LG Washer issue
LG Washer difficulty
We purchased a LG Washer and Dryer on March 26th 2011. On September 23rd 2011, the Washer (WT5101HW) created a very large bang and on inspection, we found the washer had rotated more then 100 degrees on itself, luckily not tearing the water lines from the connections. The top portion of the machine, lid and control panel, were no longer connected to the main chassis and were lying to one side. The drum was not on any of its mounts and the side panels around the drum were all pushed out, as if there had been an internal explosion. I now have two significant holes in the dry wall walls on either side of the unit and the thought that if any of my children were in the vicinity when this happened, they could have experienced serious injury or worse. We are in the process of working with LG on this issue but after reading the list of complaints about LGs lack of customer support, I am not optimistic of a satisfactory resolution.
This machine rarely gets my clothes clean. It does not seem to have enough water to really clean. The worst part is the mold and mildew on the rubber seal and drum that is impossible to clean. I do use the tub clean, vinegar, and bleach but still have brown slime covering my clothes and bedding. I think it has made my husband and I sick from the mold and mildew that we cannot get to and clean. We are told to leave the door open so it can dry! Why would a machine be made that you have to leave the door open (which we do) and have to constantly clean. It still does not help. I would not recommend the LG front loader.
LG True Balance washing machine - We purchased this machine brand new and was told it was top of the line in terms of quality and capacity. It was also at the top end of pricing. We have been dissatisfied in every way. It takes hours to complete a wash cycle and the only chance you stand of getting through a wash cycle without machine stopping every 10 minutes and showing an error code is if you wash like items, ie only towels or only jeans... and then you still often times have to reposition at least once. Many times I cant get the load to finish and have had to remove and wring out by hand soaked and dripping items from machine. We have balanced it every way possible and done all recommended troubleshooting. Techs say just wash like items... not realistic to wash that many separate loads. Would love to hear if anyone has figured out how to fix this issue.
I bought an LG washing machine model WFT6500 at Courts (Mauritius) Ltd. in November 2009. Serial No. is 908.JWWZ00529. Never once washed clean and so wearily I almost never made use of it during the warranty period, thinking that it must be a machine with very low power and it is normal to wash dirty. However, after the warranty period, I contacted the seller who wanted to send someone to check but for a fee. I refused because they did not think it was a technical problem. And so I blamed myself and nursed my woes stupidly until last month when I realized that the problem comes from the rinse cycle which is not functioning properly. It only spins the clothes but does not throw the water away nor does it do another rinse. The rinse cycle lasts only a few minutes with no additional water coming in or going out until the spin cycle that finally for the first time during the wash and rinse cycle drains the water away, leaving residues of dust in the clothes.I contacted the dealer once more, insisted that it is a defect that has been there since the first wash but they want to repair for a fee. I find this unfair because the machine has never been up to expectations and in spite of being in my possession for four years, I must have used it a dozen times only and not at all for two years at a stretch during that period because of being away from home. I guess it could be a defective machine that has been sold to our Mauritian distributor with or without their knowledge.
I wrote a review maybe a year ago... same problem everyone had with the unbalanced load of the LG washer and no credible response by LG except... go pay a repairman to fix it. I read about 2 possible home-made cures... and one really works. Take an old throw-away bathroom hand towel, and fold it over and over to get it to a point where it can barely... BARELY... get wedged with all your might on top of the drum/cylinder in your washing machine and under the metal frame above it. I really struggled to get it in there... That is how tight it must be. Now do another towel... same way, for the opposite side of the machine. One towel is at (say) 9 oclock and the other is at 3 oclock. And dont worry that maybe 2+/- of the towel hangs out over the inner portion of the tub... there should be an equal portion hidden out of sight to the other side of the top of the drum. This way the towel can move a bit during a cycle and yet basically enough stays in place to absolutely keep the drum from rotating out of balance. Thats it. While the towels might move a bit during a washing cycle and end up at 11 and 5 on the imaginary clock, as long as they are opposite each other, they work. Just check them after each cycle... Are they tight? Do they need to be re-wedged in there? To help further, I have run the spin cycle only as high as medium. My first few cycles showed me that the towels were not wedged tightly enough in the opening, so be ready to re-do this part a couple of times until you realize how hard you have to work to get those two towels wedged into place so tightly that maybe there is not even room to push a quarter in above the towel. Be careful of your fingers as you do this... That is how tight I wedged these towels in!!! See photo. I have run maybe 20 loads since this cure was found online... and I have no more UE messages. I used to get a UE message every time I ran the machine!!!
My mom purchased an LG washing machine over a year ago and we have had nothing but problems. The washing machine will say UE which is uneven. You could have a large or small load and it will go uneven. When you restart the load, it will add more time and then go uneven again. There are times it will take over an hour to complete a load. You can never do small loads! I will never purchase an LG washer again. I want to get rid of this machine so bad, hard when we have paid so much for this washer. According to other reviews this is a very common issue with these washers.
Has been a good product overall. Some of the plastic parts have broken - cheaply made - but otherwise reliable. Has held up well over the last several years but at around 10 years starting to show some wear on the drum suspension from what I can tell. Guess most washers are only made to last at most 10 years. Then when a repairman came to see why it was shaking more than usual would probably be more prudent to buy a new washer than have the old one fixed.
Bought on sale from Lowes. Front loader with removable drain filter for cleaning every 30 or so days. Has worked well for cleaning and takes liquid or dry soap. Doesnt always deal well with tablets. Has all types of cycles and add water and timing feature along with Bluetooth though I have never found need to use that feature. Seems to be well built and comes with 10 year drive system guarantee. Also has a really good balance system for unbalanced loads such that it works the cloth forwards and backwards until load is balanced before final spin. Older models dont have that feature and eventually tear themselves apart spinning an unbalanced load. Works well and saves water and detergent and has all features. Have had for 2 years 5 adults using fourteen loads per week.
Within 6 weeks of purchase, our washer would not turn on. We followed online instructions for a hard reset and were able to keep the machine running for a few weeks, then that process no longer worked. We called LG who scheduled technician. Purchase date July 26, first repair was mid September. Panel replaced. Washer worked for 4 loads and stopped turning on again. We called a second time. A week later a Tech came. He could not diagnose the problem even with another tech on the phone. Ultimately reported back to LG that our outlet was faulty or not properly grounded. We KNEW this was untrue because we had our electric upgraded years ago. We could not get another tech out until we proved we had proper electric. We paid out of pocket $170 for an electrician to come and test our outlet and amperage. There was NOTHING wrong with our home wiring. He suggested was a cord issue. We reported this to LG agents and were told a tech would come back with cord and replace. Tech came a week later. NO cord had been ordered. We were told it was on back order. This was third visit. Our original call to agents informed us that 3 calls to the home and our appliance would be replaced. That was third visit. (And it occurred on Oct 15 which was over a month without a washing machine.) We were told cord was on back order and would not be available until some time early November. Every time we called (four times) we were told something different about when the part would be available. The technician told us he would recommend replacement. He requested copy of receipt. We sent texted image to tech and assumed all was in place. Two weeks later, on Oct. 30 I called again for an update. I was told (after speaking to THREE DIFFERENT AGENTS) that the tech had not submitted recommendation for replacement.Agent contacted tech who said we had not provided receipt of purchase. I was also told by agent Arthur that the part on back order had in fact been sent to the technician on Oct. 23rd. (Per Arthur this came from Jamie in parts dept.) I demanded replacement. Was told to upload receipt to a portal emailed to me (which I did) and a replacement review would be implemented. Per agent Ivan this would take about 5 business days. The next day the technician called and wanted to schedule a Saturday visit for repair, because miraculously he did in fact have the part after all. My husband and I were both unable to be home, he worked and my father is seriously ill) so we declined that Saturday repair. I also was afraid that if he came out and was still unable to repair the washer it would cancel the process in motion for a replacement.I also reported this conversation to Ivan, as he called me back that same Thursday to check in and inform me that he had received my uploaded document as requested. He agreed that another repair attempt may further muddy the situation. Six business days later I called LG again and spoke to agent Mary. She said the technician had submitted a recommendation but not a request and the process had to begin again. I was furious. It was now one week into November and I am still paying for laundromat services to have clean clothes WHILE making payments to Lowes for the non working washer. Ultimately, I called from another phone to the tech on speaker (his number was on his business card) while agent Mary was on the other phone on speaker and insisted they speak to each other. The tech said he had done everything he was supposed to do and was tired of people dragging him back into the situation. He hung up on me (the tech) and Mary the agent was very apologetic but had no recourse besides starting over with the replacement appeal. The next day, the technician called my husband and said he could come that very day and replace the cord. (Funny how when people are forced to communicate in front of the customer, miracles happen.)My husband allowed him to come. He replaced the top selection panel, the front panel and the power cord. He said if the washer stops working now we will have to get it replaced because there is nothing left to repair. That was November 7th. One week later, the washer is functioning properly and I am still catching up on my wash. This took from September 12 to Nov 7th --FIFTY SIX DAYS (almost two full months, and nearly twice as long as we owned the washer before it stopped working), four technician visits, three parts replaced, out of pocket cost for an electrician to test our power (though we knew that was not the issue) and at LEAST 12 CALLS to LG to resolve.I have been a home owner since 1991. NEVER EVER in my life have I experienced more frustration in dealing with customer service. After the second unsuccessful attempt to repair an BRAND NEW washing machine we should have been offered a hassle free replacement. LG not only sells a product they cant repair, they have no willingness to make things right with their customers. I will tell everyone I know about this experience and discourage them from purchasing any product LG makes. I will never even CONSIDER their products in the future. Lifes Good ?? Not for LG customers.
LG washer drum wont turn. Called number in the user guide. Customer service gave me a number to call for repair. Turns out they are too far to service me. Logged in to LG website and called number for washing machines. It was a Sears number that services LG. I advised the washer was 3 years old and out of warranty, but the drum motor was warrantied for 10 years. She said they could not honor the warranty since I did not buy it at Sears. She said I should go back to the store where I bought it, but the store cant do anything past warranty. Talk about a complete run around. All local appliance repair centers service all brands except LG and Samsung. Guess I am screwed.
What can I say? Its all been said, washer stinks like a sewer. I’ve followed all the manufactures requirements. I leave the door open, the soap dispenser open after every use and once a week I drain it like the manual states. What can I say? It’s all been said by everybody else. What happened to Made in America?
This washer is always unbalanced in the rinse and spin cycle displaying a UE code. Nothing will fix this and now drying takes 3 times longer because the clothes are so wet. I am not happy with this product.
Ive owned the LG washer for over a year and I absolutely hate it. It washes for over an hour and clothes do not smell fresh. I have taken my clothes to a laundromat several time just to get clothes clean and smelling fresh. Washer does only moistens clothes. No water visible. It fails to clean so much I had battled bed bugs recently. I HATE THE WASHER. WORSE PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. Now Im stuck. Biggest regret ever!! I will soon purchase an old-style washer. THIS SUCKS!!! I wish I could return washer and get my money back!!! PLEASE!!!
This is the second washer we purchased from LG and the first one lasted three years and was unable to be fixed. We purchased a higher grade, better washer that has now broken after 2 years. The warranty company came and replaced all new parts and left. I went to wash a load and it was still not working with the same issue. They are now unable to come back for two weeks! Whos paying my laundry bill and if it’s not fixed again, do we get a replacement?! What type of company sells a $1,300.00 washer that lasts two years!
We bought a WT5070CW washing machine a couple years ago. Within a year after purchase, we noticed rust forming where one pours bleach into the machine. We dont use bleach a lot, nor are we excessively hard on the machine. It has continued to get worse and now the inlet cup is pretty much ringed by rust. It is very unsightly, and we know this shouldnt be occurring.
LG sold as Kenmore Elite Model 29002 - I bought a top-load washing machine in April 2012 and loved this machine. Then, I receive this “must do recall” on the washing machine, and I took care of this service on February 28th. Well, that was the biggest mistake of my life. I hate this washing machine. It takes hours to wash a load of wash. It continually gets unbalanced while trying to spin and then starts to add water and try again. This becomes continual and you never know when your wash is going to be done. The express wash of 35 minutes ended up to be 75 minutes yesterday. Tomorrow it could be another time, and the day after that, another time. If you are not having issues with your machine, skip the recall service. I am wasting my time, my clothes are getting worn out from continual washes at one time, and my electricity bill is going up. Plus, I have an expensive washing machine that is probably soon going to the dump because I know they are not going to give me my money back.
This is a follow-up to a review written on January 22, 2013 regarding my LG washer. I did hear back from the resolutions department at LG who extended a prorated offer for my unrepairable washer. Whereas I feel the offer is fair, it is a year late in coming! The offer will allow me to purchase another machine. Trust me, it wont be another LG despite their good ratings on various websites. I am still out the hundreds of dollars in labor costs, plus the cost of having my clothes laundered at a local dry cleaners. As I said in my remarks on the 22nd, I do consider myself a pretty savvy shopper by checking both company and customer reviews. But this time was way off the mark. I hope and pray that my next choice in a washer, this time a front loader by Electrolux, is a wiser decision and that I wont be on a first name basis with my local repairman for a long, long time!
I bought a LG top loader at Conns and Im very unhappy. To wash I need to wait for my day-off because one load can take up all day. A load never stops rinsing even after spin cycle. I have to literally stand there and wait for spin cycle to stop before it takes more water and goes through rinse cycle all over again. This happens with small or full loads. Im getting ready to throw it away and get me another one.
We maintained our front-loading LG unit as recommended, and our clothes smell terrible. In addition, our daughter, who is allergic to mold, is miserable. After just a few years, we have to invest in a new unit. Do not buy the LG front-loading washer. You have no recourse.
Wish that I had found this site prior to buying their top loading washer. Bought from Home Depot 4 months ago. Left one day with washer running, when we returned it had stopped with error code, washer had not drained. Looked at error code which said that hose was possibly crimped. Pulled washer away from wall and insured that they was nothing wrong. Called LG and girl had me do the over the phone diagnostics. Bottom line, she said that it needed service and they would schedule in 3-5 business days.Only call we received from them was a company name & phone # left on answering machine, with no further information. Sent a email asking what the hell is this, you are supposed to be scheduling the service, not me. Couple of days later this service company called and left messages on the answering machine, wanted us to call them to schedule a service appointment. I called on Friday afternoon, and they would have a service tech our way on Wed. I inquired what if it needs parts will they be able to repair by Fri. reply: no way as they would have to order parts. I inquired if they provide service after 4:30 pm or on weekends as we were both returning to work next week. She says no; in other words they wanted us to take time off from work to repair a product under warranty. I told her to forget it I would recall LG, which I did and explained to the girl that they needed to find a service company that can accommodate our work scheduled, she said that she would call back for scheduled service in 3-5 business days. Last we have heard from them and Home Depot says we just sold you the washer you, LG delivered it and any issues you have you have to take up with LG. WRONG answer, Bottom line you have three choices: 1) Insure that we receive repair on the existing washer , 2) Come get the washer as you havent been completely paid for it yet and refund what you have been paid, 3) give us a new replacement or once again you dont get the balance. All 3 scenarios is that it is still under warranty and you were paid the money not LG. As it stands, intend to file official complaint with Consumer Protection Agency, Federal Trade Commission & Attorney Generals office if for nothing else other than formal matter of record.
I have an LG top loading washer purchased 8 months ago. On 12/26/2012, it quit working during a load of laundry. It is locked and full of water. This Wednesday, it has been three weeks! It smells bad and the clothes are molding. LG will not call me back. The store I purchased it from is trying to fix it. They have been to the house two times. Still waiting! LG product I will ever purchase!
We bought an LG front loading washing machine from Sears one year ago. It began making more noise on the spin cycle than a jack hammer, and almost vibrated its way out into the hallway. We called Sears repair for service. That was our second mistake! They sent a repairman only to have him make a list of parts totaling more than the original price of the machine. I asked why they dont just replace the machine and his comment was, We dont replace machines! What a joke! So a week later, an entire pallet of boxes filled with parts shows up at the front door. A few days later, two repairmen showed up to put humpty dumpty back together again. Well, that wasnt going to happen that day because, much to our surprise, the repairman needed more parts to fix the problem. So he ordered more parts and we waited another week for him to show up with his magic wand. I tried to discuss the issue with a manager but none wanted to talk with an actual customer. Imagine that! Its no wonder Sears is struggling to avoid bankruptcy. With nonexistent customer service, poor quality of appliances and zero accountability, the end is certainly coming. I only wish it had happened before we bought our appliances from them. NEVER AGAIN!!
We have had nothing but problems with our LG front loader. Any efficiency savings were eaten up in repairs and having to wash on super duty just to get stuff cleaned. The odor problem is the absolute worst. I just pulled out the detergent area and it was absolutely caked with black mold. It was the worst on the areas where the water is dispensed through. This means that no solutions of solvents would ever get to that source because its before the detergent area entry. We use the special detergents and they take care of he smell for only a few days. Who wants to spend all that time and money maintaining a washing machine. It is supposed to help us simplify our lives. I also had to drain it many times manually to remove the small items that get into and clog the drainage system. How does that possibly happen? That is a seriously flawed design problem. I have read many of the other complaints and they are all the same. At what point can we file a class action lawsuit against this company which has a very poor quality product?
I bought an LG washer 4 years ago. For the last weeks, the electrical contact is going on and off, stopping the washing cycle in the middle. I had the wall outlet replaced but the problem persists. I have to unplug the washer for a minute or two and plug it back in each time I start a load.
Very reliable front loader. Bought to replace another machine of similar size; size being first determinate, because of basement entryway requirements. Secondly, I had previously read print and online reviews, as well as heard some personal testimonies of the reliability of the brand. Some unique features of this machine are the touch screen controls, direct drive drum and the quiet operation with the lilting tune at end of wash. This machine is Wifi capable, but I haven't availed myself of this feature. It is also able to pause the machine anytime and resume without resetting the controls. My clothes get real clean and the cycles are not overly long. Compared to a top loader this machine is also a water miser, HE detergents are advised.
Clothes come out dirtier than when they go in! I have the problem that many others have: ashy-colored residue on black/dark clothing. Today, Im now getting ashy-colored stains on my white clothing. Ive not been able to figure out if this happens after washing dark clothes, white clothes, hot, cold, or ??? Ive not been able to discern out a pattern for it. So far, I cant avoid it. Ive read the reviews and LG comes back and asks for private messages instead of making solutions public. How do I contact LG so they can give me the washing experience they want me to receive?
We have owned this for two years. When I put in a few days worth of our familys sweat pants and sweatshirts used both at the gym and on daily 3 mile hikes... I notice that the machine is only using 2 to 3 inches of water. This is not enough water to clean clothes!!! Also when I put in my delicate hiking shirts, they come out with streaks of soak on the outside. This means there is not enough water to properly rinse the clothing. I have tried adding gallons of water by hand, but it doesnt seem to work. Basically, NEVER BUY THE LG BRAND. My husband bought this, but obviously he did not know what he was doing.
Our white and light colored clothes started looking dingy. It was a result of the washing detergent not being adequately rinsed out of the clothes. The certified LG repairmen came several times; however, no solution was found. After much going back and forth, I got tired and purchased a different washer. Now, Im stuck with a $2,000+ LG washing machine that is in my way. I feel as though LG has not upheld their product.
I have a WM2240C Front Load Washer and in order for it to run, I have to unplug it, and replug it back in to the socket. LG customer service is no help.
LG top load washer WT1201C - This clothing washer has one major flaw. If working properly it automatically balances the load. If it detects that the load is not balanced it will automatically rebalance it before completing the cycle. However, it frequently is unable to do this, requiring the operator to remove all the items and replace them in the washer. This often happens more than once during the cycle. If you are not constantly monitoring its operation you may check after the amount of time for the load has elapsed to find that it never completed its cycle. I would not recommend this product for this reason. I would never buy this again.
Bought these about 6 years ago. It clean clothes okay, and yes I keep the door open so it doesnt get moldy. Glad I have a plastic pan underneath. Noticing lots of water in it after a wash cycle has run. They just dont make them like they used to. Most stuff these days isnt expected to last much longer than 5 years.
I bought brand new DLGX5102W in 2011 (I had a Kenmore that was still working when I replaced it after over 20 years and that was a handy me down - and never had that repaired once but wanted the bigger capacity). Two years later in 2013...the power would turn on but drum wouldnt turn... Had that repaired, costs approx. 300.00 in total... Now the power turns off and the drum keeps going. And LG service dept stinks. They charge 100.00 just to come out to look at it, and then you have to pay for them to come back again to fix it. Doesnt anyone stand behind their product anymore? Oh, and the washer smells... When that breaks, I wont even try to repair it. Think I will cut my losses and buy a different brand, Kenmore.
We purchased an LG top-load washing machine in early Dec. We waited until Valentines Day for it to be delivered! A new machine was needed after 15 years of washing 4 athletic boys & a construction working husbands clothes! Our trusty Maytag front-load machines were going out. I wanted to buy new Maytag machines but I got talked into LG by the salesperson & fellow customers. I will just state now how truly sorry I am for being swayed into that decision because it was 1 of the worst choices Ive made. I cannot stand this machine! Im not exaggerating when I say my clothes come out of the machine dirtier than when I put them in! The clothes dont even get covered in water! I know theyre environmentally friendly, but even when you use the water plus option there should not enough water to get all the clothes wet! I have to physically get my arms in the machine & agitate the clothes.I called the store we purchased them from and of course since they are used they wont return them. I call LG, whose customer service is in a foreign country and the guy proceeds to tell me in a heavy accent that I dont know how to use the washing machine. Its user error. He didnt believe me that the clothes werent washing and continued to argue with me that I didnt read the manual. I asked what we could do to solve this problem & he told me theres nothing they can do. LG... Lifes good... NOT if you own an LG appliance! If you do buy an LG machine make sure you also buy a washboard! Youre going to need it if you want any of your laundry to be clean!
Our house has never had a loose or knocking pipe until we bought an LG washer. Ive heard this called water hammer. It started immediately after installation. I contacted LG and was told, This means that there is a sudden obstruction in the path of high pressure fluid through a pipe. This is caused by high water pressure in pipes not by the washer. Considering how very many complaints Ive found, this is the washer. I now have a pipe loose in the wall.
We recently purchased an LG washing machine, model WT1001CW. Overall, we are pleased with its design and function. It is very quiet (despite what some say about excessive noise), and for the most part it cleans okay. However, today, my wife put in some heavily soiled clothes, after an afternoon of working in her garden. These clothes were definitely dirty, but no different from clothes that we had washed dozens of times before in our previously-owned Kenmore agitator washer. Surprise! The claims we had read about that said the new impeller-type washer just didnt clean all that well are TRUE! As I write this, my wife is running the same clothes through a wash cycle for the THIRD TIME. This may not necessarily be an LG problem, but a problem with the basic concept of impeller washers. I will NEVER buy one again (unless that is all that I can buy). Sometimes new is not better.
Actually my rating is a zero. LG front loader washing machine that we have is not only a complete waste of money but a health hazard. Why the health department isnt involved in this matter is truly shocking to me. Both my Fiancee and myself have experienced general malaise (headaches, body aches, nausea, dizziness) which we now believe is due to the mold build up in this machine and thus ending up in our clothes despite double washing the clothes to get the smell out.The constant nightmare in dealing with mold buildup in the machine has truly been astounding. We have tried everything from leveling the machine since water never gets fully drained, to scrubbing the front flap , to draining water and cleaning reservoir and bleach cycle--nothing works. This is the first and last LG product we ever buy. They put this thing on the market knowing full well of the problems with it. Personally, I am looking around to see if theres a class action lawsuit. In the meantime, we are going old school and buying a cheap top loader. Weve used top loaders for 30 years and never had a problems with them. Even our kids agree that this machine is crap.
Our first year under warranty, had three repairs. Now, in our second year, not under warranty. We have a repair that will probably exceed $400.00. Our recommendation, do not have LG washers in your possession, even if given to you for free.
I have the same problem with my washer that was purchased from Home Depot November 2011. We really need to urge LG to fix or replace these faulty machines instead of doing the measly recall fix which does not seem to fix the problem. I just signed the petition LG Electronics: Replace or completely fix a recalled washer on Change.org. Its important that we pass the word and get as many people to sign as we can to get LG involved. Will you sign it too? Thanks!
I will never purchase another front load washer again. You apparently are unable to off set problems with a load when it becomes unbalanced. I continually stop the washer, readjust the load but it will not complete a final spin on many items, mattress covers and various sizes of rugs or blankets. With a top load, you are able to redistribute the items and it continues the cycle with no problems!
So we splurged and bought one of those washing machines with all the bells and whistles. Rust formed around the bleach dispenser after just over a year. This is completely unacceptable. It continues to grow daily and is not cosmetic to me. I have never had a washing machine rust out on me, what will this look like after 3 years? 5 years? If it lasts that long. There were some huge lawsuits back many years ago with auto manufacturers and rusting vehicles. Maybe an attorney should look into a class action suit against LG. A $1200 washing machines shouldnt rust. If they do, you should get relief from the company not the runaround.
Purchased a LG washing machine on Nov. 17, 2016. Broke on Dec. 2. Had the repair man from LG out to fix it. Lasted 2 1/2 loads. Broke again. LG customer service gave me the runaround, but finally got the repairman out again. Replaced 3 parts. Machine failed again after 1 1/2 loads. Contacted LG. Got the runaround again, could not get LGs own repair man to come look at it. Finally have a 3rd appt. for Dec. 12. Dont have ANY confidence in LGs repair staff. Hoping after 3 fails they will replace the unit. Communication between customer service and their repair staff is TERRIBLE! Would I buy another LG machine? Probably not. All the their customer service can manage to do promptly and correctly is say Im sorry for your inconvenience. Even then, Im pretty sure they dont mean it.
We also bought the top load model 4801 and it was defective out of the box. It shredded (snagged) several items of clothing (shirts, sheets, etc.). LG said they were only obligated to repair it, meaning take it apart and replace the drum assembly, etc. I said that wasnt acceptable. The service tech, even though he saw and documented the damaged items, could not find a specific problem with the unit. Because of that, they refused to pay for any damages their machine caused, instead stating there is nothing wrong with the machine. I argued until I was blue in the face. They would not budge. They would not let me talk to someone higher up. They gave me bogus phone numbers and e-mail addresses of people to whom I could escalate my complaint (the e-mails were returned as undeliverable and the phone numbers were not valid). Thank goodness Home Depot gave us a replacement machine against the wishes of LG. Pray that you never need service for any LG product or you will regret it from the start. I like to refer to them as the axe murderers of customer service, the worst I have ever experienced.
I purchased my LG top load washer almost 2 years ago and for about the last 6-9 months, had nothing but problems. The machine shakes violently when in spin mode, will get the UE signal 1/2 way through the wash and then restart the wash ALL OVER AGAIN! As a result of the machine going in and out, I had to lug clothes to the coin operated machine, which by way, is around $20.00 each visit! Ive had to make TWO service calls now and working on the THIRD! Im so fed-up that Im going to look into purchasing another machine this weekend! LG should make this wrong right and refund our money BACK!
I saw signs of rust appearing around the bleach dispenser less than a year after buying the LG Wave Force washing machine. With the lid down it became out of sight out of mind. 3 1/2 years later I pried the bleach dispense tray out to find the entire area rusted - not surface rust but one step short of perforation. Bought at Home Depot who gave me the run around about not have an extended warranty. Got out my Dremel tool and ground the rust out. Now will treat with Rustoleum and paint. It wont be pretty but will hopefully stop the rust which would have eventually taken over the entire lid & rendered the unit useless.
I have had the LG WT4870CT top load washer that I purchased exactly two years ago. I noticed rust around the bleach dispenser so I notified LG and let them know about the problem. When I finally got the proof of purchase to them they told me that I did not wipe the area properly. The rust is coming from under the bleach dispenser, leaking through to the top. I will need to hire someone to get to the area under the dispenser so I can take a picture of the problem. If I do it myself they might say they will not guarantee something that was not professionally repaired. It is very frustrating.
I love this machine. It is perfect in every way. It has all the cycles, gets my clothes clean and has a signal when its done. It also has a huge capacity, and handles blankets and dogbeds, no problem.
The lettering on the front of the machine just fell off. Cleaning is hap-hazard. Meaning one load will clean well and the next will not. Very frustrating. Dishes with anything hardened on it will NOT get clean.
My LG washer broke three months ago. I have a service contract but the companies LG hired to repair the washer have done nothing. I can’t even call them. Their mailbox is full. They do not answer or return or leave messages. I have a $1500 steam washer and I’m still going to the Laundromat paying to do my laundry for three months. Next time I’m going back to Maytag.
We purchased an LG front-load washer online. It was delivered on 12/3/13. It quit working after 2 loads, showing a dE error message (supposedly a door/latch problem of some sort). The appliance serviceman sent to our house by LG made 4 unsuccessful attempts to fix it, over a span of about 4 weeks. He tried replacing both the latch (twice) and the door (twice). After this, LG wanted the service company to order still more parts for more repair attempts, but the service company finally called and told us to call LG and tell them you want a new machine. We did, last week. After several days I called LG again. Nothing had happened, since they required an official receipt (proof of purchase), which wasnt mentioned in the previous call. The LG rep then said to allow 4-5 days for a resolution. Today I called back and was told it takes 7 days for the claim investigation to be completed. So its been 5 1/2 weeks since weve had a working washer, and only God knows when well have one again. Instead, were treated to multiple trips to distant laundromats and picturesque, sky-high piles of unwashed clothes. And many fun hours on the phone, sending emails, and awaiting the repairman, who by now seems like a member of the family.
On June 6, 2010 I bought an LG wm2301hr washer from Best Buy. Today we found that this washer had a slow leak in a faulty valve at the top of this unit that must have been leaking for a while. It was just a slow steady drip for a long time until today 3-2-2012. The way we found was that there’s a moldy smell in the closet behind the wash room with lots of black mold growing under the baseboards. Now, we have ruined carpet, ruined clothes, ruined sheetrock and baseboards and a washer that I have to fix myself. I expected a lot more quality for an $1100.00 washer. Best Buy said sorry. LG said sorry out of warranty. Wow, with the water dripping on the motor, I don’t even know if the machine is safe to put back in service. Any help would be great!
I love my LG washing machine. Works well. BUT it is the very first washing machine I have ever had that rusted where the soap, fabric softner and bleach is dispensed. I contacted LG and they never returned my call or contacted me in any way. At this rate my machine will rust out before anything else goes wrong.
We bought our LG front load model WM2487HRM in 2008 and about 6 months after, it started shaking so bad that our whole house would shake. My husband put some vibration pads under the feet and these seem to help for a long time. However, the mold and regular cleaning has been terrible. In the last year, we have been using only the low spin with only using light loads. This seems to elevate the washer moving a foot, however, it now moves about a foot with all three. The low spin, only putting in half load or less with the pads under the feet as well. There are other problems too. The washer will leak from the front. The washer will sometimes not get the soap into the drum. We have tried all of these options because the set cost $3,200.00, which is ridiculous considering our problems. It will cost $800.00 to $1,200.00 to fix and at this point, we will wait and buy another. But not the same brand.
Well, this is the first and LAST LG product Ill ever have. Waveforce top loader WT-5001CW. The consumer reports at the time we purchased the washer were good, but I guess only for the time they got any ink. After only three years this thing, like all the others reviewed here, throws up the UE (uneven) trouble code, and smells like a sweaty billy goat even with routine cleaning/preventative maintenance. Our clothes also have the same odor after being washed in this contraption, especially the towels. The first recall reprogramming was done shy of a year after delivery, so we never got to see it self destruct, although now I kind of wish it had because it would have at least provided some good entertainment considering how much this pos cost!! $800 for any sort of appliance that cant make it even 3 years without repairs, and cant perform the tasks it claims to = LEMON in my book. But the worst part of it all is, the company contracted to repair it is either heavily burdened with fixing these overgrown paperweights, or horribly understaffed, because theres apparently a two-week window in between each time they can get to me to diagnose and repair, with parts having to be sent from some God-forsaken dirt stain way out somewhere! Maybe I should feel fortunate that so far we havent been duped into dumping more money into this HE pit, but I shouldnt be having to take off from work for bs like this; I still lose money if I dont go to work, right?! Im firmly starting to believe that there is nothing new thats worth owning. Maybe you should too! LG should be BOYCOTTED for their transgressions against the consumers, and manufacturing should be brought back to AMERICA!
We purchased a LG front load washer about ten years ago and it has performed flawlessly. I did a good bit of research before buying this washing machine. I wanted a direct drive and not a belt driven machine so as to not have to worry about a belt wearing out. As far as the musky smell a lot of people complain about with front load machines, all you need to do is leave the door open a few inches so the moisture can evaporate and we have never had a problem. Our LG machine cleans our clothes very nicely and with the high speed spin our clothes come out with very little moisture in them.
After looking at a few different brands and asking the sales person questions about the two different brands and the options on both we made the decision to purchase the front load steel drum LG. The size is perfect and while the space didnt permit the two in one option it is still awesome and it works great for all different washes including comforters. I couldnt be happier with it and as a bonus once my husband learned how to use it he does laundry now.
I have the top loading LG washer without the agitator. I hate it. My clothes come out in a tangled mess every time I wash them, so much so that some of my clothes have ripped and have holes. This has been going on from day one, I purchased it 5 years ago, I wish I had returned it. I even open it during the rinse cycle and untie and untangle them and by the end of the cycle they are all twisted up again!! I will never buy another washer like this again. Give me back the agitator. I have never minded doing laundry but with this problem I dread it.
This unit really fits into the flow of the kitchen. Shelf height is adjustable and easy to accomplish. Very helpful with holidays and entertaining. Great supply of ice, easy to use door dispenser for fast access. Easy to see what is in the ref. even when fully loaded.
We bought our LG washing machine in May of 2014. It has never worked right from the beginning. I would have to watch it closely to restart it when it would go into the IE mode. I would have to press the start button twice to get it to resume washing. I had a tech come out to my house today to check it and he said the computer board needed replaced at the amount of $350.00. I told him I would rather buy a new machine instead of fixing it because it was the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. He also said he has fixed many with the same or similar problem. Ill never buy another one.
I find the cycles take a long time to run through and the clothes are not always clean. I have had to add extra cleaners to the washer to get large loads clean. When I add borax it doesnt always rinse out and I need to go back and rewash the load. The fact that it takes so long to do one large load is frustrating.
Bought a LG washer. It leaked. I have 2 different warranties. One with LG and one with Leons. Nobody wants to replace this machine. It is not even a year old. My insurance company has even said not my fault and paid me for floor damages to the amount of $8314.48 plus my $1,000 deductible. But I still have a broken machine. Never buy LG or shop at Leons furniture. Their warranty cost me an extra $199.95 on top of the machines cost. Tell me what good is warranty if nobody stands by it.
This washer has many problems. The timer gets stuck. It will say it has 30 minutes until finished, but 20 minutes later, it still says it has 30 minutes to go. It does not get clothes clean. Clothes get tangled in a ball, then the machine gets unbalanced. But, worst of all, I have had many things ruined - they come out with what looks like bleach spots and I dont use bleach. I dont know what causes that problem. I wish I had never bought this machine.
Unbalanced Flaw UE - LG Front Loader Extra Capacity - Paid way too much to get extra capacity - would love to have my basic front loader back! Extra capacity is worthless if you cant get the load to spin & finish because of the UE code. Ive had to throw away pillows I washed. No problem in my last machine, because this way overpriced LG wouldnt spin it - not alone, not with other items, not after being wrung out, hung to drip dry, not on low spin - NOTHING. The True Balancer is a joke - it is directly causing the problem. What good is an EXTRA CAPACITY washing machine, if you cant wash more than a normal load in it anyway? The time Ive wasted standing in front of this machine, hoping *this time* it would spin, rebalancing items by hand - makes me sick to think how much we paid for this piece of junk. Good luck with customer service - they said there is no recall even though there is post after post of the same UE complaint, and they *might* call me back once the customer service person logs my complaint. Never asked me for any contact info so Im not sure how that will happen...
Front load washer makes loud tapping noise during spin cycle. The noise is so loud you cant talk on phone, watch TV or have a conversation while the washer is on. I leave the house whenever I wash. LG techs tell me thats normal for a front loader. I cannot believe a company would make something so loud.
Bought an LG top load washing machine. True Balance is a joke. This has been the worst washer I have ever purchased. I made the mistake of not returning it immediately. Because it was very different than your typical agitator machine I didnt realize how bad it was until I began getting the constant UE code. My water and electricity bills have increased because of the constant filling and running in an attempt to balance the load. Bought it from Home Depot. LG has no service people in my area. Can you believe it - they sell the darn machines in my area but no service. I cannot believe this machine hasnt been recalled. My next step is to march down to Home Depot and see if they will make it right because LG and their foreign customer service people dont care. I will never purchase anything made by them again.
I have problems with the washing machine timer and the water inlet.
I like the fact that the machine has a sensor that adjust water based on the size of the load. It is over 5 years old with no problems. It cleans good and there are no issues with the spin cycle regardless of the type of load.
Purchased thinking this washing machine was a quality product but the washer started leaking from the bottom in less than 2 years. The warranty only covers 1 year so we have to pay the flat fee of $199 to have someone come out and assess or agree to pay the parts and labour. We will never buy an LG appliance again!
Unhappy at first, there wasnt sufficient water filling the machine. The result was that the clothes had a musty smell, they were simply not clean. The solution was quite simple; however, it may not be found in their user book. Beneath the top of the washer, there is an upright screw mounted on top of one of the sensors. There is only one screw that may be turned, hence, you cannot go wrong on this. Take a Phillips head screwdriver and turn the screw 1/2 turn clockwise. This tells the water sensor to allow in more water. Caution: Do not turn it a full turn or you will have too much water. Now Im happy. There is ample water in the machine and the clothes come out refreshingly clean. In this day, when everyone is going green, LG thought it prudent to just dampen your clothes and thereby save 3 gallons of water during each load. The result of going green, caused clothes to come out of the wash still soiled and smelly. Wash these a few times more and they smell even worse. LG should wise up. Important note: The top of the washer should not be pried off as it will bend the retaining metal. Pull the machine out, unscrew the holding screws in the back top of the lid. Then pull the lid back towards the rear about 1, the lid may then be lifted up. The LG front-loading washer works wonders with ample water. Adjust the water sensor and enjoy clean clothes.
Already had the repairman here once before the warranty expired. Now warranty is expired, and the machine is still not performing well. Takes 3 hours for one load of wash. It was the most expensive washer in Home Depot when I bought it about 2 years ago. Ill never buy another LG product.
Bought this Washer sometime in 2011 and since about 2 months after we bought it, it has a mold build up around the front gasket! Called LG and they said you have to clean the front gasket and keep it clear every few days or after a few loads as it blocks the drain. We started cleaning the front gasket and kept using the clean drum feature with bleach and still kept building up MOLD. Now I see that other people are having the same problem as me. Thanks LG. Will NEVER buy a LG product again.
I have had an extremely unsatisfactory experience with my 5 year old LG front loading washing machine. In the beginning it was a mildew odor in the unit. Did a few loads with bleach and wiped around rubber sealant weekly. The clothes do not seem clean to me. I have adjusted the water levels, amount of detergent, the cycle is way over an hour and the results are not good. The control panel shut down and now I have to spend $500 to replace it. I would never recommend this product.
Updated on 05/18/2020: In a previous post, I reported my washer disaster. A week ago, I heard from LG (Louis) indicating they would provide a new washer in 5-7 days and was asked for proof of purchase etc. I provided that info. Since that time, no contact from LG and they never provided me with contact information. So I sit waiting for them to contact me or reply once again through Consumer Affairs. LG, if you are reading this, please contact me.Original review: After 7 years of mostly uneventful washing experience, my machine suddenly blew apart. My machine was running through a spin cycle and suddenly, there were loud crashing and banging noises, the machine flew across the floor approximately 2 1/2 - 3 feet and the door blew open. The tub appears to have come loose, smashed into the front and sides of the machine. The front of the machine has large protruding dents, the side handles were blown out and the side dented, and small parts flew out. The door wont even close because of the large protruding dents. Thank goodness that we were not in the laundry room as we would have sustained injuries for sure. I am aghast at the force and danger that this machine caused.
I just wanted to say that the LG washing machine is horrible. I will never buy anything from algae ever again. I have been trying to do a load of laundry for three hours, and I am still not done. The washing machine keeps screwing up repeatedly almost every time I use it. I am trying to use only the spin cycle but it keeps refilling with water and draining. It makes no sense.
I purchased the above appliance from Sears about 4-5 years ago (need to find the receipt to be accurate) and it has been a nightmare. I have used many boxes of the cleaning product made by Tide to deodorize and contacted a serviceman (at my additional expense) who instructed me to use bleach (only to discover the bleach dispenser is not dependable), remove the entire dispensing tray after each day of laundry, dry the door seal and inside of machine, and leave the door ajar when not in use...... I continue to have a problem with a sickening smell emanating from my clean laundry. I am quite convinced that this washing machine does not clean my laundry...... Whites are grey to beige! Very often, I find wads of soap in towels which I believe is due to an inadequate amount of water. An answer to this aggravating and unhealthy problem would be wonderful. Thank you.
I love my LG washer. It’s self-adjustment for water levels based on load is a water saver. However, the ability to increase the water level manually if wanting a greater rinse still gives me control over my laundry. With its many available washing options, one doesn’t have to “think” each time a load Is added; if I’m washing towels, I just choose the “Towel” option and the machine does the rest. My spin cycle is extremely effective, making the drying time a minimal. Last, the size of the tub is large enough for a thin blanket. This is nice when needing to wash stored bed coverings prior to winter use. The only con I might have is getting the message “uneven load” and of acing to stop the machine and adjust the wet items. This usually happens if I have a mix load of unlike weights.
I have purchased a new LG 6.5 fully automatic washing machine. Within 1 month, the machine started with abnormal noise and wobbling. I filed a complaint, and a technician came, but he could not resolve the complaint, and during repairs, the broken back side sheet and hooks of the machine. I, again, lodged a complaint. My complaint number is RNA 120120039141. Please resolver this problem, otherwise give my money back.
My LG washing machine has been a joke. I can not get the stinky smell out of my clothes. It is just gross. I have done everything people at the stores have told me to do, no success at all. Never will buy an LG again.
Well, we are now scheduled for the 13th time for a certified LG tech to come look at my washer that doesnt work. This is the replacement machine for the first one that didnt work. After several calls to LGs 800 #, I was transferred to Robert in the executive call center (ha ha). At least he spoke English. He acted like he was concerned about the problem I was having and was going to help get it resolved. He talked to their techs, called the local service company, claimed to have had parts sent out and a service appointment scheduled. I was to receive a call when the parts arrived (2-3 days) to schedule a time that would be convenient for me (ha ha). Well, its been 4 days and no call, so I called the local service company and they had received nothing from LG. They had a call but nothing had been scheduled, no parts sent, and no authorization for service. Surprise, surprise, surprise!I called LG again, asked for Robert, and instead I got some silly girl that did not have a clue. I insisted that I wanted to speak to Robert and was finally transferred to him. I am not sure if it was the person I spoke with before but this time it was a new story. No parts were being ordered. They would have the tech come look at the machine and go from there. So it will be another week with a broken washing machine. It took 6 hours to do 2 loads of laundry. The machine continues to think it had an unbalanced load and fill to the top with water. Never really washes clothes, just fills, jiggles and few minutes, drains and starts over. Definitely energy efficient!
We had this washing machine for at least 10 years. The only problem that I found with the machine was when we lived in FL there was a problem with it stinking but on the West Coast we havent had that problem. We have only had it repaired once and my husband was able to do it after watching a video on YouTube.
Update on 06/11/2020: It is now June 11th and there still is no resolve even though my original review states there is a resolution in process. It is true that LG reached out to me as shown below however, I responded to them and I have heard nothing back. As far as Im concerned, this reaching out with a form e-mail is just more of the same. If I could give LG zero stars I would.Original Review: I have a top of the line washer that is still under warranty that will not run. I called LG on 5/30 and it was determined by them someone needed to come to my home. I was assigned to a second rate authorized agent that operates out of his home. I called this agent on 6/2 because I never heard from them during the 24-48 business hour time frame. (It was at this point that I did some research on who they were and found bad reviews for them.) To make a very long story short I was promised on 6/2 that a reputable company I found would be assigned to me and it would be 24-48 hours before Id hear. I found this company on LGs website as an authorized service agent and when I called them directly, they informed me they were available to come out the next day if LG would assign it to them. As I said, LG promised this would be done. When I heard nothing, I called them once again on 6/4. I spoke with a very nice rep (her name was Jess) who transferred me to executive services and I was told by that lady that the company I requested had no availability. I informed her that I had been told they would be able to come out the following day if LG would assign it to them and this is what was supposed to be being done. When I asked her to hold for a minute, I placed a call to the company I requested and as I began leaving a message as to what I had been told by LG, the LG executive services lady hung up on me. She was able to hear me leaving this message as I was using a separate phone line. So, this morning I called the authorized agent and told them what I had been told (that they had no availability) and I was told that simply was not true. So, I called LG back and this time I was told by the authorized agent I spoke with didnt have an open contract with them and they couldnt be assigned to me. Finally, the truth! In other words, they didnt have a negotiated rate with LG, much like it is with HMO Insurance. At any rate, he contacted the authorized to see if they would agree to make my repair with just an order # and they agreed they would, however, LG has to send them the amount they are willing to pay and if the authorized agent agrees to it they will do the repair and if not, we are back to square one. So, they have till Monday (6/8) to get back with me however, they will only be contacting me if its a go. If not, I have to call them back and start all over. I have a feeling I will be calling them back to start at square one. LIFE certainly isnt GOOD! I purchased this machine based on Consumer Reports testing and we were just about to buy an LG Smart TV and soundbar because they also have a very high rating. But there is no way we are going to based solely on the fact that they have horrible customer service!
Large enough washer to accommodate many items big and small, features make it easy to use. I love that the amount of water used is determined by the size of the load. I dont like that it doesnt have an agitator, but after standing and watching it cycle, Im confident is does it without it. If it had an agitator, this would be 5 star to me.
When I load my laundry into the tub and ask for HOT water, I expect a hot water wash. Never going to happen in this machine. I called technician thinking it could be fixed and was told the default hot temperature is 91 degrees! Thats like taking a COLD shower! Why? Some laundry needs hot water! I tried turning the cold water off and the tub drains! Not only that, I have a window I can watch my clothes through and the clothes on top never do cycle to the bottom or anywhere else. They stay right on top. The drum, clothes & water go right, stops, goes left, stops, agitates very little and repeats the process 3 times. How is that going to clean clothes?! The stains on top of pile never get agitated through the water. I am ready to throw this thing in the garbage because that is exactly what it is! Never another LG product in my house again! Worst product I have ever had the misfortune to buy and it was pricey to boot! Have hated it since day one!
I, too cleaned it the way the manufacturer said... Smell still there... Bought the cleaner. It said for very bad smell use the clean cycle, with the special cleaner. I got 1 load without a smell, next load the smell is so bad I light candles in the room. I’ve even used the extra rinse hoping to push the water out of the machine...and I waited 2 months for this machine because I wanted the granite color. Don’t understand. First full year no problem. Now it’s terrible. Don’t know what to do. My husband & I are retired & don’t generate much laundry so this is VERY annoying???
0 stars ! We have had the LG front loading washer for several years and have tried all tricks to get rid of the moldy smell, like leaving the door open when not in use, to no avail. The repair man suggested we run a bleach load first to help kill the smell prior to doing the other loads, or just run it empty with bleach prior to using it. We bought it for its efficiency, not to waste energy! We have reached the end of our rope with this washer and feel it is irresponsible to even give it away due to the health concerns.
We purchased the LG Smart Drum thinking this was a great investment. It was the worst decision we made. It takes hours to wash one load. It constantly errors with UE no matter what load is in there. Even during the clean tub cycle where they recommend nothing in the washer. We have to constantly reload heavy wet clothes to rebalance eventually have to go directly to the spin cycle and shutting off the water just to get it over with. I am lucky to get two loads of laundry done in one whole damn day.I cant get anything else accomplished because I am babysitting a damn washer. It has caused so much frustration among our entire family because no one can get their laundry done and over in a reasonable amount of time. I am going out this weekend and buying a new washer. It wont be a LG thats for sure. From all the other reviews it appears the washer is a lemon and LG knows it but they dont care. Also, the app they say you can get is not available either. They should be sued for falsely claiming things this washer can do and it doesnt. True balance my butt... this machine is the worst. Buyers beware. You will be sorry.
Purchased the LG Tromm Front Load Washer and Dryer. Home Depot is no help and Tromm is no help. Terrible customer service! Five towels take four cycles to dry!!
The top-loading washer is less than 2 years old. 2 senior citizens have been using it minimally. The supposed motherboard has crashed. The technician says it ends in the numbers 501 and should be 701, so it needs an upgrade. Called LG and they said so sad, I didnt purchase an extended warranty. I need to PAY to have a defective washer fixed?? I can see if it was something I had abused, or if was used excessively, but this is a DEFECT. Anyone else have any success getting LG to own up?
There is always a better one but the normal common person cannot afford it. Does a good job if you always use the proper detergents and the amount as required and do not overload. The drying cycles could be a bit longer.
My 7100 series LG top load washer is awesome! I had a very expensive Bosch front loader that sounded like a jet all during the spin cycle (even on the low setting), and it grew mold. This LG is quiet and the tub is huge. I am very pleased.
Our 4 year old LG front load washing machine started making a lot of noise during the spin cycle. We contacted LG who referred us to call an Authorized LG repairman. Well after a $100.00 service call that lasted about 30 minutes, we were told that the drum bearings were bad and not covered under the warranty and the machine would probably not be worth repairing.I will never buy another LG appliance again. It’s no wonder why LG has such a low rate of repairs on Consumer Reports magazine because their machines are not worth repairing!
I bought a front load LG washing Machine. I unplugged the machine when I heard it making a kind of grinding sliding noise. To me it sounded like the belt broke. I called a local repairman to come see about the washer. He told me he could not help me because LG is a brand name out of Korea and its very hard to order parts for these type of machines. He told me none of the local repair guys will come fix it and if they did they would charge a lot. He told me to call the warranty company, but my warranty ran out already. I had no idea LG was a Korean name brand. I will never purchase another LG, anything.
Terrible experience with this washer and LG who would not pay for service even under warranty. If you buy this self-balancing washer, expect to remain nearby to redistribute any load that contains at least one towel, one pair of jeans or one terry cloth robe until the load is done.
I have contacted LG on many occasions. At least 10 times. I have called them, and emailed them. My washing machine blew apart after 6 years into a 10 year warranty. I simply receive messages “someone will get back to you “. They never have.
Bought a new LG top load washer in 2011. It started leaking after a few years then the main board burned up. Smells terrible. Not going to waste any time or money to even attempt to fix it. Hopefully I can find a better brand.
I received an LG front load washer at 12 noon today. I did the first load which spewed soapy water on the floor. I did subsequent small loads with no overflow. The dispensers retain clear water after cycle completed. I contacted LG to question why the water remains in the dispensers and why the overflow. I was informed that I used too much soap which caused the overflow. This is my second LG, and I am no dummy. I know how to fill the soap dispenser to the normal or max levels using HE products. The response from LG is We only recommend 2 tbs for a big load. I measured the amount of liquid to fill to the normal mark which is 5 tbs and to the max level which is 7 tbs.I explained this to the LG rep and the response was, We have already sent this numerous times to the designers. WHAT??? They know about the problem, continue to produce the product using the same improper guides in the manual and intuitively, the consumer follows the dispenser level marks and provide no ALERT to consumer!!! Of course, I still needed to know about the clear water remaining in the dispensers. That is normal. The dispenser dispenses by overfilling the drawer, that is shy there is water remaining at the end. Of course! We all want stagnated water to sit in the drawer possibly turning moldy and smelly to be dispensed into the next load of wash! I am absolutely incredulous! How can a manufacturer possibly continue to produce and sell such a subpar product? I was pleased with my last LG that performed well for 6 years and recently started to overflow and would not pump the water adequately out of the washer. Not wanting to put money into repairs, I foolishly elected to purchase a new and improved LG washer. What kind of fool am I?
I am truly disappointed with my LG washer model WT487OC. I purchased it approx 61 months ago, and yes my 48 months protection plan expired. The machine began to exhibit a problem 3 months ago when after a wash load, there was a noticeable debris on the damp clothing which led to concerns before drying the load. After a few calls to LG Customer Service and a discussion with Rocket Appliance Repair who LG suggested I call. It was determined that the machine somehow had developed mold internally. I tried over 10 different options that LG & THEIR REPAIR SERVICED suggested I attempt, but to no avail. The machine was considered unrepairable. In over 40 years of cleaning and purchasing household appliances I have never experienced anything like this. I will never buy LG appliances again, and any I presently own I will seek replacements for as soon as possible.
LG True Steam Washing Machine is a piece of junk! I had problems from the get go (bought in 2010). All of the complaints that I have read are valid. I too take care to leave machine open to dry and clean tub on clean cycle with bleach once a month. I use the correct detergent and amount and even periodically use the refresh tablets in the machine. I have also spent money on service calls. I never had even one problem with my cheaper top load models. But this one sure looks good! Who cares! I just want a washing machine that cleans our clothes well and is problem free. This machine is a zero.
It had a leaking Tromm front loader. This ruined my 180 sq. ft. of ash hardwood flooring costing approximately $2000.00. After the floor was replaced and a pan placed under the machine, I have noticed that it fills up about once a week. This leak is coming from the dispenser tray! I noticed water and soap residue on the inside of the front panel that had also caused the door hinge to start rusting. After closer inspection of the dispenser during operation, I can see water hitting the angled section of the tray and running over the side. LG said a repair tech would have to fix this, but without a newly designed part, it will just do the same thing again. This is not caused by too much soap as some might suggest because it does this with or without adding soap! The only solution I see is to buy another brand after spending over $1000.00 a year for a poorly designed product.
Dont buy the LG High Capacity expensive washer. It doesnt clean your clothes, musty/wet dog smell. It doesnt fill with enough water to wash a hand towel. It calls for less soap, but sometimes the soap doesnt dispense all. Every load gets the UE code, uneven load and you have to open and shuffle clothes so wash time is over an hour and half. Was told by friends to pour vinegar in every load, or add bleach every time you wash, leave the lid open or mold grows in it!So I had LG rep visit and here is what I was told. Do not fill to line as specified, only 2 tablespoons of detergent, no more. You cannot wash a load too large, only a medium, fill clothes only half way. You CANNOT wash large towels, blankets or comforters in these washers. You have to add white vinegar. Leave the top open always or mold will grow. Every month you need to press tub clean and add special cleaning tablets. So basically, this efficient washer saves on water and detergent, but you have to spend your money on vinegar, cleaning tablets and dry cleaner for bulky items. Then he added this kicker: Blame the government because they have high restrictions on making washers more efficient for environment, they have to make them work bad. Apparently, the European LG washer is awesome, no restrictions. Go back to Sears, buy a Kenmore with an agitator and have clean clothes.
Our direct drive, load self-balancing, year and a half old machine has been exhibiting all the unbalanced load problems frequently mentioned in reviews that I found after my wife told me that she keeps getting EU code indicating an unbalanced load which she redistributes by hand, followed by standing over the machine and holding it as steady as possible in order to finish the loads. When I tried to change the spin speed to low, the machine spun as fast as ever. After reading the other reviewers experience with LGs customer relations I intend to go out tomorrow and buy a non-LG washing machine and try to support any class action lawsuits that are inevitable (I hope). Maybe after their exploding cell phone problems are over, they will take care of their appliance customers. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, it seems as if LG didnt do their due diligence when it comes to product testing prior to bringing to market.
