My wife was in the kitchen and started yelling for me to get in there fast. I could smell smoke and then could see the smoke in the kitchen and sparks coming out of the front top right side of the dishwasher. I shut off the power to the dishwasher at the breaker panel. I then removed the contents and then the dishwasher itself. I threw it outside and then the next day I took apart the door and found that the control board was melted and fried. The model # is MDBH949PAM1. We are trying to locate the receipt for date of purchase. Pictures are attached. This is not safe and my wife is very upset as our 4 year old daughter had been leaning on the door not just 15 or so seconds before this happened.

My dishwasher was bought December 2013. The control panel just started going crazy and cant control anything. Unless you have bought extended warranty Maytag isnt doing anything. This is obviously a manufacture defect and no one is doing anything about it. Will no longer buy Maytag products if they cant stand behind their product.

I was having similar issues with my Maytag model MD dishwasher. The unit was operating, and then the start/resume light began flashing. Didnt think much about it since the machine continued to run. But the machine wouldnt cycle off, or rinse or dry. It continued to run, with the start/resume light flashing. When I opened the door and hit cancel, the unit turned off. Several minutes later, the normal light and heated dry lights came on, and soon after, the unit started up by itself (Twilight Zone music is going off in my head). I let it continue to see what it was going to do. It ran, and ran, and ran some more. I stopped it and secured the power to it, left the power off for a very long time. Started it up, no joy.I began reading the blogs sent in by other frustrated Maytag owners, we are numerous. I went back and re-read some of the posts that dealt with resetting the control panel. The one that mentioned; press Hi Temp. then Start/Resume about 3 times consecutively, that did the trick. Thank you for that useful piece of info. Saved me 143.00 plus tax and shipping for the new control panel (for now). I found some very helpful MOs (Maytag owners). I also found something very frustrating, with so many unhappy customers dealing with the similar issue. I would think that Maytag would put out a technical alert that deals with these problems. Instead, we get these so-called Maytag experts that magically appear on your computer screen. They ask you, what seems to be the problem. So after I described the issue, I asked the Pro, how to prove that the issue is with the control panel, or the elect. control board, both parts are 143.00 ea. (Just trying to limit my pain.) They send me to a page that wants to charge me 28.00 for the answer. What an insult. We pay 500-800 dollars for these units that should last more than 4 yrs. and some doofus is charging you for answers that saves you the consumer money and frustration. I, like many in the Maytag blog, will never purchase a Maytag product again.

I purchased Maytag dishwasher (model # MDBH979AWW3) in June of 2010. Trouble started on washer after 18 months. Touch pad buttons dont all seem to be working. Occasionally gets to run after slamming door multiple times, but dispenser doesnt function properly. After trying to diagnose myself with door switches, connectors, etc., I caved in and called service. Service quoted $470 parts and labor to fix the problems, including control touch panel, dispenser, and control board (seems common from what I read here). Wish I had seen this string of posts before I called Maytag/Whirlpool customer service to see if they would help before I did any repairs. The responses I got from the service rep were rigid and scripted. Only time she varied from the script was to explain that modern high-efficiency appliances dont tend to last as long as ones 20 years ago. 18 months? Really? I might buy that if it was a mechanical durability design issue. Supervisors responses were also scripted, pointing back to the 12-month warranty. She said she did a warranty search on my model and that there was no warranty concern for this problem (really?). If there was, she might be able to help me. I guess there is no warranty history because most failures are between 12-24 months and the consumer has to pay for replacement outside of warranty. No semblance of customer service or customer care, just repeating what is on their website. Response was: I am sorry you are dissatisfied with the product and my response, but there is nothing I am authorized do. Sent an email to Maytag customer service regarding the problem and customer service interaction. They called back saying they stand by the original customer reps response, but offered to have someone else come out to give a second opinion on the problem. From what I read here, that doesnt seem necessary. Wish Maytag/Whirlpool would at least acknowledge that there is a problem, even the auto industry seems to have figured out a way to equip the service industry with known recurring problem history (TSB) and offer token help to keep customer loyalty. Apparently another quality organization fallen victim to short-sighted methods of maintaining shareholder value.

We purchased this model from Home Depot in February 2011. In July 2011, I found it full of water and dirty dishes after running a wash cycle. It was completely dead like it wasnt getting any power. I checked the fuses, etc. - nothing was wrong that I could find with the power supply. I called for a service tech that day and they sent someone out to check it. It was the control panel. They shipped me a new control panel and the tech came back to replace it under warranty. It worked great until July 2013. Again, it is full of water and dirty dishes, wont turn on and has no lights on the front panel. I called Maytag to get a service tech. The warranty is expired of course. They offered to sell me a replacement dishwasher at a discount for $409, Model # MDB7749SBW. Or I can buy an additional 1 year of warranty for $269. I also could buy a control board for about $150 online. None of these options is attractive right now, but hopefully if I get the new model, it will not have any issues... I wish they would just tell me it was a crap unit instead of giving me the option to either get a new one or pay for a useless warranty. I am fed up with this dishwasher. 2 control boards in 2 1/2 years is unacceptable and indicative of a defective unit or design. After reading the reviews here it appears to be a defective design.

We bought this Maytag dishwasher two years ago with a two year warranty. We paid close to $700. Six months after we bought it, it started having problems on and off. They are including: leaking water, lights going on and off, cycles are not completed. We changed the console once, and soon after that it broke down again, and this time is out of warranty. Total repair times are: 6 times in two years. My husband call the company, asked them if there is a recall for this model? They told that there is no recall. Then the repair person came. According to his repair experience he said this is the common problem and he got a lot of calls for the same problem. If he told the truth about this, then the company was lying to its consumers!!

Maytag is quiet, barely hear it running which is rare for a dishwasher, dependable and plenty of space for dishes, pot and pans etc. I wouldnt have any other but Maytag. This is my THIRD dishwasher, and by far the best. The Bosch machine I had before that was a catastrophe: mediocre cleaning, intense filter cleaning required - at least every two days - and, with a pretended noise level of 47 dB, MUCH noisier than the 50 dB announced by Maytag. Somebody is laughing at someone! To sum up: the Maytag MDB4949SHZ cleans dishes incredibly well, is very silent and requires no filter cleaning.

We have had this dishwasher [Model MDB7749SBW2] for about 1 1/2 years now, and gave had a lot of trouble with it. It will run a cycle on its own without anyone even touching a button. My current problem is the start button wont work. I reset the dishwasher by pushing the series of buttons I found online to do a reset, and the start light lit up, but after the reset cycle was finished I tried to run a wash cycle and couldnt get the start button to do anything. Ive seen a lot of reviews online on this being common with Maytag brand dishwashers this old. I will NEVER buy a Maytag product again nor would I recommend it to anyone as a good product. I am very frustrated and disappointed in Maytag!!!

In 2011, I purchased 2 Maytag dishwashers, one for my tenant and one for myself. In 2014, the circuit board on my tenants dishwasher failed, when the unit was only 3 years old and of course out of warranty. I first contacted a local repair person, and he informed me that the repair plus service would be close to $300. When I contacted the company, after about an hour on the phone, they agreed to send their authorized repair service person and after his evaluation, would repair the unit with no charge to me, as a courtesy. This whole process took about 2-3 weeks. I felt that was fair. It is now 2015, and my unit, which I purchased at the same time and the same type, now is not working due to a faulty circuit board. My tenant uses her dishwasher more frequently, and that is most likely why her circuit board went first. This is a design flaw, or perhaps planned obsolescence. At any rate, Im not happy with this, and my model is mdb7809awb2, and serial # is FO4205659. Do you know if there have been any other complaints on this? Thank you for your help.Updated on 07/30/2015: After I wrote my review, I contacted Maytag about the problem. After considerable wait times, I spoke to someone who set up a diagnostic repair call, giving me the impression that Maytag would cover it. When the repair company called, they told me that I would be charged $104.95 just for diagnostics. Labor and parts would be additional. I called Maytag again, and they agreed to let the repair company charge back the diagnostic fee. After diagnosing the problem, it was determined the problem was the control panel and not the circuit board. The cost to repair with tax came to $315.85 and it was only this low because the repair company waived the return service trip. I can get a new dishwasher for a little over $400.00. I am very disappointed in Maytag, because I remember the commercials where the Maytag repair man was bored because the products were so dependable they never broke. My unit is only 4 years old, and its sad that it costs so much to repair it.

Mine is the same sad story as all the others. Bought our Maytag dishwasher in 2013 (model MDB7749) and 15 months later, the control panel went out. We have contacted Maytag and they basically told us it could be our fault it doesnt work, so they wont fix it. Now we have learned that this is an issue that A LOT of people are having. We called their special number for this problem and were told they still wouldnt fix it since we called BEFORE having it repaired. So my question is, how is this legal and why arent they recalling this product? I know that there was a class action lawsuit against Maytag for this problem. Why dont we hold them accountable as well? This is bad business and we shouldnt allow them to take advantage of hard working people like this.

Dishwasher model: MDBH949AWW3. Gradually over a months time lost its control functions and its status display. Ten days ago the last button to fail was the start button and the dishwasher stopped working. Maytag confirmed over the phone that there was no recall on this model. The part costs $190 and is out of stock till end of October 2013. I opened the dishwasher and took a closer look at the keypad. It has the cheapest touch buttons I ever seen. Maytag had provided at purchase time a user guide and a large sheet with a sketchy incomplete drawing (W10142800C) for service use only. I made my own schematics and I built my own keypad for less than $50. You may notice that the info I have on my attached schematics is missing from Maytag/Whirlpool incomplete drawing. My keypad is working fine and will outlast all the remaining parts in that dishwasher. I wish there is an angry lawyer out there with a bad dishwasher like mine that will use this info to sue Maytag. Please give the schematics to any user having troubles with this lousy touch pad.

We purchased a $500.00 Maytag dishwasher, Model #MDB7749SBW, in August 2013. In December 2014, a little over a year of owning it, the pump failed. We called Maytag and they had a service company come out and replace it. We paid $181.00 for this service call. In July 2015, the control panel failed so we called Maytag to see if they would replace it at their cost. All they are willing to do is to send another service guy out at our expense. The service call is $89.95 and that doesnt include the labor! The total with tax will be close to $200.00 again!!! Now we are getting close to spending $1,000 for this piece of junk! In addition, this dishwasher is only used three times a week because there are only two people living in our household. It is obvious after reading the other complaints that the control panels are defective and I am sure that Maytag is well aware of this issue. So, buyer beware. Dont even consider purchasing a Maytag dishwasher unless you enjoy watching your money flush down the toilet. They dont even deserve a 1 star rating!!!

I also purchased a Maytag dishwasher a few years ago. It has never worked that well. We had a repairman come out once to replace the control board but the problem soon returned. Interestingly, we found that if we wait long enough until the control panel is in the mood, the dishwasher works again and the control panel responds to button pushes, until the problem returns.I dont recall what model I purchased but it seems to be irrelevant. From reading the other customer complaints, its quite obvious that all Maytag dishwashers inherently have problems with their control panels and Maytag intends on doing nothing about it. I guess the extra repair costs that their customers have to pay for their defective products brings in some additional revenue to Maytag, so theres no real motivation for them to fix their ** products.

Upon remodeling our kitchen about 4 years ago, we decided to put in Maytag appliances, one of which was the dishwasher . On Nov.29th, our granddaughters were playing with our dog when they ran through the kitchen and the dog started to yelp and went down and started to bleed. As she went past the washer her leg was sliced open by the bottom of the washer door. As it turns out, the bottom of the Maytag dishwasher doors has a sharp cut edge with no covers at all along the entire bottom of the door. We have also read about two children who have had the same thing happen to them. This is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The first surgery as of now has been $3,600.00 because of cut tendons. It would be totally irresponsible not to warn all consumers of this extremely serious hazard considering most families let their small children play in the kitchen

We went to Home Depot and bought a Maytag front load dishwasher and dryer and microwave 3-1/2 years ago. The washer and dryer were put in right away. The dishwasher and microwave stayed in their box for another year due to us remodelling the house room by room and the kitchen wasn’t done for a year. We put the appliances in and the dishwasher panel went out in October 2011. The washer in April 2012 started having a failure 8 when it gets to the last spin and rinse in which takes a lot of shuffling clothes to get it to finish its cycle. Then last night, May 14th, 2012, the microwave caught fire and all I was doing was brew tea in a glass Pyrex measuring cup not to mention the fan didnt work from day one. The whole house was full of smoke and it melted the plastic. So the most I got out of 3 of these products is 3 years at the most. This is very sad that we spent this much money and it lasted less than 5 years. I am writing this to warn consumers not to buy Maytag appliances. They should last longer than 3 years and are not cheap to buy. This makes me very angry and I hope someone takes this seriously and work on the problems before someone burns up due to these appliances catching fire. Our dishwasher had a recall shortly after we installed it due to the element catching fire and we had your repair man replace it.

We were very impressed with this dishwasher when we bought it about 2 years ago. It looked very nice, it was the quietest running dishwasher weve seen, dishes came out sparkling. However, the nightmare quickly began. It started with having to cancel then resume. It ran for 8 hours non-stop (still cycling the next morning). We unplugged it and we were able to use it normally for a few times. Weve had so much aggravation with this machine weve decided to (A) Never to buy another digital dishwasher, (B) Join the class action suit proposed against Maytag. We have tried all the reset solutions offered and Weve been hand washing dishes (again) for days.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher (model #MDBH979AWS3) from Home Depot on July 2010 and had it installed. After 2 weeks, I found water leaking into the basement. The installer said rubber gasket in water line de-laminated and caused leak under the dishwasher and flooded the floor to basement. Product defect and water damage covered by Maytag insurance. Now Feb 2012, about 1 1/2 years after buying, the touch panel controls dont work. I called Maytag regarding any control panel recall and they said no and its out of warranty. The advice given was that they can send out a serviceman for $269 to fix with parts, labor and one year warranty. It seems like planned obsolescence. Dont buy a Maytag.

Approximately a few months later it went bad again. I complained to Home Depot and they replaced the dishwasher. Too bad they would not change the brand. Guess what? Control panel on front of dishwasher quit. Unit is 15 months old. Bought extended warranty through Home Depot. Took two hours on the phone to finally get to the correct department, they set an appt. for the following Wednesday between 10-2. Had to take a vacation day. Get a call from the appliance repair co. the night before stating they cant live by Depots schedule, they wont be out til the following Monday between 9-1. Schedule a vacation day. They come out then have to order parts, they wont be in for 7-10 business days. After 12 business days, I call back and they set appt. between 10-2. Schedule vacation day. They come out and the control panel the warranty company sent is the wrong one. Now I have to start the whole process over again. DONT BUY MAYTAG AND DONT BUY WARRANTY OR APPLIANCE THROUGH HOME DEPOT.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher delivered in dec 2012. We are snowbird Canadians and the dishwasher is only used 5 months per year. Jan 2015 the control panel quit working and the repairman tells me the wires on the control panel have started to melt down. He called Maytag and was told they had extended the warranty on this machine for one more year. Missed it by 2 months. Considering this was only really used one year, I am very disappointed. How can an extended warranty on a safety issue only be for one year? This is my first Maytag product and will be my last. I only purchased it because I was told Whirlpool bought them out and I have never had a problem with Whirlpool.

We purchased a Model MDB8949SAWO Maytag dishwasher in September 2012. The control panel failed in November 2015. We wrote a letter to Maytag (Whirlpool) expressing our disappointment and received a call from Maytag customer service. The Customer Service representative informed us because we contacted our local repair facility directly, no reimbursements would be provided. During a subsequent follow-up call, I was informed by the Customer Service representative that Maytag manufactures quality products and that no premature failures were occurring with Maytag dishwashers. The Customer Service Representative stated that we should have purchased an extended warranty which lends some support to the fact that Maytag dishwashers are essentially junk. Never again will we purchase any Whirlpool products.

I have a basic Maytag dishwasher circa 2012. Not sure of the model number. It works well, no fancy features but everything you really need is there. My only real complaint is that the heat dry cycle always seems to leave the dishes a little wet, but thats common enough for dishwashers. It cleans nicely and hasnt had any issues or breaks in 3+ years. Basic. Three wash cycles (light, normal, heavy); Extra rinse option, extra hot option, and heat dry or eco-dry (i.e. no dry). Nice big rinse aid dispenser. Its not that roomy inside. Id say the size is average. It looks nice - its white and unobtrusive. It works really well with Cascade dish pods. The bottom rack is kind of a pain if your plates are curved more than usual.

Purchased a Maytag dishwasher from Best Buy. We did not buy the extended warranty from BB because there is a warranty with Maytag. After 4 months of use the washer stopped working. We were unable to return it to Best Buy because we exceeded the 2 week return policy and needed to rely on Maytags 1 year warranty. It took over 2 weeks to schedule a repair and he was unable to fix it, it needed an entirely new Control Board and UI panel. 3 weeks later he returned with the new parts. It worked for 10 days with the NEW Board and panel, it has now stopped working again. We are not able to replace it due to the California Lemon Law which allows a company 3 opportunities to fix it before replacing. Next time I will purchase the Best Buy warranty so I can replace this Maytag LEMON.

Dishwasher Model #MDB7609AWW2 - I have replaced the touchpad once a year for 4 years. Went online and learned a DIY repair using a Permatex Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit to fill in the touchpad broken circuits. I have repaired it once a year for 2 years. My suggestion is to avoid purchasing this product. Apparently even after multiple consumers have contacted Maytag regarding this widespread defect, Maytag has not issued a recall or assisted anyone. They say if the part can be replaced there is no issue. When the dishwasher works, it is great, however it WILL NOT last. Touchpad will fail and you will be out $124 for the part plus labor unless you do the repair yourself.

The dishwasher is only one and a half years old and like many others are having trouble with the control panel. The model is MDB89495AWO which cost nearly $800. On reading the comments/experience of other Maytag owners I am undecided whether to scrap this unit and buy another make!

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher & installed Aug 15 2012. After installation the control panel wasnt working & Lowes replaced the dishwasher with the same model. After the years warranty was up I started having trouble with the second dishwasher panel. I limped along with it for months until I could not get it to work at all. A repairman came and said that the touchpad & board was damaged. He said it wasnt hooked up properly. After an estimate of over three hundred dollars we decided to rid ourselves of it and purchased another, cheaper brand. Was out 79 dollars for the repair estimate & over 500.00 for the Maytag dishwasher. Plus a new one installed for 700.00. Had the use of this appliance less than two years.

This dishwasher is reliable and has NEVER had any repairs. It cleans fairly well, but I do wash off dishes before I put them in. The one complaint I have is sometimes the dishes smell funny after washing. I think it may be our water though. I also like that there is room for oversize dishes and glasses on some of the racks. Overall, I would buy it again.

Had to wait a few hours then hit it again and all the lights would light up and then it would start washing. Then when done, some lights stayed on and never went off. Then a month or 2 later, same problem but only a couple of lights would go on and when done 2 lights would blink continuously. After several months now, none of the lights are working and cant get dishwasher to start. Called a tech and he said the control board and the touchpad were not working. Would cost me over $400 plus shipping, etc. to for new. Very frustrated with Maytag, as we havent even gotten 2 years out of this dishwasher and the 1 year warranty has expired. DONT BUY A MAYTAG!!!

As of March 2016, three service calls, two of which required replacement of the control panel. Now the control panel has failed a third time and we are told by Whirlpool (parent company of Maytag dishwashers) they will not cover the repair. They have offered a discount for a new dishwasher. Since that did not seem like a very good option to me, they offered to let me pay for current service plus a year for over $350.00. I was sad to discover that they are the manufacturer of most dishwashers available at your local home store dealer (Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Roper, Amana). Problems with Maytag dishwasher, purchased at Sears Canada Model MDB7749S i
Problems with Maytag dishwasher, purchased at Sears Canada Model MDB7749S is only a couple of years old, and as such is no longer under warranty. This Dishwasher is less than 3 years old! Both the interior and exterior is stainless steel and looks virtually new. Cost of parts and labour to repair amount to more than a new dishwasher--this is unacceptable. Poor design. Little value compared to cost. First issue: bottom rack wheels fall off because the plastic pin holding the plastic wheels on the rack become fall out, leaving no way to hold the wheels onto the rack. Second issue: faulty design of the integrated door handle and control panel on the exterior door face. The control panel pops out of the front cover panel when door is pulled open. With some struggle it can be popped back in.I agree with another reviewer who wrote: The design of the faceplate is defective in that too much force is applied to the faceplate when opening the unit. The handle is integrated in to the faceplate. The plastic used becomes brittle over time and breaks. The panel unit (W10811169) must be replaced in entirety rather than just its housing increasing the cost of repair. To have this failure occur within the first 3 years of use is very premature. I can only assume if I repair the dishwasher I will have the same problem again. I am considering buying a new model that is designed better and comes with a longer warranty on such parts.

In the winter of 2007, we remodeled our kitchen and bought all new Maytag appliances. They cost a little more but we felt that we were getting a good quality product. Within months, the handle on the freezer became loose and I had to call for a repairman to tighten it. He told me we should buy the extended warranty because only a trained repairman could fix the handle. That turned out to be untrue thankfully because if it was true, I would have to call for repair at least once a month. The handle is constantly coming loose. A few months later, the microwave would turn on when the door was closed. I called repair as it was still under warranty. After he removed and replaced the door, I was told that we have to be careful when we close the microwave. There was nothing he could do to stop the problem. Approximately three years after we purchased the appliances, we had a problem with the dishwasher. We could only use one function; the others would not work. We were told by the technician that we got water into the door where the controls are and ruined the motherboard. I never heard anything so absurd. I have had a dishwasher in the same place for 25 years with no mishap. The cost of repair was $800. A few months later, we had a problem with the large burner on our cooktop. The outer coils heat up but the inner coils do not. I have yet to call for repair because I do not trust Maytag. Now, our microwave does not work. My husband used it to make popcorn with no problem. A little while later, I tried to heat a cup of coffee and it would not heat. The keypad works, the light comes on in the microwave but the motor does not run. Needless to say, we are very unhappy and will never buy another Maytag appliance. I wish I would have read the reviews before we purchased the appliances. Two of our friends had their kitchens remodeled at the same time we did and they have not had any problems with their appliances. But they didnt buy Maytag. I guess thats why.

Maytag Bravos XL Washer and Dryer. How exciting to get a new washer/dryer!!
Maytag Bravos XL Washer and Dryer. How exciting to get a new washer/dryer!! Im a savvy bargain and quality shopper, but I really messed up here. A little over a year ago, we moved from IL back to TX and I got to buy a new washer AND dryer at the same time (a rarity). I went and looked at SO many washers/dryers and decided on the Maytag Bravos XL because a friend said she loved hers. It had a deep water wash and bedding cycle (for our blankets, comforters, sleeping bags, etc), and I thought that I could throw that wayward sock in after I started the load (unlike our previous front load washer).Where do I begin with the complaints? (And Im NOT a complainer - never filled out a review in my life). This is what I sent to Maytag: 1) Im 55 tall and can barely reach the items at the bottom of the drum, along with the lid falling on my head when Im trying to do so. 2) Forget throwing in the wayward sock - it must finish the cycle its in before it will let you unlock the lid (Where did locked lids come from anyway? Is that how those missing socks are disappearing - escaping out of unlocked lids? What are we trying to keep in or who are we trying to keep out of the machine? Doors you lock - not washing machines! I dont get it!).3) Even the deep water/bedding wash cycle does not do the job. Using the exact recommended measurement of HE liquid soap does not get the items clean. What a chore to take something out and have white detergent lines all over it and have to wipe it down with a wet cloth. Sure, I could then do a rinse and spin cycle, but since it doesnt add enough water, it doesnt come out much better. The machine senses by weight how much water to use. I am positive that every energy efficient machine is now programmed to add exactly 4 cups of water per load (regardless if its a comforter or one pair of jeans).4) Supposedly, we are saving so much water usage, but energy efficient is a misnomer - it takes me twice as long to do laundry now. The time factors are ridiculous. There are no quick cycles on this machine. If I have a load of delicate tops that just need a quick wash and rinse before I hang them out (I was not out baling hay in them, so its not like they are filthy dirty. In Texas, its the sweat that you are trying to eliminate), the least amount of time I can find on a cycle is 45 minutes. I might as well hand wash them all and be done in 5 minutes. But, that was the point of the washing machine - to do the work for me! And forget the deep water wash cycle of 58 minutes, plus the added rinse and spin cycle (to try and remove the white soap line). Its now taken one and one-half hours to try and clean/refresh a barely soiled comforter.5) The spin cycle is SO efficient, that I have items come out totally dry many times in certain spots. Im washing a comforter right now and I can guarantee you that when I remove it from the washer, there will be an entire section that looks like it never even got wet. Im no engineer, but after watching through the see-through lid, the agitation is not working well enough to get to every section.6) I havent seen a soap bubble or suds yet. You are told to use such a small amount of detergent, Im not sure how anything actually gets clean. The clothes are sprinkled with water, agitated a small amount, spun until they are almost dry and voila - the same dirty clothes come out! 7) The dryer has now ruined 2 of my bras as the hooks get caught in the mesh panel at the back. It literally melted part of the bra! I tried hooking them together before I threw them in there, but now have to put them in a lingerie bag to keep them from being mauled and mutilated. I have NEVER in 37 years of marriage and washing had that happen before.8) I literally could not get my dryer to turn on and a repairman had to come out to the house to show me the amount of pressure I had to use in one finger to start the dryer. I had almost taken a hammer to it before he arrived. Can you imagine pressing the start button on anything - the dishwasher, a hair dryer, a TV remote control, and it not turning on? And all because you pressed too hard or too light? This computer age and electronic panels are killing me! 9) The dryer has the same locking system as the washing machine. So, if you didnt see the wayward sock on the floor or between the two units until after you pushed (lightly, of course) the start button, you have to stop the unit before you can open the door to throw the sock in.I didnt mean to write a novel (about a washer and dryer, no less)! But, I feel better and hope that I have saved one woman from making the same mistake I did. Read those reviews AND believe them. And by the way, my friend who recommended the Bravos XL to me looked at mine and said Thats NOT my washer and dryer. Evidently, mine was the new and improved version! So much for that claim!

We upgraded and purchased a new Maytag Dishwasher Quiet Series 300 MDBH955A
We upgraded and purchased a new Maytag Dishwasher Quiet Series 300 MDBH955AWQ to benefit our new kitchen remodel. Initially, the dishwasher worked great. I routinely insist on keeping the filters and interior clean as I was raised up believing that if you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you. Very shortly after purchase, there was a fire recall which was taken care of by Maytag and a third party contractor. Then as time went on, it continuously rendered out dishes with debris and food on them. Then it stopped working. It turned out the latch or door handle broke on the pivot point on the interior of the door. I got that replaced and everything was good again. Then about three months later, of course after warranty, it would not start or anything. I verified power and connections and nothing. I spent about $60 on JustAnswer for further advice and the answer was to replace the control board. After about $250 for a service call and $130 additional, it turned out the control board went out. I observed how it appeared to be a poor design due to the control board being exposed to all of the humidity and other moisture from within the dishwasher door. Then after that being fixed, about six months later, the door latch broke again. Its minor enough that you may not realize its broken until you open the door panel back up again. The plastic is breaking Im sure due to the heat and moisture, but its just minor enough that it will not make contact to indicate the door is closed. I got that replaced again for another $140. Four months of that getting fixed and Im getting the same result, no functionality at all from the control panel. In other words, the control board is out again!Ive spent almost as much in repairs that I have for the dishwasher in the first place. As many have stated before, why are we not getting quality products anymore? I went to the Maytag website to see if there were any other additional recalls for this dishwasher, and the recall site was down, so I called. The lady on the phone, as pleasant as she was, indicated that the recall for the heater coil was already performed, which I already knew. I asked, due to the other problems Ive had and money Ive spent, if there were any additional recalls, and of course the reply was no. Im used to staying with a reputable company and providing loyalty to that company for quality products and service, even if I have to spend more initially in order to spend less overall. Obviously, Maytag is now out of the question for future business or referrals. This dishwasher is getting replaced before I put one more dime into it.

On 8/26/16, we purchased a top-of-the-line Maytag dishwasher from Lowes of Palm Bay, Fl. It began leaking water out one side shortly after installation. Because of a hospitalization, we were not able to report the problem to Lowes until the first part of December. A repairman from Brandts in Sebastian, Fl. came out on 12/6/16 and said it might be the door gasket, but he did not have a new one with him and if it continued, to call back. I called again and another repairman from Brandts came out on 1/3/17. He said it was out of square and he took out 2 screws and said to cut back on detergent because too many suds could cause it to leak (which we find ludicrous). Now it leaks on both sides. This is not a small leak; it soaks the bath towel we put under the door. On 1/11/17 Brandts sent 2 repairmen out and they claimed we needed to cut way back on detergent and put in a capful of salad oil because our water softener is causing the suds which causes the leak. We now use 1/2 teaspoon of detergent and the capful of salad oil. It is still leaking. Our previous Kitchen Aid dishwasher never leaked and we used the recommended amount of detergent in it. We are apparently stuck with a brand-new dishwasher that cannot be fixed. We will NEVER buy another Maytag appliance.

I purchased the Maytag dishwasher a little over two years ago (MDB6759AWQ0). This was the first Maytag product I bought and it is definitely the last one! It was more expensive, but because of Maytags commercials on what good products they had, I thought it would last longer and work better. Boy, was I wrong. When it was installed, it was loud. I brought this to the attention of Maytag. I was told there was nothing that they could do. Repair people were sent to my home several times to see if the noise could be fixed and unfortunately, it could not. This is the loudest dishwasher that I have ever had. I should have stayed with the same brand that was over 10 years old that died! Now the control panel blew out and will cost over $300 to have it fixed. After reviewing the numerous complaints that you have on your dishwasher with the control panels not working, I would think Maytag would be more financially responsible in helping the people that have your products that no longer work after being less than three years old. Just a heads up, Maytag, I will be replacing instead of fixing and not with another Maytag product!

I have always hated soft touch control panels so I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher with old style push buttons. IT DID NOT CLEAN THE DISHES, so Lowes took it back and I was convinced to UPGRADE to an MDB7749SBB0 and was told this machine was top of the line, although it was VERY temperamental from the start. I guess I should have done my homework. I see now several complaints about the control panels not working. I was told that MAYTAG was a very reputable company and that they stand behind their product. WRONG!. The company KNOWS these panels have problems and should replace them free of charge as it is obviously a defect. Nope, first they offer to send someone out (In a week) to repair it at $80 just to look at it and the panel is over $100 to replace, and when I complained they tried to sell me extra coverage for $250. REALLY? What is the purpose of purchasing a QUALITY dishwasher? I might as well purchase a cheap dishwasher and replace it when it breaks. I think you should be responsible for your product when you have several complaints on a specific part.

We purchased this set 6 months ago. The store we purchased it from is unwilling to help us. Maytag insists there is nothing wrong with the washing machine. The machine doesnt clean the clothes. After a wash cycle there is pet fur and lint all over the clothes, even after it comes out of the dryer. The clothes are all twisted in tight knots when the load is done. The washing Machine doesnt dispense enough water to wash. I have taken clothes out of the washer and the items are dry in spots, most times you can smell the mustiness of a dish towel after its been washed.I used the steam clean dryer to fresh in up the curtains and the panels came out different lengths. Not eager to try that feature again. This is our 2nd dryer set purchase, the last set was 10 yrs old. I couldnt find anyone willing to repair it. I was told they dont make machines like they used to and they are all designed to last 10 yrs and you’re lucky if it lasts 15 yrs. Yes, we contacted Maytag and yes, like the many other folks who have shared their stories we also got the run around. Sad to say we are going to do our research and will be looking for a new machine. We updated our 25 years old dishwasher, which ironically still worked, to a Maytag we bought at a BrandsMart in GA in November 2010. Sixteen months later, the unit just died. The panel would light up, but would not run. We contacted Maytag and were assigned a repairman (The Appliance Guy) who could not come to fix the dishwasher until 5 days later. Once he finally showed up, I was informed by him that the control panel for the dishwasher had two shorts in it and it would be cheaper for me to just buy a new dishwasher because the repair to this one would be $344.44. When I contacted the customer service for Maytag, they offered to let me pay for the repairs and then they would give me a six month service warranty for free. Does that make sense to anyone? I could buy a totally different brand, brand-spanking-new and have a twelve month warranty with a better product. I asked to speak with Cheris boss and got to speak with Aaron, who offered me the same spiel. Heavily scripted, I apologize that you are dissatisfied, but all we can do is give you the service warranty for six months after you pay for the repair. I asked him if he was reading a script and he replied no. Now I know that he had probably repeated these same words twenty times a day. Heres a thought, Maytag claims to be a green company, using less electricity and water, and saving the customers money and yet they are filling up all the landfills with these appliances that are not even five years old. How is that being a green company? You know how when you buy a nice new button-up shirt? The makers of that good quality shirt go ahead and sew an extra button on the inside bottom part of the shirt because they know that theres a chance youll lose a button. Well, Im thinking that Maytag should just start shipping a couple extra control panels in every box of Maytag dishwashers. Crazy idea, right? Okay, so an easier and cheaper way for Maytag to correct the problem is to stop making dishwashers. Go back to the drawing board, make the engineer who designed the control panel wash everyones dishes (as punishment and he can get help from the customer service people because theyre really doing nothing), start building the old design dishwasher that has the old switch and dial, and start respecting their customers. There, problems solved!

My dishwasher like many others have mentioned is experiencing the same control panel issues. When I set it to Wash, it spontaneously goes to Rinse Only. I am unsure exactly the age, but given the number of complaints Ive read, with the same problem, it seems as though, there was a flaw many years ago in design and regardless of issues hasnt been resolved with the newer models either. I realize appliances dont last forever, but Maytag was always known for the lonely repairmen and Id hoped the brand would continue to live up to its advertising, despite being purchased by Whirlpool.

I wrote earlier about my dishwasher needing to have an electronic board replaced again. So I called the helpful (I say that with sarcasm in my voice) 800 number. My dealer asked me to call for help with paying for the new part. After an hour and a half of being cut off and put on hold, I finally got through to a person that could take my request. The gentleman explained to me about why they would not stand behind their product which was only 3 1/2 years old, and a replacement part that lasted only 11 months. He expanded on his thought about how it was too old to fix and the part was more than 90 days old. I am out of my $1,100.00 with no help in sight. Totally upset with this company and how they will not stand behind a poorly made product!!!!

It is quiet and cleans well but thats where it ends. We have had it a little over a year now, after just a few months it started leaking, fixed under warranty. Now one of the upper rack tracks is broken, it was held together with three very flimsy welds, hopefully will be getting it fixed soon. We are going to wait and see what other kind of repair it will need, I think we would have been better off to just buy a cheap dishwasher!

Brand New 2017 Maytag Dishwasher MOB8959SFZ4 - The first time we used it it leaked from the door. I called the plumber back to make sure it was level and lined up properly and it was. Called the dealer, they sent a technician who sent away for a new latching mechanism. 3 weeks later the parts showed up. Technician installed them ran it through empty and no leaks problem solved? Nope. So I loaded it up and ran it again and it leaked. Called the dealer back but the technician is away on vacation. They suggested that the top rack might be pushing against the door for some reason when it is loaded so I removed everything from the dishwasher and ran it through again but it leaked again. Its something to do with the door not latching properly and it doesnt have a lever that locks like the old ones did. Its such a flimsy product. It baffles me that importers are getting away with bringing this crap into the country. Im now in week 5 with a brand new dishwasher that doesnt work. Maybe thats why its known for being one of the quietest dishwashers on the market.

I had a Maytag dishwasher that I purchased around 2005. I had no issues with it at all. Then, I got a notice that it was being recalled due to a fire hazard. My options were to either get a repairman to come out and fix it, or get a credit towards a purchase of a new dishwasher. I chose the second option. Even after getting a credit, the purchase cost was way more than my original dishwasher. I purchased the new dishwasher in June of 2010. Last spring (May 2012), I noticed a gap in my hardwood floors around the sink. A flooring rep looked around and said he would bet that theres a leak either at the sink or the dishwasher. I took off the front kick-plate to the dishwasher and discovered a wet spot. I monitored that area and discovered the leak coming from under the dishwasher (around the float switch). It wouldnt leak all the time, but every now and then, it would leak half to a full cup of water. I had the hardwood floor fixed (cost $350). At the same time, I schedule a service repair through Maytag. They sent a rep from a local repair company (Convenient Appliance Service, Inc.). The service rep couldnt identify the cause of the leak but said it was more than likely the seal around the door. So, I paid another $160 to get the repair done. I monitored the leak for a week and had no problems, so I put the kick-plate back on. In September 2012, I noticed a wet spot in front of the dishwasher. I took off the kick-plate and discovered that the dishwasher was leaking again. This time the leak was worse. It would leak 1 to 2 cups of water during a wash cycle. I called the repair company and they came out free of charge to take a look at it. The service rep said the float switch had gunk build up in it. He cleaned it out and said that should fix the problem. I monitored the area for 2 weeks and everything seemed to be fine. Last week (March 2013), I noticed some gaps in the hardwood flooring around the sink and dishwasher. I pulled off the kick-plate and discovered a wet spot. I ran the dishwasher and discovered that it leaked a ton of water (over 4 cups). I contacted the repair company that came out last time, and they said they would have to charge me $100 plus to come out and take a look at the problem. The rep recommended contacting Maytag. I contacted Maytag and they said I would either have to pay $129 for a service call (not including cost for parts), or $269 to get covered under their Repair Plus 1 program (everythings covered and it adds 1 year of warranty my dishwasher). I asked at what point Maytag would replace a dishwasher. The rep said when it is deemed unfixable. Other than that, they just keep coming out if I have issues. Part of me thought I need to cut my losses and just rip out the dishwasher and get a new one (cost somewhere around $700). But I went with the Repair Plus 1 program in hopes that they can resolve the issue. But Im definitely going to have to get the hardwoods ripped out again. It looks worse than before. It’s probably going to run another $500.

Last year we replaced a Maytag dishwasher which had a faulty control panel after just a few years of light use (There are just the two of us). It was going to cost almost as much to repair it as to buy a new dishwasher, so we opted for an $800 model (MDB8959AWW6) with a control panel across the top of the door. There had been a recall on that first Maytag for the heating element or something, so we decided to put the credit towards a machine that would last us for years, we hoped! We have been in this house for 18 years and the original cheap builder-installed dishwasher lasted for 12 years. In fact, there was nothing wrong with it when we replaced it with the last one. Whatever happened to the lonely Maytag repair man? We did not buy an extended warranty, but I can see now that probably these things are only meant to last the lifetime of the warranty. We are semi-retired and cannot afford to have the dishwasher repaired, so it will be a decoration in the kitchen from on. Never ever will I recommend Maytag to anyone! One bad experience should have been enough, and we probably would not have bought a Maytag again had it not been for the credit we got for the product recall on the last one!

In fact, I wish I could return it and start over with another brand. My glasses come out of the cycle with film and silverware is spotted. I have tried everything from scrubbing and rinsing before I put into the dishwasher, every product on the market, making sure my hot water heater is on high to settings for the longest most powerful cycle and it still continues to disappoint. My warning is DO NOT buy this dishwasher.

Our Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 is anything but quiet. Within two years of purchasing it, we now hear an F18 jet fighter taking off from our laundry room. Neighbors near and far come running to avoid getting injured when the spin cycle kicks into after burner. Seriously though, this looked to be a nice machine and operated flawlessly until a month ago when the spin cycle started sounding like a jet fighter taking off. I am handy and often fix appliances and things around the house. From reading reviews here on Consumer Affairs and other places, I am finding that the noise problems are more common than not. Investing $400+ into a replacement tub/bearing set would further support Whirlpool/Maytag and the sucking sound they make to get at my wallet. From what I have read, I am likely to have more problems after fixing this one (it will likely break again). I am going to quit while I am ahead and purchase a new washer. Whirlpool/Maytag will never see my business again. Its ludicrous to have an expensive appliance like a washer only last two years. BTW, I just spent $200 to replace the control panel on my 4-year old Maytag dishwasher. A cheap and horrible design. The part probably cost $10 to make. BOHICA. (bend over, here it comes again). FYI: Whirlpool owns and sells its products under several other appliance names. Names that include, Kenmore (yes, Sears), Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Gladiator GarageWorks, Inglis, Estate, Brastemp, Bauknecht and Consul (Wikipedia source). Like a Lotto Scratcher, peel the Whirlpool or Maytag name sticker off and underneath you will find the real name... CRAP! Its sad to think that you have to purchase products made in Korea to get quality. Very sad.

We purchased all Maytag home appliances when our home was remodeled about five years ago. After the first year, the microwave had to be replaced because it malfunctioned. The dishwasher stopped working in the third year, and now, my refrigerator (model# mf12568AEB) wont cool. The technician told me that all of the Freon had leaked out because of a design flaw. Moisture had gotten into the compressor, and with the cost of repair or replacing the compressor, I would probably be better off buying a new refrigerator, preferably not a Maytag.

We bought our Maytag dishwasher at Sears about 2 years ago. It has never cleaned very well, we have to rinse everything almost to the point of spotless before we load it. Its a water saver, which means it takes more than 4 hours to fully cycle. Just today, I went to turn it on and the start button does not work. I looked it up and found that this is a common problem with new Maytag washers. This is really irritating, considering we paid a lot more for the Maytag brand than we would have paid for something without the Maytag reputation. Live and learn, I guess; we certainly will not be buying another Maytag.

Purchased Maytag Jetclean Dishwasher Model # MDB7749SBM3 on March 19, 2014 and on June 10, 2017 the washer would not go through the cycles properly. So I got on the internet to check out the problem. Maytag has very flimsy wiring circuit on the back of the control panel that rusts out due to being close to high-temperature water. Obviously a design flaw. The only way to fix it is to replace the control panel for $150 dollars with another flawed part. Do not buy Maytag dishwasher.

From June 2010 through November 2011, the dishwasher has stopped working 3 times, every 6 months, requiring a service call to fix the electrical /circuit board problems. There was a maytag dishwasher in the house we bought 11 yrs ago. The only problem we have had is a recall on the rinse aid dispenser which was replaced by a service man but never worked again. We are completely satisfied with the operation of the unit, our only disappointment is the wire racks. The original racks plastic coating broke at the end nubs and became rusty and swollen. We found someone selling a unit and we just took the racks and left the unit for him to resell rackless. Unfortunately not two yrs later the same thing has happened to those racks. Even tried these little plastic covers that are made specifically for this problem. They were virtually impossible to get on and didn’t last more than a few months.

Now, 17 months after the control panel was replaced, it has again crapped out with the same problem. I see by all the complaints here that this is a common problem. I wish I had read all these complaints before I had the control panel replaced the first time. Maytag, shame on you! Never again! I called Maytag and Sears, and as you would expect, they said, Sorry, its past the warranty period. When I buy my next dishwasher, it will not be a Maytag and it will not be from Sears.

I purchased the Maytag MDB8959SBS dishwasher back in 2014. I have historically been a Bosch guy when it comes to dishwashers but I have been so happy with my Maytag Maxima washer and dryer, I wanted to give their dishwasher a chance. Well, it has been a major disappointment, to say the least. For starters, it just doesnt clean that well. I am very careful in how I load a dishwasher. I do not put baking sheets across the bottom rack lol. Consistently we find dirty dishes. Then after about a 6 months, I noticed the paint on the adjacent cabinets were peeling in spots (near the top and bottom corners). I started feeling around the outside of the door during the wash cycle and there was a fair amount of moisture collecting around the outside of the dishwasher seal (or non-seal). Fast forward to about a month ago, I noticed a burning smell in the kitchen while it was running. Did the typical check the heating element routine thinking something fell down and was burning. However, it was perfectly clean. Emptied it completely and ran a totally empty load. The smell was still there. I eventually figured out the smell was emanating from the upper right corner of the door. Coincidentally this was right above the location of the control board. I grabbed a tool and carefully removed the front panel and discovered wires were melted (some fused together) and even the inside of the panel (which is plastic) was melted in spots as well.So yes, I could have contacted Maytag and sent pictures and fought with them over a repair but to be honest, I have no interest in keeping this appliance. It has been trouble since day one. Again, to be fair, I have had good luck with their other appliances but this was an awful experience and a total waste of money. I have since gone back to Bosch and could not be happier.

It just started doing its own thing Like not running the wash cycle or a different cycle than we pushed. We called for a repair and were told by the repair man that the control panel was on the fritz. He ordered a new one and told us it would be a month before he could come back and install it. When the control panel showed up at our house, we installed it ourselves because we did not want to have a faulty dishwasher running in the house.Just yesterday we noticed a huge rusty area on the bottom rack. We called and were hold for 20 minutes if not more, before we were even able to talk to a rep. She then came up with every excuse as to why our rack was rusty (hard water, water changing??). We asked for a new rack but she wanted to send a repair kit. We were on the phone with her for half an hour, if not more, and she just refused to send a new rack. When we finally asked to speak to the manager we were told the wait time was 32 minutes and hung up! Do not buy crappy Maytag appliances with even crappier customer service reps! It wont turn on, not a single light. It is fried. When Googling the issue I found that we are 1 of MANY with faulty control panels not only on our particular model but on many Maytag dishwashers. They all seem to have the same problem, right around to 2-3 year old mark. One would think dishwashers would last, like before. A dishwasher shouldnt need to be replaced or need a major repair so soon. The one our new dishwasher replaced was 12 years old and was working just fine. We just wanted to upgrade to stainless steel. Purchased this Maytag dishwasher (Model DB7749SBM2) from a Sears 2014, no problems until now in late June 2014. The control panel is not responding. Start/Resume light is off, pressing it doesnt seem to do anything. Cancel light is off, pressing it does trigger the cancel drain process. Wash Cycle choices either dont respond, or for 2 of the choices engage an incorrect cycle. Option choices dont respond. Delay light comes on when an incorrect cycle choice displays but stays at 2 hours, cannot be toggled off or to a different delay length. Holding Control Lock or Delay for 3 seconds doesnt seem to clear the circuit board logic. Problem began with the Cycle choice buttons defaulting to Rinse Only. Control panel behaves not at all or incorrectly as described above. Seems to be a common Maytag control board/panel problem. We need help as we are unable to afford repair or another dishwasher. This time, it will not run at all. I called customer service today (August 11, 2015) and they expect me to pay for the repair. Repairman already said electronic board bad at a cost of around $300 just for the parts. It is easy to Google and find multiple review sites that indicate hundreds of consumers have similar problems, but Maytag will not acknowledge any issue. Based on the pattern the warranty is not going to help as it goes out just after a year. For only having it 1 1/2 years it is becoming very expensive. There should be a recall on this control panel.

On February 2006, I purchased a Maytag Quiet Series 300 Dishwasher and on July 2007, a motor leak. Maytag fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty. Thereafter (December 2008), the touch pad failed and I replaced it for $50. It is now August 2011, and that new touch pad is bad again, and this time, the part is $170. The Maytag will not run and the lighted display will not function from the start button. This was a $450 dishwasher that is now only five years old and useless. In all fairness to Maytag, their customer service is very good and willing to work with customers. Unfortunately, the product is very inferior in my opinion. To have stupid stuff like a control touch pad failing every three years is absurd and the replacement cost makes fixing it a bad investment.I will be going out this weekend and buying a brand-new inexpensive dishwasher that is on sale for $229. We purchased a MDB8949SAW dishwasher in 2013. 1 month after the warranty expired the touch buttons went on it. If you selected normal it would opt for something else like rinse only. We researched online and my husband followed instruction online to take the door off and seal the moisture to prevent this from happening. This worked for about 2 months and now back to the same thing. We paid $500 for this and just living with the problem for now. All we can do is warn others.

I have only had this Maytag dishwasher for 2 years. My control panel has gone crazy! The child lock is blinking and I never touched it. I have tried to clear it by touching the heated dry button for 3 seconds, every once in a while it will clear. It eventually will start blinking again on child lock. I did research and have found out that Im not the only one that is having this problem. I now have to get it fixed.

I made the mistake of buying the stainless steel bottom freezer (model# MBL2258XES1) approximately 1 year before the freezer started to make a periodic clunking sound. The repairman responded because my year warranty was still active and found no cause for the noise. Fast forward a couple of months later and it started pouring water out onto my hardwood floors!!! Unfortunately it happened while we were away and my floors were destroyed. Maytag wants nothing to do with me. Im so disgusted. I now have to have a towel permanently on my kitchen floor. Nice. I made the unfortunate mistake of buying an Amana dishwasher recently not knowing that they were also owned by Maytag. The dishwasher is a water waster :( This is very disappointing - you try and buy American and you get screwed. If any lawsuits start up, sign me up!!!

We bought a Maytag dishwasher (Model: MDBH979AWS3) in January 2010. In April 2012, the control panel stopped working. A local repairman came out to see it for $160, diagnosed it, and suggested that we call Maytag to see if they would give us the part because it was only a two-year old machine. He did say that the control panel was not a part that was troublesome!Maytag offered an extended warranty for only $287 that would cover the part! The total repair cost was almost equal to the cost of a new machine. Home Depot, when consulted, acted as if they know nothing. After reading about other peoples experiences with this company, I feel that it is no longer an honorable company standing behind its products. In fact, the whole repair process is set up to rip off the consumer. We will now look to purchase the best and cheapest non-Maytag product, not from Home Depot, and throw it away when it gives out, which more than likely will be soon. These companies have finally convinced me to do what I am sure what they have always wanted every consumer to do. Throw it away when it breaks down.

Do NOT purchase a Maytag dishwasher. What happened to the Maytag repairman being so lonely. Now he has lots of company in the way of angry consumers. Purchased a Maytag dishwasher and less than a year later the control panel failed. It was still under warranty but the service person just tweaked it instead of replacing it. Now, less than a year later it has failed and will cost over $200 to replace and repair. This is disgusting.

Two in a row make it just over a year then the control panel goes out. You call a Maytag repairman and they say the control panel is bad! #1 it should last more than a year and a half. #2 a part shouldnt cost you as much as the darn dishwasher! Do not recommend nor would I ever buy another Maytag.

My Maytag dishwasher is 1.5 years old and wont start. The Maytag call center said they couldnt help me except to sell me a service warranty for $269. Then she wanted to argue with me when I asked her to pass on my dissatisfaction with their products to her supervisor. I thought Maytag was a good product. For what I pay for parts and labor, I can get a new dishwasher. She said do I expect not to have any problems with that dishwasher. I will never buy anything Maytag again. They do not stand behind their products. Plus, it sounds like many people have had the same problem with their Maytag dishwasher. This part is defective. (I am assuming it is a control panel problem.) Since corporations are people now is there someone I push into my dishwasher so they will fix it. LOL.

Just passed warranty period and Maytag dishwasher broke. It would not start. Called and was allowed to purchase extended warranty for $135.00. A new panel was shipped and dishwasher lasted just under one more year with same issue. Another extended warranty was offered for $199.00. Needless to say we are buying a new dishwasher and not a Maytag or Whirlpool. The panels are notorious for rusting out. Hmmm moisture of a dishwasher and parts easily corrode.

Purchased Maytag dishwasher two years ago from Home Depot. It worked for about six months before it would stop working. When adding a dish after initial start would cause the unit to just die. After unplugging unit for a day the start/cancel drain buttons will flash. After reading online about a demo mode have tried and gotten it to work periodically. I continue to read online and have found there is a diagnostic mode. The settings are in a schematic packed with the unit. I found mine written in French (part #W10321879A). I called Maytag/Whirlpool and asked for the English version. They could not and would not provide me with part #W10321878A the English version, a single sheet of paper. They will only provide to a licensed repair technician. I am only asking for what should have been included in the original purchase. I paid $850 for a dishwasher that is not chump change. I know the control panel is bad but I would like to use it until the new part arrives. I think I may return the control panel and take my losses and go buy a brand that is not owned by Cesspool (Whirlpool).

We bought a Maytag dishwasher 4 years ago, we had to have it serviced a few months after purchase for the soap & rinse agent dispenser not working, then a few months after warranty was up the buttons on machine wouldnt work, the control panel failed so we had to pay for a new one and install it... Well last night exactly one year from the install of the new control panel I walked into my kitchen to find it full of smoke and the dishwasher pour out smoke, when my husband came home he took the door off and sure enough the control panel was burnt and melted! Very scary. It is a very good thing I was home and this is why I never leave appliances running if I am not home.

We spent $600 on a Maytag Jet Steam Plus dishwasher and its junk. We bought it in May of 2013 and the top panel is burnt out and the ribbon or control wires is corroded. Maytag wont pay for replacement parts and I wouldnt recommend anyone buy Maytag again. I thought it was supposedly a good brand but its nothing but garbage.

We love our Maytag Dishwasher! It's very durable, doesn't use a lot of water and really gets our dishes exceptionally clean. The best part is that it sterilizes on the final cycle! We've long trusted any Maytag appliance in our families for generations.
