We purchased Whirlpool Oasis. The top loader washer and dryer 5 years ago from Sears. Both are scrap now. Paid high end money for these. Tub was changed on washer 2 years after purchased. Now looks like electrical control panel is gone. Oh well, Sears not really the problem because Whirlpool holds the monopoly on appliances. They are made to fail. Watch marketplace or W5 shows the tech men tell the story... You want to get screwed, buy a whirlpool. Hell I did.

I have a model ED20PK. The doors are rusting on the outside. This refrigerator was purchased by my husband who has passed, I do not have the receipt and I dont know where he purchased it. The refrigerator worked perfect. It has been in my kitchen from day of purchase. My home is adequately heated in winter and air conditioned in the summer. I have an up-scale home. I dont see any reason to replace the refrigerator, but I cannot stand the deteriorating condition of the doors. If I replace it, I will not buy a Whirlpool or any brand made by Whirlpool. The rust is not just a discoloration, it is actually rough to the touch and is getting worse day by day. If you have any answers or help I would appreciate a phone call. I am not really in an economic position to just go and buy a new refrigerator.

I have had my fridge (model WRX735SDHZ02) for 6 months now and it has never worked properly. All our food was getting frozen so we bought a thermometer to check the temperature inside the fridge and it was showing around 22F. The technician came 4 times and finally said that the fridge couldnt be fixed. He asked me to call Whirlpool since there was nothing else he could do. Every time I have called Whirlpool (6 times already) the wait times have been between 52 minutes to almost 1.5 hours. When I called customer service to tell them the technician said the fridge cant be fixed, Whirlpool said that I had to contact the technician again and schedule another visit. Whirlpool said the technician had to call them from MY home and tell them the fridge cant be fixed. I asked why couldnt the technician just call them now to let them know and why did I have to schedule another visit for that? Whirlpool said it was protocol. Makes absolutely no sense. In a nutshell, its been 6 months and my fridge is still not fixed and Whirlpool is not being helpful. If I could go back I would not buy Whirlpool.

This is our 3rd repair in 13 months and now my 4 and 1/2 year old son and I both suffered bacterial food poisoning on this 3rd round. It has been a complete nightmare. Then we found out until last month, they were completely replacing the entire refrigerator. Then they stopped that and are just replacing the parts again. Now there is a back order of the parts and not to put any food in there or we will get sick again. The repair itself will take 4 hours whenever they get the parts in and another 1/2 day to take off work. We are building a house and have bought the entire gold series line of crap that is sitting in boxes in our garage. NOW WHAT WHIRLPOOL?

I think the whirlpool washer is a very nice machine. I think it does a good job of cleaning but still has the tub odor problem that a lot of front load machines have. As far as reliability it has done pretty well but I did have to replace the tub bellow and it is only 5 years old. It also makes a lot of noise so it is not a quiet machine at all. The steam option on the washer is a nice feature but not sure how much it does to help clean stuff.

I purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator, side by side in August 2013. The ice maker made ice but the size of the ice was much smaller than usual, however we lived with it. Soon it only made about a handful of ice a day, which defeats the purpose of an ice maker. So we called the store we bought it from and they sent a repairman. The problem was not solved until about the 4th visit from the repairman. I was told there was no problem with our ice maker from the first 3 repairmen. In the meantime the refrigerator side started pooling water in the bottom under the bin... Had to call again for that problem (they fixed). Now the door is showing rust under the handles. I have contacted Whirlpool and they have told me thats too bad, but they dont have to do anything because read the fine print, it is not their problem and thank you for being a Whirlpool customer. I am very disappointed in this supposedly good company... Is this corporate America? Never again will I buy Whirlpool.

Our Whirlpool refrigerator, model MODGI5FSAXVYO, began leaking water from the freezer onto the floor about 3 months ago. We purchased the unit in January 2011. We had to keep a towel on the floor to absorb the moisture. Our troubles began after the freezer door was left ajar and the interior became quite frosty. We had turned off the freezer several times to defrost but nothing helped until this morning when I read the comments of Marea of McClellanville, SC and Ruth of Vavenby, BC.I then decided to begin exploring taking apart everything until I reached the freezer unit in the back of the freezer. I discovered a lot of ice with the ice blocking the drain hole which is supposed to drain condensation from the freezer fins to a drain pan in back of the freezer. Apparently, leaving the freezer door ajar caused the drain hole and surrounding area to ice up. Condensation from the fins would keep dripping until it overflowed onto the bottom of the freezer until it filled up with ice. The water then had nowhere to go but out of the freezer onto the floor. The simple solution to this problem is to turn off the fridge, empty out the freezer and allow the frozen drain hole to thaw out. You can easily remove the back panel of the refrigerator to see if water is then draining into the drain pain. Good Luck! Ed

In 1994 we built a new home and we used only Whirlpool Appliances. In July 2006 we replaced all the appliances with another Whirlpool products, although they were still working including the microwave. After two years the microwave stop working, replaced it with another Whirlpool microwave and the second one stop working last night (July 2014). I noticed the quality of all their products went down including, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Refrigerator, etc. The dishwasher heating element start to decompose and I replaced it. The washing machine get stuck and the water never stop creating a major flood in the house. The refrigerator door seal torn apart. I decided not to buy any more Whirlpool products.

I bought a Whirlpool top loading washing machine with dryer on top, model # WGT4027EWo, last August, not even 3 months old and noticed the lint was not coming off the clothes. We tried cleaning out the washing machine with vinegar, wiping down the sides, using smaller loads and even used the gentle cycle. Nothing helped. We have had 2 different repair men out and they said there is nothing wrong with the washing machine and to put the clothes in the dryer and use fabric softener. I have never had to use fabric softener in my washing machine to get my clothes clean. When reaching out to customer service, I have spent over 2 hours and no satisfaction. They state that the technicians say there is nothing wrong with the machine. I was told by both of the technicians that they removed the lint trap from this machine, but no one is taking responsibility. My whites have blue lint and my darks have white lint, so too strong an agitation, as suggested by one repairmen is completely wrong! What to do when you spend over $1,000 on a washer/dryer combo and they dont work correctly and Whirlpool doesnt stand behind their product? Honestly, I will never buy another product from this company, and I 60 y/o and never made a complaint before about a appliance in my life!!! I dont even think I can give them 1 star! DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!!

I purchased this Whirlpool dishwasher from Sears on 3/25/2010. Then on 8/11/2012 the dishwasher completely failed to operate. I called for service and they checked it out and they found out that the control board had failed due to moisture getting into the electronic components. They replaced the control board & control panel and the dishwasher has worked until today (2/08/2014) - 17 months, and now exhibits the same problem. The original repair costs including labor was over $400. Not really acceptable and demonstrates very poor quality control and design @ Whirlpool. As of now, I am considering whether to purchase a new machine (obviously neither a Whirlpool or Sears product). As part of the original service the soap dispenser also failed and had to be replaced. I believe Whirlpool should be responsible for some of the repair costs.

It still squeals so loud, you cant have a conversation in the same room. Now, Whirlpool says that it is normal. No, it is not normal for a washer to squeal so loud. I am still waiting on Whirlpool to replace the same part they replaced the last time. We are still not abe to hear each other over the squeal of our new Whirlpool washer. This is not normal.

I purchased my Cabrio a little over three years ago. Within the first month, the computer board had to be replaced and the tech informed me that it was not a malfunction in the unit; rather, it was because I did not have a sock bag for my socks and panties. I replaced the board, bought a sock bag and had no problems for about 1.5 years. A little over a year ago, the un-level started. I did research and found that I needed to replace the rods and add couplers as they were not thought of when the unit was created. This worked for an entire month. Now, I am in the same position again. It takes about 6 tries per load and the amount of water I am using is increasing with each failed attempt to wash. There should be a recall on this product. I notice there are many other complaints that match my frustrations exactly.

This morning another chunk of our Whirlpool Microwave handle fell off while I was cooking breakfast. I got on the internet after breakfast and typed in whirlpool microwaves to see if anyone else had experienced problems with their microwave handles and found this site. We purchased a Whirlpool Microwave oven from Lowes in 2011 (over the range model). About two weeks after it was installed, I noticed a crack in the handle. Then a few days after that, a small chunk of glass/plastic fell off of the handle when I shut the microwave door. Since that time, the door handle has been steadily disintegrating. Sometimes chunks of plastic fall off when one shuts the door, even if you are very gentle. Chunks of plastic fall off nearly every time I clean the microwave door, even if I dont touch the handle. Sometimes chunks fall off randomly when Im not even using the microwave. Pieces of plastic have fallen into my cooking pots a few times. Perhaps the steam from the cooking food loosens the cheap glue holding the handle on? What an inferior product! I am very dissatisfied with Whirlpool and will not recommend their products to anyone.

Whirlpool gas range convection oven - I have only had this range for 2 weeks. Manual is sketchy to say the least. Purchased from LOWES - salesman were not well-informed. I have had to do a chat to find out information. Range looks great but performs poorly. Takes a while to heat anything even on high and on large burners. Grates are too heavy. I am sorry I did not see the editor review before I purchased. I have not used the convection so I cannot speak to this but my choices were limited when I purchased and I did not want a convection oven and other ranges would not purposeful for my use.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio and a one year extended warranty two years ago. As soon as my warranty ended, my washer started to malfunction. I recently started to receive the F-51 code and the washer shuts down at the spin cycle. I am angry because I spent just under 1200 dollars on a washer a little bit over two years ago and now, it is sitting in my laundry room taking up space. When I called Whirlpool, they told me I could purchase another repair warranty for $316.94, which would take the cost over 1500 dollars for this washer and there was no empathy nor compassion for what I was feeling as a consumer from the customer service rep. I spent my hard-earned money on major appliance purchase and I think that it is only fair that I get more than a two year usage out of machine that was designed to last at least six years according to their website. There is no way that this should just be my lost and cost me additional funds.

My husband and I purchased a Gold Series, French Door refrigerator/freezer
My husband and I purchased a Gold Series, French Door refrigerator/freezer in 2012. Everything was fine until our icemaker took a dump a few weeks ago. It had to be replaced. Taking time off from work to meet the repairman with that repair was an inconvenience but it was only magnified when we were told he would call us an hour before the repair, which never happened. We were given the usual 4 to 5 hour window in which we could expect a service call, which is the standard these days. But I had to rush home when he called because we never got that courtesy call an hour before. The repair, as frustrating as the situation was, was made and we thought that would be end of that for a while.Things were fine until today when I discovered puddles of water on our wood floor as I was leaving for work. While mopping things up with a paper towel and trying to determine what the problem was, I discovered a frozen puddle of ice on the floor of the freezer when I pulled it out. This situation, obviously, was more urgent than the last one we had a few weeks prior so we were hoping for a bit more than the Well have someone come out on the 20th response I was given. It was only after jumping through hoops like a trained monkey at the circus and raising my voice a few times out of frustration, did we get a call from the actual repairman who said he would be out within a couple of hours.By his own admission, the small rubber seal the repairman replaced somewhere in the refrigerator, was known by the manufacturer to be an inferior part. He told us they are well aware of the problems caused by this inferior seal and that they eventually need to be replaced with one that is of better quality. Apparently, its cheaper for them to use the inferior one, and they choose to disregard the inconvenience, not to mention the potential damage that could be caused to a persons home because of it.We have a great many concerns on a great many levels surrounding this product and the way we were treated as paying, extended warranty consumers. This refrigerator was a major purchase for us. We placed our confidence in a company and a product we thought we could trust; not to mention making the assumption that if we paid good money for an extended warranty, a problem like this most recent one would meet with more of an eager attempt at getting us the help we needed without having to become as insistent and frustrated as we were forced to be.How disappointing to discover that spending over $2,000 on a major purchase like this and then being told we would have to wait 3 to 5 days for a repair. Having to take time off from work, or being told to wait for up to 5 days for any sort of help to replace a small rubber seal, known to be of inferior quality, that was replaced in 10 minutes is absurd. Think twice before spending hard-earned money on this product!! The tragic lesson, however, in all of this is the verbal confirmation by the repairman that just about all manufacturers are the same when it comes to corporations trying to save $$$ and blowing off the inconvenience and expense of their customers.

Bought this microwave combo oven from Lowes. Went to change the charcoal filters, as specified by the owners manual, and the top cover and the side cover fell apart when I removed the filter cover screws. After two appointments the service tech came out for about 5 minutes to tell me that only mechanical failure is covered by the extended warranty which I also purchased from Lowes. The problem with Whirlpool is that they make the top cover, and some other parts, with cheap thin plastic which crumbles when exposed to heat. The repair tech said, Dont worry. Ill see what I can do. And then he left. Actually the warranty booklet said wear and tear is covered in addition to mechanical failure. Its inexplicable to me why any manufacturer would use cheap plastic for an over the range product. And I intend to fight this until I get this appliance repaired under warranty.

My agitator-free washer began tearing small holes in my clothing and sheets
My agitator-free washer began tearing small holes in my clothing and sheets about one year after purchase. I contacted Whirlpool and they sent out a service person, who ran a diagnostic test on the washer and said it was fine and I should learn how to wash clothes and load the washer, etc. The barrel of this washer has little holes and I believe that when it spins the clothing, some pieces may stick in one of those holes causing tearing. The service person also told me that my clothes were old. I guess that means this washer is not for washing old clothing. The tears in my clothing are in places that are very unlikely to tear, like the back of my jeans behind the calf of a leg, about half way up from the ankle. There are holes in my tee shirts at the bottom of the back. Even if I were a smoker, which I am not, I would not likely burn holes in those areas. Whirlpool obviously does not want to accept responsibility for this problem, even though there are many other people having the same problem with this type of washer.

Despite always using the designated (he) detergents and trying many different brands in appropriate amounts, this washer always leaves an ugly white residue on clothes. This happens all the time, requiring whole loads of clothes to be rewashed, sometimes more than once. This defeats the whole purpose of conserving water, which is reflected in our water bill. We also placed the laundry room on the second floor to make it easier for me with my disabilities. I am constantly having to climb the stairs when the machine gets unbalanced in addition to the extra loads from the residue. I was very excited to purchase this machine. This is an energy efficient, expensive appliance that we expected to last for years and we feel that 2 1/2 years of service is unacceptable. We did not purchase an extended warranty and Whirlpool said they would help with the cost of parts - not labor. I bought my topload washer 2 years ago along with a dryer. The past month, the washer started sounding like an airplane, ready to take off, whenever the spin cycle was on. Then, it started to not start at all on certain cycles or would start to pump water in and then stop suddenly. I had a repair man in today, and it was not good news. He told me that he sees this a lot, especially with the Whirlpool washers and it is costly. The bearings are shot and will cost close to $500 for parts (alone), not costing the price to have it repaired. So now, I have called Whirlpool. The people there are very friendly and sympathetic. But even though I went as high as the supervisor (the highest authority I could speak to), he told me my washer is not on the recall list! I asked what it took to get it on one. Basically, my complaint was filed and end of story. Well, not quite. The supervisor was kind enough to give me the address for the Head Office for Whirlpool Canada. So people, start writing into this address and bombard them with your frustration: Whirlpool Executive Office, 200-6750 Century Avenue, Mississippi, Ontario L5N 0B7. If you have spoken to Whirlpool, ask for your reference number pertaining to your case and include it in your letter along with your phone number. In the meantime, I will be writing a lengthy letter; and I also went out today and bought another washer! Yes, it was not a Whirlpool, and I will never have another Whirlpool appliance in my home. And I will steer anyone away from this brand name. Good luck to all and start writing!

Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Washer Model WTW8800YC1 - I bought the Cabrio washer and dryer pair about 2 years ago at Lowes. About 5 weeks ago the lid fell apart. The hinge area came loose so now there are three pieces to line up (glass lid, metal arm, plastic frame), the fourth piece fell off completely. If you are successful at lining them up you can push the lid down and set a weight on it in order to wash. My first repairman said it was common issue. He expedited a lid. Three weeks later I called to find out when it may be repaired. He said he hadnt gotten the part from Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool... nice lady told me the part was on back order but should ship the first of the week. So on week 4 after not hearing anything I called a new appliance repair person. It is going to cost about $280 dollars to repair. This is one third the cost of a new washer??? I fight with this machine every day to get it to wash.

We are doing a kitchen remodel and I found the best price here. I was a little skeptical to order a range online, but I did go look at the exact range in the store and decided I would give it a try. I received email updates about the product and during delivery, I received 2 calls.... one to tell me approximately what time the range would be delivered and another when the driver was about 20 minutes away. All around good service.

I bought a Whirlpool 5-burner gas range with double oven at a cost of $1700. Almost immediately, the finish above the oven started cracking and now is starting to chip off. When I contacted them, they stated cosmetics were only good for 30 days. We had just moved and were getting settled so we didnt use the range much for the first 30 days. I am very unhappy with this product and also unhappy with Sears for their lack of effort.

We bought this Whirlpool two door side by side refrigerator freezer at Lowes at what seem like a good deal, until the problems start. On the refrigerator side everything freezes just as solid as the freezer side. We get to looking and find there is no air filter/damper installed. Try to call Whirlpool and you can forget it. 37 Minutes wait time, then a recording comes back and says now your wait time is 47 minutes, long story short you just get put on hold. No help what so ever. Lowes did give us an air filter. But we still got rock solid fresh eggs in the refrigerator. So it was not such a great deal after all. My wife has one big headache and mad as a hornet at Whirlpool. Bet we dont buy another Fridge from them. If I were you Id stay away from Whirlpool products. Have a great day.

4 years ago, we purchased a Model UMV1160CW-3 over the range microwave. After 14 months the door cracked around the handle and eventually fell off. We made the HUGE mistake of buying the same model for ease of installation thinking that this would be a typical issue. We purchase another duplicate model in April of 2016 and less than 16 months later the same issue occurred. Spoke to customer service on 12/28/2018 and they told me that they would pick up the cost of the parts but I would be responsible for labor which actually exceeded the cost of the microwave. Exceedingly poor-quality product and support. Will not purchase another Whirlpool appliance.

I purchased a new gas water heater and had it installed by a plumber. It worked for 3 weeks then we lost hot water. I called the 877 number and got shoveled around to 3 or 4 people. I got hung up on twice then spent 45 minutes repeating all the instructions that are on the tank to relight the pilot light. They agreed to send a new valve. The first time, I never received the valve (after 10 days) and had to call back. The second time I called in, I spent 20 minutes trying to get another valve sent. The valve I, finally, received had plumbers dope on the back and clearly was previously used. Had the original plumber replace the faulty valve? And lo and behold, the second valve didnt work either. I have no idea why a gas water heater would have any issues after 3 weeks. I bought it brand new from Lowe’s. It is obvious that Whirlpool makes shoddy products. They have very poor customer service and care little for the customers’ time either in correcting the problem or being without hot water. I have spent over 2 hours with Whirlpool. Only to 3 weeks after the initial call, I still do not have hot water from a heater that is less than 2 months old! I called them on the issue of the second valve not working and they put me on hold (after 10 minutes the line went dead and I was disconnected) despite the fact I asked them not to do that!

This is an AMAZING dryer. Probably the best I've ever used. My husband & I live in a mobile home so our main reason for purchase is the fact it is VENTLESS & it's compact. The dryer is so quiet. You can hardly hear it with a tv going. It doesn't take any more time to dry than another modern dryer. The end result are damp clothes, however there is enough steam and heat left in the bin at the end of the cycle to where if you fluff the clothes they'll be dry in a matter of seconds. The dryer acts as a dehumidifier by capturing moisture from the air it uses. All the features are up to date and easy to figure out. It's worked extremely well since we've had it and I'm happy to say we LOVE IT!

We called up the customer care person on 18002081800 and tried asking him the dimensions of the plate pr at least how we could reorder it. He never listened to us. He just got our details. Said that technician will come at 11am tomorrow and disconnected the call when we were trying to explain what our query is all about. Is that all the respect a customer deserves!? Is that how whirlpool trains their service people!? He doesnt even have the basic courtesy to listen to the customer, I wonder how was he even recruited as a customer care person. After the pilot light on my water heater would no longer stay lit, I contacted the Whirlpool technical support number listed on the unit only to be told my unit was still under warranty, but I would be responsible to pay a $65 diagnostic fee and any labor associated with a repair. The technician came and said my ventilation system was the problem and didnt even touch the unit. He then sent a report to Whirlpool that the unit was flooded which voided my warranty. He did not submit photos to substantiate his water damage claim and now Im being told the unit is unsafe and must be replaced at my expense. This all sounds like collusion to not honor the warranty! We had our microwave and stove delivered in October, 2015. We had 4 deliveries of the microwave. The first two were damaged, the third needed a new fan motor and the door was not straight. They wanted to send parts to fix but we could not see spending all that money for a brand new microwave to have parts put in. I complained a lot to both Whirlpool who would not replace it and ABC Warehouse who finally agreed to replace it with a brand new one. The 4th is good. (so far). Our stove has a flaw in the glass top, the drawer doesnt close properly, and there is a piece of metal sticking out from the lower right side of the oven door. ABC says they cannot do anything about it and Whirlpool says it is under a parts warranty so it has to be repaired. I even spoke to supervisor Kimberly at Whirlpool. Got same answer. We are very angry and disappointed. As I told the Kimberly, Whirlpool got every penny they asked for. We paid for brand new in perfect condition and got a stove that needs fixing. We will never recommend Whirlpool as a Company for appliances and based on all the negative reviews Ive read, neither will a lot of other people.

I purchased a condo last year with all appliances included. My Whirlpool refrigerator model is GI6SDRXXY00, a fairly new refrigerator. I noticed orange and moldy spots on ices when dispensing them. I changed the filter, thought maybe it is the filter causing the issue. But after inserting the new filter and emptying the entire ice tray, I still get bad ice! I open the compartment, and surprisingly, found out that the spiral rod inside the ice dispenser was rusted! This is horrible and unacceptable! This is not a user fault but a manufacturing defect. The parts that are in direct contact with what customer consumes should be robust and safe. I contacted customer service, and they gave me a technician phone number which turned out to be a third party which only cares about money. They said they will inspect the refrigerator and will charge me $134.00. I will not use this refrigerator anymore and will replace it soon. AND I will never purchase any more Whirlpool products. This manufacturer is crossed out from my list of vendors who I do business with.

[Model WTW6300WW0, Type 580] A few years ago Whirlpool goofed - they left out the Perma-press cycle on a high-efficiency washing machine model. We noticed the absence of Perma-press (or Casual as it sometimes now called) on the shop floor, and were assured we could arrive at the same results with the dizzying array of buttons that allow the consumer to tailor the cycles to their wash load. It turns out that it doesnt allow this. Buttons are disabled on some of the cycles, thereby preventing recreating a Perma-press cycle. No amount of prodding... Whirlpool has provided me with an override for the combination of a normal wash and a gentle spin that comprise a typical Perma-press cycle. On contacting Whirlpool about the missing cycle, they claim consumers no longer want the Perma-press cycle. Puzzled by this statement, I returned to the showroom floor to see for myself. All the washers have Perma-press cycles. Whirlpool goofed with this model. They left it out. They have not provided a replacement machine for a consumer who blows this whistle on their goof. Among the solutions their customer support DID provide: add softeners to the rinse cycle and add dryer sheets to the dryer to reduce wrinkles [by purchasing a high-efficiency machine, we aimed to reduce waste, not increase it]. Among their invalid suggestions: choose the Casual cycle [there is no Casual cycle setting on this machine]; choose Normal cycle, then set spin speed to low [this machine disables the low speed choice on the Normal cycle]; on this machine the Perma-press cycle is renamed Delicate [Wrong. Delicate only swishes clothes back and forth, not robust enough for business shirt colors and cuffs]; on this machine the Perma-press cycle is renamed Colors [Wrong. Business shirts come out too wrinkled on Colors]. There has been nothing I can do to convince Whirlpool that they produced a lemon in this model [Model WTW6300WW0, Type 580] and should replace it with a normal washing machine. I have tried for years, only for Whirlpool to come to the same conclusion: its the consumers problem now, not theirs.

Our Whirlpool Duet Washer pair is 2.5 yrs old. The washer didnt work at first, but a repairman found the problem and fixed it right up. They have not broken. The dryer has been fine and we have had them stacked for most of the time without any issues. My problem sounds minor compared to those others listed here, but this thing is ruining all our white or light colored clothes. They go in white, and come out covered with splotchy, dirty looking spots literally all over them! They werent that kind of dirty when they went in. It’s the oddest thing, like it makes dirt. Reading some of these concerns makes me wonder if it has a mold problem inside somewhere, and that is what is ruining our clothes. Tax return is coming and it is going. End of story.

I also contacted Whirlpool and was told I could call for service for several weeks since it was still under warranty. I asked why call for service when I was told it could not be fixed. I did have it serviced again and told it was a problem with the design. Numerous items of clothing were ruined which I showed the technician. He gave me a phone number to contact Whirlpool. They in turn said there was nothing they could do for me. I usually place items in laundry bags for delicate fabrics but for obvious reasons not all items fit in a bag. We decided to upgrade to the Whirlpool Cabrio Elite set after 20 years of having the same washer and dryer. Yes, they were still working after 20 years, but we wanted the bigger and better and shinier appliances when we bought our new house. The dryer is fine. Dries a load in 38 minutes. The washer is a regular POS that never should have been put on the market. The best thing about this washer is that it has a transparent lid that allows you to watch your laundry getting dirtier as it washes. Its less than a year old so I havent had the problems with the bearings and such yet, but as far as cleaning, it DOES NOT DO THE JOB! My blacks have white residue on them EVERY SINGLE time I wash them. I end up washing/rinsing/rinsing my darks which definitely defeats the save water function. A regular load takes an hour to wash, and then another hour to rewash, which definitely isnt time saving. My whites are grey and often come out with the same dirt on them as they had going in. Im talking about dirt that you can scrape off with your fingernail, which tells me that they arent even getting wet, nevermind washed. The large capacity is a myth, since-- as per instructions--you can only line the dirty clothes around the centre hub without covering the little silver bump in the centre, or else the clothes wont come clean. This wastes a large amount of capacity. In a nutshell, your darks will come out dirtier, your whites will come out dingier, you waste more water from rewashing, you waste more time and electricity due to long wash cycle and rewashing. I will never buy another Whirlpool ANYTHING again.

We bought our stainless and black Whirlpool stove last month. We love that its black topped, and doesnt show dirt. We love how the oven door seals, and the fast heat. I have been complaining since 2 months after I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio washer. It is the most expensive piece of junk I have ever bought. There is never enough water to thoroughly wash clothes. The clothes always tangle up. The UL comes on all the time because it is unleveled and clothes were so knotted up that I can’t get them out of the washing machine. I keep calling and complaining, but all I get from Whirlpool is that I need to sort my clothes better and not wash all pants together because the legs will get tangled. So, do I wash some of my dark paints with towels just to keep them from tangling up? I don’t think so. I paid $750.00 for this piece of **. It should wash a mink coat for that price. I keep checking websites in hopes that there is a recall on this thing. For sure, though, I will never buy another Whirlpool product after this purchase.

Hello, Here is our story. We bought this refrigerator Whirlpool - 26.2 Cu. Ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator through a local reputable retailer. After 16 months we started to have problems with ice melting in the ice bin. We continued to have problems related to cooling/freezing within the refrigerator to the point where almost all the major parts were replaced. The good news is the dealer negotiated with Whirlpool to have all repair costs covered after the first visit. I asked about just getting us a new refrigerator and was told Whirlpool requires a part to be replaced 3 (THREE) TIMES before consideration. In summary, the refrigerator could not be fixed and was condemned in agreement with both Whirlpool and the Dealer. Here is the interesting news - since the refrigerator was out of warranty (12 months and now we are at 18 months), they are requiring we pay $600+ for the replacement. Buyer beware - either pay for the extended warranty or risk having to be inconvenienced by having your refrigerator unavailable for days or in our case, weeks!

I bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator at Home Depot for about $700. Six months later, suddenly, it starts making an intermittent but constant loud grinding noise and then the squeaking started. I called Home Depot first because I bought the protection plan. They referred me to Whirlpool who said the protection plan doesn’t kick in until another year after the warranty ends. It makes these noises whenever it runs, which seems to be more often (that it is running). Whirlpool may still charge $120 just for someone to come look at it even though it is under warranty. I asked another repair place and they said it might void my warranty for them to look at it instead. Whirlpool said it wouldn’t void the warranty but they would only work on it after the first repair person was finished. I’m waiting for the repair guy to come and see why it is making these loud noises. Another person with more knowledge of fridges than I have listened to the noises and said it sounds like friction in a motor. I read a review of the fridge that said the reviewer had problems after only 6 months and I thought that must be a fluke. Apparently not.

We purchased the largest Whirlpool Cabrio Washer (over $1100 value) 3.5 years ago, and had nothing but trouble out of it. The drum has had to be replaced twice, the motor once, and then supposedly a bolt kept coming off on the drum as well, that had to be tightened twice. Now, we dont know what is wrong with it - we suspect suspension imbalance or something, because this extra large capacity washer is constantly unbalanced even with 6 articles of fabric in it now, and I dont even think about putting even what would be considered a medium-large load in it, because it flat up will not wash. You can put a level on it, and it shows leveled, but it still wont operate worth anything. My wife is so put out by it at this point that she has even talked about getting an old ringer washer (seriously). Sears keeps coming out here because we had purchased the extended warranty and truly if they had simply replaced the washer after the 2nd trip to the house, they would have more than paid for the replacement washer even. Instead, they keep coming, looking at it, then having to order parts, and then come back a couple weeks later to put the shipped parts (which sit around our house), back in to repair it each time. All the while, we go without a washer or barely can wash any clothes. We have even taken clothes to the laundromat during one of the repair instances, because we cant just have mounds of clothes piled up for their month-long service. It is ridiculous how little it seems that Sears and Whirlpool care about their customers. I have gone to Whirlpool and Sears Home Services sites and complained at both. I have called both of their 800 lines in the past and again, this yielded nothing to truly depict either company cares. It just goes to prove that customer satisfaction is far less valuable to either of these companies than the bottom dollar profits in our opinion. I dont know where else to post our concerns/frustrations, so anyone can see how put out these two companies have caused us and dont care, but if anyone knows of anywhere else I can post blogged concerns, please let me know.I have complained previously about a dishwasher that we had purchased that we had numerous issues with. Those complaints fell on deaf ears to Whirlpool and really Sears as well. I dont think all the washers are duds, but this one has been nothing but trouble, and Sears wont just replace it, Whirlpool dont care. I have been given the runaround that it is because there arent three (3) service calls in a 12-month period for the exact same issue. Well, I am sorry that it doesnt appear to be just one thing! I have had it with these services calls, parts having to be ordered, only to hit the crazy repeat button again every time! This is far from good customer service, in my opinion, but rather a way to ensure the most profit is achieved! Thanks.Sears and Whirlpool have the worst customer service ever!

This complaint refers to model number ET8MHKXMB. It was purchased in November of 2008 and the fan had to be replaced on May 29, 2012. The cost of this repair was $189.79. This is a terrible thing to have happened. Obviously, the fan was made cheaply. We are very dissatisfied and will not purchase another Whirlpool refrigerator ever!

I am having the very same problem with my french door stainless steel Whirlpool gold refrigerator. Water pooling in the bottom of freezer, freezing into a solid sheet and then leaking onto the floor. It is less than 2 years old. Apparently, this is a significant defect in this problem seeing how so many people are having the same problem with the same fridge. Has anyone reported to BBB? Im thinking class action lawsuit. Im getting ready to have to repair my kitchen floors as a result of this defect. I will be talking to my brother-in-law attorney about this and will post his response/recommendation. Whirlpool should stand behind their product and make this right.

Update Review on 10/15/2020: New refrigerator 12/31/19. 4/27/20 Fridge terribly noisy, called Whirlpool directed to local provider. 5/5/20 Fan replaced, drawer clip broken. 5/11/20 Drawer repaired. 5/21/20 Fridge not keeping up, repair company said new compressor needed. 7/6/20 After numerous calls and literally hours on hold with Whirlpool compressor install but still seemed noisy. 9/30/20 Fridge partially cooling, no ice and water dispenser not working. Repair company ordered new evaporator cover and UI panel.10/15/20 Neither the repair company or Whirlpool know when the parts will be delivered. Whirlpool has no record of their being a service call or parts ordered. I talked to one rude, unhelpful and uninformed service rep. After following their instructions and using their recommended warranty provider, they claim not to have the issues in their system and cant be used to determine the repair/replacement of their unit. He indicated, You need 3 major repairs in 30 days to get a replacement fridge. It took them 6 1/2 weeks to repair the compressor. How can it break that many times in 30 days with that bad of service. Nothing is repaired in 30 days. The current rep seems to care and have a working knowledge. She is sending a request to determine when a part might be delivered. She couldnt give any indication of when the part might be delivered to complete the repair. Days? Weeks? Or again Months? An hour and a half on the phone with very little progress. New refrigerator with 3 major repairs and one small one in 9 months. Terrible refrigerator and extremely poor service! Go with another brand.Original Review: Refrigerator new in January 2020. The first issue was an extremely loud fan.It was replaced. While being repaired, service tech broke a tab on the door. (It happens) Another call to replace the tab. During May I notice its not making ice and freezer isnt keeping up. Lose all items in freezer. Now the 4th call on new refrigerator, tech says needs a compressor and orders while at my house. Soon the refrigerator isnt keeping cool. Now 34 days later, still not fixed. Whirlpool service provider blames Whirlpool. Whirlpool says they are shipping compressors but cant exactly say mine is delivered. Apparently, 4 service calls in 5 months and over a month with a totally broken refrigerator is their bar for a good product and service. Neither their approved service provider or Whirlpool care in the least. Awful service. Try another brand!

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5640XW and I was able to get the belt back onto the pulley, about a month back and it ran, loudly, but it ran. Last week the belt popped off again and now the pulleys are screwed, so I probably won’t buy another motor (for the sake of the pulley). Ill get a front loaded Kenmore or something as I was never completely happy with how this thing washed and (didnt dry) our clothes.

I bought these products 2 1/2 years ago along with a dishwasher and Microwave, all which are Gold Series. The first month my Microwave broke. Instead of a certain part that they used to use, they now use a Capacitor instead and it broke. The repairman fixed it under warranty, but told me Ill be seeing you again. Then, my oven occasionally says Function not available. Whirlpool wont tell me what the problem might be and they have nothing for troubleshooting this problem in their manual. My only solution is to reset the circuit breaker and then it works for awhile. Now, My refrigerator has ice building up at the bottom of my freezer and leaking all over my floor. I found a Whirlpool bulletin online which explains that this problem is because of a defective part (Grommet) and that they have a replacement part for it and you can get it by calling their customer service department. Why didnt they send out recall notices to their customers? So, on 8/10/2015 and 8/11/2015 I tried getting this new p-trap part, but for two days now Whirlpools computers arent working and they have no other way of looking this stuff up. Very poor customer service and I also waited for a half hour on the phone to be told their computers arent working. How about putting a message on their pre-recorded message letting customers know their computers arent working?

This machine does not clean the clothes well, keeps an odor even after using Clorox (probably due to water inside that never leaves), and does not spin the clothes well. Every washing is longer than traditional washers and then I must use the spin-only cycle twice (adding another 30 minutes). I must also shake the inside of the tub to get the spin to work at all. The tech came out and re-calibrated, but to no advantage. Terrible machine and should be, as one viewer said, under recall, in my opinion. NOT WORTH THE MONEY -- and I am very disappointed in Whirlpool.

Good News!! Finally a permanent fix & possible recall. My Whirlpool Gold bottom freezer was 18 months old and Out of Warranty. It leaked water on my floor like all the rest. I called and was told I had to pay the service charge. Speak with a SUPERVISOR!!! They sent a repairman who said a Kit had just come out to fix this. I had to defrost the unit for a day and he returned with the kit. Part number is W10309238. The repairman believes they will be doing a recall and fix these drains. Insist on speaking with a Supervisor!!! Get results, they will do it as it is a design flaw. The repair took about twenty minutes. Here in Ottawa, Ontario call Youngs Appliance for more info.

I purchased this Whirlpool Aqualift oven at now bankrupt HH Gregg so my recourse is limited. I loved the look of the slide in range and the salesman raved about the quality of this appliance. First the ceramic top is a nightmare to keep clean, not mentioned at purchase. The Aqualift feature is totally useless. I use my oven on a very limited basis. Putting water in the bottom of oven does absolutely nothing to clean oven and even less on sides and oven door. I spent a substantial amount of money on this so called self clean oven and I am so disappointed in results. It does not get off even a minimum of spots, I would hate to have something actually spill over. Aqualift does not work and then you are advised to not use anything else to clean it, so what now?

Then I saw my cat sitting on the floor and looking up at the microwave... It was then I noticed that the glass on the front was all crazed and making a tinkling sound. Several pieces had fallen on the stove top underneath. I had to call the repair man who said he had never heard of this before. He had to remove the door. I could not use my stove with the danger of glass falling in to food. He had to order a new door and I had to spend $65 then. When he puts the door in, it will be another $200 or more.

My Whirlpool range, was purchased 14 years ago. It was fine until 2 months ago. I was preparing a meal for a dinner party and the oven went from low baking into Clean mode. (This cant be done by accident, it is many step process to go into clean mode) Locking the door! When I realized what was happening I immediately turned the breaker off but we still could not open the range door. Since the oven had my potato casserole and my Teflon coated cookie sheets inside it started to emit a toxic smell choking all of us inside the house. The unit was too hot to touch so my husband and brother-in-law finally donned gloves and got the range outside. I called Whirlpool the next morning and got the run around as to what type of range it was Kenmore/Whirlpool. Whirlpool finally sent someone out to look at the range and their determination was it caught on fire and melted! The company will not do anything about the unit or all the damage it cause because the range is over 10 years old. But they did not tell me this until I had spent weeks getting estimates and gathering information for them. I TOLD THEM DURING THE INITIAL CALL THE RANGE WAS 14 YEARS OLD. I TOLD THEM THE EXACT DATE IT WAS PURCHASED. Whirlpool sent me a letter from their Claims Resolution Department saying my DISHWASHER will not be covered and misspelling my last name. I have tried to call the person ** at least 25 times and she never answers the phone, only get her voicemail. I just wanted to tell them I was a little concerned about their accuracy with the typing of the name and product..... How complete could the investigation have been if they didnt even get the product correct. The smoke/smell ruined my microwave and ceiling fan. We had to paint the ceiling, redo wallpaper and professionally clean all the carpets and drapes on my first floor (we had just remodeled our kitchen last May so this was an expensive redo not in the budget. Not to mention the cost of a new range). I will NEVER buy a Whirlpool again. And I want to spread the word about the possibility of your range having the same problem.

Bought this Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine 4 years ago not knowing it was a low level water washing machine. A man would have had to design this piece of crap. Not only does it not clean the clothes because the agitation on it is as slow as sloth. On top of that the clothes tie themselves in a knot when finished. If you don’t want the frustration of clothes washing, I would highly recommend you not buy this type, if you enjoy cussing then this machine is for you.

The best you can hope for is to utilize lots of fabric softeners to at the least make your clothes smell clean because they surely wont be. Dont even get me started on the load lock feature because it serves no purpose other than to drive you batty. When your 15 year old son offers to give you money to buy a new washer after owning the one you just bought there is nothing I could say more profound than that. Purchased new from Best Buy for over $1000. One or two months after the warranty expired the ice through the door malfunctioned, would only spit out crushed all over the floor then clog up. Didnt bother to repair it, just open the freezer. Next, the door would not seal right and frost builds up in my frost free. Also, the ice delivery wont close tight. Now the unit is about 3 years old and I just finished paying it off and all the door shelves are cracking. Contacted Whirlpool and was told by email politely, Too bad. We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Conns Appliances on 2/2/12. It worked fine until about 2 months ago. Then it started freezing food in the refrigerator. We called Conns, and they sent a technician to replace the thermostat. A couple of days later, it was still freezing food. So we called Conns again. They sent a second technician. He called Whirlpool tech support, and they told him to adjust the position of the thermostat sensor. A couple of more days went by, and food was still freezing. The problem had gotten even worse.I called the manager at Conns and suggested that we should consider replacement since the previous 2 technicians were unable to solve the problem. He sent a third technician. Tech #3 called Whirlpool tech support and re-adjusted the sensor. He said there wasnt a lot they could do and that if I wanted to get it replaced, I would need to call Whirlpool.I called Whirlpool Customer Service and explained everything that had happened. They told me they would need to send another technician. I asked why, since 3 technicians had already looked at it. She said there were different levels of service and they would have to send someone from their authorized service company, as if Conns is not authorized. I asked if this problem was common in this model of refrigerator. She said she could research that if I could hold, so I said ok. After being on hold for several minutes, she came back and said she couldnt find any record of this being a repetitive problem.I didnt have a thermometer, and I thought if I had more concrete evidence of the problem, then maybe they would replace the refrigerator. So I put a glass of water in the middle of the top shelf. Within 24 hours, it was frozen solid as an ice cube!Technician #4 came and called Whirlpool tech support. This time, they told him that this had been a problem ever since this model came out and they had a fix that had been on the books since day 1. So the customer service lady obviously lied to me. Technician #4 stuffed a piece of Styrofoam in the hole where the air comes from the freezer into the refrigerator and he re-adjusted the thermostat sensor. I asked if we could just replace the unit and be done with it, but he said we had to wait and see if his fix worked.I went to Ace Hardware and bought a refrigerator thermometer. Two days later, we had frozen strawberries, frozen lettuce, frozen milk, and even the meat and cheese were freezing. My thermometer said temperature was 32 degrees. I called Whirlpool back and insisted that they replace the refrigerator. They told me The unit was not authorized for replacement and they needed a 2nd opinion. I was very angry. I told them there had already been 4 opinions and a 5th wasnt necessary. I wasnt getting anywhere, so I asked for a supervisor. They transferred me to someone named Sue. Sue told me the same thing - not authorized, need a 2nd opinion. I told her that I work at The Mens Wearhouse and that if a customer spent that much money on a suit and had trouble with it, they certainly would not have to bring it back 5 times to have it re-tailored. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said, Sir, my supervisor doesnt speak to consumers. I could not believe my ears. Where would they be without consumers? I was so mad I hung up on her.Later, I realized I had no options and called to request the 2nd opinion. I was told that the technician could authorize the unit for replacement. They also told me I couldnt get a technician for a week because their technicians were all booked up repairing their faulty products. I had no choice but to wait. I moved my thermometer to the bottom of the refrigerator to see if the temperature was the same there as on the top. The temperature there fluctuated between 28 and 34 degrees. I called Conns to tell them the story, thinking maybe they would go to bat for one of their customers. They told me this should never have happened and that the matter should be escalated to their home office and that a manager would contact me within 30 minutes. He never called. Two days after that phone call, I went to Conns to speak to the manager. I told him the whole story and told him that if Whirlpool would not replace the refrigerator, then I would have no choice but to contact Discover (my payment method for the original purchase) and dispute the charges. I pointed out that even though it should be Whirlpool paying for it, his store would take the hit if Discover reversed the charges. He called someone and told me a Conns service manager would contact me within 48 hours.More waiting. Technician #5 came. I told him he was to authorize the unit for replacement. He said he couldnt do that and that Whirlpool tells all their customers that just to get them off the phone. He re-adjusted the temperature sensor and left. I was livid. Now the problem went the other way. The temperature wouldnt go below 50 degrees. We filled an ice chest with food and ice and began living out of it. The Conns service manager called and said he would have to send a technician. This would be #6. I was very angry with the service manager and called Discover to dispute the charges. Discover opened an investigation, sent a letter to Conns (and maybe Whirlpool, Im not sure) and issued a credit to my credit card account.#6 came and re-adjusted the thermostat sensor. The next morning, he called to see how it was doing. The temperature was still around 50 degrees. He wanted to come and adjust it again. I told him to get the unit replaced! So he submitted paperwork to request a replacement. He called back and said that he felt sorry for us because he knew we had a 3-month-old baby in the house. Since the replacement had been requested, Conns wouldnt pay him to come again; but he said he would come on his own time, on his lunch break, and readjust the sensor in hopes that it would get us by while we waited for a replacement. He said it might take 3-4 days to get the replacement. I told him he could come, so this was technical visit #7. He adjusted the sensor. The next day, the temperature was still 50 degrees.I called the service manager at Conns to confirm that they had requested the replacement. He said the paperwork was submitted, that the home office would review it, make a decision, and that we should know something in a couple of days. That was on Wednesday. On Monday afternoon, I called him again. He said the paperwork wasnt submitted to home office until Saturday and that he was expecting to hear from them by end of day Tuesday. In the meantime, we were still living out of an ice chest.I had already determined that Whirlpool wasnt going to help me, and now, Conns was giving me the runaround. That afternoon, I was working on a project at work with a lady who was fairly new in our company. Turns out she used to work at the Conns home office and she knew people in high places there. She called a VP on my behalf. The next morning, I got a call from the VP telling me that I could get a replacement. I dont think I would have gotten my replacement if I hadnt bumped into the lady who used to work at Conns.I called Conns store, and they said a credit had been issued and I could come to the store and pick out whatever I wanted up to the amount of the credit. I knew I didnt want another Whirlpool. The selection was very limited, but I found a Frigidaire that I thought might work. Then they told me I would have to pay extra for an ice maker, even though I had bought the ice maker for the Whirlpool that was being replaced. I argued with the manager until finally he agreed to give me the ice maker, delivery, and installation.Yesterday, Conns called to tell me they were coming in the afternoon to install the refrigerator. They had the audacity to ask me what was the matter with the unit they were replacing! They did come and replace the unit. But wait...Thats not all! This morning, the ice maker had not made any ice, even after running all night long. Conns sent a technician today, and he said all of the parts were not installed and it was preventing proper water flow. He is coming back on Tuesday to install the missing parts. So we still arent done. I dont know if Im more angry with Whirlpool or with Conns. Whirlpool did not honor their warranty and Conns got stuck with it. But then Conns provided poor service too. I got stuck in the middle, and it still isnt fully resolved.

Now we have problems with fridge - the plastic inside the fringe is cracking. We called Whirlpool customer support and Whirlpool do not even want to hear it about the problems - they just want that same authorized technician will came to your apartment to inspect these problems for $95, it is not even important whose fault it is. As described in many similar instances found on numerous complaint boards (including this one), Whirlpool has defective over the range microwave convection ovens (model # GMH6185XVS) with faulty magnatrons. I have had the exact same experience with a new product failing at 16 months (the first time) and within 6 months failing again. Whirlpool is not concerned about their consumers, only their money. They are more than happy to sell an extended warranty, but are not willing to work with customers that have lemon products.I tried working with Whirlpool customer support with little assistance other than to offer to sell me a $250 extended warranty. I additionally filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau concerning Whirlpool to include over 10 pages in documentation with numerous people reporting this same complaint. Whirlpool is still not willing to acknowledge they have faulty or defective components in their product and so generously offered to pay for the replacement component (only - not the service to repair it).I spent $600 on this unit new, $163 to repair it the first time (at 16 months old) and no doubt it will cost me an additional $163 to repair it again (not even 6 months after the first repair). I am not willing to continue to throw good money after bad on a defective unit. For the cost of the repairs and their extended warranty, it is cheaper to buy a new unit from a different manufacturer. It is clear from this site (in addition to numerous others) that Whirlpool has a definite quality problem - both in products and service!

We purchased 4.0 cu. ft. Cabrio Top Load Washer with 6th Sense Technology MODEL WTW7340XW2 on 11/20/2011. We are a small family of 3 so use of the machine is light. We noticed a strange sound and some leaks a week ago and called in a technician recommended on the Whirlpool website. To our horror he informed us that we need to replace the tub bearing assembly, rotor and stator - to a cost of $1095! This machine is not even 3 years old. Did we buy a lemon? I called Whirlpool. They were simply not interested. The online chat person sent me to the Whirlpool Customer Experience Team where I was told that I should buy an insurance plan to cover the costs of repairs. They then sent me on to the insurance department who want me to pay $338 to buy a repair plan to have the machine fixed. And then referred me to the Manufacturing division when I wanted to know how to escalate the problem - and if you call that number - there is no option to deal with problems - seriously?!? Is this what I should expect when buying the Whirlpool brand?
