Purchased a $7000 Kitchen Aid refrigerator 6 years ago (KSSO48FTX02) at the suggestion of the salesman at JC Perreault in Montreal. Thankfully our $25,000 purchase of appliances did not include any other Kitchen Aid products as my recent problem has been nothing short of a customer service nightmare. Our refrigerator, which other than a constant noise problem, had been relatively reliable. Last month, a constant beeping sound and on/off of a motor was observed. In addition the control panel lights were constantly flashing whenever the door was opened. For 3 days - getting through the 800 number was impossible - so I was forced to call an outside tech. Upon hearing of the problem he informed me that there was a 90% chance the motherboard was fried. I told him to come over anyhow and in 5 minutes of pressing buttons he confirmed it - AND that the replacement part was DISCONTINUED by Kitchen Aid because of the Tsunami in Japan 5 years ago! The only fix would be a black market repair and it would cost me $2000, and it might not even work! When I finally got through to customer service at KA, they confirmed that the part was no longer being made and they suggested I check out Ebay or Amazon for replacements! The nightmare continues as I try to decide whether or not to cut my losses and buy a new fridge - and remodel my kitchen in the process since this one was built-in. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANY PRODUCT MADE BY KITCHEN AID, or Whirlpool or Jenn-air.

My husband and I purchased a custom home in November of 2010. We wanted high end appliances in our new kitchen and have about $25K in KitchenAid products in our kitchen. The largest expense was our built-in refrigerator (model number KSSC42KVS). We paid $8,000.00 for this supposed high end refrigerator. 2 and a half years later, it sits completely dead in my kitchen. The past 3 months have been a nightmare. First, the ice maker assembly had to be replaced at a cost of about $400.00. The cheap plastic arm that closes the ice chute stopped working and allowed warm air to move into the freezer, then the compressor kicked in overtime trying to cool the compartment. 3 days after the ice maker was replaced, the refrigerator side stopped holding its temperature. The compressor would kick on, the freezer would drop to -10 and the fridge temp would go up to 56-60 degrees. The repairman was out again. This time he replaced the damper door assembly which allows the air to move from the freezer side into the the fridge side. Cost me $700.00. Again, everything was OK for about the 3 days and then the same problem happened again. The repairman was out again and this time replaced the thermistors. Again 3-4 days works properly, then compressor kicks on, freezer down to -10 and fridge up to 56. All this time my technician is conferring with Whirlpool technical support and following their recommendations. Now Whirlpool says the main circuit board is bad. It cannot be repaired because all of the inventory was wiped out by the tsunami in 2010. I will have to wait 2-3 weeks while my board is shipped out to a 3rd party vendor to be rebuilt. Now I am out another $600 as we had to buy a cheap fridge to put in our garage because my $8,000.00 is unusable. The board comes in, the repairman puts it in and within an hour after him leaving, the whole fridge just shuts off. The rebuilt board is bad. The repairman is back with a new board.. The fridge works fine for 3 days and then on June 27th, the same problem is back. I let it run for a couple of days and by the 29th, now the freezer isnt holding temp either. Both fridge and freezer are at 60 degrees. I called the repairman again and he tells me that Whirlpool is saying that they are out of ideas. My 2-year-old, $8,000.00 refrigerator has some electrical problem and it cannot be repaired. I will have to buy a new one. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If I would have known what terrible quality KitchenAid is, I would have spent another $1,000.00 back in 2010 and bought a Sub Zero. Please do not be fooled into thinking that KitchenAid is high end and high quality!

KitchenAid® Superba® Series EQ Built-In Dishwasher - KUDE40FXBL1 - Like many others in this column, we spent a bit more money to buy a Kitchenaid dishwasher, thinking that the quality was better. The delivery date for our dishwasher was April 26, 2011. As many have noted, the wheel system on the upper racks continues to fail. The plastic tabs that hold the wheels onto the dishwasher rack adjuster breaks, allowing the wheels to come off and ultimately leading to the upper rack dropping down on top of the dishes in the lower rack. On April 7, 2012, a few weeks shy of one year, and just before the end of the full coverage warranty, we had the dishwasher rack adjuster replaced for the first time by Sears technicians (since the machine was purchased from Sears). In January 2013, two of the four wheels were falling off again and allowing the rack to unexpectedly drop from the upper rails. After much complaining to Kitchenaid, they agreed to send replacement parts (2 dishwasher rack adjusters, one for each side, part number W10350376). The new parts are exactly the same as the two sets of dishwasher rack adjusters that failed in the past. I had hoped that Kitchenaid would have made a design change to the parts by this point in time, but it appears as though they have not addressed the issue. I will be replacing the parts by myself, and if there is no change in design, it looks like this may be an annual task. If anyone knows of a solution, kindly advise.

We had this oven when we purchased the house and it was perhaps the appliance that was least used. Over the past several months we have been getting an error in the control panel F6E0 - Lost Communications. The error would sometimes solve by itself, but this time we waited for about a month before calling a technician. He told us that the control panel would be $700 and the problem may be solved. It may require another control panel replacement which is in the $200 range. Why would Kitchen Aid design products that would last for 5 years when the good old Electric ranges with much less electronics lasted for 20 years. Where is quality? Where is reliability? I perhaps should not blame KitchenAid alone on this. Since we are all demanding (or receiving) products that look more like a computer - we replace it as often as a computer and trash the old ones in China. Further, they declined to post my review on their website - Sure they dont want to see it on their site!

I purchased counter depth refrigerator in 2017. My daughter and were getting sick. Months later I noticed the fridge was not cold. The evaporator was not cooling. The repairman put another one in and that one broke as well. They sent me a new fridge. It was dented but I took it. AGAIN...noise coming from evaporator area in the back panel. It was repaired and the ice cube maker stopped working well. A couple of months later it completely stopped. When fields appliance repair came out the older man leaned on the drawer I am guessing. The ice cube maker is finally working but the drawer is bent out on the upper right hand corner. There is warm air and air leakage on the upper right corner. Icicles and frost on the top inside seal with frost on the tray. I can easily put my fingers under the seal. My freezer is not cooling properly with air leakage. I wont mention the dent that they put in the frame of the door either. I want someone to fix my freezer door.

Stove - YKERS303BSSO: The coating on the control panel is peeling and the lettering is part of this coating, this is going to affect the readability of the knobs in future if we cannot get this resolved. Since we bought this stove in June 2014 should be a warranty on this type of thing happening? We always use only mild dish soap and a soft cloth to clean it. Sent an email to http://www.whirlpoolappliances.ca twice, second time included photos was told both times, that they recommend calling into their Customer Service Department at 1-800-807-6777 to have this issue resolved. Theyll probably tell us to change the control panel, which will probably cost 1/3 of what a brand new stove would cost. Also, the oven inside window has water/steam stains, how do we get them clean?

Side by Side KSC24C8EYY01 - We put in a new counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator 3 1/2 years ago. The freezer recently stopped working for no apparent reason, then kicked back on after 24-36 hours. This has happened 4 times in less than 3 weeks. By the time the service man gets here to check it out, the freezer is back to working, and he cant find a problem. The 2nd time he called Whirlpool and went through an entire diagnostic testing and still found nothing. He thought the Whirlpool technician that he spoke to was not too bright, and actually rather rude and indifferent. The only recommendation they had was to replace the mother board for a cost of $800 - with no guarantee that replacing it will solve the problem - it was just a guess. The service man told us that he wouldnt buy a KitchenAid appliance for anything - their service department was difficult to work with and trying to get parts needed for repair can be a nightmare. We will NOT be repairing this refrigerator and we will NOT EVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance - EVER.

We bought KitchenAid model KUDS301XBL thinking that it was better than Bosch, Kenmore & all the rest since many people recommend it. Paid almost 1000 for a piece of garbage. Good thing we took the extended warranty as not even 3 years & the motherboard is busted. Guy came in, said it worked after 3 days of no electricity. Waiting for the missing part & again not working as the motherboard unglues due to the handle being at the same place. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID, THE ONLY GOOD DISHWASHER IS MIELE.

Obviously, I am extremely dissatisfied with this refrigerator to take time to write a review. I dont even know where to start to list the problems weve had. Repairs have been time-consuming and costly. One repair to replace almost all of the working innards was 4 hours of labor. At least Whirpool covered the parts ($1500) and labor ($700) but only covered the labor after I called customer service and complained. Other problems include the metal strips on drawers discoloring and peeling after only 2 years, plastic vegetable drawers breaking and needing replacing at $100 each (out of pocket). The protective kick panel is broken and wont re-attach so bottom wires sticking out. The fridge and freezer doors are permanently misaligned and dont line up at top and one door protrudes at bottom. Technician says cant be fixed. Husband has tried to fix using instructions in booklet with no luck. Ice maker stopped working. Fridge occasionally leaks large amount of water into kitchen. Technician cant seem to fix problem. It is absolutely the worst appliance I have ever owned. Im 63. Its a total of piece of junk.

What kind of service is that? How does that help me as a customer not being satisfied with a loud running fridge? The company could care less about their customers. I never will from this company for any product!

My KitchenAid oven sucks! This is now the 3rd time I have a problem with the self-cleaning upgrade in my oven. The thermostat fails with the heat of self-cleaning. This time, however, the main keypad is fried. Almost $500 just for the part, not counting labor and install. Thanks, KitchenAid, for delivering a product that is only successful in earning you more money! I could not be any more disappointed in their complete lack of responsibility in standing behind a product for which they make so much money. Brand new two years ago, and I continue to have mounting expenses for an appliance that was touted as being wonderful.

My 2008 built-in needs a new panel (brain). Its no longer made, so the only solution is to disable my unit, send the panel out (at MY expense), have someone repair it, and hope for the best. By the way, no guarantee of how long it will take or if it is actually the fix we need. The freezer door had to be replaced just a few months after we purchased this unit. The ice maker flap wasnt working properly. This unit was about $6000, and I really dont want to buy a new one but may have no choice! This is ridiculous!!!

Purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for a kitchen remodel. The dishwasher overheated in less than a year. A service repairman from the manufacturer replaced the control panel. It worked fine until it was 2 years old. Then it stopped cleaning. I tried working with my extended warranty at this point. One repairman said it needed spot remover (which I had only recently run out of). I disagreed, as the dishes were greasy with food particles left on them. A 2nd repairman replaced the control panel. Still had dirty dishes. They replaced with new control panel. Still had dirty dishes. Then the pump stopped working and you couldnt turn the dishwasher on or drain the water. At this point I had been without a dishwasher for 2 months & was tired of service calls with no results and hand washing all my dishes. The store where I bought it wouldnt replace the appliance & said it was up to the appliance repair to say it was broken...& couldnt be fixed. The appliance repair said that it was up to KitchenAid customer service to make that decision. Customer service said that the appliance repair had to document that enough repairs had been made that it would be cheaper to replace. The appliance people wouldnt do that. I called back the store, the appliance people & the warranty company & tried to get them to work together... with no resolution & ended up buying a new dishwasher...different brand, of course. I wouldnt leave a bad review for KitchenAid, but this dishwasher cost me $800 and a $2,000 KitchenAid refrigerator purchased at the same time has been leaking since it was a few months old. Ive had it 5 years...still leaks & getting the same run around with the store, Kitchen Aid customer service and the extended warranty. No one will take responsibility for their poor products. I do like their stove top and double oven combo, though.

I installed Superba double oven in 1999. Self-clean caused computer board damage first two times we used it. They installed a modification kit on the third time. Our 7 year old KitchenAid Kss42QMSO1 side by side started chirping, the internal control panel lights were flashing and we could not adjust or control the temperature using the buttons. I first called the Kitchen Aid HELP LINE (that is an oxymoron). Talking to the fridge would have been just as helpful and all they were interested in doing was dispatching a service man, when he showed up we were advised that it was the control board # W 10219463 that had failed. When I asked the cost to replace it he advised that it was no longer available because the factory in Japan had been destroyed by the Tsunami. This was two years ago, and this huge company had done nothing to create a new supply?? Can you imagine Toyota or Sony using that excuse? Our only option was to send the control board to Chicago for repair and have the fridge / freezer out of commission for 3 to 4 weeks, also we had to sign some kind of a liability waiver. I thanked the service man and advised I would get back to him, then I started to surf the net and after some time I came across this web site and thankfully the blog from Chris in North Van. I live in White Rock and if I knew your address I would drop off a very good bottle of wine on my way to Whistler. Thank you, after reading your info I asked the service man to come back and remove the board. However he said he was prevented by Whirlpool / Kitchen Aid from doing this unless it was sent to Chicago. I contacted another excellent service man who is independent and had him do the removal. I would say unless you are very mechanical you would be better to go this route. He also advised that it was often the evaporator fan that caused the circuit board malfunction. Once it was removed I found it to be exactly as per the photo from Chris. I was able to locate the capacitor from SMI Industrial Electronics in the nearby suburb of Langley, it is a 22ouf 10X12 HI TEMP CAPACITOR 85 o and cost the princely sum of 36 cents (I even purchased a spare). I then took this to an electronics repair man who tested and removed the defective capacitor and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes, he would not even accept any payment. I would advise that unless you are used to working on circuit boards and have a very fine tipped soldering iron I would use an expert, even if he charges you. It would be easy to short out the wires with too much solder. I took this home and the service man came back and installed the circuit board and a new evaporator fan which for some reason is a stock item and in about 1/2 hour the fridge was humming, no chirping and we were able to set the freezer for 0 F and the fridge for 37 F. The temperatures both initially read the 70 F air temp. but started to fall quickly and a few hours later we heard the first ice being made and everything is working just fine. Our total bill including the fan was $260.00. Thanks again Chris, and like you I am amazed that the so-called help line would not advise of this. I am fairly certain our first service man knew of this option because when I told him about the info from Chris he was not the least bit surprised. He probably would be blacklisted if he went against the companys policies. Good Luck!

The broiler element on my KitchenAid range (Model No. KGSS907) came on by itself and stayed on. I was in the living room, and the first I knew was the smell of burning. Not only did it come on, I couldnt turn it off, the control panel being non-functioning. To stop it, I had to pull the unit away from the wall and unplug it, nothing else worked. Now I am afraid to leave the range alone. This is a big problem since I travel a lot. I was recently away in Europe for a month. Can you imagine what could have happened if the stove came on during that month? Normal practice for any controls designer is to make sure that any failure goes to the off position, but that apparently that does not apply to KitchenAid. Does anyone know of a recall?

DONT BUY!! This range DOES NOT CLEAN!! The technology of AquaLift Self Clean is falsely advertised. Do not use oven cleaners. No commercial oven cleaner or oven liner protective coating of any kind should be used in or around any part of the oven. Quote from manual. Dictionary: self-clean (of oven, filter, etc) - having a mechanism to clean itself. They have a customer service number dedicated to the AquaLift Self Clean system. This model, #KGRS202BSS, vents out thru center of oven door, venting out the front top of door positioned immediately below the range top handles causing handles to heat to VERY HOT! The oven tempered glass is cleaned by removing the whole door, disassembling - then cleaning both panels inside of glass & outside! HAZARD. A scratch to tempered glass can compromise it. NO one tells you that; do they!! How does this help improve to free up your schedule? What surface does one place the door on to clean it? HAZARD is cumbersome, possible breakage and injury while handling. Black stove top is NOT porcelain & stains permanently... as do the burner caps and burner flame tops. The top non-fingerprint stainless by panel scratches incredibly easy. It takes a long time to heat to desired temperature. UPSIDE: Range is attractive looking if thats all you require out of a range.Beware, KitchenAid is not customer complaint friendly to resolving issues - read reviews, they just keep sending out repairmen! They will chase you around the Cuckoo Clock! Once out of warranty, they will not talk at all! Check out the BBB complaints too! From www.whirlpoolcorp.com: We are the number one major appliance manufacturer in the world, with approximately 20 billion in annual sales. We provide purposeful technology that helps free up your schedule for what really matters. We feel that our products positively impact your life right now. Mission: Create Demand and Earn Trust. We are NOT feeling this right now!! They manufacture just about every brand, hmm.. monopoly springs to our minds. They are a global company. The sad part, this type of technology is fast becoming the future of all ranges! Why not! Whirlpool owns just about every brand so what they do becomes the design of all our product choices.

I purchased a dishwasher in May 2011 for about $900.00 and within 2 months, the electrical panel broke and I could not open the dishwasher. At that time, I should have insisted they replace the dishwasher because it is an absolute piece of junk. Two and a half years later, the plastic pieces that hold the upper basket have broken for the third time. I called KitchenAid and spoke to a manager. They offered to pay for the parts but I would have to pay for the service call and labor. I told them forget it since the pieces can only cost pennies. What government agency forces manufacturers to recall faulty items? Obviously from the amount of complaints online and the numerous complaints to which the service company responds to, this is an ongoing problem that KitchenAid has failed to address. I will NEVER purchase a KitchenAid or Whirlpool product again. I advise anyone that is looking for an appliance to avoid this brand!!!!

I purchased a stainless steel side by side for about $1700.00 in July of 2013. Here are the issues with it and please keep in mind, two service calls were made to look at it, more on that later. The stainless steel started to show rust spots all over both doors. You cannot fill your glass with ice from the dispenser in the left door when the right door is open which is very annoying. The left door does not close all the way when you swing it shut. It looks closed and the open light goes off but it does not make a seal and you have to push it to shut all the way. It is extremely loud when it makes ice. The water filter replace sign came on after about 3 months and the filters are about $50 each and it beeps at you 3 times when you get water until you replace the filter which is very annoying.I called about 9 months before the warranty ran out and they sent some guy who was trained to tell me it was everything else in my kitchen that was wrong except the refrigerator. I called again about a month later because the rust was getting worse and the second guy that came out said the doors needed to be replaced and that he would order them. It has been about six months and still no doors and now it is out of warranty. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID!! And take a magnet when you go shopping for stainless steel because magnets stick to KitchenAids!

KitchenAid KUDS35FXSS8 - When the door is open, the dishwasher has a swampy smell since purchase. It was reported to company several times with repair service deployed twice; both times they assessed drainage, suggested changing cleaning agent, using Pro Scrub option, water neutralizing agent, etc. with no resolution of problem. On last call to manufacturer, they acted like they had never heard of this problem before and were very rude in communicating that there was nothing else they could do (this was spoken by the supervisor not the customer service agent). I would strongly suggest not purchasing this product due to inability to resolve AND poor customer experience. We purchased a new KitchenAid SS French door fridge. It began having problems immediately. Including not working at all. Imagine the hassle of and loss of a losing all those foods. We purchased a floor freezer to save what we could while KA tried to repair the problems. When the issues continued, we convinced KA to refund our money and they came and took the horrible thing away.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

We remodeled our kitchen in July of 2006. We installed all new KitchenAid appliances. The slide-in gas range/oven (model # KGSA906PSS01) is a terrible product. I had 2 service calls on the oven in the first few years. Once the 5 year warranty had expired the motherboard had to be replaced, followed by the gas valve, the sparker module and the gas range circuits. Buying a new oven now seems like a smarter move. The customer service was unsympathetic and didnt even try to stand by their product.

In our conversion to stainless steel we decided on KitchenAid. We got a bundle deal and purchase three appliances from Lowes and, though I normally never do, I purchased the extended warranty. The microwave (MODEL # KCMS1655BSS) quit working within the first year, still under factory warranty. They brought a new one and out of the box, it did not work! They brought another one and it is still working. Shortly after the first year the oven (MODEL # KEBS179BSS00) was not able to consistently get over 400 degrees. After about 6 service calls and replacing two circuit boards and a temp sensor, it appears to be fixed. The problem is, anytime a part is needed to be replaced, it takes at least 2 service calls. The first one to troubleshoot the problem and say, you need a new (part), and then they order it and the second one to install the part. Jump forward a couple months and the refrigerator (MODEL # KFIS29PBMS00) stops making ice. This problem actually started while we were still dealing with the oven problems! I called in the fridge and before the tech even came out, I realized that it was a cooling problem as my ice cream turned to soup. I called Lowes extended warranty and let them know the problem was not the ice maker but a cooling problem. The tech still came out to troubleshoot the ice maker. I pointed out the problem was cooling, showing him the item in the freezer that were thawing. What does he do, order a new ice maker. After probably a dozen service calls and several replaced parts, I told them I wanted my money back. Reading the extended warranty from Lowes, it says that if the appliance is repaired three times for the same problem that they will buy it back from you. They cut me a check for my purchase price and I went to Home Depot and bought a new Fridge, GE this time. I was very unhappy with KitchenAid and very unhappy with Lowes service techs. I was an electronics tech in the Air Force and I was doing better at troubleshooting this problem than these people were. They were so clueless. Warning, KitchenAid and Whirlpool are the same thing! I will say that the extended warranty served it purpose and we did not have to spend a dime on any of these service calls, that is good. But for the three appliances there were probably 23 service calls in less than 2 years! Those are all days that I have to be home between 8 and 1 or 1 and 5. I always pick the earlier time slot. The vast majority of the time I would get a call around 12:50 letting me know they were on the way. They usually showed up well after 1:00, closer to 2:00, not leaving until 3 or later. My day is shot at that point. Thats 23 days of my life I sat in my house waiting for a service technician in just 2 years.

We purchased a Kitchenaid model KUDS301XBL4 dishwasher about 2 years ago. It appears that the plastic inside the tub is deteriorating and the pegs that hold the rollers for the top rack have broken. I have found this is a common complaint among Kitchenaid dishwasher owners. The parts cost for the repair is about $28 per side plus shipping costs. I did send an e-mail to Kitchenaid explaining the problem and asking them what their solution is regarding the defective parts. No reply at this time. I dont expect them to acknowledge defects or offer a solution based on other complaints I have read . So, I took to finding a solution myself.I examined the mechanism and figured out how it works and had an idea that if I could find the right nylon and stainless steel parts at my hardware store, I could re-install the rollers on a different spot on the sides of the rack. I found all the parts for the four rollers for a total of $7.89 and proceeded with installing them. I had to use a Dremel tool to cut the broken roller pegs off and sand a small plastic ridge flat. I drilled holes and assembled my parts and attached them successfully to each side of the rack (see picture). For each roller, I used a stainless steel screw, washer and lock nut along with a nylon finish washer and a nylon bushing. It works great! It is too bad that Kitchenaid wont stand behind their product, as evident in other, similar complaints. I am not an engineer, but I engineered a solution in one-hour that will last longer than the rest of the original plastic parts in the tub.

KitchenAid KEBS207SS double wall oven with upper convection - This past sum
KitchenAid KEBS207SS double wall oven with upper convection - This past summer, we had a new custom kitchen installed. It was all new from the ground up and very pricey. Instead of buying the high-end Euro brands for all the appliances, we decided to go with KitchenAid for our microwave, double ovens with convection and dishwasher (we did spring for the expensive German cooktop, which I now regret not using for the ovens too). Our KitchenAid ovens started out great. They both warmed up promptly, the convection worked perfectly and it looked great. On labor day weekend, I used the self-clean feature in the upper oven for the first time. Immediately there was the smell of burnt electrical wiring. Quickly, the family room, living room and hallway were hot and smelled too. We had to leave the room where we were watching TV, opened all the windows and turned on the ceiling fans. About 20 minutes later, there was a loud boom followed by crackling sounds. My husband and I came running in from different parts of the house. At first I didnt see anything strange, but kept hearing the popping sounds. Then, I noticed shattered glass all over the kitchen floor, in our pets food bowls and saw glass in the hallway, the family room and all over the counter tops. But the oven was still chugging away with the fan running, door locked and self-cleaning. As I looked more closely, I noticed that something wasnt right about the window on the upper door. The outer piece was intact, but the inner pane was missing. I tried to shut off the oven but since it was mid-process, it wouldnt stop immediately. I couldnt get the door open. After I began to clean up all the glass (which was scattered in a radius of about 15 feet from the ovens), the fan stopped and the door released. When I opened the door, shards of glass fell from it onto the floor. Not to mention the thousands of shards which had, under great pressure, been blown through the sealed door gaskets and out through the sides and under the bottom into the room.I was absolutely dumbfounded. Ive never seen anything like this before and Ive lived in many places and used dozens of self-cleaning ovens. While cleaning up the glass inside the oven, I got a deep cut on my hand. Later that night, I sent emails to the salesperson from the supply company where Id purchased the oven and other appliances. I thought I was in luck because I had purchased additional insurance on all the new appliances. But no luck. My salesman no longer worked there. My emails were auto-returned. I left voice messages but no one called back even after the holiday weekend. I emailed KitchenAid through their website; they give you no phone numbers. It took days to get a call back from anyone. KitchenAid told me to call the supplier. They told me to call their insurer. The insurance company told me it was still under factory warranty. I was chasing around in circles and still cleaning up bits of glass for more than a week. Finally, I heard back from a second complaint to KitchenAid which sent out a local factory repair to look at the mess. They told me theyd replace the glass. I said no. They wanted to charge me over $100 for the visit and I said no. I told them I wanted a new oven and they said they had no authority to order a new oven. So, I searched online and found literally dozens of similar stories, people with exploding KitchenAid ovens on self-clean or just at a high heat. I called back the KitchenAid customer service person (always ask for a name and number) and was referred to the safety department and insisted on a new oven. When the representative started to give me the runaround, I told her that I had looked up the oven on the internet and found dozens of the same instance. She said in a rude way that they were merely comments on the internet and couldnt be verified. When I said Id be happy to hire an attorney to litigate the case and that the first thing we would do would be to contact as many complaints on the web as we could, she suddenly changed her tune. A minute later, she told me that I would be getting a new oven.I wish I could afford to have just accepted it and then thrown it in the trash and replace it with the same brand as my cooktop. But I cant. My replacement was finally installed two days ago after waiting 4 weeks for the part. Ill never use self-clean again on this oven. And as soon as I can afford to do so, I will purchase another brand - any other brand than KitchenAid. After reading about the dishwasher doors that have been catching on fire, I doubt Ill ever buy the brand (or Whirlpool) again. I promise Ill warn as many people as possible. I dont know why there hasnt been a class action suit against them and why the ovens havent been recalled.

In a nutshell, the same part on my fridge (the thermistor assembly) has broken down 5 times since I bought it (roughly every three months) causing the fridge to simultaneously ice over yet not keep the food cold. I have a warranty on it, and per CAs Lemon Law, they should have replaced the fridge by now. But every time I call, they keep coming up with reasons why that it doesnt qualify for a Lemon replacement. (This latest time was that the latest repair had the same claim number because it was technically within 90 days of the last time a technician came out. By this logic, they could give me the same claim number till the end of time and never replace the fridge).I can afford a new fridge, but at this point its a matter of principle. I have wasted thousands of dollars in food, not to mention days of my life dealing with this issue -- and have become convinced (based on my research of other consumer complaints) that this is an issue KitchenAid is aware of and that they have knowingly foisted a faulty product & loophole-ridden warranty onto their consumers and EXPECT us to give up when they give us the run-around. I have researched lawsuits against KitchenAid and their warranty company and have been contacted by lawyers who are interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit. If you are interested in getting more information/participating in a class action lawsuit against KitchenAid, please email me.

I purchased a KitchenAid KDRP463LSS in August 2007 and have had nothing but problems. While it was under warranty, the fan/blower started making noise and had to be replaced. Now, some 4 years after I initially purchased the unit, I attempted to do a self clean, only to have it stop in the middle of the cycle. The control panel is dead and the oven door will not open. I see many of the same complaints on the internet with KitchenAid ranges. I will never purchase another KitchenAid appliance again and I would be very interested in participating in a class action lawsuit against KitchenAid.

Just had our 2 day old oven door shatter. We replaced a 1982 wall oven this week with a KitchenAid wall oven, model KOSE507ESS. It was installed yesterday. Tonight was the first time using the oven. I was preheating it to 400 degrees when I heard a loud pop and then glass was flying out of the bottom. The inside glass window shattered and glass is everywhere. I will be calling our appliance store first thing tomorrow morning. At the moment, no other damage has occurred to anything else other than the oven. I just want it fixed.

Love the fridge, but after two years freezer started to fill with ice. Determined it was a clogged drain line which is a design flaw. Happens often enough that there is a YouTube video to correct problem. Still have to pay for service call. Learned that nothing has been done to correct the problem. Really? Would cost next to nothing to correct. Now a $22 replacement part is available to fix. Cost me $100. I had already figured out problem, emptied fridge and defrosted - otherwise would have been more expensive.

The Plastic wheels on my $800 KitchenAid dishwasher Model KUDS30IX failed after a little over a year. My manual states that the rack is under warranty for 5 years... KitchenAid says the warranty only applies to the nylon coating on the rack, not the wheels. They gave me a one-time replacement part that failed again after 6 months. I now need to pay to service this lemon because Whirlpool (parent co) would not classify as a lemon and replace. This is the very last time I purchase this brand. The customer service people had done nothing but apologized for the inconvenience. They could care less that you are taking multiple days of off to wait for service that should never be in the first place. I am a semi retired senior that saved to purchase my last (what I thought at the time) kitchen range. I have owned KitchenAid ranges in the past and have been very pleased. There were two reasons I purchased this particular brand, it doesnt make any fan noises and for the self cleaning system. To my delight the stove is very quiet and allows an option to turn off all the normal beeping noises and the elements work well. That being said I have never been so disappointed with an oven cleaning system, it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL and yet the company continues to produce this system misleading the public. To me this is a criminal offense except I have no way to make them accountable. I am so disappointed with KitchenAid that they would associate themselves with such an inferior product. It is crucial for me to have a self clean oven and as one of thousands I am now stuck with a product I have come to hate in my kitchen. I am an avid cook and now find there are many products I am unwilling to cook as I have no way to clean my oven. I made wonderful Yorkshire puddings the other night and my husband spent two hours trying to clean the oven but the interior is so shoddy (not really a porcelain coating just some cheap material that cant withstand a proper cleaning and wont come clean with water being heated to 200F doesnt matter how many times you try). The first time after I used the self clean (I have only had the stove for 4 months and cleaned it 5 times) I sat down and cried, having spent so much money and having so much disappointment was a bit overwhelming. I called the place I bought it, they are really great, said the only thing they could do was to sell me a different stove at cost. I appreciated that but I now dont have the funds to do this or I would just to get rid of my stove. I have an extended warranty but this is not considered a warranty issue. I really have trouble with KitchenAid not standing behind their product but more so with a problem they know exists but keep producing, and as consumers we seem powerless to enforce change. As a side note, the oven wasnt hot enough and it does have an option to calibrate the temp. but even so because the oven is not well insulated or made of quality porcelain. During the cooking the temp. can drop as much as 50 degrees before it heats up again which can really affect the cooking process. So all around in general not very happy.

I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

We built a brand new house in 2011/12. New house means all new appliances. Our KUDS30IXSS6 from Sears seemed like a great product at first. So quiet you sometimes didnt even realize it was on. But then the wheels of the top rack broke off one by one. I realized my brand new Hickory floor boards were beginning to warp - the leak apparently inviting a colony of ANTS to live under my dishwasher!!! And the control panel would stop working from time to time, only to magically start working again after a week or two - just as I was about to call in a repairman. Well it has stopped working again and after reading countless stories of people with the same exact experiences as mine, Im not going to waste my money getting it fixed because according to the reports of others it will only happen again and again. This dishwasher is only 3 years old!! Within the first few months the problems started. A $900+ dishwasher that is worth nothing but a headache.

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. Upper rack was over designed with too many moving features causing inherent weaknesses in plastic components. One year after use started the first plastic tabs started breaking. Without buying a whole new rack there was only one option. Had to figure out stainless steel bolts and nuts to replace broken tabs. Tedious but do-able. I believe most people (probably 95%) do not adjust the racks anyway because they are complicated to adjust. Why build things that break? Just keep it simple! Otherwise this dishwasher works great. It is very quiet and washes well. Clean look. If they would make the upper rack as simple as the bottom rack it would be bullet proof. But no, the Kitchenaid engineers and marketing people had to complicate it by putting in breakable features most people do not use. Thanks for messing up an otherwise great product. Now figuring out my fourth set of bolts to keep the upper rack in place and gliding like it should.

I too have the issue of an extremely foul odor coming from my dishwasher since day one (Ive had it less than a year). I have had 3 service calls per Sears. They have all told me the usual, clean with certain products, run a cycle with vinegar and baking soda, it must be my garbage disposal etc... nothing worked. I finally called KitchenAid directly. They sent one of their service people out to inspect the machine today. He explained that the machine was built without a vent fan. I was not aware that dishwashers had vent fans, but I am also not an appliance mechanic. He said that I need to leave the door open and run a cycle of vinegar through after each use. So, I need to use double the water and double the electricity to get one load of dishes done. Not to mention, trip over the open door each time I walk into my kitchen. My questions is... if there is no proper ventilation then I have to assume that mold and bacteria will ultimately become a problem (if not already). Why has no one from KitchenAid thought about this? Ultimately, this is a potential health hazard. All this time I think my dishes are clean when in fact I am just washing them within a dishwasher full of nasty things that can potentially make my family sick. Im glad I dont have infants anymore. Can you imagine sterilizing baby bottles in this piece of crap?! I am still working with KitchenAid to resolve the problem. We will see how this goes. I can say for sure that Sears has been awful, no help whatsoever. Customer service very very rude. I will NEVER purchase another appliance from Sears, and after reading all the horrible reviews, I will never buy another KitchenAid. I am also having issues with the top rack. I have to hold it in while I load the bottom rack. Very inconvenient.Updated 5/30/2016: Just an update to my previous (5/24/2016) post. As I feared, KitchenAid customer service has been no more helpful than Sears customer service. I was told that theres nothing that can be done about the foul smell in my dishwasher. I have been committed to having a piece of crap dishwasher. In the meantime, I am writing letters to the CEO of Whirlpool as well as all the board and committee members. Perhaps if others do the same, one of our letters will end up in the hands of someone who cares. If you do a Google search of CEO of Whirlpool, the leadership page for Whirlpool will come up. We used the Aqualift feature for the first time this weekend on our Kitchenaid oven. The oven really wasnt that dirty, but we wanted to get the glass door cleaner. The Aqualift process did nothing to clean the oven door. No matter how many times we ran the process. We ended up using a half of box of Brillo pads to get the oven door glass clean. This is not what we expected for the price of the range we paid from a kitchen specialty appliance dealer. This experience was unbelievable. The inside of the oven wasnt that much cleaner either. But the 2 cups of water were still sitting on the bottom of the oven like the manual stated. Note: We did not use the Brillo pads on the oven cavity as we did not want to scratch the finish. We have used the pads on other glass items without scratching the glass; therefore did the oven glass door only. It took about 2 hours of manual labor to get the glass cleaned. This will be the last Kitchenaid product we purchase as a result.

Our KitchenAid refrigerator has had a host of issues since we bought it. The main current issue is ice buildup at the bottom of the freezer, which has created huge puddles that have warped our wood floor. The issue is a plugged defrost drain line. KitchenAid knows about this issue, as there is a published workaround and a new part to replace the too narrow, easily plugged drain line. I havent bothered to call them because its out of warranty, and they are sticklers for their 1-year warranty. Also about 9 months after I bought it, I noticed rust starting on the stainless steel door. It was caused by a faulty heating unit in the French doors, which was causing moisture buildup along the inside of the doors. KitchenAid sent a tech out to fix it for free. BUT the rust was not covered by warranty at all (Theres a 30-day warranty for cosmetic issues, never mind that the cosmetic issue was caused by an equipment failure).

We built a new house in 2012 and bought all new KitchenAid appliances. I thought I was buying a great branded product. My natural behavior is to buy the best and when I went in to buy appliances for my new house, I was directed to KitchenAid. I started my experience by having several problems with our microwave and with my cooktop at one time, with the burners not working correctly. I also had the board on our dishwasher go out. However, my fridge is a nightmare. I started having a problem 4 months into my purchase. I bought a French door fridge, and my kids do not always pay attention to how the door closes so once in a while, it stays slightly cracked open. KitchenAid tells me I need to train my 2, 5 and 8 year old kids to check the fridge door. Do you think kids will remember this all the time? The problem is that the beeper does not let you know if someone left it open until after 5 minutes. The other problem is the sound on the beeper. I can hardly hear it, and there is no adjustment for higher volume there either.I can hardly blame kids or teach kids that are 2, 5 and 8 years old to shut a door and check it. I can tell you that I know I bought the most highly priced fridge on the market and a simple timer and beeper on the thing is not adjustable. I cant even get an upgrade to fix my problem. I offered to pay for the fix and nobody can help. I am asking for a louder beeper and a timer for an alarm, and nobody can help. More functionality is what the consumer is asking for. Supposedly, we buy the highest priced item on the market so that we would get more support, or at least an option to add this to your fridge? I would have expected this from cheaper models, but a KitchenAid, as far as what I have been told, is the best. Well, I got room for argument on that one. I went to Sears today and LG and Samsung have adjustable timers and adjustable sound within their appliances. My plan is to buy one and never own a Whirlpool, Kenmore, or KitchenAid ever again because I absolutely cannot get a response from this leadership team within the Whirlpool organization. This is the 6th time since I have owned this fridge that this has happened. I figured, to replace all the food in my fridge, it would cost me $60-$100 each time. At this rate, it is too costly, with your cost of the product and the way it is engineered to afford your products from this point forward. I am not happy about the communication I have gotten from KitchenAid and Whirlpool to address my problem. I am not happy about supposedly purchasing the best brand on the market and not having more flexibility to adjust timers and beepers.I am not happy about having to replace my fridge in my new home 18 months after purchase. I am not happy because I will have to try and match stainless colors on the new Samsung or LG brand product I intend on buying. I am not happy about not being able to match all my appliances in my new home because KitchenAid can’t offer a product with adjustable timers and beepers. I am only one customer, and I never bad mouth anyone’s products. But if someone asks about my new KitchenAid products, I will let them know my experience with customer support and product experiences I had from the Whirlpool umbrella.

Ordered dishwasher (Model # KDFE304DWHO) 3-9-15, Lowes delivered & set up 3-25-15. Dishes not getting clean on any of the settings, scum accumulates behind the door on bottom, stainless steel inside stays wet & there is an odor. Repair man came 8-14-15, said I was using too much soap, told me to put soap in prewash cup only. Same day I called KitchenAid, Ester told me to put 1 dishwashing tablet in the main wash cup only, use a rinsing agent, run my dishwasher thru a clean cycle monthly (where is the clean cycle?) & do not prewash my dishes. Ester told me all about her mother owning the same dishwasher only a SS. I told Ester we have had dishwashers for many years & I have already tried all the troubleshooting that was required many times. I told her I wanted to exchange the dishwasher, this was not an option. She told me if I requested another service call, I would have to pay for it. I believe KitchenAid wants to stall you so your warranty will run out then say sorry.

I purchased a Refrigerator/Freezer in 2012 for my cottage from a local dealer. Over the last year Ice has built up in the freezer floor and then there is water leakage. I would get rid of the ice build up and then no leakage for a short time and then it would start all over again. In the meantime the floor and side wall of the kitchen which housed the fridge became damaged. I called the dealer and they tried to give some things to do which did not work. Eventually we got the dealer out and they came with a new valve and installed a P trap drain tube. Apparently Whirlpool have known of this problem and never let any of their consumers know.As we are on an Island it cost us a lot of money to get a repairman out to replace this piece. I called Whirlpool and they did not want to discuss it and dissuade they could have sent me a replacement but would not pay for the cost of the work to replace the valve even though they knew for years that there was a problem with this part. I will never again get anything made by Whirlpool.

There is a near identical complaint on this website. KitchenAid will cover the part, but not the labor. I had shattered hot glass all over my kitchen floor because it slides out the bottom crack. It got into the bottom oven, shards come out every time I open either oven, even though I tried to vacuum in the cracks. Really KitchenAid?

Kitchenaid khms2056sss-2 microwave - Microwave keeps beeping for no reason. Often controls are frozen and cannot be accessed for several minutes. Randomly selects cooking task such as reheating pizza or melting butter with no input from owner. Even after the microwave is unplugged for 5 seconds, it still starts up its beeping without input or any reason. Each time the unit is unplugged, the owner resets the time and date as requested by the screen. The light for the microwave does not go on adequately to see what is cooking. Due to the design, the window is so high that it takes steps to see into the oven.

KitchenAid fridge model #: KFIV29KPMS03, S/N K43117611. Delivered: 9-16-14. Price: $3,038.00, including $ 199.99 for five year warranty. Issue: Defective freezer seal causes frost ice accumulation, see photo, below. 1st warranty call to KitchenAid 10-22-14 recd appointment for 10-27-14. Repair tech made a few adjustments. 2nd warranty call 11-12-14 recd appointment on 11-14-14. Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. He was correct. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. They deferred to the factory. If silicon sealant fixes this defect, why dont the display/floor models have it on them?Photo 11-14-14. Can anything be done to force KitchenAid to replace this obviously defective product?

KitchenAid oven STOP working after the FIRST self cleaning; cost me $89.00 to diagnose and 200 to repair....... Again, what garbage these people sell. KitchenAid fridge ice maker STOP working, need to fix. KitchenAid microwave handle fall off after 3 years of use. Ive had this dishwasher model KUDS30iXSS4 with stainless steel tub for 5 years and the only way to get dishes clean is to set it for pot scrubber and on the longer cycle. The top rack has plastic wheels to roll it in and out that completely broke off so it cant be used. Replacement parts are over $135 and I dont know if I can fix it myself. Ive had dishwashers last 15+ years with 0 problems so I think this one isnt living up to expectations. I bought the stainless tub because I thought it would last. I can see from these reviews the top shelf wheels are a major design fault. Many complaints about the plastic wheels breaking off as well as other plastic pieces failing. When I replace this and Im sure I will have to, I wont replace it with another KitchenAid.

In 2010 my wife had her dream kitchen installed, which included all Kitchenaid Stainless Steel appliances. All top of the line. (Sadly, my wife died a year and a half later of cancer) It is now just me, and an occasional child home from college, so these appliances are getting very light use. The freezer on the bottom refrigerator started to fill with ice at the bottom, which destroyed the Cherry floor underneath. This was due to a clogged duck valve, which is a two dollar part. The repairman said that they all do it, and a replacement part that was modified was installed. The damage to the floor is estimated to be over a thousand dollars. The dishwasher has gone through two thermal fuses, and now wont cycle. Im waiting for the repairman as I write this. I will never recommend any Kitchenaid appliance to anyone, and my three kids who are all in the process of going out on their own will not either. My call to Kitchenaid for the refrigerator problem was not only unhelpful, but I ended up at a call center in who knows where. So, avoid this brand. I am so disgusted with the dishwasher that I am ready to have it replaced.

My four year old Kitchen Aid dishwasher (model kudko31twh2) has been a headache. Numerous calls for leaks has not fixed the problem through Bestbuy extended warranty companies. Now, my new kitchen floor is damaged, and this past Saturday, Feb 18, the machine gave off a burning smell. I had to remove the machine from the premises, due to the smell, and felt compelled to purchase a new dishwasher, even though there is still time left on my extended warranty. I am very angry and frustrated that Kitchen Aid said it is Best Buys problem, and not theirs. They might be right, but they should stand behind their products better.

A five-year warranty was taken on my KitchenAid fridge. I called after 2 weeks of the delivery, and said that the lower box has a crack. They said they only accept claims of such when reported in 24-48 hours. I had moved to a brand new house; upon appliance delivery we went back to Markham and finally after all furniture was here, with small kids, we planned to stay, so I saw the crack then. After 3-4 days, I called cracks on the wall. They said no worries, that its cosmetic, and no heat or air is going out. Wow! A big expensive brand says that - its sad. Why not disclose this when I went to buy? I spent over $20k on KitchenAid when I built my house. I am very sad with the outcome. I need my fridge changed.

Whirlpool/kitchen aid says its repairable; however, all of the parts are on backorder. After waiting for 2 months I have called to request replacement of a 6 month old $1200 microwave, and told by Megan a supervisor at Whirlpool that the warranty does not cover replacement since it can be fixed. However, they do not currently have the parts to make the repair, and no timetable for the repair. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product including all brands they manufacture. Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. The appliances were all mid range models, not bottom of the line. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. I would NEVER recommend KitchenAid. This has been just way too many problems with these appliances in such a short period of time, makes us worried by the quality and long term functionality.

Dear FOLKS, please read this review. WE FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION!! My wife
Dear FOLKS, please read this review. WE FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION!! My wife and I remodeled our upscale homes kitchen 2+ years ago. Granite, all brand new top of the line Kitchenaid appliances. We wanted to buy American, since I have had a 35 year + career in US based manufacturing sales. Well, the KFIS29PBMS refrigerator was unbearably loud from day 1. We had 4 warranty calls right off the bat. They replaced the DC fan motor, the compressor and some icemaker components. This did nothing to relieve the very loud whiny electrical motor sound that was on almost constantly. This took us to the end of our 1 year mfg warranty. We called Kitchenaid several times and they basically showed us their corporate middle finger. They suggested we purchase the extended warranty, which was several hundred $ more! No way, we are not that stupid or foolish. 5 different factory authorized service people visited us. By luck, or I think, Gods grace, repairman #5, who had 18 years as a tech rep, finally solved the issue. The problem was the sealed refrigerant system had a leak. The compressor was kicking into the highest gear (hence the loudest noise level) to try and keep the freezer & refrigerator cool. Our bottom drawer freezers coldest temp was at 20 degrees, when it should have been 0 degrees. The icemaker requires 15 degrees to make ice. It could not do this since 15 degrees was colder than the freezer temp, and the icemaker is located in the refrigerator section! The sealed system has a 10-year warranty, so the final repair cost $0!! Our refrigerator is now very quiet, much to our delight. There were times when we could not deal with sitting at our kitchen table. So, justice was finally done. Call your factory authorized repair people and make them check the temps in the freezer. Kitchenaid needs to stand behind their substandard products. The repair people advised us that Kitchenaid will no longer pay for warranty calls based on noise. If their customers make them replace the expensive sealed refrigerant system enough, perhaps they will spend the extra $ to install better quality units from better quality suppliers. I was told by every tech rep that the quality of todays appliances have deteriorated significantly in recent years. The big companies wants your $, but dont care if they send you bad products. Thank you, I hope this helps many people.

Bought this high end dishwasher in January. Immediate problems where washer stopped mid-cycle. Over six months had repairman out constantly. The fix never lasted a week. Couldnt get a replacement washer until June after a zillion repair visits. The replacement washer which was the same model worked 4 mos. now again having same problem. Repairman usually cant come for 10 days and then sometimes a part must be ordered and another visit made. In between time, we have no dishwasher. This is fraudulent and for customer a whole year of misery. The dishwasher model is first in the series. Obviously a lemon and should simply be replaced quickly with a different model. Super surprised a large company does not have a better service/replacement policy. It is unethical. The product does not work.

Bought a new side by side with ice maker from Sears in Feb 2012. By July noticed my floor was swollen and wet. Called the tech out. It had a crack in the water valve so it had a slow leak for months. The tech said he never sees these crack. Told me to call Whirlpool. Did, they told me to call Sedgewick which handles the insurance claims. Then Sedgewick told me they couldnt do anything because I didnt have the broke part. How is the average consumer suppose to know to keep it? The tech took it with him. How nice for them. Sedgewick told me to call Whirlpool back. Did, no answer. Had to leave message. Did that twice. Then I went to Sears, said they would look into it. Havent heard a peep. Needless to say have to turn it into my insurance for the 6000.00 damage to the floor you can see, doesnt include the sub floor that might be damaged or the mold that might be under there. This has been a ongoing thing for over a year. Never again will I buy anything Whirlpool or Sears. Customer service is awful. Now 2 of the knobs on the stove I bought at the same time will not turn. I purchased in Feb. 2013 a new 27 convection double ovens Model kebs279bss00. Upper oven is very loud, exhaust fan constantly on, and it runs during preheat, cooking and cool down. Lower oven is much quieter. Cool down for a typical 350 oven is 30 minutes of this loud fan. Then it started a vibration noise. Both the convection and the exhaust fans have been replaced. Fan noise is still unacceptable. You cannot carry conversation over dinner! I attempted to contact Kitchen Aid to discuss further and waited on hold for 15 minutes. The top rack rollers are simply defective. We have replaced ours through service calls and self repair no less than 5 times in the past 4 years. Finally on the last repair the technician completely replaced the roller and rack arms because the factory had recalled the parts. Yet, I wasnt notified of this by the company. My dishwasher had to break down first before the problem was addressed. To me this smacks of covert activity and doesnt promote my loyalty to the company. Additionally our motherboard has been replaced twice... The first replacement was defective. And today Im doing dishes by hand as the control panel is unresponsive again. We purchased the extended warranty - thank goodness, but again using a warranty on what will now be the 8th time a service tech comes to our home is ridiculous!! Worse yet when we talked to the service department, they have only documented three service calls! Whats that about?? In hindsight, I remember there was paperwork to sign on some calls and not on others. So, I cant prove or verify the number of visits through a paper trail. I would suggest always documenting whenever you call regarding your appliance or have a technician enter your home. Writing the dates, times, and contact person on the appliance manual would be an excellent place to store that information. With each service call the response time is getting shorter. Of that I am very thankful, but shame on any company that would have even three warranty service calls on a product! Buying an appliance shouldnt be a gamble; it should be a wise investment. We were thinking that perhaps the dishwasher was just a lemon. An oddity that the company would gladly replace. It does happen that for an unknown reason one will just be bad. Unfortunately, as I read these reviews, I dont see much hope of the situation being rectified to our satisfaction. I will pursue a request for replacement and hope the company will honor my consumer request. It appears their dishwasher line leaves much to be desired. Other review sites indicate that the KitchenAid dishwasher is better passed over for a more reliable brand. It is unfortunate as the dishwasher meets my expectations when it is operational. However, I will report any satisfactory outcomes I encounter through my attempts at recourse.

We installed our KitchenAid Refrigerator model #KFXS25RYBLO in February 2015. Within 6 months the ice maker stopped making ice. The repairman told us it needed to be replaced and that he has had to replace EVERY KitchenAid ice maker from that model. Next 1 year later the hose froze up and had to be replaced. The repairman explained that it was a new and improved hose that once again KitchenAid replaced. Then 1 year later the bottom freezer froze up. Once again another repair. Then today March 2018 the ice machine is AGAIN not making ice and after troubleshooting the repairman now says we need a new ice maker. This is the WORST refrigerator that we have had in our 41 year marriage!

My fridge is great. Sturdy, sleek & keeps my food fresh. Freshness is important to me and my family. Just the right size! Not too big or too small. With three people in our house that drink different flavors of soda, all three 12 packs fit!!!

I wish you could give negative stars for their crappy product. We purchased a kitchenaid built-in refrigerator. After only 2 months of operation the refrigerator quit cooling. Both freezer and refrigerator stopped working. We lost all our freezer food and we were forced to rent another refrigerator while waiting for an appointment to have the refrigerator repaired. The refrigerator is still under the warranty period. We have had the assigned repair company come out three times. They have replaced the control module voltage inverter. The refrigerator is still not working and now the repair person has stated he is not sure and will start replacing more parts. KitchenAid has stated that they will NOT do anything but allow this technician to replace part by part. This is a $10K refrigerator and they have little regard to helping resolve the issue. Stay away from KitchenAid.

KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDS02FRSS2 - We bought this dishwasher from a local distributor to the trade for more than $1100 in September 2006 and now, in less than 6.5 years, the control panel has stopped working. I tried all the suggestions in the manual and that customer service recommended without results. We set up a service appointment with a KitchenAid certified repair firm with a ridiculous $150 appointment charge. The tech tried to run diagnostics on it with no apparent success and just came back with a, It looks like you need a new control panel! Of course, he tried to sell me a $300+ extended warranty, in case anything else goes wrong. For just $430, I could have my gently used (run less than once a week in its life) $1200 dishwasher back in use. This unit was installed with our kitchen remodel when we also bought KitchenAid cabinet-depth refrigerator, dual fuel range, microwave and dishwasher, $7500 in what we thought were premium appliances. Im pissed at the lack of customer service support and, based on what I read here, are significant quality issues with KitchenAid dishwashers and a company focused more on selling extended warranties. Im a very dissatisfied customer.

Cannot get service until December 23, from someplace about an hour away from us, they dont have anyone closer. Although there is a repairman in our town. Customer service is totally useless.

This company needs to be rebranded as KitchenJunk. Owned our KitchenAid dishwasher less than two years. Weve already replaced the pump twice and the electrical panel once. I have NEVER had an appliance break as much as this KitchenAid. My advice, no matter what you hear, stay away from KitchenAid!

Mod KUDS30FXSS9 SER F31602990 - On Dec 31 at about 11.45 PM I was awaken with smoke coming out of my KitchenAid dishwasher door! Wires inside the door had shorted out and melt together. Fumes from this make my wife very sick for days! I have photo of inside the door if you like to see them. NEVER turn on a dishwasher on and go to bed! You might never wake up!

On 8/12, I came home and loaded dishwasher (purchased 2/12), attempted to run. My wife said she didnt think it was operating correctly, so she tried it again. After a short time, she noticed it was off. I then went to check it out myself. I turned it on and at that time, I thought I heard water. I quickly turned it off and opened the dishwasher. It was dry. I closed the door and started to remove the trim panel and water started coming out. I then went downstairs (finished basement) and my ceiling was flooded and falling apart, carpet soaked and furniture wet. I was upset at first but thought, well, its just the basement, it wont affect us too much while repairs are being done. I called the insurance company and they sent out Water Mitigation Crew right away. They started to clean up in the basement and drying the floor joist. They then tested the kitchen floor and found that the water had seeped under the backer-board and they had to tear up half of our (less than 6 months old) kitchen floor/tile to dry it out properly. It had also worked its way into the living room area and cupped up some of my hardwood floor. So upon calling KitchenAid, they said they would send a certified tech out. He came out to see what went wrong and found the pump had came off at one of the factory clamp (crimp style). The tech called tech support, they said put a hose clamp on it. The tech did not feel comfortable with doing that, to be honest with you, neither does my wife and I since there are multiple crimp style clamps on the unit. The tech did not do the repair and recommended replacement. KitchenAid said they need a second opinion and that either way, they would not replace the unit and they need to install a hose clamp on it. Keep in mind, this appointment is now over 2 weeks away and my insurance company is not authorizing any repairs to my home until the defective dishwasher is replaced or repaired. Im just outside of Atlanta city limits and the best they can do is 2 weeks for service? I didnt mention the day this happened was the first day we brought home our newborn (really doesnt matter) but it adds to the stress level, and half of our kitchen is torn apart. Im not even going to get into how poor the customer service was over the phone with KitchenAid other than the fact nobody in that company can make a decision and you speak to someone different every time and they pass you around and you have to re-explain the situation. We are not sure what to do. We may remove the dishwasher and buy a different one (not comfortable with existing) so we can move forward with getting our home fixed. With what we paid for the deductible and what our insurance has authorized for the basement and new kitchen floor, we are at almost $11,000. The Water Mitigation Company is coming back out to check out the hardwood floors again and may have to replace that. We were not expecting an unscheduled remodel of our kitchen and possibly our living room floor. One of my biggest problems Im having is, when I ask customer support if a repair is done, what kind of peace of mind do we get knowing this wont happen again via house damaged/flooded, the answer I keep getting is, as long as its within 30 days, we will come out for no charge and fix the dishwasher. It seems to me they couldnt care less our home is damaged. I would imagine now that I have a water damage claim with insurance, I will have to disclose this when we try to sell the home some day. My insurance could go up. We are so upset/angry/dissatisfied. Words cannot describe. I have asked more than once to speak to someone above a supervisor in the company and I was told that person doesnt talk to customers. I want my house fixed back to the way it was and I really dont feel I should be responsible for the deductible and I dont think its fair to my insurance company either. Im very frustrated and dont know what to do.

I am sick to my stomach... Just redid my entire kitchen in KitchenAid products thinking they were a good investment. The built-in wall oven is the WORST. I have used it once, for one batch of cookies - 350 degrees, bake time - 10 minutes. The first sign of trouble was how loud the oven was when cooking, seriously annoying. I figured I could get used to that, thinking it was just new technology at work. Was I ever wrong. The fan (and it is loud) has continued for an hour... As I write this, it is still as loud as can be. And we are talking only 10 minutes of cook time at 350 degrees! I am so bummed I cant stand it. I have never written a review for anything in my life, but because I know that I am going to have absolutely no recourse on this (I can hear it now... But there isnt anything wrong with the oven), Id like to prevent someone else from making the same mistake.

I purchased microwave/hood combo in October 2010, installed November 2010. Unit no longer heats as of mid December 2011. I did not want microwave in the way for holidays so I contacted them in January. The second service call, I was informed element inside turntable had melted. After several more service calls, six all together, my unit has been on my dining room table for almost three months. Repeated calls to Whirlpool/KitchenAid have gotten me nowhere. I maintained that if part of the turntable melted, unit must be defective. I now have to pay $315 to get the unit replaced. They have no concern that I missed work on numerous occasions for failed service calls or that I paid for initial service call. If product is defective, it should be replaced without further cost to me.

KFIS27CXWH2 - We purchased this French door style/bottom freezer style from ABT Electronics in July 2011. Within two years we had leaking under freezer under our wooden floors. We called one serviceman who couldnt detect the issue. Called ABT and they were out approximately 12 times to finally resolve the issue by installing a heater unit in ice maker which happens to be located in the upper left side of the ceiling inside refrigerator. Never again will I purchase a unit with an ice maker in unit vs. freezer. Just after a year and parts warranty expiration - it began leaking again and thankfully I was home to avoid a real disaster and could turn off water. Yet another serviceman was out 2 days again who left stating he couldnt find anything wrong with ice maker. As of today water is not running into ice maker although we do have water in the dispenser on outside door of unit. Has anyone else had this model who has experienced the same issue? Every time I decide to replace the unit - I want to try one more time to remedy this problem.

Purchased all new appliances 4 years ago, worst mistake and purchase ever made. Our KitchenAid fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave were all replaced 4 times. That was by the store we bought them from NOT the actual company as KitchenAid will not replace their defective junk. The fridge we have now was purchased in 2016 and has been repaired 3 times already, currently pending a fourth repair after having to fight with the executive office this morning. Our fridge is making the loudest vibrating noise you can’t stand to stay in our 3600sq ft home. Customer service could get someone out by the 26th! Two weeks away. I called the service company they schedule at and they luckily had a cancellation tomorrow but told me it’s not under warranty. KitchenAid sent over the old fridge they replaced model number and warranty info., which, it would still have been covered. When I called executive management again today they wanted to blame me saying there are so many files. It’s hard to find things. So I had to give Nikisha the work order number her customer service gave me! Then she said, Oh, it was a manual submission. Seriously?! Then I had to read the warranty to her from the book I was given about how the warranty works. Horrible appliances, horrible customer service and I dread tomorrow as every time service comes out it requires a part and parts take 2-4 weeks to receive!

I have a kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker and water dispenser on the door. This was not a cheap appliance at $2500.00. The ice maker has only worked on and off for a month out of the 11 months I have had this appliance. After four visits for repair and two door replacements at a cost of $1700.00 a door x 2 $3400.00 for door replacement alone not including a water valve replacement and labor for four trips, my ice maker still does not work. I asked a supervisor for a refund for my defective product. Was told they had to go through repair process. It would have been more cost effective to refund my money!! Still no resolution! No one wants to help! Totally frustrated, WILL NEVER BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN!!!!
