We purchased a cabrio washer about 3 years ago and have had trouble with coins getting into the drain pump and cracking it. We have repaired this at least 5 times and dont understand why the washer allows this to happen. Yes we do accidentally leave coins in our clothes but we have not had this problem with other washers. Clothes also have odor.

Bought this washer in 2013 for close to $800. About a year and half old it got real loud sounds like a freight train. Asked whirlpool repairman about it, and was told it is a main bearing going out. He said it would cost over $500 to fix it. Whirlpool warranty sucks - only one year. Called whirlpool, told them the problem and asked if this is a problem with this washer. Got told no they have no problems with it. Found out later not only do they have this problem with it they change design because of it. Repairman said his own daughter had same problem and he had many service calls on this model all with same problem. WHIRLPOOL WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE PRODUCT WHICH IS A MANUFACTURE DEFAULT. It sets in our house unusable. I will never buy a whirlpool product again. Sad because that use to be all I would buy.

Purchased this washer new 2015 for use in our cabin. Now 4 years later with very little use the motor has seized. Washer is useless. What happened to 20 years of almost daily use and still runs great. This washer is a very poor quality washer and has now failed. Please save your money and buy a different brand.

This is a horrible washing machine. All the clothes (and I mean small loads, medium loads, large loads) come out twisted and so wrinkled. I have never seen anything like it. I dont machine dry many items and so everything not dried that way has to be ironed. Also, there is white residue of some kind left on the clothes so the extra rinse must be used. How is that energy and water-saver sufficient? Again, the government EPA in its brilliance has screwed up another product. It also takes much longer to wash clothes, again, energy efficient? After reading the wasted time on other reviews of talking to Whirlpool, I didnt even bother contacting them. HE front loaders (which we had a Samsung that lasted 1 1/2 years before breaking down) and replaced by this top loading HE, are the worst. Give me back my old fashioned washer.

We bought our washer (Whirlpool Cabrio) from a rent to own company about 2 years ago, and finally got it paid off. About a week ago, the lid started sticking when it was done washing. I went to open it last night to start some laundry, and it BROKE. Now theres a piece stuck in the bottom part of the lock, and the washer wont start. Anyone else have this issue?

I purchased a Duet Dryer less than a year ago and it stopped working. Got the warranty people to send someone to diagnose it. The repair person ordered two parts to fix it (they took the control panel off the order for some reason). They sent a second inept person to try and install the part they did send and it did not work (He was the most condescending person I have ever met but that is another story.). Of course it did not work and they actually have to replace the control panel AND the electrical panel (which as you know was ordered by the original tech, but taken off the order by who knows?). Now they are telling me that the part that they should have ordered 2 weeks ago is on back order until sometime in May. All I am getting from Whirlpool is lip service and they honestly do not care one tiny little bit that I have a dryer under warranty that will not have been working now for close to six weeks. This is unacceptable business practices. For the record I bought the unit at LOWES and they too refuse to stand behind the product. Basically told me tough they have nothing to do with it. I also purchased an $8000 Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) Refrigerator 5 years ago and the control panel went out about 4 years later. They stopped making the part and I have to THROW away an $8000 refrigerator because they dont make the part for it. As evidenced above, Whirlpool products do not stand the test of time and when they do break (even under warranty), they cannot fix them in a timely manner or at all in the case of the refrig (not under warranty). I caution every reader of this diatribe to choose wisely WHERE you purchase your appliances and carefully select a brand other than Whirlpool (and its brand affiliates of Kitchenaid, Jenn-air, Amana and certain Kenmore products).

I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator about 1 1/2 years ago. Mechanically it works fine, but many places on the outside are showing small rust, circular rust spots. Looks like the refrigerator has the measles. I dont think ordinary paint will cure the problem since it looks like the rust is coming through from the inside of the door. Any ideas as to what will cure the appearance and keep the rust hidden????

I bought a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator four years ago, June 2012. Today, 9/20/16, I found out that the ice maker has to be replaced to the tune of $350! The repair person told me that Whirlpool has the worst track record, and of his service calls, he has at least three to five Whirlpool refrigerators per week! This is a terrible lack of quality. When youre spending over $2,000 for a refrigerator, you expect it to work for more than four years. Not only that, but I have e-mailed Whirlpool Customer Service twice and have been ignored completely. This is my last Whirlpool product, and I urge you to stay away from them. Samsung has a much better track record.

We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator (WRT5L1SMYF00) in April 2012. Within 2-1/2 months, items were freezing on the shelves of the fridge box. I called Lowes & was told to call Whirlpool. I did as suggested & they sent out their service co. tech, Turner Consumer Services. I had all the same issues as everyone else in these reviews. i.e., food freezing where it shouldnt or spoiling when the stat was turned down even one notch. The staff at Whirlpool was as uncooperative as is possible. They smiled and lied to my face during phone calls - anything to get me off the phone. During the next 4 months (till Nov.), techs came out 5 times, never having the part needed on the truck. Always, it was my fault somehow that my stuff was freezing. Their chosen tech service employees were rude, condescending and without knowledge. Five service calls, 3 parts replaced and numerous calls to Turner & Whirlpool got me nothing but stalling tactics. I, too, was told that their tech had to fail the appliance before they could consider replacement - all lies. The tech, when he gets here, says hes not allowed to fail the unit. On the 11th of Nov., I awoke to totally frozen-up coils which kept the fridge box from cooling. We had company here from out of town. We moved out the new fridge, moved back in our 21-yr-old unit and got through till our visitors left. Whirlpool has been completely unresponsive to my appeals for some relief from this fiasco. I continue to receive requests from Whirlpool to purchase an extended warranty. Really? My husband & I went out to Sears and purchased a GE & have had no issues with it whatsoever. We are older, on a fixed income, and can ill afford to purchase 2 fridges in 7 months, not that Whirlpool cares. Not only will I never buy another Whirlpool product, but I will warn everyone possible to not buy from them. In fact, my intention is to use every possible forum, Facebook, Twitter, any & all review sites here in KC, MO or anywhere to put Whirlpool down. I am, however, considering one more expense - a lawyer.

My old 25 yr old Whirlpool died and was shopping for a new one. I saw the Cabrio and was really impressed by the features and large capacity interior. I can say that I thought my clothes were getting clean until I looked closely. I have never been so disappointed with this washer. I wish I had my old one back! Clothes arent clean, they are so twisted when I take them out and theres a horrible smell, like oil burning when it runs. The machine would fill up and when it would start to wash, it wouldnt, it would stop. And a loud humming noise was coming from the back.I shut it off and turned it back on and it wouldnt clear. I had to unplug it and plug it back in to clear it and start over. The bearings are gone now and I was going to have a repairman come and look at it, but now I wont bother! After reading everyones comments this Cabrio is a piece of junk and Im sorry I ever bought it! So now Ill be shopping for a new one tomorrow with an agitator!!! Im not impressed with the HE appliances!!! Ive owned this POS for not quite 6 yrs. Expensive to purchase and I will not recommend Whirlpool to anyone! Its sad that companies today make cheap products!! Built to last... ha!! Well never see those again!!

I have previously owned a Maytag washer for 16 years that went through three children. They are older now and two years ago I decided to buy a Whirlpool Cabrio for the upgrade and large capacity. Well just like every other customer that purchased these crappy machine, I now own one of the worst washers in the history of washing machines. It started about 13 months after I bought it and now is completely broken. I am so angry that I spent the amount of money I did to be so disappointed. I have not abused this washer and I can hardly believe the customer service or lack there of, that this company supports. I would hope that people do their research before ever purchasing a whirlpool anything. TERRIBLE COMPANY and my Cabrio is heading to the landfill.... Thanks Whirlpool. YOU SUCK!

ED5PHEXNK00 Stainless Steel side by side Refrigerator bought in 2004, look out!The refrigerator caught fire today and there was smoke everywhere. Had I not been home, damage would have been out of control. I traced the smoke to the bottom of the refrigerator. I pulled the unit out from the wall and unplugged the power to the unit. My unit is out of warranty and past the extended Lowes warranty. The repair diagnosis is $100 to start.Whirlpool has recalled its other brands (Maytag, etc.) for this same problem but not its Whirlpool brand. Our problem is the same problem with hundreds of other people: Whirlpool fridges burning, smoking, and being a life threatening hazard to families all over America because of the faulty relay to compressor. Whirlpool better recall this model. They need to fix this or they will have much bigger issues to deal with (corporate manslaughter from a known issue and no action or protection for its consumers). The refrigerator is a result of Whirlpool’s negligence; thus, it’s potentially deadly.

I bought a house 2 years ago that came equipped with all new Whirlpool kitchen appliances (refrigerator/freezer, stove top and dishwasher). A few months ago, the damper door in our refrigerator broke causing food in the refrigerator to freeze. Just the other day my Whirlpool dishwasher stopped draining properly. Both instances a repairman was needed and were now out over $400 for repairs and parts. The Whirlpool range has worked effectively and efficiently for over ten years. We have experienced no problems. It is used several times a day to prepare meals and bake items. The cook top gas burners ignite easily, provide equal flame distribution, and the oven has an air blowing feature that makes cooking and baking much easier. One reason we chose Whirlpool was because this brands stellar performance history, its appearance, and its functionality. Overall, we could not have selected a better appliance for our use. We can unequivocally state that was and still is a solid performer for its cost.

I had a Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01. Purchase 3/13/2010. I had repairman after repairman come to fix it. The last one probably saved my family and my house. The light in the back corner was not only blinking, but flashing rapidly, much like some wild party light. It eventually stopped. The freezer works perfectly fine, the fridge works when it wants to. The ice maker makes ice some days but not others. The motor on the ice dispenser is completely frozen up. Does that all sound about right? If it does, clean it out and cut the power to it before someone gets electrocuted or your house catches fire.If you cant find the electrical diagram, or the company wants $455 to answer your questions, look under the right side of the freezer draw, but not on the draw. Remove the guard on the very bottom of the unit, near the wheels on the right side. You will feel a plastic bag attached to the underside. Inside that bag is the complete diagram of all the wiring harnesses along with the schematic for the amps and voltages for each wire. Are they telling your circuit board is bad and you will need a new one? Before you do that, inside the fridge compartment, in between the water filter and the ice maker, remove the light cover. Notice that inside that space is the access to another panel. Remove that panel. BE SURE THERE IS NO POWER RUNNING TO THE UNIT FIRST. Here you will find a connection plug with more or less 15 wires that are connected to the main wiring harness. Above that plug you will find a holding chamber. This holding chamber contains water from the filter that is waiting to go to the ice maker. It has dripped condensation on the plug since the day you first turned on your fridge. Your wires are most likely broken and corroded. You will need to have your unit completely rewired, but because of the design flaw that fix will only buy you another 4-5 years. My Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01 left yesterday 5/15/2014 and none too soon.

I bought a Whirlpool fridge in 2014 and started having problems a year late
I bought a Whirlpool fridge in 2014 and started having problems a year later. It was making really loud noises and the fridge part wasnt working. All the food was warm. Of course there is no warranty on it after one year. I called a repairman and he said that the doors dont seal properly so the warm air is getting in causing condensation which freezes the engine/fan which is the cause of the loud noise. The reason why the upper fridge is warm is because the fan pushes the cold air up from the freezer, which of course wasnt working. Then I noticed that the frame at the bottom of the fridge is bending causing the freezer not to seal properly which would be the reason for warm air getting inside the fridge.

I purchased a Duet several years ago and did not have a clue as to the problems everyone was having. Over the course of ownership I called the city to determine if we had a sewer leak. I had a plumber inspect our pipes. I felt really stupid that it took me this long to figure out it was the washer. I knew it smelled like mildew and have been using vinegar, afresh, Clorox until I am blue in the face. I didnt figure out that the sewers smell was also the same as the washers until I got on line and read about these machines. Finally, I lifted up the gasket around the door and it was completely black with mold. No amount of afresh was going to fix this problem. Do not purchase these front loaders. Feel like they should have been recalled and I really dont understand why they are still in circulation. I have also been having health/breathing issues and I cant help but think the mold is causing my illness.

We purchased a new Whirlpool Refrigerator less than 3 years ago. The last couple of weeks the freezer hasnt been keeping cold enough. We lost about $300 worth of food in it. The refrigerator section isnt keeping as cold as it should. I call Whirlpool, but didnt have a warranty, so if I paid more money we could have a warranty and get it fixed. Who has that kind of money. When we purchased our appliances we thought we were buying good quality appliances. That sure isnt the case. They should last way longer than less than 3 years.I called where we purchased it from. Had the service man come out. There are four major parts that are wrong with it. $800 plus at least 3 hours of labor. Not worth that. Again who can afford such money as this. I called Whirlpool again. They could give me money off a new fridge but it would still cost almost $1600. Im so unhappy with the appliances. We also have a stove and that doesnt work right either. I believe that we should be compensated way more than they are offering. I would not buy another Whirlpool again. I will make sure people know that it isnt good quality. Im so sad. Who would have thought. It is time that the people at the top of the company think of those lower than they are. The people I spoke to on phone were very kind. I know they really cant do much. They are just the middle man so to speak.

So loud that when we are watching TV in the bedroom we have to close the door! It continued to get louder and more frequent so I called Sears. It is under warranty so they sent a repairman out. When he came, he said it was because we had the refrigerator too cold & it was causing ice to be stuck around the fan??? We had it at 5 and the coldest is 7... I came here to see if others have had problems with their Whirlpool Cabrio top load washers. I was amazed at how many others forked over nearly a grand ($1000 with tax and extended warranty) for such a heap of nothing. I have lived in the same house for over 35 years, same water supply with water softener. Over this time, I have raised my family and been lucky enough to only go through two washers until 2 years ago when I purchased this Whirlpool Cabrio machine at Lowes. As with others, clothes do not get cleaned. Residue is present and in the creases of the tightly spun and tangled load. After calling Whirlpool and Lowes on nearly day one of my original purchase, no concern was given. Instead, I received the What type of detergent or Could it be your water supply? or What degree of soil does your family have on their garments? A white terry cloth washcloth should not come out grey, even after bleach! My GE and Maytags of the past always did fantastic jobs. They just plain old wore out. As for my new energy efficient machine that takes 86 minutes to wash a load, with expensive HE detergent, an oxy clean pouch, special fabric softeners, I scratch my head wondering how can this be efficient? If a pair of jeans needs pre-soaking, it cant be done in this washer. Instead, I spray the jeans with pre-soak, add my HE products, then fill a mop bucket full of water and dump into the machine 5 minutes after the 86-minute session has started. What a joke! For two years plus, I have vented to my poor husband who thought he was buying me a new innovative state of the art machine to make my life easier. I only wish there was somewhere or someone that I could contact to get some satisfaction for my agony with this poor quality product! Yes, I am venting. I dont have another thousand dollars to spend for a new machine. Believe me, if there were to be a class action lawsuit for this lemon, I would be first to sign up!

Purchased Black Ice French Door refrigerator in December 6, 2012. Used warranty first year due to loud noise & replaced whole back panel in top part. They seemed to know it was a design flaw. Thought all would be well. Purchased extended warranty for second year and did not need so did not extend again. Now it has been 2 years and 7 months and the ice maker had to be shut off due to water running down outside. The refrigerator is no longer cold enough--60 Degrees (too warm) and freezer door would not close all the way (had to duct tape it shut). I certainly expected it to last longer than that for a $2300 fridge. The old Kenmore was 15 years old and still worked. After reading all these reviews it is time for a class action lawsuit! We have to buy another now but it wont be Whirlpool!

I purchased a washer 6 months ago and it was starting by itself so I called to get a technician out and it took them 3 days to tell me that they did not service in our area. Long story short I was out of a washer for 2 weeks talking back & forth with Whirlpool which was absolutely a nightmare. Kept me on hold forever and hung up on me several times so they didnt have to deal with the situation. Absolutely no customer service at all. When it came down to it they were going to issue me a new washing machine and I had to go to the store to get it and when I got to the store they told me I had a $415.00 credit to spend. Thats less than what I had paid for the washing machine and then I am having to spend an extra $200.00 out of pocket to get another washing machine. My warning to you is not to purchase any Whirlpool appliances unless you want to go thru pure hell. These people do not care about anyone after the product is sold. Their customer service sucks, their appliances suck and Whirlpool just sucks all the way around!! Cabrio washer and dryer are not energy saver by any means! Have had the pair for almost 1 year and have spent at least 3 years of washing and drying time with these. What use to take 30 minutes to wash now takes at least 48 or more and the dryer has to be run twice on lots of loads to dry! The other thing is, with no water in the tub it really does not have a soak cycle to get really dirty stuff clean, so you wash things 2 or 3 times! The only thing Whirlpool is offering is another of their machines at a discounted price. I value principles more than dollars. I refuse to give them another $600+ as a reward for making junk which apparently should have been recalled. The part I need is not available any place Ive found online. When Whirlpool was told of my experience, they said they were sorry. Obviously, I am too and will not buy again. You would think they would give me one board at no cost, but I guess words are cheap.

Purchased a Whirlpool hot water tank from Lowes 5/12 and have had NOTHING but problems with it since day 2. The tank I replaced was around 20 years old, never a drip, never a problem, it just finally rusted through.. Well this piece of JUNK I had installed is just that JUNK.. I have been in contact with this company many times, they ALWAYS have a new story. I replaced my old thermal expansion tank 3 months after buying this JUNK because I was told it could be that. Well that didnt fix anything and cost me $60.00, then it was pressure relief valve, ok, another $20.00, nope not that. Well back on the phone and emailing this company, now they tell me I am not vented correctly, because with all the repairs being done on this tank, my Son noticed the top plastic pieces melting. Well back on the phone I go, and of course Whirlpool tells me, its me again.. Had piles going into my chimney replaced, no help, replaced thermal expansion tank again, no help, replaced pressure relief valve, no help. So sick of cleaning up water I want to throw up. Well I now know why they say, do not return to store where you purchased it, because it is bad business to have Lowes parking lot, looking like a Whirlpool graveyard for their product. .

Last week the belt popped off again and now the pulleys are screwed, so I probably won’t buy another motor (for the sake of the pulley). Ill get a front loaded Kenmore or something as I was never completely happy with how this thing washed and (didnt dry) our clothes.

Every appliance Ive ever owned has been a Whirlpool product. I am on my second set of Cabrio washers and dryers. I havent had any issues with the dryers, but the washers are a different story. My first washer, bought in 2008, started throwing water and oil underneath while spinning. A service technician came out... I had to have the entire tub replaced seeing as how the bearings that went bad were in the motor/spinning assembly that was built into the tub. I moved in 2011 and needed another washer and dryer. I was told the problem had been addressed. Now Im having the same problem... the washer is so loud when spinning, you can hear it on the opposite end of the house with doors closed! So the bearing problem has NOT BEEN ADDRESSED!!! Whirlpool will not stand by this product!! Loyalty is not a factor in their assistance... Only profit!!!

They replace the handle and the door and the handle still keeps falling off and the doors are rusting again. My GE stainless steel dishwasher and stove are five years old and there is no rust on them. Whirlpool says it is cosmetic and that its not covered under the year warranty. After having the ice maker replaced on our 14-month old Whirlpool refrigerator, things seemed to be working fine for a while. However, now there are puddles appearing on the floor in front of the refrigerator. This is a freezer-on-the-bottom model and the ice maker is at the top so I was fairly certain it has nothing to do with the ice maker. Turns out there is something dripping into the back of the freezer and over time it builds up a giant ice sheet on the bottom of the freezer compartment. When the ice sheet gets large enough, the dripping water flows out onto the floor. Now Im going in every couple of weeks and chipping the big ice sheet off the bottom so it will stop leaking for several weeks. When I see puddles in front of our refrigerator I know its time to go chip the ice sheet out again. Seriously, I dont think Ive ever had a brand new, and expensive, appliance perform so badly. Whirlpool... never again.

We have done everything imaginable to try to repair it. Every time I call Whirlpool, I get the same reply. They email me some instructions on how to repair this piece of crap. I dont understand how they can make a product that they do not stand behind. Whirlpool use to be a reputable company, not anymore! I will never buy another Whirlpool product ever! Bought this because it was a Whirlpool product and liked how it was supposed to work at the store, HhGregg in Downingtown. Anyway one week in we started having problems, clothes not being washed well, and constant problems of dripping wet clothes, like they were never spun at all. Would have to readjust all the clothes, respin, most times we have to that that every time we wash clothes and have to respin more than once and even then, clothes have too much water left in them, so it takes forever to get our clothes dry. We have a service contract with Sears, we have repairmen out a few times. Get told, dont wash towels in it, only do very small loads, supposed to be a large capacity washer, nothing wrong with it. Now its worse than ever, terrible product. I want a different washer, its rusting at the lid, its only at the most 2 yrs old, it was expensive and am very, very frustrated!!! I want what I paid For!!! Whirlpool, shame on you for putting out such crap.On to my next problem with a Whirlpool range, again bought it because it was a Whirlpool. We had our Kitchen remodeled and the range I had was white. We needed a stainless steel range, Bought the Gold series AquaLift convection oven. This is the most horrible piece of crap. The convection oven does not cook as a convection should, food takes forever to cook on convection, reg feature works faster and hotter than the convection. In my old range I used the convection feature always unless I was baking a cake. Then used the AquaLift feature to clean my oven, it was not dirty , but I like a sparkling oven, so followed the directions, set it to clean. It looked the same after it supposedly cleaned the oven. Nothing was cleaned, tried it again, it was a little more dirty, something had spilled. I wiped out the oven, used the AquaLift self cleaning feature again, same results, old oven, self clean, the oven after a cleaning cycle, only ash was left, wipe it out, it was spotless. So I called for repair, the repair guy was here about 5-6 different times, tried this and that, replaced a heating element in the oven, turned the temperature up in the oven, so now when I bake, I have to figure out what temp I need to put it on. Tried that, even admitted that the AquaLift feature was a bust. I contacted Whirlpool, I want it replaced with a different model. This range is about I and a half years old, want to replace it but again was very expensive. Its a terrible product, it cant be a coincidence, that both newer appliances made by Whirlpool are terrible!!!! Combined they cost me almost 3000.00 dollars. I feel that I have been ripped off definitely did not get the great products that I thought I was buying. No response from Whirlpool, no satisfaction. I want them both replaced or my money back, take them out of here, they are useless!!!!! I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product again, and have told everyone I know about the terrible quality of these products.

Let me just start by saying I have multiple Whirlpool appliances, and I have always bought Whirlpool appliances in the past. I bought a refrigerator 3 months ago, and it quit working. So, I called Whirlpool to come service it. The service repairman said someone left the freezer door open and it froze up. Two days later, I had to call them back again, because now, the fridge part was not keeping food cold. He came back out and told me it was the compressor. I then in return called Whirlpool that afternoon, and they refused to replace it saying they had to follow their Warranty Policy and they would call me back on Wednesday. They did call back on Wednesday and told me they had located the part. I got a call on Tuesday of the following week and was informed they could not locate the part. I called Whirlpool the next day, and they told me they would have to send it to their Exchange department for review and I would hear back from them in 3 business days. I asked for them to rush my request, but they told they have no way of doing that. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again!

I have had 6 months of absolute HELL working with Whirlpool. I mistakenly purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator from Home Depot and the moment I did Home Depot were hands off. Sadly my brand new refrigerator didnt work from the moment it arrived. The ice machine was dripping inside from the back making all the ice freeze together and created an ice sheet below the ice box that can be taken out. There also was water dripping out of the ice output. The water output wasnt working and the water was literally trickling out when you pushed for water.SO Whirlpool took 6 weeks to send their 1st technician from L.A.R Services out of Boston and the guy turned up and said it was due to needing a new ice tray/machine and our sink having an old filter. There was NO filter on the sink! And he then ordered an ice machine that arrived at their office in 4 weeks but they took 3 weeks to try to deliver it. When they finally came out they called to say they had to turn around because the road was blocked- there are 3 ways to get to our home....so I had to chase for 2 more weeks to get them to come back out. When they arrived they handed me the ice tray outside and drove off!!!SO WE TRIED AGAIN and this time had Home Depot call Whirlpool to get a service person in to fix it. We had to wait another 5 weeks and when he finally came he claimed our issue was due to the fridge not being perfectly level. Well, guess what, its now level and the ice is still freezing into giant blocks, some weird plastic strap is hanging inside the ice box and the water is still trickling out.Ive called the service guy 3 times and he is yet to call back and right now Im on hold with Whirlpool (its been 14 mins so far). NEVER AGAIN will I buy anything WHIRLPOOL and I will be sharing this experience in every consumer space possible so no one has to go through what we have. Our new fridge is still broken after 6 months!! All I want is my GE fridge again and I should have a followed the reviews.

In March of 2013, I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator; model number WRF990
In March of 2013, I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator; model number WRF990SLAM00 from Lowes. About two weeks after my manufacturers warranty expired, I called Whirlpool because the refrigerator wasnt working anymore. It took several weeks and the need to call four different repair companies before we finally had one that was willing and able to come attempt to repair the refrigerator. They came out, changed a few parts and left. Several weeks later, the refrigerator quit again. This time, when I called whirlpool (about June 2014), I was able to convince them to give me an extended warranty. They told me that the warranty would expire in December, and that all the work and service would be covered up to that date. This was fortunate because that repair, parts alone, was near a thousand dollars. Of course, the repair company couldnt make these repairs in my kitchen, so they had to remove the refrigerator and take it to their shop for several days. By this point, we had lost two refrigerators full of food. In mid-November 2014, the refrigerator quit again. We lost another refrigerator full of food. We called Whirlpool and the repair company again, and the repair was scheduled. I have six children and we spent Thanksgiving without a refrigerator in our home. The repair shop kept the refrigerator for several days after they fixed it to make sure it wouldnt leak coolant, because by this time, they had figured out that there were several pin hole sized leaks in the coolant line. It didnt leak. They had it for about four weeks total before they brought it back to us. By the next morning after having the refrigerator plugged in for several hours in our kitchen, the temp was at 65 degrees in the refrigerator and 60 in the freezer. I called the repair company again and whirlpool. The repair company has come to the conclusion that there must be a leak in the coolant line in the walls of the refrigerator and it is deemed unrepairable. They called the whirlpool tech line and the tech people told them to come back to our house and read the pressures the next day. They came out, read the pressures, determined that coolant had leaked out and told the tech department it was not repairable. The tech department told them to go through the entire cooling system again. This is something they have done several times. Today, they brought the refrigerator back after going through the entire cooling system, yet again. Its still not working. As I type this, my refrigerator is at a balmy 55 degrees. The repair company and I have both, on numerous occasions requested a replacement refrigerator. This was a very high end purchase for us. The original cost of the refrigerator was around $3,000. I have lost around $1500 worth of food, which Ive also requested on numerous occasions for Whirlpool to reimburse and they refuse. Whirlpool refuses to replace the refrigerator. Today, I found out that, by mistake, they gave me a one year extended warranty instead of six months. They said that it does not expire until June 19, 2015. Even with this information, they told me that the best offer that they will give me is IF I am willing to EXCHANGE my lemon that is in my kitchen right now, they will SELL me a replacement refrigerator at a discount. They say that the terms of the extended warranty are different than terms of a manufacturers warranty. This is unacceptable. I am currently out several thousand dollars for an over sized filtered water dispenser in my kitchen. Throughout 2014, we spent somewhere between three and four months without a working refrigerator in our home. As of right now, I havent had a working refrigerator for about six weeks and through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I bought the refrigerator because I thought it would act like a refrigerator and not a paper weight. An Implied Warranty of Merchantability has no expiration date. It requires that the goods be fit for the ordinary purposes for which they are to be used. This refrigerator is not fit to be used.Id also like to mention that during the times that Ive spoken with Whirlpool on the phone, they have told me that they would replace the refrigerator if the repair company deemed it unrepairable. Typically when I call whirlpool, I am on hold for fifteen to thirty minutes before I get to a representative. Today, I was on hold for forty minutes before my call was disconnected. This has happened numerous times. Ive also had representatives disconnect the call several times when they were transferring me to another department, or putting me on hold. I estimate that I have spent at least forty hours on the phone with the customer service department for whirlpool in the last several months. And even, with all that, I have not had a dependable refrigerator for eight months. I need this resolved and I dont feel that it is fair for me to be financially punished because of the lemon that Ive already purchased from Whirlpool.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio set 3 years ago based on their brand reputation and consumer reports. It has been a terrible experience since the moment the warranty expired. First, about 1 month after warranty expired, I had to replace the main electrical board. Then about 3 weeks ago, the drain pump failed. I purchased the $110 pump and installed it myself. Now this week, the spin cycle sounded like a jet engine. I took it apart to find that the bearings were shot on the drive shaft. I figured, well it is just a wear item, understandable right? So I went to order parts and got told that I have to order the whole outer tub for $250 with shipping! For some bearings! I called Whirlpool directly and was given no explanation other than Call some parts distributors. They may be able to help you get the bearing separate, but we dont do that and there is nothing that we can do. Amazing. I equate that to having a faulty brake on my car and being told that I have to replace the whole axle!Fortunately, the washer never really did a great job. It was loud and tore clothes up, so the decision to part ways was not too difficult. I have the list of brands they make and will be sure to never buy another. Im selling this one for parts. Im sure there are others out there that will need a pump and control board soon!

We recently bought a home and our dishwasher came with the home. When we called the Customer Service to get it replaced as it comes with a 20 year warranty on the plastic body, they said they would replace the part, but I would have to pay $81 for the first 15 min & $19 every additional 15 min. for labor, which means I would end up paying at least close to $400 or more, depending on how long the technician takes to replace the fiber body. Neither their policy nor warranty make any sense to me. Its frustrating to see that in spite of being covered, I would be the one paying money out of my pocket.

I purchased this water heater (Model# E2F40RD045V, Serial# 1122T461615, Product# 0826354) 1 week ago (Oct. 17, 20011) and it has been installed only after 5 days (Oct 25, 2011). It has yet to heat the water more than warm. I called Lowes (Oct. 21, 2011) and tried to return it only to be told that I would have to get an authorization number from Whirlpool. I called and Whirlpool wanted me to trouble shoot the problem. I had to have an OHM meter and amp meter to do so, which means that I needed to have an electrician present to do these test because I dont own any of these things. I was then told that they could send someone to my house, but I may end up paying for this. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she would tell me the same thing. The call ended when I told them that I guess I would have to do the best I could because I was not getting any help from them. Out of desperation, I went back to Lowes and got a new heating element to try to fix this problem myself. I installed it and it still did not work. I called back the next day and still did not get any help, I was only told that I needed to have these meters on hand to trouble shoot the problem. Why is it that I have to do this? The lady did not seem to care that I did not have any way to handle this problem. I felt that this problem was my burden and not Whirlpools for putting out a defective product. I have in my home about 5 new Whirlpool major appliances and have been a loyal customer for many years but after this incident, never again. I will also be advising my friends how Whirlpool has treated me. I am very disappointed with your customer service or should I say lack of customer service. I was told that had I said that the water heater was leaking, I would have been given an authorization number immediately! I still do not have any hot water as I sit here typing this complaint. I am sure that Whirlpool is really concerned as you have my phone number and address and your representatives are aware that I am very upset but still no one has even tried to help me other than telling me that I have to trouble shoot the problem. I paid about $400 for this dishwasher and the regular price was over $600. Got a good deal. It washed dishes wonderfully. All I had to do was scrape the chunks off. It cleaned the rest. BUT... at a certain point, it started NOT cleaning. It was only about 6-7 months old. It was to the point where everything just came out kind of slimy and food grit was re-deposited on the dishes. I cleaned both filters. I made sure there was enough Rinse-Aid all the time. I ran hot water in the sink before starting to make sure the temp was hot enough. My husband went online and someone had instructions about cleaning the water intake because it could sometimes have sediment buildup. Not a difficult process, but there was no gunk in the intake filter. When I listened to a load it seemed like it drained, (most start with that), paused, rinsed for a couple minutes, paused, drained, paused and refilled for the wash cycle. So the pump worked, the arms went round and sprayed. Nothing was in the way of the arms. After it started the wash cycle, it seemed to just stall. It would spray for about a minute and then stop. Im not sure it sprayed after that. The timer kept counting down. It said dishes were clean, but it was an absolute waste of time. I was ready to go buy a cheap dishwasher and throw this one in the dumpster. I think it is a 720 padm??Just after my husband checked the water intake filter, we started another cycle. When it was rinsing, he opened it up and everything seemed to be working ok. It drained, then filled and started the washing cycle and then stopped. He opened it back up and surprise, the water was full on the front level by the float (that turns the water filling off). But in the back of the dishwasher, there was only about an 8th of an inch of water. Online it said the water should fill to just about the top of the heating element. It WASNT. Problem? It wasnt LEVEL. The instructions when installing said it should be leveled. We did when installing it (when it worked great). But looking back, we put in a new hardwood floor about the time it stopped working ok and we didnt put 2 and 2 together. We did not re-level. When we pushed the dishwasher back into its built in cabinet, it must have gotten OUT of level. The rinse part worked I guess. Then it drained and re-filled. After re-leveling the dishwasher, we opened the door at that point. The water was a level depth front to back and side to side. My husband explained what he thought had been the problem to me. When the wash cycle starts it fills, the float shuts off the water at the appropriate level. THEN... the dishwasher starts to pump and fill the arms and the tube up the back that feeds the upper washing arm. So much water goes into the arms and up that tube, the dishwasher looked almost empty of water again. As the dishwasher was now level, it began adding water to compensate for the arm/tube filling. Before the float would shut off too soon because the front part of the tub was full but the back wasnt. Without enough water, the dishes were NEVER going to/COULDNT get clean. The re-leveling made sure that the float didnt turn off the water filling until there was much more water, the CORRECT amount. The next load cycled all the way through, spraying much more than Id heard before and the dishes were clean. P.S. I also got some dishwasher cleaner and used that on a couple empty cycles. I NOW LOVE this dishwasher again. FYI If my husband wasnt handy Id have junked this thing. We HAD leveled the dishwasher when we installed it. Just didnt realize it COULD get un-level just pulling it in and out of the cabinet to install new floors. Check out all the troubleshooting stuff in the manual. But if it doesnt help, put a level inside across the bottom rack, front to back and side to side and make sure the bubble is in the middle of the two lines. The previous dishwasher I had, just made like a fountain of water that went up the middle of the dishwasher into a sort of funnel filling the upper arm. THIS one has that tube up the back and it curls down under the filter and Im guessing it is more sensitive to being OFF LEVEL, because the tube doesnt go straight down, it curls and lays across the bottom of the tub. Without being level, there was never enough water to suck up that tube to start the the actual wash cycle and it just stalled there till the timer said clean at the end. IE: dishes never did wash. BUT IT DOES NOW! Woohooooo!

My dishwasher was purchased on 5/12/12. It is a little over 2 years old. The dishwasher wasnt getting the dishes cleaned. I opened it mid-cycle and part of the heating coil was bright red and there was smoke inside of the dishwasher. Good thing I opened it before it ran through its cycle or it may have caught on fire. Unfortunately, I only have a 1 year warranty. This machine is a piece of crap and could have burned our house down. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Update: My water heaters pilot light would not stay lit. After seeing the large number of similar complaints on this site, I contacted Whirlpool and asked whether they would cover the cost of labor in addition to the parts, which were under warranty. The representative was very understanding and agreed. The thermocoupler and gas valve were replaced a few days ago. It seems to be working fine. Additionally, a representative contacted me directly in response to my Consumer Affairs complaint, not knowing I had already gotten approval for the repair. He wanted to make sure I received the help that I needed and called to follow-up after the repair. Im very pleased with the response.

When renovating my kitchen I went with all Whirlpool appliance. I have nothing but trouble with my fridge. About a year old we had to replace the motherboard at our expense. After having that done, about 6 months later I had to defrost it so it would work again. Now it has to be done every month. All they say we can book another service call at my expense again. All I say thank goodness I kept my old Frigidaire. It saved me more than once. So my advice is stay away from Whirlpool. They dont stand behind their products from my experience.

I purchased a #Whirlpool; 4.3 cu. ft. Mini Refrigerator Stainless Steel BC-127B from @Target. There was a delay putting it into service (6 mos), so the Target store warranty was expired. The unit remained in its factory shipped packaging until put in service, so nothing out of the ordinary there. After barely two weeks of use, the compressor died. I followed all instructions (including waiting 8-10 weeks) from Whirlpool, but still have not received a refund or been given any information beyond we escalated it to our warranty team but havent heard back yet. The unit was a poorly made piece of junk in other respects as well. There are dozens of complaints about precisely this - defective units - on any site. Do not be fooled by the dishonest way that #Targets website lists reviews. Dig deeper.

Absolutely the worst hot water heater I have ever owned. Broke within first year which Whirlpool sent me a replacement valve assy which I had to install myself. That one failed in 3 month and unit was out of warranty so I received no help from Whirlpool. Had a serviceman fix it again and it failed again. So I ended trashing the unit. I would not buy another Whirlpool product as long as I live. The last 5 appliances I purchased from Whirlpool all failed within a few months after warranty expired. This is no joke. Everything they sell is farmed out to other countries than the US and the workmanship and quality is the worst I have ever seen. The service people are nice when they tell you that they cant help you with your problem. Dont waste another dime on Whirlpool! Very bad product.

I purchased all new Whirlpool appliances for my kitchen from Lowes about 5 years ago. The dishwasher was leaking water onto my hardwood floors after about a year. I figured out that the seal was pulling away on the lower left corner. I fixed that myself. It cleaned pretty well for about 3 years. Now its not cleaning at all. I took the lower spray arm off to try to clean it. Almost all of the holes are clogged with debris. (I clean the filter at least once a week.) I went ahead and ordered a new sprayer arm, maybe that will help.As for the rest of the appliances... After about 6 months, the freezer started filling up with water that then froze on the bottom and allowed water to pour onto the floor. The microwave handled broke after about a month. (They did send me a replacement handle.) The knobs on the stove are starting to peel. One of the knobs wont stay on, so I keep it in the drawer next to the stove. Overall, I am very disappointed in all of the appliances. This will be the last time I buy Whirlpool.

I purchased it new in July 2008 for $550, a single homeowner average 4-5 loads a week. First time it broke down, it was just inside the one-year limited warranty. It broke down again Sept. 2011, the basket separated from spinning mechanism. I learned that after $75+ missing day of work, repair tech quoted cost of repair $885 and a minimum of 10 days waiting for part to arrive.I called Whirlpool, the guy on the phone was nice but told me I was out of luck. Even if I had purchased the 3-year warranty, I would still be out of luck. The washer was manufactured in April 2008. What a piece of junk. Save your money and skip it. I wish I had. Aside: Whirlpool, whatever happened to standing behind your products? I used to think you were a quality brand. Im extremely disappointed and wont be purchasing any of your products in the future.

From first call it took 10 days to service - then told no part - then 2 weeks for part to arrive and service done. 3 + weeks is unacceptable. I bought my home four years ago with a Whirlpool 50-gallon water heater in it. It was installed in December 2002. Well, my hot water went out. After being told I could go to Lowe’s because they would supply the part free of charge because there was a recall on the thermocouple unit. I went to Lowes. No luck there. They told me they didnt carry the whole replacement unit and I would need a number from Whirlpool. The guy at Lowes was very nice but said I was the fifth person to come in this week.I called Whirlpool and was told because I was not the homeowner that had purchased the item that there was no warranty on the product and that I would have to pay for the part. It cost $34.98 plus shipping, which was another $30.00 because I had it shipped overnight. Two days with no hot water was enough. Well, I got the part and hopefully there is nothing wrong with it as it was shipped in a box twice as big as needed with no packing what so ever.I just got off the phone with them again but this time spoke with a supervisor that told me there was no need for packing. There was no part of the entire assembly that could have been damaged. Will I ever buy anything with the Whirlpool name on it? Not only no, but ** no! Will I tell everyone I know about this? You bet. I am also going to write to Lowes and ask why they are continuing to sell inferior appliances such as these. I have to tell one realtor friend about this and just placed a call to another to tell him. The first had no idea that appliances that were marked still under warranty did in fact have no warranty at all if its a Whirlpool. I may write a letter to the editor of our local newspaper and hope that they will publish it to inform anyone reading the paper about these inferior products.

The Whirlpool Cabrio washer was extremely expensive to purchase but is rusting out and the circuit board is going out. We have had cheap washers last longer than this one and just to purchase the circuit board will be more expensive than another cheap washer. These boards go out right after the warranty goes out and I think that they are timed to go out. (The exact same thing happened with our dishwasher and after the board was replaced, it has lasted many years). Whirlpool should replace these for free since they do not last that long and are very expensive.

I purchased this Whirlpool dishwasher from Sears on 3/25/2010. Then on 8/11/2012 the dishwasher completely failed to operate. I called for service and they checked it out and they found out that the control board had failed due to moisture getting into the electronic components. They replaced the control board & control panel and the dishwasher has worked until today (2/08/2014) - 17 months, and now exhibits the same problem. The original repair costs including labor was over $400. Not really acceptable and demonstrates very poor quality control and design @ Whirlpool. As of now, I am considering whether to purchase a new machine (obviously neither a Whirlpool or Sears product). As part of the original service the soap dispenser also failed and had to be replaced. I believe Whirlpool should be responsible for some of the repair costs.

I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio topload washer (WTW7800XW2) in April 2011. In May 2012, I noticed the door was broken on both sides. It has now popped up and is broken so bad that it can barely be used without replacing it. I called Lowes, where it was purchased, to quickly be told that there was nothing they could do because it is out of the years warranty. This is just such a copy out to have an excuse, so that they would not even offer any assistance. Also, I paid $2,000.00 for the set; I bought the dryer as well. I just could not imagine an expensive machine like this having such a problem. Prior to buying this machine, I had my washer for 10 years. It has no problem; it was just time to buy a newer model, so I thought! After the store (Lowes) would not help, I decided to call Whirlpool; and the woman I spoke with was even less help. Andrea said there was nothing they could do since it was outside the year of manufacturers warranty. She seemed glad to have this as an excuse. I told her this is too much money to have something like this to happen. I told her it is obvious the door was defective. She said again sorry but that theres nothing she could do. She did offer to sell me a warranty for a year for $327.52. This was too expensive. I asked her what else could she do, and she told me nothing. I asked how much the door was, and she told me $212.00. I feel like I have been royally and deliberately ripped off, and Whirlpool knows it. I say to anyone reading this to please be aware if you are purchasing this product. You will most likely be sorry you invested all this money for it. You will get a companys brand that does not care and will not stand by their product.

To Whirlpool Headquarters, Our message to those whom wish to listen is that your product is only as good as the service company you employ to handle service and repairs. Our most recent experience with A&E Factory Service has us convinced we will never buy Whirlpool appliances again. After a two week wait for our scheduled appointment we were dealt a most unprofessional diagnosis as to what may be the problem and then told that to service our appliance would result in overtime and that simply wouldnt be happening at this visit. The appointment time was 12 to 4 PM the repairmen was here at 2:30 pm only for five minutes. We have spoken with a Michael ** with your company who advised us to wait for a call from A&E which no call was ever received. We will be sharing our disgust with Home Depot where we purchased our refrigerator and alerting them to avoid further customer dissatisfaction by no longer promoting Whirlpool in our area. We are level headed and fair people just not able to grasp that a company as big as yours cant do better than this.

After almost 5 years of satisfactory performance, our $1200 Whirlpool Duet washing machine WFW9400SU1 requires repairs costing over $1100. Similar to another complaint listed, some parts rusted out, leading to extensive damage during use, which we realized only after the spin cycle became incredibly loud. Now the entire gut of the machine (bearing, drum, arm, casing, etc.) needs to be replaced - $900 parts and $200 labor. I trust my repairman (who said theyd seen this type of problem before with Whirlpool) especially because he recommended buying a new machine instead. I called Whirlpool, and they said they could do nothing for me which made me very angry. This is a mechanical problem that could have been avoided by using proper materials. Unbelievable.... takes a whole evening to do one load of towels!!! (actually a whole evening to do 2 towels) I hate it!!! Not to mention, whatever they designed between the tub and the door, a rubber whatever it is, is nothing but a catch for disgusting bacteria and slime. Considering the amount of wash I DONT DO, this is unacceptable, even though I have bought and used the new washing machine washing stuff!!! Honestly.... had a Maytag Neptune before this machine..... that is the way to go folks, pay a little more, but way more satisfied. Cleaned like a gem, unlike this whirlpool, cleaning is at best mediocre!! Unfortunately, I broke it, asking it to wash huge 120 in round table cloths for my business, and heavy chair covers..... Had I have know.... cant even wash 2 towels in this new Whirlpool machine!! It is heading to the curb with all its disgusting places you have to clean, I will pay someone to take it away, seriously cost me a ton of money in re-spinning (or yeah, and re- rinsing, cause you cant just spin something), would have been better to fix my MAYTAG!!! I bought my Whirlpool refrigerator model #ed5fvgxws07 in Oct. 2011. One year seven months later, I am experiencing my 1st breakdown. The refrigerator side is failing to cool. I have replaced the temp control thermostat and I am waiting to see if this fixes the problem. I have researched and checked the other possible problems and it is unlikely that it is a defrost fail as there is no frost build-up in the freezer section. And, I checked the heater element and there is continuity through the element. If this does not fix the problem, I believe that there is one other possible solution. I dont have $300.00 to give to an appliance repairman. Maybe I should give it a rap on the side as one other customer said a repair person did to make it work for a few more weeks.

Refrigerator runs continually. Had to shut it down. Called Whirlpool Sept 2. They will not replace the defective product. I must wait for a repair. Whirlpool has advised Lowes that the issue is dealt with. I will see the technician on Sunday (Sept 6). Small family Business does not operate on Sunday or holiday, Monday, and have advised Whirlpool of this multiple times. Whirlpool doesnt care. I paid $2700 and do not have a working refrigerator. I will never purchase another Whirlpool Appliance.

I call in to Customer Service to get someone to fix my washing machine because it wasnt working and when I called, I forgot to have my washing machine serial number at hand. The person on the other side told me that she cant wait for me to get the serial number more than 2 minutes and I ask myself, if they cant wait for me more than 2 minutes to get my serial number, then why should I wait a week to have someone fix my washing machine?

Bought a new Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. What a piece of crap!! I am using my time to write this review as the repairman fixes the latest problem. I dont have much hope because he asked for my assistance and is sighing and grunting over there. I had the traditional puddle of water to start. Tray underneath was cracked. Was actually fixed. Water and ice taste like crap. They said its my city water... ok whatever. No good ice and water - we will survive. The food in fridge was freezing on the low. Guy just announced he broke the new thermostat... Yes, the thermostat broke after a year. Will get it fixed, hopefully enough to hold up until I can find another new refrigerator to buy. Never a Whirlpool or any of their other companies. Time to do more homework. So glad for these forums. Ugh!!

Very reliable and cleans clothes very well. I have used almost every machine on the market, and none compare. Very quiet and I use very little detergent and CLOTHES come out very clean every time. I am just very satisfied with my experience.
