My Samsung microwave (model SMH9187) is a few months past its warranty period and is no longer working due to the SE error. The unplug/reconnect fix worked for 12 hours the first time and 10 minutes the second time. I should have done more research before shopping for a microwave. I cannot believe Consumer Reports rated this junk number 1. Do not buy Samsung microwaves.

Purchased model 4 years ago. Had all sorts of problems. The control pad froze up continually. Lights & fan came on randomly by itself. We had service to fix it on numerous occasions. The repairs were in vain. Could not be fixed. Samsung finally within the warranty period exchanged the unit for a new one. Well, we had the same problems. Several repairs and 3 years later, the unit died No power. Since the warranty expired, Samsung refused to replace or repair. A service call was $165 plus parts. We purchase a new GE microwave. Do not purchase a Samsung Microwave.

I am on my 3rd Samsung appliance that has gone out or died. They are all 3 1/2 years old. First the refrigerator, then the washer and now the microwave. We bought all our appliances when remodeling. The last episode with the washer just about finished us off. The repair person said it would cost too much to fix so we should think about buying a new one, which we did. Now the microwave? I am over Samsung. Done.

After only 17 months, the magnetron on a stainless steel high end microwave by Samsung broke down. I called Samsung and they put me in touch with a repair company. I am sure it is Magnetron because the food will not heat up. I decided why bother with a repair that will cost me a minimum of $160 on the low end for a machine that was $269 new. What a nice looking piece of junk.

As everyone on this site has the same problems with Samsung refrigerator. I bought it January 2016 and less than 3 months had to have the computer board replaced. It did not make a difference. The whole bottom of the refrigerator freezes and has to be defrosted if you want to open it and it will stop making ice. There is a light that comes on to tell me to change the water filter, but it does not have one. For the last month it puts water under the draws and freezes. It is out of warranty now. It still is not paid for. After reading all the reviews I realize I need a new refrigerator, while still having to pay off this one. The store HH Gregg is no longer in business. The microwave does not work properly, just plain junk. I do not know why this company is allowed to sell products in the U.S. They are just stealing our money and getting away with it. How could they not be compelled to have a recall on these refrigerators. Keep me informed of any action with this company, please.

Samsung Microwave SMH8165STE - Around the two-year mark, beeeeep, lights on, lights off, SE, beeeep… It never ends! I just Live Chatted with Samsung rep. She put my info into Executive Consumer Relations. What does that mean? Eh, I wont hold my breath to get anything accomplished - these reviews already prepared me. I really think there needs to be a class action lawsuit for this. Not because it is such a huge ticket item, but because Samsung needs to be slapped and told they cant get away with this. How do we do that? Im in if you guys are! As for this microwave, quite frankly, I really dont think I want this hazard in my house. Itd be cheaper for me to go buy a new one from a different company, not to mention I wont have to unplug it for fear a fire will start in the middle of the night while my family and I sleep because the possessed appliance decides to turn itself on for an imaginary baked potato.

I purchased my microwave in 2010 Serial # J4LVMOSC00753V. After about 2 years I got the infamous 5E error. I found information on the internet as to how to repair it myself. When I opened the front of the unit to access the inside of the control panel, I found that the hot wire connector was melted. I must have been very close to a fire! I replaced the connector and dried the wires to correct the 5E error. The 5E error reappeared again after a few months. I again dried the wires. To keep the story short, the 5E error appeared more and more frequently, until finally it was happening weekly. The unit is now waiting for the junk man to collect it.

Bought new Samsung microwave (me21h706mqs) and after one week it caught on fire at the plastic piece in rear corner. Lucky we were at microwave watching or whole house could have caught on fire. Huge plastic smoke and horrible smell. Home Depot response was call Samsung. I asked them to come and take out as it is health hazard. Called Samsung, had to call three different numbers as they cannot transfer, phone technology?? Samsung was not impressed their unit caught fire and really did not care. Said they would sent tech in 2-3 days. UNACCEPTABLE.Basically they hung up on me after I requested someone come out on Monday to remove. Do you think if this happened to the GM at Samsung they would have treated it as routine maintenance? It is now 2 hours after Samsung was supposed to be here and no word yet. Going to replace with ANY other brand than Samsung. If you look at these reviews you see many fires. Cant believe they still are selling them. Buyer beware.

Samsung Microwave model no SMH9151STE - I received the SE Error for the first time a week ago or so and followed the instructions provided to clear the error so that the microwave can function again. Unplugging did reset and clear the SE error only for about 12 hours and then it came back again. I called Samsung and discovered that my warranty had expired. The microwave is under 2 years old. The angering part is that it took the very nice repairman about 15 to 20 minutes total to switch out the part and correct the issue. The total cost of the part was $33.61. I was charged $135 plus tax for about 20 minutes of labor. This seems like a common error and since this is the case, why doesnt Samsung provide some sort of discount since their product is defective? Samsung should stand behind their products and offer customers experiencing the SE error some sort of discount or no charge for 20 minutes of labor!

My microwave (SMH9207) that I never took out of the box until about two months ago has gotten this nice wonderful SE error code. Samsung refuses to fix the microwave. They also are saying I bought the microwave in 2010, but that isnt true. The executive slipped up and told me that they actually go by date of manufacture and add two months to it. Next they just keep saying that they are not going to fix this problem even though you can go look anywhere online and see that they are having problems with all the keypads on their microwaves. Next, the tech support people really dont want to transfer you to anyone higher than them. They are smart ** over that. They are not going to do anything for you. Plus, they act like robots and read off the stuff that they have on the screen, and thats all instead of being like real companies and standing behind their product. I refuse to ever buy anything from them again.

Samsung Microwave Model SMH9207ST - I purchased the microwave in October of 2011 from Lowes as part of our total kitchen remodeling. Lowes installed the microwave but I was not satisfied with the looks of it as it there were several paint repairs on the inside white frame. I went to the store and explained my concern to the manager. He sent out a new microwave and prior to installing it, I noticed that there were also visible white paint repairs but not as many as the first one. We agreed to accept the replacement. Post installation, my husband and I did extensive traveling. Given the time we were gone, I would say the microwave was used approximately 1 year. Yesterday, the microwave quit working. Approximately 2 hours later, I checked it again only to notice that it was very, very warm. I unplugged it and then plugged it in again. The lights went back on the panel but it was very noisy. Within 15 seconds, all lights went off again and it did not work again. I opened the door and realized that the glass plate was very hot. We thankfully took an extended warranty on all our new kitchen appliances but I can honestly say that after reading all the negative reviews on this model, I do not feel safe with it. I will definitely unplug it when we leave our residence for extended lengths of time. I would not recommend this model to anyone. Too bad there isnt a Lemon Law for appliances like there is for autos.

We wanted an additional oven to supplement our regular oven; this Samsung fit the bill because it's a convection oven that can roast and even grill meats such as chicken that can sometimes be hard to cook thoroughly without the meat becoming too dry or tough. At 1.1 cu ft it might be a tight fit for Perdue Oven Stuffer chicken or anything larger, otherwise it does its job well. Our microwave is 1700 watts, more than enough for any task from soup to popcorn to roasts, and we saw that Lowe's has our oven, model MC11K7035CG, currently on sale for $299 as of July 3.

I am highly frustrated generally over the above company name products. Now heres why: I am a big fan of the Samsung brand, my wife is also too. 99% of all our electronics products are all Samsung products. From cell phones to TVs, tablet, microwave etc, etc. You name it. Here are some CAUSES: I have 4 TVs, in my home I bought, all Samsung products. First time my wife TV went bad, you can hear the audio from the TV but no picture. I called Samsung customer service to explain my situation. On several occasions, I got hung up on. I tried and kept fighting till I finally got someone to talk to about the problem. My sorryful appeal was heard and the problem was resolved. Couple of month later again, Im having the same problem with another TV. Called Samsung, again, it was another fight. Finally, I was told it was a software issue and I needed to buy flash drive and download the new version. I insisted not to spend money over some so-called software so they downloaded the new version and mail it out to me. I then uploaded it to the TV but did not solve the problem either. To date, I still have the TV and planning to trash it. I also have a 10.1 Samsung galaxy 4, that is giving me problems. I took it back to Best Buy, and they kept it for two weeks fixing it. To date, I still have the tablet with the same problem. Now, its my microwave. WHAT IS WRONG WITH SAMSUNGS MODERN DAYS PRODUCT? They will go OFF on you right after their warranties. Im frustrated big time over Samsung modern day products.

Even if the price is higher than average, the quality and convenience add a lot of attractiveness. Microwave parts (like the plate, for example) are replaceable across different models. Samsung microwaves usually don't require reading the documentation - the interface is intuitive. I can make an emphasis the quality: reliability and quality of materials - I never experienced any issues like rusty parts over the long usage, etc. Warranty (even if I never used it) from Samsung adds some confidence in product quality. So far, I had no issues with the products of this company. Highly recommended Samsung microwaves and other kitchenware!

It is the largest microwave I have ever owned by far, but the main reason I purchased was the online ratings and reviews. I purchased a Samsung Microwave Model SMH8187STG from Costco on 19 MAR, 2011. The other day, I went to close the door, heard a snap and it wouldnt close. The plastic latch was loose. I called Samsung (even though warranty was over) to inquire about what to do, and was passed on to their Canadian parts department, where I ordered a new plastic latch piece for $2.99, assuming thats what the problem was. It would be sent to the dealer nearest to our town where I could pick it up at that price, or mailed to me for $12.99 (I chose the pick up). The parts person also helped by directing me to a website as to how to take the door apart to get at the broken latch. I discovered many other sites where people had had problems with Samsung door latches failing, SE problems, etc.Anyway, when I took the door apart and got the latch out, there were a couple of other broken plastic pieces also. I picked up the new piece yesterday, brought it home, and discovered from looking at some other websites that some people had to glue broken plastic bits back on the door in order to get everything to work (they apparently hadnt ordered a new part). My new part didnt include the other plastic pieces, as they had been part of the inside of the door! They were very small, and very thin, and were part of the guides for the latch, and one of them appeared to be the piece that would anchor the spring that would attach to the latch. Crazy glue or epoxy wasnt going to fix that piece well enough to allow a spring to re-anchor for the stress on the latch. My wife and I do not slam the microwave door, and at our age (mid-60s), we realize were now living in a throw-away society, but this is ridiculous! It looks like well need a new door, as the whole internal part of the current door contains these tiny plastic anchors. Samsung knew or ought to have known that these pieces would not stand up to repeated use over more than a few years before the stress on them would cause them to fail. Why would they not have used reasonably strong metal anchors? While Im not a lawyer, one would think that those of us that have had this problem would have a decent case in small claims court or in a class action suit, even though the warranty is over. Does anyone agree? Anyway, after reading the other horror stories and our experience, its the first/last Samsung for us! P.S. So far, we havent had the SE problem, but from the looks of it, we probably will. However, we bought ours at Costco, as mentioned, and they are very good at taking things back from dissatisfied customers.

Samsung microwave SMH9187ST - We experienced the error over the weekend (lots of fun having beeping coming from an unknown place in the house at 3 AM); unplugged and plugged back in in the morning, but it only worked for a couple hours before the SE error and beeping starting again. UGH... I am not brave enough to pull open the unit on my own, so I called Samsung and initial support told me they could do a service call at my expense where the unit is out of warranty. I stood my ground and politely reminded the service rep of how many errors are noted for this unit online, the commitment of Samsung to address the issue, and that numerous other owners have had this service provided for free - even for out of warranty units. After some further holding I was transferred to the Executive Service Center where the rep. agreed to cover the cost of the service call and repair provided it is in fact the touchpad that needs to be replaced. If the issue is something else (highly unlikely), I would own the cost. Seemed reasonable so I agreed. I am now pending a call from a local service vendor to schedule the work. The kill em with kindness approach worked well in getting them to work with me and cover the cost of the repair. Overall this has been a pretty reliable unit for the past 3 years. I just dont get why they dont do a full recall if this is going to happen with every unit eventually.

The dreaded 5E display.... So I have a Samsung SMH 9187st microwave and have officially joined the club. My OTR microwave is just shy of 4 years and I guess a little luckier than most that I just got the error message. Googled a YouTube video by Joe ** where he showed step by step how to clean behind the panel. So far, so good. I just hope it holds.

Price was over $300.00 and this appears to be a very common issue at around the 18th month of usage mark per the complaints online I have read. Of course, I called the company and they state, Too bad, it is out of warranty (12 months). The company needs to look at the business they are losing over what could be a small fix. I will no longer purchase any Samsung products. I was a dedicated Samsung customer because the quality was there in the past. In this economy, you would think that a company would value the customers they have and when they see a defect like this, they should address it, not just brush it off. Samsung needs to look at Tylenol for an example of going above and beyond for its customers. So with that said, I have a $350 microwave that lasted less than 2.5 years so maybe I will just purchase a cheap microwave every year. At least, I will get a new one each year and may be more cost effective,

I am writing a negative review as it relates to my purchased a Samsung microwave model ME16H702SES in April 2019. The microwave overheated and the paint melted at the bottom of microwave. I send pictures of the damage and was told it was cosmetic damage and the tech also told me it was the same. I followed up with a phone call and talked with several representatives and was told that their only solution was to apply metal paint. I voiced my concerns, since there was no explanation as to how this could happen. I was told about warranty and installation, but nothing to do with as it relates to a safety issues. I did go on record that I was concerned about my and my family safety, to continue to use a microwave that has overheated.

My microwave that I purchased in April 2011 has been giving me issues month
My microwave that I purchased in April 2011 has been giving me issues months after I purchased. The panel has been replaced about 4 or 5 times and continued to have issues like beeping for no reason, lights on and off without being touched and going out for weeks and returning back to life after weeks of not working. I have made plenty of phone calls about 40 between Samsung and their technicians with little luck. At times they closed my file just because and i would have to start the process all over again. Since my microwave has completely stopped working in August 2014 they said they would fix and came out 3 times to diagnose the same issue but never fixed it. I was told by tech he was going to order parts and be back to fix, and never did. It was a lie. They called me 3 other times after that because they wanted to diagnose it again. That makes no sense, but they claim that is the process. I complained with BBB, and Samsung now wants the original purchase receipt that I had already showed the technician in 2012. Since I dont have it they want to partially reimburse me for owning it all this time. Whos fault is that? Not mine. If Samsung would have accepted my product was defective from the beginning I would not have owned it for so long. How can the people put an end to this defective product. They should get sued or make them recall their product. I am tired of Samsung and they should be held accountable for selling faulty products.

The screen flashes 777s sometimes, sometimes nothing at all and currently has completely stopped working altogether and the screen shows C-FO. In 2010, we finally upgraded our appliances that we had for over fifteen years. Of course, the Samsung appliances came highly recommended. I did three months of research, even though there were many red flags and negative reviews about Samsung appliances. Thanksgiving 2011, the refrigerator began making a loud noise. Of course, the warranty has expired, but we have purchased extended warranty. So no problem, right? Wrong. The tech could not come until one week later. To make the story short, the issue was finally resolved in Christmas week. May, it’s the same problem. And now there’s an SE error code on the microwave, but no warranty. Samsung contacted a technician and he said it would cost $202.82, about the amount we spent on microwave. Needless to say, I would never buy another Samsung product again and will make sure to let anyone I know of the poor quality products they sell to us Americans who work hard for their money. I do, finally, have a question: if Samsung knows of the problems, why not resolve it before it becomes a class action suit?

I bought Samsung refrigerator two years ago. The door shelf broke three times so far. The first two times refrigerator was under warranty so Samsung provided free replacements. This is side by side refrigerator and it has water dispenser. The water is constantly dripping from the water dispenser. Also it has a very slow flow. It also has ice maker, however, whenever you try to get ice, it just spills all over the place because the opening is too wide. Very poor design and quality. Samsung tried to sell extended warranty. I told them when this refrigerator dies I am towing it to landfill and I will never ever buy anything Samsung. This is an extremely low quality refrigerator that was selling for $1800. I also have Samsung microwave. Do I need to tell you that the microwave door broke in less than two years? It was the plastic hinges that are again very brittle. $200 to fix (50% of the original purchase cost). Shame on you Samsung for being cheap and using cheap brittle plastic parts.

I purchased the Samsung SMH9187ST microwave in May 2011 and installed it in July 2011. The unit failed on September 1, 2012! I barely used it, too. There was no SE error code as Ive been hearing or beeping, just a blank display and no response. I unplugged the unit for about an hour and replugged it - no luck. I left it unplugged for 2 days and then it worked again for about a week and today the unit is again completely unresponsive, even after trying to plug it back in after 2 days of being unplugged. Im in for a class action suit. The company has ripped a lot of people off and should have a complete recall on these units. My biggest beef is that this unit was a pain to install and now Im looking at dismantling and reinstalling another unit. New Microwave Caught Fire - Purchased Samsung Microwave Model Number ME18H704SFG on 07-03-2016 from HHgregg. They delivered the microwave on Saturday 07-09-2016. Used the microwave Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning 07-11-2016 my wife screamed FIRE so I ran to the kitchen where the microwave door was open and a flame about 4-5 inches long was jetting out from the side of the interior of the microwave. When I say jetting it was like a torch so I got the Fire Extinguisher and put it out then unplugged it. The inside wall was still hot to the touch for some time so I removed it from above the Gas Range and Sat it outside for the day. Now there is a big hole in the side wall of the microwave.I called HHgregg and they told me to call Samsung. I called 800 726-7864, spoke to a lady there who gave me a transaction number and said a Product Specialist would call me back within 4 hours. Said I needed to call back with the serial number or I would be charged a service call fee. That return call did not happen within 4 hours so I called again and spoke to another lady who gave me a claim ticket and a service ticket and said the claim folks would call me within 24 hours and the service folks would call back the same day. I did receive a text from service saying The repair facility has accepted your repair. ASC Phone 201-672-9502 ASC will contact you within 2 business days. Then received a call from service around 5:34 who left a message which I returned the call. The lady also needed the serial number which I provided the next day and they have scheduled a service person to come out... today is the 12 the service person will come on the 19 between 10-2. I told her I did not want them to attempt to repair this unit and give it back to me. She said the service person would not take the unit but would take photos and send to Samsung where they would determine if it could be repaired. I told her I would not let that unit back into my home. She said if you refuse the service then you will be left with a broken microwave. This is where I have left this issue. We will see what happens when the service person comes out.

Samsung 2.0 cu ft Over-the-Range Microwave Model SMH9207ST - On August 21, 2013, we purchased this Microwave. On Sunday, December 14, 2014, it simply stopped working. After checking to see that the outlet was hot, I attempted to reset the microwave by leaving it unplugged. Plugged it back in with no results, unless you count nothing happening as a result. This microwave replaced an earlier one from Samsung with the dreaded SE error code that wed had for about 2 years. We got another Samsung because our experiences with 4 Samsung televisions, refrigerator and washing machine had all been good. Bad decision. Ill be replacing this one with a Whirlpool. Im fairly certain that quality has probably been compromised over the past 20+ years, but there was a 3 year old Whirlpool microwave in the house when we bought the house and it didnt get replaced for another 18-19 years. I cant remember, but it may have been replaced because of its outdated styling, not because of any problems. Well see how a 2014 generation Whirlpool microwave holds up.

I just moved into a new house late last year and it had a fairly new Samsung Over-the-Range Microwave Oven installed. This was working fine for the last few months until one day, it started giving us an SE error on the display and none of the other buttons would work. Initially, this would go off on its own but would then come back and until one day, it came back and just wouldnt go off. We browsed the internet and found that there was a whole sea of people that have reported this issue and turns out that it is a quite common problem. The microwave has just passed its warranty and Samsung now expects us to pay for the service and parts if they fix it. Considering this is a common problem faced by so many people, I think they should do a recall and get these fixed for everyone. The model I have is SMH9207ST. I took the power off even for days hoping the computer will reset... negative. I went to internet where some people claimed cleaning the terminals will do it… negative. This is absurd, a microwave less than 3 years. I have to bring back from my garage a Whirlpool microwave, a very basic and inexpensive model that I have used for more than 10 years and it works well. I am upset with myself letting the Sears salesman convince me that Samsung was the best choice. Where is the government? Where is the customer protection of other times? Where is the respect? It should be an official recall. I will start talking to Samsung and if they ignore me, I will start a movement for a class action against Samsung. The biggest class actions always have started with one person. Arrogant companies that believed were invincible like Blockbuster, Pan Am, Motorola, AOL, Sears went down or are just going out of business. Samsung… beware.

I purchased Samsung Microwave SMH9207ST which comes with a 1 year warranty. The microwave was manufactured in February 2011, very moderately used, and owned for approximately 2.5 years. At 15 months, an internal piece of the handle broke, not allowing the door to close. I contacted Samsung who referred me to a repairman. For a repairman to assess the problem, order the parts needed, and install would have cost over $125 plus having to take time off of work without pay. I was able to quickly assess the problem, order 2 plastic interior door pieces (one extra) for $12 with shipping and reassemble the microwave in about 3 minutes. After 2.5 years the microwave completely stopped while cooking. I am very extremely disappointed in the quality of this product. I also own a Samsung Jr, manufactured in 1999, which has been used far more, even brought tent-camping and trips, and it is still working fine. I am now very reluctant to purchase a Samsung product. I plan to take this microwave apart to attempt to diagnosis the problem myself. In the meantime, I will continue to use the Samsung Jr until I have the resources to purchase a new microwave.

Returned home after 3 hour absence to find my 3 year old Samsung microwave
Returned home after 3 hour absence to find my 3 year old Samsung microwave baking a non existent potato. The menu was flashing baking potato. I have no idea how long it was on and turning it off & on twice did not help. I ended up shutting down the fuse on the circuit board. Repairs totaled $175. Totally unacceptable. I am elderly and live alone so no question of excessive use. I wish I had seen this review forum first and I would not have repaired it at all. Very unhappy...

Purchased all new kitchen appliances with the microwave being one of the Samsung products. The original one we ordered they had to swap out with another unit due to they could not sell the original anymore. We were having multiple error codes, and they sent a service Contractor out under a warranty call, and they assumed it was the motherboard, which they replaced. Well that didnt work, in fact it was worse. Called for them to come out and repair it under the warranty. Seeing the 1st time did not work, so they sent out a service Contractor who replaced the door. In fact it was even worse with the microwave shutting down when cooking and still having error codes. Called Samsung backed and had to argue with them to send someone out to fix the microwave due to it was still not repaired from original warranty so called repair. They agreed after talking to a supervisor and they sent a service Contractor out, where he looked on a website and it showed an issue with the fan. They replaced the fan, but a week later the unit was still having the same problems with the same error codes and an additional new error code. Called Samsung again and they were going to do an accommodation, which in essence is an exchange. I had to send copies of the purchases that Lowes sent me, and waited for answers as usual, so I called back and said that because it was out of warranty they werent going to do an accommodation. Because they didnt fix the microwave from the initial warranty repair, and the delay game, and do not stand behind the product, I am stuck with a defective unit. I would stay away from Samsung kitchen appliances, and glad we didnt purchase all of our appliances with Samsung.

I purchased Samsung microwave model SMH9187B on November 12, 2009. It is now September 7, 2012, less than 3 years later and the microwave got the SE error code. Samsung, of course, will not cover it since it is out of warranty. They are aware of the problem but dont care at all. It will cost me over $150 to get a repairman out to service it. Ridiculous! Im all for a class action suit - sign me up!

Based on the Consumer Reports review (microwave has since been dropped from their recommended list), I purchased the SMH9187ST. It worked great for 13 months then died with the dreaded SE error. I tried resetting the control module and worked for another week. I contacted Samsung and they acted like I was crazy. But thanks to kind folks in this forum, I went to repairclinic.com and purchased the replacement model item #2024600 and part #DE94-01999C for $70. I got it in a week and took all of 5 minutes to replace. I will restate the procedure: 1. Unscrew the 2 top vent screws and slide to the left. 2. Take out the top control module screw and gently remove, watching out for the tabs on the bottom. 3. There are 6 wiring connections that pull away very easily. Mark them if you need to.4. Put everything back and youre done. Working great! So far. This was way easier than I thought. Also, I contacted Consumer Reports and they provided info for filing formal complaints with various agencies. But they must be listening because Samsung is no longer in their OTR recommended list.

My Samsung microwave is less than one year old ,and I am seeing on this site that I better get a new one, because I have the SE message and nothing works to clear it. I have been on hold with Samsung, thinking this had a simple solution, three different times. So glad I checked this site so that I can stop wasting my time and money with Samsung. I will never again buy a Samsung product. Thank you all for posting.

How to fix Samsung microwave SE Code - We had the exact same problem ... SE code out of the blue, keypad wouldnt work at all. I have the solution and all you need is a Phillips head screwdriver, no skill required for the rest. I searched internet, found a YouTube video on how to take the panel apart. Unplug your microwave, follow directions to take panel off - a 5 minute job. Unplug and replug blue and white connectors...easy. Take some rubbing alcohol and wipe off that green ribbon (I read this a lot on other sites). While you have everything apart, wipe down the inside, there was some gook behind the panel so I figured, what the heck. I put it back together, plug it in. We havent had any problems since. Save your money, this is a very easy fix. I feel like the quality of every thing these days is cheap, made overseas **, so having this happen in under 24 months did not surprise me. Im just glad I didnt get ripped off further by Samsung telling me a professional repairman was needed. It was a 20 minute fix from start to finish, maybe less.

We installed a Samsung SMH9187 over cook top microwave in August 2009. I liked the 5 speed fan. The low speed was quieter than others at low speed. Controls stopped working August 2012 so I replaced membrane touch pad - a 3 year life. Now May 2013 (0.75 years later) and no response from touch pad. I just solved the problem. The problem of lack of response to control pad (a membrane switch) was to separate two sections of the control pad cable. The membrane switch type control panel was a film cable that connects to the circuit board. A 7-wire piece folds back on the cable, causing confusion for the control system on the PC board. The solution was to insert a small rolled up paper tube to separate the two cable sections. To test this I removed the paper tube and clipped the cable pieces tightly together. The controls became unresponsive. Separating the cable sections again restored function. This is a quirk in the Samsung design. It may have been unnecessary to replace the first membrane switch ($19). When the new switch was installed, by chance the two cable pieces were separated just enough to work. Then over time they moved together, initially causing some problems, then later total non-function. This problem may cause one to push hard on the buttons to make it work, possibly damaging the switch.Step by Step Instructions: 1. Unplug microwave for safety; 2. Remove 2 vent cover retaining screws from top front of microwave; 3. Push vent cover left to unhook and remove; 4. Remove screw on top of control panel box; 5. Push control panel box up to unhook and remove. No need to disconnect anything; 6. Insert a rolled up tube of paper 2 to 3 between folded back 7-connector piece and the main cable; 7. Re-install control box and test. Then re-install vent cover.Im amazed at all these problems people are having. One would think Samsung would help, but it seems they hide behind warranty is up so call a repairperson. Our last phone purchase was Nokia, not a Samsung, as I have lost faith in the brand.

Samsung SMH9187ST Microwave SE Error - I now have this issue and the microwave has been serviced twice before since 2010. In response to an earlier post, the board is available and can be found easily on the net. What is not available anymore is the entire assembly of the control panel, touchpad, bracket and PCB board. I will attempt to repair this myself by replacing the most likely component of the touchpad for $30.00 or less. I had the unit apart and attempted to clean the sensors. This worked for about 3 hours only to have the error recur. There are a couple of repair videos on YouTube that show you how simple the repair is for the DIYers out there... Im dissatisfied overall, but going forward Ill turn the fan on when cooking where steam rolls upward to the unit and probably use the left front burner area to reduce the hot steam from being right underneath the control panel assembly... Maybe this will reduce the frequency probability in the future.

I purchased my microwave on 9 Nov. 2015. Firstly, the delivery was so late I got it around 29 and on 7 of March 2016 it stopped working. I called on the service station, the person who was dealing said that you dont have to pay visiting charges but yes if something will be changed inside you will have to pay extra charges. Can anybody help me by telling the diff. between warranty and guarantee. He said that Samsung people are giving warranty, not guarantee.

I bought a microwave by Samsung on Feb. 28, 2019 the microwave started smelling like burning wires, and would not heat food. I contacted Samsung and was told a technician would come out, technician came out and said he believes it needs to be replaced because a fire had started inside of the microwave. Samsung called them and told them they would not replace it because it was physical damage from grease. The technician that came out wrote in the report it was not grease it was like hard plastic and they would not replace it. My filters are still silver like new so how can you say grease build up within a year! I will never do this again and I have contacted my attorney!!

In May, 2016 we purchased a Samsung Microwave Model # ME16H702SES/A... and the rest of the number is not visible due to the fire which burned off the serial number and part of the model number. I suspect the fire started due to electrical arcing between the microwave housing and the door, because I had that on another model six years ago, and the arcing started while the unit was not being used. The fire started in October 2016 and we contacted Home Depot Canada, the vendor. They took the information and said someone from Samsung would be coming to look at the damage and by the middle of November 2016 no one had come. We called Home Depot again and they told us to contact Samsung Canada for help. We did so, and on December 2, 2016 we received an email from Meyson **, asking us for a copy of the store receipt and photographs of the damaged area. On December 14 I sent the photographs, also asking him to confirm the receipt of the information. He replied the same day stating he had not received the photographs, I sent them again the same day, both times I sent them, there was no negative feedback from the email system, and this indicates the emails had gone through. On December 23 I had not received a reply from Meyson ** so I emailed him again indicating the length of time it was taking to acknowledge and repair this product, and heard nothing from him.December 27, I called the Samsung Canada Specialty Group (where Meyson ** works) and he wasnt available so we described the problem to another support person, they said in order to help us they required an order number. Obviously they didnt know the difference between an order number and a ticket number. After 30-35 minutes on the phone with a few individuals, it was useless going forward. We called Home Depot again asking for the appliance rep in the store where we purchased the unit and he was on vacation. At this point there is little use in pursuing this through the Customer Support area so we will file an incident with the Better Business Bureau and the CSA Group since we have had more success with the CSA in the past than the vendor.

I purchased a Samsung OTC Microwave, model # ME18H704SFS in Sept. 2016 from Home Depot. On Nov. 13, 2017, the Magnetron gave up. Samsung repairman told me it would cost $280 on top of the $109.00 I paid for him to come out. It cost me $455.64 to have this microwave installed last year. Now this. I will NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM SAMSUNG.I am so angry as to how a company can be allowed to sell such cheaply made appliances and cheat consumers out of their hard earned money. This just seems unfair. Samsung has to be aware of this problem and yet they continue to sell the units with the same problem. Of course, they are of no help when you call. This magnetron is clearly a problem based on the reviews I have now read. Wish I had read them before purchasing my unit. I would not have bought the WORTHLESS microwave. I had an old GE microwave that I used for 10 years before it gave up and I replaced it. Never had any problems with that microwave. Now you purchase what appears to be a good microwave and this appliance is a TOTALLY WORTHLESS PIECE OF JUNK.

SMH9187b microwave - SE error code appeared on this two-year-old unit. I followed the troubleshooting instructions with no results. I had their authorized service tech come out, cost $85, to the house. He said we needed a new control panel, $280. I said, Thats too expensive. Whoops, he found a loose wire. It worked fine for two days then the SE code reappeared. Were seniors so this thing is not abused. Looking online, it seems this unit has many other unhappy owners. It seems to me this may be related to the prior recall.
