We purchased a Whirlpool water heater at Lowes for $1100.00. Four years later it isnt working. There are no parts to fix it available at any store in Dallas, TX. We had to call the company. They made us pay the overnight shipping fee for the part. Then the part didnt show up. When we called to find out why isnt the part at my house, they said they found out FedEx doesnt deliver on Saturdays. No one ever called to notify us of this, instead the response was that they would use it as a coaching lesson for not notify the customer. We have now been without hot water in the middle of winter for 5 days. We have no idea when the part will arrive and if it will even fix my defective water heater. We will never buy another Whirlpool product and I strongly encourage anyone who reads this to not buy Whirlpool. They dont stand by their product and have horrible customer service.

We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerator with a bottom freeze
We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerator with a bottom freezer in Dec 2009. We discovered a leak dripping onto the finished basement ceiling. We discovered after several attempts that the plastic evaporation tray was broken (since day one). Previous defrosting had obviously evaporated into the hardwood until now. This item, although obviously broken when installed, was not fixed as the warranty had run out.Boo to Corbiel and to Whirlpool. They are financially not worth a lawsuit.

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio set 3 years ago based on their brand reputation and consumer reports. It has been a terrible experience since the moment the warranty expired. First, about 1 month after warranty expired, I had to replace the main electrical board. Then about 3 weeks ago, the drain pump failed. I purchased the $110 pump and installed it myself. Now this week, the spin cycle sounded like a jet engine. I took it apart to find that the bearings were shot on the drive shaft. I figured, well it is just a wear item, understandable right? So I went to order parts and got told that I have to order the whole outer tub for $250 with shipping! For some bearings! I called Whirlpool directly and was given no explanation other than Call some parts distributors. They may be able to help you get the bearing separate, but we dont do that and there is nothing that we can do. Amazing. I equate that to having a faulty brake on my car and being told that I have to replace the whole axle!Fortunately, the washer never really did a great job. It was loud and tore clothes up, so the decision to part ways was not too difficult. I have the list of brands they make and will be sure to never buy another. Im selling this one for parts. Im sure there are others out there that will need a pump and control board soon!

After much frustration and disappointment, as well as 2 huge repair bills with my front loading washing machine I sent it off to the scrap yard, still looking brand new, and went back to a top loading machine. I purchased a Whirlpool top loading, high efficiency, low water machine. I have had it for almost 2 years now and am extremely happy with it. I would highly recommend it. Fairly quiet and easy to use and takes very little detergent. It does not have an agitator so it is gentle on clothes. I know some users have complained about tangled clothes but, in my opinion, if it is loaded correctly this should not be a problem.

Ice maker kept freezing up. Im continually taking the ice tray out to unfreeze. The frequent removal of the tray eventually broke the tab off on the liner. Ive now been told this (liner) is not a replaceable part and since that is the case, the warranty will not cover. Im upset that the repair technician did not process the claim properly and state that the make had a problem freezing. What kind of company would manufacture a product that would have parts that are unrepairable? You spend close to $2,000 on a refrigerator, wouldnt you think you would have an ice maker that works? I know they hope to sell more appliances this way but you can bet I will not be purchasing another Whirlpool anything! I will also be retracting my recommendations to friends and family to purchase a Whirlpool. The company does not stand behind its products.

I bought all my kitchen appliances in Home Depot 4 months ago (April 2014). The wall oven, Whirlpool, never worked. Flamingo Appliances is the name of the company that does services for Whirlpool in my city. They keep changing parts and today is the 3rd visit that the technician will be in my house trying to solve the problem. Customer service in Michigan is DISGUSTING! I probably have to buy another oven because they say they wont replace it if they think its fixable. 3 MONTHS! I will never buy Whirlpool again. I hate them.

I bought this Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load Washing Machine in December and have hated it ever since. The energy efficiency this item claims means that you will spend a ridiculous amount of time waiting for your load to finish. My family hates this machine and I regularly have to hear about how long the load is taking because the timer adjusts continually. Put in a QUICK load and it said 38 minutes, came back in 30 and it said 24 minutes. It is so frustrating!!! We are afraid to put anything on a heavy soil setting or anything other than quick, because it can take 2-3 hours to complete. I have to schedule a day to wash my bedding and there isnt any convenience in doing a quick load. I am going to have to sell this one and purchase another washer. What a loss!! This machine has been a time and money waster! I will NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL again!!! I bought this machine through Best Buy.

Originally installed early 2007, the very expensive unit went crazy after about 14 months, with random beeping noises, and non-response to keyboard entry. Sometimes unplugging the unit worked. When unplugging no longer worked, the unit was repaired by replacing the keyboard logic boards only to fail again the same way.about a year later. It appeared the heat or steam from the cooktop below the microwave was causing the failures, so we became careful to ensure the fan was on. Last week, after boiling some water, the unit failed again, with error code F2H2, the keyboard error. Didnt Whirlpool expect the microwave to survive heat or steam from the stove/cooktop below? Overall, the unit is great when it works. Unfortunately due to the large size of the 2 cu ft unit, only an identical unit will fit. Im skeptical of replacing my broken unit with another Whirlpool Velos unless this keyboard problem has been fixed in new units. Anybody know if Whirlpool has fixed this problem?

We bought the Whirlpool NU50T122-403 50 Gal water heater from Lowe’s and very disappointed that after 3 years it will cost more to repair it than replace it. The Whirlpool gas water heater and our Whirlpool refrigerator have been the worst purchases ever made. Whirlpool has been unreliable in our house and the repairs and downtime have been extraordinary. I bought a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer in September 2013 and washer is already broken. It leaks out the front of the front loading door (yes, I clean it as advised, including leaving door open to air dry etc). I am a retired senior citizen and my wife and I spend 6 months of the year in Florida so the washer has barely been used since we are barely home and its not like we are trying to wash load after load of heavily soiled items daily. I would not recommend this product at all!! The repair people said it would cost approximately $300 to fix and offered a plan to fix it for $350 with a 1 year warranty. Why should I bother to do either if I will have to do same after 1 year? This machine is barely used and broke?! The customer service people were not helpful and seemed only interested selling me the repair plan to fix what should not need fixing. So, to recap - I bought the machine in 9/13 then went to Florida from 10/13 to 4/14 (so it was used 1 month). Then, it was used from 4/14 until 10/14 (6 months). I returned from Florida this year in April 2015 and it started leaking in June 2015 (2 months). So, my machine has been used for a grand total of 9 months and it is already broken!!! Stay far away. Whirlpool should come and replace this machine for us for free if they care anything about customer service and senior citizens but clearly they do not. In Florida we have an old Sears Kenmore machine that has lasted for over 20 years!!

Whirlpool gas range convection oven - I have only had this range for 2 weeks. Manual is sketchy to say the least. Purchased from LOWES - salesman were not well-informed. I have had to do a chat to find out information. Range looks great but performs poorly. Takes a while to heat anything even on high and on large burners. Grates are too heavy. I am sorry I did not see the editor review before I purchased. I have not used the convection so I cannot speak to this but my choices were limited when I purchased and I did not want a convection oven and other ranges would not purposeful for my use.

I have read amazing amount of complaints about this problem and apparently the company has nothing to say about this. My washer is nearly 7 yrs. old. It has almost been a full-time spectator sport. Good thing its in the kitchen! Twists sheets so badly - on sheets setting - that it stops and I must undo the balloon its formed and rearrange the wet, heavy 2 sheets and 2 pillow cases. Now, it cant even finish the clean washer cycle without stopping. It seems it doesnt use enough water to do the job of washing items thoroughly. And it balks at heavy loads - which is what we bought this washer to do - blankets, rugs, quilts, etc. Two people, now only one, and two small dogs. I should have at least 10 years of service from that purchase. Repairman says $300+, and he sees it as a very common code. Build them to last or give up. Im disgusted with Whirlpool now.

Weve had our Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer just over a year. I like them both but then we are having problems with our lid. The first one cracked after 9 months and they replaced the lid. Two months later, the new one cracked and they replaced the hinges and lid again. I assure you we are very careful when lowering and lifting the lid. I do 80% and my husband does 20%, and we are very cautious of it especially after the second one broke. Now, I was just putting laundry in and the third one cracked while lifting the lid. There is obviously a problem, and Im wondering if anyone else is having the same issues. Eventually, it will crack all the way through which will cause the glass to pop up and the lid wont lock. I will not buy anything with a glass lid again!

Hi Folks, so today I had the pleasure to speak to Whirlpool regarding a rep
Hi Folks, so today I had the pleasure to speak to Whirlpool regarding a repair bill on our washing machine which now has a bearing failure and estimate to repair was 1279.00. Its 6.5 Yrs old, just out of extended warranty and cost me with the pedestal a total of 1250.00 when new. I explained that in the 6.5 since I have lived at this house where we spend all new Whirlpool Gold Appliances, half have now failed. Range Microwave, Dishwasher and now the 1250.00 front loader is dying a slow and agonizing death with a bearing failure. Just so everyone understands, the estimate is from an official Whirlpool repair service that was booked through the Whirlpool website. Other repair folks just would not bother to look at it when I told them I believe the bearing was going bad.The repair man that arrived was professional and on time. However, I had a hard time understanding how a 6.5 Yr old washing machine would be considered beyond economical repair by costing 1279.00 to repair. Labor was 250.00 which I thought was fair. Time, etc. But parts made up the difference in cost. So later in the day, I spoke to Whirlpool and they offered the equal new washer for what would seem an excellent price. About half off. Wow, I thought that sounded good. So I asked if my existing pedestal would work with the new washer and it did not and I would have to pay for one. Regardless if my old one was fine or not.So, they offered a discounted rate from new at another half off. Total approx 800.00. So, I asked the Whirlpool rep to hold on and I need to check with my wife if she wants the replacement. She uses it as much as I do and wanted her thoughts. She checked the model on the washer and pedestal and with the local Home improvement store, they have it on sale for both units (washer and pedestal) and its about 50.00 less?Consequently, I called Whirlpool back and explained that it does not move the needle to regain my trust as compensation on a 6 yr bearing failure, failed dishwasher and range microwave they offer what a distributor of their product can offer for less as a package? Really? I mean, the Home improvement store is not in the business to lose money. Now, I am having a hard time understanding my own failure to have trust in a brand I used to have with my previous house. My mom had an old Whirlpool washing machine that lasted 25 years before she and my dad gave it away. You know, the old white top loader they used to make back in the 70s. Sheet metal, made a racket and never broke? Oh yeah got the clothes clean too! I dont know what to make of it anymore. So, I will just wait till it dies and take my hard earned money and spend it on another brand in my next house which we are going to move to soon. Maybe I can feel nostalgic and find my moms old washer. Its probably washing someones rags right now and getting them clean. It must be 35 yrs old by now.I dont expect to get anything for free. Its out of warranty, so I need to deal with the consequences, but there are steps the other party can take to help remedy the situation. I think they tried and it was genuine but in my thoughts its just not enough when your local box store is offering the same. When you develop a brand to extend a message of trust in quality and value, you need to have quality and value all the time. I suggested they help with the costs on the parts. I would certainly pay for the labor. Parts cost little to the manufacturer. Unable to help that way. I thought it was cheaper for them too. Guess not. Its come to be a throw away washing machine at 6.5 yrs and I am Infinitely disappointed. I just want my washing machine to work as well as my mothers old one and have the possibility to fix once in a while when needed.

Worst Air conditioner brand I have ever come across. My personal experience
Worst Air conditioner brand I have ever come across. My personal experience with Whirlpool Air Conditioner is not encouraging. I have used almost all brands of AC but found that the quality of Whirlpool AC is not worth recommending. Please stay away from Whirlpool. I got one Whirlpool 1.5 Ton Split Air Conditioner (Model 3D Cool Xtreme, 6th Sense Climate Control) at my house about 2 years back. I booked a service request with the Whirlpool’s Authorized Service Centre M/s Western Refrigeration Co., NOIDA as the Air-conditioner was not cooling to the desired level. On the first visit on 20-05-2019, the service engineer advised that the AC was not cooling because the gas had drained and the gas is required to be filled for which there will be a charges of Rs 2500/-. Believing him, I agreed for refilling of the gas at his quoted price. He sent next day some other attendant team for filling the gas. Those attendants revealed that in addition to the gas, two valves are also required to be replaced at an additional cost of Rs 1600/-. Though I had a doubt about the correctness of their diagnosis, there being no option, we paid for valves also. Accordingly, a total of Rs 4100/- was paid by us.However, to our utter surprise, the AC stopped cooling within a couple of days. Hence, the service centre was again informed. The complaint was again attended second time on 04-06-2019 and we were told that they have again refilled the Gas.However, again the result was NIL. The AC was not giving cooling effect. Hence, third time again complain was booked. The first attendant once again advised for only gas filling after thorough examination. He sent an another guy on 20-06-2019 for gas filling who then revealed that the cooling effect is not there because the condenser coil is leaking and the same will have to be replaced at an additional cost of Rs 5500/-.The following important points emerges out of the above:- 1) If there was a condenser coil leaking problem, why it was not disclosed to us when the AC was attended earlier by various Service Teams consisting of various attendants in the process from the same service centre? 2) Whether my all money paid earlier for gas filling and changing of two new valves will go waste due to wrong diagnosis by your technicians?3) Keeping in view the earlier wrong diagnosis, I very much doubt the present diagnosis and feel that this is a ploy to extract more money from gullible customer who lacks technical knowledge. We spoke to the service centre officials up to three four levels on the numbers received from the call centre but after listening the matter they assure to call us back. After no call back from their side, when we try to call them, they do not lift our calls. The above facts clearly bring out the cheating, harassment and looting by the Service Centre under the aegis of the so called prestigious company M/s Whirlpool. The hard earned reputation and trust of the Whirlpool is being impaired by these unscrupulous service centre. No punitive action appears to have been taken by Whirlpool office against the unscrupulous service centre for unfair trade practices. Rather the person from Whirlpool office over call was also trying to coax us to pay some more money to the unscrupulous service centre who has already cheated us and extracted money earlier from us with zero results. My Air Conditioner is totally shut off due to mishandling and misdiagnosis by the service centre. We are acutely suffering due to scorching heat and over and above going through the mental harassment for the last two months. We expected an immediate resolution for the above problem on top priority basis without any further additional cost however despite my number of reminder through their toll free number, mail id etc. the problem still remains unresolved and unattended. It is highly disappointing that despite my writing repeated mails with reminders no senior person from Whirlpool has so far taken cognizance of the grievance and the customer has been left in the lurch to be harassed by the highly inefficient, incompetent and indecisive service centre officials who have miserably failed to address the issue and satisfy the customer.

On October 29, 2009, we bought a new Whirlpool 30 gallon gas hot water heater to replace a Rheem we had for 20 years. We immediately had problems with the relief valve leaking, so we ran at the local hardware store and bought another valve. Next, we had trouble lighting it (husband was a plumber years ago) but a call to the hotline and we were in business. Now just over 3 years later, the pilot light started to cut off at will. Troubleshooting solved nothing. We called the hotline again and were given a part number, an authorization number and told to go back to Lowes for a replacement part. Figuring how our luck runs, I called first and was told there was no such part number. Trip saved. Now after reading all of these reviews, we have decided to cut our losses and buy another Rheem. You can find the Whirlpool hot water heater sitting beside our 2-year-old Kenmore HE washing machine (also made by Whirlpool) on the garbage pile. No more Whirlpool!

Im yet another angry customer who is dealing with a defective Whirlpool hot water heater purchased from Lowe’s, still under warranty, and it failed. The thermocouple appears to have failed and, amazingly, the part is nonstandard in that it screws in backwards compared to every other HW heater. Lowe’s doesnt carry the part even though they sold the HW heater. When I contacted Whirlpool, they agreed the part is under warranty and will send one, but I have to pay shipping for a minimum of $10 and a week to wait, plus having to get the part installed. Obviously, I am one of many who bought this defective appliance. Whirlpool used to be a good company, but Ill tell everyone to avoid them in the future. Meanwhile, I have no hot water and its freezing in Cincinnati.

My wife and I spent about $2500 on a new Whirlpool Dutch Door fridge five years ago. 18 months later the evaporator went out and the warranty was only good for one year! We bought an extended warranty, got it fixed and the other evaporator went out less than a year later after that! Next, the circuit board control on the crisper went out. Then, the water filter would not disengage and a repairman had to take the fridge apart just to put in a new filter! And now, the ice-maker has gone out and the fan is icing up like another evaporator is going... Insane! Our warranty is up next year. Once the warranty ends we will start shopping for another unit - and it wont be a Whirlpool - thats for sure. I have never owned anything this unreliable in my entire life! Also, I would say most of the time we have owned this piece of you-know-what it has made a loud disturbing fan noise... What a waste of good money! Run! Run far, far away!!!

GFG461LVT2 - In October of 2010 I purchased a Whirlpool Gold Fridge and Stove. Its been about 3.5 years and two of the caps that go on top of the range burners are chipped. All of the caps are badly stained and despite the manual instructions to wash them in mild soapy water, they do not come clean. They dont come clean using heavy duty Easy Off cleaner. In addition, the seal on the oven door has apparently failed because the glass is foggy on the inside. Today I phoned Whirlpool after going to their website. I first spoke to a parts representative who advised that I would have to pay $47.00 per cap or $115.00 for all five burner caps. I was transferred to another department as I thought I should get the appliance parts and door fixed for free. The appliance is only 3.5 years old. I was told that the appliance is only guaranteed for 1 year and I would have to pay dearly to remedy the two problems. This appliance is Whirlpools Gold series. It supposed to be top-of-the-line - the price tag was certainly top of the line. Im very disappointed in American workmanship and the companys lack of integrity. Not too long ago I purchased a Whirlpool (aka Maytag) front loading washer. I now own a Samsung. The point is that designed obsolescence will force consumers to purchase products made outside of the US because some of us cannot afford to buy or repair appliances, cars, etc., every couple of years.

On December 24, I was planning my annual Christmas Eve dinner when my oven just decided to quit working completely. This was the third time my oven broke down on me. I called Whirlpool and they pretty much told me theyll get to me when they can but it was the holiday. So I understood that it would be a few days. I had a technician come out to my house on December 27 and tell me that he needed to order a fuse. He called all over the state to find one but no one had one so he put it as an emergency. The technician did everything he could to accommodate me but could only do so much. So I waited and waited but heard nothing.Today, January 3, I called the department to see when my part was going to be here and they tell me January 10 - unacceptable. I called the management team and spoke with Tiffany who pretty much just told me, Sorry. You have to wait five business days to find out if the part is available. If not, then we can discuss sending new ovens. Why would we have to wait five business days from January 3 when it was ordered on December 27? Look, Im a very reasonable woman and this is the first time I have ever complained online about a company. But I have gone 10 days without an oven and I have a family that I cook for daily. My ovens are four months old so this should not be happening. And when it does, there should be parts to fix it or a replacement on hand because no family should have to go without an oven when they just paid a ** load of money for it. Customer Service should be a little more sympathetic and a little less about business because at the end of the day, theyre not the ones suffering, we are. Also if this part is on back order, that tells me that this probably happens often. Maybe Whirlpool should recall this oven model because whoever heard of an oven overheating? Get it together. I will spread the word of mouth about my experience!

We bought this pair, the washer and dryer, not even two months ago. I have not liked it since day 1. My clothes do NOT clean well at all. I had to wash the same load THREE times and still there is dirt on them! Just regular dirt. No oil, grease stains or anything... dirt. I even went and purchased POD detergent to make sure I was using the correct amount of detergent... Came home and washed the load again... DIRTY. Customer service says theyll send out a technician, but if they find nothing wrong, itll cost me... I wish I had read the reviews before I purchase this junk! DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Bought a Whirlpool range in Nov. Within a month the large burners fell apart and the reflector bowls discolored from normal use. Call Whirlpool and they sent out replacements. Within a month the first replacement fell apart and the new bowls discolored from heat again. I held off calling until the second burner fell apart and this time when I called I was told I would have to stay home to wait for a service call to have burners replaced which I could do myself and that the bowls arent covered and that it normal for them to discolor with normal use. They said I should wrap them in foil to protect them. They appear to prefer wasting time and money rather making a good product. The burner bowls from my old GE stove are still shiny after many years of use but Whirlpools cant hold the finish for a month. Please note I was an appliance tech and ran an appliance repair business for 18 years. These failures are not normal or acceptable. I will never buy Whirlpool again.

When I contacted the store two days after purchase they made it seem as though it is something normal. I never had a refrigerator that got extremely hot that I can scramble some eggs on it. Thats why I cant even rate my experience.

This Whirlpool refrigerator is only 1 year and 3 months old (just out of manufacturers warranty). I am very happy that I bought the extended warranty. I have had to have 2 service calls in the past month. On the second one I was told the compressor needed to be replaced. I have had refrigerators that were 25 years old and never needed service and are still working. I have seen many of the same problems being reported on Whirlpool Refrigerators of this type. I recommend you steer clear of them. Also KitchenAid and Maytag because Whirlpool makes their refrigerators too.

I purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio (wtw6600sw2) about five years ago. Last year, the motherboard had to be replaced. This year, it started to have load balance issues on the spin cycle; in other words, it wont spin without sounding like its going to tear itself apart. It cost $75 to have someone look at it, and to fix it will cost almost $400, and whats next? I spent a lot of money for this machine, and Whirlpools answer was to offer me a discount to purchase a new Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool and my model does not have a recall, but models with same problems have been recalled. I will never buy a Whirlpool again!!!

I bought a new one BECAUSE I did not want any problems with repairs. Whirlpool is ripping off the consumer passing out this piece of discombobulated metal, wires and electronics. An appliance like this should last AT LEAST 7 years without a problem. I wish there was a class action lawsuit and will be waiting to the day it surely comes.

Will never buy another Whirlpool/GE product again. Nothing but problems. Paid $1700 for a Whirlpool/goldstar refrigerator 2 years ago. Problems from the start with slide-out shelf cracking, evaporator fan burnt out within 2 years, digital display cannot read anymore. Now have another problem again - not cooling. Going to the trash. No wonder your stock price have dropped. I would sell off to. Whirlpool/GE have been going down hill for the last 5 years. Maybe more. Cheap products, do reflect, it just a matter of time, I would think you would address these issues in your product line, but it shows your company is all about profits instead of quality of products. Keep going like you are, and you will be bankrupt. Cheap overpriced and nothing but junk in any products you manufacture.

In 2008, we purchased a Whirlpool Gas Water Heater from Lowes. Three years later the tank started leaking (this water heater had a 6-year warranty). Per Whirlpools instructions we were to return this one to Lowes for a refund (in hindsight we should have taken the money & went elsewhere to purchase a better brand!). As our plumber was removing the leaking heater we went to Lowes to purchase a new Whirlpool Water Heater upgrading to one with a 12-year warranty hoping that this one would last, it was advertised as the BEST one Lowes sells! After our plumber swapped out the heaters we returned the leaking water heater for our refund (remember this one had a 6-year warranty & only lasted 3 years). This past June (2015) our water heater stopped working, turns out the thermocouple went out which shuts the gas valve off. Called 5 plumbing companies in the Metro Phoenix area, not a single one would work on it! We researched the repair, called Whirlpool & was told that this water heater was out of warranty. Wait a minute! This one has a 12-year warranty & it is only 4 years old! Whirlpool told me that it is a replacement water heater so the warranty for this water heater is only 6 years (from the 2008 date of the purchase of the first water heater). It didnt matter that the replacement water heater was a different model & was more expensive than what was refunded to us. We replaced the thermocouple ourselves & got it going again. Last week it started leaking, called Whirlpool again got the runaround again, called a plumber who replaced it with a new Ruud for $1000.00 (Water heater + Labor). We went back to Lowes to try to get their help resolving this, the store manager said this was a Whirlpool warranty issue. We ended up taking the junk Whirlpool water heater to a recycling facility and getting $2.50 for it. Bottom LINE!! READ THE REVIEWS, THEY ARE TRUE!!! There was a class action lawsuit with a settlement of which I never received a notice for, I read about it online this summer, but it was too late to opt in. Dont waste your money on Whirlpool water heaters, no one will repair them, Lowes wont stand behind the products on their shelves, they get your money & hide behind the manufacturer & Whirlpool has very nice script to get you off of phone! Whirlpool used to be a trusted brand (do your research, I think they are the manufacturer for certain store brands! ). Our new Ruud water heater has a faster recovery than either of the Whirlpools that weve had; the drain valve is brass, not plastic like the whirlpool, it is overall a much higher quality.

I have a two-year-old top of the line Whirlpool Duet Steam washer. Cleaning
I have a two-year-old top of the line Whirlpool Duet Steam washer. Cleaning performance is adequate at best, but my biggest complaint is about the visible mold buildup that collects on the water dispensing plate as well as on the detergent, bleach and softener dispenser and rubber lining of the washer opening. I have cleaned the removable detergent dispenser weekly since purchasing. The water dispensing plate has a continuous buildup of thick black mold that can only be removed with a tooth brush and bleach and only a small portion of those openings are reachable. I have cleaned the machine with Affresh as recommended and exactly as the manufacturer recommends. Nothing changes! I contacted Whirlpool and was told this was normal for all washers in which some moisture always remains and that I should continue to clean and leave the door and dispenser drawer open to allow the areas to air dry. So, I have done all of those things for the past year and nothing has changed! I received notification that a class action suit had been filed against Whirlpool for this mold issue but have not been contacted in any other way. Not only is this mold visibly disgusting but certainly is worrisome from a health perspective. When I contacted the company a second time, I was told there was nothing that could be done and it was in no way a design flaw on the part of Whirlpool.

I have had 6 months of absolute HELL working with Whirlpool. I mistakenly purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator from Home Depot and the moment I did Home Depot were hands off. Sadly my brand new refrigerator didnt work from the moment it arrived. The ice machine was dripping inside from the back making all the ice freeze together and created an ice sheet below the ice box that can be taken out. There also was water dripping out of the ice output. The water output wasnt working and the water was literally trickling out when you pushed for water.SO Whirlpool took 6 weeks to send their 1st technician from L.A.R Services out of Boston and the guy turned up and said it was due to needing a new ice tray/machine and our sink having an old filter. There was NO filter on the sink! And he then ordered an ice machine that arrived at their office in 4 weeks but they took 3 weeks to try to deliver it. When they finally came out they called to say they had to turn around because the road was blocked- there are 3 ways to get to our home....so I had to chase for 2 more weeks to get them to come back out. When they arrived they handed me the ice tray outside and drove off!!!SO WE TRIED AGAIN and this time had Home Depot call Whirlpool to get a service person in to fix it. We had to wait another 5 weeks and when he finally came he claimed our issue was due to the fridge not being perfectly level. Well, guess what, its now level and the ice is still freezing into giant blocks, some weird plastic strap is hanging inside the ice box and the water is still trickling out.Ive called the service guy 3 times and he is yet to call back and right now Im on hold with Whirlpool (its been 14 mins so far). NEVER AGAIN will I buy anything WHIRLPOOL and I will be sharing this experience in every consumer space possible so no one has to go through what we have. Our new fridge is still broken after 6 months!! All I want is my GE fridge again and I should have a followed the reviews.

My girlfriend lives in Europe and bought a Whirlpool stove and countertop burner. She was washing dishes and heard a sound like a crack and she looked around the kitchen to find out where it came from. She looked at her stove top and there was a vertical crack down the center of it. It was turned on, no one was using it but it cracked. She tried to get a replacement glass top and the store told her they were not available. I sent an email to Whirlpool to find another one and never heard back from them. I sent a second email and that was left unanswered. After this I would never buy another stove or stove top made by Whirlpool again. Knowing that KitchenAid was bought out by Whirlpool these comments dont surprise me one bit. Whirlpool is another name for poor quality and no service.

We bought this refrigerator (Whirlpool Model # WRF9913F1FM00) last August 2016. From day 1, the water coming out from the water dispenser was not cold at all. Same temperature as the tap water. By November, the refrigerator started to get warm. Apparently, the evaporator fan motor had to be changed according to the technician who spent more than an hour on the phone with their technical advisor to diagnose the problem with the refrigerator. After a week, the refrigerator got fixed. Not only did the refrigerator started working again, even the water from the dispenser got finally cold, too. Now four months later, March 2016, the same problem: the fridge started to not get cold again. In addition to that, the ice would not come out from the ice dispenser and water from the water dispenser is not cold again. When my husband checked inside the door, the ice were all clumped together. They looked like they melted. And even the ice in the freezer bin looked the same. And on top of this, the refrigerator was making so much noise. The technician was just here again today.

I contacted Lowes and discussed the machine and expressed my complaints. I realize that it has a sensor and fills the machine with the amount of water according to the weight of the clothes but have found that regardless of what cycle I place the machine in, it doesnt place over 2 inches of water in the machine. It does not clean the linens, under garments or any type clothes. In fact, it has ruined my designer clothes. It is impossible to get the wrinkles out with an iron. Each time it takes 3+ days to get the service tech to look at the oven. This will be the 3rd Magnetron Tube in 6 months. This should not be happening. Contacted Whirlpool direct, asked if we could get the entire oven replaced with a new one. I was informed that this was not a company policy. It was a real waste of time talking to customer service. You Have Been Warned! Do Not Buy A Whirlpool. We bought this Whirlpool washer from Lowes. It is a top loader without the agitator in it. The sales pitch was very good. One of the best washers on the market. It was less than 1 year old when it started getting out of balance. We would stop it and rearrange the clothes and start it back up. Over a few months it just got worse. Now, it will scare you when it gets out of balance. You cant set within 5 of it or it will run you over when it jumps, but you have to set close enough monitoring it or it will run out the door of the utility room after you. Now, I find out the Maytag has bought Whirlpool Corp. Not a good move for them. Whirlpool has mess its own name up, why would Maytag want any part of it? I dont think I will trust Maytag anymore either for fear it may be a Whirlpool.

We bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine a year and a half ago. It started making loud noises over time and finally stopped. Whirlpool did advise us that it was out of warranty but suggested they send a factory repairperson out. They told us depending on the problem they might pay the bill. It turned out that a nut holding the pulley had not been tightened up properly at the factory and had no restraining device, so it simply rattled off over time. Since we dont use the machine that much, the problem went past the 1-year warranty. It cost us two hundred and fourteen dollars for repairs. I could have put the nut back on myself for free. The service guy also said they had multiple similar problems and I should contact Whirlpool and they would probably work with me. No chance. They only kept repeating that it was out of warranty. I even talked with a supervisor who said the same thing. I asked to appeal further and she refused to give me anyone else I could contact. I asked for their legal department information, and she said she did not have that and I would have to get that through my attorney. What a joke. No more Whirlpool for me.

In 2008, I purchased the 40-gal. Whirlpool electric water heater to replace the original unit in my home that had lasted 14 years without issue until it died of old age. After about 2 1/5 years, it died and I was given authorization to return it to Lowes at my insistence. Now after another 2 1/5 years, this one has died. So far, I have replaced both elements, lost a days work, missed out on a date because I could not take a shower and now Im told I have to replace the electrical box on top which wont get here until Monday. Its Saturday and I havent been able to take a shower in my home for 5 days now.The first CSR (Crystal) I spoke with implied that since I had 2 consecutive failures, this was a site problem, not a product problem. Theres nothing special about my site, and my old unit made it 14 years with zero repairs. I would argue that since both of the units only lasted 2 1/5 years, that the product is substandard. I asked to speak to a manager but was told no because they were all busy (no doubt) and her demeanor was unapologetic and unsympathetic. The second CSR (Nick) I spoke with was very nice and at least sympathetic. That goes a long way in customer service, but I was still not allowed to speak with a manager.I am going to try and repair it one more time, but I have zero confidence in Whirlpool and would never buy another Whirlpool product of any sort again. If I get it working, and after all Ive read here I doubt that I will, I will only be using it for the time it takes to get a replacement of another brand. My oven had been temperamental since day one, then got worse over time. I do not use my oven that much so was not really worried or alarmed until a tray of cookies caught fire. It was set at 350 and jumped to 525 on its own. (I bought an oven thermometer to monitor) Minor burn taking tray out but all okay :-). Contacted Lowe’s where we bought it and they would do nothing (note: at this point the oven is 15-months old and out of warranty). Advised me to contact Whirlpool. Did that - they sent out a repair service and they determined it was the temp. sensor. It is now April 2014 and I am still waiting for the part (this all started Sept 2013). I have since talked and wrote to Whirlpool for this to be resolved and also asked that the range be recalled due to fire hazard at the least! When I spoke to them in December, they said they could give me ‘50% off the part’. Remember I am still waiting for that part, lol! Whirlpool Cabrio - Worst washing machine I have ever had. Unbalanced when washing sheets, towels. It does not matter if one sheet or two. I will never buy another one like this again. I would be better off having a twin tub for the amount of time I spend in the laundry to fix this machine when it bangs, bangs because it is unbalanced. HATE, HATE, HATE it.

Freezer side went out on model# ed5kvexvl00. Fridge is less than 2 yr old. Didnt expect anything to go wrong so quick. The extended warranty, I did not purchase. Replaced relay switch - no changes in problem... Contact them (Whirlpool) and like every else, got nowhere with them. 3 weeks and no fridge... Hopefully the compressor is not bad. Will find out soon. I will be researching before I select new appliances in the future. They need to be ashamed of themselves.

Started researching online about a week ago because my dryer was making an awful noise. Found out that the new idler pulley system the company used in my Whirlpool cabrio washer & dryer model (WED5500XW0) was so ineffective that they have since started replacing it with the old part #691366 they used to use. Also I am having a problem with my washer not spinning all of the water out of the clothes. Found out that this is a common problem with this model (WTW5500XW0).Had a certified repairman out to replace the dryer idler pulley system. He also calibrated the washer to see if that may help (it did not). The repairman said that some of the Whirlpool washers had been recalled and he had actually replaced some control panels and that seemed to work. He suggested that I contact Whirlpool. So I contacted Whirlpool, thinking that they obviously knew that there have been many problems with these machines (idler pulley part being discontinued & and recall on SOME models), and thought they would be more than willing to rectify this problem. Well think again! The two young ladies that I spoke with sounded like robots, Unfortunately, you are not within your 1 year manufacturers warranty so there would be nothing we could do at this time. Although I must tell you, the second young lady I spoke with did offer to sell me a new washer at a deep discounted price of $386 (which is only $86 more than fixing the washer). I think everyone who has a problem should contact Whirlpool and express this dissatisfaction. And if you are shopping for a washer and dryer, stay away from Whirlpool because their customer service is disheartening.

My Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling just after a year. I had to buy a $319 warranty. It was fixed, but broke several months later. The repairman said he would try to stop the leak and it worked for a couple more months. The refrigerator was obviously irreparable and we should have had it replaced by Whirlpool at this point. Now, that it broke again (stopped cooling and freezing) the repair service is giving us the runaround. Its over a week and they wanted us to call a repair service and they would reimburse them. The repair service and Whirlwind know about this problem, but refuse to acknowledge it and are getting away with it. With all the comments Im reading here, there should definitely be a recall. Id like to know what it takes to have one authorized.

Whirlpool Cabrio - Our washing machine just started leaking water with oil underneath. This would be our third repair since purchasing this machine but it doesnt sound like a repair is possible or worth it. Its too bad we cant go back to the old models. They definitely lasted longer with no problems. Companies should make the older models bigger and forget about the front loaders and newer models without the agitators. Too much shaking in the machine causes too many repairs!

I am very unhappy with this Whirlpool refrigerator model# GX5FHDXVQ 04. I bought this model in October 2011. You have to push the left door to close it and if you dont then the fridge will stay open. I had a Whirlpool tech come to fix this door problem so this is what he told me: 1) You have to push the door in order to close it properly; 2) Before closing the left door, I should first open the right door (losing energy); 3) The gasket will break very fast; 4) Buy a three-year protection plan because you will have to use it; 5) The freezer is very uncomfortable. In the bottom drawer, you have to fit your stuff. If you put your freezer stuff in a drop higher, then you cant close the drawer, so I am losing space; 6) Sometimes when I fill up the fridge, I move the temperature to #5. After a day, the top shelf back stuff will freeze and the front stuff will stay on fridge temperature. Yesterday, 4-18-2012, for the second time, the freezer gets a sheet of ice. Repairman will repair it but who knows. This fridge looks to me like a lemon. The height is 70 but listed as. I rate this fridge with a CCC.

Its awful! We paid over $600 for our Whirlpool Gold Series convection/microwave clean release oven (model GMH 6185XVQ1). It worked fine for 12.5 months at which time it started clicking and, after a final zapping sound, would not heat anything at all. I called Customer Service, Oh, so sorry, its past its one year warranty. I was finally transferred to Escalations then to the supervisor of the Escalation specialist. Finally, we negotiated that I would pay for the service call ($129) and they would pay for parts (which were around $300 for a fried magnetron, diode, and something else). That repair was 6 months ago. Today while heating a glass of water in our microwave, I heard the familiar zap and no matter what, the microwave will not heat anything. I called Customer Service again, figuring the newer parts were still under warranty. Wrong. The newer parts were only covered for 90 days. This time, they tried to sell me a service plus package. For only $289, they will re-warranty my microwave for 1 year after they come out and fix it again (cost on me). My other option is to pay $129 again for another service call plus any parts (which Im sure will be about the same as last time. I will never buy Whirlpool again! Buyer beware!

Love my new Whirlpool Refrigerator! Works well and no problems for the last year. Filters are pricey but found some at Lowe’s cheaper. Whirlpool stays in touch frequently emailing information about their products, some useful some not applicable. Would I buy this refrigerator again? Yes, I love the ice maker, it is quite large (enough to fill a small cooler), and the convenience of crushed or cubed ice is nice. Most people complain about the motors are loud yet we have not experienced that.

Horrendous product! Purchased December 3, 2014 – had service technician from Whirlpool check the unit for excessive noise 3 months later. Technician said it’s the way it is designed – ice maker in door, air has to be forced up from freezer so it makes a lot of noise! Now, 15 months later, the refrigerator has totally quit. We are waiting for technician from Whirlpool. Obviously, no extended warranty so Whirlpool said they would extend the warranty and cover this visit for $357! How nice of them since they are sure the parts will exceed that amount!!! What a piece of trash – guess the refrigerator is only meant to work about a year! NO MORE WHIRLPOOL! I am thinking about standing outside of Home Depot to warn any customers who are looking for a refrigerator not to buy Whirlpool!Updated 3/23/2016 - To add to our previous review, the service company, AIG finally after 3 days has approved the parts required to fix our with less refrigerator (15 months old.) It will take 8-10 business days for the parts to appear! We have no refrigerator for at least two weeks! Great service from Home Depot and AIG!

We had Whirlpool techs come out and were continually unable to fix the issues. Eventually they told them that it was not broken, even though one tech told us it definitely was. I bought these products 2 1/2 years ago along with a dishwasher and Microwave, all which are Gold Series. The first month my Microwave broke. Instead of a certain part that they used to use, they now use a Capacitor instead and it broke. The repairman fixed it under warranty, but told me Ill be seeing you again. Then, my oven occasionally says Function not available. Whirlpool wont tell me what the problem might be and they have nothing for troubleshooting this problem in their manual. My only solution is to reset the circuit breaker and then it works for awhile. Now, My refrigerator has ice building up at the bottom of my freezer and leaking all over my floor. I found a Whirlpool bulletin online which explains that this problem is because of a defective part (Grommet) and that they have a replacement part for it and you can get it by calling their customer service department. Why didnt they send out recall notices to their customers? So, on 8/10/2015 and 8/11/2015 I tried getting this new p-trap part, but for two days now Whirlpools computers arent working and they have no other way of looking this stuff up. Very poor customer service and I also waited for a half hour on the phone to be told their computers arent working. The appliance sales person advised that we had to go through Whirlpool for repair on a brand new appliance. To date we have had to stay home 2 days and the range is still not working and third service call is now scheduled. A call to Whirlpool ended with them advising that we do not qualify for a replacement range, even though it never worked. We have been without an oven for 6 weeks now which is totally unacceptable. You cannot control anything on this machine. You cannot pre-fill to dilute
You cannot control anything on this machine. You cannot pre-fill to dilute detergent- you cannot choose temp because what you choose is changed by the machine (manual). You cannot choose your own combinations of temp, water volume, and timing. Once the ** thing starts you cant change anything, like the setting you wish to use. Do NOT BELIEVE THIS IS ENERGY EFFICIENT. There is a REASON that this machine has a 2nd rinse. It is because so little water is used that it does not allow soap, lint or dirt to have anywhere to go but back into your clothes. YOU have to trick it out to get enough water to actually get some loads truly wet. EVER! You stand there like an idiot opening and closing the lid just to get enough water to dilute the detergent. You cant pre fill and then add your detergent because, it needs to sense your clothes load. Wont fill with the lid open. You cant rinse the detergent cup out. You only get to do what Whirlpool already knows about your needs. Oh & lets not forget the spin cycle. When you open the lid, large items like sheets will look like a pancake made from one of the sheets. However underneath will be a tangle of the rest of your wash worthy of a Gordian knot. You can yank your shoulders out trying to dislodge the clothes. Spin yes, I guess it did, I just didnt need permanent press wrinkles. And thats if you CAN actually open the lid. For some idiopathic reason the lid may be on lock. Good luck with that. Most often, youll find no reason that you can discern like an unbalanced load or as the booklet suggests, you havent figured out how to load a machine. I hate the design of this so much that I called the company and they said that they would send a repair man out to see if its working. Whats he going to do? Run a couple of washes and say hey thats how they design these things? They will not replace it. They do not stand behind their products. You are stuck with bad design period.Describe Yourself: Frequent User. Service/Delivery: It came with a big dent in the dryer we bought with it. Installer dudes crossed the hot with the cold. Whirlpool will not stand behind the products they make & they make lots of the brand names. So they figure they can just do exactly what they want and youre screwed because even under warranty, theyll only fix the mess of engineering they designed in the first place. Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am so bummed that this fridge died. It was perfect in size and function and appearance. I didnt use the ice maker. The compressor appears to be the potential problem. Now the refrigerator cools, but it runs 100% of the time. I dont mean frequently, I mean it NEVER. SHUTS. OFF. Its never not running. Today a technician came out, and after 1.5 hrs of diagnostics on the phone with a Whirlpool engineer, theyve declared that it works. Ice maker stopped making ice. This side by side Whirlpool refrigerator was purchased 4 years ago. We called Whirlpool. An authorized repair man identified the problem. At the bottom hinge of the freezer door two of the wires have been broken. A defective design, but no recall from Whirlpool. The solution is to replace the entire freezer door for a cost of $1200. Ridiculous that a replacement door cost more than the purchase price from Lowes. It would appear that these 2 wires could be reconnected, but Whirlpools only solution is an entire new door. My wife and I purchased the Whirlpool calypso washer and dryers and have been regretting ever purchasing a Whirlpool product. Not more than a year and a half after spending thousands of dollars on their products the troubles started. I called the company and they sent someone out to look at it for repair. He vacuumed out the lines and kept restarting it over and over and eventually it started working again and they charged a hundred dollars and something and said there most likely be more problems since they have many calls on this issue. Sure enough it started again and just kept retrying it over and over to get it to work again as well as vacuumed the lines again like he did. Now its at the point it will not work no matter what. It just keeps flashing LD and shuts down. So I did a online search for other consumers having the same problem and was shocked by the amount of the same problem with others (search this model flashing LD and you will see for yourself). When I contacted Whirlpool they played dumb and lied right thru their teeth saying they have no issues with this model and refused to do anything. I have since learned there has been court cases where the courts ruled against them saying that it was defective and had to notify consumers which they never did. Even when the repairman came out nothing was said. I have since learned that all they did was changed the name to a different model which is having the same problem (no kidding!!) and continued to rip the public off in the name of CORPORATE Greed!!!!! I advise everybody never to purchase a Whirlpool product ever again and maybe we can bankrupt them and put them out of business where they belong. All the customer service agents deserve to be unemployed and suffering after long waits on the phone and then lying straight face to the consumers. Pure evil!!!! We all have to stick together and bring these criminals down. How can they say we have no issues when a simple search of Whirlpool Calypso problems with draining and flashing LD and shutting down. There are thousands of people complaining and no action is done. Shame on these people and their souls are lost forever. Never buy a Whirlpool product and tell everybody you know to stay away! They should have their ** and/or ** cut off and have to suffer the same way the struggling consumers are after scrounging up thousands of dollars for a 200-pound metal paper weight that aint worth a damn!!!!

Repair person replaced a clogged plug leading to evaporation tray. Its March 2013 and repair person now has to replace evaporator motor part # W10128551. I contacted Whirlpool and was told the warranty has expired (one year). This repair will be around $175. How can I trust a Whirlpool product in the future?

The price expensive for the quality of the Whirlpool Refrigerator. In some parts looks like unfinished and you can see the glue and inside foam. The space is limited for big containers like milk and the fridge gets full with two bags of chicken breast.

My oven was 11 months old when I tried to use the self-clean cycle for the first time. 2 hours into the 4 hour cycle, the oven completely shut down, door locked shut and no lights on the control panel. The repair tech came out on a warranty repair call (no charge), explained that Whirlpool does not use a thermal protector rated for a self-cleaning oven and that it blows every time. He then proceeded to replace it with the same thing because he is only allowed to put in the recommended part, which is not rated for the high temp cleaning cycle. So the oven is usable, but not the self-clean. Since I am at the end of the 1 yr warranty period, even if I were able to get Whirlpool to replace the oven (ha!) there would be no warranty because I only get the original time limit. So if I had a new oven and it blew out, it would not be under warranty for fix/replace. The repair tech said this is a COMMON problem with Whirlpool self-clean.
