I absolutely hate this washing machine. When I bought it a couple of years ago I thought it would be great for large items... NOT! It leaves white residue on dark colors but the MOST important issue is going off balance. The lid stays locked and you have to start the cycle from the beginning... What a waste!!! Never again will I get a Whirlpool.

My comments are similar to all the other comments on here regarding the Whirlpool Cabrio washer: I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio 5 years ago and have been sorry every wash day since. I have to wash my clothes twice because the machine doesnt fill the tub with enough water to get the clothes clean. I have tried using the bulky setting for all loads to try to get the water level high enough to at least cover the clothes. This is a terrible design and the worst piece of junk. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again...

I bought a whirlpool Washer in 2011 which I bought an extended warranty. Thank Goodness! It has broken every year. At first I was ok since they always fixed it. It is very inefficient and the clothes are not clean. But today I am so ticked. It broke in Sept. and they have come out twice and cant fix it. Now they say it will be Dec. before they can fix it as part is backordered. REALLY!!! Im expected to not have a washer from Sept. to Dec. with no compensation! I have called both Whirlpool and the warranty company and they say thats just the way it is. I WILL NEVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL AGAIN. The warranty service is through Federal Warranty Service.

In August of 2008 I purchased a Whirlpool Amana refrigerator, Model# ABR2227FES. It worked great for exactly 6 years. In Aug of 2014, the motherboard needed to be replaced as it was not forcing a defrost when needed. I tried to get a refund on the cost of the part and labour but both were refused. In Dec 2016, just two and half years after the motherboard was replaced, the exact same problem re-occurred. Again I tried to get a refund on the cost of the part and labour but both were refused. Will I be buying this refrigerator in the future? A definite no!!!

My Whirlpool range is a great buy and it cooks well. I have never had a brand new range that snaps, crackles, and pops. It was letting me know that it needed to be broken in and used for a while. I have had it for a few years now and it is just now getting broken in well. I do not even smell the brand new burn smell it use to give off anymore. Awesome!!

Purchased on 9/12 at Home Depot. Ice maker paid for as stated in ad for home depot, did not come with fridge. Tech needed for warm food, had to repair gasket. Tech needed for cracked handle. 6 calls for freezing food in fridge compartment. No resolve. Whirlpool wanted a 2nd opinion and another tech came deeming the fridge unrepairable. Not good enough for Whirlpool. After speaking to several customer service agents, they said they do not refund or replace, only repair. I have lost hundreds of dollars of food from freezing. My fridge is reading at 31 deg. This is way below what it is supposed to read at. No call from Whirlpool since last tech came. Their customer service is terrible and cold. Whirlpool Corp. was not any help either. You can see the problem with this model if you look up Whirlpool fridge freezing food in Florida, as a woman there called ABC news and they reported it. I will also do the same.

I have had my stove for 3 years and it works fine. However since I have become a grandparent, I have been extremely worried about the chance of being burnt. the problem is once you turn off the burner, it doesnt look any different than it does when not in use. It stays hot for a very long time however. Hot enough to burn or melt anything. There is no blocking a child from reaching up and touching it. I have placed a loaf of bread near it only to have it melt down the side. The burner didnt look hot at all. This was at least 15 min. after turning off the burner. Im not trying to cause issues but I believe this is a real danger, not only at the risk of someone getting a burn but also to the point of an entire family losing their home or even their lives. A simple flammable item being knocked over could start a fire. I ask that someone look into these risk.

I am waiting for the third repair on my front-load washer. I purchased them
I am waiting for the third repair on my front-load washer. I purchased them a year ago and was very satisfied with the ease of use. But in April of this year, the E2F3 started flashing up after I put in a load of clothes. I called the repair line and they sent a guy to check it. Determining it was a sensor, I waited three days for the repair. Then, almost two months later, now, it did this again. He called WP and they said to replace the sensor again. I waited two days for the repair. Before he left, he started the washer to run through the cycle - no problem. I then put in a small load of clothes, and almost immediately, the washer stopped and the E2F3 was flashing again. I called for a repair, and am again waiting (without a washer) for the repairman to come back on Tuesday!!!Today is Friday. I have been four weeks almost without a washer this year. Thats also the $20 I have spent this last week to wash clothes at the laundromat, not to mention the frustration of waiting for the warranty line to pick up and the hassle of having someone here when the repairman comes. I am glad I purchased an extended warranty for this product, but Whirlpool should make their products to last!

I currently rent, and so when our literally 30-yr. old GE dishwasher broke down, our landlords went out and installed us a new Whirlpool Dishwasher. I was excited because FINALLY I would have clean dishes and a dishwasher that didnt leak a bucket of water all over the floor. Well, weve had it for about 6-8 months now and I have to say that I am not impressed. It is not as great as I thought itd be. First of all, my dishes still look cloudy (despite using various brands - even homemade - detergent). Second, one out of every three washes gives me still-dirty dishes (food still on them, even though I rinse before loading the dishes). Now, Im not talking about tough stuck-on, need a jack-hammer to remove food. Just normal food. Mostly it is oil, like if I had a plate that I had eaten French fries on and there was grease left behind that normal rinsing didnt remove. A new dishwasher SHOULD be able to clean that! Third, it guzzles Jet Dry liquid (or whatever rinse aid you use) like an alcoholic in a bar. I have used a BIG bottle in one month. One month. With the old 30 yr. old dishwasher, it took me around 2 YEARS to use a big bottle. And lastly, it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R to wash a load. My old dishwasher took an hour tops - to rinse, wash, rinse, and dry - and it was 30 years old. This new Whirlpool takes 3 HOURS!!! I can literally hand-wash all of my dishes (and with a family of 4 thats a lot of dirty dishes in one day), sit them out to air dry, and take a nap and it take LESS TIME than using the dishwasher. The dishwasher has all the bells and whistles to make it look good, but trust me, if I could have had the 30-year old dishwasher rebuilt to newness, I would have begged my landlord to do that instead. Dont waste your money on Whirlpool appliances. I left another less than friendly review for my Whirlpool Cabrio washer (only 5 years old), if you care to see it. Learned my lesson, dont buy Whirlpool. So disappointed because they used to be (USED TO BE) a reputable dependable brand.

The appliances in my home range from a Kitchen Aid double wall oven, a DCS single wall oven (I have 2 Kitchens), 2 Kenmore dishwashers, a Fisher and Paykel refrigerator and 2 DCS counter-top stoves (all top of the line). No problems they are great appliances. On Dec.22, I bought a Whirlpool Duet. For 6 months, constant repairs and rebuilds were needed; new computer panels, pumps and new drums. They cant fix it. We have tried everything to get the Whirlpool Factory to fix it or replace it. So far, I have spent twice the original cost to fix the machine (but to no avail) and now you want me to spend another $500-$600 to try to fix it again? No more!

Just purchased Whirlpool top load large capacity washing machine with no agitator at Lowe’s three months ago. I sit at the kitchen table in my freshly washed exercise clothes and smell body odor. There were six exercise items in the load and supposedly enough soap. The load washed for 45 minutes last evening. Yard work clothes washed yesterday are not clean. I had to remove grass from the bottom of the tub. When I iron my smocks for work, since I work with animals, I pick pet hair off of them as I iron. Judging from other reviews, this torture won’t last long, before I need to replace this piece of junk. My last washer lasted 20 years. If it didnt leak water, it would still be running. Thanks Whirlpool, I guess the joke is on me!

I purchased a Whirlpool® 4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with Load & Go
I purchased a Whirlpool® 4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with Load & Go Dispenser in 2017. By August of 2020 the washing machine was no longer working. The machine would continue to fill with water and not shut off. The machine would then give an error of E01 and F03 and drain all water within 5 minutes of the wash load starting. I had a certified Whirlpool technician come and diagnose the problem for $99. The technician said these error codes happen ALL THE TIME on Whirlpool washers. The technician tried to replace the water pressure switch with no success. He then spoke to a corporate office and was told we would have to replace the motherboard for over $500. The total cost for the diagnosis and repair was almost the exact price I paid for a new washer just 3 years earlier. I will NEVER purchase any Whirlpool appliance ever again.

In addition to that I find the HE rating a joke as it takes 2+ hours to run a load of whites despite it saying on the read out that it will be 1 hour and 4 minutes, it literally tears up my clothes. I have now gone through 3 sets of sheets, 4 towels, 5 baby onesies... How can a washer that doesnt have an agitator cause holes and shredding in a garment? I honestly dont know what to do anymore. It takes two days to do the wash for 2 people when I could get it done in hours with my old machine. And to think I spent close to $900 on this washer makes me sick! I want to go back to my old agitator type washer from Maytag!

We purchased the pair a year ago and its been nothing but headaches. First of all, half the clothes dont even get wet. They say its high efficiency but I dont think theres any efficiency when it doesnt even wash them. Second, when it actually does wash them, it leaves detergent all over the clothes. Imagine your black dress pants with white bleach like streaks all over them. We called because we were under warranty and a repair man came out. Totally useless. He said because its high efficiency, its supposed to do that. Not clean my clothes?? Why would I have purchased a WASHING machine that doesnt clean clothes?? Is there some other use for it Im unaware of?? He told us to try using deep water setting and extra rinse. So now we can wash 3 pair of socks at a time instead of one. Yippee.Do NOT BUY THIS CABRIO WASHER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Youd be better off with a plastic bucket from the dollar store. If you get it as a gift, the person who bought it for you may secretly hate you. I wish wed had the benefit of these reviews. Now were out $1500. Will NEVER, EVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT AGAIN. Not only does it not work, they refuse to recall it or refund it. Off to the laundromat to WASH my clothes.

I would never recommend Whirlpool again. I have used Whirlpool products since 1970 and always had good appliances. Your new products are worthless and you are spending more money on legal protection and lobbying than making a worthy product that actually cleans clothes and cools food. This thing absolutely is total junk. It doesnt clean at all. I have to wash my sons sweaty uniform 3 times because the first two wash didnt clean it. A tub and washboard cleans better than this unit. A 600+ washer should clean the basic stuff. I remove clothes after it was finished and some of the clothes have dry spots where the water couldnt make it to. What kind of washer leaves clothes dry?I wish I came across this site when I was at the store. I did a search and the manufacture website and retail gave it positive reviews. I pretty sure the Whirlpool is paying people to write positive reviews. Technicians have come and gone telling me that there isnt anything wrong with it. That their diagnostic isnt detecting anything. Well when I call them again I will have the tech wait while I wash my sons sweaty uniform and then they can smell it after it goes through the wash. Im going call out a service tech until it works as advertise or they replace it. If I have to call them out once a week. That is what I will do.

My French door refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling while under a 5 year warranty. I am a single mom working at a non-profit agency and I had to take 4 DAYS off of work to accommodate the repairman. Finally the repairman notified Whirlpool it could not be fixed and I was told by Whirlpool that it would be replaced under the warranty and I should wait for a call back, which never came. I called back after a few days to speak with the Exchange department and Mindy told me that I had to pay $1600 to get the exchange! When I asked to have the call escalated she flatly refused! I purchased a Cabrio top-loading high efficiency low water washer thinking
I purchased a Cabrio top-loading high efficiency low water washer thinking I was doing something for the environment by saving on water and electricity. After about a month, I noticed that my clothes especially those with stretchable fabric were getting larger. My husband kept telling me I was imagining it. Then the clothes would get all tangled especially the pants with ties on the waistband. At the end of the cycle, the clothes are stuck on the sides of the washer and I have to pull them apart. Even after drying, I have to iron everything even my pillowcases which look like they have shrunk they are so wrinkled. I recently bought some 100% cotton outfits and they are even more wrinkled and are starting to lose their shape. I am now noticing that the stains on the clothing are not coming out even when I use a spot remover and put them through a second time. Now I started to notice an odor coming from the machine and my towels and wash clothes have a sour smell. I paid $600 for this machine and after reading the reviews, I just want to replace it. I am now waiting for it to break down. My husband kept insisting I must be doing something wrong. When it goes into the spin cycle, it bounces all around and I have to push it back in place when it is done. I do not think the clothes are getting rinsed enough so now I put them through a second rinse and always put it on low spin. It doesnt see to matter, it sounds like a rocket ready to take off. Is it even worth it to go back to Lowes where I buy all my appliances?

Weve been in this house for almost 4 years so the dishwasher (Whirlpool WDT790SAYM) is no older than that, maybe even 2.5 since I think I got it home in my CX-5 which is 2.5 years old. Anyway, never really had a problem with it and we run ours maybe once a day or twice in a row every 3 days. Last night I remember running a load and this morning noticed the dishes were dirty but the inside of the tub looked clean. So I plop another pod in and tried to run it again and sat there and watched it. It filled up with water but then nothing. After 20 minutes I opened the door and steam came out so the heater element was working and there was water at the bottom. I tried various things but nothing. Canceling still works. So either I try to get this fixed, or buy a new one. This wasnt a cheap dishwasher either. My wife balked when I 1st bought it considering she thinks a $300 model is better than most of these $500+ models. Right now I cant argue with her since we just replaced an expensive Samsung washing machine that lasted maybe 5 years. Theres another review of this model on these forums and the person tried to get it repaired many times and it appears maybe the same thing is happening to us. I wont go down that road considering repairs like that exceed the cost of a new dishwasher.

We have had the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer for 4 years now. Let me start off by saying the first 6 months was wonderful. Then after that, the machines were breaking down every time we turned around at the worst times. With 2 adults and 4 children, you see my point. We have had a repairman at our house to fix these machines 6 times and now, we are getting a code on our washer that is F1. Looking up codes online shows to be the computer system of the machine and a $400-$600 repair, might I add. Please save your money and buy a better and more dependable set than Whirlpool. It was on sale and the price was good for comparable refrigerators. The biggest problem is that instead of a simple dial to control temperature, you have to be a computer genius to figure out how to turn it to a different temp. even by the instructions. And the ice maker throws ice all over the floor even if you hold the glass up against the top. When I first got it, it made a very loud noise when it run, but that changed with time to a bearable volume. Everything seems to work well other than those few little things.

I bought all my kitchen appliances in Home Depot 4 months ago (April 2014). The wall oven, Whirlpool, never worked. Flamingo Appliances is the name of the company that does services for Whirlpool in my city. They keep changing parts and today is the 3rd visit that the technician will be in my house trying to solve the problem. Customer service in Michigan is DISGUSTING! I probably have to buy another oven because they say they wont replace it if they think its fixable. 3 MONTHS! I will never buy Whirlpool again. I hate them.

Everyone has been impressed with how quiet my Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher was and how clean the dishes came out, but that didnt last but 3 short years. In the life of a dishwasher, 3 years should be less than a third of the life expediency. I purchased a 3 year protection plan from Sears only to find out that it included the year you get the new appliance, so it just added 2 years. Just my luck. I have bragged and bragged and bragged on this dishwasher because it was quiet and cleaned so well, but now I know that was premature because it should have last much longer. I sure didnt get my moneys worth.

I would give no stars for this piece of junk, Whirlpools energy efficient top load washer. I called 1 day after their warranty was up. It was actually purchased on Oct. 9th, 2010. The machine was leaving spots on my clothes from day one (was told it was my detergent)! The machine started making strange noises and not cleaning clothes. It was coming out worse than they went in the machine! I called on Oct. 10th, 2011 to complain. They told me my warranty was up! I had to pay $234.83 to order F7E1 activator and pay repair. The repairman told me that my machine was not delivered until Oct. 14th, 2010. It should have been covered on warranty!

Once again I am disappointed in a product that I felt was of the utmost quality. However after buying in 2010 and not being installed until 2011, the over the oven microwave has a crack on the outside of the door. Two pieces have fallen off from under the plastic rim on the inside of the door, two pieces of the door one on the top right side and the other on the bottom right side have fallen off. All I have to say is the two Whirlpool products I bought at Lowes has been a huge disappointment especially since the other two bought from the same stores are Frigidaires and work beautifully...

I purchased Whirlpool 6.2ct electric range on 3/16/2013 from Lowes, Fremont
I purchased Whirlpool 6.2ct electric range on 3/16/2013 from Lowes, Fremont, CA. I tried to bake my cake on 11/19/2013, and preheat it to 400F degree. When the temperature achieved to 400 degree, I put my cake in not even 5 minutes and go to dining room to pick up something. When I turn around, I saw the oven window is so bright and I open the door right away, it has fire from the left side bottom. I turn off the power right away but still has big fire. So I use the fire extinguisher to get the fire off.I went to Lowes to complain, this product is still under the manufacture warranty and I also purchased two years extended warranty from the store. Lowes sent the 3rd party technician over to check, they open the bottom element and insist I drop something to catch on fire. He tried 350F degree is working. But the fact is, theres nothing dropped, no oil, water or and any ingredients, only fire extinguisher powder all over the bottom. Technician put back the cover, I asked him, How do I clean up the bottom extinguisher mess? He said, You dont need to, just clean the top, and wont try 400F degree for me since the top didnt clean up. I asked him, I am so fear to use it now, you asked me to clean it up and try again. I only use my oven to bake cakes, cookies, and muffins, and that day the cake even not still raise yet. How could it catch on fire? Is this product defective? I doubt it.I also called Whirlpool, they said most likely its short circuit. They only provide the repair, unless it cant be repaired, then they replace it. Manufacturer also told me that my temperature is high. I dont think so. I have no problem to use any oven in 425-450 in the past. If this is high, why your stove has function to that high degree? I am so upset with both services. From my concern, nothing dropped to bottom and caught on fire. They all refused to replace the new one and asked me to continue using it. I really dont feel confident to use this one and dont know who can help me to replace it.

Do not buy this washer. It does not get clothes clean. I use extra rinse (that negates the water savings) and still clothes comes out with stains on them. Some clothes are not even fully wet when removed after washings. I find myself soaking and pre-treating many items. White socks and undergarments are grey soon after buying. I always liked Whirlpool washer and dryer products, but this is a very poor product.

Very disheartening to know that an established company such as Whirlpool does not stand behind their products or acknowledge known product defects. Based on the quantity of complaints logged on this site alone, Id think a recall would be required. Identical to other consumer posts within, we purchased the Cabrio Platinum washer/dryer set (WTW8000BW0). Exactly 24 months to the purchase date, jet planes began flying through our home with the noise concentrated in the laundry room. The dryer has been fine; however, the washer is a whole other issue. The bearings are shot (as many users have cited) and the noise is deafening... even with the laundry door closed, TV on high, dogs barking and flurry of activity in the kitchen! We made a switch to the Whirlpool brand 2yrs ago due to reputation and longevity. Ooops. Lesson learned and $700 out the window. Back to GEs. If youre reading this and concur with our review, just remember... customers always have a choice! Unfortunately, Whirlpool will figure this out the hard way. Just like other iconic brands... Smith-Corona, Blockbuster, Polaroid, Nokia, Saturn, Pontiac/Oldsmobile, Sony and many others. There is typically a reason a company offers tremendous sales incentives (price cut, rebate, special financing) to unload products. We found out why. Thanks for the memories Whirlpool!

I bought a brand new Whirlpool fridge early June with the extended warranty to have it shipped on my moving day on June 18. The team delivered and installed the fridge and told me to wait 3 hours before plugging it. I went and spent over 300$ in groceries only to find out the fridge does not work. I waited 24 hours, still not working. I had to wait until Monday to call the customer service because it is closed on weekends. I had to throw out all my food and order food all weekend which incurred an extra 200$. I called Whirlpool on Monday and was told a technician would only come on June 30th. 8 DAYS LATER!!!!I did some research and found a certified whirlpool technician myself who was able to come the next day only to find out the fridge has no gas and this is an assembly defect - WHIRLPOOLS FAULT. Whirlpool would have to send me a brand new fridge (These fridges are NOT TESTED?!). I was asked to call to arrange the exchange, I asked for compensation as I have already spent over 500$ and now would have to wait another week with no fridge and they refused to compensate....They told me I would get a call in the next 48 hours to let me know when I would get the new fridge and 3rd day later, still no call.I received a call on Friday to tell me they approved the exchange...Really now and would have to wait another week. That is over 2 weeks with no fridge, I sent a private message last week to Whirlpool, no answer, I spoke to customer service twice, they cant help me and do not want to compensate me. I have never been so frustrated and mistreated by a supposedly « reputable » company? WORST PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!

The icemakers Whirlpool has been using for the last couple of years are a PITB. They have diamond shaped ice cubes which are great but, whenever the filter nears the end of its life, the icemaker fill tube freezes up. Occasional freezes up just because. Changing the filter, although the old one supposedly has some life left, may/may not solve the problem. Filling the ice tray with foreign ice for a few days thaws the fill tube and it will generally start up again - maybe. Complete waste of time and energy!

Whirlpool Dishwasher model # WDT720PADB. Replaced an old Maytag that was 12 years old; cleaned great but finally the pump gave out. From the first day that we cleaned dishes with the new Whirlpool, the dishes were not as clean as the old Maytag and totally wet even when the heated dry cycle was on. Repeated calls to Whirlpool customer service and two technician visits and still the same results. We end up drying every load by hand. Now after 14 months (two months out of warranty) only the silverware wash jets are working with all other zones inoperative. This machine is a plastic piece of junk and all it takes is one look at the cheap construction and components to say that Whirlpool engineers are competing with the Chinese made brands. This boat anchor is going to the curb tonight! Never again will Whirlpool get my business!

Called the dealer where it was purchased and a repairman was not available for another week. When the repairman showed up and diagnosed the problem which was a leak in the freezer causing ice and the fan to hit the ice, they were not equipped to fix that type of problem. We were advised to call Whirlpool consumer dept. which we did, and was advised they would send out another repairman and would be another week. I absolutely HATE this washer! These pics are of jeans AFTER they came out of washer. Its energy efficient for sure...doesnt use enough water to fully wet the jeans. And, yes, I know how to choose the correct settings. See how wrinkled the jeans are? That is what all clothes look like after being washed in this washer. Dryer isnt any better. It does dry them, but they are so wrinkled they look like they were just pulled out of dirty clothes hamper. I was a Whirlpool fan up until this set. I realized before my 30 days were up that they werent cleaning my clothes well. I went back to Lowes & set up a date & time for them to be picked up. Salesman convinced me that I just wasnt use to this new type of Whirlpool washer/dryer. Plus he insinuated I was being a problem customer who was lying about the poor performance of my set. He said they had sold a lot of these W/D and NEVER had a complaint. Dummy like I cancelled the pick up. I would not take another set of these if they were given to me. If I could afford it I would give away this set & buy something else. Anyone still interested in Whirlpool Cabrio W/D after reading my review? If so, Ive got a set I will sale you for what I owe.

It is less than 2 years old. Apparently, this is a significant defect in this problem seeing how so many people are having the same problem with the same fridge. Has anyone reported to BBB? Im thinking class action lawsuit. Im getting ready to have to repair my kitchen floors as a result of this defect. We purchased the unit in March, by April it wasnt cooling. In June it shut down. In July after 8 tech appointments and repairs. Whirlpool finally said they would refund my purchase and I should see the money in about three weeks. That would be about a week longer than the refrigerator worked. I dont have the money to just get another one so I guess the family will be without a refrigerator for another month. That means shopping every day for perishable for a family of 10. I would not recommend another Whirlpool product. This is no joke, every time I called them one of the first things asked was Did you get the extended warranty? Why would they ask, sounds as if they dont trust their own product either. This unit was purchase online through Sears.com. Purchase price was $2299.99. Order placed on March 4, 2017.

My Whirlpool washer would start up but would not add any water. It sat there doing absolutely nothing. Then it showed a code on the screen. It said to disconnect the power for 1 minute and plug it back in, which I did. I repeated that process several times. Still nothing. It also said to call Whirlpool, which I did. They wanted the Model # WFW97HEXLO and Serial #, I gave it to the gal on the phone at Whirlpool. I was told it would be a week before they could get someone out there to take a look at it. Really!! I work 80 hours a week and live in the country. I dont have a week. When I asked where the service man was coming from, he was coming from another town. I asked if there was someone closer. She gave me another appliance stores phone number. They showed up 2 business days later, looked at my washer, verified the code along with the Model and Serial #s, telling me it was the control panel. I gave that information to them on a Friday, they showed up on a Tuesday. They knew what that code was and what it meant for that make and model washer, but there just had to be a service call in there. The part was ordered on that Tuesday... here it is the following Saturday and the part still isnt here. I do not understand what takes Whirlpool so long to ship the part. Do they not care that in this hustle bustle life we live in, we dont have time to wait for a part that may or may not show up. Ship it overnight. That is an option. Making the parts accessible to the service people in a timely manner would make great customer-service. Better yet, how about going back to the old-style washers. This high-efficiency non-sense is highly expensive.

The pilot of my Whirlpool hot water heater (model FG1H5040T3NOV) suddenly went out and I called in a plumber to check it out. He managed to restart the pilot and we had hot water again, but it went out again within 12 hours. He mentioned that I would most likely need a part called a thermo coupling and I should start looking for it. Well, I found this site and read one of the positive reviews that provided the WP toll free number, so I called. Talk about great customer service! Ben was amazing – he took down all my info and was very helpful. Even though the warranty expired years ago, he overnighted me the replacement parts I needed at no charge. And there’s no charge for shipping either! My plumber is completely anti-Whirlpool HWHs and now he will change his mind when I tell him how efficient they are. I also hope he doesnt charge me a bundle to install the replacement part.

This seems to be a very common complaint with Whirlpool French door especially after reading other reviews. Bought a WRF560SMY in 2/2014, from Lowes who installed it and promised good service for that first year. Whatever went wrong, they would take care of it, replace if needed, pay for lost food, etc. So far, so good. Now in 7/2015, warranty is up of course!!! And we are selling our home, so thought I would get an extended warranty as another selling point that would transfer to new owners. Well, of course, right after I purchased the warranty, the day after actually, the freezer started buzzing. Took a look and the whole back wall of freezer was covered in frosty ice. So defrosted it, seemed to run okay... For a few hours, same problem. It sounds like the compressor fan is scraping on ice, and it runs continuously. Defrosted again, same problem. So now it is time to break down and get on the phone, which I hated to do since I went through this with Samsung in late 2013, took me 3 months to resolve. Anyway, called Whirlpool Michigan office, which I recommend. They claimed they would cover repairs, and to call their warranty repair dept. to schedule service. THEY told me I was out of luck, as my just purchased warranty would not be good for 60 days. Back to Michigan, they told me it WOULD be covered, and to try again. No go, and this time someone with a middle eastern accent told me not only would it not be covered, but even after the 60 days, it still would not be covered as it was a, GET THIS!!! pre-existing condition! Excuse me, this is not a brain tumor, and Obama did away with that anyway. So tried to call Lowes, who sympathized, but could not help since the warranty I purchased was from Whirlpool, but they would repair if I paid. And be aware that most chain stores require you purchase an extended warranty within 30 days of installation, so out of luck there, but they were nice about it, told me go back to Whirlpool. So another call to Michigan, and FINALLY got a gal at their call center in Tennessee, who resolved my problem in about three minutes. All in all, 12 phone calls. This is a manufacturer issue. she said, not a repair problem. which is what the others were apparently not educated about. It appears, although she did not say so in so many words, that this is a very, very common problem, and Whirlpool will indeed cover condenser or defrost heater assemblies for 3-5 years depending on the model. So she is supposedly calling a local repair and someone will be out in a day or two, but will call us first. No call yet, so still nail biting. I would recommend to all of you with this or other issues to read the manufacturer warranty very, very carefully. There are some things in there that go beyond the standard year, and I KNEW I had read that this problem was covered beyond the one year, and indeed, it is. And also to call, call. Call their Customer Experience Center in Michigan (1-800-253-1301) and if your freezer is icing up, you will most likely get them to fix, depending on the age of your unit. If you dont get satisfaction with the first person, keep calling back again and again, and get the NAME of the person you have spoken with and tell them to document your call. This saved me, as every call I made came up on their screen so they knew I was getting frustrated. But, she assured me, this particular problem is ABSOLUTELY COVERED BY WHIRLPOOL, so obviously it is a defect they know about. Why they dont fix it at factory, dont know but will continue to look for that answer. They got especially cooperative when I told them I was purchasing a home that would need all new appliances in the near future, which is true. Use the Michigan number and keep calling and calling until you get satisfaction. This is a covered repair beyond the one year. By the way, I do not have my ice cube maker hooked up and never did, but still had this issue. With this being said, I am very unhappy that yet another refrigerator failed on me. The Samsung after only 3 months, and the Whirlpool after only 17 months. But I will follow up on this report when and if these repairs are made in a day or two ;-] we shall see, and let you all know. The repair service is Whirlpool certified, so will grill the guy they send and see how many of these he has to fix, and whether it really is fixed So stay tuned. Just dont take your time and get frustrated talking with people who turn you down right off. Be persistent, and plan on about a dozen calls and two hours of your time. Remember to take notes of times, names, what was said, etc. This is the only thing that saved me with Samsung by the way. After 3 months they told me they HAD NO REPAIR PEOPLE in my area, and sent me a check for the purchase price to buy whatever replacement I wanted, but they also made me jump through many hoops, send pictures, docs, all kinds of stuff. Think I can almost speak a mid-eastern language now as well. Not so with Whirlpool though. It seems most if not all of their call centers are in the USA. Good luck to all of you. On my way to defrost again so we can get some sleep tonight without the chainsaw noise, and will update as soon as something occurs here. Hope I helped a little. As a PS, the last gal I spoke with was so very nice and knowledgeable. I told her she should not be taking calls, but promoted to training the call takers, and did take the time to call her supervisors and leave a message at how very good she was, which we should all do if we ever get a nice, educated person on the other end.Updated on 07/29/2015: I promised an update, so here it is. After thoroughly explaining my issue, they promised and delivered a repair person who arrived within the time they gave. He was very nice, but even tho they knew what my problem was, the guy did not have the parts onboard. He said it may take a week or two. So I am defrosting my freezer about every 48 hours to keep it from totally destroying itself. To the guy who exchanged his Whirlpool for a Samsung, I wish you a whole lot of luck if something goes wrong, and it will for sure. You wont get anyone who speaks English, but if you have a Lowes warranty, you may fare better. I can give you details on what will go wrong and how they deal with it if you want. I would advise you to have the Lowes warranty, and not a Samsung warranty, and make sure you get one within 30 days, or you are out of luck with Lowes. Good luck to you. Will update more on my Whirlpool, will say the repairman was very, very nice and gave me his card to call if I had more problems I could not solve myself until the part comes in. By the way, I do not use the icemaker and never did connect it, nor with the Samsung. I pity anyone who has to deal with Samsung directly and strongly advise you to get the warranty thru the store.

I purchased a new Whirlpool stove in Feb 2020. First off the oven was not calibrated right and Whirlpool wanted us to do all these tests to see what the problem was. Finally, after purchasing an oven thermometer I finally got my ducks in a row and called them back to which they finally sent out a repairman. Now after almost finishing supper last night the whole cooktop stopped working. It is going to take a week to get someone out to fix it. Also, we have to purchase an extended warranty for our Whirlpool refrigerator every year because it always needs something fixed. Our Whirlpool washer has been on the blink for quite some time (no warranty) and cant afford to get it fixed. When talking to someone at Whirlpool it appears they have no compassion. Whirlpool convection/microwave GMH6185XVS - In 2011, we purchased a whole new kitchen for our home with the top of the line Whirlpool products. The sorry side of this project was our microwave. This product has been terrible for us! It has been removed from our wall 4 times for failing... and four times we have gone for weeks at a time with a big hole in our kitchen wall!! All of the failures were due to the microwave not heating food or drink, and all, according to our local dealership, were for various different reasons. Again, it has failed and our local appliance center who we bought everything from does not want to deal with it anymore. I dont blame them... I dont either!! It looks beautiful up there above our range telling me the time of day... My wife and I are older adults and take very good care of everything we own. There certainly has never been any abuse to this product (not to mention we spend half our year at a winter home so this microwave only is used for 6 months a year). I contacted Whirlpool customer service about the reliability of this product and their response was that it is now not under warranty and we should deal with our local store about repairs. I have a small Sharp microwave sitting on the counter below this crappy excuse for one that stays there all the time in anticipation on the Whirlpool going down!!! The $60.00 Sharp never fails me!! This was our 2nd time around purchasing all Whirlpool products for our house. We did the same thing when we built back in 1990. All appliances performed as they should have back then. It seems Whirlpool integrity has gone downhill. I will never buy another Whirlpool product nor I will recommend to anyone I know to do the same. Good luck to anyone who purchased one of these.

It was time to put the old Frigidaire Washer out to pasture. I researched for quite some time online to find just the right new one. Its all so confusing as they all claim to be the best. The Whirlpool WTW500DW Top Load is the one I chose to look at along with 2 comparable others. I have had Whirlpool appliances in the past and was always happy with them, so I will be honest, I was leaning towards Whirlpool. I purchased the WTW500DW and matching Dryer after looking at the 2 others first. Price was lower, features were more to my liking and better quality/sturdiness was very apparent to me. This was the lower priced machine out of the 3 but had everything I wanted and a little more. The HUGE wash basket is wonderful. I have literally cut our laundry down from 4-5 loads a week to 2! Our clothes have truly never been cleaner.I am amazed at the great job this machine does with a minimum amount of time and water. It is quiet, efficient and the cycles do what they are supposed to do. The absence of electronic pad buttons is greatly appreciated. Its standard dials are easy to read and set. In my opinion, Whirlpool has done it again. Its a great Washing Machine at a price that is lower than others without as many nice features, it is well built and does the job perfectly.

Having a Whirlpool gas water heater for less than 2 years and having a 6 year warranty one would think you are safe to believe this large company will treat you as well as you treated them when buying their product. Think again. No one is allowed or has the authority to issue credit for failed parts, you cant return the product to place of purchase, you are hung out to dry. Whirlpool, I will never buy nor recommend any product you create or sell. I will make it a point to anyone having a conversation about your products just how youre untrained, read by the manual uninformed technicians really are. I will explain just how over inflated your prices are for such cheap engineered to fail products are. Have a nice day.

I bought a Whirlpool water heater in 2009. I paid $588.46 at Lowes. Turns out it is in a class action lawsuit for faulty thermocouple. I was given a coupon from Whirlpool for 2 new thermocouples as part of the class action lawsuit. The thermocouple goes out on it every 1-3 months. You never know when youre going to have a cold shower getting ready for work in the morning. I literally could have bought a new water heater for what Ive spent on thermocouples the last few years. The last two times it went out, I had to replace it twice within 1 day. Im sick of replacing it and have decided to install a new hot water heater. I am disgusted with Whirlpool and tried to contact them about it but have gotten no response. I will never buy another Whirlpool product and would not recommend them to anyone!

I have had to replace my Whirlpool 50-gallon hot water heater 2 times. First time it broke, it caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damages plus Im out a $760.00 deductible. I had the last one just over 1 month and couldnt exchange it at Lowe’s because it’s a few days over a month. So I had to get return authorization before I could return it again. I went through speaking to a hateful CSR. After calling back again, the lady, a real nice lady, helped me. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again, and if anyone is smart, they will stay away from them too. Hateful, hateful CSR. Beware.

We purchased a new Whirlpool washer in March 2010. Yesterday, 2/19/12, the washer stopped working. We called a repairman who checked the machine and told us the motor needs to be replaced. We called Whirlpool today, 2/20/12, and were told by their customer service department that since we did not have an extended warranty. We told them that we believe the motor should last more than 2 years. Their response was that if the motor lasted more than a year that was all they cared about. The only thing they would do is replace the motor if we gave them $299.00. I think it is very clear that Whirlpool knows it makes inferior products as they fail to stand behind what they make. I will never buy another Whirlpool product and would advise anyone who is looking for a washer to buy something other than Whirlpool.

My wife and I have had a Whirlpool Gold 5.8 cu ft gas range for just 5 months and have already begun to have intermittent trouble with it. She can use the oven to bake cookies in the afternoon and then try to bake dinner a couple of hours later and the oven will not preheat no matter how long she waits!! This has happened three times now and we are waiting for a service technician to come out.. Pretty sad when you buy a top of the line appliance and begin to have trouble so soon.

We bought a new refrigerator 14 months ago and the compressor went out New Year’s Eve. Of course, expecting 30 people to celebrate! The first refrigerator Lowe’s delivered was loud and we called and asked to have it replaced, which they did. The second one was also loud and we debated if we should send it back also but we just put up with it! Second mistake was not buying the extended warranty. Since we have always had good luck with WP we didnt purchase the extended warranty. Neither WP or Lowe’s would do anything to help. The repairman who looked at it and diagnosed what was wrong said the compressor was undersized for the size of refrigerator and that it had worn itself out trying to keep up. He said he would not put in the same size compressor or it would do the same thing. Hence the loud noise of this model. I will never shop at Lowe’s again, and after 30 years as a Whirlpool customer, I will never buy another product from them. Also, if you plan to buy WP, buy extended warranty. They also leak water.

Do not purchase Whirlpool smart freestanding gas range model number WFG975HOHV. I purchased the range and the refrigerator around Christmas of 2018. The first time I turned the oven on to make Christmas dinner the carbon monoxide detector alarm went off. I have tried to use the oven twice after that and the same thing happened. The oven also never gets to 350. I spoke to Whirlpool who said to unplug the oven. They stated a technician would be sent with a carbon monoxide detector and to conduct repairs. The technician came and could not get the oven to 350 and the carbon monoxide detector alarmed. He stated he has to order parts and return to complete repairs. This is a brand new oven that I could not use because the carbon monoxide alarmed and the oven was not heating to 350 because it keeps restarting every few minutes. So here I am not able to use the oven for over a month and waiting for parts for a brand new range. Do not waste your money on Whirlpool products. Also the customer service has no empathy knowing their products are defective.

I have had almost all the same issues everyone else who reviews the Cabrio WTW7800XWO washer. Now, the spring loaded lid wont stay up, so we have to use the Downy bottle to load the clothes. Thankfully, I have not had the lid crack... yet. We have had it serviced once while under warranty, that tech told us it wasnt good to wash small items, like socks. Are you kidding me? Now, the heavy lid falls on you while you are loading. I also have the Cabrio dryer, and we have fixed that more than the washer. DO NOT BUY A WHIRLPOOL CABRIO. I spoke to Sue in Tennessee that refused to let me speak to a supervisor regarding replacing a light bulb in my microwave. Sue insists that I can do this, despite no instructions in the owner’s manual and warnings all over about electrocution if I open the panel. Sue refused to assist me and is sending out a repairman. I will never do business with this company again, and I am angry that Sue refuses to see a problem with me paying $75 to replace a light bulb in a nearly new microwave. She continued to give me incorrect instructions on how to replace the bulb, and the owner’s manual does not have instructions nor do they exist on the internet. The owners are not supposed to dismantle this model, but Sue at Whirlpool Customer (no) service told me that I have to pay. Seriously? For a less than two year old microwave? Never again. The repair person told me that Whirlpool has the worst track record, and of his service calls, he has at least three to five Whirlpool refrigerators per week! This is a terrible lack of quality. When youre spending over $2,000 for a refrigerator, you expect it to work for more than four years. Not only that, but I have e-mailed Whirlpool Customer Service twice and have been ignored completely. This is my last Whirlpool product, and I urge you to stay away from them. Whirlpool’s water heater coupler. Our plumber came to our home and explained how there was a problem with our type of water heater from Whirlpool that had been sold from Lowe’s between 2000 and 2006. We purchased ours in 2004. I have the receipt. Our plumber stated the underneath screen was clear and in good shape. He also said they had other water heaters with the same type of problem and those companies had provided the new part free and free shipping due to the suit. Whirlpool has not. We have been without hot water for a couple of days and we are hoping to have the piece by tomorrow. Since this suit has already been dealt with, then how do I get my money back from Whirlpool for being dishonest with requiring me to pay? Do I need to file something? I have followed the links and I have been researching it and our model number and serial match the product that was found faulty.

The refrigerator needed a new motherboard within the first year and now that it is in the 2nd year, service is required again. Now I have to go through the same thing again for the 3rd time after the additional part comes. This refrigerator is junk. I asked Lowes for a new replacement but of course was denied. This is about my Whirlpool washing machine that has abruptly stopped working. My Whirlpool washing machine was bought in 2013 and was running [absolutely] great until Tuesday October 3, 2017. I called customer service and they said it was out of warranty. My Whirlpool washing machine model number is: WTW48008Q0. Serial number is: C34923747. I do not have the money to get this machine fixed. I am already a struggling mom, working hard to pay bills and I am already falling behind on most of them. I just had death in my family and now the machine dies - well there seems to be no end to all of this. I would really appreciate Whirlpools help in getting my machine up and running again. I have been a loyal Whirlpool customer over the span of more than two decades. I am a Whirlpool fan. My past machines have lasted 12 plus years on upwards to 15 years each.Let me share exactly what my washing machine is doing: I went to wash clothes as usual the other day; the machine filled up and stopped abruptly - that was it! It did not spin but instead emptied the water without washing the clothes and made some loud chitty chitty bang bang noises before it was all over. I unplugged it after wasting a lot more water thinking that it might just suddenly start working. It did not start working again, it just continued its non-working status. My family has bought Whirlpool washing machines and dryers for years from Sears; we were totally satisfied with the products we purchased, however, this washing machine did not make the five year mark. I really do not know what is going on with the machine; what I do know is this - it stopped working and I would like to get it working again. Hopefully it is not defective by design. #WhirlpoolWasherDefectiveByDesign. I found Whirlpool washing machines to be very reliable and would love to continue my great relationship with Whirlpool.

I have owned this Whirlpool Refrigerator French Door MODEL WRF990SLAM01 for less than 10 months. The ice machine broke down completely a few weeks ago. We called Whirlpool and they sent a repairman out the following week. He left saying he had to order parts. About 8 days later, they called to let me know they have the part in and scheduled a time to fix it. They put the new part on and said ice should be coming out in the next 72 hours. It never happened!! Not only did the ice maker stop working, the freezer stopped working which was about $300 worth of frozen meat/goods down the drain. I called the appliance repair guy. He said, I was worried about that, this product is known to have these issues. I asked, Does Whirlpool know? He replied, Absolutely, they have a kit to fix this but its not 100% guaranteed to fix this issue. REALLY?!!! I called Whirlpool and they could have cared less. There were no apologies, no type of compensation (exchange/replace). It is now going on day 22 and we still have no ice or freezer. This fridge cost me $2500 and four requested days off so I could wait for the repairman. Whirlpool, you as a company should be ashamed and outraged. You are more concerned about the bottom line of recalling these lemons and forgetting the impact you are having on us consumers. How many people are going through this issue that will not under any circumstance purchase a Whirlpool product again? I am so happy I am not investing in this company as this will impact this company in the future. They may be selling quite a few now to new homes/builders but when the word gets out what type of product they are selling and not repairing prior to the sale and knowingly letting people buy these, it leaves quite a bit of culpability on their hands. IF you are going to sell crap product, then stand behind it and repair/replace it prior to selling it to retailers!! You are a pathetic company!! STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS!!!

He then said he doesnt have the tools to do the repair, if it can be fixed, and to call him back after the Holidays. I have been w/o a fridge since Thanksgiving... a month. And no one has a solution. I was sold an inferior product that has a manufacturing flaw but I have to suffer for it. $800 out of my pocket and all I get from Whirlpool is Oh Im sorry to hear that. We can send out another tech. The fridge is less than 6 months old and still under warranty. It is a defective product that Whirlpool refuses to stand behind. The unit has performed as I had hoped. I wanted a quiet appliance that performed well, and could accommodate large plates and platters. I never put my knives, wooden utensils, pots or pans in my dishwasher so that was never an issue. I use 1 of 5 cycles available, 1 of 4 options available. Why use something other than hot water? The delay option is used often since I have a tendency to forget to turn it on, but I never let it run if someone is not home. The time left clock is also helpful, but dont count on it being really accurate. The start/resume, delay and cancel options are often used. I used the rinse option once with disappointing results. The silverware caddy is a little small, or my silverware is too large. I do not put any pots, pans or knives in, everything else fits fine because its a tall unit. So tall in fact, that the door comes out much farther than earlier units. Im still getting used to that. The front is brushed stainless with a black plastic control panel, nothing special here. My favorite options are delay and time left. Never have used the heat to dry option. We have low humidity and Ive never had the need to dry them immediately.
