I have a Maytag Centennial washer & dryer put into service in August 20
I have a Maytag Centennial washer & dryer put into service in August 2011. The washer has recently gotten quite noisy, so I had a repairman out to look at it. He found that the bearings are going out & estimated repair costs at $360. He actually did not recommend repair, as the repair costs approach half the price of a new washer. I am very angry about this, as this is quite a new washer & was not a cheap model. There are only 2 of us in the house, so I only wash an average of half a dozen loads a week. I never jam the tub full, basically baby the washer so it will last. Much good that has done! Im old enough to remember when Maytag was the best in laundry appliances, expected to last for many years. I bought the Maytag because my last (top-of-the-line) Whirlpool set required a number of repairs, not realizing that Whirlpool had purchased Maytag. I will be using this washer until the bearing seize & then I will be buying a non-Whirlpool product Im afraid that will mean a foreign brand. I really prefer to buy American, but apparently, thanks to Whirlpool, that is no longer possible!

A washer should last 10 years. Bought it in 2009 - after two years we spent $200+ on seal and bearings. Now, in 2014 we need more seal and bearings and the service tech recommended by Maytag says the cost will be $500+. Machine has a serious design flaw, and bad parts, and bad service.

I have a 50/50 chance of completing a wash cycle. Most times, the washer stops working at 8 minutes remaining in ANY cycle. The washer will leave me with wet clothing and refuses to spin even when most wet, dripping articles are removed. I have tried to put all light-weight items together and that still is not a guarantee that I can get this done in one cycle. Most often, the error code comes up, I spin the drum around, move the clothing around and try again. This process is NOT energy efficient which is why I bought the ** thing in the first place. I am ready to put it on the curb for the trash man to pick up.We had a service person out and he said it is either the bearings or the motor (both a $400 job). I will NEVER buy another front-loading washing machine. At least with the old-fashioned top loaders you can get the load balanced and at least get clothing to go through the spin cycle. I am now hand-wringing clothing once again since the machine tells me when it will spin my clothing. That stupid chime is about to send me out of my mind!

The Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Washer has to be the crappiest product I have ever bought. I bought it brand new and hardly ever used it. The first time it broke it was luckily under warranty, although we had to pay for the repair man to install it. It took two new circuit boards before it was fixed. A few months later, the circuit board went again, and it was conveniently for Maytag now out of warranty. The repair man told us that their company never carried these washers because from the get go they had a ton of problems. He said that the odds of it breaking again were great and that we would be better off putting the money into a new washer.I dont understand how the company, in good conscience, could continue to sell a product to consumers that they knew was faulty. It was not a cheap washer and I have never been so disappointed in my life. You would think they would have had a mass recall or, knowing how many problems consumers were having with the product, offer so much money towards a new one.I laugh at the commercials where the Maytag man was bored because their product never broke I could have kept that man busy for months!

I purchased a Maytag dryer (MDE2400AZW) 2 years ago, but have only been using it for the last year - and fairly infrequently, as this is a dryer that my guests use. I called Home Depot where I bought the dryer (along with the washer). I thought I had purchased an extra warranty, but turns out I only had it on the washer - what was I thinking. I wish I had read these reviews before I made my purchase. My local repair man charged me $192.00 for a new heater and his time. Theres a whole 90-day warranty on the new heater!! I sure hope this one lasts more than a year otherwise Ill be buying a new dryer and it wont be Maytag.

I would highly recommend you do some research on the Maytag bravos XL machines and dryer. This thing is about as good as a piece of paperweight thrown in the fire for no good of nothing. Warranty ran out but it has a 10 year warranty so I don’t understand, bought one year ago been broke down three times in that time. Speed queen all the way.

Maytag model MBF1958XEQ1 frost build up and ice build up bottom freezer 2011 model. Recently refrigerator not able to stay cold. Contacted Associated Service Corp. because my fridge had a ten year warranty on the compressor only. It cost me $377 dollars to have a service tech change the circuit board and remove a rubber drain valve that was blocking the excess water drain to the evaporator tray. It is working well now but will keep looking for ice build up.

Brand new Maytag dishwasher, model #MDB6709AWBO, installed after one year warranty because of extended time needed to complete kitchen. It just never worked. Repairman says control panel faulty. Sears wont help or replace. Sears’ service is extremely poor, over one hour on phone transferred over and over and then told too bad by a Supervisor. After checking this site, I realized Maytag suck. And what to do now that I paid $700++ for fancy dishwasher that doesnt work. By looking at other peoples complaint, it will break down over and over.

Maytag bottom freezer / refrigerator: What a low-quality operation these guys are operating. We have a 5-year-old double door unit, which is not a cheap ticket item; and we thought that Maytag was from the days of old. The compressor failed along with ice makers and some high-use parts inside. I can understand the plastic lids and guides wearing out with heavy use, but not the compressor. I called Maytag and was directed to their proud Tennessee Service Location. It might as well be in China, where the real owners are located. She said, Oh well, we build quality units that are to last 12 years. However, they are man-made, and you cant count on that being a positive thing. What arrogance. I might get stuck with another brand from Asia. But it will never be a Maytag or any other in their family of products. The repairman is really busy these days.

Ive had my Maytag microwave (MMV4203DS00) for a little over two years. I started getting SE error code. The control touch pad membrane is shorted out. I suspect because the design doesnt allow it to be an over-the-range even though thats the kind of microwave it is! I think the humidity from the burners shorted out the membrane. I called the company and the part would cost approximately $180 for me to fix myself. I have a really hard time believing that one part of a $200 microwave costs $180. Ridiculous. It appears this microwave is designed to fail. Customer service was rude and snarky. The company doesnt appear to stand behind their product. Maytag used to mean something. I had started to replace all my kitchen appliances - microwave, then stove. I thought Id be consistent and buy Maytag based on their reputation. I will never buy Maytag again.

Purchased Maytag washer Centennial Econoserve washer. It was 2 years old Aug 2013. Washer stopped working Sept 16, 2013. Of course since it had Maytag name brand, I did not purchase extended warranty due to thinking it would at least last more than several years. I called Maytag/Whirlpool. They gave me name of authorized repair in our area. So far they have come out 2 times. $560.00 later, it is still not working and they have no answer as to how or what to do. We are now into $1300.00 between purchase and repairs and still no washer. We are retired hard working people and this is really a bad way to treat consumers. Maytag customer service could care less about the situation. They just say we should have purchased extended warranty.

I purchased a Maytag Bravos 500 Series HE washer. 3/2013. The machine sensor started giving problems less than 2 years after purchase. The sensor is not working. The wash lights stays on, and the clothes are not cleaned. I have to manually turn the dial to put in on the rinse cycle and then turn the dial to the spin cycle. Its a piece of junk. I called Maytag twice and the only thing the representatives on the phone say: I will send a certified technician to see whats the problem. Price: $129.00 service call and additional costs for labor, parts, etc. Maytag had a very good reputation for its products. Will never buy anything Maytag or any products that fall under that brand.

Washer Model MVWC555DWO. I dont like this machine. I thought Maytag is a good brand name, but I dont think so anymore. The engineers who designed these new machines with the water level saver dont do laundry. In order to get the cloth covered with water, I have to use the bulky sheet level. I have 2 jeans and a sheet that got holes in them, because the water level was not right. I would have my old machine repaired, if I have know how my new one would do. Im stuck with this machine. I dreaming that this machine breaks down soon and I can buy a new that has a better water level. My old one had water saver level too, but did a great job with the water level.

I purchased a Bravo Washer and Dryer from Home Depot. The Maytag Bravo washer and dryer we purchased from Home Depot did not work from the beginning. Before I called Maytag, I tried for several months to redo the way I was loading the washer and dryer.I tried several different settings however, the clothing keeps coming out smelling like it is still worn. Spots are in the clothing that normally comes out with a washing (with my prior washer). The clothing just does not get cleaned and it gets so tangled that it has ruined some of my clothing. There is clumping of the detergent, even though not a lot has been used.I had the repair company come out three times for both the washer and the dryer. They have checked and no errors codes where found. One gentleman told me again to redo the way I load the washer and the dryer. I have done it so many times, but I tried again and even purchased little dryer balls. It made no difference.I called Maytag again and was told they would have to have another company come in and do a second opinion. The person came and said that he agreed that the washer should be able to wash and the dryer should be working correctly. He recommended that a possible problem with the motherboard for the dryer (which was a possible problem mentioned by visit #2) could be handled, but he had to have it approved. He would check with the company and get back to me. I received a call the next day and a message was left telling me there is nothing he can do with the washer. He was told by Maytag/Whirlpool that I should only fill the tub lightly and not pack it down (I told everyone how I load and I never pack my clothing down). The washer should, when loaded with wet clothing, be only 1/3 to full otherwise it decreases the wash ability dramatically. The problem of the siphoning action for the softener section of the washer should be handled by running boiling water through the tube to loosen up the wax portion of the softener. The possible correction for the dryer exchanging the motherboard (it could be set incorrectly) was turned down by saying that the dryer is running to Maytag/Whirlpool’s satisfaction and nothing else would be done, since there are no error codes for both washer and dryer. My towels have a mildew odor to them when they are used. They have to be washed twice and run through the dryer a long time before I can put them away. I purchased a high capacity washer and dryer and I am told now not to fill it more then 1/2 full. That is not what I was told by the person selling it. Otherwise, I would not have purchased this set at all.

At that same time I bought a Maytag bottom freezer from Home Depot... It has never worked right. Ice dispenser broken after 1 year, food freezing in fridge at any temperature... It just died! Maytag refuses to take any responsibility for THIS POS!They should be ashamed at the way they treated me. I purchased the Maytag Bravo Series in August 2010. Two weeks ago, I had to replace the idler pulley on the dryer which was no easy task. Now today I was washing a load of clothes only to walk into my utility room and find it flooded. This didnt even start out as a small leak so at least you would have a warning. On the spin cycle, the washer is making a clanging sound. These were not cheap models. I paid $1600 for the set. I will never buy another Maytag product especially after reading all the complaints that people have had about this series. Why hasnt something been done to protect the consumer? I did not purchase the extended warranty as I thought Maytag sold a good product. I owned another set of Maytags that were almost 30 years old when we got rid of them and did minimal repairs over the years. We are only a household of 3. It is not like these appliances are overloaded or abused. Its very disheartening. In this economy, most dont have money to just throw away and that is what I feel like I did!

Purchased a Maytag fridge April of 2012. Within a few months the freezer was not keeping the food cold enough. I had a lot of food loss. I called Home Depot and they refused to give me a new fridge. They said to call the Mfg. That I did and all they did was send out a service man. This has been fixed 5 times for the same thing. The problem now is that the Extended warranty company refuse to repair it now that they know that it was a pre-existing condition that should have been taken care of under the Mfg. warranty. I paid 180.00 for an extended warranty that now is worthless. I just threw out roughly 200.00 worth of food. Now my lettuce is frozen, eggs are frozen. My husband is disabled and money is not plentiful. I dont know where to turn. Frustrated.

Update 3/7/2018. I have been without a working microwave since 1/23/2018. Technician sent from Maytag came out to repair it and said he needed to order a new board and door switches. These items were installed on 2/26/2018 but did not solve the issue. The technician said the microwave needed to be re-wired completely and would schedule for the microwave to be removed and brought to shop where it would be repaired. After I called Maytag and explained the situation they told me they would replace the microwave (with the same model.) I called today to get an update on when the new microwave would be installed and they said not for another 14-21 days!!! After expressing my displeasure at the whole situation I was told by the Maytag representative that I could choose any new microwave model (under $399) from the lines of Maytag, Whirlpool, Armana, or Kitchen Aid. It would take about 14 days for delivery and they would schedule the installation at no additional cost to me. So now I am researching microwaves again!!! Ill update this review once the new microwave is installed.

I purchased the Maytag Bravos MCT HE washer in 2011. Its about 3 1/2 years old and there was a very loud noise when the washer went into the spin cycle. Called the repair man and they told me the bearing and spin basket needed replaced. I had always had Kenmores with very little issues and they lasted for 12 years plus each. I get the HE model from Maytag and cant even go 3 1/2 years without some major issue. I called Maytag (Whirlpool) to complain and they said there wasnt anything they could do. I reminded them that I had checked for recalls on this model and looked into some of the complaints about this washer and that there were many of the same issues that I had plus many others. I felt like there should have been a recall on the bearing since they are going out too soon for this kind of a washer. I guess the Maytag repair man is now busier than ever since I dont see them on any advertisements anymore. Well, I will never buy a Maytag or Whirlpool appliance again after this.

I wished I researched more before I purchased, but like most people, I believed in the reputation of Maytag. Like many others - my control panel started to go out 19 months after install: Had my first event with the washer; it would not allow me to select normal wash. A high-end machine shouldnt have electrical connection problems within 19 months, just 7 months after the warranty expires. When the repairman pulled apart our machine, he found a similarly burned looking touchpad ribbon cable, that was burned in exactly the same position as the photos shown on Maytags website under the review referred to. Maytag/Whirlpool has set up a special phone number to deal with this problem: I dialed 1-866-931-7384... Been on hold for over an hour Of course - NO answer! Ill try later but I am very angry that this has been a known issue BEFORE I purchased mine at Home Depot. What a piece of junk. This is the last Maytag Ill ever buy again. In March 2014 I purchased all my kitchen appliances from Home Depot. Everything was Whirlpool except the dishwasher, a Maytag. The floor in my kitchen is wood, and I noticed that the finish was coming up in the area around the dishwasher. I called an accredited service company and the technician said the appliance was not level and proceeded to do that. Next, tech #2 - dishwasher not level, fixed it - different company. Tech #3 - dishwasher not level, fixed it, said perhaps I did not load the appliance properly and water splashed out! Dishwasher continued to leak, floor continued to warp. Came back as #4 and decided it was the control in door. Ordered new one, installed it - dishwasher leaked. Called Maytag at that point. They refuse to accept that it is defective merchandise, will not replace it on my word. They need a tech to certify that it is unfixable. Tune in tomorrow. This will be #5. My best advise at this time is Do Not Buy a Maytag appliance. They will not stand behind their products! Home Depot order # below.. Appliance model #MDB8959SBS.

I can honestly say that my Maytag refrigerator is indeed the worse appliance that I have ever purchased. This is how it rolled... I bought a new Maytag stove, frig, microwave, and dishwasher in June of 2006. Here is what I am now dealing with... the frig went on the fritz 2 years ago (warranty expired). The problem being the freezer would not automatically defrost. Because of this the coils would ice up and this prevented the cold air from moving from the freezer into the frig part. Things remained frozen in the freezer, but everything became warm on the other side, the frig side. I had it repaired about a year and a half ago to the tune of $165. Then about 6 months ago the problem reoccurred, but instead of paying for another repair I figured out that if I used my blow dryer I could defrost the ice from the coils on my own.Unfortunately, the problem reoccurs more frequently now and I have to manually defrost the coils almost every week. This past weekend things finally came to an end as no matter how many times I manually defrosted the coils, it would be fully iced up again with an hour or so. Also, all the time it is acting up it just sucks up electricity, and I have notice a spike upwards on my energy bill. It must be related to the frig. So, I bit the bullet and bought a used frig on craigslist just to hold me over until I have time to do research on what appliance brand is indeed reliable. I should of done this before I bought my Maytag appliances from Home Depot. As far as my other Maytag appliances, here is their current condition. Microwave about the stove: the handle broke off a little less than 2 years after purchase. Stove: now has rust on the front of stove, at the bottom of the stove which is a pull out drawer.Dishwasher: not working at all. The start button doesnt work. Normally, you just push the button and a green light comes on and it begins the first cycle. This is no longer happening and no green light comes on. Refrigerator: Took it to the dumps this morning to be recycled. Cant believe it, all of these appliances are nothing but crap and I will never purchase another Maytag. I have shared my experiences with all my family and friends and have encouraged them to avoid Maytag, as it is not even close to being the product it used to be. Another piece of junk coming from somewhere other than here in the USA. We lose jobs here in the US, and then end up buying the goods from another country that makes inferior products. How stupid can we get!

I purchased our Maytag Dishwasher in 2014 (Model # MDB77495B) and after a little over a year, of course after the warranty had expired the panel started to act up. I did get it repaired costing over $300 for parts and service thinking all is well. The repairman that came out had to come out twice once to look at and then again to fix after the part came in. We had a conversation and he said that was common with this brand, the steam sometimes affects the panel. I spoke with Maytag about getting an extended warranty but after looking at the cost passed on it. Well now the panel is acting up again. If Maytag thinks I am going to have another repairman come out well think again. I will see how much the part cost and do it myself if it cheap enough, if not I guess Ill be back to washing dishes by hand for awhile. I bought this brand feeling that it was American made and the cost was on the expensive side that it would last. I am disappointed that this has happened again. For the money spent it should last at least 10 years. My old dishwasher that was given to me used lasted over 15 years with not one problem. Its a shame we cannot get good working appliances as we did back in the day.

I just had an astonishing phone call with Maytag customer service (1-800-344-1274). My mind is boggled; my tongue is tied. Only Consumeraffairs.com can offer relief from the bleak, solitary misery engendered by this disorienting encounter. I called Maytag to seek information regarding the number of gallons used by any of the wash cycles of the Maytag BRAVOS series 300 (Model: MVWB450WQ2). I live in California, and like millions of others, Im curious as to what the maximum amount of water used per wash might be. I told the customer service agent that Id be happy with an estimate of any parameter: the maximum water demand for any cycle, the minimum, the average any ballpark estimate would be great! My goal is to change in a meaningful way our weekly water use. How much does it matter if I do my familys laundry once vs. twice per week? Is it any more water-efficient to run one large load vs. two small ones? The Customer Service agents would offer only a scripted response to my query. Could they tell me the minimum or maximum amount of water used (on average) by any of the cycles? Any cycle any condition, just an estimate, please. A universal it depends was all I could extract. The scripted answer? The amount of water used depends on the sensor and the exact conditions. Well, yes, of course; I dont expect a specific amount. Just as the amount of gas used by a car depends on the length of a trip and the speed driven, the amount of water used per cycle will vary, but nevertheless we know, more or less, how much gas is used by a Toyota Camry on a trip between New York and the Maytag Customer Service office in Benton Harbor, Michigan. I noted that, if Maytag claims to build high efficiency (HE) machines, then they must be HE in comparison to something, right? -- otherwise how could they claim that these machines used less water? Less than... what?** insisted that no one at Maytag could tell me the answer. He asked, What reason could Maytag have not to disclose this information? I know this isnt the answer you want to hear, but its simply not available. Not even a range of water use per cycle required/solicited/demanded by the sensor? Can Maytags engineers be so indifferent that they never tested any cycle for its water use, but instead they just imagine that, by virtue of its mysterious sensor, it was lower than the use by their non-efficient machines? Your help in getting to the bottom of what felt like an act of stonewalling would be highly appreciated!

Echoing the sentiments of others on this site, I am deeply disappointed in Maytag brand appliances manufactured by the Whirlpool Corp. When, for the first time in my life, I was able to buy all brand new kitchen appliances, I didnt even consider any other brand but Maytag. This was based on many decades of using Maytag products and watching my mother use them. I come from a big family so our appliances got used hard, and the Maytag brand ones worked year after year, decade after decade with little or no maintenance. To put it quite frankly, my new Maytag products are junk. I could supply a whole laundry list of problems but, in the interest of space, will just tell about the latest. A couple of weeks ago the fake tin foil paint on my oven and burner knobs just started falling off, revealing cheap plastic underneath. When I called Maytag to complain, I was asked how I clean the knobs. I told them that when I clean the stove front I remove the knobs and drop them in warm water with a couple drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid for the few minutes it takes to clean and polish the stove front, and that I had been using this same procedure for 2 years. The rep. hemmed and hawed awhile and then went away to consult her database. When she returned she told me that one is not allowed to soak the knobs per the manual, and therefore she could not offer any help. She then generously offered to transfer me to the parts department, where the rep. informed me that replacements would cost $70 EACH, thats a total of $350 plus shipping for 5 cheap plastic knobs. WOW! What a deal! I tell everyone I meet NOT to buy any Maytag branded product, and to apply extreme skepticism before considering any Whirlpool product. (BTW - the last certified Maytag appliance repairman to come & fix one of the appliances essentially admitted they are junk.) Model #: MGR8775AS SN: R32810432.

2 years ago I purchased a Maytag Washer & Gas Dryer. Unfortunately, I did not invest or believe in extended warranties. I believe in trying to buy quality products. The door on the washer would not open and 2 error codes were displayed. I was trying to add another piece of laundry and the washer had just started. I canceled the load, waited for the door lock light to go out, but the door would not open. The error codes began displaying E3 and F5. I immediately went to the Maytag website for a resolution. The suggestions did not work and was instructed to obtain service if they did not. I called for a service call for $35, but was told that the repair would be over $300 for parts and that was not including labor. The parts I needed were a control panel and a part for the door lock. This was not a Maytag Company service tech and he told me that this happens because the parts are plastic. Currently, besides a Maytag Washer & Dryer I have a microwave, stove, and dishwasher that are also Maytag. When I replace these appliances, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG PRODUCT. I expect the quality and life of an appliance to be more than 2 years, without buying an extended warranty. When I told a friend what had happened with my Maytag Washer, she told me that she had a Maytag Washer broke down with a control panel problem, and she couldnt remember the other part. She informed me that her repair was over $500.

I purchased one of the first Impeller washer and dryer. The dryer is great, but the washer needed repair immediately. Home Depot refused to exchange the pair, so I will never buy from them again. The washer takes over an hour to complete the wash cycle, has to be set on Bulk in order to get enough water for a decent wash, and is extremely rough on clothing. Its made holes in some of my shirts and everything comes out twisted without enough rinsing. Sleeves are always turned inside out. Thats how rough it is. It costs me more in water and electricity. Neither Home Depot nor Maytag would replace the pair for me.

I bought this washer 2 years ago, it has always been noisy and not cleaned or rinsed my clothes very well. With dark clothes, I have to rinse them twice if not three times. Now it has quit throwing out the water all together and is not rinsing the clothes at all. Paid $72 for a repair man to hook it up to his computer and tell me there was nothing wrong with it. Told me it was how I was loading it. I dont think so. Now I have to replace a two-year old machine. I will buy a basic machine that only washes my clothes this time. Nothing is made to last these days.

A lot of the reviews contain complaints about the Bravos XL MCT top load washer. We purchased one in December, 2015, and so far have not had any problems. We had a 3 yr old Whirlpool side loading washer that we just gave away, as it never got enough water to even dampen a comforter or quilt. This machine works very well, in spite of lower level of water. I was pleasantly surprised when I could see the water level with the first load! The controls are not as intuitive as other machines; e.g. spin only requires you to select Rinse/Spin cycle, and THEN turn OFF extra rinse. Perhaps the proper way is to have a Spin-Only cycle, and then tell the user to click the extra rinse ON. We do probably 1 load a day. Water bill has not been significantly higher than when we had the Whirlpool that hardly used any water. Today, though, a heavy quilt (it WAS distributed evenly around the impeller) was put on Bedding so the water level would be a bit higher to ensure the entire quilt was wet. Fine so far. However, during the Spin Cycle, the unbalance became so violent that the washer stopped for a few seconds and then went BACK to the Rinse cycle. It did this several times before we realized that the time remaining had not gone down in over 30 minutes. My guess was that the sensor believed that maybe some additional water with another Rinse cycle MIGHT even out the load. It didnt. I finally stopped the machine, redistributed the quilt and then ran the Rinse/Spin cycle, choosing NOT to do the extra rinse. All came out fine. There was NOTHING in the manual indicating that this might be needed, except for the instructions to Spin only. If I have any other problems, I will send here.

We bought our Maytag Bravo top loader on May 5, 2010. The machine was working fine. Then last week with no warning, the F51 error code popped up. We called Sears and they sent a repairman out. The result was the sensors work independently from each other (tested correct in the Ohms range). It made it through an entire diagnostic test, but will not complete a wash cycle. The repair guy concluded that the control board was bad. Estimated cost to fix was upwards of $400. I cannot afford to fix. Our issue with this product is that it is apparent, from reading all the forums, that this is a known issue. And we believe Maytag should be reimbursing consumers for this repair or they should recall the washer. Our washer is used on the weekends and it should have lasted us for minimally five years. All we wanted was to make it through one military overseas tour with it, not asking much. Instead, this machine lasted two years. Unacceptable.

We bought a Maytag dishwasher in May of last year. The control panel went out about 3 months after we got it. It just started doing its own thing Like not running the wash cycle or a different cycle than we pushed. We called for a repair and were told by the repair man that the control panel was on the fritz. He ordered a new one and told us it would be a month before he could come back and install it. When the control panel showed up at our house, we installed it ourselves because we did not want to have a faulty dishwasher running in the house.Just yesterday we noticed a huge rusty area on the bottom rack. We called and were hold for 20 minutes if not more, before we were even able to talk to a rep. She then came up with every excuse as to why our rack was rusty (hard water, water changing??). We asked for a new rack but she wanted to send a repair kit. We were on the phone with her for half an hour, if not more, and she just refused to send a new rack. When we finally asked to speak to the manager we were told the wait time was 32 minutes and hung up! Do not buy crappy Maytag appliances with even crappier customer service reps! We purchased a Maytag from Lowes about 3 years ago. The spin function quit working properly last Feb 19. We paid $350 to have parts replaced thinking it was a fluke and we would be set for a long time to come. Well, last week the same thing happened... not even a year later. Lowes doesnt care and Maytag doesnt care. They want you to spend more to get a warranty to get you to 5 years... well as far as I am concerned that is not good enough. An appliance should last 10-15 years. This Maytag was to replace a Whirlpool that caught all of our clothes in the agitator fins, so after a short period of dealing with that we paid out for a Maytag without an agitator. So in the span of 6 years... we had about $1,500 of dissatisfaction. I believe our repair guy said they the companies are one and the same. Selling junk ought to be illegal.

We purchased a wall oven model MEW7530DE 11/8/2014 which was installed the first part of December 2014. From the beginning the temp was not constant and everything baked was either burned or under baked. The first repairman said the control panel was faulty and was replaced four months after purchase, the problem continued. After three more repairmen all from different companies concluded they could find no problem and thats just how ovens work now. We contacted the owner of Hamiltons Appliance, where the oven was purchased, and requested a replacement oven which was accomplished December 2015.New oven, same problem, very disappointing. My wife has been baking for over 50 years and has never experienced problems and frustration on this level. The condition of the oven is totally unacceptable and with all the effort by us and others we are at a loss. We purchased an extended warranty which has resulted not fixing of the problem. We hired an electrician to inspect the wiring in case that was the problem, costing us $200. The wiring was all good. What do we do next and what are our options short of another new oven. WHAT IS MAYTAGS RESPONSIBILITY? Respectfully, a very unhappy customer.

He came out on 11/21/17 and determined the board was bad and that he would order one and be back on 11/29/17. A week without a washer doesnt work for a family of 5. This isnt like a lawn mower I use once a week, we use it daily. Whatever happened to quality control? A brand new expensive product breaks in 2 days? I purchased a Maytag refrigerator from a local business (Decker and Sons in Grand Rapids, Michigan). The fridge is a French door style with the freezer on the bottom and a water dispenser/ice maker in the left door. In the 19 months weve owned the unit weve had to have service three times. One time for the freezer door not shutting correctly, and two times because the refrigerator portion quit cooling (freezer was fine). Both times it was due to something breaking that defrosts the area behind the vegetable drawers. Both times all of our food went bad. Second time it took almost two weeks to fix (Diamond was the repair service). Now, after the service, the left door doesnt shut correctly. The quality of the unit is so questionable that I hesitate to fill it back up with food. Its just plain old junk. Luckily, we purchased a five year warranty when we purchased it...but we thought the service would be performed by the shop where we bought it, but its farmed out to other repair providers.

The engineer that got the bright idea to protect us from starting the microwave without opening and closing the door along with the engineer that designed the defective switch scheme should be fired immediately.I purchased the unit March 2016 to replace a 10-year-old Maytag that had a failed magnetron, no problems ever with the door switches! This unit started to act up in Dec 2016 with the fatal open/close door problem, I am an EE so I opened the unit and checked the switches and found they were defective, replaced both for $80 and 6 months later the problem is back. I am buying another brand as I dont have time to deal with the problems with this unit. I now have the old white 15-year-old unit that I replaced years ago sitting on the counter to use while another unit is on order. Unit is heading for the landfill next month. I purchased my Maytag MDB7749AWM2 dishwasher approximately 3 years ago. Since it was stainless inside and out I felt that I was making a long-lasting purchase. The handle on this particular model doesnt have a latch release button. You are actually just pulling the door open. That would be fine if they had used something besides plastic on the control panel cover where the handle is built into. The control panel is only held together with plastic pieces that the screws go into. After only a couple of years of pulling on this the plastic parts holding the screws have all broken causing my control panel to just flash. My husband is a maintenance engineer and upon taking the screws out couldnt believe with such a high quality machine that they had used plastic in the main place where they needed strength. The wiring was cut so short to the control panel that one of the plugs had come undone when the cover began separating. I only need the plastic cover because my control panel is working fine but of course you have to buy the entire control unit which is $150.I purchased Maytag because I thought they represented a reputable American company but I was very wrong. When I contacted Maytag about the problem they were very unconcerned and just gave me a link where I could purchase the part. When I told them it would be my last Maytag product they didnt even have a comment. Giving Made in America a bad name.

I purchased a beautiful Maytag dishwasher for $700+ and it died after a year of use. I called Maytag to complain and they dont care. Pay $350 for a tech to come fix its warranted for a year or fix it yourself. I fixed it myself for $180 and am hoping the very same key panel wont fail again. I know it will. I wrote to Maytag about the issue and have not gotten a response. Im hopeful that they will make this right or that they get sued and the consumers get their money back.

I have a Maytag fridge/freezer model number MFF2557 10403089ER. The freezer keeps going out. The repairman replaced the computer board called a jazz board stating that the bulbs in the fridge part are too close to the board and the heat can cause the board to short out. He suggested switching bulbs to 25 watts which cannot be found for fridges. The freezer continues to go out and sometimes restarts itself or by flipping the breaker switch, brings it back. In the meantime, food is ruined. Yesterday, he put a new starter relay on the compressor stating that this series of fridge/ freezer has had a problem with the compressor and Maytag will not take responsibility for this. There is no recall at this time and we are waiting to see if this corrects the problem or if the freezer will continue to go out. Thank you for your help in this matter.

I purchased a Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 400 in 2010 and it is now leaking like crazy and sounds like the bearings are going or gone in it. I researched washing machines for over a month before purchasing, and it seemed like this would be the machine for our active family. So much for research. It washes clothes okay, but is a bit rough on them. I found that it has ripped some of my more delicate items. When I contacted Maytag, they sent me an email with contact information to purchase a maintenance contract for $395 which would cover the machine for only 1 year. My husband is very mechanical and took the washer apart thinking the seal/gasket may have come off. He cleaned up the seal and the area around it, and put the seal back on. It did not help. He also noticed that the drive shaft to the motor was beginning to RUST! This machine is only 2 1/2 years old! So, if you are noticing that your whites are getting orange spots on them, this is probably happening to your washer, as well. Maytag should step up to the plate and recall this machine.

We purchased a Maytag front load washer and matching dryer in 2007. In 2010, the main control board of the washer broke down. We spent $450 to replace it.In 2014, the washer stopped working. The dryer started producing horrid odor when we used it. We replaced both with LG recently. We NEVER buy or recommend Maytag products. Stay away from Maytag. There are many other reliable washers and dryers in the market. This is to help other consumers.

I had the microwave serviced and they heated a cup of water which was fine. I heat food on the tray and only one side gets heated. I have to turn the plate to heat the rest of the food. I never had that problem with a turntable microwave. I cannot understand why they are still selling this inferior product. Maytag used to have excellent products. What happened to this company?

My Bravos Washer and Gas dryer are only a few years old, and they have both been problematic to say the least! Neither Home Depot nor Maytag have been helpful. My washer has had the shocks replaced already, because it would constantly go off balance and shut down and they cant grease the bearings because they are sealed. So, now it sounds like an airport is in my laundry room! The gas dryer takes an entire day to half dry a load and its burnt on the inside!

I purchased the Maytag double-oven gas range, Model MGT8775XS, in 2013. The quality of this double-oven stove cannot be understated. Performance? Terrible. Reliability? Awful. My experience was shocking because when I was a kid, Maytag was the ideal for quality and reliability. Those days are over. When delivered in 2013, the ovens did not work. Heating went to 200 degrees and stopped. During the next three years, we had this Maytag stove repaired four times. The most recent repair was in October 2016. A new regulator and igniter cost us $360. Four weeks later you guessed it the ovens stopped working yet again. We sent the Maytag stove to the recycle dump. Its far more valuable as scrap metal.

I unfortunately just had the same issue concerning my unit. The unit went berserk, stopped cooling and ruined all my food. I managed to get it outside after leaking spoiled food all over my floor. I washed it out and contacted Maytag after reading the hundreds of complaints. They sent someone out to fix the panel but he couldnt get it to cool. He said many times when a unit goes down that the acidity from produce along with moisture can eat through the aluminum components causing a freon leak. Obviously, this happened to me. I contacted Maytag and they said they would fix that too but once I called back, they said that it was a separate issue. Then I spoke with another person who said they would send a tech to inspect. I took off work and finally got a courtesy call from tech saying he was told not to come. I was amazed I missed work waiting and got no call from Maytag saying they changed their mind. I called back in and was told flat out I would not be covered, even though the fridge was fine before this happened. I suggest everyone read over the Consumer Protection Act which covers defective equipment causing issues by both injury and property damage. A class action lawsuit needs to be organized concerning this also. In the meantime, I implore each of you to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your state along with Michigan where Maytag is headquartered. This will guarantee a response from corporate. Also, make copies of this forum and send it to your State Attorney General explaining how you have been sold a defective item. They say ABC news once did a segment on this fridge issue also, so I suggest contacting them asking for a follow-up story. For those that use social media, go onto their Facebook and Twitter page to post a link to this site and the way you have been treated after spending over $2,000 and a fridge that has lasted 7 years or less. Its time for small voices to unite to form one that is much larger.

I have had a number of Maytag washing machines in my life and have never disliked a machine as much as the last one I purchased! The bleach dispenser is awful and any bleach that happens to land on the outer rim has ruined many clothes. I took them to my dealer to show him the ruined clothes and was told bleach does not evaporate do must be wiped off each time. With no soap dispenser I find I have to put the soap in first and keep trying to fill the machine some before I add the clothes. This takes forever but if dont do this my clothes are stained. I purchased this machine on April 11, 2017 and can not afford to go buy another washer at this time. The Dealer can not help me and when I called Maytag they were not interested! Buyer beware!

Bought this machine with the intention of having at LEAST 10 problem free years with it. Its a Maytag after all. Not an unreasonable expectation. Within the first 2 years, the machine sounded like the bearings were going out (heavy, grinding noises when it shifted gears). Repairman came, replaced the entire drum (only way to get to the gears, I guess). Didnt fix a thing. Then the rinse and spin cycle on ANY wash cycle randomly quits. Just stops. Full load of wet, soapy clothes, sitting in the tub while an LD error code quietly flashes. Its not uncommon for it to take two full days of screwing around with this machine to get one load of clothes done. Have to UNPLUG the machine, let it sit for about an hour, and try again. It is the biggest waste of money ever and I will NEVER buy another Maytag nothing. Contacted Maytag and they recommended I call a repairman...REALLY? REALLY? Gee, I wish I had thought of that. Repair guy has been to my house so damn many times for this machine, we are now friends on Facebook. Dont waste your money on this machine.

How can this be such a crappy product??? Over 800 dollars for a dishwasher to have to go out twice in less than 2 yrs is just wrong. The company needs to stand behind their products!!! I own a Maytag dishwasher - it is a few years old now. I first filed a complaint in 2011. We have had it repaired several times - the control panel keeps breaking. Why is it that my grandmothers old dishwasher worked for 30-40 years and now you are lucky if you can get an appliance that works for a year without breaking? This planned obsolescence is ridiculous. Do not buy Maytag products - hit them where it hurts - in the wallet. They used to build quality products, but not anymore. I contacted the law firm in California that another person had listed as they have started a class action lawsuit. Eppsteiner & Fiorica Attorneys, LLP, at 866-548-8857 - if you are having atrocious problems with your Maytag dishwasher (they mentioned Fridgidaire, too) - because of the control panel, please call. The company wont fix the issue unless they are forced to.

MVWC565FWO Maytag Top Load - Bought a new washing machine less than six months ago... extremely noisy: Clank, Clank, Clank, Clank, etc. Reviews said it was just noisy, nothing wrong with it. Last week it would not spin the clothes dry. Now when it is plugged in, it does nothing but run the pump! No lights, no water. This washer sucks so bad. Just got it a few hours ago and its absolutely horrible. The water just runs for the wash cycle. And I was told by the salesperson at Best Buy that it would save you water. Thats not the case. There is enough water to run over all the clothes. It doesnt agitate enough to even move the clothes around. The clothes basically sit at the bottom of the tub in the water doing nothing. This Maytag Bravo washer will be returned tomorrow. Me and my wife are highly disappointed. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone. Weve decided to just get the old washer fixed and go from there. There are too many bad reviews for this washer to still be on the market. We feel that this was a total waste of time, energy and money.

But amazingly they have created a new kit for the blower unit in this oven, model # Mew7527AW00. I purchased a new Maytag top loader at Home Depot. They delivered and set up. From the first load, I have had problems with the washer stopping and jerking. Clothing becomes a tangled mess. I contacted Maytag, they suggested I make sure I put on proper setting for the items within the washer. I do not know how one can fail at putting sheets in the washer and putting the setting on sheets and they are so twisted you have to spend time pulling them apart. This happens to almost everything I wash. I believe that I have a lemon, still under warranty, Maytag believes I should pay for a house call. Eighteen months after purchasing the Maytag Bravos, I had to have the motherboard replaced. Maytag offered nothing except a list of names for repairmen in my area. Now another 18 months later, the washer gets out of balance (this is a self-balancing machine, supposedly) at least three or four times for every load. Since it is all electronic, you cant select a spin cycle without the machine adding more water into the tub. Again, this does not self-correct the out of balance problem. Trying to balance the cloths several times during a wash cycle extends the length of time it takes to wash one load on average two hours. Maytag offers no customer service or customer support. Im sure their call center is not located in any part of the United States. I will never purchase another Maytag appliance.

I purchased this high-end dishwasher 7 years ago and 3 years of fairly light use, the control panel on the top would operate sporadically or not at all. Called the dealer who sent out the repairman that installed it and had to replace the control panel to the tune of $300 once the labor was included (took 2 visits as he had to order the part, so 2 trip charges). Now 3 & 1/2 years later, it is doing it again!! A call to Maytag and then a transfer to Whirlpool customer service got me nowhere. They said there were no recalls or documentation for problems with the dishwasher. Really??? I see lots of complaints on this problem with very similar Maytag dishwasher models. They would not send me a new part at no charge as a result but offered to set up a service appointment for me so I can spend another $300 (probably higher now after 3 years) and would register my complaint. Thanks for nothing!Doing that would turn my originally $900 dishwasher into a $1500 one with the result that it will probably fail again in 3 years. Absolutely ridiculous customer service. I saw a YouTube video on taking it apart and applying silicone around the ribbon connections as others have done in the hopes I can get it working again for a while as I dont have the $$$ needed to replace it again on a retired fixed income. :(

I bought a Maytag Top Loader. I soon discovered that it is not possible to do a cold water wash. After much communication with Maytag Customer Service it was determined that there is no way to bypass it. And it uses a lot of hot water, even on a cold wash. Their explanation was that the water needed to be a certain temperature to make the detergent work effectively. The same detergent that I’ve been using for 40 years with cold water in my Speed Queen. When I need to do a cold water wash, I go to my parents home and use their washer. Disappointing purchase, my last Maytag, for sure.
