Belt broke in inside under tub after 13 months $150. Now another year and I am getting an error message F51 and it stops washing. I'm done. Old Maytag lasted 14 years. This is done in 2. I'm not paying any more to have it fixed for whatever F51 is. I'm cutting my losses now. Hate this machine the way it washes anyway. Always feel like it's gonna take off for Mars to join Matt Damon. HA. I try to laugh to stop being mad. Don't buy these. It gets no stars. And after reading other reviews, it deserves none. Shame on this company! Ugh, it's making me put a star rating. After two years of dealing with this awful washer, I felt compelled to write a review. I have had $50 rebuilt washing machines, as well as new ones from the bargain aisle. They worked very well for us. But when it was time to purchase a new one, we wanted a washer with a larger capacity and ended up with this boobie prize. Honestly, whoever designed this washing machine should be ashamed. I cannot believe it made it past the testing stage! Blankets and quilts roll into a ball and never get clean, detergent gets trapped inside this ball of doom, the simplest dirt on clothes survive the cycles, and forget trying to clean stains. I scrub them out, then use the rinse cycle. JUST AWFUL!!! Honestly, this is THE WORST and most disappointing purchase I have ever made. Stay away from it.

LG WT487OCW top loading washing machine - Purchased 7 months ago. Since day one the machine gave constant signals of being "out of balance". We constantly have to restart the machine extending washing time to an average of 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The diagnostic system built into the machine is not helpful. It diagnosed a different problem and could not correct it. Currently it dispenses water during the spin cycle, again extending the total cycle due to having to restart the machine. Customer service did reply with a warranty repair that is pending. In contact with the servicing contractor who stated that software problems with this machine are common and a "motherboard and flywheel" may be the needed repair. We will see.

Purchased this machine in Jan 2012. From the start, dark clothes came out with white streaks on them. Thought I was doing something wrong - kept using machine. Then started noticing my whites coming out looking very dingy, light tan stains on them. Called Whirlpool and was told to use Affresh tablets to CLEAN my washer - why should you have to clean a washing machine?Several weeks ago noticed machine getting very loud during spin cycles - and I mean loud! Sounds like a jet engine taking off in my basement. Called repairman - he listened to my machine and said noise is the bearings, seal not fitting properly around bearings and the grease for bearings is slowly leaking out into my wash cycles. Explains the dingy whites and spots on darks. Said he just worked on a Cabrio with same issue - had to rebuild seal and bearings - about a $450 job. After reading all these reviews, decided not to attempt to fix this machine. Going to scrap it and start over. $900 for 3 yrs of an inadequate washing machine!! Whirlpool should be made accountable for this inadequate product to all of us consumers who threw away hard-earned money. Reading up on the Speed Queen agitator model. Lots of good reviews. Think I will go back to the old tried and true way of washing clothes.

I purchased Whirlpool washer in Dec.2017 and used it in winter months only (Nov to March). It kept leaking and had to get appliance repair service for $50 and was told that machine is defective and whirlpool should repair it or replace it. I phoned whirlpool and they told me I have to use their appliance repair shop to evaluate the machine for cost of $130. The inlet valve was leaking and needed replacement for a cost of $253.55 and whirlpool shirked all and any responsibility. Don't buy whirlpool as it is not a good product and service is poor.

I purchased my 2nd Maytag Neptune washer in 2005 to replace an early Neptune that was complete junk. This one worked OK until this year when it began to make awful noises. After research, I decided it was the bearings that failed. I took the unit apart to get to the bearings and found out the entire outer tub must be replaced not just the bearings, at a cost of $515. What lousy engineering, the bearings don't come out of the housing. No wonder Maytag repairmen are so bored. There is nothing to fix, you just buy a new washer. I won't buy Maytag this time.

The Kenmore washer is easy to use, seldom needs repair, used mine 14 years, never had any reason to complain, do recommend service policy, attractive in my laundry room, large drum, and dries large loads. I had a large family and usually did four loads a day, seven days a week, extra large loads always got clean and dry. Matching set never let me down, easy to load and use, had cycles to do what I wanted it to do. The matched set always looked like they belonged in a store showcase. Laundry room on first floor, no sense trying to hide in basement. Proud to own them! I have been married over 50 years and this was my third matched Kenmore set. Never let me down! Prices were always below or comparable to any other brand. Anytime I wanted or needed 1 or 2 set, I went to Sears to buy Kenmore because I consider them to be the best.

Bought the top-loading 'Inverter Direct Drive' about 3 years ago. This is the biggest POS appliance we have ever owned! Washer gets unbalanced with almost every load - no matter how small or large. It takes a LONG time to wash any load. The display may say that it's a 52-minute load. That's ONLY if you monitor it getting unbalanced or shutting off completely. It mostly gets unbalanced at 34 minutes remaining and at 11 minutes remaining. Unless you use the bulky setting, you get next to NO water in the tub. And the very WORST PART is that it has RUINED countless shirts, pants, and shorts. It will put dark, short streaks (stains) ON YOUR CLOTHES THAT YOU CANNOT GET OUT. We have washed the Maxine-stained items up to six times using a wide variety of stain removers and NOTHING works. We wound up throwing items away after this machine stained them. Now we turn everything inside out. We hope to be moving soon and will GLADLY leave this machine behind. What a HORRIBLE appliance!!!
