I just replaced our Whirlpool Accubake Double Wall oven, model RBD305PDS14, because it fried the control panel after being put on self clean. This was the second time this has happened and I have probably only used the self clean feature three times since we purchased the oven. Im not a specialist in defective product design, but having a control panel burn up two out of three times when the self clean is used suggests a significant problem. I refused to pay to have it replaced again and obviously did not replace it with another Whirlpool product or any other brand associated with the company. I see that this problem has a long history dating back quite a few years with Whirlpool doing little or nothing to resolve the issue. (They just deny any knowledge about any defect in the design.) Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice shame on me!

My washer is a top load, energy and water efficient model. I am amazed at how little water it uses and how well it cleans. I do have two issues, the capacity looks huge but it will not take a queen size and double sheet set in the same load. It unbalances and then cant seem to get going again. The other issue is that you cant pause the wash and adjust things, you have to cancel and start over.

The appliances in my home range from a Kitchen Aid double wall oven, a DCS single wall oven (I have 2 Kitchens), 2 Kenmore dishwashers, a Fisher and Paykel refrigerator and 2 DCS counter-top stoves (all top of the line). No problems they are great appliances. On Dec.22, I bought a Whirlpool Duet. For 6 months, constant repairs and rebuilds were needed; new computer panels, pumps and new drums. They cant fix it. We have tried everything to get the Whirlpool Factory to fix it or replace it. So far, I have spent twice the original cost to fix the machine (but to no avail) and now you want me to spend another $500-$600 to try to fix it again? No more!

Hi team, I have to lodge this complaint after because of getting continuous
Hi team, I have to lodge this complaint after because of getting continuous problems I have suffered with my Whirlpool fully automatic washing machine top load 11 kg bloom wash 360 degree. I purchased the abovesaid brand new washing machine on 1st Jan 2017. Since the purchase I am struggling with this machine. I raised the fault in the beginning itself and the service was done on 5th of Feb. Jobs sheets enclosed here with.Similar issues kept on arising and whenever I raised those issues with the whirlpool team, they mentioned that company policy is to repair the faulty part if it’s in warranty and they will not replace. They suggested me to go for the AMC and to be on the safer side, I also took AMC under warranty period only. (AMC card - My cheque dates and service details all are mentioned onto it.) Recently I faced another issue on 26th Feb for which ticket was raised. Engineer visited on 27th Feb and advised us to replace the motor part. On 3rd March they replaced motor mechanism and ball-bearings. Then engineer advised us to check the working by giving a trial wash.I started the machine to wash clothes and after 20 mins machine started making abnormal noise. (I have made video of it, audio of the video captured the noise). I again called up the service engineer immediately and informed him about the voice coming out of machine and he gave a lame answer by saying “It is normal sound”. Then I again called Whirlpool and requested senior engineer visit to resolve the issue. Senior engineer visited and told us that one of motor screw wasn’t tighten properly. It opened while running the machine which completely damaged the motor. After that I am continuously calling to service centre to get the updates on my machine motor replacement. Finally they mentioned that they dont have motor part available with them due to company ceased this model productivity. When I raised this issue with the Whirlpool team they mentioned that they can only pay 40% of the machine value, because I had AMC. However, I did mention that this damage is caused by the negligence of their service engineer, but they didn’t discuss anything about it.When I continuously chased them they dropped me an email to refund only the 40% of the machine value. I feel cheated and harassed!! When I bought the machine they gave us 10 years warranty now they mention that motor is not available as it’s a 5 years old model. My grievance is that since I had already taken the AMC and the damage was also caused by their engineer, why I have to bear the loss. I have already struggled a lot with this machine since last 5 years from the day I bought this machine and now I am losing my hard earned money. Kindly do the needful. Documents attached as follows: 1. Serial number of this machine 2. Bill/ Invoice copy from dealer 3. Job sheets4. AMC card (with 3 years extended warranty) Thanks,Pratibha

Our daughter has a Whirlpool Duet front loader washer & dryer combination which is less than 3 years old. The washer shows fault code 71 and will not run or release the door lock. The first repairman said the interface board and/or a computer will need to be replaced. Cost is $600 to $1,000. I called Whirlpool. They recommended their trained tech be called out. He looked at the broken machine and determined the interface board was bad, and he put a temporary repair on the washer and said Its okay to use for now. He will return in 2 weeks with the replacement part. We tried the machine with a load of clothes. The machine filled up with water then quit, and the door was locked. We called to get a tech to open the door so we could retrieve our clothes. No one is available for 1 1/2 week. I called Whirlpool and was told a claim form would be mailed to me so we could be compensated for the damaged clothes. The letter arrived. I was appalled when I read it. First, it came from their Legal dept. The intent was to scare us into getting a lawyer or just use our homeowners insurance for the damaged clothes claim. I called Whirlpool back several times and was told too bad, so sad. Whirlpool might make a good machine; they cant prove it by me but their support rates a big zero.

Purchased new from Best Buy for over $1000. One or two months after the warranty expired the ice through the door malfunctioned, would only spit out crushed all over the floor then clog up. Didnt bother to repair it, just open the freezer. Next, the door would not seal right and frost builds up in my frost free. Also, the ice delivery wont close tight. Now the unit is about 3 years old and I just finished paying it off and all the door shelves are cracking. Contacted Whirlpool and was told by email politely, Too bad. You are out of warranty, but please buy parts from us and say nice things about Whirlpool because we so value our customers. Never will buy Whirlpool again and recommend you DONT.

Bought a French door whirlpool gold, wanted a good long lasting fridge. Bought in late 2011. After having it a couple of weeks we noticed the ice maker would take days to make ice. So we called to have it looked at. The repairman said if it is slow, switch it to fast ice. It made ice even slower, but the repair company said if it is making ice, and he comes out, we would be charged. So we lived with it. In 2014 it stopped making ice at all. We called they sent someone out and said it was a control board. They had to order it, and came back a week later to put it in. They left and said we would have ice soon. Never did!!!So we call again, they come out and said no power to ice maker. He called Whirlpool and they said wires in the freezer door were worn and broke. Well the door is non-serviceable and the cost of the door will exceed the price of the fridge! What kind of crap is that!! Long story short I will never buy another whirlpool again, and when I hear of someone buying new appliances I warn them to stay away from whirlpool!!! Run!!!

I purchased my Whirlpool Cabrio in November 2009. I am just four months shy of the two-year mark and it is dead! I paid a lot for the machine because I thought it was worth the investment. It was not mistreated in any way! The problem is in the computer part of the machine.Everyone knows that to have a repair person come out is costly in itself, add to that repairs and parts, and it isnt worth it to fix an appliance most of the time. I will never purchase Whirlpool again. Never. I could have bought three cheap machines for this one Whirlpool, and had a couple of backups in the event that one quit on me! Now I have a fancy washer and a mountain of laundry! Thanks, Whirlpool.

I hate this machine. I stress whenever I have to do laundry. The worse machine I ever owned. Stay away from it. It is a total rip off... I wanted to replace my front loader machine with a top loader. Based on good reviews at the time I purchased the Cabrio. Nothing gets clean. The detergent stays on the clothes and unless I use the Bulk senor. Otherwise I get horrible white marks on all the dark clothes. I cant even get the marks off with a wet rag. So washing only a few items I have to use Bulk. The sound is so bad from the machine, my dog runs in the closet and shakes. I feel so bad for her. How can a popular name like Whirlpool make such an inferior product? They dont even stand behind it. Customer service stinks. Never will I buy a Whirlpool product again. Now, I am trying to save up to buy a new machine. Shame on you Whirlpool.

I bought a Whirlpool Partner II 5 and a half years ago. It was always noisy and took very long to run a cycle. It started to malfunction after 2 years. We bought a new computer for it and a new control panel for the touch keys. It still kept not running a cycle fully. We found a YOUTUBE video that showed how to reset the model by pressing a combination of Normal and Heated Dry and that seemed to fix it for 2 years. It has stopped working again. Now it seems that the heating element is out. It doesnt clean at all, a scum film has covered the inside of the dishwasher and even mold spots are appearing. Ive had to wait extremely long times on hold to talk with an agent. My option is to hire a repair tech to come out and repair it and I pay for the parts. Seems like a bad deal since Ive already spent over a hundred on repairing it and a lot of hours. I will never buy a Whirlpool brand appliance again.

Updated on 03/15/2020: We bought this eight years ago to replace a 20-year-old Maytag that had finally developed a rust-related leak after serving us faithfully and needing only one almost trivial repair ($10 DIY lid switch replacement) over that period. I have replaced the water pump, the gear case, rotating seal (3 times), the lid switch striker (3 times), and the replacement gear case is making noises indicating incipient bearing failure. In its finite wisdom, Whirlpool decided to make the failure-prone main bearing irreplaceable, which means you have to replace the entire gear case, at a best-case cost of $120 and a worst-case cost of $300, plus labor, unless you do the work yourself, as I do. The secondary issue is mold and a musty odor. The most effective way to eliminate this is to pull the drum (non-trivial, requires a car jack, a 2x4, and a special spanner/wrench) and swab down the inside of the tub with disinfectant. (Been there ... done that three times over 8 years.)Original Review: I am in the process of replacing the bottom seal on my 6-year-old Whirlpool Cabrio (WTW5500XW2) washer. This will be the fourth major repair I have done on it. Fortunately, I can do the work myself and know how to find the best price on parts, but it is still discouraging that a lightly-used washer would have so many problems in such as short time. (It replaced a 20-year-old Maytag that finally rusted out.) Repairs to date: 1) replaced drain pump motor; 2) replaced lid switch; 3) removed basket twice to clean outer tub, due to mold and odors; 4) replaced suspension rods due to excessive spin vibration; 5) out of commission awaiting a new bottom seal. Total cost of parts (labor was on me) is well over $100.

Whirlpool under-counter dishwasher (model DU1345XTVB0) was purchased 14 months ago. Upper rack plastic adjustable wheel rack is broken. Will not replace. Dishwasher has probable design flaw with wheel positions causing overhanging load to put extreme stress on outer two wheels. The design was done to save money instead of having telescoping rails as most dishwashers do. Explained this. They will not even send a part. Many other Whirlpool dishwashers use these parts. Probable class action suit material.

After 2 1/2 yrs, the bearings have gone out, also every time I run the cleaning cycle, water leaks out under the washer. My boyfriend looked the parts to fix the washer, since I called Lowes concerning the warranty and its out. Cost to repair, just in parts would be around $400, I paid a lot of money for a product to last only 2 1/2 yrs. Such a lack of quality in workmanship. The Weatherization program installed a whirlpool refrigerator in our home in October 2012. The fridge is less than 2 years old and the blower fan went out. We lost most of our food (what wouldnt keep in a cooler) and my daughters insulin spoiled. When they put this fridge in, they took our old one saying it was less efficient. Now we are stuck with a fridge that doesnt work and is out of warranty at less than 2 years old. We have left several messages for a Whirlpool representative to call us back and here we are, one week later, and no call back. This is frustrating because although the fridge we had may not have been as energy efficient, I am almost certain that it would still be working. I have never heard of a fridge that lasts less than 2 years. Also, we know that the blower fan must be a common problem because they are back-ordered approx. one month. We checked online, and called local businesses and not one place has the part available.I think we at least deserve a call back considering how stressful this has been on us. I had just spent all of my grocery money for the month, and 70% of it went bad and had to be thrown away. Money is tight for us and replacing spoiled food is not an option. Also, the insurance company denied our request to refill my daughters insulin a little early. Without proper refrigeration the insulin goes bad. The insurance doesnt replace lost or spoiled medication. Guess we get to pay for that too! Thanks so much Whirlpool! Ill be sure and highly recommend your products to my friends. (NOT GONNA HAPPEN.)

When I ran it for the first time I thought it was malfunctioning and when I called Whirlpool I thought they would send a technician to fix the problem but they told me that the sound was perfectly normal for high efficiency washers! I bought a brand new Whirlpool washer and dryer set -Cabrio- $1700.00 in 2011. It is by far the worst washing machine I have ever purchased, and I am 60 years old!!! It is now three years old and has been repaired at least 4 times. Long story short... after hours & hours on the phone, along with many threats! (By the way I had to ask for a manager two times up the ladder for this to happen as they just kept repeating that it was out of warranty coverage). I also told them that I was going to have one of my company trucks deliver this machine to Sears lot, along with a paid person to inform every shopper of my plight with this washer and the lack of service from Sears and Whirlpool! Whirlpool finally agreed to pay for the parts but not the labor on this most current repair. (This time it is the transmission!! In the past it was the Hub, twice. The gear case twice and the belt a number of times). I am now going back to Sears to request (that might not be the correct word) Demand, that they take care of the service bill for this machine. In between repairs, I have dealt with ongoing cleaning quality problems. This machine does not get clothes clean. I always have to wash them twice. This machine is loud. This machine does not use enough water to even dissolve the soap. So much for energy saving measures when you have to wash twice and still see soap and crud in the tub. Worst, worst, ever washing machine in my life!! By the way, I have an 8 year old Maytag too that I have never had to repair. Moral of the story, buy Maytag, or at least do not buy a Cabrio!!!!

2 years ago, we remodeled our kitchen. We replaced with all Whirlpool appliances. WHAT A MISTAKE! Our ice maker went crazy 1 month ago and now our dishwasher almost caught fire Memorial Day weekend while we were away! Thermal Fuse and stainless interior prevented us from losing our house to fire but really Whirlpool, you spend that kind of money and all appliances are breaking before theyre even 3 yrs old! My husband is very good at fixing things but when he diagnosed dishwasher, he said he has to find a way to fix wires in control panel because melted insulation. Now I am afraid of it. So if you purchase Whirlpool, expect maybe 2.5 to 3 yrs service and think of them like a disposable lighter, use it and throw away.

Purchased this set in January of this year 2016. The loudness of this machine struck me first along with the constant banging of the pipes in the basement when filling with warm water. The agitator is very loud. Thought I was trading up from a 10 year old Whirlpool front loader set. There is hardly any water in the washer when running a full load. I take clothes out that are not only a twisted tight mess but in some spots are not even wet!!! The dark clothes inevitably need to be rewashed because there is white residue on them!!! I have used the pods and liquid and it doesnt seem to matter, happens with both. Customer service has no answers and say theyve never heard this before. How can this washer wash clothes when there is no water and little if any movement of clothes??? And how is it that we are all saying the same exact things and Whirlpool is not being held accountable??? I DONATED my working fine set to a dog rescue and am now stuck with a brand new machine that works PERFECTLY HORRIBLY. So who is watching you Whirlpool???

It comes that way from the factory. Thank God, I have a smart Hubby and Father-in-Law. I am concerned that Whirlpool microwaves installed over the stove have extremely faulty doors. I have two homes in which I have Whirlpool microwaves, and both have huge cracks in the door and small pieces inside the doors beginning to fall out. It deeply concerns me that it will cost more to replace the doors than to replace the microwaves. I have always believed in Whirlpool appliances but now feel that I will have to change brands. My question is “What in the world is wrong with your doors that they crack so easily and the company holds no responsibility with such faulty work?” I would simply think that this was just a faulty door on my microwave, but I have two that are cracked! This definitely means you have a faulty product.

I purchased a 50-gallon Whirlpool natural gas water heater (12 year warranty) from Lowes approx 2.5 years ago. Just before Thanksgiving, the pilot light started going out once a day, then twice a day. Now, I can light the pilot light in Pilot mode but as soon as I release the red button, the flame goes out. I called Whirlpool and received phone troubleshooting support resulting in a recommendation to pick up a new thermocoupler from Lowes which I did. While searching for someone to install (unfortunately Im not that handy), I ran into the thousands of complaints filed about the very same problem Im having over a number of years and right up to todays date. I called Whirlpool back and got the same song and dance. Theyd be happy to help me troubleshoot if I can get the required meters etc. to test devices, do draft tests, etc. They claimed the problems were fixed with the newer model that I have but certainly cant explain why I have exactly the same issue. What they are not willing to do is stand behind their product and get me hot water. Tried calling Lowes and got the response that I have to deal with Whirlpool. It appears that this newer BFG model is just as flawed as the older model and the warranty is pretty much worthless other than getting a few parts. I used to think that Whirlpool products were reasonably good, however, I will never purchase another.

Had washer for 5 months. It now has a door latch error. It has been 3 weeks and it is still not repaired. Parts take a week to 10 days to get. We are now going back and trying the original part ordered. Not sure if this will fix it this time, as it didnt the first time, but we have no choice. Whirlpool will not stand behind their product and give us a replacement and for good reason, it is obviously junk and we will have the same issues in 5 months. Calling their help line is a waste of time, they understand your frustration but do nothing to help relieve it. Their supervisors have the ability to do nothing and excel at it. Thought this was a good product when we bought it but are now suffering for this decision.

My $1800 French door refrigerator is only 20 months old and the ice maker has quit working. They sent out a repair person 5 times and replaced parts three of those times. Now they are saying it is unrepairable and are refunding my contract fee of $345 and leaving me with a broken ice maker. When the problem started it was making ice just not dumping it. Now it doesnt even get water. Throughout this all, two months, I have had to constantly call them to find out our next move. They say someone will call me in 2-3 days but they never do. One of The last people I talked to said, Well you can still keep food in it. I dont feel that is reasonable considering I bought a refrigerator with the ice maker in it. I finally called Whirlpool corporate instead of the service contract people to see if anything could be done and was told someone would call me back in 2-3 business days. Well its been a week and big surprise - have not heard from anyone. It is looking like we will have to purchase yet another refrigerator in less than two years. The service people I talked to were rude and really didnt seem to want to help at all. I believed when I purchased this Whirlpool product that they were a reputable company. Sorry to say that is not the case at all. I dont know if the refrigerator is really unrepairable or if they just gave up trying to find the issue. Seems hard to believe a basically new appliance cant be repaired.

They come out with all the stains still on them. The water does not even get the clothes wet! And they smell. Called Whirlpool up and they sent out tech 2x and said there was nothing wrong. Went back to Lowes and they will not honor my claim to replace the unit. I now have to purchase a new machine since this one is useless. Never will I buy a Whirlpool again and dont you either!!!

Our Whirlpool refrigerator, model MODGI5FSAXVYO, began leaking water from the freezer onto the floor about 3 months ago. We purchased the unit in January 2011. We had to keep a towel on the floor to absorb the moisture. Our troubles began after the freezer door was left ajar and the interior became quite frosty. We had turned off the freezer several times to defrost but nothing helped until this morning when I read the comments of Marea of McClellanville, SC and Ruth of Vavenby, BC.I then decided to begin exploring taking apart everything until I reached the freezer unit in the back of the freezer. I discovered a lot of ice with the ice blocking the drain hole which is supposed to drain condensation from the freezer fins to a drain pan in back of the freezer. Apparently, leaving the freezer door ajar caused the drain hole and surrounding area to ice up. Condensation from the fins would keep dripping until it overflowed onto the bottom of the freezer until it filled up with ice. The water then had nowhere to go but out of the freezer onto the floor. The simple solution to this problem is to turn off the fridge, empty out the freezer and allow the frozen drain hole to thaw out. You can easily remove the back panel of the refrigerator to see if water is then draining into the drain pain. Good Luck! Ed

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio washer. It was great for almost year. After that it has been nothing but trouble. The body of the washer has rust coming through the paint and large areas that is so rusted that the paint has chipped off completely. A washer is expected to deal with water and not rust through the body. I have a 10-year old Ford truck without a speck of rust. Dont they undercoat? The circuit board has had to be replaced because of rust. I have to take several Q-tips and go under the cover to remove all the rust if I dont it gets rust stains on my clothes, which is impossible to remove. The customer service is non existent. They have left me on the line for over 40 minutes. I hang on only because it would be another hour or so of my time to get someone to answer. I was without a washer for a month while waiting for parts. Why dont they have parts for their products? I had to slop my way too dirty laundry mats 3 times a week as I do 2 to 3 loads a day.My washer is downstairs and stops and gives me the unbalanced message even when its not, running up and down the stairs several times to complete one load. I also get the F51 message for no perceivable reason. The extra rinse button only works 1/2 the time. This was an expensive washer ($1,000.00) and I feel that I deserve my money back. They are knowingly making an inferior product.

Updated on 02/13/2021: Company fails on customer service. My stove’s trim is rubbing off on my Whirlpool stove only 6 months old. No chemicals were ever used to clean the surface. This trim piece surrounds the controls and is not covered under warranty. An expensive cheaply made stove. Multiple attempts to have the piece replaced got nowhere. A letter sent to the head office was deferred back to customer service. Whirlpool has lost credibility and I will no longer buy their products.Original Review: So disappointed to find the paint finish coming off the trim on my 8 month old Whirlpool range. No harsh cleaning chemicals were used. Only mild dish soap and a microfiber towel. The trim, attached to the control panel on the front of the stove, is not actually stainless steel, but painted to look like stainless steel. Whirlpool warranty doesnt cover esthetics and refused to replace the trim, stating replacement would include the entire control panel and it is not covered under warranty. So be prepared to have your new expensive stove look old in a matter of months.

I purchased the 19 cu. ft. Whirlpool Estar refrigerator WRT 3595FYW on 4/28/12. Freezer began showing frost immediately. Repairman from Marcellas Appliance where purchased - (518) 381-1957, came to check it, put a sealer around the door openings of refrigerator and freezer. Frost continued. I called Whirlpool. They sent another repairman from EB Russell in Schenectady, NY, door needs replacing. Door was ordered and when received by them, the door was replaced on my refrigerator. In August 2012, frost is in freezer, on its roof, on the door daily. I called Whirlpool. I told them I wanted to remove it from my home. Whirlpools reply was, you have a repair warranty, not a replacement warranty. I was not advised of this when I purchased. Otherwise, I would have gone to Sears, Lowes, etc. On 8/16/12, another repairman from The Appliance Man, Albany will be here Monday. Its dishonest sale, replacement was advised possible by Marcella, that it was just a matter of course to get an okay from Whirlpool. This is not so. There is no replacement or return policy. Please help. Thank you.

This is our 2nd circuit board failure in the 4-5 yrs, since we purchased this very expensive range/oven. The first time was shortly after the warranty ran out and Whirlpool would not even send us the part for free. They said there was nothing they could do. So this time we are not even contacting them and are just having our repairman order another new one. For a $1600 range to have to put more than $400 back in so far, I would never buy a Whirlpool again. I have been very careful not to use any cleaners on the circuit board as I was told by our repairman that that shorts them out. First the convect bake button wouldnt work, nor the convect roast, now the bake button, so the only buttons that work are broil and warm. Even the timer is shot. What a piece of junk (electronically). Beware buyers!

We purchase all Whirlpool appliances for our new house in Florida in late 2015 from Good Deals Appliances. First repair before 1 wk in-house was the dishwasher. Wires were not connected. Now it is the refrigerator (French door refrigerator model K44913210). We reached out where we purchase the appliances and they gave a number of repairman to connect. He came and told us the compressor & evaporator & valve needed replacement, We found that hard to believe that a 2-yr-old refrigerator needed all this repair. Called another repairman to hear same thing. We were also told this problem is so common with this model. Called Whirlpool. They sent a repairman out. Said same thing first two said. They are paying for parts but not labor. We were told by last repairman that this refrigerator hasnt worked from day one. Passed info to Whirlpool and no comment. We paid a lot of money for an upgraded refrigerator to have it quit in 2 years. Totally not acceptable. On top of this the parts may not work for more than 2 years again. Okay Whirlpool who is going to pay for all the ice & dry ice, the other two repairmen that came. The repairman you sent was double the price of other 2 & will not come back till we pay. We will pass our experience with Whirlpool on to all friends and friends of friends.

We got a brand new bottom freezer french door Whirlpool refrigerator in our brand new apartment. Since we moved in last week the temperature control in the refrigerator box has failed three times. The freezer stays cold but the coils are frosted solid and no cooling gets up to the refrigerator box. We turned on moisture control but that didnt help. The users manual is completely useless and in fact doesnt even match the control panel. The numbers for temperature settings on the instructions dont match the numbers on the panel. We had to turn off and thaw out the unit completely three times already and this is just the first week! Last night the building maintenance guys came in and sprayed the back panel of the freezer with warm water. He said he talked to the GE tech, who suggested we also increase the freezer temperature settings to 4 and the refrigerator to 44. But this morning the temperature rose again. It sure sounds to me like the daily defrost cycle isnt running at all and nobody wants to consider that possibility. Thaw the unit several times a week is completely ridiculous. Our food has experienced so many temperature excursions who knows whether its any good now. I cant wait to get my first taste of salmonella. This is what you get when you combine junk with poor service.

In 2008 I bought a Whirlpool range from Lowes. About a year ago I began to notice an electrical smell when I would use the oven. I called the repairman in October and he had to replace wires that had melted. The first time using the oven blew a fuse. Repairman came back replaced everything for free and it has worked fine since October. 2 days ago the fuse blew again. When I flipped the breaker in order to use the cooktop there was an arc flash which blew a hole through the back of the panel on the stove where the cord is hooked to the stove and a hole burned in my wall. After reading Whirlpools fan mail I see that there are severe issues with the quality of Whirlpool products. It is a sad day when the names we have come to trust are more concerned with the bottom dollar than with customer satisfaction with their product.

I purchased the model WDF530PAYM0 serial: F14106104 dishwasher. The foremost reason I purchased this was it had nylon racks. I have discovered that the racks are rusting! It is rusting on the ends where nothing can touch it. I am very disappointed that it is advertised having nylon racks and now it is rusting and deteriorating. This dishwasher states racks-nylon, not racks-nylon coated. I just took some pictures of the racks. I decided to look underneath the top rack where the upper spray arm is located. Now I am plain sick! Most of the underneath is rusting. This dishwasher was purchased and installed 2 years ago. I paid $600 and you would assume that something mechanical would quit after years of use on an average of 1 to 2 times per weeks. Not this one...rusting racks and hard telling what damage the rust flaking off during running is causing to the mechanical components. Lesson learned: Their definition of nylon and nylon coated has no difference.....I very much disagree!

NU40T61-403 have had problems since day one. First problem was while heating up would make loud humming noise. Whirlpool sent out plumber. He adjusted plate under tank. That worked for about 2 months. Then pilot started going out. They send same plumber out again, also sent replacement part. Problem was fixed however about 2 months after that started leaking and flooding our garage. Called company again, was told that is no longer under warranty and stated we need a thermal expansion tank. I stated “why would we need this? This unit is only a little over a year old. Im not going to purchase another tank. A water heater should not overheat like this.” Long story short my husband has been burnt severely from the pressure build up as he was out in our garage walking past the tank when it decided to release pressure even though no water was being used at that time. He ended up at the ER with 2nd-3rd degree burns. I called Whirlpool again and was only told we need to install the expansion tank. In 2013, my husband purchased a Whirlpool Hot Water Heater model #E2F40RD045V 40 gal. from Lowes in Vancouver, WA. On 12/12/15, had to call a plumber, the hot water heater was intermittent hot/cold. He flushed it, checked all power connections and changed the elements. On 3/18/16, NO hot water. Having a 6 year warranty, I called Whirlpool. They gave all kinds of excuses and told me to try a bunch of tests. By the time I got back to call them they were closed. I called them again on Monday 3/21/16 and said nothing worked and it had popped the breaker. They said change the elements. I told them I had just changed the elements 3 months before. I told them it was faulty wiring. They said the top element must be faulty. I gave up at that point and called the plumber. He came right out the next day. I had purchased a Rheem hot water heater to install and asked him to check the Whirlpool hot water heater elements he installed before he removed it. That is when it was discovered that under the insulation around the bottom element it was all scorched from FAULTY wiring. I called Whirlpool again and told them I could send them a picture and they said dont bother and immediately gave me an RA to return the hot water heater to Lowes. I told them I had already purchased another hot water heater and it was not a Whirlpool. I am going to request a refund.

We purchased this dishwasher (Gold Dishwasher WDF60SADB) because of its low 49-decibel rating. It goes over 60 decibels regularly and occasionally up to 70 during operation (not including drain noises which cannot be controlled by the dishwasher). We used a tablet app to confirm. Decibels are not linear, they are exponential. 70 decibels is what your average shower or dishwasher sounds like. 50 is about as quiet as a refrigerator. You have to talk over this dishwasher. And yes there was a big price difference between it and Whirlpools next loudest rated washer.Whirlpools customer service says they will not replace or repair based on sound ever, only for functional failure. Bottom line, dont pay any attention to Whirlpool sound ratings. They dont stand by them and do not consider gross overages a defect. Fortunately the retailer (Lowes) does stand by what they sell and will trade for any other machine by any other manufacturer. We have only good things to say about Lowes in this process. This machine arrived Wednesday, and we pick a replacement Sunday. It will not be a Whirlpool. I will never buy a Whirlpool anything again. We said it will do X but we dont care if a brand new one wont is no way to do business.

The company reps I spoke to could have cared less about our situation especially Fred who supposedly is a supervisor. Do yourself a favor...DON’T buy Whirlpool. Their customer service sucks!!!

I ordered a washer dryer combination through Whirlpool. I was given a delivery date 2 weeks out. Whirlpool employees must be doing their laundry very sparingly if they think that this would not put a strain on a household. But I was willing to wait. I asked the date and they wouldnt give it to me. A week later they called with the date and I asked the time. Again they wouldnt give it to me. However they said they would give me the time the night before. They then called with the time, which was during work hours. I told them I would be unable to do this during work hours and they gave me the only other optional date, also during work hours. I finally agreed and took a 1/2 personal day. When I arrived home. I received a phone call from Whirlpool that they will not be delivering my washer/dryer unit at all and to pick a different date. I canceled altogether.UPDATED ON 02/24/2016: I have worked hard to not get upset at companies. However I feel that this is an especially poor company and I cant remain silent anymore. I bought a Duet Washer and dryer over the phone with Whirlpool. It took 3.5 weeks for it to get delivered because Whirlpool kept cancelling. Each time, I took a 1/2 personal day so that I could meet the delivery people within their 4-hour window frame. On the 3rd attempt, they were finally delivered and set up by the delivery men.During the 2nd time I ever used the product, it stopped working, making a horrible grinding noise. I had to unplug the machine. My husband came home and hes pretty handy. However he was unable to even press 1 button. I had a friend in the repair business come the next day and he was unable to repair it. I called Whirlpool again and they said theyd have a repairman out the next day. They outsourced the job to a local company and Whirlpool sent me a confirmation email with a time and date. Again I took a 1/2 personal day. After hearing from no one, I called the repair company. They said they had no record of me in the system. I cried.I called Whirlpool and was put on hold for 3 hours. I hung up and called again. They said my department closed 8 minutes ago and they couldnt take my call. I asked how that could happen considering you began the call 3 hours before that time and would have stayed on hold until I died had I not decided to hang up and try again. Every time previous to this I had been on hold for a minimum of 1 hour.I have been trying to return the product. They tell me that Im unable to because my product is functional. I told them it was in fact not functional, which was about the 3rd time I said this, and they said Ill have to call back 1st thing in the morning. I told them I cant risk any more work time to deal with this poor company. So they put me on hold again and thats where I remain. I am currently going on 27 minutes.

We purchased this dishwasher in June 2014 while putting home back together
We purchased this dishwasher in June 2014 while putting home back together following fading of our home. Within 6 months of purchase the dishwasher was doing dry washes, and getting very hot touch. Whirlpool sent out repairman who replaced parts that had melted inside dishwasher and the control panel. This same thing happened 2 more times. A repairman came and repaired and replaced parts. In May 2016 it once again was running so hot that it burned hand when opened. Once again repaired but this time it started leaking from front dishwasher. When we talked to whirlpool they sent out repairman and assured us they would pay for any and all damage it had caused. They also replaced dishwasher with Maytag of our choice which they covered all cost. When installers pulled out the unit we learned the dishwasher had most likely been leaking the entire time, water damage up entire wall, cabinets ruined, countertops had been bubbling and separating from wall, floors ruined. We followed all instructions and had three contractors come to do estimates that were from 27,500-30,680. Whirlpool then sent outside adjuster because of cost. We have now received offer of 6700 and told we could take this or submit to our insurance company. Also we now have Mold in kitchen which they are aware of and we think the flooring is now rotting and breaking.

Whirlpool WRF989SDAM00. We bought this junk April 22, 2013. 7 visits from service guy throughout the entire year we have had this, problems began almost immediately. Whirlpool gave us a 3 month complimentary warranty (which is up at the end of June). Same problem is back (back left corner freezing up and I think it has also made our ice maker not work nearly as good as it should). We called a few weeks back to report problem yet again, the rep on the phone treated us very poorly. They said they have a new part that is currently on back order that is going to fix the problem once and for all to which my husband replied: I do not have much confidence this will fix the problem as you have sent 5 or 6 new and improved parts over the year and all has failed. He then asked, will you extend the warranty once more, and they said NO. We are stuck with a ($2,700) piece of crap that they just keep trying to find new parts to fix it! On a separate call we asked for a refrigerator replacement to which the rep basically laughed and said that will never happen!! What course of action can we take here?? This company is dead to me!

I am a senior who has not used the Whirlpool Range installed by the builder in 2007 very much. First of all, I did not like the way the covered jets hid the lighted jets when they were turned on low. Then about 8 months ago, I smelled gas and no one had used the range. I checked the knobs and one was turned slightly without any gas lit. I know that for years the companies were required to have push-in knob before you could turn them for safety reasons (especially children). These knobs barely push in before turning so that they can easily be accidentally brushed against and leak gas, which is exactly what happened to me again today. My daughter was visiting. Neither of us had used the range and when she left, I sat in my living room and smelled gas. I immediately checked the range and the small front jet was turned slightly on. The odor was so strong that I know it had to have been on for some time. Its been an hour and Im still airing out the house. I have used gas ranges for over fifty years and never had a problem such as this. Im thankful that I do not have issues with my sense of smell. Otherwise, I would not be sitting here writing this.

We bought a Cabrio washer & dryer September 2010 for a room addition that wasnt completed yet. We didnt get moved in until the first of November. So the washer wasnt used until then. In January 2011 (15 months later) it stopped spinning so clothes were dripping wet. We called Whirlpool and were told that they would be happy to set us up for a service agreement for $322 for one year. We declined since we bought the washer for a little over $500. When we had a local Whirlpool service man come out and he determined that it was the control board which would cost $265 (Whirlpool only warrants parts 90 days). I sent an email to Whirlpool and was told too bad, so sad. We called their customer care line (that is really not the term for that phone center) and asked to talk to a supervisor, who essentially told me the same thing. Whirlpool is making equipment that is extremely poor quality. There is no incentive for them to produce a better quality product as they make money on the extended warranties that are necessary, or if you dont buy an extended warranty they charge an extraordinary huge price for their parts, which they dont warranty. We will never purchase anything made by Whirlpool. I am not sure where this useless piece of junk that I have will end up but I intend to let everyone I know what a terrible company Whirlpool is to deal with.

WRF993FIFM00 refrigerator is a LEMON - I bought my $3000 refrigerator just after Christmas. In seven months, it has failed three times and I have been without a refrigerator for a cumulative 7 weeks so far. Each time it failed, I lost all my food, (but not until after wed been eating compromised food). If you buy a fridge, I strongly recommend getting a thermometer, because we learned the hard way that these Whirlpool units can just stop cooling properly and you wont necessarily notice that it is above the FDAs recommendations for food storage. Anyway, after each call they will make an appointment a week or two out for a tech to come out, who then orders the parts that take weeks to come in. Now, my third service call in and the SAME PARTS have failed again and I am again without any refrigeration and they have no idea when the parts will be in. This has been an awful experience, and Whirlpool could not care less. DONT buy their products, under any of their names. IT IS TIME FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. Too many folks have spent a lot of money and have been burned by Whirlpool, not to mention becoming ill from improperly chilled food!

My husband AND I purchased our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer from Lowes
My husband AND I purchased our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer from Lowes in 2011 (Model # WTW7800XW2). About 10 months after I purchased this I noticed a hairline crack on the right side of the frame that holds the glass top near the hinge. I didnt think to much of this. I figured it may have been screwed to tight when manufactured. A few days ago I noticed the lid wasnt sitting flat and saw the crack had gotten much worse. The Cabrio lid is made with a heavy piece of glass inside a plastic frame allowing you to see through the top. Its pretty obvious that the plastic frame is not durable enough to hold the heavy piece of glass.I called Lowes and they told me that because I didnt purchase their extended warranty that I should contact Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and was told it was a cosmetic defect because the washer still works. They also told me my washer is outside of its warranty so they would schedule someone to fix it but I was 100% responsible for the repair costs (which I found out will be $400). Out of curiosity I googled this issue online and found numerous people complaining about this exact same issue. When I told this to the customer service agent at Whirlpool, she said there werent enough people to recall the product. Why should I spend $400 when it was a design flaw that caused this problem? I found out the year after my washer was made, the lid was redesigned with a much sturdier frame, Coincidence? I think not!I havent had any problems thus far with the dryer but with the experience Ive had with this washer will make me never by another Whirlpool product again. I cant believe they wont stand by their product! Obviously they know this has been a major complaint on this model from 2011 because it was changed the following year. I have purchased many Whirlpool appliances over the years but dealing with this issues has been frustrating. Im so disappointed in Whirlpool and their lack of integrity!

I purchased this washing machine December 16, 2011. I paid $737.07 for this machine. 14 months later I had to repair the top of it which cost me $255 for the lid which the plastic around the lid was cracked. I had to pay $136 installation fee and two years later the exact same thing happened again, the plastic cracked. I have contacted Whirlpool which took a complaint - said that was all they could do. Ive contacted the store where I purchased it, they can do nothing. I read online there are many complaints about the lid on this washing machine. It shouldve been a recall. I will never purchase a Whirlpool product again. I will not pay to have it repaired again. I will give it away and purchase something else not whirlpool and not from Lowes. I expected some kind of compensation from whirlpool on this. I have all my receipts.

Are there negative numbers for ratings? Horrible, to say the least. Whirlpool is the parent name for KitchenAid ovens. I have an electric oven and the glass on the front door exploded! Whats worse is that I have been given the complete run-around! I have called, wrote, waited, and tried ordering through other companies--still no luck! How does Whirlpool get away with this? It seems that Whirlpool no longer makes the part!! Do they really expect consumers just to replace an oven every few years? Poorest customer satisfaction I have ever experienced! This should be a consumer fraud grand suit, as there are numerous complaints about the same issue with Whirlpool appliances! Stay away from this company by all means!

Whatever you do, dont ever buy a Whirlpool French door refrigerator. For the last 5 months this $2,200 error in our judgement has not worked. We purchased it late last September and were so excited to enjoy this sleek machine. Wrong. In November a controller broke and the refrigerator portion froze over freezing everything and blowing apart the deli drawer. Then the ice maker was not working, it topped out at about 10 cubes a day. After that it acquired the lovely habit of shutting off every several minutes. 24 hours a day. Every time it would turn back on it would chime. 24 hours a day. And neither the refrigerator nor freezer portion would maintain temperature. Whirlpool keeps sending people out, turning us into their Guinea Pig while they try to come up with a solution. The chiming has finally stopped but we still dont have an ice maker and the light is intermittent. Another repair man is due tomorrow. So unless you have countless hours to spend waiting for and dealing with repairmen, making phone calls and enjoying throwing away spoiled food, dont waste your money with this company.

I have owned a Whirlpool Gold Series Refrigerator for one year and 9 months. During that time I have had 7 repair issues. Each of the past ones took at least two weeks to repair. This past repair has to be redone because the new parts are also bad. The part is now on factory backorder. It will be at least two months for this to be repaired. Whirlpool says its too bad, we just have to deal with being without a working refrigerator for months. Do not buy this product!!! The warranty only means that you are forced to wait months for repairs. They will not replace, refund, or even extend the warranty for all this downtime. You have no recourse with the company.

I bought my Whirlpool Duet set with pedestal in February 2008. I just had a tech here to figure out why my machine is so loud during agitation and that I cant hear anything else. He said its the drum hitting something. I never overload my machine - just normal use for 4 years. It costs more to repair the machine than to buy a new one. Now, after seeing this information, Im not the only one who has this problem with my Whirlpool washer. I am disappointed that there isnt anything else the Whirlpool company tech can do for me - just a receipt that shows the parts alone cost $600.00. WFW97HEDW, WGD95HEDW American made and equivalent to LG and Kenmore. Size fitted our space available. Price was a bit higher than the Korean models with similar or better features. We bought and returned three consecutive Whirlpool models from Sears. Though we never really got to put the dryers to the test, nor did they fail, the washers were of such a poor quality that they broke down within 1-2 weeks of installation. Eventually we switched to LG and have had no problems. When the Whirlpool fails it locks your clothes inside and to open and retrieve your clothes is just short of impossible. We really, really really wanted to buy the American made brand and we were willing to pay the premium to do so, but these washers were awful.

Bought a Whirlpool Cabrio. Noticed it was getting really loud less than a year into owning it. Called while it was under warranty. The tech said it was fine. Within the next year and a half it got so loud, you cant hear anything else in the house while it is running. Now it is leaking from the tub seals and the bearings are going out according to two service techs I have had come look at it. They say it is more expensive to fix than the washer is even worth. This is due to the parts that would be used to fix it are the same cheap Whirlpool parts that were put in it in the first place. They both said that these are not good washers and commonly go out about a year and half to three years old. Shame on Whirlpool for making such a low quality product and not being willing to do anything about it.
