Whirlpool Microwave Model WMML5530RW
I had an upscale Frigidaire suite of kitchen appliances and I loved them. A few years later I moved and needed a new set. I thought Whirlpool was about the same and I bought a Whirlpool set. The stove wont boil water or even fry an egg. It heats up and cuts off continuously. I called a service rep out and he called the engineer who told him it is designed like that and I need to use hot water on the stove to boil it. I was shocked at his ignorance and insulted by his stupidity. Ive been cooking for 60+ years and everyone who cooks knows you use cold water to boil water. But really, the stove does not cook anything. When frying eggs the burners cut off every few seconds to the point you cannot cook anything with it and the engineer said thats the way they designed it. DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL. THEY WONT EVEN BOIL WATER. HORRIBLE STOVE AND ONCE YOU HAVE IT YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT.
I was harassed and tortured. I got an extended warranty on Whirlpool microwave oven but from the last six months, I was not able to use it. The original part worked for four years but from the last four months, engineers have tried to change the part and it was a duplicate one every time. It did not last for 15 minutes in front of the engineer. To date, the engineers are still not able to fix my oven so I havent been able to use it for the last four months. Does it mean that Whirlpool make duplicate parts too and just ditch the customer? Is this also included under Whirlpools code of ethics?
I have the stainless steel Whirlpool Gold appliances. They look beautiful but do not work for long. For one, the dual burner never heated properly on the cooktop. I just worked around it. The oven vent on the cooktop left brown marks on the stainless facade attic top by the clock. Ive read some have melted this area. Then after 2 years, the entire front glass door and handle fell off when I opened it. It not only fell, but the cheap plastic lip that holds the door on cracked so it is impossible to get back on. So, since I cant afford a new stove. Im stuck with this horrible looking mess in my kitchen.
Purchased this refrigerator, Model # WRS965CIAH on October 3, 2014. Paid extra for counter depth. Initially the refrigerator worked fine. After about 9 months we noticed the food in the back of the refrigerator especially on the top shelf started freezing. This started getting worse over the next 2 months. When I called Whirlpool 10/19/2015, 800-253-1301, I was told by their representative that this was normal, that air from the freezer blows into the refrigerator through vents and to just re-arrange my food so that it is not pushed to the back of the refrigerator. I asked him if this was normal why wasnt this happening in the first few months but only developed later? He had no answer. I asked him if it made sense if this was normal then everyone who buys this refrigerator has to make sure their food is not pushed to the back of the unit, then why dont they state that in the directions for use??? Ok everyone make sure every day you push all your food to the front of the unit so it doesnt freeze ridiculous. He just said thats the best thing to do. I asked him if I could talk to a technician, if maybe there was a way to fix it manually and he said there were no technicians there. I asked him if he knew about the lemon law and he said they dont have that there... ok. The refrigerator is just days after the 1 year purchase so he basically said just to call where I purchased it that Whirlpool could do nothing for me. Is this how Whirlpool trains their employees??? Good job Whirlpool, way to go. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty. Will see how the repair goes and report back. Did not call sooner due to health issues. Its not like the refrigerator is years old and started to break down - this is within a year. Whirlpool doesnt care about quality. Will never buy Whirlpool again and will spread the word as often as I can.
We bought the Whirlpool water heater and not long after, it quit heating. After many phone calls, we finally got a response and were told to get the replacement thermocouple. We did this and it was the wrong part. We found out that we had to have a right hand thread thermocouple. Now, the heater is out of warranty and we cannot keep it lit at all. It takes at least 3-4 times before it will light once and then it goes out every time the hot water is used.
We bought our Cabrio set 2 yrs ago. They have worked fine, until about 4 weeks ago when we begun getting what looks like bleach stains on our dark and colored clothes. I blamed my wife for using bleach or splashing it accidentally. So today it happened again, and no bleach was used or even open near the machine. This was the third load today and the first one was towels, no damage, 2nd load whites and light underwear with some spotting, third load pair of pants and pair of shorts ruined. What is happening?
July 2017 I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator Model # WRF757SDEM00 S/NK51709722. The refrigerator portion went out, the repairman said it was the fan therefore I spent 351.00 dollars for house call and fan. When that did not work the repairman spoke to whirlpool and they said the panel of small computer may go out with it 212.00 plus tax. Did not allow that and tried another repairman who said the value that switches from freezer to refrigerator was out and if I could find someone to fix it would cost between 600 and 800. I went out and bought a Samsung because on the front said 10 year warranty. At least anything is better than 1 year whirlpool offers. There is NOTHING in the name.
I have bought what I thought my dream washer and would never need to buy another one. I told people about it and could have sold many of them. That was in my first year. Now I am into our second year with them and it quits. It cost right at 500.00 and when I called Sears, the company I bought it from, they charged me a service call and says it will be $585.00 to fix. WHAT? This is a lemon. If I were to buy a car and have this sort of problem they would warranty it. Why not appliances? This is an outrage. This should be illegal to sell.
A 12 year old built in double convection oven that has a retail cost of $4500.00 has its control pad discontinued. I cannot repair my investment. I spoke to the executive offices & they arrogantly told me that they only have to make parts for the length of the warranty. Suppose you had a 12 year old Honda that they discontinued a critical part would you feel swindled, I asked. We dont make cars was the response from the executive customer care agent. ARROGANCE How to destroy a company one customer at a time.
Bought a Maytag Bravo XL Top-Loading Washer Model MVWB880BWO. It was installed on Jan 22, 2014. In December, the spin cycle became very loud. I contacted Whirlpool on Dec. 2. They said a local technician would be out on Dec 5. They make up this date. I called the local technician. They came out on Dec 16. I was informed that if there was nothing wrong with the washer, I would have to pay for the service call. The tech. found there was a bearing problem. He said they would contact Whirlpool about the warranty repair. Had not heard from the repair shop. Today is Jan 5. I called the local repair shop. They said they were waiting to hear from Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool. (Thats another nightmare). They said they were waiting to hear from the tech. The man at the repair shop said he has been trying to get a hold of the rep for our area in Eureka, CA. Apparently he doesnt return emails when he is in training and apparently he is in training most of the time. It is totally unacceptable to have to wait for over a month to have a washer repaired. Not sure what a consumers recourse is for getting something that is under warranty repaired in a timely manner. Maytag used to be a good product. Since Whirlpool produces the Maytag, the quality just is not there. Very poor service. I would not recommend buying Whirlpool. You will not be happy with their product or their service.
We have had the washer and dryer for over 10 years and they are still working great. We have had washers and dryers in the past within 2 years have failed, and repairs have cost us almost as much as a new one. Thank God for the ones we have now.
I purchased my Whirlpool Double-Oven one year ago and couldnt wait to use my new oven. I was told it was so efficient because I could use the top oven for quick baking instead of heating the entire oven (plus I could set it at different temperature settings). About a month in, I cooked 2 pizzas side by side. The first one burnt to a crisp and the one right beside it was doughy on top and burnt on the bottom. Not thinking, I blamed the pizzas! I also blamed myself, thinking it was me not being used to the stove.A few weeks later, I baked cupcakes. About 15 minutes in, I smelled burning and the cupcakes were raw on top and burnt black on the bottom. I called Whirlpool and they sent a technician out and he replaced the circuit board/clock. Worked for a couple of weeks and then the burning began again. Called Whirlpool again - another technician came out and adjusted the temperature. Here I am again, had to call Whirlpool again. This stove has been so inconsistent and Im so tired of wasting food because of this stove. My 4-year old Whirlpool dryer also went out last week so needless to say, Im not very fond of Whirlpool right now! If you are planning on buying a Whirlpool product, buyer beware and I hope you have a lot of patience...
I purchased this stove online and have been very happy with the features. I am able to use alternate settings based on the size of the Pan/pot. Cook timer, light, variable rack displays, etc. The only negative feedback is the need to add 5-10 minutes more to the temperature, based on the recommended cooking time of your recipe.
I purchased a Whirlpool over the range microwave (model WMH3205XVQ) on 9/27/10 and have replaced the door now for the second time due to the plastic cracking. I also discovered today that the plastic has again cracked on the vent grill and the control panel. The door, vent grill, and control panel were all replaced on 8/19/2011, under warranty. It appears to me that Whirlpool has a manufacturing defect which they need to address with the consumers who have purchased these products.
I had to re-arrange my kitchen and have my slider doors moved over a foot to accommodate this monstrosity. After about 2 years the icemaker and water dispenser died - had to shove a facecloth in it to keep it from making noise. The white color is very hard to keep clean. Overall, I would not recommend a Whirlpool brand refrigerator.
Six months after purchasing my Whirlpool Washer model number WTW5000DW0 I would hear what sounded like rocks in the bottom of spin drum during spin cycles. Then noticed it was taking longer for clothes to wash and sometimes the water did not completely drain. Called for Service under LOWES warranty (the worst people to deal with). Tech comes removes a penny and dime and tells me that is the problem. Leaves. 45 minutes after he leaves there is the noise again. Call and set up for this Service Company to come back. Even though they went out of business prior to the appointment Lowes Service would not listen to me and insisted I stay home ALL DAY for someone who did not show up. Repeated calls to the Service Company resulted in nothing - phone disconnected. So finally after much frustration I am given new appointment with new Service Company - PARRISH. Tech comes in here five minutes and wants to know the sound, I explain. He checks out the unit and tells me it is a major problem and the part and labor will be costly. Best if they just replace the machine. His added comment - I see a lot of this. So if this machine is such a problem why was it not recalled? I am getting a replacement as I have warranty and machine was not a year old when problem started. Lowes Service Contract is another problem but I will deal with that later.
I bought a Whirlpool Dishwasher, Model No. GU3600XTVY in July 2010 for $844.30. In August 2011, it failed to clean dishes. The repairman said it needed a new heating element and computer board which costs $319.92. Today, he installed the new parts and it still wont heat the water! Now he wants to take it in to the shop to check the wiring. My previous Dishwasher was a low quality builder-installed GE that lasted 16 years without repair. If we Americans accept that 1 year is an acceptable life span for consumer products, we will continue to have this type of trash sold to us. Made in America is now the product you dont want to buy.
After reading endless stories regarding Whirlpool water heaters, I ended up here and read numerous complaints and every company response had the same message from Chris-- Go to whirlpoolwaterheaters.com/help. I went to the website and called the number (877) 251-1679. I spoke with the most helpful gentleman (Lenny) who helped me troubleshoot some things and even called me back to inquire regarding success and gave me other tips to check if the problem occurs again.
I purchased the Energy Smart Gas Water Heater about a year and a half ago, intending to install right away as part of our upgrades. Just now, I was able to install this replacement to our 30-year-old water heater that was showing problems. When trying to start the unit, I kept getting the response that the lower sensor unit failed. We contacted plumbing companies. We were told they would not work on any Whirlpool models purchased from Lowe’s, because they were the worst hot water heater ever made. I called Whirlpool support. They wouldnt put me through to a tech support person until I was registered in the system. I gave up trying after many minutes of frustration.
I bought three Whirlpool appliances (fridge, gas dryer and washing machine) from Abt in June 2012, delivered in July 2012. The fridge has not cooled from the moment we plugged it in and because I am out of state from Abt (IL), I have to deal directly with Whirlpool. According to both the Whirlpool customer service rep and her supervisor, if a product is defective from the start, Whirlpools policy is to try and repair it until they determine it to be scrap and only then will they replace/refund. I find this policy appalling since I paid for a good working product, from a company Consumer Reports rates very highly, but was shipped a defective one. Now, I have had two service visits, the second because according to Whirlpool the first technician did not perform the correct service. I have been told not to put anything valuable into my freezer for 5-7 days because most likely I have a coolant leak and the fridge is bad. This is terrible customer service and instead of fixing their error which is the purpose of having customer service, they are quickly building a reputation for a terrible product and terrible service. Good customer service would be replacing the defective fridge as it is clearly their manufacturing issue, taking the item back to their warehouse, repairing it if possible and selling it as reconditioned for a discount. I am noting my suggestion in case any Whirlpool representatives read this website. Another interesting item to note is the gas dryers absorb air from the environment around them so if you do any painting (full room or touch ups), the clothes that come out of the dryer may have a burnt/gas smell for up to 7 days. I am still waiting to hear back from the Whirlpool technician as to my burnt smell problem/resolution, but was told this from a separate service representative so I thought I would pass it on.
We bought a Whirlpool cook stove with a black top in 2009 and this year, in 2011, while cooking a pot of stew, the stove top burner began to make loud popping sounds. When I went to check it out, there was smoke coming out from under the pan and pieces of glass that had exploded out in small chunks. When calling the customer service line at Whirlpool, they told us that it was no longer under warranty and could not be of help. Their only explanation was that they would only cover a new stove top if it had cracked or broken this way when putting a cold pot on a hot burner. They said their technician could tell if this was why the shards of glass were exploded from the burner.
We bought this dishwasher only 18 months ago and its not worth the money we paid. We have had cheaper models that cleaned way better and didnt need as much maintenance as this one. We already had to spend another $410.00 in having the motor replaced in it!! When calling Whirlpool it only has a 1-year warranty and to have a technician come out just to look at it is $150.00. It is so hard to see in the part where you put the jet dry it doesnt tell you when its full or empty and no matter what it always leaves the dishes wet after. Our other dishwasher that was a way cheaper model always cleaned our dishes and never left any food on the dishes unlike this model and we even rinse the dishes beforehand! Look for another dishwasher to save yourself money in the long run!
We purchased the extended warranty (service plan number **). The washing machine has been giving trouble. It locks out during every wash cycle and each time, we have to unplug the machine to reset it. Sometimes it makes it through the next cycle and sometimes, not. The first couple of calls we made, we were told to make sure it was cleaned, to make sure it was leveled. All this was done and we still have the same problem. Finally, a technician was sent out. He could not duplicate the problem and left. Thirty minutes after he left, the machine locked out again. We put in for another call, we were told it would be two more days. In the meantime, we actually video taped the next three times it locked up. This time, when the technician came out, he was able to see our video as well as saw the machine lock up. He stated, It did not give me a code so I do not know what else to do. He left and ten minutes after he left, it locked out again. We immediately called back and they informed us they could not get anyone out again until next week. This is very frustrating to have an obvious problem and have an extended warranty and the problem cannot be solved. We feel as if we are being blown off. Is there anything you can do to help us and/or give us advise of how to get this problem resolved?
My French door refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling while under a 5 year warranty. The repairman came out 4 times to fix it over a couple months and I lost the ENTIRE CONTENTS of my refrigerator and freezer 3 separate times! I am a single mom working at a non-profit agency and I had to take 4 DAYS off of work to accommodate the repairman. Finally the repairman notified Whirlpool it could not be fixed and I was told by Whirlpool that it would be replaced under the warranty and I should wait for a call back, which never came. I called back after a few days to speak with the Exchange department and Mindy told me that I had to pay $1600 to get the exchange! When I asked to have the call escalated she flatly refused! What kind of corporation is Whirlpool that would treat customers this way? Never mind that the quality of their products gets worse with every passing year! Made to break so they can force you to buy a new one! Ive been without a refrigerator for 8 days already and cant feed my family properly with no place to store food!
We purchased a Whirlpool AccuBake oven in 2005. I think we used the self-cleaning feature about 3 times. The reason I mention this is it may be a possible cause to the frightening experience we had on August 15, 2012. My wife was cooking on the stove top when suddenly we heard loud electrical explosions coming from the back of the oven. We soon saw long arcing bolts of sparks shooting out the back, and my wife was terrified and didnt know what to do. I told her and my son to stay away from it. I ran to the circuit breaker box and turned off the breaker. We then looked in the back of the oven and it was on fire. I ran around looking for a fire extinguisher but my son managed to put the fire out. We called Whirlpool up and explained what had happened. They immediately sent someone out to look at it.I was very impressed at how fast they got someone out there. Whirlpool sent two technicians to look at the damage. After they were done inspecting, they told my wife that the problem is loose connections on Whirlpools side and not the feed and it had a damaged control board and that this is the fault of Whirlpool. He was very polite to us and apologized for any inconvenience. After a week had passed, no one called us, so my wife called and talked to some woman representative at Whirlpool. She told my wife that the report she got said that the oven had loose connection on the feed side from where we bought the oven and we should deal with them. My wife couldnt believe her ears and said, No, thats not what the technician told us, and the woman continued to talk and my wife said, Wait, slow down. The woman replied, Oh, am I going too fast for you? Well, I guess I have to talk slower then, in a sarcastic tone. My wife then called the technician who wrote the report and explained what the representative had told her, and his reply was, I cant believe she said that. I am not happy about this, that is not what I wrote in my report. Dont worry, I will personally take care of this. Again, the technician was civil and polite. After two days passed, my wife talked to the same woman again but this time she changed her story. She never apologized and said, It looks like in this report that the connections were loose to the control board. Since the oven is 7 years old and accounting for depreciation, Whirlpool is offering to you a total of $59. My wife said, Really, $59? How long is the life expectancy of these ovens? She told her, 10 years. My wife said, 10 years? Well, ours only lasted 7 and you are giving us $59 after we were almost killed and my home could have burnt down to the ground? She said, That is our offer.I called Whirlpool back and asked to talk with the safety supervisor and it was a woman again. Was it the same woman? It could have been the same woman my wife talked to, I was not sure. I asked her, When is it appropriate to issue a recall on a product? Our oven was defective at purchase. She said, You are the only complaint we had on this oven, so no recall is necessary. Yes, I said, but since it has been proven this is the fault of Whirlpool, I would expect at least a working oven from Whirlpool. I also told her the technician told my wife that Whirlpool should be bending over backwards for you, and she said, I apologize for the technicians remarks. I told her that I was dissatisfied and she will be hearing from me in the future. I did some looking on the internet and I found that KitchenAid which is made from Whirlpool had issues with a particular oven which was found that when the self-cleaning feature was used, it would heat up the control board, and since most people dont use the self-cleaning feature that often, it would take a very long time to develop. I thought that loose connections and heat are a bad recipe for disaster, and that quality control negligence and inferior components are to blame. Considering the past history and track record of class action lawsuits and appliance malfunctions such as the control board on their dishwashers, I believe it is all connected and related to my problem. Sorry but $59 isnt going to buy me a decent toaster oven, let alone a real oven. That oven should have lasted over 10 years and considering the possible damage and deaths that could have occurred, you would think that it would be in Whirlpools best interest to address this problem and bend over backwards for anyone who had the misfortune of purchasing this mickey-moused nightmare of a disaster-waiting-to-happen problem. Its not so much the money. What if a small child touches an oven as it conducts 220 volts then shocks into a childs heart to ground? What a ticking time bomb this oven is. As far as I am concerned, I dont want a dangerous oven like this in my home and Whirlpool needs to take some lessons in public relations.
We had to buy a new fridge in 2000 because ours broke. Following consumer reports, we went with a side-by-side Whirlpool gold and was it pricey! Within the first five years of its life, we had to replace the fan twice...the bar that separates the fridge and freezer could have fried an egg--it was so hot! When I had to replace it the second time, I pitched a fit to Whirlpool and they could care less! Now I see that the inside wall of the fridge section has cracks forming! I know the average lifespan is 10-15 years but I still will say that I will not buy from Whirlpool anymore! Their stuff is very expensive and it just seems it has too many small things that do not hold up!
We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio about 3 years ago. Have never really like it. It doesnt add enough water to the wash cycle unless you use the bulky setting, which fills the tub up the entire way, so wastes water. It would have been nice to choose your water level like you could on the old machines. Now it wont drain completely and wont spin totally. Ive tried using the drain/spin cycle 2-3 times extra and it still wont spin all the water out. Ive noticed that there is still water in the drum, you can hear it slosh when you move the drum, so I wonder - has anyone ever been told there is a filter in there somewhere that might be clogged keeping it from draining completely? My husband thinks that maybe all the water in the bottom of the drum is not letting it spin because its throwing it off balance. And yes, it stops before the cycle is complete and just sits there and blinks and you have to unplug it to clear the cycle. What a pain. We will never again buy a Whirlpool and I absolutely do not recommend Whirlpool washers. I have a Maytag as well and have not yet had problems with it. Bought it at the same time we bought the Cabrio (2 households). At least the water levels in the Maytag are a little more normal. You can wash more than 1 pair of jeans and get them clean in the Maytag. For those of you with the problem of the clothes not smelling clean - try running the clean cycle with a cup of bleach about once a week. No clothes in it - just a cup of bleach in the bleach dispenser and nothing else. Works for us.
The 2 rear steel rack supports were flaming/sparking. I was told by Whirlpool over the phone that this might have been a recalled item, but they would send a technician to check. The technician said it was a build-up of grease and that I should not have used the rack and not to use the rack at all in the future. However, I do not use the microwave often enough to get a build-up of grease and it is cleaned thoroughly. This is a Whirlpool-manufactured product. Why would it be unsafe and why can I not ever use the rack again? If this was a hazard, why has it not been recalled? The technician removed the rack and sprayed a white substance on the support, and I was charged $138.03 for this and left with a partially, unusable appliance. I would like this to be replaced, so that I can use 100% of my microwave or be reimbursed for this expense. Please explain. Thank you.
This unit is without a doubt the best microwave I’ve owned. It is reliable, cooks to desired doneness. It defrosts and rewarms perfectly. For the price I do not believe that there is a better performer. Would highly recommend with no reservations.
Yesterday, my DC premier refrigerator purchased on 22.12.2011 suddenly stopped working for a long time, and the inside light automatically went off. All food, vegetables, and others are damaged and rotten. Now we are scared to keep anything inside this for huge loss and health problem. Kindly rectify this, and do the needful at the earliest.
I wrote down names, but I will not say them here. I found many recall sites on Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6200vwo for washer tub bearings. Which mine are bad. I called and logged my complaint but they say they have NO recall on any of their products and will send someone out but will charge me a service call unwarranted and parts if needed. I told them there are many websites that recall their tub bearings but they refused to fix the problem on recall. I dont have photos due to bearings are under the tub.
In all of my 50 years of marriage and buying stoves, I have never had an oven breakdown. I live in Canada - I purchased three appliances, all Whirlpool 2 years ago. I had to have a service call on the fridge three weeks ago - a little rubber nipple was clogged up and water was running into my freezer. Bill $100.00 - two weeks ago, the broil element in my stove would not turn off when the bake cycle heated up. Actually, you did not have to press the fast heat button as the broil came on by itself. I have been waiting almost two weeks for the part - today I was told it would be another week. The part has to come from the US - what ever happened to Whirlpool Canada???? - I am told the bill will be $350.00 and maybe more plus the service call. I do not find this acceptable. What do you do when you have already invested the money in the product. Bring back the old Moffat stoves. I would like to be reimbursed for the money I have put out and will put out.
I bought a Whirlpool washing machine, model WTW4855HW, and was I ever shocked at how noisy it was. The wash cycle had a grinding noise that was just too much. After 2 loads I sent it back and didnt regret having to pay the restocking fee. I just couldnt believe that with all the technology we have today, that they couldnt build a quiet machine. Im an engineer so I know there are methods through gearing, belts, soundproofing, etc, to produce a quiet machine. Remember the dishwasher of days gone by. You couldnt watch TV with the dishwasher going. Nowadays, you can stand in the kitchen and have a nice conversation with it running. The technology exists. As a matter of a fact, my old Maytag that finally went bad after 10 years was fairly quiet. So, if you dont have your washing machine in the garage or basement room where you can close the door, dont buy this machine! Bruce in Portland
After less than 3 years it was the bearings, of course. Then, being handy and not stupid enough to pay the $500 for the whole piece of crap Whirlpool/Maytag tub, we bought bearings from the PartsDr. We just didnt dig deep enough to know that the strators on these things are made out of the cheapest Chinese plastic and are cracked in the SAME TWO PLACES EVERYONE ELSES IS!!! Imagine that? Will scrub my clothes in a river on rocks before I ever buy a Whirlpool/Maytag Chinese again. All front load seem to have the same problems but at least some other companies admit it and are trying to correct it. Will research and as with everything else stay away from the USA/Chinese rusty, corroded junk.
We purchased a mobile home in 2008 that had all Whirlpool appliances. The microwave quit working 2 times before the warranty was expired. They paid to have it fixed. After the warranty expired it quit working again when it was about 3 years old. I called the repairman and he said it might be the most expensive part in it, so it would probably be cheaper to buy another one. I had to buy the same model because it was a built in microwave and I couldnt find another one to fit. It quit working about 2 months before it was 2 years old. I called the company and they were polite but said they couldnt do anything since it was out of warranty. I have been through two of these same models in 5 years. It ought to be against the law to sell such junk.
My washer is a top load, energy and water efficient model. I am amazed at how little water it uses and how well it cleans. I do have two issues, the capacity looks huge but it will not take a queen size and double sheet set in the same load. It unbalances and then cant seem to get going again. The other issue is that you cant pause the wash and adjust things, you have to cancel and start over.
Purchased a black Whirlpool refrigerator, Gold Series, Model GB2FHDX WB 22 cu ft. with bottom freezer from hhgregg. Within one month I had water on my floor, ice buildup on bottom freezer floor. I had previously reviewed fridge and noise was a concern but I thought I could live with that. I contacted hhgregg. They would do NOTHING, told me to contact Whirlpool. The 1st repairman said it was the ice-maker. I DO NOT have an ice maker. He fixed a duckbill. 2nd call 6 months later, same problem with water, serviceman replaced duckbill. Next year, 2011 same problem with water on floor and ice buildup on freezer bottom floor. After numerous repairmen I contacted Corporate Office of Whirlpool. They sent another repairman at their expense. We are now 6 years later and I am having the same problem. Dont buy a Whirlpool Gold & dont buy from hhgregg.
I am very very unhappy with Whirlpool gold series. We paid more thinking it was better and dont waste your money. I have had the whole package for 3 yrs and every one has broken down. First my dishwasher wasnt cleaning. I had to take the thing apart and clean all bars and still is not cleaning right. My ice maker quit working and then started leaking under fridge. I had to have the water intake valve replaced. And now my oven says its at 350 and wont bake anything. I think the element has gone bad. This is complete junk. I should have known better and got LG.
I have Whirlpool fridge for a very long time since I own my house and for me is one of the best, is a great company and occasionally have to fix in a couple of times and afraid to buy another more modern and not last like this old fridge.
I originally brought this to the attention of Whirlpool on February 27, 2014, and they chose to ignore the matter I raised. I am appalled at their customer service, but then again, customer service has been dead in America for decades now. I purchased a KitchenaAid (Architect Series II, Model KERS807SSS02, Ser. XW4704146) oven in 2009, which included a 5-year extended warranty. The first time I had to use my extended warranty was the first time a pot overboiled and thus overflowed covering the top of my range. Since then, Ive had to have my oven serviced two other times, but resulting from a pot which overflowed on the range. The controls are located in the front, directly below the stove top. There is most definitively a flaw in the design of the model I purchased. It seems quite obvious to me that the design should have included protection from moisture reaching the controls. It is very common for pots to overboil, from time to time, and thus overflow, but this should not cause the controls to malfunction due to seepage. Had I purchased the model that had controls behind the range and controls above the cooking surface, moisture would never reach the controls when a pot overflows. It should not cost hundreds of dollars each time a pot overflows on a range. Had I known that the oven model I purchased had a design flaw that allows moisture to reach the computer controls of the oven, I would have purchased the oven with the controls above the cooking surface.I invested over $2K on this oven because having owned KitchenAid appliances in the past, the KitchenAid brand had historically proven reliable. KitchenAid (or now Whirlpool) can no longer take pride in the quality of their products, most likely relative to the loss of manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Whirlpool ignored me the first time I contacted them on this matter and most recently today when I was told that it was a use matter. Apparently they believe that an overflowed pot is not a common occurrence on a range. I wrote directly to Jeff Fettig, CEO of Whirlpool and he has chosen to ignore me.
Twelve years ago we bought an LPG Whirlpool range for our new home in Rio Rancho, NM. About 5 years ago, a tenant at our home reported a gas leak and the propane company determined that the Whirlpool range was at fault. The dealer in Albuquerque repaired the leak, by replacing all the valves at a cost of $470. A week ago, after a propane fill, once again, at least one valve was found to be leaking. Apparently, Whirlpool does not know how to make a valve that holds up over time. Over a 7 year period, I paid almost double the cost of the stove, only having to replace it at 12 years. These stoves are DANGEROUS! I will not purchase another Whirlpool product for the rest of my life.
We bought this combo at Lowes and was looking forward to their arrival. Unfortunately, we have had so many problems with both appliances. The washer is constantly having an error and we can only wash clothes on the quick wash cycle or else it will shake like crazy, get an error, and stop. We had the washer a little over a year when we had someone come look at it. We were told there is something wrong with the load sensor and it was going to be $350 to fix it. As for the dryer it will dry for a little bit and completely stop (no error) and restart later on by itself. I have been a devoted Whirlpool customer but not after this. I thought it was only us having these problems but obviously not. They have discontinued this set. No recall... ridiculous.
Microwave didnt even last 2 years. I bought all new Whirlpool Appliances less than 2 years ago & they were not cheap! The microwave wont work until the light comes on inside. Well for some reason now it takes almost 10 minutes for the light to come on & I have to leave the door open until then. Now today I cant shut it because the light wont shut off & if I try to shut it the fans runs constantly. So frustrating as they dont stand behind any of their products! I will never ever purchase anything Whirlpool again.
I stumbled across this site while browsing the Net, looking for a way to deal with the same situation I now know you all have been struggling with: Whirlpool Washing Machine! I wonder: Is NASA still accepting volunteers for their living on Mars experiment? Id rather beat my clothes on a rock than touch that POS Whirlpool that has me back on tranquilizers! Mine was purchased about 2 years ago when I was in bad health and my son was handling my affairs. I could tell - just by listening - there was something very wrong with it, from the first load my son attempted to wash. It would start and stop, restart, restop, ad infinitum and made a terrible racket. I told him nobody would intentionally make a machine like that--something had to be wrong with it but he assured me that he had checked both with the store that sold it and he also read the manual. He had a hard time accepting but we thought maybe this was because it was new and would settle down after some use; after all, the store (Best Buy) assured him the sound was normal for this particular machine. However, the weird sounds did NOT lessen nor stop, nor did the starts and stops. Little did we know, this was just the tip of the iceberg! We have encountered/suffered through every nasty performance detailed here: low water, wont spin, leaves clothes soaking wet, wont spin out excess water, lid locks (grrrrrr), it cant seem to switch from one procedure to the next; there is nothing washing the dirt out of the clothes--they just sit in the water and soak(?), then the water is released. Clothes come out with stains still on, so wet that the water must be wrung out of them! Very hard for me with arthritis all through my body! Ive tried countless times to reset machine to Drain & Spin. Ive even waited (yawn) for it to unlock so I can open and then readjust the heavy/wet laundry, trying to make it even all the way around so to avoid an unbalance. But nothing helps. It will start to spin. And then it stops. (wait, wait) Starts to spin again. Stops. (wait, wait) Starts again, does it a bit longer. (start to relax) Stops. Ive spent HOURS engaged in that kind of mindless, maddening frustration, just trying to wash one small-medium load. (I wash only for one person--myself, now.) My son, who got married and no longer lives with me, said the only way he could manage to struggle through it - and agrees it DOES take an inordinate amount of time--for just ONE load, he has to put the settings so that it washes in Deep Water even if small load. He sets Rinse, to 2 Rinses. He sets it to Soak even if the soil is light. Even then, it still makes noises, starts and stops, has to be adjusted several times during Drain & Spin. Last but not least, the noxious odor: OMG! I left one batch of laundry in the machine, with the lid open, as it was very late so figured Id dry them next morning. Some hours later when I went back to shake them out and put in clothes dryer, they smelled so awful, I had to wash them all over again! In fact, Ive had to follow my sons admonition to leave the lid up AT ALL TIMES unless actually washing in order to keep down the stink. I washed my last load with Baking Soda added to wash cycle in an attempt to lessen the odor and get laundry cleaner. Someone here wrote - in their review - that there should be a Class Action (Law) Suit filed against Whirlpool. I AGREE!!! And I want to opt IN on it. There are several law firms that advertise on t.v. that specialize in Class Actions. It would take some time and paperwork but will not cost us anything unless we win the case. Then the law firm gets a percentage. I am willing to work with one more others here who truly want to settle out this problem. I cant believe 2,000 (and thats only here), people are willing to eat hundreds, thousands of dollars of worthless, mind-gripping, rubble such as we have spent our hard-earned money. Other manufacturers recall their defective merchandise and/or replace it, or make arrangements with the retail stores who carry it to make amends, free repairs, whatever it takes to make dissatisfied, disenfranchised customers, whole. We paid for these demons from hell and we deserve to get an equivalent in merchandise (that works properly) or services. That is how it is done here in the U.S. For the life of me, I just cant comprehend why Whirlpool has been allowed to continue selling this junk--why no entity or person or lawsuit has stopped them! As I said, I am willing to work with a core group who is serious about filing a Class Action (Law) Suit against Whirlpool. It may be that the retail stores would be included as well; however, that is a matter best left to the discretion of whichever law firm we select to represent us. For those of you here who do NOT wish to be included, do not worry; you are not being pushed into anything. The way Class Actions work, you have the choice to opt IN (be included to receive your pro-rata share of what is collected). Or you are completely free to opt OUT. By opting out, that means you do not wish to be part of the Class Action and therefore, you will not be included nor will you receive any portion of the recompense collected via the Class Action. Just for your information, though: You are allowed, by law, to bring your OWN lawsuit against all or some of the same parties. The most common reason for opting out, is if you have suffered an extra large financial loss and prefer to file your own suit in order to collect ALL recompense; whereas, sometimes - in a Class Action - the individual plaintiffs may not recoup the total amount they feel they have lost. If you DO decide to opt out and go on your own, realize you will be fully responsible for lawyer fees (although you CAN add them into the balance you are seeking in your suit. Settlement of your claim may or may not include lawyers fees.) Good Luck to all. To those who wish to file a Class Action with some of the rest of us, please contact me if you want me as part of the core group of plaintiffs.
If it were not for the fact that this refrigerator has a defect that Whirlpool has recognized and is replacing the unit for, I would give the unit 5 stars in all areas. I would buy another Whirlpool due largely to the companys willingness to recognize a problem and promptly take corrective action.
My Cabrio is only 4 years old and it stop working properly. I call a service technicians to repair it and after aol $45 service charge level, he tells me that it has a Motor capacitor defect at a cost of $360 to repair. So I have paid useless piece of junk. I out and purchased another washer only $150 more than the repair. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again. My last washer a Maytag (before Whirlpool bought them out) lasted over 20 years. So if you do not want to buy a new $600 washer every 4 years. Stay clear of Whirlpool.
We bought a Whirlpool dishwasher and microwave from a reputable appliance store. The dishwasher top basket broke within 30 days. The microwave lost 100% power within 30 days. Both under warranty but parts had to be ordered. Couldnt use either appliance for over a month. What is going on Whirlpool? We need a refrigerator, but I no longer trust your brand. I dont want it to quit and then lose all of our food! Please get it together and make quality products again.
Our ice maker was not producing ice. Whirlpool Warranty sent a co. Kens Appliance Services to our home. The repairman diagnosed freon leak. When he came back on Oct. 7 with parts he blowtorched the electronic board & wires while fridge was plugged in. We still dont have refrigerator weeks later. We are buying food & ice every day. The next co. they sent werent licensed to add freon. He verified burnt board. Third company they sent told Whirlpool warranty to replace our fridge. They tried to sell our warranty back instead.
I purchased a Cabrio Platinum 4.6 top-loading washer with model number WTW8240YW0 in January of 2013. My machine has a consistent/re-occurring problem of not rinsing the clothes well. After multiple washings, including the extra rinse, my dark clothing still come out with lint, dog hair, dirt and white residue all over them. I have already checked to see if the hot/cold hoses might have been crossed. I also checked for water pressure to see if water is exiting the machine properly. It is still under warranty, and I have scheduled for a repairman. However, I will most likely return the washer to Lowes.
So I bought this $700.00 dishwasher. It has been several years since my dishwasher wasnt fixed, even though I called Whirlpool customer service several times.AGAIN, WHIRLPOOL HAS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, INCLUDING DISRESPECTFUL, ARROGANT EMPLOYEES. The service was really slow. What, the materials took 4 months to get delivered? So today they leave a voicemail and they said that technicians were at my house at 12 noon WITHOUT even notifying me when they will get to my house. They basically just came to my house without asking me an question about the schedule and appointment. This wasnt first time. So I called, and the person was like Um, the technicians were at your house. Excuse me? She sighed and said tsk, tsk, tsk. This woman was SO DISRESPECTFUL. She tried to end up conversation by saying, ugh, the technicians will call you tomorrow morning and they will let you know okay?? Bye. and hung up the phone. I didnt have any chance to say something. Again, this is my bad experience. Never going to buy products in this company. Extremely poor customer service, with disrespectful employees. If you dont want to get bad experience, dont buy any products in this company.
We bought a new Whirlpool gold gas stove. We had just finished redoing our complete kitchen, and thought it would be nice to replace appliances. I thought Whirlpool had a reputable name and good service record, but clearly, I should have checked. Three months after installing the stove, the handle pulled right off the door. We called the service tech who came in, took the door apart, and replaced the handle, but for some reason, installed different and incorrect screws for the door. Over the next 7 or 8 months, the handle pulled off twice more, and we repeated the cycle. At this point in time, we had been experiencing a situation where the stove would shut itself off. Bear in mind, it is less than 18 months old. Even now, the oven heats, and mid way through cooking anything, it decides to shut itself off. Clearly, there are issues with Whirlpool products, and when I called them, they want to do nothing about it. They jockey me around, from one service person to the next, frustrating me as I have to retell the issues to each new individual, and then they only tell me a replaced board, which would cost more than $600, is the way to go. Ive had this stove for 2 years, and it is seriously the biggest piece of garbage anyone ever put out on the market. Apparently there are no recalls on it, and so apparently, Whirlpool is more interested in ripping off their customers, than standing behind their product. I am currently seeking permission in a local paper to write a public service piece. I hope people will read it, and avoid this company at all costs. I hope whirlpool enjoys it. I dont know how they have turned a blind eye to all these complaints. As far as what I have read, with regards to other whirlpool problems, exploding glass, dangerous fumes, etc. They should be investigated, because what they are pulling off is criminal. If I want someone to steal from me, Ill leave my doors open, and let them come take me for what I have. I dont need to support a company that is stealing from me, while they wear smile on their face.
We purchased our washer approximately six months ago. It is an energy-efficient top loader without a central agitator. If I wanted a washer just for lingerie then I would be satisfied. But I need a washer that will clean farm clothes. My husband works hard and his clothes show it. This washer does not clean them. I even tried putting very few items in at a time. They still arent clean. I have to take my heavily soiled laundry to the laundromat. My other main complaint is the baffling feature of a lock mode. I spend countless minutes standing by my washer waiting for it to unlock so I can toss in an extra item or add fabric softener, etc. When we removed the latch, the washer didnt work at all. Replaced the item at a cost of $40. Infuriating!
Well, I read most of the complaints with the failures in the machine. I guess most of them didnt last long enough to rate their performance so here we go. I bought a Cabrio top loader, high-E washer a couple of years ago. This one had a different kind of agitator - it was just a couple of inches or so off the bottom. I specifically bought this to wash comforters and it seemed like it was good for that (rousing agreement from the salesperson). So after a couple of years of working with it, here are my observations:Pros: There are absolutely none!Cons: Okay, other than not having control over the settings (cannot override any of the preprogrammed wash settings), it simply doesnt get loads clean (yes, I use expensive HE detergent). Except for the bulky setting, there is never enough water to wash and rinse the loads properly. Next, it makes a mess of the clothes. At the end of the cycle, and this is true no matter what I wash or how large or small the load is or which cycle I pick - even light and slow spin, it just makes a tangled mess of the load. Stuff gets stuck inside of other stuff, wrapped around other stuff or are balled up. Never have I seen this type of issue. I constantly get the unbalanced load notice and have to manually redistribute the clothes most of the time.To address the too little water level, there are two options. I have discovered that the bulky setting has the highest water level, so I use that most of the time. From time to time (when I need different water temps or just want more water), I have developed a work-around by putting a Y adapter on the hot water inlet and a short hose. Once the washer starts the wash cycle, I stop it and add a bit of hot water to bring the level up enough to do a decent wash job - same for the rinse cycle. So much for Whirlpools water efficiency.Next, the hot isnt hot. Its barely lukewarm. So I turn the cold down to a trickle and I get a bit hotter water. It takes forever to rinse though. Its a good thing Im semi-retired. Next is the inflexible cycle/water selector. I have never had a washer I couldnt override to tell it what to do in unusual circumstances. Boy, what rocket scientist at Whirlpool dreamed that up!But above all, this just doesnt get loads clean. I have experimented with all the variables, load size, cycle selection, detergents, etc. Most of the time, I have to do two cycles with my loads and these are not unusual or extremely dirty loads. They are just normal, everyday laundry for an adult couple. Really, Whirlpool! Who was the conceptual designer on this? Thank goodness they werent working on the space shuttle or some disease research.Bottom line, I am so soured on the design and performance of this product that I will never buy another Whirlpool product, either brand name or generic (Sears). I just cant understand how a company would let something like this out the door.
Whirlpool duet steam front loader - The rubber gasket ripped about a year ago and cost over $400 to have a tech come and repair. Then the water level switch got bad and cost another couple hundred. A year later, the rubber gasket ripped again. What a junk washer. I am ready for a lawsuit because Whirlpool will not replace it.
Rust started forming early on our washer and spread quickly. Our house is air conditioned and not near the ocean. There was no reason for the rust. Poor quality finishing is the only explanation. When I called to complain I got nowhere. I wish I could show a photo on this website. It would dissuade anyone from ever buying a whirlpool.
Let me just start by saying I have multiple Whirlpool appliances, and I have always bought Whirlpool appliances in the past. I bought a refrigerator 3 months ago, and it quit working. So, I called Whirlpool to come service it. The service repairman said someone left the freezer door open and it froze up. Two days later, I had to call them back again, because now, the fridge part was not keeping food cold. He came back out and told me it was the compressor. I then in return called Whirlpool that afternoon, and they refused to replace it saying they had to follow their Warranty Policy and they would call me back on Wednesday. They did call back on Wednesday and told me they had located the part. I got a call on Tuesday of the following week and was informed they could not locate the part. I called Whirlpool the next day, and they told me they would have to send it to their Exchange department for review and I would hear back from them in 3 business days. I asked for them to rush my request, but they told they have no way of doing that. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again!
Whirlpool dishwasher failed after 16 months. It leaks continuously. they sent a service provider 5 days later out to fix it, then said there would be a $129 fee for coming (this was never mentioned at time of appointment), and the total repair cost would be $208. I wasted a day waiting for repair person to come, I declined the repair due to the cost. I called customer service later, during office hours, and I received the poorest level of customer service I have ever experienced. Whirlpool will no longer receive support from the our family. This machine cost over $500, and a ruined rug. Whirlpool wasted our time, and a day from work. We will never purchase Whirlpool appliances moving forward, due to this product and customer service experience.
My stove fits my needs as I’m looking to simplify my life and not have a behemoth with books and crannies to scrub and clean or polish. I’m looking to cook less, not more and this stove fits the bill just fine.
I bought washing machine Whirlpool Cabrio Model WTW7300XWO two years ago. It only lasted 2 years and the tub seal and tub bearing went bad. I called Whirlpool and they wouldnt replace defective part on their dime. I talked to supervisor and they still refused to admit they needed to fix this broken product on their dime and make it last longer than 2 years. They claimed only a 1-year warranty. This is totally unacceptable to have a supposedly good washer that you pay $700 for (manufacturer price $899) last only 2 years! Very, very disappointed! I wouldnt buy from this company again!
(Model WTW5640XW3) Whirlpool Cabrio worked Good for 11 months (just after warranty Expired). Replaced capacitor would not spin, hums loudly and smells like burning Plastic. Then about 2 months after that Lid locked, failed, replaced. 7 months then Actuator failed and now looks like the Main board give up. I dont know where The original parts are made but they are Cheap junk. New technology is crap for Washing machines, gears transmission and Solenoids last a lot longer plus they clean your clothes. And belts and solenoids.
I purchased a Whirlpool oven and stove from hhgregg. The refrigerator is at best OK. The stovetop is easily scratched and looks horrendous after just a few months. Cooking controls are far too high for slow cooking. Customer service is terrible. Avoid, purchase another brand. You will be much more satisfied.
Purchased our hot water heater in August of 2011. About 3 days ago, it just stopped working. Surely it should last longer than this, right? Nope apparently I was taken! We called the manufacturer and described the issue. They said it was the thermopile. They could send us another out in a few days but we didnt want to wait so we paid $50 for a new one we were able to locate at a hardware store. Nobody sells these! We replaced the thermopile but no results... Pilot will not stay lit. Called Whirlpool back and they said to hit the reset button which we did. Called a technician (several) which wouldnt touch the heater. Said nobody works on these because they are riddled with issues. I pleaded with him to test it which he did. He said the control box is out! He said to cut our losses and buy a new one! I am so very upset! I cant afford another one! We called Whirlpool back again to see what they would say this time - they are sending us another control box! After reading all of the complaints and being without hot water, I am not hopeful of a good result! I plan on replacing the control box that they send and then saving for a new heater! I want my money back which Ive heard just wont happen! I have also had nothing but issues with my gas stove made by Whirlpool ever since it was only 6 months old. STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS!! Run!!!
I purchased a built in black stainless-steel Whirlpool refrigerator in June and took delivery in September 2017. It quit making ice in December and I was told to replace the water filter. So, I did - still no ice. Fast forward to May 2018 still not making ice so finally got repair person out under warranty. He could not figure it out so reset it and said to wait 24 hours and see if there is ice. There was no ice. AND in the morning the whole unit was not working - lost all my food in the fridge and freezer - NOT covered by warranty. A few days later a different guy comes and says the guy that was there is an idiot and no longer with the company. Again, this guy can’t figure out what the issue is between himself and the Whirlpool tech on the phone so he does his thing and gets the fridge on again. Still no ice. Fast forward to 6/20/18 repair guy has been out 3 times and not been able to figure out the issue between his knowledge and Whirlpools team on the phone with him. At one point it worked for a few days and then died again and AGAIN lost all food in fridge and freezer - NOT covered under warranty. As of today even though I have not had a fridge since 5/10/18 and they won’t be back until 6/28/18 and they are just shooting in the dark on the repair cause they never have figured out what the problem is Whirlpool will not replace the unit until this attempt fails. If this attempt fails then they will review/recommend replacement of the unit which will take 2 weeks. That means that Whirlpool is OK with the consumer being out of a refrigerator for almost 3 months or more, losing time and money at work to meet with the repair person multiple times, having spent thousands of dollars on the unit and losing hundreds of dollars’ worth of food. Not to mention the inconvenience and cost of not having refrigerator for a family with a working mother, 2 teenagers and a 90 year old grandmother/great grandmother. But, hey it’s the way the warranty works right?!
You cannot control anything on this machine. You cannot pre-fill to dilute detergent- you cannot choose temp because what you choose is changed by the machine (manual). You cannot choose your own combinations of temp, water volume, and timing. Once the ** thing starts you cant change anything, like the setting you wish to use. Do NOT BELIEVE THIS IS ENERGY EFFICIENT. There is a REASON that this machine has a 2nd rinse. It is because so little water is used that it does not allow soap, lint or dirt to have anywhere to go but back into your clothes. YOU have to trick it out to get enough water to actually get some loads truly wet. EVER! You stand there like an idiot opening and closing the lid just to get enough water to dilute the detergent. You cant pre fill and then add your detergent because, it needs to sense your clothes load. Wont fill with the lid open. You cant rinse the detergent cup out. You only get to do what Whirlpool already knows about your needs. Oh & lets not forget the spin cycle. When you open the lid, large items like sheets will look like a pancake made from one of the sheets. However underneath will be a tangle of the rest of your wash worthy of a Gordian knot. You can yank your shoulders out trying to dislodge the clothes. Spin yes, I guess it did, I just didnt need permanent press wrinkles. And thats if you CAN actually open the lid. For some idiopathic reason the lid may be on lock. Good luck with that. Most often, youll find no reason that you can discern like an unbalanced load or as the booklet suggests, you havent figured out how to load a machine. I hate the design of this so much that I called the company and they said that they would send a repair man out to see if its working. Whats he going to do? Run a couple of washes and say hey thats how they design these things? They will not replace it. They do not stand behind their products. You are stuck with bad design period.Describe Yourself: Frequent User. Service/Delivery: It came with a big dent in the dryer we bought with it. Installer dudes crossed the hot with the cold. Whirlpool will not stand behind the products they make & they make lots of the brand names. So they figure they can just do exactly what they want and youre screwed because even under warranty, theyll only fix the mess of engineering they designed in the first place. Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
We purchased a Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher about 8 months ago. Immediately called for service as dishes did not clean after running over 3 hrs. Was told it is operating as designed. I followed all the tips and it still continues to not clean. Plastic wear and cups stay wet, plates arent clean. We have changed detergents pods as well. We may junk it and buy something else. Recently purchased clothes washer and did not buy Whirlpool. Very, very disappointed. I should have kept my 12 yr. old GE Dishwasher that wasted water... But cleaned my dishes. Not happy with Whirlpool!
If I could give them zero stars I would. NEVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL GAS WATER HEATER! Our Whirlpool water heater Is 4 years old. Pilot light wont stay lit. A reputable plumber came out and said that the control knob is bad and to call Whirlpool to get part because its still under warranty. So I call and get nothing but a hassle. They tried to tell me that it was installed in a room that the installation manual says it not to be in. (Background here. The house was built in 1960. It is on a cement slab and its a prefab house.) The manual says Do not install in bathrooms, bedrooms or any OCCUPIED room normally kept closed. Now let me tell you where it is at. It is in a 5 by 3 boxed area with cement floor and walls to the ceiling with access doors to it and to the furnace which is also in this area. The access door to water heater is on the back side of a bedroom closet, access door to furnace is in a hall. So Whirlpool tells me that they cant give me the part Even if I pay for it due to some national fuel and gas code. They wont even tell me where I could buy the part... They said the only way they can help me is if I relocate the water heater or put in a ventless water heater. Our water heater is vented thru the roof of house... It gets plenty of ventilation. They wouldnt let me talk to a supervisor to complain... So this is why I am on here writing this review. I might add this is not our first issue with Whirlpool. Had a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator with ice maker. The ice maker didnt work from first day. After 3 techs and 3 visits it still doesnt work. Then also the compressor went out. If you want a better product and want good customer service then dont buy Whirlpool.Oh and one more thing. Our plumber also doesnt like Whirlpool. He said he had problems every time when he has to deal with them. He said its to the point when someone calls for services and tells him its a Whirlpool he just cringes. Now thats pretty bad. I just spent 4 almost 5 hours of my morning upset to the point of tears. With no results. Another note. I called my gas company. They said our water heater is in a safe place. If it wasnt they wouldnt be supplying gas to us. Live and learn. Done with Whirlpool.
I purchased the Whirlpool washer and dryer three years ago and I absolutely wish that I hadnt. After three years of use, the bearings on the tub are shot. I need to replace them but it will cost $400.00 to repair. This is the second time that this machine is for repair. I am going to dispose this machine and purchase a new model other than Whirlpool. The overall performance is poor and not as advertised. It does not use enough water and does not wash clothes well enough. At times, you can see that the water never reached parts of the garments. I am totally disappointed in its value and quality.
Purchased a 450.00 Whirlpool over- the-range microwave oven in October 2015 and on January 4, 2017 it is not heating. Timer, light and turntable is working properly. I thought I was buying one of the best products. I was sadly mistaken. So I am a very disappointed senior citizen, is has a fixed income. I still have the receipt from my purchase from Lowes.
I purchased a Whirlpool electric stove WFE540HOES 3 weeks ago from Best Buy. 2 Main complaints: Extended cooking time when using the oven. Food that should bake in 14 minutes was taking 25. Food that should bake in 30 minutes was taking 50, etc. The big issue was that the exterior of the stove was getting extremely HOT when using the oven. The area behind the handle and the storage drawer were so hot I had to use a towel to open it w/o getting burned. Thought it was a faulty stove so I exchanged it for the same model. Just got the replacement and its worse than the 1st one! The heat permeates from the bottom of the door and heats up the storage drawer below. The area behind the handle and the enamel edge of the stove get so hot. Its definitely a safety hazard if not fire hazard. Anyone else experience this??? Its going back!
I purchased a washer 6 months ago and it was starting by itself so I called to get a technician out and it took them 3 days to tell me that they did not service in our area. Long story short I was out of a washer for 2 weeks talking back & forth with Whirlpool which was absolutely a nightmare. Kept me on hold forever and hung up on me several times so they didnt have to deal with the situation. Absolutely no customer service at all. When it came down to it they were going to issue me a new washing machine and I had to go to the store to get it and when I got to the store they told me I had a $415.00 credit to spend. Thats less than what I had paid for the washing machine and then I am having to spend an extra $200.00 out of pocket to get another washing machine. My warning to you is not to purchase any Whirlpool appliances unless you want to go thru pure hell. These people do not care about anyone after the product is sold. Their customer service sucks, their appliances suck and Whirlpool just sucks all the way around!! Worst experience I have ever had and I hope they never sell another appliance again!!
Never buy a Whirlpool water heater. Theyre junk and they dont honor warranties. NO wonder theres a lot of bad reviews. Im one of those suckers. You would think Whirlpool would do a better job. But the blessing in all this I wont have to deal with Whirlpool again. Including washer and dryer, ref, stove, dishwasher and etc.
Whirlpool Cabrio platinum washer (JUNK. DO NOT BUY). As mentioned in other complaints, the Cabrio top loading washer is garbage. Sound during the spin cycle is VERY LOUD because of a bearing noise. The clothes dont even get clean, lint all over dark clothes. I am the only person in the household so the machine did not get used as much as a family would use it. DO NOT BUY THE CABRIO WASHERS.
So disappointed with my Whirlpool purchase. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product in my life. This is my second whirlpool oven to die in a short period of time. My most recent oven only made it two years. For there to be an internal wiring issue that is now costing me $500 to repair on top of waiting 30 days for them to be able to fix the oven. This is a terrible product. Unfortunately, I didnt realize the poor quality and poor reviews prior to purchasing from this company. PLEASE be advised.
Whirlpool, shame on you! I purchased my Whirlpool Cabrio pair from Best Buy in 2008. Ive had repair technician after repair technician out over 7 times! The washing machine must have been designed by a 3-year-old! Whirlpool, youre getting greedy and youre making your products CHEAP! I know this is fact, I have a 15-year-old side by side in my garage made by Whirlpool and it works great! Fire your 3-year-old designer! I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again! After all said and done, this pair has cost me total purchase and repairs over $4,000! And Now my bearings are bad! Thank God for YouTube! Im fixing it myself this time!
I purchased my Whirlpool Cabrio H2Low from Sears 6 years ago. After numerous problems with clothes not getting clean (soap spots, stain transfers, etc) I learned the only setting I could use that actually cleaned was bulky with an extra rinse (so much for the energy efficiency). My first major repair was in the first year. Weve since had 3 more and the darn thing died again this morning. First the motherboard died and needed replacement, the drain pump failed, the door lock failed, and twice now it stopped spinning. At first I thought maybe I was just unlucky and bought a defective machine but repair sites are filled with reports of similar problems with these machines. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again.
My 79 year old grandmother hasnt used her Whirlpool washer in 5 months because of defects that Whirlpool USA thinks they are going to fix. Really??? How long is she going to go without being able to use her washer that she bought from your company? Is it going to take a year? 5 months!!!! I should be billing you for all of the out service of laundry we are having to pay for because of this inconvenience. I have never experienced worse customer service and more of a waste of my time and my dad’s time. I hate posting this but the only other option is therapy for my family from dealing with this insane issue.
Whirlpool 27 cu.ft french door bottom mount WrF989SDAH White - We took delivery of this ice making fridge mid-September from Sears Canada. 3 weeks later we have ice at the ceiling/wall seam at the back inside the fridge. Water collects along the rubber seal of the freezer drawer which we have to mop up. We said we were not going to use the water/ice maker and its not even hooked up. Water comes down through the water dispenser onto the panel which we also mop up. Moisture in fridge. Temp settings are as factory specified. Whirlpool authorized tech guy gave us the inside info. Hes seen so many design problems with this model and what Whirlpool do is order the tech guys to say to customers we can order the parts and fix it. Whirlpool keep discovering and modifying the problems but you are not allowed a refund off the bat because the tech guys authorized & sent out by Whirlpool are not allowed to give a report to the retailer or say its design defective. So the customer has shelled out money and has to have band-aids left, right and center. Went to Sears to ask for a refund. They refused because tech guy wont give a report to them (but what do we really know eh? Because the tech guy stood in my kitchen and gave a verbal report to Sears but nothing written). So Im in the hole for a crap product that is only a few weeks old and Whirlpool and Sears have got us over a barrel. The tech guy said he was going to challenge their tech line now because hes upset at how many of these band-aid fridges hes seeing now. I want a different brand and model and cant have it because Sears dont have it. In dire straits now.
Cleans average compared to previous dishwashers. Does not dry well even on high heat dry. Cycle takes about two hours and I have to run it during the day because it is too loud. The price was good, but I wish I would have bought a little higher grade.
This washing machine has been nothing but a problem from the beginning. Theres always something wrong with it. Things that cost so much should last much longer than a couple of years! I have to clean out the drain about every 3rd time I use it or it wont spin out as well.
The machine is two years old. It cost over $1,000 to buy. From the beginning, we have had mold issues with the machine. The entire house fills with the smell of rotten eggs every time we use it. The machine is used daily so it doesnt sit for long periods. Despite all the complaints online about their machines, Whirlpool refused to acknowledge that there is a design problem with the machine. They refused to make any repairs or buy the machine back and their only suggestion was to buy more chemicals from them to use to clean the machine. We have done this in the past to no avail. Oh, they did offer to send out a service company but on my dime. Whirlpool needs to be sued and I only wish that someone would start a class action suit against them. It really stinks when you try and do the right thing and buy American only to have the company not give a crap about their customers or the fact that their product is garbage. About 10 years ago, I had a Maytag front loader washing machine with the same problem. Maytag bought the machine back on a pro-rated basis, no problem, no question. Of course, Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool. Too bad they didnt adopt Maytags customer service policy. I cant wait for them to go out of business - something they deserve.
I originally purchased a Whirlpool hot water heater in 2005. After numerous problems Whirlpool agreed to replace January 2010. With the new hot water heater, everything was fine for the first two years. Now about every 6 months, we are having the thermocouple and the igniter. Each time you order the part, the part is free but you have to pay $30.00 for shipping. I am tired of dealing with this. We have decided even though we still have a warranty left on the hot water tank we are going to purchase a different one and never ever buy another Whirlpool product. They do not stand behind their products.
My daughter bought a mobile home manufactured by sunshine mobile home co. in Red Bay al. The home is only 6 mo. old. In that home there is a Whirlpool microwave oven model # WMH2175XVB-1 Serial # TRY 20 23398. After 2 months my daughter microwave stopped working, Whirlpool sent a repair man out to fix it. He didnt have the parts to repair it so he left to order some parts that he thought might be the problem. When the repairman returned two weeks later with the parts, he replaced a door switch. The oven started to work. About 4 days later it quit working again. The repairman returned for the third time, tried repairing the oven and was unable. I had to help him remove the oven so he could take it home with him so he could try to repair it. At that time I was so angry that the Whirlpool co. would send a repair man out three times to repair something that was obviously junk. When I talked to the people at Whirlpool they told me all they were authorized to do was repair it. I explained the repairman has tried three times and couldnt and that they in good faith replace the unit. The answer I received had to come from a mentally challenged person. If this is the response of Whirlpool about their product, then I want no part of them in the future.
I have a Cabrio washing machine and the circuit board has gone bad. I understand from Whirlpools customer service that if your machine was made before 2005, they are fixing the issue. Mine was made after 2006. Even though the problem is the same, Whirlpool will not correct the problem. I was told it was fixed in the new machines. The circuit board goes bad and you have to start and stop the machine at least three times before it will start your cycle, then it stops again at the 17 minute mark and you have to cancel and start the machine again for it to finish its cycle. The error is F1. Customer service acknowledged that this is a known problem for the Whirlpool machines built before 2005 but deny any claim that is is happening to the machines after 2005. Looking at all the other complaints, it is still a problem. I am disappointed in Whirlpool for their customer service attitude and for them not standing behind their product and fixing a known problem. I have always bought Whirlpool products but going forward will be switching to a better company. Shame on you Whirlpool. For a machine I spent $1000 on, the part is going to cost $300 to fix.
I bought the Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher on November of 2014 from Home Depot. The first thing that happened was that it started to leak. I called Whirlpool and someone came out to look at it. It took about a week for them to come. They said it was installed incorrectly and they do not handle installation issues. They left. I took the dishwasher out and reinstalled according to the guide. It still leaked. The dishwasher had to be perfectly level before the leaking stopped. The next issue was that the dishes were not getting clean my dishes. The top rack was the worse. I called Whirlpool again. They came out, took the dishwasher apart and said the part called the diffuser had become dislocated. He placed it back into its proper position and left. This was April of 2015. The dishwasher did an ok job. Some dishes still came out with food on it. By the end of 2015, close to the warranty expiring, the top rack was no longer being washed. I took the dishwasher apart from the inside and found the diffuser was not in the right position again. So every time I want to run the dishwasher I need to take the spray arms out and the racks until I have access to the bottom of the dishwasher to reset the diffuser. Now the warranty was expired, Whirlpool wanted about $150 just to come look at the dishwasher. Sears wanted $59. So I called Sears. Their tech said the dishwasher has a broken motor. For Sears to fix it would be around $400. I called Whirlpool. I felt that the motor was already broken within the warranty period and that the problem finally got diagnosed now. Whirlpool felt this wasnt the case. Their price to fix was also close to $400. Now I need to buy a new dishwasher and throw away a one year old dishwasher. Only this time I will buy the extended warranty. Overall, poor product, poor customer service, and poor warranty coverage.
Dryer panel broke washer. The smell is so gross I will need to throw it out. I used only HE detergent.
I also have a side-by-side Whirlpool Gold Fridge purchased from Lowes Retail Store, and I paid $1,480.00 for it. It is now 4 years old and I just noticed large cracks on right, inside part of the fridge. I called Whirlpool and got a runaround. Some lame guy said, Sorry, nothing we can do for you. When are people going to stand up for their rights and fight for their bucks? They havent heard the last of me but I will put this on the back of my truck with a nice sign on it for thousands to see. If anyone else has had this problem email me at ** and lets talk. I will never buy any Whirlpool items ever, ever again! Buyers beware! I also hold Lowes Retail Store responsible for this. They should research and stand behind what they sell, they are no better than Whirlpool!
I have owned a Whirlpool Gold Series Refrigerator for one year and 9 months. During that time I have had 7 repair issues. Each of the past ones took at least two weeks to repair. This past repair has to be redone because the new parts are also bad. The part is now on factory backorder. It will be at least two months for this to be repaired. Whirlpool says its too bad, we just have to deal with being without a working refrigerator for months. Do not buy this product!!! The warranty only means that you are forced to wait months for repairs. They will not replace, refund, or even extend the warranty for all this downtime. You have no recourse with the company.
I called customer service because my pilot light would not stay lit on my 2005 Whirlpool water heater. I was told that I needed to install the upgrade kit and that the water heater was malfunctioning because of a lack of air and that it needed to be cleaned at the bottom. I paid for the shipping of the kit although I believe it is called an upgrade or conversion kit versus a recall for this water heater to save money and to get the consumer to pay for replacing defective parts. A certified technician installed the kit but the pilot light would not remain lit. He replaced the thermocouple, although new parts had just been received. This did not help either. The technician and I called customer service, which didnt resolve the issue. I also asked for a manager who would only agree to send out another conversion kit. There are three years remaining on the warranty but I am being told to keep replacing new parts with new parts until it works. That is unacceptable. Also, I was not informed that my problem is a recurring problem with this Whirlpool water heater that I purchased at Lowes.
Our new refrigerator was delivered on March 28, 2015. On May 31 as I was opening the door, the top of the bottom door handle broke. I was finally able to get a door handle shipped to my home and I replaced the handle. On July 21, I am opening the door and the 2nd handle breaks in exactly the same place again. Two broken handles in less than four months. Terrible design flaw in this door handle. Now, I am being told by a service representative that the handles are only warrantied for 30 days because handles are cosmetic.
Stove was purchased in June, 2021. Two months later, oven will not heat up!!! Contacts Whirlpool, and TEN days later, a service person finally shows up. Problem appears to be a circuit board that they dont have, and has to be ordered! When will it arrive? He has no idea!!! I called Whirlpool, but its frustrating and a waste of time. You only get to talk to someone that appears to be reading from a script! If were lucky, well be without an oven for one month; however, it could be two...or three...or four!!! My advice: Dont buy this stove/range!!! Not only is the oven an issue, but it just seems flimsy and subpar quality, especially the oven door. Added to that, the glass top is very difficult to keep clean... Worse than any glass top stove weve had in the past.
I purchased a small dorm size fridge from Target after our electric went off and was gonna be off for a while and we purchased this to run with a generator and its 110 power also but this is a super little fridge and I would definitely would buy again.
Piece of crap. We built home 2 years ago and have all gold series appliances! They are all CRAP. Wish we would’ve upgraded to KitchenAid. Dishwasher won’t wash, microwave has hot spots and has to be unplugged and plugged back in often to work. Freezer side of the refrigerator will stop making ice because it freezes up often! NEVER buy Whirlpool!
I absolutely hate this expensive piece of junk. I have tried everything, and my clothes are not clean. It is only myself, and my husband, and our clothes dont get very dirty. I would like to send this junk to the junkyard, but I spent a lot to get the dryer with steam that went with the washer. This experience has soured me on Whirlpool appliances, and now I learn they also make appliances for Maytag!
Purchased a Whirlpool range. Shopped around for several weeks before I found what I thought was a good price and with a rebate! Ive owned the stove for 2 months and 7 days... guess what? The stove broke. The burners popped. I called to have it serviced and remember that it had a rebate. I never received any paperwork on the rebate but figured its Whirlpool, good company. Wrong... its not that I didnt have the rebate paperwork but the rebate has expired... even though I didnt get any paperwork nor was there any mentioned of a time frame. Dont get me wrong if it had been 1 year or even 6 months... really 2 months!!! So not only did I not get the rebate of $100.00 I have a broken stove! So tired of being ripped off!
I purchased a whirlpool gold series microwave model #WMH76718AS one and a half years ago, paid $500.00 for it. It stopped heating. Everything else works on it so it looks like I paid $500.00 for a digital clock and a fancy bread box! I went online and read complaint after complaint that the same thing happened to other people. It appears that the magnetron is faulty. I called Whirlpool and asked their service rep how she would feel if she bought a microwave and after 1 1/2 years it wasnt working. She told me that it was man made and that I should EXPECT things to go wrong. She did offer to pay for parts... which did surprise me. But I have to pay for a $45.00 service call and all labor that it costs to fix it. I called the number she gave me and got a answering machine.... still waiting for them to call me back. I most likely will just throw this Whirlpool piece of junk in the garbage where it belongs. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to repair a lemon. I feel that Whirlpool knows there is a problem with their product... that is why they offer to pay for parts. But why should their mistake cost their customers money on top of all the inconvenience. Whirlpool does not back their products or care about their customers after they get your money. I will Never buy a whirlpool product again and that includes anything from their sister companies Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-air, Amana and there are many more. So before you buy anything make sure you check to see who you are really buying it from!
I purchased a Cabrio top-loading high efficiency low water washer thinking I was doing something for the environment by saving on water and electricity. After about a month, I noticed that my clothes especially those with stretchable fabric were getting larger. My husband kept telling me I was imagining it. Then the clothes would get all tangled especially the pants with ties on the waistband. At the end of the cycle, the clothes are stuck on the sides of the washer and I have to pull them apart. Even after drying, I have to iron everything even my pillowcases which look like they have shrunk they are so wrinkled. I recently bought some 100% cotton outfits and they are even more wrinkled and are starting to lose their shape. I am now noticing that the stains on the clothing are not coming out even when I use a spot remover and put them through a second time. Now I started to notice an odor coming from the machine and my towels and wash clothes have a sour smell. I paid $600 for this machine and after reading the reviews, I just want to replace it. I am now waiting for it to break down. My husband kept insisting I must be doing something wrong. When it goes into the spin cycle, it bounces all around and I have to push it back in place when it is done. I do not think the clothes are getting rinsed enough so now I put them through a second rinse and always put it on low spin. It doesnt see to matter, it sounds like a rocket ready to take off. Is it even worth it to go back to Lowes where I buy all my appliances?
Lost two freezers of meat in this Whirlpool. Changed Motherboard twice. Wouldnt keep ice cream frozen. Tech told me I was buying cheap ice cream. Was told by Whirlpool that they dont replace freezers. Received a call from another WP rep who did replace it. Waiting 4 weeks now because trucking company wont come up my driveway in snow. It was here once out. Driver didnt know how to change unit out. Waiting for exp driver now.
I bought a Whirlpool French door, freezer drawer on bottom at Lowes 2 years ago for $2,600. The refrigerator needed a new motherboard within the first year and now that it is in the 2nd year, service is required again. The repairman ordered the part and came the 2nd time to replace the part upon receipt. Now it needs the 3rd part since it is still not working. I have a herniated disc in my neck and had to remove everything from the refrigerator and freezer to take downstairs to salvage our food. Now I have to go through the same thing again for the 3rd time after the additional part comes. This refrigerator is junk. I asked Lowes for a new replacement but of course was denied. Does anyone know a good lawyer for this type of situation? I never had a problem with an appliance like this.
In the last year, I have had to put in two sets of parts to my Whirlpool water heater (thermocouple) within three months in between each malfunction. Now the hot water is out again, and I need to have a plumber come and reapply new parts to the hot water heater. Whirlpool is refusing to send new parts to the less than a year old hot water heater until they speak with my plumber. It was purchased in December 2011. I am a disabled senior citizen, and we have not had hot water in over a week. Meanwhile, the weather is in the teens and has been snowing. I live alone and have not been able to wash dishes, take showers or mop my floor. Being a diabetic, cleanliness is very important to maintain good health. Living on Social Security, I cannot afford to replace my water heater parts every few months and my health cannot afford to not have hot water. Model number for this Whirlpool water heater is N30T61-303; the product number is 0733315.
My fridge stainless steel doors rusted on after Whirlpool Customer Service told me to buy and use Affresh (a Whirlpool product) to clean them! The fridge was only 12 days old when this occurred, imagine my shock and disappointment. Whirlpool Customer Service reps then sent me another one of their products Whirlpool Stainless Steel Brightener with instructions to clean it every day for 3 weeks and it would resolve the rust problem. It didnt resolve the rust problem. 2 repairmen from different companies have looked at the doors and shook their heads that Whirlpools own Customer Service department recommended a product for a fridge that rusted it and then they take no responsibility for it! Whirlpool knows these stainless steel fridges have the potential to rust. Its listed in their manual. Unfortunately, buyers arent given a copy of that manual to peruse BEFORE they buy the product. I would never have purchased this Whirlpool fridge had I seen that! I have now since read of other Whirlpool stainless steel fridges rusting.
