KSSC42QTS02 - This product was purchased five years ago. Kitchenaid does not offer replacement parts for the unit. I have to wait 4-6 weeks for Kitchenaid to process a claim and then they will let me know what they are going to do. In the meantime, I have no refrigerator and am now faced with having to go purchase one because I have three small children and cant live out of ice coolers for 2 months.

In our conversion to stainless steel we decided on KitchenAid. We got a bundle deal and purchase three appliances from Lowes and, though I normally never do, I purchased the extended warranty. The microwave (MODEL # KCMS1655BSS) quit working within the first year, still under factory warranty. They brought a new one and out of the box, it did not work! They brought another one and it is still working. Shortly after the first year the oven (MODEL # KEBS179BSS00) was not able to consistently get over 400 degrees. After about 6 service calls and replacing two circuit boards and a temp sensor, it appears to be fixed. The problem is, anytime a part is needed to be replaced, it takes at least 2 service calls. The first one to troubleshoot the problem and say, you need a new (part), and then they order it and the second one to install the part. Jump forward a couple months and the refrigerator (MODEL # KFIS29PBMS00) stops making ice. This problem actually started while we were still dealing with the oven problems! I called in the fridge and before the tech even came out, I realized that it was a cooling problem as my ice cream turned to soup. I called Lowes extended warranty and let them know the problem was not the ice maker but a cooling problem. The tech still came out to troubleshoot the ice maker. I pointed out the problem was cooling, showing him the item in the freezer that were thawing. What does he do, order a new ice maker. After probably a dozen service calls and several replaced parts, I told them I wanted my money back. Reading the extended warranty from Lowes, it says that if the appliance is repaired three times for the same problem that they will buy it back from you. They cut me a check for my purchase price and I went to Home Depot and bought a new Fridge, GE this time. I was very unhappy with KitchenAid and very unhappy with Lowes service techs. I was an electronics tech in the Air Force and I was doing better at troubleshooting this problem than these people were. They were so clueless. Warning, KitchenAid and Whirlpool are the same thing! I will say that the extended warranty served it purpose and we did not have to spend a dime on any of these service calls, that is good. But for the three appliances there were probably 23 service calls in less than 2 years! Those are all days that I have to be home between 8 and 1 or 1 and 5. I always pick the earlier time slot. The vast majority of the time I would get a call around 12:50 letting me know they were on the way. They usually showed up well after 1:00, closer to 2:00, not leaving until 3 or later. My day is shot at that point. Thats 23 days of my life I sat in my house waiting for a service technician in just 2 years.

As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago
As part of a complete KitchenAid appliance package purchase three years ago, we purchased a KitchenAid Fridge Model KRFF707ESS01. Rather than take the specced Frigidaire appliance group that was included with our new home purchase, we elected to spend the extra money believing KitchenAid was a superior product. During the past year, we have encountered some of the inner cabinet led lights not functioning and others flickering on and off. We have determined that it isn’t a simple fix such as a door switch, but rather defective led lights and or an led emitter control board. It appears this is a common problem, however KitchenAid is not acknowledging it as a manufacturer defect.I have read a number of online posts reporting the same issues. The reviewers report having replaced faulty led lights, only to have the same problem reoccur. In one case the reviewer stated they were advised that nothing could be done to remedy the problem. I strongly advise you to not buy a KitchenAid fridge with this led lighting design. Repairs are either extremely costly or impractical as the problem will only reoccur. A highly respected technician in our area has confirmed that this is a common problem with KitchenAid fridges. This is a manufacturer defect and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

I have two pairs of the dishwasher drawers with custom wood panels and one pair started to make loud whirring noises and then would beep incessantly, resulting in us turning off the breaker switch to get it to stop. Then, the bottom drawer stopped draining and held water in the tub all the time. The repair man quoted me over $900.00 for the repair. He suggested that I not repair it, and I agreed with him. Now, my second pair is making loud noises and I am afraid it is on its way to death as well. I am so disappointed in these dishwashers. I am going to start a Facebook group to see how may others have defective dish drawers.

4 years ago when we built our new home, we bought a high end KitchenAid dishwasher - retailed at $1800. The big attraction was how quiet it was supposed to be - and it is. However, in the past 8 months the control panel has gone out THREE times! At $150 for the part, and another $150 for service call and labor to replace it, it has reached the point of absurdity. The cycle times are also erratic. Sometimes it will take 4 hours! to go through a normal wash cycle, and others maybe 2. It has seemed to clean well, and it is quiet. But... the ridiculous lack of dependability makes KitchenAid no longer a desirable product.

I came to this site to see what others are saying about KitchenAid... it just made me angrier but justified my feelings! I, too, purchased ALL KitchenAid appliances for my renovated kitchen. HUGE MISTAKE! The appliances are less than 2 years old. My refrigerator has been broken for literally 3 months today, after MANY calls to KitchenAid and then Whirlpool - their parent company - I have a repair company coming to replace the CONDENSER! A huge job that takes 5 hours.. that is what I was told. The first time they came, they misdiagnosed so I had to make another appointment. The second trip they told me I needed a part. I make the appointment and have to take the day off of work (they wont do warranty work on Saturdays-- they actually said that) so Im waiting for the 12-3 window of arrival. At 11:45 THAT day I get a call its the wrong part... KitchenAid and Whirlpool has been NO help! I cant even talk about the stove and oven!! It just shuts off in the middle of cooking!!!! But yet the gas keeps blasting! So while I think something is in the oven cooking, waiting for timer... it shut off! I am afraid to even use this oven!! Again, no help, no assistance from KitchenAid. The Rep tells me to reset my breaker when this happens... I have no choice BUT to do that but this is not normal! My stove should not just shut off! And the dishwasher??? Please... more of the same! I will never again buy any KitchenAid or Whirlpool product or any product under the Whirlpool company! Nothing but issues since the day they were installed!I heard great things about GE but I wanted KitchenAid... my HUGE mistake. If only I had the finances to get all new appliances!!

My kitchenaid refrigerator would not work from day one. The cost and parts
My kitchenaid refrigerator would not work from day one. The cost and parts and labor are over 3,000.00 dollars and they are coming today because it is not making ice. I have tried to get help does not matter. You all wont do anything. I paid 2,600.00 for the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. Every part has been changed and something will go wrong in the next few mo. Count on that. I tell everyone I know not to buy KitchenAid. This need to get reviewed.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator just over 1 year ago and have been having issues with the ice maker since about month 10. I just dont understand how consumers are left holding the bad end of the stick with products that are sub-par when we purchase in good faith and even purchase extended warranties. I was asked when I called for service of the same issue for the second time in about a month, if I had called the manufacturer to inquire about the issue. I quickly responded that this is the very reason that I purchased a 3-year extended warranty and that I consider this to be her/the companys job to investigate and find out and not mine. I suggest before anyone purchases a major appliance to do a considerable amount of research to find out the good, the bad, and the ugly about the product. Otherwise, you will spend a lot of time being frustrated.

We bought a French door freezer on the bottom lovely refrigerator. 11 months from purchase it quit making ice and would not keep things frozen. The repairman replaced all of the parts in the refrigerator. It was as good as new. Yah right. Now six weeks later it is starting the same thing. I just called and demanded we get a new refrigerator. Oh they cant do that, they only repair their screw ups not replace them. I would love to get a class action lawsuit going. We spent more than $2000 for a piece of crap. I know reading other problems that others have spent much more. The company that is ruining the KitchenAid name should be put out of business. They used to be a high end appliance. Give me your thoughts. Thank you.

We’ve had many KitchenAid products and all have pretty reliable. Purchased top of the line model dishwasher 2 years and 4 months ago. The control board just went out. The part is covered by warranty but NOT THE LABOR. That is $249, about 1/5 of the original price. For the purchase price and the company’s profit margin, I wish companies would quite these boards from China because they are junk.

We bought this refrigerator for our vacation home in Cabo and liked that it
We bought this refrigerator for our vacation home in Cabo and liked that it was a reputable American company with a local dealer if anything were to go wrong. Six months and four service calls later, KitchenAid has finally agreed that the unit is unrepairable and will replace it...but SIX MONTHS LATER? What if we hadnt kept the old refrigerator. This Kitchenaid doesnt get below 70 degrees, wont make ice cubes and doesnt keep anything in the freezer frozen! Basically it doesnt do one thing its supposed to do. Yet it has taken six months of aggravation to a least get Kitchenaid to own up to the fact that its a piece of junk. Now how many months till it gets replaced? I can understand that every once in awhile, a product gets through thats just not good, but thats where customer service comes in. The way that this has been handled is is a reflection of a complete lack of quality and integrity in every way. Beyond disappointing. While Id hope the majority of their projects work as they should, buying a product knowing how they treat the customer when the product doesnt work is a clear signal to look elsewhere.

Has anyone else been annoyed by what I call a design flaw regarding ice falling behind the drawer? The ice maker drops ice on top of the trigger arm and when the tray is pulled out, ice gets dragged back onto the freezer floor and sometimes bounces out onto kitchen floor. Im dealing with a local business (who sold the fridge to me) regarding the issue. Ive sold hundreds of these and not gotten a complaint. Well, you are now. I have been asked to bring the bin in to see if it is warped or something. Yeesh.

I purchased this dishwasher in October 2011 which was a Kitchen Aid model KUDC10IXWH4. This was installed in a basement kitchen which is only used at New Years and Easter and is run for a total of 10 loads per year. The control panel failed within the first five loads and we needed factory service. When the service tech arrived I was informed that we had to pay the labor and service call. This failure was in early 2102 after the unit was run for the New Year holiday. We were told by the tech that we should consider the extended warranty because these units constantly fail. The unit starts by itself. The thermal fuse fails about every 6th load at a replacement cost of $138 per trip. Kitchen Aid is absolutely useless in this process and deny any responsibility in this matter. As this unit has just been run enough to empty the sample bottle of Jet Dry and had for service calls I would tell anyone never to buy another Kitchen Aid appliance as we will not ever again. Their customer service is horrible!

During the cleaning, my oven glass exploded! Also, we have just spent $200 to have the microwave door repaired and this is the second time in five years! This time, it almost fell off. My sister has a KitchenAid and her microwave door did the same thing. Our repairman said he sees this all the time with KitchenAid. The oven glass flew everywhere in the oven. This is unacceptable. I so wish I had gone with another oven. This is ridiculous.

My name is ** and Customer Service in America is dying a slow and agonizing
My name is ** and Customer Service in America is dying a slow and agonizing death! Im writing this in the hope that it will help others. Our fridge, KitchenAid model number KSSO42QMB01, was built and purchased in 2004. This is the unit that allows custom cabinetry front panels to be installed so that it matches kitchen cabinets. Around the two year mark, the motherboard, or control board, failed. I bought the needed part and had it installed. Summer, July 14th 2014, I came home after a three day trip and find that the entire fridge is down, inside control panel lights are blinking erratically, fridge is nice and warm. Called an approved product service company and they diagnose the problem as a component on the control board has failed again. They ship it to Core Centric in Chicago to have it rebuilt, which is the online suggestion KitchenAid provides all service companies. They dont have the parts necessary for rebuild so service company sends it to Fix Your Board in Texas and the same conclusion is made, that they dont have access to the needed part. We cross reference the KitchenAid control board #2307028 to a part that Sears Direct Parts says is guaranteed to work. This is Sears control board part #W10219463. I personally purchase the part online, receive confirmation of purchase and confirm delivery date of August 4th. August 8th, I email Sears Parts Direct and ask about status of my part. Sears emails back, sorry but we cancelled that order, as youre not an approved service company, but we did credit your credit card the full amount. Wonderful! Shame on you Sears! I email back, what if I have my service people purchase the part? They say fine. In the meantime I am in contact with KitchenAid in an effort to decipher if there is another avenue to get the part or if they have a resource to repair the existing board. In this version, they state that the factory burned down about two years after my fridge was manufactured, and all schematics and design plans were destroyed so figuring out which component is needed to repair was impossible. (So your telling me you cant figure out which component needs replacement by looking at the board and your telling me the components are no longer available anywhere in this country or on earth?) They suggest Core Centric! I explain that the part was shipped to them and the Texas company with no chance of repair. I propose the Sears Parts Direct control board might be a possibility. KitchenAid says they will consult with their engineer to confirm whether or not this part works. They contact me inside the 72 hours they said it would take to respond and say, go ahead and try it. In the meantime Sears emails back that their part will not work, so that stream dries up.I am now emailing Warners Stellian, the appliance company that sold me the fridge in the first place, to see if they know what to do to fix the control board. Response from them is send it to Core Centric in Chicago. This statement was delivered by an apparently, young person that couldnt deliver a full sentence without inserting a half dozen UMMs in it. Everybody has to start somewhere, but I curse my fortune at getting all the newbies! Sorry, I digress.I inform KitchenAid and the person there says she will pass that on to their people and see if there is another road to go down. I receive a call a couple days later and KitchenAid says after review, weve decided to send you a new fridge in replacement and in five days time you will receive a call from KitchenAid to identify which model fridge you need to replace the old unit!!! I am shocked and stunned! I am, by nature, not a rage filled consumer that screams abuse at anyone that doesnt treat me justly. I dealt with customer complaints for 30 years, from people that had far greater issues than a busted fridge, so I do not get worked up about warranty issues. I think to myself, the system still works and I guess I had the good fortune of doing business with a stand up company that realizes the value of backing up the product they sell! I thank them for the help and wait for their call.I get the call today, August 15th, from KitchenAid folks. I assumed that there would be a cost incurred for a new fridge, so I wasnt shocked that they said it would be a pro-rated warranty. KitchenAid says to get the model that fits the spot we need to fill, its going to cost me $3,550.00 and of course, theres no guarantee the custom cabinet faces will fit the new fridge. I noticed that they didnt offer another ice and water dispenser, but I am sure they will after I call them back. Im now at the One Month Without a Fridge mark and not loving it! Got an older, more reliable fridge in the garage, so its a bit of a hassle but not life threatening! This is a real first-world problem, so it could be worse. Notice that its now a month lost! My wife is tolerant, but losing her patience.I notice online that several products are manufactured by the same corporation so Im not certain if I should ditch this company and go to another equally frustrating company or stay the course with KitchenAid. I will be happy to keep you posted on the outcome. Hope your experience isnt nearly as exasperating!

In August 2015 the fridge stopped cooling both the fridge and freezer to the proper temperatures. We spent $665.11 on a microwave that lasted 1 year and 2 months. As is does not fall into their 1 year warranty, they refuse to help or compensate in any way. We had the same issue with a $900 dishwasher we purchased from KitchenAid a couple of years ago. BOTH appliances stopped working after exactly 1 year! It would seem that they are in the business of manufacturing CHEAP China appliances that break shortly after their warranty so you must purchase another one.Customer service is no help at all. They just read from a script repeating the same sentence over and over again. Other companies like Black & Decker and GE have much better customer service and ability to help customers when their products do not work. Would shop from them instead! We purchased a KitchenAid side-by-side in April 2004 for our new home. The fridge never was very cool and we ended up calling for service in Jan 2005. The service tech told us to clean the compressor and it should work. The fridge was barely cold, but the service tech told us the fridge was fine. In May of this year (2012), the fridge stopped cooling completely. We lost hundreds of dollars of food. It took a week for the service tech to come out. He told us to defrost the freezer as there was ice inside it. We turned the fridge off for 24 hours as per his instruction. That didnt fix the problem. I called the tech back and he told us it must need new parts. We thought he ordered the parts but 2 weeks later, I followed up with KA customer care and were told that the service tech had closed our file and had noted in the file that we had decided to purchase a new unit. We had decided no such thing. I asked for the parts to be ordered and were told they were on backorder. Another 2 weeks went by with no word from KA or the service tech. Meanwhile, its the heat of summer, I have young children and no refrigerator. I called KitchenAid back and were told that one part was still on backorder and they had no idea when the part would be available. They offered no solution to the fact that our family had no working fridge. I asked them for the name and part number and tracked the part myself and ordered it. It took another week for the service tech to come out. I had to take another vacation day and waited for over 4 hours for him. KitchenAid techs only work 9-5, Monday to Friday. The service tech replaced 2 parts and said the 3rd wasnt needed. That was on July 6th. On Friday, July 23rd, the fridge and freezer completely stopped working and was actually hot. I called the service tech twice with no response. Today, July 30th, I called KitchenAid customer care and asked for the tech to come out tomorrow (July 31st) early in the morning as I cannot afford to take another vacation day. I was told that their techs only work 9-5, they will not make any provisions to accommodate working families and the rude, arrogant customer care supervisor told me that I needed to make the necessary arrangements to be available when the service technician turns up.We have been without a working refrigeration since May 2012. Its now the end of July. Weve wasted hundreds of dollars in spoiled food and KitchenAid has no care or regards for our situation. Furthermore, no one at KitchenAid appears able to resolve our issues. For a company whose slogan is For the way its made, I feel like they are falsely advertising their products because they are poorly made. I will never ever buy a KitchenAid product again and will do my best to inform anyone who asks me of my dreadful experiences with KitchenAid Canada.

Two times because the control panel went out because it got too hot the repair person said. The fan became very loud and we had to replace that and the fourth time was because the upper oven stopped working but the lower oven still worked. Since the fan was replaced, the oven still makes the control panel get too hot and everything totally shuts off. After it cools down, the panel comes back on. Cant bake anything over 375 degrees it appears, or it shuts off. One piece of advice from the repairman, besides not using the self clean is to cut a large rectangle out of the side of the cabinet and put a steel vent cover over the hole. I shouldnt have to cut a part my cabinet in order to have this crappy oven work better. The double oven we had in before the KitchenAid was a Kenmore from 1992 and still worked perfectly and never gave us a lick of trouble. Now we need to scrap this one and look to spend money that we shouldnt have to. Its so hard to believe that the workmanship at KitchenAid is so bad. Where is their pride?

I have a dishwasher that is 2 years old. It came with a 1 year warranty. I had appliance repair company out at least two times, not cleaning dishes well, rollers on top shelf replaced. Did get advice on using quantum finish which helped with cleaning some. Cheap plastic rollers replaced. Now dishwasher rollers and door had to be tightened by repair man. Now needs seal for door because it is leaking. I will not be buying another KitchenAid product after this experience. Was told no recall on product just poorly made by repair company. I agree.

We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher three months ago. We have had at least two previous dishwashers which were fine. This model KDFE104HPS O leaves water on the dishes and the door. We had two repairmen look at it. The most recent said there seems to be no problem even though the dishes do not dry. He stated that 1) The stainless steel models seem to have that problem; 2) We need to get the water hot before starting the dishwasher so it does not lose the first cycle heating the water; 3) We should use a special rinse agent to aid the drying and 4) We should use the extra dry cycle. In addition, there is an odor that smells like a wet blanket and I think I have even smelled mold. I have owned five dishwashers over the years and have never had this problem. The solutions provided by the repairman actually will cost us more money to run the machine. The only good feature is how quiet it runs.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher a year and a half ago. When I moved in the house, there was a perfectly good working dishwasher in the kitchen, only problem was it was from the 1970s. I replaced it with a sleek stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. It worked flawlessly until just after the warranty expired. First, the top shelf did not get very clean despite my efforts to clean the jets. Then the rollers of the top tray broke making it very difficult to operate the tray. I suspect this is why it is not cleaning well because the tray is misaligned. Now, the dishwasher often does not work at all. It beeps and nothing else. It even beeps if both trays are removed. KitchenAid was not helpful at all when I contacted them. Avoid!!!

After a few months of use, the side of the maple cabinet next to the dishwasher began to turn black and we noticed it getting hot when the dishwasher was being used. We uninstalled the dishwasher and noticed the panel was delaminating opposite the vent on the dishwasher. We called for service and they looked at the problem. And after they called KitchenAid, they said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and the vent could not leak steam because it was only open when the water was filling to vent the pressure and because of the weight of the small plastic door, it could not let steam out. We contacted Hhgregg where we purchased and not much help. This product is under warranty; definitely a design problem and a company who is not willing to look into or correct it.

We purchased the oven (Kitchenaid Double Oven Gas Range KGRS505X) 1 1/2 years ago. The top broiler will not stay on when a pan is in the oven. It seems like it overheats and turns off. I called Customer Service and got no help. Now the baking unit failed. I called service and they replaced the ignitor. We asked about the broiler so they also replaced that ignitor but it didnt help. Then they said we needed a new oven gas valve but they dont have the part. Ive spent almost as much on repairs as I paid for the oven and its only 1 1/2 years old. I called Customer Service to complain but they were not concerned. All they wanted to do was to sell me a service contract that is half the cost of a new oven for just one year coverage. My GE appliances lasted nearly 20 years. KitchenAid is the worst. They have poor quality product and bad customer service.

November 2016, I noticed our cupboards next to the dishwasher are ruined because someone at KitchenAid had a brilliant idea of doing a side steam vent instead of a front vent. My KitchenAid Refrigerator had buildup of ice in the fridge. It was behind the deli drawer so it wouldn’t close. Phoned Whirlpool to get them to fix the problem. A man came and fixed it or so he said. Three months later it did the same thing. I phoned Whirlpool again. They were coming on 24th Jan. Defrosted fridge again. On the 24th I got a phone call from Whirlpool. They asked me what part was replaced the last time they were here. She said she would have to find out so would call me back. She found the part and said they have to order it, so I would have to wait another week. I said it should still be under warranty. She would ask and call me back. At 2:15 she called back and said I would have to pay for the part and labor. I told them that I would get my own reliable repairman. I have since read the reviews and will NEVER deal with them again. This refrigerator is not even 2 years old and one of the LED lights burned out. Long story short, technician could not fix it, he said you need a new fridge, say what, for a light bulb??? KitchenAid offers to replace it, oh by the way it will cost you $600.00 because it is out of warranty. I ask KitchenAid if they are for real, $600.00 for a light bulb, are you kidding me. Everything else on the fridge works but the LED lights. Poor design such that the connector pulls off the wires that are buried inside the cabinet and the modern techs do not know how to repair, therefore, need new fridge is the answer. Do not buy this fridge if you want something that lasts. Also do not bother to call KitchenAid customer service, they are no help at all. 11 months into the purchase of our KitchenAid French Door Bottom Freezer, water started leaking onto our NEW hardwood floor, from the bottom of the freezer. Because of how new this was and no VISIBLE problem, we assumed it was an ice cube that dropped out, or something from the filtered water spout on the fridge. At 12 months, we investigated further and noticed the ice build up on the bottom of the freezer. The water was coming from here. The warranty on this had expired, of course. But, who could imagine that a pricey refrigerator such as this would only last 1 year? We got this repaired at our expense thru a certified dealer, so any other warranty would still be valid.Well after keeping careful watch on the bottom of the freezer, and scraping ice when we could, we have the very same problem again, a little more than 1 year later. Thick ice now, and of course water coming from the bottom. It seems this problem is systemic to the design of this product. This is not satisfactory to the consumer!!!

In a nutshell, the same part on my fridge (the thermistor assembly) has broken down 5 times since I bought it (roughly every three months) causing the fridge to simultaneously ice over yet not keep the food cold. I have a warranty on it, and per CAs Lemon Law, they should have replaced the fridge by now. But every time I call, they keep coming up with reasons why that it doesnt qualify for a Lemon replacement. (This latest time was that the latest repair had the same claim number because it was technically within 90 days of the last time a technician came out. By this logic, they could give me the same claim number till the end of time and never replace the fridge).I can afford a new fridge, but at this point its a matter of principle. I have wasted thousands of dollars in food, not to mention days of my life dealing with this issue -- and have become convinced (based on my research of other consumer complaints) that this is an issue KitchenAid is aware of and that they have knowingly foisted a faulty product & loophole-ridden warranty onto their consumers and EXPECT us to give up when they give us the run-around. I have researched lawsuits against KitchenAid and their warranty company and have been contacted by lawyers who are interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit. If you are interested in getting more information/participating in a class action lawsuit against KitchenAid, please email me.

We bought all new appliances 4 years ago. The salesman at the appliance store said KitchenAid was the best. Well apparently he must get a kickback from them because nothing could be further from the truth. In fact the KF1S29BBMS00 french door refrigerator actually sucks! Shortly after we had it the freezer stopped freezing. At least this was covered by a recall. Now, the unit is 4 years old, the ice maker stops working. We called the repair place and they came out and very cavalierly said, Oh yeah there is a service bulletin on this. You need an add on kit to stop the unit from freezing up.OK to my thinking service bulletin is an admission of wrongdoing. Poor design in the first place. So since the unit is out of warranty and we chose not to pay for a ripoff extended warranty we have to pay over $430 to fix what was not designed right in the first place! How can this be our fault? Why would we need a warranty to cover a design flaw? Now while waiting for the repair person to come back with the part that they had to order the drawer in the freezer will not freeze. The lower main compartment is fine but the door will not freeze. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID APPLIANCE. Their poor design and engineering becomes your problem.

We have a KitchenAid refrigerator. This refrigerator is less than 5 years old. It started having problems keeping the correct temperature. Called my service guy, he comes out, checks it out and states it has a freon leak. This involves the sealed system, a repair he does not do. Whirlpool was called and this issue was discussed. An authorized service provider from Whirlpool was sent out and yes it is a sealed system leak but he does not do sealed system repairs. I pay him his diagnostic fee. Called Whirlpool again and another provider is sent out to ascertain that yes it is a sealed system problem and guess what I get to pay another diagnostic fee. Whirlpool stated they sent out the first provider because they are on the List. Somehow this appears to be my problem that they sent out a company that doesnt do the repair that was clearly the issue per my appliance guy. I called to see if Whirlpool would cover one of these fees but nope. I wasted one hour and five minutes on the phone and got zero satisfaction. I also want to add that this repair parts and labor are covered under warranty so it seems doubly ridiculous that I have to pay two service fees. There will never be another Whirlpool, KitchenAid appliance in this house again.

Now this week I’ve had to call for service AGAIN because two other burner knobs have seized up and cannot be turned on. This will cost me another $400-500 again to get it serviced. We purchased a Model KSC23C8EYY side-by-side KitchenAid refrigerator in November 2012 for over $2,499. Immediately we noticed that it was loud and often made strange noises. We tried leveling it precisely, but nothing made a difference. Sometime in 2013, we noticed that water had been leaking behind the refrigerator. We called the factory service people recommended by KitchenAid. They came out and replaced tubing at a cost of over $250 and said that it was not covered under the warranty because it had been installed incorrectly. In June 2014 The freezer and refrigerator quit getting cold. We called the same repair people. We had to wait days for a service appointment. They showed up and said they had to order the part. Again, we had to make an appointment and take off work for the next visit. This time, there was a different worker who said that the wrong part had been ordered. Again, we had to make an appointment and wait for days for someone to service our fridge. By this time we had been without a refrigerator for over two weeks and used coolers to try to keep as much of our food fresh as possible. Finally, on July 8, 2014 a repairman came out and fixed the refrigerator. It required a new compressor and recharging the system. I had to miss an entire day of work to wait on the repairman and then be there for the 3-hour repair. Luckily, this was clearly under warranty and the total cost of $654.79 was covered.Less than three months later on September 30, 2014, our refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling again. Unable to miss more work in order to wait for repairmen that may or may not fix the problem, we decided to just go to Home Depot and buy a GE refrigerator. In 55 years the KitchenAid refrigerator was absolutely the worst appliance that I have ever owned! Our money was truly thrown away.

I purchased this 36 built-in side by side in 6/06 with the thought that it would be a good refrigerator --I couldnt be more wrong!! At 3 years, we started having problems. So far repairs include a new circuit board, hinge repairs, evaporator, drier, compressor and fan motor, and an ugly repair kit to cover up the burned area that runs the full length - top to bottom - on the front panel between the freezer and refrigerator doors that happened because KitchenAid didnt put a big enough fan motor in. And here again, it is leaking Freon, so the entire refrigerator has to be gutted again to replace the evaporator, compressor, heat loop and? KitchenAid will cover the parts at an approx. cost of $800-$1000, this type of sealed system is covered for 12 years. The labor, however, is out of my pocket at $2,000.One of the repair techs told me these type of sealed systems RARELY go bad which is why KitchenAid backs them up for so long. Go figure!! And, did I mention the cost of food spoilage!! GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHENAID!!! Oh, and I need to mention the KitchenAid convection oven that had to be replaced early on (under warranty) and the microwave oven that was replaced 3 times and after that I put up with door that didnt quite and still doesnt fit quite right. GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHENAID!!!! WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER -- even with the discount they are happily giving me to buy another $8,000 refrigerator!!

A KitchenAid KEBS207BSS01 Double Oven came with a new house we purchased. The first time we self-cleaned the oven, the blue porcelain flaked off the convection cover, exposing bare metal. KitchenAid Customer Service stated this was a cosmetic problem not covered by warranty, since the oven was still functioning properly. I replied that the self clean feature was a function that was obviously not designed to chip off the oven interior, and therefore not functioning properly. They suggested a purchase a blue pen from Amazon that could be used to paint over the chipped interior. Incredibly poor product quality and customer service.

I have a KHMS 2050SSS-2 microwave. It was purchased new in 2011. Very little use. In the middle of the night my smoke alarm went off. The kitchen was lit up like somebody was running a arc welder. The microwave was running even though no one was using it. I tried turning it off. I even opened the door but the thing keeper going. The glass plate was melting and a hole was burning through the bottom. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. My wife dialed 911 because we really expected a house fire. Whirlpool was contacted. They sent out a repair team who said it was “not repairable. Since then I have contacted Whirlpool 3 times but there is zero response. I find that their could not care less attitude disturbing to say the least.

On January 22, 2014, we were sold a used, returned, older model and/or LEMON KitchenAid Dishwasher without our knowledge by Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home in Oceanside, California. We are requesting that KitchenAid stand behind its products and repair or replace our nonworking dishwasher for no charge to the buyer. We purchased a floor model for $931.54 including $100 installation and were informed by Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home that this dishwasher was brand new and in perfect working condition. This dishwasher was installed in a two person household and has been used less than 50 times since the purchase date. The correct detergent and rinse aid have always been used and the filters have always been kept clean. This dishwasher has never cleaned the dishes properly and stopped working all together on September 9, 2014. We contacted Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home to request a service repair and they instructed us to contact KitchenAid directly. It was then we were informed by your company that the dishwasher we purchased was actually four years old and had gone through two previous owners. We contacted Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home and they said this was not true and that they would handle the service repair themselves at no charge to the buyer. We told them that we did not believe them and that we wanted a brand new replacement dishwasher immediately. They would not comply and only offered to make the necessary repairs. So, with great hesitation, we agreed and they replaced the broken main board, which allowed the dishwasher to function, but still not up to par. Then in November of 2015, the dishwasher stopped working altogether once again. The dishes actually run through the entire cycle now, but they are dirtier than when they went in. The water appears to be lukewarm only during the wash cycle and the rinse dispenser does not function properly. It has read full for over a year now without adding any additional rinse aid. Furthermore, the soap dispenser appears to not always open during the wash cycle as well.We spent $931.54 on a KitchenAid Dishwasher less than two years ago and as of today, we do NOT have a working dishwasher. Again, we are requesting that KitchenAid stand behind its products and repair or replace our nonworking dishwasher for no charge to the buyer or we will be forced to take further action at this point. Thank you.

In June, 2009, I did a complete kitchen remodel and installed all-KitchenAid appliances, including a side-by-side refrigerator model KSCS25MVMS which cost almost $2,500. I purchased a five-year extended warranty on all the appliances which, unfortunately, has now expired. I recently noticed water damage to the base of the cabinet surrounding the refrigerator and to the hardwood floor. I had an appliance repairman out and he determined that the water leak was the result of a crack in the evaporator drip pan under the refrigerator. He said he would order a replacement pan. A couple of days later he called to inform me that this part was no longer available. He said he could attempt to repair it, with no guaranty that the repair would be successful, or I could buy a new refrigerator. I think it is outrageous that a $2,500 6-year old refrigerator (which is otherwise working fine) is now rendered unusable because of the failure of a cheap plastic part that KitchenAid has discontinued. It sounds like KitchenAid is discontinuing parts availability in order to force people to buy new products. Well, all I can say is, if I end up having to buy a new refrigerator, it will most definitely NOT be a KitchenAid!!!

After purchasing and installing a new Kitchenaid Architect Series II convection wall oven (KEBS109SS), the noise from the convection fan was overwhelming. I removed the oven from the wall and opened the rear panel when I noticed that the fan motor was loose. Further investigation helped me determine that the mounting screws were accessible from the inside of the oven by removing the panel covering the fan. Once I tightened the mounting screws, the sound from the convection fan is almost unnoticeable. I can understand the complaints made from other Kitchenaid owners concerning the irritating fan noise. Hopefully, this simple repair will eliminate their problem so they too can enjoy their ovens too.

I thought I was buying a quality product when I purchased my side by side KSF26C7XYY00 refrigerator. The refrigerator I had was very old and not cooling. Since I was renovating my kitchen, what better than to purchase a quality product like KitchenAid... Unfortunately that was not the case! After six months to the day, the freezer stopped working. I had to throw everything away the day before Christmas. Knowing no one would be taking calls on Christmas I waited a couple of days. In the meantime, the refrigerator side stopped cooling as well. I called the KitchenAid customer service line to go through the proper procedures and protocol for the warranty. The service guy came out on Dec. 28 and told me he did not know how to fix it and he would order the parts. Several days pass. I had to call them to find out where the parts were only find that they had no idea. There was a new tracking system and they could not track the parts in transit. After a week and a half and after speaking with one of KitchenAids corporate reps and some emails to the Brand Experience Senior Manager they finally agreed to replace the refrigerator. You would think this would be a good thing however they had to order it and it would take 7-10 days. After calling the delivery company I found that they had had the refrigerator and no information on who it belonged to, yet no one investigated this. I received the new replacement refrigerator on Jan. 20. Now, you would think that the saga would be over, but no. After nearly ONE MONTH without a refrigerator, the new refrigerator does not work! The freezer is not freezing and the refrigerator side is only slightly cool compared to the 37 degrees that it is supposed to be according to the manual. I called KitchenAid only to have the customer service person tell me I needed to make an appointment for a service call. At this point I am beyond frustrated and I would like to get my money back so I can buy something that works. I cant afford to replace food or eat out daily. I will NEVER buy KitchenAid or any of their affiliates again and will advise everyone I know and work with (the 9th largest school district in the US) of the same.

After I used the clean function (for the first time) - the oven wouldnt heat. They sent out a repairman who fixed it. A few months later, I used the clean function again (for the 2nd time) - same thing happened. And now, 1 month after the warranty expired, its happened again. Same problem all three times & yet after a long call to them today, KitchenAid refused to do anything! In a year, I probably used that oven less than a dozen times. Needless to say, I wont be recommending them to anyone. And btw, the repair service they sent obviously didnt know what they were doing, because as I now know, the problem was never solved.

We had this oven range delivered in early December 2019. By Dec 26, the inside top oven enamel had shattered. This unit did not work particularly well from the start. Lightly soiled dishes were not clean, even after the excruciating 3.5 hour cycle. Installed 2003. There is something defective about this VERY expensive refrigerator. It builds up ice on the back refrigerator wall rendering 2 bins useless since it freezes the fresh food. If I turn down the freezer temperature down, ice cream turns to mush, so that is not an option. I have contacted KitchenAid over this situation years ago and all they do is send out a contracted appliance company to troubleshoot. You are responsible for paying for the troubleshoot and since I am not on warranty, I must pay for repairs. After the appliance company charges exorbitant fees, they say it is a bad baffle, and a new one is installed. I have done this 2x now, and the problem is still there. I purchased an Architect Series II gas range in July 2009. The range is in a home that is inhabited only part time and has not been used much. In fact, it has probably been used a total of twelve times in two years. The first time that I used the self-clean function, the digital control panel went blank and the oven door remained locked. This occurred after about 1.5 hours of the self-clean cycle. I have researched this issue and discovered that it is an exceedingly common defect. Although this is marketed as a self-clean oven, it can never be self-cleaned without the risk of damaging a fuse that controls the control panel. When I contacted KitchenAid, they acknowledged that this defect has been recognized and repaired, but that my model and serial number do not fall within the recognized group of defective products. My product is an Architect Series II gas range. The numbers associated with it are KGRS807SSS and XY0202920. I have attempted to get KitchenAid to address the problem, but, as described above, they claim that my product falls outside the range of those that are defective. My problem is purely coincidental, although there are many similar complaints regarding the same product listed here.

In 2012, I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator, model KFCS22EVBL. Weve had nothing but problems with this product. First, the freezer leaked water onto my beautiful hardwood floor. The refrigerator was repaired but it ruined my hardwood floor. My research indicates that this is a known design defect. I wrote a complaint letter to a Whirlpool executive, who referred me to their quality assurance expert. What a joke! I was left extremely frustrated and angry. Neither Whirlpool nor its QA representative understand the concept of customer satisfaction. Second, the refrigerator is extremely noisy. We have an open floor plan and sometimes we have to speak over noise from the refrigerator to hear conversations. Lastly, cleaning the coils is a nightmare. The user instructions state There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments. I dont have pets; however, due to dust buildup, I need to vacuum the coils at least 2-3 times a year. Additionally, dust tends to collect behind the front coil and there is no way for the average consumer to reach the area behind the coils. Yet, Whirlpools instruction states Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille, the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area on the condenser. Gee, I wish I can figure out how to get behind the front coil. (The attached image shows unreachable dust behind the coil). I suspect the refrigerator was purposely designed this way to shorten the lifetime of the refrigerator. Whirlpool has underestimated this consumer. I will no longer purchase another Whirlpool product, especially since Im also having problems with my KitchenAid double oven. Im now looking for another refrigerator.

We purchased a NEW KitchenAid refrigerator 24 months ago. We were advised by family to always buy extended warranty on refrigerator regardless of brand because “they aren’t well made anymore.” We purchased warranty and accepted poor standard for expensive appliance. Within 1 yr the ice maker stopped working. Within 2 years the refrigerator side stopped holding adequate temperature. The warranty covered both repairs. What was more disappointing is the “styrofoam” part that was removed from the refrigerator. The service repair technician left the old part as evidence that they removed and installed true manufactured parts (from Whirlpool). I took pictures and will upload if that feature is available in this review. How much money did KitchenAid save by installing a large styrofoam part in their expensive product. It’s too bad consumers don’t have better options and shouldn’t expect more.

We purchased our home 11 years ago new, with several builders grade items, including a relatively cheap GE dishwasher. We got about 7 years of service out of it, and decided to upgrade to a quiet KitchenAid dishwasher we bought at Lowes. Within 2 years, the plastic pieces of the upper rack started to crack. When we called KitchenAid to get them replaced, they told us that a) they were now owned by Whirlpool; b) the rack and parts werent covered by a warranty. So they kindly offered to sell us the parts. We bought them, at about 1/4 of the cost of the entire dishwasher. Now its been two years, and those same parts have cracked again. The dishwasher wont even come on at this point. I used to love KitchenAid. I had a suite (dishwasher, refrigerator and range/oven) from them for 10 years in my old home and had no issues. Naturally, when I went to purchase appliances for my kitchen remodel in my new home, I bought KitchenAid again. A year after they were installed, the fan in the oven started to rattle and I began to notice surface rust on the appliances. Ive always used stainless steel cleaner, and I never had this issue with my old appliances. The rust will not even come off with the cleaner. KitchenAid sent out a service technician who fixed the fan and looked at the rust. He said the rust was a problem with all of the stainless steel appliances when they get any water on them. Seriously? A dishwasher, refrigerator and oven? When do they not get water on them? When I contacted KitchenAid, they told me it was a cosmetic issue and therefore not covered. They did call their service technician who said he only saw a small amount of surface rust on the stove and did not look at the other appliances. He also told them it was an environmental issue. (Totally different from the story he told me.). KitchenAid also said it was a cosmetic issue and there was nothing they could do about it as I had used the wrong brand of stainless steel cleaner and the environment was too moist. My home is 30 miles from the ocean in a desert climate, and my previous home (where I did not have problems) was much closer to the ocean, so how it that environmental? KitchenAid offered to send out a second technician out at my expense. I will never buy another KitchenAid product again.

Two weeks before the warranty ran out on my Kitchen Aid microwave, the unit
Two weeks before the warranty ran out on my Kitchen Aid microwave, the unit started humming by itself while it is turned off. I called warranty center and they came in and repaired it. After the warranty ended, within one month, the same loud humming happened. So I called and had a technician come in and repair it. The unit is now two years old, it starts to hum anytime I turn on my range to cook. I would have to unplug it. Another thing about it is it starts to hum in the middle of the night, and then would turn on by itself. I think that a product like Kitchen Aid should live by its word. I cannot use this unit with trust.

We have a KitchenAid microwave model # KHMS155LSS-3 that turns itself on by itself. I cannot tell you how frightening that was to discover it running all night. And then when we turned it off, it came on again. We called KitchenAid customer service. They were aware of the problem and offered to replace the panel. However, they should do a recall on this product. We depend on them to let the consumer know of dangerous faults in their products. My wish is to have this product recalled before someone is injured or lose their home due to fire.

Refrigerator model KFIS29BBNS00 - We purchased this unit in 2012. Ever since we have add numerous repair calls. Not only the first year but since. They replaced left door and freezer pull out door rusted. Ice maker replaced, and mother board several times for the ice maker dispenser. Now we are under extended warranty and we need a compressor. They will be out next week to replace. We requested the first year for a replacement and they have spent more on parts. Since we purchased it then we paid for it. They will not replace unit. It is a lemon from day one. Always has made a noise. It was so loud at one point we had to close our bedroom door at night to sleep. Dont buy this appliance. It looks pretty but it doesnt work right and they keep repairing it. The warranty department said they do not have a record for the first year just since they took over.

Until now, Kitchenaid has been our choice in kitchen appliances. Two weeks
Until now, Kitchenaid has been our choice in kitchen appliances. Two weeks ago, our Kitchenaid flooded our kitchen and four rooms in our basement. Obviously the Overflow protection float which was not impeded in any way, didnt work. Now the kitchen hardwood floor is being ripped out and replaced. Walls and ceilings have been repaired downstairs. Even the electrical system between the walls was damaged and had to be fixed. I called and spoke to a customer service representative and just wanted some answers. It is very apparent Kitchenaid doesnt care. I am so disappointed in this company and will never purchase from them again. The most expensive dishwasher.... Thousands of dollars for repairs!

I own an entire set of KitchenAid appliances. I am writing about our range, which I tried to self-clean for the first time on December 23. Dont you know that the oven shut down, and door is locked, and control panel is dead? I contacted KA to see what their remedy was. They are sending out a repairman, but will only cover parts, not labor. I was ticked off. I had a turkey to cook for Christmas and visitors are coming to stay for a week. It’s completely absurd to not have an oven to use. I asked the guy on the phone if there had been other issues reported on the same self-clean issue. He said no. Then he said that he didnt have access to personal records. Which is it? I am totally in for a class action suit as well. I’m waiting for a technician. It’s way to expensive of an appliance to have a repair 3 years later.
