I am in construction and have had to deal with failed motherboards on new Whirlpool fridges that we put in some rental properties. Knowing that, when I went to buy a fridge for my own house, I went to a very reputable appliance company and talked openly about getting a fridge that wasnt going to be a problem. My sales agent and I go back always and he was very open about the problems with the more gadgeted Whirlpools so we picked a low bells and whistles French door fridge to avoid that. It stopped cooling at about the same age as all the rental units did and had a control panel fail. The sales guy and I laughed about how even knowing about the issues I didnt avoid it. Their company came out and fixed it for just short of 300 bucks. Two months later, it stopped cooling again. The service tech came out and this time hit the side of the fridge with his hand and opened a relay getting it to work, at least for another week. The tech told his boss that I must not have shut the freezer causing it to go into defrost mode. The third time it failed, we were out of town and lost all our perishables. We had the same tech come out and replace the board he got to work the last time with a whack to the side of the unit. That board should have been under a parts warranty for 90 days but I may have missed that with the slap repair working for the additional 2 weeks.Im trying to put this behind me but Whirlpool sent me an Extended Warranty Plan opportunity. I can now buy a plan on an almost 3-year old fridge. I am wondering if they are trying to give me the hook up on a bad product or just hoping to prey off my fears and cash in. The company I bought the appliance from has been first rate but their hands are tied by Whirlpool who has virtually no support for their vendors. Before buying a Whirlpool, consider a Sub-Zero. After you figure in the repairs, they arent too far apart in price.

Misinformation provided about their products - I ordered the Whirlpool 30 Drop-In Electric Range pictured in their literature with a gray oven door. When I had it installed, I thought it had a green film covering the oven door. It is not a film. It is the oven door color. It does not show that or talk about it in any of the literature. I would not have bought or paid to have this range installed. The green color does not go in my kitchen! I would sue them for misinformation if I had the money to spare! I will never buy another Whirlpool item.

I bought a Whirlpool French door, freezer drawer on bottom at Lowes 2 years ago for $2,600. The refrigerator needed a new motherboard within the first year and now that it is in the 2nd year, service is required again. The repairman ordered the part and came the 2nd time to replace the part upon receipt. Now it needs the 3rd part since it is still not working. I have a herniated disc in my neck and had to remove everything from the refrigerator and freezer to take downstairs to salvage our food. Now I have to go through the same thing again for the 3rd time after the additional part comes. This refrigerator is junk. I asked Lowes for a new replacement but of course was denied. Does anyone know a good lawyer for this type of situation? I never had a problem with an appliance like this.

We contacted Whirlpool different times. I hate this piece of junk refrigerator. But Whirlpool never cared. My husband and I both did 20 years in the Navy active duty and reserves. 20 years each. Do you think we could have gotten some response other than a worthless sorry. To the Whirlpool CEO when you ever get some kind of compassion please us a real refrigerator that works and has some real room in it. I hate this thing and I hate not having an ice maker that works. A french doors refrigerator that really works would be good. Heres our address **. Please leave it on our front porch. Will be holding our breath. Thanks for your support.

Right at 18 months ago, we bought the Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load washer. The last washer we had was the bottom of the barrel Whirlpool model and it lasted 8 years. So, I had no problem purchasing the brand. But now, our washer wont go through the cycles and we hare having lid lock issues. The repair guy said the lid lock was fine which I thought was good news because he said it would be $300 to replace including his service call. Now, it looks like our choice is a $350 motherboard, or a new washer. Whats wrong with this picture? I can go to Lowes right now and buy a used one (exactly the same for $399), pay $350 to repair my two-year-old $750 washer, or buy a different washer? Its hard to believe that a $750 washer is only good for 2 years.

I have a Whirlpool AccuBake gas range. I started by contacting my local repairman because my stove was out of warranty. The first company came out 3 times and replaced three parts, which didnt work. The cost was $297.00. I originally paid $598.00 for the stove. After they deemed it non-repairable, I contacted Whirlpool. They basically said it was my fault for not buying the warranty. I then contacted the BBB. Anne ** from Whirlpool contacted me and had another Whirlpool service tech come out at no charge to me. But guess what, they deemed it non-repairable too. Its a shame that companies no longer stand behind their product. Its very apparent that this is a manufacturers defect. They should replace the stove.

I purchased this Refrigerator Model #wrb322dmb, bottom freezer, 21cu ft. last year on July 3, 2015. In September I noticed rust spots on the top door. I called Home Depot where I purchased and they directed me to Whirlpool. I did purchase an extended warranty with Home Depot. Whirlpool did replace the top door. Thought that took care of it. Today one year and two weeks out of warranty, I again notice rust on both doors. Called Whirlpool. They said too bad out of warranty, not considering I had a previous report of this very same issue. So since I am very unsatisfied with this result and the fact that an expensive product is rusting, I decided to share to try to prevent someone getting stuck. Stainless steel is not supposed to rust which leads me to believe that it is not Stainless steel, but a Stainless Steel finish and not a very good one. So I am stuck with a rusting $1200.00 refrigerator only after one year. I have always purchased Whirlpool, but no more. They lost a 40-year customer. I have always bought American made but no wonder people are not buying American made any longer. TO SUM IT UP WHIRLPOOL STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES RUST! DO NOT BUY!

In April of 2009, I bought a Whirlpool over the range microwave, model # MH2175XSB-5. In September 2011, a small piece of the door fell off at the hinge. Pieces have continuously fallen off and now the door is splitting, rendering the item useless. It was purchased at Lowes and I had them installed the item. Two years of service plus installation come to big bucks for a piece of trash.

The stove is only 5 years old. The oven would not ignite. The gas was getting through, but theres no flame. Sears repaired it and put a complete flame and ignitor piece at a cost for a part of $132.00. I feel the stove is too new to have to replace anything. I am retired, so I do not use the oven often. I have only cleaned the oven one time in five years. It is very clean. I picked this stove out and paid $900.00, because I liked the style and everything about it. I feel you should look into this, and I should not have to pay for repairs in such a short time of ownership. The repair person said this stove already had an upgrade in it. Please respond. Does the whole heating element need replacing or just the ignitor?

I just replaced a 4 year Cabiro washer with a Samsung. The washer was making terrible loud noise when spinning. It sounded like a jet plane. The repairman said it was a bearing that was going out and that it was a common problem in the Cabiro washers. Cost to repair it would be $500.00. Last week, it finally started spewing oil from underneath so had to buy a new washer. I will never, ever buy anything made by Whirlpool. Whirlpool said it was off the one year warranty (duh) and they wouldnt help with repairs.

I purchase almost four thousand dollars on WHIRLPOOL appliances this month. From: HOME DEPOT 114 FEDERAL RD DANBURY CT. Received the items a week and a half ago 9/15/18. I was told to exam item no scratches, dents etc. I did that and had them put in place. I didnt get a chance to use washer until the fourth day. At which time realized it didnt work. Went over to store and they gave me Whirlpool repair phone number. Called and was told they only repair Mon - Fri 8am-4pm. I work every day until 5pm and off weekends. Told Whirlpool repair just that. THEN I TOLD by girl I was speaking to (Whirlpool repair) I COULD JUST RETURN THE WASHER TO THE STORE (Home Depot) MYSELF. I WAS FIT TO BE TIED. I told her, What should I do? Carry it on my back? I have never been treated so poorly. I just moved here from Florida, started a new job. I cant take a day off to have the washer that should have worked fixed. I will never purchase anything else from Home Depot if this is how Im treated, and Whirlpool their customer service stinks!!! So now Im stuck with a washer that doesnt work and a company (Whirlpool) wont accommodate their customer. (Whats wrong with this picture???)

My story begins in August of this year when my wife and I built a new home. The builder provided Whirlpool appliances in the kitchen. The fridge has continually tripped the breaker and after numerous visits from the builders electrician, we finally also had the Whirlpool service technician check out the fridge too. After the control board was replaced, and the interior light housing was replaced, it turns out the wiring harness in the fridge is faulty and is not repairable. According to your customer service team, the fridge will need to be exchanged. I have made numerous calls to the suggested numbers (866-698-2538 & 800-253-1301) to find out the status of the exchange. Each time, I have been told that my file is with the review team, and that if I have not heard from them in the next three or four days, that I should call back again. I have not been able to contact the review team directly myself, as your customer service team is either unable to or is not allowed to share those contact details. So I am relegated to wait and then call back again. I have lost track of the number of calls I have made, and the hours spent on hold because of the high volume of calls or re-telling the whole story. The fridge was determined to not be repairable on November 19th. I am not sure if this is the treatment you intend for your customers, or if this is an anomaly.

My very expensive Whirlpool refrigerator thats three and a half years old broke down before Thanksgiving 2020. I am not able to get parts until after May 18th 2021. After calling numerous times and spending lots of time on hold I was told February 11th by Whirlpool that they had the parts in stock and they gave me a price for each part. Then they connected me to the parts department where they told me they dont have two of the 4 parts that I need. The price that they gave me for the same parts with a lot higher than what they told me at whirlpool. Whirlpool customer service was terrible its as if they dont give a damn. They just dont care.I cant believe its going to be 7 to 8 months to get parts for a three and a half year old refrigerator. I have fallen down my basement steps where I have a small very very old refrigerator twice carrying food up and down. Spreading mustard and sour cream all over my carpet my stairs my walls. Not to mention the fact that I have bruises all over my body. If I were you I would not buy a whirlpool. Its going to cost over $600 for the parts replacements that is if I can ever get them. Im going to have to break down and buy another refrigerator. Remember Whirlpool customer service is terrible and you can just forget about getting the parts.

I purchased a Whirlpool 3 years ago. It was on the lower end for price so my expectations were not that high. It does an average job cleaning dishes so for the price I could give it 4/5. The pump and motor just went and had to be replaced. Almost the same cost as replacing the whole machine. The repair technician that did the work stated that this was a very common problem with Whirlpool in recent years. Of course this is not covered by warranty. So if you purchase a Whirlpool realize you are rolling the dice.

We purchased our first front-loader washing machine (Whirlpool Duet WFW9250WW00) just over two years ago. Since we purchased it, it has torn clothes and we have replaced the drum baffles twice (this would be the third time, but we are throwing the washer out), the drum seals twice (another place clothes can get caught). I had adjusted my washing (maybe I overfilled the washer, maybe I was using the wrong spinning speed), but every so often clothing would come out with holes or torn. The drum baffles must come loose before they come out, and clothing can get caught underneath them (I think that is where the tears occur). It has happened at least once a month and I had spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out where the clothes got caught and torn. Many people complain about bad smells from the washers (which I never had - I like the Tide with Febreeze detergent and every so often clean it with bleach or Affresh), but never torn clothing. I would really like to use a front-loading washing machine, but we are going back to the top loader - we cannot afford the clothing tears. I have seen that many people replace baffles (not many speak of clothing tears) and maybe in the future this problem will be addressed. But in the meantime, I would stay away from Whirlpool front-end washers. (GE makes some nice top loaders - and in 40 years of washing clothes and only owning two other washers, I have always thought washers to be an appliance that would last 15 years or longer with very little maintenance or trouble). I believe that I really tried to make this washing machine work out, but it got to the point where my husband did not want to wash baseball uniforms and other irreplaceable clothing in our washer.

Again, it got a problem. This time, he told me to change powder. I was shocked how a powder became a problem for its failure in washing clothes. Next, he told me to put a stand. After a long interval of 6 to 7 months, I got fed up and called him again. He told me it was not in the warranty. Its the worst service. Zero percent satisfaction Hats off to Whirlpool service. I bought a pair front loading washer & Dryer May this year and took Delivery in June. First problem was with touch controls. I should have Known then it would be trouble, they replaced it then we went home to Fl. - Aug. Returned in Oct - used the machine eight times total and it locked up with our Clothes inside in water. Called for service, was told it would be a week before someone could come, then was told after four days it was the mother Board and it would take at least another week to get our clothes out. Their Service is the worst I ever have dealt with. The whole house - we Bought Whirlpool based on the Maytags we bought for our House in 2004. Never a problem but those Maytags were Maytag - not whirlpool. I would never buy any Whirlpool Appliances again. It is sad because I try to buy American made to support our fellow Brothers and sisters in the work Force but now I will buy made anywhere as long as it works and has reasonable service. In 2008, I purchased the 40-gal. Whirlpool electric water heater to replace the original unit in my home that had lasted 14 years without issue until it died of old age. After about 2 1/5 years, it died and I was given authorization to return it to Lowes at my insistence. Now after another 2 1/5 years, this one has died. So far, I have replaced both elements, lost a days work, missed out on a date because I could not take a shower and now Im told I have to replace the electrical box on top which wont get here until Monday. Its Saturday and I havent been able to take a shower in my home for 5 days now.The first CSR (Crystal) I spoke with implied that since I had 2 consecutive failures, this was a site problem, not a product problem. Theres nothing special about my site, and my old unit made it 14 years with zero repairs. I would argue that since both of the units only lasted 2 1/5 years, that the product is substandard. I asked to speak to a manager but was told no because they were all busy (no doubt) and her demeanor was unapologetic and unsympathetic. The second CSR (Nick) I spoke with was very nice and at least sympathetic. That goes a long way in customer service, but I was still not allowed to speak with a manager.I am going to try and repair it one more time, but I have zero confidence in Whirlpool and would never buy another Whirlpool product of any sort again. If I get it working, and after all Ive read here I doubt that I will, I will only be using it for the time it takes to get a replacement of another brand. This was my first experience with a Whirlpool product and you can be sure it will absolutely be my last.

Terrible wash machine. Some clothes come out having never even gotten wet. The spin cycle ties your clothes in knots so bad you have to machine dry them because the wrinkles are ridiculous. I’m all for saving water but if your clothes don’t get wet, how are they going to get clean? Also can’t do just a rinse and spin cycle. I would rate zero stars if I could. Bought Model# wtw4800xq4 washer @ Lowes 9/01/13. Started having problems within months at our beach cottage unrented, our use only, no more than 4 small loads a month. Replaced circuit board, still same problem - stuck in rinse, never drains, wont spin. Another company came out, replaced solenoid. Thank God we bought year extended warranty. Quit again. Have to wring out clothes by hand, rinse out soap in sink. Another company comes, replaces shifter, breaks again. I go to Lowes, demand new unit. They send another company out, broke next day 1 load later. Got new washer from them same model. Within months problems start again. Now broken again. After new shifter 3 months ago, songs like rocks in coffee can. PIECE OF JUNK. CALLING again for service after Christmas. Absolutely disgusted with Whirlpool and the whole lack of admission of design flaws. NEVER WHIRLPOOL, new mantra here.

I dont take pleasure in writing this review and to the readers, please know
I dont take pleasure in writing this review and to the readers, please know that this is the truth without bias. Before you buy from Whirlpool or purchase their extended warranty, you should know: I am writing this review based on my personal experience. I purchased the extended warranty in 2017 (approximate) for three years. In 11/2018, our Whirlpool dishwasher, model wdt920sadm2, which was purchased with our new home in 06/2016, began having issues and was not drying the dishes properly. I called Whirlpool warranty and requested service.Approximately 10 days later, a repairman from Convenience Appliances Service Inc. (repair tech) came and fixed that problem (wasnt drying). My wife turned on the dishwasher the very same day and we came back and the floor was flooded with water. We believe this was contributed to the initial repair and has never happened prior to that. Fast forward, approximately 5 service calls or more later (not embellishing), the dishwasher is still not repaired and the technician can’t figure out where the leak is coming from. On 02/25/2019, I received a phone call from Ms. **, Whirlpool/AIG care team (AIG is the underwriter) and was offered $540.75 and I would be required to complete a “proof of destruction affirmation” form.I accepted the offer and received an email the same day stating: Thank you for contacting Whirlpool Extended Service Plans Consumer Care Team. Per our conversation, I have attached the affirmation of destruction for your dishwasher. Please verify the information, sign, and return to us. Once we receive the affirmation of destruction back, we will start to process your prepaid debit card. That card takes 10 to 15 business days to process and will arrive to you by FedEx. If you have further questions or concerns regarding your Whirlpool appliances, please contact us directly by calling toll-free (866) 931-7390 to reach a representative for immediate addressing of these issues between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET daily, or by emailing AIGservice@whirlpool.com whenever the need arises. Sincerely, Mable. U.S. AIG CARE TEAM.That same day, I received an emailed the affirmation of destruction form back to Whirlpool on 02/25/2019. I was impressed at the time that they reviewed the repair case history and made this fair offer. My wife and I began to look for a new dishwasher and canceled the future service appointment with Convenience Appliance Services because of the offer and acceptance. On 03/01/2019, I received a call from Convenience Appliance stating that Whirlpool contacted them and they are taking back their offer because their employee (Whirlpool) didn’t follow the terms of the contract. I called Whirlpool/AIG care team and spoke to ByonBera who stated that she was sorry to hear this complaint and would forward this to her manager for resolution. On 03/04/2019, I received an additional call from the Convenience Appliance Services Inc. and they stated that Whirlpool representative was not very nice to them and that they still wanted them to come out again to my residence on 03/11/2019. On 03/04/2019, I called Whirlpool/AIG care team again, and spoke to Tandy, who again apologized and read their company script and that they are sorry but still reneged on their offer. She then transferred me to John, who again read through his script/terms of the policy. I explained in detail that Whirlpool contacted (as per their email) me directly and they made the deal. I never called and asked. I completed the affirmation of destruction as requested and was promised $540.75 within 10 to 15 days by FedEx. John stated that he would have to kick this up to their resolution department above him to see if this can be rectified. John stated that this has never happened where the customer is involved (mistakes are normally caught before the customer is contacted) and that he could understand my complaint and frustrations. I received a call back from John on 03/04/2019 that Whirlpool will not keep their offer and that a repairman will go out as scheduled even though they made the offer without solicitation! Incredibly upsetting and disappointed!!! I have never experience anything even close to this from a major company like Whirlpool. It is evident that they don’t keep their word, that customer satisfaction doesn’t matter even if they are 100 percent wrong, and that their dealing are very deceitful! We since canceled our order for a new dishwasher and are now forced to wait for the next repair attempts again. If you get anything from this long-winded review, really think twice of making a Whirlpool purchase, or their extended warranty! Whirlpool really could care less of their customers and in addition, their warranty, in my opinion, is a scam. After this I, nor my family will ever purchase a Whirlpool brand appliance again. So please be careful and learn from my experience. Never again! Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves.

I am a fan of Whirlpool and I think the issues I have with this Duet machine is more because of the style but who knows. This is a front loader with lower water usage. It would have never gotten my sons sports uniforms clean. Never. The gasket around the front loading window frequently clogs so water doesnt drain. And perhaps worse, the drawer where detergent goes stays wet so it had gotten moldy and I didnt realize it. Now I remove the drawer after every wash so it can dry and I leave the loading door open as well. That just seems like a major design flaw and health issue.

I purchased a compact frontload washer. At first, I was getting a code f30, which took the technician weeks of coming to my home and changing different parts to finally accomplish that problem. After that, the machine would not go into high spin to wring the clothes out. So everything comes out soaking wet. After two different companies (Herbs Appliance and DanMarc Appliance which I got from my service contract) changed speed control, board, latch control, main computer, and top control board, the machine finally worked for a little while. Not long after, the machine is no longer wringing out once again. I am no longer under contract but had a repairman out three times to inform me this machine is a lemon. Whirlpool tells me I am no longer under contract, but my argument is this is not a new problem but a preexisting one.

Washer, barely 6 months old, purchased at Lowes. While my washer cleans and I am happy with it, my washer started making loud noises during the spin cycle. I called Lowes warranty service approx 9/26/13; tech scheduled for 10/8, over a week later. Diagnosis: stripped bearings; total bearings and all tub components must be replaced. Parts ordered to be delivered to my door. Cost of washer: approx $800. Cost of parts: over $1600. Washer cannot be replaced until they have attempted to fix it at least 3 times. Repairman returns on 10/18 to repair. Oops, large plastic tub component shipped broken from manufacturer. Reorder parts for repair on 10/29. Finally a repair BUT A&E left the large tub part saying they had no room to take the part. So now Lowes is trying to arrange to dispose of the huge part sitting in my home. I live in a condo so the part cannot be disposed of in our facility. This has been a nightmare to fix and while customer service was cordial, they were totally unable to provide what is considered excellent customer service. So whose fault is it? I have missed several hours of work to try to get this taken care of. I spent money visiting a laundromat for over a month. I am the customer and guess what that means? Nothing! Now my concern is getting that large part out of my home and whether to buy an extended warranty OR just throw it out if it breaks. Very dissatisfied customer! And no the warranty for this major part overhaul is not a year from installation..... my warranty still starts the day of purchase. Are you serious? My advice: ask your friends about their appliances & esp service if they received it.

People should consider themselves lucky to get 2 yrs, 1yr, 6 mos out of these pieces of junk. Mine replaced an 8 year old Bradford White that was originally installed when the house was built. Funny thing, we had the exact same BW in our last house. Same problem after exactly 8 years - tank leaked. Anyway, this Whirlpool 40 gal gas was installed by a professional plumber ($200) and ran fine for 6 days before the pilot went out the 1st time. In the next 10 days it went out 9 more times until it wouldnt stay lit at all. I would light the pilot and it would be out in 5 min or less. I watched for the error code the last time - 2 flashes which indicated thermocouple low voltage. This is totally ridiculous. After research - which I should have done before I bought - it looks like a total bad design problem with associated customer service nightmares and much additional cost to the customer. AND EVERYONE WHO MAKES AND SELLS THESE THINGS KNOWS ABOUT IT. Attempting to fix this thing - even IF labor was included - looks like throwing good money after bad. When are these companies going to be held accountable for producing cheap poorly designed products and then let the consumer foot the cost of labor and/or replacement. You can say all you want about less government but this is just a small example of what you get when you have less government. Doing further research, it looks like NO manufacturer of gas water heaters can produce a reliable product now. So now, Im installing a Bradford White ELECTRIC water heater. Thats and extra $250 for the electrical service that needs to go in. AND additional for the actual install by a plumber. At least Lowes is not giving me a hard time about getting all my money back for the Whirlpool since its less than 30 days since the purchase. I guess I should consider myself lucky it malfunctioned almost immediately. Total out of pocket on the initial Whirlpool install: $560. Total out of pocket with reinstall of BW Electric: $1000. My time spent on this mess: priceless. At least we will have hot water, even though it will cost more per month in electricity to do it. Thanks Whirlpool - stay classy.

We had to replace the felt around the dryer tube twice, replaced the dryer tub itself twice, we had the air flow stop, and now the heat has stopped. Thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty, otherwise who knows what these repairs would have cost. I think I got a lemon. I have had multiple repairs, and days of not being able to use our dryer.

This is the second time since I have bought my Whirlpool top loading washing machine, which was January 1, 2011. During a power outage, I was washing clothes and my machine lid would not unlock after our power came back on. I called the warranty service and they made arrangement for a repair man to come out to repair it, but the appointment was in two days. Meanwhile, I had clothes in the machine I needed and was afraid they would become molded and no good. So my husband opened the lid and I removed the clothes. When the repair man came, he was not going to repair the machine because we opened the lid. He was very rude, but after doing some talking he repaired the lid. Now, once again we had a power outage while I was washing clothes and the lid is locked on the washing machine and will not open. This happened Friday, March 16, 2012; my appointment for the repairman to come is Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Meanwhile, my clothes are sitting in the machine wet because we were told not to try to open the lid and wait for the repair service to come. I am very concerned my clothes will be molded and I will be unable to use them. I would never buy another washing machine like this one. Model number is WTW4800X, Standard/Ordinaire VOXr8ENA(3B). Date of purchase: January1, 2011.

I bought a brand new Whirlpool washer and dryer set -Cabrio- $1700.00 in 2011. It is by far the worst washing machine I have ever purchased, and I am 60 years old!!! It is now three years old and has been repaired at least 4 times. Long story short... after hours & hours on the phone, along with many threats! (By the way I had to ask for a manager two times up the ladder for this to happen as they just kept repeating that it was out of warranty coverage). I also told them that I was going to have one of my company trucks deliver this machine to Sears lot, along with a paid person to inform every shopper of my plight with this washer and the lack of service from Sears and Whirlpool! Whirlpool finally agreed to pay for the parts but not the labor on this most current repair. (This time it is the transmission!! In the past it was the Hub, twice. The gear case twice and the belt a number of times). I am now going back to Sears to request (that might not be the correct word) Demand, that they take care of the service bill for this machine. In between repairs, I have dealt with ongoing cleaning quality problems. This machine does not get clothes clean. I always have to wash them twice. This machine is loud. This machine does not use enough water to even dissolve the soap. So much for energy saving measures when you have to wash twice and still see soap and crud in the tub. Worst, worst, ever washing machine in my life!! By the way, I have an 8 year old Maytag too that I have never had to repair. Moral of the story, buy Maytag, or at least do not buy a Cabrio!!!!

I purchased my water heater from Lowes about 11 months ago. The heater worked just fine for about 3-4 months then a popping noise started like a drum. I called Whirlpool and got this song and dance story with several email telling what is needed to do. Whirlpool said it was a water knock and I needed to install some devices on my water line or a tanks which cost a few hundred dollars. I called the plumber and he replace the main control valve. Same problem again so I called several other times and a plumber came and said it was my water pressure in which his gauge was incorrect. I went Lowe’s to complain and they said they would check into the situation and call me. It’s been several days and no results. Still the same problem. The Heater is a piece of trash and would not suggest anyone purchase one. It a total piece of trash and will replace with a premier heater very soon. Requesting Lowe’s replace or will take to Small Claims Court along with reviews pointed here. By the way, they want $450 to install the items on my water line - almost half the price I paid for the heater.

I know that appliances are made to be disposable, but throwing away a $40 toaster after 18 months is easier to live with than throwing away a $350-$400 dishwasher. We bought a new dishwasher at Lowes on October 15, 2015. It is now May 11, 2016. The manufacturers warranty was for a year. It has been about a year and half since it was installed. Not very long for an appliance that one would assume would last at least 5-10 years. When we called Whirlpool to see about a repair visit, we were told that the trip to the house would cost $105, and the parts could go as high as $250-$300. So if you weigh the original price to the repair price, having it repaired is not rational, but neither is throwing away a dishwasher thats almost new. Its still clean inside. No soap residue or anything in the tub. In the past, by the time we were in the market for a new dishwasher, our old dishwasher looked like it had been through the war. It just breaks my heart to know that a company is so slipshod at making appliances that they wear out in less than two years. There doesnt seem to be any recourse but to dump a perfectly good, relatively new dishwasher in the landfill. We are leaving a very big footprint by doing this.

I bought this washer (model WTW7800XW) on 12/23/2010. Never happy with its performance from the beginning. Within the first 18 months, the lid hinge completely rusted and broke. The repairman stated that the hinges and glass lid would need to be replaced at a cost of over $400. We paid $899 for the washer. Instead of paying that much, not knowing if it would only last another 18 months, we removed both hinges and removed the lid manually to use the washer. After complaining to Whirlpool about the problem, they thanked me for the info so they could use it for the future. The latest problem to arise is the light inside the washer. The mount for the light was made of steel and has completely rusted away, so the light is just hanging inside the washer. Whirlpool needs to step up and resolve the issue with an extended warranty for these machines.

My oven had been temperamental since day one, then got worse over time. I do not use my oven that much so was not really worried or alarmed until a tray of cookies caught fire. It was set at 350 and jumped to 525 on its own. (I bought an oven thermometer to monitor) Minor burn taking tray out but all okay :-). Contacted Lowe’s where we bought it and they would do nothing (note: at this point the oven is 15-months old and out of warranty). Advised me to contact Whirlpool. Did that - they sent out a repair service and they determined it was the temp. sensor. It is now April 2014 and I am still waiting for the part (this all started Sept 2013). I have since talked and wrote to Whirlpool for this to be resolved and also asked that the range be recalled due to fire hazard at the least! When I spoke to them in December, they said they could give me ‘50% off the part’. Remember I am still waiting for that part, lol! After writing corp h/q, they said “Sorry, since we cant get the part why not have someone come in and take the old part out and have it rebuilt.” I ask you Whirlpool w/q would you be happy with that??? Will post any follow-ups... would love to hear from anyone else with this problem - model # GFE461LVS. Great day everyone. :-)

We bought our Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine and dryer in October 2010 and it was the worst purchase we have ever made. We had two worthless calls to Whirlpool and all the regular brain-dead suggestions that do not improve function. We have had a technician out to our home and we have the extended warranty. The technician stated that the machine will never function properly and Whirlpool knows this. The low water level prevents washing, rinsing. The problems with the washing machine are many and the required multiple washes and rinses make the claim for low energy usage false advertising. It leaves white streaks on dark clothes constantly and has residue on everything from sheets to silks, no matter the cycle. Theres not enough water which covers the clothes, so clothes do not get clean. The spin cycle is so violent that clothes are damaged. The soak cycle is a joke. Soaking means to sit in water and soak. This machine drains the water so there is no soaking. With this very expensive machine, we can use only one cycle; bulky items on the low spin with a repeat rinse. According to the technician, these complaints are what they respond to all day, everyday. There is no mechanical fix for this design flawed machine. If you are looking at buying this machine, dont! The machine has ruined lots of laundry. Do not waste your money or your time. I would like my money back. The Whirlpool company definitely plays dumb on the customer service calls. Its a non-functional washer as it damages laundry and has false claim for low energy usage.

I purchased Whirlpool Duet HT front-load washing machine with model #GHW9400PLO. After a year of owning the product, failure codes continued to appear. I have followed the direction under the troubleshooting page which said to cancel and unplug the unit. After doing this over and over, I finally took the top lid off to inspect the problem. A ribbon cable was torn due to the top lid rubbing against the lid and the drum. I called Whirlpool and this was not covered (go figure). I then asked for the ribbon cable and they said they cannot just supply the ribbon cable and that I would have to buy the user interface which is $191 plus a $35 core fee because they re-bill them. What a rip off. A ribbon cable from a computer store would only cost $10.00. After that repair the Micro Machine control went out which is code F11. Code F11 is all over the web because this is a defective part that Whirlpool should do a recall on but why do that when they can charge $310 plus, get this another $35 core charge because they re-bill them? If you are not mechanically inclined with these parts plus labor you could have bought 2 washing machines. But who in the world would buy 2 pieces of junk right?Bottom line is: do your research and buy from a company that will stand behind their product because Whirlpool will not! They know by the number of parts they ship out that that part should be recalled.

Finally, they had another one delivered in November. This one continues to freeze food in the refrigerator. Mind you, I just got it and they want to start again with service. I purchased a Whirlpool French Door refrigerator (G16FDRXXY07) from h.h.gregg appliances and electronics in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 3, 2012. It was delivered and installed on August 11, 2012. It functioned well for three weeks, and then temperature of refrigerator dropped to 25F. Vegetables and eggs got frozen. I made a service call to Sloan Appliance Service as soon as I was aware of the problem. In the 3rd visit, the thermometer was replaced after troubleshooting. After replacing the thermometer, the temperature of the whole refrigerator got higher than it was supposed to be. Refrigerator got around 53F, and freezer got 34F. All foods in the refrigerator got spoiled. In the past six weeks, the company sent technicians to my house to check the problem, and they tried to fix this refrigerator for 5 times. The situation got worse and worse. I have not had a functional refrigerator for 6 weeks. A technician came with a compressor on 10/22/2012 to see if replacing it could fix the problem. When he cut the copper pipe, he found that refrigerant was leaked out. There is no refrigerant at all. He refilled refrigerant without changing compressor. Because he thought the leak was slow, it should be caused by the evaporator. He thought it should work and last long enough when a technician comes back with evaporator replacement. It turned out what the technician thought was wrong. The temperature of both refrigerator and freezer did not drop to normal, 53F/34F. The problem persists. I called Whirlpool customer support line several times. The response I got was that Whirlpool would not replace for having manufactured a faulty appliance during manufacture warranty. They can only keep sending technician onsite to check and repair. For 6 weeks and 5 times onsite visits/repairs, this newly purchased refrigerator still does not function.

My first washer, bought in 2008, started throwing water and oil underneath while spinning. A service technician came out... I had to have the entire tub replaced seeing as how the bearings that went bad were in the motor/spinning assembly that was built into the tub. I moved in 2011 and needed another washer and dryer. I was told the problem had been addressed. Now Im having the same problem... the washer is so loud when spinning, you can hear it on the opposite end of the house with doors closed! Brand new Whirlpool dishwasher from PC Richards. Model #WDT710PAYB2. Dont buy one of these! In the store, I was turned off by the panel being on top of the door and not visible when the door is closed. I dont understand why anyone would not want to see the cycles and operation but my husband insisted that was a good thing so I agreed to purchase. Well, its horrible! I pressed the panel buttons the first time I tried to use it, and the panel switch is erratic and all over the place. For example, if I press Normal, the Heavy cycle button light goes on. When I hit start, all the button lights shut off. I finally get all the lights to stay on and hit start (after about 10 tries) and when I shut the door, the start button blinks and beeps! The dishwasher does not start. After many attempts, I got it to run, miraculously, for about 10 minutes. It emptied the detergent dispenser and left everything inside wet and slimy. Nice. I cant believe Whirlpool would sell such an inferior product. I have always been a loyal Whirlpool customer, but after this experience, I think its time to switch appliance brands. Now I have to be inconvenienced without a dishwasher after spending over $500 and wait for a repairman. Thanks, Whirlpool!

I am somewhat satisfied with my induction range. We ordered it just before Thanksgiving from Lowe’s a year and a half ago. We were told that we would have it before Christmas, which was fine with me. I don’t cook for Thanksgiving. Just a lot of Christmas baking. It turned out that Whirlpool had not started making our range until January and it wasn’t delivered until mid-January. It had been really good until about a month ago, when it blew the circuit breaker. My husband was cooking dinner while I was at work and it just blew the circuit breaker. No power surge in the rest of the house. No other circuit breakers affected. When the power was turned back on, two burners were out. As it turns out, the main circuit board is dead. So now the one large burner, a small burner and the ovens don’t work. There are two circuit boards for each oven. When it is working, it is a great stove. However when it doesn’t work, it is costly and takes a while to get repaired.

We bought a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator new. When the first one was delivered it had electronic problems. We sent that one back. The next one, same model, seemed to be alright for a few days then it developed electronic problems. My son discovered the problem was caused by a faulty door panel in the freezer. The panel would come loose and if you knocked it back in place the electronics would work until the panel came loose again. Whirlpool would do nothing about our complaint. Now the refrigerator section freezes things. We paid to have it fixed 2 months ago and now have the problem again. We will never buy Whirlpool again. I trusted Consumers Report when I bought the Whirlpool and that goes to show you that doesnt always work either.

The refrigerator is not repairable according to 2 different servicemen. The refrigerator just stopped making ice and not cooling all of a sudden. The problem seems to be inside the panel between the refrigerator and freezer portion. Its a side by side. First time I ever bought Whirlpool Appliances. To make things worse my Whirlpool oven does not work either. Even worse, the Microwave pretty much popped and never worked again. A Whirlpool microwave. The only thing still working is the Whirlpool dishwasher but I wonder for how long. Ive talked to Whirlpool and they said I only had a 1 yr warranty and they could not help. I am writing to their corporate office to complain. I have an old Maytag refrigerator that still works and puts out ice in my garage. I went to look at Maytag appliances and just found out that in 2006 Whirlpool took over Maytag. So I will not ever, ever buy another Whirlpool or Maytag again.

Purchased both Cabrio washer (wtw6200sw2) & dyer brand new in 2007 for $1200. Within 4 years the motherboard went out. Whirlpool didnt want to fix it. They said it was past warranty. After many complaints to corporate, they sent someone out to repair it for $496 (they paid). Repairman said these models had motherboards from Japan & Whirlpool was aware of the many issues, but wouldnt do a recall. 2009, the springs went out, 2011 F codes began to appear. Clothes dont get clean; not enough water. 2014 & 2015 DU & DL codes appear. Now I need a new Lid latch assembly. These washing machines are not worth buying. Never again will I buy another Whirlpool!! My mom had an old Kenmore that lasted 20 years and only needed a replacement belt. No more fancy high end washers for me!

Whirlpool WRF992FIFM00 - Purchased new April 2017. Its October now. Service has been called 7 times so far. Ice maker has not worked since day 1. Fridge leaked all over the interior around the third month. Compressor went out in 5th month. Compressor replaced 2x so far. Every component piece was replaced on 5th month. Still no ice. As I write this compressor getting ready to go out yet again. Paid almost $3000 for this piece of crap. On first name basis with technician. He tells me that his guys work on this particular refrigerator CONSTANTLY. So far I have lost over $1700 in food and wages (leaving work to meet technician). Currently battling Whirlpool. My next step will be legal action if they do not refund or replace this stainless piece of garbage.

We purchased our Whirlpool Duet model WFW9150WW01 13 months ago. The warranty was up at the one year mark. We chose not to purchase the extended service plan. After all, a washer should last at least five years right? Wrong! The front seal has gone bad. It is an $85 part plus shipping, plus hours of my time. So, I purchased a product that is supposed to conserve water and instead I am having to purchase a petroleum-based product (the rubber seal), as it would seem, every year or so! These companies have us snowed with the whole conservation bull! CFLs, High Effeciency, Bio Fuels, etc., its all a hoax! And it is a hoax at our expense. Does anyone just produce a good product anymore? Oh yeah, I forgot... Japan does! Our economy continues to go to hell while other countries are coming online. Water filtration unit was leaking only when someone got water. It pooled into the bottom of fridge and ran out under the fridge and because of the slope of the floor was running back towards the wall. We didnt notice until our laminate wood flooring was starting to swell up. It was probably leaking since the day we bought fridge brand new, but took us 4 months to notice. Whirlpool said they will not fix our flooring, only the fridge. We had to make a homeowners claim which we did. When the contractor moved the fridge back after replacing all flooring it starting leaking from the ice maker unit. Only when the ice tray filled it would gush out water. Our flooring is now ruined a 2nd time and Whirlpool will not fix the floor. Repairman said that Whirlpool used rigid parts in the water and ice maker units and tons of people are having the same problem. Since there is no flexibility in these parts they break when the fridge is moved. Whirlpool sucks and I am fighting with them and Lowes to get this fridge replaced with a non Whirlpool appliance. Called Whirlpool customer care for help with identifying make and model number of a slide-in, ceramic cook-top range (one of their popular brands). The representative was cordial, patient and very helpful when it came to giving me directions on how to locate make/model information on the unit. That was until I let her know about a recent problem with the stove. The edge of the cooktop is much too sharp! My hand got cut while wiping down the stove top/adjacent counter. Although Ive had the stove for a while, Id never had that happen before; thats probably because I used a thin rag this time around to do the cleaning. I asked the rep if anyone else had reported getting cut by the stove top. She said, No. I let her know that my goal was to just them know about the situation, because such a sharp edge on a cooktop is a safety issue. She disagreed. But what could or should she have said? In all fairness, it came down to balancing loyalty to the company with genuine care for the customer.I do appreciate how kind she was in communicating with me, but am very displeased that once Id shared about the problem she seemed rather dismissive of the situation. How could the risk of being cut NOT be a product safety issue??? If you visit the Consumer Products Safety Commission website, you can see where risk of laceration is a reason some products are recalled. Based on that understanding, I would say that sharp edges on a ceramic cooktop IS a safety issue!

Our Whirlpool dryer broke less than 3 months after we bought it. We called Whirlpool and spent more than 2 hours on the phone. They sent someone out and that person told us he couldnt fix the part that was broken. He gave us a phone number to call and we called and spent another hour on the phone after which we were told to call Whirlpool back. We called them on 3 separate days and spent hours on the phone trying to contact real people. After another week (during which time the dryer went out of warranty) we had to call someone to fix it. After that we spend a month calling and emailing Whirlpool to get reimbursed for the almost $400 we spent fixing it. No luck. We were told that it was out of warranty and we didnt use a Whirlpool technician. I was hung up on, given the runaround through phone menus, continually told it wasnt the correct department, and finally that Whirlpool doesnt cover it. Bottom line is...never buy Whirlpool.

I purchased a Whirlpool Microwave GMH6185XVQ1 on 7/2010 for kitchen remodel. It needed a magnetron repair just after one year warranty ran out. I called Whirlpool and they agreed to repair. Whirlpool sent me an offer for an extended contract. I purchased it. Since microwave was out of warranty at time of contract purchase, I was told there would be a 60-day waiting period. Microwave broke again on 3/2012. I waited until extended contract was in effect. I was told since microwave broke before contract was valid, I would have to pay out of pocket to repair, then contract would be valid after that. It appears (per internet research) these microwaves have bad magnetrons that need frequent repair. I wrote to BBB to complain.

We purchased what we thought was a top of the line, high quality washer and dryer, Whirlpool WTW7800XWO approximately a year and a half ago. It has the glass top with a plastic frame, which has just cracked at the hinge location. I went online to read reviews and then called the Whirlpool Customer Service number, 1-800-253-1301 for assistance. I was thinking after reading the reviews that this should be a simple recall type discussion; however, I got completely the opposite! I asked if this was a common problem and the response I got was, Well, we have had people sit on them, stand on them and fall on them, so they have broken for all kinds of reasons! I was flabbergasted! Of course, I was then told it was out of warranty but he could sell me a new one for $219.38 plus tax plus shipping for a grand total of $261.17. It is clear that Whirlpool does not allow their employees access to the complaint line. This must be kept top secret because the only people that know are the thousands of people that have called in to complain, and once you listen to a complaint, you are fired so you cant hear another one and figure out this is a common problem the consumers are getting screwed on! Every appliance in my house is a Whirlpool and the first to go was the washer after 11 years, which is when we bought this new set. When we have to replace the rest, dishwasher, fridge, etc., it will definitely not be Whirlpool unless they do something about known problems and help the consumer out, especially in an economy like this because bare minimum word of mouth advertising is the worst kind to have! I will now see if someone from Whirlpool reaches out to me or not! In the meantime, I will go to Change.org and sign the petition, never again to purchase a Whirlpool product!

I have had my Cabrio for a year now and quite frankly, I find more satisfaction taking all of my laundry to a local laundromat. There is no soak cycle and when you have a kid in sports, that doesnt help. There is no agitator, and I am now convinced that they were originally in all washers for a reason. My clothes have all worn out and are shredding, not to mention my very expensive bath towels that I am now cutting into rags. This was the worst purchase I have ever made in my life and will never even look at a Whirlpool again. When I bought my house, I had a Maytag that was 35 years old and it did a better job than the new Cabrio. Should have stuck with that brand!

Burners always needed replacing and now do not work anymore - Whirlpool range looks nice, but very expensive to maintain. The burners constantly needed replacing, they do not heat up. I got a repair technician to look at it. He replaced the parts that the burners hook into. Now they do not heat up at all. Well, one of four barely boils water. The oven still works, oh great. The thing is only 7 years old. I have had ovens that lasted 20+ years at my dads house or 15 years at another house I lived in. With all the negative comments and the repair guy who tried to fix it, I think it is time to get the kids Easy-Bake Ovens out of the storage or buy a new range. Obviously, it will not be a Whirlpool. I will never touch the premier Whirlpool Brand Again. This is the two door fridge + drawer freezer, model GI7FVCXWY0After about a year, and I think it lasted this long because the ice maker was off during winter (because unless you use it constantly you have a solid block of ice), after a year it stopped making ice and poured water out from the top of the fridge. Expensive extended warranty came and replaced the Ice Maker, which (about a year later) has just started leaking all over the floor (again). This I suspect was a protest against using all of the ice one day. It froze up, which causes the leak, froze solid items that were in the fridge compartment (and spoiled some items). The other design fault is while the right hand door will stay open, the left will not, it closes. But it does not close properly - just enough to make you think it is closed.Dangle beers in a nearby stream, keep your food in the cellar, dig a deep hole in the backyard, learn to eat all your food the day you buy it, but do not buy this fridge!

Glad to know we are not alone in our disappointment with our Whirlpool French door refrigerator, but I am wondering what and when Whirlpool is going to do something about this. What a blow to their reputation. Goes to show things are not made as they used to be. We purchased our Whirlpool Gold French door (bottom freezer) in August of 2010. Here we are October 2012 and this is the third time it has stopped working. We have lost food, weekends waiting for repair people and cleaning up messes, and money. Same problem as others are reporting - the electronic board and controls. I just spent my Friday evening on the phone with Whirlpool, first explaining the problem to no result then waiting for a manager to call me back. Who (guess what?) never called. I finally called them and got the same script as the rest of you. It is outside the manufacturer warranty. Really, that is what you are giving me? Plus they will only look at it if we have a Whirlpool repair person come see it. When can they come? In 4 days! Ha, not likely. I am not giving this company another cent. We spent almost $2,000 on this fridge, all we are getting is 2, 3, 5 years? What a shame. We are fortunate enough to have had some space in our garage beer fridge for what I can save of the food. Our 7 years old, $300 Moffat fridge has been working like a charm. We will never again fall for the looks of a Whirlpool, let alone purchase another one of their appliances.
