We purchased a new Maytag dishwasher for $500 from Home Depot about 1 year ago... it stopped working 4 days ago. I did not get satisfaction from Maytag customer service as they tried to sell me a repair program whilst I was trying to determine if it was under warranty as it is a known problem. I now have a repair person coming out with a price of $189.95 + time. A complete joke of an organization. Lesson? Do NOT purchase any MAYTAG brand. They DO NOT stand by their product. My rating is ZERO STARS, the site forces me to enter a star which is ONE TOO MANY. I will NOT do business with Maytag, Whirpool or any of their brands again.

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher from Home Depot in January 2009. We did not begin using it until perhaps March of 2009, so just over 2 years ago. It gets ran maybe 1 to 2 times per week. I went to turn it on a day ago and the right side of the control panel, where you press the start button, does not work. When I checked Maytags website, I discovered there was a recall due to the heating element. So, I had the repair technician out and he told me that the control panel was bad and it would cost $300 for parts and labor to repair. We paid $600 for this dishwasher. Of course, we have the option of purchasing a new dishwasher and receive a rebate but that ends up being more than just ordering parts and replacing them ourselves, but something only 2 years old should not break. From reading all the other complaints on this forum, I am surprised that Maytag has not done something about the control panel and the humidity issue which seems to cause the control panel to go out. This is an expensive fix which Maytag needs to address. Come on Maytag!

Not long after dishwasher MDB7609AWB2 was out of warranty the START switch on the keyboard would not work. Called dealer and they sent someone out to check for a charge not quite $100. Could not fix it so said it needed a new control panel which with labor was almost $200. Doesnt work so get it fixed. Now less than 3 years later the same thing has happened - wont start. Lousy engineering and part probably made in China to save Maytag money, I feel is the cause. This is happening over and over to those of us who purchased in good faith what used to be a reliable product from a reliable company.

This Maytag dishwasher was purchased because Maytag has always been represented as a reliable brand. Wish I had done some research on this problem before repairing it! The control panel went bad after 18 months (and at least 6 months of this time it was not used at all!). The repair cost $300, the dishwasher only cost $429, and if I had realized how much this would cost I would have bought another dishwasher instead. Wonder how long this control panel will last? I called Maytag to complain and was told by Dana badge no. ** that there was nothing to be done as it was out of warranty. We have had dishwashers for 10+ years before that never gave us any trouble. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor and she told me she didnt have one! Really, how about if George Moore the CFO or Arthur Learmonth the President call me back on this one! We shall see what they say, but I can see by all the complaints about the same issue with Maytag dishwashers that we will probably be out of luck unless we start or join a class action lawsuit (looks like there is one in California already). I will amend this post if Maytag decides to stand by their product and at least pay for the cost of the control panel, but Im not holding my breath.

I bought a Maytag Dishwasher Model #MDB7749SBW2 in 2013. It worked great for 2 years. In 2015, the control panel malfunctioned. All the lights on the control panel would light up and the dishwasher wouldnt start. I called Maytag. They sent out a service tech. He replaced the control panel. I started having the same problems two years later, 2017. I called Maytag today, 9/11/17, to see if they had recalled this dishwasher. No, it hasnt been recalled. They offered to sell me a extended warranty for $400+, that would pay for the service call and parts or, I could find another Maytag, Whirlpool or KitchenAid dishwasher and depending on the model, I could get a 25-45% discount on a new one. I asked why they havent recalled this model, due to the problems that so many people are having. They dont know. Im writing this review to let those of you who have bought this dishwasher know, that the product is faulty.

I had bought Maytag Dishwasher MDBH979AWW3 in Sep. 2009. Oct 2011, the dishwasher stopped working and the control panel had to be replaced, few days later, it stopped working again and the Thermal fuse had to be replaced. Now two months later, it stopped working again. Till this point, Ive spent a lot of money on the repairs and I wish I had used that money to buy a new dishwasher. Looks like not just the Maytag dishwashers are faulty, but even the parts they have are faulty. I will not recommend any Maytag products to anyone.

This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13
This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13 at Home Depot. That makes it 2 1/2 years old to date. It has been a good dishwasher up until now. A few weeks ago I noticed it was doing something wonky. First of all it was not responding its usual way when I tried to turn it on after closing the door. The start button was not responding immediately, nor were some of the other buttons. I also noticed that after the dry cycle had completed and the door was then opened to unload, that the lights on the door were flashing. Then, when I shut the door after unloading the dishes, the washer would come on without having any buttons pushed. Recently, in addition to the difficulty we are experiencing getting it to start, the washer will keep running without ever turning off. Last night I turned it on before going to bed, and it was still running this morning. Calling the service number, the control panel part will run around $150, with a $98 charge for repairman to come out. Who knows if that 98$ isnt just to walk in the door, and whether that includes the time it takes to install the part. The dishwasher was around $400 with my husbands military discount from Home Depot, so it seems crazy to spend that kind of money to have a part replaced that is going to break again because of PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. If that part is replaced (at half the cost of the dishwasher) whos to say what other part is going to break next, perhaps requiring another service call plus price of part. So, conclusion is to throw this one in the landfill and purchase another dishwasher, sadly. The case of Planned Obsolescence is reflected in many of the comments/reports here on Consumer Affairs. The age of the failing control panels of the Maytag/Whirlpool washers are running around the same time spans. No doubt in my mind that these control panels are designed to fail after a specific amount of run cycles/time on this machine. These appliance companies that are manufacturing these total crap appliances so that people will have to buy replacements within 3 or 4 years are filling our already packed landfills while robbing the consumer. Its plain to see for all who care to investigate the matter. A service repairman whom Ive used for years and has been in the business for 25, told me that most appliances today are total pieces of junk compared what they used to be and are designed to fail. He said it has greatly impacted his business because people are replacing appliances versus repairing them because it is not cost effective to have them repaired. He also added that the guts of these appliances looked like they were made from Cracker Jack toy quality plastic materials. There should be laws to stop these manufactures from Planned Obsolescence, and we need to go back to the way appliances use to be made... to last! I have no idea what its going to take to ever see that happen. This is what happens when you have very little competition and 2 major appliance manufacturers. More parts are being designed to fail, so that they can line their pockets. Pitiful.

I have the same complaint as everyone else. I have had my dishwasher since April 2013. Less than 9 months after having it the control panel went out and they came and replaced it. Now June 2015, 2 years and 2 months after purchasing and a year and a half after the control panel was replaced, none of the buttons work except the cancel button. How is it that these machines, as expensive as they are, crap out after 2 years! Such a waste on money!! Maytag has lost my business forever!!

My dishwashers warranty expired in March 2011 and it stopped running in April 2011. I have not had the use of my dishwasher since then. I was able to finally afford to have a technician take a look at it. I am told that it is the circuit board and it is going to cost as much as the price I bought the dishwasher for. I thought Maytag products were better than the other products so I paid a little more and got a Maytag only to find out that they are garbage. I might as well bought an unknown brand at a cheaper price for all your products were worth. I guess you cannot trust anyone these days, and I will never buy a Maytag product of any kind again. I think that you should fix this.

We purchased a Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher in June 2013. It worked well enough initially. We bought it because it had a large capacity and built in disposal. By August 2014, just after the warranty expired, the front panel gave out. To have someone even look at it cost $150. By following instructions from internet discussion groups by other people facing similar issues, we were able to get it to run in random mode. Programs were no longer indicated or selectable but dishes generally still got cleaned. Two months later a wheel fell off the premium rack glides. Finally after about 2 years of use, the dishwasher finally gave up altogether. At this point the stainless steel tub is no longer stainless. The entire device has worn poorly and looks shoddily made. This is the worst use of $900 I have ever made, and what tweaks me the most is Maytags attitude and their ludicrous warranty that barely lasts out the weakest link in the device.

Purchased Maytag Jetclean Dishwasher Model # MDB7749SBM3 on March 19, 2014 and on June 10, 2017 the washer would not go through the cycles properly. So I got on the internet to check out the problem. Maytag has very flimsy wiring circuit on the back of the control panel that rusts out due to being close to high-temperature water. Obviously a design flaw. The only way to fix it is to replace the control panel for $150 dollars with another flawed part. Do not buy Maytag dishwasher.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher with a control panel in September of 2013. In August of 2014, the control panel died and did not allow me to run the washer. In March of 2015, the piece which was replaced died. When contacting Maytag, even when they did the repair the first time, said they were unable to cover the cost because it was now out of warranty. Ive seen several class action lawsuits around the product with Maytag. Do not buy a Maytag. It used to be a quality brand, but is now terrible.

At that same time I bought a Maytag bottom freezer from Home Depot... It has never worked right. Ice dispenser broken after 1 year, food freezing in fridge at any temperature... It just died! Maytag refuses to take any responsibility for THIS POS!They should be ashamed at the way they treated me. I am 94 years old, and have fought for our freedom, and was looking for one simple thing from this American company. Its called fairness! Maytag sucks! You have lost a lifetime customer. Maytag Dishwasher MDB77495 - We bought this dishwasher September of 2013. April 2013 when you pressed the option I wanted the options auto clean, rinse only, steam sanitize and delay hours. The thing would work when pressing start but I have no idea what it is doing. The repair man replaced the board and all was good for a couple of months then it happened again. The board was replaced again and in two more months it failed again. The repair man told me that moisture was getting to the board and there was corrosion on the ribbon mentioned in another review here. He contacted Maytag both times and gave them my contact information but they never called me + they told him that they have never heard of this happening with this machine. We had a Maytag machine 8 years ago where the board actually melted but like an idiot decided to try them again. I will never buy a Maytag again.

Our 3-year-old Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher continues to have problem
Our 3-year-old Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher continues to have problems, especially with electronic keypad, which we had replaced (exactly) 1 year ago. The issues are: currently (and previously) not filling water; leakage around gasket, which we replaced twice. I read in other related posts that fire hazard has been flagged as a potential problem. Im not surprised as I cant tell you how many times this machine has gone through the motions (cycles) of appearing to clean, then we discovered that it has not cleaned anything, despite being very hot (and dry) inside the unit. Stay away from this brand.Multiple service calls and replacement parts we incurred at our own cost, in addition to many episodes of inconvenience to our family.

We bought a Maytag dishwasher March 2012 and the unit wouldnt turn on October 2013 - 6 months after the warranty ended. We called their service department and they told us to unplug the dishwasher or turn off the circuit breaker. We did so and the unit still would not turn on. We called a repairman who advised us that the touch pad was not working. The cost with parts and labor would be close to $300 which was more than half the original price. We repaired it and I sent all the papers with a letter to the consumer department and today I got a call advising us that they would not do anything. Do you think I have any further recourse? Do get it back. You have to unscrew the panel from the door. Inside is all plastic and broken. How can it be broken when it is an area never touched. Every time you open the door after a wash it pops out again. To get it repaired will cost too much. It is a badly designed unit which should have a latch instead of just pulling out.I am so disappointed and will think twice before buying Maytag. I have never had luck with any Maytag dishwasher lasting. At this point I dont know whether to just buy another brand or glue it. We are not keeping our home so I dont want to invest money. Awful machine and I see it is discontinued so there are a lot of complaints. Thanks for sticking us Maytag.

Purchased Maytag MDBH979AWW serial #FY4202009 from Lowes October 30, 2009. Control panel went out after warranty, and we replaced it. It quit working again in May 2012, and we replace the control panel, and then in November 2013 it quit and we replaced the control panel along with a new door latch just to be sure on December 4, 2013. The dishwasher quit working mid-cycle a couple of weeks ago only 9.5 months since we replaced the last control panel. Im fairly certain it is the control panel again. We have paid more to replace control panels for this dishwasher than we paid for the original appliance. There should be a recall and compensation on this issue. Very disappointed that Maytag and Whirlpool do not resolve this issue. We will be buying a different dishwasher, and it will not be Maytag or Whirlpool.

I have always hated soft touch control panels so I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher with old style push buttons. IT DID NOT CLEAN THE DISHES, so Lowes took it back and I was convinced to UPGRADE to an MDB7749SBB0 and was told this machine was top of the line, although it was VERY temperamental from the start. I guess I should have done my homework. I see now several complaints about the control panels not working. I was told that MAYTAG was a very reputable company and that they stand behind their product. WRONG!. The company KNOWS these panels have problems and should replace them free of charge as it is obviously a defect. Nope, first they offer to send someone out (In a week) to repair it at $80 just to look at it and the panel is over $100 to replace, and when I complained they tried to sell me extra coverage for $250. REALLY? What is the purpose of purchasing a QUALITY dishwasher? I might as well purchase a cheap dishwasher and replace it when it breaks. I think you should be responsible for your product when you have several complaints on a specific part.

On February 2006, I purchased a Maytag Quiet Series 300 Dishwasher and on July 2007, a motor leak. Maytag fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty. Thereafter (December 2008), the touch pad failed and I replaced it for $50. It is now August 2011, and that new touch pad is bad again, and this time, the part is $170. The Maytag will not run and the lighted display will not function from the start button. This was a $450 dishwasher that is now only five years old and useless. In all fairness to Maytag, their customer service is very good and willing to work with customers. Unfortunately, the product is very inferior in my opinion. To have stupid stuff like a control touch pad failing every three years is absurd and the replacement cost makes fixing it a bad investment.I will be going out this weekend and buying a brand-new inexpensive dishwasher that is on sale for $229. This model is not a Whirlpool product but it is a name brand.

Model #MDB8959SAS1 MAYTAG Dishwasher - purchased in 2014 at Home Depot. First we had to replace the rack adjuster, and after that another part broke. Finally, the electrical control board totally melted and smelled up the house. Fortunately our breaker switch worked and it didnt cause a fire. But Ive read other reviews of this happening with Maytag dishwashers where there was a fire. It now resides at the landfill.

We purchased a MDB8949SAW dishwasher in 2013. 1 month after the warranty expired the touch buttons went on it. If you selected normal it would opt for something else like rinse only. We researched online and my husband followed instruction online to take the door off and seal the moisture to prevent this from happening. This worked for about 2 months and now back to the same thing. We paid $500 for this and just living with the problem for now. All we can do is warn others.

Dishes and glasses break because of the tine spaces. Horrible dishwasher for high price. I hate it so much it upsets me daily. All I get is a sorry from Maytag. Its not that old, only a year and a half. Why no satisfaction? I will avoid all Maytag products for life.

I will not take a day off of work to wait for a repairman only to have it fail a second time. It is hard for me to believe a company that builds its reputation on a bored repairman would produce a product with a faulty control panel and not do something about it. Like your other folks, I will never buy another Maytag product and will not the waste the money to repair it. I am going out tomorrow to buy another dishwasher and throw this one away.

The dishwasher (model number MDB7100AWW, serial number 158462977YH) that was replaced due to recall for fear of fire hazard has only lasted two years. Is there any recall on the recall? Our dishwasher was purchased in 2001. We live approximately 30 miles from the former location of Maytag manufacture, Newton, IA. In our 39 years of marriage, we have always had Maytag appliances: washer, dryer, fridge, and dishwasher with long lasting results. Our previous dishwasher lasted 23 years. It is very disappointing to feel the need to replace a Maytag appliance, which weve always felt was industry standard after such a relatively short life! It no longer fills correctly, and trouble has been diagnosed by service tech as bad control board. It seems theres a possibility of fire hazard once again. Can you offer any help short of replacing appliance as cost of repairs does not seem effective? Thank you in advance for your attention.

I purchased my Maytag MDB7749AWM2 dishwasher approximately 3 years ago. Since it was stainless inside and out I felt that I was making a long-lasting purchase. The handle on this particular model doesnt have a latch release button. You are actually just pulling the door open. That would be fine if they had used something besides plastic on the control panel cover where the handle is built into. The control panel is only held together with plastic pieces that the screws go into. After only a couple of years of pulling on this the plastic parts holding the screws have all broken causing my control panel to just flash. My husband is a maintenance engineer and upon taking the screws out couldnt believe with such a high quality machine that they had used plastic in the main place where they needed strength. The wiring was cut so short to the control panel that one of the plugs had come undone when the cover began separating. I only need the plastic cover because my control panel is working fine but of course you have to buy the entire control unit which is $150.I purchased Maytag because I thought they represented a reputable American company but I was very wrong. When I contacted Maytag about the problem they were very unconcerned and just gave me a link where I could purchase the part. When I told them it would be my last Maytag product they didnt even have a comment. Giving Made in America a bad name.

I will never buy another Maytag product, and moreover, will tell everyone I possibly can, not to do so either. Like many others, I have a two-year-old dishwasher that needs a control board already, and from what Ive read this wont be the first time. It would cost $150 for the part, plus the service calls make it around a $350 experience. The only choice is to pull the machine out, or buy a 5-year warranty for another $318.56. Grand total for your marvelous high quality Maytag that lasts only 7 years? Around $1,000. I am so sad, the company used to symbolize quality but now when I see the logo, I think of landfills.

I am about to replace the control panel on my Maytag dishwasher (MDB7749SAM1) for the second time since purchasing it in 2012. Additionally, I have replaced the door gasket twice, as it becomes loose and does not properly seal, causing water to leak from the door during the wash cycle. There are many documented complaints of corrosion on the control panel ribbon cable necessitating replacement of the entire unit. If there were a way to replace the ribbon cable instead of the entire panel, it might be a bit easier to swallow the repair expense. Either way, it is ridiculous to have to spend almost 1/3 the original cost of the dishwasher to make it usable again, and twice in only 5 years time! My previous dishwasher was 30 years old and still functioning (though noisily) when I replaced it with this expensive lemon. I have not contacted Maytag, as it is not in warranty, however, it seems that a major appliance should last longer than a couple of years without issues.

I bought a model MDB7749AWW1 Maytag dishwasher in May 2011. I thought I was getting a nice one, but no one really liked the way the racks were designed after we got it installed and began using it. My biggest complaint however is with the control panel. It failed in November 2011 and was replaced under warranty. It has now failed a second time in June 2012 (just over one year old and out of warranty). Theyve offered to pay for the parts since it is so close to one year and I pay labor. Well see how that goes. Looks like there are lots of problems with Maytag control panels.

My wife & I purchased our Maytag dishwasher model # MDBH979SAB1 on 3/8/
My wife & I purchased our Maytag dishwasher model # MDBH979SAB1 on 3/8/13 from homedepot.com. Approximately 24.5 months later our dishwasher experienced control panel light button malfunctions similar in description to the many other consumer complaints on this & other forums. I would like to share some additional information based on my research about this issue and possible fix. The source of Whirlpools control panel issue is design related. The issue is caused from moisture which induces oxidation on the Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) cable that is integrated with the control panel and connects via connector to the electronic control box. The issue usually manifests itself on the cable just where it bends coming out of the touch membrane panel. The oxidization of the FPC cable eventually creates electronic shorts or opens between the parallel traces thus causing the panel control lighted function problem which disables the dishwasher from being used. The cable, since integrated with the control panel, is not a separate replaceable part. In order to repair, the Whirlpool diagnostic action is to replace the entire control panel. I quickly learned after doing some online research about Whirlpools control panel issue that it extends back to at least 2011 with control panel part # W10475784 and corresponding or like PNs of this design. The number of control panels sold of this design by various online appliance part centers coincide with the high number of reported like control panel failures. In just 2015 alone so far, the sales for this control panel have been in the hundreds. This indicates that Whirlpool continues to replace defectively designed control panels upon failure with defectively designed control panels. There was also a class action lawsuit filed against Whirlpool in the state of California on May 6th, 2013 for the control panel issue. The filed lawsuit is public & the whole document is available online as a pdf file. Unfortunately, Judge **, granted Stipulation to Dismiss Case with prejudice 74 on 5/23/14. I was unable to find out any details as to why the case was dismissed. I did not call Whirlpool about my control panel issue, instead I handled all correspondence through Email to them at WHIRLPOOL_CUSTOMEREXPERIENCE@WHIRLPOOL. COM.My initial correspondence included all the facts about this issue & that I did not wish to have their warranty coverage/period explained to me for I understood them, the problem was a quality issue, and just basically wanted to know what they were going to do or have been doing about resolution. The email correspondence with them got me nowhere. They initially replied back with all the form niceties like We apologize, We understand your frustration, & We value you as a customer, but denied every knowing about such control panel issue, regurgitated their warranty policy & period and were unwilling to resolve anything. In their last reply they stated how unfortunate it was that customers only take the time to provide negative feedback!! This is just bad business, and though I would not like to think it, but the control panel issue may have been by marketing design. Please keep in mind that Whirlpool manufactures appliances under at least 15 different name brands including Maytag, Kenmore, Admiral Kirkland, KitchenAid, Roper, Speed Queen to name a few. All is not lost, being an electronics engineer I looked into the do it yourself fix. If you are not comfortable in doing this, you may be able to find someone to help. I was able to repair mine by carefully scraping off the oxidation from the FPC cable (will appear brown in color) & encapsulating it with high density 100% dampening silicon (non-caulk type) to protect it from moisture & withstand heat. There can be other ways of protecting it from moisture instead of silicon, just make sure it can withstand heat, wont become brittle, & that it may not cause potential damage to the cable itself. My repair has worked for about 4 weeks now, & shows no sign of oxidizing. The problem may be more severe if the oxidation has actually opened or broke one or more of the small cable traces. Do not attempt to solder this cable! Its way too thin & will only make matters worse. An open can be carefully bridged with a conductive glue or ink thats on the market. One source is a window defogger repair kit product thats sold at auto stores that has a conductive glue in it. Post open repairs will need to be checked with an ohm meter to make sure repair is good and that any adjacent trace lines have not been shorted by repair. Of those of you that have just bought or had installed Whirlpools defective control panel, please encapsulate the FPC cable as soon as possible to protect it from moisture. If you dont, it will surely oxidize again over time.

Just like most of the other consumers, the control panel on my three year old Maytag dishwasher (MDB 6701AWW3) has failed for the fourth time. The cost of repairs and extended warranties has now far surpassed the original cost of the machine, which was $400. Today when I called Maytags customer service, I was offered another extended warranty for $316.05 for one year. I suggested that there was a defect in design but was assured that this was probably due to use of the machine. I guess if I left it as an unused space filler, it would last forever. All the lights came on and nothing worked after that. We contacted Maytag and was told to turn off the power and restart after 2 minutes which did absolutely nothing. No problem - try again. Again, nothing. The disappointment is compounded by the fact that this dishwasher is only 2 years 7 months old. Thus I felt like how could my other dishes not have this film on them even though I faithfully used Finish. I grew up trusting and believing in the name brand Maytag. Unfortunately, I wont anymore. I purchased a Maytag MDB7749AWM1 dishwasher from Lowes thinking that I would not need the extended warranty because well it was a Maytag and they just keep working and working for years to come. Not true anymore. 1.5 years after the purchase the control board has gone out. I come to find that hundreds upon hundreds of people have all experienced the same thing. Shortly after the manufacturer warranty expires, the panel dies. By all accounts it is an issue of POOR engineering and Maytag now being produced by Whirlpool. The replacement part is between $150 and $200. Thats about half the purchase price. It is a racket. Companies like this probably think, well if we build something that is going to last and last we cant make money on that. So lets rig it so our stuff breaks right after the warranty and charge half the price of the unit to fix it so we continue to make money either by people buying the part or just going and getting a new dishwasher. Well I can tell you I will be getting a new dishwasher and it certainly wont be a Maytag OR a Whirlpool.

Sounds wonderful. Thats what I thought when I let my son have my 20-year-old, still running older washer. I wanted a new one. It worked good for 3 years and then one night I went to throw the clothes in the dryer and its full of water. After the last rinse and spin, it filled again and stopped. So I tried it on every cycle and got the same results. I thought, No problem. We have a great, honest repairman. Ill call him the next day and hell fix it. When I called and told him what type of washer it was, he was surprised it was working at all. Seems they had a problem with water leaking into the transmission. Apparently, I was lucky that mine had worked for as long as it did. Like I said, Im lucky to have an honest repairman. He told me he could charge me to put in a new timer and solve that problem, but I shouldnt waste my money since it is just a matter of time before it goes bad. Seems they were all bad and Maytag never made good on them. Told me the smartest thing to do would just to go ahead, bite the bullet and get another. It will be here Tuesday morning. Hopefully, this will be the last one I have to buy (keeping my fingers crossed since I had hoped the Maytag was going to be the last). My old machine is still running great for my son. Over 30 years my repairman has had to fix quite a few things for me - ice makers, dishwashers and even a timer on my old washer. Thank goodness he was honest enough to not fix my washer. I dont know if there are even any Maytag products around now, but if there are, they will never get my business. I spent a fortune on a machine that should have lasted the rest of my life. Ive had childs toys that lasted longer. My advice is do not buy Maytag.

Dishwasher Control Panel MDB7749AWM2 - Purchased unit on 11/22/2011. June of 2014 my start button stopped working, and after searching online I guess I consider myself lucky. Spent 38 minutes on Maytag consumer service site speaking to a rep who walked me thru a reset that did not help and then explained that my machine was no longer under warranty and $149 for the service call and the cost of the part assuming it was a control panel would total over $250 on a machine I spent $500 on. I spoke to a supervisor who was only willing to sell me a control panel at 50% off and do it yourself, and while they claim there are no consumer issues with this part, they stated that the warranty on the part is only 90 days. I told them this was the last Maytag/Whirlpool/KitchenAid appliance I would purchase and they did not seem to care so I will be moving on to another dishwasher since I will not invest $250 in a fix of an item that they will only stand by for 90 days!

I spent a lot of money for top-of-the-line Maytag. It sanitized and worked to perfection. Delay wash, force wash, grinds everything you could possibly ever want. Fantastic and I can move the racks around. Beautiful. Stainless steel tub. Stainless outside. It has a ribbon cord in the controller. They didnt seal the controller head enough. So the dishwasher stops working after an almost guaranteed 2 yards from the ribbon cord rusting. Well you got to buy another one and it comes as a fill unit at 250 IF you replace it yourself. About 500 for a plumber. And you replace it every 2 years. Maytag is having class actions about it, it knew it has the problem. Its just very profitable to continue having the problem.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher less than two years ago. The Maytag repairman just informed me that the control panel, the control board and the harness were burnt and needed to be replaced with parts costing over $300. I said, No, thanks. I paid him the $99 service call fee and called Maytag to see if they would help. Nope, they pretty much said, tough luck.

I own a Maytag MDB9150AWB dishwasher which isnt covered under current recalls. Yesterday, I heard a loud pop sound, and it stopped working (also popped the circuit breaker). After taking the door apart, we found burnt wires at the bottom of the door close to where they bend to go under the dishwasher.I called Maytag to find out if they would do anything, since this seemed like a defect in the materials used. They wont offer anything!

2013 We purchased from Lowes Maytag washer and dryer front load stackable.
2013 We purchased from Lowes Maytag washer and dryer front load stackable. We live in a house 1890. We have a closet that these units go into so we are restricted to what brand we can buy. WE read the reviews. People must lie or are paid to write good ones. Within a few weeks the washer was giving us trouble. The door latch was not closing properly and it would take up to 20-30 min. to get it to start. Called and they said the latch was stuck. Again started having problems on and off. Months went by and had another service call. Same issue. Fixed it again. 2014 again same problem. We have to order a new latch and some other part. They could not get the part. Called Maytag directly and they were back ordered. What does that tell you. This is a major problem so much so that no one anywhere had the parts. 6 wks to finally get it and got it fixed. But in the meantime, the dryer was not working correctly. The clothes were damp and lint was all over. It was like a steam bath. They came out and when they looked at the back of the dryer it was burnt. Now this is what upset me. He said it could have caught fire and burnt down our house. Nice. The dryer was shot. They said to fix it would cost more than it was worth. Our warranty gave us a new dryer. 3 wks later I have my washer and dryer back working. In the meantime we have spent more time at the laundromat than at home. Brand new washer and dryer and are going to the laundromat. We had the dryer 5 days before it stopped working. Brand new dryer. Called and got a service call. The spring on the start button was not correctly put in. Who inspects these products. This was not right from the factory. So they fix it. Said if it happened again they would need to replace the entire thing. I do not know what that means. That was Dec. End of Dec. the washing machine is not running through the cycle. It had weird display on the washer. Thought maybe it was overloaded. Had to cancel and drain and then hit drain and spin. This takes not only more time but more electricity. I put in 2 sheets and it did it again. Had a few loads that ran properly and again it started. Called for service. He comes out and the motor that runs the belt to spin and some circuit board is shot. They call 2 days later and say that no parts can be found anywhere. WTH! It is 18 mos old and already the parts are extinct. So the warranty company said it was not worth fixing. They are giving us a new washer.I remember the commercials about Maytag that the repairmen had nothing to do. Well I thought it was because they did not break down. No... they cannot find parts. This is unacceptable. We have to go through the inconvenience of them not working and schlepping to the laundromat baskets of clothes. In the winter this is not fun. We are retired. Have to walk down icy steps. I have a washer/dryer upstairs and I cannot use them. Dont work. Not just the aggravation of dealing with repairs but not getting parts available, then having to wait to get money back to order a new washer and dryer and then get the dryer and 5 days later it doesnt work. Now we have to wait 2 wks for a new washer. It better work. Have to buy the warranty over again on each product cause they fulfill it when they buy you a new product. So this costs us extra money. The money we pay at the laundromat. The cost of electricity every time we have to run the washer 3-4 times to get it to spin out the water so I can dry them.To say I am upset is an understatement. I was told by a rep at Lowes, well Maytag has about 3 lemons a yr and you just got all of them. That was their consolation to our problem. I think Maytag needs to inspect their product. Our house could have burnt down. It is not a matter of parts going bad but damn the stuff is not even 2 yrs old. And the dryer was 5 days old when it stopped working. WE had a Maytag dishwasher and it was installed brand new and did not work. It had a defect in it. I never got to wash one dish in it and it had to be repaired. So I am not happy with Maytag. You go on Facebook and tell your story and all the Maytag horror stories come out. You need to do something to save yourself. Your company name is going down the tubes. Thought you should know this.

Purchased a Maytag dishwasher (Model #MDB7749SAW1) in January of 2013, installed in February. A little over a year later the control panel went out. I called Maytag and they were kind enough to pay for the part and I had to pay for the service. Now it is July of 2015 and the control panel is going out again. I called Maytag directly and talked with a service representative and the best they could do for me was for $269.95 they would have it fixed and I would have a one year warranty as well. Based on the pattern the warranty is not going to help as it goes out just after a year. For only having it 2 1/2 years it is becoming a very expensive dishwasher. There should be a recall on this control panel. Very disappointed.

Our Maytag dishwasher was purchased new in December 2013. Less than a year later, the control panel needed to be completely replaced. While this first repair was under warranty, the next Complete control panel replacement was not. 8 months later, the same problem and this time the expense of over $300 is out of pocket! My Maytag model MDB7749AWWI was purchased from Home Depot on March 10, 2011. On July 12, 2012, my dishwasher would not start. I had out of town guests and then the repair person was out of town, so I did not get anyone out to look at it until July 31. He stated that we had bad controls. The parts would be approximately $420.61. He could not get any parts because everyone was out of this part. Does that mean that all the dishwashers of this model number are broken? Is there a recall? This is unreal. When I was asked if I wanted extended warranty, I said no. If I needed an extended warranty, the equipment must be junk. Well, I needed the extended warranty. It is junk! I will never, never, never purchase another Maytag appliance as long as I live!

We bought a Maytag dishwasher in May of last year. The control panel went out about 3 months after we got it. It just started doing its own thing Like not running the wash cycle or a different cycle than we pushed. We called for a repair and were told by the repair man that the control panel was on the fritz. He ordered a new one and told us it would be a month before he could come back and install it. When the control panel showed up at our house, we installed it ourselves because we did not want to have a faulty dishwasher running in the house.Just yesterday we noticed a huge rusty area on the bottom rack. We called and were hold for 20 minutes if not more, before we were even able to talk to a rep. She then came up with every excuse as to why our rack was rusty (hard water, water changing??). We asked for a new rack but she wanted to send a repair kit. We were on the phone with her for half an hour, if not more, and she just refused to send a new rack. When we finally asked to speak to the manager we were told the wait time was 32 minutes and hung up! Do not buy crappy Maytag appliances with even crappier customer service reps! (see our review about our Maytag fridge!).

We bought this Maytag dishwasher two years ago with a two year warranty. We paid close to $700. Six months after we bought it, it started having problems on and off. They are including: leaking water, lights going on and off, cycles are not completed. We changed the console once, and soon after that it broke down again, and this time is out of warranty. Total repair times are: 6 times in two years. My husband call the company, asked them if there is a recall for this model? They told that there is no recall. Then the repair person came. According to his repair experience he said this is the common problem and he got a lot of calls for the same problem. If he told the truth about this, then the company was lying to its consumers!!

Sometimes when you walk by it, it just turns on. No way to turn it off. Nothing works on the control panel. From what Ive seen on the internet, everybody is having the same problem. My Maytag dishwasher MDB7749SAM is not quite 5 years old. At the end of December 2016 a bubble appeared on my vinyl floor. The plumber could not find any broken pipes or reason for any moisture to have gotten under the flooring. A flooring company did not know what was causing the bubble, moisture or the vinyl glue had failed. The floor got worse and worse, more bubbles.Called the flooring company again. Raised the register cover and could see all the moisture under the vinyl and underlayment. Plumber discovered the dishwasher fill valve had failed but because there was so much insulation on the kick plate, at the bottom of the dishwasher, it forced the water, which was in a pan under the dishwasher, to push the water to the back by the wall and under the flooring. Plumber said, the insulation acted like a dam to keep the water from showing in the front of the dishwasher. The first and subsequent bubbles, in vinyl were 3 feet away from the dishwasher. No way to tell the dishwasher had the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem? If not, take care to remove the kickplate and check your dishwasher for water problems.

I was having similar issues with my Maytag model MD dishwasher. The unit was operating, and then the start/resume light began flashing. Didnt think much about it since the machine continued to run. But the machine wouldnt cycle off, or rinse or dry. It continued to run, with the start/resume light flashing. When I opened the door and hit cancel, the unit turned off. Several minutes later, the normal light and heated dry lights came on, and soon after, the unit started up by itself (Twilight Zone music is going off in my head). I let it continue to see what it was going to do. It ran, and ran, and ran some more. I stopped it and secured the power to it, left the power off for a very long time. Started it up, no joy.I began reading the blogs sent in by other frustrated Maytag owners, we are numerous. I went back and re-read some of the posts that dealt with resetting the control panel. The one that mentioned; press Hi Temp. then Start/Resume about 3 times consecutively, that did the trick. Thank you for that useful piece of info. Saved me 143.00 plus tax and shipping for the new control panel (for now). I found some very helpful MOs (Maytag owners). I also found something very frustrating, with so many unhappy customers dealing with the similar issue. I would think that Maytag would put out a technical alert that deals with these problems. Instead, we get these so-called Maytag experts that magically appear on your computer screen. They ask you, what seems to be the problem. So after I described the issue, I asked the Pro, how to prove that the issue is with the control panel, or the elect. control board, both parts are 143.00 ea. (Just trying to limit my pain.) They send me to a page that wants to charge me 28.00 for the answer. What an insult. We pay 500-800 dollars for these units that should last more than 4 yrs. and some doofus is charging you for answers that saves you the consumer money and frustration. I, like many in the Maytag blog, will never purchase a Maytag product again.

I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher in March 2013 and the control panel failed in July 2014. I, along with hundreds or thousands of others it seems, discovered that this is an extremely common issue with several models of Maytag dishwashers. Rather than standing behind their products and making it right for their customers, Maytag is hiding behind their one year warranty and refusing to do anything about it or even admit they installed thousands of FAULTY control panels. This has been an expensive, infuriating issue to deal with and I have never been so dissatisfied with a company. Bottom line, they made a bad product that should have been recalled. It blows my mind that they are getting away with this. I wish I had known the recent changes in Maytag/Whirlpool and I wish I had done my research prior to the purchase.

I had the exact same experience as the Tampa person with my Maytag dishwasher (Model: MDBTT60AWW). It was not cleaning the dishes, even when I thoroughly rinsed them. Plus, it started leaking midway through the cycle. Since the warranty was expired, I purchased an extended warranty in July 2012 for $296 (yes, in hindsight, I should have just bought a new appliance, not Maytag). I had 3 visits from 2 different technicians, both telling me the dishwasher did not leak. One telling me I was using the wrong kind of detergent and thats why dishes werent getting cleaned. The other telling me that there were too much suds and that could cause it to leak. So, I should pour a tablespoon of cooking oil (yes, cooking oil) in the dishwasher when it starts leaking and that will cut down the suds. I dont think so!Then, I found out a couple of weeks ago that this model was under a recall since 2010, not related to the leak at all. Yet, Maytag still sold me the extended warranty (wheres the ethics of that?). I requested a pro-rated refund of the balance on the warranty - and wouldnt you know that with the technicians service calls, the amount of time used on the warranty (6 months) plus an admin fee - I have used $296.48 of the warranty amount. It is almost to the exact penny of what I originally paid, so I will not be receiving any refund. They are only giving me a debit card of $150 or $250 once I buy a new Maytag to replace the recalled model. I do not want to continue down this frustrating path known as Maytag appliances.

Dishwasher Model #MDB7609AWW2 - I have replaced the touchpad once a year for 4 years. Went online and learned a DIY repair using a Permatex Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit to fill in the touchpad broken circuits. I have repaired it once a year for 2 years. My suggestion is to avoid purchasing this product. Apparently even after multiple consumers have contacted Maytag regarding this widespread defect, Maytag has not issued a recall or assisted anyone. They say if the part can be replaced there is no issue. When the dishwasher works, it is great, however it WILL NOT last. Touchpad will fail and you will be out $124 for the part plus labor unless you do the repair yourself.

Maytag Dishwasher Model MDB6759AWS3 Does Not Start - If you are having the following problem, here is what I did to fix it. All of the lights on the touch pad would light-up when pressed but the dishwasher would not start. It appears to be a corrosion problem on the connector from the touch pad to the control panel. 1. Turn off power to the dishwasher. 2. Remove the inside cover to the dishwasher door - approximately 10 screws. 3. Disconnect the electrical connections from the inside cover to the control panel still attached to the door. These are snap connectors. Always a good idea to label the connections before disconnecting in order to make sure everything goes back together properly. 4. Remove the black cover on the control panel. There are 3 screws. 5. Find the green conductor tape that connects the touch pad to the control panel. 6. You will remove the green conductor tape from the control panel. DONT just pull on it. There is a white piece of plastic that slides away from the control panel and toward the green conductor tape. It will remove pressure from the conductor tape and the conductor tape can then be disconnected from the control panel. 7. Get a good pencil eraser and clean off the exposed copper connectors in the conductor tape. 8. Place the conductor tape back into the control panel and slide the white plastic piece over it to reconnect the conductor tape to the control panel. 9. Replace cover on the control panel. 10. Reconnect the electrical connections from the inside cover to the control panel. 11. Place inside cover of the dishwasher over the proper screw holes - make sure the bottom of the inside cover is overlapping the bottom of the door - or the door wont shut properly. 12. Replace screws.13. Turn on power and check. It worked for me and saved me time waiting for a repairman and expense of the repair.
