first year. Whatever went wrong, they would take care of it, replace if needed, pay for lost food, etc. So far, so good. Now in 7/2015, warranty is up of course!!! And we are selling our home, so thought I would get an extended warranty as another selling point that would transfer to new owners. Well, of course, right after I purchased the warranty, the day after actually, the freezer started buzzing. Took a look and the whole back wall of freezer was covered in frosty ice. So defrosted it, seemed to run okay... For a few hours, same problem. It sounds like the compressor fan is scraping on ice, and it runs continuously. Defrosted again, same problem. So now it is time to break down and get on the phone, which I hated to do since I went through this with Samsung in late 2013, took me 3 months to resolve. Anyway, called Whirlpool Michigan office, which I recommend. They claimed they would cover repairs, and to call their warranty repair dept. to schedule service. THEY told me I was out of luck, as my just purchased warranty would not be good for 60 days. Back to Michigan, they told me it WOULD be covered, and to try again. No go, and this time someone with a middle eastern accent told me not only would it not be covered, but even after the 60 days, it still would not be covered as it was a, GET THIS!!! pre-existing condition! Excuse me, this is not a brain tumor, and Obama did away with that anyway. So tried to call Lowes, who sympathized, but could not help since the warranty I purchased was from Whirlpool, but they would repair if I paid. And be aware that most chain stores require you purchase an extended warranty within 30 days of installation, so out of luck there, but they were nice about it, told me go back to Whirlpool. So another call to Michigan, and FINALLY got a gal at their call center in Tennessee, who resolved my problem in about three minutes. All in all, 12 phone calls. This is a manufacturer issue. she said, not a repair problem. which is what the others were apparently not educated about. It appears, although she did not say so in so many words, that this is a very, very common problem, and Whirlpool will indeed cover condenser or defrost heater assemblies for 3-5 years depending on the model. So she is supposedly calling a local repair and someone will be out in a day or two, but will call us first. No call yet, so still nail biting. I would recommend to all of you with this or other issues to read the manufacturer warranty very, very carefully. There are some things in there that go beyond the standard year, and I KNEW I had read that this problem was covered beyond the one year, and indeed, it is. And also to call, call. Call their Customer Experience Center in Michigan (1-800-253-1301) and if your freezer is icing up, you will most likely get them to fix, depending on the age of your unit. If you dont get satisfaction with the first person, keep calling back again and again, and get the NAME of the person you have spoken with and tell them to document your call. This saved me, as every call I made came up on their screen so they knew I was getting frustrated. But, she assured me, this particular problem is ABSOLUTELY COVERED BY WHIRLPOOL, so obviously it is a defect they know about. Why they dont fix it at factory, dont know but will continue to look for that answer. They got especially cooperative when I told them I was purchasing a home that would need all new appliances in the near future, which is true. Use the Michigan number and keep calling and calling until you get satisfaction. This is a covered repair beyond the one year. By the way, I do not have my ice cube maker hooked up and never did, but still had this issue. With this being said, I am very unhappy that yet another refrigerator failed on me. The Samsung after only 3 months, and the Whirlpool after only 17 months. But I will follow up on this report when and if these repairs are made in a day or two ;-] we shall see, and let you all know. The repair service is Whirlpool certified, so will grill the guy they send and see how many of these he has to fix, and whether it really is fixed So stay tuned. Just dont take your time and get frustrated talking with people who turn you down right off. Be persistent, and plan on about a dozen calls and two hours of your time. Remember to take notes of times, names, what was said, etc. This is the only thing that saved me with Samsung by the way. After 3 months they told me they HAD NO REPAIR PEOPLE in my area, and sent me a check for the purchase price to buy whatever replacement I wanted, but they also made me jump through many hoops, send pictures, docs, all kinds of stuff. Think I can almost speak a mid-eastern language now as well. Not so with Whirlpool though. It seems most if not all of their call centers are in the USA. Good luck to all of you. On my way to defrost again so we can get some sleep tonight without the chainsaw noise, and will update as soon as something occurs here. Hope I helped a little. As a PS, the last gal I spoke with was so very nice and knowledgeable. I told her she should not be taking calls, but promoted to training the call takers, and did take the time to call her supervisors and leave a message at how very good she was, which we should all do if we ever get a nice, educated person on the other end.Updated on 07/29/2015: I promised an update, so here it is. After thoroughly explaining my issue, they promised and delivered a repair person who arrived within the time they gave. He was very nice, but even tho they knew what my problem was, the guy did not have the parts onboard. He said it may take a week or two. So I am defrosting my freezer about every 48 hours to keep it from totally destroying itself. To the guy who exchanged his Whirlpool for a Samsung, I wish you a whole lot of luck if something goes wrong, and it will for sure. You wont get anyone who speaks English, but if you have a Lowes warranty, you may fare better. I can give you details on what will go wrong and how they deal with it if you want. I would advise you to have the Lowes warranty, and not a Samsung warranty, and make sure you get one within 30 days, or you are out of luck with Lowes. Good luck to you. Will update more on my Whirlpool, will say the repairman was very, very nice and gave me his card to call if I had more problems I could not solve myself until the part comes in. By the way, I do not use the icemaker and never did connect it, nor with the Samsung. I pity anyone who has to deal with Samsung directly and strongly advise you to get the warranty thru the store.

In January 2021 I purchased a front load Whirlpool washer and matching dryer. They were delivered on February 6 2021. The first load we found water on the floor. I thought I didnt close the detergent drawer so I proceeded with the next load. Again I found water this even through the ceiling tile in room below. So with the next load I sat in laundry room to see what was happening. When on the rinse cycle water shoots out the front of the dispenser drawer.Contacted service, they sent repair man. He ordered new parts and I waited over 3 weeks for next repair call to find out that whirlpool had part all along. Repair man came again and still no resolution to issue. He was told to order same parts again - still no resolution yet again. I fought with Whirlpool till they said they would give me a new machine. Now fighting because delivery people wont uninstall 1st washer and install new machine. Today is June 28 2021 and I still DONT HAVE A WASHER TO USE. I havent even used the dryer yet. I have $3400 and numerous hours with Whirlpool trying to resolve this issue! Can you help? Whirlpool continues to string us along, telling us to be patient, theyre doing their best.

I am writing this complaint because of the very poor service of Whirlpool. My washing machine broke after 1 year of use. Luckily, I was on my 2-year insurance. The wiring fully collapsed and I needed to change the whole drum. I called Whirlpools customer service and they said that they would fix the problem after 2 weeks. They came on the day and found out the problem and ordered a new drum. They said they would fix it up on the 5th of December, and it has already been over 3 weeks. On the 4th of December, Whirlpool called me and said that the item they had ordered for me has been damaged. I am not satisfied by these products because it is only a drum (it cant break that easily). I cannot recommend this company to my friends and family due to the quality of the products and the poor customer service as I was waiting on the phone for almost an hour trying to get through.

Three years ago I bought a Whirlpool 22 cf bottom freezer (GB2FHDXWB02) & within 2 weeks it developed its first problem. Ive had service men out 3 times (on an extended warranty) for ice buildup and leakage, presumably from the icemaker, and the problem hasnt been solved yet. I tried to open the freezer tonight and the handle pulled off in my hands, nearly sending me head over heels. This thing is a major lemon!!! Dont get me wrong: I love the design! It looks good, keeps everything at the right temps & the bottom freezer is a great idea. Id buy the same design again if I could guarantee no leakage and a handle that wont separate from the door. Now Im having problems getting the repair service to come out here again, despite the warranty. Meanwhile, the fridge is leaking onto the wood laminate floor causing damage. I just replaced an ancient dishwasher & my old Whirlpool glasstop stove after its oven failed. I cant afford a new fridge too.

Whirlpool with four burner and the model that you self-clean the oven. It had all the features I wanted and Whirlpool has been around for a long time. Cost was right for my budget and it had all the options to it. I would have to move it out from the wall to find the model. Love the oven and the fact that I dont have to use caustic cleaners to clean it but simply have to wipe the dust out. One burner does not work and I will have to get it repaired. I shopped at a scratch and dent sale. The price was right and I could barely see the scratch and it had all the usual warranties. I need moderately priced appliances and if there were expensive features on it that I have not previously used, I would probably decline it. I do basic cooking and do not need expensive accessories. I can on my range and I have found the burners do not hold up well for canning. The burner I use for canning is the only one I have had problems with. That is the only problem I have had with the range at all. If anyone plans to can, consider purchasing the coil that is heavier to sustain the weight of the heavy canner. I would not be afraid to purchase Whirlpool again. My range is about 10 years old and other than that burner, I have had no difficulty. It is a mid-price range.

The drip hose had to be replaced 6 months after I purchased the refrigerator. At that time the warranty covered the part but the technician told me that Whirlpool was aware of the problem. About 5 months after the warranty expired, the same problem again - ice built up on bottom of freezer and water leaking out from the left side leaving a puddle on the floor. I called Whirlpool and they said warranty is expired. I tried to tell them about the defective part but to no avail. Had to pay to have drip hose replaced again. One year after that the main CPU board went and had to be replaced ($350.00). I sent the part back to Whirlpool, registered mail, hoping they would respond with a yes, this was defective. Their response back to me was, “warranty is over.” For a main board to fail in a $1500.00 refrigerator in less than 3 years was uncalled for. Two days ago I noticed the puddle on the floor and had to call in a technician and ONCE again the drip hose had to be replaced ($160.0). He told me Whirlpool is well aware of the problem and there is a Service Pointer out on it and the code is S38211. Thanks for nothing Whirlpool. The refrigerator was a lemon and you did nothing about it. I wish I would have read these reviews first. No more Whirlpool products for me! PS. I was a dedicated fan of Whirlpool for 40 years!

French Door Model WRF989SDAWOO: Horrible quality, worse support! We have a new French Door (not inexpensive). Within 3 months of owning it, we phoned in because the unit was periodically making a very loud, metallic humming sound. We were politely told that noise was normal, and that if the unit was working when the service man came out, we would be charged. A few months later, the noise was constant, and we noticed that the temperature was not stable. Freezer was set to 0, Fridge to 36, yet the thermometer was reading 20 (freezer) and 38 (fridge). We called in, concerned that it was failing. We were put on a schedule for 9 days later. We were told we would get a call the day before with a 2-hour window when the tech would come. That didnt happen. We got a call that the tech would come between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm (he showed up at 5:35 pm).We phoned in 3 days later to tell them that we were losing food (freezer was now showing 29, fridge 40). We were told (by both Westinghouse and by A&E Factory Service, which is Sears) that we should rent another refrigerator. When the service tech showed up, the first point of contention was that we had Whirlpools warranty (and had paid for the extended warranty) rather than Sears Master Protection agreement. Nevertheless, the tech finds that there is a problem with the evaporator coil, which had to be ordered from the factory. The tech was nice, and told us not to wait to be rescheduled, but to call him directly, and he would come the business workday after we notified him that the part arrived. Another week without a refrigerator / freezer, and now we have to worry about what the tech told us; these units are NOT of good quality, and have had repeated failures in the cooling systems.

Multiple issues with this two-year-old refrigerator. Do not buy! The exterior stainless steel doors rust in sporadic locations. According to a quick google search, it is a widely known issue that Whirlpool has not addressed. We have never used abrasive cleaners, only wipes that are made for stainless appliances. We use them on all of our stainless appliances. The fridge is the only one that now has 10+ areas of pitting rust. It continues to spread! What the heck?Secondly, the ice maker stopped working at 16 months. First it was just the auger that stopped turning. Which was inconvenient but not the end of the world. It still produced ice, but we had to open the door and pull ice out instead of having it dispensed. Now it has stopped producing ice altogether. We had the repair guy out today. Apparently, the motor for the auger and the actual ice maker are not receiving power any longer. The certified tech said it was either the main control board or bad wiring somewhere from the control board to the ice maker. For a small fortune, we can try putting in a new board. If the new board doesnt work, we will then know it is a wiring issue. If it is a wiring issue, we will have paid for a new board that was not needed, and we are out of luck completely on the wiring issue. Part of the wiring is sealed within the freezer door. A new freezer door costs nearly as much as the fridge. Part of the wiring is sealed in the back of the fridge. It is impossible to open the seal without breaking the fridge, because the back is a sealed system. But it does keep our food cold. Just dont put anything the top shelf of the fridge because it will freeze. Thanks for the 1 year warranty Whirlpool! You timed it perfectly! What a joke.

The ice builds up over two week periods and begins to leak onto the floor, requiring me to empty the freezer, chop out the ice and put everything back. The repair job is in the vicinity of $100. Check the net. This problem is endemic. Since this is a problem created during the manufacturing process, Whirlpool should be fixing this problem free of charge. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.

GX5FHTXVQ03 - Our whirlpool refrigerator/freezer has been leaking from the freezer for a couple of years (purchased in 2011). An ice sheet builds up in the freezer unit, then leaks out. We have gone through countless attempts to defrost and correct, disconnecting the ice maker, and a replacement part that accomplished nothing. I see online numerous people have experienced this same problem. It appears to be a design defect. Made another call to Whirlpool today. They are willing to schedule a service call for us... at our expense. Gee, thanks! Hey, but they are sorry about our warped oak hardwood floor. That sure makes me feel better. One year to the day after the warranty expired, the meat drawer in the refrigerator began filling with water. Two repairmen have been to my home and cannot repair it due to a design flaw. Also, I had to pay for a cracked bottom tray that happened during delivery which I didnt know occurred at the time. Whirlpool is now ignoring my phone calls and emails. We paid in excess of $800 last year. What am I going to do now? Buy another refrigerator and get rid of this one? I dont make that kind of money and I feel Whirlpool should stand behind their products. This model is not even on the recall list so that means to me that other consumers buying this model are getting ripped off also. The customer service people say sorry but wont budge on reimbursement. I was told they cannot honor my request. Whether this was under warranty or not, it still cannot be fixed according to the repair tech that was at my home. I need to find someone to help me before this lemon I bought decides to burst into flames. I want a replacement refrigerator, not this model of course, of equal value. I am not asking for the moon, just for something that works beyond one year. In this economy, we cant afford to buy a major appliance after one year. My car is still running and I bought that in 1985. Please find someone to help me. I thank you for your time.

Whirlpool refrigerator model GX5F-IDXVB07; S/N K23918029; 24.8 cu ft purchased for almost $2,000 on 1/7/2014. Before it was four months old I had spoken with store about it frosting up the freezer drawer several times. Finally found it wasnt level and drawer was hanging. Ok figured it was ok, even though I had other issues with it. I took the cosmetic issue of false height on door, which made it seem larger and drastically size reduced produce drawers which made it necessary it actually cut off celery two inches to fit in drawer and door nooks being so narrow that they only fit 3 small condiments in them on the left door and its a trick to fit thing in the right, but since they are deeper can fit a little more. Ok thats my fault for not actually measuring. But who takes condiment jars shopping? The killer is that a leak in the ice maker, lets water/ice to build up under the ice maker on floor of freezer drawer. It then freezes there and if we dont take out the drawer and remove the ice chunks by hand it thaws and runs out in the floor about once a week. The leak began to be worse in August 2014. I understand it will need repair. What makes me really upset is the refrigerator is supposedly a very good brand and I have had so many issues with it that I curse it regularly. A two thousand dollar fridge with this many issues and I am stuck with it. I guess I should have contacted company before warranty went out, but we would get it past a problem for a while, then it would come back. I am just sick that I ever bought it in the first place! I hate it and will never buy or advise anyone else to buy from Whirlpool again. Quality is awful. Looks good on surface, stinks for quality.

I purchased a Whirlpool bottom freezer refrigerator for my wifes birthday because my old one was old, ugly, rusted and didnt match. Since she likes to cook, it was her dream in life to have a stainless steel refrigerator with a freezer on the bottom. At the time, it was the only kind that would fit into spot. One year ago, first the ice maker leaked causing water to spill onto the floor. Since I am a mechanical whiz I bought the part for about $30 and fixed it myself. We were happy. After two years, the freezer worked, but the refrigerator part went warm. I had a repairman replace the control box for $100. It still didnt work. We called Whirlpool, and they said the warranty expired, but as a courtesy, would charge me $95 for a service call. That was not acceptable. They told my wife that the products were man-made and are prone to mistakes. I replaced the fan myself for $100, but drove a total of two hours to get the part since it was rare. It worked great. For one and a half weeks, we were happy. Then the refrigerator and freezer DIED. Only the light and the fan worked. We bought a old school used GE top freezer, but at least it is stainless steel. We lost $2000 in two years and the people at Whirlpool refuse to do anything about it because it isnt their problem. Worst refrigerator EVER!!! !

We recently purchased a Whirlpool fridge, model WRT138FFDW and are very disappointed with a couple things. First of all, the refrigerator arrived with a broken shelf. Although it was no problem getting a replacement, we found out quickly that it is very hard to balance things on a wire shelf. Water bottles and the like fall over. It is completely our fault for not noticing when we purchased, but just giving you a heads up that it will be a pain for you. Secondly, the sound of the fridge is very loud. It truly is driving my wife crazy. When we called Whirlpool, we were told that if they come out to take a look and the part is not under warranty, we would be charged $129. It is a brand new refrigerator, how can some parts not be covered??!! On a positive note, it does keep things cold and the color white is nice. I will not be purchasing any more Whirlpool items for my home. Bad fridge and customer care!!

Water was dripping down to the drum and sit there. If I forget to check and drain it by turning on in the rinse cycle, it wets the entire floor. And it sounds like a freight train after 4 yrs when it spins. My last washer lasted 20 years and it was a whirlpool top loader. Thought I might get that with this one.. but NOT.

I purchased my Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator from Lowe’s in Rockledge, FL. This was my third purchase after returning an LG Refrigerator as well as a Samsung refrigerator for having multiple defects! My Whirlpool Refrigerator purchased June 2014 has motherboard replaced that showed obvious evidence of factory board flaws when boards were manufactured. Top mounted ice maker drips so much water it fills my veggie draws with water ruining my food. Mold is present inside my ref now from constant leaks. Drawers were replaced by tech also due to ill-fitting design during first few months. Water will not dispense in door after one year, gave up using it. This is a horrible and very expensive appliance wrought with POOR DESIGN FLAWS. WHIRLPOOL does not care about its consumers. Their engineers must be some of the worst in the world. Our old 70-year-old kerosene powered refer in the Bahamas is still making ice, yet most modern day refs are like buying cheap home computers that constantly need service to keep them running. It’s a lifetime investment with $89 first service visit to determine problems then weeks of waiting for parts and second visit for the repair to be completed until next electronic malfunction. DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER (Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher)!!! We bought a camp with this dishwasher in it brand new. It has been serviced three times in the past year because the dishes (especially utensils) do not dry. The service company first said it was because I needed to use jet dry. What a joke! I told them I was using jet dry so they sent a service man out. He had to read a manual in order to try and figure out what was wrong with it. He then decided the entire motherboard needed replacing and he would order the part. He came back, replaced the part and it still did not fix the problem.I called again to complain so they sent another service man out and he said the drying air vent may not be working. They came back out to replace it weeks later because the part was on back order. Wonder Why??? I still have to dry the utensils every time I run the dishwasher. The interior walls of the dishwasher are wet even after running through the drying cycle. Either this dishwasher is a lemon or Whirlpool is selling a dishwasher that does not dry to the consumers!!! This happens all the time, requiring whole loads of clothes to be rewashed, sometimes more than once. This defeats the whole purpose of conserving water, which is reflected in our water bill. We also placed the laundry room on the second floor to make it easier for me with my disabilities.
