I purchased all KitchenAid appliances with the thought that they were the best. Since the purchase, the dishwasher has been repaired three times and is currently needing repair again; the refrigerator has been repaired twice - once the compressor had to be replaced; the range has been repaired twice and still takes about an hour to preheat, in addition the surface knobs turn on so easily that just brushing against them turns the burners on accidentally - the dog has turned them on twice - once when no one was home - nearly catching the house on fire; the microwave currently makes a popping noise and has had to be repaired once before. All of these repairs are in addition to minor repairs like refrigerator shelves/doors breaking and handles coming off. I will never again buy a KitchenAid appliance. KitchenAid products are worthless and have a terrible design.

Kitchenaid dishwasher model kuds301xwh7 - This dishwasher is 23 months old. 3 of the 4 upper rack clips have broken. When I called Maytag to schedule service for 10/30, the service provider Bragdon Appliance never showed up. When I called, on 3 occasions, I left messages with no return calls made to me. I called Maytag again to be told they couldnt get them back until 11/7/14. I escalated to a supervisor, Benjamin, who told me they couldnt anyone out any sooner b/c there arent any other providers. I have scheduled service and I am going to buy the replacement part and try to fix on my own. Looking @ the racks they are highly corroded and brittle looking. We dont use high heat or heated dry. We use the silverware rack from our old GE from 7 years ago that is not as corroded nor does it feel brittle.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher new in 2012. In just 3 years it has broke several times. First 4 times it was the upper rack wheel assembly. Plastic wheel retainer clip broke ($22 each piece online-easy to install). Using the broken racks I made a new and improved replacement wheel retainer. I drilled a hole through the piece and added a stainless steel screw and washer. Now when it breaks again next week, I will have a permanent fix for it. Most recently the touchpad control panel also has to be replaced on the unit. I called customer service and they said I had to have a licensed tech diagnose it. Luckily the touchpad is covered under the 2nd to 5th year warranty but I have to pay for labor ($100). I bought this brand for its reliability and as a loyal customer, I will definitely look elsewhere the next time it breaks. I shouldnt have to pay repair service for something under warranty. They are obviously making there money on replacement parts. Please do not buy this dishwasher. They do not care about quality and you will pay for it over time.

I purchased a side by side Kitchenaid (KRFC704FSS00) fridge in April 2017 and was so excited for this beautiful appliance! It was their newest model, with all the latest features and upgraded interior and had a hefty price tag. After a few months our ice machine was not working properly so we had to have a technician come out. They told us this machine does not produce large amounts of ice and makes it every 3 hours. With a family of six this is not cutting it, there is never any ice!!!Woke up this morning to find our Fridge had DIED!!! No power and all the food was spoiling. The board blew out after 16 months of purchasing. Absolutely ridiculous. And of course since it has been over 1 year since purchase, so it is no longer covered under warranty. $500 later to have the unit fixed. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I will never purchase a Kitchenaid/Whirlpool product again!

My 2008 built-in needs a new panel (brain). Its no longer made, so the only solution is to disable my unit, send the panel out (at MY expense), have someone repair it, and hope for the best. By the way, no guarantee of how long it will take or if it is actually the fix we need. The freezer door had to be replaced just a few months after we purchased this unit. The ice maker flap wasnt working properly. This unit was about $6000, and I really dont want to buy a new one but may have no choice! This is ridiculous!!!

The dishwasher cleans the dishes reliably without worry! It was purchased in 1993 and it is still running great! It is a standard size dishwasher with a place separate for utensils. It is the top of the KitchenAid line at that time. It is the standard KitchenAid Superba from 1993. It has a black, shiny front with chrome control buttons. I have owned this dishwasher for a very long time. I have had one service call on it. I hope it lasts forever! The newer units are said to be less reliable and not as good at cleaning. I love this dishwasher. I am very pleased with it!

My water line that runs inside the freezer door freezes up causing water and ice dispenser not to work. Service call and repair two weeks ago - $98.00. Now it has happened again. This KitchenAid refrigerator is not quite 3 years old. Paid extra to get water and ice inside door. I really think it should last longer than it does. Repairman said it seems as though water line is placed too close to cooling and we made need to buy a new door for $900 to fix it. This wont happen. This will be my last experience with Sears and KitchenAid.

My wife and I purchased KitchenAid appliances for our home thinking that these would be quality products and something that would last with the least problems. Also, we have received good service from their company reps. As with various KitchenAid models, there seems to be issues with the self-clean mode on the ovens. The first time we tried to use the self-clean mode, it locked up after about an hour and would not release nor would our oven operate. We called for service and we chose only the 1-year warranty so ours was out of warranty. It became a costly repair of about $300.00 to replace a burned-out thermostat. After repair, about a month later, we tried to clean it again and the same occurred. This time, I researched on the Internet for the schematics and I replaced the same thermostat for $50.00 myself. The stove did work and freed up but we still cannot use the self-clean mode. What is the sense of paying for quality products and paying for features you cannot use? KitchenAid says there is nothing they will do as no recall has been issued. Can this also become a danger to use in our home? Needless to say, we also have problems with our ice maker on our KitchenAid refrigerator which is also out of warranty. The problem here is the ice cubes get hung up in the maker and stops making ice as it is hung up. Who wants to check this every day?

I did some research and apparently Im not the only one having a problem. The internet is loaded with complaints for these product. Ive had two repair call - both cost $125.00-150.00. Ive complain to KitchenAid, however they just pass me off as a non-valued consumer. Ive reported them the BB and will no longer purchase their product and I would strongly recommend not to purchase any of their products because of inferior design workmanship and customer support.

Spent $3200+ on a KitchenAid Refrigerator model KRMF606ESS00 about a year ago. Weve had nothing but problems since we got it. The ice/water dispenser would stick open and wed end up with water and ice on the floor. The tech that came out to fix it said that theres a known delay between the ice/water paddle dispenser and the computer that tells the refrigerator to dispense the water. He did replace the unit because it was sticking as well as the delay. This helped. Would have been nice to know this before ordering the refrigerator. Shortly after that was fixed we noticed that our food was spoiling prematurely and the refrigerator seemed warm. I bought a thermometer and found out that the inside of the refrigerator was around 46-48 degrees when it was set to 33. This time the tech that came out said that the paddles werent opening to allow cold air into the refrigerator. Fine. Ordered a part that came in in a few days and installed it. The tech cleaned out pounds of ice that had built up in the back of the unit between the fridge and the freezer when he installed this part. Because of this, all seemed well for a week or 2 until the thermometer started climbing up again. However, this did not fix the problem. This time the tech that came out said it was a gas solenoid that needed to be ordered - something about the coolant not distributing properly between the freezer and fridge. He said it would be a few days to order the part. Five days later I call the repair people again and they said they had to order the part from the manufacturer and it would still be another week or 2. Um HELLO we have spoiled food here and it is the week before Christmas. Nothing we can do maam. We can overnight the part for $100. Call the manufacturer to see if they can do anything. Called the manufacturer WHIRLPOOL who proceeded tell me that theres nothing they could do - they got the order for the part - it IS IN STOCK but they havent shipped it yet. Well, can you overnight it? That is not our policy maam. What? Why not? Can I talk to your supervisor? No maam, that is not our policy. I can email my supervisor and they will get back to you in 24-48 hours. Are you kidding me?? You dont have a supervisor? That is not our policy maam. If he called me maam one more time I would have jumped through the phone. So basically, screw you, customer. Were not helping you and dont care if your food is spoiling. Oh, but were happy to take your $100+ per year to extend your warranty on this piece of crap. DONT BUY KITCHENAID IF YOU WANT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ARE THE WORST.

I too purchased all KitchenAid for my new home. The double oven does not regular and overheats. The dishwasher does not clean well and never has, has had to be repaired already. Exhaust vent with microwave does not remove steam from cooking. Stove top has not been bad yet, knock on wood. Side by side Refrigerator what a joke. As other reviews stated the interior was not designed by anyone who works in a kitchen. I had the repair man out to fix my dishwasher and he noticed the frig was making strange noises. What nice guy to even mention it, he stated they were having problems with them, got the frig fixed for free. One year later, upper frig not working. Kitchenaid, Whirlpool, your product sucks. Come from small community but Big family, I am ashamed to state you are an American made company. Will never buy them again! Also fridge is a stainless steel exterior, did not know stainless steel could rust. Consumer beware!

When we purchase our home, we inherited a built-in refrigerator, model listed above, and it immediately broke down. We had a home warranty and it was repaired satisfactorily under that warranty without assistance from KitchenAid. It was around a 1K repair. The unit was 6 years old. The next repair was one month out of warranty and we repaired again. This time it was over $600.Now my fridge is dead again. I contacted KitchenAid to request a concession due to the fact that the first repairs were done without their assistance and the fact that this unit cannot seem to operate without major repairs. Mind you, this units replacement cost is over 14K. They denied my request for assistance. We now are facing replacing the entire sealed system and multiple boards, and maybe the evaporator fan motor (that have already been replaced before at our cost). I would not ever consider purchasing another unit from KitchAid due to the longevity and customer satisfaction. At our prior home we had a SubZero built-in that was purchased new in 1987 for 6K and when our home sold 29 years later, it was still working with only minor issues during those 29 years.

KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDS30FXSS. As a consumer I am loath to leave a bad reviews, but I have to say I am very disappointed in my dishwasher and in KitchenAid as a company. Within the first year a plastic valve sprang a leak and flooded my floor. A year and a half later the upper rack is broken, and the motor has failed. The failure of the valve and the rack I ascribe to bad design and/or use of substandard materials, but the motor problem is more complicated. The factory service technician wanted to assign blame to me, by suggesting that something hard left on the dishes of a piece of broken glass ruined the motor. I have been careful with this machine, and always rinsed dishes before putting them in. Before this I had an Asko Cylinda which got me in the habit of pre-rinsing. Over the 12 years I owned that dishwasher I had to call for service two or three times when small particles would get past the filters and obstruct the flow of water to the spray arms. The remedy was simply to remove the obstruction, however. It never required a new motor. The KitchenAid is supposed to have a soft waste disposal built in. One would think that would provide more protection, but, in fact, it not only failed to prevent a particle from getting in the system but there was nothing to keep it from destroying the motor once it got in. That suggests bad design to me. Secondarily, I have an issue with KitchenAid itself. At every turn the company pretends that customer satisfaction is primary. Their people are always polite, but they are just the velvet glove that hides the iron fist. But the bottom line, in my experience with the company, is that its strict and narrow policies mostly let them off the hook and out of responsibility when something goes wrong. Their service personnel express sympathy but tell you they are bound by policy. Of course, they are KitchenAids people, and KitchenAid makes the rules that make it difficult for the technicians to do right by the consumer. A company that values repeat business (I bought a KA refrigerator from the same designer series first) should barricade itself behind its rules only in the most flagrant cases of consumer negligence or abuse. I paid over $900 dollars for what I thought was a best-quality, USA-made product that would last and had an excellent company name behind it. I used it regularly and took good care of it. A year and a half later, the company will only fix half of whats now wrong with it, and informs me I am responsible for replacing the motor at a cost of $450. For that much money I could buy a Maytag (also made by Whirlpool) or I could triple that amount and get another Asko or a Bosch. Certainly, I will never trust KitchenAid again.

I replaced the defective control board W10219463 on my 10 year old Kitchen-Aid 42 built-in refrigerator KSSC42QMS01 with a new Service Kit W10818296 which included a new control panel which has 8 wired connectors coming out of a new metal box. To install just remove the connectors from the old control box and trash the metal enclosure and circuit board. Install the new control box and plug the new connectors into the old ones that came from the old circuit board. Each of the 8 connectors from the new control board and the 8 connectors that were removed from the old board are matching, just plug in the connectors as they fit no need to label first. The new control board has 2 circuit boards instead of one and it looks like the relays and capacitors which fail on the old boards are larger and more robust. I bought the service kit from Sears which took 3 days, and paid $350.00 which included a 2 year warranty. The replacement cost for this model is around $8,000 and I suspect it wont be the last part I purchase for this refrigerator.

Our compressor is broken on our refrigerator. The tech who came to repair it said the problem is that its a faulty compressor. This happens frequently, he said, and the company that made the faulty compressors that used to go into KitchenAid refrigerators went out of business a few years ago. One would think that if KitchenAid was using a part that it knew to be faulty it could at least give a discount on parts and/or labor when the part fails. Considering the cost of refrigerators today, its very disappointing that KitchenAid would allow customers to be charged an arm and a leg to replace a sub-par part.

Purchased new refrigerator Oct 2013. One year later it failed - not keeping food cool enough. Parts were replaced. One year later it failed again - same problem but different cause. This time it was a manufacturing defect which, according to the repairman, was well known but we had received no notice. Again, according to the repairman, there had been six updates to the control panel during that year but again, no notice from KitchenAid. Now, two months later, it has failed again. This time it is some sort of internal water leak which was undetected until it ruined about half my kitchen cabinets, the lower adjacent wall and several feet of living room wood floor. Fortunately I have both home insurance which will cover most of the house damage and an extended warranty on the refrigerator which will cover that repair but I am still out a substantial deductible which I intend to be reimbursed by KitchenAid. Further, under no circumstances would I recommend a KitchenAid appliance to anyone. This particular model is a POS and further, KitchenAid does not apparently care what happens to the appliance once it leaves their factory.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator. I could never get the ice maker out. Later found out it was stuck shut. At about 11 months I notices residue on the bottom of my glass after my drink sat. The volume of the powdery substance was quite substantial and noticeable. I really worked on the ice maker and forced it open. There was a pile of white powder inside the ice maker and on the sides of the interior. I cleaned it thoroughly removing all white power and thought the problem was solved. They just forgot to clean it before shipping it. After cleaning it the water/ice was clear. Within 3 months I noticed the white powder was back in my drinks. I cant believe how much of this powder I must have ingested. I called KitchenAid. Sorry you are out of warranty. I suggested they come out and get a sample of this white powder and identify it as harmless or toxic, if not for me then other who may have not noticed it. Sorry your out of warranty. Unlike Emmas microwave which had control panel on the bottom, ours is on the side. I feel KitchenAid cannot successfully design a venting microwave to install over a cooktop. Did you know KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool which includes Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Kitchen Aid... Pretty much all the heavy hitters from the US fall under the Whirlpool umbrella now. Just keep that in mind as read through all of these disappointing posts about quality, service and general safety. I, like many, replaced my entire kitchen with what I believed was the TOP quality KitchenAid appliances. I bought the KEMS308SSS05 which is a Micro/Convection oven combination. Its failed now 5 times since I purchased new in 2012. I am 4 months outside of the 2 year warranty but the first problems (for which theyve never corrected because it continues to happen) started with the first 90 days.I get sometimes there are lemons at ANY company, we are humans and were not perfect, but a company when realizing their faults need to step up and cure the deficiencies. I had a KitchenAid Dishwasher KITCHENAID CLASSIC SERIES KUDC10IXSS installed in February of 2012. I live alone. I run the dishwasher two or three times a week. This unit has failed on me repeatedly. It failed while it was under warranty, then it failed again right after the warranty expired. KitchenAid took care of that repair, but that repair failed again today. This units control system is faulty. I dont know if it is a design or manufacturing issue, all I know is that if you are going to spend your money on a major appliance, KitchenAid is not the brand to spend it on. I doubt I am alone with this problem. I believe a class action lawsuit should be filed against KitchenAid and that purchasers of this product should be provided with a five year parts and labor service plan at no cost.

I purchased a Kitchen Aid two-drawer dishwasher in 2009. This has been the biggest problem appliance I have ever purchased. I am glad I paid for the extended warranty because the techs have been out every 90 days maybe more and they know my address for the same problem that keeps happening. It is the Bizel that are located in the top and bottom drawers, that continue to break... AND when they do if the dishwasher is not monitored, it causes water to leak all over my hardwood floors that are ruining them. The warranty company informed me that if it is not a major component, they will not replace the unit. Obviously, this is a major component as if this component breaks you cannot run the dishwasher?? So, how can Kitchen Aid determine that this is not a major component. This was an expensive dishwasher and also you cannot fit any regular sized plates because they do not fit...so we have to eat off of appetizer plates. I will never buy a Kitchen Aid appliance ever again. Kitchen Aid needs to resolve this problem or I am taking this issue to attorneys that I work for. One really unhappy Kitchen Customer!

Last summer, my KitchenAid Refrigerator (not a year old) stopped working. After two months of repairmen being sent by KitchenAid (A and E Services) and numerous ordering of wrong parts, the refrigerator was repaired (or so I thought). Now this week, the control board does not work. A repairman came, and after two hours, the refrigerator still is not fixed. The required parts are supposed to come and be installed next Saturday. I paid over $2,500.00 for my KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer, and I have been totally dissatisfied with this appliance. I will never buy a KitchenAid product again. The KitchenAid representatives seem to lack any concern for this problem.

Our KitchenAid oven stopped working after we used the self-cleaning feature
Our KitchenAid oven stopped working after we used the self-cleaning feature for the first time last month. When we tried to use the oven to bake again, the oven would not heat up. We purchased our KitchenAid wall oven, model KEBC147VSS00, serial No. XW5000833 in January of 2009. We called KitchenAid customer service concerning the problem with our built-in wall oven. KitchenAid offered to sell us a one year extended warranty on our oven for $300. That would be in addition to the charge we would pay to have the oven repaired this time, which we estimate to be over $200. They did not have an answer to our question, How has the faulty KitchenAid oven part or parts been improved so as to not malfunction again and cause our oven to be inoperable each time we use the self-cleaning feature? We do not want to have a repair done that may not really fix the problem. We called Consumer Reports. They recommended that we call the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). We will file a complaint with CPCS. In our opinion, this oven should be recalled by KitchenAid.

We purchased our Kitchen Aid appliances (French door refrigerator, double oven, range top, vent hood and dish washer) approximately 15 months ago. We have had the repairman out for repair on the iced up ice maker 3 times. The compressor has been changed once. Yesterday, we were told the panel was defective, to the tune of $500 for repair. And no, the warranty is not still in affect, despite having these problems with this fridge before. I am frustrated. Whirlpool, Lowes and the Kitchen Aid repair people are not helpful. It looks as though I may have to replace this appliance and I can guarantee, it wont be with another Kitchen Aid. Please do more research before you purchase these appliances.

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. They are finished with us as we are with them.

Updated on 10/04/2020: When the compressor failed the digital read out display also went. The compressor is covered by 5 year warranty, but not the digital display panel. They failed on the same day?? This is a top of their line unit. (Not cheap). They came out and gave me an estimate of $600 for new digital readout unit. I am at 6 weeks and counting without the fridge and no one can give me a date!Original Review: Appliance was 4 months off first year warranty when compressor failed causing electric control panel to need replacing. Although compressor is covered in second year I was charged for the service call and new control panel (over $600). This was a $2400 bar fridge. I expected better quality and service after purchasing $20,000 in KitchenAid appliances. Not sure this will ever be my brand in the future.

We selected KitchenAid panel ready, so our custom kitchen would have a designer look. Imagine how disappointed we were to learn that this refrigerator IS NOT counter depth!! The sides of the refrigerator stick out a 1/4 of an inch too far, and The sides of the door show. I understood the sides of the door would show, because you would not be able to open the refrigerator if the sides were enclosed. What I did not know or expect was the refrigerator to be black!!! Why would a black refrigerator be made for white panels? Why did my sales person not tell me I was getting a black refrigerator, especially since I was going to be seeing the sights around the door in my all white custom kitchen? EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION: The spec sheets that KitchenAid provides for your designer and cabinet builders is INCORRECT!! At least ours are! You should review yours!! The refrigerator does not measure the same as the spec sheets. This is why the refrigerator sticks out on the sides. I feel KitchenAid needs to be held accountable!

The Inlet and outlet Bezel part replaced at least 8 times. Said it was a manufactures bad design. Inlet and outlet Bezel parts made of plastic, when taps broke, that meant water on the floor. KitchenAid Range Model # YKESA907PB00I bought a KitchenAid electric range in 2006, black in color. First time using it, the paint scraped off the top of the control panel from a pan, exposing the aluminum beneath the pan. I replaced the control panel face plate with a stainless steel on so that this wouldnt become an issue again. A few months later, the off button stopped working on the control panel. Yesterday, I opened the oven door and an error code came up telling me that I need to replace the control panel. This will be the third control panel on this piece of ** in 5 years. How pathetic is that! Appliances are supposed to last 20-30 years, not 5, especially after paying $1800 for it. I now know that the KitchenAid name is nothing but marketing hype. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid appliance and strongly urge others to do the same.

I bought the Kitchenaid KDTE404 (architect series) dishwasher for $900 and had it installed by company who sold it to me. The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, but installer/company repaired it within a week. The rack system is crap. Has plastic inserts with ball bearing. Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. Salesman assured me that this was a wonderful stove, etc., etc. so I was suckered into buying it. Soon after the purchase, I used the oven... and SURPRISE - the stainless-looking knobs heated so much that I couldnt touch them! Customer service told me that this is normal and even professional chefs have to use oven mitts on certain stoves. (Can you believe that!?) After several calls, I finally got a rep. who sent me black knobs that are made of more heat resistant material. (I wasnt charged for them, so that tells you that they wanted to keep me quiet). That should have clued me in on this product. After approx. 2 months, one of the circuits went out and had to be replaced. My biggest complaint now is the dirty inner glass of the oven door. I called customer service and was told that since the appliance is more than a year old, and out of warranty, they will have to charge me a service call for their technician to clean it. The woman told me that this is common for this particular range!! (Again, can you believe it!??) I told her that this is a design flaw and there should be a complete seal to prevent this. She disagreed, saying its been like this for over 17 years!! NEVER BUY A KITCHENAID! Read reviews and take them seriously... I wish I had!

Unfortunately we have several KitchenAid appliances that came with our new house. They are all crap. In our previous house, we had a Samsung refrigerator (which cost a lot less than the KitchenAid) that was well made and worked perfectly. Even though we have a luxury KitchenAid model, the drawers dont fit, the ice maker freezes up regularly and the whole unit just feels cheap. Even our builder does not use KitchenAid anymore. In addition, because they are so poorly made, the company cannot afford to (or chooses not to) fix real issues when they occur. Avoid KitchenAid at all costs.

I purchased, unfortunately, the complete upper end Kitchenaid appliance for our kitchen 5 years ago from Home Depot and with the extended warranty with Asurion. Within 2 years the dishwasher had many problems that required several repairs: new computer board, new pump, new door, new seals, new wash arms and more. The self clean for the oven never works at all and never fixed. The microwave often refuse to work at all and must unplug and wait 15 or more minutes to work and never fixed. The worse... the $3500 French door refrigerator freezer has died 4 times. Needs new defective wire system that the fix damaged interior parts that were never covered or fixed. Next the freezer fans died. Next the ice maker stopped making ice...still waiting for that fix. And now the water will not flow as well. And each time we must shut it down and lose lots of food. Asurion coverage is slow and limited and uses distant repair companies that break things and never follow through for many weeks. Do not buy their coverage. Home Depot never back these awful appliance either. And Kitchenaid simply does not care and says sorry its is not their problem. Worse appliance I ever had in over 50 years. Avoid at all costs.

We have already had it repaired once because it would not heat correctly, of course, not under warranty! Now, like many others, we get an F2 locked message and have to unplug it or the microwave runs by itself. What a terrible product. We purchased a brand new home in November of 2012 and ever since day one of operating our KitchenAid oven Model # KEBS109BSS00, we have had this awful metal on metal rattling noise. After contacting KitchenAid warranty repair department, they have sent Three different companies out over 18 visits to repair the issue. We have been informed that there are only two moving parts to the oven and both parts have been replaced TWICE. Also, we have had new extra insulation kits and exterior panels replaced, tightened, loosened, and so on and so on... to no avail. The oven still makes the awful noise through all three operating cycles. Kitchen Aid has been horrible with helping us repair this oven. They claim that some of the visits will not count because the tech that came out for the repair did not log a claim attached with the serial number of the unit. So we basically wasted half a day and and still have a broken oven. I will NEVER buy a kitchen aid oven again, cheap product and terrible customer service. Even the technicians they send out are saying that there is nothing more that can be done and they need to replace the unit but to be prepared that Kitchen Aid will fight us on that but 18 visits at $144 a pop they have already spent more than the oven is worth.

Now the latch keeps the door from closing all the way and then the oven will not heat up properly. The one customer service girl asked me if we unplugged the oven and I said no then she proceeded to tell me I had to pay $150 for the service guy to come and look at it. When I asked her why she wanted to know if I had unplugged the oven, she told me, “Well, that resets the computer”. Why wouldnt you tell me to try that first?! Because that worked! Our KitchenAid built-in electric/convection oven started a fire and burnt a turkey to a crisp because I made the oh-so-unthinkable mistake of basting it during cooking. The repairman came out and said its normal for the broiler to come on during the cooking cycle if the oven temperature falls, but I cant see how any appliance manufacturer can think this is a good idea. Aside from the fact that this feature makes conventional roasting and other types of cooking impossible, more critically, it represents a serious design flaw that makes the oven a fire hazard. I have contacted the CEO of Whirlpool about this hazard but I do not expect any satisfaction given the response KitchenAid had when a cheap relay on our 13-month-old refrigerator failed causing the temperature to rise and all the food within to spoil. They simply told us that since the fridge was one month past the warranty, it wasnt their problem. How can they justify making appliances that have the potential to harm people?

Like many other posts here, I purchased my model KUDK03CTSS3 in June 2009. And like the others, the top drawer does not get the dishes clean; there is a film and dried food that makes it more difficult to clean after the cycle.Additionally, there are rust spots all along the front panel of the unit. Customer service recommended a rust cleaner, though they admitted it wouldnt completely remove the rust(?) but would prevent further rusting. Ummm, What? How about replacing the front panel, because it shouldnt rust no matter what. They told me it was due to the steam coming from the top/front of the unit during the cycle. Was this something no one thought of when designing and manufacturing the thing? No one figured out a dishwasher would create steam, so the front panel should be steam-resistant?Also, they recommended affresh tablets to clean the unit inside. I already tried the vinegar wash; I dont expect these magical tablets to make any difference whatsoever. At the time of purchase, the money I spent was hard-earned, and I thought I had done appropriate research and due diligence. Almost three years later, in this economy, I cant even justify the cost of a service call, so Im handwashing my dishes.Do not purchase KitchenAid; you will be sorry.

We went with the KitchenAid suite of appliances because we liked the reviews we read about the dual fuel double oven range (KDRS505X). I like my oven a lot....except the cooking surface scratches so easily! How am I ever going to clean around the burners when it seems the surface scratches when barely touched. Our microwave hood (KHMS2040) had turned out to be a terrible choice. The vent fan is horribly loud. Service came out to look at it about 3 weeks ago and determined we needed a new motor. (That wont come for another 3 weeks). This past weekend, the fan AND microwave suddenly turned on by itself. The microwave light came on and the turntable started turning. And it was louder than ever. We couldnt turn it off by pushing the cancel button or the fan button. Finally had to unplug it. Now we are afraid to leave it plugged in. What if it turned on by itself and we werent home? Scary.

I want compensation for my problem with dishwasher. The inconvenience and frustration of having an appliance that I can not trust. KitchenAids answer is to buy an extended warranty. How is that going to help when I never know if the dishwasher will work from day to day? They have replaced two door switches under warranty and I am out of warranty and I have the problem again. Am I to live with this every year two or more repairs for the same problem? My repairman is ordering another door switch. His opinion is they have a problem with it and it will be an on going problem. They need to redesign the door switch and give us all some relief. Not make us pay for extended warranties. That doesnt make sense. Why should consumers purchase high end appliances and pay to keep them running? My mother-in-law, like many people of her generation, swore by the quality
My mother-in-law, like many people of her generation, swore by the quality of KitchenAid dishwashers. We have always bought them until now. Reading the complaints on the internet it is apparent that these dishwashers were once of high quality, but that this is no longer so. We bought one a little over a year ago to replace a 20 year old trouble free model (without doing any research). As predicted by the complaints on the internet, the top shelf failed within a year. We have had several service calls for other reasons and today we decided to simply pull out the KitchenAid, throw it away, and install a Miele (without great hopes). So, why has KitchenAid become so bad. The first thing to note is that Whirlpool now owns Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and many other brands due to a purchase in 2008. They are all one company and, in a published peer-reviewed study (you can find it at the National Bureau of Economic Research website), it has been established that prices for dishwashers made by this mega-company increased and the number of models declined. In other words, Whirlpool has virtually no domestic competitors. Your only choice is foreign or domestic. Get used to it. The practical effect is that prices for dishwashers of the same quality have actually increased more than the above study indicates. It is a sad comment on an old American brand.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher came with our new house and it is indeed very quiet and does a good job washing dishes. The third rack is great improvement over the door-mounted utensil rack in our old Whirlpool (same company). However after two years st started blowing the circuit breaker and a second technician said it was a bad control board. These are back ordered 3-4 weeks. It has been down for a month and probably another month or more before it gets repaired. KitchenAid ought to keep a stock of parts that are failing on their products. It was the same problem getting the microwave fixed 6 months ago.

We spent $665.11 on a microwave that lasted 1 year and 2 months. As is does not fall into their 1 year warranty, they refuse to help or compensate in any way. We had the same issue with a $900 dishwasher we purchased from KitchenAid a couple of years ago. BOTH appliances stopped working after exactly 1 year! It would seem that they are in the business of manufacturing CHEAP China appliances that break shortly after their warranty so you must purchase another one.Customer service is no help at all. They just read from a script repeating the same sentence over and over again. Other companies like Black & Decker and GE have much better customer service and ability to help customers when their products do not work. Would shop from them instead! We did a kitchen remodel less than a year ago with a kitchen refrigerator side by side with ice & water dispenser model KFIS20XVMSII. This refrigerator is a disaster, the temperature for the freezer and refrigerator side has risen to 40 degrees F and 61 degrees F. Pressing the reset button to the suggested temp of 0 degrees and 35 degrees is not working. I came home from work and had to tossed all the food inside into the garbage. I am so disappointed and will be on the phone 1st thing in the morning with KitchenAid. I wished I had read the reviews about this model, it is a common problem. Buyers beware.

KitchenAid electric range # KERS807SSS00. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid! They don’t deserve a star! Because They sold out to Whirlpool to avoid covering their poorly built products that should’ve had been recalled or, came up with a seal to prevent control board burnout! This is my second spillover and the dash control panel is burned out again. At least the range does work because it’s independent from the oven, you do need the control panel to operate the oven. I called KA which is Whirlpool now. Whirlpool, simply have a way of not covering any warranties on KA. They always have an excuse. Or, there’s no record of a complaint by me or by anyone else on this issue!I find that hard to believe because I had a spillover and I called and complained to KA within two months of purchase about the faulty glass top (No Seal) to prevent spillovers from the glass top to the bottom of where the control board burned out. Which they did cover because it was during the warranty period. And their excuse was, “Didn’t you read the manual?” Well No Maam! I didn’t! This is the third one in my family, and there’s been spillovers and nothing was blown out!! I should have realized. They had General Electric ranges. At the cost of $ 480.00 plus labor for the part. We will rather buy a new range other than KA or Whirlpool or any other products made by them!! In the meantime, I’ll be grilling out on the grill ☀️????

We have a KitchenAid KHMC1857WSS--0. We purchased it on 1-29-10; it was delivered on 2-14-10. It first quit working last 12-29-10. I was using the Convect Roast, auto mode, pizza, when it went out very near the end of the cook time; about 15 minutes into the cycle, it blew the fuse. We called and they scheduled service for 1-3-11. They replaced the fuse and said it worked. On 1-18-11, it broke down again in the same mode. Service was scheduled for 1-20-11. They replaced the fuse and some other part, and they offered to extend the service warranty for one year. Good thing, cause it broke again and was serviced on 2-3-11. I asked for a replacement microwave; they dont want to do it, saying that it is more than a year old and is not covered. It broke again and was serviced on 3-7-11. After much complaining, they agree to offer us a microwave replacement for $300. The new microwave was installed on 3-30-11. For some reason, I thought this would fix our problem. But we have the exact same problem on our new microwave. It was first serviced on 10-5-11. They came back on the 13th to put in the new parts, and the service man declared it fixed. I ask that he run it in the pizza mode before he leaves. Guess what, it blows the fuse again. He called it in, and they want to put in another new part.I am fed up. I want a microwave that works. I paid about $1000 for a new one and then paid $300 for a replacement, and I still have junk. The only offer from KA is to continue to service it. I want my money back for the replacement and a microwave that works for more than a month without breaking. KitchenAid will not stand behind their product and has done nothing but steal money from me.

Bought my KitchenAid dishwasher just over two years ago. Last week ago the top rack crashed down into the bottom rack. They were both full of dishes, lots of broken glass. Long story short, glass bits ended up in the motor costing me nearly 400 dollars to replace. The good news is that after I told the phone rep that I had owned only KitchenAid dishwashers for nearly 30 years and was disappointed in how this one had failed, she got them to mail me a set of adjusters for free. If only she had gotten an authorization for the repairman to install a set, he could have taken care of the problem while he was here. I am still waiting for the adjusters to arrive in the mail, then I have to install them. Whirlpool should just admit they screwed up and take care of this problem.

I, like all the others had the same issue with the water leak. Purchased the extended warranty (thank God), had the service company out, they removed the rubber stopper and we were done, SO I THOUGHT. Have had 2 other repair companies out due to the rising temp, frost, food freezing in the refrigeration area, and the compressor running for periods of up to 4 hours continuously. Was told there was a part that should have been put in when the Rubber Stopper was removed. O.K., replaced that part, problem fixed... NO, and told that it is normal for the Compressor to run up to 80% of the day! Have called Lowes yet again due to the compressor running all day, and an electric bill that has jumped from an average of 125.00 to over 200.00 due to this refrigerator. Keep being told by Lowes that they will submit to their Review Board for replacement, but doubt that anything will come of that. I should have listened to my sister, and stayed away from KitchenAid appliances, when she told me 10 years ago that they were junk. With Black Friday coming, ADVICE, run away from this brand as fast as you can!

We decided to invest in a good dishwasher that we could rely on. We spent over $1300 on model #KUDE48FXBL2. It never really worked quite right. There would be periods when the keypad would not work. After roughly one year of use, it has died. The repair service quickly determined that it needed a new keypad and some sort of electrical part in the door. KitchenAid does not have the parts and does not know when they will be available. I am hand washing all of my dishes while a $1300 dishwasher sits in my kitchen with an out of order sign on it. There is no end in sight and we get no answers. We are trying to decide if we throw it out (and the $1300 we spent) or wait to see when it can be repaired (and how much it will cost). We spent a lot of money on a dishwasher that only gave us about one year of use. We will not buy an appliance from KitchenAid or any of their affiliated companies again.

I purchased a new Kitchenaid dishwasher from Sears in November of 2010. After paying a hefty price, over $700.00, it has now broken down completely after only eight months. First, the sliding drawer cracked, really? After all it is made for dishes and now the entire control panel is fried. I am so disgusted mainly with this problem and being that I must have a repairman come only on hours that are very inconvenient. After taking three days off, there was another issue today, and now I have to try to get someone to come tomorrow since I have taken enough time off from something that is not even a year old. I would like to know if there is a lemon law about these types of problems. It doesnt appear that I will have this appliance for long.

I had to keep it unplugged when not in use. Then it got so I couldnt turn it on. After four repair sessions (thank God I had protection plan), they replaced it. My biggest mistake was getting the same oven!! How could I have been so stupid. Less than a month after getting it, the oven timer would try to go on and it would keep beeping. Then when I tried to start baking temp, it would only go to 6 degrees and I couldnt push any other buttons. The thing is a piece of crap. We purchased the top of the line in the KitchenAid dishwasher - KUDS301VBL3. This was the second KitchenAid dishwasher that I had owned. The first one I purchased was a workhorse. No problems, just got old and wasnt worth fixing. So I updated my kitchen and bought the new top of the line model. I am now waiting for a repairman to show up to fix the door that keeps breaking. This is the second time. There is something in the door that keeps slipping off and causes the door to slam down hard when it opened. I have a 16-month-old granddaughter who could easily pull on the door and suffer an injury if this door fell on her. I have called KitchenAid and left messages and so far have not been contacted by anyone. I had no idea that the quality of the KitchenAid appliances had hit such a low standard. This is the second time that this door thing has happened, so there must be a problem and KitchenAid needs to take responsibility and fix it before they have a lawsuit on their hands where a child has gotten hurt by this door malfunction. I am going to complain to all the consumer and product safety organizations that I can find on the internet.

Dont burn down your house, I survived 9/11 today. The under counter dishwasher (KUDPO1ILBS0) KitchenAid had a few seal problems 5 years ago. Last night, I heard a loud noise in the kitchen at 1:30AM (Sept. 11, 2012) while the whole family was sleeping. I got up and waited 1-2 minutes to compose myself and then noticed light rubber burning smell in my bedroom. I walked down the stair to the kitchen and felt stronger smell of electrical wire burning. I turned the light on and noticed that the dishwasher passing out steam after complete cycle and also white smoke from the front panel where buttons are situated. I tried to open the dishwasher while placing hand on the electronic panel as usual, when I heard sparks and more intense smoke. I ran to the basement and turned the switch from the main electrical panel and noticed smoke diminishing, but smelled very intense. When steam and smoke stopped and I felt safe, I took the dishes out which were clean and well dry as usual. The whole family was down by this time due to the commotion and ready to call 911 and exit to pre-plan spot. I noticed that it was only front panel smoke and now no sign of fire or smoke. I asked everyone to go back to bed and watched TV until 3:00AM on guard. I later went to bed and in the morning, the family decided to replace our 10-year old dishwasher.

The refrigerator was a major purchase but to need to call out for repairs again is unbelievable.

Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

I installed a new Kitchen Aid stove in May, 2010. The ovens preheat and self-cleaning features have not been working correctly since I first used the self-cleaning for the first time. I am 85 years old and gave up a perfectly good older GE stove because I could no longer reach the controls on the rear panel and bought this new Kitchen Aid because it has the controls conveniently on the front panel. It was a very bad decision. This is a very expensive junk. If you are considering buying a Kitchen Aid stove, dont do it. I am very unhappy with mine. I recommend you find a good used American-made made product and have it reconditioned by a qualified appliance repair person. I cannot afford this kind of ** product. I dont know where to begin. There are SO MANY design flaws on this stove. The stove top burners look fine but you cannot fit more than two pots on it at a time (unless you are using very small pots). The back two burners are so small and inefficient they can really just be used for warming. The broiler consists of a single tube that runs front to back so the middle of whatever is cooking burns while the sides arent browned. The bottom rack of the top oven is so close to the bottom that food scorches on the bottom as well as your hand.I bought this stove 2 yrs ago and had continual problems with fluctuating oven temps (Used a conventional thermometer to check). The thermostat was replaced. A couple of weeks later, the computer board was replaced. Still didnt work. Quoted the lemon law policy and the stove was replaced. The oven then worked although I am stuck with the design flaws. Now the oven temp is becoming erratic again. I did buy the extended warranty but am anticipating an ordeal. P.S. I have never used the cleaning feature because I read consumers reviews.

In May of 2017 my husband and I moved in to our newly built home. We purchased KitchenAid appliances. A dishwasher, a refrigerator and a stove. Shortly after they arrived I noticed that there were dents in the freezer door. They came to replace it. Then we noticed rust forming on the outside of the refrigerator. We had someone come and check it out. He told me to polish it more. That didnt change it in anyway. He came back out and said they will replace the doors. They ordered new ones. In the interim the new freezer door was getting rust on it. Then the compressor and the thermostat went out. They came to fix that problem. Now we are getting new doors and then they need to replace the freezer door. Now after all of this, the dishwasher is rusting. Our KitchenAid appliances have only been in our house for 4 and half months. I called the company, I called the place where we purchased them to replace them to no avail. We need help. KitchenAid refrigerator model #KRFF507ESS01 defrost problems - Since purchasing the refrigerator I have had to have it defrosted four times. Every three to four months the fridge gets warm and the coils, fan and other components in the fridge get completely covered in a block of ice. Two service calls were made while the fridge was under warranty. The technician that came replaced a thermostat, but also said that he didn’t feel it would fix the problem and that it would happen again. In fact, it has happened twice since. KitchenAid refuses to do anything about this. My background is in engineering and product development and I must say that the design of this fridge is suspect. The use of a very low quality fan, no defrosting heater and some very cheap packing Styrofoam as part of the air routing system is very suspect in my opinion. It does not appear to be properly engineered. We are also experiencing some cosmetic degradation at the front of the water / ice serving area. We called on this also and KitchenAid sent us a replacement piece, which has already started to degrade since it was replaced. We purchased this refrigerator along with a gas stove top, convection microwave, oven, dishwasher and trash compactor. This was almost $11,000 in products from KitchenAid. We are very unhappy with the refrigerator since it will likely require regular defrosting for the rest of its life. The fridge is out of warranty, but this problem happened while in warranty and is in your records. We would very much a response from KitchenAid that include either fixing the problem once and for all or a replacement of the refrigerator with one that has the problem solved. It is not acceptable to sell a product like this.

Did not offer any kind of warranty at that time and per conversation with KitchenAid today, they should have. Now its too late since I have already had a service man here and agreed to service with him.The service man told me both door closure cams were worn and that this was very unusual. He said this type of problem does not happen until the refrigerator is 10 to 12 years old. Also said that its usually bad on one door or the other and in my case, both doors are equally bad. It is going to cost me $280 for the repair. I called KitchenAid to register a complaint with their company and see if there is anything they could do to help out with the repair.
