Maytag Lavaplatos Garantia
Maytag home products include a range of powerful kitchen and laundry appliances and HVAC systems that are built to last. On the rare occasion that a broken machine derails your daily routine, you need a warranty to cover your Maytag product.
Manufacturer€s warranty € This warranty only covers appliances and electronics manufactured under a specific brand. For example, Maytag appliances or parts may be covered for several years under a Maytag manufacturer€s warranty.
Extended warranty € Manufacturers and third-party providers often offer extended warranties, which are extended service contracts that protect you after the Maytag appliance warranty expires.
Home warranty € This is a service contract that covers regular wear and tear of major home appliances regardless of brand name or age. It€s different than home insurance, as it doesn€t cover events that may damage an appliance. Instead, it€s meant to help pay for repairs that are anticipated in the long term.
Homeowners insurance € Homeowners insurance is a required form of insurance coverage that is specific to structural damage or property loss caused by theft, natural disasters, and specific occurrences.
LIMITED WARRANTY
For one year from the date of purchase, when this major appliance is operated and maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with the product, the Maytag brand of Whirlpool Corporation or Whirlpool Canada LP (hereafter €Maytag€) will pay for factory specified parts and repair labor to correct defects in materials or workmanship. Service must be provided by a Maytag designated service company. This limited warranty is valid only in the United States or Canada and applies only when the major appliance is used in the country in which it was purchased. Outside the 50 United States and Canada, this limited warranty does not apply. Proof of original purchase date is required to obtain service under this limited warranty.
ITEMS EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTY
This limited warranty does not cover:
1. Service calls to correct the installation of your major appliance, to instruct you on how to use your major appliance, to replace or repair house fuses, or to correct house wiring or plumbing.
2. Service calls to repair or replace appliance light bulbs, air filters, or water filters. Consumable parts are excluded from warranty coverage.
3. Repairs when your major appliance is used for other than normal, single-family household use or when it is used in a manner that is contrary to published user or operator instructions and/or installation instructions.
4. Damage resulting from accident, alteration, misuse, abuse, fire, flood, acts of God, improper installation, installation not in accordance with electrical or plumbing codes, or use of consumables or cleaning products not approved by Maytag.
5. Cosmetic damage, including scratches, dents, chips, or other damage to the finish of your major appliance, unless such damage results from defects in materials or workmanship and is reported to Maytag within 30 days from the date of purchase.
6. Any food loss due to refrigerator or freezer product failures.
7. Costs associated with the removal from the home of your major appliance for repairs. This major appliance is designed to be repaired in the home and only in-home service is covered by this warranty.
8. Repairs to parts or systems resulting from unauthorized modifications made to the appliance.
9. Expenses for travel and transportation for product service if your major appliance is located in a remote area where service by an authorized Maytag servicer is not available.
10. The removal and reinstallation of your major appliance if it is installed in an inaccessible location or is not installed in accordance with published installation instructions.
11. Major appliances with original model/serial numbers that have been removed, altered, or cannot be easily determined. This warranty is void if the factory-applied serial number has been altered or removed from your major appliance. The cost of repair or replacement under these excluded circumstances shall be borne by the customer

We bought a Maytag Dishwasher on March 16, 2013. Less than 10 months, we had repairman come in 5 times. First was soap scums left on the glasses after a wash. Then, the soap dispenser was leaking. Now the control panel is not working. We have to wait for a week for the parts to come in. Total length of time for hand washing dishes since we bought this dish washer is three weeks. They said they are not going to replace it until it cant not be repaired. What does that mean?? Please never ever buy Maytag dishwashers!!!!!

In the winter of 2007, we remodeled our kitchen and bought all new Maytag appliances. They cost a little more but we felt that we were getting a good quality product. Within months, the handle on the freezer became loose and I had to call for a repairman to tighten it. He told me we should buy the extended warranty because only a trained repairman could fix the handle. That turned out to be untrue thankfully because if it was true, I would have to call for repair at least once a month. The handle is constantly coming loose. A few months later, the microwave would turn on when the door was closed. I called repair as it was still under warranty. After he removed and replaced the door, I was told that we have to be careful when we close the microwave. There was nothing he could do to stop the problem. Approximately three years after we purchased the appliances, we had a problem with the dishwasher. We could only use one function; the others would not work. We were told by the technician that we got water into the door where the controls are and ruined the motherboard. I never heard anything so absurd. I have had a dishwasher in the same place for 25 years with no mishap. The cost of repair was $800. A few months later, we had a problem with the large burner on our cooktop. The outer coils heat up but the inner coils do not. I have yet to call for repair because I do not trust Maytag. Now, our microwave does not work. My husband used it to make popcorn with no problem. A little while later, I tried to heat a cup of coffee and it would not heat. The keypad works, the light comes on in the microwave but the motor does not run. Needless to say, we are very unhappy and will never buy another Maytag appliance. I wish I would have read the reviews before we purchased the appliances. Two of our friends had their kitchens remodeled at the same time we did and they have not had any problems with their appliances. But they didnt buy Maytag. I guess thats why.

In the last 6 years, Ive had a Whirlpool dishwasher that the motor seized due to poor design and overseas Asian motor builder (3 years of normal service). I cleaned the motor and it seems to barely work another couple of months but the design and manufacture process was garbage at best. Thinking I would go with the best produce MAYTAG (Old commercial about repairman having no calls), only to find out that it too was bought out by CRAPPY WHIRLPOOL and it too lasted a couple of years with cheap MADE IN CHINA electronics!!! Thats why we are the laughing stock in the world as far as products.I remember the days of where built in the USA was the best of the best, now with selling our great nation down the toilet so some Wall Street Commie can make his/her biz-zillion dollars and sell this nation down the toilet. Maybe they need to go down to Arlington and see who really has paid the price for their luxurious life-style!!!

I had a warranty that I bought over a year ago. The dishwasher since then has been a monster beyond control. I called Maytag and the woman asked how long it has been acting up. I said about a year, but I was not sure. They refused to honor my warranty because they said it would only go into effect 60 days after I purchased it. They are translating about a year as an absolute and refused to honor the warranty. I would never ever buy a Maytag product again. Never. I will contact every person I know not to buy such a faulty product.

We just had the same problem as most of you have posted. The control panel malfunction. Model MDB7749SBM. Our issue started after only 18 months when the dishwasher would start on its own and/or cancel a wash on its own. I think this is a major issue if a home appliance can start on its own from the off position and run through multiple cycles. I think this could be dangerous if you are out of town. Our cost to replace the panel was more than 1/2 of the original purchase price. This is a major defect and should be handled by Maytag if they are a company with any integrity.

I purchased an appliance package of washer dryer, refrigerator and dishwasher. All of the appliances needed many repairs. It took four icemakers in the fridge before it actually was fixed. The worst appliance was the dishwasher it was repaired every three months for six years! Washer and dryer died after five years.

So $280 because of poor testing and quality of materials. Manufacturers should test to ensure the parts last a reasonable period of time and are designed for the environment in which they are being used.

Had some extra time, so I thought Id add my .02 to those including myself disgusted with Maytag products! 1st up, the Maytag washer and dryer I purchased from my nephew after his divorce. The washer shot craps 2 months after I bought it from him (out of warranty of course!). The transmission went out - cost to repair $550.00. My nephew paid $350.00 new at Sears. We happened to have our ol reliable clanking GE, so we used that while deciding what to do about the washer. In the meantime, the dryer quit heating. Cost to replace heating element - 400 smackers! Dryer new at Sears was $250.00.Come to find out that even though they had Maytag names on the washer/dryer, they were cheap copies by White/Westinghouse. Well anyway we bought a set of Whirlpool Duets before doing our homework, cuz if we knew what was gonna happen... Before we knew the trouble we were going to have with the washer/dryer, we got a Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher (Maytag Quiet Series 300 MDBTT60AWW). Yip, the control panel failing problem! Only purchased 1 so far (only 1?!), but my wife likes to hand wash the dishes. If we were the typical family using the dishwasher all the time, I would have replaced more than 1 at a cost of $135.00 each from Sears and doing my own R&R work, saving on the labor. Cost new at Lowes - $350.00Up next is the Maytag fridge. I purchased it back when our 2 boys were at home. I bought it mainly for the name and large capacity. After about a year (yip out of warranty) the cooling was very uneven. Sometimes the freezer would defrost by itself, then it would start working ok again. The top couple of racks in the fridge would be quite a bit warmer than the bottom. I understood the top racks would be a little warmer, but Im talking like 15 degrees. I called a repairman and told him about the problem. He said hes received numerous complaints on this particular fridge, and theres really no way to repair it unless the electronics are replaced as well as the compressor because as the compressor gets weak over time, the electronics get fouled up by this. Cost new - $1300.00. Estimate over the phone cost to repair - $950.00 with no guarantees. Replaced with a SamsungAs far as the Duets? No problems so far. They work great and we are very pleased by them. But I have did my research and am holding my breath! I also have a Maytag microwave thats still working, but has did a couple of unusual things - the lights in the front panel display started flashing showing a fault. I unplugged it when its did this to reset it. That was a while back and now it seems ok. At least for now!When someone says, Yeah, well, you might just have a lemon, but the rest of Maytags appliances are fantastic! My wife and I when we hear this are ready for a fight! Weve had experience with all of Maytags products, and with the exception of the Duets (so far), they are nothing but junk!! Another thing I wish to mention is the Samsung fridge. Its about the only model that has a factory 5-year warranty on the compressor and major components. Weve had several fridges in our married life, and the Samsung is far superior to any fridge weve owned. Ill be looking to that brand in the future. The last item I promise: If you read the reviews on front load washers, none of them get very good ratings. If I would have know that, I may have purchased a top load. But the Duet washer does do a superior job (IMO) cleaning the clothes, and the clothes are virtually dry after the last spin.

Purchased a new stainless Maytag dishwasher model # MDB4949SDMO ser # F54240259 on 10-20-2015. Installed about three weeks after purchase. This unit is terrible -- has not properly operated or cleaned our dishes since installed. First service came shortly after install. Complaint was unit leaves white film on all dishes. (Soap used is cascade which was recommended by Maytag in owners manual.) Technician installed a new water fill valve because unit wasnt getting enough water. After that unit still no good as unit became noisier and noisier and still leaving white film on all dishes. Second service call: the technician indicated entire noisy pump assembly would have to be replaced and would need to order it. Third service call: the technician arrived and replaced entire pump assembly, taking the old one away with him. The technician said it will be good now. It wasnt, but at least it was quiet. That was in January 2016. This unit still does not clean dishes properly -- continues to leave a white film on everything requiring hand scrubbing to remove. All dishes are hand rinsed with hot water before loading them in dishwasher, but actually dishes are more dirty three hours later after the cleaning cycle has finished than before they were put in. After having to buy new glasses and plastic ware because stubborn white film will not come off and looks disgusting. Tried various different soaps and rinsing products to no avail.Finally contacted service department for the fourth time and today technician arrived and found the unit to be mechanically functioning as it should and can do no more to help. Said to try a product called lemi-shine. Maybe my water is too hard also he said, even though we are on city water! This is our third dishwasher at this home and have never had hard water associated issues. All I want is my full refund for this defective product and I only get the run around from Maytag. Stay away from this machine.

MDB4949SDM1 - After owning Maytag model MDB/C-2 for thirteen (13) plus years, I decided to purchase the subject Maytag Model when my 13 year old died. Big mistake. Previous model was very simplistic in rack design and it provided user-friendly options such as two detachable baskets for silverware and a special rack for delicate items.The new model has been designed so your dishes go in on angles on the top rack and as such bowls, small plates etc never stay in place once you move the rack and the lower rack configuration was redesigned and the rear area which was open to allow for bigger pots and pans to fit better has been removed, so now you have to lay your pans on top of the tines, very difficult to low the dishwasher.Additionally, I purchased the stainless steel model; apparently in the coating process a drip pattern was sealed that you can see when sunlight hits dishwasher. Further the stainless steel face that they bond to the door has popped, so when you grab the handle the face pops in and out. Lastly the new design has an adjustable upper rack; I tried numerous times to adjust the rack and couldnt so when I called Customer Service for these issues, it basically boils down to if the Service Man comes out and determines my issues are cosmetic and the rack which Ive never been able to adjust should happen to work then I have to pay the service call as there is not warranty coverage. So I declined the Service Call and advised that this would be my last Maytag purchase. I highly recommend anyone considering this unit fully investigate and test out before buying.

I had noticed the lights, such as for sanitizing cycle, hot water cycle, etc, would go out intermittently, but since the washer still ran, I was down with that. Loaded it up last Sunday, pressed the button to start and El Zippo. Nothing works. So here we go again with another crap product from Maytag. Yes, I have had this dishwasher, which was a pricier model but closeout priced, at Lowes in 2008, BUT I live alone, so how many dishes do I wash. At the same time this is the third time had a repairman out (with no help from Maytag other than trying to sell me an extended warranty for nearly $400) and these machines ought to last a lot longer than this. The part online is bad enough, $150, cant wait for the repairman to call me back tomorrow and see how much they are going to hose me for.

We bought MDB7759AWB Maytag dishwasher in 2011. It worked decently until now when it stopped delivering water to the upper rack. The cleaning quality on the lower rack also dropped significantly although it might be due to the lack of water delivery to the upper rack. Apparently there is something wrong with the internal pump. The Maytag service offered a repair for $300+ which I rejected because this is a ridiculous cost and I would rather buy a different dishwasher. My conclusion is that if you buy Maytag dishwasher you need to factor about $300+ for the repair(s) in 5 years as apparently they do when they sell you this product. Anyway, even though Maytag was a decent brand a long time ago (probably in the past century), it is not reliable anymore. It does not mean it has to be much worse than many others but if you are looking for something better than those others I would not recommend Maytag.

I own a Maytag MDB9150AWB dishwasher which isnt covered under current recalls. Yesterday, I heard a loud pop sound, and it stopped working (also popped the circuit breaker). After taking the door apart, we found burnt wires at the bottom of the door close to where they bend to go under the dishwasher.I called Maytag to find out if they would do anything, since this seemed like a defect in the materials used. They wont offer anything!

I have several rental properties and every Maytag dishwasher I have installed in the past three years does not work. It is crazy that a national class action lawsuit has not been filed. There would have to be a large sum of money in fees for the firm that takes the case on. I am not usually for class action lawsuits but this is a known problem that Maytag refuses to acknowledge.

Purchased this dishwasher about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Luckily the first two times the control panel went out, it was still under warranty (within the first year). Now its gone out again! This is the third time! What happens is all the buttons will work except for the START and CANCEL. This has been the same issue every time. I tried restarting it, made sure there was not a leak that somehow was getting to the internal electrical components in the panel. I actually know the Maytag repairman by name. Its nothing like those old commercials where the Maytag repairman sits around and has all the time in the world because their products never break. Those days are over and these guys are busy working to fix these devices they label as dishwashers. Since my warranty is now expired, it was an unexpected $96 service call to tell me what I already knew - Its your panel again sir, it needs to be replaced. Well have to order one for you and itll be $265 for parts and labor plus the $96 service call = $361 repair for something that will likely break again in a few months. Never am I buying a Maytag product again.

Maytag Model MDB7749SBW: Lights on control started flashing even when not it use, cycle lights varied, dishwasher would start on its own. Stopped at dealer and he said he never heard of problem. Checked online and found problem identified all over the internet. Called Maytag and they knew of problem and said they would send serviceman out to check. First trip free and parts would be free but I have to pay labor for second trip to repair. Dishwasher is just under 4 years old. Serial F31703877. Problem is corrosion on small flexible circuit at top of door. Same problem as others. Maytag states never been a recall!!! THIS CERTAINLY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A FIRE. Will never purchase another Maytag or Whirlpool appliance again. Poor quality and lies on the part of company and dealers as well.

Took 2/3 weeks to get repaired. So couldnt use. Never quite cleaned good - many times had to rewash silverware, glasses. Never took off food unless very well rinsed. Today the control panel went. Called a local repair he said, Dont even fix. Toss and get a new one because its too costly to repair. I asked what should I get. He said no GE, they are getting out of appliances, no Samsung. Hes got whirlpool so guess Ill give that a try. In the past Ive had dishwashers 20 years, appliances 20 years. This junk lasts a year or two. Plastic cracks. None of these appliances are great anymore. Doesnt matter who you buy. Someone needs to get some quality control on what these companies are peddling .

Oct 2011, the dishwasher stopped working and the control panel had to be replaced, few days later, it stopped working again and the Thermal fuse had to be replaced. Now two months later, it stopped working again. Till this point, Ive spent a lot of money on the repairs and I wish I had used that money to buy a new dishwasher. When I said it was out of warranty and I had no additional warranty, I was told that a repairman could come out for $110 and diagnose the problem and that parts and labor would be extra. I explained that I had purchased Maytag because I saw commercials, for years, showing that Maytag repairmen had no work. She was very unhelpful and kept droning the same mantra, that a repairman could come out for the above charge. I was very angry and asked for the name and address of the President of Maytag so I could send a letter of complaint. I composed a letter, however: it is Thanksgiving time and I need my dishwasher so I made an appointment to have it repaired. I was told he would be out Mon. between 8 and 5. I asked for a more specific time and was told that I would get a call on Sat. with the time. Thankfully, no call came, because on Sunday, I read the reviews on this site and realized that Maytag was no longer a reliable nor a responsible company and I decided to save myself money and time and stress and just go out and buy a GE. So we will hand wash the dishes on Thanksgiving and buy a GE on Black Friday. This does not mean that I am letting Maytag off the hook. I intend to send my letter to Jeff Fettig at Maytag and also join in the class action suit. Yesterday when I hit normal cycle it went to a different cycle and had many other options lit. It would not start. Finally it went dark, no lights, no nothing. I see many people have had these types of issues with this type of Maytag dishwasher. Disappointing. A dishwasher should last longer than 3 years. After two months of use, the plastic pins and attachment to the drum, top rack broke and cracked in several places. Called Whirlpool Canada for repairs many times and got the run around, spent hours on the phone and still not resolved as of December 12, 2014. This model has a problem with the plastic and breaks continuously as seen by many reviews on the internet. The technician said that this is a problem with this newest model. I have now been waiting for over two weeks for the parts with no end in sight since they claim that the parts are back ordered. Called again today and was told that it would be another week to see if they can find the pieces. This is ridiculous, I paid over $ l,000 dollars for this model and it looks like now that I will not have it repaired by Christmas. Lowes refuses to help me because they have washed their hands since it broke after one month. I have been lied to many times by customer service at Whirlpool Canada. They claim that I am the first one to complain about this model yet the reviews on the internet are full with this issue. They say what you want to hear and do not seem to care at all. It was more expensive, but because of Maytags commercials on what good products they had, I thought it would last longer and work better. Boy, was I wrong. When it was installed, it was loud. I brought this to the attention of Maytag. I was told there was nothing that they could do. Repair people were sent to my home several times to see if the noise could be fixed and unfortunately, it could not. This is the loudest dishwasher that I have ever had. I should have stayed with the same brand that was over 10 years old that died! Now the control panel blew out and will cost over $300 to have it fixed. After reviewing the numerous complaints that you have on your dishwasher with the control panels not working, I would think Maytag would be more financially responsible in helping the people that have your products that no longer work after being less than three years old. Now one of the upper rack tracks is broken, it was held together with three very flimsy welds, hopefully will be getting it fixed soon. We repaired it ourselves by following a reset directions we found online (push rinse button 5 times and then the cancel button twice). Also we cut the power to reset. Im not sure which of those two tasks reset it, but it worked until last week - now 28 months old. We are not able to reset the panel using any information that we can find. In trying to find repair options, we discover that there are a lot of complaints about the Maytag dishwashers control panels not working within just a couple of years. In speaking with Maytag, they tell me theres a class action law suit for this problem - meaning they do realize there is an obvious problem with their control panels, but are not acknowledging they have any responsibility to repair it. The law suit only covers the cost of the part but not the labor. The labor can cost between $100 - at the lowest - and up. Our Maytag dishwasher model # is MDB8949SAM1. Also noteworthy, our Maytag clothes washer gave out at less than 5 years. Maytag is no longer the company we all thought they were. Additionally, their faulty machines are costing their customers a lot of extra money. Not exactly what I would call a company with good customer service or even any ethics. We will never buy Maytag again.

Approximately 3 months later they replaced the heater. Approximately 4 months after that they replaced the entire operating/electronic board located in the door. Approximately 6 weeks before the warranty was up they had to rebuild the middle dish tray. Now that the warranty is expired by 2 months the door is leaking like a sieve. Unlike most families we use our dishwasher at least twice daily. In summation I would not recommend this brand of appliances to anyone. I will not pay to have this one repaired.

The dishwasher quit working mid-cycle a couple of weeks ago only 9.5 months since we replaced the last control panel. Im fairly certain it is the control panel again. We have paid more to replace control panels for this dishwasher than we paid for the original appliance. There should be a recall and compensation on this issue. Very disappointed that Maytag and Whirlpool do not resolve this issue. We will be buying a different dishwasher, and it will not be Maytag or Whirlpool.

It was going to cost almost as much to repair it as to buy a new dishwasher, so we opted for an $800 model (MDB8959AWW6) with a control panel across the top of the door. There had been a recall on that first Maytag for the heating element or something, so we decided to put the credit towards a machine that would last us for years, we hoped!We have been in this house for 18 years and the original cheap builder-installed dishwasher lasted for 12 years. In fact, there was nothing wrong with it when we replaced it with the last one. Whatever happened to the lonely Maytag repair man? We did not buy an extended warranty, but I can see now that probably these things are only meant to last the lifetime of the warranty.We are semi-retired and cannot afford to have the dishwasher repaired, so it will be a decoration in the kitchen from on. Never ever will I recommend Maytag to anyone! One bad experience should have been enough, and we probably would not have bought a Maytag again had it not been for the credit we got for the product recall on the last one!

13 months after purchasing MDB7749SBM3 dishwasher this lights started making no sense. For me the buttons still work, but it seems like only a matter of time until they stop working too. Like many others, I opened up the door and found the corroded ribbon connector (see photo). It wasnt damp so since the corrosion happened at the point where a ridge of plastic presses the ribbon against the hot handle, I suspect heat. Obviously a design flaw. Come on Maytag. Recall?

I sent out repair man and he gave me a price for repair totaling approx. $300. Called back to Maytag and asked for a supervisor, she agreed to send the parts for free and I had the repair man install. Out the $120 for the repair and wonder how long it will last this time! Was SHOCKED to hear so many similar complaints to mine (our local appliance store who sold us this unit, as well as services it, said this was unusual). Tiny holes in all our clothes! Black marks on clothes! Dirty clothes! LOUD & BUMPY washing - will sometimes walk itself around the laundry room, slamming into wash sink & dryer (there are dents to prove the violence). UL light that stops the machine & cant be resolved even after I untangle & lift water-soaked items. Finally started seeing black marks splattering out from under machine & was told the bearing is bad and the case (?) is leaking? ... Anyway, result to repair is MORE THAN ITS WORTH.Also have a 3 year old Maytag Quiet Series 300 DISHWASHER, that does not clean well, sometimes leaves half the dishes untouched (dry & dirty), grinds food waste & redistributes onto dishes before baking it on tight (requires soaking to loosen, then wash by hand) ... Oh, and is NOT quiet! I was told I probably use TOO MUCH SOAP. Seriously?!? My complaint is NOT soap residue ... It is D.I.R.T. How can you run a load and still have sauce & ketchup that dripped onto the inside of the door when loading the dishwasher STILL on the inside of the door??? Darn thing cant even clean itself!

The only thing the 10 year warranty covers is the stainless steel tub, the racks and chopper blade. The stop button on the control panel (circuit board) quit working and the dishwasher wouldnt start. When I called Maytag they said So sorry. It broke so soon, but that is not covered.We were told by a repair shop that Maytag has had nothing but problems with their control panel and the control panel part alone is $150 plus tax plus installation. Our old Maytag lasted 13 years and was still running great, but needed to be replaced because the racks were rusting out. I wish I would have kept the old one. I will never buy Maytag again since it is now made by Whirlpool. If Maytag is having so many problems with their control panel, they should be recalling them.

Bought a MDB7601AWW, and then replaced front panel to stainless. Configuration options are great (can’t find better at cost up to $1,200.00)! I haven’t had an issue with any stains on non-stainless tub. Problem is now control panel failing for second time. After 1st time, sealed all connections in silicone to prevent steam from affecting it, as recommended on DIY video. I just replaced the door latch, thinking that may solve it, but hard to troubleshoot without any indicator lights. This second failure (2 yrs later) shows no indication that steam or water caused it. It does start now, stuck on heavy wash, heated dry, sanitize - per top lights. Front lights totally out. Debating whether to buy a new dishwasher ($$$) and give up super config (hard to find fold-down tines and fold-down small shelves on upper and lower racks, clips for small items, and basket that can be changed, placed anywhere) or spend at least $162 for the panel AGAIN and hope I get another 2 years from that while trusting that some other element doesn’t go out. I believe Maytag should, at minimum, make the panel reasonably priced by offering a rebate, since the part is not sold directly through them. Obviously this problem is a design flaw. I am the only one in the house, so the dishwasher is not under heavy use. At least I found how to replace it myself on YouTube, though it requires the door to be completely taken apart and would be easier with an extra set of hands and a younger back. Hard decision since it seems newer, expensive appliances have problems as well. If I buy new, I will not hesitate to get an extended warranty (1st time ever).

We called Maytag and they told us there was a recall on the heater element and that they would send the part out. We made sure they knew the reason for our call--TO REPLACE THE GASKETS!. Maytag contacted a local authorized repair person. When they called to set up appointment, my husband reminded him about the gaskets. The guy showed up without gaskets, saying Maytag didnt put it on the order! We called Maytag to set up another service call. The guy showed up again today without the gaskets. We were told they had to be ordered and that he would have to come out again! Three service calls for one issue! Aside from this, the circuit board has never worked right. We push the correct buttons, but never know what kind of cycle we will get. We learned to live with it. Our bottom racks are melted as well as the sides of the dishwasher. Now that we know about the heater element being defective, this may be the cause of the bad gaskets and melted racks. It will cost almost $300 just to replace gaskets, and yes, we have to pay a service call for it when it could have been done in the first place. We called Maytag to complain and were told that replacing the gaskets always takes two service calls--one for diagnosis and the second to put in part. They said they dont take the customers word for it when we tell them whats wrong!

The date of purchase was 1/18/10, the control panel was replaced on 5-25-11 at no charge. On 10-15-12, the control panel failed again so I was forced to hand wash an entire load of dirty dishes. I used the dishwasher once a week. I am debating if it is worth it to repair it or replace it, in light of the fact that it could go out again the next year. We purchased a Maytag dishwasher mdb7749sbm1 in 2014 and have had nothing but problems with it since it was delivered. Within a year of owning it, the top jet fell off. We had it replaced and the repairman warned us that it would probably come off again due to a faulty latching system. In the last six months one of the brackets that holds the upper shelf has broken off and the dishwasher leaks every time we use it.My last cycle leaked so bad that essentially it completely soaked the extra large bath towel we place in front of it and travelled halfway through my kitchen. Not to mention that it never washed dishes well, regardless of what cycle we use, which/how little or much detergent/rinse agent and it does not filter at all, as theres debris all over my dishes and glasses. I am now looking to replace it before like other reviewers a control panel fire occurs. Strongly recommend staying away from this brand.

In March of 2015, the piece which was replaced died. When contacting Maytag, even when they did the repair the first time, said they were unable to cover the cost because it was now out of warranty. Ive seen several class action lawsuits around the product with Maytag. Do not buy a Maytag. It used to be a quality brand, but is now terrible.

If I used the options that did light and shut the door, the dishwasher would work. I had called Maytag, and they were charging almost $200.00 to come out to repair. Now after 3 years, the entire panel is out. We had someone come out. We ordered a new touch pad for $265, and it still did not work. It is the control panel that is dead. What bothers me is that after reading online, this seems to be a continual problem, and Maytag does nothing to help the consumer.

The washer has been lightly used.An online search found numerous complaints for control panel problems with this Maytag dishwasher. Please check ConsumerAffairs, Amazon, or Maytags own Facebook (Maytag was forced to create the Facebook page in 2010 under a mandate from the Consumer Product Safety Commission after a recall of dishwashers for fire hazards) before making any decision to buy a Maytag/Whirlpool appliance. Trying to find out why I found that there are thousands of complaints about this known defect with water and steam getting in and corroding the control panel. Shame on Maytag for continuing to sell these without fixing the problem. I expected my dishwasher to last many years based on the Maytag reputation instead I need to replace it. I am not going to spend the money on a repair with a machine that will have the same problem again according to other consumers.

13 months after purchasing my Maytag dishwasher, it started operating by itself. I woke up one morning around 2:00 to it working, and I know I didnt put it on! I only use the auto clean cycle (that decides how dirty the dishes are, and is the cycle you use to conserve water). I dont use heat dry at all. Anyway, now I go to use the dishwasher and even though I press the auto clean button, the normal/heat dry/delay start buttons flash on. I try canceling this cycle out; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I dont see Maytag as reliable anymore.

I am being forced to use their people and pay first before the part is received and before the work is done. They said this is their procedure. If I must pay labor, I should be allowed to use whom I want. It is absurd asking for payment before job is done when the part is free. I have since checked the complaints, and there are over 200, with one woman on her fourth control panel – I will be on my second one. I feel this machine should be replaced free of charge. Its obviously a lemon!

I am about to replace the control panel on my Maytag dishwasher (MDB7749SAM1) for the second time since purchasing it in 2012. Additionally, I have replaced the door gasket twice, as it becomes loose and does not properly seal, causing water to leak from the door during the wash cycle. There are many documented complaints of corrosion on the control panel ribbon cable necessitating replacement of the entire unit. If there were a way to replace the ribbon cable instead of the entire panel, it might be a bit easier to swallow the repair expense. Either way, it is ridiculous to have to spend almost 1/3 the original cost of the dishwasher to make it usable again, and twice in only 5 years time! My previous dishwasher was 30 years old and still functioning (though noisily) when I replaced it with this expensive lemon. I have not contacted Maytag, as it is not in warranty, however, it seems that a major appliance should last longer than a couple of years without issues.

This was very alarming as it filled the house with smoke and caused some fire damage on the bottom of the countertop also. This could have easily caused a house fire and is very disturbing. When I called Maytag, they say this model is not recalled. In my opinion it needs to be. This is a huge accident waiting to happen in other peoples homes. Please beware. If the countertop would have caught on fire entirely, the house would have gone up in flames.

Customer service is rude and expects us to wait two weeks for a service person to come out. Will not use the dishwasher because it is probably making our family sick. Maytag Dishwasher model MDBH989AWB3. The dishwasher was purchased at Home Depot March 19, 2010 in Hollywood, FL; delivered to our new home April 16, 2010 in Brunswick, ME. My complaint is the exact same complaint as the previous 28 complaints! I think the reason our unit worked for 6 yrs is because it was in use only 6 months a year. My experience: you make your selection, two lights come on, you press start, but nothing happens. You think this is a simple repair. You read the manual and try their troubleshooting advice, but to no avail. When you contact the company, they tell you that this is going to be an expensive repair, probably over $500. You contact Home Depot who want nothing to do with you or your dead dishwasher. Their advice: contact the Maytag company. You contact local appliance repairmen and they will repair it at a cost of over $500. You offer the unit to the repairman for free; he declines. He suggests you check the online Consumer Affairs site. It is on that site that you realize the dead dishwasher belongs where one brings other dead things: the dump. I will NEVER buy another Maytag product. I would suggest no one else does either, unless you want to practice your skills in dealing with frustration or you want to throw $693.40 to the wind and watch it flit away helplessly. I bought the quiet series 200 dishwasher about 2 years ago. The control board went out and because it was past the industry standard one-year warranty, we were told we need to pay the cost of repair and parts ourselves. Well, I came here and seen that there were numerous complaints about that board specifically with all their models of dishwashers. I called and raised hell two times, and then I found them on Facebook and publicly bashed them there on their own page. They got back to me there and gave me an email address to explain my problem with their product. So I did. I even copied this web address and pasted it to my complaint. First, they called me and offered the part at 50% off. I told them, Go to hell. Even at 50% off the part combined with the techs labor, Im still better off buying a new machine and it will not be a Maytag ever again! A week after that another phone call came from them, this time saying they will cover the part 100%, but no labor. I agreed and for about $180 I got a new control panel installed and a one-year warranty on everything except cosmetic damage. Not bad, eh? Certainly not typical, I was told by the repair guy. Be angry, be respectful, but be persistent and public! That’s my advice.

Called to see if there is any suggestions or work arounds and was told they would be glad to set up a service call for between $70 and $100, where they could tell me how much it would cost to fix. As with the other 100s of folks with the same problem, they basically said gee, you should have bought an extended warranty. If you have this many people with the same problem then it is Maytags problem, not the poor sucker consumer who got stuck with it. If you are considering this dishwasher, run, dont walk, as far from a Maytag or Westinghouse product as you can get. If anyone starts a class action suit against this product, please count us in!

First it would only let me choose the rinse option but now all the lights are turning on and the dishwasher will not stop washing but yet the dishes are still dirty. I called Maytag and they quoted me 249.00 to fix the issue. But if its a common problem with this make and model why do I have to pay to replace the panel. They should recall this model or replace the panel with an updated one that wont have the same issues! I cant imagine paying 249.99 every year to replace this panel that seems to malfunction no matter what you do!!! I paid around 550.00 at the home Depot for this dishwasher! It had a recall for a heater part that could potentially burn down my house, so we couldnt use it while we waited for that part to be replaced. They offered me a small sum of money towards the purchase of a much more expensive dishwasher which I declined since Id only had the dishwasher a few months at the most. It is now the end of August 2011, a month past their factory warranty. The dishwasher did not get my dishes clean, made awful grinding noises and three days ago, it refused to drain and then spewed 50 or more gallons of water all over my kitchen which then leaked into the basement. The repairman charged $85 to tell me that the computer in the control panel had burned out and was not fixable. I think I paid somewhere in the region of $500 for this machine. My last dishwasher lasted about ten years. This is completely unacceptable. In searching the internet, I found hundreds, if not thousands of identical complaints. Clearly, this machine is a lemon and Maytag should be forced to replace it or better yet, refund the money spent to purchase the machine. Plus, pay for my valuable time spent mopping up water, washing dishes by hand, searching the internet for probable cause and potential solutions, waiting for Maytag/Home Depot to respond to my inquiries and a large sum for general annoyance. Maytag had a reputation of reliability (emphasis on had). Theyve got some slick ads but they do not stand behind their products at all. I will never by another Maytag product and I urge you to do the same.

It may have been the city water, but no matter what I put into the machine to keep the dishes from being cloudy it never worked. It became disabled about a year after we moved in, and it was only about 6 years old. However, there were two families before me that used it and I have no idea how they used it. I asked why they havent recalled this model, due to the problems that so many people are having. They dont know. Pretty much the same complaint as Ive read about the Maytag dishwasher control panel issue. I purchased ours in Nov. 2009, issues began in April 2011, and service call for $129 where the technician said it needs a replacement control panel. I spent another $130 for the part and warranty on this specific part. In December 2011, issues occurred again. I ordered a new control panel in January and was told 3-5 days, called after 10 days and was told it was on backorder and should be shipped sometime in March. Youd think the Maytag President would be embarrassed for producing a product like this that in my eyes has tarnished what was a reputable household brand. Not that it will do any good but I will mail a letter to the President. One positive, our kids are learning to wash dishes the way I did as a kid, by hand. I sure hope the new control panel we hope arrives in March fixes this problem for good.

And when it came to appliances, I was vehement we were going to go with Maytag because of their great name and reliability (We have 7 sons and needed reliable appliances). Boy, was I ever wrong?! We have gone through 2 Maytag dishwashers and countless repairs to the Maytag dryer. And our top of the line refrigerator has been a piece of junk!Of course, shortly after the year warranty was up, the flimsy pieces of plastic holding up the shelves started breaking off. The repairman, who came to replace the cooling coil on the refrigerator, said those shelf plugs couldnt be fixed. The whole front of all drawers have come off as well. He mentioned that Maytag was going bankrupt and started compromising on fit and finish. And he said that we just happened to purchase in that time frame. Now, we have a compressor that needs to be replaced for over $500! I have, in my garage, a Gibson freezer from my grandma that is 40 yrs old, and literally the most reliable appliance we have. Never have we made any repairs to it!I called Whirlpool (since they bought Maytag) to tell about my horrible experience with Maytag, and let them know we have to replace these appliances. I asked if there was anything they could/would do (discounts whatever) to redeem their name. I was told that they would not be able to help at all. So, I told them that I would not give Whirlpool anymore of my business and warn anyone I could, not to buy Maytag, Whirlpool or Amana. Total purchase price was $449, not including tax.Sometime in November of 2011, the unit stopped working. I tried every simple test I could think of to hopefully reset the unit. Finishing the obvious checks, I researched some possible problems on the internet latch micro switch, drainage problem, dirty latch, etc. Frustrated as nothing got it working again, I called a repairman recommended to us by the appliance store.The repairman charged me $75 for the visit just to tell me that the control board is shot. Even worse, and this is the reason for this letter, the part costs $329 plus $40 in labor! That is outrageous! If you do the math, I am facing the costs of a brand new unit to fix the old one. That might make sense if the unit was 8 years old but it is barely 2.I have sat on the decision now for a few days as I am beyond upset and I never make good decisions when I feel like this. But to recap, Maytag manufactures an appliance where its basic function - turning on - fails in 2 years and the repair cost essentially totals (to use insurance parlance) the unit. I find this absolutely unacceptable.I don’t expect Maytag to do anything for me. But I will say this; I plan on letting everyone I know just how this experience went. To make things worse, I am willing to pay for a quality unit but how does anyone know what that is anymore? For color, my grandmother has a KitchenAid dishwasher from the 1970s that is still running fine. No membrane controls, no delay functions or fancy BS super sanitary cycles and guess what, it has no control board, just plain old dials and buttons. Imagine that mechanical control? However, in September, 2014 (2 months out of warranty!!), the control panel stopped working. I called the 800 number and the best they could do is to extend the warranty for 6 months BUT only after we paid for repair and control board replacement. This is not cheap!!! We were furious. I looked if there were recalls on this model but there is not (should be). Anyway, after we paid for repairs and a new control panel put in ($160.00 +- for part itself), we were very cautious about touching anything on that dishwasher. YOU HAVE an issue with design and I can give you link after link of other customers who have expressed the same thing. So, here we are in 2017... About 2 months ago, we noticed the exact same symptoms with the control board.In fact the ONLY way we could start the dishwasher was to turn off the breaker, let it sit for 20 minutes - overnight and then turn back on and hit the start button. We lost all control over the settings. Only auto clean and delay 2 hours were working. Yesterday, I purchased yet another control board ($179 incl tax and shipping). I plan to install myself. If I could afford another dishwasher, I would do it and never buy Maytag again. Maytag really ought to be ashamed and if they were truly concerned they would offer these defective parts at a steep discount or better yet, recall. Maytag Dishwasher model #MDB7759SAW3 continues the Whirlpool company legacy of subpar control panels in all of their dishwashers. It is telling that they have been allowed to market the exact same failing parts for well over a decade without any accountability. They had one recall circa 2007-2010 and pushed customers into purchasing the model I have which suffers from the exact same control panel design.To further frustrate the consumer experience, Maytag customer service reps and supervisors allege that they have never heard of a customer having issues with their dishwasher control panel before. The panel beeps endlessly and refuses user input regardless of whether the door is opened or closed. After a power disconnect it will reset and sometimes allow one load to be washed before resuming the non stop beeping. If opened and closed during the beeping it will cycle through a completely new wash cycle on its own and resume beeping. Maytag customer service response this morning was, “thank you for being a Maytag customer”.We will my be purchasing their replacement control panels as they are of poor quality and it is well documented that the new ones fail annually as well. These are “high end” appliances and are not inexpensive. We will simply cease to use whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, Kitchenaid, etc. brands in our home and will advise everyone we know to protect themselves the same way.

Today, it has stopped working again and the control panel again has gone bad and has to be replaced. Sadly, the dishwasher is great in cleaning dishes. I have only had to rewash maybe one or two items in the time that Ive had it. I purchased Maytag because my previous dishwasher was a Maytag that lasted 20 years. Granted I did have to change the belt twice but it was an easy fix. Ive tried repeatedly to contact Maytag today but they are experiencing extremely high call volume... HA! I wonder why? Model MDB7749SBM1, Complete FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and GARBAGE. Let me explain. Maytag clearly claims this dishwasher is stainless steel on the inside and out... FALSE, BOGUS CLAIM. Please check for yourself, tried a magnet to it everywhere and the magnet stuck everywhere. I have had this dishwasher for 15 months. The keypad frequently stuck. When I called Maytag, they told me if its usable, there is no defect. 15 months after purchase and 3 months after WARRANTY ran OUT on Thanksgiving Day with 25 guest. The keypad finally quit for good. I called the Friday afterward and was told no service for a week. I called and received local service but they told me it would need a keypad, which I waited to call on Monday since Maytag is closed on weekends how ironic. I was told they wont cover anything since a certified person didnt come out even though nothing was ever fixed and they blatantly lied to the consumer. Tried to sell me an extended service plan. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE AND WHEN IM IN LOWES OR HOME DEPOT, I WILL TELL EVERYONE IN THERE SHOPPING THE SAME THING, DONT BUY MAYTAG IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU.
